Evolution Studios was a British video game developer based in Runcorn, Cheshire. It was founded in 1999, acquired by [[Creator/SonyInteractiveEntertainment Sony Computer Entertainment]] in September 2007, and shut down on 22 March 2016. They were well known for making games based on the UsefulNotes/WorldRallyChampionship.

The development team of the late studio joined Creator/{{Codemasters}} on 11 April 2016, becoming Codemasters Evo, but after low sales of their next game, ''VideoGame/{{Onrush}}'', some of the staff were laid off and Evo became a support studio for the company called Codemasters Cheshire. On 12 May 2022, Creator/ElectronicArts, who bought out Codemasters in 2021, announced that they merged Codemasters Cheshire into ''VideoGame/NeedForSpeed'' and ''VideoGame/{{Burnout}}'' developer Creator/CriterionGames, officially becoming a second studio for the latter as they had already been working together on the next ''Need for Speed'' game for a while.
