----
* {{Expy}}: Most of the characters in ''MM'' were lifted straight from the original or ''[=StH=]'', with the exceptions of...

!!Adam / Amanda
The main character of the game.
* DubNameChange: They're "Tina" and "Tito" in Japan.
* GirlishPigtails: Amanda, despite being an adult.
* {{Expy}}:
** Amanda is pretty much Sara with pigtails and different colored clothes.
** Adam is even closer to Pete. He looks near identical but has a separate CanonName nevertheless.
* InnocentBlueEyes: They're quite youthful and are TheHero.
* SilentProtagonist: Played with. When the player acquires a note, s/he shouts "Lucky!". When they catch a fish, they say "I got--". When they talk to someone in cutscenes, they are shown speaking, but no lines of dialogue comes out from them.
* SuddenlyVoiced: In ''My Little Shop''.
* VocalDissonance: Adam has a pretty deep voice, while he looks almost prepubescent thanks to the SuperDeformed style.

!!Jamie
Another farmer in town who quickly becomes your rival. Will always be the opposite gender of the player.
* TheAce: When compared to you on how high the record is between you and them.
* AmbiguousGender: Has a very androgynous appearance in order to allow for being either male or female depending on the game file.
* BrokenAce: They've become cynical due to humanity's cruelty and disrespect of the Harvest Goddess.
* {{Bifauxnen}}: Or PrettyBoy. Like any marriageable candidate, Jamie is conventionally good-looking. And since their gender is customisable, Jamie can be seen as a LongHairedPrettyBoy or a handsome girl.
* GenderBlenderName: Enforced. Since Jamie can be either male or female, depending on the player's gender, their name has to be androgynous enough to suit both genders.
* NonstandardGameOver: If you marry them in the English version or Japanese "For World" edition. This is because Jamie was ''not'' available to marry in the original Japanese version. It was added in the upgraded rerelease.
* RedStringOfFate: While you don't have to marry them, and we don't [[NonstandardGameOver encourage you to]], everyone in the games has a love interest who they will happily court if it weren't for you, thus making you the canon pairing. This is mostly due to the fact the Japanese version didn't have Jamie as a love interest.
* TheRival: The local rival farmer.

!!Blue
* {{Expy}}: Of Gray in ''64''. They're both quiet farmers with similar designs and names.
* TheQuietOne: He doesn't speak much.

!!Ray
* TheDitz: He doesn't really know what to talk about besides fishing. And if he likes you then he starts becoming incredibly nervous and awkward around you... even after you're married.
* TheDrifter: Doesn't apparently live anywhere. It's left vague where he even sleeps.
* {{Expy}}: Of Cliff, both in appearance and the apparent lack of permanent housing.

!!Alex
* CurtainsMatchTheWindows: Black eyes and black hair.
* {{Expy}}: Of Doctor from the ''[[VideoGame/HarvestMoonBackToNature Mineral Town]]'' game.
* HospitalHottie: He's the attractive local doctor.

!!Carl
A young man who dreams of opening his own cafe in town, but doesn't quite have the startup funds available when the game begins. He will end up getting a job at the Moonlight Cafe once it opens, and soon after he does indeed manage to open up his cafe.
* {{Expy}}: Bares a resemblance to Jeff (though is younger, blonder, and clean shaven). He is also a baker like Jeff was in ''64''.

* OlderThanTheyLook: Looks very young and is often mistaken for a child.

!!Dan
* AmbiguouslyBrown: He's darker than most characters and has black hair. His design and traveler ways imply he's Romani.
* {{Expy}}: Much less than others but he's similar to Kai in ''64'', being an AmbiguouslyBrown man dressed in purple and working at a winery.
* HotGypsyWoman: Gender-inverted. He's an attractive traveler who's implied to be Roma. He can be married if you play as female.
* VocalDissonance: He has a surprisingly high pitched voice.

!!Henry
A travelling painter who comes to town after the player has planted a few fruit trees.
* TheDrifter: He's a travelling artist.

!!Tai
The blacksmith. He moves into town once you ship at least one of every ore.
* {{Expy}}: He looks like the peddler from the original game but has a different role and personality.

!!Meryl
Ronald's niece. She moves into town once Ronald expands the orchard.
* CreepyChild: Constantly talks about unsettling things like her fear of death.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: It's never specified what happened but she greatly fears death, doesn't want to grow up, and has constant nightmares.
* {{Expy}}: She visually resembles both the fortune teller's granddaughter from the first game and May from ''64''.
* PrimalFear: She has a noticeable fear of death.
