[[folder:Morning Musume]]
!!Morning Musume (Morning Musume '17)
Morning Musume is HelloProject's founding act and flagship group, hailing its commercial successes all the way back to 1998. The founding members were finalists in a competition to be the female vocalist for Tsunku's band, Sharan Q.

The current members consist of:

* Mizuki Fukumura (leader), 9th generation
* Erina Ikuta (sub-leader), 9th generation
* Haruna Iikubo (sub-leader), 10th generation
* Ayumi Ishida, 10th generation
* Masaki Sato, 10th generation
* Haruka Kudo, 10th generation
* Sakura Oda, 11th generation
* Haruna Ogata, 12th generation
* Miki Nonaka, 12th generation
* Maria Makino, 12th generation
* Akane Haga, 12th generation
* Kaede Kaga, 13th generation
* Reina Yokoyama, 13th generation
* Chisaki Morito, 14th generation (also a member of Country Girls)

!!Tropes shared by Morning Musume:

* AbsenteeActor: Masaki Sato was absent from the "Brand New Morning / Jealousy Jealousy" A-sides due to recovering from a herniated lumbar disc. (She's still present on the B-sides, which were recorded before her diagnosis.)
* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: The lyrics in "Sexy Boy ~Soyokaze ni Yorisotte~" imply this.
* AnimeThemeSong: "Ima Koko Kara", one of the songs from their 58th single, is being used as the theme for ''[[Anime/PrettyCureAllStars Pretty Cure All Stars: Spring Carnival]]''.
* AntiLoveSong: "Shabondama" and "Kanashimi Twilight".
* AscendedExtra: Members are usually recruited through auditions, but Linlin, Mizuki Fukumura, Haruka Kudo, Sakura Oda, Akane Haga and Maria Makino were originally part of Hello Pro Eggs/Kenshuusei, the trainee program in HelloProject, prior to joining.
* {{Bifauxnen}}: Hitomi Yoshizawa. Goes to gigantic proportions in "Mr. Moonlight ~Ai no Big Band~", where EvenTheGirlsWantHer.
** Haruka Kudo seems to be cultivating this image in the current generation.
** Although she tries to act like a {{Kawaiiko}}, Erina Ikuta is said to be cool and rough in nature, which is emphasized by [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bbl7eedCEAA-0C3.jpg her biceps]] and acrobatic talent.
* BrattyHalfPint: Ai Kago and Nozomi Tsuji in their early days.
* BreakTheCutie: Asuka Fukuda claims to have left Morning Musume because the other members bullied her due to her young age. She is the shortest lived member and the only one to completely go back to civilian life. No longer the case as she has resurfaced as part of a group called PEACE$TONE.
** Ai Kago as a more notorious example, having been caught in two scandals after graduating from Morning Musume. The first had her suspended indefinitely from Hello! Project activities, and the second resulted in her being dismissed from Up-Front Agency altogether.
* BreakUpSong: "Onna ni Sachi Are", "Naichau Kamo"
* BrutalHonesty: Junjun, especially when you consider how much Japanese etiquette means the Japanese have a [[CannotSpitItOut hard time telling people]] things they may not want to hear.
* ButNowIMustGo: Graduations, or when members announce their departure from the group.
* CantHoldHerLiquor: Kaori Iida, according to a parody version of "Love Machine" she did alongside Kei Yasuda.
* CharactersAsDevice: Adding Junjun and Linlin was an attempt to break out in Asia.
* ChromaKey: Used quite often for their music videos in varying qualities.
** A poor (YMMV) example would be the "Help me!!" music video.
** A good example would be the "Seishun Kozou ga Naiteiru" Another Ver. music video.
* ChronologicalAlbumTitle: Used for all their original studio albums. In order, they are: ''First Time'', ''Second Morning'', ''3rd LOVE Paradise'', ''4th Ikimasshoi!'', ''No.5'', ''Ai no Dai 6 Kan'', ''Rainbow 7'', ''SEXY 8 BEAT'', ''Platinum 9 DISC'', ''10 MY ME'', ''Fantasy! Juuichi'', ''12, Smart'', ''13 Colorful Character'', and ''14shou ~The message~''.
* ColorCodedCharacters: Each member has her own official image color, used to identify their merchandise and glowsticks, for example. In concerts, the members may even have a set of costumes all in their respective colors. For the current line-up:
** Mizuki Fukumura: hot pink
** Erina Ikuta: yellow-green
** Haruna Iikubo: [[InsistentTerminology honey]] (yellow)
** Ayumi Ishida: blue
** Masaki Sato: emerald green
** Haruka Kudo: orange
** Sakura Oda: lavender
** Haruna Ogata: sea blue
** Miki Nonaka: purple
** Maria Makino: light pink
** Akane Haga: light orange
** Kaede Kaga: Italian red
** Reina Yokoyama: golden yellow
* ConcertKiss: Look for performances of "Love & Peace! HERO ga Yattekita."
** During Sayumi Michishige's graduation concert, she was able to kiss Riho Sayashi on the lips!
* CoverVersion: "Hyokkori Hyoutanjima", "Pepper Keibu", and the cover album ''Cover You''.
* CuteButCacophonic: Ai Takahashi's screams fit the dissonant sound side of the trope rather than outright volume. Also, Mari Yaguchi, who is just disproportionatly loud when provoked.
* DancingIsSeriousBusiness: The signature dynamic of the lineup led by Sayumi Michishige.
* DarkerAndEdgier: After Hitomi Yoshizawa and Rika Ishikawa left Morning Musume, they became the human avatars for Hangry & Angry, punk-lolita mascots desighed by h.Naoto. Yoshizawa and Ishikawa continued to use the TomboyAndGirlyGirl archetypes respectively.
* DeadpanSnarker: Yuko Nakazawa, Kaori Iida
* EverythingsBetterWithSparkles: Usually occurs in the [=PVs=], but "One Two Three" and "Wakuteka Take a Chance" took it to new, memetic heights.
* EvolvingMusic: Part of the ever-changing nature of the group's roster of members; as the line-up changes, so does the music they put out.
* FunSize: Mari Yaguchi is only 4'8"! This became part of her idea when she formed [[TokenMiniMoe Mini Moni]] with Ai Kago and Nozomi Tsuji.
* GoldMakesEverythingShiny: The music videos of "Onna ni Sachi Are" and "Kono Chikyuu no Heiwa wo Honki de Negatterun da yo!"
* GreatestHitsAlbum: Currently the group has released one all-singles album (their first 34 singles) and two albums featuring all their singles' coupling tracks.
* GreyRainOfDepression: The music video of "Naichau Kamo" has the girls crying in the rain.
* HotBlooded: Mari Yaguchi.
* IdenticalStranger: Ai Kago with T&C Bomber's [=RuRu=].
* IllGirl: Eri Kamei graduated from Morning Musume because she had chronic health problems.
** Aika Mitsui graduated earlier than expected because of an unhealed fracture in her foot, which is probably why she still remains in Hello! Project as a solo artist.
* IntercourseWithYou: "Iroppoi Jirettai", "Kanashimi Twilight"
* IntergenerationalFriendship: Makoto Ogawa with Hitomi Yoshikawa. Erina Ikuta with Risa Niigaki. Masaki Sato with various Hello! Project seniors, notably [[DefrostingIceQueen Reina Tanaka]].
* JerkAss: Part of Miki Fujimoto's appeal.
* KansaiRegionalAccent: Yuko Nakazawa, Aika Mitsui
* LookingForLoveInAllTheWrongPlaces: "Nanchatte Renai" talks about a girl who goes through a bunch of boyfriends trying to find love, but is unsuccessful.
* LongTitle:
** Aozora ga Itsumademo Tsuzuku You na Mirai de Are! (''Let the Future Be One Where the Blue Sky Lasts Forever!'')
** Ame no Furanai Hoshi de wa Aisenai Darou? (''We Can't Love on a Planet With No Rain, Right?'')
** Kono Chikyuu no Heiwa wo Honki de Negatterun da yo! (''I'm Really Wishing for Peace on This Earth!'')
* LoveConfession: A lot of their songs, noticeably "Sakura Mankai"
* MeaningfulName: Hitomi Yoshizawa got her name due to her beautiful eyes, her name could roughly be translated to English as "eye person".
* MeaningfulRename: Beginning in 2014, Morning Musume's name would reflect the current year that the group is active, so they were named "Morning Musume '14" (pronounced "one-four") and are currently "Morning Musume '17". This is to help audiences identify the various members in each lineup due to there being many members who were part of Morning Musume over the course of its 15+ year-history.
* {{Medley}}: Frequently performed in concerts.
* MsFanservice: Sayumi, though she's like us to believe she's an InnocentFanserviceGirl.
* NaughtyNurseOutfit: Invoked for Hitomi Yoshizawa, but only for cuteness, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEmjOKDXFR8 here]].
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: Yuko Nakazawa, though it's really her being a bit of a JerkAss mixed with ComedicSociopathy.
** Riho Sayashi to her generation mate Mizuki Fukumura and her upper arms.
* OneSteveLimit:
** Averted with Haruna Iikubo and Haruna Ogata, who are part of the same lineup as of 2014.
** Ai Kago and Ai Takahashi were also part of the same lineup from 2001 to 2004.
* PerformanceVideo: "Chokkan 2 ~Nogashita Sakana wa Ookiizo!~", which features excerpts of various concert performances, and "What is LOVE?", which is a straight concert performance.
* PerpetualSmiler: Kanon Suzuki, hardly ever seen without a big grin even [[UpToEleven while singing.]]
* PimpedOutDress: The dresses in the music video for "Otoko to Onna no Lullaby Game", later seen on the covers of the album ''Fantasy! Juuichi''. There will also be several of these worn as concert costumes, which are shed to reveal a more form-fitting costume underneath.
* PromotedFanboy: Risa Niigaki was known to be a fan of Morning Musume prior to her joining the group.
** There's also Erina Ikuta, who as a fan of Niigaki herself, attended a fan club bus tour for Niigaki as a regular fan, going along and doing activities with the rest of the participants. Sure enough, Ikuta ended up inheriting Niigaki's yellow-green image color after the latter's graduation.
* PungeonMaster: Kaori Iida.
* RetailTherapy: A stanza in "Kimagure Princess" talks about the girl in the song shopping online to soothe her frustrations. Subverted when she buys too much and ends up being angry when she receives the bill.
* RevolvingDoorBand
* RuleOfSymbolism: In the video for "No Hesitation", Ai Kago starts off trying to pack a large suit case and is wearing a dress but at the lyrics "Dangling my halfhearted feelings/with big baggage over my back/I don't need things like that any more" she stops, changes her clothes for a practical t-shirt, shorts and walking boots and opts to carry a backpack.
* RunningGag: "Kame" is Japanese for turtle so whenever one of the other members sees a turtle they'll often exclaim, "There's Eri-chan!"
* ScrewTheRulesImBeautiful: Sayumi
* SelfHarm: Ai Kago during her HeroicBSOD after being fired from Hello! Project by Up-Front Agency for being photographed smoking despite already being suspended for it a year earlier. She suffered from severe depression and started cutting herself. She has even admitted to having suicidal thoughts. She has since recovered, in addition to making a comeback as a musician and actress, as well as getting married and having a daughter.
* SexySecretary: Yuko Nakazawa before joining Morning Musume.
* SignatureSong: "LOVE Machine"
* SpaceStation: Part of the music video of "Renai Revolution 21" takes place in a SpaceStation. There's also a lot of funny SpaceClothes involved in the wardrobe, too.
* StepfordSmiler: "Summer Night Town"
* StockForeignName: Junjun and Linlin.
** One of Miki Nonaka's nicknames is Chel, short for Chelsea. It is her favorite brand of Japanese candy, and Sakura Oda thought it suited her due to the fact Miki lived in America.
* SurprisinglyGoodEnglish: Miki Nonaka, who lived in America for 8 years when she was younger.
** Aika Mitsui, after studying in New Zealand for a year and half, [[https://www.facebook.com/notes/up-front-link/en-angerme-budokan-report-by-aika/887348234657428 has written concert reports in fluent English]].
* TakeThat: After her less-than-pleasant departure from Hello! Project, Ai Kago's song "No Hesitation" has a few veiled references to her time as an idol.
* TallDarkAndSnarky: Kaori Iida.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Reina Tanaka.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Cider for Riho Sayashi.
** Ayumi Ishida and watermelon.
* TranslatedCoverVersion: When the group starred in ''Cinderella The Musical'' in 2008, the songs by Rodgers and Hammerstein were translated into Japanese.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Makoto Ogawa and Rika Ishikawa with Hitomi Yoshikawa.

[[folder:S/mileage / ANGERME]]
!!S/mileage / ANGERME
S/mileage, formed in 2009, is an indies GirlGroup consisting of former Hello Pro Eggs (Ayaka Wada, Kanon Fukuda, Yuuka Maeda, and Saki Ogawa) and made their record label debut in 2010. Originally consisting of four members, five auditionees were added into the group as "sub-group members", [[AscendedExtra but later became integrated as "full members."]]

In 2014, they added a 3rd generation consisting of former Hello Pro Kenshuusei and changed their name to ANGERME.

The current members consist of:

* Ayaka Wada (leader, 1st generation; also current leader of Hello! Project)
* Kana Nakanishi (sub-leader, 2nd generation)
* Akari Takeuchi (sub-leader, 2nd generation)
* Rina Katsuta (2nd generation)
* Mizuki Murota (3rd generation)
* Maho Aikawa (3rd generation)
* Rikako Sasaki (3rd generation)
* Moe Kamikokuryo (4th generation)
* Momona Kasahara (5th generation)
* Ayano Kawamura (6th generation)
* Musubu Funaki (6th generation; also a member of Country Girls)

!!Tropes shared by S/mileage / ANGERME

* ChronologicalAlbumTitle: Used for both their original studio albums so far. (Sensing a theme with H!P yet?) In order, they are: ''Warugaki 1'' and ''2 Smile Sensation''.
* DietEpisode: "Dot Bikini" has some shades of this.
* HappyHarlequinHat: Maho Aikawa's in "Itoshima Distance".
* LocationSong: In "Aa Susukino", the heroine visits the Susukino district in the Sapporo, Hokkaido to get away after a fight with her boyfriend.
** "Itoshima Distance" is about the seaside city Itoshima in Fukuoka. Some of the lyrics are also sung in the local [[JapaneseDialects Hakata dialect]].
* LongTitle:
** 3rd major single: Onaji Jikyuu de Hataraku Tomodachi no Bijin Mama (''My Friend's Mom Who Works At the Same Hourly Pay'') and 22nd single A-side Ai no Tame Kyou Made Shinkashite Kita Ningen, Ai no Tame Subete Taikashita Ningen.
* {{Fangirl}}: Former member Kanon Fukuda was (and still is) a MAJOR one of Yurina Kumai from Berryz Koubou.
* MeaningfulRename: Ayaka Wada and Kanon Fukuda decided to change S/mileage's name to coincide with the arrival of the third generation members, as it would mark a new chapter for the group. [[PortManteau ANGERME]] was suggested by Kana Nakanishi, and it comes from the French words ''ange'' ("angel") and ''larmé'' ("tears").
** Unfortunately, without any context the name gets {{Lost In Translation}} for both Japanese and foreigners. The official pronunciation in Japanese - "An-ju-ru-mu" (アンジュルム) - isn't the correct [[AcCENTUpontheWrongSylLABle French pronunciation]], and the official Romanized name can be literally read as "anger me" [[InMyLanguageThatSoundsLike in English]].
* SpiritualSuccessor: Some fans see Kanon Fukuda as one to Ai Kago [[IdenticalLookingAsians because she looks like her]].
* {{Tsundere}}: "aMa no Jaku"

[[folder:Juice=Juice]]
!!Juice=Juice
Formed in early 2013, Juice=Juice is a group consisting of five girls (four of whom are Hello Pro Kenshuusei), with a "fruit" theme. They made their mainstream debut in the summer of 2013 after three successful indies singles.

The members consist of:

* Yuka Miyazaki (Leader, 1st generation)
* Tomoko Kanazawa (Sub-leader, 1st generation)
* Sayuki Takagi (1st generation)
* Karin Miyamoto (1st generation)
* Akari Uemura (1st generation)
* Nanami Yanagawa (2nd generation; also a member of Country Girls)
* Ruru Danbara (2nd generation)

!!Tropes shared by Juice=Juice
* GratuitousFrench: The a-side "Ça va? Ça va?"
* MetaCasting: In 2016, Juice=Juice starred as the fictional idol group NEXT YOU in the TV adaption of the novel ''Budokan''. It was originally written by a Hello! Project fanboy who based the story elements on UP-FRONT PROMOTION (renamed "GREEN-UP PROMOTION" in-universe) and real idols (Sayuki's character was inspired by Kanon Suzuki).
** In the story, NEXT YOU's dream is to perform at Nippon Budokan. [[spoiler:They do, [[BittersweetEnding but]] not without some of the characters leaving the group due to a series of dramatic events along the way.]] When the show was being broadcast, Juice=Juice was in the middle of performing 220 concerts with the same goal of performing at Budokan. Two months after the drama ended, they announced [[LifeImitatesArt they would finally perform there in November 2016]].
* UmbrellaOfTogetherness: "Ai Ai Gasa"
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Country Musume / Country Girls]]
!!Country Musume / Country Girls
Country Musume was originally formed in 1999, consisting of Hokkaido-born members and performing more folksy songs. They're partially notable, however, for the death of founding member Hiromi Yanagihara in July 1999, shortly after their first single release. Since the release of their last single in 2004, they'd been mostly on the backburner...

...until 2014, when former member Mai Satoda announced the group's return with an audition announcement. In November 2014, the new lineup was introduced, along with a name change to "Country Girls" and the addition of Berryz Koubou member Momoko Tsugunaga as "playing manager". With Tsugunaga's graduation in June 2017, however, it was announced that the group would become a "part-time" group, with three of the members joining H!P's currently active groups concurrently.

The members consist of:

* Momoko Tsugunaga (Playing Manager; graduated in June 30, 2017)
* Risa Yamaki
* Manaka Inaba (graduated without a ceremony in August 4, 2016)
* Chisaki Morito (added to Morning Musume in 2017)
* Uta Shimamura (left in June 2015)
* Mai Ozeki
* Nanami Yanagawa (added to Juice=Juice in 2017)
* Musubu Funaki (added to ANGERME in 2017)

!! Tropes shared by Country Musume / Country Girls:
* ArtifactTitle: The original four Country Musume members were all from Hokkaido, but a couple of the members added later were not. In Country Girls, Manaka Inaba is the only member from Hokkaido.
* CoolBigSis: Momoko Tsugunaga, who is 10 years older than the youngest member of the group (she joined Hello! Project the same year Mai Ozeki was born), has a lot of idol experience to teach the younger girls.
* CuteSportsClubManager: For a short time, Manaka Inaba was a manager for her high school baseball team in Hokkaido.
* {{Moe}}: The revival group. The title of one of their first a-sides literally means "I'm sorry for being so adorable."
* TooGoodToBeTrue: The response to fan favorite Uta Shimamura suddenly leaving the group.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: As mentioned, the death of Hiromi Yanagihara after the release of Country Musume's first single. History would repeat itself (in a non-lethal fashion) years later, when Uta Shimamura unexpectedly left Country Girls after ''their'' first single.

[[folder:Kobushi Factory]]
!!Kobushi Factory
Kobushi Factory is one of the latest groups in the Hello! Project stable, formed in early 2015 from former Kenshuusei members. Based off their name, it's very likely that their formation is intended to fill the void Berryz Koubou has left.

The members consist of:

* Rio Fujii (sub-leader; got her contract terminated in July 2017)
* Ayaka Hirose (leader)
* Ayano Hamaura
* Natsumi Taguchi
* Rena Ogawa
* Minami Nomura
* Sakurako Wada
* Rei Inoue

!!Tropes shared by Kobushi Factory:
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Rio was mustard, Ayaka is light blue, Ayano is pink, Natsumi is orange, Rena is red, Minami is royal blue, Sakurako is green, and Rei is purple.
* {{Fangirl}}: Ayano really admires Momochi-senpai.
* MeaningfulName: It was chosen by former Berryz Koubou member and Hello! Project advisor Saki Shimizu. "Kobushi" refers to the Kobushi Magnolia tree and also means fist, which represents the group having grace and strength, and "Factory" was given as the {{Spiritual Successor}} of Berryz Koubou ("Koubou" meaning workshop).

[[folder:Tsubaki Factory]]
!!Tsubaki Factory
Tsubaki Factory was formed in early 2015 with former Kenshuusei members, and is the sister group of Kobushi Factory.

The members consist of:

* Riko Yamagishi (Leader)
* Risa Ogata (Sub-leader)
* Kisora Niinuma
* Ami Tanimoto
* Yumeno Kishimoto
* Kiki Asakura
* Mizuho Ono
* Mao Akiyama
* Saori Onoda

!!Tropes shared by Tsubaki Factory:

* CoverVersion: 17sai from their mini-album Tsubaki Factory SOUND + VISION Vol.1 is a cover of a Moritaka Chisato song. Also from the same album, Cabbage Hakusho ~Haru Hen~ is a cover of a Peaberry song.
* {{Fangirl}}: Yumeno seems to be a big fan of Berryz Kobo, and particularly of Captain.
* MeaningfulName: "Tsubaki" means the Camellia flower, and like its sister group, "Factory" was given as the {{Spiritual Successor}} of Berryz Koubou.
* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: Kiki Asakura's mother named her after the [[Anime/KikisDeliveryService Ghibli heroine]].

[[caption-width-right:350:The original and final lineups]]

Berryz Koubou (literally "Berryz Workshop") was a major Hello! Project act consisting of eight Hello! Project Kids, a group of [[TokenMiniMoe elementary school girls]] ([[SheIsAllGrownUp not anymore]]). Put together in 2004, [[WhatCouldHaveBeen it was originally planned to rotate all the members of Hello! Project Kids]], but stuck with the founding members. Prior to their debut, they were back-up dancers for W at their concerts and music videos ("Aa ii na!" and "Robo Kiss.")

In August 2014, the group announced that they would be going on indefinite hiatus starting in spring 2015.

The members consist(ed) of:

* Saki Shimizu (Captain)
* Momoko Tsugunaga
* Chinami Tokunaga
* Maasa Sudo
* Miyabi Natsuyaki (sub-captain)
* Maiha Ishimura (graduated in 2005)
* Yurina Kumai
* Risako Sugaya

!! Tropes shared by Berryz Koubou:
* ADayInTheLimelight Chinami sung main once and never again... But she often receives minor vocals.
* AnimeThemeSong: Various examples.
** First their 7th single Nanchuu Koi wo Yatteru YOU KNOW? was used as an ending for the anime Patalliro Saiyuki.
** Then their 9th single Gag 100kaibun Aishite Kudasai was used as the ending theme for the movie ''Anime/FutariWaPrettyCure Max Heart'' 2: Yukizora no Tomodachi.
** Later (and more famously), five of their singles (Seishun Bus Guide, Ryuusei Boy, Otakebi Boy WAO!, Majii Bomber! and Shining Power) were used as ending theme songs for ''InazumaEleven''.
** fFinally, their 31st single Asian Celebration was the cheer song for the movie ''Anime/PrettyCureAllStars'' New Stage 2: Kokoro no Tomodachi.
* BadassBiker: The stylistic concept of "Ai no Dangan" features all girls in red catsuits. There's even the aforementioned bike on one of the CD covers!
* ChronologicalAlbumTitle: Used for their original studio albums. In order, they are: ''1st Chou Berryz'', ''Dai 2 Seichouki'', ''3 Natsu Natsu Mini Berryz'', ''4th Ai no Nanchara Shisuu'', ''5 (FIVE)'', ''6th Otakebi Album'', ''7 Berryz Times'', ''Ai no Album 8'', and ''Berryz Mansion [=9kai=]''.
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Saki AKA Captain was yellow, Momoko was pink, Chinami was orange, Maasa was blue, Miyabi was purple, Maiha was light blue, Yurina was green and Risako was red.
* GirlishPigtails: Momoko's (as Momochi) trademark hairstyle since 2011.
* {{GenkiGirl}}: Chinami, HANDS DOWN.
* {{Kawaiiko}}: Momoko likes to project herself as this, but comes off as TheFakeCutie at times. She was more of TheCutie of the group when she was younger.
* LongTitle: Otona ni wa Naritakunai Hayaku Otona ni Naritai and Onna no Ko ni Shika Wakannai Choudo ga Aru no.
* OneHeadTaller: Yurina is the tallest member in Hello! Project.
* RavenHairIvorySkin: Maasa.
* {{Sampling}}: "Jiriri Kiteru" samples Chopin's "Étude Op. 10, No. 12", known also as the "Revolutionary Étude".
* ShrinkingViolet: Maiha showed signs of this. She was certainly the shyest one.
* SignatureSong: "Special Generation".
* StatuesqueStunner: Yurina in spades. Maasa counts too.

!!℃-ute

[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cute_3.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:The original and final lineups.]]

℃-ute consists of the other half of Hello! Project Kids who were not put in Berryz Koubou. They made their debut on an indies label in 2006 and entered the mainstream market in 2007. They disbanded in June 2017.

The members consisted of:

* Erika Umeda (graduated in 2009)
* Maimi Yajima (leader)
* Megumi Murakami (left in 2006)
* Saki Nakajima
* Kanna Arihara (left in 2009)
* Airi Suzuki
* Chisato Okai
* Mai Hagiwara

!! Tropes shared by ℃-ute:
* {{Adorkable}}: Airi
* AnimeThemeSong: "Ookina Ai de Motenashite" was the second ending song to ''Manga/KirarinRevolution''.
* AscendedExtra: Kanna Arihara was originally part of the trainee program, Hello Pro Egg, but was elected to become part of ℃-ute before the release of their first indie single to make the teams even, as Berryz Koubou and ℃-ute had eight and seven members at the time.
** Maimi Yajima's screentime shot UpToEleven after [[ThePeteBest Megumi Murakami]], the group's lead singer, left before their major label debut. A similar phenomenon happened to [[LesserStar Chisato Okai]], who had little to no solos, but her YouTube dance videos boosted her popularity to the point where she is also considered a main singer behind Maimi and Airi.
* BreakUpSong: "Namida no Iro"
* ChronologicalAlbumTitle: Used for all their original studio albums. In order, they are: ''Cutie Queen VOL.1'', ''2 mini ~Ikiru to Iu Chikara~'', ''3rd ~LOVE Escalation!~'', ''4 Akogare My STAR'', ''Shocking 5'', ''Chou WONDERFUL! 6'', ''Dainana Shou "Utsukushikutte Gomen ne"'', ''8 Queen of J-pop'', and ''Cmaj9''.
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Erika was yellow during her time in the group, Mai later took her color when she graduated (she was originally purple); Maimi was originally pink but after Erika and Kanna graduated/left respectively, she became red (originally Kanna's color) and Airi (originally green) took her color; Saki went from orange to blue (which was originally Chisato's color, later changed to green). Megumi apparently never had a color when she was in the group.
* CoverVersion: "Shochuu Omimai Moushiagemasu", a cover of a 1977's song by idol trio Candies; "Kono Machi" which was originally a Chisato Moritaka's song.
* {{Sampling}}: "Mugen Climax"

Buono! was formed in 2008 as a one-shot unit to perform the opening song to ''Anime/ShugoChara'', but [[AscendedExtra became popular]] and was kept as a regular act. In comparison to other HelloProject acts, they're more pop-rock-influenced in terms of their music and fashion. They oficially ceased activities in 2017.

The members consisted of:

* Momoko Tsugunaga (Berryz Koubou)
* Miyabi Natsuyaki (Berryz Koubou)
* Airi Suzuki (℃-ute)

!!Tropes shared by Buono!:

[[folder:Mini Moni]]
!!Mini Moni
Pioneered by Morning Musume member Mari Yaguchi in 2000, Mini Moni's concept was to include all of the TokenMiniMoe members from Morning Musume under the height of 150 cms. Initially starting out with Mari Yaguchi, Nozomi Tsuji, and Ai Kago of Morning Musume, Mika Todd from Coconuts Musume was later added to the team. In 2002, Yaguchi departed from the group and elected Ai Takahashi to join, raising the height requirement to 153 cms. A fictionalized account of why Yaguchi decided to leave the group was explored in their half live-action half-animated film ''Mini Moni [[TheMovie ja Movie]]: Okashi na Dai Bouken''.

Mini Moni's [[LighterAndSofter kid appeal]] made them a hit with young children, and their songs tend to be nonsensical and educational. They've collaborated with comedian Baka Tono-sama ([[CatchPhrase "Ai~n!"]]) and appeared in the first three movies of ''Anime/{{Hamtaro}}''. Following Todd's departure from the group and Kago and Tsuji leaving Morning Musume in 2004, the group disbanded.

If you're Internet-savvy, you might know them because of the [[AnimalReactionShot Dramatic]] [[MemeticMutation Chipmunk]].

!!Tropes shared by Mini Moni:

* ActingForTwo: The girls also play the robots in the assembly line in the music video for "Lucky Cha Cha Cha."
* AdultsDressedAsChildren: Mainly for their child appeal.
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Or is it in "Crazy About You"?
* AnimatedMusicVideo: Many of Mini Moni's earlier releases were animated, or at least had an animated version for their segment on Morining Musume's show ''Hello! Morning''. These included "Mini Moni Telephone Ring Ring Ring", "Bus Guide", "Strawberry Pie", "Okashi Tsukutte Okkasui~", "Mini Hams Ai no Uta", "Mini Hams no Kekkon Song", and "Miraclun Grand Purin."
* {{Chibi}}: Many of their {{Animated Music Video}}s.
* ClassyCatBurglar: Ai Takahashi in TheMovie wore a cat costume when her character attempted to steal a recipe from the bakery.
* CuteLittleFangs: A caricature of Tsuji's teeth appeared on her animated character.
* [[DoesNotLikeSpam Does Not Like Milk]]: Mari Yaguchi.
* FiveManBand:
** TheHero & TeamMom: Mari Yaguchi
** TheLancer & TheSmartGuy: Mika Todd
** TagalongKid & ThoseTwoGirls: Nozomi Tsuji and Ai Kago
** SixthRanger: Ai Takahashi
* FunSize: The whole concept of Mini Moni thrives on this.
* HotterAndSexier: The concept for "Crazy For You" is much more mature than the other works they've done. Interestingly, it was the only release that wasn't targeted for their young audience, and shortly after, Mini Moni quickly returned back to the tone their older works portrayed.
* ListSong: "Rock n' Roll Kenchoushozaichi ~Oboechaina Series!~" lists all of the prefectural capitals in Japan.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: In the music video for "Lucky Cha Cha Cha", the girls break a whole assembly line... but at least got a parfait out of it.
* ReunionShow: Mari Yaguchi performed with Mini Moni during the HelloProject 2004 Spring concert, [[TearJerker as it was the last concert before Mika Todd would be leaving the company for good]].
* SpaceStation: The music video for "Jankenpyon" takes place in one.
* SurprisinglyGoodEnglish: In "Crazy For You" and some of the songs where lines are actually in English. Justified with the fact that Mika is a native English speaker.
* TsurimeEyes: Ai Kago's animated counterpart has them while everyone else has TaremeEyes.
* {{Tomboy}}: Mika Todd was the only girl who wore a unique uniform, most often more tomboyish than others. For example in ''Okashi no Dai Bouken'', she wore a chef uniform while everyone else wore waitress uniforms. Mari justified this by saying that it's because Mika was exactly on point with the height requirement. Interestingly, after Mari left the group, this no longer seemed to be the case.
* WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs: The music video for "Ai~n! Dance no Uta", a collaboration between the comedian Baka Tono-sama and Mini Moni, is very... ''strange''.
* WearingAFlagOnYourHead: Mika wears the flag for the United States in the music video for "Jankenpyon." It also appears in some of her other costumes.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Their animated counterparts have an array of colorful hair. Tsuji's counterpart had [[PurpleIsTheNewBlack purple hair]], Mika and Kago's counterparts had pink hair, and Ai Takahashi's counterpart had, well, [[ExactlyAsItSaysOnTheTin blue hair]]. The only counterpart who had realistic colored hair was Yaguchi's dirty blonde, which was the actual color of her hair at that time.

[[folder:W]]
!!W
W was a comprised of former Morning Musume members and friends Nozomi Tsuji and Ai Kago in 2004. Notable for their symmetrical choreography and similar heights, they could be mistaken as SingleMindedTwins. Unfortunately, their activities were suspended in 2006 after Kago made tabloids smoking underage. W ultimately disbanded when Kago was booted out of HelloProject for [[MayDecemberRomance dating an older man]] and [[LaserGuidedKarma smoking again]].

!! Tropes shared by W:

* AchievementsInIgnorance: In the video for "Aa ii na", they walk off straight of a cliff and it takes them a second to notice as the camera pans back to a wide shot, then it takes a few more second before they actually fall.
* ActingForTwo: Both Tsuji and Kago played the detectives Cara and Mel, the [[{{Joshikousei}} high school girls]], and the angels in the music video for "Miss Love Tantei." Cranks UpToEleven in "Robo Kiss."
* AmateurSleuth: "Miss Love Tantei." Tsuji and Kago play their detective characters, Cara and Mel, in a mystery-themed {{Musical}} about them.
* BreakUpSong: "Koi no Fuga"
* BrotherSisterIncest: Vaguely implied in "Dakishimenaide ~Nikki Tsuki~". One has to raise eyebrows at the lines "We were born far away from each other/And then we met." Either that or it could be StarCrossedLovers.
* CatchPhrase: "W desu!"
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: In "Robo Kiss", Tsuji is pink while Kago is blue.
* CoverVersion: Some of their songs are covers.
* IntercourseWithYou: "Koi no Vacance" has the lyrics, "Let's love in bare flesh like mermaids."
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: "Suki yo Captain" has the lyrics, "Long hair suits you best."
* LoveTriangle: A stanza in "Friendship" deals with the speaker in the song being conflicted when she and her best friend fall in love with the same guy.
* LuckyCharmsTitle: "Miss Love Tantei" has a heart in its stylized title.
* PissTakeRap: Tsuji delivers one in "Miss Love Tantei", which is pretty notable, as HelloProject isn't known for rapping.
* PlatonicLifePartners: The song "Friendship"
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Apparently, W can also be written as "Double U" or "Double You."
* ThemeNaming: Tsuji and Kago's detective characters are named Cara and Mel.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: "Dou ni mo Tomaranai" was supposed to be their comeback single after Kago came back from her suspension. This and their third album, ''W3: Faithful'', were cancelled when she was dismissed from the company.
* WhatIsThisThingYouCallLove: [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin "Ai no Imi wo Oshiete!"]]
* WomanInWhite: In the music video for "Miss Love Tantei", Kago and Tsuji play two mysterious angels in white who return the diamond to its stand in the museum.

Coconuts Musume was founded in 1998 when a group of girls singing caught the attention of Tsunku's bandmate while he was traveling in Hawaii. These girls were signed onto their agency as a companion sister group to the flagship band HelloProject, Morning Musume, but faced many line-up changes within their first years due to difficulties for some of the members adjusting to Japan. They haven't released anything since 2002, and technically disbanded in 2004, though Ayaka remained in HelloProject carrying the group's name until 2008.

* MildlyMilitary: Coconuts Musume wore military-esque uniforms during promotions and the music video for "Jounetsu Yuuki Miraisen."
* TranslatedCoverVersion: Their second single was a English translated version of "Summer Night Town", and they are seen as the English counterpart to Morning Musume.

A temporary group created in 2003 in order to give some training to five of the oldest Hello! Project Kids, with Morning Musume member Yaguchi Mari acting as a mentor. As Shimizu Saki and Tsugunaga Momoko were selected to become members of Berryz Koubou in 2004, the activity of ZYX ended. They released two singles.

In 2009, the unit was revived as ZYX-α (pronounced Zicks Alpha), with Tsugunaga Momoko and Umeda Erika being the only remaining original members. The revived unit eventually became inactive in 2013. This revived unit didn't release any singles (though they did release an original song titled "Mirai Yosouzu II In 2009).

The members of the original ZYX consisted of:

Morning Musume's Koharu Kusumi had a huge part in ''Manga/KirarinRevolution'' by not only supplying the theme songs, but by also playing the protagonist, Kirari Tsukishima, in voice and in person on the children morning show ''OhaStar''. Come the end of the show, a 3D-animated sequel, ''Kirarin Revolution Stage 3'' was created in 2008 to continue the franchise with two new {{Canon Foreigner}}s, Kobeni and Noeru, as the leads. Hello Pro Eggs You Kikkawa and Sayaka Kitahara were chosen to play those roles in the same fashion Kusumi had with Kirari. After the end of ''Kirarin Revolution'', the group disbanded.

The original line-up consisted of Yuuka Maeda (Amulet Heart), Akari Saho (Amulet Spade), Kanon Fukuda (Amulet Clover), and Ayaka Wada (Amulet Diamond), but when three of these members were promoted from Egg status to form S/mileage, they had to be replaced.
