[[header:Celestial Spirits]]

Celestial Spirits are beings from another world who are summoned specifically by celestial wizards such as Lucy using a set of magic keys (called Gatekeys) to summon them.

----
[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:General Tropes]]
* AstonishinglyAppropriateAppearance: Each spirit bears at least a minor resemblance to what the constellation they're based on is supposed to represent.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: All spirits have their own unique personality quirks, but they almost always come through for their masters in a pinch.
* HonorBeforeReason: Spirits can only be summoned per a pre-determined schedule with their contracted owner, and they follow it to the letter once set. This usually spells trouble for their owners, particularly Lucy, who all too often [[DeusExitMachina finds herself unable to summon particular spirits when their skills are most needed]].
* {{Immortality}}: They can't be killed by a wizard's attack and can [[FromASingleCell regenerate]], but they can still feel pain. The only surefire way for a spirit to die is if they use up all of their magic in the human world and are unable to return.
* NighInvulnerable: They can be hurt with conventional attacks, but they'll recover with little to no permanent scars. The only surefire way to kill a spirit is to make them stay in the human world longer than they're capable of, at which point [[NoBodyLeftBehind they fade away and die]].
* OutOfFocus: Silver Key spirits in general, with Lucy's eventually vanishing from the manga. Despite being more common we see fewer Silver keys than the ultra rare Gold keys. Partly justified by the lower combat capabilities of Silver Keys and the dearth of Celestial Wizards in Earthland following the 7-year timeskip.
* SpotlightStealingSquad: The Twelve Zodiac Spirits take the lion's share of screen-time due to being more useful in combat.
* StellarName: All spirits' names come from constellations and stars.
* ThemeNaming: All spirits are named after their respective constellations; however, most if not all lesser spirits are actually just one of a species, and get their own names.
* YearOutsideHourInside: One day in the Celestial Spirit World is equal to three months in the human world. Unfortunately for Natsu and co., they are oblivious to this when they decide to take a break from their three-month training session for the Grand Magic Games.

[[folder:Celestial Spirit King]]
!!Celestial Spirit King
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/NorioWakamoto (Japanese), Cole Brown (English) [[note]] '''Other languages''': Santos Alberto (Latin American Spanish); Creator/CarolineCombes (French)[[/note]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_celestial_spirit_king.png]]

The sovereign of the Celestial Spirit World, and the most powerful spirit of all. Though he may appear intimidating and stony-faced, he is not unjust and is extremely amicable to those he considers his friends and allies.
----
* AntiMagic: Galaxia Blade, his most powerful ability, uses the [[StarPower pure light of the stars]] to break Mard Geer's [[TakenForGranite Alegria curse]] on Fairy Tail.
* {{BFS}}: Wields an extremely powerful greatsword decorated with star imagery. Considering how huge ''he'' is, that just makes it even bigger.
* BadassArmFold: Keeps his arms folded in a rather cool manner throughout his first appearance.
* BadassCape: Accompanied by DramaticWind at all times.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: He's incredibly chummy with those he considers his friends and allies, but he will show no mercy to those who challenge him to battle, ''especially'' if they harmed said friends and allies.
* CoolHelmet: Wears a really nice-looking and intimidating horned helmet that is also decorated with fins and an upside-down star.
* CoolSword: His {{BFS}} is richly decorated with star imagery, and is powerful enough to cut one of the most powerful dark guilds' traveling headquarters into several pieces.
* DynamicEntry: Makes an epic entrance in the Tartaros arc when Lucy manages to summon him following Aquarius's sacrifice. He does this by slicing Tartaros's headquarters, Plutogrim, into pieces.
* GodzillaThreshold: Summoning him requires a celestial wizard to sacrifice one golden key they hold a strong bond with, meaning that they can never be summoned again, at least until a new key reforms, but even then, it's up for grabs by any user. Therefore, summoning him is only considered as a very last resort.
* LargeAndInCharge: King of the Celestial Spirits and a huge giant that towers over everybody.
* LargeHam: Every sentence he utters is spoken with a booming, godlike authority. Not only that, but half the fandom fell over in their chairs when they first heard [[Creator/NorioWakamoto who was doing his voice]].
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: His decision to invite Lucy and her friends to party for a day in the Celestial Spirit World costs them their three months of training for the Grand Magic Games.
* NotSoAboveItAll: He is introduced as a serious and stern figure, and he strikes an imposing image, but he is also prone to pranking, such as telling Lucy that the Celestial World was in danger of destruction when he was inviting her guildmates to a party. Then he poses with fans.
* PhysicalGod: As the leader and mightiest of the Celestial Spirits with multiple powers seemingly unique to himself and of a higher tier than any other, it's hard to call him anything else.
* PowerAtAPrice: It is possible to summon him, but the cost is that one must destroy a gold Gatekey with a spirit that the summoner has a strong connection to, meaning they can never be summoned or appear in the human world again. Fortunately, a new key will be reformed after one year, but it does not renew the spirit's contract, and where it appears is completely random, requiring the spirit's original owner to find it and form a new contract if they wish to use that spirit again.
* RankScalesWithAsskicking: King of the Celestial Spirits, and the most powerful of them all.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: He's the king of the Celestial Spirits and a benevolent leader. Upon seeing Lucy's conviction in overturning the law that saw Leo banished for unintentionally killing his owner out of protection for Aries, the king relents and pardons Leo, allowing him to return to the spirit world.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: He takes a bit of time to rip into Mard Geer's beliefs that HumansAreInsects and VirtueIsWeakness, chiding and even pitying the demon on some level for his inability to see the value of trust and friendship.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: A benevolent example; he has red eyes and shows no mercy to his or his friends' enemies, but is otherwise a quite jovial spirit towards his friends.
* TheRival: To Mard Geer of Tartaros. The two even take a moment to reminiscence about their prior meeting centuries ago before engaging in their battle to the death.
* {{Spellblade}}: He can use his magic sword to create powerful attacks that split entire oceans.
* StarPower: He draws power from the stars themselves to produce his attacks.
* SuperEmpowering: When Lucy sacrifices Aquarius' key to summon him, he grants Lucy the ability to use Aquarius's [[MakingASplash magic]] so she can finish off Jackal, and this in turn allows her to use [[ClothesMakeTheSuperman Star Dress: Aquarius]] without possessing Aquarius' key anymore.
* TimeStandsStill: In the anime, time stops for everything except Lucy and Loke when he appears in the human world.
[[/folder]]

!!Gold Keys of the Zodiac

There are twelve different types of golden Zodiac keys that can be used to summon one of the twelve spirits of the Zodiac, only one of each key existing in the world. Incidentally, all the gold keys introduced in the series come into Lucy's possession, with the exception of three, which are in the possession of Yukino Agria.

!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/SayakaNarita (Japanese), Didi Archilla[[note]]credited as Didi Duron until episode 204[[/note]] (English) [[note]]'''Other languages''': Diana Huicochea (Latin American Spanish) [[/note]]
[[quoteright:225:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/FT_Aries_3670.jpg]]

Aries is a meek spirit who can conjure fluffy pink clouds of wool in battle. Her original master was the abusive Karen Lilica until Angel killed Karen and took her key as the spoils of battle. After Angel is defeated, Aries comes into Lucy's possession.
----
* AnimalGenderBender: She represents the astrological sign of the ram, which is a ''male'' sheep.
* ApologeticAttacker: She apologizes to her opponents before wool-bombing them, which doesn't even hurt them anyway.
* ApologizesALot: "I'm sorry" is her CharacterCatchphrase, [[ApologeticAttacker even in battle]].
* BadassAdorable: She can send any opponent into submission with her wool, and [[ApologeticAttacker apologizes every time]].
* BreakTheCutie: Her first two owners were extremely unkind to her: Karen wasn't above using her as a living shield, and even threatened to beat her; Angel, meanwhile, pits her against her dear friend Leo, knowing it would be hard on them both. Thankfully, she recovers nicely once she contracts Lucy.
* BuxomBeautyStandard: She has a pretty sizable bust, which is why [[DudeMagnet so many guys are attracted to her]].
* CharacterCatchphrase: "''Sumimasen!''" ("[[ApologizesALot I'm sorry!]]")
* CollaredByFashion: Wears a big poofy collar made of wool.
* CowardlyLion: She's easily frightened, but is still a powerful celestial spirit who is too loyal to actually back down from a fight.
* DCupDistress: Her bust attracts far too much attention than a ShrinkingViolet like her can handle.
* DudeMagnet: PlayedForLaughs. Her attractive appearance causes men to constantly leer at her, which she hates since she's a ShrinkingViolet.
* ExtremeDoormat: She has been put through unspeakable abuse by Karen before meeting Lucy, going through it all without saying a word.
* FightingYourFriend: Angel orders her to fight her friend Leo in the Nirvana arc. Due to their pride as celestial spirits, neither of them can refuse an order.
* FormFittingWardrobe: Her clothes highlight her curves rather well.
* GettingSmiliesPaintedOnYourSoul: Her Wool attacks cause anyone who gets hit by them to become calmer and more relaxed.
* HeadTurningBeauty: The men around her go wild every time she's summoned, to her [[ReluctantFanserviceGirl great embarrassment]].
* HornedHumanoid: She is part ram, though it's odd considering female sheep don't grow horns.
* ImpossibleHourglassFigure: She has this, much to her dismay.
* ImpossiblyLowNeckline: She does her best to keep it covered.
* LuminescentBlush: She's almost always visibly blushing due how she's a ShrinkingViolet who is constantly anxious or embarrassed.
* MinidressOfPower: Her outfit is very revealing.
* MundaneMadeAwesome: She uses Wool Magic which, given her opponents' reactions, seems to paralyze them with the sheer pleasure the softness that the wool produces.
* PinkMeansFeminine: Has pink hair, which matches the colour of her wool, and is a rather shy girl.
* ReluctantFanserviceGirl: She's a ShrinkingViolet who wears revealing clothes, which gives her a lot of unwanted male attention.
* RoseHairedSweetie: She's far from cheerful, but she's still sweet and docile as befitting her bright pink hair.
* ShipTease: She gets quite a bit with Leo, who would often come to her rescue whenever Karen abused her.
* ShrinkingViolet: She hates being the center of attention. Unfortunately for her, years of being abused by two horrible masters has made her scared of interacting with others.
* SweetSheep: Notably so. The Ram is traditionally characterized as an aggressive animal, but here Aries is an adorable, kind, docile young woman.

[[folder:Taurus]]

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/taurus.png]]

Taurus is a minotaur who possesses Herculean strength, but is also a total pervert who is constantly distracted by Lucy's hot body. He is the first of Lucy's Zodiac spirits who wasn't inherited from her mother.
----
* TheBigGuy: His main asset that he provides to his summoner is when the situation requires a physically mighty individual.
* BrutishCharacterBrutishWeapon: He's a physically oriented character with a rowdy personality that fights with a big axe.
* TheChewToy: Nearly every time he's summoned, he's quickly knocked flat on his face for laughs.
* ChivalrousPervert: His contract with Lucy essentially stipulates that as long as she stays hot, he'll gladly protect her sexy, sexy body. To that end, he summons himself to block an attack that Lucy couldn't have otherwise dealt with.
* CloseRangeCombatant: Fights with his massive axe in melee combat.
* DistractedByTheSexy: His biggest downfall half the time is when he stops mid-fight to admire Lucy's sexy body.
* HornedHumanoid: He's a giant cow man after all.
* LovableSexManiac: In his own words, he's not a pervert; he's "just a fan of pretty ladies" or "faithful to his lust."
* OurMinotaursAreDifferent: He is a minotaur, as is to be expected as a spirit of the bull zodiac sign.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: He's pretty damn strong and can clear a room full of ordinary humans with ease. Unfortunately for him, the majority of the opponents Lucy faces are anything but ordinary humans.
* SignatureMove: The anime gives him the ground-splitting "Fierce [[{{Pun}} Moove]]" attack.
* TookALevelInBadass: After the TimeSkip, when Lucy learns how to use [[CombinationAttack Combination Attacks]] between her spirits, making him more effective in combat.
%%* TooKinkyToTorture
* UnderwearOfPower: The only thing he wears is a pair of trunks.
* VerbalTic: He regularly inserts "moo"-related puns into practically everything he says.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: As mentioned, he never wears any clothes but an UnderwearOfPower.
* TheWorfEffect: He's Lucy's strongest spirit in terms of raw physical strength, so he tends to get clobbered/mind-controlled/seduced etc. to demonstrate that Lucy's current opponent will be a tough one.

'''Mini voiced by:''' Kanami Sato (Japanese), Creator/MichelleRojas (English) [[note]]'''Other languages''': Ximena Fragoso (Latin American Spanish) [[/note]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/SpiritGemini_4592.jpg]]

Gemini are a pair of spirits who can mimic the appearance, powers, and thoughts of anyone they see. They are Angel's signature spirits and follow her orders without question until Lucy proves to be a more caring master.
----
* CombatPragmatist: In the Nirvana arc, they [[ShowSomeLeg weaponize Lucy's sexy body]] to catch [[LovableSexManiac Taurus]] off guard.
* DittoFighter: They can not only copy others' appearances, but their magic as well. They even make their own copies of Lucy's Gatekeys to use her spirits against her.
* TheDividual: They have their own names, but they're summoned as a single spirit. And while they have a few physical differences, their personalities seem identical and they always act as a unit.
* EarlyBirdCameo: They appeared on chapter cover pages well before their first real appearance.
* TheGadfly: They like to mess with Lucy by taking her form and doing embarrassing things while looking like her.
* HeelFaceTurn: They're sadistic and cruel at first, but once they copy Lucy and feel [[ThePowerOfLove the love she has for all celestial spirits]], they're so deeply moved that they can't bring themselves to kill her. They later show up after Angel's defeat to help her stop Nirvana before formally making a contract.
* IdenticalTwinIDTag: The male Gemi is the one in black pants, while the female Mini is the one in orange.
* LoveRedeems: The love they feel from Lucy far outweighs the love they felt from Angel (i.e., none at all), ultimately turning them against their owner.
* MistreatmentInducedBetrayal: They abandoned Angel for Lucy due to the way she mistreated her celestial spirits, preferring to be with Lucy, who cherished them as friends
* NecessaryDrawback: They can only copy someone whose magic power is at the level of their summoner, meaning Lucy can't get Gemini to fight for her as monstrously powerful people like Erza or Laxus. When Lucy wears her Gemini Star Dress, however, she can effectively double Gemini's effectiveness.
* PowerPerversionPotential: Lucy is their most common transformation, and they never waste an opportunity to show off what a hot body she has, either [[ShowSomeLeg as a distraction]] or [[TheGadfly otherwise]].
* {{Telepathy}}: They can read the minds of anyone they copy, but forget once they lose that transformation.
* TenderTears: Lucy's unconditional love for her spirits moves Gemini to tears, which triggers their HeelFaceTurn.
* ThemeTwinNaming: Their separate names are Gemi and Mini, which spell "Gemini" when combined.
* TransformationRay: ''Manga/FairyTail100YearsQuest'' reveals they also have the ability to transform others, [[Characters/FairyTailAnimeSeries2 similar to their Eclipse Spirit forms]], though they have limits (they used their powers to transform Natsu and the gang into small fish, but by the time they got to Wendy they only had enough power left to turn her into a jellyfish instead).
* TricksterTwins: They're quite mischievous given their ability to copy others, which they use to confuse or lure their opponents into traps.
* VerbalTic: "Piri piri!"
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: They can copy up to two people at once. The only drawbacks to this are that they lose their oldest form for every new form they acquire, and they can't turn into anyone with a magic level higher than their owner's.
* WonderTwinPowers: They're two beings who join together to copy a single person.

[[quoteright:225:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/FT_Cancer_4021.jpg]]

Cancer is a cool hairstylist who wields scissors that can cut through virtually anything. He is one of Lucy's first spirits, inherited from her mother.
----
* AbsurdlySharpBlade: His scissors can cut ordinary weapons to pieces. In the anime, however, they become dented when he tries using them on Kain Hikaru's bristly hair.
* AnimeHair: Has black and orange hair done up like crab claws.
* CoolShades: Wear shades that go with his slick personality, and is never seen without them.
* DualWielding: Holds a pair of scissors in each hand in place of crab claws.
* HeartIsAnAwesomePower: A magic hairstylist doesn't seem like much use in a fight, but he comes in handy when fighting against or alongside users of hair magic like Flare.
* MundaneUtility: Lucy uses a Zodiac spirit to style her hair before (what she thinks is) a date.
* ShearMenace: He uses his scissors for fighting as well as hair styling.
* SpiderLimbs: Has six crab legs sticking out from his back. However, they're never used for anything.
* UtilityMagic: He's mainly summoned just to give characters an ImportantHaircut or a HairReboot.
* VerbalTic: Despite being a crab spirit, Cancer ends his sentences with ''ebi'', which means "shrimp". The Funimation dub changes this to "baby" to compliment his smooth persona.

[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ff1fd8c44767a4e970cee7ca43394132.png]]
[[caption-width-right:240:[[labelnote:Click here to see him as Loke]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/loke-ftanime_3454.png[[/labelnote]]]]

Leo is a playboy who is hardly ever seen outside the company of young ladies. Banished from the spirit world after accidentally causing the death of his past owner, Karen Lilica, Leo joins the Fairy Tail guild to spend his limited lifespan as a wizard named Loke. After Lucy overturns his sentence, he joins her as one of her most trusted spirit partners. In his spirit form, Loke wears the magic finger ring Regulus to clad his body in light.
----
* TheAce: Is the most impressive of Lucy's Celestial Spirits, being powerful, skilled, and rather charming and intelligent to boot.
* AnimalMotifs: Lions, being the sign of Leo and using attacks named after lions such as [[LightEmUp Regulus Impact and Lion Brilliance]]. Bonus points for [[ShapingYourAttacks taking the shape of lions]].
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: According to the anime, he's the leader of the Zodiac Spirits, which is fitting as he's the most powerful Celestial Spirit aside from the Celestial Spirit King.
* TheAtoner: He has spent three years anticipating his own eventual demise to compensate for indirectly causing the death of his former owner. After Lucy intervenes on his behalf, he decides to carry out his atonement by [[IOweYouMyLife protecting her with his life]].
* BadassInANiceSuit: He wears a snazzy suit in his spirit form.
* BroughtDownToBadass: Loke is nowhere near as powerful as his spirit form during his exile from the spirit world, relying entirely on magic rings to fight, but he's still a competent wizard with them.
* CatBoy: They're difficult to see, but his spirit form has pointed ears hidden in that AnimeHair.
* ChickMagnet: He's often seen with girls drooling over him.
* ChivalrousPervert: He always has his sights on young women whenever he has the chance, but he's a genuinely nice and heroic guy.
* CoolShades: He's almost always seen wearing sunglasses ever since his banishment.
* {{Determinator}}: He has survived for three years in the human world with his own strength. To add perspective, Lucy initially believes that even one year is out of the question, and just one week outside the Celestial Spirit World is considered torture for his fellow Zodiac spirit, Aries.
* DeathSeeker: Since prolonged exposure in the human world is the only way to kill a Celestial Spirit, Loke accepts his permanent exile from the spirit world in the hopes that death will put an end to his guilt. Lucy talks him out of it, though.
* TheExile: He was exiled from the Celestial Spirit World for inadvertently causing Karen's death by refusing to un-summon himself for three months, leaving her unable to summon a spirit to defend herself on a mission. Lucy vindicates Loke by pointing out that he was acting to protect Aries from their owner's abuse, since Karen wasn't strong enough to summon both at once.
* FantasticRacism: Subverted. He appears to be afraid of celestial wizards early on in the series, and starts avoiding Lucy when he learns that she is one. It later turns out that he is a spirit who suffers from the guilt of killing his owner, and has no trouble flirting with Lucy once she helps him overcome it.
* GoldColoredSuperiority: His magic has a prominent golden glow and he is Lucy's most powerful Spirit.
* HeroicBSOD: He falls into a ''major'' one when he gets banished from the Celestial Spirit world.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: Following Karen's death and his banishment from the Celestial Spirit world, Loke blames himself for everything that had happened.
* KingOfBeasts: He is the lion spirit and (in the anime) the leader of the Zodiac Spirits.
* KnightInShiningArmor: He describes himself as this to Lucy, pulling multiple BigDamnHeroes moments for her sake across the series.
* LightEmUp: His ring, Regulus, gives him the power of light magic.
* LightIsGood: Uses light magic, and is Lucy's most trusted spirit advisor.
* MeaningfulName: "Regulus" is the brightest star in the Leo constellation.
* MurderByInaction: This is how he views his role in Karen's demise. By summoning himself under his own power and refusing to do anything for her, [[UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom Karen was unable to defend herself on a job and was killed]].
* MyGreatestFailure: He inadvertently caused the death of his previous owner, Karen Lilica, which led to his exile from the spirit world. Being a total {{Jerkass}}, Karen's arrogance proved to be her FatalFlaw, while Leo was simply sticking up for himself and Aries.
* NotQuiteTheRightThing: While well-intentioned, [[UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom his decision to stay in the human world]] until Karen relinquishes her contracts with him and Aries results in her [[TooDumbToLive trying to go on a job with Leo unwilling to help her and her being unable to summon another spirit]], leading to her death, Leo being banished from the Spirit World, and Aries' key ending up in Angel's hands.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Loke is such a calm yet shameless flirt that when he suddenly tries driving his girlfriends away or raising his voice, his friends realize it's an indicator that he knows something is seriously wrong.
* ThePowerOfLove: He claims this to be the reason he can summon himself to help Lucy even when she doesn't call him.
* ThePromise: He made an off-screen promise with Gray that he'd be his partner for the S-Class promotion exam, and temporarily nullifies his contract with Lucy to fulfill this.
* PrettyBoy: He has a pretty and effeminate appearance that fits right in with Blue Pegasus, a renowned guild filled with Bishōnen guys. It's only fitting, considering he was owned by a Blue Pegasus wizard.
* RingOfPower: Regulus allows him to perform [[LightEmUp Light Magic]]. He also uses regular Ring Magic before becoming one of Lucy's spirits.
* ShipTease: He flirts quite constantly with Lucy once he overcomes his guilt over killing Karen. Also gets some with Aries due to their mutual history as Karen's spirits and his protective nature towards her.
* ShonenHair: His spirit form has longer, spikier hair resembling a lion's mane.
* SignificantAnagram: "Loke" is an anagram of "Leo" with the letter "K" added.
* YourDaysAreNumbered: Being cut off from the spirit world only gives him so much time to live before he runs out of power and disappears forever. Once he returns, however, he makes a full recovery.

[[quoteright:225:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/FT_Virgo_6992.jpg]]

Virgo is a masochistic maid who can burrow underground and manipulate earth, making her one of Lucy's top combat-ready spirits. Originally owned by Duke Everlue, she makes a new contract with Lucy after the duke is arrested.
----
* BrawnHilda: Under Everlue's ownership, her appearance can best be described as a shaved gorilla with pink twintails.
* ChainedByFashion: She wears chains around her wrists. It is supposed by her own design, because she is like this with both masters.
* CharacterCatchphrase: "Are you going to punish me?"
* TheComicallySerious: She maintains a stoic demeanor even in the most outlandish situations.
%%* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}:
* DishingOutDirt: She specializes in Earth Magic, specifically Diver, to burrow underground and manipulate earth.
* DisproportionateRetribution: She pretty much asks to be punished by Lucy over everything, even when she does something right.
* EmotionlessGirl: She never emotes and only asks her master what to do and if she should be punished.
* FanDisservice: Under Everlue's control, she wears an outfit that would be quite titillating if she wasn't a such a {{Gonk}}.
* AFormYouAreComfortableWith: She appears in whatever form she thinks will please her master most. In the case of Duke Everlue, it was a fat [[{{Gonk}} gorilla maid]]. In the case of Lucy, it's a more traditional {{Meido}}.
* {{Gonk}}: Under Duke Everlue, whose tastes she is under contract to emulate, she takes a form resembling a giant gorilla woman.
* GorgeousGarmentGeneration: She provides regal-looking clothes when clothing is necessary. Typically for her mistress, but for others as well. It's a maid thing, evidently.
* HeelFaceTurn: She was originally under the command of the unscrupulous Duke Everlue and had to obey his orders. Once he was imprisoned, that voided her contract and she sought to be under the command of Lucy.
* HouseFey: She works primarily as a maid for her contracted owners, but she is not bound to a house. Being a maid spirit, that would be where she could be found.
* {{Meido}}: She wears a maid outfit in most of her appearances.
* MsFanservice: She's already quite beautiful under Lucy even in her maid outfit, but then there's the scenes where she comes in wearing [[WalkingSwimsuitScene nothing but a bikini]] and showing off what a sexy body she has.
* NinjaMaid: She possess great magical prowess, which she uses skillfully in close unarmed combat. For bonus points, she used to be an actual bodyguard.
* ReflectionlessUselessEyes: Her eyes lack shine, highlighting her otherworldly nature as a spirit.
* RoseHairedSweetie: She's not at all cheery and sweet, but she's still polite and docile.
* ShipperOnDeck: She ships Natsu/Lucy to the point of borrowing Happy's catchphrase, "He liiiikes you" or "You liiike him," based on the situation. During the Nirvana arc, when she generated spirit clothes for the group, she gave them matching clothes.
* TooKinkyToTorture: She asks to be punished ''all the time''. The only time Lucy ever punishes her, she looks like she enjoys it.
* TunnelKing: A female example. Her main ability, Diver, allows Virgo to travel underground as simply as swimming in water. With this spell, Virgo can create holes to either trap someone or utilize as an escape method.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: She adapts her looks to her owner's taste, though not for much else.
* WalkingSwimsuitScene: Occasionally pops in wearing nothing but a bikini. When questioned on it at one point, she pretty much admits she does it [[{{Fanservice}} to spice things up a bit]].

* BareMidriffsAreFeminine: She's one of the female celestial spirits and wears a Middle Eastern belly dancer outfit that bares her midriff.
* CoolMask: Covers the lower half of her face with a veil.
* GravityMaster: By raising and lowering her balances, she can raise a person's gravity to immobilize them, or lower it to send them flying. She can also change a person's direction of gravity in the anime.
* MsFanservice: The guys go wild over her when she comes out in the anime.
* OutOfFocus: By virtue of being contracted to a supporting character, she and Pisces have much less screen time than the others.
* TheSilentBob: She hardly talks at all, and while she does have more lines in the anime, they're often very short or state the obvious.

Scorpio is a spirit with a tail-shaped cannon on his back that can shoot blasts of sand. He is also Aquarius' boyfriend. He is initially owned by Angel until he decides Lucy would make a much better master.
----
* AmbiguouslyBrown: He has dark-colored skin in the anime, making it hard to pin down what ethnicity he's supposed to be.
* BadassLongcoat: He switches his usual outfit for a trench coat for the Grand Magic Games after the TimeSkip, though it's dropped entirely later on, and totally AdaptedOut in the anime.
* {{BFG}}: His main weapon is a cannon shaped and positioned like a scorpion's tail that fires [[DishingOutDirt sand]].
* CollaredByFashion: Wears a flower-shaped collar that is red and trimmed with gold around his neck.
* DubNameChange: His Japanese name is actually just "Scorpion".
* ExoticEyeDesigns: The bottom of his eyes have triangular "cuts" that extend down his cheeks.
* FriendlyEnemy: Despite being owned by one of Lucy's cruelest enemies at first, he's pretty friendly with Lucy for being his girlfriend's owner, and leaves to take Aquarius out to dinner in the middle of their battle, even though this robs Lucy of her trump card and nearly gets her killed.
* GratuitousEnglish: His VerbalTic in Japanese is "We are! Yeah!"
* HeelFaceTurn: He's one of Angel's spirits, but ends up with Lucy after hearing good things about her.
* {{Hunk}}: He's a handsome and muscular guy, with Aquarius herself describing him as a "hunk".
* LongRangeFighter: Attacks at range with his [[SandBlaster Sand Magic]].
* OfficialCouple: He's Aquarius's often-mentioned boyfriend.
* PermaStubble: He has hair on the very tip of his chin, which is present across the anime after he loses it in the manga.
* SandBlaster: He shoots huge streams of sand out of his tail cannon.
* SickeninglySweethearts: He's the only one who can turn [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold his girlfriend]] into a pile of sappy mush.
* VerbalTic: He seems very fond of the phrase "We are!", which is changed to "Yee-hah!" in the English manga, and "Wicked!" in the anime dub.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: He wears no shirt except for the collar around his neck. The only time he wears a shirt is when he wears a [[BadassLongcoat trench coat]] in the manga.

Sagittarius is a master bowman in a horse costume who never misses his target. His key is given to Lucy by the natives of Galuna Island as a reward for helping them.
----
* ButtMonkey: He doesn't get it as bad as Taurus, but there's rarely a time when he gets summoned without getting taken out of commission or being generally useless.
* TheComicallySerious: The guy wears a ridiculous outfit and, in the English dub, says equally ridiculous phrases with a completely straight face.
* ExpressiveMask: The head part of his costume changes its expressions according to the situation.
* ImprobableAimingSkills: He can hit any target no matter what their size or how far away they are, even shooting a sniper's bullets in midair.
* LiteralMinded: When asked if he can produce fire for Natsu, he states that he cannot. Only later does he realize that the issue at hand was if "fire could be produced", and proceeds to blow up some nearby machinery with his arrows.
* OurCentaursAreDifferent: Before he's summoned for the first time, Gray pictures the half-man, half-horse spirit to look like a guy with a horse's head, while Lucy just laughs it off. Turns out Gray's speculation wasn't far off the mark.
* TheStraightAndArrowPath: There exist a multitude of firearms in the series, both magical and ordinary, but he sticks with his bow and arrow.
* VerbalTic: "Moshi, moshi!" (Hello, hello), which the Funimation dub changes to a multitude of weird-sounding greetings, goodbyes, and conjunctions. ("Yes sir-ee!" "See you later, alligator.")

[[quoteright:225:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/FT_Capricorn_6738.jpg]]

Capricorn is a goat-like man who looks and acts like a butler. He was meant to be inherited by Lucy from her mother along with Aquarius and Cancer, but due to certain complications with his interim owner Zoldio, his key doesn't come into Lucy's possession for 17 years.
----
* BadassInANiceSuit: Always wears a suit of some sort, and is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant.
* BattleButler: His fancy tailcoat and expert hand-to-hand combat abilities give something to this effect.
* BrutalHonesty: In the anime, he seems reluctant to say something to Lucy, but she tells him not to worry about being honest. [[YouAreFat He proceeds to bring up quite a few issues with her weight when he was carrying her in his arms]].
* CoolShades: He's never seen without his dark-colored shades, which fit with his BadassInANiceSuit aesthetic. As it turns out and revealed by Lucy's Star Dress form utilizing his powers, the shades actually [[NoEyeInMagic protect him from vision-based magics]].
* CulturedBadass: He can kick ass in a fight, but remains servile and refined at all times. He even has a fondness of poetry in the anime, reciting one of his self-written poems to Lucy.
* DeclarationOfProtection: He personally swore an oath to Layla that he would protect her daughter, Lucy. He finally manages to uphold that promise after 17 years of being possessed by someone who tried to kill her.
* TheDogBitesBack: He lays the deciding blow on Zoldio after he {{Body Surf}}s into Loke, who gave him his Regulus for this purpose. He also gets a hit in on Hades, Zoldio's master, during Fairy Tail's last assault in their battle.
* FaceHeelTurn: Subverted. He initially appears to be a rogue celestial spirit when he debuts among Grimoire Heart's Seven Kin of Purgatory, but it turns out he simply fell victim to a BodySnatcher.
* HornedHumanoid: As a goat man, he naturally has goat horns as well.
* MentorArchetype: Becomes one for Lucy after coming under her possession, helping her train for the Grand Magic Games, and learning more about her magic.
* NonIndicativeName: He is called the "[[DubNameChange Sea Goat]]" in the Funimation dub as his Zodiac sign is often affiliated with, yet his powers have nothing to do with water.
* TheStoic: He always remains calm and composed, [[NotSoStoic except]] when possessed by Zoldio as a member of Grimoire Heart.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Layla Heartfilia, and then to her daughter Lucy. In fact, when Leo asks him if he will give his loyalty to Lucy, he says he can't because it already belongs to her.
* VerbalTic: He uses the [[UsefulNotes/JapanesePronouns Japanese pronoun]] "Meh", which is also the sound of a goat's bleating. This is changed to him uttering the word "Bah!" in Kodansha's manga, while the anime dub occasionally has him make bleating noises while using words such as "baaah-ttle".

[[folder:Aquarius]]
!!Aquarius the Water Bearer

[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4fe70129e9f3e1e0d82cbef511c41c0c.png]]

Aquarius is a mermaid who carries an urn filled with a limitless supply of water. She is one of the spirits Lucy inherited from her mother Layla, but hates her new owner's guts and often attacks her instead of her intended targets. Whenever Aquarius shows up, someone's usually bound to get hurt badly.
----
* AdaptationalNiceGirl: Aquarius is still a major JerkWithAHeartOfGold in the anime, but she gets a few more PetTheDog moments towards Lucy, especially in the Eclipse Celestial Spirit arc, which tones down her harsh attitude significantly.
* AggressiveSubmissive: She has an aggressive, domineering, and harsh attitude towards most people, but acts like a submissive and sickeningly sweet girlfriend when around Scorpio.
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: She is Lucy's very first spirit, but has no problem mocking, berating, and attacking her owner. But then comes her HeroicSacrifice in the Tartaros arc, and it's clear that both are deeply pained over potentially never seeing each other again.
* BareMidriffsAreFeminine: Just wears a bikini top on her torso, leaving her stomach exposed.
* BeatTheCurseOutOfHer: [[spoiler: Her strategy to return yokai-Lucy back to normal, as she slaps her repeatedly across the face. Eventually, after one sound spank to Lucy's behind (combined with Aquarius forcibly jogging Lucy's memories), the transformation is fully reversed.]]
* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler:Her sudden appearance in Elentir ends up saving the team, as she's able to turn Lucy, Happy, Carla, and Wendy back into human after they were turned into yokai.]]
* TheBusCameBack: By sacrificing Aquarius's key to summon the Celestial Spirit King, she completely severs her connection to the human world. A new key eventually forms somewhere in Earth-land one year later, allowing her to return briefly in the Alvarez Empire arc before going away again. By the time of ''Manga/FairyTail100YearsQuest'', Lucy vows to find her key and reunite with her for good. [[spoiler: She shows up again when she appears in Elentir (due to nature of the world not requiring keys to summon Spirits) to help Natsu deal with a [[FaceMonsterTurn transformed and brainwashed Lucy]].]]
* BuxomBeautyStandard: Her sizable chest is often under MaleGaze shots when she's featured. When Lucy summons her against Fried, he considers her a "bikini babe" on the same level as Lucy and Cana.
* CerebusRetcon: When she was first introduced, she was just a gag character whose gimmick of disobeying and [[UnfriendlyFire attacking Lucy]] was PlayedForLaughs. Later, their relationship is recontextualized as one of VitriolicBestBuds with Aquarius having a tragic backstory with Lucy's mother and being portrayed more as a JerkWithAHeartOfGold rather than just a jerk.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: At first, she was just a mean-spirited gag character, with her abuse and disobedience of Lucy meant to reinforce Lucy's ButtMonkey status. She was also primarily angry due to Lucy interrupting her dates with Scorpio, and seemed very obsessed with him. Later arcs portray her relationship with Lucy in a VitriolicBestBuds light and make the two seem much closer, while Aquarius's relationship and obsession with Scorpio are barely ever mentioned.
* CrushBlush: She tends to blush like a schoolgirl when Scorpio's around or is mentioned.
* CurbStompBattle: [[spoiler: While she does manage to counter her initial attack, yokai-Lucy proves to be little match for Aquarius, who proceeds to smack her senseless, before using her magic to remind Lucy of the memories she suppressed.]]
* DefrostingIceQueen: She doesn't enjoy being Lucy's spirit as she finds her an InadequateInheritor compared to her previous master, Lucy's mother. As Lucy grows as a mage, she starts to respect her more and they bond when fighting more serious battles. Her final appearances have her acting motherly towards Lucy as a result.
* DisproportionateRetribution: She subjects Lucy to physical punishment for something as small as summoning her in a puddle.
* DoesNotLikeMen: Inverted. She doesn't like being around women (with a few exceptions), and would much rather spend her time with her boyfriend.
* ElementalBaggage: PlayedWith. Lucy can't summon her without an existing body of water, no matter how big or small it is, but Aquarius can generate as much water as she needs once summoned from her urn, though she also controls existing water.
* ElementalEyeColors: She has deep blue eyes, fitting her being a mermaid spirit who controls an urn that releases water.
* ElementalHairColors: Aquarius has light blue hair and her power is to release water from her urn. She also counts for ElementalEyeColors because her eyes are also blue.
* TheFakeCutie: She admits to Lucy that she pretends to be sweet and innocent around Scorpio. Lucy sees her as she truly is.
* FirstFriend: Lucy values her so much because she considers her the first friend she ever had, and would summon her as a child just so she could play with her, something Aquarius [[FrivolousSummoning detested]] but [[PetTheDog pitied her for]]. This dynamic became the basis of their VitriolicBestBuds relationship.
* {{Flight}}: She's a mermaid, but one who can move outside the water just fine since she can naturally levitate above the ground.
* FreudianExcuse: Her attitude towards Lucy is largely because she would frequently summon her because she didn't have any friends in the past, and always viewed her as a crybaby even long after she grew out of it.
* FrivolousSummoning: Aquarius is often annoyed at Lucy summoning her for frivolous things, such as fights that are beneath her or simple tasks (like replacing a water fountain). This is mostly because when Lucy was little, she would often summon Aquarius just to have a playmate. While Aquarius tried to be patient at first out of respect for Lucy's mother, that patience has long worn off, and she holds a grudge now that Lucy is all grown.
* HairTriggerTemper: Aquarius goes from calm to extremely angry with minimal provocation and usually deals with it by using her water powers in her immediate area.
* HeroicBSOD: She has a major one when Layla sacrifices her life to open Eclipse. Although she keeps going, it becomes clear from this point forward that she has never gotten over what happened to Layla.
* HeroicSacrifice: In the Tartaros arc, she convinces Lucy to summon the Celestial King by destroying her key. Although this doesn't kill Aquarius, she and Lucy are completely cut off from each other. She returns one year later in the Alvarez Empire arc when her key is restored, but her old contract with Lucy has been voided and she isn't allowed to tell Lucy where her key is, meaning Lucy has to find it before they are permanently reunited.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: Right before Lucy sacrifices her key, Aquarius tells her she'd be relieved if they never saw each other again, all while trying and failing to deny how heartbroken she actually is.
* HumanizingTears: When Lucy destroys her key to summon the celestial king, Aquarius actually cries in grief, knowing she may never see Lucy again.
* InconvenientSummons: One of the reasons Aquarius is often mad at Lucy is because she keeps summoning her while she's on dates with Scorpio.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Although she can be an ill-tempered bitch, her actions in the Alvarez Empire arc show that she truly loves Lucy just like the other spirits.
* LoopholeAbuse: [[spoiler: Because Celestial Spirits can manifest in Elentir without the need for keys, Aquarius is able to come to a [[ForcedTransformation transformed Lucy's]] rescue, and turn her back to normal, before expressing her desire to remain to help them, despite technically not being contracted to Lucy.]]
* MakingASplash: The urn she carries contains a bottomless supply of water, which can unleash tidal waves, whirlpools, and other aquatic hazards on her enemies, often washing Lucy away with it.
* OddFriendship: With Juvia, a fellow water magic user, whom she hits it off very well with during Fairy Tail's stay in the Celestial Spirit World.
* OfficialCouple: Scorpio is her boyfriend.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: She'll usually abandon Lucy at the quickest opportunity, but during the Tartaros arc, when Lucy's life is in clear danger without any of her guildmates to help her, the worst she does to Lucy is [[AngerBornOfWorry call her an idiot]] for overexerting her magic power to summon her, and she is fiercely protective of her against her opponents.
* OurMermaidsAreDifferent: She's a celestial spirit that takes the form of a mermaid, but she rarely appears submerged in water and always floats in midair.
* PerpetualFrowner: She's almost always frowning and glaring at Lucy with disdain. She rarely smiles, unless Scorpio is around.
* PetTheDog: Despite being a candidate for biggest JerkWithAHeartOfGold in the series, she has her moments:
** She is among the rest of Lucy's spirits who agree with her that Leo shouldn't sacrifice his life for a reason they believe not to be right.
** She's annoyed that [[FrivolousSummoning Lucy summoned her to replace a fountain]] for Asca's sake, but likes Asca enough that she contains her anger.
** The anime gives her even more PetTheDog moments: in the Edolas arc, she cries out for Lucy's safety as Hughes attacks her; she looks after Lucy when she exhausts herself to summon all of her spirits at once to do favors for them; and at the end of the Eclipse Celestial Spirit arc, she feels ashamed that she can't remember the grief she caused Lucy in her Eclipse form.
* ReflectionlessUselessEyes: Her eyes lack any shine, emphasizing she's a spirit.
* RunningGag: She often abandons Lucy to go on dates with her boyfriend and likes to remind Lucy that she's single.
* SickeninglySweethearts: She becomes a gushingly affectionate sweetie with Scorpio, completely clashing with her usual angry JerkWithAHeartOfGold persona.
* SignatureMon: She's Lucy's first Celestial Spirit, and the one she has the strongest bond with, even if said bond is one of VitriolicBestBuds. Outside of maybe Loki, Aquarius is also her strongest Celestial Spirit and the one that's often used in climatic battles. Sacrificing Aquarius' key was so traumatic for Lucy that finding it again became her goal in ''Manga/FairyTail100YearsQuest''.
* SlutShaming: She sometimes mocks and admonishes Lucy and her friends for being "slutty" due to them wearing {{Stripperiffic}} clothing or getting into fanservice situations ([[HypocriticalHumor despite the fact that her own attire]] is [[WalkingSwimsuitScene just a bikini top]]).
* SpannerInTheWorks: [[spoiler: Her sudden appearance in Elentir, and her managing to help turn the yokai transformed Lucy and Wendy back to normal, puts an abrupt end to Selene's plan to force Natsu and Gray to fight them for her amusement.]]
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: She often dislikes being summoned by Lucy, and if she doesn't bail, she only works for Lucy reluctantly, often ending up [[UnfriendlyFire "accidentally" targeting Lucy while attacking whoever Lucy is fighting]].
* TokenEvilTeammate: Well, more mean than actually evil. Aquarius is the only one of Lucy's spirits who harbors any animosity towards her under the same contract, and even willingly attacks her.
* {{Tsundere}}: Harsh type. While she's jerkish towards everyone, ''especially'' Lucy, but shows a sickeningly sweeter side around her boyfriend, Scorpio. Later, right before Lucy breaks her key, Aquarius claims she always hated Lucy for being such a naive, crybaby little brat, but admits to herself that never being able to see her again makes her feel sad.
* UndyingLoyalty: To the late Layla Heartfilia. The main reason she's always upset with Lucy is because she is stuck in a HeroicBSOD over Layla's death and felt her daughter [[InadequateInheritor could never hold a candle to her]].
* UnfriendlyFire: PlayedForLaughs. Not just because she's a JerkWithAHeartOfGold around Lucy; her power is inherently just so destructive that it washes Lucy away with her enemies as well, though according to Aquarius, it's the other way around.
* VitriolicBestBuds: She constantly acts like a jerk towards Lucy, insulting her, bailing on her, and [[UnfriendlyFire even attacking her at times]]. Yet deep down she cares about Lucy just like all the other spirits, being protective of Lucy during serious situations and even acting motherly when they have tender moments. When Aquarius key is destroyed, they have a tearful goodbye, and it becomes Lucy's GoalInLife to find her key again in ''Manga/FairyTail100YearsQuest''.
* WalkingSwimsuitScene: A bikini top is the only article of clothing she ever wears since as a mermaid she doesn't need to wear any bottoms.
* WaterIsBlue: She has a blue ColorMotif and is a spirit with a water theme.
* WaterIsWomanly: The Celestial Spirit Aquarius, a constellation traditionally depicted as male, is here a beautiful mermaid with flowing blue hair who wields an urn of limitless water. However, instead of being calm and nurturing, she's abrasive and unfriendly.
* WhipOfDominance: She sometimes appears with a whip while threatening to punish Lucy for something, fitting with her harsh and temperamental personality. It's implied she also used it on Brandish when they were together.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: Despite being one of Lucy's trusted spirit companions, Aquarius treats her badly and often resents being summoned at all. In fact, not only does she have no trouble attacking Lucy, but she even abandons her for a date with Scorpio at times when she's most needed.
* WomanScorned: In the anime, she and Scorpio begin having relationship issues after she catches him going out with other female spirits behind her back.

Pisces are a pair of giant fish who attack their target in tandem. Their true forms are those of a humanoid mother and child. They are one of Yukino's signature spirits.
----
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: In their normal form, they're giant koi fish who could easily swallow a person whole at full size.
* BadassFamily: They consist of an ActionMom and her equally skilled MommasBoy.
* BoringButPractical: In their titanic fish forms, their basic strategy is to just body-slam their target and use the physics of their size and weight to do damage.
* ClippedWingAngel: Yukino only calls them in their human form whenever she needs to "eliminate" someone. The one time she uses them for this purpose in battle, they're rendered virtually useless when their opponent floods the room with water.
* CombinationAttack: The anime gives them an attack that fires a concentrated stream of water when they combine their powers.
* TheDividual: Similar to Gemini, both fish are summoned togehter as a single spirit.
* KickChick: The mother is able to kick with water.
* LegendaryCarp: They typically take the form of giant koi fish, and they can magically shapeshift into human form for even greater power.
* MakingASplash: In an inverse situation from Aquarius, Pisces's human forms can create and manipulate water without the need of an external source to be summoned in the first place. However, if they become completely submerged in an external water source they forcibly revert to a powerless fish form compared to Aquarius being at her most dangerous in a fully-aquatic environment.
* MommasBoy: The son is fiercely loyal to his "Mama". He also calls Yukino his "Mama", much to his real mother's amusement.
* NavelDeepNeckline: The mother's human outfit has a huge gap under the neck that shows almost her entire torso.
* OutOfFocus: By virtue of being contracted to a supporting character, they and Libra have much less screen time than the others.
* PowerAtAPrice: Their humanoid forms are much stronger than their titanic fish forms, but should they become submerged in water in this state they will forcibly revert to tiny versions of their fish forms which are all but helpless.
* ProngsOfPoseidon: The son carries a trident shaped like the Pisces zodiac symbol in the manga, though it's changed to a kind of dull-bladed spear in the anime.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: The son wears no shirt in his human form.
* WeaksauceWeakness: Ironically for fish spirits, they're at their weakest when submerged in an external source of water, which causes them to forcibly revert to a powerless small fish form.

Ophiuchus is a massive, snake-like spirit who is regarded as the thirteenth Zodiac spirit, more powerful than the other twelve. It is owned by Yukino as her ultimate spirit.
----
* ThirteenIsUnlucky: This trope is outright stated by Yukino when she summons it to fight Kagura.
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: It's a serpent large enough to fit inside the already massive Doms Frau arena.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Despite being Yukino's strongest spirit, it is never seen again after the Grand Magic games arc in the manga, although its Eclipse form shows up in the anime-original Eclipse Celestial Spirits arc. There is a hint that it is dangerous to use, as its key is black and ominous.
* InformedAbility: It's rumored as the most powerful Zodiac spirit, and is only summoned by Yukino as a last resort, yet Kagura takes it down with a single SheathStrike before it can do the rumors justice.
* NonIndicativeName: Gray lampshades that the "Serpent Bearer" spirit is an actual serpent.
* OneExtraMember: The thirteenth of the twelve Zodiac spirits.
* OutOfFocus: The most of any spirit as it only appears once in the manga before disappearing completely.
* ReptilesAreAbhorrent: It takes the form of a giant snake, and is the most monstrous of all the spirits.
* TheWorfEffect: Ophiuchus is quickly offed in a display of extreme power from Kagura simply to drive the point home that Saber Tooth isn't the only new guild Fairy Tail has to overcome during the Grand Magic Games.

* DubNameChange: The species is called "Nicola" in the dub.
* MeaningfulName: William Flanagan, the translator for the English manga releases, believed "Nikora" to be a reference to 18th century astronomer Nicolas Louis de Lacaille, who discovered and named 14 different constellations (ironically, Canis Minor was not one of them).

!!Horologium the Time Piece
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MasakiKawanabe (Japanese), Ben Bryant (English) [[note]]'''Other languages''': Ilitch Pichardo (Latin American Spanish); Stéphane Ronchewski (French)[[/note]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/300px-Horologium_Avatar_6947.png]]

Horologium is a talking grandfather clock who Lucy tends to summon to use as shelter from hazardous environments.
----
* AnimateInanimateObject: He is literally a grandfather clock with arms, feet, and a face.
* BigDamnHeroes: Horologium wears this trope like a hat. He saves Lucy from the collapsing Nirvana and being sucked through the Anima above Magnolia, Wendy from being vaporized by Hades, Arcadios from sinking into a pool of lava, and Natsu, Lucy and Happy from being trapped in another dimension by the Spriggan 12's Jacob.
* CharacterCatchphrase: "(Text) is what he/she" said.
* ChekhovsGunman: He's introduced as a convenient way of getting around, he becomes very handy in saving his master and her friends' lives throughout the series.
* NighInvulnerable: Moreso than other spirits, since he is specifically a defensive spirit that can hide others inside of his body. He has been shown to protect people from inter-dimensional magic, falling rocks, a OneHitKO spell, lava, and [[MundaneUtility cold weather]].
* VoiceForTheVoiceless: Since the inside of his body is a SoundProofBooth, he is required to repeat whatever people inside him are saying to everyone else. He even goes so far as to convey their moods in the English dub.
* WardrobeMalfunction: Horologium can perform an emergency intercept that instantaneously transports those in catastrophic danger away from harm and secures them inside his body. However, in order to ensure immediate retrieval, it only snags the lifeform by the body, which causes all their clothes to be left behind. This has led to some rather embarrassing naked rescues.

!!Lyra the Harp
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MegumiNakajima (Japanese), Kristin Sutton (English) [[note]]'''Other languages''': Ivette Torres (Latin American Spanish); Creator/CarolineCombes (French)[[/note]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/300px-FT_Lyra_9464.png]]

Lyra is a spirit who is typically summoned for her soothing singing voice.
----
* BlushSticker: Her cheeks always have round pink blush marks.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Vanishes from the manga after the Grand Magic Games arc, although she gets a few cameos in the anime-original Eclipse Celestial Spirits arc.
* TheEmpath: Her songs reflect what those around her feel at the given moment.
* GenkiGirl: She is a very happy and energetic spirit.
* HarpOfFemininity: She is named after the celestial harp.
%%* MagicIdolSinger: She is this by trade.
* MsExposition: She explains the effects of Moon Drip when Fairy Tail is on Galuna Island, which is about the only plot-relevant thing she does.
* OutOfFocus: Like most Silver key spirits. She only comes out when Lucy wants music which isn't that frequent.

[[folder:Crux]]
!!Crux the Southern Cross
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Masafumi Kimura (Japanese), Bill Flynn (English) [[note]]'''Other languages''': Juan Carlos Murua (Latin American Spanish); Thierry Bourdon (French)[[/note]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/300px-Crux1_7862.png]]

Crux is an old spirit with a cross-shaped head. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of celestial spirits and their owners, which he obtains whenever he's asleep.
----
* AccentAdaptation: He has a Southern accent in the English dub. Fitting for the ''Southern'' Cross spirit.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Vanishes from the manga after the Grand Magic games arc, although he plays a minor role in the anime-original Eclipse Celestial Spirits arc.
* CoolOldGuy: He's always helpful to Lucy.
* EyesAlwaysShut: Unless he screams.
* JumpScare: InUniverse; anyone besides Lucy gets scared silly whenever he screams.
* MrExposition: Lucy always turns to him whenever she needs info on the history of celestial magic.
* NewPowersAsThePlotDemands: He's able to relay his findings on Eclipse through Lucy's mind from the Celestial Spirit World in the Grand Magic Games arc. However, he's never seen doing this beforehand, and only makes it seem like Lucy's under a trance.
* OutOfFocus: Like most Silver key spirits, except when exposition is called for.
* TheScream: When he finds what he's looking for, he awakens with a startling scream.
* SeniorSleepCycle: Only Lucy can tell when he's looking for information or is actually asleep.
* SnotBubble: It appears as an indicator that he's actually asleep, not searching for info.

[[folder:Caelum]]
!!Caelum the Chisel
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/300px-Caelum_A_7024.jpg]]

Caelum is a mechanical orb that is used as a weapon. It is one of Angel's contracted spirits.
----
* EnergyWeapon: In its cannon form, Caelum can launch powerful blasts of energy that pierce right through Loke and Aries.
* HeelFaceTurn: In the anime, Caelum deliberately misses Lucy when Angel tries shooting her during her second wind.
* LivingWeapon: It acts primarily as a weapon, but it has a mind of its own like any other spirit, to the point it refuses to kill Lucy with its last attack and deliberately misses Angel's shot.
-->'''Angel''': It missed...? Traitor!
* MorphWeapon: It can alternate between a [[{{BFS}} chisel-shaped blade weapon]] and a [[{{BFG}} high-tech energy cannon]].

[[folder:Pyxis]]
!!Pyxis the Compass
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Mary Morgan (English)
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/300px-Pyxis_Anime_8884.png]]

Pyxis is a bird with a compass on its head, which is useful for navigating complex areas.
----
* TheBusCameBack: Pyxis makes a surprise return in ''Manga/FairyTail100YearsQuest'' during the Labyrinth Arc, where Lucy intends to use it to pinpoint the locations of [[spoiler:the Dogra Cores]]. Unfortunately for them both, [[spoiler:Selene]] plainly tells them [[YankTheDogsChain she already knows where they are]] ''and'' can [[SpaceMaster drop them practically right next to them]], causing ''both'' master and spirit to go into the CornerOfWoe.
* CornerOfWoe: This happens as a result of being told that it's not needed.
* FunnyAnimal: It's more of a humanoid bird than an actual bird in appearance, complete with FeatherFingers.
* ThrowTheDogABone: The anime thoroughly expands the Sky Labyrinth challenge by adding an area that screws with Erza's compass, giving Pyxis the chance to show why it's more useful than any ordinary compass with its superior sense of direction.
* WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway: In the manga, Pyxis is really no more useful than a regular compass, especially if someone in need of a compass already has one. However, the anime lets it demonstrate that HeartIsAnAwesomePower, showing that it can tell any direction when a regular compass faces magnetic interference.
