!! Andrew Wishart
* InvincibleHero: Subverted, despite being the only one of the three contestants who was never in the bottom 2 going in to Final, he placed ''second'' instead.
!! Johnny Ruffo
* MrFanservice: He really worked a Music/JustinTimberlake vibe through the whole competition.
!! Three Wishez
* TwoGuysAndAGirl

!! SamanthaJade
* AffectionateNickname: Sammy.
* AloofDarkHairedGirl
* GoodIsBoring: Her detractors claim this.
* FlawlessVictory: Averted. Special mention of this goes to the fact she was in the Bottom 2 the very first week, so at no point was her campaign flawless.
* TheHerosJourney
* MelismaticVocals
* MsFanservice: Is considered arguably the most attractive female contestant in any season.
* MyGreatestSecondChance: To make it in the music industry.
* PimpedOutDress: The dress for "Wide Awake."
!! Jason Owen
!! The Collective
!! Bella Ferraro
* TheCutie
* FourIsDeath

* TemptingFate: The week of her elimination, the final song she sang before the voting was "The Last Day On Earth".

[[/folder]]
[[folder:Season 5]]
!! Dami Im
* ArcWords: "Awesome singing."
* CharacterDevelopment: Gradually gains a lot of stage presence and confidence from her first audition by the time she makes the final.
* TheChanteuse: The staging and atmosphere for "Saving All My Love For You" was definitely meant to evoke this.
* CompetenceZone: A rare zigzagged example. While she is older than many of the contestants in her season, she is the youngest of the Overs, and even then is only in that category because it was changed from Over 25s to 24s at super Super bootcamp. But then the other two Overs are eliminated within the first three weeks so she becomes the oldest for the last seven weeks . . . however, it is widely agreed she was at the very least one of the best in her season, regardless of age.
* FashionableAsymmetry: The dress for "Bridge Over Troubled Water."
* FlawlessVictory: Unlike Reece Mastin and especially Samantha Jade before her, she was never in the Bottom 2 in her entire run.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: During Week 1, she was the first contestant to be declared safe. Later on she go on to ''place'' first.
* FunnyForeigner: How the show portrays her at the auditions.
* GenkiGirl: She has a very bubbly personality.
* {{Irony}}: Was initially not selected for Home Visits, only come back as a replacement when one of the original six dropped out. She is then selected and proceeds to win the whole thing.
* HappilyMarried: She and her husband Noah love to bring this up.
* KoreanPopMusic: Initially aspired to go into this type of music. However, she decides on more of a powerhouse style of singing after training, which she performed during the show.
* MelismaticVocals: Especially during “Bridge over Troubled Water”, among other performances.
* NoDamageRun: Made it to the Final 3 while never being in the Bottom 2.
* PimpedOutDress: Several. Received a LampshadeHanging one week where, after her performance of "Bridge Over Troubled Water," a hash tag for the performance, #ThatDress, appeared onscreen.
* ShrinkingViolet: At first.
* StatuesqueStunner: She is very tall even without heels, which she usually wears.
* TheCastShowoff: She plays the piano during Week 1 for her performance of "One". Interestingly, this was the only time she did so, a rarity since contestants on these shows who can play instruments will usually play theirs just about every other performance.
* ThePianoPlayer: She taught piano for a living prior to show.
!! Taylor Henderson
!!Jai Waetford
!! Third D3gree
* AerithAndBob: The members are Kelebek, Jacinta and Jordan.
* FourIsDeath: Received fourth place after a being near the bottom of the vote rankings in the latter half of the live shows.
* HopeSpot: Even moreso than Jiordan the week before; as it was their third time in the bottom two and they were against Taylor Henderson, a front runner who was on his first time. Instead of the judges voting them out straight away, the vote was two to one in their favor . . . until Red Foo took it to deadlock. Even then, it was still a better chance as many thought Taylor would automatically be saved, although it didn't make much of a difference in the end.
* KnownOnlyByTheirNickname: Kelebek's real name is Vanessa.
* MyNaymeIs: A rare intended example. Justified in that they're a group.
* PrettyFlyForAWhiteGuy: Although their rapping is considered legitimately good.
* TwoGirlsAndAGuy
* WhoNamesTheirKidDude: "Jacinta" is pretty out there as far as names are concerned, and yes, it is her birth name.
!! Jiordan Tolli
* BreakUpSong: Although many contestants do these, she's notable for doing several: "Smile", "Torn", "Don't Speak," and "Somebody That I Used To Know."
* TheCutie
* DarkerAndEdgier: Her cover of Michael Jackson's "Thriller".
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: From blonde to pink.
* GenkiGirl
* HopeSpot: Despite being on her third trip to the bottom two and being considered the likeliest to leave that week, the judges let the vote between her and Third D3gree go to deadlock . . . only for her to have the lowest votes anyway.
* HypercompetentSidekick: Many noted that her Save Me songs were really good and although she worked well with the songs given to her, she seemed more adept ant song choice than her mentor Red Foo.
* GracefulLoser: Mouths along the lyrics to Third D3gree's performance of Thrift Shop during their "Save Me" performance against her.
* {{Irony}}: Two hours before her performance in Week 4, she started having symptoms of a heart attack, but decides to perform anyway. The song she was singing that week? Ellie Goulding's ''Burn''.
* KindHeartedCatLover
* MsFanservice
* MyNaymeIs: Her name is ''Jiordan''. It's pronounced the way "Jordan" usually is and is almost never seen anywhere else as a variation.
* OneSteveLimit: Subverted. While there are no other soloists named Jordan among the finalists, one of the members of Third D3gree is. He is a guy though.
** Played straight, however, in that no one of note on the show or not has the particular spelling of "Jiordan".
* PinkMeansFeminine: the fake bedroom she starts out in for her cover of "Smile" is almost completely pink.
* SadClown: The theme of her costume for "Don't Speak."
* SceneryPorn: The entire set design for "Smile", full stop.
* TheCoverChangesTheGender: Averted with "With Or Without You" and "Dancing With Myself".
* UnspokenPlanGuarantee: Averted, the platform for "With Or Without You" was supposed to rotate, but it doesn't. She covers this by turning herself around as she stands up.
* VocalRangeExceeded: During her cover of "Burn", the judges noted she sounded like she was straining for the high notes.
* WalkingDisasterArea: During Week 3, the platform she was sitting on had a malfunction and didn't rotate. The following week, she sings despite having symptoms of a heart attack just ''two hours'' prior. Then, during Week 8, there's a little malfuncion for her band's platform. And yet, she carried it all with dignity.
!!OmarDean
* TwoFirstNames
!! JTR
!! Joelle
* TheAtoner: When Redfoo gaver her a no at her audition and was assigned as her mentor, this is what she had to do.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Was in the group "Good Question" the year before and made it all the way to Home Visits before getting eliminated.
* MyGreatestSecondChance
* OneNameOnly: Her last name is Hadija.
!! Ellie Lovegrove
* TheCutie
!! Barry Southgate
!! Cat Vas
* AloofDarkHairedGirl

Not necessarily dark, but a much more maturer season then past ones. The season featured a high quality of singers, as well as two new judges and the return of an old one.
