This is the character sheet for ''Anime/ZoidsNewCentury''. It's got quite a few for such a relatively short series, so enjoy!

[[folder:Blitz Team]]
!!Bit Cloud
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/TakahiroSakurai (Japanese), Creator/RichardIanCox (English), Rodolfo Vásquez (Latin Spanish)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bitcloud.png]]
The series protagonist, Bit begins the series as a drifter in the slow process of gathering enough parts to build himself a zoid partner. His plans change when he meets the Blitz Team and the Liger Zero takes a shine to him; he decides to join the team and partner up with Liger Zero. Though understandably inexperienced when he first starts out, Bit manages to pull his weight through a combination of {{Hot Blooded}}ness and [[TheFool sheer happenstance]]; opinions differ, both in universe and without, on whether he's an IdiotHero or a master of ObfuscatingStupidity. Either way, it's not long before his opponents stop underestimating him, and he eventually grows into a talented warrior in his own right.
* AccidentalPervert: Walks in on Leena while she was bathing, while in a towel himself. [[HilarityEnsues This doesn't]] [[UnprovokedPervertPayback end well]] [[OhCrap for him]].
* AnimalMotifs: Lions, as his zoid Liger Zero shows.
* HotBlooded: Bit's overenthusiastic combat style is the key to his success; Jamie once tried to model Bit in combat simulations and he did ''worse'' when programed to act more "intelligently".
* IdiotHero: Bit fits the bill in the beginning of the series (unless you believe his apparently idiocy to be [[ObfuscatingStupidity a ploy]]), but grows out of it as he gains experience.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Not even the other characters can decide if Bit is this or just a [[IdiotHero lucky bastard]] in the early episodes.
%%%* RedIsHeroic: His pilot suit have a red jacket.
* RookieRedRanger: Bit is the newest member of the pre-existing Blitz Team, but swiftly becomes key to the team's success.
!!Brad Hunter
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/MasayaMatsukaze (Japanese), Creator/SamuelVincent (English), Andrés Scoknic (Latin Spanish)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/balladhunter.png]]
A calmer, more professional counterpart to Bit, Brad is a mercenary who technically isn't a permanent member of the Blitz Team, but none the less remains with them for the entire length of the series. Concerned first and foremost about prize money, he generally avoids fights he isn't being paid for, but that doesn't stop him from helping out when necessary. He pilots a Command Wolf for most of the series, but obtains the Shadow Fox near the end.
* AnimalMotifs: His first zoid is Command Wolf, his second is Shadow Fox. Overall, this gives him a clear association with canids.
* BlueIsHeroic: His pilot suit have a blue longcoat.
* CombatPragmatist: Brad won't resort to the kind of underhanded tricks the Backdraft Group does, but he still won't think twice about shooting an opponent who makes the mistake of taking their eyes off him.
* DubNameChange: Named Ballad in the Japanese version.
* EveryoneHasStandards: He may be a mercenary, and he can sometimes refuse to fight if he sees there's not much pay involved, but he's not interested in having anything to do with the Backdraft Group, even if they offer him better pay and better Zoids.
* {{Expy}}: Of Irvine from ''[[Anime/ZoidsChaoticCentury Chaotic Century]]'', a mercenary member of the good guys team who starts out in a Command Wolf but eventually upgrades to a powerful new prototype once it's destroyed (Irvine to the first Lightning Saix prototype, Brad to the Shadow Fox).
* FakeDefector: When his Command Wolf is trashed and he finds himself in Layon's company, he's offered the Shadow Fox in exchange for working for him instead and challenging Bit one-on-one. While he does take the opportunity to duel Bit to break the Zoid in, Brad reveals he secretly registered it under the Blitz Team, completely conning Layon, never having any intention of betraying the Blitz Team.
* TheLancer: His relationship to Bit.
* MidSeasonUpgrade: From the Command Wolf to the Shadow Fox.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Or so he claims, anyway. He's not mercenary enough to simply abandon his team simply in exchange for potentially better employment and a better Zoid.

!!Leena Toros
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/AyakoKawasumi (Japanese), Creator/KellySheridan (English), Amaya Forch (Latin Spanish)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rinontoros.png]]
The Blitz Team's resident firepower aficionado, Leena ''really'' enjoys shooting her opponents a ''whole lot''. Rather self-absorbed, she's at least as concerned with her personal pilot ranking as she is with the Blitz Team's success as a whole. She pilots a Dibison at first, but later upgrades to a ''heavily'' customized Gunsniper. She's also the object of Harry Champ's affections, which she alternately bemoans and shamelessly uses to her advantage. Leon is her brother; Dr. Toros is her father.
* AceCustom: Her Gunsniper is so heavily customized as to barely resemble the original robot.
* ActionGirl: She's not as skilled or successful as her teammates and is easily taken out of a fight more than once. However, Leena has won battles as the last (wo)man standing(Which involves taking out her own teammates).
* AnimalMotifs: The Dibison is modeled after a bison. The Gun Sniper, on the other hand, resembles a dinosaur. The latter resembles her much more, considering the Gun Sniper is a small Zoid...practically covered in artillery, befitting that looks wise, you wouldn't expect her to be TheBigGuy.
* TheBigGuy: Fits the trope in terms of personality and combat role, if not physical traits.
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: Her heavily-customized Gunsniper will fire every weapon on it ''except'' the sniper rifle.
* DisproportionateRetribution: She's fond of it, particularly toward Bit. She's gone so far as ''[[PervertRevengeMode using a zoid to blow up the Jeep he was desperately fleeing in]]'' when he accidentally walked in on her in the bath.
* DubNameChange: Named Rinon in the Japanese version. One episode in the English dub even kept the name on Harry's parachute even!
* ForceAndFinesse: Among the two Gunsniper users, she's most definitely the brute force.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: When facing Vega and the Berserk Fury during the Royal Cup, Leena knew her Gunsniper was out-classed and out-gunned, and when the Fuma Team arrived and prepared to use their Charged Particle Cannons on Vega, Leena, knowing the threat those powerful weapons posed, [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere turned tail and fled]] for the Hover Cargo as her Gun Sniper would not survive the CPC energy discharge and she would be killed.
---> '''Dr. Laon:''' Ch-Charged Particle Cannons?! That's insane!
---> '''Steve Toros:''' Weapons like that will annihilate the Berserk Fury and everything in the surrounding area! (horrified gasp) Leena! Leena! You're in serious danger! Get outta there NOW!!
---> '''Leena Toros:''' I know, Dad! I'm trying!
* TheLoad: Outside of one battle, Leena was damn near useless in the Dibison. Once she ditches it for her [[MidSeasonUpgrade heavily customized]] [[MoreDakka Gunsniper]], her overall performance [[TookALevelInBadass increases dramatically]].
* MsFanservice: Not quite to Naomi's extent, but the several [[ModestyTowel towel]] and [[BeachEpisode swimsuit]] scenes throughout do show off her curves pretty well.
* MoreDakka: Her entire battle "strategy". Jamie notes that when the Backdraft Group's Warsharks are waging psychological warfare on the team, her fighting cautiously and trying to conserve ammo are actually ''hurting'' her battle performance as a whole.
* PinkMeansFeminine: Subverted, while her pilot suit is pink, her personality is far for being feminine. [[{{Trigger Happy}} Very far]].
* RoseHairedSweetie: A Subversion, while Leena is rose-haired, she is no sweetie.
* TriggerHappy: She will wildly open fire on everyone, even her own teammates when angry.
* {{Tsundere}}: ''Heavily'' leaning toward the violent, angry end of the scale. The number of times her sweeter side comes out can be counted on one hand.

!!Jamie Hemeros
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/MitsukiSaiga (Japanese), Creator/BillSwitzer (English), Creator/RenePinochet (Latin Spanish)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jamiehemeros.png]]
Jamie is the Blitz Team's strategist, combat coordinator, and assistant to Dr. Toros. He also acts as a pilot occasionally, being the only member of the team with an aerial zoid, but he is not particularly skilled in this department. Despite this, he is extremely devoted to his beloved Pteras, and bemoans its being repeatedly shot down in combat. Dr. Toros eventually trades the Pteras in for a much more capable Raynos. Taking the Raynos into combat brings out another side of the rather meek Jamie; known as the Wild Eagle, this personality is much more confident and aggressive (though not particularly more ''skilled'') than his normal self.
* AnimalMotifs: Both of his zoids have been based on pterosaurs.
* CovertPervert: After [[AccidentalPervert Bit walks in]] on a bathing Leena and [[UnprovokedPervertPayback promptly gets his ass kicked]], Jamie checks in on the commotion. Just as he tries to wake a knocked out Bit, he gets a good look at Leena, and then proceeds to [[MaleGaze scan over her nude body]]. [[UnprovokedPervertPayback This also does not end well for Jamie]]. This part of the scene was {{Bowdlerise}} out of the English dub.
* RunningGag: Jamie shouting some variation of "My poor Pteras!" after it's shot down... which happens every time it's launched (whether Jamie's at the controls or not).
* TheSmartGuy: In his role as tactical planner and mission control for the Blitz Team. Given who he has to work with, they ignore his advice as often as not.
* SplitPersonality: The Wild Eagle, which only emerges during aerial combat after having broken the sound barrier.
* SplitPersonalityMakeover: The Wild Eagle somehow has swept-back hair, thicker eyebrows and a different facial shape compared to Jamie's normal style.
* ThirdPersonPerson: The Wild Eagle not only insists that everyone call him [[SpellMyNameWithAThe The Wild Eagle]], he refers to ''himself'' as that as well.
--->''"The Wild Eagle [[BadassBoast is immortal]]!" *[[PartingFromConsciousnessWords thud]]*''

!!Doctor Steven Toros
!!!Voice Actor: Daiki Nakamura (Japanese), Creator/RonHalder (English), John Knuckey (Latin Spanish)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/doctoros.png]]
Dr. Toros is the Blitz Team's sponsor and nominal leader, though he tends to let Jamie handle the battle planning. Remarkably immature for a middle-aged man with a doctorate degree, he frequently makes decisions based on what would be coolest, and can often be seen playing with [[ProductPlacement model zoids]] (lovingly rendered in the same 3D CG as the real things). Those who underestimate him do so at their peril, however; he can be unexpectedly shrewd (especially when it comes to money) and is genuinely gifted when it comes to upgrading and customizing zoids. He is Leena and Leon's father.
* AnimalMotifs: The one Zoid he consistently uses is the snail-like Hover Cargo.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: The man is goofy and immature. But make no mistake he's genuinely competent at inventing and repairing Zoids and their components. He's even able to see through Bit's unorthodox strategies for the most part.
* DeflectorShields: The Hover Cargo has a surprisingly durable energy shield, capable of tanking at least a quick burst of the Berserk Fury's primary charged particle cannon.
* MadScientist: He has definite traits of it, though he's much more mild about it than most examples.
* ManChild: The largest part of Jamie's job description as Dr. Toros' assistant seems to be ''babysitter''.
* PapaWolf: During the Royal Cup, when Steve sees Leena in grave danger after Vega and the Berserk Fury take down Jamie, he orders Dr. Laon to hold his fire as Laon was attacking the Hover Cargo at the time, and when the Fuma Team prepare to use their Charged Particle Cannons against Vega and the Fury, realizing the danger they posed, Steve orders Leena back to the Hover Cargo ''immediately'', knowing her Custom Gun Sniper would not survive the combined explosion as its armor was not strong enough to endure the CPC energy discharge and he did not want to lose his daughter.
--> '''Steve:''' Leena! Leena! You're in serious danger! Get out of there now!\\
'''Leena:''' I know, Dad! I'm trying!
* TeamDad: He has some elements of this, when it breaks through his immaturity.

!!Liger Zero
A rare Liger Zoid purchased by Toros. Possessing an a unique sentience, he refused to allow anyone to pilot him so the Blitz Team never used him. Surprisingly the Liger Zero allowed Bit to pilot him, allowing the two to become the ace of the Blitz Team. Gradually the Liger Zero is revealed to a legendary Zoid called an Ultimate X that possesses the ability to learn and adapt to battles.

* AdaptationalBadass: The Liger Zero was described as a powerful Zoid in the Battle Story by virtue of having the vitality and instincts of a purebred wild Zoid, but it is otherwise portrayed as an ordinary mass produced machine. In the anime, the Liger Zero is a unique legendary Zoid capable of [[AdaptiveAbility learning on its own and growing more powerful each time it loses.]]
* AwesomeButImpractical: Liger Zero Panzer. It easily has the strongest weapons, with its cannons piercing the upgraded DeflectorShields on the Elephander when even the Schneider failed, it's armor is virtually indestructible and possess a deadly array of missiles. But the armor and weapons are so heavy that the Liger can barely move and sheer weight puts such strain on the Liger if it not ejected it could actually damage it.
* BoringButPractical: The Liger Zero Jaeger. It doesn't have any additional weapons like the Schnieder or Panzer, but it does greatly enhance the Liger's speed. Despite Bit not being impressed by it at first, would go onto to be the most used of the armors.
* TheChooserOfTheOne: As an Ultimate X, the Liger Zero will only allow certain pilots to use him.
* CloseRangeCombatant: Outside of the Panzer, Liger Zero relies almost entirely on close range weapons.
* CoolButInefficient: Is initially seen as this by the rest of the Blitz Team. The Liger Zero is fast and manuverable, but lacks any long range weapons. This changes after Bit defeats Naomi.
* EleventhHourSuperpower: When facing Leon and his Blade Liger, the Liger Zero Schneider comes up with a new move called the Seven Blade Attack where it attacks with [[ExactlywhatItSaysOnTheTin all seven of its blades at once]].
* FlatCharacter: Since the Liger Zero's main role is to act as Bit's Zoid, only he can understand the few bits of dialogue the Liger does get, he has little characterization to speak of.
* FragileSpeedster: the Jager CAS is much faster and more manuverable than the basic Zero but isn't as durable, as seen by comparing their respective fights against the Berserk Fury.
* PantheraAwesome: He is a lion Zoid, despite being referred to as a liger.
* NoSell: The Panzer's armor allowed it to take MacrossMissileMassacre from the Elephander without a scratch.
* SatelliteCharacter: He's Bit's Zoid, and has no role beyond that.
* SignatureMove: Strike Laser Claw for the base unit and the Jaeger, which has instantly [=KOed=] any target not protected by DeflectorShields, save the Berserk Fury.
** As the Liger Zero Schneider, the Buster Slash, which proved able to cut through the Elephander's DeflectorShields, something the Strike Laser Claw bounced off.
* WorfBarrage: The Strike Laser Claw is typically enough to end a match, slicing a limb off an opposing Zoid if it lands a solid hit. When Bit was forced into one on one match against the Elephander, the attack harmlessly bounced off the Elephander's shield.
** Liger Zero Schneider's Buster Slash was in its debut able to cut into a giant tornado, and later proved strong enough to cut through the Elephander's shield where the Strike Laser Claw failed. In the final match with the Elephander, its new shield is too strong even for the Buster Slash to cut through, and the Elephander's own LaserBlade even breaks on of the Schnieder's blades.
** Liger Zero Panzer's cannons proved strong enough to not only pierce the Elephander's new shield where the Liger Zero's Buster Slash failed, but the shockwaves sent the massive Zoid flying into the air while their recoil propelled the Liger in reverse. In the final battle with the Berserk Fury, they proved useless against its shield.

[[folder:Zoid Battle Commission]]
!!Judge
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/JinHorikawa (Japanese), Creator/ColinMurdock (English)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/judgeman.png]]
Actually a series of identical robots, the Judge supervises all sanctioned battles. The law on the battlefield, the Judge's decisions are final. Deployed to battlefields by [[ItsRainingMen dropping from a judge satellite]] in a [[DropShip judge capsule]], which rockets them back into space once the battle is complete.
* TheChewToy: The longer the series goes on, the more abuse the Judge gets. It's hilarious precisely because of the Judges' previously established dignified and professional demeanor.
* ColorCodedCharacters: The Judges, their capsules, and their satellites are all solid white, as opposed to the Dark Judge's black.
* CombatReferee: It is his job to make sure all battles are sanctioned and follow the official rules. His first duty is approve the battle mode (usually 0-9-8-2).
* TookALevelInBadass: After several episodes of being bullied by the Backdraft Group, the Judge has enough during the battle with the Shadowfox, wrestling the Dark Judge into submission and firing a KillSat upon the villains.
-->'''The Judge''': ''My word is the law on the battlefield!''

!!Tigers Team
!!!Voice Actors: Michio Miyashita (Kirkland), Takatsugi Awazu (Omari) and Creator/JinHorikawa (Lineback)(Japanese); Alejandro Trejo (Kirkland) and Pablo Ausensi (Omari) (Latin Spanish)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tigersteam.png]]
A trio of warriors named Kirkland, Omari, and Lineback, they pilot Saber Tigers. The first episode features them nearly defeating the Blitz Team (who gain a respite due to Bit's illegal presence on the battlefield), but during the rematch Bit and the Liger Zero join midbattle and defeat them. This marks the beginning of a painful losing streak for the Tigers, despite several attempts to break out of it, such as joining forces with Dr. Layon (twice). Eventually they change their name to the Zaber Fangs in an attempt to shed their bad luck.
* BookEnds: They have their first win in series, when they were trying to capitalize on Leon's tripped Zoid, postponed/invalidated due to Bit appearing on the field. In their last match in series, [[spoiler: the entire team trips, costing them the match]].
* ButtMonkey: They ''never'' catch a break.
* EmbarrassingNickname:
** Bit decides that the Tigers' problem is that their name [[NonindicativeName doesn't fit their team]], and makes several helpful suggestions for a more appropriate one, like the "Fuzzy Pandas Team".
** They manage to get into the Royal Cup on a wild card, but when they try to battle the Blitz Team, [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments the Judge announces them as the Fuzzy Pandas team.]] This causes their Zoids to FaceFault, ''freezing their combat systems'' and thus eliminating them from the tournament. The judge quickly declares the Blitz Team the winners in an embarrassed tone and retreats to his judge capsule.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The Zaber Fangs, their new team name, is an alternate translation for the Zoids they pilot, the Saber Tiger.
* ThemeNaming: The three warriors are named after players for the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanshin_Tigers Hanshin Tigers]], a Japanese baseball team with an enthusiastic fanbase despite a reputation for being "cursed", similar to the Chicago Cubs.

!!Naomi Flugel
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/RioNatsuki (Japanese), Creator/SaffronHenderson (English)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/naomifluegel.png]]
The leader of the Flugel Team and one of the first opponents faced by the Blitz Team after Bit joins, Naomi pilots a customized Gun Sniper. Unsurprisingly, she specializes in sniper duels, special matches were warriors are allowed only six rounds of ammunition each. At first she habitually picks up random rookie pilots to fill out her team roster, content to use them as decoys while she does all the actual fighting herself, but late in the series she recruits Leon Toros as her partner, resulting in a potent short range/long range duo.

* AceCustom: Her Gun Sniper is red in contrast to the blue paint job that all the others have in the series.
* BadassLongcoat: Her main attire (or something close to it) when not battling.
* BoobsAndButtPose: In the original Japanese opening sequence.
* CripplingOverspecialization: She specializes in long range combat and doesn't consider the possibility an enemy could face her in close range.
* FatalFlaw: {{Pride}}. She's not smug, but being a pilot whose never lost prior to facing the Blitz Team has gone to her head. When Brad brings up her [[CripplingOverspecialization only focusing on long range combat]], she dismisses the possibility anybody could in close range to her, despite Bit having managed to do so previously. Not surprisingly, she gets ambushed in the same episode by an enemy waiting for in a good sniping position and needs Brad to save her.
* ForceAndFinesse: Being the Gun Sniper user actually using the Zoid for its intended purpose, she's definitely the finesse. Even when not sniping, she's a lot less hot-headed than Leena in general.
* FriendlySniper: Totes the line between this and ColdSniper, but still falls more on the "friendly" side. She's perfectly cordial and friendly to the Blitz team [[note]]far more so than they often are with each other[[/note]] and her temporary teammates in her first appearance.
* GuysSmashGirlsShoot: As Leon's partner she lets him get up close and personal with his Blade Liger while she does her usual job of sniping from afar.
* LadyOfWar: A beautiful, renowned Zoid warrior who is cool and confident in battle, using her Zoid as a sniping machine to attack from afar.
* MsFanservice: Easily wears the most revealing battle uniform in the series.
* OneWomanArmy: In her first appearance the only reason she even needs teammates is due to the rules of the battle requiring a full team. She hires two girls who are clearly inexperienced pilots just to fill out the roster and then proceeds to mop up everyone on the Blitz team by herself. Even Bit only wins by the skin of his teeth.
* ShipTease: She has a definite thing for Brad, but it's never explored whether he returns her feelings.
* ShoutOut: She has many references to [[Franchise/{{Gundam}} Char Aznable]]. Her custom Gunsniper is red, and she's nicknamed the Red Comet, but she doesn't otherwise resemble Char in terms of personality of backstory. Amusingly, her theme song is titled "Here Comes the Red Comet!", a reference to Char's theme from ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam'', "Here Comes Char!".

!!Harry Champ
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/WataruTakagi (Japanese), Creator/BradSwaile (English), Pablo Ausensi (Latin Spanish)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/harrychamp.png]]
The leader of the Champ Team, composed of himself and his two robots, Benjamin and Sebastian. He usually pilots a modified Dark Horn, but has "everything from a Gojulas to Cannon Tortoises" in his hanger, and by the end of the series he's switched to an Iron Kong. Harry is the heir to a vast fortune, and uses this to his advantage in the world of Zoid battles. He is hopelessly infatuated with Leena, and her lack of reciprocation generally only inspires him to new heights in his quest for her love.
* CatchPhrase: "My name's Harry Champ! I'm a man destined to be king!"
* DisneyDeath: Shields Leena from the explosion of a charged particle cannon in the penultimate episode. At first it seems like he dies from being wounded but he turns out to be completely unharmed. Also Leena neither notices nor cares about his attempted HeroicSacrifice.
* Fiction500: He owns almost every Zoid imaginable, and the ones he does use most often tend to be heavily modified. After losing them all to the Backdraft Group, access to the family fortune allows him to easily replace them. When the Liger Zero is stolen, Harry organizes a small army of Zoids to find it while stating this was just a drop in the bucket. There doesn't appear to be any limit on what he can buy.
* TheFool: He has ''amazingly'' good luck (as evidence by his first encounter with Jack Cisco and his wild card entry into the Royal Cup) despite his relative mediocrity as a Zoid pilot, though not to the point of being BornLucky.
* LonelyRichKid: Though he's the heir to an unspeakably vast fortune, his best friends are a pair of robots (that he built himself), and he seems to be interested in Zoid battles primarily as something to do with his time between pining for Leena and having more money than God.
* PrinceCharmingWannabe: Calls himself a "man destined to be king" and has an entitlement complex towards his love interest, Leena.
* PrivilegedRival: He is from a rich family, while his rival Bit (and the other members from the Blitz Team) suffers from PerpetualPoverty.
* StrongButUnskilled: He's not particularly skilled, instead posing a threat thanks to his money giving him access to top of the line weaponry and Zoids.
* TakingTheBullet: Jumps in front of the explosion from three charged particle cannons to shield Leena, before being shoved out of the way by Laon in his Whale King. He survives.
* UnclePennybags: Never above using his wealth to help people. Or even to buy some sweet Warsharks for a beach party.
* UpperClassTwit: A very benign example, but still an example.

!!Benjamin and Sebastian
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/benjaminandsebastian.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:From left to right: Benjamin and Sebastian.]]
Two robots custom-built for Harry, but that doesn't stop them from being entirely human in terms of personality. They're Harry's only real friends, as well as being pilots for the Champ Team and general assistants for Harry. Benjamin is the taller one and pilots a modified Stealth Viper; Sebastian is the shorter one, and pilots a customized Heldigunner. Both later upgrade to Iron Kongs. They get a DayInTheLimelight episode late in the series when Benjamin falls in love with a Judge robot -- a ''specific'' Judge robot -- and Harry and Bit help unite the pair.
* AmbiguouslyGay: Benjamin's love interest in the original Japanese version was [[ShesAManInJapan not as obviously female as in the American]].
* BattleButler: Both of them act as Harry's domestic servants as well as his battle partners. And that's before we meet a certain [Manga/{{BlackButler}} demon butler!
* BullyingADragon: Benjamin steals Harry's Whale King to find the judge he was in love with caused him to pick a fight with a [[TheJuggernaut Ultrasaurus]]. The Whale King's guns [[NoSell have no effect]] on the Ultrasaurus, which easily shots down the Whale King with it's '''much larger''' cannons.
* {{Determinator}}: Benjamin, when pursuing the Judge he'd fallen in love with.
* HeyThatsMyLine: Sebastian tends to steal battle lines from Harry.
* RidiculouslyHumanRobots: Both have emotions, feelings, and all sorts of other human things. Benjamin even fell in love.
* RobotBuddy: The only friends Harry ever made, before meeting the Blitz team.
* ThoseTwoGuys: They mostly hang around and provide running commentary on Harry's patheticness during episodes where he appears.

!!Jack Cisco
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/KeijiFujiwara (Japanese), Creator/BrianDrummond (English), Jorge Lillo (Latin Spanish)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jacksisco.png]]
A professional mercenary and notorious zoid warrior, Jack fights for a paycheck. Not concerned solely with money, he's somewhat picky about the clients he takes on. Jack pilots a Lightning Saix, a cheetah-like zoid capable of reaching staggeringly high speeds. In his first appearance, Harry hires him to help defeat the Blitz Team. In later appearances, he joins forces with the Tasker sisters, two additional Lightning Saix pilots.
* GracefulLoser: While he's rather proud, having never lost prior to going up against the Blitz Team, he takes his defeats well.
* [[HiredGuns Hired Gun]]: As with Brad, he fights for cash. Unlike Brad, he doesn't favor a particular team... at least at first.
* ScrewTheMoneyIHaveRules: Jack is very picky with his clients. It's not enough for them to offer him large sums of money, they also have to prove they have a certain amount of luck. He also doesn't like sticking to clients who get their Zoids wrecked trying to imitate his moves.
%%* TheStoic
* SurroundedByIdiots: Views most of his clients this way since they try to mimic the high speed moves of his Lighting Saix, even it's beyond the ability of their Zoid. It's implied this is what got Zoids of the clients seen in his introduction wrecked.
* StrongAsTheyNeedToBe: He and Bit are evenly matched in their first outing. In their rematch, Bit fails to land a single blow on him. When they face each other in the Royal Cup, Bit wins in a fight that largely recycles the animation from their first fight.
* TheWorfEffect: After he defeats Bit in a rematch, he's easily defeated by Vega to demonstrate his skill.
* WorthyOpponent: He considers Bit this, as one of the few pilots who instinctively understands the nature of high-speed battles such as those between the Lightning Saix and the Liger Zero Jager.

!!The Tasker Sisters
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/RyokaYuzuki (Japanese, Chris), Kumiko Higa (Japanese, Kelly), Creator/KellySheridan (English, Chris), Farrell Spence (English,Kelly), Keyros Guillén (Latin Spanish, Chris), Gianina Talloni (Latin Spanish, Kelly)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/taskersisters.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:From left to right: Chris and Kelly.]]
Chris and Kelly Tasker, two sisters that form the Lightning Team. They pilot Lightning Saix, specializing in high-speed battles. Jack Cisco joins them after his defeat with Harry, reasoning that working together with other top pilots will help increase his own skills. The Tasker sisters themselves don't get much screentime, but the Lightning Team is notable for being the ''only'' group to defeat the Blitz Team throughout the entire course of the series.
* AlwaysIdenticalTwins: It's not actually explicit that they're identical twins, but they look very similar even by the standards of siblings, and they're virtually interchangeable in terms of personality, so it's certainly a reasonable assumption.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: They prove this in their first appearance, by solidly trouncing the Blitz Team and inspiring them to greater heights.
* LadyOfWar: Both sisters are very calm, precise pilots with a professional demeanor.
* SatelliteCharacter: They exist as Jack Cisco's teammates, and have no role beyond that.
* VillainForgotToLevelGrind: They aren't villains, but the trope still applies. In their first outing against the Blitz Team, only the Liger Zero Jaeger had the speed to pose a threat to them. In the rematch, the presence of the Shadow Fox changed that and allowed Brad and Lena to defeat the two. Aside from that they also expected the same tricks they used on the Blitz Team in the first fight to still work, not realizing they had improved.
* TheWorfEffect: Despite defeating the Blitz Team in their debut, the two are easily defeated by Vega and the Berserk Fury to show off how dangerous he is.

!!Leon Toros
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/SusumuChiba (Japanese), Creator/TedCole (English)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/leontoros.png]]
Originally a member of the Blitz Team, he leaves when Bit joins in order to WalkTheEarth and grow as a Zoid warrior. Originally piloting a standard Shield Liger, he returns to the fray late in the series with a red Blade Liger. Rather than rejoining the Blitz Team, he chooses to partner with Naomi Flugel, primarily in order to test his skills against Bit. Together the pair form a dual rivalry with Leena (Gunsniper to Gunsniper) and Bit (Blade Liger to Liger Zero Schnieder). The two do well in battle, making it all the way to the Royal Cup.
%%%* TheAce: Of the Blitz Team before Bit joined.
* BrokenAce: As told via flashback when he shows up in the show again, his battles after leaving the Blitz Team ''did not'' go well for him. He's at his lowest point when the Blade Liger finds him.
* MasterSwordsman: Or the giant animal robot pilot version, at least.
* TookALevelInBadass: He wasn't a bad pilot before, but once he leaves the Blitz team and gets his Blade Liger he becomes one of the strongest pilots in the series.
* WorthyOpponent: Bit's, specifically to the Zero Schnieder.

[[folder:Backdraft Group]]
!!Dark Judge
!!!Voice Actor: Soichiro Tanaka (Japanese), Creator/SamuelVincent (English)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/darkjudge.png]]
The Backdraft Group's answer to the Zoid Battle Commission's Judge robot, this [[PaletteSwap solid black]] version officiates the Backdraft Group's unsanctioned battles. Since unsanctioned battles have no rules to speak of, this means he basically exists to signal a Backdraft takeover of a sanctioned battle by [[DeathFromAbove dropping directly on top of the ZBC Judge]], harass the enemy team during battle, and declare the eventual winner. Transparently biased in favor of the Backdraft Group, the only reason this doesn't cause more problems is that there are no rules to enforce anyway, though on at least one occasion he had to be coerced at gunpoint to admit that the Backdraft Group lost the battle.
* {{Catchphrase}}: "This battle has been taken over by the Backdraft Group!"
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: The Dark Judge is identical in appearance to the ZBC Judges, except black.
* EvilCounterpart: He's a dark mockery of the real Judge, even declaring that the battle mode is "0-9-9-9", which is the only one he ever uses.
* LargeHam: He's a judge whose loud announcements put the regular judges to shame.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: In one match he's on the receiving end of this. The white judge climbs up onto the Dark Judge's capsule (it had landed on his) and ''beats the tar out of his dark counterpart.''
* SoreLoser: He '''hates''' announcing the Backdraft Groups' opponents as winners and becomes increasingly displeased with the Blitz Team's victories over the Backdraft Group. At first he reluctantly announces them as the winners, and once only did so because Toros threatened to '''shoot him''', which led to the Dark Judge throwing a fit while annoncing that the Bltiz Team had won.

!!Polta
!!!Voice Actor: Koichi Nagano (Japanese), Creator/ScottMcNeil (English)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/majorpolta.png]]
The leader of the Backdraft Group's Gold Team and the first member of the group encountered by the Blitz Team. He eventually becomes Altail's primary subordinate.
* BeleagueredBureaucrat: His role after becoming Altail's right hand man, though in more of a military "executive officer" style than the standard civilian "desk jockey" style.
* TheChewToy: Nothing ''ever'' goes right for the poor guy.
* CoolShades: A distinguishing pair that you never see him without.
* PityTheKidnapper: When he captures Leena in his first appearance, he ends up having to put the Blitz Team on hold during the ransom call in order to help his men restrain her. He returns to the call visibly worse for wear, but handles the entire situation with admirable dignity.

!!Stoller Stigma
!!!Voice Actor: Shunsuke Sakuya (Japanese), Creator/ScottMcNeil (English), Roberto Farias (Latin Spanish)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stigmastoller.png]]
Leader of the Backdraft Group's Elephander Team, he is an unusually honorable man for a member of the Backdraft Group. Eventually tiring of the Backdraft's ways, he defects with the Elephander and joins the Zoid Battle Commission to fight the Blitz Team as a legitimate warrior.
* AffablyEvil: Despite working with the Backdraft Group he doesn't resort to any dirty tricks and he's surprisingly polite to his opponents.
* CurbStompBattle: Using the Elephander he inflicts the most one sided beat downs in the series to Bit and the Liger Zero, without even using the Elephander's gun. Things change when Bit switches the Schnieder, which had the power to break the Elephander's DeflectorShields. In the rematch, the upgrades to the Elephander mean the Schneider is outclassed because not even it can break through the improved shield.
* DefectorFromDecadence: His reason for leaving the Backdraft Group.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: When Altile tells him he plans to wipe the Liger Zero's memories and reprogram it to be obediant, as well as put Bit in a situation where he'll almost certainly die (and expects Stoller to carry it out), he's visibly horrified. This sparks him to abandon Backdraft.
* GrandTheftPrototype: When he defects from Backdraft out of disgust for their tactics, he keeps the Elephander.
* KickTheDog: In response to the team who was going to face the Blitz Team refusing to fight the Elephander despite Stoller's offer of a much greater sum of prize money, he has their Zoids shot.
* KnightOfCerebus: Stoller is one of the few characters in the series who is nearly humorless and completely serious throughout his appearances in the show. His first battle against Bit was taken [[DarkerAndEdgier far more seriously]] than most in the series, showing that Stoller meant business.
* WorthyOpponent: Considers Bit to be his, to the point of joining the ZBC just for a chance to fight him again.

!!Sanders
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/KentaroIto (Japanese), Matt Smith (English; not [[Series/DoctorWho that one]]), Carlos Carvajal (Latin Spanish)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sanders.png]]
Stoeller's subordinate, he pilots the Elephander during its first appearance. Loyal to Stoeller specifically, rather than the Backdraft Group as a whole, he joins Stoeller in defecting.
* CallingYourAttacks: An odd version, in his first appearance, he controls the Elephander entirely through voice commands, as a %%%voluntary handicap.
* NumberTwo: To Stoller.

!!Altile
!!!Voice Actor: Soichiro Tanaka (Japanese), Creator/DonBrown (English)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/majoraltile.png]]
One of the major players in the Backdraft Group, his obsession with the Ultimate X Zoids eventually leads to his disgrace. Even after he actually finds an Ultimate X, he's brushed aside in favor of its assigned pilot, Vega Obscura, and his caretaker Sarah. He organizes a coup attempt utilizing the Fuma team, but fails and falls with the rest of the Backdraft Group.

* DudeWheresMyRespect: Despite being one of the bad guys, it's hard not to feel sorry for him when he gets shoved aside after finding the Berserk Fury. No wonder why he tries to upstage Sarah.

!!Pierce

The Backdraft Group's air combat specialist, she first appears piloting a Zabat when the Backdraft steal the Liger Zero. Later, she reappears in a Stormsworder, and acts primarily as a rival for Jamie (as the Wild Eagle) in the Raynos. She enjoys Zoid battling for its own sake, and joined the Backdraft primarily because she finds no-rules fighting more enjoyable than the Zoid Battle Commission's regulated matches. Eventually she tires of them, and appears to trade in her Zoid for a motorcycle. She's last seen [[spoiler:toasting the Blitz Team's Royal Cup victory with Stoeller and Sanders]].

!!Sarah
!!!Voice Actor: Keiko Aizawa (Japanese), Creator/EllenKennedy (English)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sarah_10.png]]
A high ranking Backdraft commander and Vega's manager. She is calculating and ambitious, and comes up with a plan to take over the Zoids Battle Commission, and very nearly succeeds. Though she is cold and manipulative towards everyone else, she shows a maternal side towards Vega.

* BigBad: Takes over a the main antagonist once Vega shows up.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: She's cold and ambitious, but she loves Vega like her own son.
* MamaBear: Very protective of Vega. When he tried to use the Berserk Fury's Charged Particle Cannon to finish the job after beating the Blitz and Lightning teams, she calls him off, reminding him the Fury will NOT survive the CPC recoil without its armor and it's best to withdraw for now. He accepts, even if he didn't like it.
* NonActionBigBad: Her cunning, ambition and ability to curry favour with the committee are what make her such a threat. Unlike Altile she's never even seen piloting a Zoid.
* TheStarscream: Successfully usurps Altile's position once Vega is introduced.

!!Vega Obscura
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/MotokoKumai (Japanese), Alex Doduk (English), Creator/RenePinochet (Latin Spanish)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vegaobscura.png]]
Known as the King of Unsanctioned Battles, Vega is an amazingly talented pilot and fighter in spite of his age. He views Zoid battles simply as a game to amuse him, and brings down the Blitz and Lightning team ''simultaneously'' in his first appearence. He's chosen to pilot the Berserk Fury, a ''Tyrannosaurus rex''-type Zoid and an Ultimate X just like the Liger Zero.

* AmbiguousInnocence: Despite his polite and friendly demeanor he shows no compunctions against moves that could kill his opponents, or firing on the Blitz Team's Hovercargo.
* ArchEnemy: To the Blitz Team.
%%* BrilliantButLazy
* CavalierCompetitor: He's mostly friendly to his opponents but he has no compuctions against resorting to murder to win.
* ChildProdigy: He's a child but is also the best pilot in the Backdraft Group and the most dangerous rival to the Blitz Team.
* CounterAttack: His initial style is to weight for his opponent's to attack and then launch a counter attack.
* CurbStompBattle: Defeats the Blitz Team and the Lighting Team in his debut, with the most either team managing is to leave a small scratch on the Berserk Fury. The only reason Bit makes it out is because Vega attempted to kill Bit with the Berserk Fury's [[WaveMotionGun Charged Particle Cannon]], something Sarah warns is too dangerous with only the basic unit as without its armor, the Fury would not survive the recoil.
* TheDragon: To Sarah, whose advancement is based heavily on his success.
* EasilyForgiven: He tries to blow up the Blitz Team's Hover Cargo and murder them all, yet Bit doesn't hold it against him.
* FriendlyRival: To Bit.
* InexplicablyAwesome: He's a child who is the best pilot in the Backdraft Group for completely unexplained reasons.
* InvincibleVillain: Vega is an ace pilot who can easily counter almost any attack launched on him.
* PunnyName: Too close to "Vague Obscure" to be an accident.
* RememberTheNewGuy: He's the top warrior in the Backdraft Group, whose existence wasn't even some much as foreshadowed prior to the last few episodes before despite their determination to defeat the Blitz Team.

!!Berserk Fury
A ''Tyrannosaurus rex'' Zoid found by the Backdrafter Group. Like the Liger Zero he is an Ultimate X, and only allows Vega to pilot him.

* AdaptationalBadass: Vega's Berserk Fury is much stronger than its counterparts in the Battle Story or Zoids Fuzors. It's able to accurately shoot down targets in orbit, withstand a triple charged particle cannon assault, and even burrow through an Ultrasaurus. In contrast, Wolff's Berserk Fury is defeated by Ray Gregg's Liger Zero twice, and Blake's Berserk Fury never wins a single battle against RD.
* ArmorIsUseless: Averted. The Berserk Fury's armor allows to survive a hit from the Liger Zero's Strike Laser Claw, something no other Zoid managed, to the face no less, though the armor is cut off from the attack.
* AxCrazy: When Vega was knocked out in the final battle, the Berserk Fury lives up to his name and goes ballistic, firing wildy with its Charged Particle Cannon.
* BloodKnight: Vega could have simply run to the finish line with the Berserk Fury in the final episode, but the Berserk Fury turned around to face the Blitz Team when he sensed their approach. Vega wasn't bothered when he realized it.
* TheChooserOfTheOne: Like the Liger Zero, the Berserk Fury only allows a select few to pilot him.
* DeflectorShields: The two claw weapons equipped to him with his armor can both generate a shield so powerful that the converging blast from their Geno Saurer's Charged Particle Cannons can't break it, despite the blast causing a massive explosive that ripped Laon's Whale King in half. For all practical purposes, the shield is inpenetrable, and part of why Vega loses is because he loses half of it.
* DubNameChange: For ''very'' understandable reasons, and not having the Battle Story as somewhat of a justification, this was definitely not going to be called "Berserk ''Fuhrer''" in English.
* EvilCounterpart: To the Liger Zero.
* FlatCharacter: Since he is a SatelliteCharacter to Vega, who only appears in a few episodes. The Berserk Fury likes fighting and is highly aggressive without his pilot to hold him in check. That's about it.
* KnightOfCerebus: Once the Backdraft Group finds him, Vega using the Berserk Fury to hand the Blitz Team their only loss in the series besides their battle with the Lightning Team.
* LightIsNotGood: He is clad in pale lavender armor, but he is owned by the [[NebulousEvilOrganization Backdraft Group]] and as said above, he has an AxCrazy and BloodKnight attitudes.
* MeaningfulName: '''Berserk Fury'''. When Vega isn't around to hold him in check, he will fire at everything in sight.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: '''Berserk''' '''FURY'''.
* PurpleIsPowerful: Looks almost white, but is actually an extremely pale shade of lavender.
* SatelliteCharacter: He's Vega's Zoid, so and is never seen without him aside from when Vega is knocked out.
* WaveMotionGun: His Charged Particle Cannon. It's so powerful he has to anchor himself to fire. When armed with his two claws, he can fire two from them as well, on top the claws having powerful beam weapons. The Charged Particle Cannons are an instant kill weapon, so naturally Vega never actually hits another Zoid with them, the closest being the Fuuma Team, and even then the shockwave from the beams still disabled their Zoids. The weaker beams were still enough to easily disable the Shadow Fox.

!!Doctor Laon/Layon
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/YuichiNagashima (Japanese), Creator/MichaelDobson (English), Marco Antonio Espina (Latin Spanish)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/drlaon.png]]
An old friend of Dr. Toros and Jamie's dad Oscar, their friendship soured after an incident involving a woman. Now Laon is obsessed with revenge against Toros, trying to prove himself to be the better man by besting Toros' team in zoid combat. He eventually joins the Backdraft Group in order to gain access to more resources to pour into his vendetta.
* CoolShades: He wears them every once in a while.
* EveryoneHasStandards / EvenEvilHasStandards: In Episode 25, during the Royal Cup, when he sees the Fuma team preparing to use their Geno Saurus Charged Particle Cannons on the Berserk Fury, even Laon realizes that is going too far.
---> '''Dr. Laon:''' [[OhCrap Ch-Charged Particle Cannons?!]] That's insane!
* KnightOfCerebus: Despite his [[LaughablyEvil comedic moments]] he's easily one of the most dangerous antagonists in the show and will resort to any tricks in his obsession to defeat Toros. The Backdraft Group also becomes much of a threat after he joins and lends his genius to designing their Zoids.
* LaughablyEvil: His demeanor can summed up as "like Toros, but evil."
* OffScreenVillainDarkmatter: He has no stated source of income during his first two appearances, yet he's built weather control devices, an anti gravity device, a custom Whale King with an arsenal of guns, and it's loaded with a personal army of Zoids.
* ReplacementGoldfish: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. Leena appears to be this for her MissingMom. Unlike with her mother though, which were romantic, Laon's feelings for Leena come across as more paternal, willingly putting himself in harms way to protect her, and refusing to ever knowingly endanger her.
* TheRival: To Dr. Toros, due entirely to a misunderstanding.
* RivalTurnedEvil: He has shades of this from the beginning, but it's really confirmed when he joins the Backdraft Group.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: He apparently loves ramen.
* UnbalancedByRivalsKid: He and Toros (unintentionally) competed for the hand of the same woman, who chose Toros and would become Leena's mother. Laon has a soft spot for Leena because he sees her as the daughter that should have been his.
* VillainousRescue: Saves Leena from the explosion caused by the Fuma Team's attempt to kill Vega by throwing his Whale King in front of it.

!!Oscar Hemeros
!!!Voice Actor: Yukimasa Kishino (Japanese), Creator/BrianDrummond (English)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/oscarhemeros.png]]
Jamie's dad, and an old friend of Doctors Laon and Toros. He was a talented aerial Zoid pilot, until he had a major crash in his Raynos, and he never flew again...
* DeadAllAlong: Inverted. Despite his debut episode teasing that his crash killed him, Oscar is still alive. He just didn't fly anymore.
* LegacyCharacter: While he was a Raynos pilot, he was known as "The Wild Eagle". It's unknown if he explicitly passed the title on to his son or not.
%%* NotQuiteDead
* PlayingCyrano: Laon asked Toros to write a love letter, but Toros couldn't do it, and had Oscar write it. Mistakenly, he signed it with Toros' name, and Toros was the one who wound up marrying the woman. Laon actually isn't nearly as mad at Oscar about the whole thing.

!!Mary Champ
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/AkikoHiramatsu (Japanese), Creator/LisaAnnBeley (English), Gianina Talloni (Latin Spanish)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/marychamp.png]]
Harry's sister, she appears in a single episode and tries to convince Harry to give up Zoid battling and return to the family. Harry refuses, citing his "relationship" with Leena, who Mary demands to meet. Harry introduces her to the Blitz Team; she's not impressed with Leena, but becomes enamored with Liger Zero. Challenging the Blitz Team to a Zoid battle with Liger Zero as the prize, Mary joins Harry in battle after outfitting the Champ Team with high performance (and expensive) equipment like Iron Kongs and powerful missiles. They lose anyway, and Mary leaves Harry to his Zoid battles, with shiny new equipment and the renewed support of his family.
* DumbassHasAPoint: Despite her RichInDollarsPoorInSense mindset, she is nearly vindicated by thinking the richest fighter is the best fighter as well, since her expensive, high-end equipment very nearly hooks her her victory against the Blitz team, losing against them certainly more narrowly than most times Harry's team had challenged them.
** She says Harry should give up on his pursuit of Leena. [[HopelessSuitor She's not wrong]].
* MacrossMissileMassacre: Her preferred tactic, something that even ''Leena'' comments on.
* NukeEm: She even launches what looks like an SRBM at the Liger Zero that is many times larger than the Iron Kong she is piloting, which certainly produces a big enough bang that the Jager ''barely'' [[OutrunTheFireball gets away from]]
%%%* TheOjou
* RichInDollarsPoorInSense: She arbitrarily decides that the richest team are automatically the best Zoid warriors, and challenges the Blitz Team to a battle for possession of the Liger Zero because she thinks it's ''cute''.
