The webisode series ''WebAnimation/ScreamOfTheShalka'' showed an alternate Ninth Doctor, traveling with the Master (trapped in an android body) and generally being angry about a lot of things. Despite being a bit moody in general, this Doctor also had his moments of witty sarcasm and gleeful mocking, and notably enjoyed showtunes a lot. This Doctor would appear one more time in a vampire story for the BBC's website.
----
* AdmiringTheAbomination: A trait he has in common with his canon counterparts.
* AllInTheManual: The only confirmation that this is the ninth incarnation of the Doctor comes from the novelisation, with the description stating that he is.
* AlwaysSaveTheGirl: Has a bit of a problem with this. It's implied this attitude got him into trouble in the past, but it's not elaborated upon.
* CelibateHero: [[Creator/PaulCornell Paul Cornell's]] notes in the novelization say The Doctor is asexual and not attracted to anybody but later admitted he liked the theory that The Doctor and The Master were lovers.
* CreepyGood: Looks a bit like a vampire. Still a decent enough guy.
* DeadpanSnarker: He's one of the ruder, more antagonistic incarnations of the Doctor, but also makes very bad jokes.
* GoodIsNotNice: He's a bit snarky, and quite abrasive compared to his last incarnation.
* InkSuitActor: He's drawn to look like his voice actor, Creator/RichardEGrant.
* LastOfHisKind: ''Magazine/DoctorWhoMagazine'' clarified that he was meant to be the last living Time Lord after aliens invaded Gallifrey, with the rest uploaded to The Matrix.
* NerdyInhaler: For no stated reason, he carries an inhaler, which he only uses because the Shalka are making the air bad.
* NoodleIncident: We never really find out why he's so traumatised, but it involved the loss of his last female companion.
* PerkyGoth: Wears dark clothing and looks rather creepy, but is as fun-loving as any of the other Doctors.
* SherlockHomage: He's been called Franchise/SherlockHolmes in space by Grant.
* SmugSuper: Makes some rather derogatory remarks about humans.
* SurvivorGuilt: It's implied that his companion may have died and he feels guilt over surviving when she didn't. Extras on the DVD reveal some of the original concepts, including the Doctor and the Master being the only Time Lords still with a physical body (or android casing) post some form of alien invasion, forcing the Time Lords into the Matrix.

A barmaid on the verge of a boredom-induced breakup, who meets the Doctor in the middle of an alien invasion and quickly gets caught up in his life.
----
* BodyHorror: A tiny worm thing starts growing out of her forehead. She gets better.
* CareerVersusMan: She once tried for a degree in History, but gave it up to live with Joe and deep down regrets the choice.
* DeadpanSnarker: Just put this serial down as WorldOfSnark and let it be.
* DamselInDistress: Of course.
* JumpedAtTheCall: Jumps at the chance to go traveling with the Doctor and the Master. Sadly, we never got to see any of their adventures beyond Scream of the Shalka.
