[[folder:The Heroes]]
'''Sora:''' The cheerful hero with ridiculous hair and even more ridiculous shoes.
* Main/AnimeHair (Sweet Mother. His hair keeps its shape ''underwater''.)
* BackFromTheDead ([[spoiler: Killed himself in order to save Kairi. He turned into a Heartless, but was turned back to normal shortly afterward.]])
* Main/TheChosenOne
* Main/CommonMarySueTraits (Just ''try'' to deny that he doesn't sound like a Nomura self-insert in a Disney crossover fanfic.)
* Main/CuteLittleFangs (When in Halloween Town)
* Main/CuteShotaroBoy
* CutlassBetweenTheTeeth (Wields the Keyblade like this when in the [[TheLionKing Pride Lands.]])
* Main/CutsceneIncompetence (He can mow down 1000 Heartless with ease, but you'd never know it watching some of the scenes)
* DualWielding (Figures out how to do this during Kingdom Hearts 2. [[spoiler: Roxas probably helped.]])
** [[spoiler:Roxas can help even more; during his battle you can steal one of ''his'' Keyblades. ''i.e.'', ''Triple'' Wielding.]]
* Main/TheHero
* [[spoiler: HeroicSacrifice]]
* Main/ImprobableWeaponUser
* Main/KidHero
* Main/MeaningfulName (Sora means "Sky". Prequel character Ventus has a name meaning "Wind" (connection unknown, if any exists). To say nothing of the recurring line "There are many worlds, but they all share the same sky.")
* Main/TheMessiah (Seriously. Name a person he doesn't like that's not a bad guy.)
* MiyuIrino
* RonTheDeathEater, on account of killing members of [[DracoInLeatherPants Organization XIII.]]
* Main/ThePowerOfFriendship (His mantra)
* TheUnchosenOne (He was not the first choice for the Keyblade Master)
* Main/XanatosGilligan (In both games, Sora ends up derailing every single plan involving him. In ''[=KH2=]'', DiZ even makes note of how all plans he had for Sora fell apart once Sora got awakened.)
'''Riku:''' [[Main/EstrogenBrigadeBait Fangirl magnet]] and Sora's rival and best friend.
* Main/AloofBigBrother
* Main/AntiHero (When working with fellow AntiHero [=DiZ=].)
* Main/TheAtoner (From Chain of Memories Onward)
* Main/BadassDecay (Through Chain of Memories up till the end of Kingdom Hearts II.)
* TheChosenOne (Until he screwed it up)
* CursedWithAwesome plus DarkIsNotEvil (Chain of Memories onward)
* DealWithTheDevil (Multiple, when he was a villain)
* DisabilitySuperpower (He spent a considerable amount of time fighting completely blindfolded due to being CursedWithAwesome.)
* FaceHeelTurn (You should know this already. You really should.)
* JumpedAtTheCall (Way too early, and it proved to be his downfall.)
* LaserGuidedKarma (And how. Riku's [[DealWithTheDevil bargain with Ansem for power]] in the first game proves to have devastating long-term consequences for him, both mentally and physically, even after reverting back to good at the end of KH1.)
* MamoruMiyano
* MeaningfulName (Riku means "Earth". Prequel character Terra also means "Earth". Though, it's unknown if there's a true connection there.)
* MikeNelsonDestroyerOfWorlds (Destiny Islands. Oops.)
* MysteriousProtector
* RedemptionDemotion (On the side of evil, he was manipulated into being Maleficent's bitch. On the side of good, he ''willingly'' became DiZ's bitch.)
** Eh. Both times it was in order to try and save one of his friends; first Kairi, then Sora. Maleficent turned him against Sora, but he joined her willingly to save Kairi.
* RivalTurnedEvil ([[HeelFaceTurn He got over it]].)
* TheUnchosenOne (Had to go through a ''lot'' to get a Keyblade again, and even then his obtaining of one wasn't very conventional; he [[spoiler: somehow managed to transform his sword into one.]])
* WhiteHairedPrettyBoy
'''Kairi:''' The love interest, more or less (although [[Main/WordOfGod Nomura said]] he didn't make any pairings canon on purpose.)
* Main/TheChick (Serves as the emotional support/inspiration for both Sora and Riku.)
* Main/CommonMarySueTraits (Comes with being a [[NimbusPrivileges Princess of Heart.]])
* Main/DieForOurShip (dumb Main/FanDumb [[RedundantDepartmentofRedundancy is dumb.]])
* Main/DistressedDamsel
* Main/TheHeart (Hardy har.)
* Main/HeroesWantRedheads
* Main/TheIngenue
* Main/MacGuffinGirl
* Main/MeaningfulName (Kai(ri) means "Sea". Nami(ne) means "Ocean Wave". And prequel character Aqua means "Water". What connection she has to Aqua is unknown, if any exists.)
** Not to mention the Japanese spelling of Xion. Shio(n) means "Tide".
* Main/PluckyGirl (As Axel points out, the girl's got alot of guts.)
* Main/TheScrappy (Usually linked to Main/DieForOurShip. Main/FanDumb ''is'' dumb. Also, she's sometimes hated due to those aforementioned CommonMarySueTraits, but YourMileageMayVary on this, honestly.)
**RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: In ''Kingdom Hearts II'' for many of those who considered her TheScrappy for reasons apart from...the usual.
* ThemeNaming (She, Sora, and Riku are "sea", "sky", and "land". She also shares ocean-themed naming with Naminé and Xion.)
* TookALevelInBadass ([[spoiler: Keyblader Kairi,]] ladies and gentlemen!)
'''Donald Duck''': Sent by King Mickey to find the keyblade, he joins up with Sora to help him save the worlds. He is the court Wizard of Disney Castle.
* HonorBeforeReason (Briefly followed Riku in his evil phase due to a literal interpreation of King Mickey's orders. He realized this was stupid.)
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold
* KoichiYamadera
* Main/SideKick
* TheSmartGuy
* Main/SquishyWizard (in ''spades'')
* Main/TheUnintelligible (if it weren't for the subtitles, you'd have a tough time understanding him. And it's ten times worse in Japanese.)
'''Goofy''': Same deal as Donald. He's the Captain of the Royal Guard of Disney Castle.
* TheBigGuy
* [[spoiler: DisneyDeath]]
* Main/GeniusDitz (More insightful then you'd think)
* HonorBeforeReason (Same as Donald.)
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe
* Main/SideKick
* TakingTheBullet
* Main/TechnicalPacifist (the reason he fights with a shield)
'''[[MickeyMouse King Mickey Mouse]]''': Oh come on, you know who this is. The King of Disney Castle, Mickey recognized [[TheStarsAreGoingOut the signs]] and left on a journey to get to the bottom of it. When he didn't come back, Donald and Goofy set off to find him. Although they meet a few times, Mickey is usually one step ahead of them and has a better idea of what's going on.
Oh yeah, and he's a Keyblade wielder and really, really badass.
* Main/BadassLongcoat. Seriously!
* BigDamnHeroes (He's so good at this, it's a gameplay mechanic!)
* DarkIsNotEvil (Wields the Keyblade of Darkness.)
**Partly true. Only his Kindom Key D is from the realm of Darkness. His Star Seeker (Which is apperntly his original Keyblade) is from the Realm of Light.
* FunnyAnimal (but a helluva lot more serious in this game than in anything else he's ever appeared in... Except for the Italian comics, where he actually PUNCHES people.)
* GlassCannon (In terms of gameplay.)
* LetsGetDangerous ("They'll pay for this.")
* MemeticBadass
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething
* TookALevelInBadass
'''Naminé''': To Kairi what Roxas is to Sora.
* CommonMarySueTraits (Unfortunately for her and everyone else. See "Possession Sue" example below.)
* DemotedToExtra (She was one of the most pivotal characters in "Chain of Memories", but in "Kingdom Hearts II", she was generally less important than any of the other original characters except for Roxas' ThreeAmigos.)
* DistressedDamsel
* FakeMemories (What her powers revolve around)
* HeelFaceTurn (Not that she was ever evil though)
* TheIngenue
* [[MrExposition Miss Exposition]] (To Roxas in Kingdom Hearts II.)
* PossessionSue [[spoiler: A deconstruction. While she is trying to take Kairi's place, it is clearly a damaging thing, and she knows it.]]
* RememberTheNewGuy (Or so it seems...)
* TheScrappy (Usually for the same reasons as Kairi, naturally enough...)
* ShrinkingViolet (For the most part in Chain of Memories until she gains some confidence at the end.)
* ThemeNaming (Her part in the "girls related to Kairi" group is ''nami'' for wave.)
* WomanInWhite
'''Ven, Terra, and Aqua''': Three Keyblade Knights and the main protagonists of the spin-off "Birth By Sleep."
* ActionGirl: While Aqua primarly uses magic she is just as capable as the guys phisicaly.
*EyesOfGold (Terra's eyes are shown switching to this from their usual blue color in the teaser)
*GreenLanternCorps
*MeaningfulName (Sora & Ven(tus) = air, Riku & Terra = Earth, Kairi & Aqua = Ocean)
* MegumiToyoguchi (Aqua)
*[[OnlyKnownByTheirNickname Only Known By His Nickname]] (It's been stated that Ven is short for Ventus)
*ReverseGrip (Ven is seen holding his Keyblade in this style)
* RyotaroOkiayu(Terra)
*SexyBack (Aqua's costume)
*ThemeNaming (Their names mean air, land, and water respectively.)
*TwoGuysAndAGirl

[[folder: The Supporting Cast]]
For the Final Fantasy characters, the same characterization tropes generally apply as in their original games.
'''Aerith:''' Is not dead.
* TheHeart (Of the Hollow Bastion Restoration Comittee.)
* TheMedic (Comes to save Yuffie at one point by healing her.)
* TheOtherDarrin (Played by Mandy Moore in the first game. She was replaced with Mena Suvari for ''Kingdom Hearts II'', [[{{Horrible/Voice Acting}} to the disappointment of the fans.]])
'''Cloud:''' As angsty as ever, he first appears as a hired thug for Hades. He ends up returning to the rest of the Hollow Bastion gang at the end of the first game.
* BonusBoss: Via Colosseum cups.
* GuestStarPartyMember: Just before TheWarSequence, the player fights alongside each of four Final Fantasy characters briefly.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: His relationship here with Sephiroth, it seems.
* TheStoic: [[{{Flanderisation}} Even moreso than he was in his original game.]]
* TakahiroSakurai
'''Leon:''' You may know him as [[FinalFantasyVIII Squall Leonhart.]] He renounced that name when the Radiant Garden was destroyed.
* TheAragorn
* BigBrotherMentor: For Sora.
* BonusBoss: Appears in a few Colosseum matches.
* CharacterDevelopment: His first appearence in Game/KingdomHearts acts like Squall in the beggining of FinalFantasyVIII, but in KingdomHeartsII, it seems like he has gone through all of the development he went through his game, and now shows a more friendly attitude towards others.
* EstrogenBrigadeBait: May in fact be sexier than his [[=FF8=]] self, depending on the viewer. Must be the belts.
* GuestStarPartyMember
* PetTheDog: In the first ''Kingdom Hearts'', he expresses concern over the lost dalmation puppies (literatelly dogs), and later gets Gepetto and Pinnocchio a house when they arrive in Traverse Town.
* TheOtherDarrin: David Boreanaz in the first game, later replaced with Doug Erholtz.
* ThatManIsDead: Refuses to call himself by his real name of Squall because of his guilt over [[DoomedHometown Hollow Bastion.]]
* TheStoic: He gets better after the first game. See CharacterDevelopment above.
* TooManyBelts: He wears them on his ''arms!''
'''Tifa:''' Appears only a couple times, searching for Cloud.
* ActionGirl: But of course!
* BonusBoss: Hades Paradox Cup.
* BoobsOfSteel
* GuestStarPartyMember
* TalldarkAndBishoujo
* PowerFist
'''Yuffie:''' She doesn't steal anything from you this time.
* BonusBoss: Appears in a few Colosseum matches.
* GenkiGirl
* GuestStarPartyMember
* OddFriendship: With Leon.
** Which interestingly enough, led to a lot of {{shipping}} between those two.
* TheOtherDarrin: Christy Carlson Romano is replaced with Mae Whitman in ''[=KH2=]''.
* {{Ninja}}
* YumiKakazu
'''Auron:''' Is exactly as BadAss as he was in ''FinalFantasyX''. He gets summoned by Hades in the Coliseum level in ''[=KH2=]'' who attemts to order him to kill Sora. But he refuses and joins you instead.
* {{Badass}}: Heh, it wouldn't be Auron if he isn't badass.
* BackFromTheDead
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: Does this to Hades.
'''Yuna, Rikku, and Paine:''' Appear as ''fairies'' for some reason. They originally were sent by Maleficent to spy on the heroes, but later switched sides. Rikku was [[http://kingdomhearts.wikia.com/wiki/File:Kingdomhearts-rikku-concept-art.jpg supposed to appear in the first game]], but was replaced with Yuffie to avoid confusion with Riku.
* FunSize
* HeelFaceTurn
* PunchClockVillain
'''Seifer:''' Roxas's rival in the prologue, but not really a villain otherwise. As always, Raijin and Fuujin (Rai and Fuu, here) follow him loyally.
* BareYourMidriff
* JerkJock
* TotallyRadical (Owning lamers.)
Several Disney characters team up with Sora in his travels. Of course, the pages for their movies have more details.
'''Jiminy Cricket:''' He travels with Sora and co. to keep a record of their adventures.
'''Tarzan:''' Joins you in the first game's Deep Jungle.
'''Aladdin:''' Lends Sora and co. a hand in Agrabah in both games.
'''Ariel:''' While Atlantica is visitable in both games, we [[UnexpectedGenreChange don't talk about the second.]]
'''Jack Skellington''': Idol of Hot Topic goths everywhere, he joins you in Halloween Town in both games.
'''The Beast:''' The big furry JerkWithAHeartOfGold teams up with you in the first game when you visit Hollow Bastion. Though you visit his castle in [=KH2=], he doesn't fight alongside you there because he's too busy being manipulated by Xaldin. Unlike most of the [[GuestStarPartyMember guest stars,]] he's one of the more plot critical, assisting in bringing down Maleficient and Xaldin (and can even fight Xemnas in the first game's Final Mix edition.)
* BadassAngster
* {{Determinator}}: He escaped the destruction of his world and made it to Hollow Bastion by sheer force of will.
* KoichiYamadera
* YouShallNotPass: Does this after the first visit to Hallow Bastion. The second visit reveals he survived.
'''Merlin:''' The only non-Final Fantasy member of the Hollow Bastion Restoration Committee. His house is the group's base. He is also Sora's chief mentor in magic.
'''Fa Mulan:''' Sora and co. meet up with her right as she's about to join the army.
'''Minnie Mouse:''' Not a full party member, but kicks serious Heartless hiney when you have to lead her on an EscortMission.
'''Jack Sparrow:''' Sadly, not actually voiced by Johnny Depp. Guess which world he shows up on.
'''Simba:''' He was a summon in the first game; when Sora visits the Pride Lands in [=KH2=], he joins the party for real.
'''Tron:''' Seriously. [[CueCullen Freaking TRON!]]
'''Hayner, Pence, and Ollette:''' Close friends of Roxas, they spend their days hanging out in Twilight Town, putting off homework, and eating ice cream.
[[spoiler: It turns out that Roxas' friends are actually programs in DiZ's simulation, created to keep Roxas happy and distracted while he manipulated him. The trio does exist in the actual Twilight Town (apparently DiZ likes details that much) and they did interact with Roxas a few times in 358/2 Days.]]
[[/folder]]
[[folder: The Villains]]
'''Ansem''' [[spoiler:Did I say "Ansem"? I meant]]'''[[spoiler:Xehanort]]:''' A respected scientist of the Radiant Garden, he became obsessed with TheHeartless. His actions and the consequences of them are the driving force of the series. [[spoiler:Was referred to as Ansem in the first game.]]
* AkioOhtsuka
* AsLongAsThereIsEvil (Besides the fact that he's a Heartless now, [[spoiler: he's still alive inside Riku, and claims that he can't be destroyed because of Riku's darkness.]])
* BigBad
* DeceptiveDisciple (He took the [[spoiler: name of Ansem]] from his former teacher.)
* DemonicPossession
* EldritchAbomination (Being a Heartless and all.)
* EvilMentor (to Riku)
* EvilutionaryBiologist (His experiments on the TheHeartless helped turned them into the army of darkness they are today.)
* EvilSorcerer
* LargeHam (SUBMIT!)
* LegacyCharacter (He's not the first Ansem, and Birth By sleep hints he's not the first Xehanort either.)
* MadScientist
* TheManBehindTheMan
* NietzscheWannabe
* OmnicidalManiac
* OneSteveLimit (A rather complicated aversion: there are multiple Ansems and multiple Xehanorts.)
* [[spoiler: OnlyMostlyDead]] ([[spoiler: Even after being destroyed by Kingdom Hearts, a small piece of himself is still alive in Riku. If Riku ever lets his guard down, Xehanort can regenerate and take over his body.]])
* TheOtherDarrin (Billy Zane in the first game, replaced with Richard Epcar from ''Kingdom Hearts II'' onward)
* SequentialBoss
* SignificantAnagram ("No heart" or "Another" through the same system as the Organization's anagrams)
* WhiteHairedPrettyBoy
'''Maleficent'''
* BackFromTheDead: Never clearly explained.
* EvilIsCool
* EvilMentor: to Riku.
* [[EvilSorcerer Evil Sorceress]]
* LargeHam ("You think you can defeat ME?! ME, THE MISTRESS OF ALL EVIL?!")
* [[ManipulativeBastard Manipulative Bitch]] (or [[MagnificentBastard Magnificent,]] depending on your view): She played Riku like a fiddle, and even with a VillainDecay inducing lack of resources in [=KH2=], she played events to the point that she became an asset in bringing down Organization XIII, establishing herself at the top once more.
* ScaledUp: You fight her dragon form in [=KH1=]- right before ThatOneBoss. To some, she's ThatOneBoss in her own right.
* TheDragon: ''Literally'' turned into one for Xehanort in the first game.
* VainSorceress: Believed herself to be immune to the darkness, and that led to her downfall.
* VillainDecay: In [=KH2=]. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]] due to the circumstances.
** Apparently, she's on top of her game again in ''Coded''.
* VillainOverride: In the first game, she was the BigBad until the climax where she's defeated and it's revealed that "Ansem" is [[TheManBehindTheMan the true villain behind everything.]]
'''The Disney Villains''' A group of classic Disney Villains. In the first game, a group of them conspire under [[SleepingBeauty Maleficent's]] leadership. They are trying to use TheHeartless for their own evil means.
Maleficent's original group includes [[{{Hercules}} Hades,]] [[{{Aladdin}} Jafar,]] [[TheLittleMermaid Ursula,]] [[PeterPan Captain Hook,]] and [[TheNightmareBeforeChristmas Oogie Boogie]]. The second game also introduces [[PiratesOfTheCaribbean Hector Barbossa]], [[{{Mulan}} Shan-Yu]], [[TheLionKing Scar]], and [[{{Tron}} the MCP]], who aren't aligned with Maleficent, although she attempts to recruit/manipulate a couple.
[[AndZoidberg There is also Pete.]]
* AlasPoorVillain (Clayton was technically controlled by the Heartless through his heart's obvious darkness, and Sora, Tarzan, and co. express pity after he's killed.)
* BackFromTheDead (Most of them had to be resurrected after the first game.)
* [[{{Ptitleijqobqvle9an}} BRIAN BLESSED]] (Clayton)
* CoreyBurton (Hook, Sark,and the MCP.)
* EnemyMine [[spoiler: With Sora and co.]]
* EvilerThanThou (They keep running into this. First with Xehanort, then with the Organization.)
* IneffectualSympatheticVillain (Pete)
* JimCummings (Pete)
* LargeHam (Pretty much all of them with the exception of the mostly silent Shan Yu.)
* LegionOfDoom
* VillainDecay (Their story in [=KH2=] is all about them trying to regain their former glory.)
** Hades turned out to be pretty good at avoiding this, though. He goes from BonusBoss to mandatory threat as the series progresses. And even then, he's never really beaten.
*** Then again, he's the nigh immortal God of the Dead, he cannot be truly beaten [[GodOfWar unless....]]
* YouShallNotPass [[spoiler: Maleficent and Pete, much to their chagrin. We still don't know if they survived, but given Maleficen't big role in the series, and the fact that Pete's never really died in any Disney media, it's likely they did.]]
'''Master Xehanort''': The main villain of ''Birth By Sleep.'' Most likely has ''something'' to do with the other Xehanort.
*BadassGrandpa (Just watch the teaser. Disney, what does this guy eat?)
*BaldOfEvil
*BastardUnderstudy (His apprentice, Vanitas.)
*BeardOfEvil
*ChikaoOhtsuka
*EyesOfGold
*LargeHam (Geez, this series ''really'' loves hammy villains, doesn't it?)
*LegacyCharacter
*ObviouslyEvil (not to mention psychotic.)
*OneSteveLimit (How many Xehanorts are there?)
** At least one for every Ansem.
'''Sephiroth:''' The (in)famous ''FinalFantasyVII'' villain appears as a fiendishly hard optional boss in both ''Kingdom Hearts'' and ''Kingdom Hearts II.'' In the latter, there's a bit of a subplot with him and Cloud.
See also [[Characters/FinalFantasyVII his Final Fantasy VII traits.]]
* EstrogenBrigadeBait (Come on, it's ''Sephiroth.'')
* OneWingedAngel (Notably averted, despite being the TropeNamer. This seems to be a trend [[{{Dissidia}} in recent years]].)
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou (He states in ''[=KH2=]'' that only Cloud can "eliminate" him.)
* TheOtherDarrin (Lance Bass--yes, ''[[BoyBand that]]'' Lance Bass--in the first game, George Newbern in the second)
* [[ThatOneBoss That One]] BonusBoss (though his ThatOneBoss status is [[OrSoIHeard diminished]] in ''[[NoExportForYou Final Mix+]]'' by the introduction of Terra, [[spoiler:Roxas]] and the Data Organization XIII.)
[[spoiler: '''Riku Replica:''' Created by Vexen and used as a tool by Vexen, Marluxia and Larxene, and ultimately Axel. Once he finds out that his memories are a fake created by Naminé, he becomes determined to defeat the real Riku and become real himself. You can guess how well that ends.]]
* AlasPoorVillain
* ArtificialHuman
* BetaTestBaddie
* FanNickname: [[spoiler:Repliku]]
* [[spoiler:HeelFaceTurn]], at least during Sora's storyline
* ThatOneBoss
* WhiteHairedPrettyBoy (duh.)

[[folder:Organization XIII]]
[[foldercontrol]]
[[folder: Organization XIII ]]
A group of, yes, thirteen (temporarily fourteen) villains introduced in Chain of Memories and 358/2 Days. When someone with a strong heart is turned into a Heartless, the discarded body gets up with a life and will of its own as a Nobody. This group of particularly powerful Nobodies, who were able to retain human form on top of "existing" in the first place, seeks to regain their hearts at whatever cost.
While the Organization is a pretty varied group, the following tropes are universal throughout the Organization:
*AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Are they evil, or misunderstood? Can they feel emotions, or are they just ''really'' good actors?
* Main/BadassBookworm (Half of the gang were [[Main/MadScientist Mad Scientists]] before they got their Main/EvilMakeover)
* Main/BetaTestBaddie
* Main/BlackCloak
* Main/BlueBishonenGhetto
* Main/DracoInLeatherPants (as a result of [[Main/EvilIsSexy evil being sexy]])
* Main/ElementalPowers (Each Org. member controls an element)
* Main/EyesOfGold (The more dangerous members have these)
* Main/HoYay: Roxas/Axel. Crack Pairings have [[{{Flanderization}} flanderized]] this a bit with the others.
* LetXBeTheUnknown
* LoveItOrHateIt (Organization XIII is a very divisive group of characters among fans.)
* Main/JokeWeapon (All fourteen in ''358/2'''s Mission Mode if they've equipped the Casual Gear; everyone but Roxas/Xion with the Mystery Gear.)
* NamedWeapons
* RedBaron (All of the members except Xion have nicknames to this effect.)
* SignificantAnagram: Their names are actually scrambled versions of their past names with an X added. However, not all of their past names are known, [[spoiler: and Xemnas technically used someone else's name.]]
* ThemeNaming: In ''Days,'' the variations on their weapons are all named after some sort of theme (Marluxia's are all flowers, Larxene's are all in French, Luxord's are mostly Tarot cards, et cetera.)
* Main/ViewerGenderConfusion (Wait... there's only ''one'' girl? ''Which one!?'')
** There's ''two'' girls. ''Two''.
*** [[spoiler: Well, kind of.]]
* YouAreNumberSix (While it definitely indicates order of joining, its significance to actual rank is debatable. For example, nobody cares that Vexen is number four, but he waves it in everybody's faces, as they ignore his whining.)
** Also, Marluxia, who is pretty far down at number eleven, still gets to control half the Organization--[[spoiler:which was retarded, since he got nearly all of them killed and tried to take over the Organization at the same time]].
*** To be fair, [[spoiler:Axel's]] interference probably had a lot to do with that. [[spoiler:They almost had Sora before Axel let Naminé go...]]
** Then there's Saïx, who is number seven but acts as Xemnas's number two, and the real number two, Xigbar, who is a bit of a jokester, especially after {{Flanderization}}.
'''Xemnas:''' The leader of Organization XIII, [[spoiler:the Nobody of Xehanort, Ansem the Wise's first apprentice,]] and the Main/BigBad of Kingdom Hearts 2. He does not appear in ''Chain of Memories'', but he is referred to by others as 'the Superior.'
* Main/BigBad (of ''KingdomHearts II'')
* Main/CrazyPrepared: Usually, in order to effectively play XanatosSpeedChess.
* [[spoiler: Main/DeceptiveDisciple (His betrayal of Ansem the Wise was what caused him and the rest of the apprentices to turn into Nobodies in the first place.]]
* EvilSorcerer
* FanNickname: [[HoYay Mansex,]] due to an unfortunate anagram.
* AGodAmI
* JokeWeapon: Fans.
* LargeHam (while still being TheStoic.)
* LaserBlade: His [[strike:lightsabers]] ethereal blades, Interdiction.
* MagicKnight
* MagnificentBastard (In ''358/2 Days'' at least. We won't spoil how.)
* MoralEventHorizon (His manipulation of Xion and his utter lack of compassion for the rest of the group.)
** And how he tries to throw the ''entire universe'' into nothingness before the final battle in [=KH2=].
* NietzscheWannabe (Though it's sort of justified since he's a Nobody and therefore a being that is not supposed to exist.)
* NorioWakamoto (His Japanese voice actor...one of the reasons he can still be a LargeHam.)
* RedBaron: The Superior of the In-between.
* SequentialBoss: Turned UpToEleven.
* TheStoic (Most of his lines are spoken in an unemotional drone.)
* XanatosSpeedChess (He's very good at this.)
* WhiteHairedPrettyBoy
'''Xigbar''': Number II (though not apparently second-in-command), one of the founding members of the Organization. Although he acts like a surfer dude most of the time, he's actually one of the deadliest members of the group.
As a human, he was Braig, [[spoiler: one of Ansem the Wise's six apprentices.]]
* AffablyEvil
* BifurcatedWeapon (He can combine his weapons to form a sniper rifle. This got cut in later editions to keep things kid friendly.)
* BunnyEarsLawyer
* ColdSniper: Maybe. Depends on whether you believe he's truly emotionless.
* [[spoiler:DeceptiveDisciple]]
* DeadpanSnarker
* EyepatchOfPower
* FanNickname: Like Xemnas' Mansex, Xigbar has the unfortunate anagram of "Bigrax." Also, Demyx uses a [[FandomNod fan nickname]] in ''358/2 Days'', calling Xigbar "Xiggy."
* GoodScarsEvilScars
* GunsAkimbo
* TheGunslinger: His Arrowguns, Sharpshooter.
* HochuOtsuka
* JokeWeapon: Hair dryers and trumpets.
* TheNicknamer
* ObfuscatingStupidity (He's probably one of the Organization's smarter members, particularly in regards to Xemnas' plans and the Keyblade.)
* RedBaron (The Freeshooter)
* {{Skunk Stripe}}s
* SurferDude (But not just ANY old dude... whatever ''that'' means.)
* TeleportersAndTransporters
* WhereDidTheyGetLasers
'''Xaldin''' Number III of the Organization and one of its founding members. He spends most of his time trying to corrupt [[BeautyAndTheBeast the Beast]] for the Organization's purposes.
In his past life as Dilan, [[spoiler: he was one of Ansem's six apprentices who betrayed him by researching the Heartless.]]
* BigOlEyebrows
* BladeOnAStick: His lances, Lindworm.
* BlowYouAway
* TheBrute: Like Lexaeus, not stupid.
* [[spoiler: DeceptiveDisciple]]
* GoNagaiSideburns
* {{Jerkass}}: In ''358/2 Days''. Just try to find a scrap of his dialog that isn't insulting you or ordering you around. And let's not forget his [[KickTheDog attitude toward the Beast...]]
* JokeWeapon: Broomsticks.
* ManipulativeBastard: Spends most of his time playing with Beast's head to try and turn him into a Heartless AND a Nobody for the Organization.
* MemeticMutation (his sideburns are practically a character of their own)
* RedBaron (The Whirlwind Lancer.)
* [[DualWielding Sextuple Wielding]]
* TheSadisticChoice: "What shall I leave behind? Belle... or the rose?"
** For the record, ''[[ActionGirl Belle]]'' [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome chooses the rose.]]
*** To be fair to Beast, he had already chosen Belle just before that.
* ThatOneBoss (Often brought up as an example, despite Mickey being able to [[MercyMode save you]])
** Note that he's the only org member that Mickey will save you for. And that he can only do it thrice. On Proud Mode, you ''will'' need that.
'''Vexen''' Number IV of the Organization and one of its founders. The group's resident scientist, he's always interested in new test subjects for his experiments.
Before he became a Nobody, he was Even, [[spoiler: one of the six apprentices of Ansem the Wise who betrayed him by researching the Heartless and destroying the Radiant Garden.]]
* AnnoyingLaugh ([[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHy99AllPMk Here.]])
* {{Costanza}} (Villainous example.)
* [[spoiler: DeceptiveDisciple]]
* EvilutionaryBiologist (This seems to be his specialty, with his creation of [[spoiler:Riku Replica and Xion.]]
* [[spoiler:FamilyUnfriendlyDeath]] ([[spoiler: Either stabbed in the back or immolated.]])
* FourIsDeath (He's the first of the Organization to be destroyed.)
* [[spoiler: HisNameIs]] ([[spoiler: He ends up being executed by Axel for trying to tell Sora about Roxas.]])
* AnIcePerson
* {{Jerkass}} (He ''loves'' to insult everyone's intelligences.)
* JokeWeapon: A pot lid.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: His shield, Frozen Pride.
* MadScientist
* RedBaron (The Chilly Academic.)
'''Lexaeus''' Number V of the Organizatio and one of its founders. While he's content with standing aside and letting Zexion do the talking, he's a lot more intelligent and powerful then he seems.
In his past life as Aeleus, [[spoiler: he was one of Ansem's treacherous apprentices.]]
* AnAxeToGrind: His "axe sword" Skysplitter.
* TheBrute But not stupid.
* DishingOutDirt
* [[spoiler:DeceptiveDisciple]]
* FumihikoTachiki
* GeniusBruiser
* MightyGlacier
* TheQuietOne
* RedBaron (The Silent Hero.)
'''Zexion''' Number VI in the Organization, and one of its founding members. In his previous life as Ienzo, [[spoiler: he was the youngest of Ansem the Wise's apprentices.]]
During Chain of Memories, he tried to corrupt Riku so he could use him to counter Marluxia's coup.
* AkiraIshida
* BadassBookworm (Literally!)
* TheChessmaster
* [[spoiler:DeceptiveDisciple]]
* MasterOfIllusion
* NonActionGuy and TheUnfought (spends more of his time plotting than fighting, [[spoiler: but that changes in "Final Mix", though even there his fighting methods are rather unconventional.]])
* PeekABangs (But he's ''not bloody emo'', damn it.)
* RedBaron (The Cloaked Schemer)
* SmugSnake
* SquishyWizard
* TeenGenius
* ThrowTheBookAtThem: His lexicon, the Book of Retribution.
* TomeOfEldritchLore: All of his lexicons, judging from their names.
* VillainousBreakdown
* WhiteHairedPrettyBoy: Well, more silver, really. [[HairColorDissonance And kind of purple-ish too...]]
'''Saïx''': Number VII in the Organization. Second-in-command to Xemnas and responsible for overseeing every other members' missions. Underneath his stoic exterior is a raging berserker just waiting for Xemnas to cut him loose.
[[spoiler: It's revealed later that he was once close friends with Axel. The two even planned to overthrow the Organization together, with Saïx becoming Xemnas' right hand to facilitate this plan. However, he lost sight of his goal and truly became Xemnas' ally, then turning on Axel.]]
* [[spoiler: AlasPoorVillain]]: "Kingdom Hearts...where is...my heart?"
* AxCrazy: In his berserk mode.
* [[spoiler: BecomingTheMask]]
* TheBerserker: Under [[{{Lunacy}} the light of the moon]]. It's also one of the more effective ways to play him in ''Days''.
* BigFancySword: His claymore, Lunatic.
* BetaTestBaddie He exemplifies this more then any other member of the Organization.
* [[BlueOniRedOni Blue Oni]]: To Axel's Red Oni.
* CriticalHit: His specialty in ''358/2 Days''--his Critical % and Crit Bonus stats are maxed but his other stats are slightly above mediocre.
* TheDragon
* [[spoiler:DragonWithAnAgenda (In 358/2 Days, until he lost sight of it)]]
* GoodScarsEvilScars
* KickTheDog (His horrendous treatment of Xion.)
** He pretty much crosses the MoralEventHorizon when he [[spoiler: sets up a mission with the purpose of having Roxas and Xion fight each other and one of them get slain just so he can see which one of them is better for the Organization's plans.]]
* KirkThornton
* {{Lunacy}} (powers his [[SuperPoweredEvilSide even MORE Super Powered Evil Side]] with moonlight)
* PoisonousFriend: [[spoiler: to Axel at first]]
* RedBaron (The Luna Diviner)
* TheStoic
** NotSoStoic: '''"ALL SHALL BE LOST TO YOU!"'''
'''Axel:''' Org XIII's 8th member. Spent ''Chain of Memories'' being awesome and then [=KH2=] being... obsessed with a fifteen-year-old boy. [[spoiler:''Days'' reveals his Other's name to have been Lea.]]
* AntiVillain (He's a straight up villain at first, but changes due to his friendships with Roxas and Xion.)
* CatchPhrase (''Chain of Memories'' it was the robotic-sounding "Commit it to memory." [=KH2=] retranslated it as the more natural-sounding (but no less annoying) "Got it memorized?")
* CharacterDerailment (Went through both BadAssDecay and VillainDecay in [=KH2=])
** The CharacterDevelopment he gets in ''358/2 Days'' seems to justify some of this, however.
* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder: Don't even ''try'' to deny it.
*[[spoiler: DroppedABridgeOnHim (Unexpected and a bit pointless, in some people's opinion.)]]
* DemotedToExtra: A major character in ''Chain of Memories'' and ''358/2 Days''; surprisingly inconsequential in ''Kingdom Hearts II.''
* DragonWithAnAgenda
* EnsembleDarkhorse
* EvilRedHead
* KeijiFujiwara
* LetsGetDangerous ("You really do remember me this time? I'M SO FLATTERED.")
* LittleBlackDress
* LovableTraitor (He [[spoiler:and Saïx]] were planning on betraying Xemnas, which meant he also needed to get in good with Marluxia and Larxene and then betray them so that they won't betray Xemnas first. And he's just so cool in doing all this.)
* [[ManipulativeBastard Manipulative]] and/or MagnificentBastard (He ''killed'' one of his own just to get close to the leader...so he could betray the leader as well.)
* PlayingWithFire
* PoisonousFriend (His obsession with "helping" or "protecting" Roxas rarely corresponds with what Roxas actually wants.)
* QuintonFlynn
* RedBaron (The Flurry of Dancing Flames)
* [[spoiler: RedemptionEqualsDeath]]
* RingsOfDeath: His chakrams, the Eternal Flames.
* SavedByTheFans (He was originally going to die in the prologue of [=KH2=], but ended up lasting most of the game instead because of fan reaction.)
* StalkerWithACrush (Or at least borderline it...)
'''Demyx''' Number IX of the Organization. While he is more capable then Sora is willing to give him credit for, he's laughably [[IneffectualSympatheticVillain bad at being a villain]] and kind of a wimp.
* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: In ''spades''. Is he a wimp, or just an underachiever? Coward or reluctant badass?
* ChaoticNeutral: "You ever get the urge to just do something stupid... and AWESOME?"
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass (Or so it seems...)
* {{Dismotivation}}
* EightiesHair
* EnsembleDarkhorse: He's got just TWO scenes in [=KH2=], but you wouldn't know that looking at his fanbase...
* InstrumentOfMurder: His Sitar, Arpeggio.
* KenichiSuzumura
* LaughablyEvil (He has no qualms about committing evil deeds...but he's usually ''really'' bad at carrying them out.)
* LovableCoward (Especially in 358/2 Days, in which he's a lazy coward who bribes Roxas to do missions for him...but he's just so ''funny'' while being this.)
* MakingASplash
* MusicalAssassin
* NotSoHarmless
* PunchClockVillain: More interested in writing songs then being evil.
* RedBaron (The Melodious Nocturne)
* ThatOneBoss ('''''DEFEAT 10 FORMS IN 10 SECONDS!''''')
** '''''[[MostAnnoyingSound "DANCE WATER DANCE!!!"]]'''''
* ThrowItIn (Pretty much his entire personality was created by his Japanese voice actor doing this.)
'''Luxord''' Number X. He's suave, has a delicious British accent and he likes card games. He views life as a game and has all the [[IncrediblyLamePun time]] in the world to win it.
* AffablyEvil: He's just so damn ''polite''.
* BalefulPolymorph: He and his Gamblers can turn Sora into a card or a die, severely cutting offensive power.
* BeardOfEvil
* DeathDealer: His deck of cards, Fair Game.
* FakeBrit
* TheGambler
* JojiNakata
* ManOfWealthAndTaste
* RedBaron (The Gambler of Fate)
* SatelliteCharacter (His main purpose in the game is to fill the position of Number X.)
* TimeLimitBoss
* TimeMaster (Although we only see him use it to give his battles a [[TimedMission time limit.]])
'''Marluxia''' Number XI, recruited by Xigbar and Xaldin. He is given charge of Castle Oblivion and attempts to engineer a coup against Xemnas with the help of Larxene and the presumed help of Axel.
* BigBad (Of Chain of Memories.)
* GreenThumb
* LargeHam (Still has nothing on Xemnas though.)
** Sadly, not so much in the US version, in which his voice actor gives a more restrained performance.
* MagicKnight (''358/2 Days'')
* ManipulativeBastard: Not as [[MagnificentBastard magnificent]] as Xemnas, Axel, or [[spoiler:Saix]] and not as [[SmugSnake smug]] as Zexion or Vexen, but fairly in the middle.
* PetalPower
* RealMenWearPink (His attribute is ''flowers.'' Plants in general presumably, but mainly flowers.)
* RedBaron (The Graceful Assassin)
* SinisterScythe: His scythe, Graceful Dahlia.
* SpinToDeflectStuff
* TheStarscream
* ShuichiIkeda
'''Larxene''' Number XII of the Organization and close ally of Marluxia. Gleefully sadistic, she enjoys tormenting others for the fun of it.
* AxCrazy
* BlondesAreEvil
* DarkActionGirl
* FragileSpeedster: Larxene is pretty vulnerable to attacks, provided you can catch up to her.
* HairAntennae
* {{Jerkass}} : She has [[YukoMiyamura the Japanese]] [[HeyItsThatVoice voice]] of [[NeonGenesisEvangelion Asuka Soryu]] for crying out loud!
* KickTheDog: Literatelly kicks Sora to the ground twice, hits the Riku Replica when he charges at her and later throws him aside while he's unconcious, and bitch-slaps Namine. Generally, this trope seems to be her hobby.
* KnifeNut: Her knives, Foudre.
* PsychoElectro
* PsychoForHire
* RedBaron (The Savage Nymph)
* ShockAndAwe
* TheSmurfettePrinciple (The only girl in the Organization before Xion came along. [[spoiler: And depending on your interpretation of Xion, she may still be.]]
* YukoMiyamura
'''Roxas:''' Number 13 in the above. Think he's critical to the plot? A mysterious Nobody able to wield the Keyblade, he defected when he realized that the Organization (sans Axel, though at the time Roxas doubted even that) cared nothing for him.
[[spoiler: He's also Sora's Nobody.]]
* AntiVillain (While working with the Organization)
* DefectorFromDecadence
* DualWielding (he uses two keyblades as his WeaponOfChoice)
* HeelFaceTurn (He was sort of strong-armed into it, though.)
* FanNickname (Was referred to as Blonde-Haired Kid or BHK based on promotional material before his name was revealed)
* HolyHandGrenade
* LightIsNotGood (though he gets better)
* LittleBlackDress
* TheMario (''358/2 Days'')
* RedBaron (The Key of Destiny)
* RedemptionDemotion (Though more because he has amnesia then because he left the Organization.)
* ReplacementScrappy (There were players who did ''not'' like starting out as him in Kingdom Hearts II...)
* TheSixthRanger
* [[spoiler: SplitPersonalityMerge]] [[spoiler: With Sora.]]
* TomatoInTheMirror
* TrademarkFavoriteFood (Sea-salt ice cream.)
* TheWoobie
'''Xion''' The 14th member of the Organization, introduced in 358/2 Days.
* AntiVillain
* [[spoiler: AlasPoorVillain]]
* [[spoiler: AxeCrazy]] Once she [[spoiler: snaps and you have to fight her, her combat style can best be described as reminiscent of Zant from ''[[TwilightPrincess The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess]]''. What's worse is that she has access to ''alot'' of weapons; one of which you even set up for her at Agrabah a few missions back!]]
* BetaTestBaddie
* BreakTheCutie (Xemnas, you bastard...)
* [[spoiler: CloningBlues]]
* CommonMarySueTraits (From a character description, one would think Xion is a Mary Sue straight from a bad fanfic. Thankfully, as you can see below, this isn't the case.)
* CopyCatSue ([[spoiler: Deconstructed in the worst way imaginable for the poor girl.]])
* DieForOurShip - Is it not bad enough that she [[spoiler: actually DOES die?]]
* [[spoiler:DyingAsYourself: Xion transforms into some kind of creature when you battle her, but returns to normal as she dies.]]
* [[spoiler:GenderBender]] ([[spoiler: Overheard on Fandom Secrets: "So does that make her a futa?"]])
* [[spoiler:GoMadFromTheRevelation]] Twice-subverted. She [[spoiler: initially resists such a proposition despite the pain she feels, until Xemnas interferes in an attempt to force her to absorb Roxas. Not that he actually succeeded - she's only [[ObfuscatingInsanity feigning insanity]] because she needed Roxas to destroy her artificial body so she could return to Sora, where she (quite lucidly) decided that she belonged.]]
* LightIsNotGood
* TheLoad: She's a fairly weak fighter and has to be supported alot on missions. However [[spoiler: it turns out this is intentional, as Xion is designed to grow stronger through absorbing memories of Sora from Roxas, which in turn makes Roxas weaker.]]
* TheMario (''358/2 Days''. Her ''only'' differences from Roxas are that she can't dual-wield, and she takes less damage from [[spoiler:her boss form's attacks]].)
* MeaningfulName: She's named after a flower (''shion'') that symbolizes remembrance.
* [[spoiler: OppositeSexClone]] (Of [[spoiler: Sora/Roxas. She started off genderless and was ''supposed'' to become male due to absorbing Sora's memories through Roxas. However, Xion wound up absorbing Sora's memories of Kairi and became female as a result.]])
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap (One of the most universally hated characters by the fandom '''''before her game was even released.''''' Then they found out her story...)
** Sadly, this trope isn't applying that much to the Axel/Roxas fanbase...
* [[spoiler:RetGone (Only Xion knows that she herself existed. She stays happy with memories of friendship with Axel and Roxas.)]]
* SignificantAnagram ([[spoiler:"No.''i''"]])
* [[spoiler: SplitPersonalityMerge]] [[spoiler: With Roxas, and later Sora by extension.]]
* ThemeNaming (Her part in the "girls related to Kairi" group is ''shio'' for tide.)
* [[spoiler:WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds]]

[[folder: Other]]
'''[=DiZ=] [[spoiler:Ansem The Wise]]''' An enigmatic figure who aids Riku and Naminé. A man working against the Organization, he is willing to use rather questionable means to meet his goals. [[spoiler: It turns out that he's actually Ansem the Wise, the teacher of Xehanort, trying to atone for the atrocities done by Xehanort and Xemnas in his name, and for the aforementioned questionable actions he committed in the process.]] Oh, and he's voiced by ''[[CueCullen Christopher]] [[ChristopherLee Lee.]]''
* AntiHero (Everything he does is to aid the cause of good, but his obsessive desire for revenge causes him to take several less than heroic actions in doing so, which many others suffer for.)
* TheAtoner (Once he realizes the above.)
* [[spoiler: ClearMyName]] (His motivation.)
* TheChessmaster
* ChristopherLee (WTHCastingAgency indeed)
* CoolOldGuy
* TheDumbledore (Not nearly as much these days, but he's still got a couple quirks.)
* EvilSoundsDeep (subverted. He has the world's greatest villain's voice, but he's actually an AntiHero.
* FunWithAcronyms (''D''arkness ''i''n ''Z''ero)
* GadgeteerGenius
* GoodIsNotNice
* {{Jerkass}} : Regarding Roxas, though he does [[spoiler: apologize for it in the end, shortly before his HeroicSacrifice.]]
* KickTheDog (His manipulation of Roxas and ordering the execution of Naminé.)
* [[spoiler: LegacyCharacter]]
* MaskPower
* RedRightHand
* RonTheDeathEater: Granted, DiZ ''was'' a revenge-driven asshole but he had reasons for it (he was in the darkness for so long) and he genuinely attoned for it in the end [[spoiler: with a HeroicSacrifice.]] Yet much of the FanDumb ''still'' see him as an irredeemable racist monster who is more evil than [[spoiler: the guy who took his name!]].
* [[spoiler: RedemptionEqualsDeath]]
* StealthMentor (To Riku.)
* TrademarkFavoriteFood (Sea-salt ice cream.)
