!The Sims 3

[[folder:Sunset Valley]]

!!The Goth Family
Mortimer Goth appears here as a child, living with his middle-aged parents, Gunther and Cornelia, and a whole lot of ghosts.
* AdaptationalAttractiveness: Gunther and Cornelia. Understandable, since before ''3'' they were either elderly, or dead and elderly.
* ContinuitySnarl: Gunther and Cornelia are way older here, than originally thought, barely a week away from becoming elders. For reference, in The Sims 1, twenty-five years later they only appeared somewhat elderly, and if memories in The Sims 2 are to be believed, they lived pretty much until right before the start of the game, a full ''fifty'' years later.
** Also, the previous games mentioned they came from the "Old Country", recently enough that Mortimer was born there. Here it's stated that they founded Sunset Valley, a pretty decently sized town, which, in order to line up with the previous games would mean they did that in only a few in-game days (Children age up way faster).
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Gunther's sister Frida is nowhere to be found this time around.
** [[AvertedTrope Averted]], however when Frida reappears with her uncle Samuel in Moonlight Falls from The Sims 3: Supernatural.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: Mortimer and Bella Bachelor are best friends in-game. Canonically, they get married in adulthood.
* CuteGhostGirl: Lolita Goth, who's buried in the graveyard at the back of the house. Unlike the other ghosts in the house, who are all parents and grandparents of Gunther and Cornelia, her exact connection to the family is unclear. She's also a young adult, while all the other ghosts are elders, and is indeed very cute-looking. {{Fanon}} often regards her as Gunther's first wife and TheLostLenore, which might in turn account for his poor relationship with his wife (see below).
* GenerationXerox: It's shown that Mortimer, just like his son Alexander was born to old, already well-established parents.
* GothsHaveItHard: Puns aside, they all seem to have the Grumpy trait, which puts them in a consistently foul mood, even with the massive fortune and the huge mansion
* DeadSparks: Gunther and Cornelia are married and have a high enough relationship to count as friends, but aren't close enough to [=WooHoo=] or even engage in some lower-scoring romantic interactions, and it will take some time for the player to raise their relationship score high enough. (This isn't helped one bit by Cornelia's Unflirty trait, which basically makes it extremely difficult to get her into any kind of romantic STC.) They even appear to have separate bedrooms.
* {{Goth}}: It shows a lot more in this game with dark purple top hats, long dresses with a black and white shirt and a ton of eyeliner.
* {{Guyliner}}: For Gunther, though it's understandable why he has it considering his gothic hair and clothes.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Gunther and Cornelia are middle-aged yet looks like twenty-years old when it comes to their faces.
* PerkyGoth: Though at a lower level. Gunther, Mortimer and Cornelia are all friendly but also gloomy and a bit grumpy.
* SpinOffBabies: Mortimer, one of the most popular characters in the series, appeared as a grown man with a wife and child in ''The Sims'' and an elderly widower in ''The Sims 2''. In this prequel, he's an elementary school kid, alongside his future wife and a few of their adulthood acquaintances.

!!The Bachelor Family
The future Mrs Bella Goth appears here as a child, alongside her parents and teenage brother, Michael.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: Bella and Mortimer Goth are best friends in-game, and canonically will get married when they reach adulthood.
* LovableJock: While Michael certainly is a jock, he is still quite a nice guy.
* PerkyGoth: Bella's bedroom decor hints at her interest in the gothic (foreshadowing her future marriage to Mortimer), but her outfits are all brightly coloured pinks and reds, and she's a very cheery and popular little girl.
* {{Retcon}}: Previous games had hinted that Bella's family were somewhat supernatural, with the ''Bustin' Out'' spin-off from the first game outright stating that her ancestors were all "occultists, mystics and decadents", and the ''Makin' Magic'' expansion to the [=PC=] original all but stating she's a witch. In this game, they're an extremely vanilla middle-class family, the only concession being Bella's bedroom decorated with gothic wallpaper and bedspread.
* SpinOffBabies: Bella is a child in this prequel, which can be considered a bit of a FanDisservice considering her iconic status as a sexy, mysterious adult woman in most of the other games.
** Michael might also count, though he's a teen and his [[ContinuitySnarl time-line]] in the series is much less clear than Bella's, with his ''The Sims 1'' appearance only in his early twenties, despite the nominal 25-year time-skip. {{Fanon}} often gets around this by considering the ''[=TS1=]'' Michael the son of the ''[=TS2/3=]'' Michael(s), which would put this trope into effect for him as well.

!!The Langerak Family
An up-and-coming middle class family consisting of workaholic mother Iliana, stay-at-home dad Dustin, teenage son and aspiring ladies' man Parker, and LegacyCharacter and compulsively neat daughter Kaylynn. Rounding off the family is Zelda Mae, Iliana's plant-obsessed younger sister.
* AscendedExtra: Kaylynn Langerak was an [=NPC=] maid with a minor story role in Pleasantview in ''The Sims 2''. In the prequel, she's a playable character with an extended family in tow consisting of parents, older brother and maternal aunt.
* ContinuitySnarl: Kaylynn appears in ''2'' as a young woman, probably not more than forty-ish at the outside story-wise, yet is ''older'' than Mortimer Goth in this game, who is elderly in ''2''.
* SiblingTriangle: Many players have noted the tendency of Dustin and Zelda to roll wants to flirt with each other, despite being siblings-in-law. This, coupled with Dustin and Iliana's reatively low starting relationship score, can easily become a full-blown example of this trope.
* SiblingYinYang[=/=]FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: Zelda and Iliana, respectively. They even look disparate, with Zelda having long, loose blonde hair and dressing in loud prints, while Iliana has black hair in a tight bun and dresses very conservatively in pale suits. Kaylynn and Parker also. While Kaylynn loves to clean and later becomes a maid, Parker is the slob responsible for most messes Kaylynn cleans up.
* TwoFirstNames: Zelda Mae. "Mae" is actually her surname, and presumably Iliana's maiden name as well. Even the creators sometimes forget and refer to her as "Zelda Mae Langerak" by mistake.

!!The Alto Family
A less than decent set of rich parents and a kind-hearted daughter.
* AbusiveParents: Due to their personalities, Nick and Vita are prone to insulting their daughter.
* TheBigGuy: Not only is Nick fat, he is also extremely muscular, making him one of the largest Sims in the game.
* CardCarryingVillain: Vita has Evil as one of her traits.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: Nick certainly isn't the most honorable businessman in town.
* CorruptPolitician: Vita is one.
* {{Expy}}: Of ''Series/TheSopranos''. Especially name-wise.
* FatBastard: Nick is fat, and he is certainly not nice.
* ItRunsInTheFamily: Averted; Holly looks nothing like her parents, has completely different goals and a very different personality.
* NouveauRiche: In contrast to the fairly well-adjusted "old money" Goth and Landgraab dynasties, they are definitely this. They check basically every bad rich people stereotype, including gaudy and unnecessary decorations.
%%* SiblingRivalry: Nick's brother Bert appears in Hidden Springs, and his bio hints that maybe this is the reason he's laying low.
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: The Altos have a surprisingly good reputation considering their motives and personalities.
* WackyParentSeriousChild: While Nick and Vita has spent huge amounts of money on flashy and pointless stuff, Holly dresses, acts and even has her room decorated as any suburban teenage girl.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Nick is aquaphobic, and will loudly complain if made to have a bath.

!!The Landgraab Family
A wealthy family consisting of the friendly doctor Geoffrey, his socialite wife Nancy and their little son Malcolm.
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: In contrast to basically every game before (and since), the Landgraabs here are generally friendly and down-to-earth, in contrast to the Altos.
* ContinuitySnarl: The Landgraab family really has no set continuity. Neither the names, town or ages match up with the Sims 2 Landgraab family. They certainly don't line up with the console installments, where Malcolm is an evil adult with two grown children, instead of a sweet, fairly normal kid.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: [[AvertedTrope Averted]] with Malcolm in this installment. Since he first appears here as an unassuming child, it would initially appear that he would undergo a (possibly [[VideoGameCrueltyPotential player-induced]]) StartOfDarkness that would make him the CorruptCorporateExecutive seen in ''VideoGame/TheSimsBustinOut''. However, Malcolm here has the "Good" trait, making it impossible for him to truly follow the path of evil. This is reinforced in the console-exclusive Moonlight Bay neighborhood, where he's fully grown, and has left the family business to become a local representative for the neighborhood. His ''Sims 4'' [[AlternateUniverse incarnation]] brings his personality closer to that of ''Bustin' Out'', making him out to be a CardCarryingVillain that aspires to be the "Public Enemy".
* MissingMom: Since Nancy's mother died as a young adult, it can be assumed that she died early in Nancy's life.
* TookTheWifesName: Geoffrey took Nancy Landgraab's name when they married because the Landgraabs are [[BlueBlood old-money aristocrats]] who helped build the town.
* TurnOutLikeHisFather: It is often suggested that Malcolm aspires to follow his father into the medical business.
* UncannyFamilyResemblance: Nancy and her mother have similar clothes and hairstyles, suggesting that Nancy may dress the way she does to honor her mother.
* WackyParentSeriousChild: Geoffrey is a bit of a joker, while Malcolm is a bit more serious and introverted.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: Geoffrey looks quite young except for his old-timey suit.

!!The Alvi Family
A poorer family consisting of single dad Iqbal and his two sons, VJ and Miraj.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: They seem to be non-specifically Arab in heritage.
* BigOlUnibrow: Iqbal has one,
* {{Jerkass}}: VJ, especially where his old man is concerned.
* MissingMom: Exactly what happened to Mrs. Alvi, if Iqbal was ever married, isn't said, but she's not around anymore.

!!The Andrews Family
A middle class married couple. Sensitive reporter Victoria does all the work while her husband Beau stays at home.
* {{Expy}}: Of the Newbie family.
* ICouldaBeenAContender: Beau Andrews wanted to be an athlete, but when the game start is just lazing about the house.
* IntrepidReporter: Victoria works in the journalistic career and reaching it's top is her lifetime wish.
* {{Jerkass}}: Beau's Lifetime Desire? Gold Digger. He may love his wife, but he'd have no problems if she died either.

!!The Bunch Family
The largest family in Sunset Valley, consisting of Jack and Judy, and their children Ethan, Lisa, Arlo and Darlene
* TheAce: Ethan is a top student in school, and is very popular among the local teenagers.
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: Arlo seems to have a major case of this, since his bio refers to him as a superduperextremehyperactive ball of energy.
* BornUnlucky: Darlene has the 'Unlucky' trait
* DyeHard: In-universe. Strongly suggested with Judy, who has blonde roots in her hair, matching the purely blonde hair of her children.
%%zce* GirlishPigtails: Darlene's hairstyle when the game is first loaded.
* FormerlyFit: According to Judy's biography she used to be thin until her stressful job, as well as being a mother of four took its toll on her eating and exercise habits.
* MassiveNumberedSiblings: Jack and Judy have four kids, with Judy's lifetime wish being to raise ''five''.
* TheSmartGuy: Ethan is the only one of the Bunch children pre-assigned the Genius trait.

!!The Clavell Family
Consists of the retired couple Buster and Bessie, and their mooching criminal son Xander.
* BasementDweller: While Xander is far from being the only adult Sim in the game that lives with his parents, it's clear that he's meant to be seen as this.
* CannotTellAJoke: Bessie has the No Sense of Humor trait.
* TheCasanova: Xander's initial Lifetime Wish is to be the boyfriend of ten different Sims.
* ElegantClassicalMusician: Bessie used to be one, before she retired.
* TakingAdvantageOfGenerosity: Bessie's bio says this has happened to her in the past. This probably has something to do with Xander's mooching tendencies.

!!The Frios
Brothers Jared and Conner Frio, who have very different problems. Jared is a jerk to everyone, and Conner refuses to socialize with anyone.
* TheAloner: Conner is Good, but he's also a Loner, believing that people will try and change him.
* TheCasanova: Jared has already had a relationship with Claire Ursine that went badly. If left to his own devices, he tends to wind up repeating this with someone else.
* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: Jared. Strangely, his bio says he doesn't have the drive or ambition to become a great chef, despite that being his Lifetime Wish.
* {{Jerkass}}: Jared is mean-spirited and inappropriate. Never a good combination.
* LonersAreFreaks: Averted, Connor seems much more friendly and well-adjusted than his outgoing brother.
* ParentalAbandonment: It's not even certain that he's aware of his soon to be born child.
* PetTheDog: Despite his mean-spirited personality, Jared doesn't try to change Connor, and seems to accept him for who he is.
* SiblingYinYang: Jared's outgoing, but completely awful to everybody around him, Connor's a shut-in, but also a genuinely nice guy.
* SupremeChef: Jared wants to become one. If it comes true or not, it's up to the player.

!!The Hart Family
Town nutjobs Gus and Dorie Hart, and their long-suffering teenaged daughter Bebe
* NotSoAboveItAll: According to Bebe's bio, both she and the town are worried she's going to turn out like this.
* WackyParentSeriousChild: Poor Bebe is stuck with both her parents being both childish and insane.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Bebe is a technophobe, and will freak out near a television.
* WomenAreWiser: Utterly averted with Dorie, who's considered to be far stranger than her husband. Player straight with Bebe, at least.

!!Gobias Koffi
A self-absorbed middle-aged spinster.
* AmbiguouslyGay: Gobias is ''heavily'' implied to be gay. The same goes for his late father, the [[PunnyName Punnily Named]] Gaylord.
* {{Expy}}: For Tobias from ''Series/ArrestedDevelopment''. He even looks a hell of a lot like the actor David Cross.
* {{Narcissist}}: His house is full of unnecessary mirrors. You do the guessing.

!!Claire Ursine
A quiet, unassuming angler that resides on the beach.
* AnimalMotifs: She's a hefty angler whose favorite meal is salmon, just like a grizzly bear before hibernation. [[spoiler:She also gives birth to a baby girl, testing whether or not she can raise her like a mother bear.]]
* FamilyVersusCareer: Claire's obligation to [[spoiler:raise her child to a successful adulthood]] interferes with her Lifetime Wish of becoming a master thief, especially with default aging settings enabled.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Claire's waistline, nauseousness and ex-boyfriend in the relationships tab hint that [[spoiler:she is pregnant]].
* MamaBear: Averted; [[spoiler: even though she's a mother whose [[AnimalMotifs Animal Motif]] is a bear, there are no situations that can arise that will evoke this trope]].
* MythologyGag: Between her name and surname, she references Claire the Bear, an NPC from the first game.
* OutdoorsyGal: She loves the outdoors. As opposed to interacting with neighbors, she would rather be fishing and gardening.
* WalkingSpoiler: [[spoiler:The baby she's pregnant with.]]

!!Jamie Jolina
Jamie Jolina is as intelligent as she is beautiful. Can she prove to the world that the two traits can coexist?
* HospitalHottie: Jamie works in the medical career and she's fairly easy on the eyes.

!!The Keaton Family
Avid outdoorsy Sims, Marty and Justine Keaton both have active careers and active hobbies. What effect will the impending arrival of their first child have on their lifestyle?

!!Erin Kennedy
Erin Kennedy is a long-term military woman who was recently transferred to town. Making friends has always been difficult for her, and she worried that things might be the same in this town. Will her fears come true?

* TheSquadette: Being as she is a long-term military person.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Erin is a technophobe, and she doesn't even has a television or a radio in her home.

!!Roomies Household
Can five young adults from five different backgrounds really stand living together in a single house? Just about every personality is represented in this wacky household...but who is the exceedingly plain guy who doesn’t socialize with others? And how did he manage to get his own room?

* TheAloner: Stiles [=McGraw=] and Blair Wainwright both have the Loner trait.
* BigFun: Emma Hatch is good natured and friendly.
* OnlineAlias[=/=]OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: [=Cycl0n3 Sw0rd=] (his real name is never given) only ever goes by his online computer alias.
* RidiculouslyAverageGuy: Stiles is described as being a mystery to his roommates because he's so average.

!!Sekemoto Family
Yumi Sekemoto has recently moved in with her son, Leighton, to help him raise his toddler, Sam.

* MissingMom: The exact whereabouts of Sam's mother are unknown.
* MultigenerationalHousehold: A family with three generations living under the same roof.

!!Single Moms Household
Fiona [=McIrish=] is used to living alone with her teenage daughter, River. But when Fiona’s best friend needed a place to live with her own young daughter, Fiona readily invited the two to live in her home. Will Molly be the perfect housemate or Fiona’s biggest regret?

* DisappearedDad: Neither River or Sandi's dad are in the game files, with no mentions of their whereabouts.
* IntrepidReporter: Fiona starts off in the journalism career.
* LifeOfTheParty: Implied with Molly, both by her having the Party Animal trait, and by Molly's bio stating that sometimes she gets the feeling that Fiona and River think she parties to much. If she lives up to that reputation, is up to the player.
* ReallyGetsAround: If this was not the case with Molly at some point, at least she wants that for her future, as her lifetime wish is to be the girlfriend of 10 different Sims.

!!Christopher Steel
Christopher Steel is lucky by nature. Things have always come easily for him, which is starting to get boring. Now that he’s in a brand new town with no friends or job, how will he fare?

* TheGenericGuy: He's just a guy, no drama or conflicts to speak of.
* InformedAttribute: Christopher is said to be lucky by nature, but he lacks the Lucky trait.

!!Wainwright Family
Susan and Boyd are techno geniuses who spend all of their available time with electronics. When their daughter, Blair, was a child, they bought every toy she asked for in the hopes that she would amuse herself and give them more free time for their hobbies. Now that Blair has moved out on her own, the Wainwrights are thinking of converting her old room for their next big project... (Blair lives in the Roomies household)

* AbsurdlyYouthfulMother: Susan and Boyd barely look older than Blair, until they age up to Elder that is.
* InsufferableGenius: Susan is both a genius and a snob. On the plus side, this makes her particularly easy to befriend, since flattering her genius gives a massive friendship boost.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Boyd's white hair aside, they don't really look old enough to have a grown up daughter, and in fact sometimes they barely look older than her.
* TheSmartGuy: They're this to the other Sunset Valley premades in general. Susan expecially.
** Boyd has shades of TheLancer towards Gunther.
* SnobsVersusSlobs: Despite both being science nerds, Susan is much more classy and refined, while Boyd is much wilder and messier.

!!Wan-Goddard Family
Pauline and Hank are certain that they will be 2-gether 4-ever because they have so much in common: parties, the beach, and music. The only question is whether they can maintain their lifestyle.

* CommitmentIssues: Both Pauline and Hank have the trait, meaning their relationship starts off strained.
* FairCop: Hank Goddard. He works in the Law Enforcement career and if some thought balloons introduced in the Late Night expansion are any indication, he's considered attractive in-universe.
* LifeOfTheParty: While their family bio implies both of them are this, only Pauline has the Party Animal trait.

!!Wolff Family
Both the arts and having children are very important to Morgana Wolff, but she has just learned that her new husband, Thornton, actively dislikes both. Oops. Can these newlyweds save their young marriage? Should they even try?

* ChildHater: Thornton.
* InformedAttribute: The family bio states that Thornton dislikes arts, however he lacks the Can't Stand Art trait.
* {{Jerkass}}: Thornton is difficult to socialize with.
* OppositesAttract: Played with. Thornton and Morgana fell in love and got married despite their very different personalities, but their family bio implies that their differences will ultimately doom their relationship. If they do or not, it's ultimately up to the player.

!!Working Friends Household
Four women trying to make their way in the world have come together to share this house. Madison and Monica are best friends forever, Tori is a best-friend wannabe, and Ayesha is the tomboy who couldn’t care less.

* AlliterativeName: '''Mo'''nika '''Mo'''rris and '''A'''yesha '''A'''nsari.
* CannotTellAJoke: Tori. She has the No Sense of Humour trait.
* PunchClockVillain: Ayesha starts off in the Criminal career, but lacks the evil trait, or the desire to reach the top of the career path.
* {{Tomboy}}: Ayesha is described as one in both the family bio and her own bio, and she has a more stereotypical appearance and interests than the rest of her housemates.

!!Agnes Crumplebottom
Agnes Crumplebottom hadn’t even changed her last name to her husband’s when an unfortunate accident on her honeymoon ended their marriage. Between her growing bitterness and her husband’s ghost scaring away gentlemen callers, only the bravest Sim would ever even try to win her heart and fortune now.

* DeliberatelyMonochrome: Visually both her appearance - black dress with platium blonde hair - and her house - a modern mansion where almost everything is styled in black and white - are clearly meant to reflect her unfortunate situation. It's rather telling that the only faintest hints of color in the mansion are in the half-finished child's room. A symbol of a wish that will never be.
* StartOfDarkness: Agnes is, in fact, the same dreaded Miss Crumplebottom from Hot Date in the original games. The trope has been downplayed as she becomes more of a nuisance than anything, but the point still stands.
* TheLostLenore: Agnes' dead husband, Erik, is this this for her.

!![=NPCs=][=/=]Promotional Characters
* DecoyProtagonist[=/=]LadyNotAppearingInThisGame: A dozen or so fully fleshed-out characters - such as Brianna, Liam O'Dourke and Kim Kent - were introduced as the denizens of Sunset Valley in the year or so leading up to the game's release and were quite popular. Fans were surprised, to say the least, when none of those promotional characters actually turned up in the game (though three were made into an official download and one was eventually included in a [=DLC=] town). Despite this, they all appear on the cover art of the base game, along with a few characters who actually ''did'' make it into the game.

[[folder:Riverview]]

!! Returning families:

!! The Newbie Family
LegacyCharacter Bob Newbie and his parents, Robert "Bob" Sr. and Mags.
* AdaptationalAttractiveness: Both Bob, who is most famous for being a bald overweight guy in greasy clothing, and his father Robert are fairly attractive in this game.
* HighSchoolSweethearts: It's revealed that Bob and Betty Simovitch were this, first meeting in high school shortly after Bob's family moved to town.
* RomanticFalseLead: Promotional videos for the Riverview download showed Bob making out with another girl while Betty looked on and cried quietly. Since canonically they end up getting married, the other girl is generally regarded to be this trope for Bob.[[note]]{{Fanon}} often regards her as [=MaryKay=] Shallow, who looks a little like the other girl.[[/note]]
* Bookworm: Bob is implied to be one.
* JockDadNerdSon: While Robert isn't a jock and Bob isn't overly nerdy, it is stated that Robert wishes for Bob to join him in fishing instead of spending all his time inside, reading.

!!The Simovitch Family
LegacyCharacter Betty Simovitch (the future Mrs Newbie) and her parents, Vadim and Fatima.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: Vadim's skin color is just short of the black skintone.
* HighSchoolSweethearts: Betty and Bob Newbie, her canonical future husband, are revealed to have met in high school shortly after Bob's family moved to town.
* StageMom: Fatima is one to Betty, encouraging her to practice her guitar all the time and seek out opportunities for fame instead of pursuing her romance with Bob.

!!The Broke Family
One of the biggest households in the game, the Broke family consists of Flat and Flo; their young adult daughter, Ruby; their much younger son, Skip, still in elementary school; Flat's widowed brother, Buck; and Buck's two children, Trigger and Susie.
* AbsurdlyElderlyMother: Skip's just a child while his parents are elderly.
* AbsurdlyYouthfulFather: Skip's uncle Buck is a young adult (closer in age to his niece) with a teenage son and a young daughter, something that in normal gameplay could only be achieved if Buck had access to any of the age-reversing methods available in the game.
* BornUnlucky: Both Flo and her niece Susie have the Unlucky trait.
* ContinuitySnarl: One of the worst offenders in the game. Skip Broke, who canonically becomes the husband of Brandi Newbie, is here only a few years younger than her parents, who are teenagers in the same town and nowhere near starting a family together; furthermore, ''The Sims 2'' gave no indication that Skip and Brandi were involved in a MayDecemberRomance, and they were implied to be the same age. However, it's worth noting that the Riverview creator blog hints that this was done deliberately, although why that's the case is never explained. There's also the minor problem of the fact that Skip's parents (who are already elders) don't look anything like they did when they died before The Sims 2, and Ruby, Buck, Trigger and Susie aren't mentioned anywhere.
* FatSlob: A fair few Brokes are overweight, and the family as a whole seems to be a messy bunch.
* HappilyMarried: Flat and Flo are a surprisingly happy couple given their financial circumstances.
* HopelessWithTech: Flo. She has the Technophobe trait and her bio states that she has yet to figure out how to use a computer.
* LegacyCharacter: Skip Broke was Brandi's deceased husband in ''The Sims 2'', and grew very popular due to the mystery surrounding his death. Flat and Flo both appeared in their son and grandsons' family trees. The other four members of the family are new in ''3'', however.
* LowerClassLout: In the Sims 3 continuity they are portrayed as this, being a poor family where most of the members are Slobs and Party Animals.
* MeaningfulName: The family have seven mouths to feed and next to no money when you first play them. However, since all four adults at least have part-time jobs (and it's possible for Trigger, who's a teen, to get another), it's not actually hard to have them get by in-game.
* MissingMom: Mary Lu's death is why Buck and his kids moved in with the family.
* PracticallyDifferentGenerations:
** Flat and Buck are brothers and yet Flat is an elder and Buck is a young adult when the game is first loaded. It's worth noting that Buck is closer in age to his niece Ruby than to his own brother.
** The same applies to Ruby and Skip, as the former is a young adult, and the latter is a child.
* PunnyName: Flat Broke speaks for itself; Flo Broke is probably a pun on "cash flow"; Buck refers to the slang term for a dollar.
** The creator blog implies that "Skip" may also carry a double meaning - fan theories include this being a reference to the time-travel story-line set up in Riverview and Skip's possible involvement in it, or to a game-play tactic that will allow Brandi to "skip" quickly through several birthdays to reach the same age as her future husband.

!!Don Lothario
Yes, ''that'' Don Lothario. His appearance in Riverview is unusual to say the least, considering that he's the same age as he was in ''The Sims 2'' and so, canonically, shouldn't even have been born yet.
* TheCasanova: Gets sent back in time and picks straight up where he left off. His lifetime wish is "The Heartbreaker".
* OurTimeTravelIsDifferent: Don remembers going back in time as nothing more than "a flash of bright light, a lot of women laughing", and then waking up somewhere else entirely. Since Don himself has no idea how he was sent back, this is all the elaboration we get.
* RunawayGroom: Don's cold feet about his upcoming wedding are believed to have been the reason he was sent back in time. It's (probably deliberately) left ambiguous as to whether this happens immediately after the start of ''2'' (when he's known to leave Cassandra at the altar if the player doesn't intervene), or whether some time has passed and it's a different fiancee he's abandoned this time.
* TimeTravel: Riverview!Don is the originator of the time-travel story-line that came up now and again over the course of ''The Sims 3''. The ''Ambitions'' and ''Into the Future'' EP's dealt with it further.
* TrappedInThePast: Riverview is set 50 years before Pleasantview. Since Don was sent back in time against his will, he has no way of getting back to his own time.
* WomanScorned: It's ''heavily'' implied that at least two of Don's exes were involved in his involuntary trip back in time. Since the women whose affections he toyed with in ''2'' included [[HalfHumanHybrid quarter-alien hybrid]] twins, a (probable) witch, and a wealthy scientist, it's not hard to see how they might have scraped together the resources to pull off this sort of plot.

!!Families introduced in The Sims 3:

!! The Bagley Family:
A family that got their wealth by shady means, made of Ma Bagley and her two children, Rhoda and Sherman.

* BornLucky: Sherman has the Lucky trait.
* BornUnlucky: Sam Bagley, Ma's deceased husband.
* CursedWithAwesome: Averted. Sam has the Unlucky trait, and yet he died due to drowning, which should not be possible in normal gameplay.
* {{Jerkass}}: Ma is a retired master thief and Rhoda is a bagwoman, but they are more this than exactly evil. Both women are Hot-Headed and Ma is also a Snob, which could make them hard to deal with.
* PracticallyDifferentGenerations: Rhoda is much older than her brother Sherman. When the game is first loaded, Rhoda is at the beginning of the Adult life stage, while Sherman will be at the beginning of the Young Adult life stage.
* WhiteSheep: Sherman doesn't want to live a life of crime like his mother and sister. In fact, his lifetime wish is to reach the top of the law enforcement career.

!! The Carpenter-Rhodes Family:

Elderly couple Hope Carpenter and Buzz Rhodes, and their daughter Meadow Carpenter-Rhodes, that lives by herself closer to the center of the city.

* BirdsOfAFeather: Downplayed. Despite their [[DeadSparks poor relationship when the game is first loaded]], one can see what Buzz and Hope saw in each other, as both are Absent-Minded and have a GreenThumb.
* CommonLawMarriage: Buzz and Hope have lived together as a couple for most of their lives and raised a daughter that is currently an adult, but they never got legally married.
* DeadSparks: Buzz and Hope have a poor relationship when the game is first loaded, although they have been together for enough time to have an adult daughter.
* FloralThemeNaming: Meadow loves plants plus she was named after a habitat heavily populated by grasses and herbs.
* FlowersOfNature: Meadow uses a flower in her hair and uses a dress with a flower pattern, aluding to her love for gardening.
* GreenThumb: A trait shared by all three members of the family.
* ScatterBrainedSenior: Both Hope and Buzz have the Absent-Minded trait.

!! The Crosby Family

Odin and Heather, a young couple that is together despite some crucial differences between their personalities.

* AerithAndBob: Heather, that has a fairly normal name, is married to Odin, a man named after a nordic god.
* ChildHater: Odin has the Dislikes Children trait, which is not a good trait to have when he's married to someone who's lifetime wish is raising ''five'' children.
* Foil: They are basically a poorer version of the Wolff family from Sunset Valley. A man that hates children and a family oriented woman that somehow ended up married to each other.
* OppositesAttract: Downplayed but at the same time subverted. Odin and Heather actually have one trait in common (they're both Ambitious), but while Heather is Family-Oriented, Odin is a ChildHater. They still built a relationship and got married, but it's implied that their differences will eventually break them apart. If they do or don't, it's ultimately up to the player, although they can still grow old together perfectly fine if they're just left on their own with story progress on.

!! The Grandpas Household
Recent widower Bennie Dean, that couldn't adapt to living by himself after his wife died and his son moved out, so he asked his two friends Henry [=McGlum=] and Melvin Taft to move in with him and share expenses.

* NiceMeanAndInBetween: Downplayed, but it's there. Bennie is Friendly and could be seen as the Nice one, while Melvin, being Inappropriate and Grumpy, fills the role of the Mean one. Henry, being a Loner and not having an outright friendly or rude personality, is the In-Between.
* NonIndicativeName: "Grandpas Household" is just a figurative name, as none of them is actually a grandfather. Henry and Melvin don't even have children of their own.

!!Jones Family
A young couple that inherited a house in Riverview, that turned out to be haunted by the ghosts of their relatives.
* CuteGhostGirl: Kirsten Remington, Hannah's deceased cousin.
* DisappearedDad: Hannah has no father on her genealogical tree, which means that his identity and whereabouts are up to anyone's imagination. There's also a chance that Hannah is not Lydia Remington's biological daughter and that she adopted her as a single mother, but once again, that's up to the imagination of players.
* DeathOfAChild: Teenaged Cody and elementary-school-aged Kirsten are dead as well.
* MissingMom: Hannah's mother Lydia is dead and haunts the lot, she also died as an adult, meaning that she either had Hannah very early, or died when she was a teen.

!!Lin Family

Two sisters that have nothing in common except for the fact that they live in their parents' old house, that they divided between the two when they couldn't agree on the décor, completely defying traditional interior design.

* AmbiguouslyAbsentParent: The family bio states that both sisters are living in their parents' old house, but there isn't any other mention of them in the game, and they don't even appear in Roxie and Shirley's genealogical tree.
* FifteenMinutesOfFame: Roxie's bio states that she wants hers in the world of rock n' roll, although it would be better if she got more.
* FlowersOfFemininity: Shirley is more traditionally feminine than her sister Roxie, and she uses a flower in her hair.
* TheGloriousWarOfSisterlyRivalry: Parodied. Roxie and Shirley clash in almost everything (Roxie has a Good Sense of Humor, is Brave, Flirty and has Commitment Issues while Shirley has No Sense of Humor, is a Coward, Unflirty and a Hopeless Romantic), and they got to the point where they divided the house where they live in two and now each has their own part of the house decorated as they see fit.
* HospitalHottie: Shirley works in the Medical career and she's fairly easy on the eyes.
* {{Tsundere}}: Shirley has the potential to be this, given that she's both Unflirty and a Hopeless Romantic.

!! The Lobos Family

An adult couple, Angel and Marisol, and their twin daughters, Anita and Carlotta, that came to Riverview for a fresh start.

* AlwaysIdenticalTwins: Played with but ultimately averted. Carlotta and Anita wear similar clothes and have the same hairstyle and may look identical at first, but actually they have slightly different faces.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Angel's is implied in his bio, although what exactly happened isn't elaborated upon. It's implied it has something to do with Angel being a Kleptomaniac.
* OddNameOut: Carlotta has an Italian name while her parents and twin sister have Spanish names.
* PolarOppositeTwins: Carlotta is the althetic and outgoing twin, while Anita is the artistic and introverted one.

!! The Shallow Family

A wealthy family where every member has the Evil trait. It's made of couple Tom and June, their children Dallas and [=MaryKay=], and Tom's father Kurt.

* AffablyEvil: Seems to be the case with June (that is Evil, but also a Schmoozer) and her son Dallas (that is Evil, but also Flirty).
* ArrangedMarriage: Tom's bio states that his marriage to June has been arranged by his late mother, Sasha.
* ChildHater: Both Kurt and his granddaughter [=MaryKay=] share this trait.
* ControlFreak: Kurt's bio states that part of the reason why he never kicked his son out of his house is because he enjoys having people to control.
* ExtremeDoormat: Tom seems to be this, being in a marriage that was arranged by his mother and in a job that his father forced on him.
* GoldDigger:
** June Shallow has Gold Digger as her lifetime wish, which will be completed if Tom dies and June sees his ghost.
** Kurt also has this lifetime wish, but despite his wife having already died, his lifetime wish is still not complete.
** Kurt's deceased wife Sasha also had this wish herself, but she died before her husband.
* {{Jerkass}}: The fact that all members of the Shallow family share the Evil trait makes this a given, but the most notable cases seem to be Kurt (that is Evil, Hot-Headed, and Dislikes Children), Sasha (Evil and Mean Spirited), and [=MaryKay=] (Evil, Hot-Headed, and Dislikes Children).
* MultigenerationalHousehold: Three generations of the family live under the same roof.
* VillainousLineage: Every member of the Shallow family shares the Evil trait, with no exceptions.

!! The Spenster Family

Two elderly sisters, Nellie and Lucille, that do not suffer the company of fools and were raised to take care of themselves.

* AlwaysIdenticalTwins: Averted. Because the two sisters have the same age, it's presumed that they are twins, but while they have similarities, they aren't identical.
* {{Bookworm}}: Lucille has this trait and her bio states that she believes that a good book is the best company.
* {{Jerkass}}: Lucille has shades of this. She's Hot-Headed and a Snob, and her bio says that she hasn't yet met anyone other than her sister Nellie that can put up with her temper.
* PunnyName: Spenster is just one letter away from "spinster", which fits a family made of two elderly, unmarried sisters.
* SupremeChef: Nellie. She has the Natural Cook trait and she has 7 cooking points when the game is first loaded. To boot, her lifetime wish is The Culinary Librarian.

!!Hunter Cottoneye
A crazed, mean spirited conspiracy theorist who has took up residence in a bunker.
* ConspiracyTheorist: It has gone so far that he has moved to a remote bunker and has no friends or accquaintances.
* CoolCar: He drives a green-camoed pick-up.
* CoolShades: He may be insane and violent, but he wears cool sunglasses.
* CrazySurvivalist: According to his traits, he's an insane and misanthropist jerk. He has no family or acquaintances in the neighborhood. He's fully dressed in camo. And, as previously stated, he lives alone in a ''freaking bunker''.
* PermaStubble: Wears one, fitting his "rugged and badass survivalist" persona. His facial hair are a bit longer on mustache and chin areas.

!!Constance Shelley
A quiet journalist living on her own in a fancy house.
* ArtificialStupidity: As a result of the game's AI pathfinding (less doors to cross equals shorter way) combined with her house's layout, if she's in her kitchen, her Ai's routine to go to work consists in leaving the house through a backdoor, then going all the way back to the entrance while walking along the garden's fence (outside of the garden), which only requires to use a single door; of course, the reverse happens if she's ordered to do something in the kitchen while she's outside. There's a much more logical path in an almost straight line, but it requires to go through three doors instead a single one (kitchen to living room, then entrance door, then a gate in the fence).
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: Her biography states she's not interested in having a social life or finding love, but she doesn't have any trait (Loner/Shy, Unflirty) reflecting it.
* HotLibrarian: A bookworm dressed in a long skirt, a long-sleeved shirt, and sporting big glasses and a bun. Though she's not a librarian[[note]]this career doesn't exist in the game[[/note]] but she starts as a journalist, while aspiring to be a writer.
* TheKlutz: Has the Clumsy and Absent-Minded traits.
* PinkMeansFeminine: In her stats, pink is her favorite colour. Her everyday clothes consists in a striped pink-and-white long-sleeved shirt with a pink long skirt.
* ShoutOut: Her name refers to Creator/PercyByssheShelley and his poem "To Constantia, Singing". Both are writers.

[[folder:Twinbrook]]

!!Returning Families:

!! The Curious Family
* AbsurdlyYouthfulMother: If Twinbrook takes place 50 years before The Sims 2 like Sunset Valley, that is. Not only is he in that game dead, probably from old age, but his son is too, and his oldest grandchild is mere days from becoming an elder herself.
* DeadSparks: Marshall and Cherish have a fairly low starting relationship.
* DeathFromAbove: Steward Curious, from a '''''meteor'''''. The ''only'' pre-made Sim to do so.
* RaceLift: Notzo is black in this game, when he was medium skinned in The Sims 2.
* PunnyName: Notzo Curious
* MadScientist: Marshall's not really ''mad'' in the traditional sense, but since he's got both the Neurotic and Grumpy traits, his mood is constantly shifting.
* LegacyCharacter: Notzo Curious was the grandfather of the Curious Brothers and Jenny Smith in ''The Sims 2''. The characters' popularity led to him being included in the sequel.
* YouDontLookLikeYou: Aged-up Notzo Curious looks ''nothing'' like he did in The Sims 2. Granted, you couldn't actually ''play'' as him there, but huge details like facial structure, skin color and eye color are completely different.

!! The Whelohff Family
* AbsurdlyYouthfulMother: If Twinbrook takes place 50 years before The Sims 2 like Sunset Valley, that is. Not only is Zo in that game dead, probably from old age, but her son is too, and her oldest grandchild is mere days from becoming an elder herself.
* LegacyCharacter: Zo Curious was the grandmother of Jenny Smith and the Curious brothers in ''2''.

!!Families introduced in The Sims 3:

!!The Baker Family:
Single mother Mary Baker with two sons, Lincoln and Newton.

* AmbiguouslyRelated: They share their surname with a premade deceased Sim that is buried in the city's graveyard, Bob-Andy Baker, which has lead some players to theorize he may even be Lincoln and Newton's father. However, nothing in the game indicates this, as Bob-Andy is not even connected to the family in the family tree. They also share their surname with a premade family from the family bin.
* MeaningfulName: A cook named Mary ''Baker''. Her son Newton also has the Natural Cook trait.
* SupremeChef: Mary is a Natural Cook and has 6 cooking points when the game is first loaded. Her son Newton has no cooking skill points but he also is a Natural Cook which means he will have an easier time developing the skill.

!! The Bayless Family
A family of militray-clad survivalists living in the swamplands of Twinbrook.
* DistinguishingMark: Skeet has unusually large ears, that can even be seen through his long hair.
* NoodleIncident: Tay is stated to have found his dislike of education after a spat over apostrphes in kindergarden.
* InTheBlood: All four family members have the 'Angler' and 'Loves the Outdoors' traits.
* TangledFamilyTree: Gwayne's biography describes her family lineage as "murky" and that anyone who ever tried to track it down only went in circles.

!! Sofia Carlton

A young woman that doesn't seem interested in much more than her trust fund, her own looks and popularity.

* AmbiguouslyRelated: In the Racket family's lot there's the urn of a Sim named Pixie Carlton. While some players theorize Sofia may be related to Pixie, ultimately there's no proof of that, given that Pixie doesn't appear on Sofia's family tree.
* BornLucky: Sofia has the Lucky trait.
* ChildHater: Sofia has the Dislikes Children trait.
* MeaningfulName: Sofia is also the name of the capital of Bulgaria, which solidifies her as a Paris Hilton expy (see NoCelebritiesWereHarmed below).
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: She seems to have been loosely inspired in real-life socialite Paris Hilton. Sofia seems to represent the stereotype of the rich but talentless heiress that is famous but no one can't really explain why - her bio even states that no one knows why she is rich and famous to begin with - a stereotype that is unfortunately associated a lot with Hilton. Like the real-life socialite, Sofia shares her name with an European capital (Bulgaria's), and has a surname ending in "-ton".

!! The Racket Family
* BigScrewedUpFamily: As expected with a family much like the Mafia.
* CreepyUncle: Bill. He has the Inappropriate trait, likes Kids music, and is in love with a much younger woman. His nephew also hates him, leading to some disturbing implications between the two.
* CasanovaWannabe: Shark's traits have him come off as this.
* EvilMatriarch: Marigold.
* GoldDigger: Silver's personal bio implies she only married Dennis for his money.
** Also, Bill is dating a wealthy younger woman, and he has the Gold Digger lifetime wish.
* SiblingRivalry: Shark and Lolly are enemies. It looks to be the same for their father and uncles, as well.
* StickyFingers: Max and Dennis both have the 'Kleptomaniac' trait.
* KavorkaMan: Despite being inappropriate and a bit creepy, Bill has managed to land an attractive and wealthy girlfriend.
* MafiaPrincess: Lolly is implied to be this.
* TheMafia: The family seems to be based on one.
* PunnyName: Dennis Racket sounds a lot like "tennis racket".
** There is a deceased Sim named S. Windle Racket.
* WellDoneSonGuy: Both the family bio and Shark's personal bio imply both teenagers are this.
* WhiteSheep: Dudley. And the family's bio states Lolly may become one, too. This is up to the player, however.

!! The Roommates Household
* AmbiguouslyGay: Despite the description of them as roommates ''literally'' appearing in their household name, Blaise and Alma share a bedroom with twin beds pushed side-by-side to look like a double at first. There's also the fact that their info panel speculates that living together will cause them to learn something "unexpected" about themselves. Considering they were introduced before ''The Sims'' got braver about adding explicitly LGBTQ+ characters, it's entirely possible this was meant to deliberately nudge the player towards hooking them up.
* {{Expy}}: Blaise and Alma respectively share a faint physical resemblance to Chris and Melissa Roomies from the original ''The Sims''. Their ambiguous romantic connection could also be seen as a reference, since limitations in ''The Sims'' engine would occasionally treat Chris and Melissa as a married couple even if you kept them platonic. Their personalities, career ambitions, and fashion choices are all quite different, however.
* GenderBlenderName: "Blaise" is historically a masculine name, though modern usage does tend to treat it as more unisex.
* ThePigPen: Due to both women having the Slob trait, their house (and indeed they themselves) can very quickly become ''disgusting'' if the player doesn't intervene and take steps to keep on top of it.
* {{Tomboy}}: Blaise is a classic example: she's heavily tattooed, [[TankTopTomboy dresses in a white wife-beater]] and ripped jean shorts, is a slob who loves to be active and court danger, has a GenderBlenderName and dreams of becoming a firefighter. Alma is slightly more feminine on the surface — dressing more neutrally, favouring books over sports, and pursuing a career as a teacher — but she's ''just'' as extremely messy as Blaise, and very lazy to boot, making her perhaps more like TheLadette.
** Crosses over into ButchLesbian territory if you choose to follow the not-so-subtle hints to hook them up with each other.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Bridgeport]]

!!Angelista Family
Would-be celebrity Lala Angelista, and her film star daughter Tiara. The two masquerade as sisters while enjoying the celebrity high-life.

* HatesTheirParent: Inverted with Lala and Tiara, that are best friends, but if Lala's own mother Tatiana is resurrected, she and Lala will start as enemies.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Lala, despite being an adult, passes as a young adult with Tiara.
* TheUnreveal: The Angelista household bio states that Lala's real name isn't really Lala, but what her real name might be is left up to the imagination of players.

Participants in the popular TV show "Little Celebrity", now in its seventeenth season, consisting of Apollo Bloom, Katelyn Missoni, Matty Crew, small-time politician Kirby Wise, amateur musician Suzy Strummer, and vampire cop William Fangman.

* TokenHeroicOrc: William Fangman is one of the few vampires in Bridgeport to neither be a criminal or evil, instead working as a cop.

!!Matthew Hamming
The most successful actor in Bridgeport, Matthew's looking for that certain someone, to no avail.

!!Jones Family
Happily married Johnny and Diana have no complaints with their life.

!!King Family
TV comedian Johanna King, and her perfectly behaved daughter Lisa.

!!Littler Family
One of the larger families in Bridgeport, if not the most popular. Workaholic mom Renee spoils her child, while Reuben grows jealous of his wife's success, as he cheats on her with their housekeeper, Odine Perry.

* ChildHater: Reuben has the Dislikes Children trait, which makes one wonder why he had three children with two different women (although, in all fairness, he never met the oldest one, Tiara).
* GreenEyedMonster: According to the family bio and Reuben's own bio, he hates that his wife is more successful than he is.
* {{Jerkass}}: Reuben, aside from being a grouchy jerk who can't go on with anyone, abandoned Lala Angelista years ago, and is now cheating on his wife.

!!Polly Maloney
One of the last of the formerly successful Maloney family, Polly has fallen on hard times, residing in the dingy basement of a building, which is putting a dent in her desires to make friends.

!!Mixture of Good and Bad Household

!!Old and New Glam Household
Famed movie director Alan Stanley, and his temperamental bombshell of a girlfriend, Emmy Star.

* PunnyName: Emmy, who is in the movie industry.
* SitcomArchnemesis: Emmy starts the game off disliking Tiara Angelista.

!!Pala Household
Enterprising businesswoman and low level celebrity Katarina Pala, and her niece, Hannah Smythe. Katarine is trying to get her niece to get into business, rather than breaking into show business.
* AbsurdlyYouthfulMother: Hannah's NPC mother Samantha is 15 days away from becoming an adult, while Hannah is a teenager, which isn't possible without the use of cheats or other age-reversing features.
* ParentalAbandonment: Hannah was left by her mother to the care of her aunt Katarina. Why this is the case, is up to the player's imagination.

!!Romeo Rake
Romeo Rake may look like your ordinary, average, good looking person, but in secret he's also a secret agent.

!!Buster Round

!!Vladimir Schlick

!!Lenny Shutter

!!Mick Situp

!!Elvira Slayer
One of the older generations of vampire in Bridgeport, Elvira's position might well be underminded by the newcomers on the scene.

* AffablyEvil: Elvira's traits include evil and charismatic.
* CardCarryingVillain: Her starting wish is to wind up as the Empress of Evil.
* DarkIsEvil: She wears an all black outfit and has the Evil trait.
* HospitalHottie: She starts off in the Medicine career.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Elvira ''Slayer''... [[SarcasmMode must be a pleasant person to have around]].
* ObviouslyEvil: Red hair and eyes, an all black outfit, and the surname Slayer... of course she has the Evil trait.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: She has glowing red eyes and is Evil.
* VampireDoctor: Elvira is a vampire, and she starts off as a gene therapist in the medical career at level 7.

!!Striker Family

!!Talon and Striker Household
Feared vampire Jessica Talon, and her better half, Rafael Striker, distant brother of Richie Striker.

* BoyMeetsGhoul: Rafael is a human guy, wheras Jessica is a female vampire.
* InterspeciesRomance: The household consists of a vampire and a human in a romantic relationship.
* TheSquadette: Jessica is employed in the military careeer when the game starts, and her lifetime wish is to reach the top level of the military career.

!!Tenderlove Household
Roomies Barrie Tenderlove, Jun Wu and Ace Wild, all of whom want to rule the Bridgeport night scene.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Barnacle Bay]]

!! The Caliente Household
* ContinuityNod: Dina's biography references Pleasantview, which also confirms that Barnacle Bay is set after The Sims 2
* ContinuitySnarl: It appears that EA switched around the sisters' personalities, making Nina the gold digger and Dina the romantic one.
* GoldDigger: Nina this time instead of Dina.
%%* MsFanservice

!! The [=GilsCarbo=] Family
* ContinuityNod: The last name, and Celeste's love for plaid and cowboy theme are nods to EnsembleDarkHorse Goopy [=GilsCarbo=] from The Sims 2.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Monte Vista]]

!! The Monty Family
One of the feuding families in ''The Sims 2'''s Veronaville. This time there's two households, one featuring a young Patrizio and Isabella Monty, their children Antonio and Bianca and the other one being comprised of Patrizio's late father Valentine (in ghost form) and his mother Silvia.
----
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: Patrizio in ''The Sims 2'' was a cook, and supposedly a llama rancher, while Patrizio here is a highly paid doctor with the Genius trait.
* AdaptationalAttractiveness: Patrizio and Isabella are much, much more attractive in this iteration, even when they get to the Elder life stage.
* ContinuityNod: Their entire existence is a nod to Veronaville, and their bio makes sure to mention their future feud with the Capps.
* ContinuitySnarl: Oh boy, there are plenty.
** Neither Patrizio nor Isabella work with food, not to mention their personalities being completely different.
** Bianca is the oldest child, with Antonio being a toddler and Romeo & Mercutio's father Claudio being unborn at the start of the game. In ''2'', Bianca is the ''youngest'' child, while Antonio and Claudio seemed to be around the same age, which is old enough for one of them to have two teenage sons.
** The Sims 2 made it very clear that Consort and Patrizio met, became friends and then enemies as young men. Since the Capps don't appear in Monte Vista, the Monty bio instead hints that they've ''haven't even met'' their rivals yet.
** Less glaring, but Patrizio's parents died as Adults in ''2'', like most ancestors in Veronaville. Here they are both elders.

!! The [=GilsCarbo=] Family
* ContinuityNod: Goopy GilsCarbo, arguably the most famous side character in The Sims 2 appears as a toddler here.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Family Bin Families]]

!! The Baker Family

Elder couple Heathcliff and Svetlana Baker, that took her daughter Becky and their grandson Topher in when they needed a place to live.

* AmbiguouslyRelated: There is a pre-made Baker family win Twinbrook, but if they are, or not, related to the Baker family in the family bin, is up to the player's imagination.
* BornLucky: Becky has the Lucky trait.
* DisappearedDad: The identity of Topher's father, or his whereabouts, are unknown.

!! The Funke Family

Couple Sabrina and Rhett with their three children, Spencer, Irene and Carol.

* ABoyAGirlAndABabyFamily: A couple (Sabrina and Rhett) with a son (Spencer), a daughter (Irene) and a baby, in this case, also a girl (Carol).
* BornUnlucky: Irene has the Unlucky trait.
* InformedFlaw: The family bio states that some people might say that Sabrina and Rhett are too flaky to be successful at raising kids, however nothing about their personalities supports this, with Sabrina even having the Family Oriented trait.
* RealMenWearPink: Spencer. His favorite color is hot pink and his formal outfit includes a pink shirt and purple pants.

!! The Glover Household

A household made of housemates Gwen Glover and Holden Wozny.

* OppositesAttract: Downplayed, and ultimately up to the player. The household's bio described them as an odd pair, with Gwen being artsy and outgoing and Holden being a spacey bookworm, and questions if they are just going to be good friends or if they are going to become something more than that, implying that they may form a romantic relationship. However, none of their traits make them incompatible, and actually both of them share the Good Sense of Humor trait.

!! The Lum Family

Couple Theodore and Lily with a teen son, Lawrence.

* BornLucky: Theodore and Lily, as both have the Lucky trait.
* ChildHater: Lawrence has the Dislikes Children trait.
* {{Irony}}: Lily's lifetime wish is Super Popular, which requires her to befriend 20 Sims, however she is Mean-Spirited, which means she likes to make enemies.
* OppositesAttract: Theodore and Lily are a couple despite having two traits that clash with the other's traits. Theodore is Friendly and a Heavy Sleeper while Lily is Mean-Spirited and a Light Sleeper.

!! The Martinez Family

Couple Jennifer and Pablo. They return in The Sims 4, with two children that don't exist as of The Sims 3, Sofia and Leonardo.

* BirdsOfAFeather: Both of them are Flirty and Love the Outdoors.

!! The Williams Family

Couple Aimee and Marley with their toddler daughter Malika.

* BornLucky: Marley has the Lucky trait.

[[/folder]]

! The Sims 4
[[folder:Willow Creek]]

!! The Goth Family
The Goths are an aristocratic family with a dreary aura. Between Mortimer writing macabre stories and Bella's mysterious disappearances will Cassandra and Alexander grow up to be gloomy, too?
----
* ActionGirl: Bella is in the Secret Agent Career.
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: Mortimer's much more of a creative type here, instead of a scientist or a businessman like in previous games.
* AdaptationalUgliness: While not hideous by any stretch, Mortimer's definitely not as good looking as his adult self looked in previous games, not to mention his forehead wrinkles make him look a fair bit older as well.
** Cassandra's definitely more "cute" this time round, with a far rounder, younger-looking face than in ''2''.
* AbsurdlyYouthfulMother: Bella is aged down in the alternate universe from the same age as her husband (who is an Adult, in this case; ''The Sims 3'' establishes they were at school together in the original universe) to being much younger. The result of having Bella start out on the first day of the young adult life stage is that there's no room in her new timeline for any pregnancies, let alone for her to be the mother of a teenager. Notably, while other games have implicitly assumed that Bella is simply OlderThanTheyLook to keep her age in line with Mortimer's, and that she's possibly been using more age reversing rewards than he has, there's no indication that this is the case in ''The Sims 4''. Indeed, the decision to age her down despite the lack of cosmetic differences between Young Adults and Adults in this version seems to indicate it was an active decision to have Mortimer and Bella involved in a MayDecemberRomance in this incarnation, though it's not really explored in the family bio as might be expected.
* AgeLift:
** Bella has been aged down from an Adult who's the same age as her husband to a Young Adult who's obviously his junior. It could be a reference to how, in ''The Sims 2'', Bella stopped aging after she went missing.
** Both Cassandra and Alexander, in relation to their parents and each other from the original timeline. While in ''VideoGame/TheSims2'' Cassandra was in her late teens when Alexander was born, here they're much closer in age, as he's in Grade School while she's in High School. This means that Alexander was born much earlier in this continuity. The same may be true for Cassandra herself, since in ''The Sims'' she was a child rather than a teen, and would have to have been born much earlier if the fan theory that ''The Sims'' and ''The Sims 4'' take place at around the same time in their respective universes is correct.
* TheBusCameBack: Mortimer's aunt, the infamous Agnes Crumplebottom, returns with ''Cottage Living'' living with her cousin on the Crumplebottom side, Agatha, in the distant British country-side town of Henford-on-Bagley even lampshading that she's not from the tiny hamlet and revealing that at least in this timeline, the family has spread out world-wide.
* CompositeCharacter: Since this iteration takes place in an alternate timeline, it appears the developers took full advantage of this, having a young Cassandra, and adult-aged (plus more recognizable) Mortimer and Bella from the original ''Sims'' as well as Alexander from ''The Sims 2''
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: For the first time ever, the Goths don't have a family graveyard, and no mention of either Bella or Mortimer's extended family is made either.
* EmoTeen: Cassandra. Aside from the patently obvious, she's also the only member of the family with the Gloomy trait.
* FairCop: This continuity's version of Bella is employed in the Secret Agent career, which was intended as a substitute for the Law Enforcement career from previous games (at least, until the Detective career was added in the first expansion pack). And she's beautiful, of course.
* LegoGenetics: Cassandra could reasonably pass as being Mortimer and Bella's child, but Alexander (once he grows up) looks very, very little like either his parents or sister.
* LegacyCharacter: Though ''The Sims 4'' is an AlternateUniverse apart from the first three games, the inclusion of the Goth family (as represented by Mortimer, Bella, Cassandra, and Alexander) was such a popular fan demand that EA/Maxis apparently didn't dare release the game without them.
* MayDecemberRomance: Unlike the original incarnations of Mortimer and Bella, who were childhood friends, Bella is significantly younger than Mortimer in this version: she's a Young Adult, he's an Adult, making them about three weeks apart in age (which is a fairly big difference, considering Sims only have about a sixteen week life span; mathematically, the real-world equivalent would be about fifteen years, though Sims life stages don't progress naturally enough to reflect that). Notable in that they're the only couple in this version of the game whose romantic partner is outside of their own life stage.
* MsFanservice: Definitely Bella.
* MythologyGag: The family description mentions Bella’s mysterious disappearances, a nod to her famously being missing in ''The Sims 2'', though this universe’s version seems to be disappearing for her job as a Secret Agent, rather than being abducted by aliens.
* PerkyGoth: Both Bella and Mortimer are cheerful, outgoing people, though Cassandra's fairly dour, and since Alexander's a child it's up to the player wether he becomes this.
* RaceLift: In a very controversial move, both Bella and ''especially'' Cassandra are lighter skinned in the base game. EA acknowledged and corrected this in a May 2022 update, with Bella and Cassandra matching their earlier darker skin tones and ''Alexander'' receiving a RaceLift by becoming darker skinned as well.
* SeriesContinuityError: The trailer for ''High School Years'' depicts Mortimer and Bella as high school sweethearts, with an official gallery household even labelling them as having both graduated in the same year, despite the game itself placing them in a MayDecemberRomance.
* UglyGuyHotWife: Mortimer's not really ''ugly'', but compared to Bella he's not much to look at, not to mention him being a lot older than her this time round.

!! The Pancakes Family
Poor, poor Bob and Eliza – have they ever been happy? It seems there’s nothing one can do to please the other. Just what is keeping this couple together? Or, conversely, what is the spark that will finally drive them apart?
----
* AwfulWeddedLife: The household's summary invokes this trope. Bob and Eliza don't actually have a negative relationship at the start of the game, but it's very easy to make their relationship tank as their conflicting traits become more apparent.
%%* BornUnlucky: Seems to be Bob's lot in life.
* BabiesMakeEverythingBetter: The "Toddler" patch gave Bob and Eliza a son, Iggy, who is said to have brought "a small measure of harmony" to his parents' strained marriage.
* GuysAreSlobs: Bob's the Slob to Eliza's Neat.
* {{Housewife}}: When the player first loads up the family, Eliza is unemployed.
* RidiculouslyAverageGuy: Bob was featured in a trailer as "the most boring Sim ever".
* TheEeyore: It's very easy to interpret Bob as being depressed, as he has both the Gloomy and Slob traits
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitutes: For Bob and Betty Newbie. Their appearances, names, and dynamic all call back to various incarnations of the Newbies over the course of the franchise's original timeline.
* SleepingSingle: Their house has two fully-furnished adult bedrooms. One has traditional-looking, expensive, pink decor to fit Eliza's personality, while the other has a cheaper bed and a workout machine to fit Bob's.
* SlobsVsSnobs: Bob has the Slob trait, while Eliza is both Neat ''and'' Materialistic, therefore playing this trope both possible ways.
%%* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Take a wild guess
* UglyGuyHotWife: While Bob is not strictly unpleasant looking, his extremely laid-back attire and increasing grubbiness if the player lets him have his way about fulfilling the Hygiene need contrast sharply with the always well-groomed Eliza.

!! The Spencer-Kim-Lewis Family
Okay, here's the breakdown: Dennis Kim and Lydia Spencer had a daughter named Alice Spencer-Kim, then divorced. Alice married Eric Lewis and had her own little girl, Olivia Kim-Lewis. They live with Alice's dad (Dennis, remember?) and Eric's mom, Vivian Lewis. Hey, no one ever said family was easy!
----
* AbsurdlyYouthfulMother: Alice and Eric are only at the beginning of the Young Adult life stage, meaning that they shouldn't technically be able to have a daughter who's already a Child (or, indeed, be parents at all yet) unless they've had access to youth potion.
* TheGhost: Lydia Spencer, Alice's mother, is mentioned in the family bio but doesn't actually appear anywhere in the game. It's implied she's not dead, but moved away after divorcing Dennis.
* SecondLove: Dennis being divorced can be selected as a romantic option, so your playable character would be a second love for him. Depending on the age of your Sim, this can be a DecemberDecemberRomance or a MayDecemberRomance.
* OverlyLongName: The family seems to have an [[TheMaidenNameDebate aversion to changing their names upon marriage]] or choosing one partner's name to be the child's surname. Hence, Dennis Kim and Lydia Spencer have a daughter named Alice Spencer-Kim (not too bad in itself), who grows up to marry Eric Lewis, and who saddles her own daughter with the less-than-concise moniker of Olivia Spencer-Kim-Lewis.[[note]]In an October 2017 update, Olivia's last name had the "Spencer" dropped from it to just "Kim-Lewis" because [[CharacterNameLimits it was too long to be used in Create-A-Sim]].[[/note]]

!! The BFF Household
Free spirit Liberty, cheerful Summer, and geeky Travis are unlikely friends, and nothing can come between these three. Except perhaps the growing feelings both Summer and Liberty have for Travis...
----
* AsianAndNerdy: Liberty retains her ''VideoGame/MySims'' counterpart's Geekiness, and is given an Asian appearance and the surname "Lee".
* BettyAndVeronica: Up to a point. Players familiar with the source material will probably regard Summer as the Veronica to Liberty's Betty, since even though ''VideoGame/MySimsKingdom'' gave the player the choice of which girl to pair up with Travis, it was pretty heavily implied that he and Liberty were perfect for each other, while Summer's infatuation with him was genuine but based far more on his looks than his personality. However, ''The Sims 4'' [[AvertedTrope averts]] this to a surprising degree, giving both women one trait and one skill interest in common with Travis, making them both genuinely seem like good potential love interests.
* CanonImmigrant: Summer, Liberty, and Travis all originally appeared in the ''VideoGame/MySims'' games before appearing here in the main series.
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: Their bio and the household name states that they're good friends, but in the game itself, they're only acquaintances and neither of the girls have any romantic attraction to Travis.
* LoveTriangle: The household bio implies that Travis has attracted the romantic attentions of both his female roommates. This is not the case in-game, though it's a reference to the trio's story line in ''VideoGame/MySimsKingdom''.
* TwoGirlsAndAGuy: They had this dynamic in the ''VideoGame/MySims'' games, and continue it (sans that "childhood" part) now that they're adults in ''The Sims 4''.

!! Alex Moyer
* ButNowIMustGo: After completing the tutorial, she moves out, telling you that she now has other new Sims to help get adjusted to the neighborhood. You can remain friends with her, however, and even invite her to move back in (although her mostly-negative personality traits make her somewhat aggravating to be around.)
* ExtremeOmnivore: One of her character traits is "glutton."
* {{Immortality}}: Unlike other Sims, she always remains a young adult, even if she's added to a player household.
* LazyBum: She has "lazy" and "glutton" as two of her traits, meaning that she'll basically just lay around all day, napping and eating garbage, if you add her back into a household.
* VideoGameTutorial: She's your roommate in the optional tutorial.

!! The Landgraab Family
The Landgraabs seem like the perfect family; wealthy, well-mannered, brilliant. But Nancy and Geoffrey are each hiding something. Will their secrets tear them apart or will they continue to build a wealthy dynasty?
----
* AdaptationalAttractiveness: Malcolm is slim, somewhat good-looking and decently dressed, compared to the chubby kid with glasses and dorky clothes he was in ''Sims 3''.
* AdaptationalUgliness: Geoffrey looks older, dresses more modestly, and has a potbelly, unlike his younger looking, more handsome ''Sims 3'' version.
** It's more subtle, but Nancy also looks older and her style could be considered somewhat unflattering.
* AbsurdlyYouthfulMother: Maybe. If they actually ''are'' the parents of full-grown Johnny Zest.
* AdaptationalVillainy: Malcolm and Nancy are much less pleasant than their ''The Sims 3'' incarnations. Malcolm has the Evil trait (his ''[=TS3=]'' counterpart was Good), while Nancy works as a crime lord (in ''[=TS3=]'' she was a businesswoman).
* BigFancyHouse: They own a mansion in Oasis Springs, as well as several pieces of high-end uptown real estate in San Myshuno. Although [[StoryAndGameplaySegregation this isn't something they remark upon in-game]], Nancy has several San Myshuno reviews warning poor people away from her expensive apartments.
* BlackSheep: Geoffrey's a genuinely sweet guy working in law enforcement, while his wife is a snobbish criminal, and his son basically as evil as a Sim can get.
** Definitely the case with Johnny Zest who, whatever relation he had to the Landgraabs was totally excommunicated because of his choice of career.
* CompositeCharacter: This version of the Landgraabs takes on many of the more unsavory qualities their rivals, the Altos had in ''3''.
** Malcolm in particular is a combination of his Sims 3 persona and the villainous Malcolm Landgraab from the early console titles, so much so that an official version of the console Landgraab, which is literally just Malcolm aged up exists for download.
* DatingCatwoman: Nancy and Geoffrey are HappilyMarried, but their family bio indicates that Nancy and Geoffrey are hiding something from each other, which may have something to do with their conflicting careers as Geoffrey is a Secret Agent while Nancy is a Criminal.
* EnfantTerrible: Malcolm's just a teenager, but his aspiration, and the fact that one of his traits literally is ''Evil'' make him a pretty malicious kid.
* RichBitch: Nancy, the insanely wealthy, stuck-up career criminal.
** Malcolm, even more so, since his traits make him actively malicious.
* SiblingYinYang: Assuming Malcolm is indeed Johnny Zest's younger brother. Johnny is a friendly, outgoing Sim who aspires to become a comedian whereas Malcolm is mean and haughty.
* UpperClassTwit: Nancy's a Snob, and if her "reviews" on the San Myshuno webpage are to be believed, cartoonishly disdainful of poor people, or basically anything and anybody that isn't at the Landgraab's level of wealth.
** Malcolm is also a Snob, and you can definitely tell.
* UglyGuyHotWife: Geoffrey's not strictly ''bad looking'', but he's got a bit of a belly, a cheesy mustache, and styles himself with pretty dorky clothes, while Nancy is far more fashionable.
* LegacyCharacter: Almost as much as the Goths. Notably, the Landgraab family in ''The Sims 4'' is represented by versions of the same characters who appeared in ''The Sims 3'' base game.
* LaughablyEvil: Malcolm has the Evil trait, which pretty much guarantees this.
* ThePrankster: Given that being Evil in The Sims universe is quite understandably not a serious thing , most of Malcolm and Nancy's bad deeds end up being pranks, or picking on other Sims.
** Also applies to Johnny, who has the "Goofball" trait and can therefore play pranks as well, even though in his case, it can be chalked up to an aspect of his playful personality instead of a genuine desire to cause mischief.
* TeensAreMonsters: Going by traits alone, Malcolm is probably the worst person in ''The Sims 4'' base game.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Geoffrey is the only member of the Landgraabs who retains his benevolent personality, especially now that he has the [[NiceGuy good]] trait and works as a crime fighter.

!! The Caliente Family
It’s no longer girls-only now that Caliente matriarch Katrina has moved in her mooching boy toy, Don. With three fiery, attractive ladies in the house, will Don remain faithful or will he get involved with more than one Caliente woman?
----
* AdaptationSpeciesChange: No mention is made of the twins having Alien ancestors, mostly because Aliens don't exist in the base game, and even then, their Alien ancestor was on their now non-existent father's side.
* AbsurdlyYouthfulMother: Katrina Caliente, the twins' mother in the alternate universe, looks barely any older than her daughters. (She is in the Adult life stage, while they are Young Adults; in-game it can be very hard to differentiate, especially if no cosmetic aging features have been used on the Adult, as is the case with Katrina.) It's also actually impossible for her to be their mother in-game without having used the youth potion reward since she'd have had to have given birth to them on her first day of the Young Adult life stage (leaving no room in the time frame for the actual pregnancy).
** These inconsistencies were addressed in a ''Behind The Sims'' Stream, and the host heavily implies that Katrina is actually [[OurClonesAreIdentical a rejuvenated clone]] of Nighat Caliente, created to be the perfect sexy mother Nina and Dina always wanted to grow up with.
* AdaptationNameChange: Dina and Nina's mother was named Nighat in the original continuity, but here is called Katrina. (Assuming she's meant to be the same character at all, which is unclear.)
** It is speculated that the name was changed because ''Nig''hat is picked up by the [[ScunthorpeProblem word filter]], and would as such not appear on the Gallery.
* TheAlcoholic: Dina's ambitions all revolve around learning to make ever more elaborate drinks at the bar and then consuming them.
* BrilliantButLazy: Nina is as intelligent and cunning as her other incarnations, but while they were all athletic and ambitious, she's lazy and work-shy.
* CasanovaWannabe: Unlike previous incarnations, this Don has shades of it, since despite what the bios say, he's not romantically involved with anyone at the start of the game.
* FamilyThemeNaming: Nina, Dina, and Katrina.
* FieryRedhead: Nina is Hot-Headed and has red hair.
* FratBro: Don, this time around, with him now having tattoos, spiky hair, a t-shirt, and skinny jeans.
* LovableJock: Depends on how you see things, but this version of Don is basically a stereotypical 2010's gym-bro.
* LegacyCharacter: Don Lothario and Dina and Nina Caliente, who have all appeared (in various incarnations) in ''The Sims 2'', ''The Sims 2'' for console, ''The Sims 3'', and now ''The Sims 4''. They're getting nearly as ubiquitous as the Goths and the Landgraabs.
* LoveDodecahedron: In a change-up from previous installments, the family bio implies that Don Lothario is actually the boyfriend of Katrina Caliente, the mother of his twin girlfriends from the original timeline. However, since this ''is'' Don, Dina, and Nina we're talking about, it seems highly likely that one of these will develop sooner rather than later...
* MeaningfulName: Caliente, [[BilingualBonus Spanish for "hot"]], may apply to their appearance for some, but all three have the "hot-headed" trait, simultaneously making Katrina and Nina {{Fiery Redhead}}s.
* MrFanservice: Love him or hate him, Don is probably the most physically fit premade Sim in the base game.
* MumLooksLikeASister: Try figuring out which one is Katrina and which one is Nina without scrolling over the characters' names.
* RaceLift: The original timeline's Caliente sisters were of Spanish, Arab and Alien descent. Not only is their skin far lighter here, but with no family tree to speak of they just appear to be non-specifically hispanic. 2023 would see them getting redesigned to darken their skin and make them closer to their original incarnations.
* SiblingTriangle: As ever, one is about to erupt between Don, Dina, and Nina. The addition of Katrina to the mix makes it a mother-daughter triangle as well.

!! The Roomies Household
This household seems to have stepped right out of a TV sitcom. What wacky misadventures will the perky Zoe, easygoing Mitchell, uptight ladies' man J, and intellectual Gavin suffer this week? Tune in and find out!
----
* {{Expy}}: For the four main characters from ''Series/NewGirl'': Zoe is Jess (her name is even a clear homage to Creator/ZooeyDeschanel), Mitchell is Nick, J is Schmidt, and Gavin is Winston.
* OneLetterName: J Huntington III. "J" is recognised by the game engine as his full first name.
* ShoutOut[=/=]WholePlotReference: The entire household is a thinly veiled homage to the sitcom ''Series/NewGirl''.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: For other households named "Roomies" over the course of the series, particularly the ones which appeared in ''The Sims'' for console and ''VideoGame/TheSims3''.

!! Johnny Zest
Johnny Zest has the stage name and the dream, but maybe not the talent... Disowned by the Landgraabs for quitting school, Johnny wants to make his own fame and fortune as a standup comedian.
----
* BlackSheep: Of the Landgraab family. Whatever relation he has to the Landgraabs, it's clear he doesn't share their elitist values, being fully willing to change his name and live in a crappy trailer.
* CainAndAbel: Should your headcanon consider Johnny the brother of Malcolm Landgraab, it's not hard to see a big difference between the kindhearted Johnny, who rejected a life of wealth to follow his heart, and the evil, spoiled Malcolm.
* DisinheritedChild: He became this after he decided to follow his dreams of becoming a comedian.
* {{Expy}}: Being a blonde, disinherited child of the Landgraab family who lives in a trailer in a sandy region gives him a fair bit of similarity to Dudley in VideoGame/TheSimsBustinOut.
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: Although his bio states he was disowned by the Landgraabs, he starts off the game as not knowing them or vice-versa, and he also is not marked as related on the family tree, which also means he can potentially get into a romantic relationship with any of them.
* IHaveNoSon: His bio reveals that Johnny Zest isn't his real name, and that he's actually a Landgraab (it's unclear whether he's Nancy and Geoffrey's son, and therefore Malcolm's older brother, or a more distant relative). The name change is actually to promote his career as a comedian, but this led him to be disowned by the Landgraabs, so now he goes by it full-time.
* InTheBlood: Should he be Nancy and Geoffrey's son, he's definitely inherited most, if not all of his character from Geoffrey, and basically nothing from Nancy.
* OnlyKnownByHisNickname: Johnny Zest is his stage name, which he now uses full-time as a result of being disowned by the Landgraab family. His original name is never revealed.
* RichesToRags: He grew up as a member of the wealthy and influential Landgraab family, but now lives in a trailer home after he was disowned and cut off from the bank accounts.
* SiblingYinYang: Assuming he is indeed Malcolm's older brother. Johnny is a friendly, outgoing Sim who aspires to become a comedian whereas Malcolm is mean and haughty.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Ignoring the fact that he's ''technically'' not related to the Landgraabs anymore, his looks are very much like those of Geoffrey, Malcolm and Nancy. If he is indeed Geoffrey's son, he also inherited his father's good-natured personality.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: Johnny's trailer home looks an awful lot like Dudley Landgraab's trailer from the first generation console games. Johnny himself could easily pass for a cleaned-up version of Dudley. (Since "Johnny Zest" is a stage name, he might even ''be'' this timeline's version of Dudley).
** That being said, Dudley Landgraab (along with his father, sister and stepmother) is available for download on The Sims 4 Gallery, through Maxis official account. So it's more likely that Johnny was introduced as a brand new character.

[[folder: Windenburg]]
!! The Behr Family
A pair of sisters living in an old cottage left to them by their late grandmother. Older sister Candy is a free-spirited party girl and popular DJ, while younger sister Yuki is a quiet loner and part-time hacker.
----
* BigSisterWorship: Younger sister Yuki adores her older sister Candy.
* BrilliantButLazy: Lightly implied with Yuki, who has a C average in high school despite her TeenGenius traits.
* CanonImmigrant: Candy and Yuki were both recurring characters in the ''VideoGame/MySims'' series before making their way into the mainline franchise with this appearance.
* CoversAlwaysLie: Candy's in-game hair is different from the hair she has on the packaging. On the cover, it's relatively normal bleach-blonde hair with dyed tips, whereas in CAS, the colors are the same, but it's a lot bulkier and poofier to the point where it almost looks like a cheap wig. As per usual, fans have made plenty of mods that replace Candy's in-game hair with various similar CC hairstyles.
* {{Expy}}: Candy is one of DJ Candy "Supergroove" from ''VideoGame/MySims'', and even has a [=MySims=] trophy of her in her bedroom. Yuki also shares her name with a ''[=MySims=]'' character and has a matching trophy in her room, suggesting a similar connection; though unlike Candy, she doesn't really resemble her counterpart.
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: Despite being described as a skilled hacker, Yuki doesn't start with any Programming skill.
* GamerChick: Yuki starts out at level 6 in Video Gaming.
* HeadphonesEqualIsolation: Yuki has headphones as part of her outfit and she's a loner.
* LonelyAmongPeople: Yuki has the "loner" trait, so she gets tense moodlets if the player has her interact with Sims she isn't already friends with. When the player first loads up her household, she doesn't know some of the people in her clubs, so she'll get tense even at her own club gatherings. She's also one of the few teenagers in Windenburg who isn't part of either the Paragons or Renegades clique.
* PlayfulHacker: Yuki's bio states that she aspires to be one of the most infamous hackers in Windenburg, though she doesn't start out with the necessary skill level in Programming to do so.
* RaceLift: In the ''[=MySims=]'' games, Yuki is AmbiguouslyBrown while Candy is blonde-haired and apparently Caucasian. In their ''Sims 4'' appearance they both have vaguely Asian facial features and fair skin, presumably inspired by Yuki having a Japanese name. (However, their surname is German, suggesting they might have a mixture of European and Asian heritage.)
* RelatedInTheAdaptation: There's no indication in the ''[=MySims=]'' games that Candy and Yuki are related, or even know each other. They're sisters in ''The Sims 4''.
* TeenGenius: Yuki has the "Quick Learner" trait, and she's a notorious hacker even though she's barely a teenager when the player first loads up the game.
* YouDontLookLikeYou: {{Downplayed}} with Candy, who shares enough similarities with her ''VideoGame/MySims'' counterpart that she's pretty instantly recognisable if you've played those games. Yuki however, is another case. In [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/mysims/images/d/d3/Yuki.png/revision/latest?cb=20091205012829 My Sims]] she is a quirky AmbiguouslyBrown girl with dark AnimeHair, [[TechnicolorEyes purple eyes]], CuteLittleFangs and wears a kimono-like dress, while [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/sims/images/c/c7/Yuki_Behr.png/revision/latest?cb=20151208185643 here]] she is a geeky fair skinned girl with medium teal hair, brown eyes and wears a regular set of pants and t-shirt.

!! The Villareal Family
An enormously wealthy, mysterious family of four living on the expensive Von-Windenburg Estate. Patriarch Jacques Villarreal is a criminal mastermind whose wife disappeared under mysterious circumstances, leaving him to raise their three kids alone. Eldest son Max, an aspiring SupremeChef, and daughter Luna, a SpoiledSweet prep, are typical, friendly kids—but youngest son Max is an EnfantTerrible who seems destined to follow in his father’s footsteps.
----
* AmbiguousSituation: It's heavily implied that Jacques killed his wife. However there isn't a gravestone for her or any indication that she was made in the game at all, so it's unknown how she actually disappeared.
* BigFancyHouse: The children each have massive bedrooms, Jacques' room is a full floor of the house, and there's even a spare side room for guests (or a butler, if you have Vintage Glamour Stuff.)
* AChildShallLeadThem: Max is a child, and is the one leading the Renegades.
* EnfantTerrible: The youngest Villareal, Max, is Evil and he is the leader of the Renegades. His household bio even describes him as a “terrifying force of nature,” and the Parenthood pack also reveals that he has low empathy.
* EvilGenius: Jacques is implied to be one, as he possesses the [[MoodSwinger Insane/Erratic]] and Genius traits, has level 9 skill in Logic, and his rank in the Boss branch of the Criminal career (level 9) is "The Brains".
* LackOfEmpathy: Max has significantly lower empathy than both of his siblings if the user has the Parenthood pack installed.
* MiddleChildSyndrome: Hugo Villareal is not as noticeable as the rest of his popular and eccentric family.
* MissingMom: Mrs. Villareal disappeared under, ahem, mysterious circumstances.
* SelfMadeOrphan: Although the game itself implies that Jacques murdered his wife, it doesn't really provide any answers to the mystery, and Max's Evil traits and lack of empathy have led some fans to speculate that he either killed his mother, helped Jacques kill her, or helped dispose of her body.
* SiblingRivalry: Luna and Max are members of the two largest opposing clubs, the Paragons and the Renegades. Their relationship starts off decent, but will quickly decline after a few club gatherings.
* SpoiledSweet: Luna invokes many stereotypical high school mean girl tropes with her pink clothes, rich family, and clique of popular friends. But her only traits are "romantic" and "childish," and she has positive relationships with her siblings at the start of the game despite their different club allegiances (although Max and Luna's relationship will deteriorate quickly once Max starts having Renegades meetings.)
* ValleyGirl: Luna has a high-pitched voice, a peppy walk, and preppy, pink clothes that are clearly designed to invoke this trope. She's also a member of the Paragons, an exclusive, popular clique of teens and young adults.

!! The Bjergsen Family
A fairly well-off family from The Crumbling Isle. Consists of father Bjorn, a secret agent; mother Clara, a chef; and their two daughters, Sofia and Elsa. Sofia, a TeenGenius with natural musical talent, is determined to make it big one day, but she often feels overshadowed by Elsa, a fiercely intelligent ChildProdigy. Like most of the wealthier teenagers in Windenburg, Sophia is a member of the Paragons, while Elsa leads her own League of Adventurers club.
----
* BigFancyHouse: Like the Villareals, they live on the Crumbling Isle. Their home is a massive modern mansion on the beach, and both Sofia and Elsa have huge bedrooms (Sofia's can fit a grand piano!)
* ChildProdigy: Younger sister Elsa starts with a maxed-out Mental skill, and leads the young League of Adventurers club.
* SiblingRivalry: It's implied that Sofia views Elsa as such.
* TeenGenius: When it comes to music, Sofia is the star of the family with a level 8 Guitar skill, and is often seen performing for tips in San Myshuno in the ''City Living'' expansion. Despite this, she feels overshadowed by her equally-smart younger sister Elsa.

!! The Munch Family
Raising three kids is never easy -- particularly when one refuses to move out of the house, and one is a gloomy rebel. But Mila Munch is nothing if not dedicated to her family, and her sweet little Lucas always cheers her up after a hard day of restaurant work.
----
* CheerfulChild: Lucas, the youngest brother, cheers up his mother Mila after she comes home from her job as a caterer.
* DisappearedDad: Mila is a single parent.
* EmoTeen: Wolfgang has the Gloomy and Mean traits, and he dresses the part with his dark-colored clothes and thick black {{Guyliner}}. His [[DelinquentHair spiky, bleach blonde hair]] ties the whole look together.
* MommasBoy: Gunther is implied to be one, for the family bio states that he refuses to leave the house to strike out on his own.
* TeensAreMonsters: Wolfgang is Mean, Dastardly, has the Public Enemy aspiration, and is also a part of the Renegades, a club full of delinquents. The Parenthood game pack also shows that he has low empathy points.
* ThisIsMySide: Wolfgang and Lucas actually share a bedroom, but it's divided in half so evenly that the player can hardly tell unless they play with walls all the way up. Wolfgang's side has black carpeting, black wallpaper, a chess table, and some miscellaneous goth-y posters, while Lucas's side is looks exactly how you'd expect a CheerfulChild's bedroom to look, complete with pastels, stickers, and toys.
* WhiteSheep: Gunther is a grown MommasBoy who refuses to move out and is very low on his career ladder to boot, and Wolfgang is a gloomy EmoTeen who belongs to a club of delinquents, making CheerfulChild Lucas the white sheep out of the brothers.

!! The Free Spirits
Bookish Maaike and artsy Ulrike aren't materialistic, but even these two roommates admit they could use a few upgrades around the house. Will Maaike be able to sell a few stories, or will Ulrike finally put out a painting that meets her exacting standards?
----
* ThePerfectionist: Ulrike is a skilled (level 5) painter and very artistic-minded, and the bio for the household states that she has yet to craft a painting to satisfy her standards.

!! The Fyres Family
Things couldn't be better between lovebirds Dominic and Moira -- too bad the same can't be said for their daughters! Free spirit Morgan just wants to have fun with her Renegade friends, but Siobhan can't stand that attitude. Siobhan is determined to build a network of popular friends who can help her career aspirations. Will Siobhan move out on her own before the tension in the house explodes?
----
* AlphaBitch: Siobhan is implied to be one, as she is the leader of the Paragons, a group of popular preps. It’s implied that she’s more interested in networking and building a career than befriending the other people in the group.
* BigFancyHouse: Although they don't live on the expensive Crumbling Isle, the Fyres have a massive estate on one of the biggest lots in the game, and their house is huge.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Despite belonging to the Renegades and having a darker aesthetic, Morgan lacks any particularly negative traits. In fact, she has the ''Good'' trait!
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: Siobhan is the responsible one, having a nice office job and being part of a popular clique. Morgan is the foolish one, having low grades and joining a club of delinquents.
* SiblingRivalry: Siobhan and Morgan can't stand each other's attitudes, and they both are in opposing clubs: the Paragons and the Renegades.
* SiblingYinYang: Siobhan is hardworking, responsible, and preppy, while Morgan is irresponsible, destructive, and focused on partying. In addition, it's implied that Siobhan only hangs out with her friends because they're powerful and rich, while Morgan is more concerned with having fun.
* WildTeenParty: Morgan's aspiration requires throwing lots of these.

!! Partihaus
Drink, flirt, dance, repeat. Jade, Eva, and Paolo jumped at the opportunity to explore the world and set up the ultimate crib in Windenburg as soon as Marcus extended the invite. And the party hasn’t stopped since. Drama is never far behind when they’re together - and they’re always together! With only one and a half jobs between the four of them, how in the world do they manage to pay their bills?
----
* BigOlEyebrows: Paolo's got some particularly thick eyebrows.
* ManChild: Marcus is in the adult life stage, while the other three are young adults. It's unstated but strongly hinted that he's really just an older guy hanging around with a group of younger friends to try to hold on to his own youth.
* NeverTrustATrailer: The ''Get Together'' trailer indicates that Paolo Rocca is romantically interested in Morgan Fyres, but they don't even know each other in the actual game. Not only that, but Morgan is a teenager and Paolo is a young adult, so players can't put them together at all until Morgan ages up, at which point there will be a very large age gap between them.
* PrettyFreeloaders: Only Paolo Rocca (Athlete) and Jade Rosa (Business) have jobs by default, but both of them are pretty low on their respective career ladders. Marcus and Eva are unemployed.
* PunnyName: Marcus Flex's name is a pun on the term "Muscle Flex".
* TeamDad: Lightly implied to be the case with Marcus, who is already in the adult life stage while the other three are young adults. The household bio also states that he invited the other three to share the house, suggesting it was his to begin with. However, he's something of a deconstruction of the trope: he's no more mature than the other three and doesn't even have a job to begin with.
* WholePlotReference: The household is a nod to reality TV shows like MTV's ''Jersey Shore.'' Eva Capricossa in particular looks a lot like Snooki.

!! The Bro Household
Tech-savvy hunk Sergio and brash DJ Joaquin have little in common... except for the finer things in life. As they climb the ranks and rake in the bucks, just how awesome can they make their sweet pad?
----
* NonIndicativeName: Neither Sergio Romeo nor Joaquin Le Chien possesses the "Bro" trait.[[labelnote: Note]] Oddly they're the only household that consists of male roommates who ''don't'' have the Bro trait. [[/labelnote]] They live together simply because of their shared ambition: to become Fabulously Wealthy.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: San Myshuno]]

!! The Bheeda Family
With a baby on the way and a tiny city apartment, will Jesminder and Arun find space for their bundle of joy? Will Jesminder keep her mixology job when the baby comes, or would she rather stay at home and paint?
----
* HappilyMarried: Bheeda and Arun have a positive romantic relationship and are expecting their first child at the start of the game.
* MakingRoomForBaby: Hinted at in the family bio. Their small apartment has a cradle next to the bed in the master bedroom, but this will eventually become necessary as their child grows older and needs a bigger bed and their own room.

!! The Feng Family
Victor is a respected and high-powered politician. Lily is a tough businesswoman. Their respectful, yet somber nature masks their sinister, secret plans to one day take over San Myshuno!
----
* AffablyEvil: Despite their stated goal of "taking over San Myshuno," they're both pretty typical people. Victor is materialistic and Lily hates children, but neither of them are Mean or Evil, and both are geniuses. They aren't too difficult to get along with in-game if your Sim wants to befriend them.
* ChildHater: Lily has the "Hates Children" trait.
* GoldDigger: Lily is married to wealthy politician Victor even though she has the Unflirty trait, suggesting she didn't marry him for love. However, despite the fact that she tends to shy away from romantic affection, they do have a positive relationship (see HappilyMarried below.)
* HappilyMarried: They have a positive romantic relationship at the start of the game, even though Lily has the Unflirty trait.

!! The Karaoke Legends
Miko's a peppy aspiring politican who shares a room with her basketball-loving buddy, Darling. Their charismatic roommate, Kibo is downright dreamy in Miko's eyes, but he couldn't be more oblivious to her obvious flirting. Will their mutual love for karaoke bring them together?
----
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Miko has a crush on Akira, but he doesn't seem to notice.
* AmbiguouslyAbsentParent: Darling is a teenager, but her parents are completely absent from her life, and she lives with two unrelated adults instead.
* AmbiguousGenderIdentity: Darling is recognised as female by the game, but can easily be mistaken for male going by her appearance alone, as she favours short-cropped hair and masculine clothing. {{Fanon}} often treats Darling as non-binary.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Darling and Miko. Darling is a tomboy who wears mostly masculine clothing and is really into basketball, while Miko is a girly girl who has lavender hair and is always seen in pink and purple dresses. Likewise, Darling is Unflirty, while Miko's a romantic with a huge crush on their roommate Akira.

!! The Rasoya Family
----
Raj may be a successful Chef, but his critical mother still worries about when he's going to find a nice girl and carry on the family line...
* IWantGrandkids: Geeta is worried that her Unflirty son Raj is unable to find a date, and that she'll have no one to carry on the family line when she dies.
* SupremeChef: Raj has a maxed-out Cooking skill and is also very skilled (level 7) in Gourmet Cooking. His mother Geeta is no slouch herself with a level 8 Cooking skill, but never bothered to extend into Gourmet Cooking.

!! Salim Benali
Salim has grown up in the Arts Quarter, surrounded by poets, musicians and artists. He's determined to become a great writer… right after he's finished that book. Oh, and that video game he needs to beat. Come to think of it, he needs a nap too.
----
* BrilliantButLazy: Salim is an extremely skilled writer (level 8 Writing skill) with dreams of becoming a Bestselling Author, but his bio states that he is Lazy and gets distracted easily.
* HiddenDepths: In the San Myshuno reviews (in which certain townies from City Living will leave behind comments on the lots), Selim is shown to be passionate about self-expression and diversity. He also dislikes uptown and the rich.

!! Diego Lobo
Established and novice artists alike shudder in anticipation for the day Diego Lobo steps his critical foot into their gallery. Impress him and you'll have it made for life. But if one brush stroke is off, if just one hue is not quite to his liking, you may never work in this town again.
----
* CausticCritic: His household bio states that any artist who even slightly disappoints him will never find work in the city again.
* EccentricArtist: His unique wardrobe and his job as an art critic certainly suggest this.
* InsufferableGenius: In-game, he's a Snob. On the San Myshuno interactive map, he has a number of reviews where he praises his own expensive taste.

!! Penny Pizzazz
Penny is THE source of the coolest happenings and the latest trends in San Myshuno. But will this Online A-Lister's staunch dedication to her career get in the way of finding romance?
----
* TheFashionista: Her career is Style Influencer.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Forgotten Hollow]]

!! Count Vladislaus Straud IV
Count Vladislaus Straud IV is the latest descendant to occupy Straud Manor. His oddly similar looking line of ancestors has resided here since the founding of Forgotten Hollow.
----
* AristocratsAreEvil: He has the "Evil" trait and is supposedly a count.
* ClassicalMovieVampire: As mentioned below, his main form takes a fair number of cues from movie portrayals of Dracula.
* {{Expy}}: Of {{Dracula}}. His main form resembles Creator/ChristopherLee's take on the character, while his dark form and main outfit are a ShoutOut to ''Film/{{Nosferatu}}''.
* FrozenFashionSense: While most other vampires in the game are seen in contemporary wear, his default outfit is a simple black peacoat.
* LooksLikeOrlok: His dark form is a dead ringer for Orlok, with the pale skin, lack of hair, and pointy ears.
* NonstandardCharacterDesign: His unique vampiric features make him a popular partner for Sim breeding challenges, like the Uglacy challenge.
* ObviouslyEvil: Even if you didn't know he was a vampire, he's an incredibly sinister looking man living alone in a dimly lit, decrepit castle, playing a pipe organ as his only hobby.
* YoungerThanTheyLook ''and'' OlderThanTheyLook: A bizarre zig-zagging. Vlad is considered to be a Young Adult by the game, but his white hair and facial features make him look a lot older than his code would suggest. On the other hand, he's several hundred years old, far beyond any of the human Young Adults or even Elders for that matter.

!! The Vatore Family
The Vatore siblings moved into Forgotten Hollow a few years ago and are striving to make it their home. This can be quite challenging at times since they are not exactly on the best terms with Vladislaus Straud, but when asked they only ever mention a difference in their culinary tastes.
----
* AmazonianBeauty: Lilith, who has the "Active" trait and is more visibly muscular than other female Sims.
* AmbiguouslyAbsentParent: No mention is made of their parents. Their house is furnished with one master bedroom, presumably for an adult couple, and one smaller bedroom with two twin beds, even though both siblings are adults.
* AmbiguouslyBi: In a trailer for the Vampires Game Pack, Caleb is shown flirting with two women and a man. However, he has no love interest(s) when the game is first loaded, and no mention of his orientation is ever seen in game.
* DarknessVonGothickname: {{Downplayed}} except for the standard gothic moniker "Lilith", but both the family name and the first names of the siblings just ''sound right'' for vampires. Amusingly, early trailers named them as Gina and Raylan Lange, suggesting that they might have chosen something a little cooler for themselves upon becoming vampires.
* {{Expy}}: Caleb is most likely one of [[Literature/{{Twilight}} Edward Cullen]]. His "Foodie" and "Materialistic" traits, along with his fashion sense, also bring to mind [[Literature/InterviewWithTheVampire Lestat]] or [[Film/WhatWeDoInTheShadows Viago]].
* FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire: Both siblings (especially Caleb, who has the "Good Vampire" ambition by default).
* RomanticVampireBoy: Caleb doesn't have the "Romantic" trait but is clearly modeled after this archetype.
* VegetarianVampire: They both prefer to drink from plasma packs/fruits rather than Sims, this is the cause of their feud with Vlad.

[[folder: Brindleton Bay]]

!! The Delgato Family
While Supriya loves her full-time job as a stay-at-home mom, it's been getting harder and harder to suppress her dreams of being a full-fledged veterinarian. Especially now that the owner of the Brindleton Pawspital is looking to sell the business. Her husband Justin has always been supportive, and keeps offering to take a break from work so she can follow her dream. But can Supriya really trust him to keep the peace at home between Blue and Bartholomew? Not to mention Pierce and Evie too!
----
* HouseHusband: Justin is both Family-Oriented and Neat which would make him a rather good keeper (and he's willing to take over should Supriya choose to become a veterinarian) but Supriya [[MenCantKeepHouse doesn't believe he's capable of taking care of the kids and pets.]]
* MeaningfulName: "Gato" is Spanish for "cat."
* PreppyName: The family cat is named Bartholomew A. Bittlebun, Sr.

!! The Hecking Family
Life in their new home seems to agree with newlyweds Brent and Brant. The small-town bustle inspires Brent's painting, and Brant loves to explore the Bay's beautiful neighborhoods. But will they ever agree on who gets to take their beloved Rosie with them?

(Husbands Brent and Brant and their dog, Rosie. Notably, the first married male gay couple in the entire franchise.)
----
%%* TheBear: While the Sims 4 lacked any sort of body hair outside mods when the pack was released, Brant is often considered this due to his larger build and thick beard.
* HappilyMarried: First gay couple to be such. Their bio indicates they're newlyweds and their only arguing point is over who their dog spends more time with.
* ShoutOut: Both their names are this to the "They're Good Dogs Brent" meme from the Twitter account We Rate Dogs[[note]]A user named @Brant complained that the account should be called Cute dogs as their rating system is always 11 or 12 out of ten and made no sense. We Rate Dogs replied twice, getting the vowel in their name wrong each time, first calling them Bront, and ending with "They're good dogs Brent" The account is also known for using "Heckin'" as a euphemism like "A Heckin' good dog". [[/note]]. The Lot they live on is even called "A Good House".

!! Catarina Lynx
Cats in the neighborhood know where to go for a good meal. Catarina's always had a soft spot for animals, and the cats she lives with have the best home a cat could ask for. Sometimes Catarina asks herself if there's something more to life than cats... usually right before she adopts another stray.
----
* CrazyCatLady: Her name and wardrobe are cat-themed, and she lives alone with four cats (and her household bio indicates she'd be open to adopting more.)
* {{Expy}}: Of Ginia Kat from ''VideoGame/TheSims: Unleashed'' and her daughter Tara Kat from ''VideoGame/TheSims2: Pets''.
* KindheartedCatLover: Catarina owns four cats and can't seem to stop herself from wanting to take home a new stray when she sees one.
* NonIndicativeName: Bartholomew A. Bittlebun, Jr. is not related to the Delgato family cat, Bartholomew A. Bittlebun, Sr.

!! Venessa Jeong
[[quoteright:256:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venessajeong.png]]

A country girl who moved to Del Sol Valley with hopes of becoming a top-tier celebrity.

* CountryMouse: Venessa moved to Del Sol Valley from a country town and is looking for her big break as an actress.
* GlorySeeker: She's a low profile actress, but she's determined to become a World-Famous celebrity.

!! The Bailey-Moon Family
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bailey_moonfamily.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:From left to right: Orange Bailey-Mooon, Thorne Bailey and Octavia Moon]]
Octavia Moon and Thorne Bailey are the power couple of the century. Octavia is the lyrical genius behind all of Thorne's greatest hits. Due to Thorne's most [[NoodleIncident recent misshap on social media]], his public image has started to falter. His fans are starting to realize that Octavia is the real talent. Orange is their good natured son but due to his entire life of wanting-for-nothing, he is also a bit naive.
* AerithAndBob: Octavia is a normal first name. Thorne as a first name is a bit uncommon, but nothing special. But ''Orange?'' Doubles as a reference to another celebrity child, Apple Martin, the daughter of Creator/GwynethPaltrow and Chris Martin of Music/{{Coldplay}}.
* TheAlcoholic: Octavia has the "Juice Enthusiast" quirk. She must have the occasional drink, or she'll fly into a rage.
* GhostWriter: Octavia writes all of Thorne's music, leading fans to believe that she's the real talent after Thorne's social media scandal.
* HappilyMarried: Octavia and Thorne are described as a power couple, indicating that they're happy together.
* NoodleIncident: The social media scandal that tanked Thorne's reputation has yet to be explained or explored.
* PhoneaholicTeenager: Orange has the "Phone Fanatic" quirk.
* SpoiledSweet: Orange is a good-natured kid but naive because of his upbringing.

!! Judith Ward
[[quoteright:256:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/judithward.png]]
* AmbitionIsEvil: The game emphasizes how cutthroat Judith is about her career, and how she will throw people under the bus when it suits her.
* DramaQueen: Has the "Emotion Bomb" quirk.
* SerialRomeo: Is heavily implied to have had many lovers.

!! Other Celebrities
!!! Kayla Flemming
* HardDrinkingPartyGirl: Kayla starts out with the "Juice Enthusiast" quirk, meaning she'll get irritable if she hasn't had a stiff drink every once in a while.

[[folder: [=StrangerVille=]]]

!! The Eclectic Arts Household
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eclecticarts.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:From left to right: Leslie Holland, Mark Eggleston and Alice Martin]]
Alice Martin, Mark Eggleston, and Leslie Holland are a trio of creative friends who decided to leave the chaotic big city and move to the quiet town of [=StrangerVille=] to seek artistic inspiration. Using a large sum of money they received from their parents, they bought a house on the Shady Acres plateau.

* BourgeoisBohemian: Implied by their artistic/creative aspirations, faintly bohemian clothing, and the fact that their parents paid for their house (which is something of a BigFancyHouse compared to the trailers on several of the other lots).
* CityMouse: They left the "modern world" to settle in the seemingly peaceful [=StrangerVille=].
* {{Bookworm}}: All three of them share this trait.
* TheHero: Not necessarily in-game, but all promotional material related to ''[=StrangerVille=]'' sets Alice Martin as the protagonist of the storyline.
* TwoGirlsAndAGuy: Alice, Leslie and Mark respectively.

!! The Sigworth Family
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sigworthfamily.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:From left to right: Christie, Jess and Dylan]]
A family that recently moved to [=StrangerVille=] for work. Consists of father Dylan, mother Jess, and daughter Christie; Jess is in the military and stationed at the nearby base.

* AmbiguouslyBrown: All three of them, especially Jess and Christie (as they have blue eyes to boot).
* BrainyBrunette: Dylan is a brunet with the Genius and Bookworm traits, and his aspiration is "Nerd Brain."
* {{HouseHusband}}: Dylan stays at home taking care of Christie while Jess is busy at the base.

!! George Cahill
[[quoteright:256:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/georgecahill.png]]
An elderly and reserved pilot who lives on the crashed remains of Penelope, his beloved airplane.

* AcePilot: Used to be one, until his plane crashing on [=StrangerVille=] forced him to retire.
* GrumpyOldMan: He has the [[HairTriggerTemper hot-headed]] trait, and it's very likely that his destroyed plane is the source of his anger.
* GogglesDoNothing: His pilot helmet comes with a pair of goggles that are just there for show.
* TheHermit: His bio states that, while harmless, he prefers to keep to himself.

!! The Roswell family
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/roswellfamily.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:From left to right: Ted and Meredith]]
The oldest couple living in [=StrangerVille=], consisting of Ted Roswell, the current mayor, and Meredith, his wife. Ted is determined to make the small and isolated [=StrangerVille=] as technologically advanced as possible, but Meredith worries that his ambitions are getting a bit out of hand.

* AmericansAreCowboys: Both them dress in stereotypical Wild West attire.
* InformedAttribute: Ted is supposed to be the mayor of [=StrangerVille=], but he's unemployed at the beginning of the game.
* GreaterScopeVillain: Ted Roswell was responsible for the founding of the lab and has been frequently visiting it after the explosion to try and cover up the atrocities that occurred there. Add the fact that he has the evil trait, and it basically shows that he is responsible for the infection in [=StrangerVille=].
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Meredith has blonde hair and the good trait.
* {{HouseWife}}: Meredith fits the bill with her developed cooking skills and neat trait.
* WrenchWench: Meredith also starts with a high level of handiness.

!! Erwin Pries
[[quoteright:256:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/erwinpries.png]]
One of the three sims featured in the reveal trailer for the [=StrangerVille=] pack, as well as the main narrator for the Investigation trailer. Erwin is responsible for running the Curio Stand, where he sells all manner of goods that might be useful to someone digging into [=StrangerVille=]'s secrets...

* ConspiracyTheorist: You bet! Most of the merchandise at his Curio Stand revolves around this sort of thing, including a book on 'avoiding unwanted snoops and spies'.
--> '''Erwin:''' They're lying to you! Something bad ''is'' happening here, and it's only getting worse!
* MeaningfulName: Erwin ''Pries''? He certainly does, considering that he's able to give you a keycard to the Secret Lab if you do a little prying yourself.
* MoodSwinger: He's got the Erratic trait, which means he'll randomly flip between emotions and can even [[TalkingToThemself talk to himself]].
* SpeakingSimlish: Partially averted, actually. As the narrator for the Investigation trailer, Erwin speaks English, which is even lipsynced for the brief times where he's on-screen. Ingame, of course, he speaks Simlish just like everybody else.
* TinfoilHat: Less 'tinfoil' and more like 'colander with Christmas lights taped on', but it's clearly meant to evoke the trope. He'll sell one to any Sim who asks.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Sulani]]
!! The Ngata Family
Coming to Sulani for inspiration, Leila didn't expect to fall in love so deeply with the islands. And it wasn't just the scenery that she fell for, but also for Oliana and her son Tane that welcomed her so easily into their family. The three are now an insparable [sic] trio that call Sulani their home enjoying the sand and ocean at their own pace.

* AllLesbiansWantKids: {{Zigzagged}}: Tane is Oliana's son and Leila's step-son and they are very much raising him together, but Oliana had him long before she fell in love with Leila, and may have been in a relationship with a man at the time.[[note]]''The Sims 4'' does't allow for surrogate pregnancy with a same-sex couple using a non-romantically-involved donor/surrogate of the opposite sex. The game does allow same-sex couples to have biological children, but only if Gender Customization is used to make one capable of becoming pregnant while the other can get others pregnant. Therefore, one alternate possibility is that Oliana's ex and Tane's other bio parent is a trans woman.[[/note]]
* AmbiguouslyBi: Oliana Ngata is married to a woman, but her son bears a strong physical resemblance to her, suggesting that he might be her biological child from a previous relationship with a man.
* ButchLesbian: Oliana Ngata is very muscular and dresses less femininely than her wife. However, in a slight subversion of this trope and unlike Leila (who is, by all indications, gay), Oliana may actually be bi.
* ClosetKey: It's lightly hinted that Oliana and Leila might have been this for each other.
* HappilyAdopted: Tane has a good relationship with his step-mother, Leila.
* HappilyMarried: Oliana and Leila have a very good starting relationship, and the family bio describes them falling in love and quickly becoming inseparable in very fond terms.
* LipstickLesbian: Leila Illes is very feminine, and her only known love interest is a woman.

!!The Hoapili Family
Sitting high above the center of Ohan'ali Town, Keala watches over the townsfolk who look to her for guidance. This spirited, young-at-heart grandmother has taken young Lia under her wing to pass on the knowledge and cultural history of Sulani through the generations.

* AmbiguousGenderIdentity: Lia is one of the first gender non-conforming, playable characters in the game: she has a feminine voice and fashion preference and the game recognizes her as female, but she has a masculine frame, leading many to believe she's a trans woman. However, Lia is also able to get pregnant, suggesting that she might in fact be intersex.
* AmbiguouslyRelated: It's wholly unclear whether Keala and Lia are legally/biologically grandmother and granddaughter, or whether their relationship is a surrogate one. They don't share a line on their respective family trees and have different surnames; but ''The Sims 4'' doesn't allow characters to have a direct relationship if you skip a generation in the middle during character creation, and of course in real life it's very common for grandparents and grandchildren to have different surnames.
* CoolOldLady: Keala Hoapili is described as a "spirited, young-at-heart" elderly lady who takes a grandmotherly interest in all the younger residents of Sulani.
** {{Fanon}} often suggests that she's taken the gender non-conforming Lia in as a surrogate granddaughter despite the lack of a confirmed relationship between the two, cementing her status as this for many players.

!!The Kealoha Family
The Kealohas are the epitome of Sulani: an industrious, welcoming, and tight-knit young family firmly rooted in island tradition to honor the past while supporting the bright future of their extended-family community.

* AmbiguouslyRelated: Duane Talla, the teenager, isn’t Liliana and Makoa’s son. He might be a member of their extended family, but it’s unclear just how he’s related to them, or why he’s living with them instead of his own parents.
* {{Expy}}: Duane Talla looks a lot like Maui from Disney’s ''Moana,'' and his first name is similar to that of Maui’s voice actor, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
* HappilyMarried: Liliana and Makoa have a positive romantic relationship, as well as a young daughter and a teenage boy they seem to have welcomed into their household.
* MeaningfulName: According to the wiki, “Kealoha” means “the loved one” in Hawaiian (from ''ke,'' a definite article, and ''aloha,'' “love.”)

!!The Kahananui Family
As the self-appointed "Sulani ambassadors" this enterprising couple, Mele and Alika, have decided to live out their golden years in a dream retreat away from the bustle of Ohan'ali Town.

* BigFancyHouse: The Kahananuis live on a large lot with multiple extra bedrooms, and Mele’s aspiration is to be a Mansion Baron.
* {{Greed}}: Mele’s aspiration is to be a Mansion Baron and Alika’s is to be Fabulously Wealthy, Mele is Materialistic and Alika is a Snob, Alika has a Snooty walk, and both have the bonus trait Business Savvy.
* HappilyMarried: A middle-aged couple with a positive romantic relationship.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Glimmerbrook/The Magic Realm]]
!! The Charm Family
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/charm_family_9.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:From left to right: Emilia Ernest, Minerva, Darrel, Gemma]]
The Charm family has produced generations of distinguished Spellcasters, as Minerva often reminds her children. Gemma resents her family's high expectations even though she secretly wants to make them proud. Darrel is an aspiring duelist who just got engaged to Emilia, a newly ascended Spellcaster who has a lot to live up to.

* CuteWitch: Emilia Ernest wears a preppy baby-blue outfit reminiscent of a schoolgirl's uniform. She's also clumsy and cheerful.
* IneptMage: Emilia starts as this, being a complete newbie to the art and having no skill in it yet. The player can level up her abilities if they so choose, although it will take longer than it will for her fiancé because she doesn't have any bloodline traits. Alternatively, they can just [[VideoGameCrueltyPotential let her build up charge until she explodes]], which is quite easy to do, as she doesn't have any helpful perks to remove charge or curses.
* MageBornOfMuggles: Emilia is this, having no bloodline trait. She became a spellcaster later in life, and her parents were normal Sims.
* NonstandardCharacterDesign: Aside from Minerva, the family looks more cartoonish and ugly than most premade sims. Darrel and Gemma get the brunt of the criticism, and Gemma in particular is often subject to makeovers that change her entire face and wardrobe. Considering her gaudy makeup and somewhat unflattering hairstyle, it isn't hard to see why.
* WellDoneSonGuy: Gemma acts like she resents her mother, but she secretly wants to make her family proud.
* WitchClassic: Minerva comes the closest to fitting this trope.

!! The Amicable Acolytes Household
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/charm_family_90.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:From left to right: Grace Anansi and Tomax Collette]]
Two fledgling spellcasters who are in a friendly competition to see who will become an Adept Spellcaster first.

* DidNotGetTheGirl: Possibly. Their household bio doesn't specify what their relationship to the Charm family is, but players have noticed that Tomax has a friendly relationship with Emilia, but a negative relationship with her fiancé Darrel (which is mutual.) It could be because Darrel is a snob, but none of the other characters have a negative relationship with him like Tomax does.
* FriendlyRivalry: Their dynamic.
* NaiveNewcomer: They're both fairly new spellcasters. Playing as them serves as a way for players to discover the magic system.

!! Morgyn Ember
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/charm_family_5.png]]
The Sage of Untamed Magic, and the main focus of the first ''Realm of Magic'' trailer.

* AmbiguousGenderIdentity: Morgyn's gender is given as male in CAS, but it's heavily customized. They have a masculine frame and a preference for female clothing, although some of their outfits contain items flagged as masculine. They're also unable to get pregnant or impregnate others, and they use the toilet sitting down. The creators have confirmed that Morgyn identifies as genderfluid, though due to limitations in the game engine they're officially referred to with masculine pronouns in-game.
* HotWitch: One of the more attractive Sims in the game (alongside Amicable Acolyte Grace Anansi.) Between Morgyn's looks and their LGBTFanbase, they're probably the most popular Sim in the whole game pack.
* LargeHam: They're very theatrical and dramatic in the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5huwCiu4r8 gameplay trailer.]]
* MasterOfOneMagic: They're the Sage of the Untamed by default, although their spellcaster rank is the highest there is in-game and they can preform other sorts of magic.
* SpeakingSimlish: Partially averted, like Erwin Pries above. They speak Simlish in the game, but narrates the gameplay trailer in English.

!!L. Faba
[[quoteright:256:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/l_faba_2.png]]
The Sage of Mischief Magic.

* {{Gonk}}: Has a much rounder face than most other premade Sims (see NonstandardCharacterDesign below.) This is especially noticeable when she's compared to her predecessor Keisha Hughes, who has the same color scheme but a very different design.
* {{Jerkass}}: Has the Mean and Dastardly traits.
* MasterOfOneMagic: She starts the game as the Sage of the Mischief school of magic, although, like Morgyn, she has a very high rank and can do other sorts of magic if the player controls her.
* NonstandardCharacterDesign: Her grey skin, pink hair and generally {{Gonk}}-like features make her look very different from most premade sims. Her predecessor as Sage, as seen in the pack trailer, was the more traditionally designed [[https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Keisha_Hughes Keisha Hughes]].
* OneLetterName: Only goes by her first initial, "L.", the second Sim in the franchise to do so after Oasis Springs's J. Huntingdon III.
* ThePrankster: Her aspiration and traits suggest that she's this. She's also the Sage of Mischief Magic, so she's a Princess of Pranksters of sorts.
* PunnyName: Her name is a pun on "Elphaba", the main character from the musical ''Theatre/{{Wicked}}'' and the [[Literature/{{Wicked}} novel]] on which it was based.
** Elphaba herself is based on The Wicked Witch of the West from L. Frank Baum's ''Literature/TheWizardOfOz'', so L. Faba's status as the Sage of Mischief Magic is on-brand.
** Furthermore, the name "Elphaba" is taken from the original author's initials "LFB", so L. Faba's OneLetterName name hearkens back to the initial inspiration for Elphaba!

!!Simeon Silversweater
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/l_faba_0.png]]
Sage of Practical Magic.

* HiddenDepths: He's a Geek, and he's very talented at programming and playing video games.
* RaceLift: [[AvertedTrope Mistaken for this]] by a lot of the playerbase, as the trailer for the pack showed a similar character with darker skin. The sim in question is actually [[https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Ethren_Reyes Ethren Reyes]], Simeon's predecessor as Sage, who was later made available via the Gallery.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Britechester]]

!!The Pleasant Twins

* LegacyCharacter: From ''The Sims 2'', with their father's family going back to the very first game.
* SiblingRivalry: A given for the Pleasant twins. They don't actively hate each other this time round, but they're not friendly, and given that Lilith's studying Villainy, and Angela's still a goody two-shoes, there's definite potential for drama.

!!The Best Of Friends Household

* ChildhoodFriends: According to their household description, they’ve been friends since kindergarten.
* DependingOnTheWriter: How the two became friends is inconsistent. According to the trailers for the ''Discovery University'', they met at university and initially disliked each other because of their lifestyles, but became friends after Becca offered Julia her friendship. However, they've been friends since kindergarten, according to their house description.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Evergreen Harbor]]

!!The Greenburg Family
Mary and Blossom are a couple of old timers in this town. They're trying to spruce up the space, with Mary focused on her garden and Blossom painting up unused places. Age isn't on their side anymore, however, it's a good thing their adopted son Knox is fighting for the family name to help make the world a little more green. Unfortunately, sometimes he takes "fighting" a little too literally.
----
* AscendedFanon: Mary and Blossom were originally created by Youtubers Plumbella, Simproved, and The English Simmer for a Sims Spark'd challenge. They were added to the game when the Spark'd team that created them won the first elimination challenge, and Knox (who was already going to be a part of ''Eco Lifestyle'') was {{Retcon}}ned into being their son.
* HippieParents: Mary and Blossom are both aging [[GranolaGirl granola girls]] who hope their son Knox will follow in their footsteps. Unlike most examples of this trope, Knox is more than happy to take his mothers up on that offer, to the point where he's said to be somewhat aggressive about it.
* InformedAttribute: The household's summary indicates that Knox takes eco living too seriously, and the ''Eco Lifestyle'' trailer shows him being rude to Sims who disagree with him. But in-game, he doesn't have the "Mean" or "Hot-Headed" traits, and he's a pretty easy Sim to get along with.

!! The Harris Family
Cletus and Faye found this heritage home in Grims Quarry for dirt cheap. Nothing seems wrong with it and the Harris' weren't about to question a good deal. Cletus' free-spirited mother soon joined them, completing the big happy family. Mysteriously, their eldest son always wear a shameful bag on his head. Also, it doesn't seem like any of them other than Faye has a job, but the house is well-furnished. What is going on here?
----
* HayseedName: Cletus, Faye, Jeb, Gideon, and Francine.
* HillbillyMoonshiner: [[FrothyMugsOfWater Juice-fizzer]], actually, but their [[HayseedName Hayseed names]] and suspiciously full bank account are clearly meant to evoke this trope. The presence of a dark room full of wall planters in their house adds to the impression that they make their money by growing and brewing illicit substances.
* SignatureHeadgear: Jeb always wears a bag over his head, possibly because he's ashamed of his HillbillyMoonshiner family.

!!The Sterling-Ricos
Bess and Jules are a power couple with big dreams. Big dreams about sweet sweet money. A civil designer by trade, Bess place herself in the perfect position to convince city officials and residents alike to enact programs that would benefit her bottom line. Her partner-in-crime, Jules, is a Style Influencer that loves fashion as much as he loves convincing people to his rejected styles. Cheerful and charismatic, together they hustle around Evergreen Harbor like an entrepreneurial whirlwind.
----
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: Bess. She's constantly asking players to invest in her get-rich-quick schemes, she votes for NAPs she believes will make her money rather than what will help the environment, and she teaches the player how to vote for profit. This initially made her TheScrappy, until people realized her get-rich-quick schemes actually pay off sometimes and net players thousands of dollars.
* GetRichQuickScheme: Bess frequently asks the player to invest in these. Unlike most schemes, though, Bess's ideas sometimes work, in which case the investing household will receive a large sum of money for their trouble.

!!The Tinker Family
The talented, but perpetually stressed Tina Tinker is a very successful Freelance Crafter. Her equally successful spouse Yasemin managed to convince her to move to Conifer Station with their daughter Olive. Tina takes on too much work, and Yasemin just wants her to relax and spend more time with family. Meanwhile curious little Olive loves nothing more than to admire her two mothers' works and dream of following in their footsteps.
----
* BigFancyHouse: Conifer Station is mostly middle-class, but the Tinkers live in Pigulock Manor, the most expensive and historical home in the whole neighborhood. It has a value of over 100,000 Simoleons.
* MeaningfulName: Tina ''Tinker'' enjoys, well, ''tinkering.''
* OneSteveLimit: Averted; they share a last name with a household from The Sims 2's Open for Business. Although there's no indication that the families are related, they're both artistic types, with Open for Business's Tinkers being toymakers and Eco Lifestyle's Tina Tinker being a Maker.
* {{Workaholic}}: Tina Tinker.

[[folder: Mt. Komorebi]]

!!The Ito family
Megumi Ito grew up in Senbamachi. A gold medalist skier, she aims to give her children the same upbringing, but memories of an old flame might drive her to distraction. Naoki Ito is a former medalist himself. A calculating businessman, his controversial vision of Mt. Komorebi includes more tourism, more money, and modernization. Nanami and Kiyoshi have their parents' athletic talent, but their hearts lie elsewhere. Nanami just wants to be a kid and Kiyoshi is crushing on more than the slopes...
----
* BrattyHalfPint: Nanami is a child kleptomaniac.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: Naoki is high up in the Salaryman career, and he's obsessed with money and modernization. This puts him at odds with the Nishidake family, who prefer the natural beauty of Mt. Komorebi.
* DatingWhatDaddyHates: Kiyoshi's love interest is Kaori Nishidake, the granddaughter of Naoki's greatest enemy.
* DoesntKnowTheirOwnChild: Megumi and Naoki both have shades of this — they want their children to be successful athletes like they were, but fail to realize that Kiyoshi is more concerned about his budding relationship with Kaori Nishidake than ski practice, and little Nanami just wants to be a normal kid.
* HighSchoolSweethearts: Megumi's ex-boyfriend Kado Akiyama recently moved back to Mt. Komorebi, and Megumi's description implies she's still interested in him even after they've both married other people.
* LikeFatherLikeSon: Like both of his parents, Kiyoshi has the Extreme Sports Enthusiast aspiration and the High Metabolism trait.
* StageMom: Megumi is the skiing version of this.
* SympatheticAdulterer: Megumi is still interested in her high school sweetheart Kado Akiyama despite the fact that they're both married. However, Megumi's husband Naoki is a CorruptCorporateExecutive who has the Mean and Materialistic traits, making her seem somewhat sympathetic even if she does "get distracted" by Kado.

!!The Akiyama family
The Akiyamas moved away from the hustle and bustle of the city to the quiet town where Kado was raised. The commute will be a sacrifice, but Kado and Jenna hope the close-knit community and beautiful natural atmosphere of the region will be worth it. Kado was surprised at the recent news that his childhood sweetheart Megumi Ito has also moved back to Mt. Komorebi. He’d love nothing more to leave the past in the past but the pieces of his broken teenaged heart are still tender.
----
* CheerfulChild: Miki.
* FishOutOfWater: Jenna is a newcomer to Mt. Komorebi. However, she does have the Active and Loves Outdoors traits, so she fits in rather well.
* HighSchoolSweethearts: Kado and Megumi used to be this, but they've both moved on and married other people. Megumi's description indicates she'd be somewhat open to pursuing an affair with Kado, while Kado's description indicates he's still heartbroken from their initial breakup.

!!The Nishidake family
Rumor says the Nishidake family are sacred guardians of Mt. Komorebi. Indeed, Shigeru fumes over the Ito family’s local development plans. Sachiko, however, feels warmly toward Megumi due to an old friendship with the young woman’s mom. Plus, she knows what’s in her granddaughter’s heart… Kaori moved to Mt. Komorebi after losing her parents. She soon discovered two loves: the slopes, and the son of her grandfather’s sworn enemy! If she had one wish, she’d melt her grandfather’s hardened heart.
----
* AngstWhatAngst: Because ''The Sims 4'' doesn't have the same memories system as ''The Sims 2'', nobody mourns Kaori's late parents. They don't have any graves or urns in the home, and they don't have visible avatars on Kaori's family tree, implying they were never actually made in-game to begin with.
* CoolOldLady: Sachiko Nishidake.
* DatingWhatDaddyHates: Kaori's boyfriend is Kiyoshi Ito, the son of her grandfather's enemy Naoki Ito.
* DyeHard: Kaori's hair is dyed blue, but her black roots are visible. Due to how hair works in ''The Sims 4,'' it will remain in that state forever unless the player decides to change it.
* GuestFighter: Kaori was originally a playable character from EA's ''VideoGame/{{SSX}}'' series of snowboarding games before she was introduced to ''The Sims''.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: Sachiko Nishidake and Megumi Ito get along even though their respective husbands can't stand each other. It doubles as OddCouple, since they don't seem to have very similar values.

[[folder: Henford-on-Bagley]]

!!The Crumplebottom family
Elderly relatives of the Goth family, Agnes and Agatha Crumplebottom run the garden shop in Henford-on-Bagley's town square. Agatha is a big flirt, in contrast to Agnes, who flies into a violent rage whenever the topic of romance is brought up.
----
* AdaptationalNiceGirl: In her original appearance in Hot Date, Agnes’ only role was to attack people who performed public displays of affection. In Cottage Living, while she is angry by default and does the same thing as in Hot Date, she does also run a shop, and can be interacted with like a normal Sim, with it even being possible to legitimately become friends with her.
* CanonForeigner: Agatha is a new addition to the Crumplebottom family, described as being a cousin to Agnes (presumably through Simon Crumplebottom).
* CanonWelding: Agnes has different deceased husbands in ''The Sims'' and ''The Sims 3'', Robert Crumplebottom and Erik Darling, respectively. ''The Sims 4'' consolidates this by mentioning that she's been in relationships with both of them.
* HandbagOfHurt: Agnes’ trademark is using one in response to public displays of affection. She even provides the page image.
* WhenEldersAttack: If a Sim acts romantically near (or towards) Agnes, she will beat them with her purse.

[[folder: Moonwood Mill]]

!! Volkov Household
Kristopher Volkov has been around longer than most can remember. He founded and leads the Moonwood Collective, and is eager to take in any werewolf feeling displaced or lost. Lily joined the household long ago, a lonely wanderer who had lost her closest friends to the vampires. After her came Rory, then Jacob. Though Rory's relationship with her adoptive father has soured, Jacob and Kristopher's connection has flourished. Both bear the same calm yet intense soul, and everyone in Moonwood Mill knows Kristopher intends for Jacob to be the heir to his pack.
----
* AmbiguouslyRelated: Lily Zhu is the cousin of Caleb and Lilith Vatore, though there's no way to know this outside of talking to her as the game doesn't track cousins.

!! Lou Howell
Shortly after Lou's arrival in Moonwood Mill, he tried to impress his date Celene by taunting the town's notoriously feral werewolf, Greg. His poor decision led to painful consequences for both him and Celene, but while she sought a remedy, Lou figured he could just ride this one out... which didn't turn out as anticipated. Will this master of mischief learn to love his new inner wolf or will he try and find a way out of the mess he's found himself in?
----
* BullyingADragon: The reason he became a werewolf. It’s never a good idea to taunt a feral werewolf.

!! Celene López
Ever since she was a little girl, Celene has been fascinated by romanticized tales of lycanthropy. However, she got more than she bargained for while on a midnight date in the woods. Thankfully, she discovered an antidote which prevented her transformation. She's more cautious now, but her position as the local barkeep gives her a front row view to the wondrous world of werewolves without the risk of injury.
----
* TokenHuman: She is the only premade regular Sim in Moonwood Mill.

!! Wolfgang Wilder
Wolfgang has lived in Moonwood Mill for decades, where he's been documenting the history of werewolves and trying to give them a brighter future. A famous author who specializes in werewolf "fiction," his books have introduced the idea of the “friendly neighborhood werewolf” into popular culture. Because he uses a pen name, nobody realizes he himself is actually the very thing he champions.

!! Harjo Family
Brought together by their mutual obsession over food, Ava and Lucha fell in love. Ava was recently hired at the High School to work in the cafeteria, and with her expert cooking skills, the food has never been better! Lucha, still learning some chops, was promoted to Head Dishwasher and couldn't be happier. Ash has decided to fully commit to a life of fashion, diving into the Simfluencer lifestyle and spending loads of their time on Trendi. Noah, a bit of a prankster, spends his time training for football and daydreaming about his secret crush, Sidney Price. With teens to raise and recipes to create, the Harjos are in for some wild adventures.
-----
* AmbiguousGenderIdentity: In-game, Ash uses they/them pronouns. They have a masculine frame with a feminine clothing preference, cannot get pregnant or get others pregnant, can use the toilet standing. They also have a transgender flag in their room.

!! Prescott Family
Passed down through generations, this historic estate is home to the Prescott Family. Mei Prescott, Copperdale's High School Principal, lives here with her two daughters and her father, Tai Lum. After her husband's passing, Mei put all her efforts into protecting her girls and showering them with affection. Often times to an embarrassing degree. Molly is a star student with a secret passion for music. Taking a page from her troublemaker little sister Amy, she's learning to embrace her more rebellious side. Tai enjoys time with his grandchildren, especially the extra moments he has with Molly when working at the school as a janitor. Together, the family proudly carries on the legacy of the Prescott name.

!! Price Household
High school sweethearts and Copperdale alumni Janae and Marcel Price have returned, moving back into their old neighborhood with their three children: Sidney, Savannah, and Jayden. They also welcomed Kevin, a foreign exchange student, into their lively home. It's a busy household, stirring with activity and thriving pursuits. While Marcel works on his latest novel, Janae works full-time as a successful Regional Manager. The twins, Savannah and Sidney, each enjoy their own interests while trying to keep up good grades. Jayden looks up to his siblings a lot, and can't wait to be just like them, his buddy Kevin included. Life can certainly get away from them, but they know they can always depend on one another.
