* AntiHero: Often plays characters with a great degree of moral ambiguity, or at least a distinct {{Jerkass}} edge.
* BadassBeard: He grew a ''[[http://25.media.tumblr.com/9bedb70bb087dafaeb434e7cb3999f1c/tumblr_mvg2e9mubH1rinujvo9_500.jpg very]]'' thick beard just for the hell of it right before the filming of ''Film/TheHobbit'' began. Peter Jackson told him to shave it off, though.
* MrFanservice: He's already being referred to by his ''Hobbit'' co-stars as "sexy dwarf" and "the hot one".
* NamesTheSame: Confusingly, there's a British actor named Aid'''e'''n Turner (note the spelling) who's best known for his time on ''Series/AllMyChildren.'' To make matters worse, he played TheDanza on ''AMC,'' but his character's name was spelled Aid'''a'''n Devane.
** Not to mention that Aid'''a'''n was a ballroom champ in his youth, while Aid'''e'''n was a contestant on the ballroom dancing show 'Series/DancingWithTheStars''.
* PermaStubble: Seems to be his usual state of being.
* RealLifeWritesThePlot: The FingerlessGloves that became so iconic to Mitchell? It was simply because the Bristol set where they filmed ''Being Human'' was absolutely freezing, and he was looking to pile on any extra layer he could. They became so iconic to him that they were eventually explained as he was covering as much of his light-sensitive vampire flesh as he could.
** RealLifeWritesThePlot is also the reason Mitchell was written out of Being Human, because Aidan was cast in ''Film/TheHobbit''.
* VampiresAreSexGods: His performance in ''BeingHuman'' helped to solidify this idea into the minds of British females.
