!!Seven Deadly Sins

The Seven Deadly Sins were the strongest and cruelest order of knights in all of Britannia, formed by seven brutal criminals, who had all been convicted for grievous crimes and had carved the symbols of seven beasts onto their bodies. After having been framed for murdering the Great Holy Knight, they were disbanded. The Sins were later branded as traitors and villains.

[[folder: Tropes pertaining to the Seven Deadly Sins in general ]]

* TheAgeless: A number of the Sins appear not to age one single bit regardless of how much time has passed.
** Meliodas appears to not have aged at all throughout at least 200 years. It is suggested this is because [[spoiler:he was born half demon.]]
** King, thanks to being a fairy, has not aged one bit in appearance in over 700 years. Although he can transform himself into an older form if he so chooses.
** Ban, thanks to drinking from the fountain of eternal life, remains the same age he was at the time he drank it. He can still grow a shaggy beard and longer hair over time though.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: The Sins are made up of fairies, demons, giants, immortals and the like. Despite this, they all look like regular humans (or a very large human, in Diane's case).
* AmplifierArtifact: Each of the Sins is supposed to have a sacred treasure, a holy weapon that allows them to draw on even more of their innate power. Hilariously, while King kept his, so far Diane lost hers, Ban had his [[{{Irony}} stolen]], and Meliodas ''sold'' his.
* AnimalMotifs: In relation to their overall theme, each of the Sins has a tattoo and a moniker of an animal that is either usually associated or [[AnimalStereotypes stereotyped]] with their respective sin.
** Meliodas: Dragon's Sin of Wrath which is based on dragons being very wrathful and destructive.
** Diane: Serpent's Sin of Envy which is based on snakes being seen as symbols of envy.
** Ban: Fox's Sin of Greed which is based on the idea that foxes are seen as very sneaky and greedy.
** King: Bear's Sin of Sloth which is based on bears being rather slothful such as during long periods of hibernation.
** Gowther: Goat's Sin of Lust which is based on goats being seen as a symbol of lust, such as the case with satyrs and other such similar creatures.
** Merlin: Boar's Sin of Gluttony which is based on {{Gluttonous Pig}}s.
** Escanor: Lion's Sin of Pride which is based on lions being seen as symbols of pride.
* AntiHero: The Sins were actually criminals that joined the order for their own reasons, and each of the Sins so far encountered are good people at heart but were framed by a unknown person.
* BadassCrew: Every member of the Sins is a badass as per their job description.
* BadPowersGoodPeople: The majority of the Sins revealed so far have abilities that would otherwise belong to villainous characters. A number of them are PersonsOfMassDestruction and some have abilities that are practically overpowered.
* BewareTheNiceOnes / BewareTheSillyOnes: The Sins are generally nice guys and at times very silly. Some are jerks but they are usually good people at heart. But if you enrage them that is when you'll realize how dangerous they are.
* BrokenPedestal: To a number of people who originally looked up to their order such as a Gilthunder, they are this for their supposed crime of killing Great Holy Zaratras and attempt to overthrow the kingdom of Liones.
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: Meliodas (blonde), Diane (Brunette) and Gowther (redhead).
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Despite being known as the strongest and cruelest order of knights, the Deadly Sins tend to be silly and don't take most fight serious.
* ColorCodedCharacters: Each of the Sins revealed so far have a distinct colors via their attire that differentiates them.
** Meliodas: Black and White
** Diane: Yellow Orange
** Ban: Red
** King: Blue Green and Orange
** Gowther: White and Purple
* DarkAndTroubledPast: A number of the Sins revealed so far have back stories which paint them as more than simply Sin-themed criminals.
* DoomedHometown: Both Meliodas and King.
* ElementalPowers: Most of the Deadly Sins shows some form of elemental abilities.
** Meliodas: Fire
** Diane: Earth
** King: Plant
** Gowther: Light
* ExperiencedProtagonist: At the start of the series, the Sins are already established {{Living Legend}}s within the setting.
* FacialCompositeFailure: It's a RunningGag that the Sins' wanted posters either don't resemble them or provide enough information to what they really are.
* FighterMageThief: Respectively Meliodas, King and Ban trio.
* FrameUp: Prior to the story, the Seven Deadly Sins were framed for killing the Great Holy Knight and Gilthunder's father, Zaratras, and trying to overthrow the kingdom. It's not yet known who framed them but it's either a Holy Knight or a traitor amongst the Sins.
* TheForceIsStrongWithThisOne: All the Deadly Sins have the ability to sense the power levels of strong characters.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: Due to being criminals, they get this a lot from the Holy Knights.
* LetsSplitUpGang: The Sins split up when they came across the corpse of the Great Holy Knight, Zaratras, and were surrounded by the knights of the kingdom. A main plot point of the story is PuttingTheBandBackTogether after a ten year separation.
* LivingLegend: They are renowned for their strength and for being criminals who have committed the most heinous of crimes.
* MagicKnight: The majority of the Sins known so far are incredible strong fighters who can also use magical abilities. The major exception however is King who is a SquishyWizard who is weaker than an old man with a bad back.
* [[TheMagnificentSevenSamurai The Magnificent Seven Sins]]: Being a team of seven sin themed knights tasked with saving the kingdom.
* MultinationalTeam: As noted by Gowther, the main protagonists consists of individuals of different races and dispositions such as there being an immortal, a giant, a fairy, and a pig to name a few. This is moreso the case for the Sins themselves.
* NighInvulnerability: While the majority of the Sins revealed so far are capable of taking extreme amounts of damage, only a few of them are completely invulnerable to physical damage.
** Ban thanks to his immortality, is completely invulnerable to attacks that would be otherwise completely fatal. Only specialized attacks hurt him.
** Gowther, while apparently not to the degree of Ban, is for some reason invulnerable to bone cracking attacks.
* OneManArmy: Each of the Deadly Sins are able to take down a group of Holy Knights with ease and become even more powerful with their Sacred Treasure.
* TheOrder: The Seven Deadly Sins are an order made up of conscripted criminals formed by the King of Liones. They are separate from the Holy Knights and answer directly to the king.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: The group consists of a number of characters with extremely eccentric personalities.
* RapidFireFisticuffs: Meliodas and Ban can dish out a rapid amount of punches.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: A number of the Sins revealed so far have been revealed to several centuries old despite their looks.
** Meliodas appears to be at least 200 years old despite looking like a child.
** King due to being a fairy, is at least more than 700 years old despite like Meliodas, looking like a child.
** Diane due to being a giant, is at least 700 years old or so. She has aged though albeit slower than humans and it appears she just passed through puberty by giant's standards.
* RecruitingTheCriminal: Years after having been branded as criminals after their frameup, they are being reunited in order to battle the Holy Knights and save the kingdom.
* RuleNumberOne: There are a set of rules that go with being a Sin. Rule number three is "A Sin shall ask no questions of another member's sin," according to Ban.
* SevenDeadlySins: Each of the Sins has a mark representing a sin, and has powers related to that sin. Their personalities and back stories, though, play with the sin they represent.
** Wrath: Instead of a stereotypical warmongering BloodKnight, Meliodas is a trickster-like character who is often seen fondling Elizabeth one way or another. By all accounts, he seems more like [[LovableSexManiac the sin of lust]]. In reality however, he is [[BewareTheNiceOnes the type]] [[YouWouldntLikeMeWhenImAngry you don't want to see wrathful.]] His past which has yet to be fully revealed, involved his wrath going completely out of hand on epic proportions. Because of what happened, he is generally a pacifist by nature unless push comes to shove.
** Envy: Diane is generally envious of regular sized girls as she can't interact normally with Meliodas. In reality though, what she really envies deep down are people who are in love.
** Greed: Ban is a thief that would steal anything that isn't nailed down. His backstory, however, is a subversion of greed as he decided not to steal the elixir of immortality upon learning the truth behind it and even unselfishly tried to save Elaine and it from a demon. He unfortunately was blamed for the destruction for the forest on accusation of greed.
** Sloth: King carries around a pillow and generally floats around. His so called human form also looks like a slothful fat guy. In addition, he is so pathetically weak by himself that his strength heavily relies on his Sacred Treasure and [[SquishyWizard magic]]. His backstory involves his dereliction of his responsibilities to keep the peace between the humans and fairies. However, it is a subversion as in reality he didn't willingly neglect them, he just suffered from amnesia for a long time and only RememberedTooLate. Nonetheless he was accused of sloth via [[AccompliceByInaction doing nothing]]. Him being constantly [[YouAreTooLate too late]] to do the right thing is a bane of his as he was too late to save his sister who took up his duties to guard the elixir of life, and he was too late to [[spoiler: protect Diane.]]
** Lust: Gowther is an extremely effeminate looking man but he has a very emotionless personality that lacks, among other things, traits normally stereotyped with lust. His powers are more light and mental based rather than physical but the way they are used invoke themes of lust. Two noteworthy techniques of his are a LotusEaterMachine power to trap opponents with illusions to show [[YourHeartsDesire their heart's desire]], and a power that basically {{Mind Rape}}s a person.
* TheTeam:
** TheLeader / TheCaptain: Meliodas being the literal captain of the Sins is this.
** TheLancer: Ban so far acts as Meliodas' second-in-command and is generally Meliodas' {{foil}}.
** TheSmartGuy: King and Gowther share this distinction. Though King's more of the SquishyWizard definition, and Gowther's more of TheSpock both in analysis and behavior.
** TheBigGirl: Diane who is both the biggest of the Sins and the most physical based of them of all.
** ???: Escanor
** ???: Merlin
* TradingBarsForStripes: To atone for their original crimes, the Sins were offered the choice to become knights that answer directly to the king of Liones.
* TwoGirlsToATeam: Diane and Merlin are the only female Sins.

Meliodas is the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins and is known as the Dragon's Sin of Wrath. Meliodas is helping Elizabeth to find the other Deadly Sins to stop the Holy Knights.

* TheAce: He is acknowledged as the strongest among the Seven Deadly Sins and even considered to be stronger than other characters outside the order.
** BrokenAce: Despite his strength, he has deep issues regarding him using it as he is afraid of hurting others like he did in the past. This fear is so much that it had hindered him at one point from properly defeating a opponent.
* AfraidOfTheirOwnStrength: Due to his past, Meliodas has a deep fear for his own strength which is why he prefers using blunt and broken weapons.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: As the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins, he is stated to be the strongest of them all.
* AmplifierArtifact: Each of the Sins is supposed to have a Sacred Treasure, a holy weapon that allows them to draw on even more of their innate power. Unfortunately, Meliodas sold his weapon to buy his bar.
* AnimalBattleAura: When Oslo was encountered for the first time, Meliodas' strength was manifested before the dog's eyes in the shape of a dragon similar in appearance to Meliodas' broken sword handle.
* AntiMagic: Counter Vanish disperses magic attacks.
* AttackReflector: Meliodas' power, Full Counter, reflects any attack directed at him with greater power back to the attacker.
* {{Badass}}: Meliodas is possibly one of the most badass characters in the series.
** HiddenBadass: Due to his appearance, Meliodas is mistaken for a kid and nobody knows how strong he really is.
* TheBartender: He is the owner of the Boar Hat bar.
* BattleAura: Meliodas has this when he is enraged.
* BerserkButton:
** Don't you ever try to steal his sword. Ban tried to take it... once. He still has the scar, which is saying something since no other weapon has left a lasting mark on him.
** When someone tries to take Elizabeth away from him, he becomes even more enraged than when having his sword stolen. This is possibly for her resemble of his former lover, Liz who died many years ago, and it's possible [[ReplacementGoldfish he's using Elizabeth as a way to not loose her again]].
* BewareTheNiceOnes / YouWouldntLikeMeWhenImAngry: Meliodas is a NiceGuy who cares about his friends but when he's in his rage mode, you better pray for God's help.
* BigDamnHeroes: Meliodas had this moment when Ruin was hurting Elizabeth and Meliodas came in at the right time to save her. It happens again in [[spoiler: chapter 28]] when Elizabeth was taken and Meliodas came in and freed her.
* BoundAndGagged: Hawk ties him up every night he sleeps with Elizabeth so that Meliodas doesn't do anything funny. He however takes it as a CasualKink by calling it role playing.
* ChivalrousPervert: He usually won't pass up a chance at being a pervert but he is still chivalrous when protecting Elizabeth and others.
* ClusterFBomb: [[ here]] [[spoiler: when Elizabeth was taken by a mysterious Holy Knight.]]
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: When King transformed into his older fatter self, Meliodas only noticed the difference was King's change of clothes. During the Byzel fighting festival, Meliodas only interpreted Hauser's battle banter with Diane as DoubleEntendre.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Like the other Sins, Meliodas had a dark past and could be the darkest out of all the sins. He also supposedly had bouts where he lost control of himself and destroyed a lot of stuff.
* DarkIsNotEvil: [[spoiler: Despite the fact that Meliodas is apparently part demon, he isn't a bad guy. The problem though is that he has little to no control when he is angry or in his Black Mark mode.]]
* DeclarationOfProtection: It seems that Meliodas promised to protect the kingdom of Danafor long ago. [[spoiler: That didn't worked out too well.]] Now though, Meliodas declared that he would protect Elizabeth with his life.
* DirtyKid: Subverted. Though Meliodas looks like a kid that fondles Elizabeth alot he's actually [[OlderThanTheyLook older than he looks]]. He's more like a DirtyOldMan without looking like one.
* EveryoneHasStandards: In Volume 6, Meliodas dislike peeping on girls during bath time because it cause guilt for the peeper. However, it was PlayedForLaughs when he decided to go bathe with the girls.
* FailureKnight: [[spoiler: Meliodas was a leader of the Danafor knight until it's fall which Meliodas consider his greatest failure.]]
* FatalFlaw: Due to his unwillingness to kill others, this tends to come right back at him.
* AFatherToHisMen / BenevolentBoss: The Deadly Sins so far show some sign of this toward Meliodas, especially Ban.
* FlashStep: Meliodas is capable of traveling at extremely fast speeds. Of note is when [[spoiler: he was in his wrath mode and ripped Guila's hand off to get his sword back so fast that she didn't even realized what happened to her]].
* FoeTossingCharge: After Elizabeth gets kidnapped, Meliodas in one instance just plows through several lower ranking Holy Knights without even giving them so much as a chance for proper banter.
* {{Glamour}}: [[spoiler:Meliodas could be a demon who is hiding his form.]]
* GoodEyesEvilEyes: Normally, he has regular looking eyes but when [[spoiler: in his Black Mark mode]], he has BlackEyesOfEvil.
* GreenLanternRing: [[spoiler: Meliodas can turn his black mark into wings, blade, and giant claw hand]].
* HairAntennae: He has a pair of small cowlicks that stand rather prominently atop his head and are kinda reflective of some parts of his personality.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Meliodas might be a pervert who seems to have no shame for fondling Elizabeth, but he does care a lot for his friends, helps strangers, and shows some mercy to some people who try to kill him.
* HalfHumanHybrid: [[spoiler: Meliodas appears to have Demon Blood powering him up like the Demon Reactors of the Holy Knights. However unlike them, he appears to be naturally mixed to begin with.]]
* HatesBeingTouched: Played with when someone tries to steal or touch his sword.
* HeroesPreferSwords: His main weapon despite not using a real sword.
* TheHero: Out of all the Sins, Meliodas seem to care less what he gets from it, but it could be just for Elizabeth or redeem himself.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: Meliodas and Ban are so buddy-buddies that they [[spoiler:destroy Basta Dungeon while arm wresting each other for fun.]]
* HiddenDepths: Meliodas seems like a happy, calm, and tricky type of person but deep down he has immense rage [[spoiler: and he could be a demon hiding in a human form.]]
* IdiotHero: Meliodas isn't really an idiot but he is shown to be oblivious to King's change of forms.
* ILetGwenStacyDie: He apparently let his former lover Liz die.
* KingArthur: Meliodas is based and named after [[ Tristan's father]] and the second king of Lyonesse in the Arthurian myths.
* KnightInShiningArmor: Like King, Meliodas has shown some signs of being a noble knight but Meliodas has the bravery while King is more of a gentleman.
* TheLeader: He is the captain of the Seven Deadly Sins despite his appearance.
* LegalJailbait: RareMaleExample. When Meliodas and Liz were an OfficialCouple, he still looked like a child.
* LethalChef: Meliodas food might seem good but it really taste horrible.
* LovableSexManiac: Meliodas is generally this trope as he often does all sort of perverted things. For some reason though however, he only does so only to Elizabeth than to other girls.
* MadeOfIron: Meliodas is capable of surviving all sorts of punishment. Notably, he is able to survive and walk away from the fury of a completely jealous Diane.
* MasterSwordsman: Meliodas possesses incredible ImplausibleFencingPowers with a sword or anything substituting for one. With a poor facsimile of a sword, he can cut mountains if he exerted himself enough. With a real one, he can cut down demons who are impervious to most conventional weapons and techniques.
* MomentKiller: When Elizabeth gave him a passionate hug after being saved by Diane, he ruined the moment when he started touching Elizabeth's butt, saying she needed underwear.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: Though he has child-like arms, it doesn't stop him from breaking steel.
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler: Meliodas declare that his sins is unable to save Danafor or his lover Liz]].
* NiceGuy: Despite his perverted nature, Meliodas is generally a nice guy. His kindness is the reason that made Ban and Diane follow him.
* NoGuyWantsToBeChased: Meliodas dislike Diane wanting him as her lover.
* ObliviousToLove: To Elizabeth's love.
* OfficialCouple: With Liz during his time in Danafor until her death.
* OnlySaneMan / StraightMan: In [[WhatCouldHaveBeen the initial one shot]] of the manga and the ''Manga/FairyTail'' crossover, he is portrayed as this instead of his more perverted self.
* PantyThief: On their initial meeting, Meliodas teased Elizabeth by saying he used to steal panties ten years ago. In the next chapter, he actually stole hers but later decided to give it back.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: [[spoiler:Meliodas, in his backstory, wiped out the kingdom of Danafor single-handedly when he lost control of his powers in the past.]]
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Despite his size, Meliodas is very strong.
* PlayingWithFire: The only named technique that Meliodas has so far that is genuinely offense based rather than counter based, is Hellblaze. It is an enchantment that so far lets Meliodas coat his weapons in black colored fire. It is also the fire that scarred Ban.
** FlamingSword: The weapons that so far have been enchanted by this technique have been swords.
** SpellBlade: The technique enchants weapons so that Meliodas can attack opponents with fire.
** TechnicolorFire: The flames of the technique are colored black.
* PowerTattoo: [[spoiler: When he has tattoo-like markings on his face.]]
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: Meliodas looks like a kid, but he's actually way older. It's later revealed he has been around since at least a few hundred of years ago. It's hinted his appearance is some sort of illusion [[spoiler: as a disguise for probably being a demon of some sort.]]
* RoaringRampageOfRescue: Meliodas won't let several Holy Knights guarding Liones stand in his way when Elizabeth is kidnapped.
* SealedBadassInACan: [[spoiler: Was temporarily sealed into a charm by Veronica.]]
* TheShadowKnows: [[spoiler:Meliodas casts a rather demonic shadow in Chapter 28 as a hint of his true nature.]]
* ShieldsAreUseless: Meliodas briefly used a shield against the Armored Giant before it melted away.
* SignatureLaugh: His is "Ni-Shi-Shi."
* SingleTargetSexuality: It appears that Meliodas is Elizabeth-sexual in the sense that he has only shown attraction to [[IdenticalStranger uncannily identically looking girls]] who are not only [[OneSteveLimit both named Elizabeth]] but also seem to be suspiciously related to his past. The first was his former lover nicknamed Liz and the second is Princess Elizabeth. Because of this, Meliodas was asked by a friend of his if he was [[ReplacementGoldfish simply projecting Liz unto the princess]] in their relationship. He doesn't answer.
* SuperPoweredEvilSide: When a demon sealing item is used on him, he briefly vanishes before reappearing half covered with the tiny black marks that had shown on him a few times before when he brought out great power. In this form, he is far stronger than before, but acts almost entirely on instinct with only the slightest ability to tell friend from foe. He's incredibly violent, but looks vacant, innocent and mindless.
* TechnicalPacifist: While Meliodas dislikes the idea of killing people, he is not above hurting foes.
* ThanksForTheMammary: Meliodas tends to grab Elizabeth's bosom and before that, Liz.
* ThouShaltNotKill: Meliodas dislikes the idea of killing a person off whether they are good or bad.
* TragicKeepsake: Meliodas uses a seemingly worthless broken sword as his primary weapon and never goes anywhere without it. It was never revealed how he got the item but [[spoiler: is one of the keys to unseal the Demon Clan]]. Meliodas says carrying around this sword is the only thing he can do to atone his sins, [[BerserkButton so you better don't touch it]].
* TranquilFury: [[spoiler: when in his incomplete Mark Mode, he would still remain calm, but blood hungry]].
* UnstoppableRage: [[spoiler: Meliodas' sin was when he destroyed the kingdom of Danafor out of rage.]]
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Ban.
* WillfullyWeak: In order to not kill, Meliodas willfully limits his strength either by not using any weapon, or by using ones that are extremely damaged.

Diane is a member of the Seven Deadly Sins, the Serpent's Sin of Envy. She is also a member of the Giant's Clan.

* ActionGirl: Diane being a giant and her powers makes her one of most powerful action girls in the manga so far.

* AlliterativeName: Ground Gladius, one of her techniques in which she creates a {{BFS}} larger than her from the ground to attack an opponent.
* AmnesiacLover: [[spoiler:Not actually a lover, but she was way closer to King when she was a child and seems to have reciprocated his feelings back then since she wanted him to always love her. The current state of their relationship is complicated since King himself erased her memories of their past relationship and she's now smitten with Meliodas.]]
* AmplifierArtifact: Each of the Sins is supposed to have a Sacred Treasure, a holy weapon that allows them to draw on even more of their innate power. Unfortunately, Diane lost her weapon.
* ArentYouGoingToRavishMe: Gets this way when Meliodas doesn't fondle her like he does to Elizabeth [[spoiler: even in normal size, he refuses to do it, to Diane's dismay but the reason is that he wouldn't do it to someone so important to him.]]
* {{Badass}}: She's just as capable as her male compatriots in combat.
** BadassAdorable: She's also very cute, especially whenever she's trying to get Meliodas' attention.

* BerserkButton: Don't you ever harm a tiny little hair on Meliodas, [[spoiler: Helbram learns that the hard way.]]
* BettyAndVeronica: The Veronica to Elizabeth's Betty and Meliodas' Archie. Diane is a clingy easily jealous exotic giantess while Elizabeth is a very sweet and generally calm regular human.
* TheBigGirl: Both literally and figuratively. Diane is not only the biggest Sin but also tends to favor physical attacks the most.
* BoobsOfSteel: She is easily the most physically powerful female of the Sins and she has the breasts to show it.
* CharacterTics: Hair twirling.
* ChildProdigy: When Diane was a young child, she was able to create two rock golems despite how young she was compared to the rest of the Giant Clan.
* CleavageWindow: Diane's regular spandex outfit is worn open and shows a fair amount of cleavage. [[spoiler: When she was shrunken, she adapts this style briefly while wearing Elizabeth's clothes.]]
* ClingyJealousGirl: Diane gets really jealous when Meliodas interacts with other girls than her, most notably Elizabeth. Sometimes her jealousy is expressed subtly and sometimes it's expressed as large as her size.
* ClothingDamage: [[spoiler: While shrunken, Diane used Elizabeth's clothes and ended up having them damaged either from Hauser or from her slowly returning to her normal size.]]
* ChromeChampion: Her appearance turns into this when she turns herself into metal.
* CryCute: Diane had these moment when she thought Meliodas "cheated" on her and when she was tired of being left at the Boar Hat due to her being a giant.
* CuteBruiser
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Like the other sins, Diane holds a dark past which hadn't been reveal yet.
* {{Determinator}}: She tries to rescue Elizabeth even after [[spoiler: Dreyfus]] beats her.

** ElementalShapeshifter: In addition to her Creation power, she is capable of turning into metal.
* DropTheHammer: Diane's Sacred Treasure is a giant warhammer. If a panel in Chapter 50 is proportionally correct, Gideon is almost twice as tall as she is!

* FunbagAirbag: During an attack from Guila, Meliodas landed into Diane's cleavage. She however was delighted at the accident.
* GentleGiant: Despite being a giant known as a great criminal, Diane is quite friendly, but mess with Meliodas, she will not forgive you.

* GreenEyedMonster: Whenever Meliodas gets close with other females.

* LaserGuidedAmnesia: [[spoiler:She met King long ago and they were very close. However, King erased her memories related to him after he learned about what happened to his friend Helbram.]]
* LeotardOfPower: Her standard attire is a yellow orange leotard.
* LoveMakesYouDumb: Diane sometimes tends to act a bit dumb when comes to matters with Meliodas.
* MadeOfIron: Due to being a Giant, she appears to handle powerful attacks well. [[spoiler: When Dreyfus made a hole in her chest and leg, she is still able to move around.]]
* MsFanservice: Diane is sometimes this, though not as much as Elizabeth.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Mother Catastrophe, the name of one of Diane's more devastating techniques.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Most notably whenever she is jealous.
* ObliviousToLove: She doesn't notice King's crush on her at all.
* OurGiantsAreBigger: Diane, the Serpent's Sin of Envy, is a very attractive young lady... who happens to be enormous. She's too big to fit in most buildings, and actually laments her great height, since it means she can't interact normally with Meliodas, on whom she has a major crush.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: UpToEleven with Gideon.
* ThePromise: [[spoiler: In the past during their time together, Diane asked King to promise her that he would always love forever.]]
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: Like fairies, giants have a much longer lifespan than humans. Despite her looks, Diane is at least seven hundred years old.
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: Diane usually doesn't care if she is put in situations that are just blatant fanservice, such as her clothes being almost ripped apart. She cares even less if it involves being with with Meliodas. She however was ashamed that one time with Hauser during their battle in the Byzel Festival when she thought he was being a pervert.
* SheIsAllGrownUp: Compared to what she used to look like as a child, puberty apparently was really kind to her.
* SillyMeGesture: She sometimes hits herself cutely in acknowledgement of some of her ditzier instances.

* [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes Why Did It Have to be Bugs]]: Diane is afraid of bugs, but will put that aside to help Meliodas.
* WomanScorned: If Diane thinks that Meliodas has scorned her despite she not being his girlfriend, she can go completely ballistic.
* {{Yandere}}: Diane can at times be extremely crazy jealous especially if she thinks Meliodas has "cheated" on her. When she's like this, not even Meliodas is safe.

Ban is a member of the Seven Deadly Sins, the Fox's Sin of Greed.

In the past, Ban was a bandit who went by the moniker "Bandit Ban". He sought out the FountainOfYouth in the Fairy King's forest in order to gain immortality in the hopes of living long enough for something good to actually happen to him. Instead, he met with the fountain's guardian Elaine and over the course of seven days, they both developed deep feelings for one another. However in the midst of it all, a Demon attacked the forest and deeply wounded both Ban and Elaine. In a sheer act of sacrifice, Ban was saved by Elaine when she gave him a drink from the fountain instead of saving herself. Having become immortal, Ban took care of the Demon but the damage to the forest was done. For what happened, Ban was accused of the crime for which he didn't defend himself against.

Later, Ban was personally recruited by Meliodas to join the Seven Deadly Sins. As Meliodas was the second person after Elaine to acknowledge him, Ban joined the order. After the Sins were framed, he let himself be captured and imprisoned in Baste Dungeon, only to escape years later when he discovered that Meliodas was still alive.

* AntiHero: He's one of the more amoral of the Sins yet he is a hero nonetheless.
* {{Badass}}: Even before becoming immortal, he was already a famous thief. He was even capable of snatching a powerful demon's heart. Now that he's immortal, he's even more powerful.
* BareYourMidriff: His standard attire leaves a bit of his midriff seen.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Ban decided to follow Meliodas because the latter was the only one besides Elaine to accept, in Ban's own words, a shitty person such as himself. Because of this, Ban also trusts Meliodas so much that he refuses to believe that [[spoiler: Meliodas may actually be a demon.]]
* BerserkButton: Due to what happened with Elaine, Ban doesn't like demons. Demons tick him off so much that [[spoiler: he refuses to believe that Meliodas may actually be a demon.]]
* BigWhat: When Hawk revealed that he could talk, was told the small kid he was fighting was King, and when King transform into his fat selves.
* BloodyHilarious: Ban being immortal is sometimes played for laughs like when Diane crushed Ban's entire upper body and squirted blood out top as he if she were squeezing juice from a fruit, and the whole thing was treated like [[AmusingInjuries slapstick]].
* BringMyRedJacket: Fitting as an immortal that is often subjugated to all sorts of bloody wounds that he can just simply heal from, his standard attire is predominately red.
* CantHoldHisLiquor: Shows signs of this trope.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Ban's childhood wasn't all that great, and his life before joining the Sins was so bad that he wanted to become immortal to see if anything good would happen in his life.
* ADayInTheLimelight: In Bandit Ban.
* EroticDream: Has one of Elaine.
* EveryScarHasAStory: The story behind Ban's very prominent scar is that he tried to take Meliodas' sword.
* {{Expy}}: Design-wise, Ban's choice of clothes make him look like Hikyou Bancho from Manga/KongohBancho, the previous work of the manga's author, Suzuki Nakaba. It's made more apparent when Ban picks up a whip similar in design to Hikyou Bancho's.
* FightingWithChucks: Ban's holy weapon before it was ironically stolen was a three-stick variant that enhanced his stealing abilities.
* HealingFactor: Ban has this as one of his two abilities. He is literally unkillable by conventional means, but unconventional means like being TakenForGranite can still be lethal for him...
* HellBentForLeather: Ban typically dresses in a red skin tight leather attire.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: With Elaine.
* HumanPincushion: Ban is sometimes the victim of this but survives it due to being immortal.
* {{Immortality}}: It's the reason why he heals so fast. He got this ability from drinking the Fountain of Youth.
* ImmortalitySeeker: Ban sought out the Fountain of Youth in order to become immortal. His reason for doing this was that he believed that if he lived long enough, something good would eventually happen for him. He gave up this quest when he learned that it would destroy the forest. Unfortunately, he still became immortal via Elaine's HeroicSacrifice.
* ImmortalHero: Well he isn't exactly heroic, but he is one of the main characters.
* ImmortalLifeIsCheap / GoodThingYouCanHeal: Ban is often subjected to the most brutal and otherwise lethal physical attacks such him being ripped apart to his bones broken. However due to being immortal, these are just minor annoyances. It's the unconventional attacks though that give him cause for concern.
* ImpossibleThief: Ban is capable of stealing an object a great distance away, and even [[AndShowItToYou an opponent's heart]] when aided with his holy weapon, [[FightingWithChucks a blunt three-stick nunchaku]] without any attachment.
* InterspeciesRomance: With Elaine.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Ban comes off as a jackass who doesn't care about anything but himself and the stuff he steals, but he's a good guy at heart. In his backstory, when he went after the elixir of immortality, Elaine told him that if he were to take the elixir, the forest surrounding it would die. Ban promptly decided that it wasn't worth it (claiming that the wild berries used in one of his favorite drinks were grown in that forest). He may be a thief, but he is not a monster.
* KillingIntent: Ban gives one to Oslo when they first meet.
* KingArthur: Ban is based and named after [[ King Ban]], Lancelot's father in the Arthurian myths.
* LivingForeverIsAwesome: Ban has considered this ever since he was young as he believes that if one lives long enough, something good might eventually happen to them.
* MayflyDecemberRomance: With Elaine.
* MercyKill: How Ban decided to deal with a Holy Knight that was heavily mutated.
* MistakenForMurderer: He's accused of having killed Elaine, when it was actually a demon who killed her and she sacrificed her life to save him.
* MrFanservice: Ban often wears skin tight clothing and is often a subject ShirtlessScene due to repeated ClothingDamage.
* MurderIsTheBestSolution: Resorts to this by default.
* NighInvulnerability: Due to his immortality, Ban handle all sort of attacks as if there were nothing.
* NoSell: Due to his immortality, normal attacks don't affect Ban at all and thus he usually acts like they're not a big deal.
* NotInThisForYourRevolution: While Ban is willing to help Elizabeth's cause, his motivation is less for upholding justice and more for getting a reward that would help him resurrect Elaine.
* OnlySaneMan: Not as bad as King, but when something unusual happens, like Hawk talking or King changing his form, he is the only one who truly freaks out.
* PowerParasite: [[spoiler: Ban can steal the physical abilities of his opponents, including speed, stamina and raw strength, and add it to his own, thus strengthening himself, and weakening his opponents. The downside, though, is that adding them to his body can make him heavier than he can carry himself if he's not careful.]]
* ThePromise: Ban promised to Elaine in the past that he will make her his, and he's still trying to do that despite her being dead.
* PunnyName: His moniker before becoming immortal was "Bandit Ban."
* RealMenWearPink: Ban seems tough but he did went through a stuffed animal phase of which unfortunately entailed stealing several from kids.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Subverted. While his eyes are red and he's a jerk, Ban usually has his heart in the right place.
* ScarsAreForever: Despite having received {{Immortality}} with an extensive HealingFactor, Ban received a large scar from Meliodas when he tried to take the latter's sword. The scar hasn't healed since then.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: The Manly Man to King's Sensitive Guy.
* SelectiveMagnetism: Part of Ban's ability, Snatch, allows him to pull things to himself from great distances like a magnet.
* SilentScapegoat: Regarding Elaine's death and the destruction of the forest. His motives for not letting on haven't been revealed so far.
* SpitTake: His reaction to King change of forms.
* StarCrossedLovers: With Elaine. He's immortal and she's dead however he is trying to find a way to rectify this.
* StreetUrchin: In his youth, Ban was one in order to survive.
* SueDonym: Ban enters his and Meliodas' names in the Byzel Fight Festival as Baan and Meliodaz respectively.
* TalkingInYourSleep: Ban was talking about planting a seed, which he might be mentioning the seed Elaine give him in the past.
* TeamChef: He is easily the best cook of the band.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Among the Sins revealed so far, Ban is the most amoral of them all, preferring to steal and even commit murder. However, that's just in comparison with his fellow Sins. In comparison with other more genuinely antagonistic characters, Ban is actually not that bad of a guy.
* TorsoWithAView: King blows his chest open during their first encounter, leaving a few scraps of flesh on both side to support his upper body. It quickly fills in as though nothing ever happened, however.
* VerbalTic: Ban tends to say some of his sentences in a song-like manner, as symbolized by a long sing tone at the end in his speech bubbles.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Meliodas. They drive great fun from beating the ever-loving crap out of each other, [[spoiler: but the thought of Meliodas possibly being a demon greatly upsets Ban.]]
* WhatTheHellHero: To Meliodas when the latter refused to kill an opponent even when the opponent was a heavily mutated Holy Knight [[MercyKill whose death would end his suffering]]. Ban even punches Meliodas due to said matter.
* WhipItGood: During the battle with the mutated Holy Knight who wore Gowther's armor, Ban picked up a whip as weapon against it. The whip's design, combined with Ban's tight fitting clothes, makes Ban look like an {{Expy}} of Hikyou Bancho from Manga/KongohBancho, the previous work of the manga's author, Suzuki Nakaba.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: He is not bad but is dangerous.

King is a member of the Seven Deadly Sins, the Grizzly's Sin of Sloth. He is the master of the Black Hound, Oslo. King's real name is Fairy King Harlequin, and as the name suggests, he was the king of the fairies.

700 years before the start of the story, King left the Fairy world to save his friend who was captured by some humans. However through some TraumaInducedAmnesia, he ended up forgetting [[IdentityAmnesia who he was]] and his original mission. For the next 500 years, King spent relative bliss and ignorance slowly recovering his memories. It was only when he reunited with his friend again did King learn that his old friend was massacring countless humans over the centuries, an act which was practically a declaration of war between the Human and Fairy Clan. For [[AccompliceByInaction his inaction]] to stop his friend from doing so all those years, King was sentenced to an imprisonment of over 1000 years. In the midst of it though, he was recruited into the Seven Deadly Sins.

After the incident in which the Sins were framed, King attempted to return to the Fairy King's forest only to learn that it had been burned down and that his sister, Elaine, had also died. When he learns that Ban is the supposed perpetrator of this crime, King briefly allies himself with the Holy Knights of Liones until learning the truth. Upon which he also reunites with his fellow Sins.

* [[ABoyAndHisX A Fairy King and his dog]]: Oslo is King's dog.
* AccompliceByInaction: His crime is this for doing nothing to stop his friend massacre humans for over 500 years unopposed due to King having amnesia and not knowing what was really happened.
* TheAtoner: He willingly allowed himself to be imprisoned for a thousand years to atone for not being there for his friend.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: He's the lord of the fairies.
* {{Badass}}: Came close to actually defeating Ban, who is an immortal. His incredible power was also the reason the truce between humans and fairies was kept, because any army trying to invade the forest of fairies was always repelled by him.
* TheBeastmaster: Somehow holds complete control over a Black Hound.
* BerserkButton: Harming those he cares about is what makes him mad. Him being too late and mentioning it to him to protect those he cares about, makes him furious.
* ButtMonkey: He is often the StraightMan to the other Sins' antics and a DoggedNiceGuy in regards to Diane.
* CannotSpitItOut: King can't tell Diane how he feels because he is shy about his feelings and that she only shows interest in Meliodas.
* CassandraTruth: King is having a hard time after finding out that Elaine wanted to save Ban and that he is not the person he thinks he is.
* CovertPervert: While he personally denies being one, it's rather clear that some of his feelings towards Diane are rather dirty minded.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: For not being the one who actually protected the fountain, he lost his sister and the forest he lived in was destroyed.
* DoggedNiceGuy: King really wants to be with Diane [[spoiler: as per the promise he made with her]]. However due to varying circumstances and the fact that Diane is smitten with Meliodas, he's really having a hard time.
* DualAgeModes: King's human form which he can change to is what he would look if his form was much older.
* EnemyMine: King temporarily teams up with the Holy Knights in order to get at Ban when he believes the latter is the one responsible for his sister's death. He only sought Ban and not the other Sins though. The truce falls apart after being reunited with Elaine's ghost in the Capital of the Dead.
* [[EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep Everyone Calls Him King]]: King's name is just a title used by others as a reference to him being the Fairy King. His real name is actually Harlequin though it is rarely used by most characters.
* {{Flight}}: This is King's specialty, as he and his spear are able to levitate effortlessly.
* FlyingWeapon: Via his powers, King is capable of levitating his weapon Chastiefol and attack enemies with it in mid air.
* GameFace: King uses his human form as his game face.
* GardenGarment: His clothes are actually plant based which he made himself after watching some humans make some.
* {{Glamour}}: Inverted with King. Instead of transforming into a more youthful form, he can take on a older, fatter one. He originally used it as a form of respect rather than a disguise. However after reuniting with Meliodas, he unintentionally uses it for a wide range of reactions for various hilarious situations.
* GlassCannon: King maybe able to dish out great damage via magic but he can't withstand physical attacks especially when his spear's defensive capabilities are broken through. This also applies to his Sacred Treasure, capable of dealing great damage but easily breaks apart when hit with ice magic.
* {{Gonk}}: King's human form is a fat slob-looking man.
* HopelessSuitor: He has a huge crush on Diane, who's only interested in Meliodas.
* IdentityAmnesia / TraumaInducedAmnesia: In his back story, King endend up having amnesia after [[spoiler:a human merchant slashed his back and knocked him out which caused King to end up forgetting who he is for about 500 years which led to his sins.]]
* InstantCostumeChange: As a Fairy, King is able to not only change his form, but his clothing as well.
* InterspeciesRomance: King, who is a fairy, has a large crush on Diane, who is a giant.
* InvoluntaryShapeshifter: King sometimes shape shifts into his human form as a form of his expression in any given situation.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: Doesn't seem to resent the fact that Diane's crush on Meliodas makes it hard for him to have a chance to get together with her and is happy with just spending time with her.
* LegalJailbait: Like Meliodas, he is a RareMaleExample with his true fairy form that looks like a child. Averted with his human form.
* MorphWeapon: King's Sacred Treasure, Chastiefol can change its shape via King's will.
** BeehiveBarrier: The spear's eighth form, Pollen Garden, is a barrier comprised of interlocking circles of pollen that resemble part of Chastidol's regular weapon design. It is also capable of healing wounds albeit rather slowly.
** BladeOnAStick: Chastiefol is a spear and has the form of an intricately designed one in its regular weapon form. Its third form, Formalization, is also a spear but with a completely different design, the most notable is a claw shaped blade.
** FlechetteStorm: The spear's fifth form, Increase, is a myriad of kunai-like spearheads shaped like the spearhead of its regular weapon form. These King can use to swarm his enemies, or to protect himself by surrounding himself with them.
** GreenThumb: The spear's fourth form, Sunflower, is a giant flower that can shoot lasers at King's opponents.
** KillerTeddyBear: The spear's second form, Guardian, is a giant four-armed pillow-like teddy bear King can use to attack his opponents.
** TakenForGranite: The spear's third form, Formalization, has this as one of its powers.
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler:He was too late to save Helbram and his friends from humans and then he got amnesia and indirectly let a crazed Helbram kill humans for 500 years.]]
* MySisterIsOffLimits: He didn't want Ban to have a relationship with Elaine at first.
* NiceGuy: King is possibly one of the nicest guys in the series.
* {{Nosebleed}}: King tends to have this in certain situations with Diane.
* OnlySaneMan: Out of all the Sins currently, King is so far the most serious, and sometimes gets shocked at what his teammates do.
* OurFairiesAreDifferent: King is a long living child-like wingless humanoid capable of levitating himself and other things. King, though, can transform himself into an older, fatter version of himself. For some reason though, only he and his sister appear to be wingless. Other fairies so far have wings.
* PowersDoTheFighting: When fighting, King only lets [[FlyingWeapon Flying]] and MorphWeapon Chastiefol do most of the work rather than fight directly.
* ThePromise: He makes two significant ones to two important people in his past.
** With one friend, [[spoiler: Helbram]], King promised that if the former ever came to a point where he would absolutely hate all humans, King would stop him since they were the best of friends. [[spoiler: King eventually fulfills it by killing an AxCrazy Helbram once and for all.]]
** To another friend, [[spoiler: Diane, King promised her that he would always love her forever.]] He is trying to keep this despite certain complications.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: King is at least older than his sister who is over seven hundred years old.
* RelationshipResetButton: [[spoiler:He and Diane were very close friends long ago and she even made him promise to always love her, but King erased her memories after deciding to atone for his sin against Helbram. Now, they managed to meet again as members of the Sins, but King can't get as close to Diane as he did in the past, since she doesn't remember him and Meliodas is now the only one in her mind.]]
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: In his past, King use to protect the Fairy Forest with his own powers and doesn't sent out his men to do it.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: The Sensitive Guy to Ban's Manly Man.
* SingleTargetSexuality: In all his ''really'' long life, King has never shown the slightest interest in any girl other than Diane. [[spoiler:He has loved her ever since she was very young.]]
* SmugSnake: He sometimes is this with opponents due to his powers. An example was his fight against Guila and Jericho wherein whenever they tried to attack, he pretended to be surprised only to reveal later that he was just kidding.
* SquishyWizard: King has incredible magic skills, especially when aided with his Holy Weapon. Physically however, he can't even land a hit on an old man with a bad back by himself.
* StalkerWithACrush: In the Boar Hat, King sleeps next to a window with a hammock just to view Diane sleeping. He claims it's to keep an eye over her and [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial not to watch her helpless sleeping form]].
* StraightMan: King tends to play this in relation to the antics and personalities of the other Sins most of the time.
* SurvivorGuilt: When King went back to his home country, he found it was in ruins and his sister was killed. King has regretted this ever since, and shed tears thinking if he hadn't left, this might not have happened.
* SympathyForTheDevil: King sympathizes with Helbram despite the latter doing all sorts of atrocious things [[spoiler: as Helbram is actually King's old friend gone mad with hatred for humans due to King being too late to save him.]]
* {{Telekinesis}}: King is capable of moving things from afar. This range from simply pushing teacup off a table, to levitating a large amount of water out of a lake.
* TimeDissonance: Since fairies have a way longer lifespan, King has a very different time perception than regular humans. Something that happened "recently" for him could have happened several years ago from a human time perception.
* TinyGuyHugeGirl: With Diane.
* WillfullyWeak: First mentioned by Helbram and later by Gowther, King apparently refused to use his full power when he and Helbram first clashed. It apparently involves a promise from their past.
* [[YouKilledMyFather You Killed My Sister]]: He initially tries to kill Ban, believing he killed Elaine.
* YouAreTooLate: This has apparently been a repeated bane that has plagued King's life. He was too late to do anything in an incident that happened in his past, he was too late to save his sister, and he was too late to [[spoiler: protect Diane.]]

Gowther is a member of the Seven Deadly Sins, the Goat's Sin of Lust. He is a mysterious man who initially appeared as a large armored person second in size only to Diane. His armor was sighted in Ordan Forest whereupon Helbram sent Dawn Roar to capture him. Upon reuniting with the rest of the Sins, it was revealed that he is actually an effeminate looking normal sized man who went by the alias Armando.

* AloofAlly: Due to his emotionless nature, Gowther didn't speak or get close to the other Sins until they were reunited again.
* AmbiguouslyGay: Despite being emotionless, Gowther is very effeminate looking and doesn't seem to mind when a bunch of guys that he brainwashed sees him as his lover. He is also often portrayed in a way that seems to question his sexuality.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: Unlike the other four prominent Sins, it's not clear what Gowther is. However, he doesn't age, his speech may simply be telepathy, he has the ability to manipulate emotions and bonds and fatal wounds sometimes don't seem to affect him. At one point, he mentions offhandedly how every member of the group present is a different race such as a giant, fairy or pig, but gives no indication as to what either he or Meliodas is.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: Gowther gives one to Threader asking the latter if he received all the info he was acting on directly from the king.
* ArrowCatch: Gowther reveals his true identity by doing this to a supercharged arrow that was fired off like a KamehameHadoken.
* {{Badass}}: As one of the Sins, this is to be expected.
** BadassPacifist: Seems to be shaping into one, considering he prefers to solve fights and conflicts with nonviolent solutions.
** BadassBookworm: Despite being emotionless, Gowther enjoy heartfelt tales that humans make and act out whenever he read one.
* BeautifulAllAlong: Underneath the scruffy looking Armando persona is actually a very good looking man.
* BeleagueredAssistant: As Armando, he is a beleaguered servant who is often reluctantly dragged into the childish antics and games of his young master Pelio. He puts up with them out of a sense of duty and gratitude towards the young boy.
* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler: Saved Guila just when she was going to be killed by Dreyfus]].
* {{Bishounen}}: Upon revealing his true identity, Gowther reveals that he is actually a very effeminate looking man.
* BlindWithoutEm: Gowther can't see without his glasses on. When they are off, his effeminate looking eyes also become very comically squinty when he tries to concentrate seeing.
* BreakThemByTalking: Gowther completely ends a fight with Threader by asking the latter a very ArmorPiercingQuestion.
* BridalCarry: [[spoiler: How he carried Guila after saving her.]]
* BrutalHonesty: Thanks to NoSocialSkills and no emotions, Gowther sometimes just tells things completely outright with little to no regard for others.
* TheComicallySerious: Gowther always has a completely emotionless expression that together with his constantly deadpan attitude and poor social skills make him an easy source of comedy. It's even more funny when he apparently tries to not act serious. What is presented is a poor imitation of genuine emotion thanks to his deadpan face not aligning with his words and actions.
* CreepyMonotone: Gowther normally speaks in a way that is completely devoid of emotion. One character even noted that he sounded as if he was sleepy. This way of talking is rendered in Gowther's speech bubbles looking more like narration boxes rather than the standard circular ones normally used by other characters.
* DivingSave / TakingTheBullet: He pushed Pelio away from the Armored Giant but got crushed by it. Fortunately, he survived it.
* DissonantSerenity: Though his lack of emotions is mostly played for laughs, it however can come off as being genuinely frightening such as when he is [[MindRape Mind Raping]] an opponent without so much as a apparent shred of human remorse.
* DullSurprise: Due to Gowther's emotionless personality, he normally has a very dull expression to practically everything. In fact, even when trying to imitate a mocking laugh after shrugging off [[spoiler: his neck being snapped by Threader]], it just comes off as being very laughable dull.
* EmotionlessBoy: Not only does he not display emotions, he doesn't seem to really understand them either. He finds them rather interesting, however, especially the idea that he was protecting the Armored Giant because he empathized with it.
* TheEmpath: Despite being emotionless himself, Gowther is capable of reading others' emotions. Due to having NoSocialSkills though, him reading people's true emotions and telling them out loud can be very rude.
* EnergyBow: Gowther is able to produce an arm mounted EnergyBow from which he uses his power "Invasion".
** DualWielding: His Sacred Treasure the Twin Bow Herrit are two such bows mounted on each of his arms. These allow him send out a MagicMissileStorm of energy based arrows.
* {{Expy}}: Of Machine Banchou from ''KongohBancho''. They look similar, wear glasses and have the same hairstyle. Both don't understand the concept of human feelings very well and have an unique relationship with a child.
* TheFaceless: Prior to TheReveal, he was shown in flashbacks and wanted posters completely only in armor. Apparently, the other Sins didn't know Gowther's true form similar to how Ban didn't know King's fairy form.
* FriendlyEnemy: He was rather polite to Threader when they fought one on one.
* HeCleansUpNicely: Gowther is a ridiculous example of this. While pretending to be Armando, he has very unkempt shaggy hair and generally looks like a dork. When he reveals his true identity, he changes his hairstyle and reveals his very effeminate looking appearance.
* HeelFaceBrainwashing: Gowther's ability "Rewrite Light" allows him to temporarily [[FakeMemories rewrite the memories]] of foes so that they see Gowther and anyone with him as either their family, close friends, or lovers. After the ability ends, those affected don't remember what they did while brainwashed.
** EvenTheGuysWantHim: Those that temporarily see Gowther as their lover aren't restricted by gender as evident by a number of clearly male knights suddenly being enamored by Gowther. While this doesn't bother Gowther, this situation apparently seems to extends to his fellow male Sins as well.
* HoldingBothSidesOfTheConversation / MasterActor: He was acting for two after reading a book he liked.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: He at times comes off as this due to having NoSocialSkills.
* InterGenerationalFriendship: With Pelio.
* KingArthur: Gowther is based and named after [[ Sir Gowther]] of medieval lore who is said to be the half brother of {{Merlin}} of the KingArthur mythos.
* LightEmUp: The majority of his abilities are light based in nature.
* LongRangeFighter: Some Holy Knights note that Gowther is at a disadvantage in close range combat due to most of his techniques being long range attacks.
* MasterOfIllusion: Gowther is capable of entrapping foes within their own minds with illusions.
** LotusEaterMachine: His technique "Invasion", which he executes via arrows fired from his EnergyBow, basically traps opponents in their mind and shows them what [[YourHeartsDesire their heart's desire]].
** MindRape: In contrast to "Invasion" though, "Nightmare Teller" traps foes and makes them face their personal sins to NightmareFuel extents.
* {{Megane}}: Gowther is this when he reveals himself.
* MessyHair: As Armando, Gowther had this.
* NarratorAllAlong: Due to his unique way of speaking rendered by being placed within square balloons[[note]] (Speech balloons usually reserved for narration in comics)[[/note]] as opposed to other characters' normal speech balloons, he came off as this when he revealed himself.
* NoOneCouldSurviveThat: [[spoiler:Threader broke his neck, he just fixed it.]]
* NoSell: He completely survives alot of attacks with nothing but a DullSurprise on his face towards them.
* NoSocialSkills: Despite being able to use his ability and analytical mind to pick up on the secrets of others, he has basically no sense of when it is or isn't appropriate to share this information.
* OpaqueNerdGlasses: As Armando.
* PowerLimiter: The gigantic armor that Gowther wore was actually a power limiter to suppress and prevent powers from becoming uncontrollable.
* RedHeadedHero: His hair is reddish pink on the color pages.
* TheReveal: Armando was actually Gowther in disguise. The one in his former armor was actually a heavily mutated Holy Knight.
* SenpaiKohai: Since Dawn Road are the Seven Sins's replacement he considers that Threader is his Junior.
* ShirtlessScene: In chapter 66.5's cover.
* TheSpock: Gowther is very analytical.
* SpontaneousWeaponCreation: Gowther is capable of spontaneously creating his {{Energy Bow}}s in battle.
* TheStoic: Upon revealing his true identity, Gowther reveals that he is extremely devoid of emotions as opposed to his cowardly and overly emotional Armando disguise.
* {{Telepathy}}: One of Gowther's abilities, "Search Light", allows him to read people's memories as if they were recordings.

A female character. She is the Boar's Sin of Gluttony and her location is currently unknown despite Gowther specifically attempting to find her.

* CrystalBall: She possesses one.
* FaceHeelTurn: Acording to Gowther [[spoiler: she is the traitor and who knocked Meliodas 10 years ago. Her motives remain a mistery.]]
* {{Flight}}: In a brief shot of the Seven Deadly Sins in the past, all wearing their armors, she is shown to be floating a few feet above the floor.
* GenderBlenderName: She has very male wizard name.
* GenderFlip: Merlin in this series is a woman.
* LadyOfWar: She has the looks.
** BattleBallgown: Of course, she wears one of those.
* {{Merlin}}: She is based and named after the most famous wizard in the Arthurian legends.

An old man who appears to use a lance. He is the Lion's Sin of Pride, the last remaining member of the Seven Deadly Sins.

* BladeOnAStick: He apparently uses a spear of some sort.
* KingArthur: He is based and named after [[ Escanor]], a knight of the Round Table who kidnapped a serving maid from Arthur's court and killed by Sir Gawain for it.

* GracefulLadiesLikePurple: Her waitress uniform is a predominately purple.

[[spoiler: She's from the kingdom of Danafor.]] Whether this means she's adopted or born out of wedlock has yet to be made clear. What is known however is that the King apparently accepted her as his daughter, as evidenced in an apparent Crowning Moment of Heartwarming wherein he desperately tried to get her down from a tree despite not knowing how to climb.
* TheHeart: Diane point out that Elizabeth was able to move both her and Meliodas. She was able to convince King to help the Sins and Meliodas to use his former lover sword.
* HeIsNotMyBoyfriend: Diane thought she was dating Meliodas when they first met. Elizabeth denied it, but later fell in love with Meliodas anyway.

* LivingEmotionalCrutch: Seems to be this to Meliodas for an unknown reason. It's speculated that it's because of her resemblance with his dead lover.
* TheLoad: How Elizabeth sees herself since she can't fight back with the Deadly Sins.
* LuminescentBlush: Shows sign of this whenever Meliodas does something perverted towards her. Originally, she did this mostly out of embarrassment only towards said perverted acts. However, she seems to be developing feelings for Meliodas and thus showed this also when Meliodas said some caring words to her.
* MayflyDecemberRomance: She is a 16 year old mortal girl and loves Meliodas, who despite his looks is actually a few hundred of years old.
* MeaningfulName: Her name is a [[ related variation]] [[ of]] [[ Isabelle]] who is the wife of [[ Meliodas]] from the Arthurian myths.
* MissingMom: Elizabeth's mother died a long time ago and thus Elizabeth didn't get to know her.
* MsFanservice: Elizabeth tends to be main subject of this most of time.

* NakedPeopleAreFunny: [[spoiler:When she was shrunk naked and had to hid in Diane's bosom, later teased by Meliodas.]]

* RichInDollarsPoorInSense: As revealed during a side story, Elizabeth is this. Not only has she never even seen a silver coin before but she also doesn't fully grasp the basic concept of what money is and its use.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Elizabeth, in spite of being a princess, goes to great lengths to help the Sins on their quest, and often regrets not being able to do more. In a {{Crowning Moment of Awesome}}, she saves two of the Sins by stealing the magic bell off a Holy Knight's staff... by biting the bell off while she's getting beaten bloody with it.
* ShelteredAristocrat: She was raised in a sheltered environment to such a degree that she has never seen a silver coin before, let alone grasp the basic concept of money.
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: To Meliodas since [[spoiler: Byzel]].

* UndyingLoyalty: Despite her sister telling her that Meliodas is a monster, Elizabeth still believes in Meliodas even if the world turn against him or Meliodas doesn't care about her.
* YourCheatingHeart: Parodied in the ''Manga/FairyTail'' crossover wherein Elizabeth's cuddling of Happy made Hawk jealous and run away. In response, she confessed tearfully that she made Hawk run away because she was "cheating" on him, a thing Meliodas pointed out in reality didn't go that far.

Hawk is a talking pig and Meliodas's companion. He is introduced as the cleaner of the Boar Hat bar who helps clean the disgusting food scraps.

* ButtMonkey: Hawk is often at times the butt of many jokes.
** IronButtMonkey: Despite being just a talking pig with no noteworthy combat skills, he has survived attacks that would otherwise kill an animal like him.
* CallingYourAttacks / RollingAttack: ROLLING HAM ATTACK.
* CowardlyLion: A pig version of this trope. Hawk tends to be cowardly but when Elizabeth wants to help people, he will come along.
* EatTheDog: Being a pig, it's a RunningGag that he's often seen as food supplies much to his dismay.
* GiganticAdultsTinyBabies: Hawk is the size of an average pig. His mom on the other hand is big enough to carry an entire bar.

* AnimalsNotToScale: She's a giant pig big enough to carry a small building.
* GiganticAdultsTinyBabies: Hawk's mom is extremely large while Hawk himself is the size of an average pig.
* GoodGuyBar: She, or rather her hat, serves as the base of operations for Meliodas and the Seven Deadly Sins. Incidentally since the Sins are criminals in the setting, it can be seen as a BadGuyBar from a different perspective.
* MobileKiosk: Due to the Boar Har serving as her hat, the bar can be moved around the land to serve various other customers in other places. As such, it often comes off as TheLittleShopThatWasntThereYesterday to people who come across the bar for the first time.
* UnnamedParent: So far she's only referred to as Hawk's Mom.

Oslo is King's pet black hound. He was initially encountered by Meliodas and the Sins with him on their way to the Capital of the Dead. * [[ABoyAndHisX A Fairy King and his dog]]: He is King's dog.

* TrademarkFavoriteFood: His favorite food is pork which is why he was kept a long time away from the rest of the group.

[[folder:Holy Knights of Liones]]

!!Holy Knights of Liones

The main antagonists of the series. They usurped the King of the Liones kingdom and subjugated the rest of the kingdom in order to prepare for the Holy War.

[[folder: Tropes pertaining to the Holy Knights in general ]]

* BloodKnight: Within the order, many of the knights have a passion for battle sometimes at the expense of others. The degree of which they display such tendencies differ with each knight.
* CoolHelmet: Possessors of most of the cool helmets within the series.
* TheDreaded: They are supposed to be heroes but are terrifying beings with each one possessing enough power to match a country's army.
* EvilHero: While there are a few in the Holy Knights who are heroic and there are those that see the group as a whole as such, many of its members are evil.
* {{Expy}}: The various armors worn by the Holy Knights make them look like the New Band of the Hawk from ''Manga/{{Berserk}}''. Fitting as the second generation of Holy Knights bolster their ranks by having potential members drink [[spoiler: Demon's blood]], an act that's basically a DealWithTheDevil which, while differing in method, is what the New Band of the Hawk also did. Incidentally, this act also makes them evil expies of the Grey Wardens from VideoGame/DragonAgeOrigins due to the method of how both join their respective orders.
* FamedInStory: The Holy Knights are considered knights among knights who protect Britannia.
* GovernmentConspiracy: Most people think that there is some ulterior motive going on with the Holy Knights with all their doings. They do, in order to prepare for an upcoming Holy War.
** There is also a conspiracy within the Holy Knights themselves. [[spoiler: The ranks of the second generation are being filled with individuals who have been empowered by demon blood. Not everyone in the Holy Knights is aware of this.]] Many of the higher-ups also outright lie to their subordinates and their allies about certain events.
** The biggest conspiracy they have is covering the fact that they've overthrown the rightful king of Liones. They kept this fact from anyone who isn't of their order. They've even gone as far as silence foreign messengers to keep the truth from leaking. In fact, not even visiting kings are safe from them.
* KnightTemplar: Apart from being actual knights, the Holy Knights are willing to overthrow their king, subjugate and kill innocent civilians, and other atrocities in order to prepare for a Holy War that was prophesied to come. [[spoiler: They're also willing to use a Demon to enhance their powers.]]
* LightIsNotGood: The Holy Knights are the equivalent of paladins, and many of them are incredibly cruel.
* MagicKnight: A significant number of the Holy Knights are capable of great physical strength and magic.
* OneManArmy: Each individual Holy Knight is considered the equal of a thousand men. When the northern barbarians invade with an army of three thousand men, two knights working together are able to wipe the army out with minimal effort. The new generation of Holy Knights is even stronger [[spoiler: if only because they use demon blood to boost their powers.]]
* TheOrder: The Holy Knights of Liones are an order of knights whose original purpose was solely to protect the kingdom not subjugate it.
* ThePaladin: The Holy Knights by their name and supposed duties to protect the people are supposed to be this. However due to their actions, they are paladins in name only.
* TookALevelInBadass: What happened to several Holy Knight apprentices and general subordinates who make up the second generation [[spoiler: due to drinking demon blood.]] This is noticed in-universe by the knights of the older generation.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: The Holy Knights might be forcing the people to fight in a war, but they are doing this to protect them....some of them, anyways. The Knights seem split into two camps: Dreyfus's faction seem to be this, but Hendricksen's is far more sinister.
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: Outside of Liones, nobody knows how cruel and horrible the Holy Knights truly is.

A large man who confronted Meliodas and Elizabeth but was defeated. He is actually not a proper Holy Knight but a subordinate with some authority and strength. Later, he was invited along with Jericho to officially join the Holy Knights. It didn't go well for him.

* EstablishingCharacterMoment: His first act of complete disregard for his surbordinates essentially establishes that he and his fellow Holy Knights are holy in name only.
* GiantMook: Technically what he is. He isn't even a StarterVillain as he wasn't that much of a threat to Meliodas.
* BackForTheDead: Returns after 20+ chapters, only to be killed [[spoiler: by drinking demon blood.]]
* KilledOffForReal: This pretty much happened to him based on the tropes above and below.
* PopGoesTheHuman: He explodes after [[spoiler: drinking demon blood.]]
* VerbalTic: He tends to express confirmation in his sentences after certain situations like a machine. Often his assessments and premature confirmations are wrong.

* UsedToBeASweetKid: In his chilhood he was a cheerful boy who wanted to be like the Seven Deadly Sins. Today he's a emotionless and cruel man who hates the Sins for killing his father.
* [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair You Gotta Have Pink Hair]]: His hair is a shade of light pink.
* YouKilledMyFather: He blames the Sins for supposedly killing his father.

The previous Great Holy Knight of Liones who was murdered ten years before the start of the series for which the Seven Deadly Sins were framed for it. * YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: Golgius backstabs Dr. Dana after the doctor poisons Meliodas in order to silence him. [[spoiler: The doctor fortunately got better.]]

A Holy Knight apprentice who was stationed at Baste Dungeon where she was humiliated by Ban when the latter escaped. She later became an official Holy Knight when she along with Twigo were offered the position by Hendricksen. She alone got promoted.

* {{Bifauxnen}}: A very masculine looking female. Ban even thought she was a male and still does.

* AnArmAndALeg: [[spoiler: Lost a hand from Meliodas in his wrath mode]]. She gets better thanks to special restoring orbs.
* BaitTheDog: When we see her off doing in a bonus chapter, she kindly takes care of her little brother, concerned over some new bruises. Maybe she's not that bad after all? And then she goes and murders the bullies while he's asleep.
* BerserkButton: Don't you ever hurt her little brother. Guila will leave you as a bloody mess.
* BigSisterInstinct: She'll do anything for her brother's happiness and safety. [[spoiler:Even take a stand against Holy Knights who greatly overshadow her in rank and power.]]

[[caption-width-right:225:[[labelnote:Click here to see his true form]][[/labelnote]]]]

A Holy Knight in golden armor who primarily uses magic. He is Hendricksen's [[TheDragon second-in-command]] and his rank is apparently Cardinal. He initially appears as an old man but apparently he has a past with King whom he calls "old friend".

* AllYourPowersCombined: Helbram's unique ability Link is capable of adding the strength and powers of all who stand before a special magical orb to his own. Although those who lend their powers can do so of their own free will, Helbram however can forcefully make them lend their powers to him via the technique Blind Follow.
* AxCrazy: When it comes to humans, Helbram is extremely unhinged. [[spoiler: It's because of the horrific backstory of seeing his friends tortured and murdered that made him become a serial killer of humans.]]
* BadassGrandpa: In his human form, Helbram is easily the strongest Holy Knight seen, barring the two Great Holy Knights. He went toe to toe with King and even with the demonic Meliodas.
* BadBoss: Helbram treats his subordinates rather badly. This includes cases such as making Guila [[spoiler: unknowingly blow up what remains of her father]] and transferring damage via his power Link so that his so called allies are the ones hurt instead of him. Considering his subordinates are human, it kinda makes sense given his past.
* BerserkerTears: He weeps when [[spoiler: screaming hysterically how he'll kill every human in King's past chapter.]]
* {{Bishonen}}: [[spoiler: His fairy form.]]
* CloudCuckooLander: Helbram is a mite spacy when he's not focusing.
* CompellingVoice: Helbram's technique Blind Follow is a power in which he can hypnotize his allies via Link to blindly follow his commands and give their strengths to him regardless of their own opinions.
* CoolHelmet: Helbram originally wore a golden demonic looking face covering helmet that has axehead-like horns. It can be best described as looking like a helmet designed after a hammerhead shark's head in shape.

* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: He is actually way older than he looks in any form as he is actually [[spoiler: a fairy.]]
* ShapeShifter: He has the ability to shape shift between forms. His first appearance is a small imp like creature before he turns into a powerful old man.

* {{Telekinesis}}: In his true form, he is able to magically lift things in mid-air like King.
* TinTyrant: Has shades of this when in full armor.
* TouchOfDeath: One the abilities he uses called "Call of Inferno" is a "Death" power. It is a black fog that will slowly choke anyone in Helbram's vicinity regardless of who they are. It fortunately only lasts as long as Helbram is not harmed in the midst of casting it.
* TragicKeepsake: Helbram's helmet that he wears as an imp is actually a keepsake to remind him of what his curiosity got him and his friends into. [[spoiler: It was actually supposed to be a present Helbram intended to give to King.]] His human form is also a keepsake as he uses it to remind himself of his hatred of humanity [[spoiler: as it's the form of the man who killed his beloved friends and made Helbram into the twisted, cruel shell of himself he is now.]]
* TragicVillain: [[spoiler: Helbram was once a kind fairy who was fascinated by humans until he saw his beloved friends tortured and slaughtered, leaving him as a hateful shell of himself. His hatred for humans had swelled for years up to a point wherein he can no longer bring himself to stop killing humans despite his own desire to do so.]]
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: [[spoiler: During Byzel's annual fighting festival, he disguised himself as the festival's diminutive announcer, Helm. Apart from a few stares, nobody there questions long enough why an imp-like creature is the festival's announcer.]]
* WeHaveReserves: Helbram has this outlook with his subordinates as shown when he unhesitatingly transferred damage he received to his allies giving him strength via Link. His response to some of them being apparently killed is that there would always be replacements.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: He and King were once best friends. [[spoiler: Until Helbram went insane and sought to kill humans...forcing King to fulfill a vow to stop him with lethal force he had once made to a younger, kinder Helbram.]]
* WillfullyWeak: In his human form, he has to rely on the abilities of others. In his true form however, he is actually as strong as a Great Holy Knight.

A huge hulking man who is charged with protecting Princess Veronica. He is the son of Dreyfus.

* BarrierWarrior: Griamor's power Wall allows him to create a force field around him.
* BeautifulAllAlong: A subtle Male example. When he is first introduced, he wears a face concealing helmet and his hulking muscles and size would suggest at least a [[FaceofaThug Face of a Thug]]. Several chapters later, he is seen without his helmet and it's shown that he has a decent looking face. Though it's relatively small on his disproportionately musclebound body.
* BodyguardCrush: It is implied toward Veronica.

* ChildhoodFriends: A childhood friend of Elizabeth and Veronica's.

* HugeGuyTinyGirl: He is practically enormous when compared to Veronica or any other regular sized person for that matter.
* LadyAndKnight: The knight to Veronica's lady.
* UndyingLoyalty: Griamor so far is shown to be the most loyal person you could ever have in this series.

A Great Holy Knight and co-leader of the Holy Knights of Liones with Hendricksen. Among the two Great Holy Knights, Dreyfus is the more honorable of the two. He genuinely wants to protect the kingdom of Liones from the foretold Holy War. However, he is willing to do so [[WellIntentionedExtremist even at the cost of the people he is trying to protect]]. He is also a very ambitious man who is willing to go to any lengths regardless who or what stands in his way. Despite this, he genuinely loves his son Griamor. He is also Zaratras' brother and Gilthunder's uncle.

In regards to the prophesied Holy War, Dreyfus regards the Sins to be the most likely candidates for whom the Holy Knights will fight against. In particular, he considers Meliodas to be the most threatening due to the latter's past.

* AmbitionIsEvil: Dreyfus' strong sense of ambition has lead to do some terrible things such as [[spoiler: murdering his own brother to get the position of Great Holy Knight.]]
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: To nobody's shock, Dreyfus is every bit as powerful as his rank implies. As one of two Great Holy Knights, he shows his stuff when he subjects [[spoiler: Diane]] to a CurbStompBattle.
* {{Badass}}: Easily the most badass Holy Knights so far.
* BigBadDuumvirate: With Hendricksen, as the two leaders of the Holy Knights of Liones.
* CainAndAbel: [[spoiler: The Cain to his brother Zaratras' Abel, for whom he killed to get the position of Great Holy Knight.]]
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Though the degree of which he is a straightforward villain is debatable, he nonetheless loves his son.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: [[spoiler: He plotted to kill his brother but he considers Hendricksen's plan to revive the Demon Clan insane.]]
* EvilUncle: [[spoiler: He has a good relationship with his nephew Gilthunder but he killed his father.]]
* GreenEyedMonster: [[spoiler: The reason Dreyfus killed his brother was because he was deeply jealous at how strong and amazing Zaratras was and that he was AlwaysSecondBest compared to the latter.]]
* ImplacableMan: In accordance to his personality and powers, he just shrugs off practically every attack against him and keeps moving.
* KlingonPromotion: [[spoiler: He killed Zaratras to gain the position of Great Holy Knight.]]
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Gowther's "Nightmare Teller" reveals [[spoiler:Dreyfus has been suppressing a lot of guilt and sorrow over betraying his brother.]]
* NoSell: [[spoiler: The CombinationAttack of Hauser and Guila didn't affect him at all.]]
* PapaWolf: He went ballistic when he found out who murdered his son.
* PersonalityPowers: The general theme of his powers seem to reflect his unfettering personality. He uses blasts that blow everything before him and techniques that refuse to succumb to the might of others.
* ShouldersOfDoom / SpikesOfVillainy: Has prominent spikes on his shoulder pauldrons.
* ThisIsUnforgivable: To Hendricksen when he found out that he killed his son, Griamor.
* TheUnfettered: His personality is that he is willing to crush anything or anyone within his path to whatever goal he has without so much as a waver or hesitation. [[spoiler:Gowther's "Nightmare Teller" mercilessly tears his resolve apart by confronting him with his own repressed guilt over the murder of his brother.]]
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: As nasty as he can be, Dreyfus is seen as a great hero by the citizenry as a whole.
* VillainousBreakdown: In chapter 70, [[spoiler:Gowther uses "Nightmare Teller" to trap Dreyfus in a nightmare. When Dreyfus is confronted by the impaled bloody corpse of his brother, [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone he falls to his knees sobbing and begging for forgiveness]].]]
* WellDoneDadGuy: [[spoiler: As revealed in his nightmare caused by Gowther, part of Dreyfus' reason for wanting to surpass his brother was apparently so that his very own son would look up to him instead of his more powerful uncle.]]
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Dreyfus seems to actually believe in what they're doing.

A Great Holy Knight who works alongside with Dreyfus over the Holy Knights of Liones. Unlike Dreyfus, Hendricksen is the less honorable. He strongly believes that their order solely exists for war and if they there is only peace, their existence is meaningless. For that, he greatly opposed the King of Liones' plans to completely avoid the foretold Holy War. In fact, he is actually manipulating several things behind the scenes in order for the war to be actually brought about.

Under his command is a large number of second generation Holy Knights.

* BeardOfEvil: Small pointed one on his chin.
* BigBadDuumvirate: With Dreyfus, although Hendricksen is far more sinister
* TheChessmaster: For his beliefs, he has been manipulating alot of events in preparation for what he believes the Holy War would be with.
* ColonelKilgore: He genuinely believes that he and the rest of the Holy Knights exist solely for the purpose for war. He believes this so much that he does everything in his power to prepare for the Holy War [[spoiler: even going as far as revive the Demon Clan so that the knights have an actual opponent.]]
* HannibalLecture: When Dreyfus calls him out for [[spoiler: plotting to revive the Demon Clan]] since it's something Holy Knights shouldn't do, Hendricksen calls the former a hypocrite since Dreyfus [[spoiler: plotted to assassinate his brother Zaratras to get his position]]
* HellishPupils: Has vertical slits for pupils.
* HiddenAgendaVillain: He wants to [[spoiler: revive the Demon Clan.]]
* LackOfEmpathy: He shows little to no empathy with others as he manipulates them for his own purposes.
* ManipulativeBastard: He outright manipulates people for his own goals.
* MurderIsTheBestSolution: Hendricksen opts to outright attempt to murder Arthur Pendragon just to free his own attention up.
* NoPlaceForMeThere: [[spoiler:Dreyfus' "Nightmare Teller" induced dream in chapter 70]] implies that this is another reason Hendricksen wants the Holy War to happen [[spoiler:to the point of deposing the King who wanted to avoid it and reviving an enemy for the Holy Knights to fight]]. He believes the Holy Knights would have no place in a land of peace.
* ObviouslyEvil: You mean the creepiest looking Holy Knight with weird eyes and the diabolical little chin beard is evil? You don't say.
* WeHaveBecomeComplacent: Seems to believe that war is what keeps a civilization sharp.
** WarForFunAndProfit: As a result, he's trying to [[spoiler: revive the Demon Clan]] so that the Holy Knights can go to war against them.

Hauser is a rather hotblooded Holy Knight who is a colleague and partner of Gilthunder. His rank within the Holy Knight order is Platinum.

* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: For his strength, he was given the rank of Platinum which while lower than Diamond, is still rather impressive.
* {{Badass}}: So much so that only he and Gilthunder were sent to deal with a Barbarian Invasion.
* BlowYouAway: His main power.
* BoisterousBruiser: Hauser is often very boisterous especially when it comes to fighting.
* CannotKeepASecret: Veronica points out that Hauser can't keep a secret.
* CombinationAttack: Has performed one each with Gilthunder and Guila. The one with Gilthunder called "Dragon Castle" is a massive electrified tornado. The one with Guila called "Bomb Cyclone" is a thinner but more concentrated tornado with constant explosions engulfed within it.
* DefectorFromDecadence / HonorBeforeReason: [[spoiler: After one too many dishonorable acts from his fellow knights and too many honorable ones from the Sins, he decides that he has had enough and that the most honorable thing to do is protect Diane from his so called fellow knights.]]
* DistractedByTheSexy: Hauser prefers not to fight female opponents when they might be revealing more cleavage than necessary.
* DoubleEntendre: While Hauser didn't intentionally mean it in his fight with Diane, a lot of his battle banter can be interpreted as DoubleEntendre.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: After finding out how horrible the Holy Knights truly are, Hauser together with Guila decide to save Diane from the Holy Knights.]]
* HeelRealization: After witnessing several dishonorable actions from his fellow knights, he comes to realize that they're not the heros they claim to be.
* JoustingLance: Hauser's weapon is a lance with a drill-like design.
* PunchClockVillain: Calling him a villain is a stretch. Hauser's a pretty swell fellow and genuinely believes in protecting the innocent.
* RedOniBlueOni: Red to Gilthunder's Blue.
* SpiritedCompetitor: Hauser enjoys fighting and seeing people fight. However, he only exerts his full strength if his opponent is worthy enough.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Probably the only one in his order who is genuinely good.

* VictoryPose: Hauser performs this during Byzel.
* WorthyOpponent: How he sees Diane.
* WouldntHitAGirl: Hauser isn't willing to go all out on any girl unless they can fight well against him.

* MusicalAssassin: He uses maracas to use his ability.

!! Dale

Dale was Guila and Zeal's ever doting father. He was a Holy Knight who back when the Seven Deady Sins weren't framed as murderers, wanted to be like them and become something his daughter would be proud of. He seemingly ran away and abandoned his children.

* ChekhovMIA: Originally mentioned as missing, he later shows up [[spoiler: as the Armored Giant. See it's entry for more details.]]
* DirtyCoward: Has a reputation as this since he seemingly abandoned his children and Holy Knight duties. [[spoiler: In reality, it was because he was mutated into the Armored Giant. See more on its entry.]]
* DisappearedDad: He mysteriously disappeared, leaving his children Guila and Zeal on their own.
* DotingParent: Dale's most defining characteristic was him caring for his children. His nickname was even "Doting Dale" due to his love for them.
* GoodParents
* NiceGuy: According to the Sins, he was this.

[[folder:Dawn Roar]]

!!Dawn Roar

Dawn Roar is an order of knights created by the king of Liones after the Seven Deadly Sins ran away for being framed for murder. They are basically the replacements for Sins. Like their predecessors originally were before, they are a faction that supposedly directly serves the king, completely independent from the Holy Knights. Despite this though, Dawn Roar has a nasty reputation for being a group that focuses primarily their targets.

[[folder: Tropes pertaining to Dawn Roar in general ]]

* BadassCrew: As the Seven Deadly Sins' replacements, they were required to be this.
* ExactWords: When Dawn Roar were dispatched to Ordan, they were ordered to take the head of the Armor Giant. To comply with that order and prevent a MeleeATrois, Gowther decapitated the Armor Giant's head and gave it to them. Since their orders were to only take the Armor Giant's head and not engage in full combat with the Sins, they left the Sins and the still standing Armor Giant alone.
* EvilCounterpart: They are not evil for say, but they are the darker verison of the Seven Deadly Sins.
* MexicanStandoff: Had a extremely long and epic one with the Armored Giant.
* TheOrder: Dawn Roar is an order of knights made by the King of Liones to replace the Seven Deadly Sins after their supposed crime.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: When presented to what is the literal fulfillment of their orders of taking the Armor Giant's head, Dawn Roar leaves the Sins and a still standing Armor Giant alone.

Threader is the captain of Dawn Roar. He is a knight that looks more like a horror movie slasher due to his MalevolentMaskedMan and tattered shirt look.

* AmbiguouslyGay: [[ In an easy to miss scene]] during a confrontation between Gowther and some other Holy Knights, Threader is seen passionately holding onto another man. After beating one of the knights who apparently knocked away his companion, Threader dons his mask while yelling "Makeup" in an apparent ''SailorMoon'' ShoutOut, and proceeds to whoop the remaining knights for, in his own words, ruining his "precious day off". Given his typical apparel and the way he sometimes talks as symbolized by a heart at the end of his sentences, take what you will.
** Furthering the implication is Threader's cameo appearance in the second HighSchoolAU side comic that advertises Uno Fog Bar. He is alongside the girls who swoon over the guys who use the hairspray to make themselves attractive.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: Gets hit by one from Gowther that makes him question whether or not he's really acting on the orders of the king of Liones and even if the king is really sick.
-->'''Gowther:''' Is that what the king said? Did he tell you all this while you were at his bedside?
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: Threader learned the fighting style of his barbarian captors just by observing them.
* BareYourMidriff: Threader's tattered but tight shirt leaves his abs exposed.
* {{BFS}} / SerratedBladeOfPain: Threader carries a large sword that resembles a Japanese saw called a ryoba.
* BeautifulAllAlong: He looks rather sinister with his mask on but when we see him without it, he is actually quite handsome.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Because the king of Liones rescued him from his barbarian captors, gave him a name, and a future, Threader swore his complete loyalty to him.
* TheCoatsAreOff: Before beating two other Holy Knights who also ruined his "precious day off", he first takes off the coat he was wearing in addition to putting on his mask.
* HockeyMaskAndChainsaw: With his mask and saw-like sword, Threader looks like a medieval fantasy version of this trope.
* KillingIntent: Threader is capable of intimidating opponents into complete submission via his ability called "Overpower" which he learned from his experiences with his former childhood captors.
* MadeASlave: As far as he could remember, Threader had been kidnapped by barbarians at a young age and was treated by them more like a nameless dog than a human being.
* MalevolentMaskedMan: Threader with his human face metal mask.
* RaisedByOrcs: When he was young, Threader was kidnapped and raised as a slave by some barbarians who were more than willing to kill him if he ever stepped out of line.
* UndyingLoyalty: Threader towards the King of Liones for saving him from his barbarian captors and for giving him a name. He is shaken when Gowther's question in chapter 69 makes him realize that he might not actually be following the King's wishes by fighting the Sins.
* VerbalTic: Sometimes in the heat of battle with a foe he finds worthy, Threader talks in a rather delighted yet creepy manner, as symbolized by a heart at the end of his sentences.
* WhatTheHellAreYou: Threader to Gowther in chapter 69 after finding out that the latter [[spoiler: survived his neck being snapped.]]
* WorthyOpponent: Threader considers the Seven Deadly Sins to be this to Dawn Roar.

Simon is a member of Dawn Roar who is apparently the youngest looking of the group. He wears armor that includes spaulders that resemble the sode of typical samurai armor.

* {{BFS}}: Simon carries a blade that looks like a nodachi.
* EverythingsBetterWithSamurai: He's pretty much a {{samurai}} themed knight in an otherwise King Arthur based manga.
* HonorBeforeReason: Simon was the only one in the group who disliked getting the Armor Giant's head via Gowther's help.
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: He has rather prominent long hair that makes almost look like a girl.
* OnlySaneMan: Was the only one who was surprised to find out Meliodas, the captain of Seven Deadly Sins, is actually the small young boy-like character they meet among the group.

Hugo is a member of Dawn Roar. Among them, he is the only one who wears a full set of armor in battle.

* AnArmAndALeg: When hit with King's TakenForGranite spear, Hugo immediately requested Simon to cut off his slowly petrifying arm so that he won't be paralyzed.
* DualWielding: He wields two axe-like weapons that can be best described as [[DeadlyDisc chakrams]] [[XOnAStick on sticks]].

Jillian is a member of Dawn Roar and the only female in the group.

* ActionGirl
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Jillian is the only female Dawn Roar member.

Weinheidt is a member of Dawn Roar who is so far primarily an archer.

* ArcherArchetype: Weinheidt is one with the addition that he is capable of firing arrows that when charged enough and fired, look like a KamehameHadoken in appearance.
* MasterOfIllusion: Weinheidt is apparently capable of this.

[[folder:Kingdom of Liones]]

!!King Liones

The former king of the kingdom of Liones, currently held captive by the Holy Knights after the their coup d'état. His current status is unknown, but has been confirmed to be alive.

* CoolHelmet: He wore one in Threader's flashback.
* TheGoodKing: Liones cared so much for his people's safety that he refused to make his Holy Knights be a part of the Holy War.
* PapaWolf: Despite being not blood related, Liones was shown to care greatly for his daughter Elizabeth, even climbing up a tree (which he had never done before) to save his daughter.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: He went along his knights in a battle against the barbarians.
* {{Seers}}: The king has a power called "Vision" that allows him to see the future. Through it, he hoped to avoid the Holy War foretold in the prophecies.

!!Veronica Liones

Veronica is the second princess of the kingdom of Liones. Though the Holy Knights overthrew her father, she decided to instead ally with them in order to prepare the kingdom for the foretold war.

* AntagonisticOffspring: She decided to ally with the Holy Knights against her father.
* BadassPrincess
* BoyishShortHair
* {{Expy}}: Veronica has a resemblance to Hinoki Kasuga from ''Manga/TheWorldGodOnlyKnows''.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: She saves Elizabeth from one of Guila's land mines but ends up dying from her wounds.]]
* InspectorJavert: Due to whoever framed the Sins as well as various rumors, Elizabeth's sister, Veronica, steadfastly believes the Sins are manipulating Elizabeth for something. From what we've seen of the Sins' pasts however, it's obvious she's not getting the full story.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Veronica died when she shielded Elizabeth from Guila's attack]].
* LadyAndKnight: The lady to Griamor's knight.
* OneOfTheBoys: She used to play sword fights with the boys which her father disliked.
* PrincessesPreferPink: Her standard attire is a predominately pink jacket, which she temporarily gave to Elizabeth [[spoiler: after she returned to her original height completely naked.]]
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Rather than sit idly by for the prophesied war to come like a more lady-like princess, she decided to take action. That action unfortunately was siding with the Holy Knights who overthrew her father.
* SiblingYinYang: Veronica is a tomboy who sided with the Holy Knights while Margaret is known to be a gentle lady who sided with her father.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: {{Tomboy}} to Elizabeth's GirlyGirl.
* TomboyPrincess
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: She's very tomboyish, but wears pink clothes.
* [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair You Gotta Have Violet Hair]]: As revealed in a short HighschoolAU sidestory, she has violet hair.

* BigSisterWorship: Toward his sister, Guila.
* MoralityPet: To Guila.

[[folder:Holy Knights of Danafor]]

An apparently separate group of Holy Knights different than the ones originating from Liones.

See his entry in the Seven Deadly Sins.

!!Cain Barzad

Cain is an elderly man who was first introduced in Byzel's annual fighting festival as the one who led the Seven Deadly Sins to it and as a contestant. While he doesn't look like it, he is actually a former Holy Knight of Danafor.

* BadassGrandpa: He might seem like a weak old man with a bad back but he's actually very strong.
* DrunkenMaster: When he is first introduced, Cain is presented as a drunk. Despite this, he is rather skilled.
* ForgottenFriendNewFoe: When Cain realizes that the person he assumed was Meliodas' son with StrongFamilyResemblance was actually Meliodas himself, he presented himself as this trope. In reality though, Meliodas couldn't remember him because Cain always wore full body armor and always went by his RedBaron moniker in the past. The two also fortunately make up in the end.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: He went by "The Flame Barzad" so much in the past that Meliodas never actually knew him other than that prior to their reunion.
* PlayingWithFire: Cain's main power.
* RedBaron: In the past, he called himself "The Flame Barzad" in association to his fire abilities.
* TwentyFourHourArmor: He wore his full body armor so much in the past that Meliodas had actually never seen him out of it prior to their reunion.

* TheLostLenore: For Meliodas.
* MadeASlave: Liz was sold as a slave to an enemy kingdom of Danafor before being freed by Meliodas
* OneSteveLimit: Averted due to Liz's full given name is Elizabeth, same as Princess Elizabeth Liones.

!! Armored Giant

A gigantic heavily mutated Holy Knight that was found inhabiting Gowther's armor in Ordan Forest.

* BodyHorror: Its mutations can be best described as something out of ''Manga/{{Akira}}''.
** MultiArmedAndDangerous: Originally started out as a two armed abomination whose fingers were arms complete with their own fingers. Later, its two main arms split into four smaller ones, thus becoming a four armed monster.
** MultipleHeadCase: Apart from its normal looking human head, it had several. One that was chopped off and given to Dawn Roar, and four that grew out of his main monstrous body. These later merged together to form a single multi-faced head.
* MexicanStandoff: Had a extremely long and epic one with Dawn Roar.

His intention is apparently to visit the king of Liones, not knowing that the kingdom had been ursurped by its Holy Knights.

* AChildShallLeadThem: Like his namesake, he became king at a very young age after he pulled the sword out of the stone. He is visibly one of the younger characters of the series.

* ChekhovsGunman: He was mentioned as early as Chapter 3 of the manga as very easy to miss [[InfallibleBabble gossip]] among the drinking patrons of the Boar Hat. 59 chapters later, he comes to Lyonesse in full force.
* CoolHelmet: He wears a vaguely demonic looking helmet.
* CoolSword: He apparently possesses two swords, each with a different intricately designed hilts. One that he pulled out of the stone, and one with crosses that act as the ends of its cross guard and its pommel.
* DidntSeeThatComing: The Holy Knights and the Sins were so busy with their own affairs that they didn't see Arthur and his entire army coming.
* KingArthur: ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin.

The son of the leader of the village of Ordan. He takes care of Gowther in the years that the Sins separated after finding the latter heavily wounded.

* BrattyHalfPint: Pelio tends to act like one, but he is a good person at heart as he saved Gowther when he was injured.
