[[folder: Orphen's Group]]

!!Krylancelo Finrandi aka Orphen
-->''Voiced by'': Creator/ShowtaroMorikubo (Japanese); Creator/DavidMatranga (English, 1998 and 2020 TV series), Creator/QuintonFlynn (video game) (English); Pablo Ausensi (LA-Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/orphen_4062.jpg]]

* AdaptationalBadass: In the first anime, he was a reasonably badass MagicKnight in his own right. In the 2020 anime, Orphen's magic is even more versatile and his combat speed is even faster than ever. He's also an even better unarmed hand-to-hand combatant than he was in the first series, being able to single-handedly beat down multiple opponents or high level sorcerers in the Tower of Fangs to the point that 2020 Orphen can be considered both a MagicKnight ''and'' a KungFuWizard.
* AlmightyJanitor: Orphen's a pretty high level spellcaster who can exchange both physical and magical blows with high level sorcerers, take down plenty of dangerous magical creatures, and is talented enough to be considered one of thirteen candidates to become Court Sorcerer... but at the end of the day, he's still a dropout who never graduated and left the Tower of Fangs to focus on finding and curing Azalie.
* BadassTeacher: Towards his pupil Majic, who even refuses other people's offers to be his teachers (including [[spoiler:Esperanza]]) because he admires the guy so much.
* HellBentForLeather: He wears leather pants very, very stylishly.
* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler:When Hartia tells him about Azalie and Childman's GrandTheftMe.]]
* HotBlooded: While age does calm him down some, considering his frustration over how the Tower of Fang tried to cover up what happened to Azalie, his heart and emotions often drive him to act instead of walking away from someone else's problems.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Is rude and mouthy, but has a heart of gold and is completely devoted to those he loves.
* KungFuWizard: 2020 Orphen is as much of a physical, hand-to-hand fighter as he is a magic user and has proven himself capable of beating down both multiple and single opponents with his bare fists.
* LoveMartyr: Arguably, to [[spoiler: Azalie - after learning what she has done.]]
* MagicKnight: Part of where he gets his "Sorcerer Stabber" title from. He's essentially a magical mercenary, though he leans more towards physical knives than swords for practicality [[spoiler:and being trained more as an ''assassin'' rather than a straight-up fighter]].
* StartMyOwn: Starts his own magic school called the Swedenbrory School of Sorcery.
* PapaWolf: Towards his companions, specially seen when he deals with [[spoiler: Licorice's family and then Escalena]]
* TallDarkAndSnarky: He's pretty tall, with dark hair and tanned skin (plus black clothes), and holy shit he loves dealing the snark.
* ThatManIsDead: After [[spoiler:he refuses to let go of Azalie!Bloody August and leaves the Tower.]]
--> "My name is not Krylancelo! FROM NOW ON, I'M ORPHEN!"
* TragicKeepsake: The Tower pendant he wears? It's not his own. It's Azalie's.
* WarriorTherapist: Specially seen when he deals with [[spoiler:[[BrainwashedAndCrazy Majic]] via both speaking to him ''and'' beating him up.]]

!!Claíomh Everlasting
-->''Voiced by'': Creator/MayumiIizuka (1998 TV series), Creator/RumiOokubo (2020 series) (Japanese); Creator/ShelleyCaleneBlack (1998 TV series), Creator/SarahWiedenheft (2020 TV Series) Creator/JenniferHale (video game) (English); Laura Orlázabal (LA-Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/claiomh_everlasting_14254.jpg]]

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: She felt like this in regards to Stephanie.
* BathingBeauty: She sees Orphen for the first time when she's taking a bath in the lake near to her village.
%%* BigFancyHouse: The Everlasting mansion
* BoardingSchool: The action kicks off when she actually ''returns'' from there.
%%* ForgottenChildhoodFriend: Majic's, to a degree.
* HotBlooded: Has a quick temper and doesn't always thinks things over.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Can be kinda selfish sometimes, to say it politely. She mostly grows out of it with time, and later it's more or less PlayedForLaughs.
* MeaningfulName: Claíomh is named after the sword in Irish Mythology, Claíomh Solais.
* OrphansPlotTrinket: The Sword of Baltanders is actually a gift from her DisappearedDad, hence why she tags along: to make sure Orphen will give it back to her.
* TheOjou: Mostly the NiceGirl type, unless she has a mood swing.
* PluckyGirl: And holy shit, HOW. When she and her sister got kidnapped by Bloody August, Claíomh attempted to save herself and Mariabelle almost without hesitation. It didn't work since, well, it was a girl against a dragon, but the thought does count.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: While her name is officially rendered in English as Claíomh for J-Novel Club's light novel releases, the ADV adaptation of the 1998 TV series calls her Cleao and the English release of the [=PlayStation 2=] game uses Cleo.
* {{Tsundere}}: A Type A: she's harsh and HotBlooded, but very gentle when given the chance.
%%* TeamMom: Wants to be this very badly.

!!Majic Rin
-->''Voiced by'': Creator/OmiMinami (1998 series), Creator/YuusukeKobayashi (2020 series), Creator/ChihiroSuzuki (Adult) (Drama CD) (Japanese); Creator/SpikeSpencer (1998 TV series), Ry [=McKeand=] (2020 TV Series) Justin Jon Ross (video game) (English); Jorge Araneda (LA-Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/majic_lin_14259.jpg]]

* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler: In Revenge, Esperanza does this to him. Orphen manages to undo it.]]
* DubNameChange: His name is Magnus in the English dub of ''Scion of Sorcery''.
* EvilCostumeSwitch: [[spoiler: Interestingly enough, it's his standard outfit in most parts of the ''Haguretabi'' novels (except for the hat)]]
%%* HeroWorshipper: Towards Orphen
%%* NiceGuy
* WeCanRuleTogether: [[spoiler: In ''Revenge'', Esperanza offers to tutor him to unlock his potential as a sorcerer. Majic politely refuses, though... and he then gets BrainwashedAndCrazy.]]
* WholesomeCrossdresser: In ''Revenge'', though for a single episode

!!Leki
-->''Voiced by'': Creator/KonamiYoshida (Japanese); Creator/SerenaVarghese (English)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/leki_orphen_5845.jpg]]

* BadassAdorable: A baby dragon with the shape of... a black little puppy.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: As said above, he is the offspring of a dragon.
* TeamPet: Pretty much his role in the plot is being the group's cute pet. Claíomh even carries him in her arms many times, like a real puppy!

[[/folder]]

[[folder: The Tower Of Fangs]]

!!Childman Powderfield
-->''Voiced by'': Creator/JojiNakata (1998 series), Creator/DaisukeNamikawa (2020 series) (Japanese), Creator/JasonDouglas (1998 TV Series English), Creator/JMichaelTatum (2020 TV Series, English) Sandro Larenas (LA-Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/childman_powderfield_14537.jpg]]

* TheAce: He's the most [[TallDarkAndHandsome handsome]], skilled, admired, kind-hearted of the magic teachers in the Tower.
* GoodAllAlong: In every introduction, he comes across as an antagonist who's there to get in Orphen's way and kill Azalie but after a while, it turns out that he deeply cares about Azalie and wants to save her. It just so happens that he has a really bad case of PoorCommunicationKills, leaving Orphen in the dark about his true intentions and by the time Orphen finds out about his true nature, it's already too late to help him.
* GrandTheftMe: [[spoiler: Azalie uses White Magic on him, so she ends up in his body... and he becomes Bloody August. He offers little to no resistence, though, [[MyGreatestFailure due to the guilt he feels in regards to her horrible condition]].]]
* PoorCommunicationKills: Had he been clearer on how [[spoiler: he wanted to help Azalie and not to kill her]], lots of drama would've been avoided.
* SparedByTheAdaptation: Played with in the original anime, which had him [[spoiler:be reincarnated as [[SomeoneToRememberHimBy Azalie's baby]] after Bloody August's form was destroyed, leaving the two souls with only one possible vessel.]] In the others [[spoiler:he dies too soon for Orphan to find a means to save them both.]]
* StarCrossedLovers: Him and [[spoiler: Azalie]], since she deeply loved him and he's implied to have some feelings for her, but the whole [[spoiler: Bloody August]] deal tore them apart.

!!Hartia
-->''Voiced by'': Creator/RyotaroOkiayu (1998 series), Creator/TaitoBan (2020 series) (Japanese); Randy Sparks (English), Jorge Araneda and Tito Bustamante (LA-Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/heartia_allenford_14536.jpg]]

* CainAndAbel: Milder case with Orphen, as he is on the side of the Tower and not on Orphen's. He still cares for him, though, and tries to TakeAThirdOption by using a disguise to help him. [[spoiler: It HORRIBLY backfires.]]
* BunnyEarsLawyer: He's actually a pretty decent spellcaster ''and'' a good magic teacher, quirky and all.
%%* ButtMonkey: As "Black Tiger".
* FanGirl: Of a certain novel hero named the Black Tiger. He then dresses up as the Black Tiger and tries to assume the guise of its main character and namesake on occasion.
* HeKnowsTooMuch: [[spoiler: Not only does he find out ''what'' was going on with Childman!Azalie, but that Lai had become a HumanPopsicle. Childman!Azalie almost kills him right there, and he barely escapes to Orphen and Co.'s side.]]
* HeyYou: Claíomh and Majic ''never'' refer to him as Hartia, but as "the shrimp man". To be fair, at first they didn't know his name, but once they did it... well, it just stuck. The ''only'' two times Claíomh called him by his given name happened [[spoiler: in their BirdsOfAFeather scene]] and while speaking to Orphen [[spoiler: about Bloody August!Azalie.]]
%%* LargeHam: When dressed as the Black Tiger.

!!Lai
-->''Voiced by'': Creator/KatsumiToriumi (Japanese), Creator/VicMignogna (English), Carlos Carvajal (LA-Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lai_orphen_20704.jpg]]

* HeKnowsTooMuch: [[spoiler: He was the first one to discover the truth about Azalie being in Childman's body.]]
* HumanPopsicle: [[spoiler: Rather than killing Lai, Azalie freezes him like this and then hides him. He's released almost at the end.]]
* {{Seers}}: This is supposed to be his biggest skill, and he even has a CrystalBall for such effects.
* TallDarkAndHandsome: He is very, ''very'' good-looking, plus rather quiet and polite.

!!Azalie Caith Sith
-->''Voiced by'': Creator/EmiShinohara (1998 series), Creator/YokoHikasa (2020 series) (Japanese); Creator/ChristineAuten ( 1998 TV Series, English), Creator/LindsaySeidel (2020 TV Series, English) Loreto Ayala (LA-Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/azalie_cait_sith_20701.jpg]]

* AdaptationalJerkass: In the first anime, she did her share of shady things but was otherwise portrayed as being a tragic BrokenBird character. In the 2020 anime, she's a bigger jerk than ever, deliberately going out of her way to troll and cause trouble for Orphen and other students just for her own amusement. That being said... see TookALevelInKindness.
* AdaptationalKarma: While a tragic character, Azalie in the first anime did a lot of shady things and never gets called out on any of it, with Orphen going out of his way to defend her and try to save her to the very end. In the 2020 anime, Orphen calls her out on the the wrongs she's done to him and Childman and beats her down in a swordfight.
* BrokenAce: She was the most talented and beautiful witch from her generation... but also bitter, sad and more ambitious than she should be.
* BrokenBird: She had deep, ''deep'' insecurities, plus an immense UnrequitedLove. Both factors mixed and ''Hell broke loose''.
* DarkMagicalGirl: An antagonistic figure and powerful magic user, with a deeply sad backstory and lots of bitterness behind her cold mask.
* ImportantHaircut: Chopped her long hair off when she started studying magic for real.
* GrandTheftMe: [[spoiler: Happens late in the anime, due to being a PragmaticAdaptation. Happens early on otherwise.]]
* LadyOfBlackMagic: Beautiful, stylish, and ''damn deadly'' with her magical spells.
* LoveMakesYouEvil: [[spoiler: Had Childman not rejected Azalie's love for him...]]
* TookALevelInKindness: While 2020 Azalie is undoubtedly a more mean-spirited character than the first anime's Azalie, she also puts in more work to redeem herself, particularly during the Battle of Kimluck, most notably saving Claíomh's life, rescuing Orphen from drowning, and most importantly [[spoiler: sacrificing her own life to stop the Goddess and save Orphen and the whole world during the final episode of the second season]].

!!Leticia "Tisha" Macready
-->''Voiced by'': Creator/KotonoMitsuishi (1998 series), Creator/ShizukaIto (2020 series) (Japanese); Creator/ChristineAuten (English)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/leticiamaccreadyfull2765069.png]]

* CoolBigSis: In large part due to Azalie being an AdaptationalJerkass in the 2020 series who cares more about her own amusement and getting a rise out of everyone, including Orphen, this role is taken up more by 2020 Leticia who plays the part of the understanding and mature older sister figure who was also there for Orphen in his younger years and truly knows Orphen as a person inside and out.
* DemotedToExtra: In the first season of the 2020 anime, she was a more prominent supporting character. By the second season, she's reduced to a few, sparse flashback scenes.
* LadyOfBlackMagic: A longhaired beauty who handles her magic very gracefully.

!!Eris
-->''Voiced by'': Asa Shirakura (Japanese)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eris_orphen_62748.jpg]]

* BoyishShortHair: She's far more straightforward than the long-haired Fienna, and her hair is extremely short
* ButtMonkey: ''Something'' silly or humiliating is slated to happen to her whenever she and Hartia go out in adventures...
* MagicalGirlWarrior: As cute as she's skilled in offensive magic.
* SarcasticDevotee: Yeah, she is Hartia's pupil, but she's among those who deal the snark the most to him. Then again he ''does'' make her put on silly fairy dresses...
* {{Tsundere}}: Fairly sweet to Majic, but has quite the short fuse to everyone else and ''specially'' to Hartia.
%%* UnluckyChildhoodFriend: To Majic

!!Shastanasi
-->''Voiced by'': Yoshiko Okamoto (Japanese), Marcy Bannor (English)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shasutadeji_62746.jpg]]

* EmptyShell: [[spoiler:After she is OutGambitted and curb stomped by Childman!Azalie, she is seen sitting on a chair and... well, just being there.]]
* SmugSnake: A very, very arrogant and irritating old woman who thinks she's far more skillful than she actually is.

!!Flameheart
-->''Voiced by'': Creator/TakehitoKoyasu (Japanese), Ty Mayberry (English), Andrés Skoknic (LA-Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/flameheart_orphen_20700.jpg]]

* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas and MommasBoy: ''And how''. [[spoiler: Flameheart was a mere SmugSuper of sorts, but once Shastanasi was an EmptyShell, he went ''hell bent'' in revenge.]]
* SmugSnake: Just like his mother, he's arrogant as Hell and does ''not'' hav the charm and the magic to back it up.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Friends]]
!!Tristiny Everlasting
-->''Voiced by'': Kazue Komiya (Japanese), Brianna Roberts (English)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tishtiny_everlasting_62729.jpg]]

* ApronMatron: She's a very motherly lady, and is almost always seen wearing an apron as she takes care of the Everlasting household.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: [[spoiler: She's the first one to actually ask Lycoris about her family, accidentally undoing her FakeMemories before it's time.]]

!!Mariabella Everlasting
-->''Voiced by'': Creator/SatsukiYukino (Japanese), Creator/KellyManison (English)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mariabella_everlasting_20702.jpg]]

* CoolBigSis: She is Claíomh's older sister.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: She has blonde hair and is also a NiceGirl.
* NiceGirl: Mariabella is one of the nicest people you would ever meet.
* TheOjou: Again, the NiceGirl type

!!Stephanie
-->''Voiced by'': Creator/SakikoTamagawa (Japanese), Karen Coffer (English), Rosario Zamora (LA-Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stephanie_14538.jpg]]
* BespectacledCutie: A rather cute young lady whose glasses add to her charm.
* DealWithTheDevil: [[spoiler: Had to do one against her will, with a demon who wanted to kill Orphen and threatened her with destroying her town if she didn't "help". Orphen notices and tries helping her to get free.]]
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: [[spoiler: Her boyfriend Tim is a NiceGuy from her hometown.]]
* TeamMom: She was Orphen's first companion, and she actually sorta coaches Claíomh on how to take the torch as such.

!!Lycoris Nielsen
-->''Voiced by'': Creator/TomokoKawakami (Japanese), Creator/LuciChristian (English), Keyros Guillén (LA-Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lycoris_neilsonpng.png]]
%%* BespectacledCutie: A super cute girl with glasses, also BlindWithoutThem. %%Whats her personality like?
* BreakTheCutie: The poor girl is completely dragged through the mud towards the end of the TV series.
* CuteClumsyGirl: She is a clumsy girl.
* DrivenToSuicide: [[spoiler:Twice. First, when she realizes she's been DeadAllAlong. Second, to stop her family and friends from fighting to death.]]
* FakeMemories: [[spoiler: Escalena wiped out her memories after her first suicide attempt, then sent her out with fake ones of being an orphan and a membress of the Royal Cavalry. Esperanza must periodically play a magical song to keep the charade, and when Orphen stops her from doing that ''and'' Tristiny poses her a well-intentioned ArmorPiercingQuestion, Lycoris remembers what happened ''and almost shatters''.]]

!!Fienna
-->''Voiced by'': Creator/YuiHorie (Japanese), Creator/KiraVincentDavis (credited as Kira Maltezos) (English), Keyros Guillén (LA-Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fiena_14535.jpg]]

* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler: The Dragon God once found her corpse, then decided to revive her so she'd be his medium]]
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: To save Orphen, his friends, and her village.]]
* FriendToAllLivingThings: As [[spoiler: the medium and priestess for a Dragon God.]]
* MarkOfTheBeast: Has one on her chest [[spoiler: which symbolizes the pact with the Deep Dragon.]]
* SilkHidingSteel: A sweet and softspoken little girl... who actually [[spoiler: manages to save Orphen from a ''really'' pissed off Deep Dragon's attacks.]]
* StarCrossedLovers: She and Majic, since [[spoiler: she can't leave her village or she ''will'' die.]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Enemies]]

!!Bloody August
[[quoteright:340:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bloodyaugust.jpg]]

* EldritchAbomination: More so in the original anime, as the reboot gives her a much more conventional dragon-like design. It was meant to reflect [[spoiler:the sword of Baldander's ability to transform those cut by it according to its wielder's intent going haywire when Azalie tried using it on ''herself'' and the intense pain made her lose focus]].
* WasOnceAMan: Or rather [[SamusIsAGirl woman]], specifically [[spoiler:Azalie. And later, Childman.]]

!!Escalena / Erukarena
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/escalena.jpg]]

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: She's this to all magic users in the world.
* BigBad: Of ''Revenge''. It doesn't become clear until the final few episodes, but the show's MythArc wouldn't have happened if [=McGregor=] hadn't made a DealWithTheDevil with her in order to save his daughters.
* CurbstompBattle: [[spoiler:Gives one to [[TheAce Orphen]] of all people, and does so while laughing and having fun. [[NighInvulnerability It's the only character in the entire series that Orphen couldn't even hope to defeat by any means]]]]
* CreepyChild: [[spoiler:Despite actually being ReallySevenHundredYearsOld, [[SleepModeSize she]] has the appearance of a very creepy-looking little girl.]]
* EldritchAbomination: [[spoiler:Downplayed. Escalena isn't unlikable, she doesn't drive anyone insane and her morality is anything but [[BlueAndOrangeMorality blue and orange]], but her true form is disturbingly out-of-the-ordinary compared to anything Orphen has ever fought; a monstrous, tentacled AncientEvil powerful enough to annihilate the entire planet.]]
* FauxAffablyEvil: She acts cute and cheery but in reality she's completely cold-hearted.
* JustToyingWithThem: [[spoiler: She really has fun fighting both Orphen and McGregor in her child form as a magic user herself. Even when it seems that they achieve to get the edge in battle and deliver her a fatal blow, it was just a [[DefensiveFeintTrap trap]]]]
* NighInvulnerability: Her huge physical size ensures that she can't be killed by anything short of a nuclear nuke, which needless to say doesn't exist in the series universe. She being a magical monster herself, ensures she can't be killed by offensive spells as she excels in both offensive and defensive magic.
* PerpetualSmiler: And when she doesn't smile... [[FauxAffablyEvil It's best to RUN]].
* SealedEvilInACan: Even [[AdvancedAncientHumans The Celestial Beings]] themselves couldn't find a way to put her out for good, so they had to seal her.
* WouldHurtAChild: What Escalena puts innocent CuteClumsyGirl Lycoris Neilsen through is twisted. She forces Lycoris' elder sister Esperanza to repeatedly edit her sister's memories, then directly tries to kill Lycoris after murdering Esperanza right in front of her eyes. It's made creepier by the fact Escalena herself, [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld despite being anything but]], looks like a little girl not much younger than Lycoris.

!![=McGregor=] Nielsen
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mcgregor.jpg]]

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: to Orphen
* AwesomenessByAnalysis
* BadassBookWorm
* CombatPragmatist
* PapaWolf: [[spoiler:VERY dark take on this, as to save his daughters from death he makes a DealWithTheDevil with Escalena.]]
* TragicVillain: [[spoiler:Never wanted to sacrifice any sorcerers to Escalena in the first place, but Escalena's got him trapped in a deal to save the lives of his two terminally ill daughters. When he learns Escalena never intended on keeping her promise and kills the older of his two children, he realizes all the death has been for nothing and [[RedemptionEqualsDeath gives his life]] to help put Escalena down]].

!!Esperanza Nielsen
-->''Voiced by'': Music/MegumiHayashibara (Japanese), Kelli Cousins (English; 1st voice), Creator/TiffanyGrant (English; 2nd voice), Maureen Herman (LA-Spanish)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/esperanza.jpg]]
* BrokenBird: Lampshaded by Claíomh, who compares to her to a bird with broken wings.
* DarkMagicalGirl: A deeply wounded young woman who was utterly broken in her past, and now serves Escalena despite still being a kind person.
%%* EvilRedhead: More like "throughly broken redhead"
* ForcefulKiss: Kisses Orphen on the lips to taunt him. [[spoiler: And to hide what she truly wanted.]]
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: [[spoiler: How she died, stabbed through the chest with Escalena's roots.]]
* KnightTemplarBigSister: [[spoiler: To her beloved Lycoris. She even admits it to Orphen and later to Claíomh]].
* LoveMakesYouEvil: For her adored little sister, Esperanza would kill and die. [[spoiler: And she does both.]]
* TheReveal: [[spoiler: She was [[DeadAllAlong the girl who truly died]], not Lycoris.]]

!![[spoiler: Flamesoul]]
-->''Voiced by'': Creator/TakehitoKoyasu (Japanese); Creator/ChrisPatton (English); Andrés Skoknic (LA-Spanish)

* AngstySurvivingTwin: [[spoiler: The remaining brother of Flameheart, hellbent on revenge for the death of his family.]]
* MommasBoy: [[spoiler: Just like Flameheart, he is ''obsessed'' with his mother Shastanasi and VERY angry after her death and his brother's.]]
* SmugSnake: A very, very smug mage who's far less skilled than he thinks he is
* YouHaveFailedMe: At the receiving end, from [[spoiler: Escalena herself.]]

!!Volkan and Dortin
-->''Volkan voiced by'': Creator/KazueIkura (1998 series), Marie Mizuno (2020 series) (Japanese); Creator/JohnSwasey ( 1998 tv series), Creator/BrittneyKarbowski (2020 TV Series, English) Creator/ChrisCox (video game) (English); Viviana Navarro (LA-Spanish)\\

[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dortin_14264.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:250:Dortin]]

* AllTrollsAreDifferent: Their race. And well, Volkan tries to [[{{Troll}} troll]] Orphen more than once. In truth, if they weren't explicitly called trolls in the story, one might either think of them as being dwarves or even a pair of exceedingly obnoxious and troublesome children.
* BullyingADragon: Somehow it never crosses Volkan's mind that antagonizing a powerful sorcerer he owes money to, and who, more importantly, doesn't like him, is a very bad idea.
* TheChewToy: There is almost literally NO episode where these two don't get the shortest end of the stick, and it's almost always PlayedForLaughs.
* TheConscience: To Dortin's credit, he at least realizes when Volkan's schemes are going way too far, even if Volkan never listens to him and goes through with it anyways.
* KarmicButtMonkey: A lot of bad things tend to happen to Volkan and each and every time, it's the kind of punishment he's brought upon himself for all the trouble he stirs up.
* TheLoad: The number of times the two of them cause some kind of trouble for Orphen with their antics far outnumber any amount of times they contribute anything to help out Orphen and his friends.
* OpaqueNerdGlasses: Dortin wears these.
* PetTheDog: [[spoiler: They find an injured and almost dying Bloody August!Childman... and they actually befriend and take care of him.]]
* SitcomArchnemesis: Volkan is not an actual villain in the series but he has an antagonistic relationship with the main character and ''always'' rubs Orphen the wrong way, with Orphen sometimes taking it out on Volkan in comically violent ways. The two never get along, always butt heads in petty squabbles, and Orphen always considers Volkan a pain in the ass to deal with.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Volkan "The Great"
