->'''Voiced by''': Creator/MaiKadowaki (Japanese), Creator/CynthiaMartinez (English)

The TokenMiniMoe of ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'', and the protagonist in this continuity. While living peacefully with her family, a magic stick named Magical Ruby chose her as its master. Her job as a MagicalGirl is to capture a number of powerful cards.
----
* AccidentalPervert: In 2wei, [[spoiler:when she extracts Gilgamesh from his corrupt form he's stark naked, and she lands with her left hand on "[[GroinAttack something soft]]". Gilgamesh quips that she should be more gentle, and when she notices exactly what she's squeezing she freaks out.]]
* AfraidOfTheirOwnStrength: Linked with her IJustWantToBeNormal wish in the first season. Illya remembers that it was her who defeated Saber Alter after she annihilated Assassin. When she realized that she almost killed Luvia, Rin and Miyu too, she immediately teleports home (to everyone's surprise) and tries to quit being a magical girl the next day. Her mother snaps her out of her depression.
* AscendedFangirl: Of {{magical girl}}s in general. [[SubvertedTrope Not that she wanted to become one...]]
* BadassAdorable: This story still takes place in the ''Fate'' universe, so her magical powers are put into combat... against ''Servants''.
* BareYourMidriff: The [[spoiler:Archer and Lancer Installs expose her stomach]].
* BigBrotherAttraction: Magical Ruby notes that she has a "forbidden love" with her brother, Shirou.
* BornLucky: [[PlayedForLaughs Played humorously]]. Implied by Chloe as an explanation for how she keeps dodging her attacks.
* ButNotTooForeign: Half-Japanese, half-German.
* CutenessProximity: With maids of all things! Also being called "onee-chan".
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: Her Zwei form. [[spoiler:By combining the two Kaleidosticks, she can fight on-par with an unleashed Gilgamesh. However her internal organs take damage when she uses them as pseudo magic circuits to increase her power, prompting Ruby to forbid her from such a technique when she mentions it.]]
* DualWielding:
** Kanshou and Bakuya with the Archer Card Install.
** Her Zwei form has her wield [[spoiler:Magical Ruby and Magical Sapphire at the same time]].
** In 3rei, she [[spoiler:Installs]] the Saber Card and Includes the Caster Card to [[spoiler:stab Darius with Rule Breaker]].
* {{Fetish}}: Turns out her reasoning takes a massive hit once she is around a {{Meido}}. Hilarious results follow.
* GenreSavvy: As a MagicalGirl fan, she can see the complications and cliches in her card hunting activities coming from afar.
** The first thing she does is suspect Ruby. Until she mentioned the power to control love, she didn't actually care about the prospects of being a MagicalGirl. She still got dragged into it unwilling.
** She taught herself how to fly and does so effortlessly because "don't all magical girls fly?"
* HeroicAlbino: Unlike the original ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'', she's the main protagonist here, and has none of the creepy child traits that made her an EvilAlbino.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: She was dragged into MagicalGirl shenaningans because she happened to watch Rin and Luvia fighting. This earns her a rather difficult mentor and a magical stick that sends her to chase down magical cards. She wasn't thrilled. It's also {{deconstruct|ion}}ed later on; [[spoiler:the logical conclusion of her returning to normal would be as if she never met Rin, Miyu, Luvia, and Chloe, rendering everything that have happened meaningless. Also, Chloe will disappear if it comes true-- naturally, she violently rejects this desire of Illya]]. The whole thing sounds like a ShoutOut to (the manga version of) ''Manga/CardcaptorSakura'' [[spoiler:in which Sakura's failure to pass Yue's trial will erase absolutely every memory pertaining to gathering the cards]].
* LittleMissBadass: A little girl with absurd magical potential who gets to fight some of ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight''[='=]s iconic heroic spirits throughout the story.
* MagicalGirlWarrior: In the tradition of shows like Manga/CardcaptorSakura, Franchise/LyricalNanoha and Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica. Illya fights to save her town from disaster, all while coming to terms with her newfound identity.
* MysticalWhiteHair: White hair as part of her Homunculus origins.
* {{Nosebleed}}: Female example. Gets one after seeing Ruby "exposes" an unconscious Shiro. Slight PlotPoint, as blood is needed to enforce a contract.
* OutOfFocus: During [[spoiler:Alternate Shirou's]] {{Backstory}} where he is the [[HeroOfAnotherStory protagonist.]]
* PinkHeroine: She wears a very frilly, pink outfit as a Magical Girl.
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Miyu's blue.
* ResignedToTheCall: Illya wasn't interested in becoming a Magical Girl, but Ruby forced her into becoming one anyways.
* SchoolgirlLesbians: With Miyu and Chloe.
* ScrewYourself: In [=2wei=], Dark Illya blackmails her into supplying mana via kisses on multiple occasions, which often become extremely intimate. Illya is extremely reluctant to do so and asks if there are any alternatives, but hearing [[IntimateHealing what those alternatives are]] embarrasses her out of her mind.
* SecondHourSuperpower: Despite being shown several times, Illya herself doesn't actually Install any cards until the early parts of ''3rei''.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Downplayed. Her [[spoiler:Archer and Lancer Installs]] show signs of this.
* SuperReflexes: She has a knack for dodging attacks in both her trance and tranceless states. [[spoiler:Bazett, a close-ranged fighter, even acknowledges her reflexes]].
* SupernaturallyDeliciousAndNutritious: Chloe receiving prana through IntimateHealing (kissing) from Illya is "like getting it from 10 other people."
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: [[spoiler:Illya's "Grail" mode is capable of tapping the cancelled Grail's power, granting her enough prana to fully utilize the Archer card, project several weapons, and fire Excalibur. In 2wei, the personality literally splits, resulting in Chloe, [[SubvertedTrope who retains the combat competency, but isn't actually evil]].]]
* TakingAThirdOption: [[spoiler:When forced between saving Miyu or the world, she chooses to save both.]]
* UnderwearOfPower: Her [[spoiler:Archer and Lancer Install, exposing parts of legs in the latter, but fully in the former.]]
* UnskilledButStrong: When compared to Luvia and Rin. She also gets a large amount of prana from [[spoiler:being the Cancelled Grail, which manifests as a SuperpoweredEvilSide.]] However, once [[spoiler:Chloe splits from her]], she becomes noticeably weaker.
** A large number of Illya's attacks involve [[MoreDakka simply firing projectiles created from her unlimited supply of prana]]. In addition to the aforementioned attacks, Rin can also utilizes said-prana to fuel her Magecraft.
** It's also {{deconstructed}} in one instance. [[spoiler:Her inability to control her power leads to her SuperpoweredEvilSide kicking in, resulting in a huge explosion which could've killed her allies, had Miyu not shielded it in time. In the anime her partner's scolding puts her into a minor HeroicBSOD, leading to a TenMinuteRetirement.]]
* WeakButSkilled: After [[spoiler:Chloe manifests herself]] at the beginning of ''2wei'', Illya's Prisma trance significantly weakens. Unlike Miyu, she can't use Installs [[spoiler:until 3rei]] to overcome her weaknesses. Instead, she is creative with her attacks and works well with her allies. With the exception of [[spoiler:Gilgamesh]], all of her fights in ''2wei'' are won through teamwork and her intelligent usage of the Cards.
** BarrierWarrior: Her barriers have multiple uses including restraining or blocking attacks and are a part of her standard arsenal of attacks. The anime plays up this aspect.
** RazorWind: Her Schneiden, which is sharp enough to cut a tree in half.
* ZettaiRyouiki: Her default MagicalGirl costume is Grade A.

->'''Voiced by''': Creator/KaoriNazuka (Japanese), Creator/CaitlynnFrench (English)

A girl that Sapphire contracted when she abandoned Luvia, she quite literally conveniently appeared just when the stick required a person to contract with. Despite her past circumstances prior to meeting Sapphire being a massive question mark, Luvia just rolls with the situation, and takes Miyu into her "service", going as far as giving her the Edelfelt surname. She lives in the Edelfelt mansion (just beside Illya's house), and works for Luvia as a maid.

Unlike Illya, Miyu is extremely gifted in academics and sports, but has a massive problem interacting with other girls her age. She also has a ''very'' jaded outlook on the world, and shows little of the wonder a girl her age should have.
----
* TheAce: She excels at mathematics, cooking, athletics and can draw based on principles like cubism, which are far beyond the reach of any normal elementary school student. Ironically, her expert knowledge of physics gives her a disadvantage with respect to being a magical girl.
* BadassInDistress: Her captivity by the Ainsworths and being trapped in New Fuyuki City kickstarts the plot of ''3rei''.
* BareYourMidriff: The Saber Install used against Berserker.
* BigBrotherWorship: [[spoiler:She has this with her Shirou. She becomes shockingly spoiled around him]]
* BrokenBird: [[spoiler:Courtesy of being her universe's Holy Grail, being held captive and having her captors wound her because her blood has magic properties, and her brother being held captive and tortured by the same people who keep her prisoner.]]
* BrutallyHonest: Miyu is rather upfront about the fact she doesn't bother to remember any of Illya's other friends names, even after she had been hanging out with them for a month or two!
* CanonForeigner: She does not have a ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' counterpart.
* ComicallySerious: Oh so much, in fact here is her default [[http://i50.tinypic.com/33lkmkg.png face]] to the wacky hijinks!
* ConditionedToAcceptHorror: [[spoiler:What her world has done to her.]]
* CoolHorse: Comes with [[spoiler:the Rider Card Install]].
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler:She's her universe's Holy Grail, and up until ''3rei'' had been escaping from the Ainsworths.]]
* DarkMagicalGirl: She has all the makings of one, though the only time she is against Illya was when she was TheRival in the beginning.
* {{Expy}}: She borrows heavily from [[spoiler:Sakura Matou's backstory as an abused Grail conduit]] in ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight''.
* FatalFlaw / PoorCommunicationKills: She's selfless, but her communication skills are horrible. These two traits put together have lead to many problems throughout the story.
** She was the cause of [[spoiler:Illya's TenMinuteRetirement]]. Although she intended to [[spoiler:keep her from harm]], her harsh words cause a misunderstanding between the two.
** She [[spoiler:warps Luvia and Rin out of the Mirror World]] and tries to fight [[spoiler:Berserker]] alone. While she does succeed in [[spoiler:taking some of his lives]], her inability to [[spoiler:finish him off]] nearly gets her killed.
** In ''2wei'', she misunderstands Illya's wish to be normal and chooses to face [[spoiler:Chloe]] alone. She takes action without any form of assistance from her allies and doesn't consult anyone about her decision. If Illya hadn't interrupted, the two would have [[spoiler:killed each other]].
** Later, in an attempt to quickly end the fight, she uses [[spoiler:Bellerophon against Bazett]], ignoring Sapphire's warnings not to do so. Had the [[spoiler:Pegasus]] not been the source of the attack, her heart would have been pierced by [[spoiler:Fragarach]].
** At the end of ''2wei'', she willingly lets [[spoiler:Card!Gilgamesh absorb]] her so that Illya [[spoiler:can escape.]] All she manages to do is force Illya to engage [[spoiler:Gilgamesh alone]] in order to save her.
* GiveHerANormalLife: [[spoiler:What her brother wanted for her. He fought the Ainsworth in order to send her off to another universe so that she could have a normal, better life. Too bad it didn't last long.]]
* HiddenDepths: Who would have thought the stoic, serious Miyu [[spoiler:loved bear pajamas and was very spoiled around her brother.]]
* IfItsYouItsOkay: Miyu has pretty obvious crush on Illya. [[spoiler:And Chloe too.]]
* TheLancer: To drive the point home, she uses the Lancer card in her first appearance.
* LeotardOfPower: Her MagicalGirl form.
* MagicalGirlWarrior: Unlike Illya, she has a decidedly more no-nonsense approach on how to deal with things and is quicker to use precise attacks.
* MakeAWish: ''3rei'' reveals that she was a [[spoiler:Child of God who has the ability to indiscriminately grant wishes]], but loses that ability [[spoiler:when she becomes six years old.]]
** MundaneWish: She spent her last wish [[spoiler:to become Shirou's biological sister, changing the color of her eyes from red to that of Shirou's.]]
* {{Meido}}: In exchange for shelter and living expenses, she works as a maid for Luvia. Once Illya finds out, she goes crazy about the prospect of having a maid as a friend. The results are... interesting.
* NewTransferStudent: Like Illya thought...
* NoNameGiven: She isn't an Edelfelt. Luvia acts like her sister, but her real family name isn't given.
** ''3rei'' reveals that her full name is [[spoiler:Miyu Emiya, given from her adopted family. Before, her birth name was Miyu Sakatsuki.]]
* NoSocialSkills: When it seems Miyu is absolutely better then Illya in everything, Miyu completely sucks at interacting with others of her age. Justified [[spoiler:by her being kept captive by the Ainsworths because of her power as her universe's Holy Grail, and thus not being able to interact with other children]].
** It's later revealed that [[spoiler:she was raised alone by her mother as a child and isolated from other children in order to take advantage of her wish granting abilities. After she was adopted by Kiritsugu, he and Shirou raised her in isolation to hide her from others.]]
* NotQuiteFlight: Miyu can't actually fly because she has mental hangups properly picturing it. Instead, she solidifies magical energy to momentarily create footholds mid-air that she can repeatedly jump off of.
* ParodySue: Miyu is ridiculously good at ''almost'' everything, she aces all her tests at school, bakes a fabulous wedding cake using only basic school kitchen utensils, creates art pieces so incredible her teacher questions how she's supposed to grade them, etc. She's also very powerful both physically and with magic... but she simply can't ''fly'' properly unlike Illya or Chloe, which for a MagicalGirl is a big hinderance. More humorously, she also can't ''dance''.
* PsychosomaticSuperpowerOutage: [[spoiler:She can't fly not because of her knowledge of physics, but because she is too broken to imagine herself capable of flying]].
* RedOniBlueOni: The quiet and reserved blue to Illyasviel's outgoing red.
* TheSpock: One of the reasons she can't fly.
* SchoolgirlLesbians: With Illya and Chloe.
* SteppingStonesInTheSky: Not literal stones, but since Miyu can't fly properly, she instead creates hovering platforms with magic to jump off. Combined with her speed, it's just as efficient as real {{Flight}}.
* TheStoic: Whatever happens to her, she rarely loses her composure unless things get ''really'' critical. [[spoiler:3rei gives a bunch of very dark reasons for this]].
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Lampshaded by [[spoiler:her brother]] no less.
-->[[spoiler:'''Miyu's Brother''']]: But. Um. What's with that lewd outfit of hers? I think [[spoiler:big brother]] here may need to lecture her...
* SugarAndIcePersonality: She's usually very stoic and distant, Illya is the only one she shows her sweet side to. Lampshaded at some point from Illya's friends. [[spoiler:She is ''very'' sweet to her brother to the point that Illya and Chloe couldn't believe when they found out.]]
* SupremeChef: She can cook an entire feast ''with only a frying pan''. More comedically, she also made a whole wedding cake from "left overs".
* TrappedInAnotherWorld: Invoked. Her brother made a wish to save her, but since she couldn't be saved in her own collapsing world, she was sent to a different world where she could be saved, Illya's world.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Illya.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: [[spoiler:Before she was abducted by Julian, Miyu was very innocent like Illya.]]
* ZettaiRyouiki: The Rider Install.

[[folder:Chloe von Einzbern / Dark Illya]]
!!Chloe von Einzbern
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kuro_3631.png]]
->'''Voiced by''': Creator/ChiwaSaito (Japanese), Creator/KiraVincentDavis (English)

Illya's cousin, recently transferred in from Germany. Or at least, that's the story Illya (and later on her mom Irisviel) ''tells'' everyone. In truth she's a sort of a magical clone created by accident when Illya was helping Rin in stabilizing the dragon pulse beneath Fuyuki city, with the core of her being based around the Archer card.

Her personality however comes from the supressed memories of Illya's original purpose as the Holy Grail conduit, and she's rather bitter at the fact that Illya's been able to live a normal life ignorant of this.
----
* AbnormalAmmo: Comes with the [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Archer Card]]. Her bow shoots swords, in addition to normal arrows.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: Probably as a reference to [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Archer]].
* AntiHero: She is Kiritsugu's daughter after all. Bonus points for using Heroic Spirit Emiya's abilities, who was also an anti-hero. This pops up in ''3rei'' in that she simply doesn't care that her actions [[spoiler:will result in the destruction of the world.]] She fights for the sake of the people she cares about, and ''only'' those that she cares about.
* ArcherArchetype: She is using the Archer card. Although she works well with allies, she is more than willing to take independent actions such as in ''3rei'' where she [[spoiler:decides to fight Illya right after regrouping with her]].
* ArtificialHuman: She's a magical clone built around the Archer card, and can only continue existing for as long as Illya provides her with prana, or someone doesn't dispel the Archer card.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: Comes with the Archer card, in addition to its projection magic. Most of its uses are [[PlayedForLaughs humorous, at best]]. It's used a bit more seriously in 3rei, as this is how Chloe dispels her {{synchronization}}.
* BadassAdorable: Naturally comes with being related to Kiritsugu and Illya.
* BerserkButton: Chloe doesn't like being called a [[spoiler:"secondhand clone".]]
* BiTheWay: She acquires mana via kisses, which she usually takes from Illya or Miyu. She does mention she could get mana from anyone and would be more than happy to acquire mana from Illya's brother, though this was more an attempt to blackmail Illya into kissing her.
* BlackBox: She understands the fundamentals of Projection, but she doesn't know why she knows them. This can be traced to the fact that neither she nor anyone else knows the identity of the Archer Card, which limits her ability to use it. [[spoiler:Once she begins fighting alongside Shirou, she starts to better understand the Card]].
* BowAndSwordInAccord: The Archer card's powers grant her abilities for both melee and ranged combat.
* CloningBlues: Chloe is the suppressed memory/destiny of Illya as a Holy Grail Conduit given form. She's not happy at being abandoned.
* CombatPragmatist: She's a difficult enemy for Illya and Miyu not because she's strong, but because she's a tricky opponent to fight. She takes full advantage of the Archer Card's strengths, using Projection for its utility and sniping her enemies from afar.
** In ''3rei'', she [[spoiler:defeats Angelica by teleporting into her blind spot while Shirou acts as a decoy]].
* DarkMagicalGirl: Unlike Illya who in this series led a happy life, Chloe was sealed away and, once freed, proceeded to direct her pent-up anger against Illya, coming very close to killing her several times before Illya can even attempt to understand what's happening. In a very classic turn of events, Chloe eventually confesses that all she wants is to be alive and have family/friends. Things work out in the end.
* DarkSkinnedBlonde: Not quite, her hair is actually lavender, but looks white-ish under certain light.
* DualWielding: Kanshou and Bakuya, Archer's dual daggers.
* EnemyWithout: Averted after being accepted into Illya's family.
* EvilTwin: Less evil, more frustrated at the pointlessness of her existence, at least at first. Averted later on when she makes a HeelFaceTurn and actively supports Illya.
* {{Expy}}: She is basically the original ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' Illya inserted into ''Kaleid Liner Prisma'''s AlternateContinuity.
* FilleFatale: Successfully seduced several of [[SchoolgirlLesbians Illya's friends]], and has repeatedly attempted to do the same to [[BigBrotherAttraction Shirou]].
* {{Foil}}: To Illya. Ruby even lampshades it.
* ForcefulKiss: She forcefully French kisses Miyu during a fight to acquire mana, keeping it up until she's incapacitated.
* GirlishPigtails: Likes wearing these when she's in casual dress. To differentiate from how Illya does her hair, Chloe's twintails are usually higher on her head, much like Rin's. Weirdly enough, in the AnimatedAdaptation she only has one of them on her right side.
* HeelFaceTurn: More like heel face pound on the head courtesy of Irisviel.
* InSeriesNickname: She is also Illya, so Rin started calling her 'Kuro' (Black) because of her darker skin to differentiate the two of them. Kuro then took a Western equivalent, "Chloe", for her new name.
-->Chloe: "Kuro? What am I, a cat...?"
* IntimateHealing: Dark Illya obtains the mana she needs to survive by consuming saliva, and notes that she gets ten times the amount of mana from [[ScrewYourself Illya]] than from anyone else. Dark Illya frequently tries to get their mana transfer sessions to go beyond just kissing, but is interrupted each time she tries to do so.
* TheLancer: Even more so than Miyu.
* {{Leitmotif}}: Shoujo Shinka, or Emiya. It first plays when she fights the Saber Card in Illya's body and again when the party fights spoiler:Gilgamesh.
* LittleMissSnarker: Another reference to [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Archer]].
* LovableSexManiac: She knows a whole lot more about sex than a girl of her supposed age should, and what's more knows how to put that knowledge to ''practical'' use. When Illya is left embarrassed out of her mind when Chloe tells her what an alternate method of mana transfer would entail, Chloe sneers at her prudishness.
* MakeAWish: Her wish is to have her own existence.
* MundaneUtility: She uses Projection to make clothes, including her battle wear. She also uses it to make a chair.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: While "Chloe" is her ([[UndeadTaxExemption assumed]]) formal name, "Kuro" continues to be frequently used by most of the cast. Compounding the issue, at least among foreign fans, is the inconsistency with which name is used in fan translations.
* SchoolgirlLesbians: Chloe is very flirtatious with both Miyu and Illya, and frequently tries to escalate the nature of their mana exchange sessions beyond just kissing.
* ScrewYourself: Kuro acquires mana from kissing people, and notes that while she could do it with anyone, it's far more effective with Illya. As a result, she makes out with Illya on multiple occasions in a ''very'' intimate fashion. When Illya asks if there are any alternatives to kissing, Kuro states that there ''[[IntimateHealing are]]'', but that Illya would never agree to them. Kuro herself isn't opposed to those alternative methods, and openly tries to initiate more intimate encounters between herself and Illya.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: Takes this up since [[spoiler:she takes Rin's place in explaining things for 3rei.]]
* StormOfBlades: She can fire swords as projectiles using Projection, but not to the same extent that [[spoiler:Gilgamesh]] can do it.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: Downplayed. Chloe is an antagonistic version of Illya herself with all the mage training Illya lacks, though she's just angry about being sealed rather than outright evil. This also leads Chloe to an eventual HeelFaceTurn.
* {{Synchronization}}: With Illya. Even if there is a mage who can remove the curse, she decides to keep it because she likes Illya, in her own strange way.
** [[spoiler: She removes the curse in 3rei in order to fight Illya.]]
* {{Teleportation}}: She can utilize short-ranged teleportation, as noted by Miyu. [[spoiler:She uses it to get behind Angelica and land a strike from her blind side]].
* WalkingSpoiler: She becomes integral to ''2wei''[='=]s plot, and the importance of her role also extends to ''3rei''.
* ZettaiRyouiki: '''Grade A'''! She seems to aim for Grade S, the only thing missing here is a {{Tsundere}} personality, which she's actually kind of working on.

[[folder:Magical Ruby and Magical Sapphire]]
[[quoteright:327:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rubysapphire.png]]
->'''Voiced by''': Creator/NaokoTakano (Ruby, Anime), Creator/JojiNakata (Ruby, Drama CD), Creator/MiyuMatsuki (seasons 1-3), Creator/YumiKakazu (season 4) (Sapphire) (Japanese), Joanne Bonasso (Ruby), Molly Searcy (Sapphire) (English)

A pair of sentient magical artifacts created by Zeltrech, Ruby and Sapphire were initially loaned to Rin and Luvia to accomplish the card gathering mission. They are tools of immense power, capable of creating magical effects that would likely kill a normal wizard due to excessive mana use... Only if they feel like it.

They eventually grew tired of the near-constant squabbling that the two female mages did, and went on their way to find more... appropriate masters. Although technically made at the same time, Ruby sees herself as the older sister, and is treated that way by Sapphire.
----
* ClingyMacGuffin: They will force Illya and Miyu to be magical girls until such time as they feel like annulling the contract. And no one else can do anything to change that.
* {{Deadpan Snarker}}s
* EmpathicWeapon: They basically use the power of a person's heart to pull infinite power from the multi-verse.
* {{Expy}}: Their GenkiGirl and ShrinkingViolet sisters routine is based on how Kohaku and Hisui act in TYPE-MOON's ''VisualNovel/{{Tsukihime}}'' series. They even have the same Japanese voice actors in the anime.
* HeroicComedicSociopath: Their first plan to deal with anything is generally "explode it with maximum prejudice". And they both seem to loathe Rin and Luvia. Though, really, this applies far, far more to Ruby than Sapphire, who is much more reasonable and has been known to shut down Ruby's antics when they get out of hand and punish her accordingly. Note that Ruby's behaviour is ''toned down'' compared to her appearence in VisualNovel/FateHollowAtaraxia, where she is really into humiliating her own master, specifically Rin.
* LoyalPhlebotinum: Refuse to leave Illya and Miyu, first out of annoyance with Rin and Luvia, but later out of loyalty to the two girls.
* MentorMascot
* RedOniBlueOni: Magical Ruby is the extroverted Red Oni and Magical Sapphire is the introverted Blue Oni.
* ServileSnarker: To their initial masters, Rin and Luvia. [[WithFriendsLikeThese Not the sticks' fault.]]
* ShipperOnDeck
* SiblingIncest: Magical Ruby acts this way towards Magical Sapphire in Episode 7.
* {{Troll}}: Ruby, oh so much. The first two anime specials in particular can be summed up as "Ruby trolls Illya and Rin ''endlessly''".

[[folder:Rin Tohsaka]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rin.png]]
->'''Voiced by''': Creator/KanaUeda (Japanese), Creator/CarliMosier (English)

Ruby's former master, and a mage-in-study at the Tower of London. In the manga she gets roped into retrieving the cards from Fuyuki City after she gets into a brawl with Luvia that destroyed a ''huge'' chunk of the school, while in the anime she volunteers when she hears that, if she succeeds, she'd be taken under Zeltrech's wing as an apprentice.

While being typically abrasive and possessing a hair-trigger temper (''especially'' with regards to Luvia), Rin shows real concern to Illya, and understands that the responsibilities thrust on the girl might be too much for a girl her age to bear.
----
* AdaptationalVillainy: Downplayed. A minor example in which she's willing to declare a child as her slave and make her fight corrupted heroes against her will. In [[Manga/AllAroundTypeMoon a side story where Prisma-Verse Illya meets main story Rin,]] she considers her much nicer than the pushier, bossy counterpart she's used to.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: In 3rei, she and Luvia have been [[spoiler:subjected to the Ainsworths' "doll-ification" thanks to Angelica's powers]].
* ButtMonkey: Alongside Luvia. Most frequently during battles.
* CatGirl: When transformed into Kaleido Ruby.
* ClingyJealousGirl: She hates it if anyone is trying to get close to Shirou.
* CombatPragmatist: To the point even Luvia has respect for this quality of Rin.
* DangerouslyShortSkirt: It was even lamphaded by Shirou when he was under a truth serum.
* GirlishPigtails
* MagicalGirl: Was one before Magical Ruby switched her for Illya.
* {{Meido}}: To Luvia, thanks to a SchmuckBait.
* OppositesAttract: She admits that Shirou's own philosophy is the exact opposite of hers but she still likes him.
* TheRival: To Luvia. Both in magic and love.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: Rin's 'explain things' glasses make a triumphant return when Rin and co are having a strategy meeting, She even dons them in her maid outfit.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork / VitriolicBestBuds: For all their showing of supposed hatred, Rin and Luvia constantly seem to work together and support each other when they really need to..
* TookALevelInKindness: She lets Illya off the hook after noticing the girl's deteriorating emotional condition after her first fight against Berserker. Compare that to Rin at the beginning of the series, who outright declares Illya her Servant and forces her into fights she has no business in.
* {{Tsundere}}: Rin is Rin, it doesn't matter in which universe. That said, this incarnation shows more of her ''dere'' side than Rin normally does, as with her smiling and praising Illya for her showing in her first battle.
** Lampshaded by Kuro when Rin uses a typical "I'm not doing this for your sake" speech to Shirou. "Wow, that's a template."

Sapphire's former master, and like Rin, a mage-in-training in Tower of London facility. Despite being ostensibly on the same side, the fact that Luvia utterly ''loathes'' Rin makes her treat their task as a competition with the Japanese mage rather than a cooperative mission. She's proud, snooty, and very VERY rich, all things that infuriate Rin to no end. However underneath all this she does keep a sensitive side, though it's likely no one but Miyu has been able to witness it.

In a bit of irony, in the mainline [=F/SN=], she and Rin are distant cousins, but with the changes to the nature of the Grail War in Prisma Illya, it begs to be seen whether this is still the case.
----
* BigFancyHouse: And one that Sella observed was built from the ground up over the course of ''one day''.
-->'''Illya''': Weren't there a row of normal houses here this morning?!?
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: In 3rei. Much like Rin, Luvia [[spoiler:mindlessly serves the Ainsworths as a maid through Angelica's manipulations]].
* ButtMonkey: Alongside Rin. Most frequently during battles.
* ClingyJealousGirl: For Shirou.
* CoolBigSis: To Miyu.
* {{Jerkass}}: She likes making life miserable for Rin and generally treats anyone else with a measure of condescension.
** JerkWithAHeartOfGold: However, Luvia is noticeably more polite and considerate towards Illya and Miyu.
* MagicalGirl: Like Rin, she was one before Magical Sapphire switched her for Miyu.
* NoblewomansLaugh: She really likes giving a smug "Ohohohoho".
* {{Ojou}}
* RichBitch: She's not really a bitch, but qualifies since she looks down on people because of her money and pedigree. Especially towards Rin. Downplayed or nonexistent with Miyu and Illya.
* TheRival: To Rin. Both in magic and love.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveMoney: When she feels it is necessary, Luvia will use this to help Miyu and Illya.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork / VitriolicBestBuds: For all their showing of supposed hatred, Rin and Luvia constantly seem to work together and support each other when they really need to.

[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bazett_1.png]]
->'''Voiced by''': Creator/HitomiNabatame (Japanese), Kaytha Coker (English)

The strongest enforcer of the Mage Association, and the original agent assigned to retrieve the cards, before Zelretch intervened. Despite being a normal human, she possesses a strength rivaling that of the cards' manifested Heroic Spirits.

She appears midway into 2wei, trying to take back the cards that both Rin and Luvia had collected at that point. It is during this encounter that she reveals just how ''powerful'' she is, as she takes out most of the main cast very handily. It is only after the revelation that there's an ''eight'' card slumbering in the city that she is forced to retreat, and eventually ally with Illya and her friends.
----
* AdaptationalBadass: While an incredibly formidable magus and combatant, it is generally recognized in series that she (along with every other human character in Nasuverse not named Aoko Aozaki, Shirou Emiya, or FateExtra's Ryougi Shiki) should not be able to beat a Servant. She ''kills'' two singlehandedly and rips the class card out of a third.
* {{Badass}}: Completely trounces all the main characters with little effort. [[spoiler: She later tears out ''Gilgamesh's'' class card after running through his Gate of Babylon and surviving.]]
* BadassInANiceSuit: Still likes to wear suits and ties while stomping people.
* TheBerserker: She is compared to THE Berserker in series. She is also compared to classical berserkers when she [[spoiler:charges ''through'' Gilgamesh's StormOfBlades and rips his heart out]].
* TheBigGuy: She's worse at using Magecraft than Rin and Luvia, but she's by far the most capable physical combatant in Illya's group. ''[[WordOfGod And this is canon]]''. Her acts in ''Prisma Illya'' include tanking Bellerophon, beating down the rest of the group, killing the Archer and Lancer Cards alone, and gouging out Gilgamesh's heart.
* CardboardBoxHome: Lives under one after getting her assets seized. Doesn't seem to bother her though.
* CharlesAtlasSuperPower: Tore down Luvia's mansion and ripped a two meter chunk out of her front lawn with her bare hands alone.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Lets just say that what passes for common sense for this version of Bazett doesn't apply for everyone else.
--> '''Illya, Miyu, and Chloe:''' Something seems to be wrong with this person!
* TheComicallySerious: She sells ice pops with the same fervor that she has in battle.
* CounterAttack: Her Mystic Code and Noble Phantasm Fragarach. It works on a similar principle as Gae Bolg, but is defensive in nature, making it less effective against an enemy who isn't using their strongest attack. When used against [[spoiler:Rider!Miyu's Bellerophon]] it strikes the heart of the [[spoiler:Pegasus, instead of the attacker, the reason being that Miyu is only channelling Rider instead of being an actual Heroic Spirit]].
* CurbStompBattle: She's first introduced defeating Luvia and her butler August with ease, and when Illya and Chloe show up to investigate what's happening, Bazett gives them a similar beating. It takes [[spoiler:Miyu riding Bellerophon]] to at least even the playing field, ''[[UpToEleven and then]]'' [[spoiler:a carefully planned [[{{Synchronization}} Master-Slave binding spell]], as well as the revelation of a hidden 8th card,]] to convince her to temporarily call a truce.
* DontMakeMeDestroyYou: She knows the heroes don't stand a chance and makes it clear that if they just hand over the cards nobody has to get hurt.
* EnemyMine: Teams up with Team Illya in ''3rei'', [[spoiler:where they have to rescue Miyu in the alternate world ruled by the Ainsworths]].
* FightsLikeANormal: Unlike traditional mages like Luvia or Rin, the most magecraft we see from Bazett is her empowering herself with runes and utilizing her Mystic Code. Most of her fights are won by punching out the opposition. Despite that, she was the one who beat the Archer and Lancer cards without outside assistance.
* TheJuggernaut: Just about every opponent she's faced ([[UpToEleven even Gilgamesh!]]) has been unable to do jack against her unstoppable fighting style. That is, until Darius enters the scene and flattens her, Chloe and Illya without much effort.
* LaserGuidedKarma: She goes broke from having to pay for destroying Luvia's manor and is forced to take odd jobs to pay up.
* {{Leitmotif}}: Kanojo to no Kaikou, her battle theme.
* PunchClockVillain: Under orders from [[RightHandVersusLeftHand another faction in the Mage Association]] to finish the job of retrieving the Class Cards. Once they become allies, she's a pretty nice person, if [[GoodIsNotSoft a little rough around the edges]].
* {{Synchronization}}: Gets subjected to [[spoiler:the same Master-Slave binding spell that Rin used on Chloe to tie her to Illya]].Though she claims it doesn't stop her -- she is still ready to just beat her half to death, while her own stamina would keep her conscious. Later, she found a mage who can cancel such magic and had the curse removed.
* WouldHurtAChild: [[JustifiedTrope Justified]], since [[GenreSavvy she recognizes]] that if Illya and Kuro are involved with Rin and Luvia they're clearly not ordinary children. Of course, she's JustFollowingOrders, and later [[WhatTheHellHero chews out Rin]] for [[HarmfulToMinors getting children involved in deadly business]] in the first place.

Illya's much older foster brother, who goes to the high school that Illya's own school is a subsidary of. He was taken in by Kiritsugu after his own family died due to unspecified circumstances.
----
* AccidentalPervert: Seems to be a very usual thing for him. Even to the point that Rin and Luvia lampshade if he's a H-anime protagonist.
* ArtShiftedSequel: The anime of Drei has drawn Shirou to [[{{Foreshadowing}} look more like his ufotable counterpart]].
* BrutalHonesty: Ruby injects him a serum of truth in 2wei's BeachEpisode. HilarityEnsues.
* ChickMagnet: Even as a supporting character, Shirou ''still'' manages to attract the attentions of Illya, Chloe, Miyu, Rin, Luvia and Sakura.
** ButtMonkey: ... However this just gets him into trouble and more than a little pain, all played for laughs of course.
* DemotedToExtra: He was the protagonist in the original ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight''. Here, he only has minor appearances, and has no idea about Illya's magical girl activities.
* GroinAttack: Irisveil happily assures Illya, Kuro and Miyu that Shirou would never dare to [[{{Lolicon}} try anything]] with them because he knows [[MamaBear she would]] ''[[MamaBear castrate him]]''.
* HomoEroticSubtext: With Issei, but mostly on Issei's side. This has been used by Mimi and Suzuka as material for BL doujins.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Shirou seems to be unaware of the Mage Association-related shenanigans the people around him are involved in, especially his family.
* MistakenForPedophile: Generally by Sella. Ironically, despite the sometimes borderline-{{Ecchi}} nature of the series, Shirou tends to get "[[NotWhatItLooksLike caught]]" in totally innocent situations, like giving Illya a kiss on the forehead.
* NiceGuy: The main reason why girls flock to him.
* NomDeMom: GenderInverted. He takes Kiritsugu's last name "Emiya" despite technically being adopted into the von Einzbern family. The reasons behind this are never explained.
* ObliviousToLove: Despite being a chick magnet, he has ''no'' idea that those girls like him.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Zig-Zagged, most people pronounce his name as " Shirou ". Except for Luvia, who pronounces it " Shero " for some reason.

->'''Voiced by''': Haruhi Terada (Sella) and Miho Miyagawa (Leysritt) (Japanese), Beth Lazarou (Sella) and Meaghan Avocato (Leysritt) (English)

The von Einzbern family maids, who accompanied their mistress Irisviel to Japan after she married Kiritsugu. They are also sisters, with Sella being the more serious and responsible of the pair, while Leysritt is content to just lounge about the house after she does her daily duties.

As servants of the von Einzberns, they know perfectly well about Illya's role in the aborted Grail War ritual, and Sella in particular is constantly worried that Illya has secretly gotten herself in some sort of trouble. Her concern is VERY merited.
----
* ACupAngst: Sella is... ''sensitive''... about how, despite being sisters, Leys is ''much'' more well-endowed than her.
* ArentYouGoingToRavishMe: When [[{{Jerkass}} Iri]] forces Sella to dress provocatively and give Shirou "do you want dinner, bath, or me?" speech, [[ChasteHero he]] [[NiceGuy naturally]] chooses "dinner". Sella proceeds to beat him up for that, calling him "good for nothing".
* BerserkButton: There are several sure-fire ways to tick off Sella: comment on her weight, comment on her lack of endowments, and pre-emptively finish her housework despite it being her turn to do so.
* BrilliantButLazy: If Leysritt's abilities are ''anything'' like her mainline counterpart, she's actually strong enough to potentially take on ''Heroic Spirits''. Not to mention she may also be keeping [[BladeOnAStick her massive poleaxe around.]] Chances are she could possibly take on ''Bazett'' in a straight fight. Of course, none of the main cast are actually aware of this, nor has Leysritt had any reason to display her abilities.
* LazyBum: Leysritt is pretty lazy, usually watching tv and eating snacks.
* {{Meido}}: Though in this incarnation it's not apparent, due to the fact that they don't use their uniforms anymore. The one time that Sella does appear in the uniform, Illya comments that it's not cute at all and therefore doesn't like it. Sella is actually quite sad about that.
* SiblingYinYang: Sella is hard working and strict, while Leysritt is laid-back but lazy.
* StayInTheKitchen: Inversion. Sella wants Shirou out of it.
* WeightWoe: Though you wouldn't see it at first glance, Sella has a recurring weight problem. One of the extra chapters even focuses on her efforts to ''lose'' some of that extra weight... to no avail.
* WomanChild: Leysritt would order and watch magical girl anime with Illya.

[[quoteright:272:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/iri.png]]

Illya's mother, and the de-facto head of the von Einzbern family. Iriviel is often away from home, accompanying her husband Kiritsugu in his "work" around the world, and leaves the care of the house to her maids. ''Unlike'' Kiritsugu, Iri makes it a point to drop by and check on the family every so often.
----
* AbusiveParents: For comic relief. Iri hits Illya when she annoys her with questions about her secret powers at the end of the first season and in 2wei [[spoiler: pulls off a giant fist made out of strings to silence Chloe after Chloe almost attacked Iri. [[CrowningMomentOfFunny Then she proceeds to do the same with Illya just because.]]]]
* CloudCuckooLander: Illya describes her as doing based on what mood strikes her.
* DrivesLikeCrazy: Like in ''LightNovel/FateZero''. Combines this with DynamicEntry.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: All of Illya's female friends from school are disturbingly attracted to Illya's mom, to the point most of them ask for "souvenir photos" when Iri gets pulled into modelling some wedding dresses during a theme park visit.
* HappilyMarried: With Kiritsugu.
* HiddenDepths: Iri, while well-meaning, is generally seen by both her children as flighty, spontaenous, and impulsive. As her arrival in the first "season" and 2wei shows however, Iri is ''very'' perceptive and is often on-the-button with regards to Illya's problems.
* GiveHimANormalLife: [[spoiler:She and Kiritsugu seal Illya's memories as the Grail to give her a normal life.]]
* AGodAmI: PlayedForLaughs but when she draw up the family hierachy she made herself god tier.
* ImpoverishedPatrician: It's easy to forget that, in the mainline Fate series, the von Einzberns were considered both nobility and a pre-eminent, if secretive, Mage family. Here though? Your typical middle-class family, with Iri herself as a supportive wife. Irisviel isn't in the least bothered by this though... maybe. She ''does'' make fun of the Edelfelt mansion getting demolished in 2wei for example.
* LastOfHerKind: As she reveals in 2wei, Iri and Illya are the last of the von Einzberns left alive.
* LetsGetDangerous: When [[spoiler:Gilgamesh breaks out of the Mirror World and attempts to hijack the Greater Grail under Mount Enzou]], Iri arrives within minutes and demands answers from Caren to find out what's going on. [[spoiler:Unfortunately, [[YouAreTooLate she's too late]] to even say goodbye as her daughter(s) are hurled into AnotherDimension]].
* MomentKiller: A walking example. Illya even notes the atmosphere is ruined whenever Iri appears.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Her [[{{Troll}} eccentric personality]] seems genuine, but she's [[GoodIsNotDumb much more knowledgeable and aware]] than she lets on, and [[GoodIsNotSoft can be dead serious]] when the situation calls for it. Keep in mind that she's spent much of the last ten years working with [[ProfessionalKiller Kiritsugu]].
* ShipperOnDeck: Any girl who is interested in Shirou, especially Rin and Luvia, who she at one point tries to bribe with photos of Shirou she [[BlatantLies just so happened to be carrying around]]. Part of it seems to be genuine, though another part of it is probably for [[ItAmusedMe her amusement]].
* {{Troll}}: Considering the above comical abuse she does towards her daughters and getting Sella and Leysritt to strip (while feeling good about it), then dressing them up in sexier versions of their normal maid attire, she comes off as this. Possible MythologyGag as she's also like this in the Einzbern Consultation Rooms from ''LightNovel/FateZero'' [[spoiler: where Iri's comedic sociopathy comes from her being Grail-possessed.]]
* WalkingTheEarth: She's rarely at home, instead spending a lot of time with her husband on travels.
* WouldHurtAChild: When Illya or Chloe aren't behaving, she'll sometimes smack them.
* WhereIWasBornAndRazed: It's implied in ''2wei!'' that she and Kiritsugu killed most of her family so that Illya wouldn't be forced into being a Grail Conduit.

* ShooOutTheClowns: It often gets more serious if they are not in the scene.
* ThoseTwoGuys: The main purpose of Illya's classmates is to support the fact that Illya in Prisma Illya has had a happy and normal life.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Despite being Japanese, Illya's friends don't exactly have naturally-occuring hair colors. This in turn ''breaks'' Mimi's perception on relationships, to the point that she considers yuri or BL pairings as perfectly normal in real life.

Compared to her friends, she's the only one who's an older sibling rather than a younger one.
----

* NiceGirl: She is very kind and considerate towards her goofy comrades.
%%* NominalImportance:

* SesquipedalianLoquaciousness: When describing her appreciation of a BL novel Suzuka handed out to her, Mimi breaks into a long-winded speech that Illya lampshades as filled with terms that would require educational discretion (complete with steam noises [[SoundEffectsBleep just because]]). She eventually degenerates into excited gibberish that Chloe mistakes for Berserker's garbled shouts.
* YaoiFangirl: Because she can't seem to think of a good lesbian story writeup [[note]]Which is based on [[LoveTriangle her perception]] of Illya, Miyu and Chloe's relationship[[/note]], she settles for gender bendering the characters into males. This in turn attracts the attention of resident BL writer Suzuka, who uses her script for a comic booth and even forces poor Mimi to host it. Afterwards, Mimi's transformation was complete, something that terrifies even Suzuka.

Even better, she faces off against [[BowAndSwordInAccord Archer]] Illya, in a parallel to [[spoiler: Shirou and Saber Alter's DuelToTheDeath]] in ''[[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Heaven's Feel's]]'' [[SugarWiki/SoCoolItsAwesome fan-favorite]] ''Sparks Liner High'' ending.
* SwordBeam: Her sword, Excalibur, can fire a massive red-and-black blast of energy.
%%* WakeUpCallBoss
* WaveMotionGun: Excalibur's actual ability. The [[SwordBeam Excaliblasts]] are weaker versions of the normal ability.

[[folder:Assassin]]
!!Assassin (Hassan-i Sabbah)
[[quoteright:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/assassinkaleid.jpg]]

The fourth Card fought by Illya's group. The Assassin Card is split up between many different individual Assassins, but each share the same skull-shaped mask and general appearance.

Individually, each Assassin is relatively weak, enough so that Luvia and Rin can injure them. However, they fight by employing poisoned weapons and overwhelming odds against Illya's group.
----
* CompositeCharacter: A combination between [[LightNovel/FateZero Zero Assasin]] and [[spoiler:[[VisualNovel/FateStayNight True Assassin]]]].
* PoisonedWeapons: His darts.
* SelfDuplication: He can create duplicates of himself through his Noble Phantasm. [[spoiler:Illya gains the same ability when she installs the Assassin Card.]]
* StealthExpert
* WeakButSkilled: [[spoiler:Chloe states the card is so weak that Illya's Trance is stronger than its Install. But even so, its stealth abilities come in handy.]]
* ZergRush: Attacks with dozens of weak "copies" of itself.

[[folder:Berserker]]
!!Berserker (Heracles)
[[quoteright:250:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/berserkerkaleid.jpg]]

The manifestation of the Berserker Card and the last Card fought.

His Noble Phantasm allows him to resurrect a set number of times, granting him immunity to what killed him in the process.
----
* {{BFS}}: The Axe-Sword (referred to as "Fake Nine Lives," Nine Lives being [[SpamAttack the technique]] associated with it in VisualNovel/FateStayNight), a massive slab of stone [[AllThereInTheManual carved out of the base of his temple]]. It can be summoned by [[PowerCopying Including]] his Class Card. While he [[OneHandedZweihander swings it around effortlessly]] with his SuperStrength, it's [[AwesomeButImpractical far too heavy and unwieldy]] for Illya to even pick up.
* DiscOneFinalBoss: The strongest and final opponent the protagonists fight in the first season.
* LightningBruiser: He's the strongest Heroic Spirit, as well as one of the fastest. Although he's insane, he's still extremely dangerous.
* ResurrectiveImmortality: His Noble Phantasm provides him a stock of lives that allows him to resurrect himself every time he dies, [[ItOnlyWorksOnce gaining immunity to what killed him in the process]].
* TheBerserker
* TransformationIsAFreeAction: Defies it. He charges at straight Miyu while she channels the Saber Card.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: The only original Class Card that hasn't been used as an [[PowersAsPrograms Install]] by the main characters, or anyone; even the showcase of [[spoiler:Miyu's brother [[RunTheGauntlet defeating the original Class Card users]] doesn't show the user of Berserker]]. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]], since there's no telling how the Berserker Class's [[PowerBornOfMadness Mad Enhancement]] would affect the user, and Berserker's [[NoSell incredibly]] [[TheJuggernaut powerful]] [[ResurrectiveImmortality abilities]] would [[StoryBreakerPower remove almost any challenge in a fight]].

A bowman clad in red who's defeated by Bazett before the story begins. He only makes appearances in a flashback in ''2wei'' and a short exposition in ''3rei''.
----
* AlternateSelf: He's one to [[spoiler:Shirou Emiya]], as he explains in his exposition.
-->"'''Heroic Spirit EMIYA'''. From the distant future of a different world was another me who became a Heroic Spirit. Forming a pact with the earth and becoming a guardian of humanity, he followed through with the justice that [[spoiler:Kiritsugu]] and I idealized."
* BowAndSwordInAccord: He uses his bow against Bazett before engaging her in melee combat.
* DualWielding: Wields two curved blades
* ImprobableAimingSkills: He can fire his bow with near perfect accuracy... while falling.
* FutureBadass: It's revealed fairly late in ''3rei'' that his identity belongs to that of [[spoiler:Heroic Spirit EMIYA, a parallel version of Shirou Emiya who contracted with the world and became a Counter Guardian.]]
* MythologyGag: He looks a lot like [[spoiler:[[VisualNovel/FateHollowAtaraxia Avenger]].]]
* NonindicativeName: His class card is Archer, but he has the power to manifest swords out of thin air.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: He and his Card have very few appearances in the story. However, by responding to [[spoiler:Shirou's]] summoning, he allows him to fight back and ultimately, set the story in motion.
* SpannerInTheWorks: [[spoiler:His card was supposed to be a 'junk' card with the pretence that the card was supposed to be Gilgamesh, that was given to Sakura, who tried to use it to fight Shinji. Miyu's version of Shirou got a hold of it, and basically asked for help from the Throne of Heroes out of desperation. EMIYA [[PetTheDog answered the call]] [[IHatePastMe despite having a rather infamous loathing of his past selves.]] By doing so, he basically allows Shirou to derail Julian's plans.]]
* SpontaneousWeaponCreation: He can create swords out of thin air.
* StormOfBlades: One of his attacks involves creating several swords and firing them at his target.
* TrickArrow: As shown with [[spoiler:Chloe]] and [[spoiler:Bazett's flashback]], the arrows that Archer fire explode.
* TheUnfought: Like Lancer, he's killed off-screen by [[spoiler:Bazett]] before the story starts.

* BladeOnAStick: His Noble Phantasm is a spear named Gae Bolg.
* MythologyGag: He resembles his ''Anime/FatePrototype'' self, with a fur collar to emphasize being more of a hunter than a combatant. Also literally as [[spoiler: his powerset includes becoming a werewolf, since he is the "dog of Chulainn"]]
* TheUnfought: He's killed off-screen by [[spoiler:Bazett]] before the series even begins.

[[folder:The Eighth Card (SPOILER)]]
!!Archer (Gilgamesh)
[[quoteright:275:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gilfkpi_584.png]]

The King of Heroes... not quite as you may remember him from previous Fate installments unless you've read ''VisualNovel/FateHollowAtaraxia''. He initially shows up as yet another corrupted servant seeking the Holy Grail... only to be defeated by Illya and left in a child form.

He becomes one of Illya's main allies in ''3rei'', seemingly out of annoyance for the Ainsworth's stealing most of his treasury.

His Class Card is Archer.
----
* AllYourPowersCombined: As always, he brings Gate of Babylon with him. And with it, every Noble Phantasm that originated on Gaia.
* {{Badass}}: He's the same ol' Gilgamesh from ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'', although because his madness cancels out his arrogance, he gets to show off extreme displays of power throughout his fights.
** BadassAdorable: He's still incredibly powerful even after being reduced to a cute kid, going toe-to-toe with numerous Ainsworth servants and being noticeably less arrogant.
* BerserkButton: Like ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'', use his Noble Phantasms against him and he will let you know how angry he is. ''Especially'' Enkidu.
* {{BFS}}: He holds a MASSIVE sword in his vault. Illya manages to break it and it remains broken after its second appearance. Naturally, as he owns every weapon ever comprehended by man and then some, he has a figuratively infinite number of giant swords.
* ChainPain: Is even more proficient with Enkidu than his mainstream counterpart, trapping Angelica in a sphere made from chains before attempting to skewer her. When she breaks out of that he then wraps Enkidu around the dozens of weapons she summons before throwing them back at her.
* CurbStompBattle: His very first appearance, to ''everyone''.
* DemonicPossession: Gilgamesh explains due to his ego, if someone doesn't use his card correctly when installing it, the card can take that person over. [[spoiler:This nearly happened to Miyu]]
* DramaPreservingHandicap: Becoming an ally of the team entails being separated from his corrupted card, which causes him to lose most of his treasures to Angelica.
* EarthShatteringKaboom: Ea, the only known Anti-World Noble Phantasm [[spoiler: with which he blows up the Mirror World]]. Keep in mind that it's world as in the concept and not specifically a planet buster (though it is perfectly capable of doing so).
* EasilyForgiven: Thanks to his A+ Charisma, he convinces Illya to forgive him for trying to kill them all.
* EmpathicWeapon: His ego is so strong that his card takes over the mind of the user if they aren't using it correctly.
* EvilLaugh: Seemingly the one remnant of his personality.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: [[http://www.mangainn.me/manga/chapter/103105_fate-kaleid-liner-prisma-illya-drei-chapter-04/page_27 His eyes become sharper and he slicks his hair upward]] in a manner reminiscent of his original ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' counterpart when he starts getting serious.
* EyeTake: Gets one in ''Drei'' Chapter 27, complete with StunnedSilence. It's about [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness the only time he ever loses his composure]].
* FatalFlaw: Averted. Due to his madness, he is finally able to overlook his pride and thus, [[OhCrap goes all-out.]]
** Also averted by his younger self. He uses the entirety of his armory rather than just spamming the usual StormOfBlades.
* HealingFactor: Unlike his other incarnations, this one has a counter to people who manage to charge through his attacks and hit him.
* HeelFaceTurn: After his black half is destroyed, his younger self decides to join Illya out of boredom.
* HypocriticalHumor:
** ''Dares'' complain when Illya reminds him that he lost to her, because the winner shouldn't rub their victory in the loser's face. See every single one of his other appearances.
** When he tells Angelica to be less cocky when using his card.
* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: While significantly less egotistic than the F/SN version. He hints a few times how he feels that he's a shadow of his former self that doesn't measure up to his legend.
* {{Irony}}: He [[spoiler:kills Illya in ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' by ripping out her heart]]; here, Bazett does this to him instead, although the latter doesn't stick.
* ItAmusedMe: Joins Illya in her quest to save Miyu because he's bored and taking on the creators of the Holy Grail War sounds "fun". [[spoiler: Tells said Julian, he needs Ilya to grant his wish because he wants to see how things play out.]]
* NotInThisForYourRevolution: He might be [[TookALevelInKindness much friendlier]] than his {{Jerkass}} adult self, but he's still [[ItsAllAboutMe Gilgamesh]]. He couldn't care less about saving the [[GaiasLament dying planet]] or [[SaveThePrincess Miyu]]; he's here to take back his Card.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Acts like the [[CheerfulChild cute, happy-go-lucky kid]] he appears to be. Makes it easy to forget he is still the ancient God-King of Babylon, one-time possessor of all of mankind's treasures and knowledge. He spends most of ''3rei'' lounging around, using his [[Fiction500 resources]] and [[MrExposition knowledge of events in the alternate world]] to [[TheChessmaster steer the heroes in the right direction]].
* OneWingedAngel: His black half transforms into a massive, black monster after tapping into the power of the mana circuit. He then recombines with it to fight Illya.
* OptOut: Once he got his card back, he decided to see where things were going from the sidelines.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: To a whole new level from usual. He obliterates the Mirror World.
* PowerLimiter: His full strength hasn't been used since his card is being used in the other world.
* PowerOfTheVoid: The incarnation of his corrupt form is covered in black prana and emits a smoky black-and-red haze, making it similar to Angra Mainyu. It even produces a cursed muck that Gilgamesh warns will probably kill those exposed.
* PutOnABus: [[spoiler:Leaves the group after he steals back his card, expressing amusement at how Julian is going to use his wish to save the world.]]
* StormOfBlades: Gate of Babylon, as usual.
* ThisIsUnforgivable: [[spoiler:He doesn't take it well when Enkidu is used against him.]]
--> [[spoiler:'''Gilgamesh''': So, it turns out that I laugh when I'm angry. Don't go using my ''friend'' as you please, MONGREL!]]
* TooKinkyToTorture: When Illya lands with her hand on his crotch and gives it a few squeezes, not realizing what she's holding, he finds it amusing.
* TookALevelInKindness: Almost literally, after his black half is destroyed.
* WalkingSpoiler: Not only does he show up very late into ''2wei'' as the final opponent, but he also becomes a protagonist in ''3rei'', accompanying Illya in her quest to save Miyu from the Ainsworths.
* WhatTheHellHero: Subverted. It ''looks'' like he's calling Illya out on her carelessness and willingness to lead people into a suicidal quest...but it turns out he's listing the reasons why it sounds fun.
* WildCard: [[TheFace Sweet talks his way]] onto Illya's team to [[ItsPersonal take back his Card]] from the Ainsworths. Though [[LiteralSplitPersonality his other half]] in the Card would have slaughtered them all for such a grievous offense, once he retrieves his Card he instead [[PlayingBothSides advises Julian]] that he'll need Illya to grant his wish before [[OptOut vanishing]] to [[ItAmusedMe watch how the story plays out]].
* WorthyOpponent: Decides that Illya is worthy of facing Enuma Elish when she combines the two wands and risks her own death for her friends.

->'''Voiced by''': Creator/NoriakiSugiyama

Miyu's elder brother and the adopted son of Kiritsugu Emiya. He's the parallel counterpart of Illya's brother and looks identical [[ContinuityNod except for a few strands of white hair and some brown patches of skin]] from overusing his Projection magecraft.

Before the story began, he was a participant of the Ainsworth Holy Grail War. After defeating the other six participants and becoming the victor of the Holy Grail War, he freed Miyu from the Ainsworths and sent her to Illya's world.

He was the original owner of the Archer Card imbued in Chloe, summoning it using himself as a catalyst. The Card itself corresponds to [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Heroic Spirit EMIYA]].
----
* AlternateSelf: He's a parallel version of Shirou Emiya, Illya's adopted older brother in her universe. More specifically, he's the adopted son of Illya's biological father Kiritsugu Emiya in both universes, much like in ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight''.
** He's also a parallel version of Heroic Spirit EMIYA, whom he summons through the Archer Card.
* AlternateUniverseReedRichardsIsAwesome: Miyu's brother is a lot more like his [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight original incarnation]] than Illya's more-or-less normal brother. He can even use his iconic Projection magecraft and invoke Unlimited Blade Works.
* AntiHero: He has no problem dooming the entire world if it means protecting his sister Miyu.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: His fight against Angelica shows that he's a heavy strategist, planning moves ahead of his opponent and keeping track of his openings.
-->'''Shirou:''' Sharpen you senses to their utmost. A single move can prove fatal. A single moment can spell death. Kill off any needless thoughts. The only thing we should be seeing for now is the boundary between life and death. '''Think ten steps ahead, and seize even five more seconds of survival!'''
** He defeats Shinji by exploiting an off-hand fact that he revealed to him earlier. He later defeats Saber by taking advantage of the latter's missing arm to sidestep an Excalibur blast and fire off a Broken Phantasm.
* {{Badass}}: He can trace noble phantasms like [[spoiler:Nine Lives, Rho Aias, and Ig Alima]]. WordOfGod says he learned these from fighting the corrupted Heroic Spirits under Julian's control.
** He actually ''wins'' the Holy Grail War by soloing and killing the other six participants. And unlike a normal Holy Grail War, an Ainsworth Holy Grail War is an actual deathmatch.
* BadassAdorable: [[spoiler: Unlike mainstream Shirou, Kiritsugu taught him magecraft properly and allowed Shirou to accompany him on his many excursions, including the job where they rescued Miyu.]]
* BadassBoast:
-->'''Shirou:''' If you're willing to kill one person for the sake of the greater good then I'm willing to accept all the evil that comes with stopping you. [[ContinuityNod Do you have enough resolve, champion of justice?]]
-->'''Shirou:''' I'm seriously done with this little play you guys are doing. Outta my way, you third-rate actor.
-->'''Shirou:''' Fine by me. Bring it on, Saber. We've gone this far, so I'll keep playing your game... '''Until one of us breaks'''.
* BadassCreed: He gets his own [[MentalWorld Unlimited Blade Works]] chant.
-->'''Shirou:''' ''I am the bone of my sword. Steel is my body and fire is my blood. I have created over a thousand blades. Unaware of beginning nor aware of the end. Withstood pain with inconsistent weapons. My hands will never hold anything. - Yet, [[{{Determinator}} my flame never ends]]. My whole body was still "Unlimited Blade Works."'' [[labelnote:Alternatively]]''My body is made of swords. My blood is iron, and my heart is glass. I have overcome countless battlefields. Never once retreating, nor attaining victory. The orphan is alone again, striking diamond dust on a hill of swords. But this life is not yet over. This false body was still made of swords!''[[/labelnote]]
* BadassInDistress: He is the one who freed Miyu from her captors in the past, which implies [[{{Badass}} badassery]]. And he is currently their prisoner, getting captured in the process of doing it. [[spoiler:Later, Gilgamesh breaks him out.]]
* {{BFS}}: The first two weapons he's shown projecting are [[spoiler:Nine Lives and Ig-Alima.]]
* BigBrotherInstinct: He's going to stop the Ainsworths' even if it means [[spoiler:dooming humanity]] just to save his sister.
* CompositeCharacter: His characterization is a mixture between two of his incarnations from ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight''. His personality is similar to his Heaven's Feel counterpart, in that he's abandoned his ideal for the sake of his loved one, while his power-set reflects his Unlimited Blade Works counterpart, including the ability to summon the eponymous reality marble.
** His Archer Install takes inspiration from other versions of himself, mainly [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight EMIYA]], [[VisualNovel/FateHollowAtaraxia Avenger]], and [[VideoGame/FateGrandOrder Limited / Over Zero]].
* DeadpanSnarker: Unlike in ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'', he doesn't hold his tongue. He'll casually snark at anyone who isn't Miyu or Sakura, as Julian gets a taste of. He even snarks in the middle of battle.
* DeflectorShields: He has access to a seven petaled shield named Rho Aias. He uses it to NoSell a RainOfArrows fired from muddied Heroic Spirits.
* {{Determinator}}: For one, he spends three months hopelessly trying to bring back his sister.
** IronWoobie: He goes through ''a lot'' like his sister getting kidnapped, his best friend becoming his enemy, and his love interest dying in front of him.
* TheDreaded: Even Angelica admits that the Archer Card and Shirou are dangerous.
* DualWielding: He wields Kanshou and Bakuya.
* FieldOfBlades: [[MentalWorld Unlimited Blade Works]], a snow-covered world housing an unlimited number of blades and the greatest magecraft available to Shirou Emiya. He unleashes it against Angelica.
* TheGadfly: [[spoiler:Back in the peaceful days, Shirou called Julian a siscon to get a reaction out of him, [[HypocriticalHumor in spite of his own relationship with Miyu.]]]]
* GoodIsNotSoft: He's a nice guy and a great big brother, but unlike ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' where he tries to avoid killing other masters, this Shirou has no problem with killing other participants of the Holy Grail War. He jams several copies of Kanshou and Bakuya inside Shinji's transformed state and Overdges them to try and impale him, and in the end of the fight, he doesn't hesitate to end his life after he's rendered defenseless. He only finds out he isn't human after the fact.
** He decides that the best way to ensure Miyu's happiness is to stop Julian. How? By killing him. He only fails because he's attacked by Sakura.
** He disarms Saber, [[FateZero not by skillfully severing a tendon]], but by ''cutting off'' his left arm.
* HeartbrokenBadass: After Sakura is killed, he takes some time in the next chapter to silently grieve for her before refocusing on his fight with Shinji.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Before the story began, he took on the Ainsworths and somehow managed to send Miyu to Illya's universe. From the small details provided, he's held off or beaten Angelica before and he's used Unlimited Blade Works at least once. The flashback arc explores his past, wherein he takes over as the main protagonist.
* HeroicRROD: While fighting Angelica, his heavy usage of Projection takes its toll after he tries [[spoiler:and fails to invoke his reality marble]], leaving him vulnerable to her StormOfBlades.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: A minor example when Shinji demands the identity of the Archer Card.
-->'''Shirou''': No one in particular. It's just a nameless wannabe of a Heroic Spirit.
* HumanPincushion: [[spoiler:Turned into one by Julian when he took Miyu the first time. Kotomine saved him.]]
* HurtingHero: He notes that he could only hold his swords because everything slipped through his fingers.
* InSpiteOfANail: Despite the Fourth Holy Grail War not happening in his universe, he still ends up in an accident that kills his family, is saved and then adopted by Kiritsugu.
* {{Irony}}: He abandons Kiritsugu's ideal of being an Ally of Justice in order to become a better brother. Yet the Card he summons corresponds to Heroic Spirit EMIYA, the very embodiment of those ideals.
* {{Leitmotif}}: EMIYA, not to be confused with Kuro's Shoujo Shinka.
* LetsGetDangerous: After Shirou installs Heroic Spirit EMIYA, he starts kicking Shinji's ass. Presumably, it's this power that allowed him to save Miyu from Julian's clutches in the first place.
* LockedIntoStrangeness: Through prolonged exposure to his future self's Card, he obtains his powers and Sword origin, which he describes as his body "being invaded by Heroic Spirit EMIYA". Fortunately, the most it did was bleach some of his hair and tan segments of his skin. The [[FateStayNight last time]] something like that [[BodyHorror happened in the series]]...
* NotTheIntendedUse: The Heroic Spirit bound to the Archer Card is a Counter Guardian, an entity meant to protect mankind. By using its power to save Miyu, Shirou's actions are harmful to humanity as a whole, the opposite of what the power was intended for. Shirou himself acknowledges this.
--> "The power meant for humanity's sake... I vowed to use it for a single person."
* PoweredByAForsakenChild: Rare Protagonist Example. [[spoiler:Miyu herself]] is the reason why Shirou can unleash [[FieldOfBlades Unlimited Blade Works]], and project Divine Constructs, which are magical abilities that require a lot of prana to activate. Shirou himself was unaware of this connection until Miyu was safely teleported from his reality.
* PromotionToParent: He takes over raising Miyu after Kiritsugu dies.
* RedIsHeroic: A red head on a one-man crusade to free his sister from the Ainsworths.
* SatelliteCharacter: Spends the first half of ''[=3rei=]'' giving the heroes info on Miyu's location and being the cause of Miyu's original escape to Illya's world. [[spoiler:Subverted when he's freed by Gilgamesh]]
* SelflessWish: After managing to win the Holy Grail War he uses his wish to [[spoiler:give Miyu a happy life]].
* SnowMeansDeath: His version of Unlimited Blade Works is covered in a snowstorm and he views the blades as graves. Keep in mind that [[spoiler:Sakura]] also died in the snow, so this was probably invoked.
* SpamAttack: He uses [[spoiler:Nine Lives]] to kill several muddied Heroic Spirits.
* SpontaneousWeaponCreation: He has access to Projection, the same type of magecraft that the Archer card grants.
* SpotlightStealingSquad: After Miyu was freed from the Ainsworth's clutches, the perspective was taken away from Illya to focus on Shirou and Miyu's past and the circumstances that lead to the plot of the story. Namely [[spoiler:Miyu's origins and the Holy Grail War]]. See HeroOfAnotherStory.
* StormOfBlades: He counters Angelica's StormOfBlades by launching his own. Takes it UpToEleven in Unlimited Blade Works, creating a tsunami of blades to counter Ea.
* ThenLetMeBeEvil: His defiant response towards Julian when he tells him that [[BigBrotherInstinct saving Miyu]] will result in the [[EndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt destruction to the world.]]
* TookALevelInBadass: He starts off as what amounts to everyone's punching bag with nothing more than Reinforcement magecraft. Then he summons the Archer Card and solos the six Ainsworth dolls with it, winning the fifth Holy Grail War. After he gives it up to save his sister, he acquires Heroic Spirit EMIYA's powerset and unlocks his own Unlimited Blade Works.
* TragicDream: He gives up his dream of becoming a hero of justice and decides to live a normal, happy life with his sister, which is soon interrupted by the Holy Grail War. When he wishes Miyu to Illya's world, he knows he'll probably never see her again, and the last thing he thinks about are his hopes that she'll be happy and his regrets that he couldn't teach her more as her brother. Later, the only reason he gets to meet her again is because a link is created between his world and Illya's world.
* TranquilFury: [[spoiler:During his first Install and fight against Shinji, he remained decidedly calm while beating him.]]
* UniqueProtagonistAsset: He doesn't use a Card or rely on a Mystic Code, he's just an ordinary Magus relying on his own power. However, his Projection magecraft allows him to kill muddied servants with ease and fight the Ainsworths head-on. In the flashback arc, he's a participant of the Holy Grail War and the wielder of the Archer Card, but the unique nature of his summoning gives him an advantage over the other participants. See his WeakButSkilled entry.
** The end of his flashback reveals that Miyu was providing him with prana during the Holy Grail War, a connection that is cut when she's transported to Illya's world.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: [[spoiler:Shirou considered Julian to be his friend prior to becoming aware that he had Miyu. Now they are bitter enemies.]]
* WeakButSkilled: As acknowledged early in the series and [[FateStayNight in-canon]], Archer is by no means the strongest Class Card. But unlike the Ainsworth dolls, Shirou is in complete sync with the Heroic Spirit imbued within it. This gives him a large enough advantage that he can defeat the other six participant of the Holy Grail War in spite of their power difference, though not without getting nearly killed multiple times.
* TheWorfEffect: After killing a large number of Heroic Spirits and defeating Angelica with Chloe's help, something no one else in Illya's group could accomplish. He gets severely injured by Sakura, showing just how dangerous she is.

Shirou's adopted father who rescued him from an accident and [[TheMentor mentored him]] in magecraft and in being a [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight hero of justice.]]. He had a dream of [[LightNovel/FateZero creating a world without conflict, and would use any means to accomplish it.]] This led him and Shirou to take great interest in the Children of God.
----
* AdaptationalVillainy: Unlike his ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' counterpart, he retains [[TheNeedsOfTheMany his ideals]] to WellIntentionedExtremist levels (complete with FaceFramedInShadow) even after adopting Shirou. As a result, when he decides to adopt Miyu, he does so to use her as a tool to save the human race, rather than out of affection.
** Downplayed in that it only lasts a single chapter. He gets a more sympathetic final talk with Shirou in chapter 32 of 3rei where he passes his ideals of heroism to Shirou.
* DeathByOriginStory: He died when Shirou and Miyu were young.
* FamedInStory/RedBaron: If Kotomine's to be believed, he was apparently notorious enough to be known as the [[LightNovel/FateZero "Magus Killer"]] in Miyu's universe, much like his ''LightNovel/FateZero'' counterpart.
* IncurableCoughOfDeath: Like in ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'', this version of Kiritsugu died slowly over the years from sickness. Whether he contracted it from the same source is unknown.

!The Ainsworths
[[folder:In General]]
* AlternateUniverse: Seem to be Miyu's verse equivalents to the Einzberns.
* AntiVillain: Angelica and Darius outright state their goal is to save the world even if a few people need to be sacrificed.
* BigBad: Seem to be this in 3rei.
* HeartIsAnAwesomePower: Flash Air was seen as a weak magecraft, but the Ainsworth figured out how to use it to overwrite the laws of the world and create their universe's version of the Holy Grail War.
* SpaceMaster: The Ainsworth family's magecraft is Flash Air, a type of displacement magecraft. It can be used something as simple as grabbing things from a distance or creating mini-portals to something like morphing a mountain into a castle and hiding massive objects in plain sight.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Alternatively romanized as "Einsworth/Einzworth", to stress the fact that they are AlternateUniverse counterparts of the Einzberns.

One of the Ainsworths' dolls sent along with Beatrice to retrieve Miyu and guard The Ainsworth estate.

She wields an Archer Card assigned to the Heroic Spirit Gilgamesh.

[[spoiler: As revealed in Chapter 44 of 3rei, she was originally Julian's older sister.]]

----
* BoobsOfSteel: Has the largest bust of any female shown in the manga and is able to channel ''Gilgamesh''[='=]s power, even fighting the latter to a standstill for the majority of their duel.
* CoDragons: The [[DarkActionGirl no-nonsense enforcer]] who keeps the [[TheBrute reckless and violent]] Beatrice focused on their mission.
* CombatPragmatist: She will change methods if something doesn't work.
* CoolBigSis: She acts as one to Erika, making and fixing her stuffed animals. [[spoiler:This may now include Julian as well, but remains completely speculative due to insufficient information.]]
* DarkActionGirl: She's a shining example in that she's ruthless and very straight to the point, making her extremely efficient compared to the rest of the cast.
* [[spoiler:EmotionlessGirl]]: [[spoiler:Strictly speaking: over 90% emotionless, as a result of being turned into a doll by the Ainsworths. She learned to fake many of her emotional responses, but no longer sees the point in doing so. Partially averted, if the tears shed when expressing her desire for Illya to save her brother as part of 'both Miyu and the world', are in fact genuine.]]
* TheHeavy: She's actually responsible for much of the game-changing plot twists in ''3rei'', mainly due to her ability to [[spoiler:extract souls from their original body and putting emotionless dummies instead, which she does to Illya, Rin and Luvia]].
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:Not of her own choice. But after her defeat and Gilgamesh taking his card back, the Ainsworths abandoned her. She followed the protagonists' group as she had no where else to go.]]
* IAmNotLeftHanded: Invokes this midway through her fight against [[spoiler:Gilgamesh]] when she claims she has not yet used her Card to its full potential. However, they are interrupted by Beatrice barging in with her own [[CurbStompBattle ''fight'']] against [[spoiler:Caster!Illya.]]
** Angelica used Ea in the flashback arc against [[spoiler:Shirou]] when she realized that 1) She is in a disadvantage fighting in UBW and 2) [[spoiler:Shirou's]] just stalling for time. She even used two giant blades to distract him while she prepares the weapon, so by the time he regained his composure, he couldn't do anything to stop her.
* SpaceMaster: She can use the Ainsworth's magecraft to deadly efficency as shown in her fights against Gilgamesh and Shirou and Chloe. [[spoiler: As she was originally Julian's older sister, being skilled in the Ainsworth family magecraft is rather obvious, in hindsight.]]
* StormOfBlades: By installing Gilgamesh's Archer card on herself, she gains the hero's signature Gate of Babylon, allowing her to fire near-unlimited amounts of weapons at her opponents. [[spoiler:Gilgamesh successfully gains some of his treasures back during his fight with Angelica.]]

She is the user of a Berserker Card corresponding to Thor.
----
* AxCrazy: Beatrice has a very sadistic streak when fighting against Illya, and has no remorse in [[spoiler:[[KickThemWhileTheyAreDown pummelling her even after Illya lost the fight]].]]
* BoltOfDivineRetribution: The Thor Card can make these.
* BroughtDownToBadass: Any [[PhysicalGod Divine Spirit]] would ordinarily be far too powerful to summon into a Holy Grail War, so whatever version of [[NorseMythology Thor]] the Ainsworths contained in the Class Card must have suffered a significant DePower. The power that remains is still enough to grant Beatrice tremendous SuperStrength, NoSell Caster!Illya's [[BeamSpam magic]], and when Julian orders/[[BloodKnight allows]] her to [[IAmNotLeftHanded cut loose]] she calls down ''[[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill a dozen]]'' [[KillSat massive pillars]] of [[BoltOfDivineRetribution electricity from the heavens]], each strong enough to rip through [[DeflectorShields Rho Aius]] like tissue paper and leave a streaking crater in their wake.
* TheBrute: SuperStrength? Check. [[TheDitz Not too bright]]? Check. [[BloodKnight Likes to hurt people]]? Double check.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: A powerful doll wielding the power of the Berserker card who also happens to be an idol {{Otaku}}. [[spoiler:Turns out the idol is her master, but still an otaku.]]
* CatchPhrase: "Scatter into elemental dust!" Typically used as a PreMortemOneLiner, whether it be before atomizing someone with [[DropTheHammer Mjolnir]], getting ready to release a BoltOfDivineRetribution, or [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking tearing the head off a teddy bear]].
* CoDragons: The [[TheBrute wild, vulgar, and violent muscle]] to [[BrainsAndBrawn compliment]] the [[DarkActionGirl composed, calculating, and ruthlessly focused]] Angelica.
* CombatSadomasochist: OH so very much.
* CurbstompBattle: As part of establishing the Ainsworth dolls' dominance over the protagonists, she mops the floor with her Berserker card against [[spoiler:Caster!Illya.]]
* DropTheHammer: Enjoys using the Thor Card, which grants her all the powers of the Norse god, as well as a massive hammer.
* ElegantGothicLolita: Dresses as such when not using her Thor Card.
* HiddenDepths: Unknowingly [[SurrogateSoliloquy expresses to Illya]] ([[ItMakesSenseInContext a stuffed animal at the time]]) that she [[IJustWantToHaveFriends feels neglected and alone]] in the Ainsworth house, and stuffed animals are her only real friends. Even Illya [[SympathyForTheDevil can't help but feel sorry for her]]. [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]], since this certainly isn't an explanation or excuse for how insane or sadistic she is, and is immediately followed by [[RoomFullOfCrazy the reveal of another]], [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments far more ridiculous]] aspect of her character.
* PsychopathicManchild: Despite being apparently teenaged, she dresses in ElegantGothicLolita fashion, complete with parasol, and goes out of her way to act cutesy on several occasions. Her main hobby (aside from lusting over Julian) is [[GirlsLoveStuffedAnimals collecting stuffed animals]] (some, if not all, of which are stolen from Erika, a girl half her age) that she calls her "friends," despite commonly [[WithFriendsLikeThese ripping their heads off]]. She also holds some [[HiddenDepths childlike vulnerabilities]] related to the [[IJustWantToHaveFriends loneliness she feels in Ainsworth household]].
* {{Sadist}}: She openly enjoys hurting her opponents
* SexIsViolence: Aside from her BloodKnight tendencies, she [[TheModestOrgasm enjoys herself a little TOO much]] when Julian allows her to release [[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill Mjolnir's full power]].
* SlasherSmile: A very noticable one in nearly all of her fight scenes.
* {{Tsundere}}: [[ParodiedTrope Parodied]] when she drools over a someone she names "Julian".
--> '''Beatrice''': "N... Not that I really... missed you or anything!... Ohhhhhh! Julian-tan's tough guy act is so moeeeeee!"
--> '''Illya''': "What the hell is she doing?"
* UnknownRival: Subversion. She absolutely hates the [[spoiler:Archer!Emiya Card's wielder]]. The subversion is that its current holder, [[spoiler:Chloe]], is someone else entirely, and neither of them have met face to face. ----
* AnIcePerson: Is able to erect a massive ice dome to prevent Chloe and Bazett from interrupting his conversation with Illya. [[spoiler:That is, until Tanaka shatters it with a powerful blast of heat.]]
* {{Badass}}: From just his introductory fight, he's able to repel every attack thrown at him, be it Chloe and Bazett's strikes, or even [[spoiler:Illya's Saber Install,]] and flattens everyone with just a single command.
* BareHandedBladeBlock: Performs one against [[spoiler:Saber Install's Excalibur,]] with the excuse that it would hurt Erika if swung around recklessly.
* BigBad: He's the Head of the Ainsworth Family and the person responsible for the appearance of the servant cards earlier in the story [[spoiler:and the handling Miyu as the alternate universe's Grail]].
* CardCarryingVillain: Presents himself to Illya as the Demon King who needs to be taken down.
* CompositeCharacter: He serves as the parallel universe equivalent to Issei Ryoudou, taking his place as Shirou's best friend and student council president. He also shares traits with Shinji, acting as an enemy to Shirou and even having a little sister.
* DeadPersonImpersonation: After Illya strikes him with Rule Breaker, it's revealed that [[spoiler:the actual Darius had died sometime before 3rei. The current Darius is actually his son Julian, using magic to impersonate his appearance.]]
* DeathGlare: After his true personality is brought out into the open, Julian is a ''master'' of this trope. Nearly every panel has him leering at people with a look of pure hatred.
* {{Expy}}: He looks and acts like Issei during Shirou's flashback. When they become enemies, he drops Issei's noble qualities and straight up becomes unpleasant.
* FaceFramedInShadow: Used to great effect during his appearances just to show how sinister his character is.
* FalseFriend: [[spoiler:To Shirou. Even if they were really friends, that ended the moment he took Miyu and left him for dead.]]
* FauxAffablyEvil: At first he appears to genuinely care for Erika, and holds back Angelica and Beatrice from killing the cast, but at the same time he's totally unrepentant about his abuse of Miyu and was willing to kill Tanaka just for being someone he didn't know about. Then its revealed he regularly [[AbusiveParent beats up]] Erika, and is generally the reason she is so [[CreepyChild ill adjusted]] she doesn't understand why Miyu would cry over Illya having her soul ripped out.
* FinalBossPreview: Shows up to pick up Erika and show Team Illya ''exactly'' what kind of power they're trying to challenge.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: PlayedForLaughs, as he comments how the air is getting thinner while his ice barrier is still up and he is starting to freeze along with his daughter.
* {{Jerkass}}: The biggest one in the series, bar none. He treats Erika like crap, will abandon his servants if need be, manipulates Sakura to do his bidding, is willing to hurt and kill children if they get in his way, and the list goes on and on.
* KingIncognito: Visits team Illya after she befriends Erika. No one learns about his identity until prompted to, after which he engages Illya in a fight.
* KnightOfCerebus: The story takes a massive turn once his identity is revealed.
* LargeHam: He breaks into a bombastic speech when asserting Illya's motives. Later goes on to lecture Shirou about what a faker and thief he is and for "messing" up the world and his plans.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: [[spoiler:He created a 'junk Archer card'.[[note]]The idea being that Sakura would give it to Shirou, only for Shinji to kill them both after an engineered HopeSpot, this plan being apparently engineered by Julian out of spite.[[/note]] Which Shirou used to summon EMIYA and completely derail his plans by first ''winning'' the Holy Grail War and thus being able to send Miyu to another universe, ruining Julian's chance to use her. And as a result of his wish, when Miyu ''is'' captured and brought back, Julian ends up having to contend with her friends and allies, who are ''determined'' to rescue her and ruin his plans, not to mention breaking Shirou out, who is still very much intent on murdering his former friend with abilities that he now has thanks to using the card. Shirou himself notes that creating the card and letting it get into Shirou's hands was a ''massive'' blunder on Julian's part.]]
* NightmareFace: Occasionally flares creepy expressions when interacting with Illya. Also has when he beats up Erika. Again when he berates Shirou for his constant interferences.
* PerpetualFrowner: After the reveal, Julian almost always has a frown on his face. The only time he breaks it is when someone manages to get under his skin. That someone is usually Shirou.
* {{Sadist}}: In his Darius disguise, Julian is shown in several panels with a sick twisted smile as he's torturing poor Miyu. Later as he corners all the heroes and urges Miyu to go back to being just his "puppet", he's smiling sadistically.
* SpaceMaster: As part of the displacement magic he practices.
* VisionaryVillain: Apparently Darius ''wants to save the world'', specifically making it so that humanity would survive the eventual depletion of Mana on Earth, the latter scenario suspiciously similar to the situation in AngelNotes. Hmm...

Six dolls that served as masters in the Ainsworth's Fifth Holy Grail War, all of whom were defeated and killed by Miyu's brother. Each doll has a Class Card, all of which are identical to the ones that ended up in Illya's world.
----
* ArtificialHuman: They look human, but upon dying, they revert back to their doll form.
* HandicappedBadass: Saber, the final doll that Miyu's brother faces and the strongest of the six. He loses an arm in his fight against the latter, but it doesn't impede him at all. He only loses the fight because he tries to fire Excalibur with only one hand, allowing Miyu's brother to evade the blast and hit him with a Broken Phantasm.
* TheUnseen: Of the six, only Assassin and Saber are given proper introductions, being [[spoiler:Shinji Matou and Zachary Ainsworth]] respectively. One of Julian's "allies" who is initially presented as being dangerously obsessed with Miyu's brother.

As revealed in the flashback arc, she was one of Shirou Emiya's few friends and his main love interest. She was killed by Shinji after betraying Julian to help Shirou, and presumably, was revived as an Ainsworth doll.

She uses the power of the [[LightNovel/FateZero Lancelot Card]].
----
* AnguishedDeclarationOfLove: Gives one to Shirou, offering to abandon everything with him if he decides to run away from the Holy Grail War.
-->'''Sakura''': There's one thing, if it's possible, if it can be granted... Please run away instead. Whether it's magic or Miyu, forget all of that and run away from this town. Senpai, if Senpai would do that... I would give up everything together with you...!
* AxCrazy: Miyu calls her "broken" as soon as she hears her long {{Yandere}} rant. It's likely a result of either the use of her card's install or Julian's manipulations.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Julian is able to put her under his control by impersonating Shirou and talking about mundane activities like her club.
* BrokenSmile: Sports one when she presents the Gilgamesh Card to Shirou, stating the peaceful days were at an end.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Heavily implied when Shirou asks about her childhood.
-->'''Shirou''': As a kid... I just can't see it. What you were like back then... Sakura?
-->'''Sakura''': I don't.. enjoy remembering the past.
* DeclarationOfProtection: Gives one to Shirou shortly before trying to Install the Archer Card.
-->'''Sakura''': You didn't choose me, but I love you. So, I'll protect you.
* {{Elopement}}: Sakura ''wanted'' to do this with Shirou, to run away from the Holy Grail War with him and go live in peace. But he refuses to leave Miyu alone and her brother attacks her.
* FateWorseThanDeath: Poor Sakura is killed by her asshole brother Shinji and is later forced by Julian to attack her former lover by pretending to be him using his appearance. It doesn't help when the class card she's forced to use drives her insane.
* HeroKiller: Grievously injures Shirou upon introduction, leading the latter to warn Miyu she's no match for Sakura.
* MetaTwist: [[ForegoneConclusion We already know]] that in the present Sakura is being controlled by Julian, so [[HowWeGotHere Shirou's story]] will tell us how she was kidnapped and brainwashed just like Rin and Luvia were earlier, leaving the door open to [[IKnowYoureInThereSomewhereFight save her]] later with ThePowerOfFriendship, right? The best thing [[FanNickname Sakuralot]] has to look forward to is a few fleeting moments of [[DyingAsYourself dying as herself]].
* NoSell: True to her Card, she can steal and master any of her enemies' Noble Phantasms, making her the perfect counter against Gilgamesh and Shirou.
* SacrificialLion: She's killed trying to protect Shirou from Shinji, leading to the former summoning his Class Card. It also explains why he's so surprised to see her in her current state.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Wears Lancelot's suit of armour except for the chestpiece, baring her midriff, cleavage and backside.
* TragicMonster: She's Shirou's love interest, killed and turned into his enemy by his former friend.
