!!Kotaro Katsura
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kotaro_katsura_5663.png
!!!!!!Voiced by: Creator/AkiraIshida (JP), Creator/IllichGuardiola (EN, movie)

A former comrade of Gintoki during the Joi War. Even after the Amanto take-over of Japan, Katsura continues to resist the Amanto, and has amassed a band of followers known as the ''Anti-Foreigner Faction'', which is in continuous, direct conflict with the Shinsengumi.

Although his initial methods were more violent in nature, Katsura has since come to believe that there are people important to him in Edo, and decides that he no longer wants to destroy the country. He and his faction now seek a way to bring about change without causing needless bloodshed.

Since he is a wanted man, Katsura is often seen wearing disguises (which are always completely ineffectual). Katsura sometimes works odd jobs to raise money for his terrorist activities and is often seen trying to coerce Gintoki into assisting him with his eccentric endeavors. He is always accompanied by his pet, Elizabeth, whom he cares deeply for. Gintoki often calls him "Zura," to which he will typically respond with "Not Zura, it's Katsura."
----
* AccidentalMisnaming: [[CatchPhrase Zura ja nai, Katsura daaa!]]
* AlliterativeName: '''K'''otaro '''K'''atsura.
* AttractiveBentGender: Invoked as Zurako when he is forced into drag with Gintoki by Saigo.
* {{Badass}}: He did fight in the Amanto war alongside Gintoki, after all. He's still pretty badass in the present too, best shown in the Benizakura arc.
** BadassLongRobe: Clad most of the time in a blue kimono, and fights quite effectively while wearing it.
** CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: A highly capable and lethal warrior, on par with Gintoki, completely obscured by the fact that he is always seen with a giant duck by his side.
* {{Bishonen}}: Comes with his [[AkiraIshida voice actor.]]
* [[BombThrowingAnarchists Bomb Throwing Anarchist]]: At least initially. His [[CartoonBomb Cartoon Bombs]] are still indicative of his scatterbrained nature.
* [[BunnyEarsLawyer Bunny Ears Terrorist]]: His actions and reasoning are often incredibly eccentric and strange but he's displayed a shocking amount of competence in managing to evade the Shinsengumi day-after-day. Need it be pointed out again that he fought side-by-side with Gintoki during the Joi War?
* CatchPhrase: "Zura ja nai, Katsura da!"
** Along with the myriad variations such as: "I'm not Zura, I'm Captain Katsura.", "It's not disgusting, it's Elizabeth.", "I'm not a monk, I'm Katsura.", "I'm not Zura, I'm Zurako", "I'm not Fruit Punch Samurai, I'm Katsura.", "I'm not Zura, I'm a pine tree.", "I'm not Mr. K., I'm Katsura.", "I'm not K_tsura, I'm Katsura.", "It's not rap, it's Katsu-rap, ''yo''!", "I'm not Mario, I'm Katsu—.", "I'm not Zura, I'm Katsuo." Episode 176 has an incomplete list of this.
** Now that he believes his role has been taken over by Kyuubei, his new catch phrase is "I am/was on standby the entire time."
* CharacterDevelopment: Started out willing to go to any extreme to destroy everyone and everything related to the new Edo. Thanks to Gintoki and the Yorozuya, he's softened his stance and only goes against the government and Amanto and is now seen by the Shinsengumi as a ''moderate'' rebel. Doesn't mean he's not any less dangerous though.
* CloudCuckooLander: He thought that Gintoki could hide from some ronin in an empty tin can, keeps Elizabeth as a partner without so much as a single question (completely ignoring the fact that it's just a guy in a costume[[note]]and when a similar-looking person switches places he doesn't notices at all[[/note]]), and fends off attackers using poisoned fried rice and curry as a weapon. Heck, when he had a Newtype reaction, he can only say completely nonsensical things!
** Here's a ''really'' extreme example: he once went out for a pleasant bicycle ride... through a safari park during the Popularity Poll arc, just because he wanted to see the animals' paws up close--while everyone that has a lower ranking than him wants to kill him.
* [[CosplayOtakuGirl Cosplay Otaku Terrorist]]: He's so single-mindedly incompetent at disguising himself that it might just be something he does for fun.
-->''"He likes his pet alright, but he '''loves''' his costume, uh-huh"'' as Kagura put it once when he showed up in {{Captain Harlock}} cosplay for the second time. Live on television, no less. Using Captain Katsuura as his alias.
* TheComicallySerious: Subverted because we see him doing something utterly stupid or weird more times than we see him be serious, but he remains perfectly serious during all of his appearances.
** Lampshaded during the Popularity Poll arc, where he challenges Kyubei and Tsukuyo ([[DistaffCounterpart but especially Kyubei]]) for having the same character type as him, claiming that ThereCanBeOnlyOne.
* {{Crossdresser}}: He has a crossdressing "persona" named ''[[AccidentalMisnaming Zura]]''ko.
* CutenessProximity: Has a weakness for cute animals and will often be overcome with a desire to pet them.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Together with Gintoki and Takasugi, he lost a war, probably countless comrades and more importantly his teacher. Considering how the Bafuku killed Shoyo-sensei and [[DecapitationPresentation how he found out about it]], it is a miracle that Zura is not batshit insane like Takasugi.
* EveryoneHasStandards: He may want to kill the Shogun, but he will not do it when the Shogun is naked and has his dick out aiming at him. In fact he insist Kondo protect him!
* EyepatchOfPower: Always wears one as part of his Captain Katsura disguise. His future self in the second movie also sports bandages over his eye in the same manner as Takasugi.
* {{Flanderization}}: In his first appearance, he's at least reasonably competent, dangerous, and aware of the world around him, if a bit prone to idealistic ranting. After the debut of Elizabeth, he's a silly CloudCuckooLander with the naive idealist traits turned UpToEleven. [[TropesAreNotBad He's considerably funnier this way]].
* HistoricalDomainCharacter: [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katsura_Kogoro Katsura Kogoro]], later known as Kido Takayoshi.
* HistoricalInJoke: A lot of his characterisation is based on his historical counterpart's nickname "Running Kogoro", as he lived a lot longer than most rebels by virtue of clever disguises and running away when he needed to. In one chapter he hides from the Shinsengumi with a ramen shopkeeper named Ikumatsu, and falls in love with her. The real-life Katsura met his ''wife'', a geisha named Ikumatsu, while in hiding from his enemies.
* InsaneTrollLogic: Just look at the exam he wrote...
* LikesOlderWomen: Has a thing for married women and widows, according to Gintoki. There was also the incident with Ikumatsu, which Gintoki teases him for much later on in the manga.
-->'''Gintoki''': ''"Zura, might you have [=***=][=***=] with Ikumatsu?"''
* LongHairedPrettyBoy. Long hair? Check. Bishonen? Check.
* LovableCoward: He ''can'' fight, but he will run away from losing battles, as indicated by an early flashback in which he tries to persuade Gin to do the same. (See HistoricalInJoke above.)
* MasterOfDisguise: Or so he thinks. He's managed to fool the Shinsengumi at least.
* NiceHat: Often disguises himself as a monk, complete with a monk's straw hat.
* PaperThinDisguise: Whether he dresses up as a priest, as Captain Katsura ([[Manga/{{Naruto}} Dattebayo/Believe it!]]), or as [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Katsuo]], almost nobody (excluding Gintoki & co.) ever seems to recognize him, despite baring his unaltered face in plain sight. A lot of times, he doesn't even bother going for secrecy:
-->''After accidentally stepping on a kid's toy, disguised as a priest.''
-->'''Kid''': ''"Hey, smelly priest!"''
-->'''Katsura''': ''"[[CompletelyMissingThePoint I'm not a smelly priest]], [[AccidentalMisnaming I'm Katsura]]."''
** Moreover, when he's interviewed by Hanano, he's ''outraged'' with the network altering his voice, obscuring his face with a mosaic, and using an alias instead of his real name. Instead, he has them stop, using only a pair of gag glasses as a disguise, and he even takes those off just to eat some ramen.
* PocketProtector: Carries around an old school book which saves his life against Nizo.
* RedBaron: It's probably a good idea to not take someone with the nickname "Young Noble of Terror" lightly.
* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: Freaks out and denies having done the deed when Gintoki asks him about him and Ikumatsu.
* ShowerScene: [[FanDisservice While talking about how he sometimes likes to take a whizz in the shower.]]
* SnarkBall: Has his moments.
* TraumaticHaircut: In the Benizakura Arc. It's grown back the next time we see him.
* VitriolicBestBuds / HeterosexualLifePartners: With Gintoki. Gintoki normally thinks of him as a bother, but they've been around each other since childhood. The flip side of that is that Katsura is extremely serious about keeping Kagura and Shinpachi safe, claiming that Gintoki wouldn't forgive him otherwise.
** When they're on the same side, Kondo and Katsura get along ''great''.

!!Elizabeth
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/elizabeth_1058.png
!!!!!!Voiced by: Shinji Takamatsu, Creator/ToruFuruya (in Episodes 234 & 235) (JP), Andrew Love (EN, movie)

Katsura's right hand... [[BuffySpeak duck/penguin-costume-guy-thingy]]. Originally a present from Sakamoto, Elizabeth hangs around with Katsura, who doesn't even think twice about treating it like a dear friend (and not some person in a costume). It almost never talks, preferring to communicate with signboards (which it uses as weapons, whenever necessary). [[spoiler:Real name is General Eren, and belongs to the mercenary race of Renho.]]

[[spoiler:Or not, as there are (at least) two Elizabeths: General Eren is apparently a temp who fills in on mondays, while the regular Elizabeth's identity remains unknown.]]
----
* AuthorAvatar: It has been revealed that underneath the costume is the director, although this is obviously a gag exclusive to the anime adaptation.
* {{BFG}}: Sometimes uses a bazooka.
* CarryABigStick: His BadFuture self in the second movie wields a huge spiky mace.
* EverythingsBetterWithPenguins: Or ducks... or whatever Elizabeth is supposed to be.
* FutureBadass: His BadFuture self in the second movie is extremely buff and fights with a huge spiky mace.
* {{Homage}}: Elizabeth seems to like dressing up as a reference to Manga/{{Golgo13}}, [[spoiler:while Eren is a complete shout out to Amuro Ray. Heck, they even pilot the same Franchise/{{Gundam}} and are voiced by the same person.]]
* PaperThinDisguise: Elizabeth's appearance already seems like a costume, but look at Elizabeth when it's running, and you'll see flippers being worn by hairy legs. More obviously, when its mouth is open, you can see either glowing eyes or a man (the director).
* PutOnABus: [[spoiler:Subverted! In probably the greatest moment of trolling in the series, at the end of the Renho Arc Elizabeth/General Eren presumably leaves with the rest of the Renho forever, only for it to be revealed that General Eren was just a temp who fills in on mondays while the regular Elizabeth is away. The characters reacted much the same way as the audience.]]
* TheQuietOne: It talks once in a while (emphasis on while), but usually, it just communicates through instant signboards.
* TalkingWithSigns: Always uses signboards to communicate. Well, except for the times he's the director...
* WeaponOfChoice: Those signboards. Well, that, or the [[{{BFG}} bazooka]].

[[folder:Kaientai]]
!!Tatsuma Sakamoto
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tatsuma_sakamoto_2986.png
!!!!!!Voiced by: Creator/ShinichiroMiki (JP), Creator/ChrisAyres (EN, movie)

A former comrade of Gintoki during the Joi War. He is perpetually cheerful and upbeat even in the most dire of situations. Despite his goofy nature, Sakamoto is actually a successful businessman and pilot with a private, well-equipped defensive business fleet: The Kaientai. Sakamoto's goal is to use trade to improve relations and negotiations between Earth and the Amanto in order to bring about freedom in a peaceful manner.
----
* BadassLongcoat: Subverted most of the time, as he rarely ever does anything badass while wearing it. Though it's actually played straight when he headbutts the remnant leader of the Chidori SpacePirates.
* BringMyRedJacket: He wears a red longcoat and is prone to being physically abused and bleeding.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: He may be goofy, but he's actually a quite competent businessman (when he actually does work that is). During the Renho Arc, he even gets most of the Renho to [[MookFaceTurn join their side]] by ''working out a business deal''.
* ChivalrousPervert: A goofy variation of this.
* CoolShades
* CloudCuckooLander
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Though he doesn't get much of a chance to show the 'badass', he did fight alongside Gintoki and Katsura during the Joi War and does have his moments in the present.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Despite his incessant laughter, Sakamoto actually suffered a lot from losing most of his friends during the Joi War. This is what motivated him to leave Earth and start a new life as a businessman.
* TheFool
* GeniusDitz: A very competent businessman, but he's too busy acting like an idiot most of the time.
* TheGunslinger: Now prefers a pistol to the sword he used to wield during the Joi War.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: When they were younger, he said that he was only willing to try flying because [[HoYay he knew Gin was waiting for him on the ground]]. Gin is impatient with him in the present day, but both are willing to risk their lives for the other.
* HistoricalDomainCharacter: Based off of [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sakamoto_Ry%C5%8Dma Sakamoto Ryouma]].
* TheHyena: AHAHAHA!!
* {{Keet}}: A rare grown-up example.
* MadeASlave: In the past he was made one by the Chidori SpacePirates, which dealt in human trafficking [[spoiler:and which Mutsu was part of due to her father being its leader. Sakamoto ended up stealing the whole fleet with the help of the human slaves and Mutsu. This then turned into the Kaientai merchant fleet.]]
* OneHeadTaller: With Mutsu. So far, a non-romantic example.
* ThePollyanna: RareMaleExample. He can somehow find an optimistic explanation for waking up to being ''eaten'' by a giant dog.
--> ''"(...) Must've sweated while I was asleep too. Eh? Why's everything going red? ...Oh yeah...I was drinking tomato juice."''
--> ''"Look, there's a limit to positive thinking, okay?!"''
* RunningGag: Always refers to Gintoki as "Kintoki", which replaces the "silver" kanji with "gold" kanji. Much to Gintoki's annoyance.
* StrangeMindsThinkAlike: Seeing as he was the one who gave Elizabeth to [[CloudCuckooLander Katsura]] as a gift, it's probably safe to assume that these two are the ''only'' ones who operate on the same wavelength.
* TechnicalPacifist: He doesn't like pointless battles and will try anything to resolve conflicts without violence. But if you challenge him, all bets are off.
* UrbanLegendLoveLife: There's a brief mention that he can "only handle Earth women" and Mutsu implies that he may have once or twice caught an STD, but we never actually see any evidence one way or another, as all the women he hits on reject him.
* VerbalTic: Ends many of his sentences with the suffix "-o" which is an informal way of emphasizing the whole sentence.
* WideEyedIdealist: Believes there is a way to bring about peace in a non-violent manner whereas Gintoki has succumbed to indifference and both Katsura (initially) and Takasugi have resorted to terrorism to bring about change.

!!Mutsu
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mutsu_1_7108.png
!!!!!!Voiced by: Creator/AkenoWatanabe

Sakamoto's serious, down-to-earth second-in-command, and the real leader behind the Kaientai.

[[TheReliableOne Competent and reliable]], Tatsuma usually leaves her in charge of everything while he's away... which is 90% of the time. A RunningGag in the series is her trying to find him. [[spoiler:As we later learn, she's actually a Yato and former member of the Chidori SpacePirates.]]
----
* ActionGirl: It took a long time, but the arc detailing her backstory finally showed her to be one.
* ADayInTheLimelight: After more than 400 chapters since her introduction and never having been in the spotlight for long, we finally got an arc detailing who she is and where she comes from starting with chapter 477.
* {{Badass}}: To the point where Gintoki questions [[spoiler:if she is a Yato.]]
* BeleagueredAssistant: Played straight and subverted. While she ''is'' Sakamoto's assistant, this only applies when he's aboard his ship. When he isn't she's the one in charge.
* {{Bifauxnen}}: Dresses and speaks like a man in the present day.
* CombatStilettos: Wore high-heeled boots into combat when she was younger.
* TheComicallySerious
* CrazyPrepared: She had the Kaientai fleet modified into a CombiningMecha behind Sakamoto's back just in case they had to work out business deals with giant aliens, which proves useful in defeating the Renho's artificial planet.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow
* DeadpanSnarker
* EmotionlessGirl: You can count on one hand the times Mutsu actually cracks a smile or lets go of her perpetual poker face.
* TheGunslinger
* HypercompetentSidekick
* MiserAdvisor: She once tricks Gintoki into getting less pay for a job--that is, finding her boss.
* NiceHat: Only takes it off when invited at somebody's home. [[spoiler:Its large size also serves to shield her from the sun, being a Yato and all.]]
* NumberTwo: Serves as Sakamoto's second-in-command, which means she practically runs the entire Kaientai most of the time.
* PirateGirl: Used to be one before Sakamoto picked her up.
* TheReliableOne: To Tatsuma. She always backs him up during his dealings and transactions or when they're fighting.
* TheStoic: Not an IceQueen though. Just serious.
* ThighHighBoots: Wore a pair of long, high-heeled boots when she was younger.
* TheWomanBehindTheMan: She pretty much runs everything concerning Sakamoto's business.
* WomenAreWiser: A variation. She isn't more moral than Sakamoto. Just more realistic and practical.

[[folder:Oniwabanshū]]
!!Ayame Sarutobi
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sacchan_4707.png
!!!!!!Voiced by: YuuKobayashi (JP), Carli Mosier (EN, movie)

A female ninja and former member of the now disbanded Oniwabanshū nicknamed ''Sa-chan.'' She meets Gintoki when she falls through his roof during a failed mission and has since become infatuated with him, much to his chagrin. Her feelings for him seem to be encouraged, as she enjoys being put down and threatened by him, due to her blatant masochism.
----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: Played with. It's not her ''looks'' that Gintoki finds abhorrent, [[NoGuyWantsToBeChased it's her attitude and her perverted persona]].
* ActionGirl: Don't be fooled by her silly antics, she ''is'' a quite capable fighter when she's not otherwise distracted.
* AssassinOutclassin: Often shown failing at carrying out her assassinations due to her [[BlindWithoutEm glasses]].
* BadJobWorseUniform: She works at a "kunoichi cafe", wearing a HighlyVisibleNinja costume between assassination jobs.
* BeautyMark: It's under the corner of her eye.
* BlindWithoutEm: Made even more disastrous by the fact that she's a ninja.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: She's an extremely capable assassin, provided that she has her glasses and [[SingleTargetSexuality Gin]] is not in her line of sight.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Purple hair and purple eyes.
* DetachedSleeves
* EmbarrassingNickname: "Sarutobi" means "flying monkey", and she's often called just "monkey" by people who don't like her.
* FingerlessGloves
* {{Flanderization}}: As with Katsura, her wackiness was turned all the way up and her competence all the way down very shortly after her debut.
* FlechetteStorm
* HighlyVisibleNinja
* IMeantToDoThat: Obviously the caltrop sticking out of her forehead was thrown there on purpose.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Who knew natto could be used as a weapon?
* InSeriesNickname: The aforementioned "Sa-chan", which is used more often to address her than her real name.
* InTheNameOfTheMoon: She always recites a poem about the vanity of life before completing a job.
* KnuckleCracking: Does it when she first appears, from as little as clenching her fists.
* LovableSexManiac: A RareFemaleExample. Her kinky antics are strictly PlayedForLaughs.
* {{Meganekko}}
* MsFanservice: Pretty much every appearance by her pushes the poor broadcasting regulations to their limits.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname
* ThePeepingTom: She often hides in the Yorozuya's HQ in order to peep on naked Gintoki.
* ProfessionalKiller: She ''is'' an assassin after all. Unfortunately for her, she is seen failing at it more often than not.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: Wears a long purple scarf all the time, even in combat.
* SingleTargetSexuality: All of her affections are aimed at Gintoki. The other guys she interacts with? Zenzo gets [[AssShove Ass Shoved]], Okita gets turned down for an S&M session (twice), and fellow StalkerWithACrush Kondo was nothing more than a [[TheBeard beard]] [[OperationJealousy for the one chance they got]].
* StalkerWithACrush: To Gintoki, much like how Kondo is to Otae.
** StalkingIsFunnyIfItIsFemaleAfterMale: Subverted. All of her antics are strictly PlayedForLaughs just as much as Kondo is.
* TooKinkyToTorture: And ''how!''
** Though there's plenty all throughout the series of her tied up or begging Gin to bang her or spank her (etc.) the best example has to be a later episode where Gin inexplicably switches bodies with Sadaharu. Sada-Gin then encounters Ayame and lifts his leg on her, in broad daylight, in public, and her reaction is, "YES! DO IT! DO IT NOW!" Too kinky indeed...
* VitriolicBestBuds: Hangs out a lot with Tsukuyo despite the two often bickering with each other.
* WeaponOfMassDestruction: Her glasses become these for a time when Gengai "repairs" them.
** Hattori even says "''Dude, I’m not even entirely sure if we should classify those as eyewear or '''weapons of mass destruction'''.''"
* [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair You Gotta Have Purple Hair]]

!!Zenzo Hattori
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zenzo_1_2327.png
!!!!!!Voiced by: Creator/KeijiFujiwara

A skilled ninja who used to lead the now-disbanded Oniwabanshū, acquainted with Ayame. He's a big fan of ''Weekly Shonen Jump'', just like Gintoki--once he and Gintoki fought to the death over the ''Jump'' Christmas double issue (which turned to be a double issue of ''Akamaru Jump''). Despite his great skill, he's unfortunate enough to have the runs. Even more unfortunately, Ayame loves taking advantage of that fact...
----
* AnimalMotifs: As a ninja, he compares himself to a cat, while the samurai are dogs. Where dogs are loyal to their owners like the samurai are to their masters, cats are only loyal as long as they are fed in the same way ninjas only serve someone as long as they are paid.
* AssShove: Poor guy, always getting this treatment from Ayame...
* {{Badass}}
** BadassBoast: Makes one when he saves Hinowa from Jiraia's mooks.
-->''"I'll show you how scary a real ninja can be. Pop out your eyes and watch carefully. My moves will be over in an instant. Zenzo Hattori of the Marishiten has come to play!"''
** BadassLongcoat: As part of his more casual wear. Notable in that he wears it when he saves Hinowa from Jiraia's mooks and single-handedly takes them all down.
* BigDamnHeroes: ''"[[SarcasmMode Oh sorry about that.]] [[FlechetteStorm I dropped my kunai.]] [[DeadpanSnarker I have no idea what's going on.]] [[BrilliantButLazy I've been reading JUMP the whole time.]] [[BlatantLies I'm obviously not lending a hand here.]]"''
* BlindingBangs: His eyes are always covered by his air and never seen in the anime, though on occasion glimpsed in the manga.
* BrilliantButLazy: Similar to Gintoki in combat skill and in obsession with Jump. What's he doing when Jiraia beats Gintoki during the two's first encounter? Laying back on top of a nearby container, reading Jump, claiming he didn't see anything and that he wouldn't get involved, albeit with good reason, citing his father's own clash with Jiraia. Later in the arc he saves Hinowa from a large group of Jiraia's mooks, taking them all down off-screen.
* ButtMonkey: Like Kondo, only with emphasis on the ''butt'' part rather than the ''monkey'' part.
* CombatPragmatist: Smoke bombs, feints and traps are tricks of the trade for a ninja.
* FakeDefector: Pretends to defect to the Kiheitai by [[spoiler:seemingly assassinating the Shogun, which was actually a fake.]]
* FlechetteStorm
* InHarmsWay: A former employer of his mentions that he feels the most alive when he puts himself in danger. He also gets very excited at the prospect of fighting said former employer and his minions because Okuni had foreseen his death if he did so.
* IHaveTheHighGround: He does this a lot, including in the 9th anime opening. Probably comes with the [[{{Ninja}} territory]].
* IntergenerationalFriendship: With the clairvoyant little girl Okuni.
* IWasJustPassingThrough: His default excuse when he helps the Yorozuya, always claiming that he [[BystanderSyndrome doesn't want to get involved in any way, shape or form]].
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Emphasis on the "heart of gold" part. He may jab at people but he's overall one of the nicest characters of the show.
* LiteralAssKicking: Often the victim of this approach from Ayame.
* MrExposition: During the Red Spider Arc, letting the audience know just who Jiraia is and what his motives are.
* {{Ninja}}
* OneManArmy: Singlehandedly defeats Jiraia's large gang of mooks in the Red Spider arc.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Claims to be at least, though not always the case.
* PocketProtector: A shojo manga magazine saves his life when he protects Okuni from one of his former employers.
* ProfessionalKiller: Just like Ayame.
* PunchClockVillain: Briefly serves as an antagonist in the Go-Ninja Arc, but mainly because he just happened to have been hired by the magistrate. Though his earlier encounter with Gintoki made their confrontation in the same arc a bit... personal on Zenzo's side.
* RichIdiotWithNoDayJob: Averted. He's the scion of a very wealthy ninja family but he holds two jobs: an official one as a pizza guy (mostly a cover) and his real one as an assassin.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: Like Sa-chan, he also wears a very long scarf all the time, and has no problem fighting while wearing it.
* StraightMan: He's even played straight man to ''Shinpachi''.
* StrangeMindsThinkAlike: Him and Gintoki often comment on how similar they are in tastes and personality.
* VolleyingInsults: Mostly with Gintoki, whenever a JUMP issue is involved.

[[folder:Yagyu Clan]]
!!Kyubei Yagyu
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kyubei_yagyu_5747.png
!!!!!!Voiced by: Creator/FumikoOrikasa (JP), Creator/BrittneyKarbowski (EN, movie)

An aristocratic young lady who was brought up as a male in order to succeed her family's clan. She dresses and behaves like a boy due to her upbringing. She was close friends with Tae Shimura when they were children, and lost her left eye protecting her when they were young. The incident also left her with the determination to become stronger and improve her skills.
----
* ActionGirl
* AttractiveBentGender: In the GenderBender Arc, though she doesn't change much except for getting taller and having a spiky ponytail. Tae, who was not affected by the gender bending, certainly approved though.
* {{Badass}}: Giving even ''Hijikata'' a run for his money.
** BadassLongcoat
* {{Bifauxnen}}: Not all that surprising, given her somewhat masculine appearance.
* {{Bokukko}}
* BoyishShortHair: Kyubei's BadFuture self in the second movie has cut her hair really short, which makes her look more like a boy.
* ButchLesbian
* ChildhoodMarriagePromise: With ''Tae''! They work everything out after Kyubei's arc, though she continues to pine after her.
* TheComicallySerious
* DefeatMeansFriendship
* DistaffCounterpart: Katsura considers her his due to both of them being TheComicallySerious.
* EyepatchOfPower
* FailureKnight: Failing to save Tae and Shinpachi from their {{Evil Debt Collector}}s and losing her eye in the process is what motivated her to get strong enough to protect Tae.
* ForcefulKiss: Gives one to Tae after asking her to uphold her end of [[ChildhoodMarriagePromise their promise]].
* {{Gayngst}} / IncompatibleOrientation: Kyubei is in love with Otae but believes she can't be with her as a woman.
* GenderFlip: Of YagyuJubei, no less.
* HatesBeingTouched: Not so much hate being touched in general as being touched by ''men''. She's got nothing against men per se, but she'll hurl any guy who tries to touch her. Even if that guy's the ''Shogun''!
* HeirToTheDojo: Part of the reason why she was raised as a man.
* NiceHat: Wears a large straw hat that obscures her face when she first appears, though it's never seen again after that.
* {{Ojou}}
* RaisedAsTheOppositeGender
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: In her first arc she gives several to Shinpachi, pointing out how he is so weak that he has to rely on and hide behind others, such as his sister, and that because of it he is unable to let her go and be herself. She pretty much takes it all back after her defeat.
* {{Sarashi}}: Wears a sarashi in the anime's 7th ending, which features all of the male characters [[ShirtlessScene shirtless]]. As the ending was featured during her arc, it's sort of a spoiler pointing towards her true gender, if it wasn't obvious enough already.
* SheCleansUpNicely: During the few times she gets to dress as a girl.
* SingleTargetSexuality: She's not so much attracted to women in general as she is just in love with Tae.
* SugarAndIcePersonality
* {{Tomboy}}: A result of her upbringing. She speaks and acts like a man.
* TomboyishPonytail
* {{Transgender}}: The series isn't entirely clear on how Kyubei personally sees her gender; on one hand there are episodes where Kyubei tries to get in touch with her feminine side after having lived her entire life as a male--sometimes discreetly pleased and sometimes uncomfortable--while on the other several episodes throw in the mention that Kyubei still, after her introduction arc, has interest in "becoming a man." Her feelings for Tae seem to be the primary reason. Her angst and confusion over her identity and feelings for Tae even become the catalyst for the GenderSwap Arc.
* WholesomeCrossdresser: Part of her male-oriented cultivation.
* YagyuJubei: Kyubei is loosely based on him.

!!Koshinori Yagyu
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/koshinori_yagyu_6114.png
!!!!!!Voiced by: Creator/TakayaKuroda

Kyubei's father, who like his own father is very short of stature. He is very obsessed with maintaining his clan's image as celebrities, to the extent where he keeps a persian cat despite hating them. He tries to implore the rest of the family to live up to their celibrity status, usually to no avail. His wife died after giving birth to Kyubei and in order to protect Kyubei's status in the clan, he refused to take another wife. He thus decided to raise her as a boy instead in order to succeed the clan and keep her place in the family.
----
* MiniatureSeniorCitizens: Though he's not that old, and according to Kyubei, people in her family tend to just be very short.
* ThePatriarch: He's not the actual head of the clan, but he's effectively in charge of the family.
* SkunkStripe
* SlaveToPR: He puts a lot of effort into maintaining the clan's image as celebrities and even keeps a persian cat despite hating and being allergic to them. The rest of the family doesn't seem to care.

!!Ayumu Tojo

!!!!!!Voiced by: KojiYusa (JP), Blake Shepard (EN, movie)

A steadfast servant of the Yagyu Clan who personally looks after Kyubei. He is extremely dedicated to the point of obsession in his concern for his young master's well-being. He goes to great lengths to ensure that no misfortune ever befalls her, much to her annoyance. In return, Kyubei is usually indifferent to Tojo's excessive attention, although she has stated on one occasion that she has never liked him from the beginning and never shys away from responding with physical abuse.

His obsession with making Kyubei happy is most pronounced when he repeatedly tries to force her to wear gothic lolita outfits, claiming they suit her perfectly. Despite his radical approach to caring for his master, he geninuely has the best of intentions for both Kyubei and the Yagyu family. He is generally incredibly calm and composed in both appearance and mannerisms although he easily becomes agitated whenever anything concerning his master is brought up.
----
* BattleButler: As he is a part of the Yagyu clan and has been entrusted with the safety of its successor, he is a highly skilled combatant.
* BerserkButton: Ah, he sure loves eating his raw egg yolk on his rice... but when the yolk breaks...
* ButtMonkey: Past his first arc, he's never treated with any respect, being the subject of much physical and verbal abuse.
* CheshireCatGrin: Combine this with his [[KojiYusa seiyuu]] and this should remind you of [[Manga/{{Bleach}} someone.]]
* DudeShesALesbian: Still can't figure that one out.
* EyesAlwaysShut: A part of his perpetually calm demeanor. He almost never opens them, but they're shown to be green.
* FanDisservice: The less is said about his crossdressing incident, the better.
* IncompatibleOrientation: With Kyubei, who's clearly in love with Tae and uninterested in men.
* {{Keigo}}: He generally speaks in a very polite manner, using ''masu'' and ''desu'' instead of the short dictionary forms usually employed in normal male-speech.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: He has an obsession with beating a raw, unbroken egg yolk on his rice for meals and has been shown to [[BerserkButton fly into a rage]] if the yolk breaks.

However, he still agreed to a peace treaty between the two clans on a single condition: That he marry Seimei's sister and his long-time crush Ana Ketsuno. * TheRival: Seimei's.
* SquishyWizard: Invoked when he fights Gintoki and Gedomaru, who make it a key part of their strategy to brutally attack him before he can use his magic. He manages to get out of it with an illusion, but not before being thoroughly humiliated.
* StalkerWithACrush: For Ana Ketsuno.
* WeatherManipulation: Uses it to make it so that Ana Ketsuno's weather forecasts end up being wrong.

His grandfather Kahei attempted to kidnap him from his mother to raise him as his heir in place of his late son, however Ofusa fled with Kanshichiro, leaving him at the Yorozuya to shake off her pursuers. Due to looking like him, everybody initially assumes him to be Gintoki’s bastard son.
----
* BadassAndBaby: The baby to Gintoki's badass during his arc.
* DoorstopBaby: Fusa left him in front of Otose’s Snack Shop in order to shake off her pursuers. He even provides the page image!

Kanshichiro’s mother. A servant hired by Kahei Hashida to take care of his sick son Kantaro. However, the two fell in love and fled to live together. Unfortunately, Kantaro’s condition worsened and he ended up dying. As a result, Kahei set his eyes on their newborn son Kanshichiro as his new heir, leading Ofusa to flee and leave him at Otose’s Snack Shop.
----
* EyeScream: Narrowly averted in the manga. Kahei orders one of his men to stab out one of her eyes, but they are interrupted by Nizo discovering Shinpachi, Kagura and Hasegawa spying on them.
* HerHeartWillGoOn: Kantaro dies, leaving her and their son behind, yet she’s determined to keep going and raise their son alone if she has to.

* EvilOldFolks: Though he is revealed to be not as evil at the end, mostly misguided and extreme in his actions to secure his family line and company.
* EyesAlwaysShut: Keeps his eyes shut most of the time, making him look more affable and friendly. He opens his eyes whenever he acts in a more sinister manner.
* HeelFaceTurn: Redeems himself at the end of the arc and hands back Kanshichiro to his mother after realizing where he went wrong.
* KarmaHoudini: Probably the biggest example in the series, even if his crimes were more low scale compared to some of the other antagonists. He gets exactly what he wanted with the only cost to himself being accepting Ofusa as Kanshichiro’s mother. He gets absolutely no recompense for any of his villainous acts.
* WouldHitAGirl: Though he doesn’t do it himself, he has his men beat up Fusa and orders them [[EyeScream take out one of her eyes]], which was thankfully interrupted.

* CoolShades: Has a pair of sunglasses that look pretty cool. Too bad the rest of him doesn't.
* DefectorFromDecadence: Once a high-ranking member of the guard, but decided to defect to stop Otohime's plans, being labelled a rebel in the process.
* NerdGlasses: The glasses he normally wear aren't particularly flattering when combined with his receding hairline.

* BreathWeapon: Shoots powerful laser beams out of his mouth.
* CaptainErsatz: A deliberate parody of [[Film/StarWars Darth Vader]].
* HealingFactor: A robotic variation. He will self-repair if severely damaged, as seen when Katsura cuts him in half.
* TheQuietOne: Even had it enforced as a rule for the Renho and doesn't even speak himself. However, as soon as he becomes voiced, he hams it up.
* TalkingWithSigns: Established it as a rule among the Renho and employs it himself. Of course, when he begins speaking for real, he drops it.

!!Umibozu

!!!!!!Voiced by: Creator/ShowHayami

The father of Kagura and Kamui, he's another of the last members of the Yato Clan. He travels the galaxy as a famous alien hunter. Like all Yato, he fights using an umbrella. He is one of the few characters able to overpower Kagura. He first appears when aliens go berserk in Edo, and he uses the opportunity to take Kagura away with him, despite her desire to stay with the Yorozuya. He relents after fighting an especially powerful alien off together with Gintoki.

He's appeared rarely afterwards, first via a letter, warning Kagura about Sadaharu, and then via his own [[ADayInTheSpotlight day in the spotlight]]. He appears again after Gintoki defeats Hosen, warning him about Kamui, who now wants to fight Gintoki himself.
----
* ActionDad: A lot easier to pull off when you're from the Yato clan, yet he's undeniably a badass dad.
* ADayInTheSpotlight: He gets an episode where he helps liberate a planet from its rampant environmental computer. [[spoiler:It's really a hair growth shampoo commercial.]]
* AllEncompassingMantle
* ArtificialLimbs: It's hidden underneath a glove and a long sleeve, but his left arm's actually a prosthetic.
* {{Badass}}: Fighting evenly with Hosen for ''days'', while Gintoki barely survived fighting Hosen to a standstill, even with some help from the Hyakka? Blocking a WaveMotionGun with his umbrella? He more than qualifies.
** BadassCape
** BadassFamily
** BadassMustache: Some of the only real hair he has left.
** HandicappedBadass: Not at all impaired by the fact his left arm is actually a prosthetic.
* BaldOfAwesome: Not that he likes being bald...
* BloodKnight: Shades of it, in that it's heavily implied he works as an alien hunter not just to distance himself from his family (Out of fear of accidentally killing Kagura), but also because he genuinely enjoys seeking out dangerous aliens for him to hunt. Hosen also implies that he was definitely one in his youth.
* DaddyHadAGoodReasonForAbandoningYou: He tries to justify his leaving (see below), but realizes that, for the most part, he was just being a coward. However, he feels no remorse over Kamui whom he considers a "disgraceful idiot".
* DisappearedDad: He is Kagura and Kamui's DisappearedDad. He left Kagura with her dying mother after an incident with Kamui: Kamui tried to kill him, and Umibozu tried the same in retaliation. The only thing stopping him from doing so was Kagura. He left, afraid that Kagura might one day turn on him too, and that he would kill his own daughter.
* DodgyToupee: He insists otherwise, but everyone can see it. However, hair or no hair, he is undoubtedly a {{Badass}}.
* DysfunctionalFamily: He blames himself for the current state of his family.
* GogglesDoNothing
* HairTodayGoneTomorrow: Used to have a nice long braid before his onset of baldness.
* HealingFactor: As a Yato Clan member he presumably has this.
* IWasQuiteALooker
* LightningBruiser
* MeaningfulName: Umibozu is a legendary creature who lives in the ocean, characterized for having a big, bald head.
* OneManArmy: Umibozu was the only one among the Yato to stand up to Hosen and challenge his rule, taking on all of his minions alone before proceeding to fight with Hosen for three days straight.
* OverprotectiveDad: Cares deeply for Kagura, to the point where he tried to take her away from the Yorozuya (rather, away from the planet). [[note]]At least he doesn't try to shoot Kagura's friends, unlike Matsudaira...[[/note]]

When she started her singing career on the streets, Shinpachi was the first to cheer her on, and he's continued doing so as the leader of her fan club ever since.

The swordmaster who taught Gintoki, Katsura and Takasugi everything they know. He was unjustly accused of trying to raise an army and executed by the government, in return for saving his students' lives.
----
* DecapitationPresentation: Gintoki, Katsura and Takasugi learned of his execution when they received his head.
* [[DisappearedDad Disappeared Adoptive Dad]]
* FaceDeathWithDignity: While his death isn't immediately afterwards, last he's seen alive he allows himself to be taken by the Naraku while making his promise to Gintoki.
* TheFaceless: His eyes aren't shown until a flashback in the Courtesan of a Nation Arc, which showed him to look either like a long haired and gentle version of Sougo, or a white haired version of Katsura.
* HistoricalDomainCharacter: Loosely based on the historical [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoshida_Sh%C5%8Din Yoshida Shoin]].
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: Long-haired? Check. Boyish good looks? Check.
* TheMentor: To Gintoki, Katsura and Takasugi.
* TheObiWan: Considering how he taught Gintoki, Katsura, and Takasugi everything they know about the path of bushido and the amount of respect those three ''still'' have for him in return, Shoyo-sensei definitely qualifies despite appearing only in brief flashbacks.
* OffWithHisHead: The Bakufu ordered him executed and had his head cut off.
* PosthumousCharacter: He's dead in the present time of the series, but we learn of him through flashbacks and accounts from other characters.

* DirtyCoward: Will gladly offer up the prince to save his own hide.
* {{Jerkass}}: He's rude and constantly insults everybody, including the prince.

Sogo's older sister, who raised him after their parents died. She and Hijikata fell in love with each other, but Hijikata rejected her because he believed his dangerous lifestyle would end up leaving her alone and unhappy.
----
* DisposableWoman: A textbook example. She was Sogo's sister, Hijikata's FirstLove and beloved by the whole Shinsengumi. She was treated accordingly i.e. killed off to push the guys' story and never mentioned again once her arc was over.
* TheHeart: Of the Shinsengumi.
* IllGirl: Suffers from a disease that keeps her bedridden most of the time.
* IncurableCoughOfDeath: She often coughs up blood whenever put into stressful situations.
* PeacefulInDeath: She eventually dies peacefully with her beloved younger brother at her side.
* PromotionToParent: Had to raise Sogo when their parents died. He's as a result completely devoted to her.
* SiblingYinYang: She is as considerate and gentle as Sougo is unkind and obnoxious.
* SoProudOfYou: Tells Sogo this with her last breath.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Tabasco and spicy food.
* TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth: Kind-hearted and loved by all, she inevitably ends up dying in the hospital.

http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/number_502_2446.png
!!!!!!Voiced by: Creator/HiroshiKamiya

The last android built by Professor Ryuzan Hayashi, who also built Tama, before his death. He initially works under Professor Meguro after Ryuzan’s death, but quickly betrays him to fulfill his own plans. [[spoiler:It is quickly revealed that transferred his personality data and memories over to this android, essentially making him the Professor.]]
----
* ArcVillain: Of the Fuyo arc.
* ArtificialHuman: The last of Professor Hayashi's androids.
* BadassLongcoat: Sports a red one after betraying [[BigBadWannabe Meguro]].
* TheDragon: Initially looks to be one to Professor Meguro, but very quickly takes over the ArcVillain role.
* FakingTheDead: [[spoiler:Meguro thought he’d killed Ryuzan, but as it turned out he was in his new android body, who got up after the attempt and then used the news of his death to his advantage.]]
* FromASingleCell: A variation. He claims that as long as his central processor is intact his body will repair itself and that said processor is tinier than a single micron. [[spoiler:Gintoki gets through this by shoving him in the way of the beam of energy under the Terminal.]]
* HealingFactor: His body will always repair itself so long as his central processor is safe.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Sort of. [[spoiler:As a human Ryuzan Hayashi was desperate to avoid loneliness, causing him to create androids as company for both himself and his sick daughter. Unfortunately he ended up killing her when he tried to transfer her personality data over into Tama.]]
* KickTheDog: Ordering the employees of the Hayashi Research Institute to be crushed to death.
* PleaseDontLeaveMe: [[spoiler:Screams it out to Tama as his last words before being destroyed completely.]]
* TheStarscream: Betrays his apparent master Meguro and takes over in his stead.
* TheStoic: More than justified by being an android.
* WaistcoatOfStyle: Wore one initially but then adds a red longcoat on top of it after betraying his master.

!!Asaemon Ikeda
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shinigami23452565_6917.png

A rogue member of the Ikeda Clan, which comprise a long line of sword testers and executioners for the Bakufu. She is on the run for supposedly murdering the clan’s former head, who had previously adopted her. She grew up and bonded with her adoptive brother, who would eventually take on the position as the clan’s head and the name Yaemon. It's quickly revealed that the former head had aided a number of criminals to escape because he believed them to be innocent. The matter was handled within the clan, allowing him to commit {{seppuku}} with Asaemon as his second. [[spoiler:She takes over the clan and the name of Yaemon at the end of the Shinigami Arc.]]
----
* AbusiveParents: Her real father was a DirtyCoward who hit her and tried to sell her to the Hitotsubashi in exchange for his own life.
* AchillesHeel: The Ikeda style of swordsmanship is mainly used for the sake of quick and painless executions. While it's [[ImplausibleFencingPowers very effective in combat]], the style has a critical weakness in that the user is left open after an attack, which can be exploited by making the user waste their attack.
* ActionGirl
* TheAtoner
* CainAndAbel: The Abel to Yaemon’s Cain.
* CoolMask: Shaped like a skull.
* DarkIsNotEvil: She's an executioner wearing black clothes along with a creepy skull mask, but has a kind heart.
* EtTuBrute: Towards her brother Yaemon when she finds out he sold her and Gintoki out to the Hitotsubashi.
* FashionableAsymmetry: Her left sock is much longer than her right, and she wears an armwarmer on her left arm.
* ForgottenFirstMeeting: She met Gintoki when she was a child when he appeared before the Hitotsubashi in an attempt to get them to spare the people her father sold out, including herself.
* HappilyAdopted: By the former head of the Ikeda Clan, though it didn't [[{{Seppuku}} end]] [[OffWithHisHead happily]].
* IaijutsuPractitioner: Her style of swordsmanship involves quickly drawing, slashing and then sheathing the sword again in the blink of an eye.
* ImplausibleFencingPowers: Most swordsmen in the series get some improbable feats, but she and her brother Yaemon take it to another level with the special techniques of the Ikeda Clan, which allows them to cut things in a way so they either stay attached or can be easily reattached. The primary use of the technique lies in executing criminals without letting their heads fall off, letting them die with some semblance of dignity.
* InTheHood: While she mostly keeps it down, she wears a hooded cloak.
* LegacyCharacter: [[spoiler:Invoked, Yaemon hands over his name and leadership of the Ikeda Clan to Asaemon, as it is tradition for every head of the clan to bear the name.]]
* ThatManIsDead: [[spoiler:Declares Asaemon to be dead and executed after taking on the name Yaemon and leadership of the Ikeda Clan. To symbolize this she cuts her skull mask in half.]]
* ZettaiRyouiki: One leg only.

!!Chidori Captain
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chidori_captain_188.png

A captain of the Chidori Space Pirates, which was in the past an organization rivaling the Harusame. He used to supervise the Governor-General’s daughter and had plans to shape and rule beside her. Too bad for him he encountered Sakamoto, who ended up taking both the daughter and his fleet, turning them into the Kaientai. With the Chidori now a broken shadow of its former strength, the Captain seeks revenge against the people that stole his fleet and ruined his ambitions.
----
* TheChewToy: He’s constantly puked on, injured and treated with virtually no respect from anybody but his crew.
* TheFaceless: His face is almost constantly obscured; whether it be by smoke, puke or bandages. The above image is the closest look you’ll get of his face.
* NoNameGiven: Whatever his name is, nobody mentions it.
* TheRemnant: Leads one of the few remaining cells of the Chidori Space Pirates, which once rivaled the Harusame.
* SpacePirate: In particular, he dealt in slave trade.
* TheStarscream: Planned to usurp Mutsu as the Governor-General with her father dead.

!!Kozo Etekichi
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/etekichi_kozou_1774.png

A famous thief, known for stealing from criminal organisations and exposing their crimes, while the money is used to buy bananas to the poor. While he had seemingly retired for a while, he returns for a time in order to find a successor and sets his eyes on Kondo.

As it turns out, the two already share history: The famous thief was once the chief priest of a shrine dedicated to the monkey god Sarugami. For a time, Kondo attended the temple school where he taught, going from a troublemaker and a thief to a diligent and kind boy. The shrine was burned down in an incident with loan sharks and since then, Kondo never returned and the chief priest turned into the thief Kozo Etekichi.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Definitely monkeys. His given name as a thief (Etekichi Kozou) can be translated as “Lucky Monkey Boy”, he’s the chief priest of a shrine dedicated to a monkey god, and he hands out bananas to the poor.
* CoolOldGuy: He might be too old for it, but he still goes out of his way to expose the real criminals and gives out food to the poor.
* GoOutWithASmile: Dies with a proud smile, while holding hands with his student Kondo.
* JustLikeRobinHood: Takes the money he steals from criminals and buys bananas, which he then distributes to the poor.
* MentorOccupationalHazard: Kondo’s old teacher and appropriately, he ends up dying while sharing a heartfelt moment with his student.
* StealthClothes: Appropriately for a thief in the setting. Surprisingly for the trope, he’s actually competent.

!!Rappa Momochi
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rappa_momochi_8113.png

Head of the Momochi clan and one of three great leaders of the Iga ninja clans alongside Zenzo Hattori and Gaimon Fujibayashi.
----
* NinjaMaid: Disguised as a maid that carts around the supposed Momochi, which is actually her puppet and also serves as a decoy.
* PuppetFighter: Fights using the puppet in the wheelchair she carts around. Said puppet is multi-purpose, armed with cannons and blades, but also quite capable of making tea or serving as a toilet.
* ReverseMole: Pretends to ally with Gaimon and the Kiheitai in order to [[spoiler:smuggle the shogun away to safety]], before betraying them.
* TheStoic: She’s calm and reserved, with little deviation in facial expression.
* VariableLengthChain: Chains are among her puppet's arsenal, which she uses to catch and restrain her foes.
* WaveMotionGun: The puppet that she poses as herself has one built into it, which she blasts Gaimon with.

!!Gaimon Fujibayashi
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gaimon_fujibayashi_6814.png

Head of the Fujibayashi clan and one of the three great leaders of the Iga ninja clans alongside Zenzo Hattori and Rappa Momochi.
----
* AnArmAndALeg: Hijikata cuts off one of his leg in a surprise attack. He still attempts a shot at the Shogun despite it.
* BigOlEyebrows: They’re massive and bushy.
* EvilOldFolks: Seems rather elderly, but has by no means any noble intentions.
* FastTunnelling: A master of digging through the ground to reach and surprise his foes, even getting the drop at Kagura and almost getting a shot at the Shogun.
* LargeAndInCharge: He’s a huge, yeti-like man, yet also leads one of the great Iga ninja clans.
* OhCrap: In addition to losing his leg, he’s beyond shocked to learn that [[spoiler:the Shogun faked his death and is disguised among Momochi’s ninjas.]]
* TheQuisling: Betrays Iga to let the Yato in and wreck havoc in the region, all for a chance to ally with them and earn him a place in the new world after destroying the Bakufu.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Loses his leg in the very same chapter he’s introduced and is seemingly killed in the next.
