Aziz Ansari began performing stand-up comedy in the early 2000s, after moving to New York City to study marketing at [=NYU=]. His act focuses a lot on mundane everyday activities, pop culture, technology, and his experiences around celebrities such as his friend Music/KanyeWest.

He co-created and starred in ''HumanGiant'', which ran for two seasons on [=MTV=], was in several episodes of ''{{Scrubs}}'' and currently stars in Creator/AmyPoehler's sitcom ''Series/ParksAndRecreation''. In 2009 he played a small but memorable role as an obnoxious stand-up comedian named Randy in Creator/JuddApatow's ''FunnyPeople'', and subsequently signed a deal with Apatow to write and star in three new movies. In 2011, Ansari played one of two main characters (the other being JesseEisenberg) in the comedy film ''Film/ThirtyMinutesOrLess''.
