'''Augsburger Puppenkiste''' ("Augsburg Puppet Chest") is a marionette theatre based in Augsburg, Germany. Established in 1948, it produced its first television show in 1953 and has survived [[LongRunners right up to today]], having celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2008.

It is somewhat of a national treasure to Germans, many of whom under the age of 50 were raised on its puppet films and TV series. These range from traditional [[Creator/TheBrothersGrimm Grimm]] {{fairy tale}}s to ''Literature/OneThousandAndOneNights'' to Wilhelm Hauff. Many of the old productions from the 1960s are still immensely popular and have remained unchanged since their first production.

[[HeAlsoDid What is less known]] is that they also do live performance shows for young and adult audiences, traditionally featuring a cabaret program on New Year's Eve, and having staged many adaptations of classical plays and operas, such as ''Literature/TheLittlePrince'', ''Theatre/DoctorFaustus'', ''Theatre/TheThreepennyOpera'', ''Music/PeterAndTheWolf'', ''Theatre/TheMagicFlute'' and ''DonGiovanni''.
