''Webcomic/TowerOfGod'' possesses a vast array of unique characters, and here's the place to look them up.

Characters in Tower of God are categorized into two general groups, "Regulars" who were chosen by Headon and are currently climbing the Tower, and [[AsskickingEqualsAuthority "Rankers"]] who have made it to the "top" of the Tower. The latter group contains a sub-category of [[OneManArmy "High Rankers"]] which consist of those who are considered the the most powerful individuals in the Tower, and consist of only 1% of the current number of Rankers. Exceptions to this consists of the [[TheFairFolk Guardians]], [[{{Seers}} Guides]], and the occasional [[TheDreaded Irregular]].

Among these two groups are numerous factions, the most prominent being the [[TheEmpire Zahard Kingdom]], consisting of those loyal to [[TheEmperor Zahard]] and [[TheClan the 10 Family Heads]] who first reached the top of the Tower. Notable sub-groups within the Empire are [[SecretPolice RED, the Royal Enforcement Division]], [[RoyalBlood the Zahard Princesses]], and The Three Lords.

Opposing the Zahard Royalty are two other factions, [[{{NGO}} Wolhaiksong]] and [[TheRevolutionWillNotBeCivilized FUG]], with the two factions at odds with each other despite their somewhat mutual goals.

Founded by Urek Mazino and his friend Baek Ryun, Wolhaiksong is an organization created out of the desire to find a way to break out of the Tower, while not much is known about the organization, it appears as though they have a large amount of supporters to the point where the Rulers of the Tower have grown cautious of them. They are technically not antagonistic against the Zahard kingdom, however their goal inherently clashes with the laws that were instated by Zahard, thus making them come at odds. Considered more of a social club rather than an actual organization.

FUG on the other hand makes no attempt to hide the fact that they fight against the Zahard kingdom. Founded by Grace Mirchea Luslec, the so called "Absolute Darkness" of the Tower, motivated by the explicit goal of killing Zahard and the heads of the 10 families. Lead by a group of Elders and the Slayers, FUG is infamous for their extremist methods and their wide spread reach within the Tower. Their followers border on the fanatical, to the point of worshipping the Slayers, the individuals deemed powerful enough to kill Zahard, as gods.

The majority of the characters in this list hold a place in one or more of these groups, though there are plenty individuals who are considered exceptions to this rule.

!!'''25th Baam [[spoiler: / Jyu Viole Grace]]'''

[[quoteright:297:[[labelnote:CLICK FOR SEASON 2 APPEARANCE]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/viole_3575.png]][[/labelnote]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

The Hero of ''Webcomic/TowerOfGod'', Baam is unusual in the Tower in that he opened the door himself, thus making him an Irregular, who are universally feared throughout the Tower as being ultra powerful monsters who almost always bring great calamity within the Tower. He is also considered unusual and borderline crazy because he values his friends over his own desire to climb the Tower, and is thus quickly deemed dangerous. [[spoiler: After the timeskip, he reappears in front of Ja Wangnan, and sort of teams up with him. He now is part of the criminal organization FUG and has adopted the family name of Grace, leader of FUG]].
-----

* AllLovingHero: In the competitive, back-stabbing world of the Tower, Baam genuinely wants to help others.
* BadassNormal: Subverted. He appears this way at first, but eventually it's shown he's an innate genius at Shinsoo manipulation.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Baam's a nice guy... [[spoiler: just don't hurt his friends.]]
* BreakTheCutie: Though he isn't broken, the whole thing with Ho did bring him pretty close to snapping, and he laments the constant infighting between Regulars. Even when everybody says it's the most normal, logical thing to happen. And then [[spoiler: Rachel happened, and this is only the beginning.]] Now that he has [[spoiler: been ripped away from his new friends and forced to fight against his old ones,]] he's coming very close to the breaking point.
** [[spoiler:After finally meeting Rachel since the infamous pushing incident, Baam finally broke after hearing her cold words. What came next was almost frightening...]]
* CallingYourAttacks: Totally averted. Baam never yells out what he's doing: the most you get is a handy label down the side of the action or a footnote.
** The only exception being sometimes when he copies a move, he'll call out the attacks as he makes them.
* ChickMagnet: Yuri, Black March and Yeon are confirmed, along with Androssi who gets a lot of ShipTease.
** Somehow, those who are GenreSavvy and wear ShippingGoggles made the addition of Hwa Ryun. And according to SIU, Baam will cause many women to cry.
** Androssi's ShipTease becomes much less platonic once she starts reminding Baam of the date he supposedly promised her [[spoiler:once they are reunited in season 2.]] She even goes so far as to outright refer to him as ''her boyfriend'' when talking about him, although Hatsu says she's probably bluffing in this instance.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Baam is very nice guy, even if you are a stranger.
* {{Expy}}: He looks like [[DeadmanWonderland Ganta Igarashi]] and [[Manga/MiraiNikki Yukiteru Amano]]. Has none of eithers initial wimpiness.
* FriendlessBackground: Had absolutely ''no'' human contact until he met Rachel.
* TheGift: Being an Irregular, controlling Shinsoo almost instantly.
* GuileHero: Baam is definitely not stupid.
* TheHeart: One of the few idealists in the Tower, and the most dedicated of the cast to keeping everyone alive.
* HeroicNeutral: All Baam ever wants is to be left alone with his friends; he couldn't care less about Tower politics.
* ImmuneToFate: His status as an Irregular makes it so that [[{{Seers}} Guides]] are unable to predict what he will do, or what changes he can bring.
* InSeriesNickname: Called "Black Turtle" by Rak.
* MagneticHero: Becomes well liked and friendly with many of his fellows, so much so that they choose to help him out even when it means that they will be disadvantaged in the Tower. [[spoiler:Novick even specifically mentions this to Xia Xia, warning her that trying to manipulate him in the long run won't work because the people he attracts are too loyal to him.]]
** He's so endearing, [[spoiler: his mentors in FUG]] are beginning to question their motivations.
* MeaningfulName: Possibly. One translation of 'Baam' in Korean is 'night'. Can you think of another messianic figure who was born on the 25th night?
* MysteriousPast: Who or what Baam is, even he doesn't know. It's not even clear where he was initially, though it seems he was either in the Middle area of the Tower or outside it completely.
* NaiveNewcomer: Starts as this. [[BreakTheCutie It doesn’t last.]]
* NoSell: He's virtually immune to most Shinsoo attacks and Shinsoo in general. Only extremely powerful ones are capable of harming him.
* TheParalyzer: Quant briefly teaches him this in Season 1 (in the form of the technique "Fast Skip"), and it becomes Baam's first example of PowerCopying.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: As an Irregular, he's an immense threat to the Tower. By the time Season 2 rolls around, he's far above the other Regulars on his level in strength.
** This status is further reinforced after he gains the Thorn and uses its power.
* PowerCopying: This, coupled with his innate ability to control Shinsoo with ease, is his greatest combat strength. He's used several abilities that he learned from Rankers far more than they ever did, such as Blue Oar and Fast Skip. The only drawback is he lacks the power and general skill Rankers possess.
** InstantExpert: Not only will he immediately turn around techniques on people during a fight, but Baam also blends his techniques on the fly, making [[ConfusionFu him very adaptable and hard to read]].
* TechnicalPacifist: Though he dislikes enmity and fighting, he defends himself when attacked, he is prepared to kill in order to get to Rachel (though he is relieved when he doesn't have to) and later on, he mops the floor with everyone.
* TemporalThemeNaming / YouAreNumberSix: His name means literally "The 25th Night".
* TookALevelInBadass: Once he begins learning how to manipulate Shinsoo, he becomes a truly formidable fighter. [[spoiler: In only seven years, he's learned how to control 5 baangs of Shinsoo and is far above most of the Regulars on his Floor in strength.]]
* WideEyedIdealist: He absolutely hates the idea of fighting and harming and truly wants every to be friends.
** After [[spoiler: Rachel's betrayal]] and the 5 year time skip, he is still this, but is severely emotionally withdrawn because of [[spoiler: his TrainingFromHell]]

----
!Tropes that apply as of Season 2
!!Warning: Major Spoilers

* AgentPeacock: At the beginning of Part 2 his attire is simply fabulous.
* AGodIAmNot: Quite a few people refer to him as "my/our god" on account of his position as a Slayer candidate and an Irregular. Baam's reactions to this range from strong discomfort to violent retaliation, depending on who's addressing him.
* AnOfferYouCantRefuse: FUG gave him one after Rachel’s betrayal. If he didn’t join them and become a Slayer candidate, they would have killed all his friends.
* BadassAbnormal: Becoming [[spoiler: a living Ignition Weapon by merging with the Thorn]] massively has boosted his already impressive Shinsoo control and power, on top of being an Irregular. SIU has hinted that this, and not his nature as an Irregular, is the biggest reason for his power boost in Season 2.
* BadassBoast: Gives some during Part 2.
* BerserkButton: Hurting the people he trusts is a good way to set him off, just ask [[spoiler:Beta and Reflejo]].
--> "But if you play around with my friends' lives like this again- I will kill you all."
* BoxingLessonsForSuperman: Even after [[spoiler:getting the Thorn]], he spent a year after the Workshop to train at various dojos and combine their styles. As a result, he can keep up with new opponents without using much of [[spoiler:the Thorn's power]].
* BrokenAce: He’s good at pretty much everything, but suffers greatly because of Rachel’s betrayal and FUG’s threat to his friends’ lives.
* CardCarryingVillain: Mostly confined to the first arc of part 2, where he plays up his role as FUG's Slayer candidate to almost mustache curling levels in an attempt to scare away the competition. Pointed out by [[spoiler:Koon]], who says it's like [[LampshadeHanging he's reading out of a textbook for evil people]].
* [[spoiler:DefectorFromDecadence: Once the FUG faction Karaka belongs to reveals it has no intentions to play by its own rules, Baam ceases any pretense of willingness to work for FUG and immediately follows Koon's plans to leave them.]]
* ChasteHero: Seems to just not understand things related to romance or intimacy judging by his confusion about a date and how he was unaware how saying he isn't interested in a woman's body may offend them. Justified by his isolated life before entering the Tower.
* TheDreaded: As a Slayer candidate. ''Everyone'' is terrified of Jyu Viole Grace… [[NiceGuy up until they actually meet him, anyway.]]
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: [[spoiler:The Thorn.]] After one year of training, he may use it once a day for ten minutes at most, else it will go out of control and turn him into a raging berserker that will kill anything around him.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: Yihwa outright mistakes him for a female and invites him to bathe with her.
** Happens again with Novick and Ran, and them wondering how they never heard of an E-rank Regular with "her" skills.
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: He becomes [[spoiler: a living Ignition Weapon]] as a result of FUG's plans.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: He sports longer hair as an FUG. [[spoiler:And at the end of season 2, after he gets back with his friends, he cuts it.]]
* GoneHorriblyRight: During the Workshop Battle arc, [[spoiler: the plan to make him an Ignition Weapon]] ended up backfiring against [[spoiler: Karaka and signalled Baam's defection from FUG]].
* HealingFactor: He heals almost instantaneously in flashes of red light. Even near-fatal injuries only put him out of commission for a few days. [[spoiler: This is apparently a function of being a living Ignition Weapon.]]
* ImportantHaircut: Gets one after [[spoiler: escaping FUG in the epilogue of Part 2, in which he cuts his RapunzelHair so it looks more like it did in part 1.]]
* KillTheGod: Is being developed by FUG as a Slayer, because as an Irregular he's the only person with the power to kill Zahard and change the Tower's system.
* KungFuWizard: In addition to his existing prowess with Shinsoo manipulation, he has become a master physical combatant during the timeskip.
* LivingMacGuffin: As an Irregular, FUG hopes to use him as a weapon to destroy the current power structure in the Tower.
** Doubly so due to his status as a [[spoiler:complete living Ignition Weapon, and obtaining the true Thorn.]]
* LonersAreFreaks: Much more withdrawn than before because he doesn't want to lose anybody anymore, thus making others perceive him as a solitary type of individual. As if his status as a Slayer candidate didn't people avoid him enough before.
* NeverFoundTheBody: Everyone simply accepted that he was dead after they failed to pull his body from the lake.
* NotGoodWithRejection: Once he meets [[spoiler:Rachel after several long years, she treats him with complete apathy. This causes him to lose control of the Thorn and go berserk.]]
* MeaningfulName: InUniverse example. The actual make-up of his name isn't really symbolic of anything, but the fact that the leader of FUG granted him his surname "Grace" as part of his alias, brings to question just how important Baam is to their plans, since their leader essentially adopted him personally.
* PowerOfTrust: He puts faith in the people around him to follow, and live up to their word, even if he, himself, acts out in a selfish manner.
* RageBreakingPoint: When he meets Rachel once again and she refuses to explain to him why she pushed him and left him for dead, Baam doesn't take it well. At all. Until now Baam was confused and felt betrayed, but Rachel telling him off was the last straw, making the thorn go berserk. A very pissed Baam then tells her that she is not going anywhere.
* RapunzelHair: Gains this after the timeskip.
* ShutUpHannibal: Chews out [[spoiler:Beta for the latter's attack on Baam's friends]] just so he can get his so-called revenge.
--> The reason you hated me wasn't for revenge...You just needed someone to hate.
* SuperMode: Has one on account of being [[spoiler: a living Ignition Weapon.]]
* SupremeChef: Almost outright referred as such by Wangnan in comparison to [[LethalChef Yeon]]. [[BrickJoke Funnily enough,]] his best dish is "Prapato Sauce Spaghetti", Androssi's supposed favorite dish.
* SweetTooth: After the 28th Floor Test. You can see it beginning in the [[FunnyBackgroundEvent background]]. WordOfGod states Goseng doesn't let the team eat them due to being unhealthy, and thus [[CrowningMomentOfFunny Viole became the underground supplier of junk food.]]
* TokenEvilTeammate: Averted since Viole is actually a NiceGuy, but to other people it seems this way, with the rest Team Tangsooyook looking too normal to have a Slayer candidate as a member. [[spoiler:Koon points out how jarring this is when he first meets them.]]
* TookALevelInBadass: While he had a moment or two in season 1, he never really did much combat wise. [[CurbStompBattle Let's just say that's not the case anymore.]]
** He takes another level in badass after one year of intensive martial arts training, gaining knowledge and techniques from a multitude of schools and learning how to work them together seamlessly.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: [[spoiler:Activating the Thorn for too long, compounded with meeting Rachel and being verbally abused by her turns him into a full-blown {{Yandere}}.]]
* WreathedInFlames: The effect his fighting style gives off, having his arms engulfed in blue flame-like energy while fighting at both close and ranged combat with them.

!!'''Koon Aguero Agnis'''

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/koon_8464.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

Koon Aguero Agnis is the son of High Ranker Koon Eduan and from one of the Noble families that first climbed the Tower. He meets Baam in the Second Floor's first test, and deems him interesting enough to accompany and aid him while they climb the Tower after Rak takes an interest in him. He becomes quickly one of Baam's closest friends. [[spoiler: Recently made an appearance in the second season and is still a ManipulativeBastard. He is currently in a team with Viole's old teammates to win the Workshop Battle.]]
----

* AntiHero: He is extremely ruthless at times.
* BatmanGambit: He is a master at this.
* BadassBookworm: Don't let his small frame and Light Bearer status deceive you, this guy knows how to fight.
* BrotherSisterIncest: People say that he and his half-sister Maria were lovers.
* CombatPragmatist: Just because he is a Light Bearer don't assume he is useless in close combat. Just ask [[NoodleIncident Chang Blarode]] or Xia Xia's assassin.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: The story focuses heavily on Baam, however when it isn't the perspective usually shifts to Koon's.
* InsufferableGenius: Subverted. He has quite a big ego, but is a surprisingly decent guy.
* JourneyToFindOneself: Why he started his journey up the Tower in the first place, and why he was drawn to Baam.
* FlashStep: Shown using it during The Crown Game.
* FragileSpeedster: When forced to fight.
* GuileHero: He is extremely skilled at manipulating others. He even manages to outsmart [[spoiler: a Ranker]] during Act 1!
* KnifeNut: His WeaponOfChoice
* KnowsAGuyWhoKnowsAGuy: Despite his sudden exit from the Koon family he has managed to maintain a good relationship with an unknown member of the family who holds a lot of power.
* LastNameBasis: Everyone just pretty much calls him by his family name, Koon. Even his teammates and Baam, his closest friend, just use his last name. The few times his first name is uttered are when someone calls him by his full name. Though Koon is estranged from his family, he still seems proud of his heritage and has never objected to just being called Koon.
* LoopholeAbuse: Aguero spends most of his time trying to subvert the Tower's rules, with mixed results.
* ManipulativeBastard: He is extremely skilled at manipulating others.
* MissionControl: He is aLlight Bearer.
* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: Sergio Agüero, Argentinian football player. WordOfGod says that the color scheme of the Koon family was inspired by the Argentinian flag after naming Aguero after Agüero.
* TheProudElite: Despite his immediate family's disgraced status, so much so.
* TheSmartGuy: Most likely to form (working) plans out of act 1 Regulars.
* SmugSnake: Prior to his CharacterDevelopment before truly befriending Baam and Rak he had shades of this. Still there by season two, but less obvious.
* SwissArmyWeapon: Manbarondenna.
* TheStrategist: In the Submerged Fish Test.
* TheWorfEffect: He gets hit with this often when it comes to playing XanatosSpeedChess with FUG [[spoiler:and Rachel.]]
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: White, with a blue tint.

!!'''Rak Wraithraiser'''

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rak1_4051.jpg]]
[[quoteright:297:[[labelnote:CLICK FOR MINIATURE RAK]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rak2_8091.png]][[/labelnote]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

Rak is a giant alligator that unwillingly teamed up with Baam and Aguero in the first round of the Floor of Test, and has been a member of the team ever since. He loves to fight, compete and hunt the strong and is generally a strong and pretty straight forward guy with a lot of street wisdom. A great source of awesomesauce and comedic hijinks, as well.
----

* AwesomeMcCoolname: Wraithraiser. Or Wreckraiser, depending on translation.
** Of course, the [[SpellMyNameWithAnS original Korean pronunciation]] is probably closer to "Rak Lacration," which isn't... quite as awesome.
* TheBigGuy: Second biggest of the Act 1 cast (after Akryung) with physical strength to match.
* {{Badass}}: Bitch please. This is Rak Wraithraiser.
* BadassBoast: "A game without me... Is a game not worth winning!"
* BladeOnAStick: Fights with a spear.
* BloodKnight: His sole reason for entering the Tower is to find interesting people to fight.
* BoisterousBruiser: He is Badass and wants you to know it.
* BruiserWithASoftCenter: Although he comes off as a BloodKnight at first, he's actually one of the more compassionate people in the cast.
** Especially when he meets up with Koon in part 2.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: It's easy to underestimate him, given his hijinks and personality, but he was one of the best Spear Bearers of the E-rank Regulars, and considerably more perceptive than he looks.
** Despite hamming it up and complaining during his Spear Bearer training, Rak managed to match Akryung in the next to impossible feat of hitting an extremely distant target, earning an instant pass to the final test.
* CryCute: No, we're not lying.
* {{Determinator}}: Doesn't care about what is in the way or if he says he can't come back yet, Rak will bring [[spoiler:Baam]] back.
* EgomaniacHunter: Claims he doesn't care about climbing the Tower in the first season, he only wants to hunt the strong.
* TheFettered: His principles and integrity are pure.
* TheHeart: Yeah, despite being a hunter and pretty abrasive, he is one of the most decent and inspiring characters next to Baam, living a life in absolute honesty.
* HiddenDepths: For someone considered a dumb muscle, he is surprisingly perceptive at times. For instance, [[spoiler:he was one of the only people to realize that Aguero was faking his sudden rejection of Baam in order to manipulate everyone else into supporting him.]]
** Also, early on, he seems to have noticed how suspicious it was that Baam didn't know how the artificial "sky" for each Floor worked, which even Koon didn't catch.
* TheHunter: Of the strong.
* HuntingTheMostDangerousGame: His goal in the beginning.
* InSeriesNickname: Gator.
* LargeHam: All over the place, but special mention goes to the Crown game.
-->"OF COURSE! A GAME WITHOUT ME IS A GAME NOT WORTH WINNING!"
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Wraithraiser.
* TheNicknamer: Tends to call people "turtles". The Zahard princesses are exceptions: Anak is "pesky lizard" and Androssi is "ghostly eyeballs".
* PaperThinDisguise: During the Workshop Battle, [[spoiler:he stays in chibi form, wears a cloak and a bird mask, and takes an alias. Baam]] isn't fooled.
* OnlyOneName: Rak is the only part of his name given, Wraithraiser is actually the name of his entire race.
* {{SizeShifter}}: He eventually gains space compression permits that let him reduce his scale to avoid causing problems in the Tower.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Is it Wraithraiser or Wreckraiser or Lekreisher?
** Apparently, it is actually Lacration. A lot of people pointed out that this sounds like [[FailOSuckyName Lactation.]]
* SuperDeformed: When chibified by Yu Han Sung.
** He has learned to do the trick himself by the Second Season by obtaining Compression Permit from the Tower's Guardians; all the better to stalk sneaky turtles....
* TenderTears: [[spoiler: Cries when he meets up with Baam again in Volume 2, having thought up until than his favorite turtle was dead.]]
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Loves bananas, for some reason. [[AllThereInTheManual Apparently]] likes them a lot but has a lot of difficulty peeling them.
* {{Tsundere}}: Oh deliciously for his prey.
-->"Without this weapon, you have no purpose! Of course I didn't get this because I cared about you or anything!"
* VerbalTic: [[SelfDemonstratingArticle You damn Turtles! Turtles, I say!]]
* VitriolicBestBuddies: With Aguero.

!!'''Rachel'''

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/racheltog_7421.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

She is Baam's first and best friend, though she leaves him to search for a starry sky (aka absolute freedom). He follows her, the plot begins, and awesomeness ensues. [[spoiler: She later forms a team with Androssi and Akryung and might have been a part of the slaughter of 197 Regulars. She goes by the moniker Michelle Light after realizing Baam is in her test group. After betraying Baam, she climbs the Tower with Aguero, who knows what really happened during the Submerged Fish test and just keeps her with him as the last connection to Baam's murderers.]]

Like Baam, she is also [[spoiler: an Irregular.]]
----

* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Yellow hair, yellow eyes.
* DamselInDistress: After getting [[spoiler: stabbed by Ho.]] However, [[spoiler: [[DeliberatelyDistressedDamsel she’s faking it.]]]]
* IllGirl: She loses the use of her legs after [[spoiler: Ho stabs her.]] However, [[spoiler: she’s faking it and fools almost nobody; the doctor who examined her said there was no lasting damage.]]
* MeaningfulName: According to the author's blog, her name was chosen because [[spoiler:"In Sherlock Holmes, there is a reference to the word Rache(Rah-he) that means revenge in German."]]
* NonPOVProtagonist: For a character who's almost hardly on screen, she provides a lot of fuel for the story and through a great deal of the main cast.
* RidiculouslyAverageGuy: Except for being able to use and endure Shinsoo… like everybody else.
** According to WordOfGod, she is [[spoiler: indeed an Irregular like Baam, which means she ''might'' have abilities we haven't seen... but if so, there's been no hint of them beyond that.]]
* SecretIdentity: Goes under the name of Michelle Light for a while.
* WalkingSpoiler: In fact, even the fact that [[spoiler: she ''can'' walk]] is a spoiler!

----
!Tropes that apply as of the Submerged Fish Hunt
!!Warning: Major Spoilers

* AntiHero: The author's blog says that she's one of these. She is certainly one of the most ruthless characters.
** ClassicalAntiHero: Her ''real'' introduction at the end of the first volume is devoted specifically to showing her lack of classical heroic qualities, and one of the main themes of the story seems to be deconstructing just what those qualities mean.
** NominalHero: Also possible, although it's hard to tell for sure since we don't know her full motivations or the details of the deals she's struck; it's possible that she's another type of anti-hero or just a straight-up villain.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Attempts to kill Baam by pushing him into dark waters to be eaten, and has continued keeping up the act of being a helpless damsel in front of Aguero for the past five years. [[IKnowYouKnowIKnow And he knew, and she knew he knew; she was only keeping up the act so he wouldn't know she knew he knew and so when the time came she could stab him in the back first.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: While there's evidence suggesting she was a ManipulativeBitch even when she met Baam, she did sincerely care for him. The combination of Baam being TheChosenOne and her being manipulated by Headon turned her away from that. However, while this was her FaceHeelTurn chronologically, in story, she's presented as taking this when she pushes Baam into the lake.
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: She wants to be the heroine of the story, and will attempt to position herself as such by any means necessary.
* IKnowYouKnowIKnow: Caught in a loop of this with Aguero now; he knows she's faking her illness and spies on her with his Lighthouse, but she knows his team is a fence to trap her because she spies on him with her Lighthouse. As of this writing, [[spoiler: she’s coming out on top, since Koon doesn’t seem to know about her ties to FUG.]]
* InvincibleVillain: Her combat abilities are unknown, but she and her allies are always one step ahead of Baam and co, to the point where they can OutGambit Hwa Ryun, who managed to OutGambit an opposing FUG faction. Only time will tell if she manages to come out on top or turn out to be an UnwittingPawn.
* LightIsNotGood: Has light skin, light blonde hair, uses a pseudonym of Michelle Light, and is a Light Bearer. She also seems to be seriously messed in the head.
* ManipulativeBastard: Koon has seen through her ruses, though. [[spoiler: Unfortunately, he hasn’t spotted all of them.]]
* ObviouslyEvil: Even Traveller, who has never seen her before, immediately surmises something is very wrong with her.
* SmugSnake: Gleefully prances about her room when she thinks no one’s looking, and has given “there’s no way you could understand my motivation” rants before.
* TheUnchosenOne: Rare villainous example; this seems to be what motivates her entire plot arc.
* WoundedGazelleGambit: Pretends that her injury makes her unable to walk to manipulate others into helping her.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Regulars (1st And 2nd Floor)]]

People that were chosen to climb the Inner Tower by Headon and the Tower, in contrast to Irregulars, who entered the Tower by themselves. The Regulars seen here are those who were introduced alongside Baam's first appearance in the Tower.

!!'''Anak'''

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/anak_9348.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

A lizard girl with a hook that can expand. She first appears in the first test of the Second Floor where she meets Hatsu and immediately battles him. Though she is one of the strongest on the Second Floor, she keeps to herself. [[spoiler: Turns out that she is the daughter of the real Anak Zahard, a defected Princess who married a cook. The hook she wields is her mother's weapon, Green April. She is out to get revenge for her parents' murder by killing the entire Zahard family. Currently she is in Ship Leesoo's team, along with Androssi and Hatsu. She spent a great time of her life on the 43rd Floor with Garam Zahard.]]
----

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: She is extremely powerful in her own right, but time and time again when she faces a Zahard Princess or anyone of high standing, is proven to still be lacking in the power required to even start her quest for revenge right.
** Also suffered this with Koon Ran in the Workshop Battle, though it's hard to tell how it would have ended since [[spoiler: Parakewl interrupted the match.]]
* BerserkButton: Anything related to [[spoiler: the Zahards]] makes her blood boil. [[spoiler:And then Ren reveals he killed her mother.]]
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: The colour is brown.
* DeathGlare: [[spoiler: When Ren taunts her with her mother's amulet]].
* DisappearedDad: A driving force of her quest is getting revenge for 'The death of that Chicken-Pie cook', her unnamed father.
* DoesNotLikeShoes: Always seen barefoot.
* FatalFlaw: {{Pride}}. Time and again, it proves her Achilles heel.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Green April [[spoiler:before Yuri takes it from her.]] It is a hook that can decompress to an unimaginable size.
** {{BFS}}: Her new weapon [[spoiler: after Yuri takes the Green April]] is an enormous spear, which is at least 15 feet long.]] Justified because Anak is [[spoiler: used to the Green April's Ignition, which is even larger]].
* LegacyCharacter: [[spoiler:She's actually the daughter of the original Anak Zahard.]]
* LightningBruiser: Agile enough to fight evenly with [[spoiler: Ran]] and strong enough to disable [[spoiler: Novick]] in one shot.
* LittleMissBadass: Despite looking like a 10 year old, she was one of the top 5 rank E-rank Regulars (before she became a D-rank).
* LizardFolk: Appears to be from her mother's side, though this is an assumption since her father was never shown.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Pretends to be a spoilt brat during the crown game, and then reveals she is placed exactly where she wanted to be - in the best position for her skills to be fully utilized. She proceeds to swat everybody like flies.
* OddFriendship: With Androssi.
* OlderThanTheyLook: About 300 when season 1 starts.
* {{Pride}}: Her FatalFlaw. [[spoiler:Which is mercilessly exploited by Ran.]]
* PintSizedPowerhouse: According to the wiki, 154cm. Able to throw a spear with enough force to punch a hole in a building.
* TheRival: To Ran.
* {{Tsundere}}: There are times when she'll get pissed whenever [[spoiler: Leesoo]] looks at another woman.

!!'''Androssi Zahard'''

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/androssi_9761.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

A haughty, cynical self-centered woman who is probably the strongest of all Regulars in Baam's grade, sans Akryung, perhaps. She's a Princess of Zahard [[spoiler: and therefore Anak's aunt]], and develops a caring yet vitriolic relationship with Anak. [[spoiler: Currently a member of one of the top two teams in the E-rank, climbing with Ship Leesoo, Anak and Hatsu.]]
----

* ActionGirl: Probably, the strongest of season 1 Regulars.
* BrokenBird: Her experiences trying to earn the right to become a Princess left her quite bitter.
* TheBigGuy: Small frame, but stronger than Rak.
* CombatStilettos: Subverted. They tend to break in the worst possible moments.
* CoolBigSis: She gradually grows a soft spot for Anak and Baam.
* CurbStompBattle: She and Akryung vs. 2nd Floor Regulars.
** Then she ends up on the receiving end of this, courtesy of [[spoiler: Ren]].
* DefrostingIceQueen: She isn't a real Ice Queen, since she is rather outgoing, but she keeps her feelings to herself, views others as tools and steps over bodies to reach her goals. And then she meets Baam.
* DrivesLikeCrazy: Everyone she teleports reacts like they're lucky to survive.
* FemmeFatale: Noted to be alluring and deadly at the same time by people who observe her fighting.
* GoGetterGirl: Going through training that boiled down to 'achieve or starve' led her to become this.
* LargeHam: On occasion, especially when people aim attacks at her face.
-->"Your crime of attempting to kick the almighty Androssi's face is appalling! For that, I shall punish you!"
* LightningBruiser: Tends to go for very fast and very hard hitting strikes when fighting; since most people can't handle a Zahard Princess at that level it's all she needs most of the time.
* OlderThanTheyLook: About 300 at the start of season 1.
* OneManArmy: Able to massacre 197 other Regulars on the Second Floor, along with Akryung.
* SmarterThanYouLook: Appears to be an arrogant and vain woman at first glance, however she is really intelligent and is a quick thinker in the middle of combat.
* SuperToughness: When fighting Viole and Traveller, she takes a large number of ''anti-tank'' explosives directly to the face and comes out with nothing more than frazzled hair and mild annoyance.
* TeleportSpam: Uses teleportation in battle [[spoiler: by using Bong Bong to teleport herself and Varagarv hundreds of meters into the air, then kicking him into the ground, causing some damage even to the MadeofIron Mad Dog of Yama]]
* TeleportersAndTransporters: Her teleporter tool, Bong Bong.
* {{Tsundere}}: Very much so towards Baam.

!!'''Hatsu'''

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hatsu_8362.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

The son of a… potter? Still, he has been training his swordsmanship for many years, which allows him to go toe to toe with Anak, whom he grows very close to, and stand his ground against Quant. By the second season, he's so famous that the mere rumor that someone managed to beat 'that Hatsu guy' in battle is their main selling point as a mercenary. [[spoiler: Is currently travelling with Ship Leesoo's team.]]
----

* AbsurdlySharpBlade: He uses Shinsoo manipulation to turn his swords into these
* {{Badass}}: Definitely one of the best Regular fighters.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: Although he has magic swords at the beginning, he's the only "powerhouse" character with no native advantages; all other high-ranking Regulars benefit from SuperpowerfulGenetics or some other special advantage, but Hatsu's power comes entirely from ridiculous training, to the point where even at the start, he can go toe-to-toe with a Princess of Zahard and (briefly) stand his ground against a Ranker.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: His colour is black.
* DualWielding: The Sword That Flies Higher Than Any. The Sword That Flies Lower Than Any.
* FantasyCounterpartCulture: His clothing, his name, his physical characteristics, his weapons and his mentality are very Japanese.
* FlyingWeapon: He uses a flying sword as one of his weapons on the Second Floor, although he seems to have lost it later on.
* FragileSpeedster: His sword techniques strike very quickly, but both his sword and him can't handle too much of a beating.
* HeroicSacrifice: Attempts a non-lethal one during the Second Floor test to stop Quant from pursuing the rest of the team.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: It doesn't matter if it's a sword or a random pipe he picked up. If it is in his hands it WILL cut you.
* {{Ronin}}: Though probably a Korean version of a masterless Samurai.
* {{Samurai}}: More of a {{Ronin}}, but still.
* PragmaticHero: His sense of fairness is very flexible in certain situations.
* ShroudedInMyth: Mild one. [[spoiler: Five years after his debut in The Tower, beating "that Hatsu guy" seems to be a major accomplishment.]]
* TheQuietOne: Does not speak much.
* WeakButSkilled: Compared to powerhouses like the Zahard Princesses and Viole.
* TheWorfEffect: Beaten off screen by the Devil of the Right Arm just to show how tough this devil really is.
* WreckedWeapon: He loses his weapon during the fight with Cassano.

!!'''Ship Leesoo'''

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shipl2_5878.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

A seemingly average guy in a purple jump suit. He is much smarter than he looks and a really funny guy. [[spoiler: He's currently a D-rank climbing the Tower, still with Hatsu and Anak. He remains in contact with Aguero, and learnt of Rachel's trickery before Aguero left the team.]]
----

* ActionSurvivor: Despite his relatively low combat skills, he's done well in surviving against some really tough opponents.
* ArtEvolution: In Season 2, he's drawn in a more realistic and gritty style to signify he's [[TookALevelInBadass Taken A Level In Badass]].
* {{Badass}}: After hearing a Ranker give a brutal BreakingSpeech to another Regular about how his not being able to make it through the Shinsoo barrier means he was choosen to ''fail'', Ship says ScrewDestiny and pushes his way through the barrier through pure willpower.
* ButtMonkey: Even though he is the leader of his team he gets pushed around a lot by them.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Brown.
* ChickMagnet: Not as much as Baam, but if one looks closely there is at least two woman who like him, one of them being [[spoiler: Anak]]
* DoggedNiceGuy: A non-romantic example, but Anak and Hatsu have physically ''dragged'' him around when he doesn't do what they want.
* DraggedByTheCollar: How Anak dragged a protesting Ship off the stage after agreeing to take part in the test.
* TheDragAlong: After Anak agrees to taking part in the special examination with Baam, she walks cooly offstage, silently dragging a kicking and screaming Ship behind her.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: A sequence of them in the first few chapters after his introduction -- showing his ButtMonkey status by having him blustering ineffectually while Anak and Hatsu show off their skills, then revealing his {{Determinator}} nature by having him push through Lero-Ro's Shinsoo barrier test with sheer willpower, and finally having him demonstrate his intelligence by being the only person to perfectly solve Yu Han Sung's door puzzle.
* FailureIsTheOnlyOption: The Ranker says anyone unable to make it through the barrier was chosen to fail and nothing they do can change that. Leesoo decided to screw that and pushed his way through the barrier through pure willpower.
* GuileHero: His [[http://towerofgod.wikia.com/wiki/Ship_Leesoo stat sheet]] lists him as nearly dead last in every single category... except intelligence, where he's one of the highest of the first season's Regulars.
* HeroicSacrifice: Tries to pull a non-lethal one on Quant.
* TheLoad: Starts off seeming like he will be one to Hatsu and Anak, almost causing them all to fail the second test, then shows he's one of the smartest characters in the series the next test and is even ''the team leader in the second volume.''
* OlderThanHeLooks: Not nearly as extreme as many other characters, but he's ''26'' in the first volume, despite looking and ''acting'' like a teen.
* NiceGuy: Among other things, he uses his own body to cling on to Quant, getting horribly beaten up solely to slow him down a tiny bit and increase his team's chances of victory even though, as Quant points out, he himself was already certain to pass.
* TheSmartGuy: Along with Aguero, forms the strategical team.
* TheStrategist: After the timeskip, he serves this role for his team.
* TeamMom: A gender-flipped example.
* TheUnchosenOne: His inability to walk through the Shinsoo barrier made him doomed to fail in the eyes of the Ranker in charge of the test, so he "Choose himself" and pushed his way through.

!!'''Phonsekal Laure'''

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/phonsekal_9599.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

A branch member of the great Eurasia family, who runs a round with a blanket and pillow to sleep where ever he can. [[spoiler: In Season 2 he is travelling with Ship Leesoo's team.]]
----

* BrilliantButLazy: He's one of the most powerful of the Regulars in the first and second season, but usually prefers to just curl up in his blanket and fall asleep.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Kicks ass when he stops sleeping on the battle field.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: As seen in the Crown Game special test.
* {{Flight}}: Is able to levitate.
* HiddenDepths: Being one of the older members of the cast in the first season, and being from one of the 10 great families means he's way savvier than he lets on.
* ItRunsInTheFamily: From a branch member of the Eurasia family, which is notorious for their laziness.
* OlderThanTheyLook: WordOfGod says he is in his 130s.
* PunchClockHero: Works for his team only when forced to. Or, if he just steps in randomly, it's simply the quickest way to get back to sleep in peace and quiet.
* PureEnergy: Is able to create blasts of Shinsoo that out-power most.
* {{Sleepyhead}}: Carries a pillow and a blanket around everywhere, and will throw them down and fall asleep at the slightest opportunity.

!!'''Hwa Ryun'''

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hwa_9733.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

A mysterious character with mask and tight neoprene suit that first appeared in the Crown Game and dominated the last round, until Baam slashed her face with Shinsoo. Since then, she wore an eyepatch and let her hair down. [[spoiler: Is a member of FUG and recruited Baam after Rachel betrayed him.]]
----

* AffectionateNickname: Calls Baam "My God" despite knowing how much it irks him ([[LostInTranslation Uses informal language when saying it in contrast to other characters who use respectful wording, so it comes across more like a nickname than a sign of devotion]]), has also referred to him as "My Stupid God".
* AmbiguousGender: In her first appearance a lot of readers couldn't tell whether or not she was a girl due to the leotard and because her chest size wasn't very obvious at the time. Also occurred during the period when she was dressed as [[spoiler:Yuto]].
* ArtEvolution: Had much brighter hair and less detailed eyes during the first season, as well as relatively plain clothing. As of season 2 her hair is much darker, her eye is one of the most striking parts of her appearance, and she is given progressively fancier clothing to wear as time goes on.
* TheBartender: Had this look for the beginning of season 2 while under her cover in a karaoke bar.
* BerserkButton: Not very obvious at first glance, but it looks like doubting her skills as a Guide is a quick way to piss her off. A more passive aggressive example than most due to her more subdued nature.
* BrutalHonesty: Tends to be very frank when speaking with others.
* ChekhovsGunman: She first appears as a mysterious, strong Regular who gets injured in the crown game. [[spoiler: She is actually pretending to be an aspiring Regular, and is also a Guide like Evan; in fact acting as Rachel's, and then Baam's Guide.]]
* CurbStompBattle: In the Crown Game, she sweeps the floor with everybody except Androssi.
* DamselInDistress: [[spoiler: Is used as a hostage to prevent Baam during a battle to limit his ability to fight back.]]
* DeadpanSnarker: Always speaks in a neutral tone even when dishing out the snark.
** DisabledSnarker: Losing an eye does little to impede her usual attitude.
* ElegantGothicLolita: A lot of her outfits give off this feel.
* EnigmaticMinion: She's [[spoiler: a FUG member]], and yet she occasionally goes out of her way to help other Regulars for no reason. No wonder some of her colleagues are wary of her.
** Noticeably, when Baam asks her why [[spoiler: she's siding with FUG]], she ducks the question by giving a general answer about why ''other people'' would do so instead.
* EyepatchOfPower: After her eye got cut by Baam.
** [[AllThereInTheManual Side materials]] claim that she is actually really fond of it, and likes herself better with the eye-patch on.
* EyeScream: There's one fairly graphic panel of Baam's power slashing across her eye; if you're reading quickly, it's easy to miss that the slash is shown cutting deeply ''into the eyeball.''
* FanDisservice: While in most cases seeing a character with her looks have their shirt wide open would be a nice dish of Fanservice, having it open due to [[spoiler:her being beaten bloody by Reflejo as a "lesson" and propped up in a CrucifiedHeroShot]] made it more disturbing than anything else.
* FieryRedhead: Subverted. She is more a CuteMute or TheStoic than fiery.
* TheGadfly: Subtle, but it's there. Has a habit of messing with people by showing off how much she knows without actually giving any real information, and from the looks of it she mostly does it just because [[ItAmusedMe it was funny.]]
* GuileHero: Whether or not her intentions are on the good side of things has yet to be seen, her manipulative tendencies have shown up from time to time. Usually pushing a character in a personal dilemma into a direction that will lead to them to continue helping Baam.
** NominalHero: Or she could be this, since her motivations are not clear, and the group has to rely on her due to her position as a Guide.
* HotWitch/WitchSpecies: She is from the Red Witch clan, who are known for their bright red hair and being Guides.
* JerkAss: She has her share of sarcasm.
* KuuDere: Silent, but kind of adorable.
* MagicStaff / SimpleStaff: Her WeaponOfChoice, also counts as a FlyingWeapon
* MysteriousWaif: Though her real age is unclear but basically irrelevant given [[spoiler: Rankers are TheAgeless]].
** Though it should be strongly noted that WordOfGod has not yet stated whether or not she is a Regular or a Ranker, her status is a bit ambiguous since Guides can travel to every Floor without having to take the tests.
* NotSoDifferent: States that she and Baam are alike but ignored his attempt at getting her to elaborate on what she meant.
* NotSoOmniscientAfterAll: While her knowledge about the Tower is overall good, she lacks information about Irregulars. [[spoiler:Among other things, she has been blindsided by Rachel due to this. In addition, Rachel's team has Emile, whose omniscient-like abilities really screws up Hwa-Ryun's own knowledge base.]]
* OracularUrchin: Has shades of this, especially since she tends to be extremely cryptic with her advice as a guide and never lets anybody else in on her plans.
* OutGambitted: [[spoiler:While she manages to outgambit Reflejo and especially his minions, she totally didn't expect Cassano of planting a spying device on her tools, turning her into a DamselInDistress later.]]
* PrecisionFStrike: Much to the Fandom's amusement and satisfaction, Hwa Ryun is the first character to outright refer to [[spoiler:Rachel]] as a Bitch.
* PowerOfTrust: It's been pointed out that Baam has complete faith in her as his Guide, best seen in their encounter with Mirotic guardian.
* RapunzelHair: Especially in season 2.
* SamusIsAGirl: She somehow manages to do this ''TWICE''.
* SarcasticDevotee: Snarks every once and a while, mostly to Baam when the two share a conversation. Always willing to aid him, but never divulging the reasons for why.
* {{Seers}}: An odd example of this since it appears to be a somewhat limited example. Rather than predicting the future (though it is mentioned that Guides are capable of this occasionally) she is able to see the best method for a person to complete something, and the "path" they must take to get what they want.
* ShipTease: Less obvious than the other examples in the series, but it has been noted that when she was talking about him becoming worthy of being her God as well as a man, the wording was a bit ambiguous as to whether or not she was commenting on his growth, or [[ShippingGoggles hitting on him by calling him her man.]]
* TheQuietOne: For a lot of the time, she just sits around in the class room or the background. In season one she just has 3 conversations, with Aguero, Baam and Rachel. [[spoiler: Quite possibly, she was just silent because the didn't need to socialize with the other Regulars.]]
* TheWorfEffect: Though she doesn't have many combat appearances, it was still surprising to see someone who dominated a team of Regulars in a matter of seconds be beaten soundly, along with Horyang and Novick, in order to show how strong Reflejo and Cassano were. Though somewhat justified by the fact that WordOfGod claims Guides have relatively low battle skills.
* WorldsMostBeautifulWoman: WordOfGod says she is the prettiest of the Part 1 Regulars, and that it is a plot point. Also, the sheer amount of fanart dedicated to her is staggering.

----

* ActionSurvivor: His ability to survive despite all odds is something that constantly bewilders both the audience and the characters.
* DirtyCoward: Among other things, abandons [[spoiler: Hatsu]] during Hide-And-Seek game.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Calls [[spoiler: Koon]] "trash" for "abandoning" Baam before the Submerged Fish test, despite intending to do so himself before!
* ItsAllAboutMe: One of the most selfish characters introduced in the story. And that's saying something considering how much of a CrapackWorld the Tower is.
* JerkAss: Likes to call others "trash".
* KarmaHoudini: Despite being obnoxious and useless he seems to still climb The Tower.
* KickThemWhileTheyAreDown: Had no problem with ditching Mauchi after the latter failed to pass the Hide-And-Seek test.
* LeeroyJenkins: In the Submerged Fish Hunt Test.
* TheLoad: He is yet to show any particularly useful ability.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Talks like he is the biggest fish around, when in reality it's a wonder the cast still remembers his name at all.
* SmugSnake: Or cheap dirty bastard who makes it very easy for the audience to hate him.

* BladeOnAStick: He is a Spear Bearer.
** GoodOldFisticuffs: Though he's very proficient in this as well.
* TheBerserker: According to other Regulars, during the first test he furiously attacked anyone that came close.

The point-of-view character for the first plot arc of season 2. While by no means weak, his dreams of being King of the Tower are far beyond his current capabilities. He's also running away from loan sharks and a bit of a coward with a good heart. [[spoiler: He manages to trick Viole into forming a team with him and just like long ago with Baam and Rak, it stuck. They are currently living together with Yeon, Kang Horyang, Goseng, Miseng, Prince and Akraptor.]]
----

* ActionSurvivor: At first glance, he does not seem to possess any special powers... Unlike 90% of the cast. However, from his introduction onwards, there are subtle hints that he has a HealingFactor well beyond what he should have to help him out: bouncing back quickly from being burned to a crisp by Yeon was no fluke. Time and again, he heals up from major physical exertion or injury ''overnight'' without anything more than self-applied first aid and he ''never'' draws attention to this.
* BerserkButton: [[spoiler: Nia's death]] pressed his.
* BigEater: Kind of: he loves buying in bulk for group celebrations. However, he also does eat a fair amount.
* ButtMonkey: Starts as this.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Gold
* CuteLittleFangs: How pronounced they are vary from panel to panel.
* {{Determinator}}: Never gives up. He even lampshades this in his very first appearance. Even Koon acknowledges that this is Wangnan's greatest strength.
-> The difference between those up there and me is the question of whether you have given up or not.
* FirstPersonPeripheralNarrator: Starts as this for Viole. Later develops into a SupportingProtagonist.
* FragileSpeedster: Is agile enough to dodge Viole's attacks for a while, but lacks power.
* FreakOut: When [[spoiler: Nia dies.]]
* GuileHero: Uses some really dirty tactics to win, most notably switching his connector with Viole's in order for the team to pass the exam.
* HeroicSafeMode: Immediately following his FreakOut.
* HiddenDepths: He is both resourceful and determined. And, can tank major injury, even though it hurts like hell and does cause damage.
** More notable is the fact that he knows a lot about the Zahard family and their contracts with the Guardians, information usually only known by members of the 10 Families.
** He also knows things about Irregulars even Family members like Yeon and Koon don't. And, he beats Floor Admins, too. This is very rare stuff, but he knows it.
** According to Hwa Ryun, he is Zahard and the 10 Family Heads' biggest mistake.
* HomoeroticSubtext: His phone lists Nia as "My beloved Nia~♥♥"
** Granted, he's characterized as not knowing [[DudeLooksLikeALady Nia was a guy]] at the time. SIU manages to fool even his own characters most of the time.
* HornedHumanoid: Has two small horns on the back of his neck.
* {{Hypocrite}}: His reason for not killing [[spoiler: Lurker]] was to avoid being this. Since on his climb of the Tower, he will have to kill countless people, killing [[spoiler: Lurker for Nia's death]] is pure hypocrisy and makes him no better than [[spoiler: Lurker.]]
* IndyPloy: In general. [[spoiler: And that's his explicitly confirmed modus operandi for bringing Viole into his team.]]
* ManlyTears: After [[spoiler: Nia dies.]]
* MadeOfIron: He complains like crazy over every little bump and bruise, visibly avoids getting hurt as much as possible and bleeds like an absolute champion when he does get hit. However, he's always ready to take up ButtMonkey duty again the next day (and after a big meal) as if nothing happened...
* NiceGuy: Seems to be a JerkWithAHeartOfGold at first, but quickly becomes this instead.
* OutOfFocus: Rapidly faded in importance after the plot arc where he was introduced - he's still ''around'', and there's hints he might be important again later, but at the moment he's just another character in Baam's previous team.
* PunnyName: If you reverse his name, it becomes 'Nan wang ja', which means 'I'm a prince' in Korean.
** MeaningfulName: Maybe.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Embarked on one after [[spoiler: finding Nia dead.]] Ultimately [[spoiler: subverted. Even though he wanted to kill Lurker, he couldn't bring himself to do it.]]
* SpannerInTheWorks: In the finale of Part 2, he manages not only to [[spoiler: thwart Lurker's plans]] but also [[spoiler: concludes a duel between Viole and Love.]]
* ThrowDownTheBomblet: Uses bombs as his WeaponOfChoice.
* TookALevelInBadass: After reaching Train City, Wangnan is confident and skilled enough to take on Cassano with his special bomb.
* TrueCompanions: Shows that he really cares about his team again and again.

!!'''Yeon Yihwa'''

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yihwa2_2464.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

She is a Regular that gets introduced in season 2 and first appears in a scene where she fries Ja Wangnan. Later, she climbs the Tower with the team of the Lurker loan sharks because of her debt, which gets transferred to Baam after he wins the Shinsoo competition.
----

* ADayInTheLimelight:During the FUG arc.
* ButtMonkey: Despite WordOfGod saying she is second in power only to Viole out of the Team Tangsooyook she server mostly as PluckyComicRelief.
* CantLiveWithThemCantLiveWithoutThem: She claims she hates Viole, however she knows that she can only control her flames when he is around.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Feels a little threatened when Hwa Ryun makes an appearance.
* CuteClumsyGirl: She fumbles ''constantly'', and yet it makes her quite endearing.
* TheDarkChick: Briefly, when [[spoiler: she’s being [[PeoplePuppets puppeted]]]].
* {{Irony}}: At least in the beginning. She is a clumsy pyromancer who also cannot cook, but is a good swimmer.
* TheKlutz: She fumbles constantly. Not just with her fire abilities, either. Tech savvy she isn't.
* LethalChef: Miseng starts ''crying'' when Yihwa decided to take over Viole's cooking. Worse, the hustle to find alternatives.
* TheOjou: Feels like she has a duty as an "elite" of the Yeon family to uphold their standards.
* PeoplePuppets: On the receiving end, courtesy of [[spoiler: Lurker and Tin.]]
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Non-malevolent one. She's just clumsy.
* PlayingWithFire: She uses shinsoo to produce flames.
* PowerFloats: [[spoiler: When being controlled.]]
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: At least when [[KleptomaniacHero Baam]] isn't stealing [[RunningGag her tights]].
* RapunzelHair: Knee length.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: She is certainly dangerous, though less malevolent than most examples.
* TeamKiller: Was reputed to be this.
* TechnicolorEyes: Pink
* TechnicolorFire: Pink and lilac.
* TookALevelInBadass: During the Workshop Battle, she [[spoiler: precisely blew up [[ItMakesSenseInContext the worm held in Beta's hands, disqualifying him from the competition]]. By the next arc she's coolly backing up Wangnan against Cassano.]]
* {{Tsundere}}: With Viole, mostly because she is conflicted on whether or not it is right for her to be friends with a member of FUG when she is part of the Yeon family.
* UnskilledButStrong: Her flames are claimed to be strong enough that not even Rankers could control them. Consequently, Yihwa can't control them. Hence, she became quite a TeamKiller. She is slowly discarding the 'Unskilled' part.
* VomitIndiscretionShot: [[spoiler: How Viole gets rid of a PuppeteerParasite controlling her. It's messy.]]
* WomanScorned: PlayedForLaughs. [[spoiler: Later, a minor plot point.]]

%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

A delivery boy who befriends Ja Wangnan.
----

* AlliterativeName: Self explanatory.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Was very slowly beaten to death by Lurker, his ear shattering screams playing over the pockets of Ja Wangnan's team the entire time.
* DeathEqualsRedemption: Very his betrayal was somewhat terrible, it can be universally agreed that he did not deserve the death that Lurker gave him.
* DroppedABridgeOnHim: spoiler: His death is as sudden as it is violent.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: Lampshaded by Wangnan.
* EasilyForgiven: Wangnan held no grudge against him for his betrayal and understood why he did it. Sadly, Lurker kills him right afterwards anyway.
* FaceHeelTurn: Not really by choice, but still turned against Wangnan at a key moment in the game.
* GoryDiscretionShot:His death.
* GreenEyes: Emerald green.
* HeadphonesEqualIsolation: This highlights that he isn't really part of Wangnan's group.
* TheMole: He was blackmailed by Lurker.
* NiceGuy: Legitimately nice person just in bad circumstances.
* ShootTheShaggyDog: Was abandoned and beaten by his team, taken in by a nice old lady, than forced to constantly betray people to help pay off her resturant's debts. He ends up betraying Wangnan with the belief it would allow the restaurant's debts to be paid off completely, is quickly informed this is no longer the case, and is brutally murdered minutes later.
* UnusualEars: He has animal ears.

%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

Miseng is a Regular Wangnan and Baam met during the first part of the 20th Floor test. Wangnan's resolve to attack the next person was crushed by her being utterly adorable (and wearing a school girls uniform).
----

* ChildProdigy: Smart enough to dominate a card game played with adults.
* KillerRabbit: In Shinsoo Strenghtening Test she came just below Wangnan, and above Goseng and Yoghurt Lady. She must be quite capable for reaching 20th Floor in the first place, but her abilities remain unknown.
* ShesAllGrownUp: She's still got some growing to do of course, but Miseng has noticebly matured by the time she reappears during the Hell Train chapters.
* TokenMiniMoe: Of all the [[DistinctiveAppearances character designs]] SIU has thought up, after 82 chapters and more than fifty characters, he has an adorable little girl. Since reappearing during the Hell Train chapters, though, ShesAllGrownUp. That said, she still wears outfits reminiscent of her TokenMiniMoe roots.
* TookALevelInBadass: Her much improved Scout skills allowed her to quickly determine [[EnergyBeing Mirotic]] [[MightyGlacier guardian]]'s AchillesHeel, allowing for its swift defeat.

Miseng's friend. An apparently reasonable woman with a mousy look.
----

* BrainyBrunette: See below.
* ExpositionFairy: Was the only one to identify the marks that Viole wear as those worn by slayers of FUG.
* MeaningfulName: Her name literally means "female high school student".
* OpaqueLenses: We have yet to see her eyes because of them.
* Team Mom: Clearly is one for Team Tangsooyook. Mothers Miseng and prevents Viole from indulging in his newly gained SweetTooth too much.
* TomboyishPonytail
* TwiceShy: With Horyang.

!!'''Hon Akraptor'''

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hona_2569.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

The last addition to the survival game. He acts like a very smart and very ruthless person and thinks more about instantaneous advantages than long-time pay-offs. He has got short silver hair and fights with an umbrella capable of shooting Shinsoo beams.
----

* AntiHero: Most likely type III.
* AwesomeMcCoolname: Akraptor.
* {{Badass}}: Shortly after his introduction he enters MeleeATrois with [[spoiler: Viole and Horyang]]. He manages to keep pace with them, for a while at least. What's more, he doesn't crumple facing Urek, even though he knew exactly how out of his league he was going in. (Well, not quite: he knew he was toast, just not who was grilling.)
* BladeOnAStick: His lance-umbrella.
* CassandraTruth: When everyone was trying to suck up to Baam so he would choose them as his teammate, he started talking about his daughter, whom no one believed he had.
* CombatPragmatist: Despite the clear threat of Viole he still takes the chance to "accidentally" aim at Horyang while the two are fighting.
* FaceOfAThug: A milder case than most, but still.
* HiddenDepths: [[PapaWolf His attitude towards Miseng.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Votes to drop Miseng out of the team. As it turns out, he [[spoiler: wanted her to be safe]].
* MagicKnight: Bonus points for using a lance.
* TheNicknamer: Responsible for Horyang becoming "Teddy".
* PapaWolf: Acts like this towards Miseng, and will extend it to include others in the group when they feel immature and fragile.
* ParasolOfPain: His WeaponOfChoice.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Subverted, despite his FaceOfAThug and apparent callousness at first.
* TookALevelInBadass: One year after season 2 has seen Akraptor's power increases to the point that the beams he used to shoot from his spear/parasol have become large lasers worthy of {{Kamehamehadoken}}: Meets Mary Poppins.
* YouRemindMeOfX: Miseng reminds him of his daughter, which is why he wanted to get her safely out of the game.

A gargantuan Regular who entered the survival match, but took up Ja Wangnan's peace offer. He crushes hard on Goseng so that it is virtually impossible for Wangnan to beat anybody up. He fights using an odd colored iconographic wing that appears floating above his right shoulder, focusing his abilities in specific areas -- a blue shield enhancing his defense, a winged boot to enhance his speed, a giant red fist to enhance his strength, and so on. [[spoiler: He's actually a living ignition weapon and entered the Tower to search for Cassano, the true Devil of the Right Arm.]]
----

* {{Badass}}: Shortly after his introduction he enters MeleeATrois with [[spoiler: Viole and Akraptor]]. He manages to keep pace with them.
* TheBigGuy for season 2.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: He is nicknamed "Teddy", and it fits. However, you don't want to get on his bad side, as he is both an extremely ferocious and skilled combatant.
* BewareTheQuietOnes: As above. He is usually calm and collected, but when he is forced to fight he shows just how capable he is.
* [[spoiler:BroughtDownToNormal: Cassano steals his demon half after the Workshop Battle, leaving him depowered and in a coma.]]
* BruiserWithASoftCenter: Huge, dark and intimidating. Possibly the most good-natured person of his team after [[spoiler:Baam.]]
* GentleGiant: Though his gentleness has its limits.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: When going OneWingedAngel Seems he has these PeekABangs for a reason.
* IAmNotLeftHanded: When he decides to [[spoiler: unleash his 'devil' mode]].
* InSeriesNickname: Teddy.
* KungFuWizard: Mainly uses shinsoo enhancement to boost his fighting ability.
* LetsGetDangerous: [[spoiler: Nya's death]] and Wangnan's subsequent breakdown was too much for him.
* LightningBruiser: When using his winged-shoe mode.
* MightyGlacier: When using his shield mode.
* OneWingedAngel: When he ignites his arm, which he rarely does in combat, it massively increases his power. He also literally has one wing.
* PeekABangs: Covering his left eye.
* PhlebotinumRebel: How he got [[spoiler: the devil.]]
* PlayingWithSyringes: His origin story. [[spoiler: He was raised in a Workshop lab where they experimented on him to make him a living ignition weapon.]]

* PowerLimiter: [[spoiler: His bandages]] seem to be this.
* PutOnABus: Due to [[spoiler:Cassano taking his half of the devil.]]
* SwissArmySuperpower: The mark on his back can be used for defence (Strong Shield), attack (Red Fist, Flaming Fist), speed (Boot) and healing (Cross) among other uses, [[spoiler: as well as his "Devil of the Right Arm," which seems to be his strongest power.]]
* TheStoic: Usually, extremely calm and collected.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: Has one in the form of [[spoiler: The Devil - a living ignition weapon inside him.]]
* TheQuietOne: Does not waste words.
* TwiceShy: With Goseng. And, it's so blatantly obvious.

* OutGambitted: [[spoiler: Lurker]] assumed that he would KickTheDog and factored it into his plan.
* PetTheDog: A minor one. He was absolutely furious when [[spoiler: Rapdevil "died”]], and seemed to take it personally.
* SmallNameBigEgo: At the beginning of Part 2 he thinks he can take on anyone. He is wrong.
* SmugSnake: Really smug, but with nothing much to back it up.

Fisherman of Aguero's new team. He was one of the five strongest E-rank Regulars, is from the same branch family as Koon Maschenny Zahard and he even knows several Maschenny shinsoo techniques.
----

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: His defeat at Viole's hands did a number on his pride, and his experiences with D-rank Regulars doesn't seem to be helping much in this regard.
* ArchEnemy: Considers Maschenny this, after fighting with her when he was younger and losing. Considers killing her as his final goal when he becomes a Ranker.
* {{Badass}}: [[spoiler: Able to defeat Novick, and fight evenly with Anak]].
* TheBigGuy: Despite his small stature, he's the strongest fighter out of Team Koon, and was one of the top 5 E-rank Regulars before becoming D-rank.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Borderline example. He is obnoxious, spoiled and quite childish at times (he destroyed Aguero's Lighthouse during a mission), yet when he gets serious he is a force to be reckoned with.
* CurbStompBattle: How he defeats Novick.

* JerkAss: He is extremely arrogant, and seems to possess next to none social skills.
* KungFuWizard: With an emphasis on the "wizard" part, he is still a capable hand-to-hand fighter.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: He primarily uses Shinsoo and overwhelming force to attack, rather than traditional combat.

* ShockAndAwe: His Lightning Spear technique.
* SuperMode: Redan, which he activates by concentrating shinsoo into one baang then swallowing it. This greatly augments his fighting powers, but after 5 minutes, [[HeroicRROD he will collapse]].
* TheStoic
* TheWorfEffect: This series has a tendency to use him to make others look stronger. Examples:
** He's played up and shown to be an enormous {{Badass}} only to make Viole's utter domination of him show how much stronger Viole is.
** He clashes with Mirotic and Moontari, to no avail during ''Revolution Road'' to hype up their power.

Out of jealousy, he joins forces with FUG to stop Viole from rejoining with his original friends from the entrance levels.
----

* {{Badass}}: Beta really stepped up his game when the Hell Train chapters came along. Not only was he able to solo a couple of Ha Yura's followers, he was able to cause damage to the Mirotic guardian despite previous characters have been shown to fail.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Not only he is a Living Ignition Weapon experiment, he was forced to kill his friends during said experiments.
* GreenEyedMonster: The reason he joins FUG [[spoiler:to destroy Baam]] is because he's jealous that his target, [[spoiler:Baam, has friends and is trying to reunite with them, while he had to kill his own friends in the past as part of being a living weapon]], claiming that his target should suffer the same pain as he did.

----
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: He is skilled in analyzing the properties of a weapon, and thus easily takes down Hong Danhwa, who is wielding a powerful Ignition Weapon sword.
* {{Badass}}: His introduction shows off his abilities as he kills off a ticket hunter, and later takes down a member of the Hong family without breaking a sweat.
** BadassTeacher: Towards his two shinsoo students.
* CurbStompBattle: Performs one on a ticket hunter; killing him outright.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: His last attempt on the Hell Train ended up with everyone on board, apart from his teammates Aka, [[spoiler: Daniel, Sachi Faker and Roen]] being killed by a FUG Slayer candidate. [[spoiler: Roen ended up being killed too.]]
* NumberTwo: To Baam for their Hell Train team.

----

* TheBigGuy: The biggest of Boro and Baam's group; even after Rak's return who the latter still prefers to walk around in his small form.
* ButtMonkey: Established as one for Baam's Hell Train team to the point that even his teacher looks down on him to a certain degree.
** InSeriesNickname: Doesn't help that Baam has decided to dub him "Mr. Fatty."
* EpicFail: His attempt to fight Regulars on his own by order of Boro... did not go so well.
* HiddenBadass: Has shades of CrazyAwesome such as going on a suicidal run with the Crazy Ball in the first Hell Train match.
* PowerOfTrust: Continues to follow along with Baam's selfishness in the "Crazy Ball" match in order to win against Ha Yura.
* SatelliteCharacter: Similar to Felix, they hardly have any character depth aside from their connection through Boro.

* AmbiguouslyBrown: Brown skin.
* IllGirl: Her constitution doesn't appear to be that high, and had to be carried around by Hanool for a brief time.
* KnifeNut: Choice of weapon appears to be a knife.
* LadyLooksLikeADude: Due to a masculine look, and lack of any noticeable features, a lot of readers thought Felix was a man at first glance until the author started referencing Felix as a woman. It was also during this time that SIU started drawing Felix with more "womanly" quirks.
* SatelliteCharacter: Similar to Hanool, they hardly have any character depth aside from their connection through Boro.

----

* ButtMonkey: Not at the same level as Hanool, but still not taken that seriously.
* EverythingsBetterWithSparkles: Sparkle effect when she's excited about something.
* {{Fangirl}}: Towards the idol singer, Ha Yura.
* GameBreakingInjury: Injures her hands after taking the full power of the Crazy Ball from Ha Yura.
* IdolSinger: What Hana hopes to be in the future.
* InSeriesNickname: Being called "Train Crew" due to her previous work as train crewmen.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Could technically be seen as the only true feminine one for Baam's Hell Train group as Felix comes off as more of a {{Tomboy}}.
* ThisIsUnforgivable: Hana Yu takes it hard that Ha Yura treats her near-fatal attack on her [[ButForMeItWasTuesday like it was nothing]].
* [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair You Gotta Have Pink Hair]]: Self explanatory.

!!'''Ha Yura'''

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yuraha_8718.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

A popular D-Rank Regular of the Ha family who performs concerts as an idol singer. She has connections to Rachel, and attempts to board the Hell Train to keep Baam from running into her.
----

* {{Badass}}: Shows off her superiority in shinsoo usage in a one-on-one bet against Baam. [[spoiler:Then we find out that her shinsoo mastery is only because she's carrying a support item that boosts her Shinsoo resistance. Her true combat capability is thus still unknown.]]
* BlackSheep: A lesser variant. WordOfGod has noted her to be a "weirdo" of the Ha Family, having skills outside her family's muscle power and, although her spec is good, it isn't like the original Ha Family style, like [[LightningBruiser Yuri's]] for example.
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: When Baam angrily chastises her for nearly killing her fan, she basically mentions that her fans are expendable.
* CoolShades: Black sunglasses.
* TheDreaded: Her family name puts a lot of people on edge, which is part of the reason she was able to create a team so easily.
* EverythingsBetterWithSparkles: Heck, even her eyes sparkle.
* IdolSinger: Her current profession. Though she appears to have quit the job in order to board the Hell Train.
* {{Jerkass}}: Not only does she not care about her current teammates (even killing one outright), she injures the person, Hana Yu, that she knows is a devoted fan of hers.
** JerkassHasAPoint: Calls out Baam for being too clingy to Rachel. A lot of readers will agree that Baam chasing after Rachel ''does'' feel uncomfortable at times, even to the point where it comes off like Baam is stalking her.
* LuredIntoATrap: [[spoiler:Turns out that the "Crazy Ball" match was a trap set up by her in order to distract everyone away from Rachel's group taking over the Hell Train. She teleports away using her suitcase after Rachel makes her move]].
* PlotDevice: [[spoiler:Her teleportation suitcase]].

----

* {{Badass}}: Defeated 99 Regulars on his own during his search for Hell Train tickets. He also stood strong against the Hell Train guardian, and can fight on par with Baam.
* CharacterTics: Is always seen biting on what looks to be a stick. Him biting on the stick seems to be an indication of when he's lying.
* FangsAreEvil: Self explanatory.
* InTheHood: The second to reveal his face to the readers. All three of the newcomers were hidden at first.
* MysteriousPast: His introduction implies that he has had past experience on the Hell Train. [[spoiler:That past experience being that he was part of Boro and Aka's previous Hell Train team when a FUG Slayer candidate massacred everyone on the train]].
* {{Necromantic}}: He believes if he gets on the Hell Train, [[spoiler:he can find a way to bring his teammate, Roen, back to life.]]
* NotQuiteDead: [[spoiler:It was believed, by Boro and Aka, that he had died on a return trip to the Hell Train more than 200 years ago. Daniel even confirms this himself (although whether he was lying is debatable).]]
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: [[spoiler:He was part of Boro and Aka's Hell Train team 300 years ago]].
* SoulPower: His special shinsoo control ability is one that utilises the 'living soul' and is a "living creature" that moves. As such the shinsoo can move as if it were alive and can seemingly move independently of Daniel's actions. Certain attacks are even worth a specific amount of people. May tie in to his [[BackFromTheDead seeming resurrection]].
* {{Troll}}: His fighting style has him making a claim, only for him to pull off something completely different. Not to mention the trolling that he pulled on the Hell Train guardian with a remote control.
* WorthyOpponent: Considers the current group of Hell Train Regulars (such as Koon Ran's team) a decent batch of contenders.

A D-rank Regular, and one of three newcomers of Rachel's team. Like Varagarv, he is one of Baylord Yama's three pit bull minions.
----

* InSeriesNickname: Similar to Varagarv, he is also called "Mad Dog."
* InTheHood: He is the last to reveal his face. All three of the newcomers were hidden at first.
* MysteriousPast: Has a past with Varagarv (the "Mad Dog" that was introduced in the Workshop chapters).
* TheQuietOne: Compared to the other two new members, he doesn't talk much. His skirmish against Baam was the first time he was actually talking normally.
* WeaponOfChoice: Appears to be some kind of jousting stick that he carries around on his back.
* WeWillMeetAgain: Disappointed that he had to cut his fight with Baam short in order to get on the Hell Train with the rest of Rachel's team. He calls out to Baam wishing for another fight aboard the train.
* WorthyOpponent: Knowing that Baam is FUG's Jyu Viole Grace, he considers Baam one.

----

* TheBigGuy: Largest among the Hell Train Regulars.
* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: Was one of the few people outside Baam's group that knew Ha Yura was hiding her real intentions.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: He was part of Boro's group in the past [[spoiler: when their team encountered a FUG Slayer candidate that massacred everyone on board the train]]. The two went their separate ways after that.

* {{Greed}}: Boro describes him to be a very greedy person.
* TheLeader: Of one of the Hell Train teams.

* TheDreaded: Just having the title of "Ticket Hunter" gives people fear. Boro didn't even want to have to deal with him when he first notices the ticket hunter.
* KilledOffForReal: Dies in a fight against Boro.
* LizardFolk: Almost like a blue Anak.
* PowerTattoo: The white markings on his body.
* SatelliteCharacter: He was basically in the story just to show off Boro's strength to the reader.
* SmallNameBigEgo: He thinks just because he has Emily to provide him information he can ambush any Regular and take their tickets. Boro proves him very wrong.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: He gets killed off rather quickly despite the hype of being a deadly hunter.

[[folder: Rankers]]

Rankers are people who have already climbed the Tower ([[spoiler:or rather, to the 134th Floor]]), and are further split between normal Rankers and High Rankers, who achieved a high position even among them. In short, they are all pretty badass. Following tropes go for each one of them:

* TheAgeless: Climbing The Tower gives them eternal youth (with the exception of Hendo family - they are... special)
** This immortality (more specifically greatly lengthened life spans) is a specific reward for passing a Floor near the very end, so some very high Regulars also fit in with this.
* {{Badass}}: Well, duh.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: All of them are kinda odd compared to the more normal Regulars, but as individual Rankers they get focus it's shown to be more of a [[DeconstructedTrope coping mechanism]] to deal with the trauma of climbing the Tower.
* KnightInSourArmor: All of them that aren't outright evil are pretty world weary with the current system. This is because, to climb the Tower, they had to abandon friendships and betray people for personal advancement. Some are particularly bitter that [[spoiler: they stop climbing at the 134th Floor]].
* OlderThanTheyLook
* Really700YearsOld: Some border on TimeAbyss.

!!'''Evan Edrok'''

Yuri's Guide and a High Ranker, who gave Baam a high grade Pocket. He sees himself reflected in the young boy.
----

* BadassAdorable: WordOfGod says his rank is "about 100th".
* ButtMonkey: Constantly suffers through Yuri's physical abuse.
* ChewToy: Being Yuri's Guide does not come without a price.
* CowardlyLion: One of the biggest worrywarts and borrowers of trouble in the whole Tower. Packs more punch than most.
* {{Expy}}: The Archer to Yuri's Rin, see her entry.
* GenreSavvy: And, not just about what Yuri is about to do. Comes with being a Guide.
* OurDwarvesAreAllTheSame: One of the Silver Dwarves, who are known for their short stature, silver hair, and being Guides.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: Poor sod; he got saddled with one of the worst.
* HyperCompetentSidekick: He is ranked higher than Yuri.
** Though according to the author, Guides (like Evan) are generally weaker at combat, while Yuri appears to be a combat-focused Fisherman, so she might still be tougher than him in a fight.
** His higher ranking is most likely due to his influence as Chief Guide of Zahard Royalty.
* RedOniBlueOni: Blue to Yuri's red.
* TinyGuyHugeGirl: While Yuri isn't as big as other examples, Evan is one of the smallest people to have appeared.

----

* AlmightyJanitor: Despite being young, praised by most of his peers (even SmugSuper Quant and InsufferableGenius Yu Han Sung) and revealed to be equal in power to a prodigy RED member Ren.
* BadassLabCoat: Sooooooo white...
* BewareTheNiceOnes: He may be the nicest of the 2nd Floor admins, but him being serious is enough to force Anak to back down and tell sore losers to fuck off.
* ClarkKentOutfit: He is ''ripped'' under that labcoat.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Golden hair, and gold eyes
* FacialMarkings: Two black dots on his face, one under each eye.

* HartmanHips: In his first appearance. Downplayed later.
* MissionControl: His job as a Light Bearer.
* MysteriousPast: [[spoiler: [[http://inutero3334.blog.me/140135470259 With Yuri Zahard]]]].
* NeutralNoLonger: [[spoiler: When he quits his Test Administrator position to enter Wolhaiksong.]]
* NiceGuy: Of all the Rankers, he is the most decent. Except for that one time he made clear that "those who are not worthy, should FUCK OFF!" (And even that can be seen as him being nice, since he's trying to save their lives.)
* PrecisionFStrike: See above.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Very, very much. Even after quitting, he's still on the trail of what happened and willing to help when he can.
* ShockAndAwe: According to WordOfGod, he is capable of using shinsoo to generate electricity.
* ShoutOut: To [[{{Pokemon}} Pikachu]]: Electric powers, dots on his cheeks. SIU said it was, so it was.

* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: He is a member of the Chicken Love Club.
* CuteBruiser: Adorable looking, and very capable of kicking your ass.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler: His parents were killed by a FUG member.]]

* HiddenDepths: [[spoiler: Admits that Viole is incredibly talented, and gives him another chance despite his hatred of FUG.]]
* LightningBruiser: Is able to easily match [[spoiler:Viole's]] speed, and greatly surpasses him in power.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Even in The Tower world, he looks a bit... Off.
* PintsizedPowerhouse: Very strong despite his size.
* ReadingsAreOffTheScale: Compared to the 20th Floor Regulars. And he wasn't even trying. Justified since he's a Ranker.

----

* AmbiguouslyBrown: His skin is dark.
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Oh, sweet boxed baby chickens, is he ''ever''. He just ''loves'' showing off to the "unworthy".
* DarkSkinnedRedhead: A Family trait, as it happens.
* FieryRedhead: That one is in full effect.
* HairTriggerTemper: Yup. Just about anything will set him off.
* HonorBeforeReason: A very idiosyncratic take on this, but, yes. Diss Scouting and he'll come at you.
* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: Hachuling likes to [[BreakTheHaughty exploit this]] for fun.
* InnocentInnuendo: Due to a mistaken translation, Quant became his widely accepted English name. However SIU later showed his actual English name in a character profile later, meaning he's unfortunately named [[CountryMatters Qunt]]. Due to this being a somewhat offensive term (and fan inertia), the fan translators have continued to use Quant.
* IWasJustPassingThrough: Towards Lero-Ro, even as friends.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: When he gives Baam hope to save Rachel during the Hide and Seek test.
* LargeHam: Lampshaded by Lero-Ro and Yu Han Sung during the Hide and Seek test.
* ManChild: Let's just say he really [[SoreLoser hates losing]].
* OvershadowedByAwesome: He just isn't as awesome as he thinks he is and surrounded by others who outclassed him.
* PlayingWithFire: His stat cards state he is very proficient in using fire shinsoo.
* SmarterThanYouLook: Koon and Leesoo express surprise over Quant's perceptive judgements, having mistaken the latter being blinded by his hot temper or emotional immaturity for a lack of intelligence.
* SmugSuper: Modesty really isn't his thing.
* [[spoiler: UnwittingPawn: In Yu Han Sung's schemes.]]

* EvilMentor: Kind to Viole, but nonetheless a true member of FUG and a true believer in their ideals.
* ExpectingSomeoneTaller: According to Hon Akraptor, he is nothing like the FUG of his imagination.

* PetTheDog: Sincerely wants the best for Viole despite everything FUG has done to keep him on a leash.
* PragmaticVillainy: While he does indeed respect Viole, his leniency towards him is mostly a carrot and stick deal to keep him in the organization. [[spoiler:In an argument with Karaka, he even states that he is ultimately devoted to his own plans and that allowing Viole to assemble his own team gives FUG more hostages to strongarm him with.]]
** VillainHasAPoint: Karaka disobeys him and antagonizes Viole anyways, [[spoiler:causing Viole to leave FUG]].
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Treats Viole as a person rather than a tool, and was an instrumental part in giving him autonomy.

Rank: 1

The first Irregular (discounting Zahard himself, who technically entered as an Irregular but predates the Irregular / Regular system), a being mostly referred to as monster who brought chaos to the Tower under Zahard. He is an Axis, a mythical, god-like being.
----
* CurbStompBattle: He vs anyone. Period.
** This is due to the fact that his status as an Axis means that nothing other than another Axis of greater power can defeat him due to their RealityWarper status. Not that any of the inhabitants of the Tower are aware of this fact.
* TheDreaded: He, along with Enryu, created the prejudice against the Irregulars.
* TheGhost: We get a brief glance of his shadow, or his hair, or weapon, or clothes. Really we don't know.
* OneManArmy: Any of the highest Rankers qualifies as this, but Phantaminum explicitly stormed the most fortified and powerful fortress in the world, which was guarded by the most powerful people in the world, ''all on his own''.
* OutsideContextVillain: From the perspective of the rest of the Tower. He appeared from nowhere using a type of weapon none of them had ever seen before, completely slaughtered their strongest champions for reasons nobody understands, then vanished just as mysteriously.
* RealityWarper: According to WordOfGod this is what an Axis is.
* RunTheGauntlet: Stormed the Castle.
* SatelliteCharacter: An odd example of this, but despite his minimal importance to the story, it had been noted that the reason why Urek entered the Tower was probably because he was pursuing Phantaminum.
* ShroudedInMyth

* StormingTheCastle: Attacked the fortress of the king (where nearly all the strongest Rankers in the world were) singlehandedly. And before he decided to stop (for unknown reasons), he was winning. Easily.
* StoryBreakerPower: WordOfGod says he could destroy The Tower.
* [[UnknownRival UnknownRivals]]: Supposedly with Enryu, people may talk about it, but the have never met before.
* WasOnceAMan: He is noted to be an "Awakened" Axis, in other-words he used to be a normal person before becoming whatever he is now.
* WorldsStrongestMan: He is the number one. The only guy people are giving a snowball's chance in hell to defeat him is Enryu.

!!'''Enryu'''

Rank: 2

The second-strongest Ranker in the Tower, legendary for killing a Guardian (which had previously been considered to be impossible). Enryu has yet to make an official appearance.
----

* BladeOnAStick: Summons great quality of these.
* CreatingLife: Is rumored to have the ability to create living things from Shinsoo.
* DeathFromAbove
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: The Guardians were considered to be immortal god-creatures with near-absolute power over their Floor... until he killed one.
* TheDreaded: He, along with Phantaminum created the prejudice against the Irregulars.
* FlechetteStorm: Red Rain.
* TheGhost: It is rumoured that Enryu will appear during the middle of the story.
** Though you have to remember that the creator is SIU. The middle could be anytime.
* [[KilltheGod Kill the Guardian]]: To let the People know that Guardians weren't absolute beings.
* {{Munchkin}}: The author literally describes him as such (in the power-gamer sense) in his character notes.
* OffTheRails: Because of the murder of the 43rd Floor Guardian, Regulars simply advance through the middle area of 43th Floor without taking a test.
* OverNineThousand: Literally. Enryu is the only known person to handle over 9000 baangs of shinsoo. Most likely a ShoutOut.
* RealityWarper: In his presence, all Shinsoo turns red.
* RedBaron: Is called the Red Tower due to the fact that all Shinsoo turns red when he is around.
* ShroudedInMyth
* SpamAttack
* StormOfBlades: His Red Rain ability.
* UltimateShowdownOfUltimateDestiny: He and Phantaminum have never met and have nothing to do with each other, but since they're the first and second-strongest Rankers who ever lived, fans of each within the Tower constantly speculate about who would win in a fight.

!!'''Urek Mazino'''

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/urekmazino_4632.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

Rank: 4

Urek is an Irregular that entered after Phantaminum and Enryu (possibly tracking down Phantaminum) and climbed the Tower in just 50 years. Urek is currently the 4th strongest and the strongest active Ranker (with Phantaminum and Enryu's whereabouts unknown and Zahard in hibernation). Also, he founded a group called the Wolhaiksong or Winged Tree, which has become strong enough to rival the 10 Great Families in influence and strength. He also happens to be on good terms with Yuri Zahard.

In a stroke of luck, Urek, while attempting to steal the Zygaena flowers, runs into Viole during the latter's 21st Floor Test; Viole being ordered to kill him to complete the administrator's task.

* ArrogantKungFuGuy
* AttentionWhore
* BloodKnight
* BoisterousBruiser
* CallingYourAttacks: His Emperor's Scorching Fist of Death, notable since Viole successfully managed to learn it after Urek used it, but refuses to since he finds the name too embarrassing.
* TheDreaded: Inverted, despite being considered the most powerful currently-active Ranker, he is treated as a joke. See below.
* InSeriesNickname: Ray Barakuda. And because they never live it down, the Winged Tree Organization still calls him Urek Loser-no, Loser-rek Mazino, U-Loser Mental Mazino-seon ever since he got owned by the deputy head of the Ranking Office.
* HellishPupils: Red vertically slit pupils.
* LightningBruiser: Well, duh.
* MrFanservice: Is there a reason he doesn't wear a shirt?
* RatedMForManly: He is popular with guys, but unpopular with women, precisely because he so thoroughly embodies this trope.
* RedEyesTakeWarning
* SpaceCompression: As a power. He once shrunk an entire forest and put in a suit case. Then carried it all the way to the 77th Floor upon which he re-expanded the forest.
* SuperSpeed
* WalkingShirtlessScene: He doesn't even own a shirt.
* WorldsStrongestMan: He refers to himself as this, even though he technically isn't. (He's the strongest ''active'' Ranker, at least.)
* WorthyOpponent: For Arie Hon and Koon Eduan, Koon Aguero's father.
* UnrequitedLove: For Garam Zahard, no less.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Zahard and the 10 Great Warriors]]

At the top of the Ruling Class are Zahard and the 10 Great Warriors, who conquered the Tower and gained control of the [[spoiler: first 134]] Floors from the Guardians. Not native to the Tower, they are ''technically'' Irregulars, and yet not considered as such. Zahard went on to establish the Zahard Family, who are considered royalty, and the 10 Great Warriors founded the 10 Great Families, who are akin to aristocracy in the Tower; all of their descendants benefit from the contracts they've secured with the Guardians. All of them are High Rankers, and though inactive, they are central to the main story. Following tropes go for each one of them:

* TheAgeless: Climbing The Tower gives them eternal youth, with the exception of Hendo.
* CompleteImmortality: With the exception of Hendo Lok Bloodmadder, who struck a special deal, all of them have been granted immortality by the Guardians.
* NighInvulnerable: Per their contracts with the Guardians, none of them can be harmed by inhabitants of the Tower. [[spoiler: (FUG is busy looking for a loophole.)]]
* Really700YearsOld: Probably among ''the'' oldest in the Tower.
* RetiredBadass

!!'''Zahard'''

Rank: 3

Technically not a Ranker anymore, but he was the first to reach the top [[spoiler: Except the 'top', where one gets his position as a Ranker, is simply the 134th Floor - the highest Floor anybody has completed, and where Zahard, for unknown reasons, stopped his ascent. There are confirmed to be more Floors above 134]] and is now the Tower's ruler. He can grant others a vast amount of powers through his blood, as seen with Zahard's Princesses, outstanding female Regulars, mostly from the 10 families, who get selected and adopted after a certain test. He is currently the third strongest in the Tower.
----

* BloodMagic: Transfer of Power. Surprisingly not evil.
* BigSleep: It's implied that he may have been sleeping for thousands of years.
* InterspeciesAdoption: Zahard's Princesses aren't related to him; they're all adoptive daughters. So far we know of two humans and a lizard-girl, though we have no context for what species Zahard is.
** Also, Androssi is not actually human. It isn't that obvious, but she has a tiny horn on her forehead.
* TheGhost: Although he is central to the plot and to several character's backgrounds, he has yet to be seen or even described beyond the most general overview of his history.
* ShroudedInMyth
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Temporarily went from "Zahard" to "Jahad" and then back again in translation.

!!'''Arie Hon'''

Rank: 5

One of the warriors who accompanied Zahard during his conquest of the Tower, and founder of the noble Arie Family, the strongest family in the Tower. His Sobriquet White Sword refers to the White Oar, his sword that doesn't get hindered by dense Shinsoo.
----

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Urek Mazino. Despite having a similiar ranking (4th and 5th) the power gap seems to be huge.
* InSeriesNickname: White Sword.
* MasterSwordsman: This is a no-brainer.
* RetiredBadass: Stopped after Urek Mazino fought him.
* TheGhost

!!'''Yeon Hana'''

The most beautiful of the 10 warriors who accompanied Zahard during his conquest of the Tower, and founder of the noble Yeon family.
----

* DoesNotLikeMen: Subverted as she is kind to both men and women even though she stayed a virgin after her first love went bad.
* InSeriesNickname: Her sobriquet is Cichlid.
* MyGirlIsNotASlut: Is a virgin, all children are descended from the family's godmother.
* TheGhost: For now, we can only imagine.
* VirginPower: She has a special contract with the Guardians regarding her virginity.

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gustang_4788.png]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

The current head of one of the 10 great families. While he is seen observing the Workshop Battle, little else is known about him.
----

* AnonymousBenefactor: [[spoiler: Aids Viole and the gang during the Workshop Battle for unknown reasons, allowing them to keep Viole and the Thorn as well as officially winning the Workshop Battle much to the chagrin of the organizers, and not even the Rankers helping them knew he was there.]]
* TheCasanova: After splitting with Blossom, it is noted that he became something of a ladies man.
* DrivenByEnvy: Was very interested in Eurasia Blossom because she was able to control Shinsoo naturally, and was extremely envious of her talent.
--> ''Gustang'': Blossom is one of the greatest Wave Controllers, but she cannot teach you anything. This is because she herself does not know how she controls Shinsoo.
* BadassInANiceSuit: One of the best-dressed character in the series.
* InsufferableGenius: When it was rumored that he knew a way to escape the Tower Urek Mazino ventured out to meet him, only to leave with a massive headache.
--> ''Urek'': It'll be easier for me to dig my way out of the Tower with a spoon than to learn anything from that guy.
* TheMagnificent: Known as the "Aloof Wave"
* ManInWhite
* ManOfWealthAndTaste: The Workshop organizer, Madoraco, even comments it's hard not to notice who he is based on the expensive cigarettes he smokes.
* {{Megane}}: Wears them to better read the flow of Shinsoo.
* TheProfessor: Is in charge of researching everything there is to know about the Tower.

[[folder: Zahard's Princesses]]

Zahard's Daughters or rather, Zahard's Princesses are adopted females that have, through arduous exams, proven themselves worthy of receiving Zahard's blood, giving them more power. They represent Zahard. They are the only one's allowed to carry the name of Zahard, as he has no children of his own[[note]]though there is the rumored Prince of Zahard[[/note]]. Androssi can be found in the Regulars folder.

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yurizehard_5000.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

The first Princess to be introduced she plants her foot in Baam's face and then lends him her powerful weapon because she felt the test was unfair and she was bored. Breaking the rules and following her own agenda is pretty much the standard for her. Hailing from the Ha Family and the owner of the Black March [[spoiler:and Green April]], she's on good terms with most people she knows and socializes pretty easy. She drags Evan all over the Tower.
----

* ActionGirl
* BerserkButton: Really doesn't like it when it looks like her opponent isn't taking her seriously
* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler:Ren]] is so screwed.
* CovertPervert: Everybody sees her as the great princess. Nobody knows she's totally into that cute, little naive boy who doesn't know what's happening around him.
* ComedicSociopathy: Jumping in people's faces and throwing your friends down cliffs is not very nice, Lady Yuri.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: She is a member of the Ha family, who all possess incredibly powerful bodies.
* DynamicEntry: Did this to Baam.
* {{Expy}}: So...a beautiful woman primarily associated with the colors red and black, who is quite skilled at mystical martial arts, initially acts rough to the protagonist, but actually has a soft spot for him and helps kickstart him on a journey he otherwise wouldn't survive. She is also accompanied by a silver-haired ServileSnarker who may or may not have more to him than meets the eye. Everyone, meet [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Rin]]!
* FingerPokeOfDoom
* HeroWithBadPublicity: Nicknamed the "Tower's Effenberg," which refers to her aggressive, volatile, and outspoken personality.
** Her reputation got a bit better after retrieving the Green April, but it is more akin to begrudging recognition of her rather than real respect.
* IWillFindYou: Even after nearly a decade has gone by since she first met him, Yuri is still looking for Baam despite everyone, including the Zahard family's chief Guide, telling her it was a lost cause.
* MysteriousPast: [[spoiler: [[http://inutero3334.blog.me/140135470259 With Lero Ro]]]].
* OlderThanTheyLook
* {{Nosebleed}}: Since Baam is a total hottie.
* RebelliousPrincess: Screw the rules, she has whims!
* [[spoiler: RebelLeader: Though she still plays by the rules, superficially at least, she's also was present for the founding of the Wingtree organization and seems to have supported Anak's mother in her decision to marry.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: Red to Evan's blue.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: With Evan.
* TomboyPrincess
* TooCleverByHalf: When push comes to shove, she ''knows'' how to play the game of politics with appropriate cunning and ruthlessness. Ren learned this the hard way.

!!'''Anak Zahard'''

* CuteMonsterGirl
* DefectorFromDecadence: Left the Zahard family to marry and have a child with her lover.
* HappilyMarried: Despite the constant complaints about Anak's father in the flashback she is shown in and their seemingly never ending arguing, Anak states her mom was happy.
* LizardFolk
* PosthumousCharacter
* PregnantBadass
* RebelliousPrincess: Went against the most powerful organization in the entire Tower to marry and have a child.
* RetiredBadass
* {{Tsundere}}: Shows signs of Type A in a flashback, wherein she spends most of it bemoaning her marriage and insulting her husband, but it's fairly obvious she loves the man. Anak states the only bad thing that ever happened to her mother was his death.

Another Half-sister of Koon Aguero Agnis. She is the owner of one of the 13 Month Series, Yellow May, and is a very haughty, abrasive person. For that reason, she butts heads with Yuri quite often. At least knows some powerful Shinsoo techniques, which have been demonstrated by Koon Ran in the story. She is also from the same branch family as Ran.
----

* TheAce: She's a High Ranker, is Koon Eduan's favourite child and was also one of the princesses that helped to take down [[AxCrazy Enne]] [[ActionGirl Zahard]].
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Extremely haughty, and has the balls to demand that Yuri hand over the Black March because she was, 'only a novice.'

Koon Aguero's younger half-sister, [[spoiler: who due to his scheming, became a princess candidate or princess, at the cost of his family branche's position.]] He found that the result left a big hole, even though he did it with the best intentions. He regarded her a pure being untainted by the intrigues in the noble families.

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jaina_7212.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

The Hikkikomori Princess. Locked up in her Lighthouse (the Opera no less), constantly over-seeing the flow of information of the Tower. Yuri believes she is the only one who could find Baam, and she is apparently the only one who knows of the Prince of Zahard. She has not climbed the Tower, has no interest in climbing the Tower and thus isn't a Ranker and has no rank.
----

* AwesomeMcCoolname
* BigBrotherIsWatching: Not a malevolent example, but she uses her Lighthouse to spy on everything occurring in the the Tower.
* GamerChick: Has been playing games in each of her appearances, and references everything in terms of a game.
* {{Hikkikomori}}: A shut-in in her giant castle with a giant Lighthouse.

\\
\\

!!'''Adori Zahard'''

The golden haired, beautiful Princess who also happens to be the strongest and highest ranked active non-Irregular in the Tower.
----

* TheAce: Adori is a High Ranker, the strongest active Princess and she also possesses the Golden November, the only S-ranked weapon of the 13 Month Series.
* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: She is the captain of Zahard's Royal Guards.
* {{Badass}}: She was able to easily defeat a highly ranked Ranker whilst she was still a Regular and, before the Enne Zahard incident, she overwhelmed [[{{Badass}} Garam Zahard]] despite having only recently become a Ranker at the time.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: She has a multitude of male and female fans due to her golden hair and beautiful face.
* TheMagnificent: Adori was given the nickname "Killer Whale" since Killer Whales are the strongest Shinheuh in the Tower.

!!'''Eurasia Enne Zahard'''

An infamous Zahard's Princess that was sealed in an unknown place, alongside her 13 Month Series weapon, after going insane. Also the daughter of Eurasia Blossom and Po Bidau Gustang.
----

* AxCrazy: After receiving the Colourless December, she turned into this. She would pretend to be pacifistic and then attack in anger and even killed others for no reason.
* BrokenAce: Enne is a High Ranker and is tied with Adori Zahard as the strongest Princess and non-Irregular in the Tower. She is also one of four Princesses in-universe that have possessed more than one 13 Month Series weapon at a time.[[note]]Garam, Anak and Yuri are the other three.[[/note]] She just so happens to also be insane.
* {{Badass}}: After Zahard put out an order for her (and Garam Zahard's) capture, she decided to go on the run instead of hiding (like Garam). She knocked down Zahard's men and killed many of the Rankers who chased her, including two other Princesses; overall it took a whole host of Rankers and several Zahard's Princesses (including Maschenny Zahard) to capture her. There's even a rumour that Zahard himself interfered.
* LamarckWasRight: Enne is the daughter of Eurasia Blossom and Po Bidau Gustang, two of the 10 Great Warriors and also two of the most powerful Wave Controllers in the Tower. She is ranked higher than both of them.
* RedBaron: Great White Shark.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: She went insane after receiving the Colourless December, a 13 Month Series. Because the Colourless December was also sealed, due to its sentient half being in a maniacally psychotic state, it's unknown whether the weapon caused Enne to go insane or vice-versa.

[[folder: Guardians]]

Beings that lived in the Tower long before it had been populated by Zahard and other races. Each Guardian is a supreme ruler of their own Floor, and merely accepts the Rulers and Proctors as people doing their work for them. They are the ones who allow people to use Shinsoo on their Floor.
Following tropes go for each one of them:

* [[spoiler:NotSoInvincibleAfterAll: After Enryu killed the 43rd Floor Guardian]]
* PhysicalGod

!!'''Headon'''

[[quoteright:297:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/headon_9021.jpg]]
%%[[caption-width-right:297:some caption text]]

A very freaky rabbit humanoid who is the Guardian of the First Floor. His job is the selection of Regulars, and introducing them to the rules of the Tower as well as providing Pockets. Which he didn't do with Baam. He doesn't like intruders, to say the least.
----

* BizarreAlienBiology: His eyes are in his mouth…
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Nobody quite knows what his alignment, motivation or goals are. But, they more than likely wind up in this territory, given the tests he doles out as part of his job. He has laws... Good luck working them out, though. They seem to shift. Or, are just that convoluted it looks that way.
* TheChessmaster: The number of balls he juggles just the first time you meet him? Yup.
* ChekhovsGunman: He is far more important than he at first seems.
* DeadpanSnarker: Just ask Baam, Evan, Yuri or [[spoiler:Rachel]].
* TheFairFolk: [[LampshadeHanging Gets accused of this even in-world when Rachel called him a Fae]]. Not without cause.
* GreatGazoo: Particularly on his own Floor. This probably goes for all Guardians to a varying degree, depending on their individual personalities and preferences.
* HairRaisingHare: If you fail the test, fail to match up to expectations or just... tickle his funny bone, he suddenly morphs to this, rather than the BunniesForCuteness you might, at first, mistake him to be. If he didn't shoot here directly for you at first glance, that is. That [[NightmareFuel unique]] [[SlasherSmile smile of his]] really helps.
* SecretTestOfCharacter: Appears to be fond of these, despite his denial of Evan's claim regarding Baam's test, he reveals to [[spoiler:Rachel]] that it was indeed a test of courage and true determination. Claiming that Baam was truly worthy to enter the Tower despite how he appeared to first acted when barring Baam's way. [[TheChessmaster Though how sincere this statement was, is up for debate.]]
* SlasherSmile
* TheTrickster/ TricksterMentor/ KarmicTrickster: He's ''definitely'' some brand of trickster-archetype. Working out which one, though, is the problem.

A big eel with a serrated beak. Slightly less creepy than Headon. He's the Guardian of the Second Floor, also known as Evankell's Hell. Thinks Baam looks very tasty.
----

* FlyingSeafoodSpecial
* LastSecondWordSwap: When he first meets Baam to test if he is worthy of Shinsoo, he initially acts surprised but quickly covers it up by claiming that Baam looks tasty.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: While test givers have been various degrees of Jerkass, despite being the Guardian of the Floor he treats Baam kindly and even accepts Baam's request to let all the other Regulars pass should he die.
* SpaceWhale: Not exactly but it is a giant monster-like whale which floats in high concentration Shinsoo with God-like power so yes it is.

* EmpathicWeapon: When ignited, the weapon can take physical form.
* SealedBadassInACan: Every weapon has a soul sealed within them, and if it allows the user to do so, all of the weapons are extremely powerful when ignited.
* TalkingWeapon: Weapons are capable of communicating with their users, if they so choose.
* ThemeNaming: All of them are named in Korean in the general format 'Color Number Moon' (with Black March being 'Black Third Moon', White February being 'White Second Moon'). The hosts of the Workshop Battle. They are also researchers for Workshop, and help in the development for rewards for the Regulars who participate such as the "White Heavenly Mirror" and "Blood Tamara" items.
----

* CurbStompBattle: Both end up on the receiving end of one to Madoraco near the tournament's conclusion.
* TheDividual: Their role in the story is virtually the same.
* {{Expy}}: Considering their appearance, names and musical theme, one can be forgiven to mistake them as DaftPunk.
* FacelessGoons: You never actually get to see their faces.
* HiddenDepths: Shown to both actually be very good guitarists.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Guitars.
* MarriedToTheJob: Appear to love their job in the Workshop as it gives them a chance to further their research.

A researcher in the Tower, and a mother figure to Horyang and Casano. [[spoiler:But according to Emile, her love for them is probably a lie, although Emile is not necessarily truthful.]]
----

* MotherlyScientist: To Horyang and Cassano. [[spoiler:Emile says otherwise, but then again, Emile is NotSoOmniscientAfterAll.]]
** As of chapter 99 of season 2, [[spoiler:she has confirmed that all of her affection was real. She then begs Lero-Ro to protect Horyang, Cassano, Beta and even Viole from all those who would seek to manipulate and use them for their own gain.]]
* WellIntentionedExtremist: [[spoiler:She became a researcher in order to find a way to grant power to the abandoned and enslaved children taken in by the Workshop, so that no one would be able to hurt them anymore, believing that some sacrifices would be needed. Her hopes rode on Horyang and Cassano.]] It wasn't until Viole spoke with her that she finally realizes that what made Horyang and Cassano happy wasn't being given power, but her affection.

A popular chat program in the Tower, introduced on the 21st Floor. She can be asked questions, and she'll answer them correctly. [[spoiler:She's actually an experimental product of the Workshop scientists, and although she potentially knows the answers to everything, she needs to be fed the information first.]]
----

* [[spoiler: DeadAllAlong: She was a Living Ignition Weapon like her fellow subjects Beta and Horyang, but she was melted down with a solvent to become a component in a future weapon. Emily herself still thinks she's a person living in a tank to cope with the trauma]].
* LivingMacGuffin: A lot of people in the Workshop Battle tried to meet her. [[spoiler: The living part is gone though; by the end, FUG steals her as a weapon and to gather information]].
* TheOmniscient: Ask her a question, and she'll give you the right answer. [[spoiler:Although in some cases the answers need to be fed to her first.]]
* [[spoiler:PeopleJars: She's some kind of experimental subject.]]
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Emile or Emily?

The gatekeeper of the Hell Train stationed at Train City. The guardian acts as a defensive system to keep Regulars from boarding the train before the appropriate time.
----

* AmbiguousGender: Implied to be male, but since it's not a real person, it's up for debate as to whether it was programmed to be a male.
* {{Badass}}: Held its own against Koon Ran, Daniel Hatchid ([[{{Troll}} before the latter forces the guardian out of commission]]) and even a group of powerful D-rank Regulars.
* BeamSpam: Its main means of attack seem to be firing spears of shinsoo at enemies.
* BlackCloak: Its clothes.
* GuardianEntity: Programmed to guard the entrance of the Hell Train.
* ProjectedMan: An illusion created to look like a humanoid.
** HandyRemoteControl: And can be activated/deactivated through the simple click of a button on a remote control designed specifically to control the guardian. Both Daniel Hatchid, and Ha Yura, have one.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Baam gets a brief glimpse when he bypasses Mirotic.
* TheStoic: Always has the same calm expression.
* TheQuietOne: Only spoke once to threaten Ran's team, hasn't spoken a word since.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Kind of a mix of blue-and-green, but still self explanatory.
