Lists the various wrestlers active during the Wrestling/AttitudeEra, from 1997 through 2001. Please limit associated tropes to that wrestler's time in WWE.

!!! Águila[=/=]Papi Chulo[=/=]Essa Ríos (José Delgado Saldaña) 1997-2001
* BreakupBreakout: Lita, his valet, is far bigger then him.
* IHaveManyNames
* IHaveTheHighGround
* Jobber: After losing the Light Heavyweight title and Lita as Essa Rios.
* MaskedLuchador: As Águila
* WouldHitAGirl: What caused Lita to split with him.

!!! Albert[=/=]A-Train[=/=]Tensai[=/=]Jason Albert (Matthew Jason Bloom) 1999-2004, 2012-
* AmbiguouslyGay: In his early days.
* BaldOfEvil
* BashBrothers: With Karl Anderson as Bad Intentions
* TheBigGuy: As a face.
* BigFun
* TheBrute: As a heel.
* ButtMonkey: Was one for a time, during his gimmick change, before he started teaming with Wrestling/BrodusClay.
* CarpetOfVirility: And it was HORRIFYING. It often caused the crowd to chant "Shave your back!"
** He finally shaved it in his time away in Japan before coming back as Lord Tensai.
* ContinuityNod[=/=]ShoutOut: The "Tensai ICHIBAN!" shout he initially did before his chokebomb slam wasn't just a new character quirk. Nor was it Botchamania a reference to an obscure lipstick sold by Joey from Series/Friends. Watch a New Japan Giant Bernard match on Website/YouTube. Most likely if he wins, he'll get on the microphone and give a short promo concluding with "Shin Nihon (New Japan) Pro Wrestling ICHIBAN!"
* FacepalmOfDoom: Used this as Lord Tensai as part of his Finisher, befire it was phased out as part of his makeover.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: Was HUGE in Japan as the monster heel Giant Bernard, winning the IWGP Tag Team Titles twice, and the G1 Tag League twice, once with Travis Tomko and once with Karl Anderson
* LightningBruiser: He can move pretty fast for a big guy, which made his 'A-Train' ring name all the more apt, as he often came at his opponents like one.
* MoneyDearBoy: Was a star in Japan but a mid-carder in WWE; however his contract is allegedly 4x higher than his New Japan one, and he does have a young child at home...
* OddCouple: With Brodus Clay.
* RedBaron: "Hip-Hop Hippo" when he teamed with Scotty 2 Hotty, though Lord knows we'd like to.
* Retool: Underwent one as higher ups weren't all that impressed by him. They dropped the Lord part of his name, the robe, the "ICHIBAN!" shout, mist and his follower Sakamoto.
* ScreamingWarrior
* TattooedCrook

!!! D'Lo Brown (Accie Julius Conner) 1997-2003, 2008-2009
* ArchEnemy: X-Pac XPacHeat before it was cool.
* BaldOfAwesome
* Catchphrase: "Oh you better recognize just who the hell I am"
* CombatPragmatist: For a time he used a chest protector, for a torn pectoral muscle, in matches. He still used it, even after his muscle had healed to make the Lo' Down (his variation on the Frog Splash) more effective.
* FakeNationality: A RunningGag whenever D'Lo had the European title, where he would be billed from different European cities.
* FinishingMove: Lo' Down (Frog Splash); Sky High (Twisting Sit-Out Hangman Power Bomb)
* GeniusBruiser: Is a Certified Public Accountant; this isn't WrestlingDoesntPay, because he never brings it up in the WWF/E.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone[=/=]HeroicBSOD: Accidentally crippled Darren "Droz" Drozdov in a match, and didn't get over that fact for a while. Not that it was his fault, as the accident occured due to a wet spot on the canvas, resulting in a botched powerbomb.

* JiveTurkey
* LightningBruiser
* LeotardOfPower: During his later singles career.

* Undercrank: The opening for Raw Is War circa 1998-1999 does this to him while he's doing his head bobbing routine. Naturally, it looks creepy.

!!! Christian (William Jason Reso) 1998-2005, 2009-
See his dedicated character page for his list of tropes.

!!!Sho Funaki (船木 勝一 Funaki Shoichi) 1998-2010

* GagDub: As voiced by Howard Finkel "Indeed" in 2000-2001
* GratuitousEnglish: "Smackdown announcer number one!" He got better.
* IHaveTheHighGround
* IKnowKarate I Know Kung Fu: When he came back from interviewing as Kung Fu Naki, after taking a little rap by R-Truth to heart.
* Jobber: One of the more well known examples, which was probably why Stephanie made him an interviewer. To elaborate, you can typically tell if a wrestler is going to job if they don't even get entrance music going into a match. Often times WWE will bring out guys not on the roster and sometimes not even in any long term relationship with the company, just to have them get beat by stars they have signed that have nothing else to do. Funaki lost to one of those guys, after he came out with entrance music even when the other guy didn't. Diamondback today is only remembered as that nobody who beat Funaki!
* LaughablyEvil: As part of Kaientai.
* RedBaron: "Kung Fu" Naki
* Rising Sun: One of his finishing moves.

* BoisterousWeakling
* CatchPhrase: "Who's First?"
* FingerlessGloves
* InvertedTrope: The following would be played straight if he was Goldberg, but since he's Gillberg...
** BadassBeard
** BaldOfAwesome
** RammingAlwaysWorks: Using the spear.
** UnderwearOfPower
** UnstoppableRage
* Jobber: Despite being the longest reigning Light Heavyweight Champion in company history.
* PowerStable: Was part of the J.O.B Squad, a group of perennial jobbers like CrashHolly and AlSnow
* SayMyName / CrowdSong: During his entrance the crowd (and his own theme music) chants... "Giiilllberg... Giiilllberg... Giiilllberg..."
* StylisticSuck: His entire ring entrance.
* TakeThat: His whole character is this to Wrestling/Goldberg. WWE waited until after Goldberg had suffered his first official defeat to introduce the parody.

See his dedicated character page for his list of tropes.

See his dedicated character page for his list of tropes.

!!! Key (Vic Grimes) 1999
* Acrofatic: Possibly the biggest example at his time, even more than Wrestling/BamBamBigelow. He was a superheavyweight who could perform corkscrew sentons, somersaults and suicide dives.
* TheAggressiveDrugDealer: Its original gimmick, which never materialized.
* ArchEnemy: Was planned to be one to The Godfather, but the storyline was dropped due to Godfather getting injured.
* TheBrute: To Droz, along Prince Albert.
* IHaveTheHighGround
* ManInWhite: He wrestled in a white suit.

* MistressAndServantBoy: As Meat, he was the latter for the Pretty Mean Sisters otherwise known as PMS.
* PartsUnknown: Planet Stasiak during his [=Cloudcuckoolander=] gimmick.
* PowerStable: The Alliance after WWE brought him back in 2001 for the [=InVasion=].
* WrestlingFamily: His father is former WWWF Champion, Stan "The Man" Stasiak.

!!! Taka Michinoku (吉田 貴男 Yoshida Takao) 1997–2001
* DavidVersusGoliath: Has had plenty of these matches, but him facing Triple H for the WWF Championship stands out.
* FollowTheLeader: While not the first person to win the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship, he was the first winner in the WWF.
* GagDub: Voiced by Bruce "Brother Love" Pritchard in 2000-2001.
* IHaveTheHighGround
* Jobber: Only after he lost the LHW title.
* LaughablyEvil: As part of Kaientai when they were gag dubbed. Taka in particular was very "EEEVVVVIIILLL."
* s: He turned heel and sided with Kaientai (Dick Togo, MEN's Teioh, Shoichi Funaki and manager Mr. Yamaguchi-San) because Val Venis had made a porn film with Yamaguchi-San's "wife", who was also TAKA's "sister."
* WeakButSkilled

!!! Mideon (Dennis Knight) 1996-2000
* ActorAllusion: Mideon asking the Godfather (a wrestling pimp) for farm animals is a reference to his pig farmer gimmick.

* Cloudcuckoolander
* CorruptHick: He and his "brother" used this gimmick as heels when they had the Godwinn gimmick
* EyeScream: The eye in the jar.

* ArchEnemy: With Ken Shamrock, in a rivalry that goes back to their days in mixed martial arts.

* CorruptCorporateExecutive: During his run as Chief Morley, when he was Eric Bischoff's flunky.

* WrestlingPsychology: He was good at long term selling and had good timing for spots.
