[[folder:Mario's Partners]]
[[WMG: Goombario]]
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Goombario_1684.jpg
->''"Hey Mario! I'm Goombario. I'm your biggest fan!"''

Mario's first partner throughout the entire series, Goombario is a small but highly intelligent young lad who knows something about everything. His main ability is his "Tattle" ability, which doesn't do much for you gameplay-wise, but which can provide advice to you and make HP bars for enemies you've used it on visible.
----
* AngelFaceDemonFace: In order to signify that he's a "good" Goomba, after years of evil ones, he has more rounded teeth and {{Blush Sticker}}s on his cheeks.
* AscendedFanboy: Of Mario. He's a fan of all of his adventures!
* BlushSticker
* ChargedAttack: He gets one on his first level-up.
* DeadpanSnarker: He's not as snarky as [[VideoGame/PaperMarioTheThousandYearDoor Goombella]], but he certainly has his moments.
* DiminishingReturnsForBalance: Multibonk.
* EnemyScan: His signature power.
* ExpositionFairy: Well, exposition Goomba, anyway.
* MonsterAllies: He's one of the earlier examples of a friendly Goomba in the series.
* MrExposition: He's basically a walking encyclopedia with GPS.
* UseYourHead: His primary attack is the Headbonk attack.

[[WMG: Kooper]]
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/200px-PM_Kooper_816.jpg
->''"I, Kooper, will follow you to the ends of the Earth!"''

Mario's second partner is Kooper, an adventurous Koopa. He idolizes the famous explorer Kolorado and wants to be just like him. He has the ability to fling his shell and come back like a boomerang--even across mid-air!
----
* AscendedFanboy: [[spoiler: Of Kolorado at the ending of the game.]]
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: How do you know he's the Koopa who's going to join you? Because he's the one with a blue shell!
* TheGenericGuy: He's pretty much the most normal of Mario's partners.
* HappyDance: His VictoryPose.
* KillItWithFire: His last attack sets his shell on ''fire'' before attacking. It's one of the few attacks that will put down a Dry Bones permanently.
* NakedPeopleTrappedOutside: This is what befalls him when you first meet him. You have to hunt down his shell from a rampant pack of Fuzzies.
* WingdingEyes: The effect of a successful dizzy shell.

[[WMG: Bombette]]
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/200px-PM_Bombette_1587.jpg
->''"See that? You see what I bring to the party Mario?"''

Mario's third partner is a fiery young Bob-Omb named Bombette. After he saves her from imprisonment in the Koopa Bros. Fortress, she pledges to join him on his quest. She can blow things up to destroy rocks and cracked walls, among other things. What we'd like to know, though, is how she's still... Actually, [[MST3KMantra never mind.]]
----
* ActionBomb: Explosive in every which way, and can kick some ass when fully leveled up.
* ActionGirl: Goes in hand with being an ActionBomb.
* PinkGirlBlueBoy: She appears to be one of the few Bob-Ombs to actually be pink.
* StuffBlowingUp: Her specialty.
* TertiarySexualCharacteristics: In addition to being [[PinkMeansFeminine pink]], she has a blonde braid for a fuse and a heart-shaped key.
* UnwantedHarem: A rare female example! Bombette has several admirers (including a ''really'' persistent DoggedNiceGuy), but isn't interested in any one of 'em.

[[WMG: Parakarry]]
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pdstfseg_18.gif
->''"Mail call!"''

This harried courier is Mario's 4th party member. He's a Paratroopa who uses his wings to help him deliver mail. He can carry Mario across short gaps, but he's also involved in a lengthy sidequest to nab one of the game's rarer badges.
----
* [[AlmightyJanitor Almighty Mailman]]: He can kick ass for someone who's always delivering packages and mail.
* TheCameo: Appears in the prologue of VideoGame/PaperMarioTheThousandYearDoor to deliver the Magical Map to Mario.
** PreviousPlayerCharacterCameo
** [[spoiler: In VideoGame/PaperMarioStickerStar , a letter from Parakarry can be found within [[JungleJapes World 5-1's]] junkyard. All of this, in addition to his Catch Card in ''Super Paper Mario'', makes him the only character who debuted in the first game to at least be mentioned in the whole series.]]
* EarlyBirdCameo: In the first game, he delivers Peach's invitation to Mario, well before he actually joins your party in Chapter 2.
* FlyingPostman
* TheKlutz: He has a habit of loosing mail whenever he tries to make a delivery.
* LetsGetDangerous: According to Goombario, despite his personality, he is downright intimidating in battle.

[[WMG: Lady Bow]]
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dsfvwzrgfestrhgrdyhuyt_6994.gif
->''"I swear on my own grave! Mario's innocent!"''

Mario's 5th party member is a member of the [[{{Ojou}} Boo gentry]] and is... ''just'' a little bit on the {{Tsundere}} side. She likes to smack people around with her fan. She can also make Mario briefly invisible... and intangible. Useful for avoiding enemy attacks!
----
* ActionGirl
* [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Bitch With A Heart Of Gold]]
* DemonHead
* NoblewomansLaugh: We never get to hear it, but the way she puts her fan by her head definitely suggests she ''has'' one. Then eventually, we get to hear it in the second game: "'''''GWAH HEE HAH!'''''"
* PaperFanOfDoom: It can even make people dizzy!
* PreviousPlayerCharacterCameo: Appears in Poshley Heights in ''VideoGame/PaperMarioTheThousandYearDoor'' after you beat the game.
* RichBitch: Don't worry -- she's not all bad.
* SpoiledSweet: She may have her rough edges, but she's all around pretty nice.
* {{Tsundere}}: Type A.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: She kidnaps the Star Spirit and holds it hostage until Mario deals with Tubba Blubba.

[[WMG: Watt]]
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Watt_924.gif
->''"You're super great! You're the greatest great guy! I think you're the best!"''

Mario's 6th party member is also his youngest. Mario rescues her from imprisonment in the Big Ghost's lantern in Shy Guy's Toy Box. She's a Sparky (specifically, the daughter of the original Li'l Sparky) and can light up, showing Mario hidden things. She ''also'' has the ability to attack people [[ArmorPiercingAttack ''through'' their defense]], making her incredibly useful in battle. [[ArmorPiercingSlap Armor Piercing Zap]]?
----
* AmbiguousGender: The game refers to her both as male ''and'' female. [[WordOfGod Nintendo confirmed she's female.]]
* ArmorPiercingAttack: Makes her quite useful against shelled enemies, especially BonusBoss Kent C. Koopa.
* BadassAdorable: Very, ''very'' adorable coupled with very, ''very'' badass.
* LittleMissBadass: Young as she is, she's capable in a fight and immune to electric damage.
* ShockAndAwe
* StandardStatusEffects: Paralysis.
* StatusBuff: Attack.

[[WMG: Sushie]]
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Sushi1000yeardoor_3160.gif
->''"Hmmm. Well, I've never heard of you before. You must be from far away or something."''

Mario's 7th party member swings it right back around in terms of age--Sushie the Cheep-Cheep is getting up there, but she's still got it! She can swim, and helps ferry Mario across water. Her water-type attacks are also pretty useful when fiery baddies come a-knockin'.
----
* BarrierWarrior: Water block
* ElementalRockPaperScissors: You pick her up right before the fire dungeon. ''[[SuspiciousVideoGameGenerosity Hmmm.]]''
* KillItWithWater: One of her primary methods of attack.
* MakingASplash
* NeverMessWithGranny: Literally a grandma--her daughter is having kids.
* PowerupMount: She can give you rides across bodies of water.
* TeamMom: She has aspects of this. Especially for the Yoshies she works for.

[[WMG: Lakilester]]
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Lakilester1000yeardoor_6838.gif
->''"World peace? Isn't that a bit melodramatic? But still, I gotta admit that there's a certainly manly charm to having such a noble purpose."''

Mario's final party member is a Lakitu--and he prefers to go by Spike. He starts out as a member of Bowser's cronies, but joins Mario so that he can shape up for his girlfriend, Lakilulu. He can carry Mario across hazardous surfaces--and it also happens to be faster than walking speed.
----
* BlowYouAway
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Mario must defeat him in battle before he joins.
* EmbarrassingFirstName: No wonder he wants to be called Spike.
* GoodFeelsGood: He decides that this is the case after helping you destroy the Puff-Puff machine, firmly cementing his HeelFaceTurn.
* HeelFaceTurn: Upon his defeat, he will join Mario's party.
* HyperSpaceArsenal
* JiveTurkey: Well, sort of.
* StatusBuff: Evasion.

[[WMG: Kammy Koopa]]
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kammykoopa_7634.jpg
->''"Congratulations on your victory, Your Viciousness! That's why you're the king!"''

An elderly female Magikoopa adorned in purple robes, Kammy Koopa is one of Bowser's top henchmen, seemingly on par with Kamek. Despite showing signs of senility, she is an adept magic user and strategist, at one point being described as "the brains behind Bowser".
----
* AlliterativeName
* BuffySpeak: When bombarding Bowser with compliments, she tends to just take a random word and stick "-ness" to the end of it.
* BumblingSidekick
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: She's conspicuously absent in ''Super Paper Mario'', possibly because it would've been too hard to insert her into the story due to Bowser being one of the main protagonists. ''Sticker Star'' (which has Kamek) has no excuse.
* CloudCuckooLander: In ''The Thousand-Year Door''.
* CoolShades: She foregoes the usual ScaryShinyGlasses worn by Magikoopas in favor of pink, triangular shades.
* DistaffCounterpart: To Kamek.
* TheDragon: To Bowser, in the ''Paper Mario'' series.
* DualBoss: With Bowser in ''The Thousand-Year Door''.
* FlyingBroomstick: A fancy one that looks and sounds like the "putt-putt-putt-putt" sounds TheAllegedCar often makes.
* ForegoneVictory: It's impossible to lose against her during the final battle in ''Paper Mario''.
* GadgeteerGenius: She apparently built the platform Bowser uses to power himself up in the final battle in ''Paper Mario''.
* GeometricMagic
* MakeMyMonsterGrow: Does this to Bowser in a cutscene in the first game and as a battle option in the second.
* [[KingMook Queen Mook]]
* TheRedMage: In ''The Thousand Year-Door''.
* RememberTheNewGuy: She just shows up in ''Paper Mario'' with little explanation.
* RobeAndWizardHat
* ShockAndAwe: Demonstrated ''once'' in ''Paper Mario'', when she forcibly strips Peach of her disguise using magical lightning.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Up until the introduction of Kamella in ''VideoGame/SuperMarioGalaxy''.
* [[SquishyWizard Squishy Witch]]: To ludicrous extremes in ''Paper Mario'', where she has only ten HP, and only uses one attack over and over again. It's not ''nearly'' the case in the second game, however.
* SycophanticServant: No matter how much Bowser tells her off, she still worships the ground he walks on.
* TookALevelInBadass: Like stated above, she's much more powerful in ''The Thousand-Year Door''.
* TheUnfought: In the first game, Mario never fights her. She is however the enemy in a ScriptedBattle fought by [[spoiler: Twink]]. Averted in the second game, wherein she fights alongside Bowser near the end of the final chapter.]]
* VillainsOutShopping: The Koopa Troop are pretty outgoing in general, but she stands out because of her attempts to organize picnics in peaceful meadows, and she enjoys watching Glitz Pit fights.
* WickedWitch

[[WMG: Jr. Troopa]]
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/JrTroopaPM_1870.png
->''"Don't think you've won, Mario! I swear to you, I'm gonna beat you SO bad next time!"''

A young Koopa that still wears his eggshell. He fancies himself a bully, but is easily beaten at the start of the game. He returns with a vengeance multiple times at various points in the game.
----
* [[spoiler:BaitAndSwitchBoss: Switched with the Koopa Bros.]]
* [[spoiler:TheCameo In the e-mail that the real Zip Toad sends in ''The Thousand-Year Door'' you he can be seen out the in the background out of the train window in the sky in his winged form in the image that's shown at the end of the message.]]
* BrattyHalfPint
* ButtMonkey: So much that by the time you defeat him near Shiver City, he's encased in a block of ice by the time you come back around.
* {{Determinator}}: Swims all the way to Yoshi's Island ''and all the way back'', [[spoiler: and somehow makes it all the way to the top of Bowser's floating castle at roughly the same time as Mario to knock out the Koopa Bros]] to put up yet another fight against Mario.
** Jr. Troopa's swimming trips is played with when he fights Mario in the port. His HP gets cut in half due to making two ''long'' swimming trips, which eats at his stamina. Of course, it doesn't make the fight any easier due to his newly learned tricks.
* ForgotAboutHisPowers: After losing the fight in the port, he remembers that he has wings and could have flown to the island and back, thus avoiding half of his HP getting drained at the start of the fight.
* GoldfishPoopGang: Starts as one, especially his second fight, where he's learned to [[PowerupLetdown close his shell]], but edges towards ThatOneBoss material in his penultimate and ultimate appearances, where he shows off some ''very'' powerful magic.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Jr. Troopa, after his swimming trips, takes notice that his HP has dropped from the swim.
* LoneWolfBoss
* RecurringBoss: Fought six times.
* WarmupBoss: At first... but he later gets much, MUCH tougher.
* WeWillMeetAgain

http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Koopa_bros_9148.jpg
->''"HI-YAAA! Here come the Koopa Bros!! Uh-huh! Oh yeah! We're the coolest of cool!"''

A quartet of masked Koopas that rely on teamwork to defeat their opponents. They start as the first major boss as the game, but return later for revenge... [[spoiler:but are promptly defeated by a deranged Jr. Troopa]]. [[Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles They look familiar]]...
----
* [[spoiler:BaitAndSwitchBoss: Their reappearance as stated above.]]
* {{Expy}}: While they're obviously parodies of the Ninja Turtles, they could be indirectly influenced by [[VideoGame/SuperMarioRPG the Axem Rangers]].
* FamilyThemeNaming: The German translation names each one after the Italian name of a [[EdibleThemeNaming fruit or vegetable]] that relates to their [[ColourfulThemeNaming color]].
* PaperThinDisguise: Their Toad disguises and their Bowser costume.
* ShoutOut: To the Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles, obviously.
* SurferDude
* TotallyRadical: They speak like this.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: It's mentioned that, growing up, they were a fairly normal and nice group of brothers until Bowser started paying attention to them and giving them things.

http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Tutankoopa_2804.png
->''"You shouldn't mess with Tutankoopa, a faithful follower of King Bowser! Ooops... I mean... You shall regret this!"''

A pharaoh Koopa that seems to have magical powers and control over several pet Chain Chomps. Hides in a hidden pyramid and tries to be intimidating, and when beaten, his Chomps turn on him.
----
* BlackMage: Attacks Mario with an inexplicable spell or two.
* [[ExitPursuedByABear Exit, Pursued by a Chain Chomp]]
* FlunkyBoss: Calls his Chain Chomps out several times when fought.
* [[HoistByHisOwnPetard Hoist By His Own Chomps]]: He ends up getting chased out of the ruins altogether by his own Chain Chomp on his defeat.
* ShoutOut: To King Tut.
* [[spoiler: {{Foreshadowing}}: In the ending credits, Tutankoopa briefly escapes the Chain Chomps by turning sideways. A precursor to [[SuperPaperMario 3D flipping?]]]]

[[WMG: The "Invincible" Tubba Blubba]]
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/TubbaBlubba_5541.jpg
->''"I smell delicious ghosts! Open the dooooooor!"''

A giant Clubba (although one with no weapon) that eats Boos for snacks. Bowser made him unbeatable [[spoiler:by removing his sentient heart]], but once Tubba Blubba is reunited with it, he becomes a complete pushover.
----
* [[spoiler:BeatStillMyHeart: You have to fight his heart that's been separated from him in order to beat him.]]
* [[spoiler:EmptyShell: The heart is the "real" Tubba Blubba. His "invincible" body is just a shell that he controls from beneath the windmill.]]
* ExtremeOmnivore: To the point where he somehow ''devours ghosts.''
* FreudianExcuse: The Boos ''loved'' to scare the crap out of him when he was a weakling. Didn't turn out well for them.
* ManChild: He's a big crybaby, which is why he begged Bowser to make him invincible in the first place.
* [[spoiler:NotSoInvincibleAfterAll]]

[[WMG: General Guy]]
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/GeneralGuy1_7189.jpg
->''"Prepare to fight me, sir! TASTE DEFEAT! CHARGE!!"''

A white-cloaked Shyguy and the leader of an army of bumbling Shyguys. While not much of a fighter himself, General Guy drives a large tank that delivers a powerful punch.
----
* FlunkyBoss: Summons his army during the fight.
* FourStarBadass
* MadBomber: His standard attack.
* ScreamsLikeALittleGirl: Not the general himself, but the instant his army sees Mario, they flee in terror, indeed screaming loudly.
* ShockAndAwe: His tank's lightbulb shoots bolts of electricity at you.
* TankGoodness: Yes, really, he drives a freaking tank. And you have to fight it.

[[WMG: Lava Piranha]]
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Lava_Piranha_7786.png
->''"WE MAKE THINGS HOT FOR YOU!"''

A mutant Piranha Plant that is magically transformed into a multi-limbed, flaming monster. Lives in a raging volcano on an island of Yoshies.
----
* ClippedWingAngel: When he revives himself [[IncendiaryExponent set on fire]], the real second phase of the battle begins... and can be easily [[CurbstompBattle curbstomped]] by using an Ice Power Multibounce, a Snowman Doll, or Tidal Wave.
* CognizantLimbs: The Lava Buds.

A giant Ruff Puff that is terrorizing Flower Fields.
----
* BlowYouAway: Like miniboss Buzzar, he can do this to you.
* DifficultySpike: Ol' Huffy has some pretty ''nasty'' attacks, and is the first boss that's able to heal himself. You have to also attack his Tuff Puffs in order to beat him.
* FlunkyBoss: Has hench-clouds fight with him.
* GadgeteerGenius: He built the Puff Puff Machine to mass-produce clouds, after all.
* ShockAndAwe: His special charged attack.

[[WMG: Crystal King]]
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Crystal_King_8366.png
->''"First I shall defeat you, and then I will present to King Bowser an iced Mario gift!"''

An invisible creature that is only seen due to the clothing he wears. Resides at a palace of ice and likes to make copies of himself when fighting.
----
* AnIcePerson
* DoppelgangerAttack
* FlunkyBoss: Summons three Ice Shards occasionally. He can spit them at you for damage or heal himself with them.

A tiny star who's only just ascended to Star Haven. When Peach wishes for Mario's safety, he comes down to help her, and becomes her "partner" for the rest of the game.
----
* HeKnowsAboutTimedHits
* SpeakingSimlish: While everyone else in the game has some form of Simlish-speak, Twink's is unusual because it sounds like jingly bells.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: None of the Koopa Troop ever seem to notice Twink until he starts up and flying right in Bowser's face. [[TheGuardsMustBeCrazy But then, given everything else...]]

[[WMG: Professor Kolorado]]

[[caption-width-right:180:"Never, ever give up! That's the most important thing I've learned from you, Mario."]]
Like in the first game, Mario's first partner is an intellectual Goomba who provides information about the world (and enemies). This time around, it's a college-aged gal named Goombella. Although she sounds like a bit of a ValleyGirl, she's sharp as a tack.
----
* AbortedDeclarationOfLove: She seems ready to do this in the closing words of her mail to Mario in the epilogue, but chooses to keep it to herself.
* ActionGirl: Even without Mario's help, she's always up for adventure!
* [[AdventurerArchaeologist Adventurer Archaeology Student]]
* BreakingTheFourthWall: She does this for some character descriptions, sometimes apologizing for doing so.
* [[spoiler: TheCameo: In VideoGame/PaperMarioStickerStar, a memo from Goombella can be found within [[JungleJapes World 5-1's]] junkyard.]]
* CuteLittleFangs: All Goombas have fangs (except for the ones living in the Mushroom Kingdom's Goomba Village; see Goombario in the first ''Paper Mario'''s section), but unlike others of her species, she only has [[FashionableAsymmetry one]], and it's smaller than usual. Thus, cute and little.
* DeadpanSnarker: To set herself apart from Goombario.
* DiminishingReturnsForBalance: Multibonk again.
* DistaffCounterpart: Ability-wise, she's a female version of Goombario.
* EnemyScan: Her Tattle ability, like Goombario. All scans are recorded in her Tattle Log.
* EpilogueLetter: Writes an email to Mario about what everyone's up to.
* ExtraTurn: One of her moves gives Mario an extra turn at the cost of 4 FP.
* GreatBigBookOfEverything: She has a book called the Tattle Log that has information on ''everything'' you can possibly encounter... except one. She finds an entry with a picture that matches, but it's a little short on info...
* {{Ladyella}}
* UseYourHead: She actually has a [[WeaponizedHeadgear helmet]], unlike Goombario.

Mario's second partner is a Koopa once again, this time wearing a hoodie. Koops, however, is a diffident and awkward fellow who's unsure on his feet. He joins Mario in order to help save his father, but stays around so that he can become stronger for his girlfriend, [[{{Tsundere}} Koopie Koo]].
----
* [[AdorablyPrecociousChild Adorably Precocious Koopa]]: Has shades of this in the beginning, with his father missing, and most of Petalburg considering him to be a crybaby of sorts. Koopie Koo even [[LampshadeHanging lampshades]] this if you speak to her in a certain portion of the game.
* {{Adorkable}}: A shy, awkward, koopa with confidence issues, whom often fumbles on his words in front of [[ClassyCatBurglar Ms. Mowz]]? He definitely qualifies.
* [[ArmorPiercingAttack Armor-Piercing Attack]]: His Shell Slam attack completely nullifies enemy defenses.
* BarrierWarrior: His [[DeflectorShields Shell Shield]] ability is an odd example of this, due to the shield itself being a completely visible koopa shell. Despite this however, in terms of offensive capabilities, he's still on par with the other party members.
* [[CannotTalkToWomen Cannot Talk To Ms. Mowz]]
* ChargedAttack: It does no extra damage, it just helps in puzzles.
* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: Goes in hand with his ParentalAbandonment. [[spoiler: He's not an orphan anymore, once Hooktail vomits his dad; thus making this an unintentional case of OrphansOrdeal.]]
* CowardlyLion: He starts out as a coward, but will gladly take on a multitude of enemies and everything else to come.
* CowardlySidekick: To Mario.
* CripplingOverspecialization: He has great single-hit damage, but is almost useless against flying enemies, since all of his attacks are ground-based.
* DanceBattler: Not exactly fighting, but his hidden stylish moves consist of [[EverythingsBetterWithSpinning breakdance spins and handstands]].
* {{Expy}}: He's similar to Kooper; sharing the same two initial attacks in battle and have almost the exact same field move but Koops has a vastly different personality.
* TheFifties: Speech patterns including [[VerbalTic Gee Whiz and Golly]]? Check. The only thing he's missing is the mentality of a fifties kid/teen.
* GrewASpine: Throughout the game, he tries to be more self-assertive.
* InTheHood: One should wonder ''how'' he's even able to [[FridgeLogic put it on]] in the first place.
* ParentalAbandonment: His mom and dad are both missing, and lives alone in Petalburg. [[spoiler: Thankfully, the DisappearedDad portion of this trope becomes [[AvertedTrope averted]] when Hooktail vomits his (still alive) father, after her defeat. His mom is never mentioned in game however, and remains missing throughout.]]
* PointlessBandAid
* ShrinkingViolet: He's first introduced as this, but [[CharacterDevelopment eventually becomes a]] SociallyAwkwardHero and {{Determinator}}.
* SpeechImpediment: Has a mild [[VerbalTic stutter]] at first, but gradually fades as the game progresses. He still frequently uses "[[VerbalTic um]]" when speaking however.
* StoneWall: Unlike the other party members he has one extra defense point by default; but has the lowest [[HitPoints HP]] out of them.
* TurtlePower
* WeaksauceWeakness: Stomp and earthquake attacks knock him on his back like any other koopa, eliminating his defense and rendering him unable to battle for a while.
** Amusingly, [[ExploitedTrope you can use this to your advantage]] when facing [[spoiler: the Shadow Sirens in the Palace of Shadow]], where [[spoiler: Doopliss]] can copy him AND inherit the weakness as well.
* [[WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer When All You Have Is A Koopa Shell]]: All of his abilities involve his shell in some form, and all but one involves plowing it into enemies.
* YourCheatingHeart: It never amounts to anything, really, but he's quite jealous of [[ChickMagnet Mario]] getting all of [[ClassyCatBurglar Ms. Mowz's]] attention whenever they [[CrowningMomentOfFunny cross paths.]]

[[caption-width-right:250:"Here we go, darling! Time to shine!"]]
Mario's third partner, a wind spirit of a kind not seen before or since in the series (though she might actually be a modified Puff). She's a former star who decided to quit early for the sake of her health. She lives peacefully in the Boggly Woods until joining Mario to help the Punis. She can blow things away with her powerful wind-breath.
----
* BlowYouAway: Her Gale Force blows enemies out of the battle when it works.
* BuxomIsBetter: Her large breasts are never flat out acknowledged, but there are a few [[ParentalBonus subtle jokes]].
* {{Expy}}: Averted, which is worth mentioning because almost all of your other party members are expies of the first game's partners. Her personality is unique and her abilities are only slightly similar to Lakilester's, although her field ability is unique.
** Played straight with her hair to another Mario character. It's Ludwig von Koopa's 'do.
* GagLips: Not a very noticeable example, though it does add to the obvious fact that she uses lots of makeup.
* {{Gainaxing}}: Her breasts have their own ''sound effect'', the game even acknowledges her bustiness during her introduction:
---> ''"She [Flurrie] can also do a Body Slam in battle, squashing enemies with her... stage presence."''
* LargeHam
* LifeDrain: Her [[KissOfDeath Lip Lock]] ability.
* SmoochOfVictory: She tries to give one to Mario. He's... not very receptive.
* SpoonyBard: Her attacks are less powerful than those of other partners, and she has few advantages apart from hitting enemies at the top of the battlefield, which is later replaced by Vivian. The only thing she becomes good for is being a StoneWall, due to her higher HP and her LifeDrain ability.
* StatusBuff: Dodgy Fog.
* StoneWall: When used properly, she can be a very good tank.
* SuperBreath
* WhiteDwarfStarlet: Apparently, she used to, erm, have less stage presence. Nevertheless, she remains popular, and even returns to the stage at the end.

Mario first meets this baby Yoshi in the [[InevitableTournament Glitz Pit,]] where he hatches from a strange egg. "Yoshi" isn't his real name, though -- his name is whatever the player decides to name him. He can carry Mario across gaps, functionally equivalent to Parakarry's ability, and Mario moves much more quickly while riding him.
----
* BadassAdorable: For someone fresh out of the egg, he can hold his own in a fight.
* BoisterousBruiser: Again, for someone just born, he's strong in a fight.
* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: He was basically taken from his parents, just to be used as a hot dog condiment.
* CuteBruiser: Friggin' adorable even by Yoshi standards, but being hatched in the Glitz Pit seems to have rubbed off on him. [[spoiler:He even becomes a solo fighter after the events of the game.]]
* DeathOfAThousandCuts: His attacks do 1 point of damage several times over.
** Except for his Gulp attack, which does the opposite by [[ArmorPiercingAttack ignoring armor]].
* EasterEgg: The official art always shows a green Yoshi baby, but he comes in [[http://www.mariowiki.com/images/7/76/Yoshi_kids.PNG seven different colors]] in-game! However, getting a specific color requires getting from the point where you save him from the hotdog vendor to when you run away from the Iron Clefts in a certain amount of time (or waiting a long time for the timer to reset).
** RealMenWearPink: One possible, and common result.
* EggMcGuffin: How Mario first meets him.
* {{Expy}}: In terms of field abilities, he's an expy of Parakarry, being able to carry Mario across gaps. Outside of that, he completely averts this.
* HelloInsertNameHere: Yoshi is the only character in the Paper Mario series that can be named by the player. Justified in that he had no name prior to meeting Mario.
* HugeRiderTinyMount: He's barely half the size of Mario, but he lets the guy ride him anyway... and then there's when Flavio follows you and [[PintsizedPowerhouse you both jump on Yoshi.]]
* NonMammalianHair: Unlike other Yoshis in the series, he has a comb of hair on his head. Although if you're a dinosaur expert, you might assume they're feathers.
* PassingTheTorch - In the epilogue, he calls himself "The Great Gonzales Jr.". [[spoiler: ...as his ring name.]]
* PintsizedPowerhouse
* PowerupMount
* ShrinkRay: A possible effect of his eggs.
* SummonMagic: A stampeding herd.
* SwordOfPlotAdvancement: The last minor league Glitz Pit fight is a HopelessBossFight before you get him.

* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Why she joins Mario in the end.
* CuteWitch
* DarkActionGirl: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]]. She ends up joining Mario's team, and isn't cut out to being evil-- plus, she can't stand being picked on by Beldam.
* TheDarkChick: When on the side of the villains.
* {{Expy}}: She's an expy of Bow in terms of her shadow-evasion field ability.
* HeelFaceTurn
* TheHecateSisters: She was the Maiden in the Shadow Sirens.
* LivingShadow
* MistreatmentInducedBetrayal: The last straw is finding out that the grenade Beldam tasked her with finding is broken.
* PlayingWithFire: Some of her attacks can ignite your enemies.
* RedemptionPromotion: She can end up much stronger when she was when she first fought you. The only element of RedemptionDemotion is her not having Fiery Jinx until you upgrade her (when she relearns it, it's much stronger).
* [[HesAFriend She's A Friend]]: Mario has to explain this to the party even after they realize that [[spoiler:Doopliss]] has tricked them. Her being with Mario is seen as evidence against him being the real one.
* ShesAManInJapan: Vivian's gender is a trans female in the [[WholesomeCrossDresser Japanese]] and PAL versions. This aspect isn't touched on in the North American release.
* ShipperOnDeck: Ships Mario/Peach in the ending.
* ShipTease: [[spoiler:Doopliss]] taunts Mario, suggesting that he's having a "fight with (his) girlfriend," when she becomes hesitant to fight alongside him after learning his identity.

This thief has a tendency to keep popping up wherever Mario is. She hunts down rare badges and other treasures. But is it possible to win her over to your side...? (Yes, it is.) Her nose can literally sniff out treasure, and in battle, she can steal items, which becomes an excellent source of income.
----
* ActionGirl: As a thief/treasure hunter, she's quite proactive even before joining Mario, and being able to steal items and pierce through enemy defenses with her attacks doesn't hurt either.
* ArmorPiercingSlap: Quite literally. One of her attacks is a slap that bypasses defense.
* [[ClassyCatBurglar Classy Mouse Burglar]]
* [[DatingCatwoman Dating Mousewoman]]: In the first few dungeons, she shows up as a rival treasure hunter who is indeed competing with Mario for certain treasures. Nonetheless, she openly flirts with him.
* {{Expy}}: In terms of combat and field abilities, she's somewhat like a {{Nerf}}ed Watt. She has attacks that are somewhat similar to Watt's from the first game: Out of battle, she reveals secrets, and in it, she can bypass defense. However, since Watt's defense-piercing abilities were a total GameBreaker, her damage is cut, making her the physically weakest party member with a maximum of 4 damage done by her base attack.
** She's also similar to the Star Spirit, Misstar, since both characters can use [[SmoochofVictory Smooch]] to restore Mario's HP.
* IntimateHealing: Her final skill is a kiss that restores HP to Mario.
* IntrepidMerchant: She dons a mask to go out and discover or steal rare badges... and then sells them at her store.
* TheNoseKnows: She can sniff out treasure.
* ObliviousToLove: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] in the fact that she's only oblivious to Koops's advances on her. Besides that, she's completely aware of romance, as seen with her flirtatious nature towards Mario.
* OptionalPartyMember
* PaperThinDisguise[[note]][[AccidentalPun Literally.]][[/note]]: The mouse running the badge shop may be lacking the most obvious parts of the costume, but her color and tail are a giveaway.
* RecurringTraveler: In the first few dungeons, anyway. She stops appearing when she becomes an OptionalPartyMember.
* SheFu: Incorporated in her move, Tease.
* TertiarySexualCharacteristics: Her heels and heart-shaped tail.
* VideoGameStealing: She can steal items (and badges!) off enemies. She apparently does this by, um, [[ShowSomeLeg "distracting" them]] while she rifles through their pockets.
* WingdingEyes: Her teasing can cause them.

* HumongousMecha: Magnus Von Grapple.
* NumberTwoForBrains: Sort of. He is a bigger {{Cloudcuckoolander}} than the mooks, which is saying something. Grodus, concerned about how he'll handle the Boggly Woods operation, sends in the Shadow Sirens to assist him.
* PaperThinDisguise: In the 5th chapter, on the island, his disguise as an ordinary sailor is... not great. [[spoiler:He even [[BreakingTheFourthWall addresses the audience directly]] and tells them that, sure, ''they '' know who he is, but they can't tell Mario about it.]]
* RecurringBoss: Twice on foot (Prologue and Chapter 5), and twice in Magnus Von Grapple (Chapters 2 and 7).

* TheBrute: Has the most health and strongest attack power of the Shadow Sirens.
* ChargedAttack
** ForMassiveDamage: On some occasions in her chapter 8 rematch, she might charge her attack power two turns in a row. This is alarmingly GenreSavvy, considering the first reaction many players make to an enemy charging up is to use Veil to avoid it... and since Vivian will be stuck in a cooldown phase afterward, your only options are to neutralize Marilyn or eat the massive damage. If she follows up with a melee attack, she will have [[ThisIsGonnaSuck 21 attack power]].

* [[spoiler:EasilyForgiven]]: [[spoiler:While all the villains are this after the game ends, the others are somewhat justified in that they were all driven by the Shadow Queen. Doopliss was just a big jerk.]]
* ForTheEvulz: He doesn't stand to gain or lose anything from his activities and has no motivation beyond "being a dick is fun".
* IKnowYourTrueName: The key to victory.
* InterfaceScrew: To ensure that you don't guess his name [[FailureIsTheOnlyOption before the storyline wants you to]], a letter or katakana (depending on the version; for example, it's a lowercase p in the English translation) is removed from the text-entering screen and replaced with another space button. And no, you can't use a capital version of a letter or hiragana equivalent of what has to be entered -- it has to be entered exactly as shown on screen when his name is found out. It turns out that [[TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou he's actually removed it himself]], and you have to find it in a treasure chest.
* {{Jerkass}}: Unlike the other main villains, he doesn't really have a goal or any real reason for doing what he does. He essentially just really likes being a dick.
* KingMook: Sorta. The Duplighosts were late-game {{Mooks}} found in the first ''Paper Mario'', but in the sequel, he's the only one.
* NighInvulnerable: If you don't state his true name, you enter a battle where he cannot take any damage. It's not [[HopelessBossFight hopeless]], as he can't deal any damage either. The only option is to run.
* NightmareRetardant: His abilities remain terrifying throughout the chapter, but that doesn't change the fact that the one responsible for the town's curse is a BedsheetGhost in a party hat and bowtie who is sitting in an easy chair watching TV when you first meet him. [[{{In-universe}} Your partner tends to agree]].
* NotInFrontOfTheParrot: Played with. His pet parrot knows him by name, but he keeps it out of sight for that reason and it's smart enough to not randomly recite it. However, it's also smart enough to feel demeaned and start muttering about its situation once you're out of sight.

He's loud, brash, obnoxious, and thinks he's the best fighter around. He uses some dirty tricks during fights, but insists that he'll fight clean once Mario finds the Crystal Star.
----
* BigBadassBirdOfPrey
* CombatPragmatist: Launches himself from the walls of the arena, and even grabs onto the ceiling beam at one point (putting him beyond the reach of most attacks) and shakes it to drop objects down on Mario. At one point he sends Mario a poisoned cake. If you eat it, your partner will be paralyzed in the next fight.
* ContinuityNod: Apparently, "Rawk" was a word in [[PaperMarioStickerStar Ancient Stickerish]].
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Well, not so much friendship, but Rawk Hawk garners a begrudging respect for Mario after losing to him.
* LargeHam
* ShoutOut: Obviously a parody of professional wrestlers, but likely a parody of HulkHogan and [[DwayneJohnson The Rock]] in particular.
** In fact, for the Spanish dub, Rawk Hawk is actually called ''Hawk Hogan''.
* SmallNameBigEgo: In spite of all of his bragging, his boss fight is quite easy. [[VillainForgotToLevelGrind (And he doesn't get any tougher for rematches.)]] In addition, when he later challenges Bowser to a fight, Bowser [[CurbStompBattle curb stomps him]]. (Literally!)

[[WMG: Tippi, AKA [[spoiler:Lady Timpani]]]]

http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tippi_7303.jpg
A butterfly Pixl that serves as Mario's ExpositionFairy. It's revealed through the backstory that she's [[spoiler:Timpani, the love of Blumiere. After Blumiere's father banished her, he was driven mad by his grief and became the WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds that is Count Bleck.]]
----
* DefrostingIceQueen: Initially relatively distant from the heroes, she comes to trust and love them more after she is saved from Francis.
* [[spoiler: EmergencyTransformation: Courtesy of Merlon, who had to transform her into a Pixl to keep her alive. This caused her to lose her memories, but she slowly regains them over the course of the game.]]
* ExpositionFairy: Almost literally, seeing how she is a Pixl.
* InSeriesNickname: Francis nicknames her Francine after he kidnaps her.
* [[spoiler: InterspeciesRomance: With Bleck. He was from the Tribe of Darkness, she was a human.]]
* ThePowerOfLove: [[spoiler:Invoked to create a Pure Heart in the final battle.]]
* StarCrossedLovers: [[spoiler:With Bleck.]]

[[WMG: Fracktail]]
-->''[[VideoGame/ZeldaIITheAdventureOfLink ... I AM ERROR. ...]]''

http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Fracktail_3469.jpg
A robotic dragon, created by the Ancients, who guards the Pure Heart in Yold Desert from lawless intruders. He wanted to let Mario pass through and grab the Heart, knowing he was the hero, but Dimentio corrupts him into fighting Mario. He's the boss of Chapter 1.
----
* AIIsACrapshoot: Although it's Dimentio's fault.
* AttackItsWeakPoint: You have to throw the Frackles on his back at his horn to defeat him.
* ColossusClimb: You have to get on his back by flipping into 3D, but that's all.
* {{Expy}}: Of Hooktail from the second game.
* FlunkyBoss: There are enemies called Frackles on his back. You have to throw them at the horn of Fracktail's head to defeat him.
* GentleGiant: He's not afraid to destroy lawless intruders, but he's pretty friendly to Mario before Dimentio shows up.
* NoIndoorVoice: His voice is rendered in all caps.
* ShoutOut: To the {{Wii}} Shop Channel (his eyes become the connection symbol when he's checking if Mario is the hero), and also to ''[[VideoGame/ZeldaIITheAdventureOfLink Zelda]]'', when he says [[{{Engrish}} "I AM ERROR"]].
* ThisWasHisTrueForm: Sort of. He reverts to normal just before dying, imploring Mario to stop the end of all worlds.
* WordSaladHumor: His lines after being corrupted:

[[WMG: Francis]]

http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/francisspm_3062.png
A giant, nerdy chameleon. He kidnaps Tippi and takes her to his home, Fort Francis, so he can post pictures of her on digibutter.nerr. He's the boss of Chapter 3.
----
* CatchPhrase: "Hi-technicaaaal!"
* {{Invisibility}}: He can turn invisible during the battle with him. His shadow can be seen by flipping into 3D.
* LoneWolfBoss: He's not affiliated with Count Bleck in any way.
* OpaqueNerdGlasses: Of the swirly variety.
* OverlyLongTongue
* VillainForgotToLevelGrind: An optional second battle with him can be fought in chapter 8-2, but he has the same stats as he did during the first fight, so he isn't threatening at all.

[[WMG: Wracktail]]
-->Why did you wake me from the sweet peace of slumber?! I will punish you...with death!

A prototype for a new version of Fracktail, the Chapter 1 boss. He's the boss of the [[BonusDungeon Flipside Pit of 100 Trials]].
----
* AGodAmI: He calls himself a wrathful god.
* AttackItsWeakPoint: Just as with Fracktail, you throw the enemies on his back to hurt him.
* BonusBoss: Of the Flipside Pit of 100 Trials.
* AIIsACrapshoot: Sort of. He's mostly just angry about being woken up, though.
* {{Expy}}: Of Bonetail from the second game. They're both more powerful, white versions of the red, draconic Chapter 1 bosses at the bottom of the Pit of 100 Trials.
* FlunkyBoss: Getting on top of him is easy. The hard part is fighting off the little Wrackles on is back that shoot massively powerful bullets at you.
* NoIndoorVoice: Like his weaker counterpart.

[[WMG: Shadoo]]
-->[[spoiler: Oh, heroes... Blessed souls... I must destroy you all with the power of shadow!]]

A mysterious creation of the Ancients who waits for the heroes at the bottom of the [[spoiler: Flopside]] Pit of 100 Trials. [[spoiler: He actually wants to KillAndReplace the heroes to get revenge on his Ancient creators. Why? Well, it's implied that he's the Pixl Queen from Carson's stories in some form or another. Either way, he creates clones of the heroes and battles them as a BonusBoss.]]
----
* [[spoiler: AIIsACrapshoot: He was created by the Ancients, but he makes it clear he's not taking orders from anyone. Plus, he tries to destroy the heroes when he was intended to help them.]]
* [[spoiler: BonusBoss: He has 400 HP total and all of his attacks do at LEAST 10 damage. So... yeah.]]
* CastingAShadow
* [[spoiler: EvilKnockoff: Of the heroes, of course. Dark Luigi looks more like Mr. L, though.]]
* [[spoiler: FauxAffablyEvil: Seems to be this, especially if you subscribe to the theory that he is the Pixl Queen, which would mean he singlehandedly killed off the Ancients.]]
* [[spoiler: KillAndReplace: Seems to be his agenda.]]
* MeaningfulName: You battle him as [[spoiler: shadowy versions of the heroes]], so yes.
* [[spoiler: MirrorBoss: You fight all four dark heroes, regardless of whether or not you have [[SixthRanger Luigi]] yet.]]
* NoNameGiven: When he speaks to you after beating the Pit the first time.
* [[spoiler: PlayingWithFire: As Dark Bowser]].
* ShadowArchetype: [[JustForPun Quite literally]].
* WalkingSpoiler: Well, he ''is'' a [[spoiler: BonusBoss]].

[[WMG: Kersti]]

[[quoteright:225:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Kersti_77.jpg]]
A Sticker fairy who is the caretaker of the Royal Stickers.

* [[spoiler:DisneyDeath]]: [[spoiler:Mario's wish is to revive Kersti after using her as a sticker.]]
* [[spoiler:EleventhHourSuperPower]]
* ExpositionFairy
* [[spoiler:HeroicSacrifice]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She's mostly nice, but boy does she have a short fuse.
* PunnyName: Kersti is an anagram of "sticker", just with the "c" removed.
* SwallowedWhole: [[spoiler:Kersti gets swallowed by Petey Piranha in the last level of World 5. This means that you can't use paperization and the Battle Spin feature until you get Kersti back.]]
* {{Tsundere}}: Type B.

[[WMG: Wiggler/[[spoiler:Flutter]]]]
This particular Wiggler seems to be very childlike and cannot wait to grow up. He lives in the forest in his very own treehouse. [[spoiler:He later grows up into a Flutter so he gives Mario a ride past Gate Cliff.]]

* JournalComic: If you take the Wiggler segments to particular areas in the forest, then Wiggler's diary (in third-person) would include drawings of those events.
* TheLoad: The Wiggler Segments are pretty annoying to deal with before they're dealt with.
* MiniBoss: [[spoiler: You fight each of Wiggler's segments after Kamek separated Wiggler from his main body.]]
* OutOfCharacterMoment: It is rare that you get to see Wiggler being angry.
** Which is strange since Wigglers are known for being cute, but temperamental.
* ThirdPersonPerson
* TreehouseOfFun: He lives in a treehouse.

[[WMG: Megasparkle Goomba]]

[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Megasparkle_Goomba_8215.png]]
Well, more like 16 Goombas, with one of them being the boss and having his mind warped by the Royal Sticker.

* CharacterTics: He keeps mentioning the words "shiny" and "glittering." Really though, [[spoiler:that's pretty much how every boss acts like under the control of a Royal Sticker.]]
* CoolCrown
* KingMook
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: [[spoiler:Megasparkle Goomba's cohorts decide that they'd rather be regular Goombas rather than keep working for him.]]
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity

[[WMG: Tower Power Pokey]]

[[quoteright:94:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/TowerPowerPokey_3313.png]]
A Pokey on top of Drybake Stadium that has been under the control of the Royal Sticker. [[spoiler: He was once just a regular Pokey before Kamek placed the Royal Sticker on top of him and split the stadium into three parts.]]

* [[spoiler:BatterUp]]: [[spoiler:His major weakness once all of his segments have been exposed]].
* FlunkyBoss: He may summon two Pokeys (the ones that you can actually jump on) to help him. Of course, you will have to defeat them first before getting Tower Power Pokey.
* ForeShadowing: His weakness is basically why [[spoiler:Drybake Stadium is called that in the first place.]]
** Not to mention the glaring hint of [[spoiler:PLAY BALL!]] at the beginning of the battle.
* KingMook
* WakeUpCallBoss: He has 300 HP (compared to the first boss, which has less than 100 HP) 10 Defense, and can deal 5 to 10 damage per turn. Also, if you didn't realize that a certain Thing needs to be used to defeat him, you'll be in serious trouble.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity

[[WMG: Bowser Snow Statue/ [[spoiler:Mizzter Blizzard]]]]
A magical snow statue of Bowser that has suddenly came alive. [[spoiler: It's really a Mr. Blizzard called Mizzter Blizzard.]]

* [[spoiler: AffablyEvil]]
** [[spoiler: GoodAllAlong: Can we honestly say he was evil?]]
* [[spoiler: BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: His backstory is that he was a regular Mr. Blizzard who was melting and wanted to live. He wished for a body that could survive spring... and the Royal Sticker landed on his head.]]
* [[spoiler: ButtMonkey: He was melting. He prayed for a longer life, and was given it at the cost of his sanity. He was then given a thorough beating by Mario due to the insanity. Then he melted right after regaining his sanity.]]
* [[spoiler: DyingAsYourself]] Technically, he doesn't die, he melts and lives on as water vapor, unti Winter comes.
* AnIcePerson
* MatryoshkaObject
* [[spoiler: {{Narrator}}/PosthumousNarration: The section of the storybook that appears after beating Mizzter Blizzard is told in the first person, and it's obviously Mizzter Blizzard speaking. It's unknown if he narrated the rest of the book, though.]]
* {{Snowlem}}: Type 3. [[spoiler: Really Type 1.]]
* [[spoiler: TragicMonster]]
* WalkingSpoiler: For the sole reason that [[spoiler: he actually has a personality and isn't evil.]]
* WeWillMeetAgain: [[InvertedTrope Inverted]]. After regaining his sanity and retaining his consciousness as air moisture, he says he'd like to see Mario again, when he's rebuilt as a Snowman come Winter.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: Like all other bosses. [[spoiler: Then you beat him and, for the first time, there's a case of a boss showing the extent of the Royal Stickers' power over one's mind. It's rather sad.]]

[[folder:Other Characters]]

[[WMG:Sling-a-Thing Toad]]
The owner of the "Sling-a-Thing" operation.

* BlackMarket: Knows the existence of one.
* CharacterTics: Mentions the word "perky" a lot.
* EverybodyKnewAlready: If you already found the secret Thing market Toad already, then he'll still tell you as if you don't know what to do if you don't have any Things.

[[WMG:Travelling Toad]]
A recurring Toad who seems to travel the world and gets beaten up by goons in every region he's traveled to.

* BegoneBribe: One way to get rid of the goons. Of course, you can choose to fight them.
* BossInMooksClothing: The Shy Guys bullying the Toad. They are a lot tougher than they appear to be. And the reward for helping him that time is a Secret Door sticker.
** While that fight is the toughest, most of the fights involving him are special. One introduces the Two-Fold Goombas, one is the only fight with a Multi Fold Paragoomba, and a fight with Spear Guys that SEEMS normal, but there's really a huge crowd of them watching. The Poison Bloopers seem to be the exception.
* UnreliableExpositor: The postcards he sent to a friend of his are correct except for the parts where he claimed that he beat up a bunch of goons. The truth is that the goons were picking on him and that it was Mario who saved him so the stories end up being a bit exaggerated. [[spoiler:He later admits that he was lying to a friend of his.]]
** HerCodeNameWasMarySue

[[WMG:Sticker Museum Curator]]
A Toad who is in charge of a museum dedicated for information regarding all kinds of stickers.

* CollectionSidequest
* HundredPercentCompletion: Helping him complete his museum is required to achieve 100% completion.
* OverlyNarrowSuperlative: He advertises it as the greatest Sticker Museum of the Mushroom Kingdom as it is the only one who has one.
* VideoGameCrueltyPotential: [[spoiler:You can leave him stuck under the fountain for the entire game as you may not get the hint to use paperization to free him.]]
* TheWikiRule: [[{{In-universe}} His museum uses the "Sticky Wiki"]] with the entries written by an intern of his.

[[WMG:Shady Toad]]
A Toad who hosts a secret black market for all Things.

* BlackMarket: Pretty much a spoof of this.

[[WMG:Oasis Toad]]
A Toad who lives at Damp Oasis.

* CaptainObvious: Tells Mario that you need water to travel in the desert.
* TotallyRadical: Speaks like one once the oasis has been filled.

[[WMG:"Snifit or Whiffit" Host]]
The host of the game show "Snifit or Whiffit."

* ADogNamedDog: The host's name is "Snifit" and he's a Snifit.
* FriendlyEnemy: He's clearly against Mario as his questions reveal that he thinks that Bowser is straight-up cooler than Mario. The only thing that's considered harmful that he did to Mario is to fill the room with poison gas.
* LadiesAndGerms: "Gentlebuddies" and "Goodbuddies' are variants of his introduction.
* NiceGuy: He acts like one but some dialogue of his such as "unpaid Snifit interns" suggest he can be a JerkAss too.
* StudioAudience: According to one of the answers to his questions, there are 30 Snifits in the audience.
* WhackAMonster: One of his challenges is to whack 20 “unpaid Snifit interns.”

[[WMG:Enigmansion Boos]]
100 Boos sealed in the Book of Sealing who, thanks to [[spoiler:Kamek]], are free to roam and haunt the Enigmansion. They're actually not that scary and more fun but that doesn't stop the owner from requesting Mario to help seal the Boos back. [[spoiler:Thanks to Kamek again, the sealed Boos now form a Big Boo, which gets defeated by Mario.]]

* BackgroundMusicOverride: The Disco Boos do this to the battle theme.
* BossInMooksClothing: [[spoiler: The Boo Stack should not be underestimated if you want the battle to end quickly. Luckily, the obvious hints in the bookshelves should tell you to use a certain sticker.]]
* EldritchAbomination: The monsters that the Book of Sealing seal...[[SubvertedTrope is not this]]. The way the steward describes the Boos made them sound pretty horrible, even though that they're more fun rather than spooky.
* GratuitousDiscoSequence
* OneHitPointWonder: [[spoiler:One of the Boos crumpled in the trash is basically this.]]

[[WMG:Enigmansion Steward]]
A Purple Toad who is the steward of the Enigmansion. [[spoiler:He was the servant of the previous steward of the Enigmansion until he died, making him the new owner through inheritance. Once the owner suddenly comes back from the dead via photograph, he becomes his servant.]]

* GhostlyChill: A Boo is pretty much the main reason why he's feeling cold in front of a campfire.
* {{Irony}}: One of the papers you can find in World 5-1 in the huge trash pile is an ad for a new manservant. After the Enigmansion has been cleared of Boos, the steward thinks of hiring a new servant. [[spoiler:He becomes one again to his old master.]]
* NiceGuy: He's pretty hospitable and says that not sitting down with him to relax is against his hospitality.
* PortraitPaintingPeephole: [[spoiler: A portrait of him has one sort of peephole where if Mario looks away from it, a Boo will pop out to replace his face.]]

[[WMG:Enigmansion Forebear]]
A Toad who was the ski lift operator for 30 years until he and his servant moved to the Enigmansion. [[spoiler:He died, with his servant becoming the new owner. He is revived with an old photograph of his via paperization and becomes the owner of the Enigmansion again, with the steward being his servant again.]]

* BackFromTheDead
* MilitarySalute: Does one to Mario after he and Kersti hop on to one of the ski lifts.
* NiceGuy
* NostalgiaFilter: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]]. A music player that plays a tune that sounds very old-fashioned is liked by his servant but the owner, who is older than him, doesn't like it that much and wonders why the current generation likes it.
