[[folder:Magellan Cadets: Class of 2015]]

The main group of cadets the story is focusing on, they're introduced in 2009, their first year of training.

[[WMG:Kaycee Jones]]
The main protagonist, Kaycee is a normal girl from Australia with a troubled past who wants to be a superhero for personal reasons, despite having no powers herself.

* AndIMustScream: Is forced to endure about ten minutes of a "psychic horror" version of this in order to be in position to stop [=DragonKlaw=].
* BadassNormal: What she is trying to become, possibly the first one to try since the very first generation of superheroes.
* BrokenPedestal: Briefly sees Go!Anna as this, due to her {{Jerkass}} attempt at dissuading Kaycee from becoming a hero. The two patch it up later after Kaycee proves what she's really capable of.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: Her fighting prowess is severely underestimated by those around her. She beats herself up for not being able to jump four meters (13 feet), a hard task for any normal human being.
* DeathByOriginStory: A big part of what drove her to super heroics is her older sister getting killed by the mass murderer that abducted both of them. (The other part is being saved from this by Go!Anna.)
* {{Determinator}}: She will not give up, despite everything that she goes through.
* DudeMagnet: Brelvis and at least ''three'' cadets in her class (Billy, [[spoiler: Rochelle]], and an as of yet unrevealed third one) have a crush on her.
* FutureMeScaresMe: The knowledge that [[spoiler: her future self, Maverick, became a vigilante hero]] unsettles her deeply.
* GlorySeeker: She's not actually this, but quite a few other cadets see her this way.
* IndyPloy: Her mastery of this under pressure, coupled with her {{Determinator}} nature, is why she is somehow more successful than both her fellow cadets and established super heroes, despite her lack of powers.
* ObliviousToLove:
** She never caught on that her friend Brian had a crush on her. Even after he all but spells it out as Brelvis, she doesn't quite catch on.
** When Charisma reveals that there's three different cadets in their class who have a crush on her, she's quite surprised for someone usually on the ball about things.
* PastExperienceNightmare: About her kidnapping. She gets over them eventually, with some psychic help.
* SherlockScan: Kaycee is able to grasp what's going on in a situation and react accordingly much more quickly than other cadets and even superheroes. She's able to tell there's a threat coming from a vent just from a few grains of sand falling out of it.
* ShoutOut: Her name, as well as being a BadassNormal, is almost certainly a reference to [[ComicBook/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles Casey Jones]].

[[WMG:Fatima Hussein]]

Despite the Arabic-sounding name, Fatima is actually a Cecaelia[[note]]a half-octopus-like merperson[[/note]], and is one of Kaycee's closest friends at Magellan.

* BizarreAlienBiology: Her upper half is humanoid with gills and pointed ears, and her lower half is mainly octopus-like tentacles, complete with ink squirting action.
* CombatTentacles: A big part of her fighting style.
* FishOutOfWater: Ignoring the pun potential, she qualifies. In fact, she (along with several other cadets) attends a special seminar just to become used to Earth.
* GoodWithNumbers: Knows math well enough to quickly solve calculus problems.
* InnocentFanserviceGirl: Has no knowledge of sexual norms on Earth.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Her and Nadine become casualties of the Rarg invasion in the original timeline.]]
* NakedOnArrival: In her introduction, she's topless, with only the strategic rim of her fishbowl-like tank there to prevent the audience from seeing everything.
* NewPowersAsThePlotDemands: She already had tentacles that give her an iron grip, help her to move faster than a normal human being, and could shoot out ink, plus one-way telepathy that works underwater. Then it was revealed during a fight that the spurs on her arms had venom that could paralyze a human being.
* [[spoiler:NobleFugitive: She was sent to Earth to keep her safe from political enemies of her family back home.]]
* [[spoiler:OrphansOrdeal: Her worst fears during the Lock(e)down arc show her mother and father were killed right in front of her by the queen.]] Directly {{Lampshaded}} by the author in the notes section below the comic.
* YouNoTakeCandle: Broken English is her calling card.

[[WMG:Charisma Epoch]]
The daughter of famed super hero Epoch, Charisma is an AlphaBitch with some serious daddy issues.

* AlphaBitch: While she does have some very good reasons, it doesn't exactly make anyone like her.
* ButtMonkey: She frequently loses out in various humiliating ways.
* DaddyDidntShow: Happens quite often (due to Epoch being off on missions), which really discourages her.
* DaddysGirl: Pretty much her defining character trait.
* FlyingBrick: Just like Epoch, this is basically her main superpower.
* FreudianExcuse: During ''Lock(e)down'', it's revealed that her mother, Evangaline, was a LoonyFan of Epoch who [[spoiler: stole his sperm so she could have his daughter. From a small flashback, it appears she was more concerned about Charisma being a little trophy than as a child. Eventually, she had a mental breakdown and ended up in an insane asylum, at which point Epoch finally found out he had a daughter.]] No wonder the poor girl has so many issues that can be exploited.
* HalfHumanHybrid: Her powers aren't as strong as her father's due to her age and the fact her mother was a normal human being.
* HeroicBSOD: Has one after learning that she [[spoiler: died in the alternate timeline.]] Luckily, someone slaps her out of it.
* IronicName: The definition of charisma is a trait that allows a person to charm others, something that Charisma is lacking in spades.
* MissingMom: Her mother is never talked about. She's finally introduced via flashback in ''Lock(e)down''.
* LegacySuperhero: She's the latest member of her family to train as a superheroine. Her father is a superhero, and as it turns out, her [[spoiler: paternal grandparents were both superheroes as well.]]
* SpoiledBrat: Her other defining character trait.
* TookALevelInKindness:
** [[spoiler: After Vostok melds all the cadets' minds together, she finally develops a proper sense of empathy.]]
** [[spoiler: She takes another level during the first version of the Rarg invasion, particularly from appreciating Kaycee saving her life. She's also overjoyed to see her father alive after the time reset, and is much more cooperative in the rescue effort than in previous missions.]]
* WellDoneDaughterGirl: Her main desire is proving herself every bit as good as her father.
* WhenSheSmiles: On the rare occasion she isn't acting like a total bitch, Charisma is shown to be quite pretty.

[[WMG:Maya Applecross]]
An initially chubby young woman from America with power over illusions (called "mind mojo" in the story), Maya is a bit of a {{Jerkass}}.

* AndIMustScream: She can do this to people. So far, she's only done it once in the comic.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: She was arrested for theft in the past by Magellan USA. The Magellan Council only agreed to let her become a cadet so they could keep an eye on her dangerous powers.
* FutureMeScaresMe: Learning that she became a villain in the alternate timeline makes her question herself.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She's emotionally cold and not above manipulating people with her mind mojo, but when the chips are down, she's just as heroic as anyone.
* MasterOfIllusion: Her power is psychically-based illusions, so powerful that they affect sound and touch as well. (They apparently don't work against Brelvis's sense of smell, though.)
* MeaningfulName: [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_%28illusion%29 "Maya"]] is a Hinduist/Buddhist concept describing perceived reality as we know it as an illusion.
* MisplacedRetribution: Ever since the events of "Bad Karma," she has blamed Kaycee for [[spoiler:Chang's death.]]
* StartOfDarkness: [[spoiler: Chang's death]] seems to have started her down the same path that [[spoiler: Miasma went down.]]

[[WMG: Nadine Turner]]

A Kiwi [[SuperSpeed speedster]], Nadine is another of Kaycee's close friends.

* DemotedToExtra: Though initially shown quite a bit through the first few arcs, she's taken a backseat as other cadets are brought to the forefront for characterization. Finally brought back into the spotlight with the side story ''Legacy.''
* DreadlockWarrior: Has a nice set of dreads by her third year, just like [[spoiler: her alternate future self Speedlines.]]
* GenkiGirl: Seems to love just about everyone and talks five miles a minute.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Definitely one of the nicest cadets.
* InSpiteOfANail: Despite all the changes to the timeline, she's still recruited to join the Fast Club like her [[spoiler: future self.]]
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Her and Fatima are among the casualties of the Rarg invasion.]]
* MassiveNumberedSiblings: She's the oldest of five girls, making her the cadet with the most known number of siblings.
* NotTheFallThatKillsYou: She has what's called a "personal inertial dampening field" that the cadets with super-speed like her are trained to expand so that anyone they try to help when going fast won't get hurt, otherwise they'll harm more than they help. By her third year, she's capable of doing this when not all the other fast cadets at the academy can.
* PetitePride: She's very thankful that she has such a flat chest when she has to [[spoiler: run naked to join The Fast Club.]]
* RequiredSecondaryPowers: Her reflexes are tuned slightly faster than a normal human being, allowing her to make split-second changes when she's running so that she doesn't run into anything and turn her body into Jello.
* TookALevelInBadass: By her third year, she's so fast that she can take down a pair of Character Assassins with punches and kicks in just a few seconds.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: She's terrified of being slow.

[[WMG: Billy Banks]]

A FlyingBrick-type cadet whose powers developed during puberty, he has a lot of self-esteem issues. One of the many revolves around his inability to get intimate with those he cares about, including Kaycee.

* FlyingBrick: His power set.
* NiceGuy: This is his basic personality.
* LegacyCharacter: In one future, he becomes [[spoiler: Victory Man II.]]
* ManOfSteelWomanOfKleenex: One of his self esteem issues is that he can't really get intimate with anyone, which is why he has a one-night stand with Charisma, who has a similar power-set that keeps her from being snapped like a twig during sex. Charisma even teases him about his crush on Kaycee, [[JerkassHasAPoint pointing out]] that a relationship between them isn't realistic.
* PowerIncontinence: Since his power developed during puberty instead of being born with them, he's still getting used to his super strength. He manages to smash a desk during a heated exercise with his other cadets. WordOfGod states that some items at the school are specifically reinforced so that he doesn't have to use kid gloves on the entire world all the time.
* PrematurelyBald: After meeting his [[spoiler: alternate self Victory Man II]], [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes his greatest fear]] is losing his hair early. It's eventually revealed in Lock(e)down that his fixation with his hair is really just the beginning of deep-seated issues regarding his self esteem.
* TooInjuredToSave: [[spoiler: In the original timeline of the Rarg attack, after losing his invulnerability he dies from traumatic injuries.]]

[[WMG: Sioni Ortanga]]

A light-hearted cadet with powers over controlling mass, he enjoys playing pranks and making other cadets laugh.

* AttentionWhore: He's determined to have the spotlight on him at any cost. Being ignored is shown to be his deepest fear.
* GravityMaster: He can both makes objects heavier and lighter with his powers, with the latter shown being easier than the former.
* IBelieveICanFly: He can hover through reducing his mass and move faster through low-powered "moon walk."
* LetsGetDangerous: When he had to help take down a dragon when Magellan was under attack, all the joking was put aside.
* NakedPeopleAreFunny: Ends up naked on the astral plane after trying too hard to control what he looked like.
* ShooOutTheClowns: Subverted. Despite being one of the most lighthearted characters, he survives the grim situation of the Rarg attack [[spoiler: in the original timeline almost until the very end when Sista Superior finally kills him.]]
* YinYangBomb: Not his power set by himself. But when he and Louis combined their powers during a training exercise, he was able to lighten Louis' mass to the point where he could make extreme jumps that would otherwise not have been possible.

[[WMG: Montana-Rose Touchwood]]

A Southern girl who is from a family of witches. Her guilt in her part of [[spoiler: Chang's death]] has had some serious consequences.

* CowardlyLion: She's not, but sees herself as such since she wasn't able to stop the Evil Weevil from killing her aunt. Keep in mind she was only a ''child'' at the time, and there was nothing she could have done.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Not herself personally, but [[spoiler: the part of [=DragonKlaw's=] spirit that hitched along a ride inside her body after she tried to revive Chang has used her to cause serious mental damage to everyone during the Lock(e)down arc.]]
* HairstyleInertia: Lampshaded by present-day characters who note a [[spoiler: decades-older future version]] of her has the exact same hairstyle as her present counterpart. She reveals she changes her hairstyle weekly and any similarities are just coincidental.
* HeroicLineage: Her aunt was also a superheroine and witch before she was killed by the Evil Weevil.
* MagicAIsMagicA: Her brand of magic is shown to need specific words and incantations, lest a mishap happen. Saying "Take me to the top of the tower" was supposed to take her to the top of a training tower....instead she ends up on top of the building.
* MyGreatestFailure: She thinks she and the other witches let [[spoiler:Chang]] die.
* SignificantGreenEyedRedhead: As of the latest arc, she's become more than just a bit player.
%%* SouthernBelle: She shows shades of being one.

[[WMG: Chang Chong]]

A wizard cadet from Hong Kong, he's shown to have a romantic interest in Maya. [[spoiler: When his alternate self [=DragonKlaw=] shows up, he drains his lifeforce dry, though Chang manages to revive long enough to stop [=DragonKlaw=] and seal them both in an alternate dimensional portal. It's unclear if his spirit is alive or dead at this point.]]

* AlliterativeName: His name both starts with the letter C and almost rhymes.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: [[spoiler: He gets drained of his life-force by his older self until he's nothing but a withered husk, a process that is very painful.]]
* CurbStompBattle: Though he does try to fight back, [[spoiler: [=DragonKlaw=] is much too powerful for him to even contend with.]]
* [[spoiler:HeroicSacrifice: Despite being technically dead, he's able to keep the portal [=DragonKlaw=] was trying to open from collapsing and destroying Magellan.]]
* [[spoiler: EvilMeScaresMe: Seeing his older villainous self shakes him to his core.]]
* [[spoiler: FutureMeScaresMe: In the few minutes he experiences with older, alternate future self before dying, Chang expresses disgust and distaste, proclaiming he'll never be like him.]]
* NotQuiteDead: [[spoiler: His older self bleeds onto his body that's been drained of life-force. Since they're technically the same person, this revives Chang long enough to allow him to shove he and [=DragonKlaw=] into the portal.]]
* SmallRoleBigImpact: Merely being in the story and then [[spoiler:dying]] has lasting consequences for years later in the overall plot.
* WalkingSpoiler: As shown by the fact half this entry is whited out.
* [[spoiler: WeHardlyKnewYe: He doesn't get a lot of character development before his untimely demise.]]
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: It's left up in the air as to whether part of [[spoiler: his spirit survives, still stuck in the alternate dimension. The fact that part of [=DragonKlaw's=] spirit was revealed to have survived during ''Lock(e)down'' doesn't clear up the matter.]]

[[WMG: Gifford Foss]]

A Grorb goblin from the realm of Byronia, he became stuck on Earth during an adventure and decided to become a cadet while Magellan Academy works on trying to get him back home.

* JumpedAtTheCall: Even before becoming a cadet, he had an extreme hero complex.
* RunningOnAllFours: He naturally runs this way, going fast enough to keep up with his partner, the speedster Nadine, in one exercise.
* MonochromaticEyes: His eyes are a solid yellow.
* TinyGuyHugeGirl: Not just with girls, but with all cadets. Gifford's shown to only come up to most characters' knees.
* TheLostLenore: He greatly misses his girl back home, Jin, who most likely thinks he's dead.
* NormalFishInATinyPond: He points out during the interspecies support group that the group members only have powers by the standards of Earth. Back in their own worlds, they're nothing special, and it makes him question if he deserves to be a superhero.

[[WMG: Rochelle Kwan]]

She's a Buddhist cadet with one of the highest [=IQs=] on the planet. Though she's often impatient with what she sees as stupidity from other cadets around her, she's trying become emotionally ready to be a superhero.

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: A positive example. Webcomic/{{Mindmistress}} is even smarter than Rochelle and is therefore one of the few adults she respects, even to the point of [[spoiler: subconsciously wanting to design her future costume to be like hers.]]
* CutLexLuthorACheck: It's mentioned by Rochelle herself that she could make her father's company billions of dollars, but instead is following her Buddhist faith and own moral code to better the world by becoming a superhero.
* GroundhogDayLoop: She enters one with the help of Ambrosia to figure out a way to stop the Rarg. From her POV, she never dies, but Ambrosia is forced to watch her die over ten times before they figure out a way to kill the aliens.
* InsufferableGenius: Rochelle Kwan, thanks to being one of the smartest people, teenager, adult, or alien, comes off as one of these. It takes meeting Mindmistress' alter ego Lorelai to get her a taste of humble pie.
* LoveConfession: She gives [[spoiler: Kaycee]] one during the [[spoiler: original timeline]] of the Rarg attack, knowing it's her only chance as it's very unlikely they will both survive.
* TheNeedsOfTheMany: Knowing that she's the only real one who can figure out a plan to stop the Rarg gives her the mental fortitude to sacrifice herself as many times as necessary using Ambrosia's time-slip abilities.
* NoSell: The way her cranium is literally made prevents the Rarg from stripping her of her powers when they do so to most of the island.
* NoSocialSkills: Part of her cadet training is merely getting her to relate to her peers and not isolate herself.
* SherlockScan: Because of her intellect, she can figure situations out with only thirty seconds of glancing around. She also can come up with many variations of a plan within a few minutes after she's taken in all the variables.
* TheSleepless: She meditates instead of sleeping to keep her mind from crashing.
* WellDoneDaughterGirl: It's shown in her mindscape that she secretly wants approval from her father for her powers, rather than just being used as a tool to make him money.

[[WMG: Mudge Wilson]]

An English cadet with TouchTelepathy, his powers can show psychic memory holograms of whatever he touches. He's one of the stranger cadets.

* CovertPervert: He's shown to steal underwear from the girls in his dorm and hold it as a way to telepathically masturbate.
* LonersAreFreaks: Among the cadets, he's shown to have almost no friends or any meaningful relationships, which continues even into his third year.
* PowerIncontinence: His powers are shown to cause him immense pain when he uses them. He's worse off than even Billy is, shown to be unable to even ''touch'' a girl. [[spoiler: Eventually resolved as of ''Lock(e)down''. Having his mind melded gave him enough knowledge to overcome the psychic barriers holding him back.]]
* PowerPerversionPotential: The above reason for stealing girl's underwear.
* TookALevelInBadass: After [[spoiler: having his mind fused together with the other cadets by Vostok,]] he's finally able to overcome the pain that comes with his powers. He's so ecstatic about it he even blurts out to Freya during a counseling session that now he can [[TooMuchInformation finally get laid.]]

[[WMG: Louis Jackson]]

A cadet with jumping powers, he's very serious-minded.

* StopHavingFunGuys: He's the cadet who immediately takes failing a mission harder than anyone else, blaming it on a lack of control from other cadets and their powers. He's also one of the few to never shown use his powers frivolously.
* YinYangBomb: Not his power set by himself. But when he and Sioni combined their powers during a training exercise, his mass was lightened to the point where he could make extreme jumps that would otherwise not have been possible.

[[WMG: Joe Berger]]

A cadet who has control over his own density, allowing him to become a cloud of living tissue and gas or become super-dense like a small tower of living concrete. Since he has no control over his clothes whenever he transforms, he becomes naked. This has led him to become a joke among the other cadets.

* NakedOnArrival: The first significant bit of interaction he has involves him being forced to lose all his clothes.
* PowerIncontinence: He can't phase his clothes with him when he changes shape.
* TookALevelInBadass: Manages to save Maya's life by learning what happens when electricity is conducted through a cloud of living tissue and also finally goes solid for the first time to break a villain's hand in the same arc.

[[WMG: Jenna Zots]]

A quiet Forn demon, at first Jenna disapproves of Kaycee being a cadet, feeling she only coasts to victory on the hard work of others. Later on, she warms up to her after Kaycee takes her to Alexis' gravesite. She reveals her own older sisters were killed by religious fanatics and asks to be [[SwornBrothers Kaycee's sister]] instead.

* CowardlyLion: The first time she's out in the field in a real combat situation, she freezes up. Lin-Lin calls her out on it.
* DarkIsNotEvil: She looks like a stereotypical devil-style demon, but she's really just a teenage girl underneath the horns and tail.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: A counter-example. She may have red sclera, but she's a heroic Magellan cadet.

[[WMG: Jemima Castlemaine]]

Another witch from Kaycee's year, she's shown to be much more timid than Montana-Rose, but still tends to go along with her friend's schemes.

* BewareTheNiceOnes: She's usually a completely harmless little witch...[[spoiler: But completely tears apart the [=DragonKlaw=] nightmare in her mindscape with ease.]]
* MeaningfulName: Her [[spoiler: alternate universe codename]] of Gothika fits her dark complexion and style of dress.
* MyGreatestFailure: See the nightmare entry below.
* RavenHairIvorySkin: Her natural look, when she's not putting streaks in or changing her hair color.
* ShrinkingViolet: In comparison to the other witches introduced in the strip, she's very shy and unsure of her powers.
* StraightGay: It was only recently revealed in the strip that she's dating Janice.

[[WMG: Lyta]]

A demi-goddess warrior from the realm Arkan, she's got a wicked temper that often manifests in forms of threats both verbal and physical towards her fellow cadets. She's got a slight rivalry with Charisma, mainly due to their similar powers.

* CowardlyLion: Her greatest nightmare is shown to be the fear she showed when facing a horrible monster during a ritual in her home realm. She begged for mercy when she was supposed to instead bravely slay the beast.
* HalfHumanHybrid: She's not a full-blooded god, but only about a quarter.
* LeeroyJenkins: Her typical (and only) fighting style.
%%zce* ProudWarriorRaceGirl: Her complete personality in a nutshell.

[[WMG: Gregor Ulrich]]

A Russian from their colony on Mars, he can shoot plasma bolts. He and Joe get taken down by Kaycee and Fatima in their training exercise.

%%* EnergyWeapon: His powers.

[[WMG: Anka Walczak]]

A Polish cadet with powers over electricity. She and Rochelle are taken out in the first exercise by Maya's mind-mojo.

[[WMG: Gabby Vidal]]

A Chilean fire-breather, she's one of Charisma's only friends/fans, and also has a boatload of issues relating to being a walking flamethrower.

* BlessedWithSuck: While her powers are formidable, they've put a definite crimp into her social life. She feels ugly due to them.
* BreathWeapon: She can breathe fire. A side effect is smoke constantly trickling out of her mouth.
* GrandTheftMe: She's the first character [[spoiler: Gaius]] takes over.
* OppositesAttract: Quite literally as she's [[RelationshipReveal revealed]] to be dating Matt, a cadet who has ice powers and is one of the few who can be with her without worrying she'll burn them.

[[WMG: Fabian [=LaCrosse=]]]

A cocky, stuffy French cadet who can fly. He's only been shown properly once in a side-strip with Montana-Rose.

* DemotedToExtra: Originally, he was supposed to have a "bit" with Montana-Rose where she would flirt with him continuously and he would disdain her advances. This fell by the wayside and he's never gotten any real characterization since.
* FlyingBrick: Subverted. He's only got the power to fly and in their first year, doesn't even possess the muscle mass to carry another person with him.
* FrenchJerk: In his brief appearance, he's shown to be more concerned with how his ego will be bruised than working together with his teammate to complete their mission.
%%* IBelieveICanFly: His only power.

[[WMG: chiq]]

A mysterious alien cadet from the planet Pareya who is forced to stay inside a bio-suit, chiq is a male cadet with the power to steal other powers, whether they be genetic or magical in nature.

* AllYourPowersCombined: He can steal any powers, though only one at a time.
* AmbiguousGender: Due to his ambiguous sounding name, lack of facial features due to his opaque bio-suit, and six breasts, many readers thought he was a she. This got Lampshaded in the comic proper when Charisma, whom after spending living quarters with chiq for a year and a half, is corrected by Billy for not knowing his gender.
* GenderBlenderName: Despite the female-sounding pronunciation of "Chick", he is, in fact, biologically male.
* KilledOffForReal: In the [[spoiler: original timeline of the Rarg attack, he's one of the last heroes to die as Sista Superior hits him with one of her energy blasts.]]
* RaisedByWolves: WordOfGod says he was raised on Earth (or rather, ''hatched'' on Earth) by humans. His powers are unique even among his own people.
* YouNoTakeCandle: Sometimes mixes up his words, especially pronouns, referring to himself as me instead of I.

[[WMG: Hugh Black]]

Though not much has been shown of Hugh, judging from the expression on his face when his team fails a mission and what Olga can read off of him, he's been having some tough times romantically.

* OutOfFocus: Along with Jesus and Fabian, he's never directly spoken in the proper comic.

[[WMG: Jesus D'Silva]]

Not much is known about this cadet. What Olga reads off of him on the plane shows he's thinking of quitting Magellan.

* OutOfFocus: Along with Hugh and Fabian, he's never spoken in the comic, let along received any meaningful characterization.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Magellan Cadets: Class of 2016]]

The group of cadets behind the class of 2014, this group focuses mainly on the cadets Brelvis Lonsdog and Olga Beh. The rest were introduced through the humorous side segments known as Olga and Brelvis.

[[WMG:Brelvis Lonsdog]]

The secondary protagonist, Brelvis is an amalgamation of Kaycee's childhood friend Brian Lonsdale and his pet dog Elvis, a result of a botched effort to give himself super powers.

* BigDamnHeroes: How he gets the attention of Magellan is by pulling this to save Go!Anna.
* CallingTheOldManOut: Gets to do this after he learns his father [[spoiler:tried to duplicate the creation of Brelvis, only with innocent people and alien species]].
* {{Deuteragonist}}: His personal story arc is mostly separate from Kaycee's at first, but it eventually leads to him planning to enroll in Magellan alongside her.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Brian's plan to merge with Elvis just to impress Kaycee was pretty darn [[IdiotBall stupid]], considering he had no idea what he'd look like, and he didn't even know if the process was reversible. As it turns out, it wasn't.
* FusionDance: Brian's original plan to merge with Elvis. It didn't quite work out as planned.
* ExtraParentConception: Since he was fused from Brian and Elvis, he has two sets of parents, one human and one canine.
* {{Gonk}}: Honestly, Brelvis is disturbingly ugly.
* TheNoseKnows: It's his primary sense, and he's actually heavily limited in situations where it doesn't work (such as training scenarios with robots that smell identical).
* NoSocialSkills: Starts off with no tact in regards to revealing what he can smell or knows, which stirs up a lot of personal drama.
* QuitYourWhining: Brelvis complains how hard being restricted on the island and training to become a cadet is more than even Charisma does. Wombat-Man, of all people, finally calls him out on it.
* SignificantGreenEyedRedhead
* SpannerInTheWorks: He reveals Wombat-Man is cheating on Go!Anna, [[spoiler: changing the course of events that led him to becoming Wombat-Man's sidekick Mongrel in the alternate timeline.]]
* SpeechImpairedAnimal: He talks just like Scooby-Doo. Justified, considering his jaw appears to be a bit oversized and full of sharp teeth.
* UnluckyChildhoodFriend: Brelvis is slowly coming to terms with the fact that Kaycee can't see his crush on her.

[[WMG: Olga Beh]]

A new cadet who is the grand-niece of the deceased Magellan Council member Gola Beh. She's inherited her aunt's telepathic abilities. [[spoiler: In reality, "Olga" is really a de-aged Gola, who is missing a large portion of her memories. She's decided to become a cadet and train to be a superhero again. She often finds it difficult to relate to her peers, being a thirty-four year old from the seventies stuck in a fifteen-year old body.]]

* AMindIsATerribleThingToRead: Being unused to her powers, being surrounded by teenagers who think a lot mostly of sex is not a fun experience. [[spoiler: When she tries to read the mind of an old man that knew her before, she sees ''way'' more than she wants to involving their sexual relationship. HilarityEnsues. So does {{Squick}}.]]
* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: Invoked. The records faked for her background have left her the only living relative of Gola.
* IHatePastMe: A mild version. [[spoiler: Olga calls her past self of Gola a moron for deciding co-ed dorms and showers were a good idea.]]
* OutdatedOutfit: Her clothes, including her superhero outfit, resemble those of the 70s more than present day. [[spoiler: Justified in that she's mentally from that era.]]
* PowerIncontinence: Mainly because of her physical age, Olga is nowhere near as skilled as Gola was at shielding her mind from reading unwanted thoughts.
* SignificantAnagram: [[spoiler:Gola → Olga]]
* ThatManIsDead: [[spoiler: Olga is having a very hard time putting her former self of Gola behind her. It's started to affect her relationships both with her current classmates and former teammates.]]
* UncannyFamilyResemblance: Most people mistake her for being Gola's daughter or niece due to their strong resemblance.

[[WMG: Sun Moon]]

A Korean cadet with powers of magnetism. She's shown to be lacking some confidence in being able to use her powers.

* CameBackWrong: When Olaf brings her back from the dead in the Rarg invasion, there is something decidedly....off about her, for she's become far more willing to kill and with violent mannerisms.
* CuteButCacophonic: She snores like a chainsaw.
* PowerIncontinence: She can't control her powers when she gets the hiccups.
%%* PunnyName: Speaks for itself.

[[WMG: Ornuk Mf]]

A troll from Gnor, this cadet is known by the others for being ''extremely'' gassy.

* BizarreTasteInFood: Expresses a desire to eat a dead rat for lunch.
* CameBackWrong: Ends up in the same zombified state Sun and Yasmeen are in when Olaf brings him back from the dead.
* {{Gasshole}}: He can burp and fart at the same time!
* TheMindIsThePlaythingOfTheBody: When he turns into Dylan's wylding form, he seems to gain some of her vicious nature.
* MorphicResonance: His gassy nature.
* {{Shapeshifting}}: He can shapeshift, though the above trait remains the same no matter who he impersonates.

[[WMG: Matt Bloom]]

An American cadet with the power to create and control ice.

* AnIcePerson: His power set.
* AscendedFanboy: He's ecstatic to show off the bruise Charisma gave him to the other cadets.
* CasanovaWannabe: He apparently has a reputation for hitting on the girls in his class, but they're clearly not interested. Yasmeen refers to his as a sleaze.
* PowerIncontinence: He accidentally freezes himself in the shower.
* RelationshipReveal: He's revealed to be in a relationship with Gabby during ''ParaRARGdox.''

[[WMG: Maria Ponti]]

An Italian cadet who has control over the elements, specifically over light emission.

* LightEmUp: Her power set.
* JerkassHasAPoint: She may be very blunt and angry when talking to Olga, but she gives her a much-needed wake-up call regarding how Olga's reading the minds of everyone around her and receiving special treatment.

[[WMG: Kyunda Mbutu]]

A Kenyan cadet who can split into multiple versions of himself.

* SelfDuplication: A variation in that his multiples halve by size and mass each time he divides himself. He can also have some of the duplicates at different sizes.
* PowerIncontinence: He can't multiply his clothes with his various selves yet.

[[WMG: Yasmeen Jafari]]

A young Muslim witch with a history of magic running in her family.

* CameBackWrong: Is much more bloodthirsty after she's revived by Olaf.
* ConspiracyTheorist: She's one of the only people suspicious of [[spoiler: Olaf, going so far as to compile an entire notebook on everything she knows about him.]]
* FantasticRacism: Her apparent obsession with [[spoiler: Olaf]] notwithstanding, she refers to some of the non-human cadets at Magellan as "weirdos" in her notes. This despite the fact that many cadets are aliens or come from different realms, including at least three from her own class.
* HeelFaceTurn: Not herself specifically, but her family underwent one towards the side of good a generation ago.
* LegacyCharacter: Her grandfather was a powerful and evil wizard who nearly sent California to Hell in 1972.
* NotQuiteDead: Olaf revives her in ''[=ParaRARGdox=]'' after she dies, and surprisingly, she agrees to whatever terms he put forth to come back to life.

[[WMG: Ravi Chopra]]

An Indian cadet who can transform into Shakti, the Hindu Godess for Women. This form also gives him additional powers.

* SuperGenderBender: His powers involve turning into an avatar of the female Hindu goddess Shakti.

[[WMG: Jai-Jai Floxizan]]

A tiny pixie from a different realm. She technically doesn't wear any clothes, since as the artist pointed out, how is Magellan supposed to make a costume that small?

* BarbieDollAnatomy: Though she's naked, it's impossible to see anything due to how small she is.
* CanonForeigner: She was first featured in one of xmung's other works called ''The Bare Pit.''
* NationalGeographicNudity: Being from a realm that has different standards of nudity and being so small are likely what give her a pass on flying around naked.

[[WMG: Svetlana Yeltsin]]

A Russian cadet who can control insects.

* CameBackWrong: Though there's no indication yet that this is actually the case, [[spoiler: Yasmeen believes she's been "tainted" by Olaf due to being brought back and is now one of his minions.]]
* DeathIsCheap: [[spoiler: She's brought back to life by Olaf just after being declared brain dead.]]
* IBelieveICanFly: A variation. She uses a cloud of bugs so dense beneath her feet that it can lift her through the air.
* NotTheFallThatKillsYou: She doesn't fall as a dramatic distance as those in superhero comics usually do, but [[spoiler: she lands outside the area of the safety net and on her head, which would certainly kill anyone.]]
* PowerIncontinence: Zigzagged. She's one of the few cadets in her class shown to have very good control over her powers. But during an exercise she loses control of the bugs for just a few moments and it causes [[spoiler: her death.]]
* RescueRomance: She falls for [[spoiler: Olaf]] after he saves her [[spoiler: from death.]]
* SpeaksFluentAnimal: Can control any group of bugs or arachnids.
* WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway: {{Lampshaded}} by xmung, but it's also shown that being able to control a group of animals that have over 1 million different unique species actually can come in handy.

[[WMG: Lee Wu (Chinese Lantern 3)]]

A Chinese cadet who's been chosen to carry on the legacy of the Chinese Lantern

* LegacyCharacter: He's the third in the line of Chinese Lanterns.
* PowerIncontinence: He can't do the full-blown lantern yet, only a small one around his head.

[[WMG: Olaf]]

A mysterious cadet that doesn't seem to operate the way everyone else does. The backstory for him was revealed in a [[http://magellanverse.com/comic/parargdox-93/#comment-5626 reader comment.]]

* ADayInTheSpotlight: ''The Olaf Mystery'', a side story, was entirely about him and his mysterious ways.
* AlienBlood: His blood or the equivalant of is apparently black.
* AllThereInTheManual: Since much of Olaf's backstory was made in conjuction with a reader giving input, notes are often put beneath the sections he appears in to clarify his backstory.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: It's not entirely clear, even to those who know him In-Universe, if he's a severely mutated human, an alien, an android, or some other sort of unworldly being.
* BarbieDollAnatomy: One of [[spoiler: Yasmeen's]] theories is that he doesn't even possess male anatomy.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: Before his personality and powers were fully fleshed out in his side story, he's shown smiling in his cameo in ''Olga and Brelvis'', something he likely would never do.
* EldritchAbomination: What [[spoiler: Yasmeen]] believes he might be.
* FullNameBasis: Olaf refers to everyone this way, without even a pause between the first and last name, calling Tom [=TomBass=] and Svetlana as [=SvetlanaYeltsin=].
* GhostlyGlide: How he moves around, hovering through the air rather than walking.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: He can apparently make his eyes glow at will, using it to read [[spoiler: Yasmeen's notes about him.]]
* HealingHands: What Magellan officially classifies his powers as. The truth seems to be a little more complicated
* ItIsDehumanizing: [[spoiler: Yasmeen]] refers to him as a 'thing' and 'it' in her notes about him.
* MagicAIsMagicA: While it's unclear if his powers are magical or scientific in nature, Olaf makes it clear that he can't bring a ''dying'' person back to life, only one who is ''actually'' dead.
* MyBrainIsBig: His head is ''huge'', with weird circles and lines on it, though it's not clear if this directly correlates to his powers.
* MySensorsIndicateYouWantToTapThat: Bluntly points out that Matt wants to have sex with Olga.
* {{Necromancer}}: Part of his power set involves bringing people back from the dead. [[spoiler: Yasmeen]] claims it's not true magic and that the academy doesn't even know how to classify his powers.
* NoSocialSkills: His way of interacting with his fellow cadets is rather...odd, to say the least. He says he has a list of questions he's been told not to ask again.
* OffWithHisHead: The Rarg attempt to stop his reanimations by slicing his head off. Turns into a case of LosingYourHead when it turns out he can temporarily survive with his head removed.
* PsychicStatic: Olga has trouble reading his mind because she says it's not a single individual minds, but fractions like a chorus. On the other side, Olaf has trouble with Brevlis' merged dual consciousness.
* TheEmpath: Appears to be able to sense emotions in a limited way, for he revives [[spoiler: Svetlana]] because he no longer wants her to "feel distress."
* TheReveal: At the end of The Olaf Mystery, it's shown that [[spoiler: the one reading Yasmeen's notes about Olaf was in fact himself.]]

[[WMG: Isina Gabar-Dheer]]

A cadet who has the power to accelerate her growth, allowing her to grow taller, but not wider.

* RequiredSecondaryPowers: Played with. When she has to grow faster than she's ever done before during an emergency, she thinks in her inner monologue that she hopes her bones, muscles, and guts can take it. Apparently, they're able to, for she's seen without any harm afterwards.

[[WMG: JJ Knowles]]

A cadet who has the power to project negative energy fields. His very distinct appearance is like that of a photograph negative.

[[WMG: Jaxine]]

A cadet who can fly. She's apparently not human, being classified with those like the aliens and the extra-dimensionals.

* CatchAFallingStar: When Svetlana falls a great distance during a training exercise, Jaxine tries to catch her before she hits the ground. [[spoiler: In a subversion of this trope, she fails and Svetlana lands on her head.]]
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: When she volunteers to scout out the weapon the Rarg have launched in the [[spoiler: original timeline, they stab her through the heart with a javelin-like weapon.]]
* NoSell: Because her powers appear to be biological in nature, she's one of the few to maintain them after the Rarg use their device to strip the powers from everyone on Magellan Island.
* WingedHumanoid: Jaxine has purple wings she uses to fly with.

[[WMG: Momo]]

An extraterrestrial with the power to shoot optic lasers from their eyes.

* AmbiguousGender: It's ambiguous if Momo is male, female, or if their species even divides itself up into standard Earth genders.
* EyeBeams: A particularly effective example given they have six eyes!
* StarfishAliens: Momo appears to be a pink worm-like creature the size of a human being with multiple sets of eyes.

[[WMG: Dylan]]

A human girl with the ability to shapeshift into a savage Wyld form.

* OurWerewolvesAreDifferent: Her wylding form seems to be rather wolf-like in nature, looking like a little like a purple werewolf with limbs proportional to her size.

[[WMG: Verne]]

A male cadet with SuperSpeed.

[[WMG: Buddy]]

A rather short and rotund male cadet who has a form of {{Telepathy}}.

[[WMG: Others]]

There's six other freshman who make a cameo appearance in the side strip Olga and Brelvis, though they don't get any lines or character development. Their names are Woz, Yoko, Leigh Brown, Simon, Kevin, and George.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Magellan Cadets: Class of 2017]]

The latest group of cadets at the academy as of the story [=ParaRARGdox=].

[[WMG: Ambrosia Paz]]

A Bolivian girl with an interesting variation on time travel powers. Her mother was saved in the '70s by Gola Beh.

* DarkAndTroubledPast: Her powers were forced on her by [[MadScientist mad scientists]] and they did all sorts of torture to her to try and figure out a way to extend her time-slip powers to go further than one minute.
* NoSocialSkills: She's so emotional she starts hugging Olga in the middle of the showers while she's only in a towel.
* OurTimeTravelIsDifferent: She can only go back as far as one minute into the past to change things, something she calls a "time-slip", since it's only mentally traveling back into her old body. [[spoiler: It turns out she ''can'' travel back further as Rochelle theorized, as when Sista Superior's blast eviscerates her, the energy she puts out during time travel causes her and the five people surrounding her all get sent back mentally two hours into the past.]]

[[WMG: Morgana Simpson]]

A witch who is Ambrosia's best friend.

* EyeScream: Loses an eye in an explosion on the robomat before Ambrosia goes back to stop it.
* KilledOffForReal: Dies during the [[spoiler: original version of the Rarg invasion.]]

[[WMG: Eli Cranston]]

* KilledOffForReal: Briefly before Ambrosia goes back to stop the explosion that kills him and Marc.

[[WMG: Marco d'Antigua]]

* KilledOffForReal: Briefly before Ambrosia goes back to stop the explosion that kills him and Eli. [[spoiler: It happens again when Pux slams into him at top speed and turns both of them into chunky Jello.]]

[[WMG: Bobbi Pan]]
A young non-human witch.

* AmbiguouslyHuman: It's not been made clear yet if Bobbi is a mutated human similar to Go!Anna or from a completely different species.
* AnArmAndALeg: In the [[spoiler: second version]] of the Rarg invasion she ends up with her [[spoiler: arm ripped off when Pux tries to help her and Marco while they're still going at top speed.]]
* EyeScream: In the Rarg attack's [[spoiler: original timeline something terrible happens during the attack that blinds her. She's last seen on a stretcher with a bloody bandage across her eye sockets.]]
* InSpiteOfANail: In [[spoiler: both timelines]] she ends up getting maimed to a degree where it affects body parts.
* PettingZooPeople: She has the horns of a ram, hooves rather than feet, and a bushy tail.

[[WMG: Zub Pux Az]]

A non-human cadet with SuperSpeed.

* AlienBlood: Their blood is a green color.
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Despite being a first year cadet and therefore one of the least-experienced speedsters in handling actual emergency situations, they chafe under listening to the advice cadets that are older than them like Nadine.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: The above comes back to bite them in the ass ''hard'' when they ignore Nadine's warnings not to touch other cadets when helping to evacuate during the Rarg invasion because they can't expand their personal inertial dampening field. They end up [[spoiler: killing Marco, maiming Bobbi and themself]] when they try to intervene. It's implied the pair didn't even ''need'' their help as Morgana was already helping out and they did so mainly because they arrogantly wanted to show off.
* NotTheFallThatKillsYou: Because they don't have control over the personal inertial dampening field that allows speedsters to touch people without hurting them when going at top speed, they [[spoiler: run into Marco and Bobbi so fast that Marco is instantly killed while they and Bobbi are seriously maimed.]]

[[WMG: Taylor Schwift]]

A female cadet with SuperSpeed.

* PunnyName: Grace originally had the idea to name her Taylor Swift, but thought that was a bit too much, so instead gave Taylor a last name that still gets the idea of her power set across.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Magellan Cadets: Class of 2014]]

[[WMG: Janice Blake]]

A pretty British witch with lots of confidence.

* StraightGay: It's revealed she's dating Jemima during Lock(e)down.
* WhiteHairedPrettyGirl: She's got natural white locks, which fit her status as a magical witch.

[[WMG: Hamish Bashir]]

A Lebanese wizard who regularly hangs around with Janice, Montana-Rose, and Jemima.

* ChivalrousPervert: Hamish honestly cares about the group of witches he's friends with...but this doesn't stop him from suggesting they perform a spell naked because it has a higher chance of success that way.

[[WMG: Briar O'Hennessy]]

A centauress from a parallel world where Ireland is inhabited by centaurs.

* AscendedExtra: Originally just seen running away during a crowd scene, fans were so eager to know more about the centuaress that xmung included her during a meeting of the "Understanding Terran Culture Support Group."
* OurCentaursAreDifferent: Seem to be a pretty standard depiction of a Greek centaur with the exception of wearing a fantasy-style shirt.

[[WMG: Saleem Massoud]]

A pyromorph who dies after being critically injured in the attack [=DragonKlaw=] and Miasma wage upon Magellan Island. He's posthumously awarded the Magellan Medal of Honor.

* HeroicSacrifice: He doesn't hesitate to engage a ''dragon'' attacking the island, and manages to keep it distracted all on his own long enough for other cadets to come up with a plan to kill it, but the beast gets the better of him.
* PlayingWithFire: He's able to do the classic "man covered in fire and able to fly" portrayal of the power like Johnny Storm.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Magellan Cadets: Class of 2013]]

As of 2011, they now have picked out codenames and designed their costumes.

[[WMG: Polly Tenu]]

A non-human cadet from the realm of Shlos.

* GreenSkinnedSpaceBabe: Despite coming from a completely different world, she's much more human-looking than many of the other cadets who come from different planets and realms.
* {{Shapeshifting}}: She can turn into humanoid creatures from her homeworld, such as growing bat-like wings to help her fly.

[[WMG: V'ries bol-lob Sier'v]]

A non-human cadet from the realm of Akti-itka, he has the power of {{Intangibility}}.

[[WMG: Zac Breen (The Whizzard)]]

* {{Expy}}: Though possibly not intentional, being an arrogant speedster with white hair makes him strongly resemble {{ComicBook/Quicksilver}}.
* SitcomArchNemesis: Nadine ''really'' can't stand him, something that the [[spoiler: Fast Club]] uses to motivate her when they say they are considering him as a member instead of her.

[[WMG: Ali Baja]]

A wizard from Trinidad.

[[WMG: Yukiko Hara]]

A witch from Japan.

[[WMG: Lily Quinset]]

A telepath of some skill who is used by the staff on Magellan Island when all electronics go down during the attack from Locke Island.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Magellan Cadets: Class of 2012]]

As of 2011, they've designed their own costumes and chosen codenames, and are doing their sixth year placements with various Magellan groups.

[[WMG: Geraldine Keyes]]

A cadet with the power of ocular heat rays a la Cyclops from the X-men. Her costume has a visor to help strengthen and focus her blasts

* DeadlyGaze: Appears to kill [[spoiler: Maverick]], but it's only an illusion by Maya to fool Miasma by giving her everything she wants.
* EyeBeams: Her power set.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: When she's using her powers.

[[WMG: Mandy Green]]

* ChromeChampion: Her powers are malleable organic steel made from her body.

[[WMG: Padma Singh (Hair'Port)]]

A cadet with the mystical ability to teleport by using her mystical hair. She does her sixth year placement with Euro Magellan

* GiverOfLameNames: Tom and Freya are not very impressed with her codename.
* {{Telefrag}}: Exploited by her when fighting the Rarg. She teleports them into spaces where there are already pieces of rubble, killing them. [[spoiler: It ends up being what kills her when she makes a desperate jump with too many passengers and ends up teleporting herself into part of the downed Euro Magellan jet.]]
* TeleportationSpam: Her abilities come in quite handy when the cadets are being held captive by the Hybrids.

[[WMG: Porgus Vat (Full-Metal Frog)]]

He does his sixth year placement with Magellan USA.

* BeastMan: He looks exactly like an anthropomorphic frog.
* ForcedTransformation: The [[AllThereInTheManual cast page]] states that his powers are the result of a curse, not mutant DNA or technology.
* TheUnintelligible: While not much has been shown of the frog-boy, every time he appears, all he can speak in is "Ribbit!" and "Croak!" Apparently, his curse means he can only speak in Phrog.

[[WMG: Quentin Smythe (El Torro)]]

* SuperStrength: His powerset is listed as "powerhouse."

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Magellan Cadets: Class of 2011]]

The group of cadets originally introduced in their fifth year, they are now in their final year. As of 2011, they have graduated, and been placed with various Magellan groups.

[[WMG: Judith Stokes (Punchin' Judy)]]

A cadet who loves to get up close and personal in combat. While she doesn't possess the SuperStrength or flight of a FlyingBrick, being invulnerable means she can smash through just about anything. She joins Force Magellan after graduation.

* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: She perishes in the Rarg attack.]]
* MadeOfIron: Her power set is invulnerability. When a group of cadets is in free-fall, she's prioritized last and is allowed to just fall into the sand since she won't be injured.

[[WMG: Rueben Elias [=(ParadoxiMan)=]]]

He's got powers that allow him to affect the world around him by creating paradoxes. He's placed with Euro Magellan after graduation.

* BornUnlucky: The ''very first piece'' of rubble he puts his weight on during the Rarg invasion when he attempts to help out on the ground collapses on top of him, giving him injuries so severe they nearly kill him outright.
* Determinator: Despite having injuries so bad he's coughing up blood and likely dying, he still pushes himself to stay conscious long enough for one last paradox to change the fate of the world when the Rarg attack.
* RealityWarper: He can change things by creating a local paradox in the area. It's a little complicated. Best demonstrated [[http://magellanverse.com/comic/ipsofacto/ here.]]

[[WMG: Name Unknown (She-Hog)]]
A slightly ditzy blonde who is placed with Magellan USA after graduation.

* TheDitz: Go!Anna questions how she was ever able to graduate if she needs confirmation on what to do in normal situations the superhero teams face every day.
* AnimalThemedSuperbeing: She's able to shapeshift into a ''massive'' hog form, hence her codename.
* MagicPants: Despite the huge shift in mass, her clothes stay with her. Possibly justified given that Magellan does have courses on how to develop costumes, which meant she'd be able to design one stretchy enough to shift with her.
* VisualPun: A blonde pig with a frog she might have a crush on? [[Franchise/TheMuppets Sounds familiar...]] Lampshaded when Go!Anna flat-out calls her and Porgus Ms Piggy and Kermit.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Magellan Cadets: Class of 2010]]

The cadets originally introduced in their final year who graduate the year after the story starts. In accordance with their status, they are allowed to pick out code names and design their own costumes.

[[WMG: Bif Zots (Phase Master)]]
* CareerEndingInjury: Possibly. He gets beaten up very badly during World Fieldtrip Ever, to the point of being unconscious for a good majority of the action. At the end of the storyline, he's in a wheelchair, and hasn't been seen since.
* ElementalPowers: A native powerset of the Forn race.
* HollywoodAtheist: The Forn race is highly religious as a society, but Bif has chosen to abandon it, creating a great deal of friction between him and Jenna.

[[WMG: Lin-Lin Lo (Hidden Dragon)]]

A Chinese mutant with the power to turn [[{{Invisibility}} invisible]]. She's quick to berate Jenna for freezing up when her powers would have been useful. She's placed with Oz Magellan after graduation.

* AlliterativeName: Both her first and last name start with L.
* FashionVictimVillain: A example from a hero. Lin-Lin's superheroine outfit is ''not'' one of the better put-together ones in the Magellan universe. Considering putting together your outfit is one of the required classes at the academy, it looks like she might have failed that one.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Magellan Faculty]]

[[WMG: Freya Foster (Vybe)]]

She's the faculty head for Psychology, a reserve member of Force Magellan, and works as the student counselor. Her powers allow her to sense and control emotions, something she calls a 'vybe'. She and Tom are in a relationship.

* AlliterativeName: Both her first and last name started with F.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: After the Bad Karma storyline, her hairstyle switched from being long to short.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Sista Superior's blast kills her, Justine, and Ken when they're in an elevator and can't get away in the original Rarg invasion timeline.]]
* HappilyMarried: She and Tom have a solid, steady relationship.
* MeaningfulName: Freya is the Norse goddess of motherhood and love, a fitting first name for someone who works with and essentially mothers a bunch of teenagers. Her last name Foster attests to the fact that she's 'fostering' them, while none are truly her own children.
* WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway: Averted. While at first all she does is passively use her powers to stop fights and sense what's going on around her, when a brainwashed Tom comes after her, she unleashes her full powers on him. It's not a pretty sight and nearly fries his brain.

[[WMG: Tom Bass [=(ThundaKlap)=]]]

The faculty head of Phys Ed at the Academy and a reserve member of Force Magellan. He's got sonic powers allowing him to create a sonic boom with his voice. He and Freya are in a relationship.

* BrainwashedAndCrazy: When [[spoiler: Miasma]] creates an illusion where he thinks Freya was killed, he goes after his love and nearly screams her to death.
* DeathSeeker: After [[spoiler: Freya is killed during the original Rarg attack timeline,]] he seems to stop caring about whether he lives or dies during it.
* HiddenDepths: What none of the students know about him is that he hopes to eventually become a full-time member of Force Magellan.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: All it takes is ''one kick'' from Sista Superior to crush his ribcage and instantly kill him in the original Rarg attack timeline.]]
* MakeMeWannaShout: His sonic boom is so powerful it can be fatal at close range.
* MeaningfulName: His last name, Bass, is a reference to a sound unit.

[[WMG: Justine Keff (Redd)]]

Justine was faculty head for Security at the Academy. She resigned her position at the end of the Bad Karma storyline, feeling that she could no longer do her job properly.

* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: She has naturally red hair the same shade as her skin. Currently, however, it's dyed purple.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: After Bad Karma, her hairstyle switched from being short and red to long and purple.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: She's in the elevator with Freya and Ken when Sista Superior blasts them to bits in the original Rarg attack timeline.]]
* RequiredSecondaryPowers: Subverted. She has super-strength, but without her reinforcing exoskeleton, her bones will shatter and internal organs will burst under the pressure of using her powers.

[[WMG: Jaqi Leffee (Mademoiselle Minou)]]

She's an anthropomorphic French cat that teaches costume design with the higher-up cadets.

* CatFolk: A more literal example than most. She even has six breasts like a realistic cat would.

[[WMG: Dr Biskart En]]

* {{Expy}}: Of the droning Professor Binns from Harry Potter.

[[WMG: Lord Psiot VIII (Infinite8)]]

A mystical magician from Latvia, he's taciturn and a little strange in his ways. When faced with the presence causing all the troubles in Lock(e)down, he recognizes it, but keeps it to himself. The only one he informs are the students who caused the mess in the first place.

* DarkIsNotEvil: His first helm was eerie at best and creepy at worst. His second has gone right into Darth Vader levels of spooky.
* ArmorAndMagicDontMix: Averted. He's a talented wizard and has been wearing his armor at every appearance in the storyline.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Mentioned in passing that he now had his father's helm, implying a story behind the matter.
* SuperHeroesWearCapes: He's one of the few heroes that do.

[[WMG: Dane]]
One of the few non-combatant members of the faculty, Dane is a blue alien that looks a bit like a giant microogranism combined with an insect. He is an expert on alien relationships and behavior and runs the "Understanding Terran Culture Support Group" for the non-human cadets. He's one of the few faculty members to survive the blitz attack the Rarg launch that takes out so many others, but since he's not able to fight, he's relegated to duty of taking dead Force Magellan operatives to the basement morgue.

* PrecisionFStrike: Generally a collected and professional individual, but he let one out when he learned that the Rarg had the motive to launch an assault on Magellan Island.

[[WMG: Dr Ben Fedder]]

[[WMG: Meeka Chi (Micra; ret)]]

A former superhero who is now retired and teaches the younger generation.

* RetiredBadass: She retired after a battle with Evil Weevil.
* Two-Faced: Half of her face got burnt off in her last fight. She hides it with an extreme combover.
* WildMassGuessing: Some fans have wondered if the "better half" she refers to having lost wasn't referring to her face at all, but a lost love.

[[WMG: Professor Munroe McFlugle]]

A science professor who wears a supersuit in combat.

* PoweredArmor: What he wears when out in the field.

[[WMG: Alison Marsters]]

A faculty member who teaches logistics.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Magellan Council]]

Most of the Magellan Council was originally part of the IJF and currently run the Magellan Academy. For those character who never appear in present-day as part of the council, look under IJF.

[[WMG: Mary Jemmas (Glamour; ret.)]]

A witch who has formidable powers even in her old age.

* AddledAddict: After being exposed to Diablo, she's left with body tremors that require her to be strapped down until it's completely out of her system.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: She's tricked into opening up a portal to give [=DragonKlaw=] and Miasma more power and later on fights the current Magellan superheroes so fiercely they have quite a bit of trouble taking her out.
* HoldYourHippogriffs: She swears upon the name of her Goddess, using it in the same way most people say "Oh my God!"
* IWasQuiteALooker: She looks quite stunning as a young witch and even in the present day isn't [[SilverVixen that bad on the eyes.]]
* MyGreatestFailure: Miasma exploits the secret guilt she carried over Magellan's death to send her into an illusion where she got to rescue him.
* ScarsAreForever: Her arms were severely injured by the portal she opened after it tried to consume her. While she recovered, she's shown wearing long gloves thereafter to hide the scars.
* ShipTease: It's hinted Magellan either had a thing going on with Glamour or Gola Beh. His nickname for Mary was Sexy Lady, after all.

[[WMG: Ken Spence (Nitro-Man; ret.)]]

Formerly the superhero Nitro-Man, Ken now is part of the Magellan Council and part-time drill sergeant for the cadets. He and Gola go way back, having teamed up on their first mission together when they were in their early twenties.

* CareerEndingInjury: Lost his legs in an unknown accident which also left in paralyzed from the waist down, putting an end to his official superhero career
* CostumeEvolution: He goes from [[http://magellanverse.com/comic/ixnay/ wide sunglasses]] to more of a [[http://magellanverse.com/comic/history/ visor]] in-between his first two meetings with Gola Beh. Later on in the 70s, he'd also have more of a streamlined, spandex look to his costume.
* DrillSergeantNasty: He's mean enough to get even the whiny Charisma to shut up and makes Sioni carry Maya (pre-weight loss) all the way to their destination.
* GenreSavvy: Is aware of some of the usual tropes of the superhero genre such as YouCantFightFate.
* GreaserDelinquents: What his first costume in the 50s invoked.
* HandicappedBadass: Lost both his legs in his last mission as Nitro-Man. He uses a hover-chair to get around, but this doesn't stop him from being the first one to want to attack the dragons that are plaguing Magellan.
* HotBlooded: His personality in a nutshell.
* IWorkAlone: His initial stance on teaming up with the rest of the IJF. However, readers know how that [[VindicatedByHistory worked out.]]
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Gets blasted by Sista Superior along with Freya and Justine when they're stuck in an elevator during the Rarg attack.]]
* MyGreatestFailure: Subconsciously, he still blames himself for Gola losing her eyesight and then later on [[spoiler: her memories.]]
* RetiredBadass: He is STILL the goddamn Nitro-Man and don't you forget it.
* SilverFox: He's very good-looking for man in his seventies.

[[WMG: Gola Beh]]

A telepath formerly of the IJF. At the beginning of the story, she's supposedly on sabbatical. Not all is as it seems, as she's still on the island, and possibly working for the bad guys.

* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Miasma makes her think she's still in 1972 Moscow so that her telepathic abilities will hide the villains.
* CodeName: She went by her real name when she became a superheroine, finding code names a bit ridiculous.
* CostumeEvolution: The original dress she used as a costume was continuously kept up with the times, looking very different in the 50s as opposed to the 70s.
* DisabilitySuperpower: Despite being blinded on her first mission, she carried on, thanks to developing her "third eye" which allowed her to see through the eyes of those around her.
* FountainOfYouth: [[spoiler: She's permanently de-aged into a fifteen year old, which makes her lose all memories past the age of thirty-four.]]
* HeroicWillpower: Despite being in her seventies, she pushes so hard against Miasma's illusions that [[spoiler: she breaks out of them at the cost of her memories.]]
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Subverted. She fakes her own death at the end of Redux so that she can start over under her new identity of Olga.]]
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: She loses all memories after 1972 trying to break out of the illusion. [[spoiler: She loses any chance of getting them back permanently after being de-aged into Olga.]]
* ProphetEyes: What her eyes looked like after being blinded by Vlax.
* MyGreatestFailure: Getting blinded by Vlax on her very first mission stayed with her a long time, as she almost lost her superhero career before it started. [[spoiler: As Olga, the reason she goes to Locke Island is to put the past behind her by seeing Vlax one last time.]]
* ShipTease: She's got some with Magellan, since she was the last person he said goodbye to before performing a HeroicSacrifice. Also a little with Ken in their first appearance. Some of his reminisces tend to sound a little like what former lovers might talk about.
* SpottingTheThread: She realizes she's in an illusion first when Miasma's powers fail for one single second and then secondly by using her telepathic abilities to psychically see what the room looks like
* TakingTheBullet: She pushed Ken out of the way on their first mission when Vlax fired a psychic blast at him. It resulted in her losing her eyesight.
* WhiteHairedPrettyGirl: While it wasn't originally natural, this is what her appearance in her twenties looked like.

[[WMG: Karma Joffe (Premonitia; ret.)]]

A philanthropic former superhero, she joins the Magellan Council at the beginning of the story to replace Gola Beh, who is on sabbatical. She has a grudge against Kaycee Jones. [[spoiler: In reality, Karma was killed by [=DragonKlaw=] and Miasma, with her identity stolen by the latter. To see all tropes relating to her real identity, look under Villains on Miasma.]]

* BadFuture: She seeks to prevent these from happening with her premonitions.
* HeartIsAnAwesomePower: While it isn't a very offensive power, she showed how useful it could be in her day-to-day life by using it to stop disasters and make money when she's older.
* IWasQuiteALooker: She was pretty nice looking back in the day.
* {{Seers}}: Her power is to see into the future.
* UnclePennybags: She uses her powers to play the stock market and give away millions of dollars to help people all over the world.

[[WMG: Alfred Burfett (Dr Logarythm; ret.)]]

A former superhero with the power of musical manipulation.

* OutOfFocus: While the other members of the IJF have gotten some characterization, not much has been done with Burfett or Mantovic.

[[WMG: Yuri Mantovic (Green Pope; ret.)]]

A former superhero with the power to [[GreenThumb control plants.]]

* OutOfFocus: Not much is known or has been done in-story with Mantovic.

[[WMG: Dr Alonzo Zee (Dr Zee; ret.)]]

A super smart chimpanzee.

* ShoutOut: Possibly to the [[Franchise/PlanetOfTheApes Planet of The Apes]] movie series.

[[WMG: Janje Ruff (Cyberia; ret.)]]

A {{Cyborg}} who was from one of the first graduating Magellan classes. She's retired now and serves on the Council.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Force Magellan]]

[[WMG: Kendra Dern (Vertigo)]]

The leader of Force Magellan, it's eventually revealed that the Master Assassin thinks she's the "main character" of the storyline he believes runs the world. [[spoiler: To end the storyline, he tries to have her assassinated. Despite knowledge from the Chroners ahead of time, he almost succeeds.]]

* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Attempted in the main universe and succeeded in the Chroners'.]]
* [[spoiler: NotQuiteDead: Whatever took over Locke Island put her body into a sort of stasis, keeping her alive until it ended.]]

[[WMG:Vlad Epoch (Epoch)]]

Vlad Epoch is a FlyingBrick superhero, one of the most well-known in the world. That's saying something considering how many are running around this version of Earth. He's the father of Charisma, who has him wrapped around her finger.

* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: [[spoiler: His parents were always planning to go back for him but they were killed in the Q'arth invasion before they could.]]
* DaddyHadAGoodReasonForAbandoningYou: Grace has said that [[spoiler: his parents were Red Vlad and Comrade Katya, the first two superheroes to die in [[http://magellanverse.com/comic/red-2/ the Q'arth invasion.]] ]]
** Regarding his own daughter, he didn't even know she existed until her mother [[spoiler: ended up in an insane asylum, at which point he found out about Charisma.]]
* {{Expy}}: Power and costume-wise, he's clearly the most direct reference to Superman in the comic.
* GoodParents: Well, he's ''trying'' for this trope. Being so absent from Charisma's life doesn't help much.
* GrandTheftMe: Gaius decides he is the perfect human host for him to take over.
* HuskyRusskie: He's noticeably one of the most muscular and physically biggest superheroes around.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: He's one of the casualties during the Rarg attack when the invulnerability related to his powers is removed.]]
* ManOfSteelWomanOfKleenex: Definitely a problem on how Charisma was conceived. Evangaline, Charisma's mother, got around it by [[spoiler: somehow stealing his sperm.]]
* ParentalAbandonment: WordofGod states he grew up without knowing who his parents were.
* SuperpowerfulGenetics: He gained his superpowers from his parents. Though he initially had them to avoid being crushed in his mother's birth canal, they faded away shortly after that, and he regained them later on in life.

[[WMG: Xian-Li Jiang (Hoodoo)]]

* HeroOfAnotherStory: She appears in the multi-webcomic team-up story ''Crossoverkill.''
* PregnantBadass: While she doesn't do too much herself, since her mind is stuck in limbo with everyone else on Locke Island, using her body through her fetus by Vostok is very helpful in doing certain things like [[spoiler: saving Vertigo's life.]]

[[WMG: Zeus Dimas (The Hierophant)]]
The Hierophant can call upon the power of the ancient Greek gods, such as giving him Heracles' super-strength when he needs it.

* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Another of the casualties during the Rarg attack.]]
* MagicHat: His helm is one since he can only see using something he calls his "divine-eye."
* MeaningfulName: A Greek man named Zeus with the power of the gods.
* UndyingLoyalty: His loyalty to Force Magellan is so strong that Miasma actually reaches a logical impasse in his mind she can't get around when trying to mind-mojo him into helping her instead of his teammates. It's the only time she can't get around one in the entire comic.

[[WMG: Kh~qTros"agLt (Tros)]]

An Mlabbic alien who serves on the team. He survives the Rarg attack that kills so many of his teammates and works with Go!Anna to stop the threats to the island.

* BizarreAlienReproduction: He suggests that Hoodoo lay an egg to keep her baby safe before he has it explained to him that this isn't an option for humans.
* NoSell: He's sent to help the Chroners deal with Miasma because his mind is too alien for her illusions to work on them.

[[WMG: Jake Smith-Smith (Ranger Bill)]]

A superhero from an alternate version of Earth.

* HandsomeLech: He's every bit as heroic as his teammates, but he's also the first to hope the {{MacGuffin}} Master Drake stole will turn everyone naked.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: He's one of the Rarg casualties.]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Oz Magellan]]

[[WMG: Vicky Bourke (Captain Victoria)]]
The leader of Oz Magellan, she graduated from the same class as Go!Anna, Vybe, and The Man Who Can did. She goes on a sabbatical leave after the truth about the Hybrids comes out.

* BoyishShortHair: Has her hair just barely above a buzz-cut.
* DesignatedVillain: Yes, she tries to take Brelvis to a lab to be studied and Wombat-Man cheats on Annie with her, but in any other story, she'd likely be a ReasonableAuthorityFigure.
* FlyingBrick: Her power set.
* PaperThinDisguise: As Annie points out, neither one of them are really trying all that hard to hide their identities with their codenames.
* TwoGirlsToATeam: She and Tassie are the only girls on the Oz Magellan squad.
* WhiteHairedPrettyGirl: Her general look.

[[WMG: Carter Conroy (Slow-Mo)]]
A superhero with time-shifting powers, he was one of the initial superheroes who started the Oz Magellan branch.

* TimeMaster: He can make everything go super slow. When Maya is working on snapping him out of his brainwashed state, she thinks about ten minutes has passed, when really it's been an hour.
* ShapedLikeItself: His codename.

[[WMG: Gary Wang (The Man Who Can)]]
A rather nerdy technopath who graduated in the same class that Go!Anna, Vybe, and Captain Victoria did.

* OnceDoneNeverForgotten: Apparently, he was so serious about his job he used to ''sleep'' in his armor. Annie still teases him about it.
* StopHavingFunGuys: He's extremely serious about all aspects of superheroing and doesn't even take a chance to relax after graduating.
* {{Technopath}}: He can control all sorts of electronics around him.
* TormentByAnnoyance: He's really irritated when people get his superhero name wrong, whether by accident or on purpose: [[spoiler: This clues Kaycee into the fact that he's not himself after being brainwashed by the Hybrids.]]

[[WMG: Jacob Twain (Good Guy)]]

* HolierThanThou: He tries to project an air of a classic, good ol' fashioned superhero right out of the 1940s a la Captain America, but he really just comes off as being completely insufferable.

[[WMG: Sebastian Marx (Red Centre)]]
The mystic and magical member of Oz Magellan.

* InTheHood: Wears an all-red hooded ensemble. His face has never even been shown on-page.
* PutOnABus: He's with Magellan USA for the entirety of ''Worst Fieldtrip Ever'', likely because his powers would have made it a bit too easy to defeat the villains.
* SpottingTheThread: He sees through a split second of Miasma's physical appearance not matching up with her astral appearance, cluing him in she's not who she says to be.
* SurpassedTheTeacher: Lord Psiot admits that he's always had a better developed third eye then he has and is able to spot Miasma in a disguise when no other character in the story can.

[[WMG: Phyllis Sanderson (Tassie Tigress)]]
She's from the latest graduating class and was placed with Oz Magellan.

* AnimalThemedSuperbeing: She's got sharp claws, the speed and strength of a tasmanian tiger, and a sixth sense.
* MeaningfulName: She's named after the Tasmanian tiger, a species that went extinct. [[spoiler: She's one of the first superheroes to go down when the Hybrids attack.]] Lampshaded by Kaycee and Fatima.
* SpiderSense: She's got a sixth sense that allows her to know when danger is near.

[[WMG: June [=McKinnon=] (Drop Bear)]]

* AnimalThemedSuperbeing: Her codename is the Australian term for a koala bear and she looks like one.
* BeastMan: She's built and looks like an actual koala, giving her super-strength and agility.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: While she's shown in a flashback to when Go!Anna first started working in Australia, she's nowhere to be found in the present day.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Magellan USA]]

[[WMG: Joe Mack (Liberator)]]

Team leader of Magellan USA.

* Eagleland: His costume invokes this trope.

[[WMG: Turquoise Moon (Twilight)]]

Magellan USA's resident telepath. She's one of the most skilled in the world and is called upon to see if she can recover Gola Beh's missing memories.

* BigDamnHeroes: She rescues Olga from Vlax on the astral plane just in time.
* MindProbe: She uses one to help Gola recover the first of her missing memories, which helps fortify them during a later attack. Later, she informs [[spoiler: Gola that her memories are permanently lost because the neural pathways that led to them have been erased with her deaging.]]
* SecretKeeper: She's one of the only people to know that Olga is actually [[spoiler: Gola.]]

[[WMG: Olaf Gerning (Maestro)]]

* {{Expy}}: Looks-wise, he's a double for TheShadow.

[[WMG: Mikey Eastwood (Battlestar)]]

[[WMG: Wo678 (Glom)]]

* GenkiBoy: A rare male example, Glom's few appearances show him always being happy and energetic, using ''hugs'' to incapacitate opponents and weapons. Even when destroying a missile, he hugs it to destroy it, calling it a "bad boomstick."

[[WMG: Steve Lumpkin (Greyhound)]]

* GagPenis: It's mentioned by Nadine in the side story ''Legacy'' that his appendage is ''huge''.
* MeaningfulName: A greyhound is one of the fastest dog breeds in the world.
* SuperSpeed: He's one of the fastest speedsters in the Magellan universe, able to get from Miami to New York in five minutes.
* TheCameo: Shows up at the end of Dr. Spooky and Otto just in time to miss all the action.

[[WMG: Carol Grace (Flambé)]]

* AstonishinglyAppropriateAppearance: Her tall, spiky, red hair makes it look like a flame.
* PlayingWithFire: As per her name would suggest, she has fire-based powers.

[[WMG: Gunther Horsley (Dr. Spooky)]]

A reservist member of Magellan USA, he's their resident expert on all things paranormal.

* AscendedExtra: Originally just a one-off gag, he eventually starred in his own mini-series.
* CoolCar: His 1950 Packard Henney Hearse is possessed by a demon named Otto.
* DarkIsNotEvil: He wears dark clothes and has tattoos all over his face, but really is a decent guy.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Stars in his own mini-series, Dr. Spooky and Otto, detailing his adventures.
* OccultDetective: What his day job tends to be.
* SaveTheVillain: Zigzagged. He's going to go back and save Hugo from Beelzebub, but when Hugo tries to sell out Otto, he changes his mind.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Euro Magellan]]

A Magellan branch with strict rules.

[[WMG: (Contessa Q)]]

An Italian superheroine who is the leader of Euro Magellan, she has the ability to use quantum lightning, hence the 'Q' in her codename, and fly extremely fast over short distances.

* FatalFlaw: She's far too confident in her team's ability to take on the Rarg and doesn't bother to gather proper intel from those already on the battlefield like Go!Anna before they engage them. The entire team ends up paying the price as the Rarg are so CrazyPrepared they've already anticipated all of the team's moves.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: She falls to her death when the Rarg hit her and Der Rote Verteidiger with the depowering ray while they're in mid-air.]]
* ScarsAreForever: She's got three parallel ones over her left eye.

[[WMG: (Edderkoppen)]]

* BilingualBonus: His codename means 'The Spider' in Danish.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Gets squashed by falling debris during the original timeline of the Rarg attack.]]

[[WMG: (Der Rote Verteidiger)]]

* BilingualBonus: His codename means 'The Red Defender' in German.
* FlyingBrick: His powerset.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Plunges to his death while flying in mid-air after the Rarg strip him and Contessa Q of their powers.]]

[[WMG: Zadie (Phlache)]]
A speedster who graduated from the same class that Vybe and The Man Who Can did.

* TheCameo: Appeared as a background character in both ''Legacy'' and ''The Things That Matter.'' Finally appears in the story proper in [=ParaRARGdox.=]
* OffWithHisHead: A variation on the trope, Phlanche only has [[spoiler: the ''front'' of her head ripped off during the crash of Euro Magellan's jet. It's still enough to kill her.]]

[[WMG: Hans (Healing Hans)]]
A non-combat member of Euro Magellan who works as their medic, his powers as his name suggest are those of a healer.

* HealingMagicIsTheHardest: His particular brand of healing involves drawing on the vitality of a person's alternate selves in other timelines, something that is extremely difficult to do.
* KilledOffForReal: [[Gets hit with a falling piece of debris in the original Rarg attack timeline hard enough to kill him just by hitting his head alone.]]
* PunnyName: Grace admitted she gave him the codename Healing Hans purely as a pun off the words "healing hands."

[[folder: International Justice Force/IJF]]

To see the current identities and tropes associated with the later versions of most of the IJF, look under Magellan Council. Only those who never appeared later in the storyline will be detailed here.

[[WMG: Magnus Magellan (Magellan)]]

The son of Victory Man and Lady Lariat, he was one of the first heroes to have superpowers. The academy and superhero organization are named after him.

* CodeName: Like Gola Beh, he went by his real name when crimefighting.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: He had blonde hair, all his teammates seemed to like him, and he was a true superhero.
* HeroicSacrifice: He likely knew that going into the portal to stop the Q'Arth demons would cost him his life. He went anyway.
* SuperStrongChild: His mother retired permanently from the hero business to raise her son because he had his powers from birth and proved to be quite a handful.
* LegacyCharacter: Both his parents were superheroes.
* NeverFoundTheBody: He was utterly obliterated when he collapsed the demonic portal. All his teammates found of him was shreds of his costume.

[[WMG: Yin Zang (Chinese Lantern 2)]]

* YouNoTakeCandle: If Glamour's mind-mojoed inner state is anything to go by, this was how he talked.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: The Victorious]]

The first generation of superheroes, they worked separately, but came together in WWII to fight the Nazis. More information about them can be found [[http://magellan.comicgenesis.com/magellan05.html here.]]

[[WMG: Lance Magellan (Victory-Man)]]

A police-officer who gained powers when an alien meteor crashed through his house. Fearing rejection when he found out he had superpowers, he donned a costume and became the world's first superhero. He was active from 1930-1959, when his nemesis the Evil Weevil was able to permanently nullify his powers. He married Lady Lariat in 1936 and they had a son, Magnus Magellan, in 1942. He was killed in a car crash in 1962 at age 52.

* CareerEndingInjury: He had been shot in the knee in the line of duty and was looking at working behind a desk for the rest of his life when he gained his powers.
* DePower: The reason why he retired.
* EagleLand: The look his costume was clearly meant to inspire.
* {{Expy}}: His costume and powers are both similar to the Golden-Age version of Superman.
* FlyingBrick: His power set was close enough to count. He couldn't fly, but he could leap great distances.

[[WMG: Black Hood]]

The most mysterious member of the Victorious, the real identity and final fate of this British superhero were never known. He worked from 1933-1955.

* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: He was reported to have great, but not inhuman, strength and speed.
* DarkIsNotEvil: His costume was a black hood and dark purple.
* {{Expy}}: For the Golden-Age version of Batman.
* NeverFoundTheBody: Though he never officially retired or was killed in the line of duty, he's most likely died of old age by the time the main story begins.

[[WMG: Helga Lasser (Lady Lariat)]]

A circus star inspired by stories of Victory-Man, she ran into him after busting up a crime. They fought in the Victorious together and eventually married. Her career lasted from 1932-1942. When she had their son Magnus, she effectively retired from crime-fighting to raise her family. She died in a car crash in 1962 at age 51.

* AmericansAreCowboys: What her costume was invoking. Justified, since she started out as a circus performer.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold
* PunnyName: Her last name, Lasser, sounds a lot like lasso.

[[WMG: Sally Young (Gizmo Girl/Gizmo Woman)]]

The youngest member of the Victorious at age 15, she invented gizmos such as an explosive yo-yo and a personal anti-gravity device. Not much of a fighter and never taken too seriously by her enemies, she retired at age 28 to raise her twin daughters, whom she claimed were fathered by Victory-Man. She published her autobiography in 1962.

The first half of her career lasted from 1942-1955. The second short-lived attempt as Gizmo Woman lasted from 1969-1972. Currently, at age 83, she makes a living out waring the costume to charity events and conventions.

* {{Expy}}: Her story reads like any number of goofy Golden-Age superheroes who have been tried to be revamped into something less silly.
* CloudCuckoolander: Claimed to have invented her gadgets by channeling the brain of a futuristic inventor from an alternate Earth. Um...
* ConsummateLiar: The other possible way to look at her outrageous claims.
* FormerChildStar: Her back-story certainly reads like any Hollywood tabloid.
* MamasBabyPapasMaybe: Her claim regarding her twins' parentage was never proven or disproven.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: She started off as a goofy superhero. Later on in life, she battled depression and an addiction to painkillers.

[[WMG: Jake Spanner (The Streaker)]]

A nude superhero with the powers of SuperSpeed. He was a biochemist who wanted to find the secret to invisibility and instead gained a different superpower. He was and still holds the record for being the fastest man alive, even among modern-day speedsters. His career lasted from 1938-1951, until his disappearance at age 39. He left a legacy that includes the Streaker Synergy, an energy field that can be accessed by speedsters to help them go faster when they run nude.

* {{Expy}}: Of the Golden-Age version of ComicBook/TheFlash. The Streaker Synergy appears to be a tribute to the Speed Force that speedsters in DC comics use.
* FullFrontalAssault: A necessity because he could never develop clothes immune to his super-speed.
* LegacyCharacter: The Fast Club pays tribute to him by running nude during their private meetings, since he was the first and fastest.
* NakedPeopleAreFunny
* NeverFoundTheBody: He disappeared while running around the world after being rejected for his nudity one too many times and was never seen again.
* PleasePutSomeClothesOn: Many people found his nudity discomforting, but any clothes he put on would burst into flames with how fast he ran.
* ProfessorGuineaPig: He tested chemical cocktails on his body until they turned him into a speedster.

[[WMG: Barry Duke (Knuckle Duster)]]

An ex-gangster, he lost his family in a mob hit and subsequently became a superhero. His career lasted from 1938-1957. He died at age 44 from a gunshot during a bust on a gang of weapons dealers.

* TheAtoner: He used to be a gangster until he lost his family in a hit.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: He was rumored to be fast enough to punch bullets out of the air with his knuckle dusters.
* {{Expy}}: Of ComicBook/ThePunisher.
* KilledOffForReal: The only member of the Victorious to die in the line of duty.
* ShapedLikeItself: His codename.

[[WMG: Deng Xuan (Chinese Lantern 1)]]

Fascinated by the idea of the Red Light, which could only be harnessed by the greatest practictioners of the Golden Lotus martial art, he trained for many years before accomplishing his goal. One of the longest serving superheroes, his career lasted from 1942-1988. Currently, he's 95, though quite frail and not completely mentally stable.

* {{Expy}}: Of most token "ethnic characters" that Golden-Age comics had.
* KungFuWizard: His whole power set.
* ShrugOfGod: Crowley has stated that most of the information about Xuan has been privately retconned into two different characters, as she felt one man having a career that long and serving on two teams was unrealistic. Until officially announced in the comics, both characters are being put on the character page. Made even more confusing is that the current cadet to carry on the legacy, Lee Wu, mentions being trained by a "Master Yang", which is neither of the previous Chinese Lanterns' names.
* TraumaticSuperpowerAwakening: His powers activated when he and many of his townsfolk were trapped under a landslide. He used his powers to save them all.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Chroners/[[spoiler:Future Force]]]]

A group of heroes from the [[spoiler: alternate]] future. [[spoiler: They are made up of present-day cadets and are all that is left of that world's group of heroes. The rest were killed in an explosion trying to stop Miasma and [=DragonKlaw=]. Once they apprehend Miasma, they go home, but not before meeting with their present-day selves to give them some much needed advice.]] All other spoilers about the team will be unmarked.

[[WMG: Maverick]]

A future version of the cadet Kaycee Jones, she eventually executed Alan Brunton, the man who had previously kidnapped her and killed her older sister, after he kidnapped and killed her mother. Force Magellan kicked her out of the organization. She continued to work alone until a villain named Boilerplate burned her face severely. Rochelle developed a life-support system in her mask so she could continue working as a superhero.

* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: Kaycee has been a superhero for years by this point, so she's able to hold her own against superpowered individuals even more so than present-day Kaycee.
* FutureMeScaresMe: The present version of Kaycee has some serious contemplating to do when she sees what her future might hold.
* KilledOffForReal: Subverted. It appears she's been killed off, but it turns out it was only one of Maya's illusions.
* TattooAsCharacterType: The Organizational Emblem kind. She got the Magellan symbol tattooed on her arm after they kicked her out, saying that they couldn't take away her right to wear it.
* VigilanteMan: Her modus operandi.

[[WMG: Speedlines]]

A future version of the cadet Nadine Turner. Her powers have grown in the years since she was a cadet and she's become even faster.

* DreadlockWarrior: A milder example than most of the trope. She's still the same sweet girl, but she's become a much more proficient superhero.
* OneWayVisor: She has an opaque visor built into her helmet by Rochelle so that she can go unnoticed by anyone who knows in in the present.
* TookALevelInBadass: Justified, given all the training she's been through.

[[WMG: Victory-Man II]]
A future version of the cadet Billy Banks.

[[WMG: Thorn]]
A future version of the cadet Montana-Rose Touchwood.

* ILetGwenStacyDie: As if almost all her universe's superheroes dying wasn't enough, she's unable to rescue Chang from the portal.
* MyGreatestFailure: Montant-Rose blames herself completely for not being able to get all the superheroes out of the blast zone caused by the portal collapsing. She tried, but was too panicked to cast the proper spell, and only got the six we meet in the storyline out in time. She carries the guilt for the others, possibly numbering in the hundreds, who died.

[[WMG: Psi-Jector]]
A future version of the cadet Mudge Wilson. He lost the pudge he had as a teen and learned how to control his powers with tutoring from Gola Beh.

* FormerlyFat: He lost quite a bit of weight during all his training at the academy. His present-day self marvels that he has the potential to become that buff.
* FutureMeScaresMe: Inverted. Even with Psi-Jector in a coma, Mudge is absolutely ecstatic to see that he becomes a fit badass in the future.
* HeroicSacrifice: He uses his powers to read an entire building, something he'd never attempted before. He got the information the team needed, but it was too much for him. He went into a coma and it's left ambiguous as to whether or not he'll ever wake up from it.
* PsychicNosebleed: A classic psychic overload example as he tries to read an entire ''building'' to get the information from [=DragonKlaw=], who is somewhere within it. He starts bleeding from the nose, eyes, and mouth as it takes a toll on his mind to filter all the thoughts out.
* TookALevelInBadass: He overcame his issues with having pain when he used his powers and can now focus them in on something as small as a hair.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: When the Chroners go back to their own universe, Mudge is still in a coma. Since the two universes are unlikely to interact again, it's possible we'll never know if he recovered.

[[WMG: Mongrel]]
A future version of Brelvis.

* ButterflyOfDoom: This version of Brelvis was trained by Wombat-Man on the streets of Sydney instead of being trained as a Magellan cadet. He also doesn't meet Kaycee again until they are both adults.
* ShapedLikeItself: His codename.

[[WMG: Others]]

Several other superheroes are mentioned, including future versions of Jemima Castlemaine (Gothika), Rochelle Kwan, and Charisma Epoch.

* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Miasma brainwashed Gothika with her illusions to open the portal. Unfortunately, she wasn't strong enough, and the portal collapsed.
* HeelFaceTurn: Two of the rudest and most unlikable cadets, Rochelle and Charisma, eventually became trusted, valuable allies of Magellan.
* ImportantHaircut: Charisma underwent one gaining a short, pixie haircut, around the same time she and Kaycee became friends.
* KilledOffForReal: Most of the superheroes of their world, including Charisma, Rochelle, Gifford, Jemima, V'ries, and Janice.
* ReedRichardsIsUseless: Averted. Rochelle invented many useful devices, including the life-support in Maverick's mask, the opaque visor Speedlines uses, and the devices the team uses to cancel out Miasma's illusions.

* SecretTestOfCharacter: [[spoiler: She acts as this to see if Nadine will stop them and complete her run in time.]]

One of the non-human speedsters in the club, Speed Demon is, as one would suppose, a demon.

* OurDemonsAreDifferent: He's got a completely different design and power set than the other prominently featured demons at Magellan, the Forn.
* VisualPun: His code name speaks for itself.

[[WMG: Velociraptor]]

A talking dinosaur member of the club.

* SecondarySexualCharacteristics: Seems to be lacking [[ShownTheirWork any]], leaving it unclear if they are male or female.
* VisualPun: Like Speed Demon, it's rather obvious how they got their code name.

[[WMG: Faster Than:]]

[[WMG: Need For Speed]]

[[WMG: Deusa de Velocidade]]

A Portuguese superheroine who is one of the main members who are encouraging Nadine.

* BilingualBonus: Her code name means 'Goddess of Speed.'
* MostCommonSuperpower: One of the few straight examples in the webcomic.

[[WMG: Baron Velocity]]

[[WMG: Electric Sloth]]

* SuperSpeed: He's got a variation on the power. Unlike the other speedsters, he's super fast when using his powers. Otherwise, he's very slow.

[[WMG: Doctor Dart]]

He acts as a [[spoiler: Character Assassin during Nadine's run to test her]] along with Jade Arrow.

[[WMG: Tachyon Beam]]

[[WMG: Fastest Man]]

* AllBikersAreHellsAngels: His costume seems to invoke this trope.

[[WMG: Cô Gái Nhanh Chóng]]

A Vietnamese female speedster.

* BilingualBonus: Her named simply means [[ShapedLikeItself 'Fast Girl'.]]

[[WMG: Rouge Rapide]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Villains]]
[[WMG:Master Drake]]
A mysterious warlock who plans to use a set of {{Mac Guffin}}s to open a portal to a demon planet.

* BaldOfEvil: He combines this with long hair, somehow.
* CurbStompBattle: Go!Anna never had a chance against him, and only managed to drive him off just because Brelvis pulled a BigDamnHeroes...and he still was able to get the MacGuffin he was after.
* GreaterScopeVillain: While other villains are more active (he's only directly appeared once), he's the greatest threat by far. The entire first story arc was just cleaning up the spillover from the failed efforts of his alternate timeline counterpart.
* SophisticatedAsHell: This is how he talks.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Hasn't been seen in the comics in over ten years real time and at least two in-universe.

[[WMG:[=DragonKlaw=]]]
An alternate timeline version of the student [[spoiler: Chang Chong,]] he turned to villainy after getting expelled from Magellan. Eventually, he and Miasma attempted to ascend to a higher plane in a plan that almost destroyed [[spoiler: both the alternate and original Earths.]]

* AndIMustScream: His final fate, same as his younger alternate self.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Played With. He clearly loves Miasma, but not as much to a degree as she loves him. He also denies loving his still-living parents and sisters.
* FormerlyFit: He was a muscular and good-looking teen, but became bloated and fat over time. This is revealed to be a consequence of taking too much of the addictive magical drug Diablo.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: In his timeline, he became far more dangerous than any other villain.
* NotQuiteDead: [[spoiler: In a botched attempt to get Chang back, [=DragonKlaw=] was able to hitch a ride as a spirit parasite in Montana-Rose's body. Despite his attempt for more power and to regain a physical body, he's defeated, and the fragment of his soul is destroyed permanently.]]
* StartOfDarkness: He got used as an UnwittingPawn by Master Drake in his timeline, which got him and Miasma expelled from Magellan. They fell into crime soon after.

[[WMG:Miasma]]

An alternate timeline version of the student [[spoiler: Maya Applecross]], she's the lover of [=DragonKlaw=] and his partner in crime.

* BitchInSheepsClothing: As [[spoiler: Karma Joffe.]]
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: She is shown to clearly be in love with [=DragonKlaw=] and is devastated when he ends up stuck in a portal, neither alive or dead.
* FormerlyFat: She was a husky young teen, but after all the training at the academy, she develops a svelte and muscular form.
* SassyBlackWoman: She occasionally falls into snarky, attitude-filled commentary.
* StoryBreakerPower: A villainous example, Miasma can use her powers of illusion-casting on anyone to escape almost any situation. Not even telepaths have minds strong enough to keep her powers at bay. As it turns out, the only person she doesn't have a defense against is [[spoiler: herself. Younger Maya claims she's the easiest mind-mojo she's ever done.]]
* VainSorceress: She's very proud of how she blossomed from a fat teenager into a beautiful woman. Kaycee even uses this to distract her for a few moments when she's being mind-mojoed.

[[WMG: Cassie Bloom]]

A braggart and self-centered security guard for Magellan. She's got sand powers.

* BaldOfEvil: [[spoiler: She ends up without any hair at all when reformed, and she's a selfish braggart who tries to murder a teenager.]]
* BullyingADragon: She approaches Maya at the worst possible time, right when she's still mourning [[spoiler: Chang's death and thinking about her future self Miasma.]] What Cassie gets for her efforts is stuck in a hellscape with demons torturing her. Maya threatens to make it permanent if Cassie doesn't do exactly as she says.
* CameBackWrong: Technically close to death after part of her sand gets zapped into glass, they theorize that she might be missing some body parts when they reform her, since they can't replace the sand. [[spoiler: They're right.]]
* DishingOutDirt: As it turns out, there's various types of sand using super-powered individuals. Cassie gets lucky when part of her is fused into glass in that they don't need to place ''every grain'' in a specific pattern to reform her. They can just dump what's left in a heap and run a current through her to reform, fingers crossed that the missing part of her won't be her heart or an essential organ.
* FaceHeelTurn: She was originally a security guard on Magellan Island, if not a terribly good one. After Maya uses some mind mojo on her, she leaves, and plots revenge on the teen. She actually almost kills her, but is stopped just in time, and is incarcerated at Locke Island once it's revealed she tried to kill a teenage girl for petty reasons.
* ItsAllAboutMe: This is probably why she never got into the academy more than anything else. Cassie is incapable of thinking about anyone but herself.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: While she doesn't take [[spoiler: no longer having defined fingers or toes too well, she only really hits the roof when she discovers her hair is gone too.]]
* MilesGloriosus: She brags about how great she would have been as a superhero if she'd gotten into the academy. Then when she has the chance to prove herself when [=DragonKlaw==] attacks the island with his dragons, she turns into sand instead to hide.

[[WMG: Evil Weevil]]
A supervillain that has been around since the very start of the superhero era in the 30s. Originally a foe of Victory-Man, he's still a dangerous threat.

* OlderThanTheyLook: He fought the original Victory-Man in the 30s, which means he has to be pushing one-hundred years old. Yet he's still going strong and is a frequent foe of Force Magellan.
* WasOnceAMan: WordOfGod is that he was once a human being before an accident mutated him into the Weevil.

[[WMG: Minion Bug]]
Originally human, Evil Weevil uses a gas to mutate them into henchmen.

[[WMG: Q'Arth Demons]]

[[EldritchAbomination Eldritch Ambominations]] from another dimension. They threatened to destroy the planet before Magellan (the original super hero) performed a HeroicSacrifice.

* ZergRush: The reason they were so hard to fight is that the longer the portal that let them through was open, the more came through.

[[WMG: Alan Brunton]]

A creepy serial killer who targeted Kaycee and her sister Alexis when they were children. Go!Anna rescued Kaycee in time, but not her sister, and he was imprisoned.

* EvilClown: Always shown wearing a creepy clown mask.
* SplitPersonality: It turns out Brunton has at least two personallities, one pretty normal and the other a murderous obsessive psycophath.
* WouldHurtAChild: He kills Alexis before he's stopped by Go!Anna.

[[WMG: Red Path Ninjas]]

[[WMG: Sista Superior (Augustina)]]
A religious-themed supervillainess who has fought many superheroes, including Micra, Epoch, and Charisma. She's mainly featured in a side story where she crashed one of Charisma's concerts.
* GenuineHumanHide: During ''[=ParaRARGdox=]'', she killed (thankfully offscreen) [[spoiler: Tros and Dane]] and wore their skins for modesty.
* HeroKiller: [[spoiler:In one version of the timeline]], She kills [[spoiler: Freya, Justine, Ken, Tom, Tros and Brelvis, along with several cadets and staff]] durng the course of ''[=ParaRARGdox=].'' Micra only barely survives her encounter with her and it forces her to retire from superheroing.
* KnightTemplar: She is obsessed with killing "sinners". Her idea of "sinner" is basically "everybody."
* MadeofIron: She's very, ''very'' tough and it takes throwing everything but the kitchen sink at her to get her to stay down.
* MySuitIsAlsoSuper: Averted. Despite being able to take a lot of damage herself, her nun outfit is no sturdier than regular clothing. A running gag in the first half of [=ParaRARGdox=] is that she keeps losing more and more bits of it until she's entirely naked.
* NunTooHoly: Dresses in a nun's habit with ripped sleeves and murders "sinners."

[[WMG: Master Assassin (Wolfgang Kruger)]]

An insane and very {{Meta}} man who believes the world around him is fiction and that by killing off 'characters' in the story that he gets closer to finding out who the Creator of the world is. He's identified Vertigo as the main character to be assassinated. [[spoiler: Later, he decides it is Kaycee.]]

* BewareTheSillyOnes: His motivation for villainy is pure {{Meta}} humor. However, he and his assassins have killed many people. Even more sinister, he's able to manipulate vulnerable people into joining his cause [[spoiler: - it's implied that he did it to the prison guard assigned to him.]]
* BodyHorror: Cut off his nose, ears, and genitals in an attempt to alter the storyline.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Does this quite a bit since he already thinks he's in a story, mostly by addressing the audience reading the webcomic.
* SanitySlippage: Seems coherent enough during his first chronological appearance on a talk show...right before he pulls out a gun and blows the host away.
* TakingYouWithMe: When in his mindscape, seeing his unaltered self to be the Creator, he decides to kill both of them to escape it all. He's stuck in a loop of this until Brainspike snaps him out of it.

[[WMG: Character Assassins]]

The minions in the cult of the Master Assassin. They are generally the ones who carry out the killings.

* CatchPhrase: "The character [Insert name] has been eliminated from the story."
* EarlyBirdCameo: They show up in Tom's nightmare caused by Miasma, having eliminated Freya.
* FaceHeelTurn: [[spoiler: One of the guards on Locke Island turns out to be one, trying to eliminate Vertigo after her son is killed during a riot by a supervillain.]]
* TheMole: [[spoiler: The guard on Locke Island.]]

[[WMG: The Baxter Gang]]

A gang that got their powers from some advanced tech. They're meant to be villainous [[{{Expy}} expies]] of the ComicBook/FantasticFour. There's Jimbo Powers (Stretch), Vanessa Powers-Villas (Vanishing Vanessa), Micky Villas (Fireball), and Harry Gale (Clobber).

* FatBastard: In a contrast to the usual firepowered super, Fireball is quite stout, so much so he can't even fly like most fire-powered characters.
* BrotherSisterTeam: Vanessa and Micky.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: While they may not give a damn about anyone else, they seem to be a gang of evil TrueCompanions. Vanessa is devastated when Brainspike causes Stretch a ton of pain by mentally controlling him.
* HeroKiller: Almost. If it had been anyone less tough then Wombat-Man, they would have been dead, and even he had a close call.
* {{Invisibility}}: Vanessa's powers as an {{Expy}} for the Invisible Woman.
* PlayingWithFire: Micky's power set as he's the {{Expy}} for the Human Torch.
* PowerPerversionPotential: Stretch uses his powers forms a noose to {{Troll}} the Magellan cadets when they visit Locke Island. And then they realize just ''what'' part of his anatomy he used to make it...
* PunnyName: Vanessa and Micky's last name Villas sounds a lot like the word villain.
* RubberMan: Jimbo's powers as the {{Expy}} for Mr. Fantastic.
* ShoutOut: The uniforms Brainspike gives them in the astral plane are a direct homage to the Fantastic Four. Stretch doesn't like them however, calling them "damn poofy."
* SuperStrength: Being an {{Expy}} of The Thing, this and a graphite exterior are Harry's powers.
* UnholyMatrimony: Jimbo and Vanessa are unrepentant villains and also happily married.

[[WMG: [[spoiler: Prof. George Lonsdale (Spongeface)]] ]]

A MadScientist who also happens to be [[spoiler:Brelvis' father. He experimented on people and turned them into the Hybrids. When one of them tries to kill him, it's revealed he experimented on himself too. The mutation consumes him until all that is left is a barely-sentient sponge.]]

* BaldOfEvil: He's got only a small amount of hair left and is one of the most evil villains encountered.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: He seems like a harmless, affable family man, when underneath he's a sociopath who destroyed several lives in the name of science.
* EarlyBirdCameo: He appears alongside his wife in the early chapters as [[spoiler: Brian's parents, concerned when he turns himself into Brelvis. Or so he appeared to be]]
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Averted. He doesn't care one whit about his son or wife.
* IHaveNoSon: [[spoiler: He declares Brelvis to be nothing more than a freak of nature to him.]]
* FromNobodyToNightmare: He started off as a backyard scientist and turned into an utter MadScientist nutcase.
* LaughingMad [[spoiler: His ultimate fate. Even when Brainspike scans his mind during Lock(e)down, all he finds is Lonsdale laughing like a loon with the sponge tightly holding him in place.]]
* SanitySlippage: He starts off as your typical Mad Scientist, albeit one smart enough to invent an entirely new way to fuse species. But the further time goes on the more it is apparent that his mind jumped out the window a long time ago.
* WasOnceAMan: [[spoiler: He ends up mutating into an alien sponge.]]

[[WMG: The Hybrids]]

Created by [[spoiler: Prof. Lonsdale]], they were once ordinary people before being experimented on, creating half-human, half-animal monsters. [[spoiler: And some alien DNA in there for good measure.]] Their names are Morgana Maxwell, Roy Flagg, Grey Little (Bunyip), and Alice Mann (Malice).

* AlliterativeName: Morgana's first and last name begin with M.
* AndIMustScream: Malice's inner mindscape is revealed to be Alice, naked and covered in spiders, screaming for help while the spiders crawling over her keep saying "Meat" over and over again.
* BattleInTheCenterOfTheMind: Grey's mindscape in ''Lock(e)down'' is revealed to be his human self battling the two animals, a crocodile and Tasmanian devil, that he was combined with. He's putting up a good fight until Brainspike forcibly combines them again.
* CodeName: While most of them keep their names as a way to remember that they're still human on some level, Alice changes her name to Malice because she's no longer in control. The spiders are.
** Grey gets nicknamed Bunyip, a mythological Australian creature, and it sticks.
* HalfHumanHybrid: They were all fused with various monsters, but the animal to human proportions are played out in disturbing ways.
* HighHeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: Morgana turns on the rest of the Hybrids about halfway through the story.]]
* HiveMind: Unlike the other Hybrids, who were fused with only one or two animals, Malice came of the result from hundreds of spiders being fused with one woman. She's completely drowned out by all their voices.
* ImAHumanitarian: Since part of them is still very much human, they're engaging in cannibalism when they eat people.
* MindManipulation: Malice's venom can make people obey her when spat onto their faces.
* OutOfFocus: In comparison to the others, who get a decent amount of characterization, Roy is just sort of...there, in the background, as someone else for the heroes to fight.
* SpeechImpairedAnimal: Morgana has the tendency for her R's to keep on rolling, possibly because of her mouth and teeth shape.
* {{Sssssnaketalk}}: Roy hisses out his S's.
* TragicMonster: Yes, they've done some horrible things, but after all the trauma they've been through, it's hard not to sympathize a little with them.
* UnsettlingGenderReveal: Throughout the chapter of ''Worst Field Trip Ever'', readers kept asking what would happen if the species that were crossed were of opposite sexes. [[spoiler: Morgana revealed that this is what happened to her, being fused with a male rat. While nothing explicit is shown, it's enough to get Brelvis to stop hitting on her. This is all if she didn't say that just to make Brelvis stop being annoying.]]
* YankTheDogsChain: After observing their inner minds, Brainspike notes it would be easy for him to separate the human and animal sides to give them some peace, since he is a skilled telepath. Since Brainspike is a [[ItsAllAboutMe self-centered]] little {{Jerkass}}, instead he fuses the animal and human sides together again to form minions.
* YouDirtyRat: Morgana was partially fused with a rat. [[spoiler: Possibly a ''male'' rat.]]
* YourDaysAreNumbered: Their mad scientist creator infused self-destruct DNA into them, ensuring that they wouldn't be around for long. When this activates, part of their motivation is to get him to reverse this.

[[WMG: Gaius]]

A man who had his mind embedded into a stable energy pattern. He outlived everything, including the end of his universe, leaving him alone in the dark for countless centuries. He tried to possess Epoch, but was foiled by Mindmistress and Rochelle.

* GrandTheftMe: Being made of energy, he can possess anyone.
* LogicalWeakness: A man left alone in the dark for centuries understandably freaks out when the lights are abruptly turned off.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Mindmistress promises to go back for him once she can find a way to keep him from possessing people....and nothing is heard about him since. With the passing of Mindmistress' creator Al, it's possible this is one plot thread that will never be followed up on.

[[WMG: The Rolf]]

A villainous group of humanoids from Gifford's world. He manages to strand a group of them in between worlds to save his village, but ends up getting separated from his home world in the process.

* OurOrcsAreDifferent: A pretty standard version of the orc. Big, tusked, and marauding helpless villages.

[[WMG: Vera Salt]]
A woman in the 1500s who unleashed a genie that granted her wishes in a sideways fashion. She's lived to the present day by siphoning years off of old people.

* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: Her first wish of "wanting to be younger" caused her to continuously age backwards. Her second wish allowed her to control the condition, but only at the cost of draining years off from others, erasing their memories in the process. The third wish of "wanting to be free" [[spoiler: killed her.]]
* [[spoiler:KilledOffForReal:]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: She's well over five-hundred years old.

[[WMG: Valerie Zajax (Vlax)]]
An old supervillainess from the 50s, she was responsible for permanently blinding Gola Beh. She was imprisoned on Locke Island and served out fifty-two life sentences. In the present day, she's an old woman dying of cancer.

* CardboardPrison: Averted. Unless it is revealed in the future that she somehow escaped at some point, it appears that Vlax has been contained on Locke Island ever since she was sentenced.
* CoolAndUnusualPunishment: For someone who permanently shattered the minds of over fifty-two people, dying of cancer is a fitting end.
* GoodThingYouCanHeal: The only reason she's still alive after Nitro-Man blasts her.
* MindRape: She feeds off the angst and misery in a person's mind to power her up, but doing so permanently shatters their psyche, leaving them with irreversible cognitive damage.
* NotSoHarmless: After whatever is affecting Locke Island gets done with her, she's even more powerful than ever before.
* UnexplainedRecovery: An In-Universe example. [[spoiler: Somehow, [=DragonKlaw's=] ghost putting everyone on the astral plane cured her cancer.]]

[[WMG: Hugo Proctor]]

An occulist who fakes his own death for nefarious purposes.

* DirtyCoward: Plenty willing to sic demons on people, but turning into a sniveling coward the minute he doesn't have the upper hand.
* EvilOldFolks: He's got to be in his seventies at the least and serves a demonic master.
* GroinAttack: The victim of one courtesy of Nina.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Tries to sacrifice Dr. Spooky, Otto, and Nina. Last seen screaming his head off running away from his furious master.
* TattooedCrook: He's got a pentagram tattooed on his bald spot.

[[WMG: Beelzebub]]

Otto's former demon master.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Alternately spelled Beelzeb and Beelzebub throughout the story.

[[WMG: G'Röthr]]

Another demon in Hell and a rival of Beelzebub. The master of Hugo Proctor.

* HarmlessVillain: He might be a demon lord, but he's rather pathetic. xmung even designed him to look as such.
* SpeechImpediment: He has a very pronounced lisp.

[[WMG: The Rarg]]

A species of extremely xenophobic aliens. Capable of psychically gleaning information off of other lifeforms.

* CrazyPrepared: They come to Earth with tech tailor made to stop the heroes in their tracks and give them the biggest possible advantage.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Accidentally wander into their territory? They will attack, they won't stop until you or they are dead, and if you die and they live, they'll take things a step further and ''blow up your home planet.''
* TheDreaded: Their hostility is well known. So much so that in addition to the humans, three aliens of different races are shown to know full well of the danger they pose.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Other Characters]]

[[WMG: Annie Summers (Go!Anna)]]

A superhero who saved a young Kaycee Jones from Al Brunton, subsequently becoming her idol. She was dating Wombat-Man until Brelvis spilled the beans about Luke and Captain Victoria cheating behind her back. Since then, she's been training Brelvis to become a cadet, though she worries she may have lost sight of how to still be an active superhero. [[spoiler: In the alternate future, Epoch never saved the plane she was on, resulting in her death.]]

* ButterflyOfDoom: [[spoiler: Not dying]] caused a great many changes in the [[spoiler: main timeline.]]
* ClarkKenting: One of her favorite disguises is "Sister Annie", a classic Catholic nun get-up, since it's one of the only ways she can hide all of her unusual attributes like her tail and spots.
* GogglesDoSomethingUnusual: Her costume is equipped with a pair that have come in handy more than once.
* LizardFolk: She's built like a real lizard, complete with spots along her body, elongated fingers and toes that can stick to objects, and a tail.
* MyGreatestFailure: She still feels guilt over not being able to save both Jones sisters on her first real mission.
* RetiredBadass: She worries that she's becoming this, though keeps insisting it's just a TenMinuteRetirement. [[spoiler: Finally gets back in the game at the end of Lock(e)down as a member of Force Magellan.]]

[[WMG: Luke [=McDonald=] (Wombat-Man)]]

A superhero who was expelled from Magellan before he could complete his six years, Luke has been on the sidelines after a severe injury. His relationship with Annie became strained and then broke once he cheated on her. They later made up to the point of becoming friends. [[spoiler: In the alternate universe, he became so shocked upon Annie's death that he never cheated with Captain Victoria. Instead, he took a young Brelvis in and trained him to become Mongrel.]]

* TheAtoner: [[spoiler: Implied to be his role in the alternate timeline as penance for never repairing his relationship with Annie before she died.]]
* CareerEndingInjury: Almost suffered one at the hands of the Baxter Gang.
* JerkassHasAPoint: While he may be rude about it, he points out that Kaycee and Alexis being kidnapped is a classic case of MissingWhiteWomanSyndrome and that the police wouldn't be nearly as concerned if it was two Aboriginal kids that had been kidnapped. That being said, Annie points out it's still not good to sit on the sidelines while the girls are in danger.
* TheJuggernaut: Almost indestructible and described as being impossible to stop once gaining momentum.
* LeeroyJenkins: He almost never pays attention to anyone trying to help him, instead just charging into the fray.
* MadeOfIron: The only reason he survived his injuries from the Baxter Gang. Much to Annie's consternation, this extends to when she tries to beat him up after finding out he's been cheating on her.
* WhatDoesSheSeeInHim: It's not entirely clear just ''why'' Go!Anna stuck with him for so many years when he was a rude, self-centered, cheating sleazeball.
* WhereDoesHeGetAllThoseWonderfulToys: He's able to afford things like Go!Anna's cycle and his Wombat Cave through using his reward money for capturing criminals and the stock market.

[[WMG: Moz Vostok Ffnnff (Vostok)]]

A very powerful psychic alien who has a special connection with Kaycee after saving her from Miasma.

* AccidentalMurder: He was originally locked up because he killed an astronaut that first made contact with him. He later reveals this was a complete accident since he had never encountered a human being before and didn't understand how his powers affected their minds.
* FunetikAksent: He haz a verry thick vone.
* GodzillaThreshold: Despite knowing he has BlueAndOrangeMorality when it comes to human beings, he's brought in when all the inhabitants of Locke Island are affected by an unknown psychic entity, since he's one of the only psychics powerful enough not to be affcted.
* PetTheDog: He might be dismissive of most human beings, but after extensively being in Kaycee's mind and helping her, he has a very big soft spot for her. He didn't care about coming back to Earth to help in ''Lock(e)down'' until it was mentioned she was in danger.
* StarfishAliens: He essentially is a space cucumber, requiring a tank of water to live in order to survive.

[[WMG: Bugle]]
A [[WordOfGod very mutated]] human living in the sewers of Australia, he has psychic powers and is friends with Go!Anna.

* BarbieDollAnatomy: Despite wearing no clothes, there's no male attributes to speak of when one looks at him. Might be justified since his lower half is built much more like a snake than a human being.
* BeastMan: He's a giant albino snake-man that also glows.
* BizarreTasteInFood: He loves eating the rats in the sewers.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: He's rather lonely since most people freak out upon seeing his appearance. He's grateful that Go!Anna likes him to the point where he helps her on her cases.

[[WMG: Dr Kosta Philos]]
A doctor used by Magellan to treat their superheroes.

* NonstandardCharacterDesign: He's drawn in a much more cartoony style, with over-exaggerated eyes and a mustache, than most of the cast.

[[WMG: Dr Akuti Chandra]]

* HealingHands: Like almost all doctors that specialize in superheroes in this world, her superpower is healing.
* ImprobableHairstyle: She somehow forms it up into a perfect spiraled beehive. It does eventually come tumbling down after Gaius questions her rather roughly, showing an impressive amount of CompressedHair.

[[WMG: Webcomic/{{Mindmistress}} (Lorelei Lyons)]]
A superheroine who crosses over from her homeworld to tutor Rochelle.

* BrainyBrunette
* DramaticIrony: The smartest character in both worlds has an alter ego who's mentally retarded. Lampshaded by Rochelle when she finds out.
* PoweredArmor: Her armor increases her strength and provides a velocity redirection field that fends off bullets.

[[WMG: Hendra Lapot]]

[[WMG: Mr Moss]]

[[WMG: Jane Macey]]

[[WMG: Dianne Bates]]

Detective Bates is the friendly police contact for Go!Anna. She secretly has X-ray vision that she uses to help her on cases. She's killed by a ninja who's after an artifact Go!Anna has.

* TheCommissionerGordon: For Go!Anna. In ''The Things That Matter'', it's shown that the relationship was a bit rocky at the start, due to Go!Anna's involvement with Wombat-Man.
* EveryoneWentToSchoolTogether: She, Annie, and Freya all went to the same school. Justified, as there's only one school for powered individuals, regardless of whether or not they're going into superheroics.
* WeHardlyKnewYe

[[WMG: George Arsino]]

Detective Bates' partner, he's much less-inclined to be helpful and friendly towards superheroes, seeing them as a nuisance towards regular law enforcement.

* CareerEndingInjury: He had his hands both lopped off by a ninja. While he appeared in a cameo at Dianne's funeral with them surgically reattached, he hasn't been seen since.
* FantasticRacism: Hates superheroes in a world where they've been a part of every-day life since the 1930s.
* TookALevelInJerkass: In the prequel story The Things That Matter, he's shown not to be nearly so bigoted, but that's also because his direct superior is a complete {{Jerkass}} and utter moron.

[[WMG: Bart Mort]]

[[WMG: Otto Nacht of Fassbender]]

Otto's a Fassbender demon who's inhabiting Dr. Spooky's hearse to hide from his former demon master.

* BreathWeapon: He can breathe fire in his demon form.
* CuteMonsterBoy: He doesn't look nearly as monstrous as the other demons in the strip, instead looking little and bovine-inspired.
* GratuitousForeignLanguage: Occasionally lapses into German.
* MadeOfIron: All pun potential aside, Otto can use the hearse as a weapon without getting it damaged at all.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: For one, he can possess a hearse. While possessed, he can make the hearse drive itself and fly.
* PunnyName: His name sounds like 'auto' and he possesses a car.

[[WMG: Dr Ursula Lumpkin]]

[[WMG: Alexis Jones]]

Kaycee Jones' older sister. Killed by Alan Brunton before the start of the story.

* ILetGwenStacyDie: Though she was a child at the time, Kaycee still harbors guilt that she was the one to survive instead of Alexis.
* NeckSnap: If Kaycee's nightmares are accurate, this is how she died.

[[WMG: Nina Svelte]]

A funeral director who ends up being taken on an adventure with Dr. Spooky and Otto.

* DamselOutOfDistress: When she's captured by a demon, she doesn't wait for a rescue. Instead, she starts whacking the demon with a bone until it lets her go.
* FieryRedhead: She may be out of her element being dragged to Hell, but she's not going to turn into a quivering mess.
* ShipTease: With Dr. Spooky.

[[WMG: Vladimir "Vlad" Tereshkov (Red Vlad]]

One of Russia's first superheroes along with Comrade Katya, he was given abilities from the same space rock that gave Victory-Man his powers. He's also the father of Epoch.

* DoomedByCanon: Their story becomes all the more tragic since it already revealed that they died during the Q'arth invasion during the first arc of the comic.
* FlyingBrick: His powerset.
* NotSoInvincibleAfterAll: Learns this fact fatally as a Q'arth demon sneaks up on him and stabs him through the chest.
* OrphanageOfLove: Apparently he grew up in one and puts his son Vlad there to keep him safe from the government that wants to experiment on him.
* TrumanShowPlot: All the villains they fight are cooked up in a lab by the government, giving them no real combat experience to rely on when the Q'arth demon invasion happens.
