True to the [[VideoGame/{{Suikoden}} series]] in general, ''VideoGame/{{Suikoden V}}'' boasts LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters:

[[folder:The Royal Family]]
!!The Prince / Prince Freyjadour/Ardil/Faroush Falenas
->Voiced by: Creator/DaisukeNamikawa (Voice A) and Creator/JunkoMinagawa (Voice B) (JP); Creator/JohnnyYongBosch (Voice A) and Creator/MonaMarshall (Voice B) (EN)

The protagonist of ''Suikoden V''. The Prince starts as a member of the royal family who is perceived as a nobody by those who don't know him, only to become the leader of a rebellion against the tyrannical Godwin regime.

* TheHero: The only PlayableCharacter in the game.
** MagneticHero: By necessity, with 107 potential recruits available.
* AlmightyJanitor: In a sense. Because he's not in line for the throne he has very little official duties (and in fact, is mocked by other nobility), so he's free to explore and leave the capital to visit other towns in the Queendom. Guess who ends up saving the continent?
* BadassFamily: He takes to the field alongside his aunt. His parents show their chops in cutscenes. His sister is no soldier, but she's got NervesOfSteel and is a brilliant politican.
* BackToBackBadasses: He has ''several'' powerful unite attacks with his comrades, including Lyon, Miakis, his aunt Sialeeds and his double, Roy.
* BadassCrew: [[CombinationAttack Falena's Finest]] indeed.
* BattleCouple: The Prince and Lyon are inseparable [[spoiler: at least until halfway through the game]], although their relationship is that of a bodyguard rather than romance.
* BigBrotherInstinct: The player can choose to avoid this but most of his dialogues choices run in this direction. For instance, if the player chooses to voice support for Belcoot as Lymsleia's husband Sialeeds will tease him by saying, "So..he even has ''big brother's'' approval?"
* BigGood: Throughout most of the game
* {{Bishounen}}: Slender features and long white hair. Nifsara, who loves pretty boys, loves to lampshade this.
* BreakTheCutie: Happens in the manga after the Godwin's Coup. Poor kid.
* CanonName: Three, depending on the source. The novelization call him "Freyjadour" ("Frey" for short). The manga refers to him as "Ardil". The pre-made save-games released as part of the game's promotion refers to him as "Faroush".
* ChickMagnet: Lampshaded so often to the point of becoming a RunningGag. Miakis, Luserina and Lyon may all possibly have a crush on him.
* ChivalrousPervert: Some of the dialog choices let the player portray him as one, though this usually results in Lyon [[ClingyJealousGirl getting annoyed with him]]
* TheChosenOne: When he gets close to the Dawn Rune, it selects him as a host. [[spoiler: In the Bad Endings, this happens with the Twilight Rune after Lyon dies.]]
* CombatMedic: With his Dawn Rune, similar to TheHero of ''VideoGame/SuikodenII''.
* ContinuityNod: His first alternate costume when he's on disguise is also [[VideoGame/SuikodenI [=McDohl's=] clothes.]]
* DespairEventHorizon: He hits this at the end of the game if you have recruited less than 60 Stars of Destiny. Unable to cope[[spoiler: with Lyon's death,]] he wanders off into the frozen Ashtwal Mountains alone, utterly broken by his experiences.
* DifficultButAwesome: Frey's choice of weapon is a sanjiegun[[note]]basically, tri-sectioned polearm connected by links of chain, allowing it to also be used as nunchucks[[/note]] which is an extremely difficult weapon to wield properly, without the user inuring themselves. He makes it look EASY.
* FightingWithChucks: He wields a ''sansetsukon'', a three-section staff. It's one of the weapons you can learn in many schools of kung fu. A lot of its moves are used for [[BladeLock trapping the opponent's weapon]].
* FourStarBadass: Becomes one.
* HeroicBSOD:
** He goes through a large amount of trauma throught the story, but he finaly cracks [[spoiler: after the events of The New Queen's Campaign: Sialeeds seemingly betrays him and Lyon nearly dies from a stab wound.]] In a scene after the above spoiler, Luserina offers some words of comfort in an effort to reach out to him. After a moment, He simply turns around and walks off; the player is not even given the option to respond (which would normaly happen). Pretty powerful response for a silent protagonist.
** He has a minor one after [[spoiler: the Godwin coup. He sits alone in a room in Lunas and sadly remembers his now late father, late mother, and (if reputation is high enough) his kidnapped sister.]] He shakes it off, and stands up determined to fix this.
* ImpossiblyCoolClothes: Which Lucretia even advises him on, so he can look more badass.
* [[InfinityPlusOneSword Infinity Plus One Skill]]: Royal Paradise is pretty expensive. He and [[spoiler:his decoy Roy]] are the only ones who can equip it and getting it requires you to have at least an A rank on ''all'' of his basic skills.
* LadyLand: As his gender rendered him ineligible to take the throne, he was dismissed as unimportant by certain nobles, but not by his family, who [[SpoiledSweet lavished him with just as much attention as his younger sister]].
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: It nearly reaches the ground. [[spoiler: [[ He cuts it]] if he becomes the new Commander of the Queen's Knights.]]
* ModestRoyalty: Compared to the rest of his family or the nobility, his first outfit is kinda plain-looking; emphasizing how low on the totem pole he is.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: In the beginning of the game, nobles complain about this because, as a male royal, he ISN'T supposed to do anything more than ceremony.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: He gains one in his third outfit, the outfit you see in the cover and for the most of the game.
* SilentBob: The only thing saving him from being the HeroicMime is his expressive face.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: He really takes after his mother, appearance-wise. This is lampshaded by Skald Egan, [[spoiler: his grandfather]].
* WarriorPrince: He's pretty badass with his 3 section staff.
* TheWisePrince: Particularly for a HeroicMime.

!!Crown Princess Lymsleia Falenas
->Voiced by: Sawa Ishige (JP); Creator/PhileceSampler (EN)

The heir to the Falenan throne and the Prince's younger sister. Lym is extremely attached to her brother, but she also shows [[WiseBeyondTheirYears surprising wisdom for a girl her age]].

* BigBrotherWorship: She's very clingy towards her older brother, the Prince. The manga adaptation turns that around and makes her more of a {{Tsundere}}.
* CheerfulChild: Or ''was'', 'til Gizel [[KickTheDog tries to break her]], following his [[TheCoup takeover of the Sun Palace.]] [[spoiler: She cheers up after she's rescued.]]
* TheChewToy: Her bodyguard, [[TheGadfly Miakis]], takes no small amount of pleasure in [[{{troll}} toying with her.]]
* CoolBigSis: But she knows Miakis will always be there to protect her. The epilogue even states that: "they remained as close as loving sisters".
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Brown hair and eyes,
* DeadpanSnarker: She's quite aware of how [[spoiler: Godwin is using her as a puppet queen. And when the Prince gains victories]], she's quite happy to revel in [[spoiler: Gizel's]] misfortune.
* EverythingsBetterWithPrincesses: An utterly sweet ten year old princess. [[spoiler: the "princess" part only lasts about halfway through the game. She's Queen after that.]]
* TheGlomp: She loves to hug her brother.
* NervesOfSteel: [[spoiler: Gizel]] points a sword at her throat, and she doesn't even bat an eyelash. She endured a lot to make it this far.
* PluckyGirl: In spite of everything the Godwins put her through, she absolutely refused to let them break her and even devised "The New Queen's Campaign" as a smokescreen in order to defect to her brother's army[[note]]Had she been successful, the Godwins would have been exposed as insurgents and lost their credibility with the neighboring countries, as a result[[/note]]. Too bad [[spoiler: Sialeeds]] didn't allow it to happen.
** IronWoobie: At the start of the game, she's ''ten''. The stuff she goes through would usually BreakTheCutie.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: [[spoiler:Once in power.]]
* RelationshipValues: The game actually keeps track of how nice you are to her. If you're not nice enough, you're locked out of one of the endings.
* SaveThePrincess: She becomes a key figure in the plots of those who want to turn the country towards their own ends and one of the prince's primary motivations for fighting.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Just as her brother resembles her mother, Lymsleia has inherited her hair and eye colors from her father.
* {{Tsundere}}: In the manga.
* VideoGameCaringPotential: If you're nice enough to her, she'll ask to sleep in the Hero's bed for one final sleepover after the purification rite.
* WhatTheHellHero: Lym doesn't mince words, after being betrayed by [[spoiler: her aunt, Sialeeds]]. She calls her out on it and tells her exactly where she can go (seen at [[ 2:38-2:57).]]
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: For a ten-year-old, Lym comes up with some incredible battle plans.

!!Queen Arshtat Falenas
->Voiced by: Creator/SayakaOhara (JP); Carolyn Hennesy (EN)

The Queen of Falena and the Prince's mother. Although Arshtat is normally a kind and caring woman, two years ago she had to take up the Sun Rune to prevent it from being stolen. Tragically, the Rune is slowly driving her mad.

* AGodAmI: Due to the Sun Rune's influence she believes herself to be a god. In reality, she becomes an unstable pyscho.
* TheAgeless: The case for any True Rune bearer. Arshtat stopped aging at 32 when she first bore the Sun Rune.
* AlmightyMom: When your mother is a Queen...
* AnyoneCanDie: [[spoiler:She is killed by Georg Prime (see his entry for further details as to why under ThePromise) when the Sun Rune's control over her becomes out of hand, and she begins to prepare to destroy all of Falena.]]
* ArtifactOfDoom: As Queen, she is bearer of one of Falena's greatest treasures: the Sun Rune. However, its power seems to be affecting her judgment as the game begins.
* BadassFamily: Arshtat doesn't take to the field like her husband, sister, and son. But when you have a True Rune that can vaporize opponents into particles, she infinitely the most dangerous.
* BigScrewedUpFamily: A major driving factor for her: Most of her family was killed during the Falenan Succession Conflict (and her parents weren't any better), and she vowed to ensure such a situation would never occur again.
* BigFancyCastle: She commands from the sprawling Sun Palace.
* BigGood: At the start of the game.
* DeadlyDecadentCourt: She has worked tirelessly along with her husband, Ferid, to reform palace life and the darker underbelly of Falena, regardless of what sort of enemies they may have made in the process.
* DoomedByCanon: [[spoiler:If you got Richmond to investigate Georg in VideoGame/SuikodenII, you already know that Arshtat will be killed by Georg.]]
* DyingAsYourself: [[spoiler:In her last moments after getting impaled, [[TearJerker she thanks Georg for stopping her (from destroying the country with the Sun Rune), then asks him to watch over her children.]]]]
* FantasyCounterpartCulture: The Falenan Royals and their guard's designs borrow from a variety of different cultural styles - Egyptian, Greek, Chinese (clothing, certain weapons and court intrigue) and Japanese (especially the knights, who have a definite Samurai vibe) seem to be the main influence, and the concept of a powerful ''female'' ruler mirrors British monarchs [[UsefulNotes/ElizabethI Elizabeth I]] and [[UsefulNotes/QueenVictoria Queen Victoria]]. Arshtat's design is the pinnacle of this (brilliant) cultural melange.
* GodSaveUsFromTheQueen: As seen when she is under the Sun Rune's corrupting influence.
* HappilyMarried: Her marriage was arranged because Ferid won the Sacred Games. But she was [[PerfectlyArrangedMarriage quite pleased]] with it.
* TheHighQueen: She's regal, calm yet commanding, and beautiful to boot. Before she took up the Sun Rune, she was seen as one of the best Queens in Falena.
* MamaBear: Insult her family. Or, better, threaten them. Enjoy your last few seconds alive.
* {{Matriarchy}}: Falena is (so far) unique in the Suikoden universe, as the only Queendom.
* MeaningfulName: In Zoroastrian angelology, Arshtat is the name of a yazad that governs justice and righteousness.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler: In a fit of rage, induced by the Sun Rune's corrupting power, she actually [[DomesticAbuse incinerates]] her own husband, Ferid. When she comes to, she is understandably devastated.]] She tends to feel this way about the Sun Rune in general.
* ThePowerOfTheSun: Commands sun-style power in the Sun Rune.
* RapunzelHair: Hers is almost floor-length.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: When she's not under the Sun Rune's sway.
* RequisiteRoyalRegalia
** CostumePorn: Her outfit is particularly [[ elaborate.]]
** CoolCrown: It's twice the size of her head.
* TrailersAlwaysLie: Trailers for the game made it appear that a BrainwashedAndCrazy Arshtat would be your main opponent. [[spoiler: She's killed offscreen during the coup.]]
* WeaponizedHeadgear: The Sun Rune is borne on the forehead.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: Arshtat mentions that the Sun Rune seduces the soul of the person who bears it. It certainly drives her insane. Interestingly, the Dawn and Twilight Runes can prevent this. Unfortunately, Arshtat doesn't have the Dawn Rune.
* YourDaysAreNumbered: [[spoiler:Variation. She and Ferid knew that it was only a matter of time until the Sun Rune drove her completely mad and/or one of the Noble factions would try to seize power.]]

!!Ferid [[spoiler: Egan]]
->Voiced by: Creator/KeijiFujiwara (JP); Douglas Rye (EN)

The Commander of the Queen's Knights, the Prince's father and Arshtat's husband. Ferid is famous for being one of the few men to gain his position while not being a member of the Falenan nobility.

* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: To get engaged to Arshat (and thus, to become the Commander of the Queen's Knights) he had to win the Sacred Games.
* BadassFamily: Both by birth and by marriage.
** FourStarBadass: He's captain of the Queen's Knights.
* CharacterDeath: [[spoiler:He is literally incinerated by his Sun Rune-crazed wife, Arshtat.]]
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: A trait he passed on to his daughter.
* DarkHorseVictory: His victory in the Sacred Games came as a severe shock to the local aristocracy, who expected one of the gladiators hired to represent one of their own to win; needless to say, while he has become popular with the public since then, many of the nobility still resent him.
* DefusingTheTykebomb: [[spoiler:Helped a Nether Gate castoff named Mismar become a normal girl.]]
* DyingDeclarationOfLove: [[spoiler:His last words, mouthed as Arshtat incinerates him, are "I love you".]]
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: For Arshtat. He's the only one (although the Prince can do one optionally) who's able to snap her out of her Rune-induced crazy fits, but it's becoming more and more difficult as of late.
* MrFanservice: Quite pretty.
* HappilyMarried: He and Arshtat utterly love each other like no other.
* MysteriousPast: A citizen of the Island Nations Federation, he keeps his family background a secret to avoid political complications, going simply by "Ferid". It's later discovered he has a SecretOtherFamily, and [[spoiler:was the eldest son of Admiral Skald Egan of the Island Nations, thereby making Bernadette his younger sister.]]
* OneManArmy: In his youth, during the invasion of Falena by bordering Armes, he saved the nation singlehandedly by fighting on the front lines of the war as Commander of the Queen's Knights.
* ThePromise: [[spoiler: He made an arrangement with Georg that he was to kill Arshtat should she lose her sanity while in control of the Sun Rune, in case he was otherwise incapacitated. Georg reluctantly agreed.]]
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: ''Accepts'' the criticisms levied at him and his wife and encourages his knights to speak honestly.

!!Lady Sialeeds Falenas
->Voiced by: Creator/AiOrikasa (JP); Creator/KarenStrassman (EN)

The Prince's aunt and Arshtat's sister. To avoid a civil war, Sialeeds gave up her claim to the Falenan throne, although she gladly helps her family with solving the various problems in Falena.

* AbsoluteCleavage: Her gown parts down the middle, proudly displaying her rack and her navel.
* BadassFamily: She's Queen Arshtat's younger sister and the Prince & Lymsleia's aunt. And Sialeeds earns her stripes on the battlefield.
* TheBadGuyWins: [[spoiler:She accomplishes all of her objectives, breaks the power of the nobility and allows Lymsleia to reform the Queendom's government.]]
** TheExtremistWasRight
* BigBreastsBigDeal: Her gigantic breasts don't even remotely bother her. In fact, she's jealous of Jeane's.
* BlowYouAway: She specializes in Wind Rune magic.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Sialeeds is a bit of a drunk who self-admittedly "doesn't sleep well sober," and never wakes up before noon. Despite this, she's a brilliant politician, diplomat, fashion designer, and martial artist who's able to play the political game well against people such as Gizel Godwin and Salum Barrows.
* TheChosenOne: {{Subverted}}. She thought the [[spoiler: Dawn Rune]] had chosen her, because she could wield its true power, unlike Alenia. She was wrong.
* ChristmasCake: Mentioned by a few characters, who refer to her as the Prince's "old auntie", much to her annoyance.
** MaamShock
* CoolAunt: She's supposed to be personable, her job is to observe the world among the people.
* CrutchCharacter: Starts out as a fairly powerful long-range fighter, as well as a decent spellcaster, but is saddled with an irremovable Wind Rune. [[spoiler: And she ditches your party halfway through the game.]]
* DeadpanSnarker: And she loves it.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Granted, [[spoiler: the Godwins and Barows do deserve it, but Sialeeds's plan killed a lot of innocent people as the war dragged on as well.]]
* EnigmaticMinion: [[spoiler:During her stint supporting the Godwins. She keeps her true objectives from both her erstwhile 'allies' and the party both, although Gizel and Lucretia both guess what it is.]]
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: [[spoiler: She stops dyeing her hair gold. Her real color is silver, like Arshtat and the Prince.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: [[spoiler:Albeit for NecessarilyEvil reasons]]
* TheFashionista: Even Josephine is mightily impressed that she designs and creates her own gowns.
* FashionableAsymmetry: Her kimono-esque outfit.
* GagBoobs: They're '''HUGE'''! Were it not for the leather straps crisscrossing her rack, she'd be guilty of indecent exposure.
* HeroicRROD: Using the [[spoiler: Twilight Rune]] put a strain on her body. Given [[spoiler:how she was in fierce combat with the Prince just before that point]], it puts a lot of strain on her [[spoiler:and eventually kills her.]]
-->'''Sialeeds:''' ''(languidly)'' "Hahaha... I get it now..." ''(collapses on the ground)''
* ItsPersonal: She utterly ''despises'' Lucretia Merces, mostly because [[spoiler: it was she who convinced her sister Arshtat to take up the Sun Rune in the first place]]. Even Lucretia admits that, while she gave Arshtat correct advice, Sialeeds has every right to hate her.
* KickingAssInAllHerFinery: In a gorgeous dress.
* MaidenAunt: Following the violent Falenan War of Succession, she vowed to never marry or have children.
* [[MrExposition Ms Exposition]]: Her main role outside of court is to accompany her young nephew and act as his advisor, usually indicating how the team should progress.
* NotAMorningPerson: Generally, she's very upbeat but has a habit of ''punching'' those who wake her early. People thank you for ''not'' making them wake her up, and Lyon has to wear bandages one time after doing so.
* ObaSan: Although she probably wouldn't appreciate the implications of this title.
* PeekABangs: She wears her tousled, honey blonde hair in a high ponytail that falls (sexily) over one side of her face.
* PromotionToParent: She serves as a surrogate mother to the Prince, since she serves as a guide to the places the Prince tours. This is more poignant after [[spoiler: Arshtat is slain.]]
* RingsOfDeath: She wields a pair of chakram in combat.
* SecretRelationship: [[spoiler:Is implied to be in one with Kyle.]]
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Interesting aversion. While her sister Arshtat and cousin Haswar have silver hair, Sialeeds's golden hair looks out of place. [[spoiler: Her HeelFaceTurn lets her reveal that she dyes it. She really does look like Arshtat.]]
* WellIntentionedExtremist: [[spoiler:She confesses to Lucretia that she didn't think the Prince could properly clean up the Senate without problems down the road, so took matters into her own hands for the sake of the Queendom... and for her beloved Niece and Nephew.]]

!!Lady Haswar Falenas, the Oracle
->Voiced by: Yoko Sasaki (JP); Creator/MariDevon (EN)

The Oracle of Lunas and Arshtat's cousin. Like Sialeeds, Haswar has given up her claim to the Falenan throne to avoid a civil war.

* BadassFamily: Mostly her extended family.
* BadassPacifist: She is not a fighter, but does everything in her power to peacefully resist the Godwins.
* CutenessProximity: ''Really'' into the beavers, Toma, and Fuyo.
* [[GoodShepherd Good Shepherdess]]: She's shown to be extremely kind and compassionate to those under her care.
* MaidenAunt: Like her cousin Sialeeds, she has pledged to never marry or have children for the sake of stability in the Queendom. Despite this, Haswar holds no grudges against her surviving family.
** [[spoiler: Promptly defied after the game ends, as she does marry.]]
* {{Miko}}: Of a sort, due to the religious role she plays in her society.
* SaintlyChurch: Her enclave at Lunas.
* SpoiledSweet: She has a lovely, friendly nature.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: To her cousin, Queen Arshtat.
* SuccessionCrisis: As the daughter of Crown Princess Shahrewar, Haswar should have eventually become Queen. Thanks to the machinations of Shahrewar's younger sister Falzrahm and the violent succession struggle that erupted after her grandmother's passing, this never came to be. But the tragedy of the Succession War was too much for Haswar, and she allowed Arshtat to take the throne because she had absolutely no desire to have it.

[[folder:The Queen's Knights]]
->Voiced by: Creator/EriSendai (JP); Creator/CarrieSavage (EN)

A Queen's Knight-in-training and the Prince's bodyguard. She has a fairly dark past, although all most people know about it is that Ferid took her in when she was young.

* ActionGirl: You can't be a bodyguard if you can't fight.
* AnyoneCanDie: [[spoiler:Although she can be saved, see below.]]
* BadassAdorable: She has her moments, such as when the Prince visits her in the infirmary on the night before the final battle. Lyon [[PluckyGirl does her best to assure him she's fine and ready fight by his side again.]] Seen [[ here, at 4:07-4:47]]
** {{Determinator}}: She protects the Prince with her life and takes her duties very seriously.
* [[BodyGuardBabes Body Guard Babe]]: She's the Prince's personal bodyguard.
* BodyguardCrush: Heavily implied to have one on the Prince.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler: Used to be a member of Nether Gate until it was 'disbanded', and was taken in by Ferid, who helped her grow out of her {{Tykebomb}} status.]]
* {{Expy}}: Though not in appearance, her role in the plot is identical to Gremio from the first game. [[spoiler: Including the HeroicSacrifice.]]
* ImpossiblyCoolWeapon: A switchblade katana. It's a real weapon too, known as a nagamaki.
* KilledOffForReal: She was supposed to be: Silva mentions that only the Dawn Rune's magic kept her alive. [[spoiler:If you don't gather all 108 Stars of Destiny, she dies at the end of the game.]]
* KatanasAreJustBetter: She wields a large, switchblade-like ''nagamaki''.
* NotBloodSiblings: Just before the Prince and his entourage depart for Stormfist, Ferid tells Lyon that she's practically his third child and feels it entitles him to a bit of fatherly concern every now and then, Miakis also notes this on the morning the party sets out for Lunas, when she tells Lym that the Prince and Lyon are like brother and sister[[note]]Lysmleia wanted to know why it was okay for Lyon to enter her brother's bedroom unannounced, but not her.[[/note]]
* PluckyGirl: Lyon is an eternal source of cheerful optimism and support for the Prince.
* SpottingTheThread: [[spoiler: The only person who Roy can't fool with his "Prince" Disguise.]]
* TakingTheBullet: [[spoiler:Saves the Prince from Dolph's ambush during the New Queen's Campaign, nearly dying in the process and winding up on the sidelines for some time afterwards.]]
* ThisCannotBe[=/=]TryingNotToCry: This aptly sums up her reaction upon seeing the Prince and her friend, Miakis, preparing to duel each other... possibly to the death.
* UndyingLoyalty: To the Prince, even if it kills her; especially [[spoiler: [[KilledOffForReal if you fail to gather all 108 Stars of Destiny, before the final battle.]]]]

!!Georg Prime
->Voiced by: Hisanori Koyatsu (JP); Creator/JamiesonPrice (EN)

The newest member of the Queen's Knights and an old friend of Ferid's. Georg is one of the best swordsmen in the world. [[VideoGame/SuikodenII Years later, he would join in the fight against Highland.]]

See Characters/SuikodenRecurringCharacters.

->Voiced by: Creator/FumikoOrikasa (JP); Creator/KateHiggins (EN)

Lym's [[TheGadfly eccentric]] bodyguard and best friend.

* ActionGirl: She's a Queen's Knight and Lymsleia's personal bodyguard [[BewareTheNiceOnes for a reason.]]
* ApologeticAttacker[=/=]JustFollowingOrders: [[spoiler:If you lose the duel against Miaskis, she reluctantly walks behind the Prince [[ and slits his throat]]; resulting in a NonStandardGameOver.]]
-->'''Miakis: (softly)''' "I'm sorry...."
* BadassAdorable: A rare instance where the trope applies to an adult, see OlderThanTheyLook.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Despite being the most cheerful out of the Queen's Knights, she got that job (as well as being the personal bodyguard to the heiress to the Queendom) for a ''very'' good reason. Best seen when she cheerfully threatens (with one of her knives) to toss Euram into a river after he gets a little too close when trying to court the ten year old Lymsleia. She would have been chosen as a Dragon Knight too if she wasn't female.
* [[BodyGuardBabes Bodyguard Babe]]: She is Princess Lymsleia's personal bodyguard.
* BreakTheCutie: [[spoiler:Has a heartwrenching breakdown when forced to face the prince in a duel.]]
* BunnyEarsLawyer: It's hard to believe someone so seemingly carefree somehow ended up becoming a Queen's Knight, or that she might've been a member of the Dragon Calvalry, were it not for their strict policies of not allowing women in their ranks.
* CoolBigSis: She isn't just Lymsleia's bodyguard, but her confidant and closest friend, apart from her brother. The epilogue during the end credits even says they remained as close as loving sisters.
* DuelBoss[=/=]FightingYourFriend: [[spoiler:As a result of Gizel's manipulation.]]
* FamedInStory: While they're in Stormfist for the Sacred Games, Lyon tells the Prince that Miakis and Kyle are both proficient in magic, but are famous throughout Falena as Queen's Knights, rather than magic users.
* TheGadfly: She loves to mess with her friends' heads. For example, she tricks Lym into thinking that the ceremonial battle the Prince competed in for the Sacred Games was part of the official tournament and thus the Prince seeks his sister's hand in marriage.
* GenkiGirl: She's probably the only woman you'll meet that can threaten to slit someone's throat and dispose of their body in the river and do it with a smile and perfectly chipper tone, ''without'' being AxeCrazy, or a StepfordSmiler.... and '''[[BewareTheNiceOnes MEAN IT!!]]'''
* ImpliedLoveInterest: Implied twice, toward the Prince:
** When they're about to begin the purification ritual at Lunas, Lym tells the Prince not to peek. If the player answers they don't intend to, Miakis will tempt the Prince by reminding him that ''she'll'' be taking part in the ritual as well.
** The bath scene between the Prince, Lyon, Miakis, and Roy, further suggests Miakis has a crush on him. When Roy shows up in the women's bath pretending to be the Prince, not only is Miakis ''not'' upset to see him, she invites him to join them... until Lyon points out that it's Roy in disguise. That changes everything. After Miakis chases him off[[note]]by not-too-subtly implying she intended to castrate him[[/note]], Lyon notes:
-->'''Lyon: (chuckling to herself)''' "She's never gonna live this down, heh, heh! Her face was so red!"
* ItsPersonal[=/=]ThisIsUnforgivable: Seen at the climax of "The Queen's Campaign". Dolph attempts to attack the Prince, but [[TakingTheBullet Lyon shields him with her own body]] and is mortally wounded, causing Miakis to draw her blades and attack Dolph without hesitation or restraint.
* KnifeNut: She wields two Ghurka-type, curved daggers.
* MagicKnight: Lyon remarks that, among the knights, Miakis is well known for her magic. But she's still a knight, too.
* LittleMissBadass: She's OlderThanSheLooks, but the trope still applies compared to the other Queen's Knights.
* LittleMissSnarker: Sialeeds can personally attest to that, since ''even she'' isn't exempt from Miakis' zingers:
-->'''Lymsleia: (at Sialeeds)''' "Well, isn't it your own fault for not getting out of bed? I think you're just getting old."
-->'''Sialeeds: (at Lym)''' "I'm sorry, Lym, your Aunty isn't hearing too good. What was that again?"
-->'''Lymsleia: (runs and hides behind the Prince)''' "Eep!"
-->'''Prince: (if player chooses)''' "You started it, Lym."
-->'''Lymsleia: (upset)''' "Who's side are you on?"
-->'''Miakis: (innocently)''' "He's right y'know... [[StealthInsult just 'cuz it's true doesn't mean you should say it!]]"
-->'''Sialeeds: ([[DeadpanSnarker deadpan]])''' [[SarcasmMode "Why thank you, Miakis, why don't you teach us all so more about tact?"]]
* OlderThanSheLooks: [[AllThereInTheManual Believe it, or not, she's 22]], but looks, sounds, and acts closer to Lyon's age.
* OneOfTheBoys: Growing up, she was a tomboy and was always around Roog and Rahal.
* PluckyGirl: For most of the game, she's pretty upbeat and supportive. Which makes the part where Gizel [[BreakTheCutie breaks her]] so [[TearJerker difficult to watch.]]
* [[HeWillNotCrySoICryForHim She Will Not Cry, So I Cry For Her]]: Miakis invokes this when Lymsleia refuses to cry [[spoiler: over her parents' deaths]] to deny the Godwins the satisfaction of breaking her. So Miakis holds her and cries in her stead.
* SilkHidingSteel: Ever cheerful and outgoing, she always does her job with polite words and a nice, big smile, even when she's got a dagger to your throat.
* SoleSurvivor: Variation [[spoiler: She's the only full-fledged Knight who retains her title after the War's end. (Galleon retires, Kyle leaves for unspecified reasons, Georg [[PersonaNonGrata is forced to leave the country]], Alenia and Zahhak fell when the Prince's forces took back the Palace.]]
* {{Tomboy}}: She hung around with boys growing up, like Roog and Rahal.
* UnwittingPawn: [[spoiler:It's heavily implied that [[spoiler: Gizel engineered her presence at Doraat and ''allowed'' her defection so that she would spread the truth of what she'd seen during the coup. Including how she witnessed Georg stabbing the Queen]].

->Voiced by: Creator/DaisukeKishio (JP); Creator/YuriLowenthal (EN)

A member of the Queen's Knights known for being something of a pervert.

* AnIcePerson: Anyone with a water rune can use ice spells. But he uses it to great effect to [[spoiler:save the Prince, Lyon, and Sialeeeds from Dolph and Childerich.]]
* BerserkButton: Hurting women sets him off. He will, in fact, gain the Berserk buff should any female party members fall.
* BigDamnHeroes: Helps bail out the prince, Lyon and Sialeeds during [[spoiler: the coup, along with Zegai]].
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Like Miakis above, there's a ''very'' good reason why he's one of the Queen's Knights (despite his laid back attitude).
* TheCasanova: Suikoden 5's very own Don Juan.
* ChivalrousPervert: He'll flirt with any female, but he's not rude about it.
* ContinuityNod: In the same vein that the Prince's disguise clothes are a nod to [=McDohl's=] outfit in VideoGame/SuikodenI, Kyle's disguise seems to be a nod to Viktor's.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: His happy-go-lucky attitude hides his brilliance in combat, and in fact, in battle he holds his sword with a loose, wavering grip to make opponents underestimate him.
* MrFanservice: InUniverse, he's broken a string of hearts.
* HandsomeLech: Women seem to be on his mind ''all'' of the time when the Prince interacts with him. He's even quite unhappy that the Prince had met [[MsFanservice Jeane]] without him.
* HeroesPreferSwords: He wields a katana named Tianjin Wind.
* MagicKnight: He is equally skilled in both magic and combat.
* MakingASplash: He specializes in Water Rune magic, which makes him a CombatMedic as well.
* SecretRelationship: [[spoiler:Is implied to be in one with Sialeeds.]]
* UnresolvedSexualTension: With Alenia. [[spoiler: {{Subverted}} later when it's revealed he's '''not''' the one she's attracted to.]]

->Voiced by: Creator/SeizoKato (JP); Tom Wyner (EN)

An elderly member of the Queen's Knights. Galleon's loyalty to the Falenan royal family is absolute, even though Arshtat destroyed his hometown of Lordlake.

* AmicablyDivorced: [[spoiler: From Silva.]]
* BadassGrandpa: One of the oldest Queen's knights.
* BladeOnAStick: He wields the huge Thundering Halberd.
* CoolOldGuy: Stoic and stern, but noble and true.
* GrumpyBear: After watching [[spoiler: his home get scorched by the Sun Rune, divorcing Silva, and eventually watching Georg necessarily murder Arshtat]], he's a bit sour.
* MyMasterRightOrWrong: Arshtat turned his hometown of Lordlake into a barren wasteland, but he still follows her because she is his queen. [[spoiler:After Lym's coronation, this causes him to do a brief FaceHeelTurn as this technically makes The Prince's army traitors to the throne. Then Silva convinces him how foolish this is.]]
* StoneWall: He rarely ever gets multiple hits, has only one free rune slot (in addition to an unremovable Knight Rune), and not so great with magic, but he is without question THE hardest character in the game to kill, thanks to high HP, defense, and magic defense, excellent equipment options, and the ability to reach max rank in the Armor of the Gods epic skill.
* UndyingLoyalty: To the Falenan throne.

->Voiced by: Touka Ooura (JP); Creator/DorothyEliasFahn (EN)

A member of the Queen's Knights who is outspoken about her loyalty to Lord Godwin. She defects to the Godwin faction early in the story.

* AxCrazy: [[spoiler:Before the boss battle against them in Sun Palace, she and Zahhak become this when they take the Raging Nostrum drug.]]
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Paper-thin clothing. Her loyalty to Arshtat was purely contingent on supporting the Godwins.
* CoDragons: With Zahhak to Gizel, at least gameplay-wise.
* {{Determinator}}: Her father used to be a knight prior to his death. She considers him weak however, and uses that to fuel her ambitions.
* DualBoss: With Zahhak.
* EvilRedhead: Almost pink hair, and fiercely emotional.
* FaceHeelTurn: She turns against the Royal Family to side with the Godwin faction.
* FieryRedhead: Even uses a Fire Rune [[spoiler: after her attempt to control the Twilight Rune didn't pan out]].
* HotBlooded: Very much her FatalFlaw.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Is very quick to dismiss the Prince's army as "rebels and traitors" and brings up the Prince's "treachery" every time you meet her. Except that [[spoiler:she turned on Arshtat, her Queen and Ferid, her Lord Commander, to side with the very faction who usurped the Prince's family from power, thus making Alenia more appropriate of being called a traitor]].
* IneffectualSympatheticVillain: Sympathetic might be too kind but anytime one of Godwin's faction has to fail spectacularly, it has to be her.
* {{Jerkass}}: While betraying the royal family is a jerky thing to do, she couples this by being a giant bitch about it.
* JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope: In the very beginning, she actually seems somewhat reasonable. She tells the Prince he should be wary of Lord Barows [[spoiler: which is completely correct]], and that the Prince should listen to the Godwins first before judging them dangerous. [[spoiler: After the betrayal, though, she loses her mind.]]
* MilitaryBrat: Her father was a Queen's Knight.
* MoralMyopia: Always eager to call the Prince a traitor, for daring opposing the actual usurper she defected to, the Godwins. Her partner Zahhak eventually gets tired of it and calls her on it.
* MurderTheHypotenuse: [[spoiler: She lies to Gizel by telling him that Sialeeds is dead to convince Marscal to use the Sun Rune, which kills Sialeeds.]]
* NotSoHarmlessVillain: As you can see above, after so constant failures [[spoiler: she manages to provoke Sialeeds's death.]]
* PsychopathicWomanchild: Her grasp on her emotions is so poor she can come across as this. Some of her moments during the Sacred Games, while somewhat treated as {{Adorkable}}, are pretty distubring in retrospect.
* RedOniBlueOni Red Oni: To Zahhak's Blue.
* RecurringBoss: She's fought three times.
* StopHavingFunGuys:[[invoked]] She ''strongly'' disapproves of Kyle's flighty, flirty attitude.
* StrawmanEmotional: Even worse than Zahhak plays the StrawVulcan, as he at least happens to keep a facade of dignity and competence while Alenia just keeps making a fool of herself.
* ThePowerOfTheSun: She tries to [[spoiler: use the Twilight Rune.]] It doesn't go well for her.
* ThoseTwoBadGuys: With Zahhak.
* TriangRelations: [[spoiler: The A in a Type 4. She loves Gizel, but while he is aware of her feelings, he merely manipulates them while pursuing Sialeeds.]]
* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler: After she successfully [[MurderTheHypotenuse engineers her rival's death]], Gizel reveals that he ''knows'' she lied.]]
* YouShallNotPass: At the end of the game. [[spoiler: It costs her life.]]

->Voiced by: Ryo Wakabayashi (JP); Creator/PaulStPeter (EN)

A stoic member of the Queen's Knights. He defects to the Godwin faction early in the story.

* AxCrazy: [[spoiler: That's what Raging Nostrum does.]]
* [[RedOniBlueOni Blue Oni]]: To Alenia's Red.
* CoDragons: With Alenia to Gizel, at least gameplay wise.
* DualBoss: With Alenia
* FaceHeelTurn: He turns against the Royal Family to side with the Godwin faction.
* JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope: Downplayed when compared to Alenia, but in the beginning of the game, he informs the Prince that the idealistic path isn't necessarily the best one. This changes when he [[spoiler:torches his own allies just to buy time to escape.]]
* OldSoldier: He and Galleon were the only members of the Queen's Knights still fit for duty after the Armes War.
* RecurringBoss: He's fought twice in battle, and can be fought a few times in war battles.
* SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids: [[DiscussedTrope Discusses]] this with the Prince. He remarks that Ferid's way of running things is too idealistic.
* TheSociopath: He is completely unfeeling, and described more as a megalomaniac than anything else.
* TheStoic: Calm no matter the circumstance, even when torching a city.
* StrawVulcan: Unlike the fanatical Alenia, he defected to the Godwins for purely pragmatic reasons.
* ThoseTwoBadGuys: With Alenia.
* UhOhEyes: He sports unsettling, ice-blue eyes.
* YouShallNotPass: In Sol-Falena, [[spoiler: when going to rescue Lym.]]

[[folder:The Godwin Faction]]

!!Marscal Godwin
->Voiced by: Creator/{{Mugihito}} (JP); Creator/MichaelMcConnohie (EN)

The Lord of the House of Godwin. Lord Godwin seeks to turn Falena into a military state to stand up against Armes.

* ANaziByAnyOtherName: Strong central government, kill the 'sub-humans' (in this case demi-humans, like the Dwarves and the Beavers) and strong military, yep.
* BaldOfEvil: Only a mustache on his head.
* BigBad: He's the ruthless head of the House of Godwin.
* BigBadDuumvirate: With his son Gizel.
* BlingOfWar: His outfit is particularly fancy.
* BlueBlood: One of two long-running noble factions.
* EvilPlan: Bump off the royal family (except for the young heir) and take over the country so they can take over other countries. The point being to strengthen Falena.
* FantasticRacism: Xenophobic and disrespectful of the 'lesser demi-human races', who aren't even allowed to enter his city, Stormfist. [[spoiler:This eventually leads to attempted genocide.]]
* TheMourningAfter: The succession war caused the deaths of Rosalind (Marscal's wife) and Mardras (his closest family friend). This prompted him to change his personality.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: Before [[spoiler: dying, he draws out the power of the Sun Rune, so that the Prince can prove himself capable of withtstanding it's temptations.]]
* TheStoic: Nearly nothing seems to be able to faze him.
* VillainousFriendship: He and Dilber Novum are friends. [[spoiler:Learning about his death]] is one of the only times of the game [[NotSoStoic he becomes briefly emotional]].
* WellIntentionedExtremist: A very dark example. [[spoiler: With the help of his scheming son Gizel, he orchestrates a coup in Sol-Falena to take control of the throne, believing that the only way to have successful country is to have unrivaled military strength, rigid order, and centralized government. One of the ways he intends to accomplish this is by committing genocide against the Beavers and the Dwarves because they are not Falenans and do not wish to help the country.]]

!!Gizel Godwin
->Voiced by: Daisuke Kita (JP); Creator/DougErholtz (EN)

The son and heir of Lord Godwin and Sialeeds' former fiance. Gizel loves to hatch [[GambitRoulette ridiculously complicated plans]] which make him a deadly enemy to the Prince.

* AffablyEvil: He's never less than unfailingly polite.
* ArrangedMarriage: Had one to Sialeeds when he was a kid.
** PerfectlyArrangedMarriage: It's implied he viewed it as this.
* BelligerentSexualTension: Has some with Sialeeds, though it comes off more as mutual bemused FoeYay.
* BigBadDuumvirate: Arguably with his father Marscal.
* {{Bishounen}}
* BlueBlood: The only child of Marscal and Rosalind, nobles with an ancient lineage.
* TheCharmer: As a political player in a DeadlyDecadentCourt, any good player would need to be, but Gizel is exceptionally talented.
* DisappointedInYou: Gizel invokes this with [[EvilRedhead Alenia]], when he reveals that he knows she lied in her report about [[spoiler: Sialeeds' death]] so he'd use the Sun Rune[[note]]since Gizel thought that the Dawn Rune had been lost to them; leaving the Sun Rune as their final option[[/note]]. [[spoiler: Thus, killing Sialeeds, himself.]] Instead of being angry with Alenia, he turns his back on her and solemnly expresses his disappointment, before walking out; leaving her weeping in shame.
* DuelBoss: Fought in the [[spoiler: throne room of Sol-Falena.]]
* EnigmaticMinion: He doesn't share his father's extremist views, but still supports him for his own reasons, [[spoiler: helping him to organise a coup in Sol-Falena on the night of his engagement banquet to Princess Lymsleia.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: [[spoiler:In one of the Bad Endings to the game, the Prince decides to take the throne for himself with Barows. Barows then arranges the Prince's death and aligns himself with the enemy country Armes. Gizel reacts with genuine shock over the turn of events, and curses the Prince for his foolishness before readying the Royal Army for Armes's invasion.]]
* {{Expy}}: Of [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamWing Trieze Kushrenada.]] Gizel is a near carbon copy, from his attire, his hairstyle, and his manner of speech. They sole difference being, whereas Trieze was a [[MagnificentBastard meticulous planner]], Gizel prefers to set events in motion [[GambitRoulette and leave the outcome to chance.]]
* GambitRoulette: His favorite type of plan. {{Lampshaded}} by Marscal and Sialeeds, who point out that his Stormfist plan only succeeded through blind luck. [[spoiler: The plan being to connive and cheat his way to victory in the Sacred Games, and thereby winning Princess Lymsleia's hand in marriage and ultimately securing power for the Godwin Faction.]] Reportedly, he likes to use these schemes because they can't be traced back to him. This type of planning has repercussions for him in the long run. [[spoiler: The above spoiler is of particular note, as his machinations tipped off the Royal Family, which caused them to set precautions in place that ultimately enabled the Prince to escape during the coup.]]
* TheHeavy: He's the main villain for most of the game.
* KickTheDog: He repeatedly does this Lymsleia and Miakis, during his occupation of the Sun Palace, by confining them to Lym's room and informing them of his progress to find and kill her brother, the Prince, after declaring him a rebel.
** BreakTheCutie: Gizel's attempts to invoke this with Lymsleia doesn't work, but he definitely succeeds where Miakis is concerned. Immediately following Lym's coronation, Gizel strips Miakis of her guardianship of Lym and denies her the right to see her anymore, causing Miakis to grow increasingly despondent. Which culminates in [[spoiler: ordering her to aid Alenia in Doraat's defense, where she's ultimately [[FightingYourFriend forced to fight the Prince in a duel]], to buy time for Alenia to escape. [[TearJerker Miakis' heart breaks]] as she's compelled to fulfil her duty, [[ believing she had nothing left.]]]]
* MrFanservice: There are many who think Gizel is a handsome man. Even Sialeeds.
* LoveMakesYouEvil: [[spoiler:It's implied in the manga that part of his motivation for plotting against the queendom is because the princesses' vow to never marry destroyed his engagement to Sialeeds.]]
** [[spoiler: There's also the fact that despite all of Gizel's bitterness and plotting - plotting that ''included killing Sialeeds'' - it's heavily implied that he ''never'' stopped loving her. When the report comes to him that she died it's one of the few times in the game he shows real emotion. And he chastises Alenia afterwards for reporting her death prematurely. Even his final words to the Prince are about her.]]
* ManipulativeBastard: What he's become, according to Sialeeds, his ex-fiancé.
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: He gleefully supports GladiatorGames.
* SenselessSacrifice: How he views [[spoiler: Zahhak and Alenia's deaths. He specifically told them to let the Prince come into the throne room.]]
* SuicideByCop: It's implied that [[spoiler: he kept Lym in the palace so the Prince would fight to the death.]]
* TyrantTakesTheHelm: [[spoiler: By marrying Lymsleia, he assumes command of the Queen's Knights and by extension the entire Royal Army.]]
* VillainousValor: Only at the end of the Game. [[spoiler: When the Loyalist army storms the palace, he waits with Lymsleia in the throne room. At first it seems like he's holding her hostage, but Lym calls his bluff. He then revels that he simply wanted to talk with the Prince. After a conversation about the well meaning intentions that lead to the war in the first place, then challenges the Prince to a one-on-one duel. The Prince is by that point a seasoned warrior; Gizel knew that, and was quite aware that he would (most likely) not survive.]]

->Voiced by: Kiyotaka Furushima (JP); Chris Hanel (EN)

An emotionless Nether Gate assassin and Lyon's ForgottenChildhoodFriend.

* CreepyMonotone: It's not known whether it's because of his training, the drugs he takes, or both, but Dolph never raises his voice or tone.
* DuelBoss: The last duel of the game.
* TheDragon: Enforces Gizel's will efficiently.
* [[EmotionlessGirl Emotionless Guy]]: Many Nether Gate assassins are this way, but Dolph is the poster child.
* FaceOfAnAngelMindOfADemon: Has a placid smile, neat features, and is utterly terrifying.
* ForgottenChildhoodFriend: To Lyon.
* GoOutWithASmile: Although it's doubtful it means the same thing as a normal smile.
* ImplacableMan: Every time he is defeated, he gets right back up. [[spoiler: Comes from all the drugs he took. In fact, he may not even be technically alive anymore since he can no longer feel pain or even ''bleed''. The Prince has to vaporize him with the Dawn Rune to finally put him down for good.]]
* MonochromaticEyes: He almost lacks an iris.
* NotSoDifferent: When the beavers talk about Marscal's genocide, Dolph is quick to point out that the beavers believe themselves to be above humans and dismiss them. This is true, although the beavers never resorted to genocide.
* NotSoStoic: [[spoiler:Creepy variation, as he turns out to be a BloodKnight whose apparent lack of emotion is merely due to all the drugs he uses to enhance his performance.]]

->Voiced by: Creator/JunichiSuwabe (JP); Creator/LexLang (EN)

The gladiator used by Gizel Godwin during the Sacred Games. Chiderich is later revealed to be a particularly psychotic member of Nether Gate.

* AxeCrazy: Brutal and enjoys slaughter.
* BloodKnight: When hurt or dueling, he laughs most of the time.
* ConfusionFu: He fights in an odd, unpredictable manner, using fluid movements to fox his opponent in a very similar manner to Voldo of [[VideoGame/SoulSeries Soul Calibur]] fame.
* CombatSadomasochist: He gaves himself a pain when he ingests an excessive amount of Raging Nostrum.
* DuelBoss: [[spoiler: Can be fought by Roy at the Headquarters, but is definitely fought in Stormfist.]]
* {{Expy}}: Remember [[VideoGame/SuikodenII Luca Blight]]? Childerich's personality will certainly remind you.
* FacialMarkings: After he [[spoiler: is made a Queen's Knight.]]
* FauxAffablyEvil
* HiddenWeapons: He fights using two hidden wrist blades.
* HumiliationConga: [[spoiler: After taking your castle, he was caught in [[TheChessMaster Lucretia's]] XanatosGambit and lost almost all his troops, then faces your army in one of the easiest campaigns in the game since ''your'' army is at its full strength and greatly outnumber his. Next time you see him, you kill him in a duel.]]
* InsaneTrollLogic: Invokes this multiple times [[spoiler: first by slaughtering innocent civilians in a town they'd liberated from the Prince because they let the Prince get away and thus were "traitors", and when Bahram ''finally'' stands up to him over his brutality he accuses Bahram of betraying the crown, thus putting Bahram on the spot of proving himself]].
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: By the time you reach the final faceoff with him, he's pissed off enough people to earn himself a few willing to declare "LeaveHimToMe!" Take them along to that conflict, and they'll actually ''argue'' over this. [[spoiler: If you let them fight and they ''lose'' against him, they're KilledOffForReal.]]
* SlasherSmile: He sports a [[PsychoticSmirk contemptuous smirk]].
* StupidEvil: He kills Godwin supporters just because their town was conquered by the prince's army. The survivors of his rampage quickly re-evaluate their loyalty to the Godwins.
* TakingYouWithMe: [[spoiler:After his ambush is destroyed and he finds himself outnumbered, he ingests [[PsychoSerum Raging Nostrum]].]]

!!Dilber Novum
->Voiced by: Issei Futamata (JP); Creator/BobPapenbrook (EN)

The general of the Godwin army and Lord Godwin's best friend.

* [[AlasPoorVillain Alas Poor Antivillain]]: During the Battle of Stormfist, [[spoiler:he dies defending the castle harboring the grave of Lady Godwin, the wife of his best friend]].
* AntiVillain: His motivation is only to help his best friend and later [[spoiler: protect Rosalind's grave.]]
* IOweYouMyLife: The reason of his loyalty to Marscal Godwin.
* TheRival: To Boz Wilde. The pair are known respectively as "Dilber of the West" and "Boz of the East".
* VillainousFriendship: He and Marscal are friends.
* WorthyOpponent: He considers the Prince this.
* YouShallNotPass: Bars the way to [[spoiler: the Twilight Rune bearing Sialeeds]] and Castle Stormfist.

!!Bahram Luger
->Voiced by: Isao Yamagishi (JP); Creator/TonyOliver (EN)

The admiral of the Godwin navy and Raja's former student.

* [[AlasPoorVillain Alas Poor Antivillain]]: During the Second Battle of Doraat, [[spoiler:he launches a suicide attack on the Dahak to prove that his respect for his mentor and enemy Raja is not holding him back. After Luger gets his ass kicked, Raja has a rather sad chat with him, during which he apologizes for failing her as a student, before he passes away]].
* AntiVillain: Doing his duty, and no more.
* BladeOnAStick: Fights with a spear.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Despite his loyalty to the Crown, he's displeased with Childerich's promotion to Queen's Knight and is horrified with the senseless killing Childerich does to their ''own supporters''.
* HonorBeforeReason: [[spoiler:After having his loyalty questioned by Childerich, he makes a suicide run against the Dahak.]]
* MyCountryRightOrWrong: He loyally serves the Godwin Faction, as he thinks they will bring prosperity to Falena. He's ready to fight against anyone who oppose them, even his old mentor Raja. But it doesn't bring him any pleasure.
* WorthyOpponent: He considers Raja this and vice-versa.

[[folder:House of Barows]]

!!Salum Barows
->Voiced by: Eisuke Yoda (JP); Michael Sorich (EN)

The Lord of the House of Barows. Lord Barows supports peace with other countries, albeit mostly to fill his pockets with money earned from trade.

* BigBadWannabe: Unlike most, the real extent of his menace is truly revealed only after his defeat.
* BlownAcrossTheRoom: By the [[spoiler: Twilight Rune and a revenge driven Sialeeds.]]
* BlueBlood: The Barows are one of two high ranking noble families.
* CorruptPolitician: A medieval variation.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: He does deeply care for Luserina and Euram. Of course, he cares mostly about how to use their skills to his advantage, but some scenes may imply that he truly loves them (for instance, he seems geniunely heartbroken when [[spoiler:his daughter abandons him because she's disgusted by his actions]] and, later in the game, [[spoiler:when Sialeeds tells him she wants to talk about Luserina, he's eager to hear news about her]]).
* FatBastard: He's almost ''spherical''.
* HumiliationConga: After [[spoiler: the truth about the Lordlake Rebellion and the whereabouts of the Dawn Rune are revealed. Even ''his own daughter'' walks out on him]].
* LargeHam: He gleefully [[ChewingTheScenery chews the scenery]] whenever he's on-screen.
* MeaningfulName: Possibly unintentional, but it's interesting that the person who tries to use the Prince's name and position to gain power for himself [[spoiler:and also stole the Dawn Rune]], has a name homophonic with the word "borrows".
* NotSoDifferent: Whereas the Godwins push forward more offensive policies, he supports more peaceful actions. Despite these, few actually ''trust'' his welcoming smile, as in many ways he's NotSoDifferent than his rival faction [[spoiler: given that he'll kill anyone who defies him]].
* NotSoHarmlessVillain: It turns out that [[spoiler:he was the one behind the Lordlake Rebellion, which was a scheme to help him steal the Dawn Rune. This forced Arshtat to take up the Sun Rune, setting up much of the game's conflict.]]
* ObviouslyEvil: Aside from his [[FatBastard considerable girth and its usual connotations in fiction]], just about everything he says and does adds to his sleaziness. He's corrupt as hell and everyone knows it.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Receives one from Sialeeds when [[spoiler: she murders him, mocking his ways and informing him that without him, the house of Barows will collapse]].
* SmugSnake: Only a few people can't see through his facade, and Salum never really ends up succeeding.

!!Euram Barows
->Voiced by: Creator/DaisukeNamikawa (JP); Ezra Weisz (EN)

Lord Barows' foppish son and heir. Euram is obsessed with Princess Lymsleia.

* TheAtoner: [[spoiler:If he does his optional HeelFaceTurn.]]
* BecomingTheMask: It's revealed [[spoiler:after his HeelFaceTurn that Euram's foppish behavior started off as an act to cheer his emotionally unstable mother up after the death of his brother. But a combination of Salum's pressure, his mother's instability, and Euram's own weak will made the ruse become part of his actual personality]].
* BlueBlood: As the heir [[spoiler:and head, once Sialeeds murders Salum]] of the Barows family.
* BreakTheHaughty: Failing over and over again and [[spoiler:seeing Sialeeds murder his father]] erodes most of the UpperClassTwit aspects of his personality. [[spoiler:As a reflection of this, he wears a serious and solemn expression in his default portrait should you recruit him.]]
* CharacterDevelopment: [[spoiler:If the player decides to recruit him and see him through his optional HeelFaceTurn.]]
* DirtyCoward: Although ''he'' thinks he's terribly brave, of course.
* TheDulcineaEffect: As seen when he encounters Princess Lymsleia.
* {{Expy}}: Like Snowe Vingerhut of ''VideoGame/{{Suikoden IV}}'', Euram is an UpperClassTwit [[spoiler:who panicked when placed in a position he wasn't fit for, triggering a tragedy]].
* FreudianExcuse: See BecomingTheMask above.
* GreenEyedMonster: If recruited, he confesses to the Prince that he was deeply envious of Gizel Godwin, who was better than him at ''[[TheAce everything]]''. A major part of why he sought to marry Lymsleia and become Commander of the Queen's Knights was so that he could finally beat Gizel at something.
* GoMadFromTheIsolation: It's stated in the Dawn Times that Euram's behavior changed when Hiram was murdered and Luserina began taking up the various duties of Rainwall, leaving him alone with his scheming father and [[{{Hikikomori}} hidden]] mother.
* HopelessSuitor: For the Princess.
** StalkingIsLove: Although her obvious rebuttal lands on deaf ears.
* LargeHam: Like his father.
* LaughablyEvil: He may be a traitor and a coward, but he's so ''fun'' and ''enjoyable'' to watch.
* IneffectualSympatheticVillain: Lacking in the sympathy, since he's against you, but he's so laughably bad.
* MilesGloriosus: Not even remotely a good fighter.
* NotSoHarmlessVillain: While he acts most of the time like a buffoon, [[spoiler:his scheme in Sable poses a big threat to the Prince's war, as it prevents him from gaining an important ally]].
* OptionalPartyMember: He shares [[spoiler:a Star of Destiny with Eresh. Recruiting one prevents you from recruiting the other.]]
* RedemptionDemotion: [[spoiler:Despite being fought in a boss battle, he cannot be used outside of war battles.]]
* RichIdiotWithNoDayJob: Given that he was supposed to head the Barows faction.
* TomeOfEldritchLore: [[spoiler: He is the owner of the Book of Condemnation, which features in an abstruse SideQuest that must be completed to recruit Alhazred.]]
* UpperClassTwit: Emphasis on the twit.
* UnexpectedSuccessor: [[spoiler:His brother Hiram was being groomed as his father's successor, until he got assassinated.]]

!!Luserina Barrows
->Voiced by: Creator/RinaSato (JP)

The daughter of Lord Barows. Unlike the rest of her family, Luserina is actually a decent person.

* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: She is used to swap party members in and out of the Prince's team. She's also ''nothing'' like the rest of her family.
* ArrangedMarriage: Salum continuously tries to get her into one with the Prince, much to her chagrin.
* TheAtoner: Feels she has to be one for her family's actions, even though she's not asked to.
* BlueBlood: The Noble House of Barrows.
* CannotSpitItOut: It's implied in a few scenes that she has a crush on the Prince.
* CallingTheOldManOut: [[spoiler: When The Prince an his allies walk out on Lord Barrows, Luserina leaves with them; but not before telling her Father that she hopes that she ''never'' sees him again.]] Ouch.
* HairDecorations: She sports an alice band.
* ProperLady / SilkHidingSteel: She's sweet and graceful and apparently stays home while her dad and brother politic in the capital. However, if you talk around Rainwall, you'll find out that ''she'' is the one running the place (Salum admits this too, if you ask him about her). She also takes part in the coming battles as 'morale', in other words, encouraging them to victory.
* PurityPersonified: Looks the part and mostly acts the part, but she abandoned her family rather easily. (Although, given what they did, she may have some justification).
* ShipTease: Heavily implied to have feelings for the Prince.
* SiblingYinYang: Whereas she is demure, polite and kind, her brother Euram is foppish, spoilt and cowardly. [[spoiler: At least until his optional HeelFaceTurn.]]
* SpoiledSweet: Compared to her SmugSnake dad and UpperClassTwit brother, its amazing she turns out so helpful and kind.
* UglyGuysHotDaughter: Some characters can't believe they're related, and this is only ''one'' of the reasons.
* WhiteSheep: The complete opposite of her father.

!!Lady Barows

The wife of Lord Barows. After her older son's death during a civil war, she has refused to leave her room.

* TheGhost: She's holed up in her room when the Hero and his party arrive, and (rather creepily) never makes an appearance.
** DespairEventHorizon: The reason for the above was a result of the murder of her beloved older son, Hiram.
* TheUnreveal: The Prince never gets to meet her.

->Voiced by: Saijo Tenetsu (JP); Doug Stone (EN)

A large man who is entrusted with the protection of Lord Barows' vault.

* BagOfSharing: His speciality. He looks after the HQ warehouse, where all items and equipment can be dropped off, stored and retrieved when necessary.
* CannotSpitItOut: His infatuation for Luserina.
* DuelBoss: Fights a duel in Barows Manor [[spoiler: just before the Prince gets the Dawn Rune.]]
* DumbMuscle: He's not much of a thinker.
* TheGiant: He's ''huge''.
* GentleGiant: [[spoiler:The only time he fights is when he's been misled into believing that the prince is trying to steal Luserina's wedding present. Afterwards, he swears he never wants to get into a fight again.]]
* IOweYouMyLife: Luserina fed him when he was starving to death. As a result, he is incredibly loyal to her, [[spoiler: and leaves with her when she walks out on her father]].
* ManChild
* UndyingLoyalty: To Luserina.
* WolverineClaws: His weapon of choice, a vicious, spiked glove. Although after he fights the Prince, he swears off battle.

!!Boz Wilde
->Voiced by: Saijo Tenetsu (JP); Doug Stone (EN)

The Lord of Estrise. Boz is a boisterous man who becomes of the Prince's generals.

* AnAxeToGrind: Cutscenes of Boz in war show him with an axe.
* AnimeHair: He sports a huge mohican fin of hair.
* BadLiar: Sialeeds assures the Prince that Boz can be trusted because he sucks at lying.
* BoisterousBruiser: "Sometimes, justice is three feet of steel in your hands." That's his personality.
* ColonelBadass: Boz never shows a rank, but he is the traditional star of war leaders, and he's often spoken to in matters of war.
* HappilyMarried: NPC's will mention he has a wife named Donna and two boys. They get along great.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter:''Salum'' is one of his best friends.
* InformedAbility: He's apparently a good fighter. Since he's unable to be used outside of war battles, he never gets a chance to prove it.
* TheRival: To Dilber
* ThoseTwoGuys: He tries to get this dynamic started with the straitlaced Dinn, and he eventually semi-succeeds.

[[folder:Lucretia and her allies]]

!!Lucretia Merces
->Voiced by: Akane Sakai (JP)

An enigmatic strategist who was imprisoned following the Lordlake Rebellion.

* BiTheWay: She had a husband in the past, was Marscal's mistress, and is heavily implied to have a sexual relationship with Cius. However, she has the same relationship with Lelei, and is also hinted to have one with Cathari.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: She has a nigh-incomprehensible sense of humor, which includes giving an over the top AwesomeMcCoolName that's a sentence on its own to your castle when you first get it.
* ButNowIMustGo: Disappears at the end of the game. A conversation with the [[spoiler:dying]] Sialeeds remarks that the Prince now no longer has any need of her. [[spoiler:Quite possibly the reason why she leaves Cius, but lets Lelei comes with her.]]
* TheChessmaster: One of the series's premier examples.
* DarkSkinnedBlonde: She has the same look as the Karaya from ''Suikoden 3''. [[spoiler: Turns out this is because she ''is'' Karayan by blood, and went to Harmonia after her home was scorched by the True Fire Rune during the first Fire Bringer War.]]
* GiverOfLameNames: Nobody likes the overly long pseudo-poetic names she suggests for things like the army or the castle.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: It's revealed shortly after she's recruited that she used to be a Strategist for the Godwins, and betrayed them the moment she felt that serving them wasn't the right thing to do. In fact, the reason Arshtat sent her to the prison in the first place was to prevent the Godwins from executing her.]]
* TheMole: [[spoiler:Implied to have been one for Harmonia. Whether the reason why she hasn't reported in to her superiors since being released is because she's [[BecomingTheMask Become The Mask]] or because she's been distracted by the war is unknown.]]
* OddNameOut: She's one of the few Suikoden strategists who are not of the Silverberg lineage, the other being Shu in 2. And even ''with'' that, it should be noted that Shu was nevertheless the ''student'' of a Silverberg. Lucretia has no (known) connection at all.
* RescueArc: The Prince must bust her out of prison before she can be recruited.
* ShootTheDog: [[spoiler:She convinced Arshtat to take up the Sun Rune to prevent it from being stolen.]]
* ShoutOut: Her feather fan and overall look seems to be a fond nod to legendary strategist, [[VideoGame/DynastyWarriors Zhuge Liang]]. Not to mention her tactics.
* StrangeSyntaxSpeaker
* TheStrategist: The games makes it firmly clear that she's one of the absolute best in the whole series, and ''shows'' it in the actual battles she orchestrates, with planning bordering on precognition, just like the person she's based on.
* ThousandYardStare: Her portrait expression exhibits this when she is dishing out her strategic advice.

->Voiced by: Saki Nakajima (JP); Creator/StephanieSheh (EN)

One of the guards assigned to watch Lucretia's cell. In reality, she and her partner, Cius, have befriended Lucretia and are protecting her from assassins. Lucretia later trains her as a strategist.

* [[AmbiguouslyGay Ambiguously Lesbian]]: Though it's only ambiguous because its never explicitly stated.
* BackToBackBadasses: With Cius during their unite attack.
* BodyguardCrush: She protects Lucretia, and she falls for her.
* BoyishShortHair: Cius has more hair on his head than Lelei does.
* ButchLesbian|LipstickLesbian: She has traits of both. If nothing else, Lucretia ironically wears the pants in the relationship.
* LesbianCop: A correctional officer in a relationship with her female prisoner.
* LimaSyndrome: It's implied she fell for Lucretia while guarding her cell.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Cius. They get along well, but Lelei is only interested in women.
* RightHandHottie: Serves as Lucretia's adjutant.
* RoyalRapier: Carries a dignified weapon.
* StatuesqueStunner: However, she finds her height embarrassing and tends to stoop. This gets played for laughs in one of the bath scenes.
* TheStrategist: Is taking lessons from Lucretia, and she serves in this role when her mistress isn't around.
* TookALevelInBadass: [[spoiler:In her epilogue, she disappears with Lucretia and reemerges some time later as a genius strategist.]]
* UndyingLoyalty: To Lucretia.

->Voiced by: Takashi Akiyama (JP)

One of the guards assigned to watch Lucretia's cell. In reality, he and his partner, Lelei, have befriended Lucretia and are protecting her from assassins.

* BackToBackBadasses: With Lelei in their unite attack.
* TheChampion: To Lucretia.
* DaChief: Becomes this in the epilogue.
* TheFettered: He's an honorable sort who values duty above all else.
* LimaSyndrome: Downplayed when compared to Lelei, but Lucretia did win him over.
* MilitaryBrat: Hails from a long line of Doraat military men.
* OutOfFocus: Compared to Lelei, he gets very little attention and[=/=]development. [[spoiler: The epilogue reveals Lucretia and Lelei left him behind when they departed, leaving him temporarily depressed, though he rebounds and eventually comes to lead the Falenan Police Corps.]]
* PlatonicLifePartners: His relationship with Lelei is close, but completely non-sexual. After all, they both have an interest in the same woman.
* RoyalRapier: Wields this weapon.
* RulesLawyer: Annoyed by the flaunting of the rules and discipline, stressing that an army needs to be serious and firm.
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: He'll break rules for this reason only.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Lucretia.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Continuing a running gag in the series, he's a bit scared of ghosts.

->Voiced by: Chiaki Morita (JP)

A sniper who has come to Falena to find Lucretia.

* AwesomeButImpractical: She outrights admits that the biggest advantage of her gun is the shock/flash factor rather than its power and rattles off other flaws with it. Then she admitted she knew how to compensate for them.
* BadassCape
* TheGunslinger: With a huge sniper-rifle like gun.
* InTheHood: Although she doesn't put it over her head.
* KilledOffForReal: If the unit she is in during a War Battle is defeated, there is a chance she will die.
* MurderInc: [[spoiler:Like Clive of Suikoden 1 & 2 fame, she is a member of the Howling Voice Assassins Guild and trained there from birth. She is trying to find out why Lucretia hasn't reported in to her Harmonian superiors since she was freed from prison.]]
* MysteriousPast: Lucretia knows some of it, but she's not talking.
* ProfessionalKiller: She's an assassin.
* RuleOfCool: The outfit, the gun, the mysteriousness, etc.
* SniperRifle: Her weapon. Incidently, one of the few gun users in the Suikoden universe.
* SuperSpeed: Like Stallion and Cedric before her, she's the one who gives you the ability to run like the wind across the world map.

[[folder:The Oboro Detective Agency]]

The eccentric leader of the Oboro detective agency.

* AintTooProudToBeg: Much to Raven's fury, as he can't tell whether or not he's being serious.
* AtonementDetective: [[spoiler: Used to be the head of Nether Gate's Intelligence Division, where he was known as Shinatsu. Following its disbandment, he took Sagiri and Shigure and has tried to give them a normal life.]]
* BatmanGambit: His role in the Battle of Doraat: He spreads rumors that the Godwins will torch the town [[spoiler: as they did to Lelcar. Shigure and Sagiri set small fires]] to make it scare the citizens and they'll support the Prince. [[spoiler: It works.]]
* CoolBoat: Oboro's office is actually a ship that sails up and down the Feitas river.
* CovertPervert: Some of his observations are... questionable.
* CutenessProximity: He trains mice to help him tail people. He has several mice working for him, but he never explains just how he trains them.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler: He worked in intelligence in Nether Gate. Upon their initial disbandment, he took Shigure and Sagiri with him to try and "deprogram" their assassin training.]]
* DefusingTheTykebomb: [[spoiler:Has been working on this for Shigure and Sagiri.]]
* GottaCatchEmAll: See below.
** GuideDangIt: Recruiting him can be tricky; you have to make the 'correct' choices while [[spoiler: helping him investigate Norden]]. Do the sequence correctly, and he'll join the first time you ask. For each point you miss/mess up on, however, you have to ask him an extra time, and you can only ask at certain points in gameplay. Wait too long, and they leave the area for good before you can convince him.
* InformationDesk: His specialty. Like Richmond before him, he can be recruited (for a small fee) to find out the whereabouts of as yet recruited characters, although a certain amount of FigureItOutYourself is also required.
* KnowledgeBroker: As well as letting the hero know the location of potential recruits, he can also investigate current team-mates, offering fun trivia but also useful game information about pairings for unite attacks, for example.
* MindScrew: His entry in the official strategy guide:
--> "This is the type of thing you want to be doing. When and if you have the time and the inclination for such things. This is a great idea. Sometimes a pony gets depressed. Get a load of this view and it's the best in the west. All the young dudes carry the news. This is the type of thing you want to be doing. When and if you have the time and inclination."
* MonochromaticEyes
* MyCard: One of his trademarks is handing these out, hoping that the practice will catch on as well as drive up more business.
* PrivateDetective: His skill set certainly made this an easy career move.
* TeamDad: For the detective agency.
* TheRival: With Raven, who he refers to as "Crow".

A member of the Oboro detective agency. Unlike her co-workers, Fuyo is a relatively ordinary person.

* BettingMiniGame: She runs the tile game "Feitas", which can be played to win potch.
* [[BobFromAccounting Babs From Accounting]]: Oboro's secretary, and a merchant's daughter; she was the agency's very first client, and joined after seeing how incredibly disorganized they were. She now handles the clerical, accounting, and organizational duties of the business.
* GlassesGirl: And quite intelligent.
* GirlishPigtails: Cascading ringlets that make her look much younger than her real age.
* OjouRinglets: Combined with MegaTwintails for added cuteness!
* OlderThanTheyLook: She looks like a high-schooler. She's actually 32.
* PuniPlush: And Haswar can't get enough.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: She'd have to, in order to keep a business running [[spoiler: and take it over after Oboro departs to Nagarea.]]
* TeamMom: For the detective agency.

->Voiced by: Takeo Irie (JP); Creator/MichaelMcConnohie (EN)

A lazy ([[BrilliantButLazy but very skilled]]) member of the Oboro Detective Agency.

* BackToBackBadasses: With Sagiri in their Unite Attack.
* BettingMiniGame: He serves as the Intermediate opponent for Linfa's Blind Man's Bluff, and is a savvier and more difficult to read opponent than she is.
* BlindingBangs: Fuyo wants him to cut them back, but so far no go. [[spoiler: Probably has MonochromaticEyes behind them.]]
* BrilliantButLazy: Oboro and Fuyo remark that he's very good at what he does, but he's really lazy.
* [[PapaWolf Brother Wolf]]: For all his complaining, you don't want to threaten his family.
* CatchPhrase: "What a pain..."
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: When not lazy, he's damn good with a knife.
* GratuitousNinja: He's one in all but name.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: A clever instance: during his first appearance, he [[spoiler: comments that he recognizes Lyon, which Sagiri affirms]], but it's phrased in such a way that it sounds like [[spoiler: he's hitting on her]].
* GrumpyBear: With his catchphrase being "What a pain"
* LightningBruiser: Among the highest speed in the game, and he hits hard.
* MeaningfulName[=/=]ThemeNaming: Shigure means 'short autumn rainfall' in Japanese, and all of his weapons are named for the weather.
* OnlySaneMan: How he tends to view himself compared to the rest of the agency.

->Voiced by: Akiko Muta (JP);

A member of the Oboro Detective Agency. Sagiri has a creepy smile which never seems to fade.

* BackToBackBadasses; With Shigure in their Unite Attack.
* DeathSeeker: [[spoiler:Wouldn't mind if Nakula kills her; if he dies in a war battle, she even writes to the Prince wondering why she didn't die instead.]]
* EarnYourHappyEnding: [[spoiler: She does. It's revealed that that damn smile begins to fade after the events of the game.]]
* GuideDangIt: She won't join at the same time as the other members; she won't ''officially'' get her name on that Tablet unless the prince goes through another recruitment sequence that is easy to miss.
* PleaseKillMeIfItSatisfiesYou: [[spoiler:Says this to Nakula.]]
* MeaningfulName[=/=]ThemeNaming: Her name means 'light fog'.
* MonochromaticEyes: It makes her quite unsettling.
* ThePromise: A dark take. [[spoiler: At the end of the game, Nakula promises he will return to Falena to kill Sagiri after dealing with the Nether Gate forces left in Nagarea. She accepts.]]
* PsychoticSmirk [[spoiler:albeit, unintentionally]]
* ShrinkingViolet: She dislikes violence by nature.
* StepfordSmiler: [[spoiler: Was brainwashed to smile while she killed, and had it so severely drilled into her that she's ''always'' smiling.]]

[[folder:Rune Masters]]

->Voiced by: Creator/JunkoMinagawa (JP); Carol Stanzione (EN)

An enigmatic woman who is concerned with Falena's three runes.

* TheArchmage: She's one of, if not ''the'' best magic users in the game and wields the powerful Star Rune.
* BadassLongRobe: Cascades to the floor.
* FlechetteStorm: She hurls needle-like darts in combat.
* GameBreaker: Invoked. To quote a rather amusing comment from a walkthrough; "If you equip her with a Magic Absorb Rune on her right hand and a Flowing Rune on her left, the game will basically just give up and let you win."
* GoodIsNotNice: She's not evil, and gives some helpful advice. But she is a gigantic bitch.
* {{Jerkass}}: She get better around the last moments of the game, though only to the prince.
* MysteriousPast: She is acquainted with Jeane and Leknaat, which is intriguing and throws up even more questions about who or ''what'' she is.
** Not to mention her connection to the Night Rune, better known to fans of the previous games as the Star Dragon Sword. Her Star Rune is the unique "offspring" of the Night Rune.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: She's mysterious, possibly non-human, and her skin doesn't lose its paleness when she's taking a bath.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: Possibly, given her connection to the above mentioned characters.
* SourSupporter: She doesn't think much of anyone, although [[CharacterDevelopment she does come around]].
* TheSnarkKnight: From her introduction, and she doesn't let up.
* StarPower: Her [[DiscOneNuke Star Rune]], of course.
* StealthHiBye: She has a bad habit of showing up, insulting everyone who so much as breathes in her general direction, and disappearing just as quickly.
* TheStoic: She's very icy and aloof.
** NotSoStoic: When confronted by the idea of the Dawn or Twilight Runes being held by an unworthy host. [[spoiler:Or when her group is about to be attacked by someone who ''is'' worthy, like Sialeeds.]]
--->[[OhCrap "Heaven help us..."]]
* TallDarkAndSnarky: Only Sialeeds snarks more than her.
* WitchSpecies: Hinted at.

->Voiced by: Touka Ooura (JP)

An enigmatic girl who has an unknown connection to the Ancient Armes Kingdom.

* ChildMage: In appearance, but this could be deceptive if she is (as is implied) of the same group as Jeane.
* DeathIsCheap: [[spoiler:If she's killed in a war battle, Jeane hints that she will eventually come back, although she never does during the game.]]
* KilledOffForReal: If the unit she is in is killed during a War Battle, there is a chance she will die.
* MagicWand: She wields the Ner-Gal staff.
* {{Miko}}: She wears the robes of the Nagarean clergy. Robes implying a rank that would be impossible to obtain at her apparent age.
* MutuallyExclusivePartyMembers: She shares a Star of Destiny with [[spoiler:Euram]]. Recruiting one prevents you from recruiting the others. Some consider her more useful than [[spoiler: Euram]], though she is definitely harder to recruit.
* MysteriousPast: Like Zerase, she is also acquainted with Jeane, who refers to Eresh as her "comrade".
* MysteriousWaif: Canon-wise, she is potentially even more powerful than the legendary Jeane, as only she can penetrate the very lower levels of the ancient Armes ruins in the Big Hole.
* NoMouth: The lower half of her face is obscured by her veil.
* RobeAndWizardHat: Although unusual since it's on a woman.
* StrangeSyntaxSpeaker: She has a peculiar manner of speech and is a ThirdPersonPerson.

->Voiced by: Creator/YukoKaida (JP); Creator/MaryElizabethMcGlynn (EN)

A skilled rune mistress who wears very revealing clothing. She ([[ShrugOfGod or maybe]] [[InexplicablyIdenticalIndividuals she and her relatives]]) has appeared in every game in the main series.

See Characters/SuikodenRecurringCharacters.

->Voiced by: Aya Ookura (JP); Creator/WendeeLee (EN)

See Characters/SuikodenRecurringCharacters.

->Voiced by: Masaru Ikeda (JP)

A skilled mage who is studying a mysterious hole in the ground.

* TheArchmage: He is not as powerful as some of the other mages (Zerase, for example) but he's still nothing to scoff at.
* BadassGrandpa: He has the look.
** BadassLongRobe: Just like Zerase.
* TheBeastmaster: He wields the Blue Gate Rune, a rune used to summon monsters from another world to attack enemies.
* EarthShatteringKaboom: He claims to have created the 'Big Hole' in order to have his apprentice Bergen mine there for materials that may be of use for his research.
* GrumpyOldMan: He's not what you'd call "nice."
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He comes across as very gruff and irritable, but does (albeit to further his research) agree to help Norma find a cure for Ernst's lycanthropy.
* KidSidekick: Bergen, who he treats fairly shabbily, but keeps him interested with the promise furthering his training.
* MagicWand: He wields the The Viper Staff.
* TheProfessor: He's an expert on rune magic, but dislikes the term "wizard" and refers to himself as a "magic rune scholar".
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: Which makes him a good candidate to help recruit Genoh, along with his high level when he's recruited.
* TalkingWeapon: The snake motif on his staff is actually a ''real'' snake.
** SpeaksFluentAnimal: With whom he holds regular conversations (in snake!). Also comes in handy to possibly help recruit Byakuren.
* TimeToUnlockMoreTruePotential: His speciality. Has the Tutor skill that allows magic training anywhere.
* WitchSpecies: Possibly.

->Voiced by: Goblin (JP); Creator/TaliesinJaffe (EN)

An archaeologist studying the Sindar.

* AdjustingYourGlasses: His victory pose.
* AdventurerArchaeologist: Like Lorelai and Killey, he represents yet another party fascinated by Sindar Ruins.
* BadassBookworm: One of the reasons Lucretia sought him out.
* MadScientistLaboratory: He had a secret laboratory somewhere in Falena where he kept all of his research materials on the Sindar, but denied its existence to Lorelai constantly.
* NerdsAreSexy: A number of NPC's think so, and the bath scene shows he's got a fair amount of definition for a bookworm.
* OlderThanTheyLook: He looks around his late twenties, but he's almost forty.
* TheProfessor: He is arguably the most knowledgeable of the trio, with both the Godwins and Lucretia vying for his expert advice on the mysteries of the Ceras Lake ruins.

[[folder:The Dragon Cavalry and their allies]]

The leader of the Dragon Cavalry.

* BadassLongCoat
* TheBeastMaster: Like with all Dragon horse riders.
** DragonRider: His speciality, as the head of the Dragon Cavalry.
* CavalryOfficer: Leads the amphibious Dragon Cavalry.
* FourStarBadass: Of the Dragon Calvary in general, and one of three five-star commanders in the whole game.
* HonoraryUncle: To Miakis. He was good friends with her father.
* TeamSwitzerland: As head of the Dragon Cavalry, he only swears allegiance to the rivers of Falena, and such, does not involve himself in any of the internal conflicts, only going into battle against foreign invasions. This causes friction initially between Rahal, Roog and he when Armes invades and they try to rally him to the Prince's cause.
** HostageSituation: [[spoiler:However, it's soon discovered that his inaction is because the Godwins are holding the dragon eggs and foals hostage.]]
** FireForgedFriends: However, following a RescueArc courtesy of his Dragon Knights and the Prince, he rallies to the Prince's cause.
** ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: If you choose not to do the RescueArc, he does this and comes to your aid anyway.
* SternTeacher: He is the last of the traditional commanders, strictly keeping with the traditions of barring female riders, though by the end of the game he starts to seriously question that stricture.
* TheStoic: When compared to the HotBlooded Roog and TheSpock Rahal.
* TeamDad: The other members of the cavalry certainly think so.

->Voiced by: Koichi Toochika (JP); Creator/KirkThornton (EN)

A calm member of the Dragon Calvary.

* AmbiguouslyGay: He protests that his lack of success with women is due to having to deal with Roog all the time, although Roog claims he hears it's because Rahal has "issues". Also, he apparently keeps a set of his sister's clothes handy at all times.
* BashBrothers: With Roog.
* {{Bishounen}}: One of the best examples in the whole series.
* TheBeastMaster: With dragonhorses.
** DragonRider: His speciality, as a commander of the Dragon Cavalry. His dragon is named Flail.
* CavalryOfficer: [[spoiler: And Craig Laden's successor post-game. He allows women riders into the ranks of the Dragon Cavalry.]]
* DisguisedInDrag: He makes ''such'' a convincing woman that he is able to distract and knock out the guards in [[NoWomansLand male-only Gordius village]] during the rescue of the dragon foals.
** AttractiveBentGender: The Godwin soldiers are helpless in the face of his beauty.
** EvenTheGuysWantHim: Even Roog thinks about it!

* PragmaticHero: He's perfectly fine with using his beauty as a weapon.
* RedOniBlueOni: He's the blue to Roog's red and even ColorCodedForYourConvenience.
* RescueArc: He helped uncover Godwin's plot to hold the dragon horse eggs hostage, which were later secured by the Dragon Knights and the Prince's party.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: He looks ''uncannily'' similar to his sister, Rania, to the point where they sometimes switch clothes to play tricks on others.

->Voiced by: Daisuke Kita (JP); Eddie Frierson (EN)

A hotblooded member of the Dragon Calvary.

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Whilst not bad looking at all, he often feels in Rahal's shadow, as the ''second'' best-looking Dragon Knight.
* AmazonChaser: He is attracted to Miakis because she beat up most of the boys in their hometown when they were kids.
* BashBrothers: With Rahal.
* TheBeastMaster: Toussled with his dragonhorse for a whole day to be worthy of riding him.
* BigEater: He'll eat anything. It's the one thing that he differs from his PickyEater mount.
** DragonRider: His speciality, as a commander of the Dragon Cavalry. His dragon is named Lance.
* CavalryOfficer: Usually on a dragonhorse, but he's good with regular horses too.
* HeroesPreferSwords: He wields a katana called ''Angaturama'', which is (suitably) [[MeaningfulName named after]] a kind of carnivorous dinosaur, similar to a ''Spinosaurus''.
* HotBlooded: Especially compared to Rahal.
* NumberTwo: Takes over from Miakis to go to Gordius, since women aren't permitted there. Miakis resumes after the battle is over.
* RedOniBlueOni: He's the red to Rahal's blue and even ColorCodedForYourConvenience.
* RescueArc: He helped uncover Godwin's plot to hold the dragon horse eggs hostage, which were later secured by the Dragon Knights and the Prince's party.

* AdorablyPrecociousChild: He's plucky, brave and resourceful.
* TheBeastMaster: An apprentice, at least.
** DragonRider: His speciality, as a trainee of the Dragon Cavalry. His dragon is named Ax.
* BrilliantButLazy: He's top of his class when it comes to fighting, but slacks off with his flute practise and is a pretty terrible player. [[spoiler: Gets played with hilariously in the dragon RescueArc, as his playing is so terrible that the hostaged dragons went berserk.]]
* ContrivedCoincidence: His heroism in the dragon egg RescueArc stemmed from his horrible flute playing. [[spoiler: The dragons began bleating loudly to get him to stop, and as their squawking cries were so loud and horrible, Dolph couldn't keep focused, allowing Georg to get between Dolph and the eggs, saving them.]]
* CuteButCacophonic: When he plays his flute.
* DreadfulMusician: His flute playing is awful.
* HeroesPreferSwords: He wields a katana called ''Komodo's Claw'', keeping with the reptilian theme.

* HorseOfADifferentColor: Amphibious, for starters.
* OfficialCouple: With Lance.
* SingingVoiceDissonance: Despite her fearsome appearance, she has a sweet melodious alto voice.
* YouSexyBeast: She is a female dragon horse who is apparently very pretty and desired by all of the male horses.

Roog's dragon.

* BerserkButton: He tends to go wild when Roog isn't about, only calming when he re-appears. Poor Mohnsen...
* BondCreatures: He is Roog's mount.

* [[FarmBoy Stable Boy]]: His job with the dragon knights.
* NiceGuy: The nicest person in the cavalry, and in the running for nicest kid in Falena.

* RacingMinigame: His specialty, once recruited. He runs the Dragon Horse Race game, which can be played to earn potch.
* RescueArc: He helps Nick out with the rescue of the dragon eggs from the Godwins.

* AntiquatedLinguistics: One of many things that sets her
* BattleThemeMusic: Having her in the active party alters the battle music to a more woodwind themed variation.
* CloudCuckoolander: She's fairly eccentric, often talking about the beautiful and strange sounds she hears around her such as the men's bath. Apparently, she's got perfect pitch.
* MagicalFlutist: She creates the magic flutes that the dragon knights use to control their mounts, which are inaudible to humans, except herself.
* {{Meganekko}}: The main way to tell the difference between Rania and Rahal disguised as Rania.
* MusicAndSoundEffects: Her speciality, once recruited she can change the in-game sound effects.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: She bears an ''uncanny'' resemblance to her brother, Rahal, and the pair often swap clothes to play tricks on people.
* SuperSenses: She is exceptional in that she can actually hear the calls of the dragon horses, and the commands from the flutes she makes. This makes her flutes extremely popular.

[[folder:The Maximillian Knights]]

->Voiced by: Saki Nakajima (JP)

A member of the Maximillian Knights. Isabel is obsessed with spreading justice to the world.

* ActionGirl: A stern and steadfast one, one of the best examples in the series.
* BreastPlate: Which more than one person comments upon.
* CoolSword : Sort of, it's more of a big retractable... lance?
* TheCape: She's incredibly just and will do whatever possible to do what is right.
** ForGreatJustice: Her maxim. She is intent on being worthy of calling herself "The heir to the Maximillian Knights' aspirations." It's deeper than it sounds because she considers what she does to be evil as well, because violence is inherently evil, and hopes to remove more evil than she creates.
* ContinuityNod: She and Mathias are ''Suikoden 5's'' take on the classic Maximillian and Sancho pairing from ''Suikoden 1''.
* DeathGlare: As seen in her "conceit" unite attack with Zerase and Cathari, where they stare down the enemy and walk right into them for 1.3x damage.
* {{Determinator}}: She gets where she's going through sheer willpower. Everything else is secondary.
* FieryRedhead: Energetic and bright fire-engine red hair. Check.
* FourStarBadass: For the Maximillian Knights and subsequently, the prince.
* HeroicSpirit: as with the below trope, par for the course for anyone associated with the Maximillian Knights
* HotBlooded: Her driving force in life is to vanquish evil and she's very passionate about it.
* KilledOffForReal: If the unit she is in during a War Battle is defeated, there's a chance she will die.
* KnightInShiningArmor: She believes in the ideals of chivalry.
* LeotardOfPower: Funnily enough, this is actually addressed, with her claiming that it aids her movement.
* PrinciplesZealot: Her absolute ''obsession'' with stamping out all evil is PlayedForLaughs.

->Voiced by: Daisuke Kita (JP)

A member of the Maximillian Knights and Isabel's bodyguard.

* TheCape: Like Isabel, he is incredibly just and will do whatever possible to do what is right.
** ForGreatJustice: Like the woman he serves, another requirement for being a Maximillian Knight.
* CatchPhrase: He repeats one line (with minor changes) throughout the game, constantly talking about "finding evil, and then enacting swift and final retribution and depositing their loathsome corpses into (a body of water)."
* ChasteHero: See below trope.
* {{Determinator}}
* DevotedToYou: He is ''utterly'' devoted to Isabel.
* ICallItVera: As expected, he calls his [[BladeOnAStick pike]] "Isabel" in honor of his mistress. Additionally, as he comes from the Warrior's Village, the significance of naming it "Isabel" may very well not just be a mark of loyalty to his mistress, but a convention that is reserved almost always for women they ''love.'' Isabel herself also gives hints at this, if only ''just'' barely.
* KilledOffForReal: If the unit he is in during a War Battle is defeated, there is a chance he will die.
* KnightInShiningArmor: He wears a ''full'' suit of armor and has the classic look of a medieval chivalrous knight.
* MrFanservice: Although he's particularly oblivious to it.
* NumberTwo: He is Isabel's loyal adjutant (or some would say, slave).
* PlatonicLifePartners: Despite his devotion to Isabel, he is not romantically interested in her (or at least, not that he'll admit). His devotion has to do with Isabel as a person, not a woman, and would serve her just as he does currently if she were a man. He and Isato (who takes a similar view to his service to Haswar) clarify this for Dinn in an optional bath scene.
* PrinciplesZealot: Like Isabel, his absolute ''obsession'' with stamping out all evil is PlayedForLaughs.
* RunningGag: All the times he claims he would enact swift and final retribution on those who would harm or even insult his lady Isabel, then deposit their loathsome corpses into the nearest body of water.
* TheStoic: Even with corpse disposal, he never raises his voice.
* UndyingLoyalty: He serves Lady Isabel faithfully and devotedly, claiming he would exact swift and final retribution on anyone who dare raise a sword or even insult Lady Isabel. And deposit their loathsome corpses into the nearest body of water, naturally.

[[folder:The Lindwurm Mercenary Brigade]]

->Voiced by: Ryo Wakabayashi (JP); Creator/KirkThornton (EN)

The leader of the Lindwurm Mercenary Brigade. Also a pervert.

* AllMenArePerverts: He joins the Prince's cause mostly to gain access to the lovely ladies at the HQ.
* BoisterousBruiser: He's the life of the party.
* CavalryOfficer: Once recruited.
* TheCasanova: Of the predatory type, he joins the Prince only if Viki, Faylen or Norma are present in the active party. He is particularly taken with [[LustObject Lyon]]. She's not happy to say the least.
* ColonelBadass: Runs a group of about 5,000 mercs.
* FieryRedhead: Although his in-game depiction and portrait have [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair rather pink-ish hair]], he's depicted in official art as a redhead.
* HopelessSuitor: For Lyon.
* LovableRogue: He skims the line between mercenary and actual bandit.
* PrivateMilitaryContractors: He is a leader of a unit within the Lindwurm Mercenary Brigade.
* PunchClockHero: Slightly more hero than clock, he looks forward to peace even though it means less work for him.
* RedOniBlueOni: He's the ''definite'' red to Mueller's blue.

->Voiced by: Hasanori Koyatsu (JP); Creator/JamiesonPrice (EN)

Wilhelm's right hand man. Mueller is considerably less personal than his boss.

* CavalryOfficer: Once recruited.
* TheGiant: He's unbelievably tall, with a towering columnular frame.
* MarriedToTheJob
* NumberTwo: He's Wilhelm's adjutant.
* PrivateMilitaryContractors: He is 2nd in command of a unit within the Lindwurm Mercenary Brigade.
* PunchClockHero: Even more so then Wilhelm. He'll tell you to your face they'll back out if they're not paid.
* RedOniBlueOni: He's the blue to Wilhelm's red.
* SergeantRock: He stands for no nonsense within the ranks, and uses an ''iron rod'' to discipline his troops. He's still well respected.
** StopHavingFunGuys: To his troops and the rest of the army.
* TheStoic: His image is always stoic and he never responds to emotions.

->Voiced by: Creator/AiOrikasa (JP); Creator/MonaMarshall (EN)

Mueller's airheaded pupil / adopted son. He is also one of the best swordsmen in the world.

* AbusiveParents: Abused from a young age, he was saved when Mueller killed his tyrannical father.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: He's so laid-back and easygoing, no one would know he's a seriously ''amazing'' fighter.
* GladiatorGames: He took part in the Sacred Games after Mueller joked he should try, but lost after being drugged by a piece of candy a small child in the audience gave him.
* HeroWorshipper: Mueller can do no wrong in his eyes.
** SingleTargetSexuality: His complete and utter idolization of Mueller verges on more than just admiration.
* IOweYouMyLife: He is utterly indebted to Mueller and follows him wherever he goes.
* LightningBruiser: He's swift, fairly strong, and wields his sword effortlessly, as seen in the battles.
* MasterSwordsman: Amongst the best, if not ''the'' best in the game.
* NiceGuy: Every line of dialogue is either encouragement to the Prince, or praise of Mueller.
* PrivateMilitaryContractors: He's a swordsman of the Lindwurm Mercenary Brigade.
* PunchClockHero: As with Mueller above, naturally.
* TheRedBaron: He goes by the name of "Blademaster", and he's worthy of it.
* WellDoneSonGuy: Towards Mueller, as opposed to his [[AbusiveParents abusive father]], of course.

[[folder:Babbage's Crew]]

->Voiced by: Issei Futamata (JP); Creator/KirkThornton (EN)

An eccentric inventor living in Estrise.

* AbsentMindedProfessor: He is inept at housekeeping and totally reliant on Sorensen, who he ostensibly forgets to thank for this hard work.
* AnachronismStew: His contribution to the Prince's army is inventing an ''elevator''.
* ClockPunk: His speciality is clockwork mechanica.
* TheEngineer: If it runs with a gear, he's your dude.
** MrFixIt: Although he doesn't work alone.
** GadgeteerGenius: As an inventor, his passion in life is gears and levers.
* EverythingsBetterWithSpinning: He loves gears because of this.
* MadScientist: His motivation can be summed up as ForScience!
* MagnumOpus: The Revolving Bridge connecting the Barows territory in Rainwall is his in-universe masterpiece.
* ScaryShinyGlasses: His appearance is a little disturbing, especially his creepy pinwheel glasses, which lend him an UncannyValley vibe.
* ShoutOut: He is named after Charles Babbage, a 19th century British mathematician, philosopher, mechanical engineer, and proto-computer scientist who originated the idea of a programmable computer.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: The only character with technical knowhow, and has a pair of really thick coke-bottles.

->Voiced by: Chiaki Morita (JP); Creator/WendeeLee (EN)

Babbage's beleaguered assistant.

* AnachronismStew: His weapon is quite advanced for the time period.
** ImprobableWeaponUser: In Suikoden's medieval setting, he wields a mechanical arm blasted from a barrel in combat.
* TheApprentice: He is Babbage's eager assistant.
* DemotedToExtra: Complains that Lu is stealing the post of Babbage's apprentice away from him.
* HyperCompetentSidekick: He needs to be!
* NiceGuy: He's sweet, kind and loyal.
* UndyingLoyalty: He respects Babbage from the bottom of his heart, and has near unlimited patience with his unusual teacher.
* WideEyedIdealist: Bless him.
* YouthfulFreckles: Although his facial portrait makes him look a lot different.

->Voiced by: Akiko Muta (JP);

Babbage's other, much more eccentric, assistant.

* TheApprentice: She is Babbage's other assistant, but has no real technical knowledge or even a formal apprenticeship. She just likes seeing his inventions in action.
* AutomaticCrossbows: She wields a quad crossbow in combat. Which stylistically resembles a ''Tommy gun''.
* CloudCuckoolander: Among other things, she thinks Jeane became beautiful by "blasting the ugly" with her magic.
* CutenessProximity: Gushes over the beautiful and "kewl" mechanical horse in the Revolving Bridge. [[spoiler: Until it tries to attack her.]]
* TheDitz: Oh God yes. She manages to trash Babbage's office and lose an ultra rare gear just "looking around".
* DumbIsGood: Never anything but nice. And dim as a smoldering ember.
* GenkiGirl: Those around her tend to find her indefatigable pep slightly exhausting.
* GogglesDoNothing: She doesn't even wear them.
* SexyJester: Her outfit has a definite clownish feel, complete with over-large buttons and diamond patterned leggings.
* {{Tricksters}}: Like Noah before her, she wields the Mischief Rune.
* ValleyGirl: Her vibe, complete with incessant amounts of "kewl!!" (cool!).
* VerbalTic: "Keeeewl!" She also uses a ''lot'' of sound effects in her speech.

->Voiced by: Hisako Kyouda (JP); Creator/BarbaraGoodson (EN)

The mayor of Raftfleet and a retired Admiral of the Falenan Navy. She comes out of retirement to help the Prince.

* APupilOfMineUntilHeTurnedToEvil: Bahram Luger was her student. When Godwin took over the navy, he followed.
* TheCaptain: As a former Admiral of the Queen's Royal Navy, she lends the Prince her naval skills, helping him to victory at Hatred Fortress and the Sol-Falena dam.
* CoolBoat: She commands Raftfleet from a giant, triple dragon-headed warship named Dahak.
* CoolOldLady: She's capable and intelligent without being condescending. Arshtat points out that having her as a friend would be a great benefit.
* CulturedBadass: Very fond of tea parties.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: Her abilities were not recognized during the war because she was a member of the 'lower class'. {{Subverted}} when she rose to Admiral after the war.
* FourStarBadass: She's a VERY good admiral.
* NeverMessWithGranny: Her appointment as Admiral wasn't through nepotism...
* RedBaron: "Hurricane Raja", due to her prowess at war.
* SpotOfTea: She is a big fan of tea parties and often invites older folk like Talgeyl and Sairoh to these civilised events.

->Voiced by: Touka Ooura (JP); Creator/LiaSargent (EN)

Logg's slightly more level headed daughter.

* ActionGirl: A mixture of her parents; decent at both melee with a harpoon and decent in magic, especially Fire and Water.
* BadassFamily: Daughter in one.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Brown eyes and hair.
* DoesNotLikeShoes: They'd probably get ruined, considering Lun spends a lot of time in the water.
* DragonRider: [[spoiler:Breaking through the gender barrier in the process.]]
* FishingMinigame: One of the competitors, and tends to spend most of it snarking at Subala.
* HarpoonGun: She hurls fishing harpoons in combat.
* LittleMissSnarker: Her father's daughter, through and through.
* LovableRogue: Gets caught stealing when you first meet, but you find out she's actually not a bad person at all.
* NotSoDifferent: PlayedForLaughs; she's more like Daddy than she wants to admit.
* {{Sarashi}}: She sports a traditional Japanese body wrap. Which does very little to hold down her [[BuxomIsBetter large breasts]].
* ThoseTwoGuys: With Logg.
* {{Tomboy}}: Less so than Subala, but she still exhibits this.

->Voiced by: Masaru Ikeda (JP)

A simple minded fisherman. Logg uses his boat to transport the Prince around the Feitas river.

* AnchorsAway: He wields the Shenzhen Iron Anchor.
* BadassFamily: Father in one.
* BumblingDad: He tries not to be, but he's a little too eager and a little too dim and things just don't go well.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Eventually, you learn [[spoiler: he used to smuggle fugitives. Also remember that this is the guy who destroyed a dam by [[RammingAlwaysWorks crashing several explosive boats at its supports]]...''personally''. Looks like there's a reason Kisara marries him after all]].
* FishingMinigame: His speciality. A fisherman by trade, he naturally competes in it.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: His WeaponOfChoice is an anchor.
* LovableRogue: BigFun and friendly, but he's also a human smuggler, albeit a benign one.
* MightyGlacier: Slow as a rock, but that anchor hits hard.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Inverted. Logg and Lun look almost completely disimilar. Gunde doesn't even believe Logg has a daughter until Lun opens her mouth. That convinces him.
* ThoseTwoGuys: With his daughter Lun.
* UglyGuyHotWife: In-universe: his wife is considered so smoking hot that people knew of her outside Raftfleet, and she seemingly didn't show any interest in Logg until she abruptly announced they were marrying, provoking other men of Raftfleet into all but ''attacking'' him out of jealousy.
* ZanyScheme: He comes up with these pretty quickly.

->Voiced by: Yoko Sasaki (JP)

Logg's wife and Raja's right hand. She keeps her husband and daughter in line.

* ActionMom: And mom-type, to Subala and the rest of Raftfleet.
* AlmightyMom: Both Logg and Lun do NOT want to cross her.
* BadassFamily: Mother in one.
* BlackMagicianGirl: High magical skills and skilled with all types of magic.
* CloserToEarth: Compared to her far wackier husband and daughter.
* EpicFlail: She wields a large length of heavy docking rope in combat.
* GagBoobs: Each of her breasts are quite a bit bigger than her own head.....
* HelloNurse: When she was young, she was the desire of all the men in Raftfleet and beyond.
* InnocentInnuendo: Possibly, depending on how you read her FuroScene conversation with Lun and Subala. She may be fully aware of what it sounds like and teasing both of them.
* NumberTwo: She's is the Vice-admiral of Raftfleet and serves as Admiral Raja's aide and second-in-command.
* WhatDoesSheSeeInHim: She keeps this very much a secret and indeed, the announcement of her engagement to Logg lead to him receiving ''death threats''. [[spoiler: The fact that he rammed a flaming, explosive boat ''personally'' against a dam without breaking a sweat might have something to do with it.]]

->Voiced by: Yoko Sasaki (JP)

Lun's best friend / rival and a talented fisherwoman.

* ACupAngst: Has gone from being Lun's friend to her rival based in part on this.
* AmbiguousGender: At first glance, she looks far more like an adolescent ''boy'' than a girl. The Prince can make the mistake.
* AnimeHair: She sports Dragon Ball Z style spikes.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: The Prince must best her in a fishing contest if she is to join.
* {{FanGirl}}: She's instantly smitten with the Prince.

* TheRival: With Lun, on a variety of matters. Boyfriends, fishing ability, and even boob size.
* {{Sarashi}}
* SecondHandStorytelling: Lun allegedly stole her boyfriend, which kicked off their rivalry, although Lun has no memory of this.
* {{Tomboy}}: ''Definitely''.

A skilled merchant living out his retirement in Raftfleet.

* ChinesePeople: Complete with conical straw hat and sake gourd.
* CoolOldGuy: The people of Raftfleet love his skills as a trader.
* IntrepidMerchant: In his youth he was a legendary trader, and once recruited, sets up a trading post at the HQ.
* ChainOfDeals: For him to join, it is necessary to buy out the salt in other trading posts so the price sky-rockets. He will then ask how the Prince will rectify this. Sell at least 6 salts immediately to reduce the price. He then joins immediately, [[SoProudOfYou impressed with the young Prince's business acumen.]]
* GuideDangIt: Like a few other characters in ''5'', his recruitment process is particularly [[TrialAndErrorGameplay specific]]. Stockpiling salt before undertaking his recruitment will help immensely.
* MysteriousPast: Hinted to have shady dealings in the past. That could be why his son and daughter-in-law were killed.
* PromotionToParent: He has taken care of Shinro, his grandson, since the death of his son and daughter-in-law.
* TenMinuteRetirement: He comes back in when there is a crisis, as salt is a valuable commodity. He also helps out Shinro after the came ends.

Sairoh's grandson. Shinro seeks to follow in his grandfather's footsteps.

* ChinesePeople: Has the look.
* NiceGuy: The worst emotion he expresses is slight annoyance with Godwin's lack of interest in commerce.
* PerpetualSmiler: He's quite cheerful.
* RaisedByGrandparents: He was taken in by his grandpa Sairoh, following the death of his parents.
* SignatureDevice: He's never without his trusty abacus.
* StoutStrength: Oboro is amazed that he uses a gigantic abacus to count change, and reasons Shinro must be incredibly strong.
* WeBuyAnything: Sell any item and he'll give a fair price. The only thing he won't deal in is trade goods.
* WeSellEverything: Once recruited, his item store carries any item that has been found available in any other item store already visited by the Prince, though of course there is NoHeroDiscount.
* WellDoneSonGuy: He wants to be just as good a merchant as Sairoh. Although a less malignant example: Sairoh is infinitely helpful.

A skilled chef who has devoted his life to looking after his daughter, Shun Min.

See Characters/SuikodenRecurringCharacters.

!!Shun Min

Retso's beloved daughter and assistant.

* CheerfulChild: Sweet and lovely.
* ChineseGirl: Her outfit invokes this, with it's long sleeves and bell-like cuffs
* CloserToEarth: Compared to her father, Retso.
* DoomedByCanon: [[spoiler: As mentioned in her father Retso's entry above, after the events of ''Suikoden 5'', but before the events of ''Suikoden 2'', she steals the 'Moon Bird' recipe and gives it to chef Hai Yo. However, Jinkai's thugs catch and kill her just as she secrets the recipe away.]]
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Despite raising fish for her father to cook, she feels bad about their fate and is often moved to tears if diners can't finish their meals, feeling that her fish had died for nothing.
* {{Kawaiiko}}
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:After the Falenan Civil War is over, Shun Min is unfortunately killed by the Black Dragon Group trying to prevent the Moon Bird recipe to be misused.]]
* [[UglyGuysHotDaughter Ugly Guy's Cute Daughter]]

->Voiced by: Takashi Akiyama (JP)

A swordsman competing in the Sacred Games in the hopes of outlawing slavery in Falena.

* {{Bishounen}}: He certainly hooked Marina effortlessly.
* CantHoldHisLiquor: Sialeeds wonders how he could have spent time in Kanakan as such a lightweight.
* ChickMagnet: Especially where Marina is concerned.
* ContinuityNod: His Falcon Rune is, to long-time fans, an indicator of his skill, especially as the rune only ever shows up on one genuinely accomplished swordsman/swordswoman in each game.
* GladiatorGames: He was born and raised to be a gladiator in Suikoden's very own [[TheThunderdome Thunderdome]], Stormfist.
** DefectorFromDecadence: However, he soon became jaded with the brutal way his fellow fighters were treated and ran away to Kanakan.
* ForGreatJustice: His aim is to win the Sacred Games, and thus marry Princess Lymsleia, to ensure the safety of his fellow gladiators in the future.
* HesBack: Upon his return to Sol-Falena around the time of the Sacred Games, he began to [[TookALevelInBadass wipe the floor]] with the competition.
* KilledOffForReal: If the unit he's in during a War Battle is defeated, there is a chance he will die.
* MasterSwordsman: A candidate for "most skilled in the game," along with Georg and Richard.
* MrFanservice: Amongst the hottest guys in the series.
* NiceGuy: He refuses to mention Godwin cheated, mostly because Marina, or her employers, could be hurt by the Godwins.
* ObliviousToLove: He's very dense when it comes to love and cannot suspect Marina's true feelings for him.
* RescueArc: Stormfist thugs, unhappy with a "foreigner" like Belcoot potentially marrying the Princess, kidnapped him, requiring the Prince and his party to race to the rescue. Their plan foiled, these same thugs then kidnapped Marina, a local girl friendly with Belcoot to lure him into a trap. He rushed to the rescue with the Prince's help and saved Marina.
* SlippingAMickey: With Marina safe, he prepared himself for the final against Childerich (The Godwin's champion) but he was drugged by [[spoiler: Marina herself (explained in her entry, below)]] and was unable to fight, allowing the Godwin faction victory in the contest. He forgives her, and later on (after the coup) points out that this was probably for the best, as the Godwin's would have used some other method, most likely lethal, to get him out of the picture.

->Voiced by: Creator/RinaSato (JP)

An employee of the Stormfist inn who is in love with Belcoot.

* ClingyJealousGirl: She certainly doesn't appreciate Hazuki's interest in sparring with Belcoot.
* DoggedNiceGirl: She's clearly in love with Belcoot, although he is fairly oblivious.
* {{Meido}}: She works as a maid at the Stormfist Inn.
* {{Oktoberfest}}: Her look, especially in her official art, is that of the typical beer-hall serving girl. She's even drawn with a huge platter of ''wurstl'' in one hand, and 4 tankards of beer in the other.
* TraumaInn: Her speciality once recruited. She runs the HQ inn.
* UnwittingPawn: Because of her infatuation with Belcoot, she was seen as a target to eliminate him by the Godwins.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: [[spoiler: She was visited by Dolph, who gave her the drug ''Dark Arcanum''. She was desperate for Belcoot ''not'' to marry the Princess and so used the drug to [[SlippingAMickey knock Belcoot out harmlessly]], so that he could lose the final and wouldn't be wed.]]
** MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:She was devastated when she finds out that Belcoot was injured because of what she did, to the point of letting out a BigNo.]]
** EarnYourHappyEnding: [[spoiler: However, this later turns out to be a good thing, as Belcoot notes that the Godwins would have used some other method to get rid of him, and he is lucky to be alive.]]

->Voiced by: Jun Ishimaru (JP); Creator/SkipStellrecht (EN)

A gladiator-slave who fights on behalf of Euram during the Sacred Games.

* BadassBack: His victory pose.

* BladeOnAStick: He wields a huge guan dao named Sagami.
* DarkSkinnedBlonde: He lives outdoors, so his tanned skin isn't unusual.
* GladiatorGames: He serves as the Barrows family's champion in the Sacred Games.
* HeroicBuild: His abs could probably double as sandpaper.
* KilledOffForReal: If the unit he is in during a War Battle is defeated, there is a chance he will die.
* {{Loincloth}}
* MiscarriageOfJustice: He was disqualified from the Games when, supposedly, Armes informants were talking to him about killing the Queen. In reality, they were just talking in the native Armes tongue, but it was enough to have him sentenced to death. Luckily, Lady Sialeeds pieces together the story and intervenes JustInTime to save him.
* OneManArmy: Originally from Armes, he fought off a battalion of 100 Falenan troops whilst poaching across the border.
* RatedMForManly: WalkingShirtlessScene and a ProudWarriorRaceGuy, living as a nomad in the woods. Oh yeah.
* SuperSenses: He's able to navigate the North Lunas Woods with no problem, something that only elves are supposed to be able to do. Urda is highly frustrated by this.
* TimeToUnlockMoreTruePotential: His speciality. He runs the combat training centre at HQ.
* UnderwearOfPower: A non-fetished example.
* VocalDissonance: He barely speaks, but his high-pitched, perky "Good!" victory quote, does not fit his gruff exterior.

->Voiced by: Takeo Irie (JP); Creator/SteveStaley (EN)

A gladiator-slave who wants the Prince's help.

* BadassAdorable: Unusual for a man, but with his smiling mug, friendly demeanor, and take charge behavior, he certainly qualifies.
* BareFistedMonk: Though he's not a monk.
* CommutingOnABus: He's one of the first Stars of Destiny encountered and is a prominent character early on, but he's actually the ''last'' Star to be recruited towards the very end of the game.
* CuteBruiser
* TheDogBitesBack: [[spoiler: When the Princes forces attack Stormfist, Shoon leads the gladiators in a revolt and helps them take the city.]]

* ItsPersonal: Joins the Prince's forces to exact revenge for the cruel treatment of his gladiator comrades.
* KamehameHadoken: His Fierce Tiger Rune.
* KidHero: He's just 14 years old.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: His combo with Nikea consists of them beating the ever loving crap out of one enemy.
* ShoutOut: He looks like someone out of Manga/SaintSeiya.

->Voiced by: Kiyotaka Furushima (JP); Doug Stone (EN)

A perverted warrior from Armes who seeks to enter the Sacred Games, only to be forbidden from doing so due to his nationality.

* CasanovaWannabe: His most overt trait.
* ChivalrousPervert: Even when competing in fighting tournaments he never hurts women, withdrawing every time he was pitted against a female contestant.
* DreadlockRasta: His hair, which is worn in very long auburn dreads.
* DualWielding: He uses double hand-axes named in battle
* FantasticRacism: He had travelled to Falena to compete in the Sacred Games, but being from Armes, he was denied entry.
* FieryRedhead: Spirited and a dark brick red.

* HopelessSuitor: For ''every'' woman he meets, unfortunately.
* GladiatorGames: He is well-known in various fighting circuits and tourneys.
* LovableSexManiac: He's not such a bad guy once you get past his quirks.

* ActionGirl: She's one of the few who'll take on the Prince one-on-one.
* BareFistedMonk: She specializes in unarmed combat.
* BareYourMidriff: Makes a bit more sense since she's a marital artist.
* BigEater: As is required for someone of her musculature. Mentioned by both Oboro and Retso (the TeamChef, no less).
* [[BodyGuardBabes Body Guard Babe]]: After first meeting in Stormfist, the Prince then encounters her in Lelcar, where she is working as Orok's bodyguard.
* BoisterousBruiser: Hits hard, but is always bright and bubbly.
* CombinationAttack: With Shoon.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Despite her cheerful and oblivious nature, she is one of the game's best fighters. She hits hard and can combo up to 5 times if you raise her technique.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: After an initial fight during the Lelcar conscripted boys RescueArc, and a subsequent one-on-one duel, she joins the Prince.
* DuelBoss: Optional, and the Prince doesn't need to win. But she joins ater this.

* LargeHam: It's hilariously easy to tell when she's going to use a 'Special' attack during her one-on-one battle against the Prince.
** CallingYourAttacks: Her specials all have ridiculous names!
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Her combination attack with Shoon, which is only available when they're both in berserk status, basically consists of the two of them going to town on one enemy.
* OhCrap: A pretty funny one comes after the fight in Lelcar when she realizes she just attacked the Prince of Falena (Not stupidity on her part, she had only seen him once before and the prince was in disguise at the time).
--> '''Nikea''': Uh oh...! That means... I conked the Prince in the head! They'll throw me in the Feitas (river) for sure!
* StrawFeminist: She didn't realize women were forbidden to compete in the Sacred Games, and launches into a confused rant, since she says, in Falena, women have the power.
** IgnorantOfTheirOwnIgnorance: Despite the spirited protestations, she didn't even know that the prize, aside from fame and glory, was that the winner would ''marry'' the Princess.
** SheIsTheKing: Sialeeds almost wishes Nikea ''was'' a man, because, if she was married to Lym, she figures there would always be something interesting going on. Georg thinks she's be incompetent. But still better than Euram.

->Voiced by: Issei Futamata (JP), Kim Strauss (EN)

A doctor who travels throughout the Queendom.

* DressedToHeal: In his lab-coat.
* LooksLikeCesare
* MagicAntidote: He worked hard to create an antidote to Raging Nostrum, the Nether Gate drug that drives the consumer into an uncontrollable killing frenzy and leads to death.
* TheMedic: Alongside Silva.
* TheSmartGuy: Skilled enough to make an antidote to Dark Arcanum in six months, a drug that's supposed to be undetectable.

!!Egbert Aethelbald
->Voiced by: Atsushi Satou (JP)

A madman who claims to be a member of the family who ruled Stormfist before [[BerserkButton THOSE! FILTHY! GODWINS!]]

* BerserkButton: His mad, neurotic rants are triggered by any mention of the Godwins. Including ''his own mention'' of the Godwins.
* BettingMiniGame: His specialty. Once recruited, he can be challenged to a game of draughts (checkers) for potch.
* BlingOfWar: His military uniform and hat reference the British Army's Rifles Regiment circa early 1800's.
* BlueBlood: The ancient Aethelbald family can trace their line of descent even earlier than the Falenan Royal Family. His valuable family tree document acts as a PlotCoupon when recruiting Raven.
* CatchPhrase: There ''was'' an example here, but one of those FILTHY GODWIN DEVILS stole it! FILTHY, FILTHY DEVILS!
* CavalryOfficer: His position in battle, once recruited.
* CloudCuckoolander: He's ''definitely'' eccentric, if not borderline [[TheMentallyDisturbed insane]] and lives a [[BeneathTheEarth troglodyte existence]] in the sewers beneath Stormfist.
* ClusterFBomb: As seen when he launches into a venom-spewed diatribe on the Godwin family.
* ConspiracyTheorist: Everything is done by the FILTHY DEVIL GODWINS! Everything.
* DogFoodDiet: You can guess how he survived down in the sewers by how licks his lips whenever he looks at Oboro's pet Mr. Mouse.
* FunnySchizophrenia: He seems to flit instantly between being calm and polite, to a foaming lunatic if the Godwins enter his head. He's so hilarious about it, it never comes off as deranged, but rather CrazyAwesome.
* HotBlooded: In war battles, and whenever on a Godwin-hating rant.
* ImpoverishedPatrician: He is a member of the once proud Aethelbald family, which collapsed over one hundred years ago due to the machinations of the Godwin family.
* LongSpeechTeaTime: In order for him to join, the player must politely listen to his (long) rant about the Godwins, without pressing ANY button to speed up the dialogue. Fortunately, he's not [[PermanentlyMissableContent unobtainable]] if you screw up.
* MeaningfulName: Aethelbald is the Anglo-Saxon name of two English kings and an archbishop.
* QuintessentialBritishGentleman: His personality when he's calm.
* RantInducingSlight: We can't mention this enough: ''All it takes'' is the ''word'' "Godwin" to trigger an epic rant.
* TalkativeLoon: He apparently says FILTHY DEVILS! over 100 times just walking around one corner of the sewer.

[[folder:Haud Village]]

->Voiced by: Sawa Ishige (JP); Creator/SherryLynn (EN)

A beautiful (but haughty) fashionista living in Haud. [[spoiler: Really Shuya Valya's younger sister, who left Armes to get out of her brother's shadow.]]

* ActionFashionista: She's obsessed with fashion, and is a powerful early magic-user for the active party.
* TheBeautifulElite
* BlueBlood: The young daughter of [[spoiler: the Valya clan]].
* TheCastShowoff: InUniverse. Her personal [[UselessUsefulSpell Red Rose Rune attack]] sees the screen darken and a spotlight land on her whilst she pirouettes into battle for a combo attack. The trade-off is that the other party members are unimpressed with her show-boating and enter a "grumpy" status.
* TheFashionista: So she thinks. In fact, she will only join the Prince if he is accompanied by others she considers fellow "fashion divas", namely Sialeeds or Sharmista. Once recruited, she makes multiple attempts to convince the Prince to develop what she sees as a "proper" fashion sense, to no avail.
* TheFightingNarcissist: She's the first lady narcissist available for the active party.
* FlowerMotifs: Specifically roses, as with most other narcissist encountered in the series.
* GorgeousPeriodDress: Her outfit and hair-style (or perhaps powdered wig) reference the opulently decadent Georgian era, including:
** CollaredByFashion: She wears a velvet choker incorporating a small rose motif.
** FluffyFashionFeathers: She wears a fascinator with two huge, white feathers projecting from it.
** PimpedOutDress: She wears a voluminous pink and red gown that [[OfCorsetsSexy cinches her waist]].
** ParasolOfPrettiness: (but see below -- it doubles as a weapon.)
** RegalRinglets: Her hair (or perhaps powdered wig) is piled up in a huge coiffure of ringlets.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Whereas her fellow narcissist Esmeralda was obsessed with her own beauty, Josephine is wrapped up in her own sense of style.
* {{Leitmotif}}: The narcissist's theme "Scarleticia Castle" plays whenever the Prince interacts with her.
* ParasolOfPain: She wields a spike-tipped parasol named Melusine like a [[RoyalRapier fencing foil]] in combat.
* PinkMeansFeminine: Her whole outfit is different shades of pink.
* ProudBeauty: Her beauty is only matched by her haughtiness.
* RoyalBrat: She is ''particularly'' caustic if the Prince attempts to recruit her without Sialeeds present, and is appalled at his apparent lack of fashion sense. She does mellow a little once recruited.
* TheRunaway: [[spoiler: It turns out that she has run away from Armes as she felt unappreciated and in her brother Shula's shadow.]]
* ShoutOut: She's possibly named after Napoleon Bonaparte's wife, the first Empress of France. She also seems to have aspects of MarieAntoinette.

An art appraiser working in Haud. He is depressed because Lord Barows is forcing him to claim the things created by the people of Haud are art.

* TheEeyore: He's not the happiest guy around.
* FetchQuest: Like all other appraisers in the series, he must be brought a certain mystery item in order for him join.
** MementoMacGuffin: The item in question is a painting by the legendary artist, Ivanov, of ''Suikoden 1'' fame.
* GrailInTheGarbage: The painting in question is often found out in the wilderness after it's dropped by random monsters.
* {{Hustler}}: He views himself as something of a conman, especially amongst the wealthy, gullible citizens of Haud, as he has no real interest in appraising. Given the quality of 'art' by the 'artists' of Haud, it's not hard to see why.
* IHaveAFamily: He keeps up the facade to support his family.

->Voiced by: Creator/KeijiFujiwara (JP); Michael Sorich (EN)

A composer who has tamed Do Re Mi elves to act as an orchestra.

* AmbiguouslyHuman: He bears a rather creepy resemblance to the Do Re Mi elves he covets.
* BattleThemeMusic: Having him in your party changes the battle music to a more orchestral piece.
* CartoonConductor: The elves certainly qualify Cornelio.
* MonsterRoommate: He had assembled a bizarre orchestra of (normally dangerous) Do Re Mi elves in his Haud Village home, which were defeated and dispersed by the Prince when he entered his house.
** FetchQuest: Furious at this, he demands that the Prince return his elves one by one, thereby PuttingTheBandBackTogether.
* MusicAndSoundEffects: His speciality - talking to him lets the player hear the various tunes used throughout the game.
** BattleThemeMusic: Having him in the active party remix's the battle music to a more classical variation.
* NotGoodWithPeople: Type 2!
* SummonMagic: He wields the unique Do Re Mi Rune, which allows him to summon Do Re Mi elves to attack or put enemies to sleep.
* SourSupporter: He has a habit of refering to nearly all other members of the Prince's army as "mediocrities". He's not a bad person, however, just really, really, ''really'' proud of his musical talent to the point of narcissism.
* ThoseTwoGuys: Has this dynamic with Josephine.

The mayor of Lordlake. He has managed to keep the town together despite the hardships faced since the Rebellion.

* BigGuy: Broad shouldered, although the hat makes him look taller, too.
* CarryABigStick: More like ''log''.
* FarmBoy: Grows a vegetable garden.
* FieryRedhead: Hard to make out with his hat, but he's got very dark red hair. And is quite passionate.
* GreenThumb: His speciality. He sets up a little farm at the HQ, complete with a vegetable patch and fruit orchard.
* GrumpyBear: He gets a ''lot'' nicer when he finds out the royal family wasn't entirely responsible for Lordlake's plight.
* InHarmonyWithNature: Can't wait to farm once he gets to a greener pasture.
* NiceHat: Like many residents of Lordlake, he sports a large straw hat.
* PatrioticFervor: Towards Lordlake. He is (understandably) initially hostile to the Prince's cause.
* StolenGoodReturnedBetter: When the Prince returns water to Lordlake, he mellows out and joins his cause.

->Voiced by: Creator/FumikoOrikasa (JP); Creator/MonaMarshall (EN)

A child living in Lordlake who hates Arshtat.

* AdorablyPrecociousChild: He's certainly got a lot of pluck, even venturing into the dangerous Withered Forest to find water.
* BigBrotherMentor: To all of the Lordlake kids.
* BrattyHalfPint: You may get an urge to hit him when you initially meet him.
* MouthyKid: Status and prestige don't intimidate him.

* PatrioticFervor: Towards Lordlake. He is (understandably) initially hostile to the Prince's cause.
* StolenGoodReturnedBetter: Once water is returned to Lordlake, he joins the Prince's cause.
* TagalongKid: After the Prince promises to return water to Lordlake, he insists on helping out.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: He aggressively voices his disgust about the treatment of Lordlake by the Queen.
* TookALevelInBadass: In the game proper, he's a non-combatant. In the epilogue, he becomes ''a Queen's Knight''.
* {{Tsundere}}: Interestingly, he's a tsun for one part of the story, and dere for the rest, regardless of the people speaking to him.
* UnwantedRescue: He's thoroughly ''unhappy'' when the Prince saves him from a pack of marauding Ulse.

->Voiced by: Kazuto Okada (JP); Creator/BarbaraGoodson (EN)

A doctor who works in Lordlake despite a royal decree making it a crime for her to do so.

* AmicablyDivorced: [[spoiler: From Galleon.]]
* ConsummateProfessional: She thinks resorting to magic is cheating. But she does relent if it's necessary.
* DressedToHeal: Complete with lab-coat.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She doesn't exactly know what bedside manner is.
* TheMedic: Once recruited, she serves as the Prince's army physician, [[spoiler: healing Lyon when she is badly injured by Dolph.]]
* ShootTheMessenger: Initially, she reserves particular contempt for the Prince, using him as a whipping post to voice her feelings about the treatment of Lordlake by the Queen.
* TheSnarkKnight: She ostensibly lacks ''any'' form of bedside manner.
* StolenGoodReturnedBetter: When the Prince returns water to Lordlake, she mellows and joins his cause.

->Voiced by: Isao Yamagishi (JP);

One of the three leaders of Lelcar. He supports the Prince.

* TheGoodChancellor: He's the leader of the Central islet, which traditionally supports the Royal Family.
* {{Mediator}}: His thankless job is to mediate between the factions on Lelcar and their disagreeing leaders, Orok and Volga.

* RescueArc: He supports the Prince and Wasil in their attempts to halt Orok's recruitment drive, mentioned above.

->Voiced by: Goblin (JP)

One of the three leaders of Lelcar. He has sided with the Godwin faction.

* HeadInTheSandManagement: Initially. He is the leader of the Western Islet, which solidly follows the Godwins.
* DirtyBusiness: Does his best to minimize it, but recognizes it as necessary.
* HeelFaceTurn: Mostly because his village got torched.
* NecessarilyEvil: Tries to minimize the problems by working with the Godwin.
** IDidWhatIHadToDo: He knows that his position would make him seem an enemy to the others of Lelcar, but he knows there is no other choice. If Zahhak was allowed to do things directly, things would be a lot worse. He's eventually proven right.
* RescueArc: The Prince finds Orok and the conscripted boys. After the Prince defeats his hired bodyguard, Nikea, Orok relents and allows the Prince to take the boys.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: He disappears mysteriously just before the successful completion of Lelcar's rebuilding, and was not seen again.
* WhatYouAreInTheDark: Orok's true character is seen when the town is on fire. He's personally evacuating the injured and elderly having trouble.
* YouSaidYouWouldLetThemGo: Zahak, angry at Orok's betrayal, sets fire to Lelcar despite promising to leave the town alone. Having witnessed the above, Orok performs a HeelFaceTurn and respectfully joins the Prince.

An armorer who supports the Godwin faction, at least until he realizes how ruthless they are.

* ElementalCrafting: He's an armorer and once recruited, opens a store at castle HQ.
* [[FatGirl Fat Guy]]
* HeelFaceTurn: He genuinely supported the Godwin ideals and not just because they spent a fortune at his store. Their monstrous actions in Lelcar soon change his mind, though you can convince him a lot sooner by spending a lot of money at his store.
* NoHeroDiscount
* ShoutOut: It could be unintentional, but he's a dead-ringer for Dr Phil.
* WeBuyAnything: That isn't a trade good.
* WeSellEverything: He sells armor that is available from any other armor store already visited.

->Voiced by: Jun Ishimaru (JP); Creator/TonyOliver (EN)

A warrior in service to the Lord of Sable.

* BackToBackBadasses: His unite attack with Belcoot.
* BadBadActing: It was probably intentional, but Dinn isn't the best at acting.

A bandit with an uncanny resemblance to the Prince.

* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Quickly develops a crush on Lyon, while completely failing to notice that Faylen has a crush on ''him''.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: When challenging the Prince, he proclaims that he'll take his place if he wins. [[spoiler: If he '''does''' win the duel, it leads to a [[NonStandardGameOver Bad End]] where he knocked him into a coma and is ''forced'' to take his place, masquerading as the Prince until his untimely death.]] Even if he loses, this still becomes his job, such as in the New Queen's Campaign where he's given command of the Army.
* {{Bishonen}}: He DOES copy the Prince.
* BoxedCrook: When he is brought back to Sable after he is defeated, he agrees to join the Prince and pose as a body double in exchange for his two comrades being pardoned.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: He's a bit of a clown, but he is as skilled a warrior as he is an actor (as noted in the Prince's entry, the three-section staff is a ''very'' difficult weapon, yet Roy apparently mastered it in a matter of ''months'' in order to sell his impersonation), and when the chips are down, he is perhaps the ''most'' courageous member of the Prince's army.
* CriminalDoppelganger: When first encountered, he's masquerading as the Prince because Euram hired him to smear his name. He agreed to do it because he hated the Prince.
* DontYouDarePityMe: Lyon's speech about blaming others due to his hard childhood. It gets him all fired up.
* DuelBoss: And he looks exactly like the Prince. It's weird.
* EvilTwin: [[spoiler:The only one who can instantly recognizes him as a fake is Lyon.]]
* EyesOfGold: He has these when you first meet him probably for the PLAYER to tell the difference between him and the Prince.
* HeroicSacrifice: In one path (see KilledOffForReal), he knowingly walks into a rigged duel in the Prince's place, ''wins'' the duel, then gets shot full of arrows. [[spoiler: And he still gets the last laugh, as the Dragon Cavalry arrive when he breathes his last.]]
* HopelessSuitor: Towards Lyon, since she have eyes only for the Prince.
* IdenticalStranger: His body type and face are identical to the Prince. Add a wig to give him the right hair color and he can fool almost anyone as a decoy.
* ItAmusedMe: Claims this as his motivation for [[spoiler: impersonating the Prince]]. Lyon calls him on it.
* KilledOffForReal: If [[spoiler: you choose to defend your base rather than abandon it]]. You receive several warnings about taking this course of action beforehand, [[spoiler: because Roy's death locks you out of the reward you get for recruiting all 108 stars]].
* LargeHam: Twice when acting as the prince's doppelganger after joining your army. The first is when he acts as a decoy, which Raja actually approves of since it helps him stand out and draw attention away from the real prince. The second is during a campaign battle, where he throws in some hilarious SesquipedalianLoquaciousness and YeOldeButcheredeEnglishe into the mix. The best part? [[spoiler: Alenia]] bought it hook, line, and sinker.
* MagikarpPower: He's the only one, aside from the prince, who can equip and use the skill "[[InfinityPlusOneSword Royal Paradise.]]"
* PeekABangs: One of his eyes is hidden by his [[spoiler: real]] hair.

* FastballSpecial: Throws a boomerang, although she doesn't have the Long Attack row like Sialeeds or Sharminsta.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:While the player can recruit her and Faylon at the same time as Roy, they can also be left behind and recruited later... unless you wait too long, in which case [[spoiler: they die during New Armes' assault on Sable. * GondorCallsForAid: Usually, he remains HeroicNeutral on international matters, but after the Prince helps to stop a group of pirates from burning down the Nirva Lighthouse in his territory, he joins the Prince's cause.

* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: Combat-wise; to Sialeeds. She not only uses the same weapon and has similar stats, she even replaces Sialeeds in [[CombinationAttack Unite Attacks]]. [[spoiler: Also, Sialeeds' lover is also attracted to her.]]
* WideEyedIdealist

->Voiced by: Kotomi Yamakawa (JP); Creator/DorothyEliasFahn (EN)

One of Shula's bodyguards, known for her love of {{Bishounen}}.

* BeautyMark: Below her left eye.
* BladeOnAStick: She wields a long spear.
* [[BodyguardBabes Bodyguard Babe]]: She is Shula's other protector.
* FemmeFatale: Her vibe.
* LovableSexManiac: She is well known to chase after pretty young boys, which is the reason she joined the incredibly {{Bishounen}} Shula's brigade in the first place, and is in hog heaven at the castle HQ.
* ReallyGetsAround: Lelei brands her a "harlot" in minutes of meeting her.
* [[RedOniBlueOni Red Oni]]: To Sharmista's blue.
* SimSimSalabim
** MeaningfulName: In reference to the above, her weapon upgrades as: Shataghanta, Shakti, Pinaka. Each of these refers to aspects of Hindu mythology.
* [[BrotherhoodOfFunnyHats Sisterhood Of Funny Hats]]: Once recruited, she forms a (slightly ridiculous) secret society with Linfa called the ''Secret Alliance for the Protection of Pretty Hunks In Real Endangerment (SAPPHIRE)'' whose motto is ''Observe! Protect! Observe Some More!!''
* TheTease

!!Maha Sparna
->Voiced by: Kazuko Okada (JP)

An Armes General who allies with the Godwin faction.

* TheBaroness: Has all of the criteria, although not any form of sexpot.
* DirtyCoward: Following defeat by the Prince's army after her misjudged alliance with the Godwins, she destroyed the Sable-Armes border gate in order to ensure that she would not be pursued. Her cowardly actions trapped the Southern Mountain Corp and made their retreat impossible, [[spoiler: leading directly to Jidan's death and her own disgrace and eventual execution back home.]]
* EvilMatriarch: Of the Armes Darja Clan.
* EvilPlan: She rides into battle when Godwin makes a deal with Armes. If Armes will help subjugate the Prince's forces, then Armes will gain all former Barows territory after the war ends. [[spoiler: She attacks the Castle HQ, but finds the castle empty. The Prince then counter-attacks with the aid of the Dragon Cavalry and by activating the sluice gate on Ceras Lake to flood the castle. Most of the Armes troops are useless, abandoning their weapons to escape the flooding castle.]]
* HumiliationConga: Her troops lose their weapons, she's chased back to Armes, leaves her subordinate to die, and gets [[spoiler: killed for her trouble.]]
* IceQueen: And certainly an unsympathetic one.
* SimSimSalabim: Her look (and that of most Armes characters) seems to owe its origins to the Indian subcontinent.

!!Jidan Guisu
->Voiced by: Masaru Ikeda (JP)

Maha Sparna's right hand.

* AnAxeToGrind: He wields a huge axe.
* TheBerserker: [[spoiler: Having been abandoned by Maha, and thoroughly trounced by the Prince, he makes one last ditch attempt at victory, but is slain in combat]].
* DastardlyWhiplash: His look, although ''fat bastardly''-whiplash is probably more apt.
* FatBastard: He's bloody enormous.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:Following Maha's cowardice, detailed above.]]
* NotSoHarmlessVillain: [[spoiler: If you choose to stay in the castle, he's the one who delivers the killing blow to Roy.]]
* NumberTwo: To Maha Sparna.
* SimSimSalabim: His look (and that of most Armes characters) seems to owe its origins to the Indian subcontinent.
* VillainousGlutton: His first move in each conquered city is to loot food.

An Armes soldier who seeks to avenge his father, who was killed by a Nether Gate assassin.

* BigGuy: He towers over most.
* BladeOnAStick: He wields the God Spear.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: He has a X shaped scar on his forehead.
* GottaCatchEmAll: There's only a relatively short time window to recruit him and his out-of-the-way placement doesn't help. [[spoiler: You have to recruit him to properly recruit Sagiri.]]
* HeelFaceTurn: He is persuaded to join the Prince as he too is out to destroy Nether Gate (see below).
* HeroicBuild: The skimpy clothes helped.
* KilledOffForReal: If the unit he is in during a War Battle is defeated, there is a chance he will die.
* PolarOppositeTwins: Nakula has an estranged twin brother. They had a falling out over Nakula's bloody quest for vengeance.
* ThePromise: A dark take. [[spoiler: At the end of the game, he promises he will return to Falena to kill Sagiri after dealing with the Nether Gate forces left in Nagarea. She accepts.]]
* {{Revenge}}
** YouKilledMyFather: After his father was murdered by [[spoiler: Sagiri whilst she was still a child assassin of Nether Gate]], he swore vengeance and vowed to bring down the entire organization.
** RevengeBeforeReason
* SociopathicHero: While on the Prince's side, he's still a bloodthirsty asshole. Justified by both his backstory and the fact that its pretty clear his vengeance is all he has left.
* StalkerWithoutACrush: He follows Sagiri around, and is often found waiting outside whatever room she is in. This becomes particularly poignant at moments such as before massive battles, where most of the characters are spending time with their friends and loved ones. Nakula has nothing left but his hatred, and Sagiri is a living symbol of that hate.
* UndeathlyPallor: His skin is an odd, sickly colour, which lends him a slightly unsettling look.
* VillainousValour: While fighting for Armes he holds off the entire Falenan army, seemingly to buy his lord a chance to escape. Lord Solis rewards Nakula's bravery by sparing his life and having him treated for his wounds.
* WoundedGazelleGambit: Of a sort. He was wounded in the initial battle with Armes, however his reason for fighting so recklessly was not out of loyalty to Jidan Guisu, but in order to become [[ConvenientComa injured/captured]] so he'd have to stay in Falena and could therefore pursue his father's killer.

* BlackSheep: How he is viewed by fellow elf, Urda, who thinks he should return to Alseid away from the "barbarous humans".
* TheChampion: To Lady Haswar. He is ''incredibly'' protective of her wellbeing.
* HiddenElfVillage: He hails from the secret village of Alseid, accessible only to elves.
* ForestRanger: When he catches Logg and Lun panning for gold in the sacred Lunas river, he advocates strict punishment to be taken against the Raftfleet father and daughter so as to set an example to others.

* NatureHero: He originally became a cleric in order to preserve the North Woods of Lunas from gold mining which would have had dire consequences for the ecosystem as well as the elven village of Alseid, from which he hails.
* NumberTwo: He is Lady Haswar's second in command.
* ThePaladin: He is the head cleric of the Lunas enclave.
* PointyEars
* PlatonicLifePartners: In a bath scene with Mathias and Dinn, he notes that his loyalty to Haswar had nothing to do with gender or romance.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Lady Haswar. He will only join the Prince's cause when she does.

->Voiced by: Creator/SayakaOhara (JP)

An elven woman who wants Isato to return to their people.

* AbsoluteXenophobe: Her defining characteristic.
* BareYourMidriff: The rest of her body is clohed.
* FantasticRacism: Really hates humans.
** HumansAreTheRealMonsters: Oh boy, she really, ''really'' hates humans and is conspicuous amongst the Suikoden series' elf population in her [[AbsoluteXenophobe absolute xenophobia.]] Oboro indicates during his investigation of her that he does not necessarily disagree with her assessment of humans, despite being human himself. Considering his backstory, it's not really a surprise.
* GoodIsNotNice: She's a giant bitch, but she'll always help the Prince.
* IceQueen: Without a hint of defrosting.
* OurElvesAreBetter: Very much her way of thinking.
* PointyEars: Of course.
* SourSupporter: To an ''unbelievable'' degree. She only joins the Prince's Loyalist Army along with Isato and Haswar in order to ensure the former's safety amongst what she considered to be barbarians.

* BigGuyLittleGuy: His friendship with Logg.
* DropTheHammer: He wields a large mining pick in battle.
* GreatEscape: He's integral in helping to recruit Lucretia during the [[TheAlcatraz Agate Prison]] RescueArc, making good use of his digging skills.
* LittlePeople
** OurDwarvesAreAllTheSame: The Suikoden series' take on the dwarfish race as expected, (although slightly more whimsical than other examples), being stout, gruff, good at digging, with a fondness for gemstones etc.
* MadeOfIron: His hit points are predictably high.

An apprentice blacksmith.

* TheApprentice
* BeneathTheEarth: His home at the Dwarf Camp.

* OldMaster: He is one of the Dwarf elders.
* SortingAlgorithmOfWeaponEffectiveness: He can level up character's weapon abilities from within the active party.
* WrenchWhack: He wields a huge wrench in combat.

A dwarf with a fondness for windows.

* ApronMatron: Her look, albeit a miniaturized version.
* BeneathTheEarth: Her home at the Dwarf Camp.
* CoolBigSis: How she is viewed by her fellow dwarves.
* FantasticRacism: Initially she had little respect for humans, typically referring to everyone as just 'human'.
* GottaCatchEmAll
** GuideDangIt: In an iteration of the ''Suikoden'' series that features some ''major'' TrialAndErrorGameplay recruitment across the board, hers is perhaps the most specific, requiring a preternatural level of farsightedness. She must be accompanied to a ''specific'' [[spoiler: 1F window at the Lunas enclave]] before she'll join and given the amount of buildings with windows in the game, this seems ''incredibly'' abstruse.
* LittlePeople
** OurDwarvesAreAllTheSame: Averted in her case. She's a relatively rare example of a ''female'' member of a group often depicted as a OneGenderRace.
* VideoGameInterfaceElements: Her speciality. She can change the colour (and design) of the in-game menu windows.

->Voiced by: Creator/KeijiFujiwara (JP)

* MonsterAllies
* SeaMonster
** StockNessMonster: She's a giant, white serpent and has lived in the depths of Ceras Lake for over 100 years.
* SnakesAreSexy
* ThrowingDownTheGauntlet: She was understandably furious about her Ceras Lake home being drained, and attacks the Prince on the HQ jetty.
** DefeatMeansFriendship: Once defeated, it is revealed she does not want to leave her home and so joins the Prince's cause, if you have Genoh or Levi recruited.
*** This doesn't stop her from occasionally disrupting Subala's fishing minigame, and no, you can't catch the giant snake with your fishing rod.

-> Voiced by: Creator/SeizoKato (JP)

An elderly, sentient, giant tortoise.

* AbsentMindedProfessor: His advanced age means he has trouble recalling anything in particular.
* BondCreatures: Once recruited.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: He ''insists'' on his potential companions having respect for the elderly and this shows up in his recruitment process, where the Prince must be accompanied by an "old" character (Levi, Alhazred etc) who is leveled up to at least 95% of the Prince's current level.
* [[MistakenForGods Mistaken For A God]]: He is deeply respected by all beavers, who refer to him as "Boss".

* TranslatorBuddy: He acts as this for Byakuren, impressing on her the heroic nature of the Prince's cause, which helps to convince her to join.
* TurtlePower: He has more HP, strength, luck, and magic defense than most characters.

* GenkiGirl
* {{Meganekko}}
* MoralityPet: The only character [[JerkAss Moroon]] will listen to.
* VerbalTic: She finishes all sentences with a musical "nuoh" sound, which according to her "doesn't really mean anything".

A beaver who likes making baths.

->Voiced by: Isao Yamagishi (JP); Creator/LaraJillMiller (EN)

A beaver who seems to think he's a rockstar.

* AnatomyArsenal: As above.
* AwesomeAnachronisticApparel: In Suikoden's medieval setting, he's incongruously dressed in a 1950's style biker jacket, sunglasses and carries an ''electric'' guitar.
* BattleThemeMusic: Including him in the active party changes the battle theme to a [[CrowningMusicOfAwesome guitar-driven, speed-metal remix]].
* [[BigBrotherWorship Big Sister Worship]]: For whatever reason, the ''only'' person he will actually not act out to is his seemingly mild-mannered older sister Meroon. She's the only person that can convince him to join the Prince as well.
* CivilizedAnimal
** FunnyAnimal
** IntelligentGerbil
* CoolShades
* FantasticRacism
** HumansAreBastards: Like Urda, he absolutely ''despises'' humans and is not shy to show it, blaming them ''all'' for, well, anything.
* IneffectualLoner: He's encountered in isolation at the deserted Braska Mine, where there are few, if any, humans around.
* InformedAttribute: Meroon assures the Prince that he has a [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold heart of gold]] under his rough exterior. We never really get to see it.

* MisunderstoodLonerWithAHeartOfGold: He looks vaguely sinister, even giving off a bit of a Nether Gate vibe in his appearance, but he's definitely one of the good guys.
* OddFriendship: He's good pals with Oboro, but the disparate nature of their work (Oboro keeping secrets, him revealing them) can lead to awkwardness.
* VoiceOfTheResistance: He publishes the HQ newspaper, the Dawn Times.
* WillNotTellALie: He always aims to publish the truth, and only was able to restrain himself for the sake of the army (and the Prince's safety).

->Voiced by: Creator/FumikoOrikasa (JP)

A young woman who does a show with her best friend, Ernst.

* MiniDressOfPower
* SimpleStaff: She wields the Lovely Baton in combat.

->Voiced by: Creator/DaisukeNamikawa (JP)

Norma's best friend. He has been cursed with a rune that has turned him into a leopard.

* ScarilyCompetentTracker

* KilledOffForReal: If the unit he is in during a War Battle is defeated, there is a chance he will die.
* MrExposition: His main purpose is to reveal the details of the Lordlake uprising. [[spoiler: When Norden shares his entire story, it is revealed the initial reason for the mob gathering was to protest against Lord Barows. Lord Barows had a dam built, but it failed and construction was abandoned. However, the debris washed to Lordlake and damaged their water. The people were angry, and Lord Rovere was trying to calm them down. In a panic, Euram orders the Barows garrison to attack. Although Norden did not agree with this, he could not go against his commander's wishes. But the mob was too fierce, and in the end, the Barows garrison was routed. In retailiation, Lord Barows ordered that some of the garrison disguise themselves and incite the rioters to attack the East Palace. Norden did not go with those rioters, but with the Dawn Rune found in Salum's basement, it is clear what his intentions were.]]
* OddFriendship: He forms an unlikely bond with Bastan once recruited, over their shared bad experiences with the Barows.

A swordswoman who has come to Falena to test her skills against Belcoot.

* ActionGirl
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Belcoot, much to her annoyance.
* IceQueen: She's frosty and serious, and show's a special contempt for Nikea who she feels beneath her and Gavaya, who was so persistent in his marriage proposals that she actually drew her sword to him.
* KatanasAreJustBetter: She wields a katana named Ishima.
* TheRival
** TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: She has an intense (fairly one-sided) rivalry with Belcoot, as he is the only swordsman to ever best her in combat.
* {{Samurai}}: Her look, albeit a female variation.
* ToBeAMaster: Improving her fighting skills is her life's goal.
* TriangRelations: Marina is highly suspicious of her seemingly professional interest in Belcoot, thinking it may well be more than that. She may well have a point.

A thief who fancies himself Oboro's archenemy.

* CunningLikeAFox

* InvisibilityCloak: He is aided mostly by his Raven Rune, which makes him completely invisible in low-light conditions.

* MementoMacGuffin: His signature thefts are the family trees of the Falenan nobles, including Solis Raulbel of Sable.
* MeaningfulName: His weapons upgrade as Rook, Carrion Crow, Nevermore.
** ShoutOut: "Nevermore" is undoubtedly a reference to Edgar Allen Poe's famous poem (Quoth the raven, "Nevermore").
* {{Ninja}}: His look.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname
* TheRival: As expected, GreatDetective Oboro is hot on his heels, refering to him (derisively) as "Crow".

->Voiced by: Eisuke Yoda (JP)

A scholar who is trying to find [[TomeofEldritchLore the Book of Condemnation]] before it can create a disaster.

* AnimeHair: He sports zig-zagging, lightning bolt shaped beard, eyebrow and head hair.
* EncyclopediaExposita: His speciality. He manages Suikoden 5's version of this, the Old Books volume 1-13.
* FetchQuest
** TomeOfEldritchLore: He requests the Prince's help in questing for the Book of Condemnation, an incredibly dangerous book he wants to keep secure. It even ''attacks'' him and the Prince when it is finally found.
* GottaCatchEmAll
** GuideDangIt: His recruitment process is a veritable SideQuest in itself, and again, like with many other Suikoden 5 characters, it requires a great deal of foresight (and luck) to complete the long chain of triggered events without a guidebook.
* TheIllegible: His writing script is so ornate that it is impossible to decipher.
* ShoutOut: His name (and storyline) is one big shoutout to Abdul Alhazred, a fictional character in H. P. Lovecraft's [[DidYouJustIndexCthulhu Cthulhu mythos]]. In the books, Alhazred was the author of the Necronomicon, an evil book whose possessors fell victim to an unpleasant end, including Alhazred himself.
* SecretlyWealthy: He comes across as a book peddler, but he's actually incredibly rich.
* SmartGuy
* StoutStrength: He's not bad in combat, despite his rotund build.

A corrupt port administrator.

* BettingMiniGame: His speciality. He runs a betting stall for Yoran's Dragon Horse racing game.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: A former administrator at Hershville, he is known for looking the other way regarding smuggling, as long as he can take a cut.
* {{TheGambler}}
* TheNondescript: Arguably. In a series that (on the whole) has excellent character design, he's pretty bland and unmemorable, which actually makes sense given that he ''has'' to be as bland as possible to be able to do his smuggling business well.
* WildCard: He actually made several bets with other administrators, placing his money on a victory for the Prince's forces, and so joins to keep an eye on proceedings.
