The Character Sheet for ''GlassMask''!

!!Maya Kitajima

A young girl who loves watching dramas on TV and learns of her intense passion for acting, when she gets a minor role in a school play. Her passion inflamed, Maya chooses to become a professional actress under the tutelage of Tsukikage.
* AbusiveParents: While not an extreme case, her mother was very harsh with her words a lot and is one of the reasons why Maya thinks she's not very good at doing lots of things.
* BookDumb: Her grades were average, if lower at times. She's not stupid, but lack of interest in things like math and similar makes it difficult for her to study.
* TheDeterminator: Once Maya has decided to do something, she ''will'' do it!
* DisappearedDad: Her father is mentioned to have died when she was a child.
* HeroicBSOD: Suffers from one after her mother has been found dead. Stops acting, refuses to eat and merely holds her mother's urn full of ashes for some time.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: Maya thinks she's a good-for-nothing girl and the only thing she's actually good at is acting, though she thinks Ayumi is better than her in that, too.
* JumpedAtTheCall: An acting theater, where she can learn for free as a scholarship-student? Maya jumps at the chance, including running away from home.
* MissingMom: Her mother counts as this, when Maya learns that she left her old home and job due to illness and there's no trace of her. Eventually, her mother turns up... dead.
* ObliviousToLove: She cares for Sakurakouji, but doesn't realize she's actually fallen in love with Shigeru, until someone else finally points it out to her. [[spoiler: It takes her ''even longer'' to finally realize she loves Masumi.]]
* PlayingATree: Tsukikage eventually casts Maya as a doll in a play, to teach her to not steal the spotlight from everyone, something she inadvertedly does.
* RaisedByWolves: Her character, Jane, and her sister from ''The Forgotten Wilderness'' were raised by wolves, after having been abandoned in the forest as children. The place revolves around Jane being taught proper, human behavior again.
* TheRival: Unbeknowst to her, Ayumi sees her as this and is surprised to learn of this.
* TheRunaway: She ran away from her home, after her mother refused to let her learn acting. Her mother eventually, grudingly, lets her stay at Tsukikage's theater.

!!Haru Kitajima

Maya's mother. She works in a noodle restaurant, where her daughter helped out at times, too. Haru was against Maya learning to act and wanted to force her to come back home after she ran away, but eventually gave her okay to stay. Haru eventually falls ill with tuberculosis and ends up in a hospital, being taken care of, while being left in the dark of her daughter's success.
* AngerBornOfWorry: She's harsh with her words, but overall means well. Her anger when she finds Maya at Tsukikage's theater stems from the fact that Maya ran away from home, in the middle of the night, with barely a note left behind.
* [[IllGirl Ill Woman]]: Coughing, tuberculosis, all part of her character arc.
* IncurableCoughOfDeath: Haru starts getting coughing fits, but it quickly turns into tuberculosis. [[spoiler: It gets better, but a relapse occurs after she spends several hours walking in rain.]]
* TheLostLenore: Her death was a major hit to her daughter.
* RasputinianDeath: Spends hours walking in the rain and getting drenched, leading to hypothermia, which causes her tuberculosis to have a relapse, she gets a fever, gets hit by a car and eventually succumbs to an internal hemorrhage from the preceeding car-accident.

!!Ayumi Himekawa

The daughter of a famous actress and director, Ayumi has everything in life and more. She's an amazing actress and wishes to surpass even her mother. Ayumi eventually catches Tsukikage's attention as a potential candidate for the inheritance of the Crimson Goddess.
* TheAce: And, despite what some people may think, she has worked herself to the bone to be one. Since childhood, she's been studying like crazy and spending hours practicing piano, her acting and anything else, just so people would stop thinking [[{{Nepotism}} she's nothing but a child of celebrities that can get by on anything]].
* ImportantHaircut: When she plays the prince and the pauper in the titular play, she cuts her hair short to look the part ''and'' as a way to show her determination to give it her all and change to become worthy of playing the Crimson Goddess.
* {{Nepotism}}: One of Ayumi's biggest goals is to ''avert'' it, winning her own stardom '''without''' the help of her parents and silencing critics that would say she can't do it on her own.
* TheOjou: She's a deconstructed version of the trope.
* OjouRinglets: Used to have them when she was younger, but they began to grow out as she got older [[CharacterDevelopment and she became more of a friendly rival to Maya]].
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: Ayumi feels this way towards Maya, going so far as to [[spoiler: avenge Maya when Norie aka Suzuko frames Maya for a scandal and then steals Maya's roles]].
* TheRival: Sees herself as this to Maya.
* TemporaryBlindness: She gets hit by a falling spotlight during a practice session, the resulting blow leaving her eye-sight to be blurry for some time, with threat of permanent blindness. Ayumi keeps praciting, using her blurry vision to learn to act ''blindly'' on stage.
* WhenYouComingHomeDad: Her parents are often very busy with their respective careers, which left Ayumi alone a lot as she grew up. But she doesn't resent them, knowing how important their careers are and it's quite obvious that they all love each other a lot.

!!Chigusa Tsukikage

The original Crimson Goddess and, despite having left the stage years ago, still a well-known actress. She left the stage after a spotlight fell and hit her face, badly burning half of it. She's looking for an actress who is remarkable and can take over her role as the Crimson Goddess.
* CareerEndingInjury: During a performance of the Crimson Goddess, a spotlight fell onto her face, burning half off it badly. She stopped going on stage ever since. She does go back on stage as Queen Dowager Haldora in ''The Two Princesses'', a minor role.
* HotForTeacher: She was in love with her acting-mentor and adoptive-father Ichiren Ozaki.
* [[IllGirl Ill Woman]]: Apparently has heavy heart issues, which often require her to have surgery and remain bed-ridden for longer periods of time.
* MeaningfulName: Her first big role as an actress was the moon goddess Diana. Ichiren likely derived her stage-name from that. Tsukikage is written with the kanji for Moon and Shadow.
* MeaningfulRename: Her real name was Chizu, though when she entered the acting world, Ichiren suggested her stage-name of 'Chigusa Tsukikage'. She has gone by that name ever since.
* PeekABangs: Her hair covers the right side of her face. For good reason, it hides the half of her face that was horribly burnt during an accident on stage.
* RagsToRiches: She used to be a poor thief, but thanks to Ichiren taking her in, she got a decent home and ended up becoming a well-off, well-known actress. Due to the war going on and other events, she seems to have lost her wealth, though, since she asked Aoyagi for funding to open her theater school.
* SadistTeacher: She slaps her students with rolled-up scripts when they aren't doing something right, slams her fist into Maya's stomach, to teach her how to properly breathe and speak for stage-acting, and locks her disciples away into a freezer, to make them learn how to properly act their roles.

!!Masumi Hayami

The current vice-president of Daito. He's a cold, level-headed business man who will do whatever he can to get Daito the rights to the Crimson Goddess play. He eventually eases up on things and learns to appreciate and love Maya's acting, becoming a huge, secret fan of hers.

* MissingMom: His mother died from injuries and weakness, after getting badly injured during a fire in the Hayami mansion.
* MommasBoy: He absolutely loved his mother and was devoted to her.
* MyGreatestFailure: He blames himself for Haru Kitajima's death, thinking his greed in prolonging their separation and Haru's eventual departure from the hospital, was what led to her dying.
* RevengeByProxy: His adoptive-father Einosuke 'took' Masumi's mother away from him, when he told her to go inside the burning Hayami mansion and save the relics of the Crimson Goddess play, which caused her to get injured and eventually die. Masumi decides that he'll obtain the rights to the Crimson Goddess play... but only to keep it away from Einosuke and destroy it!

!!Yuu Sakurakouji

Part of the Ondine theater, Sakurakouji is a nice guy who quickly becomes friends with Maya. He has feelings for her and wants to date her, but tries his best to not force her too much. He is a talented actor, who got recognition and is one of the candidates to play the sculptor in the Crimson Goddess play.
* EntitledToHaveYou: Gets some shades of this towards Maya, especially when Shigeru appears.
* [[ShesAllGrownUp He's All Grown Up]]: Hayami mentions this when he meets Sakurakouji after several years have gone by, with him growing into a young man from the boy he used to be.
* InstantExpert: Averted. Sakurakouji has no experience in sculpting and went on a trip to various temples to look at sculptures, eventually finding one and asking the creator to please take him in as a disciple, so he can convincingly act and perform the skill required.

* {{Bifauxnen}}: She's usually mistaken to be a guy and is often cast for male roles. She dislike it, but seems to eventually accept it.

* TheRunaway: She left her family, an apparently rich one, because they didn't want her to become an actress.
* SadistTeacher: In-Training, thanks to Tsukikage's behavior. Rei is not above slapping Maya, if she drifts off during practice.
* WholesomeCrossdresser: Most of her fans thought she was 'in drag' when playing a female character. Her male roles, though, play this straight.

!!Sayaka Minazuki

One of the students at the Tsukikage theater.
* GirlishPigtails: Usually keeps her hair in two, low pigtails.

They took second in best performance during the National Theater Performances. They help out and act alongside the Tsukikage theater off and on.
* BeautyMark: Keiko has one on the left side of her mouth.

* KansaiRegionalAccent: They performed ''Romeo & Juliet'' with this accent. [[NoodleIncident It was apparently hilarious]].

* CoolShades: She is generally drawn wearing large, drooping tinted glasses.
* TheStoic: She doesn't show emotions in her facial expressions a lot, and what emotion she does show is not done very intenely.

!!Ichiren Oosaki

The creator of the Crimson Goddess play. He was a well-known stage-director and took Tsukikage in, when she was caught stealing from him. As Daito prevented Ichiren from getting any more plays or work to be done, he fell into a horrible depression and ended up committing suicide, leaving Tsukikage the rights to the Crimson Goddess play.
* DrivenToSuicide: Unable to perform any more plays, getting any work done and his dream of staging the Crimson Goddess ruined, Ichiren hangs himself.
* HappilyMarried: He was happily married to his wife, and was even a father, but apparently lost the two of them during the second World War.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: He was this to Tsukikage from childhood onward, though she didn't admit it until years later.
* SadistTeacher: Where do you think Tsukikage got it from? He's described as having been ''very'' strict with his actors, which made it all the more special when he did praise someone.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: His last name. Oozaki or Oosaki?

!!Eisuke Hayami

Masumi's adoptive father and the founder and current president of Daito Productions. He's been a fan of Tsukikage's for years and dreams of seeing her perform the Crimson Goddess again, intent on getting the playrights from her. Eisuke is stuck in a wheelchair most of the time, though he can be seen walking with a crutch and some other means of support. He begins to strike up an acquaintance with Maya, curious to see the Crimson Goddess candidate.
* EvilIsSterile: The most 'evil' character of the cast, considering his behavior in the past. He was rendered sterile through illness decades ago.

He uses deals and other means possible, in order to strike out competition for his theater, and helps Masumi in getting the rights for the Crimson Goddess. !!Emi Tabuchi

An idol-singer. She starred in a movie where she plays a high school tennis player, who is told that she only has six months left to live.
* BadBadActing: Her acting is atrocious! Rei even comments that she thought this was the kind of acting one only ever ''reads'' about!
* IncurableCoughOfDeath: We're never told ''what'' illness her character is supposedly dying of.
