!!The Main Cast
[[folder:General]]
[[quoteright:333:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Shingu_Secret_of_the_Stellar_Wars_2_7497.jpg]]

[[caption-width-right:333:Just your regular middle-school students. [[note]]From right to left: Harumi, Hajime, Muryou, Shun, and Kyouichi, with Hachiyou and Naiyuta in the back[[/note]]]]

The six students of Misumaru Middle School that Hajime befriends appear quite normal, but as he discovers, there's more to the kids than what their appearances suggest.
----
* ComesGreatResponsibility: A defining trait; save for Hajime, the ([[BreakingTheFourthWall mostly]]) normal one, all of the main cast recognize the repercussions of using their powers irresponsibly.
%%* GhostMemory
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: What these kids all appear to be, when they actually have superpowers of their own. Hajime fits the bill more than the others do, though there's his tendency for BreakingTheFourthWall...
* PsychicPowers: All of the Student Government members seem to have some sort of psychokinetic power.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Hajime is a Class Representative, while his six friends are all Student Covernment members. They handle their positions responsibly.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Hajime Murata]]
--> '''Voiced by''': Creator/KenjiNojima (JP), Billy Regan (EN)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shingu1_1.png]]

The narrator of our story. He's a middle-schooler, and the class rep for 2nd year homeroom C. After discovering that Muryou and Kyouichi have astonishing powers, he decides to keep track of all the strange events that start to unfold - but he soon finds himself more deeply involved than he bargained for. Hajime is very social and mature for his age, and adjusts well to even the most bizarre situations.
----
* AudienceSurrogate: Right from the first episode, Hajime narrates his adventures and experiences so the watchers will understand what happens to him and his friends.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: Hajime Murata occasionally turns to the audience and comments. Of course, [[LampshadeHanging this hasn't gone unnoticed]], and other characters ask who he is talking to and think he is strange. Kazuo Murata, Hajime's father, also does this when he first shows up. "[[LineageComesFromTheFather Like father]], [[SharedFamilyQuirks like son]]".
* ClassRepresentative: He's easy-going, but feels responsible for the students in his class. This leads to him going to the roof of the gym to try stop Muryou and Kyouichi from fighting in the first episode.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: His brown hair matches his brown eyes.
* GhostMemory
* KidDetective: Though he's really a middle school student, Hajime acts like one, investigating the weird occurrences in Tokyo, everyone's unfazed reactions to the alien attacks, and the enigma that is Muryou Subaru.
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: Other than his ability to break the fourth wall, he doesn't have any of the outlandish abilities that his classmates have.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: As a Class Representative, he has to be one. In the first episode, he immediately ''runs'' as soon as Harumi tells him of a pending fight on the school roof, and tries to defuse the situation.
* SharedFamilyQuirks: Seems that his father has the same fourth wall-breaking ability as he does.
* TrashOfTheTitans: His bedroom is quite messy.
* UnfazedEveryman: He takes becoming part of the Masquerade surprisingly well.
* YouWouldntBelieveMeIfIToldYou: In the first episode, Hajime refrains from explaining to Mr. Yamamoto what happened between Muryou and Kyouichi, but who's going to believe the story of two students fighting each other with [[MindOverMatter telekinesis]]?
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Muryou Subaru]]
--> '''Voiced by''': Issei Miyazaki (JP), Daniel Kevin Harrison (EN)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shingu5.png]]

This mysterious transfer student came to Misumaru Middle School wearing a 20th century school uniform, something rarely seen in the year 2070. He's always calm and laid-back, but at the same time, he has secret powers that he rarely reveals. Little is known about Muryou; in fact, the more that's revealed about him, the more enigmatic he becomes. He seems to know something about the recent alien incidents, though, which makes Vice President Kyouichi instantly suspicious.
----
* ClarkesThirdLaw
* HighlyConspicuousUniform: There is NoDressCode in the futuristic Tokyo where everyone lives, so Muryou's otherwise normal uniform turns heads. One student thinks the uniform's actually for {{Cosplay}}.
%%* IdenticalGrandson
* NewTransferStudent: To Misumaru Middle School.
* NoSell: He is able to easily defend against, and repel, Kyouichi's explosive psychic attacks.
* OffscreenTeleportation: Displays this in the first episode; while he's talking to Hajime, the screen suddenly goes black for a second, then reappears at his house. Even Hajime was shocked.
* PsychicPowers: What Muryou seems to have. He was able to easily counter Kyouchi's psychic attacks, for one.

[[folder:Naiyuta Moriyama]]
--> '''Voiced by''': Romi Paku (JP), Angora Deb (EN)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shingu3_2.png]]

Vice President at Misumaru Middle School; she's an honor student who always goes by the rules. Daughter of the shrine priest at the local Tenmo Shrine, Naiyuta is very serious, almost to a fault. She has trouble expressing her emotions, and doesn't like the idea of depending on anyone else.
----
* CursedWithAwesome: [[spoiler:Feels this way.]]
* GirlishPigtails: Her black hair is styled into long pigtails, but she acts quite mature for her age.
* HeroicBSOD
* IdenticalGrandson: She learns she looked exactly like Lady Momoe, and like Lady Momoe had a problem with a person who acted exactly like Muryou. Unlike Lady Momoe who seemed to have ended up falling in love with this boy, she clearly likes the more down to earth Hajime.
* InTheBlood
* {{Miko}}: She's the daughter of a shrine priest.
* MindOverMatter: She telekinetically locks the door to the school roof so no one would see Muryou and Kyouichi's fight, and unlocks the door only after it finished.
* PsychicPowers: A trait among Student Government members.
%%* PursuingParentalPerils
%%* SamaritanSyndrome
%%* SecretLegacy
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: Towards the end of the story, she's clearly taken by Hajime. Hajime is a nice guy who is calm and understanding, although a bit goofy. Muryou is also a nice guy, but as time goes on it's clear that even her friends realize she likes Hajime. It seems to have truly become romantic when he helped her rally in episode 11.
* TheStoic: As mentioned in her bio, she has trouble expressing her emotions. A lot of the comedy from her character comes her having trouble keeping up this façade, or others breaking it. Although, she is competitive so in things like the sports festival she'll be more expressive if it's able to help her win. Her team's cheer where dressed as Momotaro and did a funny dance is a testament to this.
* TwoGirlsToATeam: She and Harumi are the only girls on the Student Government.
%%* WhiteMaskOfDoom
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Kyouichi Moriguchi]]
--> '''Voiced by''': Tomokazu Sugita (JP), Creator/DanGreen (EN)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shingu10.png]]

Misumaru Middle School's passionate Student Vice President. He has a black belt in martial arts and a lightning-quick temper to match, but he's also very loyal and will stand by his friends no matter what. There appears to be some kind of connection between Kyouichi and Harumi; but at the moment, neither of them seems willing - or able - to acknowledge it. Despite all his harsh words, Kyouichi actually does have a soft side, and is hard not to like.
----
* Foil: To Hachiyou, the Student President. Kyouichi gets angered very easily, while Hachiyou is usually calm, wise, and friendly... [[BewareTheNiceOnes until you piss him off]].
* HairTriggerTemper: He goes from calm to extremely angry with minimal provocation. A lot of it is hot air, and he mellows as the story goes on. Finally admitting he loves Harumi probably helped.
* HotBlooded: The most passionate and rash member of Misumaru Middle School's Student council.
%%* HeartIsAnAwesomePower
%%* InTheBlood
* JerkWithaHeartOfGold: Despite his HairTriggerTemper, he does care about his friends.
%%* KendoTeamCaptain
* PsychicPowers: Kyouichi seems to have the power to shoot explosive gouts of psychic energy.
* PursuingParentalPerils: [[spoiler:His parents were killed the last time Astral Deviation was done.]]
* UnskilledButStrong: Muryou lampshades how Kyouichi wields impressive power yet lacks the ability to control it.
* WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway: Kyouichi believes that his power is useless. In truth, his power is actually quite useful. His power is crucial to actually making the Shingu, everyone else just has the building blocks. When the enemy aliens send a small squad to attack the people of Tenmo, Harumi drags him out of the school. He believes it's because of this trope, but she explains to him he's actually the one who matters the most. Really, his character arc is learning to not think this way about himself as a person and his power.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Hachiyou Tsunamori]]
--> '''Voiced by''': Yuuji Ueda (JP), Brian Maillard (EN)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shingu6c.png]]

Hachiyou is the Student Government President. His personality is very calm and quiet, but with a certain commanding presence - whenever trouble appears, Hachiyou is quick to take charge. He's a bit like a father figure for the group; with only a word from Hachiyou, even the hot-headed Naiyuta and Kyouichi will calm down and follow his lead.
----
* BewareTheNiceOnes: It's not wise to piss him off.
* EyesAlwaysShut: His eyes are always closed slits.
* GentleGiant: Hachiyou's bigger than his fellow classmates, but he's really a nice guy.
%%* GravityMaster
%%* InTheBlood
* LargeAndInCharge: Due to his calm, friendly, and mediating personality, the giant Hachiyou is made President of the Student Council.
%%* ReasonableAuthorityFigure:
* StudentCouncilPresident: The President of the Student Government.

[[folder:Shun Morihata]]
--> '''Voiced by''': Yumiko Kobayashi (JP), Tara Jayne (EN)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shingu8.png]]

Shun is the Student Government Secretary. He's always cheerful, no matter what the situation; he's also very sharp, and eloquent with his words. Perhaps that's why he's so incredibly popular among the students (especially the ladies!) Shun has a lot of responsibilities around the school; he's often called on to be an announcer at events, and he's a member of the Theatre Club - a natural match for his acting skills.
----
* FriendlyRivalry: With Setsuna, Muryou's older sister, because of their similar power.
* TheGadfly: He really enjoys pushing Kyouichi and Nayuta's buttons.

%%* OlderThanTheyLook

[[folder:Harumi Mineo]]
--> '''Voiced by''': Masumi Asano (JP), [[Creator/EdenRiegel Jane Lingo (EN)]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shingu7.png]]

The Treasurer of the Student Government. She's quiet and demure, but also extremely resilient; she seems to deliberately avoid being in the spotlight, and usually hides her emotions. Harumi's role in the mystery that surrounds the Shingu is unclear, but one thing is certain - despite appearances, Harumi is a skilled fighter, and she takes her duties very seriously.
----
%%* GeneticMemory
* HeirToTheDojo: Her father is the master of one with Harumi expected to follow in his footsteps.
%%* InTheBlood
* TheQuietOne: Is usually restrained and meek with people, according to Kyoichi she used to be a more livelier Tomboy before they became the Chosen and gained their powers and subsequent responsibilities.
* SinsOfOurFathers: [[spoiler:The knowledge of her father's failure to protect the chosen ones of his generation weighs heavily on her mind]].

[[folder:Mr. Yamamoto]]
--> '''Voiced by''': Bon Ishihara (JP), Michael Alston Baley (EN)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shingu4.png]]

Hajime’s homeroom teacher. He has a very mellow personality and at first glance, he seems like an average, ordinary man. But Mr. Yamamoto has an important role in policing the area and he can pull off some surprising fighting techniques! Mr. Yamamoto is an easy-going, approachable guy, and he’s very popular among his students. Though it’s rarely mentioned, his first name is Tadakazu.
----
* BadassTeacher
* BlackBeadEyes:
* DeadpanSnarker: From the English dub of the first episode:
--> '''Student''': Teacher, is school closed?\\
'''Mr. Yamamoto''': Oh, you ''wish''.\\
(Everyone laughs)

Hiromi Isozaki [[spoiler:(if that is, in fact, her real name)]], is the phys-ed instructor and teacher at Misumaru Middle School.[[spoiler:…or is this just a front?]] She may seem unemotional at times, but she is very much attached to her students. No matter what happens, she always does her best to be calm and in control.
----
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: As mentioned above, she is very attached to her students.

Misumaru Middle School's Number One reporter. Best friends with Shun, whenever there's an event happening or something going down Hikaru is there for a hot scoop.

----

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shingu2.png]]

Muryou's older sister. She's a college student who lives in Tokyo, but she often comes to Lady Momoe's home to visit Muryou. In fact, it's become a trademark of hers to stop by with all sorts of sweets from various parts of Japan. She's got a cheerful disposition, and sometimes seems a bit scatterbrained. But like a lot of people in Hajime's life, there's more to her meets the eye… Setsuna has a lot of hidden qualities, but one thing's for certain - she's very good at looking after people.

--> '''Voiced by''': Noriko Hidaka (JP), Lisa Ortiz (EN)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shingu13a.png]]

Hajime's mother. She has two children, Futaba (an elementary-schooler) and, of course, Hajime (a middle schooler). She's a young mother, and currently takes care of the kids and the house while her husband is away. Casual and easygoing, Kyoko's pretty laid back when it comes to the kids doing their schoolwork, but she's very strict about their manners. Kyoko is a woman of many skills; not only is she good at running the Murata household, but she plays a mean game of Bam Bam Sumo Tournament, too.
----

[[folder:Futaba Murata]]
--> '''Voiced by''': Rie Kugimiya (JP), Angora Deb (EN)
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shingu16.png]]

Hajime's younger sister. She's a bubbly sixth grader who tends to fall in love with her brother's friends, a prime example being Muryou. Always optimistic, energetic and curious, Futaba is never afraid to speak her mind. She and her brother fight like cats and dogs... but in truth, she loves her brother a lot.
----
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: To her older brother, Hajime.
* DopeSlap: After Futaba calls Muryou a {{Geek}} for wearing an outdated school uniform, Hajime fake-punches her... then slaps her upside the head for her insensitivity.
* GirlishPigtails: Wears a pair of pigtails in her hair. One of her school friends has pigtails, too.
* InTheHood: She wears a red hooded dress [[SleevesAreForWimps with no sleeves]]. Subverted in that she never has her hood on.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: In the first episode, she runs away in terror from a huge dog.

The Head Mistress of the Sanemori family. She holds an important position among the people of Tenmo, but the nature of her position has yet to be revealed. Momoe seems to know the truth about many things - Tenmo, Naiyuta, even Muryou - so it's no surprise that when important events take place, Momoe is there to guide the way with her wisdom.

While most aliens do their best to blend in, Jiltosh’s happy-go-lucky persona has bubbled over into his appearance – you’ll always be able to spot his wavy curls and bright red Hawaiian shirt.
