[[folder:Link]]
!!Link/Green Link

The main character and hero of the game. The catch is that you play as four Links in these games, but his/their destiny is the same as always. With the Four Sword/s in hand/s, he/they set out to SaveThePrincess and defeat the evil double.
----
* AlwaysSaveTheGirl: Princess Zelda of course.
* BackToBackBadasses: When he fights alongside the other three Links.
* BashBrothers: Sometimes with the other Links, [[spoiler:Shadow Link/s]].
* TheChosenZero: In the manga, the other Links constantly challenge his right to be the leader.
%%* TheDeterminator
%%* EleventhHourSuperpower: The Four Sword.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: In the manga, he easily defeats a bunch of thieves on his own, before the Knights even arrive.
* FourPhilosophyEnsemble: The Cynic.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: '''(Sanguine)'''; according to Vio, Green is very focused, motivated, and almost equally as stubborn as Blue (albeit a bit nicer than him). His personality is supposed to be similar to the original Link's. He's courageous and determined, but can be prone to acting rash. He can be anxious and headstrong while Blue can be extremely arrogant and short-tempered, which leads to arguments between the two. He nonetheless attains the role of leader (since he's wearing green) throughout the adventure and is very driven in rescuing Zelda from the clutches of evil.
%%* ImplausibleFencingPowers
* InformedFlaw: In the manga, Vio Link identifies him as the aggressive side of the original Link at the beginning; in truth, he is far less aggressive than Blue, and seems to be the closest one to the original Link in personality.
* IWorkAlone: Deconstructed in the Manga; at the beginning of the story, it's made clear Link is extremely competent when it comes to protecting Hyrule, but also has a strong tendency to work alone, disregarding the troubles he causes to his father, who leads the Knights of Hyrule. When the Four Sword divides him into four separate Links, each one representing a specific side of his personality, it turns out the ''one'' part of him they all share precisely is his stubbornness. Cue the four of them ''[[TeethClenchedTeamwork struggling]]'' to learn how to work together.
%%* TheKirk
%%* MesACrowd
* TheSouthpaw: In the manga, he is explicitly referred to as "the Left-Handed Hero".
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: In the manga with the other Links. At first.

[[folder:Zelda]]
!!Zelda

Princess Zelda is Link's love interest, and BarrierMaiden of the Kingdom of Hyrule. She also serves as the emotional support and inspiration for the Links.
----
* DarkIsNotEvil: Her talks with [[spoiler:Shadow Link]] in the manga. She said that darkness doesn't have to be bad.
* DamselInDistress: Kidnapped before the end of the opening cinematic! That's got to be a record.
* DamselOutOfDistress: Even in captivity, she's no NeutralFemale, and is a vital part of the final battle and defeating Shadow Link.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: IncorruptiblePurePureness, associated with light, kindhearted, and serves as TheHeart for the party. Oh, and she's blonde.
%%* TheHeart
%%* GuestStarPartyMember: For the FinalBattle.
%%* IncorruptiblePurePureness
* LightEmUp: In the form of an EnergyBall.
* LightIsGood: The IncorruptiblePurePureness princess is also associated with light.
%%* MacGuffinGirl

[[folder:Red Link]]
!!Red Link

Created by the powers of the Four Sword. In the manga, Red is the childlike innocent member of the group.
----
%%* {{Adorkable}}
* ButtMonkey: Blue frequently bullies him, typically by hitting his head with a hammer.
* FourPhilosophyEnsemble: The Realist
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: '''(Choleric)'''; he's the compassionate, optimistic, and childish Link who is usually meddling with Blue in terms of comic relief. He's shown to be very cheerful, excitable, and highly emotional. Although he can be somewhat as stubborn as the other three, he's clearly the nicest out of the four Links and usually likes to look on the bright side of things. He hates seeing the other Links fight each other and will usually speak out and try to act as the mediator, though he ends up dealing with Blue, who tends to bully him around. One clear trait of his is that he's very dependent on the other three and doesn't do too well by himself. He can easily end up feeling depressed and unsure of himself when hes all alone. He's a warm and considerate person who's a perfect foil for Blue, who rejects the others with his harsh personality.
* TheHeart: In that he's the embodiment of Link's gentle nature.
* HeroWorshipper: To anyone who saves him from danger, unfortunately.
* {{Keet}}: Let's see. He's short, cute, cries and smiles frequently, and his tunic is a very bright red.
* KidAppealCharacter: The most childlike of the four Links.

%%* WideEyedIdealist

[[folder:Blue Link]]
!!Blue Link

Created by the powers of the Four Sword. In the manga, Blue is the HotBlooded arrogant member of the group.
----
* FourPhilosophyEnsemble: The Optimist
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: '''(Supine)'''; he's the arrogant, brash, and self-centered Link. Compared to the other Links, he's very short-tempered, impatient, and argumentative. He and Red are usually the comic relief of the group in which he's antagonistic towards Red's happy-go-lucky personality and sometimes resorts to hitting him. He can be terribly single-minded and comes off as being insecure. He believes himself to be the original Link (despite not wearing green) and -- out of jealousy -- questions Green's competence as a hero, gets easily flustered by Vio's condescending attitude, and constantly bullies Red. He further thinks he can do well by himself instead of cooperating with the others. Despite his rude behavior, he's deep down a loyal individual who deeply cares about the other three and is just as determined as Green in saving Zelda, along with the kingdom of Hyrule.
%%* HairTriggerTemper
%%* HotBlooded
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He is arrogant, hot-headed, frequently bullies Red Link, and constantly argues with the others, especially Green. However, he actually is a very noble person deep inside, and will usually end up rescuing Red.
* TheLancer: In that he's the more aggressive contrast to Green.
%%* TheSpock
* TallDarkAndSnarky: Only he's not so tall. [[BerserkButton Don't tell him that!]]
* NeatFreak: He is revealed to be one of these in an omake. It's impossible for him to sleep at night unless his clothes are neatly folded and in a nice neat stack near where he's sleeping.

[[folder:Violet Link]]
!!Violet/Vio Link

Created by the powers of the Four Sword. In the manga adaptation, Vio is TheStoic and smart guy of the group.
----
%%* BadassBookworm
* ConsummateLiar: [[spoiler:In the manga, he does a fake FaceHeelTurn which fools everybody, including Shadow Link. Nobody sees through it, so he fakes a fight with Green Link and fakes killing him.]]
* CryForTheDevil: InUniverse, he was the first to feel sympathy for [[spoiler:Shadow Link]].
%%* DefrostingIceKing
* FourPhilosophyEnsemble: The Apathetic
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: '''(Melancholic)'''; he's the analytical, calm, and thoughtful Link who plays a big role in the story because of the usage of his intellect to trick Shadow Link, learn about his weaknesses along with the grand scheme of everything, and try to put a stop to him by destroying the Mirror Of Darkness. While he can be very helpful and insightful, he can also be a tad bit condescending and arrogant. He is judgmental towards the other Links and enjoys keeping to himself instead of having to deal with constant fighting (mostly between Green and Blue). He's even manipulative when it comes to his interactions with Shadow Link and shown to be a bit of a bookworm.
%%* GuileHero
* FakeDefector: [[spoiler:In the Manga, he fakes a FaceHeelTurn so he can get information from Shadow Link and destroy the Mirror of Darkness. Shadow Link, who had genuinely befriended him, doesn't take his betrayal well.]]
%%* InsufferableGenius
* TheSmartGuy: In that he's the embodiment of Link's intelligence.
%%* TheStoic

!! The Seven Maidens

These young women maintain the seal of the Four Sword that keeps Vaati sealed.
----
%%* BarrierMaiden
* DamselInDistress: All of them are captured by Shadow Link like Zelda.
* DamselOutOfDistress: {{Neutral Female}}s they are not.

!The Villains

[[folder:Vaati]]
!!Vaati

Vaati is a powerful EvilSorcerer in Four Swords and Four Swords Adventures and seemingly the main antagonist. Eventually, it's discovered that he is [[spoiler:a pawn in Ganon's master plan.]]
----
* BigBad: At first, later subverted.
* BlowYouAway: Obviously, retaining his powers from the previous games.
* DiscOneFinalBoss: He's not really the final enemy.
* TheDragon: Later revealed as this to [[spoiler:Ganon]].
* EvilLaugh: Oddly deep when compared to his laugh in ''The Minish Cap''.
* EvilSorcerer: Of course.
%%* FacelessEye
* HijackedByGanon: He's not the true BigBad in this game.
* HopelessBossFight: [[spoiler:The fight with him in the manga proves to be this because the Dark Mirror made him impossible to kill. He only dies when Shadow Link destroys it.]]
* ThePawn: To [[spoiler:Ganon]].
* SealedEvilInACan: He starts out sealed in the Four Sword.
* SilentAntagonist: Oddly enough, despite talking a lot in ''Four Swords''and ''The Minish Cap'', in this game he has not a single line of dialogue.
* YouHaveFailedMe: When Vaati is defeated for the (presumed) final time and the Palace of Winds is collapsing, [[spoiler:Ganon's]] reaction to his defeat is disgust that Vaati was unable to defeat the four heroes.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Shadow Link]]
!!Shadow Link

Link's Doppelgänger in Four Swords Adventures. His character was given more depth in the manga adaption. At first, he seemed to be Link's complete opposite. He tricks Link into retrieving the Four Sword in both the game and the manga. ''Hyrule Historia'' states that he is a manifestation of the original Ganondorf's hatred for Link.
----
* AdaptationDistillation: The game and the manga flip-flop on these. In the game, he has a whole slew of abilities, but is given no backstory. In the manga, he's a fully-fleshed out character, but showcases ''none'' of the abilities he had in the game short of wielding a sword.
** Most jarring is his ability to use [[SwordBeam Sword Beams]] in the manga while the other Links can't. This is reversed in the game.
* BerserkButton: "Don't ever '''mock''' the shadows! You think they're weak and insubstantial!!"
%%* DarkIsNotEvil
* DeadpanSnarker: In the manga.
* EnemyToAllLivingThings: Absolutely ''anywhere'' he shows up, he proceeds to make everyone and everything miserable. The best examples are in ''Village of the Blue Maiden'' where he keeps dragging people into the DarkWorld, and in ''Kakariko Village'' where he ''nearly burns the village down''. To say nothing of the manga when he rides a [[InstantAwesomeJustAddDragons dragon]] and actually ''succeeds'' in burning a whole town down.
* EvilTwin: In the manga, it's explained that he is the literal shadow of Link given physical form.
* FreudianExcuse: In the manga, it's revealed that he is angry at Link for not being noticed.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:In the manga, he destroys the Dark Mirror to kill Guufu, which also kills him.]]
* IShallTauntYou: Half of his appearances verge on this, either jumping away from Link and giggling (and [[VillainExitStageLeft fleeing]] if you fail to hit him) or causing trouble in plain sight.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: [[spoiler:In the manga, after Zelda tries to be nice to him and gets kidnapped AGAIN. He disguises himself as Violet/Vio and leads the others to her. When they're ambushed, he takes matters into his own hands and smashes the Dark Mirror himself, [[HeroicSacrifice knowing full well what that will do to him]] (see RedemptionEqualsDeath below).]]
* TheHeavy: Kickstarts the plot with the kidnapping of Zelda and the maidens, and proceeds to wreak havoc whenever possible afterward.
* LivingShadow: The evil shadow of Link.
* MadBomber: Called the trope word for word by an NPC when he's dropping ''[[OneHitKill Giant]] [[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill Bombs]]'' on the area constantly.
* MesACrowd: He's worse than the four Links in this regard.
* MoneySpider: Drops either a Big Green (100) or Big Blue (150) Force Gem upon defeat -- ''all'' of them, even if they're clones.
* NoOntologicalInertia: When the real Shadow Link is slain, all the clones spontaneously die if they weren't killed already.
* ThePowerOfHate: According the ''Hyrule Historia'', he is the manifestation of the original Ganondorf's hatred for Link.
* PyroManiac: All the fire in ''Kakariko Villiage'' in the game is from him. The Fire Rod is also one of his most commonly used items when not in a fight; he even tries to steal one in the ''first level of the game''!
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: [[spoiler:In the manga, his breaking of the Dark Mirror causes his own death.]]
* SealedEvilInACan: In the game, he is made up of soldiers from inside the Dark Mirror.
* SlasherSmile: Has a really creepy one in the manga.
* TheStarscream: In the manga, he doesn't care for the idea of Guufu or Ganon's rule, [[spoiler:but doesn't consider plotting against them till Vio suggests the plan of using Zelda's power to destroy Ganon]]. He's beaten by the Links before his plans get off the ground however.
* TookALevelInBadass: He picks more difficult areas and gains more attacks with each successive boss fight. By the last one, he's throwing out ''hurricane spins'' like candy, and unlike Link, he doesn't get dizzy from it.
* WolfpackBoss: In every boss battle with him after the first, he [[MesACrowd clones himself]] to even the odds. [[spoiler:Gets cranked UpToEleven in the last battle with him, where you have to kill ''nine of him'' in a single fight.]]
* VillainForgotToLevelGrind: In the manga, while he's able to defeat the four Links easily in their first fight, by the time he fights them again, they've gotten strong enough to beat him easily.

[[folder:Ganon]]
!! Ganon

The {{reincarnation}} of an ancient evil who rises once again using the Trident of Power.
----
* BigBad: Ends up [[HijackedByGanon usurping]] Vaati's position.
* BlackSheep: To the Gerudo people, who expelled him from their tribe when he stole the Trident. Possibly justified, as the Hyrule Historia officially places it in the Child Timeline where the events of ''Twilight Princess'' and the failed Gerudo invasion occurred and the Gerudo did not want to repeat that tragedy again.
%%* BladeOnAStick
* EvilWeapon: The Trident of Power which led the newest Ganondorf along his StartOfDarkness.
* LegacyCharacter: The only Legacy Ganon in the series. Every other game has the same one from ''Ocarina of Time'' either unsealed or resurrected; this Ganondorf is notably a different individual.
* MagicMirror: Which he used to create Shadow Link.
%%* ManipulativeBastard
%%* PigMan
%%* ProngsOfPoseidon
* {{Reincarnation}}: Though Ganon is usually the same person throughout the series, this one is an exception; the original Ganondorf died at the end of ''Twilight Princess'', and this one is his reincarnation.
