Dark guilds are guilds in the ''Manga/FairyTail'' series that act without consent of the Magic Council. They are mainly all criminal organizations, and serve as antagonists in the series. The page also includes cults, which are cut from a different cloth from dark guilds but more or less operate the same way.

''Here be spoilers.''

!Other Dark Guilds

The first dark guild of the series. The members of this guild seek out the demon flute Lullaby and try to use its deadly music to launch an assassination plot against the guild masters of Fiore.

* ArcVillain: Of the Lullaby arc.

!!Erigor / Grim Reaper
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KoichiTochika (JP), Jonathan Brooks (EN)

[[caption-width-right:225:[[labelnote:Click here for spoiler]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/grimreaper-ftanime_7483.jpg[[/labelnote]]]]

The ace and acting leader of Eisenwald. He is skilled at using Wind Magic to attack, defend, and trap opponents.

Post-TimeSkip, Erigor appears as a member of the Reborn Oración Seis under the name "Grim Reaper". In exchange for his memories of his entire life, he gains storm magic to control the weather.

* BadassLongcoat: Wears one when he reappears in the anime, which is also the one that Jellal wears later on.
* BaldOfEvil: Post-TimeSkip.
* BigBad: Of the Lullaby arc, where he attempts to use the Lullaby flute to kill the Guild Masters, with Lullaby itself serving as the GreaterScopeVillain.
* BlowYouAway: He uses Wind Magic.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: As Grim Reaper.
* DoNotTouchTheFunnelCloud: The whole point of his Wind Wall spell is that the visible part is definitely ''not'' something you want to touch. His Storm Mail spell works under a similar principle, but as a [[SubvertedTrope subversion]] there's still a great deal of wind blowing around the funnel itself.
* ElementalRockPaperScissors: Holds this in Natsu's face when they fight. [[SubvertedTrope Backfires spectacularly]] [[ConvectionSchmonvection in the end]].
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Memories of his TrueCompanions from Eisenwald are the first thing to stir when his brainwashing starts to fade. Even in his mental realm, Erigor pictures his old self standing besides the silhouettes of his Eisenwald guildmates.
* {{Flight}}: One of the few characters who can do so unaided by wings.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Post TimeSkip, he decides to conclude his duel with Bickslow and Wendy by dropping a [[EverythingsBetterWithCows whole herd of cows on them.]]
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: He gives up his memories in exchange for power over the TimeSkip. As such, he doesn't remember anything about being Erigor of Eisenwald.
* MakingASplash: Post-TimeSkip, with his Storm Magic he can do this as well. It all ties into him controlling ''all'' forms of weather.
* MindControlEyes: As a member of the Reborn Oración Seis, his eyes are shown to be a dull, glassy gray. His personality is also much more subdued than in his earlier appearances.
* RazorWind: His winds can form sharp blades.
* RedBaron: Earned the title "{{Shinigami}}" due to his only taking requests to kill people. Ironically, he looks more like TheGrimReaper. This incidentally becomes his codename when he joins the Reborn Oración Seis, and even before that the dub changed it to "The Reaper".
* ReviveKillsZombie: When Wendy realizes that the memories of his past are physically hurting him, she keeps on casting healing spells on him until he recovers all his memories, freeing him from Oración Seis' grasp.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: In his first appearance.
* ShockAndAwe: Post-TimeSkip, thanks to his newfound Storm Magic.
* SinisterScythe: Part of his death motif. After the TimeSkip, his scythe seems necessary for his Storm Magic.
* TattooedCrook: Has noticeable blue tattoos on his chest and black ones under his eyes.
* TookALevelInBadass: After the TimeSkip he's become an official member of the Reborn Oración Seis, looks a lot more like the Grim Reaper, and can throw whole hurricanes on people with ease. Too bad he also loses his memory.
* WakeUpCallBoss: He was the first antagonist that Natsu couldn't just bash into a wall with raw determination and required actual strategy to defeat.
* VillainForgotToLevelGrind: Downplayed in his return during the "Nirvana" arc in the anime, where he explicitly states he did grind in preparation for his rematch with Natsu. Unfortunately for him, Natsu's grinded a hell of a lot more by that point and kicks his ass. Averted entirely by his return Post-Timeskip during the "Key to the Starry Heavens" arc, where he TookALevelInBadass.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: In most of his appearances he doesn't wear a shirt, mostly to show off his tattoos and chest. He does wear one in the anime when he reappears in the "Nirvana" arc, but loses it when Jellal steals his clothes.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: After his defeat, Lucy fears that Erigor will come back to take revenge. However, he's never seen and barely even mentioned again after that.
** The anime rectifies this. He reappears in the Nirvana arc as part of one of the many dark guilds controlled by Oración Seis, and has a rematch with Natsu. However, the drastic differences in their power are made apparent, and he's taken out in less than half an episode and his clothes are stolen by Jellal while he's unconscious. He later appears after the TimeSkip as a full-blown member of the Reborn Oración Seis.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: While not without some sense of honor or empathy, he's very temperamental and mocking, and he earned his title of "Shinigami"/"Reaper" by his preference for only taking assassination requests.
* WorthyOpponent: During his anime-only rematch with Natsu, he admits that what he'd really hoped for was to fight Natsu again and win.

!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AnriKatsu (JP), Chad Cox (EN)

Erigor's right-hand man. He uses shadow magic to blend into his surroundings.

* CastingAShadow: He is an accomplished shadow wizard, and can use shadows for a variety of purposes, including CombatTentacles and transportation.
* DarkIsNotEvil: He is unable to bring himself to actually kill the guild masters, especially after Team Natsu helps him out, leading to his HeelFaceTurn.
* TheDragon: To Erigor.
* {{Expy}}: He is essentially an [[EvilCounterpart evil]], older [[Manga/{{Naruto}} Shikamaru]], though he is definitely his own character.
%%* HeelFaceTurn
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: By Karacka, to shut him up.
* MeaningfulName: "Kage" means "shadow".
* ShapingYourAttacks: The Orochi Shadow, along with many fist and hand-shaped attacks.
* TheSmartGuy: Is hinted to be highly intelligent due to his [[InformedAbility mastery of sealing magic]].
* YouHaveFailedMe: Has this pulled on him before he can possibly betray Eisenwald. Natsu [[BerserkButton is not amused]].

!!!'''Voiced by:''' Eiji Sekiguchi (JP), Will Christoferson (EN)

A wizard who uses Urumi magic to create blades that ensnare his opponents.

* BullyingADragon: He taunts Gray.
* EliteMooks: Has a bit more characterization then the other {{Mooks}} of Eisenwald.
* HumanPopsicle: After his battle against Gray.
* OhCrap: His face after getting encased in ice.
* WhipSword: How his magic works.

!!!'''Voiced by:''' Masaki Kawanabe (JP), Chris Cason (EN)

A fat wizard who can use earth magic to phase his body through objects.

* DishingOutDirt: Karacka's Earth Magic allows him to phase through walls and, in the anime, [[ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice people as well]].
* EliteMooks: Has a bit more characterization then the other {{Mooks}} of Eisenwald.
* HeelFaceTurn: Karacka is seen free and reformed at the Fantasia festival.
* FatBastard: Fat and part of a Dark Guild.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Karacka runs away after seeing his comrades defeated by Erza.

!!!'''Voiced by:''' Daisuke Endou (JP), Tyson Rinehart (EN)

A wizard who uses Light Magic and {{Telekinesis}}.

* AnimeHair: Has a pillar of hair.
* BullyingADragon: He taunts Erza and Rayule taunts Gray.
* EliteMooks: Has a bit more characterization then the other {{Mooks}} of Eisenwald.
* LightEmUp: Appears able to use light magic, though he's beaten by Erza before he can use it.
* LightIsNotGood: It's clear, however, that his magic doesn't make him a good guy.
* TooDumbToLive: Thinks he can take on Erza, even after witnessing her wipe out the bulk of their guild's numbers [[OneManArmy all on her own]] firsthand. [[CurbStompBattle The results are predictable]].

[[folder:Death's Head Caucus]]
An assassin's guild known for harboring a trio of powerful wizards known as Trinity Raven. They replace Erza's friends as Jellal's minions once the others switch sides.
* AdaptationExpansion: We don't see what becomes of them in the manga after they're beaten, implying that they died when the tower fell. The anime however adds a scene to show Fukuro managed to grab Ikaruga and Vidaldus and escape due to his rocket pack. [[spoiler:The exact canonicity of this scene is up for debate, since Ikaruga reappears in the manga as one of Neinhart's [[BackFromTheDead Historias]], but there's nothing to suggest she didn't die of other causes in the intervening ''eight years'' between said events]].
* AnimalThemeNaming: They're all named after birds: "Ikaruga" is a Japanese grosbeak, "Fukuro" is a type of owl, and Vidaldus's last name, "Taka", is Japanese for "hawk".
* BloodKnight: Vidaldus is the AxCrazy type, Fukuro's the one with the facade of justice, and Ikaruga's the more reserved type.
* FusionDance: Either they commonly inhabit Vidaldus' body for the majority of the time or they are summoned when he activates his power.
* ProfessionalKiller: They are group of assassins who participate in killing of others.
* QuirkyMinibossSquad: Quirky, but deadly.

!!!Voiced by: Creator/NaomiShindo (JP), Jennifer Seman (EN)

The leader of Trinity Raven who wears a kimono and speaks in ''haiku''. She possesses a sword that can cut through anything and uses Sword Magic to create spells through her katana.

* AbsurdlySharpBlade: She can cut through ''anything'', even dimensional barriers.
* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler:She's brought back as a Historia, and gangs up on Erza with the help of Azuma and Kyoka]].
* BeatThemAtTheirOwnGame: How she is defeated.
* BeautyMark: She has a mole underneath each eye.
* BloodlessCarnage: In the anime, Ikaruga manages to incapacitate Sho by [[ExaggeratedTrope slicing his nerves without cutting the skin]].
* DarkActionGirl: A very skilled swordswoman as well as a mercenary working for Jellal.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: [[spoiler:As a Historia]], expresses distaste for Kyoka torturing Erza.
* IaijutsuPractitioner: Combines this with RazorWind to slash her opponents to pieces without taking a single step. She can draw and resheathe her sword so fast that even Erza can't follow it.
* ImplausibleFencingPowers: Again, there's nothing she can't slice, no matter how hard or even abstract it is.
* ImpossiblyLowNeckline: She wears her kimono this way.
* KatanasAreJustBetter: Ikaruga's WeaponOfChoice.
* LadyOfWar: She has a serene grace while trying to slaughter Erza.
* PlayingWithFire: Her sword can act as a flamethrower.
* SparedByAdaptation: [[spoiler: She is seeing escaping the Tower of Heaven in the anime, while in the manga, her presence in Neinhart's magic confirms she died here, assuming that she didn't die of unrelated causes in the intervening eight years]].
* WarriorPoet: Ikaruga recites ''haiku''.
* [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair You Gotta Have Pink Hair]]: Her hair is light pink.

!!Vidaldus Taka
!!!Voiced by: Creator/HikaruMidorikawa (JP), Mike [=McFarland=] (EN)

Introduced as Jellal's stoic personal attendant, he reveals himself as a hyperactive punk rocker who uses his Hair Magic to absorb liquid and Guitar Magic to control Juvia.

%%* AxCrazy
* BigOlEyebrows: Though they are more prominent before transforming.
* CatchPhrase: "Go to Hell!"
* DeathSeeker: When he learns that the Magic Council is planning to fire [[KillSat Etherion]] on the Tower of Heaven, he is at first angry that he hadn't been told about it earlier, but then decides he doesn't care because he enjoys fighting with his life on the line. His ultimate goal is to die and go to Hell.
%%* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette
* LargeHam: He is a punk rocker.
%%* LaughablyEvil: He is ''hilarious''.
* MagicMusic: Vidaldus uses his music to [[BrainwashedAndCrazy take control of Juvia]].
* ManiacTongue: Frequently makes wild expressions with his tongue out, as does Juvia while under his control.
* MindRape: The things Juvia says when his music is [[BrainwashedAndCrazy taking over her mind and body]] make it come across as this.
* MusicalAssassin: A freakish rocker modeled after a KISS member, who takes control of people with music and makes them fight each other, definitely counts.
* PhlebotinumOverload: Lucy takes advantage of his liquid-absorbing hair by summoning Aquarius, who conjures too much water for him to handle and pins him down for a finishing blow.
* ThePowerOfRock: Which he uses to make women his slaves, along with his guitar and hair magic.
* PowerPerversionPotential: Uses his "Rock of Succubus" song to brainwash girls into being his slaves. He forces the brainwashed Juvia to fight Lucy just so he can watch a CatFight.
* PrehensileHair: It's super absorbent too.
* RapunzelHair: Lampshaded by Lucy.
-->"That's some long hair!"
* SurprisinglyGoodEnglish: His Japanese voice actor spouts phrases like "Go to hell!", "Rock you!", and "Rock of Succubus" in virtually flawless English.
* WalkingShirtlessScene

!!!Voiced by: Creator/RikiyaKoyama (JP), Daniel Penz (EN)

A large man with an owl's head, a jetpack, and a very [[KnightTemplar warped view of justice]] who uses Absorption Magic to eat people and absorb their power.

* TheAssimilator: Kirby-style; swallowing opponents to gain their magic, as well as taking on a bit of their appearance.
* CannibalismSuperpower: Does this to Natsu.
* CombatPragmatist: He studies his "prey" and will exploit any vulnerabilities they have, like Natsu's motion sickness.
* JetPack: Fukuro's jet pack consists of two [[CrazyAwesome ICBM missiles]].
* JusticeWillPrevail: Fukuro likes to think of himself as a superhero punishing evildoers, despite being quite the lawbreaker himself.
* LargeHam: He thinks he's some sort of superhero.
* MegaManning: Fukuro's magic allows him to take the magic of anyone he eats.
* NoSell: Having a owl's eyes, he does this to Simon's darkness spell, as he can still see him.
* PrimalFear: Embodies being eaten alive.
* ObliviouslyEvil: He works with a DarkActionGirl and an AxCrazy rockstar to aid a BrainwashedAndCrazy Jellal in his evil sceme, yet he calls Natsu and his friends the bad guys.
* OminousOwl: He's basically a human with an owl's head, with all of the benefits it entails, and [[PrimalFear then some]].
* VocalDissonance: Likely due to his owlish head.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: Shows that the rest of his body is human, despite his owl head.

[[folder:Naked Mummy]]
One of the lesser dark guilds in the series. They try to rob the Love & Lucky merchants' guild (where Lucy's father works after he loses his fortune) to pay off a debt to their superiors, Oración Seis.

!!Gato & Zato
!!!Gato is voiced by: Hiroki Goto (JP), Cris George (EN)\\
Zato is voiced by: Tomoyuki Higuchi (JP), Paul Giovanni Ramirez (EN)

[[caption-width-right:225:Top: Gato. Bottom: Zato.]]

A pair of monkey-like brothers who run Naked Mummy together.

* AnimalMotifs: Monkeys.
* BullyingADragon: Zato spreads plenty of rumors about Fairy Tail being a weak guild and tries beating Laxus to the ground. [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown The results are predictable]].
* EverythingsBetterWithMonkeys
* FunnyAfro: Zato
* HarmlessVillain: Fights Fairy Tail three times and gets [[CurbStompBattle curb stomped]] every single time.
* LetsGetDangerous: When they prepare to fight Natsu and Gray. They still get their asses handed to them.
* NoodleIncident: Their fight against Natsu and Gray off-screen. They are apparently strong enough to cause them some trouble.
* RedBaron: "Crazy Monkey" Gato
* RunningGag: The fact that they call each other "Big Brother", making it impossible to determine who is really the other brother. Gato has also the habit of repeating what he's just said.

[[folder:Succubus Eye]]
A Dark Guild that makes its appearance after the TimeSkip. Notable in that it has a role on the Taiyou village arc and that Minerva is one of its members. Also notable in that it is a subordinate guild to Tartarus.

!!!'''Voiced by:''' Taku Yashiro (JP), Xan Cramer (EN)

The first member of Succubus Eye, with most of the details about him unknown. He is Minerva's superior, and he has the ability to make people regress back into children. Also, he's not human; he's actually a demon summoned from the Books of Zeref by Tartarus.

* AlwaysABiggerFish: How does he finally lose? That flying, one-eyed monster from before flies down and eats him.
* AttackBackfire: Due to the way [[ImaginationBasedSuperpower Maker Magic]] works, Doriate's power ended up being more helpful to Gray than harmful, in spite of weakening his power.
* BerserkButton: When Gray, despite being turned back into a child, is able to fight back and even talk down at him, Doriate gets so angry he loses focus on the Law of Regression and assumes his demon form to attack Gray.
* BrownNote: In his demon form, his [[FountainOfYouth Law of Regression]] can be used as a sound wave so that instead of only being able to affect the enemy in front of him, it was able to regress everybody in the Sun Village back to their childhood. The downside is that it doesn't discriminate between friend or foe, as seen when it hits his partner Minerva.
* CombatPragmatist: He turns his victims into children so that they'll be easier to deal with. He also doesn't waste any time casting it once an enemy is in sight.
* DeathByIrony: After wanting to [[ImAHumanitarian eat Gray]], he himself gets eaten by [[AlwaysABiggerFish a giant, flying monster]].
* DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength: He can still use his magic while in his OneWingedAngel form, but he is no longer capable of aiming (or he just doesn't bother to do so anymore), causing everyone - including [[FriendlyFire Minerva]] and [[QuirkyMinibossSquad Sylph Labyrinth]] - to get hit with Law of Regression.
* FangsAreEvil: Even with his mouth shut, he has a lot of fangs jutting out.
* FountainOfYouth: His magic hits his victims with this. According to him, his magic actually affects the magic power of the victim, and their turning into a child is a secondary effect.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Why was he subconsciously avoiding the ice around him? The ice was made via Devil Slayer magic, which would cause heavy damage to beings like him.
* ImAHumanitarian: If his attempt to ''eat'' Gray is any indication.
%%* KilledOffForReal
* KryptoniteIsEverywhere: Bordering on TooDumbToLive, as the area he was fighting in was coated in ice that would severely damage him.
* NoBadassToHisValet: He's likely aware that Minerva is the former ace of Sabertooth, but that doesn't change the fact she is still a newbie in her current guild.
* OneWingedAngel: When he gets really angry he hulks out into a huge demon. On the bright side, he's too angry to keep up the Law of Regression in this state.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: He's a demon from the Books of Zeref.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: His eyes are revealed to be red in the anime, and he is ''[[{{Understatement}} not]]'' a nice guy.
* StatusBuff: Law of Regression's primary effect is to lower the opponent's abilities; the transformation into a child is a side effect.
* WouldHurtAChild: He definitely has no problem with beating up adults with the bodies of children. We've never seen him fight actual kids, but given his personality, he'd probably attack children like he would any other.
* WeakButSkilled: Subverted. Gray assumes he uses Law Of Regression to weaken his enemies as a means to make up for his somewhat average power, which seems to match up to how the fight was going. Then he reveals his true colors as a powerful demon.

!!Minerva Orlando

[[folder:Tower of Heaven]]
A group of slaves in the Tower of Heaven, a structure made by a cult of evil wizards for the purpose of resurrecting the black wizard Zeref. They befriended Erza and Jellal as children. They were turned against Erza by Jellal, who they assist in building the tower as workers with benefits rather than slaves.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Erza.
* EvilFormerFriend: When they're introduced, they kidnap Erza with the intention of sacrificing her to the Tower of Heaven.
* HeelFaceTurn: All of them turn against Jellal once they realize how crazy he is.
* HeelRealization: Simon was the first to realize that what he was doing was wrong.
* MadeASlave: Like all children in the Tower of Heaven.
* MoreThanMindControl: Jellal tells them that Erza had [[DrunkWithPower gone mad with her newfound magical power]] and tried leading them into a trap, and keeps feeding them lies for years to ensure they remain faithful to him.
** The English dub tweaks things a bit by saying that Jellal ensured their loyalty with a mind control spell that only works ''after'' tricking them all the same (which Simon resists thanks to the PowerOfTrust). [[FridgeBrilliance This makes more sense out of their almost insane hostility towards Erza despite their earlier love for her, and their swift return to their original friendliness once they realize they were being manipulated]].
* QuirkyMinibossSquad: To Jellal during the Tower of Heaven arc.
* TrueCompanions: They were this to Erza as a child.

!!!Voiced by: Creator/HiroShimono (JP), Creator/GregAyres (EN)

A young man who uses Card Magic to trap others inside cards. He views Erza as an older sister even when he believes that she had betrayed them.

* AmbiguouslyBrown: One of the Q&A sections (hosted by Lucy and Mira, no less) notes the problem with this trope since Sho and the others should've been inside the tower for most of the time (except when they kidnapped Erza). Lucy [[WildMassGuessing takes a guess]] and theorizes that Sho could've been working on the outer walls of the tower and spent so much time in the sun that his skin eventually tanned into its current color. Mira accepts this theory, but Lucy points out that it was just a [[ShrugOfGod guess]].
* DarkSkinnedBlonde: This has lead to quite a bit of WildMassGuessing, both among the fandom and InUniverse.
* DeathDealer: Sho's magic involves the use of cards, either as prison dimensions or projectiles.
* GoMadFromTheRevelation: Sho, who was already quite the fanatic when it came to Jellal, loses it when Erza provides a contradictory version of the past.
* ItsAllMyFault: He blames himself for not speaking up about masterminding the escape, resulting in Jellal doing it instead, which in turn results in Erza being taken to the punishment room. Erza doesn't hold it against him, though.

!!Simon Mikazuchi
!!!Voiced by: Creator/YasuyukiKase (JP), Creator/JMichaelTatum (EN), Kim Foster (EN - young)

A large man with a missing jaw who uses Darkness Magic. He has a long-standing crush on Erza, and is the only one of her friends who doesn't believe Jellal's lies of her betrayal. He also turns out to be Kagura's older brother.

* AdaptationalAttractiveness: In the manga, his appearance was more brutish and his upper teeth could usually be seen over his metal jaw early on. The anime changed this (as well as his child appearance) into a more "scarred-Bishonen" type appearance. Mashima probably thought making him "a tad ugly" would get the audience to sympathize with him more during his death. [[TearJerker It worked]].
* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler:He's resurrected as a Historias and used against Kagura, Erza and Jellal]].
* CastingAShadow: He specializes in darkness magic.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: He has been in love with Erza since they were kids.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Simon's uses Darkness Magic, yet he is the first to switch to Fairy Tail's side.
* DiedInYourArmsTonight: He dies in Erza's arms.
* DyingDeclarationOfLove: Subverted in that he never actually confesses to Erza, he just thinks it.
** Subverted again as Erza tells Wally that she now knew how he felt all along at the end of the arc.
* EveryoneCanSeeIt: All his friends knew about his crush on Erza.
* EyepatchOfPower: To cover his missing eye.
* EyeScream: Simon lost an eye and the lower half of his jaw during the slave revolt.
* GentleGiant: Despite being absolutely massive, he only uses his bulk to shield others.
* GeniusBruiser: Is well informed about Team Natsu's abilities and has heard of the dreaded Trinity Raven before meeting them himself.
* GoodAllAlong: He never was truly working for Jellal.
* GreenEyedMonster: Towards Jellal, since he knew about Erza's feelings for him.
* HeroicSacrifice[=/=]TakingTheBullet: Simon takes an attack meant to kill both Erza and Natsu by himself, [[KilledOffForReal and the results are rather predictable.]]
* InterruptedDeclarationOfLove: Eight years ago, he tried to confesses to Erza during the slave revolt. [[RealityEnsues He got blasted in the face doing it.]]
* KilledOffForReal: Takes the bullet for Erza and Natsu and is one of the few characters, let alone heroic characters, to be killed.
* SacrificialLion: The only good one so far.
* {{Telepathy}}: Simon is able to communicate telepathically over distances through this.

!!Wally Buchanan
!!!Voiced by: Creator/KazuyaIchijo (JP), Chris Cason (EN), Shelley Osterberger (EN - young)

A gunslinging man who uses Polygon Magic to separate his angular body into blocks. He talks, dresses, and acts like a 1920's gangster, as a gangster movie was the first thing he saw when he and the other slaves were freed.

* AbnormalAmmo: Wally's guns can shoot magic bullets.
* ArmCannon: In the anime.
* BadassInANiceSuit: A nice three-piece suit to go with the gangster look
* CatchPhrase: "Dandy."
* {{Fanboy}}: Of gangsters.
* TheGunslinger: He prefers Tommy Guns.
* NiceHat: Like all gangsters.
* TheNicknamer: Calls Natsu "boy".
* NoSocialSkills: He doesn't seem to know much about the real world besides what he has seen in movies. He doesn't understand why a man got angry at Milliana for taking one of his food on a stick without paying and he doesn't even know exactly what cash is either.
* RaisedByWolves: He and Millianna behave as if they've never been anywhere before. [[MadeASlave Makes sense]].
* SinisterShades: Again, to look like a gangster.
* UncannyFamilyResemblance: Wally with his brother Richard, aka Hoteye of Oración Seis.

!!!Voiced by: Grant James (EN)

A former member of Fairy Tail and an old friend of Makarov's. He taught Erza everything there was to know about Fairy Tail, and sacrificed himself to protect her during an escape attempt in the Tower of Heaven.

* BadassGrandpa: Holds off the gaurds of the Tower of Heaven by himself.
* BigOlEyebrows: ''They are longer than his beard.''
* CoolOldGuy: He inspire Erza to go to Fairy Tail.
%%* HairAntennae
* MadeASlave: He was a member of the Tower of Heaven.
* NoBodyLeftBehind: In the anime, his body ''crumbles apart''.
* ParentalSubstitute: To Erza and the other enslaved children.
* PlayingWithFire: The only spell he is seen using.
* PosthumousCharacter: Died years ago to give Erza her freedom.
* TakingTheBullet: To protect Erza.

A black magic cult that [[EvilPowerVacuum fills the void]] left after the Balam Alliance's defeat. They worship Zeref as a [[PhysicalGod Physical]] GodOfEvil, and seek to force every other wizard in Earth-land to do the same.
* AntiClimax: For the so self-proclaimed successors of the Balam Alliance, they were mere child's play compared to previous villains, as they endured a literal CurbStompBattle at the hands of [[spoiler: Fairy Tail]].
* {{Catchphrase}}: Zeref's will be done!!!
* CreepyCathedral: This serves as their base of operations, fitting for a cult of black wizards.
* {{Cult}}: Pretty much the human version of Tartaros's devotion to Zeref. There are several different numbers of cells that form the cult.
* CurbStompBattle: [[spoiler: On the receiving end of it come the final battle. Team Natsu practically decimates them without so much as a single scratch on them and even the War God Alok summons goes down in two punches by Natsu before he can wreck any havoc.]]
* EvilPlan: The goal of the cult is "Operation Purify" and [[spoiler: if Gajeel's words hold true it will bring about the deaths of many innocent people.Turns out that it's a plan to [[KillEmAll wipe out Malva town's population]], which they believe would summon Zeref. Though only Alok knows that the real sacrifices are the Avatar Cultists themselves.]]
* EvilPowerVacuum: With the Balam Alliance gone, they decide to finally take over in their place.
* {{Irony}}: They are performing their 'purification ritual' because they think it will summon Zeref. They actually got this backwards; Zeref doesn't appear because of a large number of deaths, a large number of deaths occur because of [[InstantDeathRadius Zeref's appearance]].
* MeaningfulName: In Hinduism, an avatar is a deliberate descent of a deity to Earth, or a descent of the Supreme Being and is mostly translated into English as "incarnation", but more accurately as "appearance" or "manifestation".
* {{Mooks}}: Like Tartaros they have a large amount of flunkies at their disposal.
* TheMole: Someone in the cult is a spy for the Magic Council leaking them information. Naturally everyone is on the edge. [[spoiler:It's [[Character/FairyTailTenrouGroup Levy]], masquerading as a rank-and-file cultist]].
** [[spoiler:Turns out that there's more than one person infiltrating the guild. That other person is Gray but he's been doing so as part of a mission with Erza that's completely separate from the council.]]
* NotWhatISignedUpFor: Alok never told his other members that his plan [[spoiler: banked on them being defeated so that he can unleash a war god and sacrifice them to it. Needless to say once they find out, they're utterly horrified.]]
* ReligionOfEvil: Worships Zeref as a living deity, much like Tartaros and Grimoire Heart.
* WantedPoster: They have their own wanted poster with a high amount of Jewels.

The high priest of Avatar. A faithful follower of Black Magic, he's currently planning a certain ritual to "purify" the world for Zeref.

* AllAccordingToPlan: [[spoiler:Cites that he saw the defeat of his members long before hand and it according to his plan for "Operation Purification". [[KillEmAll That's because he never intended anyone, even his fellow cultists, to survive "Operation Purification" anyways.]]]]
* ArcVillain: In the Fairy Tail Revival ( Avatar ) arc.
* AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever: [[spoiler:His ultimate summon, the God of War, Ikusatsunagi]].
* BadBoss: Doesn't give two craps about even his elites getting killed [[spoiler:after summoning Ikusatsunagi]], since in the end only devotion to Zeref matters.
* BadassCape: One that covers his entire body.
* BadassPreacher: Even if we haven't yet seen him in action, he exudes this trope in spades. [[spoiler:And he does not disappoint when he does]].
* BarrierWarrior: He creates barriers that his own attacks can pass through, but his enemy's can't. So Natsu just powers on through.
* CoolMask: An iron mask that covers his entire face.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: He's so blindly devoted to his cause that he scoff at things like friendship and family values.
* FacialHorror: He wears a mask because his face's flesh has been burned off.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: His entire face under his CoolMask is burned. [[spoiler:This is apparently the price for summoning Ikusatsunagi]].
* MagicStaff: He holds a staff with a eye with wings on it that looks similar to Keyes' [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khakkhara Khakkhara.]]
* NotSoStoic: [[spoiler: Get his upon seeing Ikusatsunagi go down in two power punches from Natsu foiling his endgame.]]
* TheStoic: [[spoiler: He did not seem phased by the defeat of his soldiers even suggesting this was to be expected.]]
* ThisCannotBe: [[spoiler: Left utterly dumbstruck that Natsu managed to beat a War God.]]
* SlasherSmile: Once his mask his damaged, he sports one of these while [[spoiler:Ikusatsunagi slaughters his own men]].
* SummonMagic: Though in a much different form that a Celestial Wizard. His apparently summons [[spoiler:''gods''. It's actually the same magic Minerva used during the Grand Magic Games, only a much higher-tier entity than what she summoned.]]
* TinTyrant: Aside from his BadassCape, he's decked out in a suit of armor that obscures his entire body from sight.
* WeHaveReserves: He does not give one single solitary ''crap'' about his followers (up to and including his ''own granddaughter''). See all those examples of TheWorfEffect below? Yeah, he ''[[AllAccordingToPlan wanted]]'' that to happen. [[spoiler:In fact, once he summons Ikusatsunagi, he [[SlasherSmile gleefully]] states that the souls of those who worship Zeref will be the ultimate sacrifice to their god.]] The absolute revulsion in Natsu's expression when he says this speaks volumes.

One of the cult members of Avatar who goes by the title "Shade Sword". He's very suspicious of their newest member, and accused him of being TheMole for the Magic Council.
* {{Bishonen}}: He's a definitive pretty boy with golden locks and long eyelashes.
* BlackSwordsAreBetter: Shows off his shade sword [[spoiler: right at Lucy's face on the ground.]]
* TheComicallySerious: He seems quite intrigued by Briar's nicknames.
* InformedAbility: He's supposed to be a MasterSwordsman, and his brief fights do seem to support that. And then he fought Erza...
* MakeThemRot: His sword has this effect on whatever it cuts.
* MessyHair: He is noted for his unkempt hair, which earns him the nickname "Scruffy" from Briar.
* OhCrap: [[spoiler: He's clearly shows his anger when Gray arrives to ruin the operation confirming his earlier suspicions.]]
* RedBaron: "Shade Sword" Jerome.
* TheWorfEffect: He jumps in on the battle against Erza, managing to corrode her armor. But the moment she likewise took out her own blade, he was ''already'' defeated because she has long since slashed him before he realizes it.

A female cultist of Avatar. She likes to give her comrades in the group certain nicknames depending on their behavior and themes, and at times seems to be the OnlySaneWoman in the guild. She's also been stated to be the strongest wizard of Avatar.
* AbsoluteCleavage: Her top is just a band of cloth tied together at the front.
%%* AmbiguouslyBrown
* BerserkButton: Betrayal. She took [[spoiler:Gray's]] very, very personally.
* DarkSkinnedBlond: Of the [[WhiteHairBlackHeart white-haired]] variety.
* DishingOutDirt: She can cause shockwaves through the ground while fighting.
* HumanPopsicle: [[spoiler: Three of her clones are now frozen in Gray's ice. ]]
* OnlySaneWoman: When Jerome got in [[spoiler:Gray's]] face accusing him of being TheMole for the Magic Council, she's the one who tried to keep the peace. Apparently, she knows what in-fighting can do to a Dark Guild, or a black magic cult for that matter.
* TheNicknamer: Tends to give weird nicknames to her teammates, such as "Scruffy" for Jerome, "Wicked Tongue" for Mary, and [[spoiler:"Ice" for Gray]]. She later gives Jerome the nickname "Eyelashes".
* SelfDuplication: Her splitting magic creates four clones, who [[LiteralSplitPersonality embody grief, love, happiness and rage]].
* TheStoic: She kept her cool when [[spoiler: Gray showed up to ruin Avatar's plans quickly ordering cultists to attack Team Natsu.]]
* VaporWear: It's a wonder how she doesn't completely explode out of her [[AbsoluteCleavage top]].
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Her outfit looks like a Middle-Eastern belly-dancer's outfit.
* WasItAllALie: She asks this of [[spoiler:Gray, when she finds out he was infiltrating the cult]]. [[BluntYes He says yes.]]
* TheWorfEffect: She was already having trouble with Gray. Juvia joining in on the fight pretty much sealed her defeat.

A female cultist of Avatar. She has a cat-themed motif and is head over heels for the newest member.
* AgonyBeam: Her Virus magic can be used in this way, though it's done through a viral infection.
* AnimalEaredHeadband: Wears a headband shaped like cat ears.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Don't her smiles fool you, she is not a Zeref cultist for the social aspect... [[spoiler:as Lucy and Natsu found out.]]
* CuteAndPsycho: Once we finally see her in action, she has the most [[DissonantSerenity bizarrely cheerful]] expression on her face, giggling while using her magic on Lucy.
* DangerouslyShortSkirt: The bottom half of her dress barely manages to cover the tops of her thighs. It's especially obvious after she's left on the ground following Lucy's MegatonPunch to her gut, with it riding almost up over her waist.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: Her eyes have diamond-shaped pupils.
* EtTuBrute: Just look at the despair on her face when she realizes that Arlock [[spoiler:never intended for her to survive Operation Purification]].
* LaserGuidedKarma: When she showed off her magic, she loves to target the stomach to see her opponents writhe in agony. When Lucy and she face off, Lucy takes her one out with one punch to the stomach (amplified by her Taurus dress robe). Ironically as she falls to the ground, Mary complains of feeling nauseous.
* MeaningfulName: Her name appears to be a reference to [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhoid_Mary Mary Mallon]], better known as Typhoid Mary, an infamously asymptomatic carrier of typhoid fever believed to have unintentionally infected fifty-one people (killing three of them), despite showing no outward signs of illness.
* PlagueMaster: Her magic infects nearby foes with viruses. She favors attacking the digestive tract, but can lethally target the brain.
* PerkyFemaleMinion: She's the most chipper of all the Avatar members.
* SlasherSmile: A rather creepy variant of this, in that it's what you get when you cross a SlasherSmile with a MoeStare.
* SoftSpokenSadist: She speaks care-freely as she tortures Lucy with her magic. Now we know how she got the nickname "Wicked Tongue" from Blair.
* SquishyWizard: She can't take punches well. Likewise, a wizard who has support magic (like Wendy) can easily counteract her viruses leaving her virtually defenseless.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: Her eyes are gold, and combined with the [[ExoticEyeDesigns pupils]], is meant to reinforce the [[AnimalMotif cat theme]].
* TearsOfFear: She cries after finding out [[spoiler: her grandfather intended to sacrifice her]] and again when Avatar is beaten after seeing how strong Fairy Tail is.
* TemptingFate: In her second meeting with Lucy, she once more targets Lucy's stomach, incapacitating her. All the while mocking how Fairy Tail is weak. Not a second after that statement, Wendy arrives and counters Mary's magic and, with no other means of offense, Mary's stuck blindly charging at Lucy and quickly gets dropped with [[SuperStrength one]] punch.
* VillainousCrush: Admits that she finds [[spoiler:Gray]] "dreamy."
* TheWorfEffect: Only took one hit to the stomach by Lucy ([[SuperStrength albeit using her Taurus dress]]) to be put down.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Her hair is pink.

A bald headed member of Avatar. He is the group's TortureTechnician who seems to have his eyes closed most of the time. Granted, it's for [[PuppyDogEyes good reason]].
* BaldOfEvil: He has no hair, and instead has kanji written on his forehead.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: He seems a bit comical about torture and his tea puns...[[spoiler: but that did not stop him from trying to cut Lucy in half.]]
* BigOlEyebrows: His are big and spiky.
* BilingualBonus: A two-for: Written with different kanji, his name means [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast "torture"]]. The kanji on his forehead, on the other hand, reads "matcha," which is a type of green tea.
* ChainPain: [[spoiler: Uses these along with magic cuffs to tie up Virgo and Natsu. They have an AntiMagic effect, as well.]]
* {{Cosplay}}: He's actually by his own admission cosplaying as Zeref with the attire he has on.
* EmbarrassingTattoo: To show his devotion to Zeref, he tattooed his forehead with what he believed was the kanji for Zeref. Unfortunately due to being unfamiliar with kanji, what he got doesn't read as Zeref, but (according to Lucy) as "matcha".
* EyesAlwaysShut: His whole face is scrunched up at all times. Probably because he [[PuppyDogEyes is a lot less intimidating]] with them open.
* {{Fanboy}}: InUniverse, of Zeref. He says that his choice of outfit is actually {{cosplay}}ing as Zeref, and he even thought the kanji on his forehead spelled Zeref's name ([[EmbarrassingTattoo it doesn't]]).
* HumanPopsicle: [[spoiler: He was frozen solid while trying to cut Lucy in half by his own "nakama," Gray Fullbuster.]]
* JustForPun: "He's bolt-[[IncrediblyLamePun tea-ng?!]]"
* MindOverMatter: His magic appears to be a form of telekinesis, with which he controls [[TortureTechnician torture instruments]].
* NakedPeopleAreFunny: [[spoiler: When Gajeel raids the Avatar headquarters, he finds Gomon stripped naked, bound and gagged and left on his horse torture device. Likely this was Natsu's doing in revenge for binding him.]]
* PungeonMaster: He has a tendency to make bad tea-related puns.
* ThisLoserIsYou: Appears to be a tongue-in-cheek parody of stereotypical {{fanboy}} convention-goers, especially fans of {{shonen}} villains.
* TortureTechnician: He has quite a collection of torture instruments, making him this for the cult. His arsenal of torture instruments include an iron maiden, and a [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wooden_horse_%28device%29 wooden horse]].
* TheWorfEffect: He [[CurbStompBattle never had a chance]] against Natsu.

A member of the Avatar cult decked head to toe in an impressive suit of armor. He only goes by the letter D and number 6, really begging the question of he's even human at all.
* CoolMask: Has an oddly-shaped mask with a small grate right in the center.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: More like red eye, which can glow.
* ShouldersOfDoom: He wears giant shoulder pads shaped like [[SpikesOfVillainy horned]] demon faces.
* TheUnreveal: We never find out his magic as he's beaten before he can reveal it.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: We never learn about his magic or if he's even human or not.
* TheWorfEffect: He gets [[CurbStompBattle curb-stomps]] ''twice'' before we're even see what his magic can do. First time by Natsu when he tried to ambush him and again by Pantherlily as he's trying to rally the retreating Avatar army.
* YouAreNumberSix: His name is simply a letter and a number.

A childlike member of the Avatar Cult. He wears clown makeup and the doll he carries around used to belong to a certain someone in Grimore Heart.
* ChekhovsGun: Yes, that doll he's holding is Mr. Cursey. Able uses the same type of magic as [[Characters/FairyTailGrimoireHeart Kain Hikaru.]] [[spoiler: He shows off it's magic on Happy as the trio gets captured. ]]
* CreepyChild: He certainly looks and acts like one, given his tiny size.
* HollywoodVoodoo: Uses the same type of magic as Kain, right down to using the same voodoo doll.
* MeaningfulName: His name is almost certainly a reference to CainAndAbel from Literature/TheBible. Interestingly, another character named [[Characters/FairyTailGrimoireHeart Kain]] was the previous owner of the doll he's always seen holding, which Able himself confirms.
* MonsterClown: The makeup he wears resembles a clown, and he certainly didn't join a cult worshipping Zeref to do good things.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: We don't learn the relationship with him and Kain or how he got the doll from Kain.
* TheWorfEffect: Natsu takes him out [[OneHitKill with one attack]]. Happens again in the climax by Gajeel who likewise swipes Mr. Cursey from him.
