[[Film/SpiderManHomecoming So.]] [[JustForFun/DescribeTopicHere You got yourself onto Chris Evans' page.]]

Christopher Robert Evans (born June 13, 1981) is an American actor and director.

Evans was initially known for playing [[{{Jerkass}} "smart aleck"]] and [[MrFanservice "pretty boy"]] types, including the desperate [[TheEveryman everyman]] protagonist Ryan in ''Film/{{Cellular}}'', Johnny Storm a.k.a. The [[Characters/FantasticFourTheFantasticFour Human Torch]] in the ''Film/{{Fantastic Four|2005}}'' movies, "Harvard Hottie" in ''Film/TheNannyDiaries'', and Jake Wyler ([[BigManOnCampus "The Popular Jock"]]) in ''Film/NotAnotherTeenMovie''.

Though he's never shied away from more serious roles (''Film/{{Sunshine}}'', ''Film/{{Push}}'', ''London'', ''Film/FiercePeople'', ''The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond''), it was still a great surprise to the mainstream public when Marvel announced Evans as their choice to play the straitlaced and serious-minded ComicBook/CaptainAmerica in their Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse. Of course, despite PlayingAgainstType, he made a splash on ''Film/CaptainAmericaTheFirstAvenger'', ''Film/{{The Avengers|2012}}'' and ''Film/CaptainAmericaTheWinterSoldier'' (particularly the lattermost; as WebVideo/HonestTrailers put it, "Who knew Captain America was so cool?!").

Off the success of these films, Evans practically became the MCU's answer to Creator/ChristopherReeve, growing inextricably associated with his character in ways aided by the fact that his occasional measured-but-outspoken interventions on matters of politics and social justice are pretty in-character for Captain America. In other words, he developed a whole new acting "type". As a result, he perhaps felt the need to start PlayingAgainstType again, which he did by becoming the psychopathic hitman Mr. Freezy in ''Film/TheIceman'' and the gritty AntiHero Curtis in ''Film/{{Snowpiercer}}'' in 2013. In 2014, he made his directorial debut with the romantic-comedy film ''Film/BeforeWeGo''. He confirmed in a profile for ''The Hollywood Reporter''’s April 2019 issue that ''Film/AvengersEndgame'' would be his last time playing Rogers.

Not to be confused with [[Radio/ChrisEvans the British DJ and TV presenter]] who was married to Creator/BilliePiper, nor with fellow MCU Chrises [[Creator/ChrisHemsworth Hemsworth]] and [[Creator/ChrisPratt Pratt]]. He is the older brother of actor Creator/ScottEvans; no relation to Welsh actor Creator/LukeEvans. His is also the nephew of former Massachusetts congressman Mike Capuano.

Between playing Captain America, Johnny Storm, Lucas Lee in ''Film/ScottPilgrimVsTheWorld'', Jensen in ''Film/TheLosers'', Casey Jones in ''{{WesternAnimation/TMNT}}'' and Curtis in ''Film/{{Snowpiercer}}''[[note]]based on a French comic[[/note]], Evans has perhaps portrayed the largest amount of distinct characters in comic book film adaptations.

He married actress Creator/AlbaBaptista in 2023.
