!First Colony Apostles

[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:The Entire Group]]
Overall:
* FireForgedFriends: The long and painful journey they go on together is what bonds them and causes them to remain loyal to each other.
* TrueCompanions: Sara comes to realize that they've been bonded by their experiences, and are a family in the spiritual (and for some biological) sense of the word.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Peter]]
!!Lt. Peter Jaxon

The youngest Jaxon boy and a member of the First Colony, Peter is a good-hearted young man who has lived in his older brother's shadow all his life. He becomes the unofficial leader of the First Colony Apostles after Amy approaches the Colony, changing the lives of everyone.
----
%%* AdmiringTheAbomination
* AllLovingHero: Despite his willingness to kill and the frustration he often feels, Peter doesn't want to kill anyone and does his best to get along with people.
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: By the time of the events of ''The Twelve'', Peter has become a pretty high-ranking and well-known soldier of the Expeditionary.
* BashBrothers: Gradually, he becomes this with Hollis Wilson.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: It might be easy to mistake him as just a NiceGuy, but it doesn't pay to piss him off.
* BloodKnight: Peter is increasingly taking pleasure in battle, particular getting a real charge out of fighting a Viral one-on-one at Tifty's place.
* CelibateHero: Despite some UnresolvedSexualTension with Alicia and Sarah's temporary unrequited love for him, Peter doesn't have much going in the way of sexual conquest.
* TheChampion: For Amy, whom he has UndyingLoyalty to.
* TheDeterminator: He walked across a vampire-ridden America to reach his end goal.
* TheDutifulSon: Not that Theo wasn't dutiful, but Peter was the one who took care of his dying mother.
* DoomedHometown: The Colony. It's on the precipice of doom due to the protective lights failing, which spurs Peter to leave with the other Apostles to find a solution.
* EveryoneCanSeeIt: The chemistry between Peter and Alicia is plain for everyone to see.
* FamedInStory: By the time of ''The Twelve'' he's become something of a legend for his 'long walk'.
* TheHero: Peter as a hero is played the straightest out of all the characters, most of whom are of the AntiHero flavour.
* HumbleHero: He's embarassed by hero-worshipping members of the Expeditionary who have heard about his 'long walk'.
* TheLeader: Of the First Colony Apostles, charismatic version.
* LikeFatherLikeSon: Like Demo, Peter longs to see the world outside the Colony and fight the Virals.
* MagneticHero: Just about everyone rallies behind him and selects him as the leader when the decision is made to leave the Colony.
* MilitaryMaverick: For Peter, following orders is just something that other people do. He frequently goes against orders to save his friends or do the right thing.
* NiceGuy: He's a genuinely good-hearted young man who's a little oblivious but considerate nonetheless.
* ObliviousToLove: Peter has absolutely no inkling that Sara Fisher is in love with him.
* TheUnfavourite: [[spoiler:Or so he thinks, due his misunderstanding of his mother's final words. He thinks she mistakes him for Theo, and is telling '''Theo''' to take care of '''his''' brother, meaning Peter. She was actually just mentioning Theo's name, instead of mistaking Peter for Theo.]]
* UnresolvedSexualTension: With Alicia Donadio.
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: The reason he's such a MilitaryMaverick.
* WellDoneSonGuy: He still has some unresolved feelings about his parents.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Theo]]
!!Theo Jaxon

Strong and silent, Theo is the well-respected brother of Peter. He's cynical and burdened following both a confession from Michael and the person he loves marrying someone else.
----
* AloofBigBrother: To Peter. Theo is known for being a more melancholy-type than Peter.
* ByronicHero: He's a hardened cynic carrying an immense burden, but he's determined and does try to do the right thing.
* CallingTheOldManOut: He goes on a bitter rant against his dead father, Demo Jaxon for his foolish 'long walks' and eventual suicide.
* TheCynic: Theo thinks it's 'pointless' trying to build an army to fight the Virals, and he thinks it's just as pointless to go on any 'Long Walks'. As far as he's concerned, there's nothing outside the Colony except for thousands of Virals and everything they do is just a prolonged distraction until the lights go out and humanity as a whole meets it's end.
* FightingFromTheInside: [[spoiler:While held prisoner in the Haven, Theo is constantly fighting against Babcock's mental manipulation.]]
%%* HeartbrokenBadass
* HeroicBSOD: After Michael confesses to Theo that the Colony's lights will eventually go out, dooming them all, Theo was stunned into depression. He began to see no point in doing anything, and just went through the motions.
* KnightInSourArmor: Theo will do the right thing, even if he doesn't think it matters in the long run.
* NotQuiteDead: [[spoiler:Theo is presumed dead by the Colony after he's 'taken up' and usually they'd be absolutely right to think so. Actually, he was just nabbed and imprisoned by the Haven.]]
* TheUnfavourite: His mother preferred Peter, but Theo never found out.
* SecretKeeper: For Michael, regarding the lights going out. He even enforces it, telling Michael to keep the secret between them so as not to send everyone into a panic over something that can't be changed.
* StarCrossedLovers: With Mausami.
* SuddenSequelDeathSyndrome: [[spoiler:Theo dies between books during the Roswell Massacre.]]
* TookALevelInKindness: [[spoiler:Theo mellows out a great deal following his ordeal at the Haven. He now gets to stay with Mausami and his baby on a farm, living a perfect life, and he's happy to know that even if it was the Haven, there are more people surviving than just the Colony.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Alicia]]
!!Alicia "Lish" Donadio/Alicia of Blades/The New Thing

An orphan of Dark Night, Alicia was adopted by the mysterious 'Colonel' at a young age. Impulsive and reckless, she's nevertheless a good person at heart with a soft spot for Peter.
----
%%* ActionGirl
* [[BigBrotherInstinct Big Sister Instinct]]: Towards Caleb, who's an orphan of Dark Night like her.
* BloodKnight: Alicia loves killing Virals.
%%* BoisterousBruiser
* BrokenBird: Due to her status as an orphan of Dark Night and a tough upbringing, but especially following [[spoiler:her rape in the Homeland.]]
%%* {{Determinator}}
%%* DrivesLikeCrazy
%%* EveryoneCanSeeIt
* FearlessFool: Alicia is both completely fearless and utterly reckless, and more than once she ends up in a very dangerous situation because of her inability to consider the options before making a choice.
%%* FieryRedhead
* HotBlooded: Part of what makes her a FieryRedhead is how driven she is by her emotions and sense of right and wrong. It doesn't take much to get Alicia arguing, and for that reason she finds it hard to get along with some of the other Apostles like Theo or Sara.
%%* JerkWithAHeartOfGold
%%* JumpedAtTheCall
%%* TheLadette
* TheLancer: To Peter, for a while.
* MilitaryBrat: She was raised by 'the Colonel' who is later revealed to be [[spoiler:a legendary heroic military figure in Texas.]]
* RapeAsDrama: [[spoiler:While imprisoned at the Homeland, she's raped multiple times by Sod.]]
%%* RebelliousSpirit
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Against the Homeland after [[spoiler:being raped there. After escaping from Sod, Alicia slaughters everyone unfortunate enough to be in her way with no mercy or hesitation.]]
* VegetarianVampire: [[spoiler:After receiving a vile of Amy's blood.]]
* TrainingFromHell: What the Colonel put her through when he was raising her. [[spoiler:At one point, he left a young Alicia outside the Walls all night without a weapon.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Michael]]
!!Michael Fisher/Circuit/Lugnut

An intelligent and talented technician, Michael is the first to realize the Colony lights will eventually fail. He decodes the radio message from Colorado, thus beginning the long journey to find the source.
----
%%* AdmiringTheAbomination
* BelligerentSexualTension: With Alicia, a little. More pronounced on his end; in his private thoughts, he considers her 'striking'.
%%* DeadpanSnarker
%%* InsufferableGenius
* IronButtMonkey: If someone's going to be non-fatally but painfully injured, it's probably going to be Michael...but he'll survive.
* MrFixit: With regard to everything. [[spoiler:Billie and Gus even kidnap him so he can fix the train at the Haven, which he does in a few hours despite Gus having been working on it for years.]]
* OnlySaneMan: He tends to be the one to point out the utter insanity of the world around him.
* SecretKeeper: Michael is one of very few people who know that the lights in the Colony ''will'' go out, and they can't be fixed.
* TheSmartGuy: Of whatever team he's part of at the time. Michael is highly intelligent and is able to put his hand to just about anything.
* TechnoWizard: Michael is a very smart guy who learns quickly. He's able to work with computers, cars, drilling machinery, boats...if it's a machine or has mechanical parts, chances are he'll figure it out very quickly.
* TookALevelInBadass: A major part of his CharacterDevelopment. Over the course of the journey, Michael puts on muscle and becomes more confident in himself. [[spoiler:Eventually, he's even able to kill Virals.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Sara]]
!!Sara Fisher

Michael's older sister, Sara is a kind-hearted nurse with a secret love for Peter. She joins the Colony Apostles.
----
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: She was in love with Peter, who is naturally ObliviousToLove. She eventually moves past this.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Much is made of the Fisher blonde hair, and Sara is one of the more unambiguously good characters.
* HospitalHottie: Hollis certainly thinks so. So does [[spoiler:Sod, unfortunately.]]
* PairTheSpares: Although Sara was in love with Peter, she gradually moves past this as her friendship with Hollis deepens and they eventually get together.
* TheMedic: Her role both within the Colony and within the Apostles.
* TheMole: [[spoiler:For the Insurgency/Sergio, in the Homeland, where she poses as one of Lila's maids.]]
* NotQuiteDead: [[spoiler:Twice. She's first believed to be dead when she was actually just taken by the Haven, and a repeat of this incident happens on a larger scale with the Homeland. She's believed to have died in the Roswell Massacare ('taken up') but has actually been living in the Homeland as a 'flat-lander'.]]
* TheRival: To Alicia, although it isn't touched on much. Their rivalry stems from a somewhat muted competition over Peter and the basic clash of their personalities.
* TookALevelInBadass: She had no previous fighting experience, but Sara learns to get by through sheer courage and quick wit [[spoiler:especially in the Homeland where she learns to dodge death at every turn.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Hollis]]
!!Hollis Wilson

One of the Wilson Twins, Hollis is a competent and level-headed fighter who leaves with the Apostles.
----
* AngstySurvivingTwin: He's understandably devastated by [[spoiler:his twin Arlo's death, leading him to grow a BeardOfSorrow.]]
* HeartbrokenBadass: When [[spoiler:it seems that Sara was killed, Hollis is utterly destroyed and ends up becoming a low-level criminal.]]
* BashBrothers: At various times, with Arlo (a literal example) and Peter.
* BeardOfSorrow: Grows one after [[spoiler:Arlo's death. Sara theorizes he grows out his beard because so that he looks more like Arlo.]]
* TheLancer: To Peter.
* PairTheSpares: Although Sara was in love with Peter, she gradually moves past this as her friendship with Hollis deepens and they eventually get together.
* TheStoic: Not much phases him.
* NotSoStoic: But when something does phase him, he takes it hard.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mausami]]
!!Mausami "Maus" Patal

The daughter of Sanjay Patal, she's in love with Theo but still marries someone else in an unwise attempt to spurn him into action. She later becomes pregnant with his child. Following Amy's arrival at the Colony and the subsequent revelations, she joins the First Colony Apostles.
----
* PregnantBadass: She's pregnant, but she was a member of the Watch and is an able fighter.
* SuddenSequelDeathSyndrome: [[spoiler:She dies during the Roswell Massacare between books.]]
* MadScientistsBeautifulDaughter: In a way. Her father, Sanjay, isn't a scientist or much of a villain, but he's certainly antagonistic toward Peter and absolutely hates Theo.
* TheLoad: Mausami doesn't do a whole lot aside from slow the Apostles down.
* StarCrossedLovers: With Theo.
* SympatheticAdulterer: Her affair with Theo is treated as this.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Caleb]]
!!Caleb "Hightop" Jones

A teenage orphan in the Colony. Like Alicia, his parents were killed during 'Dark Night' and so she feels a special connection to him. After Amy arrives at the Colony, he's blamed for letting her through the gate and is turned into a scapegoat by the Colony citizens. He later joins the First Colony Apostles.
----
* ButtMonkey: It's rare that something goes right for him. When he's introduced, he's been trapped on a tower surrounded by Virals, and from there on his luck doesn't improve much despite his 'lucky sneakers'.
* DeathOfAChild: [[spoiler:Caleb is murdered by Jude Cripp, who had stowed away in the train from Haven.]]
* TheDitz: Caleb isn't stupid, but he's slow to put things together and tends to be oblivious to events around him.
* TheExile: After Caleb is blamed for letting in a Viral and thus getting Teacher killed, the general consensus is that he should be 'put out' of the Colony, dooming him to certain death.
* KillTheCutie: [[spoiler:He's the least angsty, most optimistic member of the group...and he dies.]]
* MoralityPet: For Alicia, who feels a kinship with Caleb because they are both orphans of 'Dark Night'. She's very protective of him and [[spoiler:loses it when he's killed.]]
* RunningGag: His continued quest for shoes, which rarely fit him. He settles on some 'lucky sneakers' he finds, so named because he 'hasn't died once since putting them on'.
* SkilledButNaive: Caleb is pretty naive and doesn't think things through, but as a look-out he's unparalled.
* SomeoneToRememberHimBy: [[spoiler:Theo and Mausami name their son after him.]]
* TagalongKid: He's the youngest of the Apostles.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Greer]]
!!Maj. Lucius Greer

An efficient and good-hearted major within the Army of the Republic of Texas. He's close friends with General Vorhees and quickly forms a friendship with Peter.
----
* TheChampion: Greer eventually becomes one for [[spoiler:Amy, after she breaks him out of prison.]]
* DelicateAndSickly: You wouldn't think it to look at him, but Greer was a sickly child who nobody expected to survive to adulthood, much less become so physically fit.
* AFatherToHisMen: Greer genuinely cares about the men under his command, treating [[spoiler:an infected Muncey with respect and kindness.]]
* FieldPromotion: Greer ends up being in charge after [[spoiler:Vorhees is killed.]]
* KnightTemplar: Like the rest of the Expeditionary, Greer is dedicated to the life he's chosen. He becomes a different kind of KnightTemplar when [[spoiler:he begins working for God and Amy.]]
* MajorlyAwesome: He's a Major, and one of the most likable and competent members of the Expeditionary.
* NumberTwo: To Vorhees [[spoiler:until his death.]]
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: When he captures the other Apostles, he's very calm and reasonable.
* ReligiousBruiser: Following [[spoiler:his imprisonment]] Greer becomes a deeply religious man, claiming a personal relationship with God.
