Elementals are rare individuals, almost always human, who can cast magic of a particular element without incantations, planning, or even having anything but a vague idea of what they want the magic to do. Those with enough experience to know what they're doing are incredibly dangerous, though they can be defeated by someone who prepared for the fight ahead of time. For Max Linell the Fire Elemental see the "Teachers And Staff" folder; for Okochi Akira the Water Elemental and Murakami Natsumi the Queen of Light, see the "The Old Class" folder. For Ruden the King of Earth and Ava Grace the Water Elemental, see the "Misora's Group In Book 1" folder.

!General Tropes For All Elementals
Elementals are people with an abnormal connection to an element, who possess the ability to manipulate their magic element with little more than a thought or a gesture rather than a spell, and possess tremendous magic capacity compared to the average mage, which they come by as a natural by product of being an elemental. There are ten elements: Light, Shadow, Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Lightning, Ice, Wood, and Metal.
----
* ElementalAbsorption: This is a common ability of elementals, though some have it to a higher degree than others.
* ElementalRockPaperScissors: This is very important among the elementals when it comes interaction between individuals, and while individual relationships may vary, their first instinct when meeting a new elemental tend to be dictated by this.
* ElementalShapeshifting: Some of the more powerful elementals are able to change their body into their particular element, such as Akira did in Still Waters 1. This acts as a SuperMode for them, freeing up all their power for them to use.
* Flight: This seems to be a side effect of ElementalShapeshifting; while only two elementals have shifted thus far in the series (Still Waters 3, book 2), both (Queen of Water, Queen of Light) have demonstrated the ability to float in the air.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: All elementals are considered to be this to one degree or another, though water elementals suffer from it the most.
* PowerGivesYouWings: This seems to be a common addition when an elemental shifts.

!!Elemental Kings
These are the strongest of the elementals, chosen by their predecessors to lead weaker elementals of the same element.
----
* LegacyCharacter: This is how the Elemental Kings are seen by the few who know the truth of how they operate. Every Elemental King of the past was a hero in their own time who eventually died, only to wait around for the next Elemental King of their element to be born, mature, and become worthy of the title, after which they can finally pass on to Whatever Comes Next.

!!!Guy Sculler, Elemental King of Wind
----
* BlowYouAway: His elemental power is wind.
* : spoiler: in the intro to Still Waters 3, Book 1, it is revealed that the then-Elemental Queen of Light removed his soul from his body in the instant before his death, saving his life, though not his body; it is implied that this is not approved of. He was last seen on some strange elemental plane.
* Expy: He looks a lot like Dante from VideoGame/DevilMayCry.
* : .
* RazorWind

!!! Elemental Queen of Earth
She appeared to Ruden at the end of the Misora arc, where it is revealed she's stayed around him all his life. . Doesn't appear to have a physical body.
----
* InvisibleToNormals
* TheLadette

!!! Elemental Queen of Light
She first appeared in the side story The Queen of Light, and later appeared briefly in Still Waters 3. . Doesn't appear to have a physical body.
----

!!Elementals
These characters are elementals who were not strong enough to be chosen as Elemental Kings. Any elemental is worth a dozen regular mages, however, so each one is still a serious threat.

!!!Linda Cale
A mysterious swordswoman and light elemental, she was sent to find the "Queen of Light", Murakami Natsumi, by none other than the Great Vampire Lord Sir Alexander Stratos.
----
* ActionGirl
* AntiHero: She's a Type 4.
* TheChampion: For Natsumi.
* CoolSword
* DeliberateInjuryGambit: During a fight at the Youkai Festival in Book 2, Linda is up against another highly skilled swordswoman. She ends up impaled by the woman's sword, but manages to grab the woman's hand, pull herself up the blade, and punch her in the face several times until the opponent managed to block a hit, only to receive a headbutt for her trouble.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Her introduction involves ambushing Kotarou, who was caught so off guard that only Natsumi's quick intervention kept him from getting grievously injured. It was a SecretTestOfCharacter on Linda's part; when she is defeated moments later, she immediately swears to serve Natsumi.
* FightsLikeANormal: She is a light elemental, but she prefers to use a sword rather than magic.
* GoodIsNotNice: She may be on Natsumi's side, but when her suggestion on how to deal with a potential enemy involves a quick assassination, you can tell she's not a very nice person.
* HealingFactor: She heals quickly due to her abilities as a light elemental.
* ImplausibleFencingPowers
* LaserBlade: She can use her magic to create one of these; it is described as looking a lot like a light saber.
* LightEmUp: She is a light elemental
* LightningBruiser: Her status as a light elemental gives her a minor form of regeneration, allowing her to recover from injuries or power through them far more easily than the average combatant.
* MagicKnight
* MurderIsTheBestSolution: When she, Natsumi, and Kotarou start talking about Masashi and the problems he's causing among the youkai, the first thing she does is casually suggest murdering him.
* MysteriousPast

!!!Cyrr
