!!Xing Ling
-> A scion of the Righteous Way, The Bandit of Bandits

Overview: One of the flagship heroines of the TCZ franchise, Xing Ling's story began in the first volume of the first series as a self-styled "Bandit of Bandits" who goes around helping the victims of bandits recover what was robbed from them with her awesome martial arts skills. Her life would come to an important turning point after a chance encounter brought her face to face with The Celestial Zone.

----

* ActionGirl: But of course, we all know it by now!
* BadassNormal: Even before developing spiritual powers, she single-handedly defeated a Mook from the Evil Way. Granted, it was a Ghost, the lowest-ranked of Mooks, but as Wang Chan had put it, even the lowliest of goons from the Celestial Zone would make short work of normal (that is, those without spiritual powers) people.
* BoyishShortHair: Had long hair at her debut in TCZ I, but her first major battle saw her getting a CloseCallHaircut, hence giving her the hairstyle that she would keep for the rest of the first series.
* BreakTheCutie: Volume 4 of TCZ I, where Xing Ling had to fight for her very life while being hopelessly outclassed, and spending a good part of the volume nursing a broken arm and an inability to call out for help due to a throat injury, the combined feeling of helplessness and her injuries nearly tipped her past her breaking point. Thankfully she's Determinator a tough one to say the least, and she gets better.
* ChekhovsGunman: Remember when Wang Chan told Xue Wu that he sensed something special about Xing Ling? He was right. .
* ChekhovsSkill: Her "Shooting Stars" technique. [[spoiler: It proved instrumental in defeating Moon Monarch in the ultimate battle of the first series, and as of TCZ II, she's even combined it with her considerable spiritual powers to create a whole new set of techniques that capitalizes on her LightningBruiser status with devastating effect]].
* ClassyCatBurglar: The Bandit of Bandits, although she's somewhat more altruistic due to her Robin Hood-esque tendencies to return the loot to their rightful owners.
* CurbStompBattle: Has been on the giving and receiving end of several curb stomps; some of her notable instances include:
** Before she developed spiritual powers, she was able to use a combination of leverage, skillful maneuvering and detailed anatomical knowledge to knock out Dimwit, a named mook, who didn't even manage to land a blow on her. BadassNormal indeed, and is quite an upgrade compared to her previous fights before that.
** She ended up being on the receiving end of a curb stomp mere moments later when Clown showed up. The events that followed afterward were not pretty to say the least, although granted she did manage to get a good hit in on Clown.
* DavidVersusGoliath: Her first few battles with enemy Mooks during her BadassNormal phase count as such.
* TheDitz: Has shades of this, what with her tendency to get mixed up between left and right at times.
* GenkiGirl
* LightningBruiser: Post-development of spiritual powers, Xing Ling was noted to be one of - if not the - fastest scions in the East. Combined with the fact that she can really pack a punch and you've essentially got this trope running for her.
* MetronomicManMashing: Was on the receiving end of one in the first volume when her opponent was none too pleased that she, a mere mortal was able to knock him out without any spiritual arts.
* SuperSpeed: Is stunningly quick even by the standards of The Celestial Zone's top scions.
* ThouShaltNotKill: Mentions it outright in volume 1 of TCZ I when a bandit surrenders, begging for mercy, to which she reassuringly replies that she never kills. She carries this trait for the entirety of the series. Only the worst of the worst are exempt.
* TookALevelInBadass: Developed spiritual powers.

!!Chi Xue
-> The Destroyer of Evil

Overview: One of the top scions of The Celestial Zone, Chi Xue strikes fear in the heart of all followers of the Evil Way; with her distinctive red outfit and icy-cold disposition, Chi Xue earned her title of "Destroyer of Evil" due to her merciless approach to slaughtering any and all followers of the Evil Way with absolutely no pity or remorse. However, there's more to her than meets the eye...

----

* ActionGirl
* BeautifulAllAlong: When Chi Xue is unveiled for the first time courtesy of HatDamage by Xuan Tian Crow.
* BreakTheBadass: The volume in the first series titled Doom of The Destroyer is pretty much about this trope. Both physically as well as emotionally.
** [[spoiler: Happens again in Volume 16 of TCZ I during her showdown with Xuan Hua Divine, and the emotional damage might be even greater than the first, as her very sister sacrificed herself to heal her from her injuries.]].
* BreakoutCharacter: The only TCZ character thus far to get her own SpinOff manhua that further expands on her origins.
* CurbStompBattle: Practically every one of her fights in the first 25% of the course of the first series is such.
** [[spoiler: Has also been on the receiving end of a Curb Stomp herself in her prequel manhua when she tried to take on the Anarchic Phantom Destroyer before she mastered a spirit weapon, though granted she did Curb Stomp an army of his Mooks to get to him, so...
** [[spoiler: Later in the same book she masters her spirit weapon and pays him back for the Curb Stomp with an even more brutal Curb Stomp, only this time Chi Xue is the one doing the stomping.]]
* DefrostingIceQueen: Gradually, as part of her CharacterDevelopment over the course of the first series.
* DramaticUnmask: See BeautifulAllAlong above.
* TheDreaded: Only if you're a bad guy.
* FriendToAllChildren: One of her CharacterEstablishingMoments; after making short work of a bunch of Mooks that had earlier decimated a village, Chi Xue stumbles upon a group of children who survived due to said goons deciding to save the best for the last, and gently reassures them that she will lead them to safety. [[spoiler:This was also used to her disadvantage in Volume 6, when Jade Rabbit uses some brainwashed children to act as a decoy to draw Chi Xue out. Her concern for children was so much so that even while severely handicapped by a GameBreakingInjury Determinator she continued to fight her enemies while shielding said child. It was only until later did we that it was discovered that said child she was shielding was already done in by a lethal dose of poison that was inflicted beforehand. Potential TearJerker, anyone?]]
* GoodIsNotSoft: And how!
* LadyInRed: The Mazakala clone, whose outfit essentially amounts to an anachronistic number that combines elements of SensualSpandex, ChainmailBikini and SpyCatsuit into one spicy MsFanservice package.
* LadyOfWar
* MeaningfulName: Chi Xue means "Crimson Snow", which says a lot about her choice of wardrobe, and her personality...
* MookHorrorShow: It really sucks to be a mook from the Evil Way and have The Destroyer of Evil come knocking...
* RedEyesTakeWarning
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Mostly appears to be "ice", although the "sugar" part shows itself whenever she's around children.
* TranquilFury: Maintains her icy-cold disposition and preternatural calm even as she slaughters Evil Way followers by the truckload - if trucks existed back in her era, that is.

!!Wang Chan
--> A disciple from Mount Dream Cloud

Overview: One of the top disciples from a leading school in the Righteous Way, Wang Chan was introduced early in the story as one of the main characters alongside his senior Xue Wu, whom he looks up to as a big brother figure despite the two of them being unrelated by blood. Is shown to be exceptionally talented, wise and knowledgeable for his age, and seems to be extremely knowledgeable about the going-ons in the Celestial Zone.

----

* BadassBookworm: He's usually more inclined to approaching problems using wit and diplomacy rather than brute force, but * he's shown to be more than capable of holding his ground as well in the event of a slugfest.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Sure, he's all mild-mannered and bookish and inclined towards pacifism, but if you're evil and think he's a pushover because of that, be careful...
* ConfusionFu: Wang Chan's preferred tactic when he does have to fight.
* :
* MartialPacifist: He'd rather not fight at all if he can help it.
* MrExposition: One of his primary roles throughout the first series.
* NervesOfSteel: Holds an undisputed championship for being the only character in the entire franchise to have never suffered any form of emotional breakdown at any point, not even close.
* NiceGuy: He even once offered to SaveTheVillain when they were caught dangling from a broken bridge via a HoistByHisOwnPetard, although the villains' selfish desire to be rescued first before their comrades ended with the whole lot of them plummeting to a KarmicDeath at the bottom of a ravine.
* RedOniBlueOni: Wang Chan is the Blue Oni to Xue Wu's Red.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: Alternatively, he can also be seen as the sensitive guy to Xue Wu's manly man.
* TookALevelInBadass: Not that he wasn't a badass to begin with, but come TCZ II it's clear he'd gained quite a few levels of badass.
* WeakButSkilled: Uses extensive applications of tactics in battle, preferring to let his opponents exhaust themselves or to trick them into revealing their blind spots, rather than to seize the advantage of striking first.

!!Hippu of Trioculus
--> King of the Trioculus

Overview: The king and leader of the Trioculus people, Hippu succeeded the throne following the late king's untimely demise, and forged an alliance between the Trioculus and Diabolus as part of the Opus Diaboli. [[spoiler:Namuh thinks little of King Hippu however, seeing him as little more than a pretender. Part of the reason was due to him viewing his father, the late King Trioculus as a WorthyOpponent, and felt cheated out of an honorable DuelToTheDeath when Hippu murdered his own father to claim the throne for himself. Stil, he admits that the Trioculus army had their uses, and for the time being tolerates their alliance.]]

----

* AntagonisticOffspring: To the late King Trioculus, although based on Namuh's narrative it seemed that the old king DidntSeeThatComing.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: While played straight by most of the Opus Diaboli generals, Hippu notably averts this trope, having shown that he possessed no more fighting skill than the average mook; a point that Masaecha brings up, much to his disgust as he comments on the young king's bladework as being "a disgrace to the legendary swordplay skills of the Trioculus people".
%%* BaldOfEvil
%%* TheBrute
* TheBully: Serves as TheDragon to BigBad Lord Namuh alongside several other co-dragons, but unlike the others he comes across as being more like a big bully than an effective minion.
* DirtyCoward: Keeping to the TCZ tradition, Hippu is TCZ X's contemporary to the likes of the Prince of Wei and Snap Assault Peter.
* EvilIsHammy: Is quite the LargeHam with all his Badass Boasts, much to the annoyance of his fellow generals, indicating that he's pretty much all bark and no bite.
%%* FaceOfAThug: For all intents and purposes he looks (and acts) more like a thug than a king. See TheBrute above.
%%* HumiliationConga: Gets one from .
* KickTheDog: [[spoiler:Delivers a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown to fellow general Snoisiv, just to prove his "manliness" to his subordinates. It comes back later to bite him in the ass, culminating in his KarmicDeath.]]
* ProudWarriorRace: The Trioculus people as a whole seemed to be portrayed as such. Sadly however, their new king isn't doing said reputation of his people any justice.
%%* ScaryBlackMan: Who turns out to be not so scary after all.
%%* TheEvilPrince: Beheaded his own father while he wasn't looking in order to claim the throne for himself.

----

!!Namuh of Diabolus
--> King of the Diabolus, leader of the Opus Diaboli

Overview: King of the Diabolus tribe, and leader of the alliance known as the Opus Diaboli, Namuh plays the role of the primary antagonist of TCZ-X for much of the series.

----

* AffablyEvil: Is remarkably well-mannered for a villain, and also shows his own code of chivalrous conduct.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: He leads the Opus Diaboli alliance, and is naturally their most formidable warrior, being second to only .
* BareFistedMonk: Fights without a weapon in his hand most of the time.
* BigBad
* : .
* EvilOverlord
* GoodOldFisticuffs: When he doesn't have a sword in his hand, Namuh combines this with the use of magic spells. His unarmed combat style generally looks more rough-and-tumble compared to the more refined martial arts moves used by the Eastern scions.
* ImplacableMan: Shrugs off everything that Silenfoid and Masecha, two of the top Western scions, could throw at him, and was decidedly mopping the floor with the two of them even when the two had chosen to fight in a locale where they had a terrain advantage.
* MagicKnight: Namuh's fighting style, as he's been showed to be equally adept at both blades and spells.
** KungFuWizard: And he's not weak with his fists either.
* NobleDemon
* : .
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Subverted. He's not really as evil as he was thought out to be.

!!Tai Yi Dao
--> [[spoiler: Leader of Hermes Corps]]

Overview: A seemingly harmless and innocuous young man who appeared to be highly knowledgeable and profoundly WiseBeyondHisYears, despite being shrouded in mystery he quickly endears himself to most of the cast. Little do they know however,

----

* AffablyEvil: Well-mannered and extremely cultured, he's genuinely one of the nicest guys you could ever have the privilege of knowing... provided you aren't his enemy, of course.
* AGodAmI: Considering he named the group "Hermes Corps", it's evident that he regards Espers as messengers to the gods, and as such consider themselves to be either akin to a SuperiorSpecies, or Transhuman the next step in human evolution.

* CoolSword: Wields one in combat, but it's never explained whether it's an extension of his ESP or an actual weapon. It does seem to respond to his powers, however, so it's presumably the latter.
* CrazyPrepared: [[spoiler: During his battle with Apocalyptic Time he actually had his BeehiveBarrier put up in advance, knowing full well that Time would start the fight by spamming his time freeze right off the bat. Did I forget to mention that Tai Yi Dao's shield is next to impenetrable? There was nothing Apocalyptic Time could do.]]
* FriendToAllLivingThings: While having lunch with Senba Zuru, he actually stopped her from crushing an ant, stating how they have as much right to live as we do. [[spoiler: It doesn't apply to humanity though, being the MisanthropeSupreme that he is. Or rather, he applies it in a rather twisted way; stating that in spite of being thoroughly disgusted by humanity's selfish ways and callous disregard for nature he has no intentions of completely exterminating humanity, but rather, seeks to drive down the human population so that they will no longer be a threat to nature.]]
* MisanthropeSupreme: Is pretty uncompromising in his outlook that HumansAreBastards, and sincerely believes that the world would be better off without them. Though true to his AffablyEvil nature, he maintains a friendly, personable public image.
* WorthyOpponent: Sees Master Achilles and later Mi Sheng as this, and being the sort of person that he is, gives them their due respect in battle.

!!Lavender
--> Protagonist, Scion of ESP

Overview: One of the first of the protagonists to be introduced to the story, Lavender was sent to Singapore on a mission by her mysterious EccentricMentor WTB in search of the Scion who possesses the legendary White Potential.

----

* ActionGirl: She's a Wee Tian Beng created heroine, what do you expect?
* : Averted. [[spoiler:Got blackmailed by Alice into letting her carve a mark into her face, although the first time around Alice only but managed to make a cut before Kamiya intervened. In what might be a moment of crossing the MoralEventHorizon by Alice, she returns to finish the job after Lavender was rendered immobile by a more potent time stopper than herself.]]
* BreakTheCutie: See the spoilered trope above.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindows: Has lilac eyes that match her hair.
* Expy: Of Xing Ling. (See TCZ I, II and X)
* GenkiGirl: Almost to the point that she seems like Xing Ling's spiritual successor.
* Otaku: Loves manga and Cosplay.
* TimeStandsStill: Her main power set basically allows her to freeze time.
** BlowYouAway: Her secondary power set is control over wind.
* TheWorfEffect: Wee Tian Beng appears to be fond of zig-zagging this trope for Lavender for the first half or so of the series by having Lavender appear to struggle against a newly-introduced antagonist, then inverts the trope by revealing it as a bluff on her part to get them to reveal their openings.
** Vol. 4 features a CliffHanger that introduced Snap Assault Peter who promptly introduces Lavender to the ground via an energy blast equivalent of a HeyYouHaymaker.
** Vol. 7 had Explosive Blast make his debut by taking a WorfBarrage of Lavender's best hits, then boasting that even if she stopped time she would have no way of defeating him because he can take whatever she can throw at him. [[spoiler:Lavender proceeds to go for his eyes and kick him into a river.]]
