!Main Characters

[[folder:In General]]

A group of roommates and their landlady's niece.
----
* AbusiveParents: Except for Yuki and Sunako, they had emotionally abusive parents. Kyohei's neglected him while Takanaga and Ranmaru had their lives set up by theirs.
* ButtMonkey: Nothing ever goes right for them. If something seems to go right, it usually ends with StatusQuoIsGod.
* ChickMagnet: A RunningGag in the series is them attracting the attention of numerous women, be it intentional or not. It gets played to BlackComedy levels in the ValentinesDayEpisode.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: They're all fairly rude and crass, but when you look past it, they're decent people. Yuki is the only one who's a full-fledged NiceGuy.
* PrettyFreeloader: They want to be this which is the reason why they took Sunako in the first place.

[[folder:Sunako Nakahara]]
!!Sunako Nakahara
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nakahara_sunako.png]]

->Voiced by: Yukiko Takaguchi (JP), Creator/HannahAlcorn (EN)
->Portrayed by: Aya Ōmasa

Sunako is a girl who usually locks herself away inside her room and chooses to live without any desire for light or beauty after a traumatic experience when she was rejected and told that she was ugly by her first love.
-----
* TheAce: When Sunako tries, she can be decently good at almost anything - even the more feminine arts. The trick is getting her to care.
* ActionGirl: She can out run, out jump and beat up most characters.
* AllergicToLove: Sunako can't have a single intimate moment with "Bright Creatures", especially Kyohei, without freaking out and getting nosebleeds to the point of hemorrhage.
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: Whenever she breaks out of her SuperDeformed mode, she becomes a black-haired beauty with an aloof and graceful attitude.
* BeautifulAllAlong: She turns into a total beauty whenever she gains enough confidence to break out of her SuperDeformed mode.
* BelligerentSexualTension: With Kyohei. They bicker, fight, and piss each other off every day. They're attracted to each other, but both are stuck in extreme denial about it.
* {{Bifauxnen}}: In Chapter 59, Sunako dresses like a guy to go to a mixer with some girls from school. She looks so cool and handsome that the girls end up [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer swooning over]] ''[[EvenTheGirlsWantHer her]]'' instead of any of the actual guys at the mixer.
* BrattyTeenageDaughter: Subverted. While she initially comes off as cold towards her father, it's actually revealed to be an act to keep him from going into her room and freaking out as unlike her, he's terrified of the macabre.
* BrilliantButLazy: Sunako is actually a very smart and talented girl who can excel at anything she does, even at acting like a ProperLady. The problem is that she usually doesn't want to do anything but hole herself up in her dark and creepy room.
* CantLiveWithThemCantLiveWithoutThem: Sunako is always trying to get the hell away from Kyohei because she can't stand to look at his beautiful face without getting a massive {{nosebleed}}. When she accidentally makes Kyohei run away from home after an argument, however, Sunako feels guilty and actually starts missing Kyohei at the house, driving her to join the other guys in a live broadcast where they ask Kyohei to come home.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Sunako lives in her own crazy and creepy world.
* CoolBigSister: She takes a caring sisterly role towards Yuki's younger siblings, Gin and Yae, who quickly get attached to her.
* CreepyLonerGirl: She apparently was a normal girl once, but getting rejected by her crush shocked her so much that she took on an extremely gloomy personality, got obsessed with creepy stuff and no one would be blamed for mistaking her for a StringyHairedGhostGirl. Her only "friends" are the anatomical dolls she keeps in her bedroom. Her housemates have the mission to change her from this to a ProperLady.
* DaddysGirl: She had a very close relationship with her father when she was little. He's very sad that she grew very distant from him as a teenager, but she still loves him and is pushing him away because she knows he gets freaked out by all the scary stuff that she loves.
* DontLookAtMe: At first, she hates letting people look at her "ugly" face and uses her bangs to hide it. When Kyohei forcefully pulls up her bangs, the guys discover her face is actually pretty cute, if only sorely lacking in facial care.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: With her sickly pale skin, long black hair and ultra creepy behaviour, it's easy to mistake her for a StringyHairedGhostGirl.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Hilariously enough Kyohei's goth stalker fan club ends up falling for her.
* EverybodyHatesMathematics: Math is the only school subject in which she doesn't get good grades. It's not because she finds it difficult, but [[BrilliantButLazy she's too lazy to do calculations]].
* EyesOutOfSight: In her chibi version, her bangs hide her eyes.
* FeminineWomenCanCook: Inverted. Despite her love of the macabre, Sunako is an excellent cook and is also very skilled at domestic tasks like laundry, cleaning and sewing. In fact when the other female cast members need to learn these traditionally feminine skills, they turn to her.
* TheFirstCutIsTheDeepest: After her first love rejected by calling her ugly, she turned into the gloomy and isolated girl she is now. This eventually gets subverted when it's made clear Sunako isn't bothered by the rejection anymore and she continues to act the same way. She met her first love again and turned out to have partly forgotten about the incident. It seems that besides the initial hurt, this is who she is and she's perfectly happy with it.
* FriendToAllChildren: Sunako bonds easily with children - she's notably more patient and understanding around them.
* GirlsLoveChocolate: She ''loves'' chocolate.
* {{Goth}}: She's a reclusive loner with a big love for the [[NightmareFetishist macabre]].
* HeyYou: She only calls the guys "Bright Creatures" and doesn't refer to any of them by name even after she more or less gets used to living with them.
* HidingBehindYourBangs: When she's introduced, her long bangs hide her eyes, representing her antisocial attitude. She cuts them after her classmates tell her the bangs on her face only make her stand out more.
* {{Hikikomori}}: She does go to school, but she prefers to spend most of her time shut inside her dark room with her anatomical dolls.
* HimeCut: She has blunt bangs, bra strap length sidelocks, and waist length straight hair. It's PlayedWith since her aunt ''wants'' her to be a YamatoNadeshiko, but Sunako perfers to be a CreepyLonerGirl.
* IAmNotPretty: Sunako believes she is ugly simply because a boy she liked told her she was. Cue the whole series revolving around her "ugliness", even though she looks beautiful when she isn't in SuperDeformed mode.
* InconvenientAttraction: The sole thought of acknowledging any romantic feelings she has for Kyohei sends Sunako into panic and denial because she's afraid love will change the way she is.
* LonelyDollGirl: She has two ''anatomical'' dolls that she considers to be her friends.
* LonersAreFreaks: She spends most of her time shut inside her bedroom where she keeps all her spooky stuff, like the anatomical dolls that she considers her only friends.
* MaybeEverAfter: Sunako keeps refusing to even acknowledge the possibility that she's in love with Kyohei right to the end of the final chapter, but she does admit he's "particularly bright" to her.
* MiseryTrigger: After her first kiss with Kyohei, Sunako blocks the memory, but just hearing any word that sounds like "kiss" (or "shu" in Japanese) causes her to mentally shut down.
* MistakenForUndead: People usually mistake her for a StringyHairedGhostGirl because of how creepy she is.
* MoreInsultingThanIntended: When she's stuck at Kyohei's parents' house, Sunako yells to Kyohei that she doesn't want to be anywhere near him. Since she's ''always'' telling him that during their squabbles, she didn't think Kyohei would be too hurt, not realizing that she hit a sore spot since she basically said the same thing that Kyohei's mother told him when she threw him out of the house. She realizes her mistake when Kyohei ends up running away from the house and makes up for it by helping the other guys bring Kyohei back home.
* NightmareFetishist: She loves horror movies, anatomical dolls, ghosts and monsters, and basically anything that's considered spooky or creepy.
* {{Nosebleed}}: Her reaction to seeing "Bright Creatures" is spilling crazy amounts of blood from her nose. In the most extreme cases, she can leave a room looking like a murder scene.
* ObliviousToLove: Pretty much all the romantic subtext between her and Kyohei goes right over her head.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: She repeatedly claims she's the only one who can kill the "Bright Creature" (Kyohei). This is her excuse for why she always comes to his rescue when he's in trouble.
* TheOphelia: A comedic parody of this. Her erratic and strange behavior make her look like a madwoman at times, but her crazy antics and obsession with the macabre are always PlayedForLaughs.
* PostKissCatatonia: Whenever she kisses Kyohei, she almost dies from a massive {{nosebleed}} and/or goes into severe catatonia.
* RavenHairIvorySkin: When she's cleaned up, Sunako turns into a gorgeous lady with pale white skin and long black hair that fits perfectly the image of the traditional Japanese beauty everyone wants her to be.
* SheCleansUpNicely: She usually looks like a StringyHairedGhostGirl, but when she dresses up, she actually can look like the beautiful YamatoNadeshiko others want her to be.
* SuperDeformed: She spends almost all the time in chibi mode. She's only drawn in the normal artstyle when she gets confidence.
* SupremeChef: She can cook delicious Japanese dishes.
* TeamChef: She's in charge of cooking at the mansion because none of the guys are good at it.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Tomboy to Noi's Girly Girl. Sunako is a {{Goth}} who loves creepy stuff and is a very good fighter, in contrast to the girly Noi who is a hopeless romantic.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: Though she isn't exactly into traditionally masculine activities, she avoids traditionally feminine activities in every way and loves anything creepy. She also has surprising domestic skills.
* TooMuchAlike: Superficial differences aside, she's very similar to Kyohei in that they're both very stubborn, immature and short-tempered teenagers. This is the main reason why they almost never get along despite the underlying attraction between them.
* TraumaButton: Calling her ugly makes her recall the time her crush coldly rejected her with that insult. It gets subverted when she faces the guy who rejected her and doesn't let it get to her when he calls her ugly again, realizing that she's completely over his rejection and has moved on.
* {{Tsundere}}: Towards Kyohei. She hates being around him because his beauty could kill her from a {{nosebleed}} and his insufferable attitude certainly doesn't help. Deep down, she does care about him and can show it in her own way on occasion.
* UglyGuysHotDaughter: Compared to her father, Sunako looks more attractive. When she isn't in SuperDeformed mode, it's obvious she takes after her beautiful mother in looks.
* UnknowinglyInLove: She absolutely ''refuses'' to even entertain the thought that she's in love with Kyohei- going as far as to say 'Love is an illusion'.
* UsedToBeMoreSocial: Before her first love rejected her, she used to hang out with other girls normally. Now she'd rather to shut herself in her room and talk to her anatomical dolls than getting close to real people.
* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: More like pseudo-love interest but either way, hurting Kyohei is a sure fire way to trigger Sunako unleashing a brutal no holds barred beatdown on the one responsible.
* WeakenedByTheLight: She feels weakened by exposure to light and "bright creatures".
* WeWantOurJerkBack: After eating some magic mushrooms, Sunako transforms into an demure, elegant, and polite young lady. However, the boys realize it's too extreme a change and try various methods to restore her to normal.
* WhatIsThisFeeling: The last chapter has Sunako totally confused when she ''finally'' recognizes her feelings for Kyohei aren't just friendship, then she gets freaked out as she can no longer deny what she's feeling is what others call romantic love. She goes back to normal after Kyohei tells her nothing that happens between them will ever make her change, even if she does ever fall in love.
* WhenSheSmiles: After Kyohei gets Hiroshi back from the three schoolgirls, Sunako gives him a rather beautiful smile, much to the others' shock.
* YamatoNadeshiko: She is supposed to become one, she has the domestic skills and looks (when she isn't drawn chibi-style) but she's made the conscious decision to let all the other traits slide due to first reject trauma.

[[folder:Kyohei Takano]]
!!Kyohei Takano
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/takano_kyohei.png]]

->Voiced by: Creator/ShowtaroMorikubo (JP), Creator/JessieJamesGrelle (EN)
->Portrayed by: Kazuya Kamenashi

The most popular and physically attractive of the four boys. Kyohei is initially seen as selfish, blunt, and demanding and has no inclination to be gentle towards Sunako unless it will reduce rent, but eventually develops feelings for her.
-----
* BaitAndSwitchSentiment: In Chapter 126, Kyohei says he cares a lot about Sunako, but as a friend. Everyone but Sunako has a FaceFault over Kyohei continuing to deny the romantic attraction between him and Sunako.
* BelligerentSexualTension: With Sunako. As much as they fight and piss each other off, they do have feelings for each other. Both would rather die than admit it, though.
* BigEater: He really likes to eat a lot.
* BrilliantButLazy: He's effortlessly amazing at sports and hinted to be smarter than you'd expect. It's just that he's lazy, selfish and easily distracted so he never applies himself.
* CrazyJealousGuy: He gets easily jealous when he thinks someone else is interested in Sunako. Pretty much anyone who touches Sunako will get him riled up.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: He was stalked, kidnapped, and molested continuously, starting from when he was a ''child.'' His mother blamed him for the constant harassment he attracted to the house and effectively threw him out of the house when she couldn't take it anymore.
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: He gains the attraction of both women and men because of how good-looking he is.
* FavorsForTheSexy: As much as he hates his looks, Kyohei is not above accepting favors and (especially) food for being beautiful.
* HairTriggerTemper: Even a minor annoyance causes him to start yelling and punching.
* HollywoodGenetics: He looks nothing like his parents, who are both rather plain-looking compared to his PrettyBoy looks. Even their hair colors are totally different. His own mother thinks she could only give birth to such a beautiful son through some sort of genetic mutation.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He's rude, greedy, and unpleasant in general, but he does show a soft and morally correct side, especially towards Sunako.
* JustFriends: The farthest he and Sunako can go is admitting they care about each other as friends, with both being in complete denial about romantic love being more than an illusion. Any act of physical intimacy between them that could lead to a RelationshipUpgrade always results in Sunako getting a massive nosebleed and passing out. At the end of the series, however, Sunako might be starting to realize Kyohei isn't just a friend to her after all.
* LikeParentLikeSpouse: His mother doesn't want to be around him because she finds him "too bright to look at" and when she gets angry, she looks like a terrifying demon. Sunako outright calls Kyohei's mother the same type of person as her.
* {{Manchild}}: He's in high school, but often behaves like a bratty kid, especially during his squabbles with Sunako. As constantly lampshaded, Kyohei can be very immature at times.
* MaybeEverAfter: At the end of the manga, Kyohei knows Sunako isn't ready to fall in love and he chooses to leave their relationship just the way it is. There might still be some hope for them in the future, though.
* NeverGetsFat: He loves shrimp, fried things, meat, and generally unhealthy food. Despite this, he never seems to gain a single pound.
* ObliviousToLove: Not quite as bad as Sunako (he realized that he liked her way before she did) but people had to beat him over the head with the idea.
* ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything: After running away from the house, Kyohei started a gang of juvenile delinquents who perform random acts of community service.
* TheRunaway: He ran away from home after he got fed up with the stalking from all the women of his hometown, as well as his mother's emotional abuse caused by the stress of the mess with the stalkers. The Landlady found him on the street and took him to the mansion. He later runs away from the mansion after a bad argument with Sunako, but comes back after he watches his housemates asking him to come back on TV.
* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: He vehemently denies having any sort of romantic interest in Sunako, even though everyone else thinks otherwise.
* SoBeautifulItsACurse: Not only do his looks make him a usual target of sexual harassment and stalkers, but also ruins his relationship with his mother.
* SourOutsideSadInside: He has been sexually harassed and almost kidnapped repeatedly from a young age because of his good looks. His own mother couldn't stand to live with him due to the stress of dealing with his crazy stalkers every day and Kyohei ran away from home when it became too much. When he first arrived at the mansion, he was an angry and violent jerk who made fun of Yuki despite his attempts to help drive away his stalkers. He started to open up to his housemates when he realized they wouldn't throw him out of the house like his mother did.
* ThroughHisStomach: He [[SheIsNotMyGirlfriend denies that he has feelings for Sunako]], but admits that he likes her cooking.
* TooMuchAlike: He constantly clashes with Sunako because both are equally immature and short-tempered.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Strawberries. His love for Fried Shrimp seems to be more prevalent though.
* UnexpectedVirgin: He's said to have been constantly harassed and molested his entire life. Revealed to be a BaitAndSwitch in volume 35, in which Ranmaru correctly surmises that he's a virgin.
* UnknowinglyInLove: He absolutely ''refuses'' to even entertain the thought that he's in love with Sunako- using the excuse that he 'loves her food'.
* WalkingTheEarth: Following his bittersweet reunion with his parents, Kyohei leaves the house to start anew. Sunako and the others convince him to come back however.
* WeWantOurJerkBack: Whenever he becomes a NiceGuy, people usually end up freaking out and demanding to act jerkish like usual.

!!Takenaga Oda
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/oda_takenaga.png]]

->Voiced by: Creator/TomokazuSugita (JP), Creator/VicMignogna (EN)
->Portrayed by: Hiroki Uchi

Takenaga was originally from a wealthy family descended from flower masters, but when the pressure of being the family heir was too much, he became completely withdrawn and ignored everyone. He was sent to live at the Landlady's mansion in hopes of becoming more "normal".
-----
* BetaCouple: He's in an actually functional relationship with Noi, all while Sunako and Kyohei never move past the state of denial.
* BrainyBrunette: He's black-haired and the smartest of the main guys.
* DefrostingIceKing: When he first arrived at the mansion, Takenaga was very cold and antisocial because of his highly strict upbringing. Thanks to becoming friends with his housemates, he became a warmer person, although he still struggles with expressing emotion openly at times.
* EmotionallyTongueTied: He truly loves Noi, but is terrible at communicating it. This leads to hilarious shenanigans.
* InsufferableGenius: When he first arrived to the mansion, Takenaga was an arrogant and self-centered smartass who treated his housemates very rudely. His personality got better after he became friends with his housemates and started dating Noi.
* LonelyRichKid: He grew up in a wealthy and traditional family that put so much pressure on him that he became an antisocial InsufferableGenius with no interest in even talking to other people. He was sent to live at the mansion so he would become more sociable.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: The Savvy Guy to Noi's Energetic Girl. Takenaga is coolheaded and intellectual, while Noi is bubbly and perky.
* SickeninglySweethearts: He and Noi can get a little too cheesy and lovey-dovey with each other.
* TheSmartGuy: He's the most intellectual of the main cast.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: He's introverted, coolheaded, and acts distant to everyone, even his girlfriend Noi. He does love Noi and cares about his friends, although it takes him work to show it openly.
* TallDarkAndHandsome: He's a tall, black-haired, and gorgeous young man.

[[folder:Ranmaru Morii]]
!!Ranmaru Morii
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/morii_ranmaru.png]]

->Voiced by: Creator/HirofumiNojima (JP), Creator/ChrisPatton (EN)
->Portrayed by: Shuntaro Miyao

Ranmaru is a ladies' man. The very sight of Sunako initially has him breaking out in hives, but when her true beauty is revealed, he decides that she has "potential" to become a real lady. Like Takenaga, he comes from a wealthy family (who own a series of hotel chains), but was sent to live with the Landlady because he exploited his wealth and his parents wanted him to become "normal".
-----
* TheCasanova: He's often going out with various beautiful older (and often married) women.
* ChivalrousPervert: He's a big playboy with tons of girlfriends. He's also a true friend to the main group and will never forgive anyone who insults Sunako, even when an attractive woman does it.
* CommitmentIssues: He does have some feelings for Tamao, but he really doesn't want to give up his womanizing ways and settle down with anyone yet.
* HandsomeLech: Ranmaru always had good looks and money to attract women, but he originally acted like a lecherous jerk who pissed the Landlady off when he tried to make a move on her.
* LadykillerInLove: His parents want to set him up in an ArrangedMarriage with Tamao in hopes of fixing his playboy ways. Ranmaru hates the idea, but he finds himself developing feelings for Tamao.
* MillionairePlayboy: He's a notorious playboy and the only son of a wealthy family of hotel chain owners.
* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: He's named after Mori Ranmaru, the male attendant to the famous UsefulNotes/OdaNobunaga.
* PerfectlyArrangedMarriage: With Tamao. She really loves him and it's hinted that he's becoming a LadykillerInLove for her.
* PrincelyYoungMan: He's a PrettyBoy from a very wealthy family. Yuki compared Ranmaru to a prince when they first met.
* SerialHomewrecker: He's known to repeatedly get involved with married women.
* SpoiledBrat: When he moved into the mansion, Ranmaru was a spoiled and arrogant rich boy, acting like a total jerk towards the guys. He got better after he became friends with his housemates.
* {{Tsundere}}: He refuses to acknowledge that he likes Tamao, but chases after her whenever his womanizer behavior drives her away.
* WantedASonInstead: His parents flat-out admit that they wanted a girl in his first meeting with Tamao.

->Voiced by: Yuuya Yamauchi (JP), Creator/GregAyres (EN)
->Portrayed by: Yuya Tegoshi

The most "normal" of the four boys; before coming to live at the mansion he had a normal school life with a middle-class family. His mother and the Landlady are old friends and the Landlady, and Sunako at times, has a soft spot for Yuki.
-----

* DisguisedInDrag: He frequently finds himself having to dress up like a girl, whether for disguises or to trick someone.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: He looks so much like a girl that Ranmaru tried to hit on him in their first meeting.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: His blond hair is one of the indicators of how nice he is.
* TheHeart: He's the most sensitive and empathetic of the main group. It's thanks to him that the guys managed to become friends in the first place since the others were originally selfish jerks until Yuki's good heart softened them.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Some of his comments make Machiko [[InsecureLoveInterest insecure about their relationship]]. He tells her that he likes she isn't a girly girl and has fun hanging out with her, but Machiko takes it as Yuki saying he sees her as OneOfTheBoys instead of a girlfriend. Then Machiko tries to act girlier during their next date, only for Yuki to tell her she's creeping him out. After Machiko runs away crying, Yuki realizes he hurt her feelings.
* {{Keet}}: He's a cheerful, optimistic, and cute boy.
* NiceGuy: He's the nicest of the boys in the mansion.

[[folder:Noi Kasahara]]
!!Noi Kasahara
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kasahara_noi.png]]

->Voiced by: Creator/MaiNakahara (JP), Creator/JessicaBoone (EN)
->Portrayed by: Ranko Kobe

Takenaga's girlfriend. She is pretty and exceedingly popular. Noi is Sunako's closest friend at school, where Sunako is scorned for her terrifying demeanor and association with the boys. She admires Sunako's tough attitude.
-----
* BetaCouple: With Takenaga. They're the only completely normal couple in the series, in sharp contrast to Sunako and Kyohei's utterly dysfunctional relationship status of never-changing denial.
* FeminineWomenCanCook: Inverted. In contrast to Sunako, Noi is completely hopeless at domestic duties
* {{Foil}}: To Sunako. Noi is outgoing, cheerful, and widely regarded as the most beautiful girl at school.
* HonoraryTrueCompanion: She doesn't live at the mansion with Sunako and the boys. However, since she's Takenaga's girlfriend and wants Sunako to be a lady too, she gets just as much exposure as the boys.
* NiceGirl: She's sweet and friendly.
* OddFriendship: She's the only girl who isn't scared of Sunako's creepiness and becomes her only female friend despite being her polar opposite.
* PostKissCatatonia: She faints after Takenaga gives her a kiss at the end of the trip to the hot springs.
* RoseHairedSweetie: She has rose-colored hair and very sweet, bubbly personality.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: The Energetic Girl to Takenaga's Savvy Guy. Noi is bubbly and perky, while Takenaga is coolheaded and intellectual.
* ShipperOnDeck: She believes that Sunako and Kyohei are compatible as a couple. She's extremely frustrated by their total cluelessness about romance, especially regarding each other.
* SickeninglySweethearts: Her scenes with Takenaga sometimes get overly sugary sweet.
* StockShoujoHeroine: Noi represents all the traditional {{Shojo}} heroine characteristics that Sunako lacks -- an energetic and a bit clumsy sweetheart who is obsessed with romance.
* ThinksLikeARomanceNovel: Her efforts to get Sunako and Kyohei together are ripped straight from cheesy romance mangas. Because of the way Sunako and Kyohei are, Noi's romantic scenarios never work for them.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Girly Girl to Sunako's Tomboy. Noi is a normal and feminine teenage girl, being a sharp contrast to the creepy and horror-obsessed {{Goth}} Sunako.

* YamatoNadeshiko: Sweet and demure, but also has the subtle touch of strength.

* WantedAGenderConformingChild: She wants her niece Sunako to be a feminine lady who enjoys dress-up and makeup, instead of a CreepyLonerGirl obsessed with the macabre and horror movies.
* WhyCouldntYouBeDifferent: She hates the way Sunako turned out a creepy girl obsessed with spooky stuff. She wants the guys to "fix" her by changing her into a YamatoNadeshiko.

[[folder:Mr. Nakahara]]
!!Mr. Nakahara
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mr_nakahara.png]]

* AbsurdPhobia: Despite being so tough and intimidating, he's terrified of spooky stuff. When he sees [[NightmareFetishist Sunako's]] creepy bedroom, he passes out.
* BoyfriendBlockingDad: He literally [[BurningWithAnger bursts into flames]] when his sister tells him she sent Sunako to live with four hot guys and he gets the impression Kyohei is Sunako's boyfriend. When he catches a naked Kyohei with Sunako, he immediately challenges him to a duel.
* FaceOfAThug: Because of his large size and stern-looking face, the boys mistake him for a {{yakuza}}, but he's a soft and caring father for Sunako.
* MistakenForGay: He peeps at Kyohei in the bathroom and compliments his well-built body. Kyohei then asks Sunako if her dad is gay or at least bisexual. Actually, Mr. Nakahara just wants to make sure Sunako's potential boyfriend has a good physique.
* PapaWolf: He once fought and tamed a ''bear'' to protect Sunako.
* SharedFamilyQuirks: Like his daughter, he often scares the people around him.
* UglyGuyHotWife: Because he's so big and imposing, the boys are pleasantly surprised to see his wife is really beautiful.
* UnnamedParent: He's only known as "Sunako's father".
* WhyCouldntYouBeDifferent: Even though he loves Sunako very much, he's freaked out when he finds out about her obsession with the macabre and ''begs'' Kyohei to turn her into a normal person.

Sunako's mother.
-----
* EffortlessAmazonianLift: She can effortlessly carry her much larger husband over her shoulder.
* FeminineMotherTomboyishDaughter: She's a gentle and feminine mother, while her daughter is a CreepyLonerGirl who loves everything that is creepy and bloody.
* GoodParents: She's a very loving and understanding mother to Sunako.
* HeadTurningBeauty: The boys are awestricken by how beautiful she is.
* OpenMindedParent: Unlike her husband and sister-in-law, she doesn't see anything wrong with Sunako's [[NightmareFetishist morbid tastes]] and loves her daughter just the way she is.
* RavenHairIvorySkin: Like her daughter, she has black hair and pale skin. Since she lacks Sunako's EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette traits, the boys are mesmerized by her beauty.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: She looks like a slightly older version of Sunako's beautiful mode.
* UglyGuyHotWife: Her husband is a large man who gets confused by a {{Yakuza}} or a monster because of his intimidating looks. On the other hand, she's gorgeous.
* UnnamedParent: She's only known as "Sunako's mother".

Kyohei's mother.
-----
* AbusiveMom: The stress of living alone with Kyohei and dealing with harassment from his crazy fangirls on a daily basis caused her to snap and turn emotionally abusive towards him as she blamed him for everything and wanted him gone for her peace of mind.
* DemonHead: She takes a demonic appearance when angry, terrifying her husband.
* HairTriggerTemper: Her son seems to have gotten his short temper from her, since even the smallest provocation sends her into a demonic rage.
* MoodSwinger: Whenever Kyohei is involved, she ''very'' abruptly switches from being calm and guilt-ridden to angry and abusive.
* MotherlySidePlait: She's a mother wearing her hair in a loose ponytail over her left shoulder.
* ParentsAsPeople: She does regret having driven Kyohei out of the house with her verbal abuse, but being around him causes her to easily lose her temper because she's jealous of his beauty and she just can't handle living with him because his tons of stalkers take all peace out of her daily life.
* UnnamedParent: Like other parents in the series, her first name is unknown.
* WhyCouldntYouBeDifferent: She resents that Kyohei is near-superhumanly beautiful because she thinks he makes her look ugly in comparison and the crowds of fangirls he attracts made it impossible for her to have a normal life with him.

Kyohei's father.
-----
* HenpeckedHusband: He's ''terrified'' of his wife and can't talk back to her, especially when she brings out her DemonHead.
* UnnamedParent: We never learn his first name.
* UselessBystanderParent: He often left his wife and son alone at home for his work, resulting in his wife driving Kyohei out of the house when she couldn't handle being harassed by his fangirls anymore. Even after he comes back home, he's too terrified of his wife's temper to stop her from verbally abusing Kyohei again and only stands by as his son decides to leave the house once more.

Yukinojo's girlfriend.
-----
* AdaptedOut: She doesn't appear in the anime.
* AscendedExtra: She was only supposed to appear once in Volume 2, but she ended up becoming a recurring character and the love interest of a main cast member.
* BirdsOfAFeather: With Yuki. Both are equally nice and peppy.
* BoyishShortHair: She's a tomboyish girl with short hair.
* TheBusCameBack: While she briefly appeared in the early volumes, she moves to America in Volume 14. She doesn't appear again until she returns to Japan in Volume 21.
* EarlyInstallmentCharacterDesignDifference: In early volumes, her face and hairstyle were slightly different because the mangaka asked another artist to draw Machiko. Tomoko Hayakawa started to draw Machiko herself from Volume 21 on.
* FemininityFailure: In [[ADayInTheLimelight her character focus chapter]], Machiko thinks Yuki might just see her as OneOfTheBoys. She attempts to learn traditionally feminine skills, but fails at everything she tries. Then she dresses up for a date with Yuki, but her girly behavior is so obviously forced that Yuki gets creeped out and asks her to act like she always does.
* TheGenericGirl: She's rather average in looks and her only personality trait is being a NiceGirl.
* GirlNextDoor: She's the most "ordinary" of the main guys' official love interests, has a nice and approachable personality, and is a bit of a tomboy. Her dates with Yuki usually look more like two best friends hanging out, and Yuki likes it that way.
* InsecureLoveInterest: She's considered [[GenericCuteness rather plain-looking]], causing her to feel a bit insecure about whether a popular PrettyBoy like Yuki really finds her attractive.
* LongDistanceRelationship: Although she's Yuki's girlfriend, she moves to America because of her father's job in Volume 14. She isn't seen together with Yuki again until she comes back to Japan in Volume 21.
* NiceGirl: She's a sweet and bubbly girl.
* NoFullNameGiven: Her surname isn't ever mentioned.
* SatelliteLoveInterest: There isn't much to her character outside of being Yuki's nice girlfriend. The few chapters where she appears focus entirely on her relationship with Yuki.

Four girls who are completely obsessed with the main boys.
-----
* AscendedExtra: They're very minor characters in the manga, but in the anime they show up much more often to provide consistent comic relief.
* ButtMonkey: Is the butt of constant jokes especially when their schemes fail miserably.
* CharacterTics: In every scene depicting them, they are often distinguished by their crossed fingers and arms waving like octopus tentacles.
* TheDividual: They're like four copies of the same character. Only their hair colors and styles are different.
* ElegantGothicLolita: They dress in Gothic Lolita fashion.
* {{Fangirl}}: They're all obsessive fans of Kyohei, Takenaga, Ranmaru, and Yuki.
* {{Gonk}}: They're very weird girls dressed in black gothic outfits.
* ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything: Introduced in their first appearance as the most feared gang in the school, but aside from one moment where they bully Sunako, most of the time they amount to little more than comic relief that the main characters are barely even aware of.
* VerbalTic: They often end their sentences with "nu" ("nay" in the English dub).
