[[folder:In General]]

"Meteor Freak" is the term used to refer to the humans that obtained superpowers through exposure to [[GreenRocks the Kryptonite]] meteor rocks that arrived on Earth with Clark. Such meteor infection often results in [[WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity psychosis]], resulting in them becoming the VillainOfTheWeek and spreading terror throughout Smallville and Metropolis.
-----
* AdaptationOriginConnection: Some of the Meteor Freaks are established characters in the comics that have completely different origins, like Plastique and Parasite.
* KarmicTransformation: A lot of them get their powers related to something that they are in contact with or close to during the exposure to the meteors. Like Coach Arnold who got his PlayingWithFire powers during a sauna or Desirée Atkins who got her LivingAphrodisiac powers while she was having sex with her boyfriend.
* MagicMeteor: They gained their powers through contact with alien meteors from Krypton.
* MassSuperEmpoweringEvent: They all gained their powers when [[GreenRocks the Kryptonite]] meteor shower of in which Clark first arrived on Earth and at the same time giving many of the locals odd powers and/or altering their personality sometimes and causing them to become the VillainOfTheWeek. There are a few humans empowered by Kryptonian technology, and it's vaguely implied that there's some Kryptonian ancestry among humanity.
* TragicVillain: While some are shown to have no regret over trying to kill others and a few were already horrible people before gaining powers, it's worth noting that it's implied that gaining their powers altered their personalities and many end up with powers that force them to kill others to survive. And at the end of the day, the majority of the characters are just teenagers forced into horrible situations.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: A lot of the meteor freaks end up going insane and evil, with it being implied that kryptonite causes a psychosis that enhances their worst characteristics.
* VillainOfTheWeek: What the great majority of them end up becoming.

* HoistByHisOwnPetard: He electrocutes himself after Clark gets him wet.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: After he electrocutes himself.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Due to slowed aging, he still looks like a teenager when he awakes from his coma, but is really in his late 20s.
* PromWrecker: He plans to use his powers to electrocute people at the Homecoming Dance to get revenge on those who tormented him in High School.
* PsychoElectro: Due to the meteor shower, he is capable of making electric shockwaves from his hands and uses the ability to kill people and jumpstart cars to escape.
* ShockAndAwe: Can control electricity.
* StarterVillain: He is the first foe Clark faces.
* SympatheticMurderer: He goes after the people that left him tied to a log and endangered him due to the meteor shower.
* WeaksauceWeakness: Water. Incidentally, water is also the weakness of [[WesternAnimation/SupermanTheAnimatedSeries Livewire]] and [[WesternAnimation/StaticShock Static]].

A former geek who gained proportionate abilities to insects, using them to attack people. He kidnapped and tried to mate with Lana before being stopped by Clark. In Season 10, he reflects on his life and that of Clark's, declaring to Lois Lane that Clark inspired him to be a better person.
----
%%* AbusiveParents: His mother. How is she abusive?
* AnimalisticAbilities: Greg has a variety of insect-themed abilities such as WallCrawling, ProjectileWebbing and shedding his skin.
* ContinuityNod: His random reappearance and HeelFaceTurn in Season 10 is a possible reference to a ''Chloe Chronicles'' story where some of the bugs from his swarm form are shown to be in the possession of a scientist working on both giving himself powers and finding a cure for meteor freaks (if not for the powers, then at least the kryptonite psychosis).
* EvilFormerFriend: He was childhood friends with Clark and Pete, but after his parents' divorce he stopped spending time with them and Clark described their present relationship as "seeing seeing each other in the halls". By Season 10 he's no longer evil, and is grateful that Clark stopped him when he did.
* TheGlassesGottaGo: After being bitten by meteor-infected insects.
* HeelFaceReturn: By Season 10, he has gone through this off-screen and at first Clark is convinced he's planning to get revenge when he starts talking to Lois. However he instead tells Lois to tell Clark thanks, as he stopped Greg from hurting more people and put him on the path to fixing his life.
* InASingleBound: He can leap great distances.
* SelfMadeOrphan: Greg killed his own mother.
* ShadowArchetype: Like Clark, he's an unpopular teenager with geeky interests who has a crush on Lana Lang and often spies on her. However, Greg doesn't have any friends, his interests clearly keep him from connecting to others, and his crush on Lana is far more obsessive.
* SpiderManSendUp: Nerdy loner who gains insect related powers and at one point shoots webs from his mouth? Pretty obvious who he's based on.
* SuperSpeed: He can move fast enough to disappear from the sight of ordinary people.
* SuperStrength: He could grapple with Clark.

* SelfMadeOrphan: With her powers, she used her boyfriend to kill her parents and get her inheritance.
* SexGoddess: Her LivingAphrodisiac powers combined with her natural sex appeal make her one, which is how she keeps a hold on [[TheCasanova Lex]] for so long. A DeletedScene shows them post-sex, with Lex exhausted and breathless while [[DestructoNookie wine bottles broken around them.]]
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: When Jonathan catches her SkinnyDipping she doesn't bother covering herself when leaving the pool to talk to him.
* TeacherStudentRomance: Attempts to seduce her student, Clark so she could later convince him to kill Lex. It backfires when her powers don't work on Clark and he's too moral to willingly cheat on Lex's wife.

* ItsAllAboutMe: Ian taunts Clark with the idea that he's only investigating Ian because he's jealous that Lana and Chloe are now interested in him, and frames the 'suicide note' he wrote for Lana and Chloe as though they'd rather die than not be with Ian.
* KilledOffForReal: Courtesy of Eric Summers in ''Asylum''. A deleted scene had him die in his first episode. But it was changed to his double falling to his death instead.
* MesACrowd: Can split into two.

!Alicia Baker

A girl with the power to teleport and a serious crush on Clark. She's an antagonist in Season 3, attempting to murder Lana, but returns in Season 4, having reformed. She is murdered by a meteor freak hater shortly after revealing Clark's secret to Chloe; both of these factors cause Chloe to change her stance toward meteor freaks.
----
* AchillesHeel: She can't teleport if she's touching or surrounded by lead.
* AcquiredPoisonImmunity: She must have an enhanced resistance to lead poisoning, since her powers were restrained by a bracelet that released small amounts of lead into her bloodstream for years.
* AlternateSelf: Has one on [[Series/TheFlash2014 Earth-Prime]] named Grace Gibbons.
* AntiVillain: Alicia is a Type II.
* BackForTheDead: She returns to Season 4 and has a romance with Clark only to be killed shortly after.
* ClingyJealousGirl: She becomes obsessed with Clark, hanging pictures in his locker, scratching out Lana's picture in his yearbook, and redecorating his loft.
* CuteAndPsycho: She's very pretty and extremely unstable.
* ExactWords: She says she wouldn't tell Clark's secret to anyone as long as she is alive. No, she didn't wait till she is dead...no one said anything about a little demonstration to a very shocked Chloe.
* FemmeFatale: She teleports into Clark's bedroom to kiss him, which is fine because Clark's glad that he has someone to be with who's like him, but then she turns obsessed and decides she's going to have Clark no matter what it takes.
* ForgottenFallenFriend: Frustratingly so. Clark mourns her death for the episode she's murder and then never mentions her again, 3 episodes after her death he's already pining over Lana again.
* HeelFaceTurn: In Season 4.
* KilledOffForReal: Courtesy of [[KnightTemplar Tim Westcott]].
* MsFanservice: shows a fair amount of skin during her first two appearances, especially during her and Clark's honeymoon before he loses the red kryptonite necklace.
* MurderTheHypotenuse: Attempts to do this to Lana.
* NotMeThisTime: When citizens start getting attacked in her final episode.
* PsychoExGirlfriend: She becomes way too obsessed with Clark, to the point of attempting to kill Lana and almost raping Clark.
* ReformedButRejected: By most of the people in Smallville, mostly due to what she'd done to her father and Lana. But post-mortem, at least Chloe, Lois, and Clark's parents showed remorse for her (especially Chloe, for obvious reasons).
* ShadowArchetype: What if Chloe had all the ability to act on her crush, and none of the restraint?
* SmallRoleBigImpact: She revealed Clark's identity to Chloe. Something that changed the way Chloe related to Clark for the rest of the series.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Alicia is reserved or hostile around most people (initially having to keep a distance because of fear of her powers being exposed, and later because she's viewed warily after her stay in a mental hospital) but is quite excitable and warm around Clark, except during a couple {{Yandere}} scenes in her first episode.
* TakingTheBullet: Literally does so for Clark to protect his secret.
* {{Teleportation}}: She can teleport wherever she wants, as long as she isn't using lead.
* TemporaryLoveInterest: After reconciling, she becomes Clark's girlfriend until she is killed by Tim Westcott.
* UnexplainedRecovery: Overcomes her insanity.
* WeaksauceWeakness: Her teleportation is blocked by lead.
* {{Yandere}}: She has an expressive face with kind eyes and a bright smile. In the beginning of the episode, she uses her power to protect Clark's powers, but by the end, she tried to stab Lana to death for her past with Clark. At one point, [[NearRapeExperience she gives him Red Kryptonite and nearly rapes him until she changes her mind]].

This may have something to do with this episode being directed by Michael Rosenbaum, who always wanted Lex to be evil.
