Core Design, Ltd. was a British video game company founded in 1988 and based in Derby. Originally a developer of Platform/{{Amiga}} games (though many of its early titles were actually MultiPlatform), it started releasing games for the Platform/SegaGenesis, Sega CD and other consoles in 1992.

Core Design was acquired in 1994 by publisher US Gold, which over the next several years became part of Creator/EidosInteractive. Under Eidos, Core Design developed all games in the ''Franchise/TombRaider'' series until 2003, when ''VideoGame/TombRaiderTheAngelOfDarkness'' failed abysmally.

By 2006, Core Design was essentially defunct. The Core Design name and properties remained with Eidos, but the development team was acquired by Creator/{{Rebellion}}, and was re-branded as Rebellion Derby. They were ultimately taken down in 2010 after the critically savaged flop ''Literature/RogueWarrior'', so it's pretty safe to say the Core Design is completely and officially no more. Still, their legacy lives on in more ways than one - similar to the Franchise/SherlockHolmes blue plaque in London, the block of flats where Core's Derby offices once stood [[https://www.gamespot.com/articles/lara-croft-birthplace-gets-blue-plaque/1100-6169591/ has one for Lara Croft]].

Not to be confused with Creator/COREDigitalPictures.
