!!'''S.G.S Foundation (The Boukengers)'''
[[folder:Satoru Akashi / Bouken Red]]
!!![[color:red:Satoru Akashi / Bouken Red]] | [-Actor: Mitsuomi Takahashi-]
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/boukenger_satoru.jpg]]

The Fiery Adventurer, as Bouken Red he drives Go Go Dump and leads the team with a calm expression and a fire in his heart. He mostly battles against Ryuuwon of the Jaryuu Tribe. He is often called [[GratuitousEnglish Chief]] by the other Boukengers.

* TheAce: Got his reputation for being able to get any treasure anywhere.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Proves this to Masumi, especially towards the finale.
* ButtMonkey: Eventually developed a mild case while maintaining his cool persona. An entire episode was dedicated to taking this trope to the extreme, by way of a bad luck curse.
* CaptainErsatz: Very similar to [[Series/HimitsuSentaiGorenger Akarenger]] in terms of personality.
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: To [[Series/ChoujinSentaiJetman Ryu Tendo]], both having lost the girls they loved in missions before becoming team leader of a Super Sentai team whose nemesis is a FantasticRacist. But while Ryu's fiance turned out to be alive and brainwashed by the antagonists, Satoru's girlfriend stayed dead.
* CatchPhrase
** *snaps fingers* [[GratuitousEnglish Attack!]]
** Good job!
* TheComicallySerious: You wouldn't believe how funny this serious guy can be.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Before he joined SGS, it revealed early-on that [[spoiler:his partners, Kyoko and Masaki died in a blaze trap, leaving him the only survivor.]] He retired from adventuring soon afterwards, but got hired by SGS to do it all over again.
* {{Determinator}}: When he sets his mind to something, he ''will'' not stop at all costs. His willpower was enough to control [=GoGo=] Drill, a [=GoGo=] vehicle prone to overloading its drivers.
* DubNameChange: "Keine" in the Korean dub.
* FinishingMove: ''Red Zone Crash''
* HotBlooded: It's hard to believe since he's rather serious-looking, but when he gets fired up - he can be just as bold and determined as the rest of them.
* ImageSong: "The Greatest Precious"
* LastNameBasis: Those who don't refer to him as ''[[GratuitousEnglish Chiifu]]'' or [=BoukenRed=] just call him Akashi.
* LawOfChromaticSuperiority: Obviously as a red ranger.
* TheLeader: The "chief" of the team, leading the others through adventures with strength and courage.
* MarriedToTheJob: He is a Boukenger by heart and soul and doesn't really have anything else outside of his job.
* MrExposition: He's generally the one who gives exposition regarding the Precious of the week, as well as different things related to adventuring and the S.G.S.
* NotQuiteDead: [[spoiler:After seemingly exploding with the Precious Bank, Satoru appears safe on the Dai Voyager in time for the final battle due to Zuuban.]]
* ObliviousToLove: He has no idea of Sakura's feelings for him. [[spoiler:Although it's hinted they got a RelationshipUpgrade in between the end of the series and ''Film/JukenSentaiGekirangerVsBoukenger''.]]
* PlayingWithFire: His Bouken Bo primarily uses flame-based attacks to gain the advantage.
* SeriousBusiness: Akashi took his 'adventuring' business ''way'' too seriously. When he got passed for an adventuring school because of his test paper getting swapped by accident, he ended up in a CornerOfWoe.
* SignatureMove: ''Javelin Crash''
* StandardizedLeader: He initially seems like one, being the serious, determined leader of the Boukengers, but underneath that exterior lie a man with quite the DarkAndTroubledPast. He can also be exceptionally hilarious, albeit unintentionally.
* SwissArmyWeapon: His Bouken Arm has two modes.
* TwoGuysAndAGirl: The make up of his treasure hunting team in his {{backstory}}.

The Fast Adventurer, as Bouken Black he drives Go Go Formula, a racecar-like vehicle, and is only part of the Boukengers to pay his debt back to Akashi for saving his life. He has a personal vendetta against Yaiba of Darkness of Dark Shadow.

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Satoru is this to him. He luckily gets over it as the season goes on.
* BigBrotherInstinct: He acts as something of a brother figure to Natsuki, his MoralityPet and is very protective of her.
* TheBigGuy: As reflected by his hammer, he's the member that relies on physical strength the most.
* ButtMonkey: He's the one most often on the receiving end of misfortune.

* DubNameChange: "Ray" in the Korean dub.
* IOweYouMyLife: The reason he joined the Boukengers is to repay Satoru.
* ImageSong: "Black Drive"
* LikeBrotherAndSister: His relationship with Natsuki. They're like a protective older brother and his naive little sister.
* TheLancer: In early episodes, where he is the Boukengrr who frequently tends to clash and disagree with Akashi. In later episodes this is downplayed in favor of him being TheBigGuy.
* ParentalSubstitute: To Natsuki, to an extent. He was the one who found her with no memories who she is and ever since then he has taken care of her, acting as something of a father figure to her. Masumi's actor has stated that Masumi sees Natsuki as a little daughter he needs to protect.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Natsuki. Ever since he found her, they go everywhere together, do everything together, and they are like family to each other.
* RankUp: [[spoiler:The final episode sees him becoming the chief of SGS after Akashi leaves for space to find Precious.]]

* BlowYouAway: Primarily utilizes wind-based attacks through his Blow Knuckle.
* CaptainErsatz: His tendencies resemble [[Series/BattleFeverJ Battle France.]]

!!![[color:gold:Natsuki Mamiya / Bouken Yellow]] | [-Actress: Chise Nakamura-]
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/natsuki3.jpg]]

The Strong Adventurer, as Bouken Yellow she drives Go Go Dozer, a giant bulldozer, and is the most childish of the group. Her main reason to adventure was to discover more about her own past.

* ActionGirl: She's a [[TheDitz ditz]] to a fault, but she is still just as competent of a fighter as the rest of them.
* AmnesiacHero: She has no memories of her past. She joined the team's adventures to discover her own past.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler:When Natsuki touched the Sun of Lemuria, Rei brainwashed her into thinking that her parents' desire and her sacred duty was to activate it and destroy humanity.]]
* CaptainErsatz: Has a similarly perky personality to [[Series/ChoujinSentaiJetman Ako]].
* DamselInDistress: She spends most of her time getting herself in trouble and someone of the team, usually Masumi, has to save her.
* DishingOutDirt: Her main fighting style revolves around using hr Bucket Scoopers to dig up the dirt around her and throw it as the enemy.
* TheDitz: Not the smartest member of the time and the one easier to trick.
* DubNameChange: "Hannah" in the Korean dub.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: She loses her GirlishPigtails when [[spoiler:she gets brainwashed in the Lemurian Princess episodes]].

* HumanPopsicle: [[spoiler:One hundred-thousand years ago, her parents, knowing their civilization's nearing demise, left Natsuki in a Sleeping Capsule that would slow her growth speed to a rate of 1 year for every 5,000 years. She woke up when Masumi found her in the ruins.]]
* ImageSong: "Secret Treasure"
* ImprobableWeaponUser: The Bucket Scoopers, which are literally just a pair of bulldozer buckets that are placed on her hands. They are surprisingly effective.
* TheIngenue: Very naive, childish and easy to trick.
* {{Kawaiiko}}: Obviously with her GenkiGirl attitude.
* LastOfHerKind: [[spoiler:It is later revealed that she is the last survivor of the Lemurian civilization.]]
* LikeBrotherAndSister: She's basically Masumi's little sister, with him always been there to watch over her and protect her when she gets in trouble.
* MoralityPet: To Masumi. She's the only one who can bring out his softer side.
* TheNotLoveInterest: To Masumi. They're very attached to each other, he only brings out his caring and protective side around her and Natsuki is explicitly stated to be "the light to Masumi's darkness". Despite this, they aren't romantically involved. The actors stated in interviews that the characters' relationship was akin to that of parent-child or [[LikeBrotherAndSister brother-sister]].
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: [[spoiler:As Lilina, she becomes disturbingly stoic and dispassionate to the pleas of her team as she focuses on her "goal" of destroying humanity.]]
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Masumi. While not in a romantic relationship, they go everywhere together, do everything together, and since Natsuki has no memory of anything that happened in her life before she met Masumi, he's like the only family she has.
* PrincessProtagonist: [[spoiler:The princess of the lost ancient kingdom of Lemuria.]]
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: Energetic Girl to Masumi's Savvy Guy.

* ActionGirl: She's smart, strong, and drives a submarine, and that's all in addition to being a ranger.
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: Downplayed. She has black hair and initially appears to be aloof and stand-offish due to [[TheStoic taking her professional very seriously]], but she is actually very [[CoolBigSis nice and easy to get along with]].
* CaptainErsatz: One to [[Series/HimitsuSentaiGorenger Peggy Matsuyama]].
* CatchPhrase: "Use codenames while on a mission." [[PhraseCatcher Usually when someone her junior called her with name rather than 'Pink']]

* DubNameChange: "Yumi" in the Korean dub.
* GrandTheftMe: [[spoiler:By Pacha Kamaq XII in the ''Series/JukenSentaiGekiranger'' crossover movie.]]
* HandCannon: Hydro Shooter
* ImageSong: "Sakura"
* LadyOfWar: She is prim and proper and wears pink, but is the second-in-command of the team.
* TheLancer: Being Satoru's second-in-command and her strict, no-smiling personality contrasts with his outgoing, inner-{{Hot Blooded}} personality.
* MakingASplash: Her Hydro Shooter obviously uses water-based attacks to take out enemies.
* MeaningfulName: She's the Pink Ranger. [[FridgeBrilliance Her name becomes even more meaningful when you realize her]] [[Series/PowerRangersOperationOverdrive Power Rangers counterpart]] [[FloralThemeNaming was named "Rose."]]
* NotSoAboveItAll: Sakura always maintains a serious and stoic attitude, but she also has some silly movements especially in Task 37, where she acts similar to Natsuki.
* NotSoStoic: She's TheStoic most of the time, but if the situation is dire enough she'll let out her emotions, particularly when Chief or her teammates or in danger.
** In TheMovie she [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes freaks out]] at the site of a horde of BigCreepyCrawlies.
** When Satoru makes an attempt to [[HeroicSacrifice sacrifice himself]] to destroy the Questers in their unbeatable mecha in #42, she completely loses it and starts crying and pleading with him not to go through with it.
* NumberTwo: Official second-in-command and "sub-chief" of the team.
* RavenHairIvorySkin: Black hair, pale skin and incredibly beautiful at that.

[[folder:Eiji Takaoka / Bouken Silver]]
!!![[color:gray:Eiji Takaoka / Bouken Silver]] | [-Actor: Masayuki Deai-]

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eiji.jpg]]

The Dazzling Adventurer, as Bouken Silver he drives Go Go Fire and serves as the spiritually strongest of the team. He mostly battles against Gai (as either form) due to their bitter history. In Boukenger vs. Franchise/SuperSentai, he embodies Hope.

* ChromeChampion: He is named Dazzling Adventurer for a reason. Half of his suit is shiny silver.
* CaptainErsatz: Eiji has more than a few similarities with [[Series/KyoryuSentaiZyuranger Burai]].
* DarkAndTroubledPast: When he was a kid, he witnessed his father getting killed by Ashu.
* DefrostingIceKing: He was initially cold and rude towards the Boukengers but gradually warm up to them after they accept him as their comrade.

* IneffectualLoner: His solitary approach works until the Ashu Gai and Rei are brought back as Questers by Gaja and he can't keep fighting them on his own. He resists joining the team for a while, but eventually relents and actually starts to like his teammates after a while.
* ItsPersonal: Hunting Ashu is business as usual for him, but has a personal vendetta with Gai on account that he [[YouKilledMyFather killed his father in front of him when he was a boy]].
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He is arrogant, brash and just plain antisocial at times as a result of growing up alone and with the guilt of blaming himself for [[spoiler: causing his father's death]]. He comes to care about the team greatly as time passes even thought he may not always show it.
* SignatureMove: ''Sniper Gatling''
* SixthRanger: Joins the team much later in the series and gives them a new powerful member.
* StealthHiBye: Was capable of doing this even before becoming a Boukenger.
%%* SwissArmyWeapon: Sagasniper
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: He's seen constantly eating vegetables. In the crossover with Gekiranger, he even decides to have a vegetable eating contest with Gou and Ken.
* VitriolicBestBuds: He butts heads with Masumi all the time, but they care about each other just as much as about everyone else on the team.

!!Negative Syndicates (The Villains)
[[folder: In General]]
* ColorCodedArmies: Each faction has a different dominant color in their palette. Gordom is white, Jaryuu is red, Dark Shadow is blue and the Questers are black.
* FactionCalculus:
** The Jaryuu Clan is the Powerhouse faction, having tougher {{Mooks}} and stronger monsters.
** The Gordom Civilization is the Subversive faction, having weak {{Mooks}} that come in large numbers and no monsters of their own.
** Dark Shadow is the Balanced faction, having moderately tough monsters and no {{Mooks}}, which they compensate for by having two skilled fighters in their ranks and by borrowing Karths on occasion.
** The Questers are the Cannons faction, having two very strong members and a new HumongousMecha each week, but no mooks or monsters.
* {{Mooks}}: Combatant Karths for the Gordom Civilization and Jaryuu Soldiers for the Jaryuu Clan, though both the Jaryuu Clan and Dark Shadow also use Karths on occasion.
* NebulousEvilOrganization: They're all evil organizations seeking to use the Precious for their own sinister ends.
* RoguesGallery: All of them pose more-or-less equal threats to the Boukengers and take turns serving as the villains of an episode.
* VillainTeamUp: They'll form alliances with one another when convenient. Though they'll just as easily betray each other when convenient as well.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Gordom Civilization]]
!!!In General
An ancient civilization founded around worship of a deity called "Gordom".
----
* AdvancedAncientHumans: They appear to have been human to some degree, although Gajah is the only member of Gordom we see and his humanity is [[AmbiguouslyHuman very much in question]].
* LostTechnology: On account of making contact with an alien deity, the technology they wield is unusually advanced and very alien.
* MonsterOfTheWeek: Averted for the most part. Gordom usually relies on the episode's Precious to be the monster of the week. The closest they have besides that are the [[HumongousMecha Giant Gods]], though only two are made and one is stolen by the Questers.
* OddlySmallOrganization: Especially compared to the other Negative Syndicates. In most episode they're only comprised of Gajah and a dozen or so [[{{Mooks}} Karths]]. They compensate by either forming alliances with other Negative Syndicates or exploiting the Precious of the episode.
* ReligionOfEvil: Considering their religion revolves around a so-called "Destruction God", it's safe to say it isn't a very benevolent one.
* VillainOnLeave: You can go as many as six or seven episodes without having Gordom appear once.

!!!High Priest Gajah of the Gordom Civilization | [-Actor: Hiroo Otaka-]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gajah_ep1.png]]
%% [[caption-width-right:350:some caption text]]
The priest of a long-dead civilization, who the Boukengers accidentally reawaken in the first episode. Desires to revive his country by [[TakeOverTheWorld conquering the Earth]].
----
* AGodAmI: [[spoiler:In the final episodes he seeks to become one with Gordom by absorbing its Heart and Brain. After his [[OneWingedAngel transformation into Gajadom]], he boasts to have surpassed Godom]].
* BigBadEnsemble: He's the first of the four main antagonists to appear, following shortly thereafter by Ryuuwon and then Gekkou of Illusions, and much later Gai. Of the four, Gajah is the least proactive, is easily bullied by his fellow Big Bads and only plays a direct role in a handful of episodes [[spoiler:although he ends up being the FinalBoss, though only after the other players in the ensemble are all taken care of.]]
* BookEnds: [[spoiler: Is both the first villain the Boukengers face and the last.]]
* EvilGenius: He's a skilled inventor, has a PhotographicMemory and is adept at altering his civilization's LostTechnology to be compatible with modern inventions.
* EvilOldFolks: Even with his immortality, he's still an old man, and a very wicked one at that.
* IneffectualSympatheticVillain: In early episodes, he gets beat up rather easily in each appearance he makes. Ryuuwon once just walked into his lair threatening information of out of him.
* FinalBoss: [[spoiler:He's the last villain to be taken care of.]]
* {{Homage}}: Gajah is themed after Varrucane from ''Series/HimitsuSentaiGoranger'' while his OneWingedAngel form is themed after Oh Blocker in ''Series/ChourikiSentaiOhranger''.
* KickTheDog: When one of your plans involves stealing from Santa Claus, you're definitely a unique type of scum.
* LargeHam: ''Boy howdy''.
* LastPlanStanding: [[spoiler:Waits until the Questers and Yaiba are dead before he puts his plans into action. Ryuuwon bites not long after, leaving Gajah as the only contender to be the FinalBoss.]]
* LaughablyEvil: With him being an old man out of his time and how much he gets ragged on by other factions, it's hard for him not to fall into this.
* MookMaker: Can spawn his [[{{Mooks}} Karths]] out of any stone.
* PsychoRangers: During the short segment on ''Super Sentai'' examples of this trope, Gajah forms [[Series/JAKQDengekitai Gajah Dengekitai]]. Fittingly, Gajah calls himself [[SpotlightStealingSquad Big One]].
* OneWingedAngel: [[spoiler:In the finale as a result of his consuming the Heart of Godom and entering a cocoon, before emerging in a monstrous form he calls Gajadom.]]
* OrcusOnHisThrone: Gajah owns no specific MonsterOfTheWeek to call upon, and can't really fight on his own, so he usually stays in the background, only striking with well-thought out schemes... [[spoiler:Until some of the final arcs.]]
* PhotographicMemory: Has one, leading him to create the Godom engines after simply taking ONE look at the designs for the Parallel Engines that the Boukengers use, creating the Questers.
* SinisterMinister: The arch priest of the Gordom, and a very creepy one at that.
* SoleSurvivor: He's the only surviving member we see of the Gordom Civilization.
* SuperPowerLottery: After gaining his OneWingedAngel form.
* SuspendedAnimation: He spend the past few centuries in one until the Boukengers awaken him in episode 1. [[spoiler:After his final defeat and reverting back to his regular human form, he reenters his sleep in hoping of reawakening again someday.]]
* TookALevelInBadass: [[spoiler:By the finale, he adds three Godom engines to himself and beats the tar out of Ryuuwon and the Boukengers, and that's before his OneWingedAngel where he gets the Heart of Godom.]]
* VillainDecay: An inversion. He starts off the series a borderline-IneffectualSympatheticVillain but gradually becomes more dangerous as the series goes on. [[spoiler:Culminating in him becoming the FinalBoss once all the other villains are defeated.]]

!!!Combatant Karths

White stone-like grunts who serve the Gordom Civilization

----
* CannonFodder: The Karths are easy to produce and just as easy for the Boukengers to cut down.
* {{Homage}}: For Tackle Boy in ''Series/ChourikiSentaiOhranger''.
* MookCarryover: Gajah is prone to loning them out to other Negatives. Dark Shadow use them whenever they need {{Mooks}}, and Ryuuwon has also utilized them on a few occasions.
* ZergRush: While not very strong, they can be quite tricky when they attack in large numbers.

!!!Giant God Gordom

The transformed state of the Gordom shrine, modeled on their very own namesake deity.
----
* {{Homage}}: Based on the Variblune from ''Series/HimitsuSentaiGoranger''.
* StarterVillain: It is the very first MonsterOfTheWeek the Boukengers fight.
* TransformingMecha: Can shift between being the shrine of Gordom and a giant war robot.

!!!Mogari

A samurai-like living statue created to guard a long lost village. It attacks anyone splashed with water from the Kubi flask.
----
* {{Homage}}: It's design is modeled after [[Series/BattleFeverJ Battle Fever Robo]]. The way it enlarges is also a reference to the way Egos Monsters became giant, by summoning an identical large copy of themselves.
* ImplacableMan: Incredibly durable, to the point where most of the Boukengers' attacks bounce off of it. It takes Satoru jumping down on it and creating a weak point in its shoulder to defeat it.
* PunchClockVillain: It's not really evil, being as it was originally created to defend a village. Gajah just turned it against the Boukengers.
* ThereIsAnother: After the Boukengers defeat it, Gajah reveals that the Mogari they fought was really just a "switch" for a giant-sized Mogari.

!!!Modified Mythical Beast Gordorum
Originally an ancient Lemurian bioweapon, Gajah modified its egg to spit out a beast called "Gordorum" loyal to him.
----
* {{Homage}}: Modeled on Magi King from ''Series/MahouSentaiMagiranger''.
* MonsterOfTheWeek: It's the monster the Boukengers fight in #30.

!!!Desperado

A monster created after Gajah absorbed the contents of Pandora's Box.
----
* TheDragon: Created by Gajah to serve as his enforcer and muscle.
* {{Homage}}: Modeled after [[Series/ChourikiSentaiOhranger Ohranger Robo]].
* ImplacableMan: Most of the Boukengers' attacks do very little against it. It takes them hitting it with the Dual Crusher multiple times to put it down.
* MadeOfEvil: It's made from the evils in Pandora's Box.
* PreFinalBoss: Fought and destroyed right before Gajah is.

!!!Destruction God Gordom

An ancient deity which fell to Earth from space and formed the basis of the Gordom Civilization.
----
* EvilIsVisceral: Both the Heart of Gordom and Brain of Gordom it left behind are dangerous artifacts.
* GodOfEvil: Implied, given it's a "Destruction God".
* GreaterScopeVillain: Never appears in the series itself beyond a brief flashback, but it founded the Gordom Civilization and left behind several powerful artifacts, including its Heart and Brain.
* SufficientlyAdvancedAliens: Implied to be some kind of advanced alien, since it came from space and is responsible for the LostTechnology the Gordom use.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Jaryuu Clan]]
!!!In General
A race of genetically engineered dragons created through [[LostTechnology Lemurian super science]]. They seek to [[KillAllHumans wipe out humanity]] and claim the Earth for themselves.
----
* AntiHumanAlliance: Their main plans for the Precious are to use them to wipe out humankind so their dragon people can take humanity's place.
* {{Homage}}: Their members are mainly modeled after the mecha of the dinosaur-themed seasons ''Series/KyoryuSentaiZyuranger'' and ''Series/BakuryuuSentaiAbaranger'', or dragon-themed mecha from other seasons.
* MookDepletion: Ryuuwon's darwinistic methods of creating [[MonsterOfTheWeek Jakuryuu]] and his weakening ability to create new Jaryuu soldiers gradually deplete his forces.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: The Jaryuu are "dragons" created by Ryuuwon splicing the DNA of dinosaurs with the genetics of several other creatures to create lizard people.
* TheRemnant: A pocket of Jaryuu Soldiers are shown in the epilogue to have survived Ryuuwon's defeat and still seeking to carry on his vision.

!!!Creator King Ryuuwon of the Jaryuu Tribe | [-Actor: Creator/JunpeiMorita-]

An ancient once-human adventurer and alchemist who transfigured himself into a dragon and created the Jaryuu Clan from his blood. He despises humanity, and wishes to create a world where only the truly worthy may survive. Often fights against Akashi, due to their similarities.
----
* ArchEnemy: To Akashi, who possess a similar but also differing view on adventuring than him, and who he fights many times throughout the series.
* BadBoss: He blows up his giant dragon robot with several Jaryuu piloting them in an attempt to kill the Boukengers. Akashi was not at all pleased by this. He also has his Jaryuu fight to the death to enhance the surviving mook into a stronger form.
* BigBadEnsemble: One of the main antagonists alongside Gajah, Gekkou of Illusions and Gai. Of the four, Ryuuwon is the one behind the most episode plots and Akashi's personal ArchEnemy.
* BoomerangBigot: Hates humans, despite having formerly been one.
* CameBackWrong: His partially decayed form in the ''Boukenger'' tribute episode of ''Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger''.
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: To [[Series/ChikyuuSentaiFiveman Garoa]] and [[Series/ChoujinSentaiJetman Radiguet]], both being nemesis to a red ranger. Though a FantasticRacist like Radiguet with a RedemptionRejection moment, Ryuwon is actually a BoomerangBigot. Also, while both are similar in human form and each a NotSoHarmlessVillain despite personal setbacks and self-sabotaging moments, Ryuwon lacks Garoa's ButtMonkey traits and does not feel threatened by rival villains.
* DualWielding: Wields two swords.
* TheDragon: Literally. In respect to the trope, though, he's not a straight example (seeing as he works independently), he fills several of the tropes associated with this role in ''Sentai'': he's one of the stronger villains in combat, often takes to the battlefield himself [[spoiler: and is the next to last villain to bite it]].
* EmperorScientist: Ryuuwon rules over the Jaryuu Clan and creates all of the dragons that populate it.
* EvilCounterpart: He's an adventurer like Akashi, but allowed his ambition to come at the expense of those around him.
* FrontlineGeneral: Leads most operations from the front and frequently battles the Boukengers.
* FromASingleCell: Following Ryuwon [[UnexplainedRecovery resurfacing afrom being blown up in Task 29]], Take 47 reveals his helmet allowed him to regenerate his body.
* TheHeavy: He's the most proactive and most recurring threat of the Boukengers, and the one who commands the strongest faction at the start of the series.
* {{Homage}}: His design is based on Daizyujin from ''Series/KyoryuSentaiZyuranger''.
* HumansAreTheRealMonsters: His FreudianExcuse is that, after he was abandoned by his comrades he came to see all of humanity as evil.
* MakerOfMonsters: All of the {{mooks}}, [[HumongousMecha mecha]] and [[MonsterOfTheWeek monsters]] he uses are personally made by himself.
* MonsterProgenitor: Creates the Jaryuu soldiers from his own blood.
* MookMaker: Is able to create his Jaryuu soldiers from samples of his own body, and from them. But near the end of the series, he became too weak to keep doing this and has to find a Precious to restore his power first.
* RedemptionRejection: [[spoiler:Akashi tries to tell him that having his dreams means being human and an adventurer but Ryuuwon continuously shoves him aside as he dies from the explosion of the Precious Bank.]]
* ReturningBigBad: Appropriately enough, he comes back as an undead villain in the ''Boukenger'' tribute episode of ''Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger''.
* ShadowArchetype: Ryuuon represents a darker side of Akashi, an adventurer who suffered ridicule that compels him to seek the power out of revenge.
* SocialDarwinist: Deconstructed. He has his mooks engage in [[ThereCanBeOnlyOne all-out battle to death]] before [[MookPromotion transforming the surviving winner]], but it ends up depleting his army and gradually weakens him everytime he creates name Jaryu to replace the ones that died. By the series finale and ''Series/KaizokuSentaiGokaiger'', the Jaryuu are nearly extinct.
* StartOfDarkness: [[spoiler:Being abandoned by his comrades is what triggered his hatred of humanity.]]
* SuperEmpowering: The Wicked Dragons are Jaryuu Soldiers who've been empowered by Ryuuwon.
* WasOnceAMan: Used to be a human, and briefly turns back into one before being killed off.

!!!Dragonoid Soldiers Jaryuu [-Voiced by:Creator/TamotsuNishiwaki-]

Genetically engineered soldiers created by Ryuuwon from his own blood.
----
* DragonTheirFeet: {{Pun}} aside, a pocket of them outlast Ryuuwon's defeat and in the finale continue trying to loot Precious to achieve his vision.
* EliteMooks: Compared to the Gordom's Karths, Jaryuu Soldiers are tougher and more intelligent, though this only means they last a little longer against the Boukengers.
* {{Homage}}: Modeled after [[Series/KyoryuSentaiZyuranger Dragon Caeser]].
* WeHaveReserves: Deconstructed. Ryuwon's SocialDarwinist methods of selecting a Jakuryuu reduces the Jaryuu's numbers until only two remained in the final episode of the series.

!!!Wicked Dragons

The end product of Ryuuwon having a group of Jaryuu Soldiers fight each other to the death, with the survivor being mutated into a stronger unique dragon.
----
* MonsterOfTheWeek: They tend to serve as the villain of the week whenever it's a Jaryuu Clan episode.
* MookPromotion: They begin as one of a group of Jaryuu Soldiers, who after fighting their comrades to the death is given a transformation into a much stronger form.

[[folder:Dark Shadow]]
!!!In General
A group of Japan-based ninjas-for-hire who are out to make big bucks by stealing Preciouses. Consist of Gekkou of Illusions, Shizuka of the Wind and Yaiba of Darkness.
----
* DualWielding: Yaiba who can turn his two swords into a DoubleWeapon and Shizuka with her dual kunai.
* {{Homage}}: Appropriate given the ninja motif, their members are also based on ''Series/NinjaSentaiKakuranger'' mecha. Gekkou is based on Tsubasamaru, Yaiba on Muteki Shogun, and Shizuka on Kakure Daishogun.
* {{Ninja}}: Ninja thieves, at that.
* TokenGoodTeammate: They're called Dark Shadow, they're antagonists, but they're the least ''evil'' amongst the Negative Syndicate since Gekkou and Shizuka are not interested in causing harm to humanity unlike Gaja, Ryuuon or the Questers, they just want to make a lot of money and can be shown to be friendly to the Boukengers. Except for [[TokenEvilTeammate Yaiba]]. This is mainly the reason why, by the end of the series, [[spoiler:Gekkou and Shizuka are the only 2 villains still at large, [[AndTheAdventureContinues still fighting the Boukenger over the precious]].]]

The wise owl leader of Dark Shadow.
----
* BigBadEnsemble: Joins Gajah and Ryuuwon when he appears, and is joined much later by Gai. Of the four main antagonists, Gekkou is only one to [[NonActionBigBad never fight himself]] and [[spoiler:the only one to [[KarmaHoudini get away in the end]].]]
* CorruptedCharacterCopy: To [[Series/MiraiSentaiTimeranger Tac]], both teal-colored bird-like supporters of their respective groups. But Tac is a navigation robot helping a Super Sentai team while Gekko is the leader of a group that opposes a Super Sentai team.
* DemonicPossession: [[spoiler:His method of sealing the Demon Bird required him to pull a form of this, by abandoning his own body and taking possession of the Demon Bird's to suppress its power, turning him into a normal-sized owl as a result.]]
* DevilInPlainSight: When the Boukengers actually meet him, they assume he's a regular bird and don't recognize him as the leader of Dark Shadow. Justified since they haven't seen or even heard of him prior to that point.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He greatly dislikes the Demon Bird's desire to destroy the world, hence why he gave up his human form to contain it. Yaiba has to unseal the bird by force since he doesn't have any standards.
* KarmaHoudini: [[spoiler:He and Shizuka are still alive and still operating at the end of the series, though it's downplayed since they were the least evil of the villains. Then subverted in ''Gokaiger vs. Gavan'' when he and Shizuka are revealed to be Zangyack Prisoners.]]
* MakeMyMonsterGrow: Gekkou is the most reliable source of this trope with his 'Oogami Henge no Jutsu.
* NonActionBigBad: Gekkou leads Dark Shadow but leaves the fighting to his two subordinates, as he's a bird.
* OneWingedAngel: During the only time he personally fights the Boukenger, [[spoiler:he turns into a huge, monstrous bird; the very bird he once imprisoned using his own body (see WasOnceAMan below). However, he didn't do it on his own free will: Yaiba forced him to, and Gekkou was unable to control himself in his monstrous form.]]
* WasOnceAMan: [[spoiler:He was once a human ninja, until he used his own body to imprison a huge bird monster called the Demon Bird, turning him into an owl as a result. ]]

A ninja nicknamed the "Paper Crane Ninja" who acts as the second-in-command of Dark Shadow.
----
* ArchEnemy: Yaiba is this to Masumi, who desires to defeat him while Yaiba seeks to tempt him into embracing his inner darkness.
* BigBadEnsemble: [[spoiler:Temporarily joins the ensemble after backstabbing Gekkou, and even becomes the most dangerous player in it when he enacts his plan to coat the Earth in darkness.]]
* TheCorrupter: Sees darkness inside of Masumi and wants to corrupt him into being just as twisted as he is.
* TheDarkSide: Embodies it, and he's looking to get Masumi to embrace it as well.
* TheDragon: He's the deputy leader of Dark Shadow and Gekkou's main enforcer, getting sent in whenever Shizuka isn't enough to cut it.
* DragonInChief: Even though he's subordinate to Gekkou, he's the most threatening and dangerous member of Dark Shadow, eventually [[spoiler:superceding Gekkou to join the BigBadEnsemble proper.]]
* EvilerThanThou: [[spoiler:Backstabs Gekkou and strikes down Shizuka in #44 before going off on his own.]]
* EvilSoundsDeep: Has a deep, subdued voice.
* TheFaceless: We don't ever get to see what he really looks like under his armor. Even his "true face" is just another layer of his mask.
* FauxAffablyEvil: He can act professional and soft-spoken when he talks to his superiors and Masumi when he tries corrupting the latter, but unlike his [[AffablyEvil genuinely affable cohorts]], he's just doing this to manipulate others into satisfy his obsession with darkness.
* KnightOfCerebus: Yaiba is the first completely no-nonsense villain we get in the series.
* LackOfEmpathy: While the Ashu Tribe/Questers are much more dangerous and tougher to fight than Yaiba, they at least actually have some care for each other; Yaiba, however, cares nobody but himself, not even to the rest of Dark Shadow or Masumi, whom he repeatedly tries to corrupt and slaughtered his excavation team (Albeit abusive ones, though that's clearly not a detail Yaiba would care about), in his aspirations to obtain power, disregarding what would happen to the planet should he succeed.
* MakerOfMonsters: Is able to use a special ninjitsu to transform certain objects into monsters to serve the Dark Shadow.
* NightmareFetishist: When Gekkou warns him of the [[spoiler:Demon Bird]]'s world destroying power, Yaiba can only express delight at getting to see it.
* OmnicidalManiac: [[spoiler:In his final episode he summons a meteor full of darkness to crash into Earth, intent on spreading its power throughout the planet at the expense of everyone else.]]
* TheSociopath: Apart from his straight-laced and professionally serious voice, Yaiba is very ambitious in wanting the power of darkness to the point that he [[spoiler:unhesitatingly betrays Gekkou and Shizuka; plus [[TheCorrupter him swaying Masumi to embracing his darkness]] doesn't mean Yaiba has actual empathy and consideration of his foe's standards, imperatively trying to force him that he cannot escape the darkness.]]
* TheStarscream: [[spoiler:He eventually backstabs both of his teammates to seize power, sacrificing Gekkou to awaken the Demon Bird so he can use it to destroy the Boukengers.]]
* TokenEvilTeammate: Gekkou and Shizuka can be sympathetic and look like 'just doing their job'. But Yaiba is far more sinister and is a darkness-worshipping monster who [[spoiler:ends up betraying the whole team for the power of darkness, and is the only main member of the team to get KilledOffForReal.]]

A female ninja in Dark Shadow.
----
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Shizuka may be a perky, ditzy PunchClockVillain, but on a couple of occasions is perfectly willing to kill innocents for power.
* DarkActionGirl: She's pretty ditzy and not necessarily evil per-say, but she's still a very capable ninja who can hold her own against the Boukengers. The Rainbow Cloth in Task 38 practically takes this up a notch.
* EvilCounterpart: To Natsuki. Shizuka has her genkiness, but none of her kindness.
* GenkiGirl: A villainous example.
* KarmaHoudini: [[spoiler:She, along with Gekkou, gets away in the end, though like him she wasn't really all that evil. Then subverted in ''Gokaiger vs. Gavan'' when she and Gekkou are revealed to be Zangyack Prisoners.]]
* {{Kawaiiko}}: To an even greater extreme than Natsuki, acting like even more of a {{Womanchild}} thna her.
* MaleGaze: The camera tends to linger on her legs when she's posing as a civilian.
* MsFanservice: In her civilian disguises, which tend to show off her legs. There's also the fishnets she wears as a ninja.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: She's the only female villain among the Negative Syndicates.
* TookALevelInBadass: Task 38 sees her level-up massively, both in civilian form and as Super Shizuka of the Wind when she uses the Rainbow Cloth. She reverts back to her regular self at the end of the episode.
* {{Womanchild}}: Prone to petty taunts, and throwing childish tantrums whenever she's beaten.

* AnimateInanimateObject: Created by imbuing an inanimate object with a soul to brin it to life.

!!!Demon Bird
A giant bird-like demon which once terrorized Hermit's Gorge. [[spoiler:Gekkou of Illusions took possession of his body in order to seal him.]]
----
* GreaterScopeVillain: It's a threat far greater than Dark Shadow, [[spoiler:having been sealed away by Gekkou in the past, and is said to be capable of ravaging the world.]]
* {{Homage}}: Based on Jet Garuda in ''Series/ChoujinSentaiJetman'', which is appropriate given the bird motif.
* TheJuggernaut: Once it's released at full power it absolutely dominates the Boukengers in battle and shrugs off everything they throw at it.
* MinorMajorCharacter: It's one of the most powerful evil forces in the setting and its past has ties to the origin of Dark Shadow, but it only appears in Task 44 and isn't even one of the final bosses in the endgame.
* OminousOwl: Takes the form of a huge, demonic owl
* SealedEvilInACan: It's power is sealed in a shrine at Hermit's Gorge, while its soul [[spoiler:is kept suppressed by Gekkou, who took over the Demon Bird's body in order to seal it.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: Its true nature is linked to key details about [[spoiler:Gekkou's past and why he inhabits a bird body.]]

[[folder: Ashu Tribe / Questers]]

A group of Ashu demons out to make humans suffer and take over the human world. They were once a whole army, but only two are in the world: Rei and Gai. They were quickly defeated but came back more powerful and mechanized when Gaja gave them the Godom Engine. They quickly broke out of Gaja's services and worked on their own. They're Eiji's ArchEnemy.

* BackFromTheDead: Gai and Rei get brought back thanks to Gajah.
* EvilIsNotAToy: Gaja revives them with the Godom Engines, but didn't actually come up with a plan to control them.
* EvilWearsBlack: Both of the Questers have jet-black PoweredArmor on.
* {{Homage}}: To nearly all the mecha of ''Series/GoseiSentaiDairanger''. Gai is Ryuuseioh and then Dairenoh, Rei is Won Tiger and then Kiba Daioh, and Hyoga is Daimugen.
* HumongousMecha: The Quester Robos, most of which were designed specifically to use a particular Precious.
* KnightOfCerebus: After they appear they're treated as the biggest threat in the show and tend to be the toughest to fight. [[spoiler:Ironically they are the first to go down.]]
* NotQuiteDead: Their apparent status between being killed as Ashu and revived as Questers.
* OffscreenVillainDarkMatter: They get their first mecha by stealing it from Gajah. Where they get the resources to make the ones after is anyone's guess.
* ThePsychoRangers: They were made into Questers by Gajah using research on the Boukenger's Parallel Engines. Their Quester forms and SwissArmyWeapon also look vaguely Rangerlike. And to top it off, they also use HumongousMecha during each of their appearance, instead of going for human sized monsters that grow bigger upon defeat.
* UngratefulBastard: Ryuwoon, Gaja and Yaiba helped them to steal the Precious from Boukengers, but they remain ungrateful towards them and only used them as mere pawns.
* VillainousFriendship: The two main members are this to each other, staying loyal to each other, which continues even after being revived as Questers. Also Rei is none too happy when [[spoiler:Bouken Silver kills Gai]].
* WorthyOpponent: [[spoiler:After Gai and Rei are killed, Eiji goes as far as making graves for the two of them.]]

The king of the eastern Ashu Tribe, later modified into a Quester.
----
* ArchEnemy: He and Eiji share a deep history, with Gai having played a role in the death of Eiji's dad, and Eiji is dead set on defeating him.
* BigBadEnsemble: The last of the four main antagonists to appear, although he very quickly becomes one of the Boukengers' most proactive and dangerous foes. [[spoiler:And he ends up being [[DiscOneFinalBoss the first of the villains to fall]].]]
* BoisterousBruiser: Gai is a villainous example, combining efficiency, bravado and {{Troll}} laugh whenever things go his way.
* FrontlineGeneral: Given how the Questers have only two members (and how we only see four evil Ashu in total) Gai frequently does the legwork for many of his schemes and goes up against the Boukengers quite a lot.
* {{Troll}}: Gai just loves screwing with his enemies and laughing in their faces.

* TheDragon: Gai's main (and only) henchman.
* DragonTheirFeet: [[spoiler:After Gai gets defeated by Eiji, Rei lasts for around five seconds longer before being destroyed by the other Boukengers.]]
* SealedEvilInACan: Rei was trapped in a mirror, along with the rest of the Eastern Ashu, until Gai and Hyouga found a way to bring Rei back.

!!!Hyouga | [-Actor: Creator/KenjiHamada-]
An Ashu serving Gai in #17.
----
* MonsterOfTheWeek: He's effectively the villain of the week for #17.
* PunnyName: His name is a homophone for ''hyoga'', the Japanese word for "glacier", and a portmanteau of the words "hail" and "ogre" in Japanese (''hyo oga'').

* ManipulativeBastard: [[spoiler:Took the form of Kei to entice Eiji to stay in the dream world and not help his comrades.]]
* MonsterOfTheWeek: He's the main villain of episode #40, although [[spoiler:it takes two more episodes for Eiji to truly finish him off.]]
* ThePsychoRangers: Creates his own team of fake Boukengers to battle them when he first encounters them.
* VillainOfAnotherStory: He commands a separate branch of the Ashu Tribe from Gai's, but was sealed by Eiji's ancestors in the past and only serves as an antagonist for a short period of time.

!!!Kei | [-Actor: Mami Higashiyama-]
A member of the western Ashu Tribe who is Eiji's mother.

----
* BigBad: Of ''Film/GoGoSentaiBoukengerVsSuperSentai''. He's partnered with Gajah for most of it, but it's clear even then that Chronos is the greater threat.
* FauxAffablyEvil: He acts unusually jovial for an evil demon, though he's still very dangerous and willing to throw his allies under the bus to achieve his goals.
* GenericDoomsdayVillain: Chronos doesn't get much backstory beyond being a demon who wants to TakeOverTheWorld, though while the film was still in development as ''Boukenger vs. Magiranger'' he was a member of Hades Empire Infershia.

* OneWingedAngel: After reviving the three sorcerers he absorbs them into the Staff of the Three Philosophers to grow giant, gaining a set of [[GoldColoredSuperiority golden chest armor in the process]].
* OriginalGeneration: While the other villains in the film are all past foes of the Sentai, Chronos, the BigBad, is a completely original character.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: The singular eye that he has visible is red.
* TimeMaster: With the power of the Gordom Engines given to him by Gajah, Chronos can use his hourglasses to manipulate time and bring people BackFromTheDead.
* VillainTeamUp: At the start of the movie he teams up with Gajah, needing his Gordom Engines to enact his plans.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: Once he has everything he needs, he casts aside Gajah and consumes the rest of his allies to assume his SuperMode.
