Laura Dawn Bailey (born May 28, 1981) is an American actress and voice actress. Best known for her {{anime}} roles (at first, Creator/FUNimation titles but she has definitely moved on), she has also supplied voices in video games and worked as staff on several anime series. If you've played much AAA games in the last few years, you've likely heard her voice, as she's become one of the most prolific female voice actors in the industry since 2010.

Some of her best known anime roles are Lust in ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'', Young Trunks in ''Anime/DragonBallZ'', Maka Albarn in ''Manga/SoulEater'', Tohru Honda in ''Manga/FruitsBasket'', Sana Kurata in ''[[Manga/KodomoNoOmocha Kodocha]]'', Shin Nohara in the English dub of ''Manga/CrayonShinChan'', and Rise Kujikawa in ''VideoGame/{{Persona 4}}''.

As for video games, she is well known as Rayne in the ''VideoGame/BloodRayne'' video game series, the default voice for a female Boss in the ''VideoGame/SaintsRow'' series from ''3'' onwards, Fetch in ''VideoGame/InfamousSecondSon'' and ''VideoGame/InfamousFirstLight'', Serana in the ''Dawnguard'' DLC for ''VideoGame/TheElderScrollsVSkyrim'', Fiona in ''VideoGame/TalesFromTheBorderlands'', Kait Diaz in ''[[VideoGame/GearsOfWar Gears of War 4]]'' and Black Widow in Marvel's Disney XD animation lineup. She is married to fellow voice actor Creator/TravisWillingham.

Bailey primarily does video game voice overs and western animation nowadays, rarely getting any new anime roles, generally only reprising roles when she does anime. If she does get a new anime role, it's usually with Creator/{{Studiopolis}}.

!!Tropes applicable to Laura Bailey's work:
%%* ActionGirl: A majority of the characters she voices fall into this.
* AnimeChineseGirl: She voiced many characters in video game and anime who happen to be Chinese. Across from the iconic Chun-Li, she also voiced Faye Lee, Pao-Lin Huang, and Xing Huo.
* ApprovalOfGod: She apparently retweeted [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1stzC4Kh-CY this video]] of [[VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening Lucina]] reciting some of [[VideoGame/SaintsRow the Boss']] lines. For the uninitiated, Bailey used the same voice for both characters, though their dispositions are [[NiceGirl incredibly]] [[{{Jerkass}} different]] in canon.
* CrossdressingVoices: Notably as [[Manga/CrayonShinChan Shin]] and [[Anime/DragonBallZ Kid Trunks]]. Subverted with [[spoiler: [[VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening Marth (who is actually Chrom's future daughter, Lucina)]]]].
%%* ContraltoOfDanger: Due to the number of {{Action Girl}}s she voiced, many of her characters she voiced come out this way. That being said, she's capable for using a higher-pitched voice for cuter and younger characters.
%%* MsFanservice: A lot of her characters tend to be rather attractive, from Harribel, Homura, Lust, Christie and Rayne, to Chun-Li, Anko, Kira Carsen, Rise Kujikawa, Black Widow and Catwoman.
* OneOfUs: Big fan of anime as well as video games. Particularly ''Franchise/DragonAge'' and ''Franchise/FinalFantasy''. (''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX'' is her personal favorite).
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xG2vGg8ygc#t=18m13s According]] to Creator/TaliesinJaffe (the voice director for ''Street Fighter IV'' and ''VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom3'', as well as the voice of Blanka and Adon in the former), Bailey (as well as some of the other voice actors involved [[note]]these voice actors are Creator/TravisWillingham (Guile), Creator/ReubenLangdon (Ken), Creator/KyleHebert (Ryu), and Creator/MatthewMercer (Fei Long)[[/note]]) actually plays ''SFIV'' online from time to time.
** Fun Fact: When she auditioned for Chun-Li, she was the only actress who actually knew who Chun-Li was!
** She's also an avid ''Skyrim'' fan.
** [[https://twitter.com/jhaletweets/status/358677083502821376/photo/1 Her reaction]] to seeing Creator/GeorgeRRMartin.
* PlayingAgainstType: As the voice of the [[ClusterFBomb foul-mouthed]], [[TheSociopath sociopathic]], [[DamnItFeelsGoodToBeAGangster gang-leading]] VillainProtagonist in ''VideoGame/SaintsRowTheThird'' and ''VideoGame/SaintsRowIV''. Ditto for ''Series/BloodRayne'' where the director actually tried to come up with lines to make her blush: Bailey had a blast playing the character but said she could not identify with the foul mouthed sociopathic Rayne.
* PromotedFangirl: According to Bailey, out of all the women who auditioned for the role of Chun-Li in ''VideoGame/StreetFighterIV'', she was the only one who [[ShownTheirWork actually knew who Chun-Li was]].
** Also was a fan of ''VideoGame/TheElderScrollsVSkyrim'' before being cast as Serana.
** A fan of ''Literature/ASongOfIceAndFire'' and ''Series/GameOfThrones'', she became part of that universe through [[VideoGame/TelltalesGameOfThrones the Telltale game]].
* RelationshipVoiceActor: With Travis Willingham. She once mentioned [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtY5LnlxFEg at an anime convention in 2010]] that while in the middle of a recording session for Lust's final episode in ''[[Manga/FullmetalAlchemist Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood]]'', she received a text message from Willingham that consisted of one line: [[EvilLaugh HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!]] For those who don't know why that's so funny, the linked video also has Willingham's side of the story.
** And in ''VideoGame/BinaryDomain'', she plays the {{love interest|s}} to the main character, who's voiced by Willingham. As more than one snarky observer has commented, "That must have been a pretty easy 'acting' job."
** Then we have a bit of a subversion in ''[[VideoGame/TraumaCenter Trauma Team]]'', where Willingham voices diagnostician Gabriel and has his first mission with patient high schooler Nicole who's voiced by Bailey. And of course, awkwardness ensues between the age gap, but it's pure embarrassment on both sides.
** In ''VideoGame/SaintsRowGatOutOfHell'', her character gets kidnapped by Willingham's character.
** The two got married in 2011.
** She and Creator/TroyBaker have also had their fair share of team-ups, to say the least.
** She even team up with Creator/JohnnyYongBosch as well, thoroughly weirdly enough, at least 3 of Bailey's characters who have some major interactions with JYB's characters also happens to be voiced by Creator/RieKugimiya
* RunningGag: An unintentional one seems to be that, inevitably, should Bailey and Willingham wind up playing badasses, they will kick the crap or straight up murder each other (for example, ''Fullmetal Alchemist'', ''Avengers Assemble'' and ''Infamous Second Son''). At Metrocon 2015, Laura noted how odd it was that she always seemed to play close friends or love interests with Troy Baker, while her characters often butt heads with those played by Travis.
* StarMakingRole: In anime, Tohru Honda from ''Fruits Basket''. In video games, either Rayne in ''VideoGame/BloodRayne'', Chun-Li in ''VideoGame/StreetFighterIV'' or Rise Kujikawa from ''VideoGame/{{Persona 4}}''.
%%* ScreamingWarrior: She can ''scream''. Memorable ones include [[Manga/FullmetalAlchemist Lust]], [[Manga/SoulEater Maka]], and [[VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening Lucina]].
%%* {{Tomboy}}: Had voiced several characters that fit into this trope.
