David Gerrold (born January 24, 1944) is an American screenwriter and novelist. Somewhat to his continued annoyance, he is probably most famous for writing the script for the original Star Trek episode The Trouble With Tribbles. He also has written scripts for programs such as Series/LandOfTheLost1974, Series/Sliders, Series/BabylonFive, WesternAnimation/TheRealGhostbusters and Series/TheTwilightZone1985.

He won the Hugo and Nebula awards for his novel Literature/TheMartianChild, which is a fictionalized account of his raising a neurodivergent son as a single gay father, and was adapted into a 2007 movie starring Creator/JohnCusack.

In scifi fandom circles, he is somewhat infamous for his long-unfinished novel series Literature/TheWarAgainstTheChtorr, which depicts Earth being overwhelmed by an aggressive alien ecosystem.
