[=FilmCow=] is an animation studio headed up by Jason Steele. They are the creators of weekly shorts, both animated and infrequently live-action. Their most notable works include many animated series, including ''WebAnimation/CharlieTheUnicorn'', ''WebAnimation/LlamasWithHats'', ''Marshmallow People'' and ''Detective Heart of America''. and the longer animations ''WebAnimation/TheCloak'' and ''Spatula Madness''.

They are also behind various other many one-shots and three planned feature-length films: An animated film based on Spatula Madness which was never finished[[labelnote:*]]Although the finished scenes are being released sporadically on their channel[[/labelnote]]; A live-action film named ''Nick: The Feature Film'', a mockumentary about a film director who is perhaps too obsessed with a regular man named Nick, and records an entire day in his life; and their most recent: A film based on the ''Detective Heart of America'' series that was Kickstartered and is slated for release in 2014.

Their website can be found [[http://www.filmcow.com/ here]], their YouTube channel [[http://www.youtube.com/user/SecretAgentBob here]], and their second channel [[https://www.youtube.com/user/FilmCowExtra here]].

!!Tropes that appear in their videos include:
* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: "It's Aladdin!" portrays Disney/{{Aladdin}} as a deceitful {{Jerkass}} who only cares about sleeping with Jasmine. [[invoked]]
** Likewise, "It's {{Franchise/Super Mario|Bros}}" portrays Mario as a racist, murderous maniac.
* ArtShift: The "It's..." series (so far including "It's Disney/{{Aladdin}}!", "It's Cake, Boss!" and "It's Franchise/{{Super Mario|Bros}}!") has noticeably worse art in comparison to the standard fare videos that are posted on the channel.
* AssShove: [[spoiler:Chris is on the receiving end of one of these thanks to a huge sword flying from the sky, courtesy of Rob's artistic impression of the end]] of "Nick: The Feature Film".
* BigBad: ''Dad Cop 2'' has Mister Kill/[[spoiler:The Chief of Police]].
* BigEater: Star Catfish from "Charlie the Yannicorn", who is ''constantly'' hungry and thinking about food. Ends up being a ChekhovsGun when he ends up saving the day by eating the ghost king.
* BlackComedy: A lot of the site's humor involves things that are normally played for utter horror by other people.
* BlackComedyRape: "Bino The Elephant."
* BlatantLies: At the beginning of "Chris Draws a Cartoon", Jason says that he wrote something that wasn't too difficult for Chris (who has never drawn before) to handle. Cue the characters describing the highly detailed SceneryPorn around them, forcing Chris to work very hard on just about every scene.
* BloodKnight: Carl from the Llamas sketches to a disturbing degree. He eats faces just to let you know.
* BreadEggsMilkSquick: "Ferrets" [[spoiler:is a gradual example of this, as Harold slowly realizes how [[AxCrazy unhinged]] his friend is during the latter's ListSong.]]
* [[spoiler:BulletCatch]]: In "Detective Heart of America 2"
-->'''The Baby:''' [[spoiler:I just caught your bullet with my gun, no big d!]]
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Booboo in "Business Cats" is an exceptional accountant. He is also [[CreepyMonotone phenomenally]] [[DissonantSerenity creepy.]]
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: Why should Doctor Fabulous remember who Zorg is? He battles a thousand alien scumbags every week!
** [[FantasticRacism You know what? That's racist! You sir, are a racist!]]
* CatchPhrase: The Baby from "Detective Heart of America 2" has "I'm just a stupid baby!"
** The recent "Ghost House" videos have the narrator make some revelation about the situation he's in and say "Oh shiiit!"
* CloudCuckooLand: The skits tend to be in places where.......''things'' happen. Like going to Candy Mountain and having your kidney's stolen. Or having a sentient, communist hating, Cloak and a disembodied, singing, head and spine talk about the sweet milk from the breasts of Freedom. Save for a select, completely frazzled [[OnlySaneMan few]], virtually everyone in the skits are crazy to some extent.
* TheCuckoolanderWasRight: Amongst his insane and downright creepy outbursts, Dennis from ''The Magical Realm of Horseman'' says a few very insightful things.
-->'''Dennis:''' (In response to one of Horseman's egotistical rants) One day, the universe will collapse into entropy and even Shakespeare and Coca-Cola won't be remembered. So what chance do you have?\\
'''Horseman:''' Oh for God's sake, Dennis, stop Holocausting my party.
* CloudCuckoolander: Nick ''could'' have been this in ''Nick: The Feature Film'', but Rob plays into this trope much more. That is, until Chris shows up and [[AlwaysSomeoneBetter blows him out of the water]] in regards to craziness, and Chris ends up being the resident Cuckoolander.
* ClusterFBomb: The entirety of the ''Cracklin' Oat Bran'' commercial.
* CombatPragmatist: The titular eagle in the "Detetctive Heart of America" series. In the first video, [[spoiler:he pulls out a gun and shoots Pinocchio in the face]] and in the second he [[spoiler:attempts the same on The Baby and when that proves unsuccessful, he stamps him down with a boot.]]
* DisneyAcidSequence: "Charlie the Unicorn" has one OncePerEpisode.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Zulway, God of Mercy's judgements always involve [[{{Irony}} mercilessly]] exploding the perpetrator, no matter the offense. Such offenses include disagreeing with Zulway on which ice cream flavor is best.
* EagleLand: "Detective Heart of America" exists to parody this.
* EvolvingCredits: "Detective Heart of America".
--> '''Credits''': (Episode 1): Detective Heart of America, he saved the day! [[spoiler:Took out his fuckin' gun and blew Pinocchio away! AMERICA!]]\\
'''Credits''': (Episode 2): Detective Heart of America, he saved the day! [[spoiler:Took out a big ol' boot and beat that baby in the face! He's going to jail!]]
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: ''Hit It With A Car'', where Chris Alex hits everyday objects with a Cadillac Eldorado.
* ForScience: Dr. Z's reason for doing just about anything in "Bino the Elephant".
* FundamentallyFunnyFruit: The entire premise of "Stanley and the Pineapple."
* GainaxEnding: "Marshmallow People 2".
** "Marshmallow People 3" even more so...
** Every episode of ''Dark Midnight''.
* GoMadfromtheRevelation: One of the puppet creatures when he finds out that Biscoff Spread is made of cookies.
* HappyEnding: [[spoiler:''Spatula Madness'']]
** [[spoiler: ''Mystery of the Missing Emerald Necklace'', aside from being the only part of the Westington Manor trilogy where the elephant detective does not die, ends with the mystery being solved and the culprit finally being caught and arrested, abeit in the most anticlimatic way imaginable.]]
* TheHedonist: Both of the Marshmallow People. Becomes a plot point in the second video when they realize that nothing they do fulfills them, and they try to make up for everything they've done.
* HouseRules: Chris's version of Monopoly in ''Nick: The Feature Film'' appears to be entirely made up of these.
* IAmNotShazam: Subverted in ''Dad Cop 2''. The protagonist's name is Dad Cop 2.
* [[spoiler:IAteWhat]]: "The Walrus Song".
-->'''Tim:''' [[spoiler:[[WhamLine I've been feeding you walrus meat.]]]]\\
'''Mister Walrus:''' What?!\\
'''Tim:''' [[spoiler:That glop I feed you every morning is walrus meat. ''You're a cannibal.'']]
* InformedAttribute: Pretty much everything that Woman says about the animal/dinosaur/alien/robber. No matter what she says about it, from what we see it's pretty much just standing/floating there doing nothing but meowing occasionally.
* {{Jerkass}}: Horseman. Dear Zulway, God of Mercy, Horseman. Same goes for the Marshmallow People.
* LamePunReaction: Yannicorn groans when Star Catfish, when told that there's nowhere around to get a pot pie, says that he feels like he's going to ''pot cry''.
* MoodWhiplash: "OMG BISCOFF SPREAD" begins as what seems like an advertisement for the spread, but quickly devolves into a [[NightmareFuel nightmarish]] descent into madness over said foodstuff's contents.
** [[MadnessMantra "Made out of fuckin' COOKIES... made out of fuckin' COOKIES... made out of fuckin' COOKIES..."]]
* TheMovie: "Detective Heart of America" is getting one in 2014.
* MyRulesAreNotYourRules: The rules to Chris's game of Monopoly in ''Nick: The Feature Film'' appear to be this. [[spoiler:He ends up giving Robert the two worst properties in the game and a grand total of ''three dollars''.
* MundaneMadeAwesome: ''Hit It With A Car''. Chris Alex rams a shiny yellow Cadillac Eldorado into everyday objects, and he cannot be more excited. Contrasting this is [[StraightMan Nick Alex]], who looks at things [[TheComicallySerious more objectively]].
* NarratingTheObvious: The random cop from "The Cloak" stating that he's a cop and upholds a variety of laws and edicts.
* OrificeInvasion: Courtesy of Bino The Elephant. And a sentient flower. In Hell.
* [[invoked]] ShockingSwerve: PlayedForComedy in every episode of ''Dark Midnight''... [[spoiler:'''''Twice'''''.]]
--> [[spoiler:'''Time Traveler''']]: [[spoiler:[[EveryEpisodeEnding I'm a traveler from the future with a terrible warning for humanity!]]]]
* ParodyCommercial: The OMG CRACKLIN' OAT BRAN and OMG BISCOFF SPREAD are these. Fannie and Earl begins as a usual skit [[spoiler:but suddenly turns into a commercial for Pizza Hut by a singing "spook".]]
* {{Pastiche}}: Many of the live action videos...
** ''The Cosmic Adventures of Doctor Fabulous'' is an homage to many British Sci-fi serials like Series/DoctorWho and Series/TheHitchhikersGuideToTheGalaxy.
** ''Dark Midnight'' pays tribute to Creator/RodSerling style shows like Series/TheTwilightZone and Series/NightGallery, only [[StylisticSuck played for so-ridiculous-it's-funny]].
* PrecisionFStrike: In the final scene of ''Professor Toothy''.
--> '''Man''': ''*holding [[spoiler:a bag of sugar]]*'' Boy, [[TemptingFate I could sure go for some Skittles or a whole bucket of Froyo or some shit]]!
** Possibly the first they ever did is at the end of ''Detective Mittens''. Early cartoons in general had little to no harsh language.
* PreMortemOneLiner: From ''Dad Cop 2'':
--> [[spoiler:'''Chief''': You're off the case!]]\\
'''Dad Cop 2''': Oh yeah? Well you're...\\
[[BoomHeadshot Bang]]!\\
'''Dad Cop 2''': [[spoiler:''Off the face!'']]
** Also attempted by [[spoiler:Mister Kill/The Chief of Police]] in the end of the same video:
--> [[spoiler:'''Mister Kill''']]: That's right, Dad Cop 2. It's now time for ''you''... To Dad.. Cop... DIE!
* RealityEnsues: In "A Serious Business Meeting", Johnson breaks into song about how Tom's advertising proposal is "totally gay". [[spoiler:Johnson is promptly fired.]]
* SceneryPorn: Chris is forced to do this several times in "Chris Draws a Cartoon". Eventually he gets [[PrecisionFStrike fed up]] [[FreudWasRight with it]].
* ScreamDiscretionShot: In "Bino the Elephant", when the flower from hell is crawling up Bino's urethra. We instead see Dr. Z listening to Bino's screams via their communicators.
* SoundtrackDissonance: Bino the Elephant's title theme, aside from being ridiculously catchy for a song that plays over a video of an elephant being dropped into hell, features a sound clip of children cheering at three moments which coincide with when Bino gets trapped in hell, Bino catching fire, and Bino being impaled on spikes.
* StealthParody: Hit It With A Car is a stealth AffectionateParody of the destruction genre of YouTube videos such as WillItBlend and IsItAGoodIdeaToMicrowaveThis. They even featured Blendtec blenders in one episode. Of course people don't get the joke and often request crazy things for them to hit with a car including another car.
* StylisticSuck: The "Detective Heart of America" videos have shades of this.
** The ''charlie teh unicron'' series when compared to ''Charlie the Unicorn''.
** "Wizard of the West" is another example.
* SurrealHumor: Oh, very.
* TakeThat:
** Steele made an entire cartoon attacking Chris Brown; it even used some of the man's own words against him.
** People expected his John [=McCain=] cartoon to be this, [[SubvertedTrope but]] it turned out to just be a nonsensical, surreal cartoon that happened to star the politician. In the Filmcow DVD commentary, Jason Steele even emphasized that the cartoon wasn't supposed to have any political agenda or message; he just liked how [=McCain=] always said "my friends" and thought it would be funny to base a cartoon off of that quirk.
** ''charlie teh unicron'' a rather crudely drawn and animated ''Charlie the Unicorn'' pastiche, was most likely aimed at people who kept requesting new episodes of the latter.
** ''The Mystery of the Missing Silver Pendant'' is one against [[spoiler:George Zimmerman]].
* TalkingAnimal: A great number of the cartoons.
* {{Telefrag}}: Bino [[spoiler: accidentally kills Dr. Z's wife]] this way.
* TemptingFate: Done intentionally by the guy being bothered in "Professor Toothy" in order [[spoiler:to get Professor Toothy to show up so that he can attack him.]]
* TheGenieKnowsJackNicholson: "It's Aladdin!" parodies this, the genie only knows how to do impersonations of celebrities who won't exist for another thousand years.
* TomatoInTheMirror: Parodied in "Ghost House" which ends with the ghost haunting the house [[spoiler: accidentally cutting his finger, which makes him realize that he's not really dead or a ghost. He's just an idiot who deluded himself into thinking that he was]].
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: George in "The Animal", "Jurassic Park 5", "Prometheus 2", and "The Robber" is making eggs at the start of each episode. Naturally, he never gets to eat them.
* TriggerHappy: [[spoiler:George Zimmerman]] in "The Mystery of the Missing Silver Pendant".
** Also the eponymous character from ''Dad Cop 2''. He even ends up shooting [[spoiler:the Chief of Police]].
* UnusualEuphemism: Doctor Fabulous gives us "Oh sweet fancy Moses, what is that?!"
* UnfortunateImplications: [[invoked]] In "It's Super Mario!", Toad points out the racism in Mario's rather poor imitation of an Italian, comparing it to "putting on a bad Chinese accent and yelling 'fried rice' a bunch." Then...
--> '''Mario:''' Mario can do Chinese!\\
'''Toad:''' [[OhCrap No, no, please don't -]]\\
''(Mario turns into a more "Chinese" version of himself)''\\
'''[=Chinese!Mario=]:''' It's-a-me, Mari-roh!\\
'''Toad:''' God, ''no...''
* [[spoiler:VillainSong]]: ''Make Me Smile'' from "Ferrets"
* VisualPun: ''The Mystery of the the Missing Emerald Necklace'' has the culprit immediately surrendering to the [[TalkingAnimal elephant detective]], and then they just stand there silently and awkwardly as they wait for the police to arrive. The obvious question would be why the culprit would steal all those treasures and then give up, but it's not mentioned because ''they're not talking about the elephant in the room''.
* WeaksauceWeakness: Professor Toothy [[spoiler: naturally gets horribly burned by sugar]].
* WellIntentionedExtremist: [[spoiler:The BigBad]] of ''Spatula Madness''.
* WhamLine:
** "Cupcake Pals":
--> '''Cupcake''': [[spoiler:HELP ME, ''JESUS PUT ME IN THE [[PrecisionFStrike FUCKING]] BLENDER!'']]
** "The Walrus Song":
-->'''Tim:''' [[spoiler:I've been feeding you walrus meat.]]
** "OMG BISCOFF SPREAD" has one that isn't really that shocking, but is treated as such by the puppets:
--> '''Puppet 2''' ''(describing the foodstuff)'' It's made out of fucking ''cookies!''
** "Ferrets" has a [[WhamLine Wham Lyric]]:
--> '''Ferret''': [[spoiler:Everybody knows the holocaust was a lie]], so let's sing about the things we like and don't be shy...!\\
'''Harold''': Wait, what was that about [[spoiler:the holocaust]]?
** "Obama's Terrible Secret":
--> '''John''': I know your favourite Franchise/Pokemon is... [[spoiler:Mr. Mime!]]
** "Nick: The Feature Film", just when [[spoiler:things are starting to look up for Chris]]:
--> '''Rob''': Chris smiled the biggest smile of his life, a face made from pure sparkling bliss. [[spoiler:And then a huge sword came flying out of nowhere and plunged ''right up his ass''.]]
----
!! YMMV Tropes[[note]]until the YMMV page is unlocked[[/note]]
* {{Moe}}: Angela. Good Zulway, God of Mercy, you just can't help give the poor girl a hug for all the crap Horse Man puts her through.
* EarWorm: Every song from CharlieTheUnicorn, as well as ''The Walrus Song'', ''Ferrets'', and ''John [=McCain=] and his Vegetable Friends''. [[SurrealHorror Disturbingly so]].
** Also let's not forget the theme song of "Detective Heart of America":
--> '''Opening''': Detective Heart of America, savin' the day! He gets a boner for freedom, now let me hear you say AMERICA!
* NightmareFuel: Puppet creatures with pointy sharp teeth from the depths of Hell.... [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwud6Qh4e_c and they fuckin' love Cracklin' Oat Bran!]]
** [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BZsIY6PUPU High Octane doesn't begin to describe the second puppet video.]]
** ''Spatula Madness'' has a fair bit of this. The [[EldritchAbomination ending]] of ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KFOFOHiqxM Spatula Madness: The Doctor's Office]]'' is definitely this, and the [[{{Gorn}} ending]] of ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqvlvOiQFAg A Night of Spatula Madness]]'' is even worse. In the latter case, the protagonist starts continuously screaming at the horror of [[spoiler: dozens of manatees impaled on chains hanging from the ceiling of a huge underground chamber, with clocks grafted to them. Oh, and at least one of these manatees is [[AndIMustScream still alive.]]]]
* ShockingSwerve: "The Mystery of the Missing [X]" series has these as the norm.
** ''The Missing Jade Scepter'' interrupts the elephant detective's introductory monologue by [[spoiler:having a falling chandelier fatally injure him, and the rest of the episode shows him slowly dying in great pain.]]
** ''The Missing Silver Pendant'' has [[spoiler:[[TakeThat George Zimmerman]] barge into the scene and declare the detective to be threatening him, then shoots him dead only to be killed by [[RunningGag the falling chandelier]].]]
** ''The Missing Emerald Necklace'' shocking swerves itself by having [[spoiler:the culprit reveal himself and turn himself in immediately, and the rest of the skit is the detective and culprit awkwardly standing around as they wait for the police to arrive.]]
* TheWoobie:
** George. The poor guy just wants to eat some eggs, but he is constantly dragged into confrontations between his wife and various strange creatures.
** Angela from the "Horse Man" series. She's a dear who receives constant criticism and insult from Horse Man, and he repeatedly forces her to cancel her own activities to participate his own.
