!!Angora's Arc

[[folder: Angora]]

[[quoteright:241:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/download_35.png]]

Angora is a teenaged girl who, up until recently, had been living in a commune in the jungle. When her “grandfather” sends her into civilization, Angora is forced to grow up a little faster than she had expected.

* ActionGirl: Swiftly becoming one, as she becomes more and more in control of her powers.
* AgeInappropriateDress: Or lack thereof as the case may be. Even though Angora is 15 years old she is nude in the first chapter of the comic and remains topless for the rest of her appearances after chapter 1.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: She's quickly accumulating an AssholeVictim count.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Angora, though it's not natural.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: She may be a variation on a JunglePrincess.
* GenkiGirl: Perpetually energetic.
* GreenThumb: Angora's powers, which most likely explains the hair (it's moss).
* FireForgedFriends: Her and Pinter.
* TheHero: Of her own arc, and possibly the whole story.
* IdenticalStranger: WordOfGod is that Angora looks a lot like Phe when she was younger. [[ChekhovsGun Naturally, fans expect this to come up when she eventually meets Luca]].
* InnocentFanserviceGirl: Currently the page picture. Also played with, as the artist has specifically mentioned that she intends for her clothing to be an allegory of her losing her innocence in the bleak outside world. She also apparently never quite gets a nudity taboo -- at the end of the first chapter she gets a pair of shorts, a neck covering and nothing else - which, coincidentally, is what most of the characters are initially shown wearing.
* LittleMissBadass: She can outrun you, out-climb you, and wallop you with a tree. You'd better believe she's a badass.
* NakedOnArrival: ...and doesn't stop at arrival.
* NatureHero: Nature is her weapon as well as her environment.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: Much to Pinter's annoyance.
* NoSocialSkills: At least not with anyone outside the monastery. In a {{Flashback}} sequence it's shown that she used to have a normal friendship with another girl her age, with whom she gossiped about a mysterious injured patient. [[spoiler: It was Pinter.]] How she went from this to her current state of social ineptitude, we don't yet know.
* NubileSavage: Partially subverted with Angora, but not completely. She's commendably realistically drawn, without the usual hypersexualized figure of female comic protagonists, but she still manages to stray the closest to the modern standard for female beauty of anyone in the comic.
* PowerIncontinence: It's shown that her powers sometimes work while she's sleeping without her willing them to.
* SkilledButNaive: She's pretty good at surviving in the jungle, but is very inexperienced when it comes to dealing with actual people.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: In the first arc. According to Kiz, she's the only woman around for miles, which unfortunately makes her a target for the less scrupulous men who haven't seen a woman in months.
* TraumaCongaLine: She loses her grandfather, gets chased through the jungle by would-be rapists (though she didn't understand what their intentions were), gets insulted by a rude drunk she needs help from (who ends up teaming up with her later), gets threatened by the rapists ''again,'' and then a crazy fanatic gives her the SadisticChoice of either being booted out of a travel group to die in the jungle or being stabbed to death with a spear. [[spoiler: Angora makes it through all of it ''mostly'' unscathed, but...wow.]]
** Bonus. At the end of chapter four, [[spoiler: Pinter, her only companion and friend (at the moment), passes out from an injury he got while defending her from Tanome.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Pinter deJersi]]
[[quoteright:275:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/download_47.png]]

A mapmaker and Angora's reluctant travelling companion.

* AccidentalPervert: He's mistaken for having a sexual relationship with Angora, first by Kiz and then later by Etan. This is due to Angora's refusal to wear clothes plus her tendency to show up in his life uninvited.
* TheAlcoholic: His poison is moonshine, which Angora calls "Stupid stinky water."
* BadassNormal: Unlike Angora, he has no powers, but he has already punched a guy out, broken another guy's nose by headbutting him, [[spoiler: saved Angora from Tanome with quick thinking and action, and knocked Etan out cold by throwing a booze flask at him.]]
* BerserkButton: Don't touch his booze.
** Don't try to hurt Angora either. [[spoiler: Etan and Tanome learn this the hard way.]]
* BigBeautifulMan: [[WalkingShirtlessScene Shirtless most of the time.]] Is it a surprise he's a fan favourite?
* BigBrotherInstinct: Towards Angora. WordOfGod says that it comes naturally, since he has a bunch of younger sisters back home.
* BrilliantButLazy: He's a talented cartographer and survivalist but alcoholism, lack of purpose, and possibly memory problems as well have made him sluggish.
* DeadpanSnarker: Very much so. It's his way of coping with all the insanity.
* FireForgedFriends: Him and Angora seem to have become this by the end of chapter four.
* IneffectualLoner: At the start of the story he's living alone in a tent under a tree, with no social contact except occasional booze runs to the logging camp. Despite having a detailed map, he shows no interest in going anywhere (until he's dragged into a mission by Angora, that is). According to Kiz, he messed up an expedition, which is the reason why he's now lost in the jungle.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Possibly. He's grouchy and self-centered most of the time, but he has morals.
** Confirmed at the end of chapter four when he openly admits that the reason he came along on Angora's mission is because he's worried about her (and her unreliable powers) and wants to protect her. He also gives her some much-needed encouragement after [[spoiler: their traumatizing encounter with Etan and Tanome. He's also severely injured at the time and was likely trying to get his feelings out before fainting.]]
* NeverBareheaded: Always wears what WordOfGod describes as the equivalent of a Jewish yarmulke.
* NoSenseOfDirection: Somewhat problematic as he's also a mapmaker.
* OnlySaneMan: The odd man out in a storyline of brutish loggers, half-naked jungle girls with magic powers, and crazy spear-wielding fanatics.
* StoutStrength: [[http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lqfd3wEIEk1qcs797.jpg This image]] the author posted reveals that Pinter used to serve in the army, which explains why he's so skilled at defending himself despite being perpetually drunk/hungover and on the pudgy side.
* [[spoiler: TakingTheBullet: Well, more like taking the spear prongs. When Tanome tries to attack Angora, he jumps in front of her spear and uses his travelling pack to block it. This works to an extent, but he still gets stabbed and passes out from blood loss after he and Angora have escaped.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Mocheril]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/download_4_0.png]]

A gigantic salamander-like creature that lives in the deep southern jungle of Allodia. He is a friend and mentor to Angora, who refers to him as her grandfather.

* CainAndAbel: Possibly with the Dagre, who he refers to as his brother. All that's known is that they came to blows at some point.
* DaddyHadAGoodReasonForAbandoningYou: He left to stop Dagre. Angora hasn't seen him since. But he also gave instructions on where she needed to go, and suggests they will see each other again.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: Subverted, as he seems to be a good guy.
* GoodParents: Angora loves him very much, and is risking her life trying to be reunited with him.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Has a very long body similar to Easter dragons, but with features of a rare species of cave salamander.
* ParentalAbandonment: Pinter seems to think of it this way.
-->'''Pinter:''' Trust me, [[SarcasmMode nobody is more worried]] about your irresponsible missing Grandpa than I am.
* ParentalSubstitute: To Angora. There's no information whatsoever about her birth parents.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Kiz]]
[[quoteright:190:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/download_3_7.png]]

A logger and [[ArcVillain the main antagonist of chapter one.]]

* AllMenArePerverts: Subverted. He is. So are the other loggers. Pinter isn't, and calls him out on it.
-->'''Kiz:''' So tell me, is she as green below as she is on top?
--> '''Pinter:''' *disgusted* That's sick.
* AssholeVictim: [[spoiler: [[GroinAttack Angora took Pinter's advice on how to deal with him. With a huge tree branch. Ouch.]]]]
* AttemptedRape: Of Angora. It's thwarted because she outruns him and then Pinter punches him out.
* CrazyJealousGuy: He's convinced Pinter and Angora are sexually involved and tries to attack Pinter for it.
* DirtyCoward: He brings his friends with him to confront Pinter the morning after their fight.
* EntitledToHaveYou: Angora's the only physically mature female around for miles. After months of no contact with women, Kiz is ''determined'' to have her, and chases her relentlessly through the jungle and into the logging camp.
* EvilRedhead: Oh, yes. Doubles as FieryRedhead. He gets riled up easily.
* HandsomeLech: He's a conventionally handsome, well-muscled man, but that's all he has going for him.
* {{Jerkass}}: An all-around obnoxious bully and pervert. His two unnamed friends as well.
* SailorsPonytail: He's a logger and he likely wears it this way to keep it off his face while working, though he'd much rather be (literally) chasing girls.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: He's the reason Pinter and Angora meet in the first place, and [[spoiler: the reason they flee together from the area near the logging camp.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Etan]]
[[quoteright:178:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/download_781.png]]

A scholar that Angora and Pinter encounter on their travels.

* AffablyEvil: Sort of. He's polite to Pinter when they first meet, but he only tolerates Angora after Pinter convinces him that Angora has mental issues and that he's caring for her "out of charity." Before that, Etan was ready to have a go at her with his spear, and then ditch her and Pinter.
* AssholeVictim: [[spoiler: Pinter knocks him out cold by hurling a bottle of booze at him.]]
* EyesAlwaysShut
-->'''Pinter:''' How the hell can you see anything with your eyes shut like that?
* HolierThanThou: He, like his wife, is a religious fundamentalist fanatic.
* {{Jerkass}}: Him and his wife.
* MrExposition: Pinter and Angora, who have been isolated in the jungle for a while, find out about the Emperor's war on the Carissi people from him. He also provides information about a soon-to-be-relevant "sea devil," with whom Angora is apparently acquainted.
* UnholyMatrimony: He and Tanome make a pretty vicious and unlikable couple.
* NotNowKiddo: He calls Angora an "ignorant brat" when she corrects his description of a mythical creature she's met in person.
--> '''Etan:''' Little girls should not speak about things they don't understand.
* WouldHurtAChild: Was ready to impale Angora with a spear for being a "witch" (after witnessing her powers) despite the fact that she's a young girl.
* WickedCultured: A scholar, and an arrogant, self-righteous one too.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Tanome]]

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/download_1_76.png]]

Etan's wife, who is found injured by the travelling party.

* AssholeVictim: [[spoiler: She and Kiz are now both members of the "Nailed by Angora's branches" club.]]
* DarkActionGirl: She carries around a spear and it's implied she knows how to use it.
* {{Jerkass}}: She and Etan deserve each other. Special mention goes to her wanting to leave Angora to die in the jungle and trying to stop Pinter from giving her his map (so she could at least find her way out alive). What a cow.
-->'''Tanome:''' That's ''our'' map now, and I'll be the one making decisions for the group from now on.
* HolierThanThou: An even more violent and irrational example than her husband. She doesn't believe in any sort of healing other than faith and prayer, and was ready to outright ''murder'' Angora for being indecently dressed and for not wanting to be separated from Pinter.
* LightIsNotGood: A blonde, blue-eyed, religious woman...and pure evil.
* UngratefulBitch: Angora finds her severely injured in the forest and heals her. She receives no gratitude whatsoever.
* UnholyMatrimony: She seems to be the dominant one in a villainous pairing.
* WouldHurtAChild: She threatens Angora with her spear after Angora refuses to be forced out of the travelling group. [[spoiler: It doesn't end well for her.]]
[[/folder]]

!!Luca's Arc

[[folder: Luca deSadar]]
[[quoteright:254:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/download_2_1.png]]

Luca deSadar is the leader of the Pasori peoples, and the Emperor of the Northern Territories. Despite his stranglehold on the north, he finds himself losing his grip on his family, his people, and perhaps [[SanitySlippage his sanity.]]

* AntiVillain: The to-be main antagonist, and an oppressive dictator. He also happens to love his family, and to have the best interests of his people at heart (though that's [[KnightTemplar probably]] [[FantasticRacism not]] [[VisionaryVillain a good thing...]]).
* ArtificialLimbs: Luca's right leg is prosthetic below mid-knee; he's seen putting it on [[http://www.meekcomic.com/comic/2-01/ here]]. According to the wiki, it was amputated because of gangrene from a bullet wound.
* BigBeautifulMan: He's realistically shaped for a man of his age, but both his wife and fans don't mind at all.
* BigEater: Which the Wiki notes doesn't seem to have made him gain much weight.
* EloquentInMyNativeTongue: When he speaks in his native tongue, he uses contractions in that language and doesn't have any flubs like he does when speaking to Phe.
* TheEmperor: He is the ruler of the Northern Territories and has been growing more dictatorial after [[spoiler: the death of his wife]].
* FantasticRacism: He ''hates'' the Carissi.
** FreudianExcuse: His hatred happened to stem from his time under their imprisonment, which he lost his right leg from an untreated wound and use of certain fingers.
* GeneralRipper: When it comes to the Carissi, to the point that [[spoiler:his wife threatens to leave if he doesn't let go of his hatred]].
* HappilyMarried: To his wife, Phe, which is significant because public opinion on relationships between Pasori (Luca's ethnicity) and Santri (Phe's ethnicity) is generally [[MalignedMixedMarriage negative.]] They had to hide their marriage for a year.
* NotSoStoic: Even though Luca is mostly a PerpetualFrowner, a few things can get him to react quite emotionally. [[spoiler: Especially things that involve his wife]].
* PerpetualFrowner: For the most part, he "doesn't exactly have a wide range of expressions," says WordOfGod.
* PlayingWithFire: [[spoiler: He roasted one of the ambassadors' face with his hands. It seems to be more Playing With ''Heat'' specifically though, since you can see the heat distorting the light around him, but no actual flames.]]
* PoorCommunicationKills: His almost single-minded focus on {{Revenge}} causes Rana to believe he was the one that [[spoiler:killed Phe]], and his rather heartless dismissal of her right after telling her to prepare for her ArrangedMarriage [[spoiler:causes her to declare to her secret lover that [[WhamLine the emperor must die]] now that she firmly believes he'll try to use or kill her too.]] The problem is definitely there with his other children too, which severely harms Suda and Hyla's impressions of him.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: He's the manly guy while his friend Ulyer deRisma, who we meet in chapter five, is the sensitive guy.
* SpockSpeak: Doesn't use contractions when speaking. According to WordOfGod this is because Santri, the language he is speaking, is actually his third language. He also has a minor case of YouNoTakeCandle when he gets angry.
* ToothyIssue: His front teeth were knocked out at some point, and he wears dentures to mask this fact.
* TragicBigot: Him and his people being horrifically tortured by the Carissi is what drives his hatred for them.
* VictoriousChildhoodFriend: WordOfGod says he and Phe are this, and that they didn't always get along.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Luca has the sort of good intentions that pave roads to hell. He wants to protect his people and family from the horrors he experiences at the hands of the Carissi... and is on the edge of starting a possibly genocidal war to do so.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Phe deSadar]]

Luca's wife and empress, and the mother of his three children.

[[quoteright:335:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/download_1_14.png]]

* DeadpanSnarker: She frequently has a snarky response to events, including catching ambassadors making a diplomatic faux pas.
* [[spoiler: DeceasedParentsAreTheBest: Her three children really miss her, especially now that their war-waging father has no time for them.]]
* [[spoiler: FamilyUnfriendlyDeath]]: [[spoiler:Her actual death occurs mostly offscreen, but we're treated to the horrifically distressing shots of both body twisted at the end of its death throes and a physician cutting open her throat to see if she choked or was poisoned.]]
* HappilyMarried: To Luca.
* HartmanHips: Phe is an attractive older woman with wide hips.
* HotConsort: To Luca.
* [[spoiler: KilledOffForReal: Horrifically.]]
* MoralityChain: For Luca. "I hope you know I will only do this things for you." [[spoiler:Now that she's dead, things are bound to get worse.]]
* TinyGuyHugeGirl: She's noticeably taller than her husband.
* [[spoiler: TheLostLenore: By chapter five, she has become this for Luca.]]
* VictoriousChildhoodFriend: WordOfGod says her and Luca are this.
* WomenAreWiser: While Luca has a massive blind spot about the Carisi and is blinded by his rage for them, Phe lacks can see the picture more clearly, including that Caris no longer poses a threat and that peace is the only way that both countries can heal their past wounds.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Ambassador Lethy Aray]]

[[quoteright:203:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/download_1_764.png]]

* AllTakeAndNoGive: According to her, this is basically the political stance of the Carissi people. They want peace, and for Luca's soldiers to leave Pasori-occupied territory that used to be theirs, but they're not willing to offer any retributions for the war their former monarch caused. Naturally, Luca doesn't accept this.
* {{Bifauxnen}}: Her haircut and style of dress are more androgynous than Tesa, who dresses in a more feminine manner.
* DumbBlonde: Inverted. She's a far more intelligent and competent ambassador than Tesa. [[spoiler: She still fails at her mission, though.]]
* FatAndSkinny: Her and Tesa.
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: She has to calm a hysterical Tesa down while they're being held prisoner [[spoiler: as the investigation into Phe's murder goes on.]] She stays impressively calm.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: [[spoiler: The spectacular failure of her and Tesa's peace negotiations as well as Phe's untimely death (which they're blamed for) sparks a war.]]
* [[spoiler: WhatHappenedToTheMouse: We don't see what happens to her after Luca kills her partner. He wanted her to send a message to her queen, so it's likely she was either sent back home with a warning, or she sent it from a cell in which she's currently being held as a prisoner/hostage. Or she could be dead.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Ambassador Tesa Alovan]]
[[quoteright:186:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/download_352.png]]

* AssInAmbassador: Her lack of discretion bites her in the ass when [[ExactEavesdropping Phe overhears her insults Luca and his people.]]
* [[spoiler: AssholeVictim: She wasn't a good person. However, the way Luca kills her is [[DisproportionateRetribution needlessly brutal and cruel.]] He doesn't even have any real proof that she helped murder Phe.]]
* BigBeautifulWoman: She has a very pretty face. [[spoiler: Until Luca burns it, that is.]]
* BitchInSheepsClothing: In public, her manners are courtly and impeccable. In private, she's an obnoxious racist.
* DumbBlonde: Phe mentions that one of the Carissi ambassadors is the queen's cousin. It's probably her, since there is no other way she could have gotten such an important job. When she isn't glancing at the more competent Lethy for guidance, she's loudly and openly bad-mouthing the people they're supposed to be negotiating with.
* FantasticRacism: She calls the Pasori people "blood-drinking, cannibal lunatics." In their language. In a palace full of people who might be listening.
* FatAndSkinny: Her and Lethy.
* [[spoiler: KilledOffForReal: Luca kills her with his own hands. Literally.]]
* YourMakeupIsRunning: She cries her eyes out while she and Lethy and being held in a cell after [[spoiler: Phe's murder.]]
* SmallRoleBigImpact: [[spoiler: Her and Lethy are blamed for Phe's death and are scapegoats for what will be an international war.]]
* UpperClassTwit: Despite being a high-ranking Carissi noblewoman, she was definitely a poor choice for ambassador.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Rana deSadar]]
[[quoteright:222:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/download_355.png]]

Luca and Phe's oldest child and daughter.

* [[spoiler: ArrangedMarriage: Her father has betrothed her to the wealthy firearms manufacturer Ulyer deRisma, his old friend and ally. Needless to say, she is not happy with this plan, especially since she's in a SecretRelationship with a man closer to her own age.]]
* BigSisterInstinct: Along with Suda, she cares for her little sister, Hyla’s, welfare - [[spoiler: concerning about their mother’s recent death.]] Suda gives Hyla comfort and attention, while Rana is listening and watching behind their sister’s room. Both oldest siblings were at lost over breaking [[spoiler: Phe’s death]] to their younger sister.
* BrainyBrunette: She has common sense and political astuteness. And according to WordOfGod, she's better at her studies than Suda, though that doesn't stop her from playing hooky from her lessons with him every now and then.
* DeadpanSnarker: It's becoming her way of dealing with her family. She gets it from her Mom.
* CallingTheOldManOut: She chews out her father for ignoring his family's needs after [[spoiler:Phe's death]], particularly his lack of attention to her kid sister Hyla, who has been developing issues [[spoiler:every since their mother's death.]]
* [[{{SevenIsNana}} Eight Is Rana]]: In Basori. According to the wiki, she is named for her birthday (the eighth day of the eighth month).
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: The responsible to her brother Suda's foolish. While she's not ''completely'' responsible, she's much more interested in matters of state and politics than Suda, who tends to blow such matters off.
* HartmanHips: She inherited her mother's hips.
* RebelliousPrincess: She tends to defy the very traditional gender roles that her father expects. [[spoiler: And is secretly in a relationship with a man who apparently is part of a political rebellion against the Emperor, and is becoming part of it herself.]]
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The Tomboy to her younger sister Hyla's Girly Girl.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Suda deSadar]]

[[quoteright:239:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/download_1_62.png]]

Luca and Phe's middle child and only son. Despite having an older sister, Pasori law and culture makes him [[HeirClubForMen his father's heir.]]

* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: He tends to act in this manner to Rana.
* BigBrotherInstinct: He's the only one who gives Hyla the comfort and attention she needs while [[spoiler: she grieves for their dead mother.]] Everyone else just scolds her for misbehaving, including Rana [[spoiler: at least on the surface]].
* TheCharmer: He has an easygoing charisma that makes him well liked. Especially with the ladies, to the chagrin of Rana.
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: The foolish sibling between himself and Rana.
* InadequateInheritor: It's obvious that his father Luca sees him as this, and given Suda's disinterest in politics and other matters of state, Luca isn't completely without a point.
* NiceToTheWaiter: His most admirable trait is how nice and friendly he is with servants and commoners. They all love him. It's also worth noting how quickly and willingly he takes the blame when his father catches him chatting with guards on duty.
-->'''Luca:''' They were negligent. They will need to be disciplined.
-->'''Suda:''' But it was ''my'' fault!
* TokenGoodTeammate: Everyone else, including Rana ([[spoiler:on the surface, at least]]) seem okay with how Luca has run the country with an iron fist after [[spoiler:Phe's death]]. Suda is appalled by the things he's seen and believes his father is turning into a monster.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: The Dagre]]

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/download_3_0.png]]

A mysterious tiger-like creature with glowing white eyes. He is Luca's confidant.

* CatsAreMean: Or at least really freaky.
* GigglingVillain: In the most unsettling manner possible.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: According to Der-Shing, he technically has ''no eyes,'' but he still has this appearance.
* KnightTemplar[=/=]TheSocialDarwinist: Commiting genocide on an ethnicity seems his primary motivation. [[spoiler:Though if what Mocheril says it true, that's just the first step is getting humanity to destroy itself.]]
* LightIsNotGood: Has blinding white lights instead of eyes, is (probably) a NatureSpirit, and has the same name as the Norse god of daylight. Yet, he is both creepy and genocidal.
* PaintingTheMedium[=/=]VerbalTic: Dagre's speech bubbles are sort of shaky, and he has a u nique man ner of speech in which each and eve ry sy la ble is pro nounced dis tinct ly.
* PantheraAwesome: The author draws him spectacularly.
* SpiritAdvisor: Doubles as TreacherousAdvisor. [[EvilChancellor Of the malicious variety.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Hyla deSadar]]

[[quoteright:225:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/download_2_6.png]]

Luca and Phe's youngest daughter and child.

* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: To Rana, but not to Suda.
* BrattyHalfPint: She's constantly breaking out of her room at night and disappearing. Her older sister Rana and the servants are exasperated. She's acting out because she [[spoiler: misses her dead mother and is being ignored because her father's war campaign is taking up everyone's time and attention. It's pretty realistic (and not to mention understandable) for a young child to behave this way under such circumstances.]]
* ChildrenAreInnocent: Her country's about to go to war and all she wants is for someone to play with her/pay attention to her.
* DaddysGirl: She's ''very'' excited to see her Dad when he comes home. Unfortunately, Luca's sunken so deep into his RoaringRampageOfRevenge that his treatment towards her can be described as lukewarm as best. It's [[TearJerker heart-wrenching]] and Rana angrily confronts him about it.
* FreakOut: [[spoiler: She's traumatized by her mother's death]] and has one when Luca doesn't come home at the same time as Suda.
--> '''Hyla:''' HE'S DEAD! DEAD! DEAD! DEAD! [[BrokenRecord DEAD! DEAD! DEAD!]]
* TheUnfavourite: Subverted. Luca doesn't hate her, but he's paying the least attention to her since, unlike Sudu, she's not his heir, and, unlike Rana, [[spoiler: she's not yet old enough to be married off to an ally.]]
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: Luca's youngest child, and the youngest member of the main cast.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The Girly Girl to Rana's Tomboy.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Ulyer deRisma]]

The Pasori owner of Vzala Ar/Red Bear Firearms and Luca's close friend.

[[quoteright:182:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/download_49.png]]

* [[spoiler: ArrangedMarriage: Luca wants him marry his teenage daughter Rana. WordOfGod says he's not keen on the idea.]]
* CharlieBrownBaldness: The combover's not fooling anyone.
* ParentalSubstitute: He's Hyla's godfather, and from the way he protectively puts his arms around her while Luca's yelling and she's upset, it's very possible that he might become this for her.
* SelfMadeMan: According to the Meekipedia, he took over a failing arms manufacturing plant and made it successful. He's now one of the richest Pasori citizens.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: His quiet, calm, cautious manner (not to mention his politeness) directly contrasts Luca's bad temper, increasing impulsiveness, and general harsh bluntness.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: He and [[spoiler: the now deceased Phe]] disliked each other immensely, and only tolerated each other's company for Luca's sake.

Soli Areni has got a job to do, and that job is to kill her ex-boyfriend. With help from her talented 12-year-old sidekick, she might be able to gather enough resources to find the bastard and finish him off once and for all.

* BookDumb: She still seems to be in the process of learning how to read and write. From Alamand. Naturally, her spelling and grammar have a long way to go.
* CoolBigSis: There's some evidence that Alamand looks up to her this way, though the feeling's not exactly mutual.
* DarkActionGirl: At the moment she's a criminal with murky morals, but she may upgrade to heroic ActionGirl later in the story.
* FacialMarkings: Her teardrop tattoo. [[{{WhatDoYouMeanItsNotSymbolic}} Hmm.]]
* GunsAkimbo: She's always prepared for a fight.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Alamand. Doubles as PlatonicLifePartners.
* {{Jerkass}}: Soli can be pretty pushy, disrespectful, and quick to draw out a gun if someone pisses her off the wrong way. Not to mention that she's on a quest to kill her ex-boyfriend for as-of-yet unrevealed reasons.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: And yet refuses to kill Amen and the old man, so she at least has limits.
* {{Sarashi}}: "Cheaper than a brassiere!"
* SmokingIsCool: She especially likes to light one up after evading danger.
* ViewerGenderConfusion: InUniverse: Most strangers would mistake her for a man... in fact most fans would as well.
* WomanScorned: She's hunting down her ex-boyfriend, with Alamand's help.

Soli's young partner in crime.

* BrattyHalfPint: Though competent enough in his own right.
* CircusBrat: WordOfGod says he used to be in the circus. How he got there and why he left to team up with Soli, we don't yet know.
* DeadpanSnarker: With Soli being his favorite target.
* EnfantTerrible: Has no problem with killing witnesses who could rat out him and Soli. [[spoiler: Soli does, and it screws them over later.]]
* FiveFingerDiscount: Said on the Meekipedia to be a pickpocket.
* {{Keet}}: Though a more cynical example.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: He's twelve, and Soli is in her thirties, according to WordOfGod.
* KidSidekick: To Soli.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Soli, though he likes to joke that it's not.
--> '''Alamand:''' [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments We're getting married, you know!]]
* TheCuckoolanderWasRight: He gives Soli a hard time for allowing Amen to see her face. Considering that she has an easily recognizable/identifiable tattoo under her eye, he's absolutely in the right. [[spoiler: Soli doesn't take his advice to kill Amen, and she's caught by him at the end of the chapter.]]
--> '''Alamand:''' This is why smart people don't get giant obvious tattoos on their '''DUMB FACE!'''

An officer serving in the Royal Police.

* ByTheBookCop: He's especially not happy when an overly eager young officer under his command disobeys his orders and goes after Alamand on his own.
* [[spoiler:ChekhovsGunman: He shows up at the end and presumably takes an unconscious Soli into custody.]]
* HeroAntagonist: He's hunting down Soli and Alamand, a pair of armed and dangerous criminals.
* MeaningfulName: Well, yeah.
* MrFanservice: His conventionally handsome looks have gone over well with fans. [[GoodLookingPrivates It may be the uniform too.]]
* RealMenLoveJesus: Well, whatever is the local stand-in. Or at least he appears. He's "from a fairly religious background".
