Characters of ''VideoGame/{{DragonFable}}''. Here be spoilers.

[[folder: Main Characters]]

!!The Hero of ''[=DragonFable=]''
The player character.
* TheAce: S/he has vanquished every monster that has threatened Lore, and trained in almost every class available, all with their unique skill-sets.
* ActionGirl: If female.
* AmazingTechnicolourPopulation: Can have pretty much any skin colour. [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair The same goes for hair]].
* ApologeticAttacker: Apologizes to [[spoiler:Tomix, when the Hero is forced to fight him after he gets [[DemonicPossession possessed]] by Envy.]]
* {{Badass}}: S/he has taken down some of the most powerful, fearsome monsters in the game, some of which are well beyond human limits, but are [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu still defeated by the Hero]].
* BadassAdorable: In the "Yulgar's First Date" quest, which involves time travel, there is a kid version of the Hero who continues fighting monsters using a stick.
* BadassBoast: Has quite a few of these, usually delivered to antagonists or villains.[[note]]
** In "The Black Dragon Box"
--> '''Drakath:''' Impossible! You got lucky this time !\\
'''The Hero:''' Luck had nothing to do with it, and the name is . Remember it!
** During the Mogloween 2013 quest, "Forest Hunt", while conversing with Symone about Valtrith.
--> '''Symone:''' Do you really think these weak scouts are his true force? He's already built a castle in the Doomwood. He's building an army as we speak. Soon, he'll have enough minions to overrun anything in his path to power.\\
'''The Hero:''' I stand in the path.\\
'''Symone:''' And what's stopping him from knocking you over?\\
'''The Hero:''' If he does, I'll get back up.
** During, "Facing Z" after defeating Magus Z.
-->'''The Hero:''' That's right, Run away and lick your wounds. You tell the Rose we mean business. This is about more than just magic. This is about LIFE. And we will be victorious.
* BadWithTheBone: If s/he has a Doom Weapon.
* BarrierWarrior: If the Hero is a mage, one of the abilities is casting the arcane shield.
* BattleCry: The Warrior class has this as one of the attacks.
* BlueEyes: After the game gets a design makeover, the Hero will always have blue eyes, regardless of their other color aspects.
* CallingYourAttacks: In some of class skills available, the Hero shouts....
* TheChosenOne: An ancient prophecy dictates the Hero was become a Dragonlord, and raise a legendary dragon from one of two boxes which would either save the world or destroy it.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Quite a few instances where the Hero cannot resist doing acts of heroism, even against his/her better judgement.
** While disguised as Edd and infiltrating the Rose, the Hero unhesitantly helps Sam after he gets bullied by Vince.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}
* CipherScything: Dragonfable and ''VideoGame/AdventureQuestWorlds'' are {{Alternate Universe}}s of Lore, but [=AdventureQuest=] World's past is essentially Dragonfable's Book 1. [=AdventureQuest Worlds=] actually has its own equivalent to the Dragonfable Hero. But the Hero's AlternateSelf has a ''much'' smaller role, and said AlternateSelf makes a brief cameo as a generic male Dragonlord, completely covered in armor.
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: When teaming up with some of the weirder characters, such as Artix, where the Hero is often forced to restrain them and slap some sense into them.
* {{Curse}}: In Book 3, The Baron starts inflicting him/her with a series of curses for each war s/he loses, making his/her life permanently harder.
* CutenessProximity: The Hero is very susceptible to things that are cute, finding the Doomkitten, the baby dragon, Spots the Two-Headed puppy, and Zorbak's baby dracoliches to be adorable.
* DeadpanSnarker: Can be very sarcastic when put alongside the more weirder characters.
* {{Determinator}}: In the ''Donovan'' quest, best put in his/her own words about the ordeals s/he has to go through most often than not:
-->'''The Hero:''' I've chased you through falling rubble, fought prisoners that looted the remains of your cell...
-->'''The Hero:''' Dug through the ruins of a town in order to find clues about you, and been buried alive by an avalanche...
-->'''The Hero:''' ...That inexplicably started as soon as I mentioned that someone besides you might be responsible for Bask.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: Some of the Boss/Titan fights against the more powerful opponents qualify.
** The final battle with Akriloth, while he possesses the Fire Orb. He's so powerful that the Hero must hold a LegendaryWeapon to defeat him.
** An almost literal example when The Hero fights "dream" Kathool, a CaptainErsatz of {{Cthulhu}}.
** In the Book 1 finale, The Hero and his/her dragon [[spoiler:destroy a dragon made of pure darkness that ''ate the sun'']].
** Another example in the Book 2 finale, when the Hero take down on Titan Wargoth.
* DragonRider: An option for Dragon-Lords.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: At the conclusion of Book 1, The Hero comes to be renowned worldwide for his/her deeds. But in Book 3, the current Headmaster of the Soulweaver academy has never even heard of you and makes you and Tomix perform grunt work like cleaning laundry.
* EnemyMine: S/he forced to do this several times over the course of the game.
** In Book 1, [[spoiler:s/he and Artix take down Noxus thanks to Vayle's help. Later in the finale, s/he teams up with Sepulchure to take Drakath down, as he has fused with Fluffy and is in control of the Ultimate Orb.]]
** In Book 2, [[spoiler:he or she agrees to work with Konnan (who's apparently trying to atone for his sins) and Xan (who's very much pissed off by... everything actually) against Wargoth, Destroyer of Worlds.]]
** In Book 3, [[spoiler:s/he works alongside Magus Hansa, from The Rose, to defeat Sek-Duat once and for all. It happens once again in Amityvale, when he works alongside Raven and Magus Neron (and ''even Safiria''!) to find a cure for lycanthropy. In the Tomix saga, the Hero and Tomix team up with Vaal in order to travel to Ynnugaap (the Deep Void) to stop Envy.]]
* FailureKnight: No matter how heroic their deeds are, someone (Konnan, Alz'ein, Jaania) will blame them for something they failed to accomplish because it's outside of their control. And it's still not including things they personally take as MyGreatestFailure people don't blame them of ([[spoiler:destruction of the Guardian Tower, Lady Celestia's death, the Ultimate Orb's destruction and Fiamme's subsequent possession by Wargoth, leaving the world at mercy of the Rose]]). You might start to think the hero as a SadClown at the more humorous moments.
* FighterMageThief: The three starting classes.
* GenreSavvy: S/he knows what to expect in a {{Troperiffic}} FantasyKitchenSink game.
* HelloInsertNameHere: In the transcripts it is replaced with "".
* TheHero: The player's very purpose in this game.
* HopeBringer: After progressing deep into the game where the Hero has acquired quite a reputation, s/he brings hope just by being present somewhere.
** In the Energy Orb Saga, Sepulchre states that people were huddling in fear from the darkness, and the Hero was one of the few candles of hope remaining.
** Tomix admits that the Hero is this to him as he has fond memories of their time in Ravenloss Saga Book 1.
-->'''Tomix''': ... Instead my life is a chain of unfortunate events.\\
'''Character''': Surely there must have been at least one good event.\\
'''Tomix''': ''Pause.'' You.\\
'''Character''': Me?\\
'''Tomix''': Yeah. After we met, during my hunt for Greed, I was always looking forward to your arrival in Ravenloss. I've really enjoyed adventures with you. It was good having someone else to watch your back.
** He tells the Hero this again during the Tomix Saga finale, when he gives his [[spoiler:FinalSpeech]].
--> '''Tomix:''' Keep on helping people, just like you have helped me thousands of times. You are an inspiration. A true hero.
** During the "Sulen'Eska" questchain, Sam tells the Hero (while disguised as Edd), he brought a positive atmosphere to Espina Rosa, and made helped to lighten up some of the mean, bitter characters like Sofist and Vince. S/he also became someone for Sam to look up to, and gave him hope which he did not have when he first joined the Rose.
* HumanPopsicle: [[spoiler:The Hero's fate at the end of Book 2, getting frozen away at Jaania's hands. At the beginning of Book 3, after many years, The Hero's icy prison finally shatters.]]
* IdeaBulb: The Hero gets a candle in place of the lightbulb.
* IdiotHero: S/he is either this or the OnlySaneMan, [[IdiotBall depending on what the plot calls for]].
* IncorruptiblePurePureness: Sort of. The Hero is given many chances to join the villains in their quest for power, but the "evil choice" provides a NonStandardGameOver WhatIf scenario that isn't canon to the main plot, so the "good choice" is what the hero always chooses.
** The Hero comes very close to turning to the dark side when under the influence of [[TheCorrupter Kathool Atchoo]], but manages to prevail with some help from Aquella, Diawe, and Caran.
* KarmaMeter: Averted. Unlike ''VideoGame/AdventureQuest'', which ''does'' have a KarmaMeter, and ''VideoGame/AdventureQuestWorlds'', where you can pick between "Good" and "Evil" factions, the Hero of Dragonfable is specifically Good, or at the very least Neutral.
** In one quest, you can even pick between Good, Evil, and Neutral. If you pick Evil, it turns out that your character was actually under DemonicPossession by the AnthropomorphicPersonification of the resentment of all the creatures (s)he ever defeated, trying to smear his/her reputation.
** This is specifically brought up in "Interview", where the Hero gets interviewed by Sir Stephen during a show about interviewing evil villains. He asks the Hero a series of questions to determine whether they are "good", "evil", or "neutral". Depending on how the player answers, the outcome will be determined, where one of three scenarios will play. If the Hero is good, they will launch into a heroic speech showing s/he has ChronicHeroSyndrome. If the Hero is neutral it's revealed s/he is OnlyInItForTheMoney. If the Hero gets the evil outcome, it's revealed they were actually [[DemonicPossession possessed by an evil spirit]] who is the [[AllYourPowersCombined collected hatred of all the Hero's enemies combined]].
* LatexPerfection: When infiltrating a Rose fortress, the Hero impersonates Edd, one of the Rose's soldiers, using a non-magical mask created by a face nomb plant. Aside from paler skin, your character is able to disguise as him perfectly, even if your character is a girl.
* LegendaryInTheSequel: Early on in the series, the Hero discovers that in the future (''VideoGame/AdventureQuest''), s/he has become a renowned Dragonlord.
* LoserProtagonist: On occasion, especially in the ScoobyDoo quest in Amityvale where s/he takes the place of Shaggy in the Mystery Inc. Gang.
* TheMentor: To Sir Ano in his quest chain.
* MentalFusion: Dragonlords have the natural ability to telepathically communicate with their dragons. The Hero learns to do this in Book 3 after his/her bond with their Dragon becomes strong enough.
* MentalTimeTravel: In the "Yulgar's First Date", the Hero travels using a piece of [[OurTimeTravelIsDifferent time cake]], and ends up in the body of his/her child self 20 years ago.
* MetaGuy
* MuggedForDisguise: When the Hero gets thrown into jail at the gate between Swordhaven and Falconreach, s/he comes across a sleeping guard and one of the options is to strip his uniform and use it as a disguise to escape.
* NiceGuy: The Hero is generally very kind to others, excluding villains.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Does this quite often. So far, the Hero has managed to:
** Left a bomb on a ship carrying valuable water-breather potions, which mixed into the sea and made it so the potion was never required again.
** Accidentally help Nythera [[spoiler:murder Warlic]].
** [[MacGuffinDeliveryService Utterly fail to protect]] the various [[MacGuffin Mac Guffins]] from the antagonists that want them, including the [[spoiler:Primal Orbs]].
** Mess up the spell the Cauldron sisters were going to use to restore their [[BalefulPolymorph sisters to their natural forms]].
** Lead Queen Pallor right to her target, Vayle.
** Release [[spoiler:Sek-Duat's power back to him]].
** Cause Zorbak's StartOfDarkness after an incident involving time travel.
* OnlySaneMan: As mentioned above, s/he is either this or an IdiotHero [[IdiotBall depending on what the plot calls for]].
* PanickyExpectantFather: S/he freaks out upon learning that the dragon egg is about to hatch.
* ProtagonistWithoutAPast: Initially nothing is revealed prior to "A Hero Is Bored", and s/he seemingly starts off as a hero. "Yulgar's First Date" sheds some light on what happened prior to getting into the hero business, where s/he was a normal kid.
* PsychicBlockDefense: In "Interview", the Hero gets [[DemonicPossession possessed by an evil spirit]] who is the [[AllYourPowersCombined collected hatred of all the Hero's enemies combined]]. However his/her strong will allows the spirit to be expelled.
* RagTagBunchOfMisfits:
** In Book 2 where the Hero teams up with [[spoiler: The Professor, Konnan, Xan, and Jannia. Two of which were once his/her greatest enemies.]]
** In Book 3 Ravenloss, the Hero is part of the Void Ship crew which consists of: Tomix, Aegis, Izaac (another Soulweaver), Riadne (an arachnomancer), Mysterious G/Eirr (a gnome engineer), Captain Mazurek (a pirate captian), Vaal (a chaos weaver), Matey, Yashta, as well as several weavers and gnomes.
** In the Sulen'Eska questchain, the Hero joins the rebellion against the Rose. The team consists of two Wind Elves (Kara SuLema and Svera), a DragonRider (Mritha), a Clawkin (Bajacu'), and a [[MagicKnight MageKnight]] (Sir Leon).
** In Book 3 Amityvale, the Hero teams up with [[spoiler: Raven (a Rose recruit), Chaney, Lon, and Queen Safiria against Frydae.]]
* SadClown
* ScreamingWarrior: And what a variety of screams s/he has!
* SnarkKnight: Engages in sarcasm from time to time.
* SpeakInUnison: With Artix, in a lengthy sequence in ''Moonridge: Saved!''.
* TalkingToThemself: A '''lot'''. The Hero notices in the Water Orb Saga, and comments s/he should probably stop doing that.
* TookALevelInBadass: Over the course of the series s/he develops from a clueless newb, and ends up becoming the greatest hero of Lore. As well as the fact, they gain new abilities and stats as they level up.
* WeCanRuleTogether: The Hero is often offered this by the BigBad of a questchain. The game will give sometimes give the option of picking the Evil choice, but this always results in a NonStandardGameOver, where you're presented with a scenario of what would happen ''if'' they had picked this option and suffering the consequences for his/her treachery. Before the game gives a "second chance" to make the right choice.
* WildCardExcuse: Sometimes the Hero likes to use the same lame excuse to justify a series of questions, and [[FridgeLogic it always works]].
** In the Dark Orb questchain, when the Hero tries to get past the Gatekeeper using Zorbak's student I.D. card, that's expired and says he's expelled.[[note]]
--> '''The Gate Keeper:''' LET ME SEE YOUR STUDENT ID CARD!\\
'''The Hero:''' Sure, sure... Here ya go.\\
'''The Hero:''' Yeah, that's because... you know... magic.\\
'''The Gate Keeper:''' OH... WELL... YES... THAT IS UNDERSTANDABLE.\\
'''The Hero:''' Magic.\\
'''The Gate Keeper:''' HMMM... YES.. I SEE. THAT WOULD EXPLAIN IT.\\
'''The Gate Keeper:''' BUT THIS CARD IS ALSO EXPIRED!\\
'''The Hero:''' Magic!\\
'''The Gate Keeper:''' AH, YES. THAT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME...\\
** Again in the Sulen'Eska questchain, while the Hero infiltrates the Rose prison by disguising as a Rose soldier named Edd, with a mask that's too pale.
--> '''Private Bradley:''' Otherwise, how are you feeling? You look a bit...\\
'''The Hero:''' Dumplings.\\
'''Private Bradley:''' Right. Though your voice is rather...\\
'''The Hero:''' Dumplings.\\
'''Private Bradley:''' Right, right, I keep forgetting, sorry.

!!!Class Specific tropes
* ArcherArchetype: If the Hero is a ranger.
* CreepyShadowedUndereyes: The Hero gets these as a Necromancer.

!!The Hero's Dragon
One of two dragons that hatch from the eggs in the White and Black Dragon Boxes--the dragon from the Black Dragon Box is destined to [[ExactWords destroy a world]], while the dragon from the White Dragon Box is destined to save the world. Due to a mix-up, Sepulchure and The Hero end up with the wrong dragons. [[spoiler:Their attempts to ScrewDestiny are foiled by a ProphecyTwist--The Hero's Dragon destroys the planet-sized Super Mega Ultra Darkness Dracolich while the other dragon [[HeroicSacrifice sacrifices itself]] to save the world from it]].
* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: There are quite a few instances in Book 3 where the Dragon is the playable characters, which include the "Dragon hatches you" cutscene, the "Hide and Seek" quest, or in the "Sulen'Eska" questchain there's "Dragon Rider War" and "An Uncertain Future".
* AntiAntiChrist: It was originally prophesied that the Dragon would be the one to destroy the world, but in a bid to ScrewDestiny it ends up being the savior of the world and helps the Hero defeat countless threats to Lore. [[spoiler:Turns out it was actually a ProphecyTwist, where both Dragons fulfill their fate, but with different interpretations. Check the character summary above.]]
* {{Badass}}: The most powerful pet the Hero can get, and on par with the stronger guests.
* BadassAdorable: It's so tiny and cute, yet it's the most powerful pet that can be acquired and can do devastating damage to enemies.
* BondCreatures: In Book 3 it's revealed that dragons become soul partners to dragonlords and dragon riders. The dragon and his/her the Hero is no exception.
* BrattyHalfPint: Once you can understand the Dragon, it's revealed to have a serious attitude problem.
* DarkIsNotEvil: It hatched from the Black Dragon Box, and when it hatches dark shadows emerge. However the dragon turns out to be the savior of the world. Also, it's possible to use the "Elementalize Your Dragon" thing to give it elemental dark powers.
* DeadpanSnarker: In the "Mysterious LLC" quest, if you have a Dragon Amulet.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: The Dragon is around for almost as long as the Hero, and the second most focused character. There are a few instances where it takes over as main character, see * AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent.
* FlyingFirepower: Can literally fly and breathe fire.
* EggMacGuffin: Starts out as this.
* ElementalPowers: The Dragon can be elementalized to any of nine primary elements inbetween battles.
* HelloInsertNameHere: The Dragon starts out with the name "Draco", but Dragon Amulet Holders can change its name.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:The Dragon gets in the path of Sek-Duat draining the Hero's life energy, and ends up getting drained itself. Fortunately it doesn't die.]]
* {{Irony}}: The Dragon thinks of the Hero as its pet.
* TheLancer: To the Hero.
* TheMedic: After enough feeding and training the Dragon, it gains the ability to heal you in battle.
* MentalFusion: Dragons can form a mental link with their Dragonlord partners, and can communicate telepathically. In Book 3 the Hero's bond with the Dragon becomes strong enough that they can communicate this way. The Dragon proceeds to make fun of the Hero for taking so long to realize.
* NonHumanSidekick: In case you haven't realized it's species yet.
* OlderAlterEgo: Temporarily becomes an adult for [[BossBattle "Titan" battles]].
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Can [[MakeMyMonsterGrow grow to adult size]] using the Dragon Amulet and be [[DragonRider ridden by The Hero]].
* PuppyDogEyes: It tries the "sparkly eye technique" to get the Hero to "hatch" when they're frozen.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: In its baby form.
* SuddenlyVoiced: Once the Hero acquires a Dragon Amulet, or in Book 3. Turns out it could actually speak the whole time, only the Hero couldn't understand the language.
* TeamPet: When the Hero has guests in their party.
* TechniColorFire: No matter what element it has been set as, while it's a baby the flames will remain an orangey-yellow. This changes when it's in Titan form where the color flames will match that of the element chosen.
* {{Troll}}: On a few instances the Dragon loves to annoy the Hero.
* [[spoiler:YouCantFightFate: Averted. The prophecy is defied and the world destroyer dragon is the savior, so it's actually becomes an example of ScrewDestiny.]]

[[folder: Party Members]]

!!Artix von Krieger
A paladin with an uncontrollable compulsion to slay the undead. Prone to making [[IncrediblyLamePun groan-worthy puns]].
* AnAxeToGrind: The Blinding Light of Destiny.
* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: You can temporarily play as Artix in two quests: in ''The Green Mist'' where the temporary Kid Artix armor is equipped in a {{Flashback}} quest, and in the ''Bachelor Party'' quest, as 'Defensive Artix'.
* AuthorAvatar: Of creator Adam Bohn.
* AwesomeMcCoolname
* AxCrazy: Played with. He's a hero who's pure of heart, and dedicates his life to vanquishing evil for the greater good. But he sure loves slaying the undead, to the point where it's almost an addiction and he can't restrain himself.
* {{Badass}}: Either with his sword or with his axe, he is a holy terror against undead, and when you have him in your party, his Light ability does very high damage against beings weak to it (such as many undead).
** He beat ''5 million'' undead entirely by himself, as revealed in the ''Noxus Fumes'' quest. ''And felt underwhelmed afterwards.''
* BadassAdorable: In his childhood, he is [[NiceGuy all nice]] and sometimes even cutely [[ThePratfall falls while attacking]], but he'll fearlessly fight wild monsters and zombies with a simple hatchet.
* BadassCape: Artix wears a long, [[RedIsHeroic red]] cape.
* BattleCry: "Battle on!"
* BigGood: He qualifies as this alongside Warlic. He has dedicated his life to that of light and purity, being of IncorruptiblePurePureness. He's also one of the most active heroes alongside the main character, appearing in more quest chains than any other character. Not to mention he is a pivotal character in every one of the games by Artix Entertainment.
* {{Bishonen}}
* BizarreTasteInFood: Has a particular fondness for wasabi, and puts it on everything.
* BladeSpam: Two of his skills, Combo (Ultimate Light Combo Attack!) and Slash (Undead Slayer Slash!), are multi-hit attacks that do [[LightEmUp Light-elemental damage]] in four slashes.
** Before his update, he had one skill called Holy Strike, in which he made a four-hit Light attack on one enemy target. And before that, he could randomly do that whenever the player used the 'Attack!' command.
* CombatMedic: As a guest (after a much-needed update), Artix can heal the player's character with his skill, Restore, at the cost of 30 MP.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: His heroic impulses are so strong, that he cannot even momentarily resist the urge to go undercover and will vanquish a evil at the sight of it.
** Even as a kid, he couldn't not help Vayle when she was in trouble
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Artix has brown hair and equally brown eyes.
* DeclarationOfProtection: To Vayle, during his childhood... At least, until she got home to her brother.
-->'''Artix:''' I will get you back to your brother as soon as I can! I think I see a tunnel over there.
-->'''Artix:''' There is no need to be scared. Follow me, I will protect you!
* {{Determinator}}: He'll never give up. Ever.
* DoomedHometown: The village where he (and Vayle) lived was wiped out by the [[FogOfDoom Green]] [[MysteriousMist Mist]], which turned everyone but Artix and Vayle into zombies. It was set on fire and [[WatchingTroyBurn Artix saw it burn]].
* FinishingMove:
** As a guest, his skill, Ultimate Light Combo Attack! (Combo) serves as a LimitBreak of sorts, given it's normally not available from the start of a battle (unlike his other multi-hit attack, Slash/Undead Slayer Slash.) It's an [[LightEmUp Light attack]] that damages the enemy four times.
** [[CoupDeGraceCutscene Storywise]], however, he can summon a spear made of pure white light with draconic features as seen in ''Artix Vs. The Undead'', which he uses to finish off Edgar, destroy its Spiritcrystal and unveil the Necromantress.
* ForgottenFirstMeeting: Artix doesn't know at first that he already knows the Necromantress, but he does.
* ForgottenFriendNewFoe: Downplayed. Though he and Vayle met many years ago, they weren't exactly friends--just a boy and a girl who met on a fateful day of their lives, when [[StartingANewLife each took a different path]]. [[RedStringOfFate Destiny]] had it they'd clash again as enemies later down the road.
* HeroicComedicSociopath: He's definitely a true hero, but one that's immensely AxCrazy and will impulsively slaughter monsters on sight.
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: What he has dedicated his life to doing, though he's a lot kinder than the typical example.
* HerdHittingAttack: His skill, Light of Justice! (Light), attacks all foes.
* HiddenBadass: Before his much needed upgrade, he was only a level 3. But a message always accompanied recruiting him, saying he could take on enemies that were hundred level higher than him. He would remain the strongest guest until Tomix showed up.
* HolyBurnsEvil
* HolyHandGrenade: In two of his skills, Light and Blind, he uses spells of only [[LightEmUp light]] to damage his enemies.
* TheHunter: Artix fights the forces of darkness most fiercely, and has decicated his entire life to battling TheUndead. His motivation for doing so is pretty varied: first and foremost, most of them are tortured souls who CannotSelfTerminate and he was to put them all out of their misery by freeing them; they're used by Necromancer mainly to hurt other people, so he wants to protect the innocent; the Paladin Order's servitude to "the light" puts them at odds with the commonly Darkness-aligned undead; [[ItsPersonal it's a bit personal]] since he lost his village to an [[FogOfDoom Undeath-inducing]] [[MysteriousMist mi]][[OminousFog st]]; and finally, pleasure since he's either a BloodKnight, GoodFeelsGood, or both, because he ''really'' enjoys exorcizing the Undead.
** This is played with a few times.
*** In Frostvale 2007, the Hero meets the [[YetAnotherChristmasCarol Ghosts of Frostvale Past, Present, and Future]] and explain they will be capable of giving Xanta Claus a HeelFaceTurn and stop him from destroying the world. However Artix shows up [[TheCameo out of the blue]] and destroys all three spirits. When the Hero is recovering from shock, Artix misinterprets this for gratitude and reassures the Hero that the ghosts would no longer haunt the town.
*** The Hero comes across a trope of friendly Necromancers who use the undead to perform music as entertainment for guests. The Hero watches the happy scene and makes a mental note to ensure Artix doesn't find this place.
** In ''VideoGame/AdventureQuest'', this is taken to its logical conclusion in which he comes across as a KnightTemplar / WellIntentionedExtremist, considering not all undead are bound to necromancers[[note]]They have nice peaceful lives trying not to bother anyone, like Cagliari Lux, and don't like the idea of being exorcized[[/note]], or when he decides to wage a war against all necromancers, where his [[{{Determinator}} single-mindedness]] won't allow him to listen to nice necromancers nor stop the conflict, only to bring about the disruption of Lore's [[LeyLine ley lines]] and the Paladin Order's ex-communication from "the church" by the Lady of Light herself.
* IncorruptiblePurePureness: As a child, the Darkness Primal Orb whispered in his mind, tempting him with great power if he gave himself to the darkness... but he didn't. In fact, that was the very moment he decided to turn his back on the darkness forever and become a power of good. Vayle, [[StartOfDarkness on the other hand...]]
* KryptoniteFactor: The colour pink, as revealed in the quest ''Pinkonreach''. It temporarily blinds him if there's too much of it.
-->'''Artix:''' N-no... too m-much... PINK! MY EYESS!!!!1 AAHH!
* LeeroyJenkins
* LightEmUp: All of Artix's attacks do Light-elemental damage.
* LightIsGood: He is one of the purest heroes in the series, and all of his attacks center around Light.
* MeaningfulName: Krieger means "warrior" in German.
* NoodleIncident: What happened to the Blinding Light of Destiny has never been fully explained. Artix only says ItsALongStory that ended in a battle against a Master Necromancer, who summoned a creature from the Plane of Eternal Darkness. Artix couldn't slain it and so had to seal it in his battleaxe--creating the Shadowreaper of Doom in the process.
* ThePaladin: To the extreme.
* ParentalAbandonment: Artix lost both parents to the [[FogOfDoom Green]] [[MysteriousMist Mist]] when he was twelve-or-so years old.
* ParentalSubstitute: Lady Celestia, who nursed him back to health and began training him to battle the forces of evil, took care of him after his village was burned. He had enough tea to last him a lifetime, though.
* PungeonMaster
* QuestGiver: He's the one who gives the "Darkness Orb" quest chain.
* ReactionShot: In ''Moonridge: Saved!'', along with Lady Vayle. "Could this be the same Vayle [[ForgottenFirstMeeting I met when I was a little boy?]]"
* SeriesMascot: Alongside Twilly, he is the most frequently used in promotions for the game, not to mention the game's company is named after him.
* SpeakInUnison: With the Hero, in a lengthy sequence in the ''Moonridge: Saved!'' quest.
* StagParty: As Rolith's best man, Artix organizes a bachelor par-tay--a wrestling championship against [[TheUndead undead]]!
* StartingANewLife: As a child, his hometown was wiped out by the Green Mist and lost everything, only to be found by Celestia. A few years later, he joined the Paladin order as a paladin-in-training. In his own words:
-->'''Artix:''' I put all thoughts of the village behind and looked forward to my new life.
* TookALevelInBadass: Artix has always been a badass, but his guest (for a long time) was non-scaled at level 3 and had just ''one'' skill (Holy Strike). After a much needed update, he is now level-scaled and has five new skills--[[FinishingMove Ultimate]] [[LightEmUp Light]] [[LimitBreak Combo]] [[CallingYourAttacks Attack!]], [[HealingHands Restoring Light]], [[BladeSpam Undead Slayer Slash]][[note]]which lowers enemy Light resistance[[/note]], [[HolyHandGrenade Blinding Light]] and [[HerdHittingAttack Light of JUSTICE!]]--making him once again one of the strongest guests.
* TrademarkFavouriteFood: Holy Wasabi.
** As seen in ''Too Many Cooks'', Artix carries it around with him, and puts it on everything.
** In ''The Funeral'', he leaves some Holy Wasabi on Warlic's memorial statue.
** In ''Critical Failure!'', he slipped some Holy Wasabi in the Hero's backpack, thinking s/he "might find it useful."
* WouldntHitAGirl: In Hero's Heart Day 2013 quest, ''Bachelor Party'', the player [[AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent plays as him]] in the Defensive Artix armor, he prefers HonorBeforeReason and gets his ass kicked by Alina's bridesmaids because he won't attack them at all.
** In battle, when the player clicks the Attack! command, he will say "Nope!" and do nothing for the rest of the turn. His two other skills are similarly useless: Explain, in which he raises his hand and shouts "Please let me explain!" and has no effect, and Holy Strike, in which the foam hammer glows, but before completing the attack, he says "Ya know what....nope. Can't do it." and doesn't attack.
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: The night of the [[FogOfDoom Green]] [[MysteriousMist Mist]] Artix "lost everything and everyone that [he] ever knew" and had [[StartingANewLife to start a new life.]]

!!Robina the Hood
In her own words; "Robina the Hood at your service. Steal from the rich, give to the.... cute little cuddly wuddly forest creatures!" [[JustifiedTrope Well, that explains how]] [[MoneySpider those monsters got all that gold]].
* ActionGirl
* ArcherArchetype: Though the game refers to her as a Ranger.
* BadassPrincess: In Sir Ano's quest chain, The Hero finds out that [[spoiler:Robina is actually the secret identity of King Alteon's second daughter, Princess Victoria]].
* CaptainErsatz: Literally a female RobinHood.
* KingIncognito
* MoneySpider: She steals from the rich and gives to the monsters. Apparently, she is the one responsible for most of the gold you find on them.
* QuestGiver
* RebelliousPrincess: [[spoiler:In spite of, or more likely even because of his own career, King Alteon doesn't exactly approve of any of his daughters getting involved in adventuring, which is part of the reason Princess Victoria poses as an outlaw named Robina. In Book 1, she is a bandit that steals from the rich and gives to the monsters. In Book 3, this goes much further. Since her father is working with The Rose to wipe out magic, she has decided to pose as a boy named Cinquefoil to infiltrate The Rose, understand their true intentions, and to some extent, work against them.]]
* SamusIsAGirl: [[spoiler:In Book 3, she poses as a boy named Cinquefoil in order to infiltrate The Rose. Her disguise is remarkably effective to the point that even her build looks decidedly masculine.]]
* TomboyPrincess

!!Ash Dragonblade
A young inhabitant of Falconreach who dreams of saving a princess and becoming a knight. In the main ''[=DragonFable=]'' storyline, he's a {{sidekick}} to The Hero. In ''[=ArchKnight=]'', he ''is'' The Hero.
* {{Adorkable}}: [[CrushBlush Blushes]] in front of girls, very helpful to everyone in Falconreach (and outside) and is ObliviousToLove.
* AwesomeMcCoolname
* CallingYourAttacks: [[spoiler:"Ultimate [=ArchKnight=] Light Soul Flare Beam Splatty Boom Technique!!! GO!"]]
* DorkKnight
* HeIsAllGrownUp: Compare [[ his initial appearance]] with [[ his appearance]] after completing ''[=ArchKnight=]'', to finally [[ his appearance]] after the TimeSkip between Book 2 and Book 3.
* HeroOfAnotherStory
* HeroesWantRedheads: He's in love with Aria.
* IdiotHero
* JustFriends: With Aria. But the quest's ending [[ShipTease implies]] [[RelationshipUpgrade something else...]]
-->'''Ash:''' I really needed a vacation with a good friend!
-->'''Aria:''' Right... a.... friend...
* KidHero
* KidSidekick: He's the youngest party member who the Hero can take on any mission.
* LightIsGood: [[spoiler: As the Knight of Light]].
* LightEmUp: [[spoiler:As the Knight of Light, he has a lot of light based attacks.]]
* TheMedic: [[spoiler:After becoming the Knight of Light, he can heal the Hero.]]
* ObliviousToLove: To Aria's love. Actually, to anyone who demonstrate an interest in him.
* QuestGiver: He has multiple quests made for begginer players.
* TagalongKid: The only kid you can bring along for any quest, as other kids are only available for one specific quest.
* TookALevelInBadass: [[spoiler:At the end of ''[=ArchKnight=]'']].
** [[spoiler: And in Book 3, which takes place after ''Archknight'' and a timeskip and has him as a hero in his own right, wielding a Blade of Light that "his princess" is still powering him through.]]

!!Valencia Surehunter
A rare item hunter who took over the "family business" after her father went missing in search of "The Ultimate Treasure". [[spoiler:She is eventually reunited with her father, but he turns out to be a villain]]. Has something of a rivalry with Symone [=DuBellmount=]
* ActionGirl
* AdventurerArchaeologist: Being a treasure hunter and all.
* AwesomeMcCoolname
* BareYourMidriff: Her [[ initial look]]. [[ Loses it]] after the TimeSkip between Book 2 and Book 3.
* BiTheWay: [[AlternativeCharacterInterpretation Probably]]. She'll flirt with The Hero regardless of their gender (in both ''[=DragonFable=]'' and ''[=AdventureQuest=]'').
* EyesAlwaysShut: While she's invited as a party member, during battles her eyes always appear shut.
* MissingMom: Her mother is never shown nor mentioned. She only has her father, Trey Surehunter.
* FamilyBusiness: She is a renowned Treasure Hunter, just like her father. She mentions it when the player talks to her in ''That A Way''.
* QuestGiver: Most importantly, of the Bacon Origins questchain.
* RapunzelHair: Tailbone-length.
* TookALevelInBadass: Originally she was always a fixed level 8, and had one special ability which was knife throwing. She received an upgrade along with Artix, and now gets scaled with the Hero, and has three new abilities including; a double hitting attack, a guaranteed critical hit, and additional health potions to the standard two.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: She has purple hair, which she seems to have inherited from her father.

The Blue Mage is one of the most powerful {{NPC}}s in the game. In fact, he's ''so'' powerful that he rarely interferes in anything because he can't risk his power getting out of control. Has a rivalry with Xan that goes way, way back. [[spoiler:He dies in Nythera's first quest chain, but later comes back from the dead to save her from her own [[WhatAnIdiot mistakes]]]].
* AchillesInHisTent: [[spoiler: Book 3. He's locked himself in his tower.]]
* AllPowerfulBystander: [[JustifiedTrope Justified]]. For all the almost unlimited capacity for magic (given his lack of need for mana) and his extensive knowledge about magic, he's one of the most powerful characters in the game, but chooses to do nothing against threats directly (...unless someone ''really'' needs him) because it may as well be TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt.
* TheArchmage
* TheAtoner: He is remorseful about his jerkassery during his school years towards Xan and the part he played in trapping Jaania in an Ice crystal. He's tried to redeem himself for two-hundred years by the time the Hero meets him for the first time.
* [[spoiler:BackFromTheDead]]: [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]]. His [[spoiler:memorial statue]] in Falconreach has "[[spoiler:[[UnexplainedRecovery he got better]]]]" scratched into it.
* {{Badass}}: Though he [[AllPowerfulBystander rarely takes action]], he's able to take on the Elemental Avatars themselves--and they are the closest to gods that DF has.
* BadassBookworm: Though he's a master of the magical arts already, he continues his studies to discover the secrets of the universe.
* BadassLongRobe: During the course of the story, he wears a long, sumptuous blue robe.
* BigGood: Serves this role alongside Artix. He is tasked with maintaining the elemental order, and is one of the most important allies.
* {{Bishonen}}
* DeathIsCheap: [[spoiler: He dies during the Elemental Storm War, killed by Nythera, but he's revived not too long after.]]
-->'''Warlic:''' Dying is of little consequence to me, I have been to Death's Realm before. ''We all float there''.
* DeusExitMachina: He might theoretically be able to solve almost every problem you come up against... [[PhlebotinumOverload except that using too much magic would make him overload on mana and probably destroy the world]].
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: He is capable of outfighting the Elemental Avatars, and did so once to make them spare his apprentice.
* DoesNotLikeShoes: When his feet can be seen under his BadassLongRobe, he's always barefoothed.
* HalfHumanHybrid: It is unclear whether he is a literal HalfHumanHybrid, but he is not entirely human. [[spoiler:He is in fact, partially demonic in nature.]]
* HandicappedBadass: [[PhlebotinumOverload For reasons]], he can't use his magic to its full capacity and so he [[AllPowerfulBystander rarely]] [[MinoredInAsskicking takes direct action]].
* HeelFaceDoorSlam: [[spoiler:Jaania rejects Warlic's apologies and freezes him away into a prison of ice.]]
* HelpingWouldBeKillStealing: The secondary reason Warlic doesn't just wipe out all the bad guys (or control the world for that matter).
* HumanMomNonhumanDad
* HumanPopsicle: [[spoiler:His fate at the end of Book 2, along with the Hero and Xan, thanks to Jaania. He eventually manages to break free and starts The Hero's thawing before being forced to flee... only to lock himself in his tower.]]
* {{Irony}}: [[spoiler:While technically not killed, Jaania imprisons Warlic (and Xan) in a block of ice, just like how he accidentally got her imprisoned.]]
* {{Jerkass}}: During his years in the Magic Academy in Swordhaven, he was [[ArrogantKungFuGuy very arrogant]] and he... Thankfully, he TookALevelInKindness.
-->'''The Professor:''' He was... in a new place, a new body. [[ArrogantKungFuGuy Arrogant.]] [[HotBlooded Impetuous.]]
** [[spoiler:According to [[WordOfGod Geo]], the reason why he's a jerk in the Alexander questchain is due to the fact that he remembers how amazing he was in his Infernal form, before rebelling against his tyrant father and paying for it.]]
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: [[spoiler:As the Professor and Wargoth merge back into one body, his memories of what happened during the split are a bit ''fuzzy'', to say the least. However, the Hero suspects he knows more than he lets on.]]
-->'''Warlic:''' No. No, I won't remember.
-->'''The Hero:''' (''thinks''): Or you don't want to....
* LetsYouAndHimFight: [[spoiler:Xan forces him to fight The Hero]].
* MerlinAndNimue: The Merlin to Nythera's Nimue.
* MinoredInAsskicking: He actively refrains from fighing anyone... unless he really has to. On the other hand, he prefers to assist people with his knowledge of the magical arts.
* MysticalWhiteHair
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:He immediately regrets setting Xan's face on fire and trapping Jaania in a crystal. He also probably regrets almost killing everyone as Wargoth. Only time will tell, though.]]
* MyGreatestFailure: According to the Professor, one of Warlic's greatest regrets was (and is) [[spoiler:what he did to Xan all those years ago. What happened to Jaania is most likely the other one.]]
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: He is responsible for Xan and [[spoiler:Jaania]]'s descent into madness and villainy.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished:
** When he was young, [[spoiler:he rebelled against his father, Wargoth "Sr.", and though he saved the Ateala from Somorah, his wings were taken from him and was cast to Lore, where he was on human on form and had to relearn all how to control his powers.]]
** More recently, [[spoiler:Warlic helped cast a Light protective spell all around Falconreach to shield it from the Mysterious Stranger's darkness.... but he surpassed his mana limit, and split in two halves (The Professor and Wargoth) as he tried to get away from Lore as quickly as possible. Once they merged into Warlic again, his Infernal half had already gone on a rampage for being repressed for so long, and Jaania was quick to rub all of his mistakes and actions (some of which he had no control over) in his face, only to freeze him alongside the Hero and Xan.]]
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: He is part infernal, a race of demonic fire elementals.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Warlic has a unique mana pool, which actually fills up as he casts more spells instead of expending it. He is (one of) the strongest magic users in the entire world, even capable of [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu outfighting the Element Lords]]. But every spell he casts risks bringing about the EndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt, [[PhlebotinumOverload especially as he starts reaching his mana pool's capacity]].
** In fact, he did [[spoiler:destroy Somorah, an ENTIRE planet in his Infernal form.]]
* PhlebotinumOverload: As Warlic casts spells, his mana pool actually increases instead of decreasing like most casters. If it increases too much, it risks bringing about the EndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt or [[spoiler:splitting Warlic into his two different natures.]]
* PurpleEyes: Warlic is indeed very special as the HalfHumanHybrid son of a human woman [[spoiler:and an Infernal, a demon race with incredible power and a natural affinity for Fire, which he has inherited]], and he somehow possess the unique trait of gaining mana instead of running out of it. He's also an [[PurpleIsPowerful abnormally strong]] [[SupernaturalIsPurple magic user]].
* QuestGiver: Of the "Wrath of Xan" questchain.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: His exact age is unknown, but he has been on Lore for several centuries at least.
** [[WordOfGod Geopetal]] revealed he's 5,000 years old, much like his AQ counterpart.
* SingleTear: [[spoiler:He sheds one after Wargoth and The Professor merge back into him, and Jaania freezes them after telling him [[WhatTheHellHero everything she thought about him]]. Most likely it's [[TearsOfRemorse remorse]].]]
* SplitPersonalityMerge: [[spoiler:As it turns out, the Professor and Wargoth are his human and Infernal halves, respectively. In order to defeat Wargoth, the heroes have to merge them back together into Warlic]].
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: [[spoiler:As it turns out, Warlic using too much mana won't necessarily destroy the world right away. At the conclusion of Book 1, he accidentally split into two separate beings; The Professor, and the power-mad Wargoth.]]
* YouShallNotPass: Delivers one to the Elemental Avatars, as he tries to protect Nythera from their wrath.

A little girl whose grandmother runs the Falconreach pet shop. She is introduced in a quest where The Hero rescues her from a cave full of BigCreepyCrawlies (including a GiantSpider that Aria wanted to keep as a pet). She takes over the pet shop after [[spoiler:Grams is revealed to have been replaced by a spy]].
* TheBeastmaster
* BigNo: In the Archknight quest, ''From Ice To....'', when Ash is about to kiss "the Princess" now made of stone.
* FluffyTamer
* LittleMissBadass: Back when she was a child anyway.
** [[spoiler: And she TookALevelInBadass after the timeskip, looking full-out beast-tamer.]]
* LongingLook: In the Hero's Heart Day 2014 quest, ''Love Ship'', Aria gives one to Ash, who's too busy [[ObliviousToLove to notice]] her feelings.
* MissingMom: It's implied in "Yulgar's First Date" that she died when Aria was young.
* ParentalAbandonment: [[RaisedByGrandparents Raised by Grams]], she never mentions her parents. [[spoiler:Once Grams is gone, she claims to be "all alone", and laments the fact that no one will watch over her.]]
** In ''VideoGame/AdventureQuestWorlds'', however, Yulgar is revealed to be her father, and Grams her maternal grandmother. ''If'' this is the case in ''[=DragonFable=]'' as well, Yulgar seems to [[ParentalNeglect have little time to spare due to work.]]
** Confirmed in the Yulgar's first date quest of book three.
*** Her mother is revealed to be Grams's daughter, a sickly young woman (at that time) named Lark.
* RaisedByGrandparents: She remains with her grandma, Grams, and learns everything she can about pet training from her.
* RedHeadedHero
* SheIsAllGrownUp: In Book 3. Compare [[ this]] with [[ this]]
* TookALevelInBadass

Captain of the Knights of the Pactogonal Table. Loves tormenting The Hero with his [[NintendoHard insanely difficult]] Code Monkey Challenges. [[spoiler:After the TimeSkip, when The Hero finally breaks free of his/her prison, Rolith gives a quick rescue and brings The Hero up to date on recent events.]]
* AuthorAvatar: Of the lead programmer of the game.
* {{Badass}}: When he's in your party, he deals 4-6 hits in one attack.
* DefectorFromDecadence: [[spoiler:Rolith gives his resignation after Alteon forces him to let [[AntimagicalFaction The Rose]] garrison at Oaklore and starts giving concussions to members of The Rose and even his former comrades, the Pactagonal Knights.]]
* FluffyTamer: If his fondness for togs is any indication.
* HappilyMarried: To Alina.
* KnightTemplar: He temporarily becomes this in the 2011 Frostval storyline. [[WhatTheHellHero Alina calls him out on it]].
** StrawmanHasAPoint / ProperlyParanoid: Something usually '''does''' happen to the Frost Moglins that puts them in peril around Frostval, and the Hero almost always has to be the one to put whoever's responsible to rights after under-evaluating or being entirely unaware of the threat at hand. Just because his approach is extreme doesn't mean Rolith's heart isn't in the right place.
* PunnyName: [[AvertedTrope Averted]]; he's the only Pactogonal Knight who ''doesn't'' have a Punny Name.
* QuestGiver
* WackyMarriageProposal: Rolith and Alina are both {{Author Avatar}}s of staff members. Real-life Rolith proposed to real-life Alina via an in-game cutscene ''parodying Advertising/TheManYourManCouldSmellLike'', which is pretty much a Crowning Moment of ''[[CrowningMomentOfFunny Ev]][[CrowningMomentOfAwesome ery]][[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming thing]]''.

!!Sir Ano
A recently knighted Pactogonal Knight who asks The Hero to help him live up to his family's reputation.

A Ranger and an ally of The Hero. He initially works for Sek-Duat XV, [[spoiler:but switches sides [[MoneyDearBoy after being told that Sek-Duat XV doesn't intend to pay him]]]].
* AntiHero: He seems to be a hero who's OnlyInItForTheMoney, though he does have a CodeOfHonour and learns from the Hero of the value of fighting for what he believes in.
* ArcherArchetype: He is the trainer for the Ranger class.
* {{Badass}}: [[spoiler: He's one of few opponents who fights the Hero more than once in the same quest, manages to fight evenly with him/her, doesn't have any special powers, and still manages to fight alongside him/her without any time to rest.]]

* DoesNotLikeShoes: Zhoom is always barefooted.
* GenocideBackfire: Sek-Duat XIV hunted the Sand Elves to extinction. [[spoiler:Turns out Sek-Duat XIV and Sek-Duat XV are [[MyGrandsonMyself the same person]], so when Zhoom helps The Hero defeat him it becomes an example of this trope]].
* HalfHumanHybrid: He is half Sand Elf from his mother's side, [[spoiler:as well as an unknowing descendant of Sek-Duat]].
* HaveWeMetYet: In "Titans of Battleon", Future Zhoom accompanies Future Artix and Cysero to meet the Hero, before the Hero meets Zhoom, resulting in the Hero not knowing who Zhoom is.
* HumanMomNonhumanDad: Inverted -- his mother was a Sand Elf.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:After you finish the Light Orb Saga]].
* ItAmusedMe: [[spoiler:Turns out he knew you were working for LaResistance all along. He didn't turn you in because it was way more ''fun'' with you around.]]
* LastOfHisKind: He is the last Sand Elf as well as [[spoiler:the last remaining descendant of Sek-Duat]].
* NobleDemon: Before joining forces with the Hero he was a [[OnlyInItForTheMoney money hungry]] BountyHunter who abided by a CodeOfHonour.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: At first, before the Hero teaches him otherwise which leads to his HeelFaceTurn.
* PointyEars: A side effect of being half elf.
* QuestGiver: Of the "Light Orb" questchain.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: [[spoiler:Sek-Duat seemingly planned to kill Zhoom to finally complete his genocide of the Sand Elves. Though the truth turns out to be more complicated]].

A Dragonslayer and an ally of The Hero. Despite his hatred of dragons, he accepts that The Hero is a [=DragonLord=] at the end of the Ice Orb saga. * TheFaceless
* FantasticRacism: Toward dragons. To be fair, a dragon did [[ItsPersonal kill his parents.]]
* MythicalMotifs: The Dragon.
* ParentalAbandonment: Galanoth lost his parents died in one of Akriloth's attack at the tender age of five. After that, he was HappilyAdopted by Demento's family.
* QuestGiver: He's the main NPC of the "Ice Orb" questchain.
* TragicKeepsake:
** The locket from ''A Cold Recption'' containing photos of his deceased parents.
** The Enchanted Stones from the quest ''Tipping The Scales'' belonged to his deceased mother, an enchantress. For many years, dragons used them as chips, baubles, winning them in games of chance. Thanks to the Hero (if s/he trains the DragonSlayer armor), he recovers some of them.

The last Water Elf [[spoiler:(or so she thinks)]]. She plays an important role in the Water Orb saga.
* AmazingTechnicolourPopulation
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: The reason why she comes to trust the Hero, despite her initial hostility to them.
* DistressedDamsel: When Captain Davey kidnaps her.

* PointyEars: Well, yeah. She ''is'' an elf.
* QuestGiver: For the "Water Orb" questchain.

!!Diawe and Caran
Two Death Knight twin sisters who are former members of Davey's crew, who help out the hero.

* BlessedWithSuck: As a result of being Death Knights they never rest, but this is what makes them immune to Kathool Atchoo's influence. In addition, the curse doesn't seem to bother them at all.
* CurseThatCures: More accurately their Death Knight curse prevents them from falling asleep and therefore resistance to Kathool Atchoo's MindScrew.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Death Knights are usually evil beings, but these two are allies to the Hero.
* {{Fangirl}}: Huge fans of the great yogi, and enjoy quoting him.

* BadassLongcoat
* {{Bishonen}}
* BladeSpam: He has several attacks that involve rapid strikes with his spiritlooms.
* BrokenAce: In Book 3, he is just as much of a badass and continues to fight monsters alongside the Hero. He even has an attack called "Sorrow" to signify his depressed emotional state.
* CantLiveWithoutYou: [[spoiler:He actually ''died'' when he accidentally released the corrupted elemental spirits. Aspar brought him BackFromTheDead, but Tomix's resurrection was linked to Aspar's own life.]]

* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Aspar.
-->'''Tomix''': He is my closest friend, my [=SoulAlly=]. Without him, I would be lost.
* ILied: Spoken word for word in Book3, when Tomix tricks the Hero into taking a catapult with him.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: Tomix got involved with an arachnomancer named Riadne, but broke up with her and encouraged her relationship with his best friend. He presumably did this due to the fact that he knew he was [[spoiler:doomed to die]].
* [[spoiler:KilledOffForReal]]: [[spoiler:He dies falling into the Void Core.]]
* OhCrap: Related to his WideEyesAndShrunkenIrises moment mentioned below.
* TheProtagonist: Of the "Tomix Saga" in both Book 1 and Book 3.
* PurpleIsPowerful: His soul manifestations are purple in color, which is also the color of his soul self. This is also due to the fact that he harnesses the "Evil-element" as part of his DarkIsNotEvil theme.
* QuestGiver: Of the Ravenloss questchain, in both Book 1 and Book 3. Alternatively called the "Tomix Saga".
* SanitySlippage: During the Void Voyage in Ravenloss Saga in Chapter 3, Tomix is more and more obsessed with taking down Envy. And only the player character along with the other Void ship crew members manage to hold him from slipping into fits of madness every so often.

* ActionGirl
* {{Badass}}: One of the most powerful party members in the game, after Tomix and Aegis, and carries an awesome blade and a pistol.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Utilizes dark based attacks, and stealthy shadow techniques, but is a hero.
* HeartTrauma: She collects the hearts of the monsters she slays.
* TheHunter: Comes from a long line of them. Also gives out the Shadow Hunter Armor. Being a monster hunter puts at odds with [[AdventurerArchaeologist Valencia]], who would rather preserve [[AncientArtifact artifacts]] while Symone would rather destroy them at risk of them being an ArtifactOfDoom.
* RedHeadedHero
* RequiredPartyMember: A subversion, while you do not have to have Symone in your party when you fight Baron Valtrith in his castle, having her at your side will the make the battle against him much easier.

[[folder:Temporary Pets]]

A [[RidiculouslyCuteCritter moglin]] (and one of the first characters The Hero encounters in the game). Friend of Lady Celestia and occasional {{sidekick}} to The Hero.
* ButtMonkey
* HealingHands
* TheMedic: He received an upgrade at some point, so that if you invite him into battle as a pet, he can heal you at random times.
* NonHumanSidekick
* RedHeadedHero: Technically counts because of his reddish-brown fur.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: Like most moglins he's incredibly cute. In the introduction quests, if you choose to kick him back, there's a textbox which says "you are the meanest hero ever, he was '''so''' cute."
* RunningGag: The Baby Dragon eating Twilly, it happens again in Book 3 during "Interview".
* SmallAnnoyingCreature
* SeriesMascot: Alongside Artix, he's used to promote most Artix Games productions.

An evil-- uh, I mean ''[[InsistentTerminology ebil]]'' moglin who enjoys causing trouble for The Hero. Resides in [[spoiler: the Falconreach Guardian Tower after the TimeShip]]
* BadWithTheBone: His staff.
* BigBadWannabe: He wants to be the feared BigBad, but is a very incompetent HarmlessVillain and usually ends up being more of an annoyance than a threat.
* BlackHoleBelly: In the very first Mogloween, Zorbak manages to eat a pile of candy bigger than himself. The Hero even comments how this wasn't even possible.
* ButtMonkey: Not to say he doesn't deserve it for all the evil--er, ebil he does, but he's the moglin usually used for the butt of some kind of joke when Twilly isn't available. Frequently brings the suffering on himself [[HoistByHisOwnPetard as a direct or indirect consequence of his actions]], but it isn't unusual for life to just throw him a curveball entirely out of left field -- which is frequently even more hilarious than watching karma play catch-up hard and fast where Zorbak's concerned.
* DarkIsEvil: He is a necromancer with darkness based attacks.
* DeadpanSnarker: Can be quite sarcastic at times.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Zorbak does not approve of Doom Weapons, and thinks they're for those who are "insane, demented, psychotic and have no conscience or moral bearing."
* EvilIsHammy: Very often will proclaim how "ebil" he is, and how he is one of the most powerful nercomancers to exist. Of course he's really a case of SmallNameBigEgo.
* EvilIsPetty: He takes great pride in merely annoying others and believes it to be evil.
* ExpressiveEars: His ears droop whenever he's sad.
* FailureIsTheOnlyOption: He is very incompetent as [[HarmlessVillain a villain]], necromancer, and a CEO.
* FriendlyEnemy: He's on The Hero's side almost as often as not.
* GoneHorriblyWrong: The reason he was expelled from Necro U was due to an experiment of his, that turned all of the nercomancer students into skeletons.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: Has a scar over his eye.
* HarmlessVillain: He was this early on in the series, with his "terrifying creation" being a turtle with a skull glued on it's back. He later [[TookALevelInBadass becomes more competent]].
* {{Jerkass}}: He can be very rude to others, and loves making other's lives miserable.
* ManipulativeBastard: Was able to both spy on [[spoiler:Falconreach]] for [[spoiler: the cult of Valtrith]] and on the [[spoiler: cult]] itself for his own ulterior motives.
* MarsNeedsWomen: He's attracted to the Necromantress, even though she's a human and he's a small rat-like creature.
* {{Necromancer}}: A failed necromancer who was expelled from the Necropolis, but still a necromancer nonetheless. He ends up becoming the necromancer trainer.
* NonHumanSidekick: When he's not an antagonist, anyway.
* NoodleIncident: How he somehow [[spoiler:got eaten by the Face Nommer in Book 3's Salen'Eska quest chain.]]
* PungeonMaster: Almost as frequently as Artix.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Although his eyes were always red.
* RedemptionDemotion: A weird example; Zorbak is kind of weak when he's in your party, but when The Hero has to fight ''against'' him he's just as tough as any BossBattle.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: He may be evil-- er, ''ebil'', but he's still a moglin.
* TheRival:
** To Twilly, he even has a Twilly doll that's been hanged in his house.
** To a lesser extent, Artix.
* TookALevelInBadass: He received as an upgrade at some point. Now when invite him as a pet he also has a ranged magic attack which has a high chance of critical hitting and does damage-over-time.
* {{Troll}}: To make up for his lack of villainy, he can incredibly annoying to others, especially Artix.
* VerbalTic: "Meh."

[[folder: The Shadowscythe]]
!The Shadowscythe
A faction of undead led by Sepulchure.
* TheNecrocracy: Almost their entire army and staff are comprised of undead.
* ObviouslyEvil
* OminousFloatingCastle: Their former base of operations, [[spoiler:until the ''real'' Grams manages to sabotage it]].

Though widely considered the BigBad of the first Book of ''VideoGame/DragonFable'', he is TheHeavy to his [[TheManBehindTheMan mysterious Master]]. Sepulchure seeks the Elemental Orbs for himself and won't stop at anything to obtain them.
* AlienBlood: His blood is green, indicating his loss of humanity.
* TheAntichrist: This guy exists for the sole purpose of ending the world, [[spoiler:or at least that's what everyone thought, until it's revealed he's a puppet [[BiggerBad to his master]], who is the true antichrist.]]
* {{Backstory}}: Though not fully revealed in ''[=DragonFable=]'', in ''VideoGame/AdventureQuestWorlds'' (with Geopetal's permission) it was revealed that [[spoiler:his real name is Valen. He used to be a great knight from Swordhaven, and Alteon's best friend, and they both overthrew King Slugwrath. However, they both fell in love with a woman called Lynaria, and had a duel to decide who would have her hand, and Valen lost. However, Lynaria was later kidnapped by Dethrix, who took her to the Necropolis. Valen got there, but his efforts were futile until the Mysterious Stranger offered him the Doomknight armor and the Necrotic Blade of Doom. With his new-found power, he defeated Dethrix, but it cost Valen his sanity and free will. Lynaria thought there was still Valen within Sepulchure but the armor attacked her, killing her. He is 'compelled' into creating the Shadowscythe and obtaining the Ultimate Orb as to obey his master... and the only person he now cares about is the daughter he had with Lynaria: Gravelyn.]] With a few modifications and what not, that's his past.
* BadWithTheBone: When he is using the Necrotic Blade of Doom.
* BadassBoast:
** Delivers one to Falconreach, and the Hero, in ''The Final 13th''.
--->'''Sepulchure:''' FALCONREACH! On this day... you will know your place in the order of things. The tale of your destruction.. shall be told for thousands of years! NO ONE stands against the mighty Sepulchure! NO ONE withstands my wrath. Your fate is sealed! Today.. you will witness the birth of a legend! Today... I will destroy EVERYTHING you love. And when your heart is filled with pain and sorrow, and your mind is crushed under the weight of despair... I will claim the Orb of Darkness, and this world shall be MINE. HAHAHAHAHAHA! There is nowhere to run. There is nowhere to hide.
** There also is one PlayedForLaughs, in ''Ex Machina''.
--->'''Sepulchure:''' [[MightMakesRight Might makes right]], and I am VERY mighty. If that gnome who has it now can stop me from taking it, he can keep it.
--->'''Dave v384.16:''' You are the very foolish human, to think that you could exterminate enough of the Cyklons to reach the Energy Orb.
--->'''Sepulchure:''' *''sneer''* You underestimate me, machine. My powers far outstrip those of some buckets of bolts.
--->'''Drakath:''' But... doesn't want to-
--->'''Sepulchure:''' Be quiet, Drakath. [[LampshadeHanging I'm boasting.]]
* BadBoss: He is very unforgiving to his subjects and treats them little better than he treats his enemies, especially [[ButtMonkey Drakath]].
* {{BFS}}: His WeaponOfChoice, the Necrotic Blade of Doom.
* BigBad: For the entirety of Book 1.
* DarkIsEvil: Played straight, where he frequently states he is the darkness.
* TheDragon: Though he's TheFace of the Shadowscythe and the Hero's ArchNemesis s/he considers the BigBad, Sepulchure works for his "Master", [[spoiler:who turns out to be the Mysterious Stranger]], and listens to the Necrotic Blade of Doom's orders.
* TheDreaded
* [[spoiler:EleventhHourRanger: He becomes a party member only when The Hero fights Drakath]].
* EnemyMine: [[spoiler:In the Book 1 finale, The Hero forms an alliance with him to take down Drakath, who has betrayed him and that ''really'' pisses him off.]]
* EvilCounterpart: To The Hero.
* TheFaceless: The top half at least.
* FallenHero: [[spoiler:He used to be the greatest Knight of Pactagonal Table, but lost something dear to him, leading him to turn to darkness.]]
* TheHeavy: To [[BigBad his Master.]]
* HopelessBossFight: The Hero has two chances to fight him, the first time on dragon back where he rides Fluffy, and the second time in person. Both of which are unwinnable.
** In the second battle, he can inflict massive amounts of damage, has more hit-points than the Elemental Avatars by orders of magnitude, enough DamageReduction to reduce your strongest attacks to ScratchDamage, and immediately heals up what little damage you managed to do each turn. Some players figured out a special attack that [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu could actually beat him]], so an ObviousRulePatch was added to make Sepulchure use ManaDrain, preventing said special attack. And even if a player ''does'' figure out a way to defeat Sepulchure, TheBattleDidntCount.
* HumanoidAbomination: It's revealed he doesn't wear his armor, but his armor wears him.
* IControlMyMinionsThrough: Sepulchure uses many methods to control his minions (including authority, MindControl, {{Revenge}}, a Piece of the Action, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking dental]], etc.), but he primarily rules the Shadowscythe with good, old-fashioned '''fear'''. He indulges in ColdBloodedTorture, YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness and YouHaveFailedMe whenever he has the chance (that is, when it won't hinder his plans).
** In ''Walk Through Fire'', Drakath says this to the Hero:
--->'''Drakath:''' There is nothing you can do to me that is worse than the price for failing Sepulchure.
* InTheBack: [[spoiler:Stabbed in the back by Drakath, with his own sword to boot]].
* InvincibleVillain: Comparing an ant with a dinosaur doesn't even begin to describe how much Sepulchure's fighting ability surpasses The Hero's. [[spoiler:It ultimately takes a near DeusExMachina to trigger his VillainousBreakdown. Up till then, Sepulchure handily won every single situation he personally took part in]].
* KickTheSonOfABitch: [[spoiler:He couldn't care less about the evils that Konnan and Xan committed, but he coldly tortures the first to know his secrets, and extinguishes the latter's powers for trying to keep the Fire Orb away from him.]]
* KnightOfCerebus: Prior to Drakonnan showing up, he was by far the darkest villain in the game, who is completely deprived of morality and kills without hesitation. It doesn't help that he's practically invincible as well.
* MeaningfulName: Means "grave" or "tomb".
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: See MeaningfulName.
* NighInvulnerable: Prior to Book 1 finale, he was pretty much completely invincible.
* OmnicidalManiac: [[spoiler:As revealed in ''VideoGame/AdventureQuestWorlds'' and confirmed to be true in Dragonfable as well by Queen Pallor, his plan is to open a portal to the Plane of Darkness, which will cause all of Lore, save those tied to said plane like Vayle, to be devoured by extremely powerful darkness elementals.]]
* OrcusOnHisThrone: [[spoiler:He probably could have resolved the plot in days if he had done his own dirty work in all the important battles, rather than [[SurroundedByIdiots leaving things to his incompetent minions]]. But he is apparently too busy. When he ''does'' get directly involved, he manages to acquire all the [[MacGuffin Primal Orbs]] with no trouble at all and make The Hero look [[FailureHero completely ineffectual]]]].
* PersonOfMassDestruction: For the majority of Book 1, he was the most powerful being in existence, and could level cities if he wished.
* PutOnABus: [[spoiler:In ''An Unlikely Duo'' being his final appearance. Given how ''[=AdventureQuest=] Worlds'' [[DroppedABridgeOnHim go]][[KilledOffForReal es]], it's unlikely that he'll ever come back to ''[=DragonFable=]''.]]
* SayMyName: In ''The Dragon Drakath''.
-->'''Sepulchure:''' DRAKATH!!!
* [[spoiler:UnwittingPawn: To the Mysterious Stranger]].
* [[spoiler:VillainousBreakdown]]: When Drakath [[spoiler:pulls a [[TheStarscream Starscream]] on him]].
* WasOnceAMan: He may have once been human, but that is no longer the case
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: He might be the darkest, evilest, most dangerous villain in the game, but he does have a [[DarkAndTroubledPast tragic backstory]] that explains how he turned out this way, and puts him in a sympathetic light. [[spoiler:Turns out he lost his wife Lynaria, and he turned to the Doom Weapons in the hopes of resurrecting her before he became corrupted. This leads to his AlasPoorVillain moment in the Orb Saga finale, when he gets betrayed by the [[BiggerBad Mysterious Stranger]].]]

Sepulchure's sword.

!!Drakath Slugwrath
Leader of the Dark Wolf bandits, son of the evil king that Alteon deposed, and servant to Sepulchure.
* AllThereInTheManual: Apparently he has been in a relationship with Robina at some point, but it was never made clear in any of the games (except for a very, ''very'' small clue in DragonFable), i.e. when he decides to kill both the Hero and Robina to get the Black Dragon Box. Which seems to be DisproportionateRetribution [[RevengeByProxy against a bystander]] (Robina) if it wasn't because things didn't work out between and he's still hurt by that...
* {{Animorphism}}: [[spoiler:When he becomes Drakath The Darkness Dragon]]
* BadassCape: Drakath wears an awesome, if a bit mistreated, purple cape.
* BadassBoast: In his introduction:
--> '''Drakath:''' My name is DRAKATH! I am the leader of the Darkwolf bandits and the rightful ruler of this land. That box is the key to my throne, and there's no way that I'm letting a peasant like you keep it from me. Stand down or, like the trash that you are, you will be blown away by the winds of my great destiny!
* BerserkButton: He doesn't like people referring to ''his'' throne as Alteon's. It angers him enough that he'll snap ''at Sepulchure''.
* BigNo: In ''Captain's Orders''/''Walk Through Fire'', as the Wind Orb teleports him away from the Hero.
* ButtMonkey
* CatchPhrase: "Impossible."
* CreepyShadowedUndereyes
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: Sepulchure isn't really an EldritchAbomination so much as a InvincibleVillain, but seeing [[spoiler:Drakath impale him on his own sword]] definitely evokes this trope.
* DisneyDeath: [[spoiler:In the Hero's mind, in any case. At the end of Book 1, he turns out to be alive and in an unknown location. For those who play ''[=AdventureQuest=] Worlds'', it was pretty obvious he wouldn't die]].
* TheDogBitesBack: [[spoiler:For all that he's a jerkass, Drakath has had to put up with Sepulchure's [[KickTheDog abuse]] so it's no wonder he'll take the first chance he gets to betray him--which coincides with the one moment Sepulchure lowers his guard.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: After Sepulchure turns Fluffy into a Dracolich, Drakath says: "Master? What have you done?!"
* TheEvilPrince: [[SinsOfOurFathers Most likely because of his father]], Drakath is generally believed to be, like, the next [[TheCaligula Caligula]] and the Kingdom (seemingly) prefers [[TheUsurper Alteon]] to him, [[LoserSonOfLoserDad believing]] [[InTheBlood he'll just]] [[TurnOutLikeHisFather turn out like]] [[TyrantTakesTheHelm the late tyrant king]]. (Not that his quest for power and his {{jerkass}} tendencies, plus his alliance with a bunch of bandits and then an EvilOverlord, help his reputation at all...)
* {{Foreshadowing}}: During the Wind Orb saga, he comes into contact with the Wind Orb which does ''Dragon'' Magic on its own. [[spoiler:In the finale, he finally becomes a dragon (somewhat temporarily), finally aligning to his character in ''[=AdventureQuest=]''.]]
** It also serves as a CallForward to ''VideoGame/AdventureQuest'', where he was an actual dragon ever since his first appearance.
* FusionDance: [[spoiler:He fuses with Fluffy so that his body can handle the Ultimate Orb's power, and becomes an incredibly powerful Darkness Dragon.]]
** Later on, [[spoiler:the Mysterious Stranger merges with his, er, 'remains' to become the "Super Mega Ultra Darkness Dracolich".]]
* GreenEyes: Of the 'envious' variety.
* HarmlessVillain: Most of the time.
* HopelessBossFight:
** When Drakath acquires the Wind Orb, you can fight him in an unbeatable battle. It's not that he's strong or durable, it's just he can't die, as once his health is lowered to 1 HP it doesn't go down any further. And then the Wind Orb will activate and launch a OneHitKill attack on you. Some players found he can be defeated with the Pirate Armor, but even then TheBattleDidntCount.
** After Drakath [[spoiler:fuses with Fluffy and the Ultimate Orb, you can fight him a number of times, but can never beat him, as he possesses insanely high health and can inflict massive damage on you. On the other hand, he resents the Hero for always getting in his way, whether to achieve power or comply with Sepulchure's orders.

* HarmlessVillain: Some of his later appearances (Frostval 2008, Hero's Heart Day 2011) are PlayedForLaughs.
* TheHeavy: He is the main antagonist of the Darkness Orb Saga, but it's made clear there's someone above him in this case Sepulchure.
* ManipulativeBastard: Knowing that the Darkness Orb's power was grafted into a little girl, he created a deadly disease (the Green Mist) to wipe out her village, appear as her saviour and [[BlatantLies tell her that, with necromancy, she'll be able to resurrect her brother]]. She, too young to know any better, decides to everything to have her brother back and is manipulated into creating an undead army.
* {{Necromancer}}
* TheSvengali: To Vayle.
* TreacherousAdvisor: To [[spoiler:Lady Vayle]].

[[folder: The Rose]]
!The Rose
A cult devoted to bringing about the end of magic and the main threat in Book 3.
* AntimagicalFaction
* BanOnMagic: Something they enforce.
* DirtyCop: The Rose are run by a bunch of {{Well Intentioned Extremist}}s, but many members of their martial branch are thoroughly corrupt, accepting bribes and even partaking in banditry.
* DoesNotLikeMagic
* FantasticRacism: Inevitable, as many species such as dragons, moglins, and elves are innately magical creatures.
* EvilLuddite
* GenreBlindness: Many Rose members apparently don't know that mages and other magical classes use magic, and will not realize the Hero is a magic user until questioning them.
* TheGuardsMustBeCrazy: The Rose has mages in its own ranks, and most of their members are too lazy to make sure all magic users are Rose approved. Apparently, this is the reason they don't always try to lock up the Hero on sight, even when the Hero is using a blatantly magical class.
* HypnoTrinket: The Rose enslaves magical creatures to fight for them with special chains.
* TheHunter: Some of the foot soldiers are called "Mana Hunters".
* {{Hypocrite}}: They use magic to fight magic. Of course, it would admittedly be difficult to get rid of it otherwise.
* InexplicablyIdenticalIndividuals: Most of them have either one of three designs, two variants of Mana Hunter and one version of Energizer. A select few with significance to the plot will stand out.
* KnightTemplar: They were created to fight all of the chaos caused by abusive magic users. But they do not limit their targets to evil doers. Even innocent moglins need fear their wrath.
* LuddWasRight: They hate technology the same way they hate magic as the gnomes learn to their surprise and horror. [[MagicFromTechnology Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic after all]].
* TheMagicGoesAway: Their main goal is to end the use of mana.
* TheWitchHunter

!!Arch Magus Jaania
The former love interest of [[LoveTriangle Xan and Warlic]] who they accidentally sealed away in ice. After finally being released, she imprisons Xan, [[SealedGoodInACan Warlic, and the Hero in a block of ice]], founds an AntimagicalFaction called the Rose and becomes the leader of the Mana Hunters in a bid to wipe out magic.
* AndIMustScream: Her imprisonment in an ice crystal, as a result of Warlic and Xan's duel, meant [[FateWorseThanDeath she was conscious the entire time she was trapped in her prison]].
* TheArchmage: Referred to as such.
* BadassBookworm: She appears to be very intellectual, but is one of the most powerful beings on Lore.
* BigBad: Of Book 3.
* {{Bookworm}}
* BreakTheCutie
* BrokenBird: Her time being trapped in the crystal changed her sweet personality, to one that is cold and relentless, as well as developing a deep hatred for magic.
* CostumePorn: Compare her incredibly detailed outfit to Alexander and Warlic's relatively simple robes.
* CrystalPrison: Something Warlic and Xan accidentally did to her and the event that drove her to madness. It takes several centuries until she is finally broken free.
* DespairEventHorizon: [[spoiler:The last thing she saw before being imprisoned was her two best friends fighting. And after she is freed, Xan is a mess, part of Warlic has been split off into a power mad tyrant, and all of Lore is aflame with the rampages of warring elementals.]]
* DisproportionateRetribution: [[spoiler:She imprisons Warlic, Xan, and The Hero in a prison of ice. While her actions against Warlic and Xan are understandable, their freezing of her was not intentional. And all the Hero was guilty of was being a magic user associated with Warlic.]]
* TheDogBitesBack: [[spoiler:Inflicts the same FateWorseThanDeath on Warlic and Xan that they accidentally inflicted on her.]]
* DoesNotLikeMagic
* ForegoneConclusion: Those of you who've played the Save Lymcrest quest chain already know [[AndIMustScream what happens to her]].
* GuiltByAssociation: [[spoiler:WordOfGod confirms that magic is just a tool and is only evil in the hands of evil users. But since Jaania has seen the worst magic can do at the hands of its foolish wielders, she views magic as an inherently harmful force in and of itself.]]
* JerkassHasAPoint: [[spoiler:Magic really has created a lot of problems and even come close to destroying the world a number of times. Though getting rid of it entirely seems a pointless waste, since these problems are more due to the foolishness of its users than any inherent issues. And her organization's hunt against even (mostly) innocent magic users like The Hero makes her come across as a villain.]]
* LoveAtFirstSight: Alexander and Warlic start fighting over Jaania only minutes after they first meet her.
* TheMagicGoesAway: Her ultimate goal.
* TheManBehindTheMan: It is implied that this will be the nature of her relationship with the general of [[AntimagicalFaction The Rose]].
* SealedBadassInACan: [[spoiler:The Professor frees her to help defeat Wargoth. While this does end one threat, [[WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds it turns out to create another due to her weakened sanity]].]]
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses
* UnwittingPawn: Several of the rebels believe that her WellIntentionedExtremist tendencies are the result of being manipulated and lied to by Akanthus.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: [[spoiler:What she does in Book 3 is all for the fate of the world, after seeing the horrors that magic has done. As a result, she plans to destroy it and freezes The Hero away.]]
* WhatTheHellHero: [[spoiler:Gives a big one to Warlic before imprisoning him in ice.]]
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: [[spoiler:When finally freed, it becomes clear that her time imprisoned in ice has not been good for her sanity. At the end of Book 2, she traps Warlic, Xan, and the Hero in a prison of ice and [[TheMagicGoesAway she plans to bring about the end of magic]].]]
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair
* ZettaiRyouiki

!!General Akanthus
Leader of The Rose's mana soldiers.
* TheCorrupter: Senthris implies that Akanthus darkened Saellah's soul.
* TheDragon: To Jaania.
* TheHeavy: Jaania may have founded the Rose, but Akanthus is the most active one in carrying out it's values and hunting down magic users.
* ScaryImpracticalArmor

A dragonrider general 2nd in command to Akanthus.
* CreatorCameo: Tomix, the staffmember, provides his laughter in one cutscene.
* CruellaToAnimals: He thinks of magical creatures, including his soul bound dragon, as lesser beings. He would have put down his dragon had it not been so powerful.
* {{Jerkass}}: Does not treat his soul bound dragon with respect at all.

!!Magus Hansa
The leader of the Rose garrison near Falconreach. While she very firmly believes in the Rose's cause, she does have some concerns about the Rose's occasional brutality and the corruption in their ranks.
* BlindSeer: Her eyesight was destroyed in a magical accident, but she can sense the magic, and by extension, the wills of other people.
* CursedWithAwesome: She views the magic within everyone as a curse. She has been spending much of her time in Surewould forest capturing magical wildlife in hopes of "treating" them.
* DarkIsNotEvil: She can summon shadows to attack, but isn't a villain.
* EnemyMine: She is one of the few Rose members willing to work with the Hero against greater foes.
* HandicappedBadass: Being blind doesn't stop her being a competent fighter. In fact she's one of the most strongest guests the Hero can join up with.
* HeroAntagonist: In a sense she's just a hero on the opposite side as the player. Unlike most Rose members who are {{Well Intentioned Extremist}}s, she does not possess any malice or violent intent. She genuinely want to help those wronged by magic. She even believes that magic practitioners are simply misguided rather than evil, and is willing to let them change their minds on their own.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: She is genuinely trying to help Lore. Human settlements have often been attacked by dragons, {{Necromancer}}s commonly enslave the spirits of the deceased, and her own eyesight was destroyed in a magical accident. As a result, she believes that magic just isn't worth the trouble. Where other members of The Rose try to enslave, imprison, or otherwise get rid of The Hero, she is actually willing to ally with him/her against mutual foes and hopes to bring The Hero to The Rose's side.

!!Magus Z
The mage in charge of enslaving magical beings. [[spoiler: also the golemancer Zadd who was a villan in Frostaval 2009 and 2010]]
* BadassGrandpa: He's quite elderly, but still remains a threat.
* BaldOfEvil
* {{Cooldown}}: He can throw magical devices at you which increase the cooldown time of any special attacks you are currently trying to recharge.
* TheCuckoolanderWasRight: He suspects "Edd" [[spoiler:(actually the Hero disguising as him)]] of being a magic user. But he just ends up making himself look stupid due to being RightForTheWrongReasons (not liking the look of Edd's face).
* EvilGloating: Takes pleasure in taunting Kara for her "bleeding heart" and being unable to resist rescuing her followers held captive. Ironic how [[{{Hypocrite}} he considers magic users to be the monsters]].
* {{Golem}}: He creates them and uses them as bodyguards.
* TheGrinch: [[spoiler: prior to joining the Rose, he was a villain in two Frostaval arcs, under his unabbreviated name, Zadd]]
* GrumpyOldMan
* HarmlessVillain: Back when he was a reoccurring Frostvale villain.
* HypnoTrinket: The chains the Rose uses to enslave magical beings are of his design.
* {{Jerkass}}: Many members of The Rose's leadership are {{Well Intentioned Extremist}}s. But he just seems to take sadistic pleasure in controlling magical beings.
* MeatPuppet: He created shackles that can bend the will of magical creatures he enslaved.
* TookALevelInBadass: Prior to joining the Rose he was mainly a HarmlessVillain who had little clue as to what he was doing. Afterwards, he poses quite a threat.

The Head Officer and Jailer of the Espina Rosa
* BigWhat: After seeing Ed[[spoiler:(player)]] make it through the dungeon.
* DrillSergeantNasty: Disciplines Edd[[spoiler:(The Player)]] by forcing him to fight his way through the dungeon after questioning him
* EmergingFromTheShadows
* HiddenDepths: [[spoiler: He's a lot more on the ball then his first appearances imply, being able to tell Vince was lying when the later accused Edd(the player) of insulting Sofist]]
* TheSocialDarwinist: He has a pronounced disdain for weakness
* WardensAreEvil: Comes with being the jailer of one of the Rose's prisons and a {{Jerkass}}.

!!Private Bradley
Softist's assistant who helps him run Espina Rosa
* BeleagueredAssistant: To Softist
* MookLieutenant: Seems to be this to Softist
* NiceGuy: Takes time to explain the workings of the prison to Edd[[spoiler:(The Player)]] and gives him some helpful advice

Softist's favored soldier who gets away with harassing lower ranked soldiers because of his position.
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: He takes great pride in being the strongest soldier on the Elite Force.
* BaldOfEvil
* TheBully: He often pranks other recruits for fun
** BigBrotherBully: [[spoiler: it is heavily implied that he and the real Edd are brothers]]
* HiddenDepths: He's quite good at stand-up poetry.
* {{Jerkass}}: He's mean and cruel even to his own teammates.
* JerkJock: Given his build, supposed strength, and general {{Jerkass}} personality, he fits this trope to a T.
* RhymesOnADime
* SoreLoser: He cannot stomach defeat of any sort, and will never admit it unless he can get revenge.
* TookALevelInKindness: After Edd[[spoiler:(The Player)]] stays in Espina Rosa he actually stops bullying the other recruits and starts getting along with them, even even doing standup poetry with others

A Rose recruit who has become comatose via food poisoning. [[spoiler:Through the use of a carnivourous Facenommer plant the Sulen'Eska resistance is able to create a mask replicate from his face so that the player can infiltrate Espina Rosa]]
* ConvenientComa: He became comatose after eating some of [[LethalChef Dumplings's]] food, which allows the player to pose as him while infiltrating Espina Rosa.

A Rose recruit who quickly befriends the Hero [[spoiler:when s/he is disguised as Edd]]
* DoomedHometown: A fire started by Xan during the Falconreach Invasion ended up destroying his home village, killing his grandmother. This is what entices him to join the Rose, to prevent such instances from happening again.
* NiceGuy: He is an all around friendly guy and becomes a quick friend of the player[[spoiler:(Though he is unaware of who s/he really is)]]
* TragicKeepsake: He has his grandmother's necklace that he keeps with him. Sam believes this necklace to hold some magical power, believing it to be given to his grandmother by a traveling wizard, while the player is GenreSavvy enough to at least think otherwise, believing the wizard to be no more than a charlatan.

The notorious chef of the Espina Rosa
* LethalChef: There isn't a single person who has eaten his food, without coming out with some serious ailment.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: In the Sulen'Eska saga. The fact that he (unwittingly) poisoned Edd to the point of comatose through his cooking [[spoiler: gives the hero the opportunity to assume his identity and infiltrate Espina Rosa.]]

Saellah's dragon, who while under his command, disagrees with his actions
* ThePowerOfLove: Hopes to provoke a HeelFaceTurn in Saellah with it after Mritha helps her.

!!Magus Neron
The leader of the Rose garrison in Amityville. He intends to keep all its citizens safe.
* FacialHorror: Part of the flesh on the left side of his face is missing, exposing his jaws and teeth.
* GenreSavvy: He [[LampshadeHanging seems aware]] that the player character will help Amityville in future exploits.
** Was able to tell that [[spoiler: Raven was infected with Lycanthropy from the bandaged wound on her arm.]]
** Sent research notes to [[spoiler: Chaney]] knowing he wouldn't be welcome in Amityville to [[spoiler: collaborate on a cure for Lycanthropy]]
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: Seeks to prevent this, telling the villager who suggests giving Thursday up to the monsters that they cannot become worse than the monsters they are fighting.
* InTheHood: His face is obscured in his hood.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: When the Rose first came to Amityville, they protected the village, but also persecuted magic users with their usual KnightTemplar attitude. But when he came to be in charge, the local garrison became more tolerant. Even to the extent of allowing the Hero, who is typically the Rose's enemy, inside. He also calls one of the citizens speaking in the church out after he suggests they exile Thursday because she seems to attract the monster attacks.
** And at the end of ''Blood and Roses'', [[spoiler: he agrees to help hide Raven's lycanthorpy for as long as he can while secretly working with Channey to create a cure. He also acknowledges while the Hero may have encountered the worst of the Rose, that they should covertly visit Swordhaven in order to learn about them better.]]

A Rose recruit in Amityville and a close friend of Thursday's by Book 3
* ActionGirl
* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: During a flashback quest of Amityvale Book 3, you can play as Kid Raven.
* ATragedyOfImpulsiveness: She loses it when [[spoiler: Thursday disappears]]. [[spoiler: When Chaney reveals that he needs her blood to create a cure, she is enraged at the idea of Thursday being experimented on despite Chaney's reassurances and tries to attack. Chaney's werewolf brother then comes to Chaney's defence and bites her, leaving her doomed to become a werewolf herself by the next moon.]]
* {{Badass}}: She takes out countless werewolves before the Hero has even caught up to her.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: The reason why she's so immensely loyal to Thursday.
* BerserkButton: She goes absolutely ballistic when [[spoiler: Thursday disappears.]] The fact that she is her OnlyFriend makes it all the more difficult for her to bear.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Originally from Tkaanie, [[spoiler:Raven had to leave with her parents when her magic powers began to manifest because law there dictated that children with magic powers had to be taken in with the Enchanters' Guild and separated from their parents.]] [[spoiler:They escaped to continent on the east but eventually end up in Doom Wood. Her parents were slain by a glass golem in the middle of the night and Raven manages to escape to Amityville. * DeathGlare: Dishes out plenty.
* {{Determinator}}: [[spoiler: In spite of having recently been bitten,]] she doesn't stop in her search for [[spoiler: Thursday]]
* EnemyMine: While she doesn't outright say it, it's implied she doesn't trust the player because of her/his stance against the Rose. That being said she is willing to put their differences aside to fight the werewolves during the Full Moon War.
* FaceMonsterTurn: After getting bitten by a werewolf, she starts growing purple fur over her face.
* FlowerInHerHair: Has a rose shaped hair pin.
* GirlishPigtails: She usually has these, though her hair briefly gets let down after being bitten by a werewolf and in the final battle during the confrontation with Frydae.
* OddFriendship: With Thursday. As the Hero notices, Thursday loves magic while Raven is part of the Rose cult which hates magic.
* ShockAndAwe: As a Rose Energizer, she has energy type damage.
* YourMakeupIsRunning: Played for Drama. [[spoiler: Her mascara runs down her face when she is in rage after Thursday's disappearance]]

* LoveAtFirstSight: Just as soon as he sees Safiria, he falls head over heels for her. Just like his father. He's also not

* LoveLetterLunacy: Frydae sends his minions to ''kidnap'' two girls claiming to have his letter, when in fact it's Ash who has it and was to deliver it to Safiria.
* AManOfWealthAndTaste: He [[LampshadeHanging actually introduces himself as such]] in the Hero's Hear Day quest, ''The Stakeout''.

* ForgottenFirstMeeting: The Necromantress knows Artix, but doesn't realize she does until she's told his name.
* ForgottenFriendNewFoe: To Artix, though downplayed. [[RedStringOfFate Destiny]] had it they'd clash again as enemies later down the road.

* MyMasterRightOrWrong: She won't say "no" to any order Noxus gives her, even though if it means undoing her own goals in the process.

* {{Necromancer}}
* {{Necromantic}}: [[spoiler:The reason she joined Noxus was because he promised her he would resurrect her brother with Necromancy. This turned out to be a lie, and he had every intent of killing her as soon as she [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness outlived her usefullness]].]]

* WingedHumanoid: She has small, dark red bat-like wings, which signify her ties to [[CastingAShadow Darkness.]]
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: She plays a very big role in the near destruction of the world, but has a DarkAndTroubledPast that paints her very sympathetically. This is further affirmed when she has a HeelFaceTurn and [[EnemyMine teams up]] with the Hero and Artix to take down Noxus.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: She has violet hair.

* ImmortalityHurts: At least the pseudo-immortality he lives with that keeps him in an undead lich state.

* LifeDrinker: He planned to steal life force from HumanSacrifice to recover his flesh while remaining immortal. [[spoiler:After the destruction of the light orb, he needs this just to stay alive]].

The main antagonist of the Fire Orb saga. He starts off as Yulgar's apprentice, then goes down the path to evil after [[spoiler:The Hero tries and fails to save his village and family from the evil dragon Akriloth. This attracts the attention of the evil pyromancer Xan, who further poisons his mind against the forces of good]]. Drakonnan soon becomes one of the most monstrous foes Lore has ever had to face.
* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: The player may play as Drakonnan in a small mini-game during ''The Ultimate Weapon''.
* TheApprentice: Three times. First, he's introduced as Yulgar's blacksmithing apprentice, but during/after his FaceHeelTurn he becomes one to Xan and later, [[spoiler:to "the Professor" in Book 2.]]
* ArmorPiercingQuestion:
-->[[spoiler:'''Wargoth''']]: What makes you rage against the scraps of subconscious, Konnan?
* AscendedDragon: He began as TheDragon to Xan, but ended up [[TheStarscream betraying him]] and becoming the BigBad of the Fire Orb Saga.
* AscendedExtra / AdaptationExpansion: Much like the Great Fire War itself, here he is a fleshed-out character rather than just the CardCarryingVillain that he's in ''{{VideoGame/AdventureQuest}}''. He even undergoes CharacterDevelopment.
* TheAtoner: [[spoiler:After his HeelFaceTurn.]]
-->"It's time to make things right."
* BigBad: Of the second part of the Fire Orb Saga.
* BigNo: Several times over the course of the Fire Orb saga.
* BladeOnAStick: His weapon [[spoiler: As the Apprentice in Book 2.]]
* BlondGuysAreEvil: Played with since he wasn't evil to begin with, and is actually a FallenHero.
* BoisterousWeakling: Comes across like this in ''The Final Battle!'', given that (surprinsingly for a Boss Battle) he speaks four times during the fight (with camera close-ups and all), once he loses a certain amount of HP and gains new attacks--each worse than the last one. However, as the Hero is [[InvincibleHero an invicible one]] [[HopelessBossFight (except when he's not)]] and, by this point, he's [[VillainousBreakdown already breaking down...]]
-->'''Drakonnan:''' "The [[AnIcePerson Ice]] [[LegendaryWeapon Ka]][[KatanasAreJustBetter ta]][[SwordOfPlotAdvancement na]] will not save you. For the flame I wield can never die. -->'''Drakonnan:''' "It seems you will not be killed so easily... Nevermind, though. My powers are beyond your comprehension! FIRE CONSUMES!"
-->'''Drakonnan:''' "ARRGHHHHH!!!! Do you even KNOW what it is you trifle with? [[StrawNihilist Nothing... Nothing matters anymore.]] [[DespairSpeech You... YOU]] [[CrusadingWidower HAVE COST]] [[TheUnfettered ME]] [[DespairEventHorizon EVERYTHING!]] [[MisplacedRetribution YOU WILL SUFFER MY VENGEANCE]]"
-->'''Drakonnan:''' "Now you will feel my full power... NOW you will understand my anger... NOW YOU WILL UNDERSTAND [[IrrationalHatred MY HATRED!]] YOU WILL BURN BEFORE ME AND YOUR ASHES SHALL MARK THE BEGINNING OF MY REIGN! THIS IS... FIRE IMMORTAL!"
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Through his [[TheGift mastery]] [[PlayingWithFire over Fire]], he manages to control many of the heroes battling for the side of Battleon, including Artix himself.
** [[spoiler: In Book 2, Wargoth does this to him to make him fight the hero again.]]
* ChekhovsGun: Back when Xan almost totally destroyed Falconreach, it's implied he has met Xan.
* ColourCodedForYourConvenience: As it's the rule in AE games, Drakonnan wears colours associated to Fire, such as yellow and, oh right, [[FireIsRed red]], once he becomes a [[PlayingWithFire Pyromancer]].
* CoolMask: A red skull mask.
* CoveredInScars: All of his body is covered in scars, such as burns and cuts, as a result of [[spoiler:Sepulchure's likely torture in search of an answer to his talents.]]
* CreateYourOwnVillain: The Hero's failure to save Konnan's family led to his StartOfDarkness.
* CrusadingWidower: Losing his wife (and children) was the cause of his sanity slippage, and Konnan takes it upon himself to avenge them.
* [[spoiler:DisneyVillainDeath]]: Subverted.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Against the Hero. He doesn't just ''kill'' him for letting his family die. No. That's too simple. He obtains the Fire Orb, he masters its use by gathering an army of Fire creatures, getting an fortress for himself and creating new lesser fire orbs. Then, he manages to control heroes and allies of the Hero; he steals the Ice Katana AND he wages one of the worst wars Battleonia has ever seen. In the end, his revenge isn't just killing the Hero, it's making him/her suffer [[RevengeByProxy and the rest of Battleon along with him]].
* DragonWithAnAgenda: He studied under Xan to obtain training, but it's uncertain if he ever intended to stay loyal to his teacher, and is quick to betray him once he [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness outlives his usefulness]].
* EnemyMine: [[spoiler:The threat that Wargoth represents, his own willingness to atone for his sins and his loyalty to the Professor force him to team up with both the Hero and Xan to take down the Infernal.]]
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: [[spoiler: In Book 2, his only goes by "Apprentice" (as in, the Professor's) most likely for ThatManIsDead reasons.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: Upon becoming Drakonnan and putting the mask, he no longer is the man who once helped Yulgar at his forge. He is now consumed by anger, hatred, revenge.
** [[spoiler:HeelFaceTurn: In Book 2.]]
* FailureToSaveMurder: The reason for his FaceHeelTurn.
* FallenHero: Sort of, even though he was more of a common folk rather than a fully dedicated hero prior to his FaceHeelTurn.
* FalseFriend: He has a [[EvilMentor poisonous]] one in [[TheSvengali Xan]], who convinces Konnan that things could have gone differently, but because of carelessness neither Galanoth nor the Hero saved his family from Akriloth. Yet, this is all an over-complicated plan to get ''his own'' revenge on Warlic.
* ForegoneConclusion: For those familiar with ''{{VideoGame/AdventureQuest}}'', it was blindingly obvious that Konnan would eventually become Drakonnan.
* ForgingScene: Twice over the course of the game. In both, he forges an armor for himself--though each event has wildly different meanings for him.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: A young blacksmith's apprentice who becomes a incredibly powerful Pyromancer upon the death of his family and razes (more or less) half a continent.
* TheGift: Despite training his magic (and pyromancy) for so little, he manages to the use the power of the Fire Orb to its fullest, using it to corrupt minds and hearts of Battleon's heroes, creating more orbs and controlling an entire army of creatures aligned to Fire. Xan, a skilled Pyromancer with two-hundred years of practice [[ThatOneBoss and almost killed the Hero once]], is ''jealous'' of him. (...Or just plain angry at him, [[RageAgainstTheMentor for his]] [[SurpassedTheTeacher betrayal.]])
** Even Sepulchure acknowledges his gift:
--->'''Sepulchure:''' You, Konnan, were able to draw more power from the Orb than anyone... [[ColdBloodedTorture and I'm going to take you apart]] '''''[[ColdBloodedTorture piece]]''''' [[ColdBloodedTorture by]] '''''[[ColdBloodedTorture piece]]''''' [[ColdBloodedTorture to find out how]].
* GoodScarsEvilScars: [[spoiler:His body in Book 2 is covered in scars, either from falling in the lava or from Sepulchure's torture. However, since he's on the Professor's side (who is on the Hero's side), they symbolize his change in attitude and his willingness to atone for his sins.]]
* HappilyMarried: To his wife, [[TooHappyToLive until her death.]]
* HeelFaceTurn: He seems to have reformed in Book 2, under the guidance of the Professor.
* IrrationalHatred: Towards the Hero. Konnan knows damn well that the Hero couldn't save his family, and ''why'' he couldn't: because Akriloth was [[HopelessBossFight nigh invicible]] with the Fire Orb in his possession. And so, not only [[SurvivorsGuilt he blames himself]], but he uses the Hero as a scapegoat to blame someone out of an emotional need... [[TeachHimAnger and]] [[TheSvengali Xan's]] [[FalseFriend words.]]
* KickTheSonOfABitch: [[spoiler:Sepulchure couldn't care less about what Konan's done, but he takes the Fire Orb from him, gives it to Xan and finally is seen transforming into a monster as Konnan screams. Cue his reappearance full of scars later down the line. Let's say he had it coming.]]
* KillItWithFire: [[spoiler:Poor Demento]].
* KnightOfCerebus: His [[DarkAndTroubledPast tragic backstory]], his immense power, and his relentlessness makes him one of the darkest villains in the game, rivaled only by Sepulchure. Drakonnan's threat (and the Fire Orb quest-chain itself) signifies the moment where the Orb Saga (Book 1) has a ToneShift and [[CerebusSyndrome becomes much more serious]] than it previously was (even if there's a bit of comedy here and there.) He's also the first villain to permanently kill off a hero, in his case Demento.
* KubrickStare: He gives one after being defeated by the hero and taking off his helmet.
* MeaningfulRename: The moment he starts calling himself 'Drakonnan' is a [[OhCrap bad thing]] for everyone involved.
* MisplacedRetribution: Instead of avenging his family by killing Akriloth (their murderer), he instead wants revenge on the Hero for failing to save them. To be fair, Akriloth was already dead by the time he got his powers, and so he needed a scapegoat for his grief. Too bad that was the Hero [[DisproportionateRetribution ...and the rest of Battleon.]]
* MythicalMotifs: As with many characters in AE games, Drakonnan's motif is that of a dragon. (Or a demon, alternatively.) Like a dragon, he's solitary, violent, [[PLayingWithFire fiery]], dangerous.
* NoodleIncident: Whatever happened to him between [[spoiler:the fall of Sepulchure's tower in the Book 1 finale, his armor scattered in a beach and his re-appearance in ''Elemental Dissonance'' with kanji tattooed on his shoulders and the Professor's trust]] remains to be revealed.
* NotSoDifferent: His actions against the Hero twists him into a monster [[NotSoDifferent just as bad as]] (maybe, even worse than) Akriloth was. After all, Drakonnan's armies also burned down villages (and families) during the war as well...
* OneWingedAngel: [[spoiler:As Zorbak throws the Fire Orb to him in exchange for his throne, Drakonnan becomes (or at least, projects) a Titan version of himself.]]
* PlayingWithFire: He is an extremely powerful fire mage, trained by Xan himself.
* PutOnABus: Twice. [[spoiler: First during the Fire War Epilogue, in which he becomes Sepulchure's prisoner, and second, when the Professor 'sacrifices' his individuality and merges with Wargoth to become Warlic. However, as the Hero is frozen in ice by Jaania, Konnan hasn't been seen ever since.]]
* TheQuietOne: [[spoiler:Throught the duration of ''Elemental Dissonance'', Konnan only has eighteen lines: two of which are thoughts, six of which are ellipses, and one is a guttural sound of pain/distress. Yeah, he doesn't speak much.]]
* RageAgainstTheMentor: [[spoiler:He is not pleased upon realizing Xan is only using him to get ''his'' revenge against Warlic]].
* {{Revenge}}: ...Against the Hero is his motive throughout the Fire Orb saga.
* RevengeBeforeReason: He chooses to think the Hero, Galanoth, Demento ''willingly'' fail in killing Akriloth, thanks to certain pyromancer, and [[AxCrazy acts]] [[RoaringRampageofRevenge accordingly]].
* SanitySlippage: Though we can't see his face, it's safe to say he is emotionally unstable and starts to lose it as he uses the Fire Orb, ending in his VillainousBreakdown in ''The Last Battle!'', where barely resembles the man who once was Yulgar's apprentice.
* SurpassedTheTeacher: As he reveals his possession of the Fire Orb to Xan, not only he manages to amass an army, but also control plasma dragons. In ''Battle for the Eastern Hills!'', he even says "[[StockPhrase The student has surpassed the teacher.]]"
* SurvivorsGuilt: He is full of this. (And anger, too, but you know.) Though he blames others who had the fighting skill necessary to take Akriloth down (read: The Hero), he also blames himself for being away from home for too long.
-->'''Konnan:''' I... I can't believe they're gone. My whole family wiped out... I've been gone so long... It seems like I've spent years just standing around in Yulgar's forge, when I should have been home. If... if I had been home....
* TookALevelInBadass: By learning pyromancy from Xan.
** [[spoiler:When he's in your party, he's capable of killing monsters weak to fire with lots of HP in one attack.]]
* TookALevelInJerkass
* TrainingMontage: In ''Lair of the Guardian''. Complete with a ''[[{{Music/Europe}} The Final Countdown]]''-inspired song.
* VillainTeleportation: Drakonnan is capable to able to [[TeleportersAndTransporters teleport]] in a flurry of fire. (Though he's probably able to do so only thanks to the Fire Orb.)
* VillainousBreakdown: After you defeat him in combat during ''The Final Battle'', when his mask finally falls off, his hair is a mess and generally has an [[CreepyShadowedUndereyes unhealthy look]] to him. In fact, as the player battles him, his dialogue start to sound more and more like a breakdown than BadassBoast.
* WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer: Like Xan, he can only use [[PlayingWithFire Fire-elemental]] magic spells to attack his enemy.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Quite a literal example, as he very nearly brought about the end of Lore. Though his tragic backstory makes him very sympathetic, with even the hero feeling sorrow for Konnan's downfall.

* MindScrew: Sleeping inside the Locker- not a ''good'' idea.
* MirrorMatch: Makes you fight [[spoiler: 'Evil You'!]]

* EvilVersusOblivion: [[spoiler:Partially why he teams up with the Hero, Konnan, and the Professor to take down Wargoth.]]
* FalseFriend: To Konnan. And a [[PoisonousFriend poisonous one]] at that, too. Xan convinces him that things could have gone differently, but because of ''carelessness'' neither Galanoth nor the Hero saved his family from Akriloth. Yet, this is all an over-complicated plan to get ''his own'' revenge on Warlic.
* FlamingSkulls: Xan's [[SkullForAHead head]] is constantly engulfed in healing fire, as a result of his and Warlic's duel back when they were young. (Well, Xan was young. Warlic, not so much. More {{Jerkass}}, if anything.) They are the only thing keeping him alive, even though at the same time, [[HarmfulHealing they inflict pain on him]]. It's no wonder they went mad.
* ForTheEvulz
* HopelessBossFight: During his first introduction where he wielded the Pyronomicon, he is considered unbeatable. Even if you found a method the developers never thought of, TheBattleDidntCount. It took a whole saga later where the effects of the Pyronomicon were negated by Warlic before the fight becomes more fair.

* PlayingWithFire: It's the very thing which sustains his life.
* PutTheLaughterInSlaughter: He kills, and it's all a joke to him.
* PyroManiac: It is hinted that as a child he had trouble with, er, 'controlling' his Fire magic, and so tried to suppress it. For a while, he instead tried to master [[AnIcePerson Ice magic]], but after the incident in which he gained his flames and his self-control became [[{{Understatement}} poorer]], he gave in to pyromania and became the man he is now.
* RagTagBunchOfMisfits: In Book 2 where he teams-up with [[spoiler: The Professor, Konnan, and the Hero. Considering two of which were his greatest adversaries.]]

The AnthropomorphicPersonification of Envy. [[spoiler: Is revealed to be Tomix's Soul Ally Aspar.]] He journeyed to Ynnungaap, in order to reach the void core, [[spoiler:so that he could set it loose and kill all life, so that everyone could be a spirit like him.]]
* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: Several of the quests in the Book 3 portion of the Tomix Saga, Envy is the playable character.
* {{Badass}}: Envy is very powerful, as seen when he's the playable character. His abilities rival that of Tomix's, who is a {{Badass}} in his own right.
* BadassArmfold: As Envy he almost always has his arms folded.
* BadBoss: He is extremely cruel and unforgiving to his minions.
* BecomeARealBoy: Pandora was sterile, had lost her husband, and was lonely, so she created a son out of a fragment of her own soul. The result was not human, but a spirit. Because Pandora had created him while she was angry at the world, he grew envious of real humans and even killed a few. His ultimate goal is to become an actual human, and he is currently using [[spoiler:Tomix's stolen lifeforce]] to do so.
* [[spoiler:BigBadFriend]]
* BigBad: Of the Book 3 portion of the Tomix Saga.
* BiggerBad: Greed was the BigBad of Ravenloss Book 1, but it's revealed Envy was the one who created him and the other corrupted elemental spirits. Making him the antagonist above them all, who had far bigger plans in motion.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: [[spoiler:Pretended to be the elemental spirit of kindness, and was Tomix's Soul Ally for an extensive period of time.]]

* GreenAndMean: To fit the "green with envy" motif.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: [[spoiler:Says this as the end of his existence nears.]]
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:Tomix pulls off a HeroicSacrifice to banish him.]]
* KnightOfCerebus: He has been responsible for some of the most horrific, remorseless evil deeds in the game. These include capturing humans, torturing them, and extracting their essence and then binds them to an elemental soulthread thereby turning them into a HumaoidAbomination that is loyal to him. Later he uses a DangerousForbiddenTechnique as locking mechanism for the door, which uses "the very existence of those two people in order to lock the door shut" and the only way to unlock the door is to kill the innocent people.
* LackOfEmpathy: He remorselessly kills humans in order to extract their elemental core and weave them into his minions.
* MadeOfEvil: He was literally manifested from all of the negative emotions of Pandora's soul.
* ManipulativeBastard
* PutThemAllOutOfMyMisery: [[spoiler:He eventually decides that if he can't be human, then he will kill everyone else so that they will be spirits too.]]
* SelfMadeOrphan: [[spoiler:He drained Pandora's lifeforce to create 6 other corrupted elemental spirits, ultimately killing her.]]
* ShadowArchetype: To Tomix. [[spoiler:Especially after he uses Tomix's elemental essence to turn himself into an evil version of Tomix.]]
* WalkingSpoiler
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: Envy's minions were created by killing humans, extracting their essence, and weaving them into new elements. Green is able to remember the live of the human that was killed to create him, as well as the fact he had a daughter who was now parent-less. He wonders if the daughter is now an orphan, or if he is now her father.

A human Chaosweaver from Pellow Village and the leader an army of Chaosweavers in the first part of the Ravenloss Saga. [[spoiler: After the time skip, he has lost his army, along with his magic and power. Through some reverse psychology from Tomix and the Hero, he ends up as the Navigator of the [=VS=] Unity.]]
* AGodAmI: He considered himself to be this
* AffectionateNickname: Vaal calls his [=SoulAlly=] Alraia, "Alee".
* AllMenArePerverts: He tries to touch Captain Mazurek's butt. She [[PervertRevengeMode kicks him to the ground]].
* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: In the ''Murky Hall'' quest, the player may be equipped the 'Vaal' armor and then, there's the Vaaloirr saga.
* TheAlcoholic: Takes to drinking [[DrowningHisSorrows out of frustration]] during Book 3.
** His [[HitPoints HP]]/[[{{Mana}} MP]] [[HealingPotion pot]][[ManaPotion ion]] [[HealThyself drinking]] animations during battle show him drinking from the same (alcohol-filled) bottles he had during ''The Navigator''.
** During his stay in Tomix's [=VS=] Unity, he can normally seen drinking.
* {{Badass}}: Only resident in Pellow Village capable of not succumbing to Void madness/insanity despite his extended exile in there, unlike all of the other Chaosweavers (who were forced to separate themselves from their emotions.) If that doesn't spell "badass," then perhaps his overpowered attacks against Void monsters (or anything really...) or his apparent immunity to a soul-eating spirit does.
* BadassBeard
* BadassCape: Wears a dark red cape with skulls and spikes during Book 1 and sports it again in Book 3, [[spoiler:on his "soul reflection" when he refuses to let Roirr win his body over.]]
* BadassFingersnap: One of his attacks called "Implosion" involves him sending a ball of energy to his enemies, where it will explode on at a snap of his fingers.
* BeardOfSorrow: Though undoubtedly a [[BadassBeard badass one]], during Book 3 his beard has
* BerserkButton: He apparently dislikes the idea of being associated to Soulsmithing due to his ancestor, Oyva—at least, enough to snap at Roirr for the insinuation.
* BlackEyesOfCrazy: Vaal has black sclera with [[RedEyesTakeWarning red pupils]], which apparently disappeared after losing his magic and power.
* BlackMagic: Vaal is well-versed in black magic pertaining to souls and spirits, as shown by his awareness of the Seal of Ativa and knowledge about Tanislav's Last Will (claiming that, if it were him, [[{{Jerkass}} he'd seal the doors]] and [[SadisticChoice force the heroes]] to [[HumanSacrifice kill an]] [[DoomedHometown entire village]] to ''make'' a key.)
* BreakTheHaughty: [[spoiler:The destruction of the Judgement Wheel, which brought about the loss of his magic, his power and his army of Chaosweavers, and ending up imprisoned again and studied by The Rose, who concluded he was ''[[MortalityEnsues mortal]]'']] really [[HumiliationConga did a number on him]] (and not in a pleasant way, considering how he [[TheAlcoholic took to alcohol abuse]], instead of a much-needed fat slice of HumblePie.)
** [[spoiler:His body hijacked by immoral demonic spirit (who is, in fact, one of his ancestors) and witnessing all kinds of forbidden magic and the death of Alraia]] can't be a good thing either.
* BroughtDownToBadass: Though he lost his magic and powers, he still has the knowledge he has gained through his long life AND has a [=SoulAlly=] through whom he can do chaosweaving magic, like... he's still insanely powerful anyway. Vaal, of course, disagrees.
-->'''Tomix:''' But... but you're still a Chaosweaver...
-->'''Vaal:''' The ''weakest'' Chaosweaver.
* CarpetOfVirility: Type 1. Combined with his buff, muscular physique, it emphasizes his [[TestosteronePoisoning manliness]] and [[{{Badass}} badassery]].
* CreepyShadowedUndereyes
* DrowningHisSorrows: When he's first found in Book 3, Vaal is very much drunk from moglinberry juice, and ranting about his lost magic and power and scaring everyone out of the Inn in Hunter's Paradise.
* EnemyMine: He is forced to join the Hero and Tomix as part of the Void Ship crew.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: After helplessly watching as Roirr [[spoiler:hijacked his body and tried to consume his soul, used forbidden magic to rip Izbor's heart and take on his appearance, ''ate'' Alraia and revealed his intentions to consume more souls for sustenance, and gave an breaking speech (''just'' so that Vaal would 'realize' how much of a failure he was during what Roirr believed would be last conscious moments) only to show the extent to which he controls his body... all without apparently an ounce of regret]], Vaal is understandably ''upset'' at what Roirr is doing.
--> '''Vaal:''' You... [[YoureInsane you are insane.]] You are a demented... psychopath!
* EvilLaugh: One which is audible. It even serves as one of his attacks.
* FamousAncestor: Vaal's a descendant of Oyva, founder of Soulsmithing, who is, in turn, a son to Roirr, the First Weaver, who is the son of Tanislav, best known for a BlackMagic [[RitualMagic ritual]] known as "Tanislav's Last Will."
* HappilyMarried: To Olizabeth, sort of. What happened to her is a mystery.
* HerdHittingAttack: His skill, Embracement, not only deals [[BladeSpam five hits]] to one enemy, but it also targets all of them and hit each of them once for either 200% (as in, to normal monsters) or 600% (to ???-dealing monsters) damage.
* HowTheMightyHaveFallen: Vaal had magic, power, immortality and an army of Chaosweaver at his disposal, cue an HumiliationConga so that he loses almost all that he has to become a [[TheAlcoholic alcoholic]] [[CrazyHomelessPeople vagabond]] who can only long for the GloryDays. (...Even though [[BroughtDownToBadass he still]] ''[[BroughtDownToBadass is]]'' [[BroughtDownToBadass a Chaosweaver.]])
* InsufferableGenius: Considers ([[spoiler:or considered, as of ''The Navigator'']]) himself "the most prodigious mage of all time," in [[CapsLock all caps]] [[LargeHam letters]], and really won't pass up the chance to remind anyone how great he is. He does have the skills and knowledge to back his claims up, though.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Really could not give a damn about anyone else.
* {{Jerkass}}: It comes with being as [[{{Narcissist}} narcissistic]] as he is. In fact, in ''Murky Hall'', he claimed he would've [[SadisticChoice forced]] the heroes to use [[BlackMagic Tani]][[HumanSacrifice slav's]] [[PoweredByAForsakenChild La]][[ImMelting st]] [[DoomedHometown Will]] in order to open a sealed door if it were him, instead of Envy.
* KickTheSonOfABitch: After ditching [[spoiler:Captain Mazurek and her crew during ''Second Seal'', he ends up being possessed by Roirr in ''Murky Hall''.]]
* LargeHam
* {{Narcissist}}: Perhaps the defining trope of Vaal. Roitt describes him as "a man so full of himself that the only thing he's ever loved was his reflection." As a result Vaal can easily be distracted with flattery, which the Hero fully utilizes.
* PlayingWithFire
* {{Pride}}: Vaal...

* TeethClenchedTeamwork: With Tomix, the Hero, Captain Mazurek and the rest of the [=VS=] Unity's crew.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Roirr delivers one after Vaal calls him [[YouMonster a monster]] and questions his motivations during ''Inner unSelf'', to which he can only reply "Stop."
* WeaponOfChoice: His [[PlayingWithFire Fire-elemental]] {{BFS}}, Trascendence.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Vaal has dark green-ish hair.
* YouMonster: Vaal [[EvenEvilHasStandards is not amused]] after seeing Roirr [[spoiler:''eating'' Alraia, and like ''everything'' else Roirr has done ever since he hijacked his body. A Murk and the "First Weaver."
* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: The Vaaloirr saga, located in Tkaanie, follows his [[GrandTheftMe possession]] of Vaal's body with absolutely no intervention from the Hero, with the player controlling Roirr during battle.
* ArchnemesisDad: To his son Baltael.
* AscendedExtra: He had a few random cameos in Book 1 Ravenloss as Murk, and also opened up a shop in Pellow Village. In Book 3 he has a far more important role when it's revealed he's Roirr, the first Weaver.
* ApologeticAttacker: He apologises to his victims before killing them or putting them through a FateWorseThanDeath.
* {{Badass}}: He's just as powerful as Vaal was, as can be seen when the player plays as him in the Vaaloirr saga.
* BadassFingersnap: Much like Vaal, he has an attack that that involves snapping his fingers, called "Soulburst".
* BeardOfSorrow
* BlackMagic: He knows forbidden magic.
* DisappearedDad: Eventually disappeared, breaking all contact with his three children.
* FaceStealer: After stealing a man's heart, he uses forbidden magic to take on his appearance.
* GrandTheftMe: He steals Vaal's body.
* HeartTrauma: He steals the heart of man, so he can use BlackMagic to take on his appearance.
* KnightOfCerebus: Envy was bad enough as it is, but Roirr waltzes right in and is ten times worse. [[DemonicPossession Taking over Vaal's body]], stealing another man's heart to take on his appearance, and summoning Vaal's [=SoulAlly=] before eating her.

[[folder: Holiday Characters]]

!!Bubble, Bubble, Toil, and Trouble [[MyFriendsAndZoidberg (and Myx)]]
A quartet of Witch sisters and their cauldron who make candy almost every [[YouMeanXmas Mogloween]]
* ActionGirl: As shown in the Mogloween 2010 event, "Resident Sneevil", they're quite skilled at combat when required.
* AnimateInanimateObject: Myx is a talking cauldron.
* AnimalTalk: The spell that restores the cured Bubble's ability to speak, causes the non-cursed Bubble to only able to speak kitty.
* TheAtoner: The Bubble Twin restored from a cat becomes this after changing back to human and realizing the wrongs she inflicted on other, and genuinely tries to make it up.
* BalefulPolymorph:
** One of the Bubbles was accidentally turned into a cat by [[NoodleIncident one of their spells a long time ago]]. She does not take it well. She eventually decides that if she is stuck as a cat, ''everyone'' should be so she won't feel out of place, and teams up with Sally to attempt it. After many many years, the curse is finally mostly reversed by TrueLovesKiss between her and Verlyrus.
** The other Bubble Twin is temporarily inflicted with a portion of the same curse, resulting in her only being able to say Meow, and later turning her into an [[PettingZooPeople anthropomorphic cat]].
* BigLittleSister: The cursed Bubble Twin looks and acts older than the other, but is apparently a few seconds younger. The Hero theorizes that her time spent in cat form accelerated her ageing.
* CatGirl: When the cursed Bubble finally gets the curse mostly lifted, a few cat traits remain, namely her eyes and ears, not to mention some whisker like markings.
* CuteWitch: The non-cursed Bubble Twin in particular, who still looks like a young girl.
* DumbBlonde: The cursed Bubble Twin seems to think of the non-cursed Bubble as one. She does occasionally make ditzy moves like kissing Andy and getting infected, or eating the foul tasting Zardbie cure candy.
* ElementalPowers: Each of the Sisters attacks with a different element. For Bubble it's [[LightEmUp light]], Toil it's [[AnIcePerson ice]], and Trouble it's [[PlayingWithFire fire]].
* FighterMageThief: Roughly the classes they have when they're party members. Bubble is a Soul Weaver, Toil is a rogue, and Trouble is a mage.
* GoodWingsEvilWings:
** Trouble has a pair of wings attached to her head.
** When the Bubble Twin stuck as a cat gets her curse partially reversed, she grows a pair of bat wings.
* GorgeousGorgon: A variation of, the non-cursed Bubble is a [[TokenMiniMoe young girl]] whose hair ends in snakes. When the other Bubble's human form is finally revealed, she is shown to have a lesser version of the same thing.
* HeelFaceTurn: The cursed Bubble turns over a new leaf after she changes back to human.
* HotWitch: All of them qualify, though Toil fits the appearance best.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: The Bubble Twin stuck as a cat has been stuck that way for a very long time. Since trying to turn everyone else into cats didn't work out, she eventually expresses this to Sally.
* KungFuWizard: They're shown to be quite capable of physical combat on top of sorcery in Mogloween 2010.
* LongLived: After the {{Timeskip}}, Bubble still has the appearance of a little girl, even when several other kids from Book 1 had grown up. Discussion of both Bubbles' ages suggest that the sisters do age, but likely at a slower pace than normal humans.
* OlderThanTheyLook: It's never made clear just how old they are, though they are likely much older than they physically appear and may age at a reduced speed compared to normal humans. As even after the TimeSkip Bubble still has the appearance of a young girl.
* OneSteveLimit: Both of the twins are named Bubble, which can get confusing at times as to which one is being referred to. The usual solution is the Sisters adding "the cat one" when referring to the cursed Bubble. They explain the reason is that their parents weren't very creative.
* PolarOppositeTwins: The Bubble twins couldn't be more different. The non-cursed Bubble is naive, cheerful, and bubble, while the cursed Bubble is serious, mature, and mischevious.
* PrehensileHair: The non-cursed Bubble is able to use her snake hair to hold things, like candy that she's eating, if her hands are occupied.
* QuestGiver: For the majority of the Mogloween Quests.
* SpeaksFluentAnimal: The cursed Bubble is able to understand kitty, even after changing back to human.
* TalkingAnimal: The cursed Bubble becomes one in Mogloween 2011, after regaining the power to speak human while still in cat form.
* TrueLovesKiss: What restores the cursed Bubble Twin mostly back to normal. Though since the one she kissed was a natural cat, that ends up making him sad.
* ThemeTwinNaming
* WhatTheHellHero: She calls out her sisters ([[TheAtoner and herself]]) for not taking responsibility for their screwups and making things right with all the people they have harmed.

A very CreepyChild originating from Moonridge. She eventually takes over the Necropolis, dabbles in BlackMagic, and becomes an antagonist for many of the holiday quests.
* BrattyHalfPint
* BigBad: She is the most frequent antagonist of Mogloween, showing up at least every 2 years to cause trouble. She's an odd case due to being ObliviouslyEvil, rather than possessing malicious intent.
* ChildProdigy: She is sufficiently good at magic that she was able to drive Vayle, of all people, away.
* CreepyChild: Even before she started dabbling in BlackMagic, she liked to play around with the remains of fallen undead. She later works with the evil Bubble twin to enchant the candy, turning everyone who eats it into creepy little girls to be her friends.
* CreepyDoll: She manufactures a bunch of them at the conclusion of Moglomoglween 2014.
* FreakyIsCool: She had a habit of collecting zombie parts, and thought the Necropolis would make a great doll's house.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Once a little girl in Moonridge who was deemed weird, but eventually becomes the owner of the Necropolis and the master of all the undead creatures that reside there.
* {{Necromancer}}: Becomes one after taking over the Necropolis.
* ObliviouslyEvil: She regards her depraved activities in the same way a normal child would regard a game.
* OddFriendship: With the Bubble twin that was cursed as a cat.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Not at first, but by the {{Timeskip}}, she still looks the same as she did before, even as several other children you knew grew into adults. Apparently she used BlackMagic to refuse growing up.

!!Red Queen, SALL-IE
* BigBad: Of the 2010 Mogloween, "Resident Sneevil" arc.
* DeusEstMachina: She's a AI of a facility where an outbreak originated, and plots to conquer the world with her infected army.
* CaptainErsatz: Of the Red Queen from [[Franchise/ResidentEvil Resident Evil]].
* FunWithAcronyms: "SALL-IE" stands for: '''S'''uperior '''A'''lert '''L'''ogical '''L'''ink '''I'''nformation '''E'''ntity.

An elite taskforce that was formed during the Zardbie outbreak, tasked with containing the infected and helping survivors.
* {{Badass}}: They're formed from the greatest heroes in Lore, on par with the main character. Especially the Baron who defeated a dragon with a toothpick, a cube of ice, and a shield made of meat.
* BadassAdorable: When they've been turned into cats, they can still efficiently fight monsters.
* BadassCrew
* BalefulPolymorph: They all get turned into adorable little cats during Mogloween 2012, by Sally and the Bubble twin cursed as a cat. [[spoiler:In Mogloween 2015, the recently uncursed Bubble reveals that they were still stuck as cats for all those years (including the TimeSkip), and to make up for her actions she has the Hero deliver some cure candy to them. Though it turns out [[BlessedWithSuck most of them didn't actually mind being cats]].]]
* BlessedWithSuck: After spending so many years as cats, most of them don't seem to mind it anymore and enjoy the perks; such as no longer having to pay for food, playing with Lucy, and not having to fight monsters on a regular basis.
* MeatShield: As a joke, the Baron carries around a shield literally made out of meat.
* NiceHat: Several of them wear hats, which [[AccessoryWearingCartoonAnimal stay with them after they turn into cats]].
* RagTagBunchOfMisfits: They're all various classes from various locations banded together.
* ShoutOut: All of them are based off real-life forum users on DF forums.

* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: You can briefly play as [=DeathArrows=] in one of the Mogloween 2012 quests, where the M.O.P. cats try to reach Croft in an attempt to get cured.
* ArcherArchetype: If his name wasn't obvious enough, he carries a bow and is a marksman.
* AwesomeMcCoolname: Though it might be a nickname.
* BadassAdorable: While playing as [=DeathArrows=] as a cat, he's not only can continue fighting but is more powerful than the Hero, as his attacks can inflict multiple critical hits in one turn.
* BalefulPolymorph: He's one of the M.O.P. who gets turned into a cat.
* CircusBrat: Deatharrows was part of a traveling circus before joining the team, where he was an archer.
* DarkIsNotEvil: He does darkness type damage and dresses in black attire.
* NiceHat: Wears a black fedora, which [[AccessoryWearingCartoonAnimal stays with him after turning into a cat]].
* OnlySaneMan: The only one of the M.O.P. cats who seems to dislike the curse.

* ArrogantKungFuGuy: He goes out of his way to let others know just how awesome he and his chainsaw sword are.
* ChainsawGood: He carries around a giant chainsaw, well actually [[MixAndMatchWeapon a sword with a chainsaw as the blade]], which he always boasts about. When he gets turned into a Zardbie, the Hero calls dibs on it.
* HeroicSacrifice: He sacrifices himself to let Andy escape when a zardbie attacks, he gets infected in the process.
* IdiotHero: He swears to guard Andy with his chainsword, but then falls asleep on the job, allowing a girl to sneak by him and get infected.
* LargeHam: He never stops reminding everyone how awesome his chainsaw sword is.
* MeaningfulName: He carries around chainsaw sword and is named "Chainsword".
* ZombieInfectee: He is one of the first to get infected by the zardie virus in Mogloween 2011.

A young boy who was the carrier for the zardbie virus back in Mogloween 2011
* ChickMagnet: A kid version, many girls his own age are attracted to him, which inadvertently leads to them making physical contact with him and causing them to become infected.
* TheImmune: But still a carrier, which caused him to infect anyone he made physical contact with.
* MismatchedEyes: His eyes are blue and green.

!!Icemaster Yeti
* TheGrinch: Formerly
* HeelFaceTurn: Goes from kidnapping the Frostvale Moglins, to becoming their friend

!!Frostvale Moglins
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: A village of them

!!Big Daddy
* FauxAffablyEvil: He isn't exactly a villain, but he has many questionable acts hidden behind his public figure.
* OddFriendship: With Rhubarb and True Mortal, the latter of which was the bartender of the 2014 Love Ship.
* OlderThanTheyLook
* TheMatchmaker: Or at least, he tries to be
* ThePowerOfLove: He firmly believes in it.
* QuestGiver: Big Daddy is the Hero's Heart Day NPC by excellent, and the one who mostly gives the quests.
* ThirdPersonPerson
* WillNotTellALie: PlayedForLaughs in ''Hero's Hero 2014'':

!!Baron Au'Mydas Bayconn
The villain of the 2010 and 2012 Lucky Day wars. Formerly King Alteon's Royal Treasurer, until he was given the ability to turn anything he kissed into gold and promptly went over to the dark side.
* CaptainErsatz: An obvious parody of Midas from Myth/ClassicalMythology.
* GoodHairEvilHair: Goatee + Fu Manchu moustache = EVIL.
* {{Greed}}: His defining character trait.
* {{Jerkass}}: [[LampshadeHanging Pointed out]] by Zorbak, [[EvenEvilHasStandards of all people]].
-->'''Zorbak''': [[HypocriticalHumour Hey you. You're a jerk]].
* TheMagicTouch: More like The Magic ''Kiss''.
* MeaningfulName: "Mydas" is a reference to King Midas and "Au" is the symbol that represents gold on the periodic table. The "Bayconn" part is [[LargeHam pretty self-explanatory]].
* MoneyFetish: He ''really'' likes gold.
* LargeHam: At one point becomes a literal example (see the entry for PigMan, below).
* PigMan: The Irismancer turns him into a PigMan after he fails to defeat The Hero.
* PunnyName: See the entry for MeaningfulName.
* WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity: Unlike the other examples on this page, it's PlayedForLaughs.
-->'''Au'Mydas''': You stole my gold! Give it back! Gold gold, must hold gold!
-->'''Guard Nomas''': [[CrowningMomentOfFunny Quiet, you. The sane people are talking]].

!!Baron Jaysun Valtrith
A figure revered in a cult who appeared when the essences of various villains had been gathered
* AllYourPowersCombined: He was created as the result of a cult combining the essence of all of the greatest villains in the game, including Sepulchre, Xan, the Necromantress, Queen Aisha, Sek Duat XV, and Yalla.
* BigBad: Of the Friday the 13th Events in Book 3.
* DarkIsEvil: Played straight. He is literally cloaked in LivingShadow.
* GenericDoomsdayVillain: He was just created to be the ultimate evil entity, and doesn't really have any other drive or backstory behind why he's doing this.
* EldritchAbomination
* {{Expy}}: Appearance wise he's a mashup between [[Franchise/FridayThe13th Jason Voorhees's mask]], [[Franchise/ANightmareOnElmStreet Freddy Krueger's clawed gloves]], as well as Main/{{Dracula}}'s cape and overall body shape. His full name "Jaysen Valtrith" even sounds a bit like Jason Voorhees.
* FusionDance: With one of his followers
* GodOfEvil: God may be pushing it, but the fact that he has a whole cult under him brings up similarities.
* HopelessBossFight: He's not unbeatable, but he is still freakishly annoying. On top of the usual Boss characteristics of having insanely high health, resistant to immobility, and high damage attacks. He is able to stun the Hero, regain health during battle, not to mention a very annoying shield. Don't even think of taking him on without Symone and a third powerful guest in your party.
* KnightOfCerebus: By the time he shows up there have already been several extremely dark villains, but Valtrith qualifies as well by being responsible for the most horrible, gruesome, death ever shown in the series; [[spoiler:the way he kills Serenity.]]
* LivingShadow: He appears to be enshrouded in these.
* MadeOfEvil: Implied. He's the combined essence of all of the most fearsome villains in the game, and is literally made from LivingShadow.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: He takes over from Sepulchre as the invincible, ultimate, evil being, who is in charge of the Friday the 13th invasions.
* WhiteMaskOfDoom: Something that looks like a hockey mask.
* YouHaveFailedMe:[[spoiler:After the leader of some of the cultists fails to stop the Hero from taking the Mysterious Stranger's Cloth Valtrith merges with his body and after a GoryDiscretionShot a scream can be heard.]]
* YourSoulIsMine: [[spoiler:He devours Serenity's soul]].

Valtrith's minion, created by the result of destroying Serenity's soul, and [[FateWorseThanDeath merging her corpse with the Shadow Reaper of Doom to animate her with black magic]].
* BodyHorror: Caitiff is composed of the Shadow Reaper of Doom pierced through the chest of Serenity's corpse, which is truly a gruesome sight.
* DarkIsEvil: Much like it's master Baron Valtrith.
* TheDragon: To Baron Valtrith.
* EldritchAbomination: Corpses animated by black magic being bound to an ArtifactOfDoom should qualify.
* HumanoidAbomination: Serenity's corpse used as a puppet for a sentient ArtifactOfDoom.
* MadScientist: Sort of. It doesn't resemble anything close to the usual scientist, but it loves to perform dark experiments on victims.

* [[SheIsAllGrownUp He Is All Grown Up]]: Compare his [[ Book 1 appearance]] with his [[ Book 3 appearance]]
* HumanoidAbomination: In Book 1 he was a human-spider hybrid thanks to a curse.

The Mad Weaponsmith of Falconreach (and Warlic's roommate). He is pretty much FunPersonified, and whenever she shows up you know things are about to get LighterAndSofter, as well as [[SlidingScaleOfSeriousnessVersusSilliness silly]]. His store (Cysero's Superstore of Savings) sells items that can only be bought with [[BribingYourWayToVictory Dragon Coins]].

* TheAtoner: He returns in Book 3 to find the Hero, having realized the Hero was doing good in the Orb Saga finale. And offers to take him/her on an adventure as payback for his/her bravery.
* {{Badass}}: He is the strongest beatable opponent in Book 1, and remains one of the strongest in the game.
* BadassBeard: Has one in his second incarnation during Thankstaking 2013.
* BadassInANiceSuit: Modeled after the Tenth Doctor. He apparently buys them at an expensive price from Chariman Platinum who illegally makes them.
* BiggerOnTheInside: Averted. In stark contrast, the time booth is "smaller on the inside."
* BowtiesAreCool: Wears one as a tribute to the Eleventh Doctor.
* CaptainErsatz: Of [[Series/DoctorWho The Doctor]]. His outfit is a combination of the Tenth Doctor's suit and the Eleventh Doctor's bowtie. He travels around in a TARDIS-like phone box called a time-booth that's "[[BiggerOnTheInside smaller on the inside]]", uses looks like the sonic screwdriver as a weapon. When defeated he regenerates into a new form. In Book 3, the Hero decides to simply call him "Doctor" after some punny confusion over his name.
* HealingFactor: After being defeated he undergoes a regeneration identical to [[Series/DoctorWho the Doctor's]].
* HeroAntagonist: He's not evil per se, just has opposite interests to the Hero and Cysero. In fact he thinks Cysero is messing with space-time and only wishes to put a stop to it. This is further affirmed when he returns in Thankstaking 2013 where he feels he owed the Hero for fighting him.
* HopelessBossFight: He is the hardest beatable opponent in Book 1. -->'''The Hero''': The DOOMKITTEN?? I want to hug it!
-->'''Warlic''': Just... just let it pick an egg.
* DoomyDoomsOfDoom
* EldritchAbomination: It's implied to be this.
* HopelessBossFight: The Doomkitten is the strongest opponent the player will encounter early in the game, and is very difficult to beat due to it's multiple hit attack, being very resistant to all elements other than water, and being the first enemy to have immobility resistance. It becomes a lot easier once the player learns a blinding ability.
* KillerRabbit
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter
* WeaksauceWeakness: If The Hero has a good water weapon, s/he can beat it pretty easily. On the flip side, if The Hero ''doesn't'' have a good water weapon, s/he's screwed.

* TheAgeless: Implied that this is the case, considering she didn't age one bit since she met Artix all those years ago...
* CameBackWrong: During the 2014 Christmas event, [[spoiler:Artix fuses creatures in [=DragonFable=] with their counterparts in several nearby {{Alternate Universe}}s. Since the ''VideoGame/AdventureQuestWorlds'' version of Lady Celestia survived the Ultimate Orb crisis, but the [=DragonFable=] one didn't, she ends up a little less than healthy]].
* GentlemanWizard: Though [[MysteriousWoman mysterious as she is]], a few things one can be sure about her: she likes [[SpotOfTea tea]], she [[PimpedOutDress dresses like a lady]], and though she has little magic (as revealed in ''Diplomatic Mission''), she is a renowned authority in dragons.
* InnocentBystander: Enough to be a [[spoiler:PlayerPunch]].

* EvenEvilHasStandards: It's uncertain whether she's actually evil, though she was disgusted by Frydae's act of attacking other vampires, living in a former guardian tower, and feeding on the blood of his own descendant.
* FriendToAllChildren: She isn't exactly happy with Frydae when she discovers he was willing to kidnap Ophelia and Lazuli because he thought they had his love letter to her.
* TheHighQueen / ReasonableAuthorityFigure: She's a lot more fair and on-the-ball than Frydae is, at least, and she won't actively cause trouble for anyone as long as their plans aren't in direct conflict with hers.
* ImpossiblyLowNeckline: With a downplayed AbsoluteCleavage.
** Except when it's the less {{Fanservice}}[[BuffySpeak -y]] version, which appears to be a OfCorsetsSexy.
* MindOverMatter: She possesses very powerful telekinesis, being able to make a whole castle explode with a hand gesture.
* NoBodyLeftBehind: She can make her enemies explode into blood, leaving no remains.
* OperaGloves
* PimpedOutDress
* RapunzelHair: Safiria has long, dark hair.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Her eyes turn blood red when she's on a murderous rampage.
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue to Frydae's red. She has the same general temperament where Zorbak is concerned, as well, although their friendship is tenuous, and it was established just so he would stop stealing her ghouls.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: By default, although they do sometimes flash red - usually when she's annoyed by someone.
* VampireMonarch: She has been the ruler of Vampires for many, ''many'' centuries.
* WingedHumanoid

!!Girl/[[spoiler:Light Princess]]
The girl Ash saves at the start of the game. [[spoiler:She is later revealed to be the Princess of Light]].
* BreathWeapon: She temporarily gets the ability to breath fire.
* [[spoiler:LightIsGood]]
** [[spoiler: She is also the one powering Ash's light weapon after the timeskip, "Reaching out from the plane of light" to help him out.]]
* LoveInterest: [[spoiler:Subverted in the ''[=ArchKnight=]'' epilogue when Ash ''thinks'' she's going to kiss him, but she gives him an atomic wedgie instead]].

[[folder:Alexander's Diary]]

An apprentice wizard whose diary The Hero finds in the wreckage of an old, burnt down house. [[spoiler:Confirmed by {{Word of God}} to be Xan before his StartOfDarkness]].
* AnIcePerson: His default weapon is "Ice Mage Staff" and most of his skills relate to ice magic. [[spoiler:Which is somewhat ironic, considering who he will become in the future]].
* GoodHairEvilHair: He has what can only be described as a goatee. This brings up some interesting implications; Alexander's beard contrasts with Warlic's moustache in a way that is probably meant to evoke the "good guys have beards, jerks have moustaches" stereotype... but on the other hand, the goatee is pretty much THE stereotypical "[[BeardOfEvil bad guy beard]]", [[spoiler:which could be {{foreshadowing}} Alexander's eventual transformation into Xan]].
* HeroOfAnotherStory
* ImprobableUseOfAWeapon: Uses his staff to hit things with instead of [[{{Magic}} what staffs are]] ''[[{{Magic}} supposed]]'' [[{{Magic}} to be used for]]. This is [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] in the description for one of his attacks.
-->"What else is a staff for?"
* {{Irony}}: [[spoiler:The guy who will later become a downright ''awe-inspiring'' {{pyromaniac}} is an ice mage traumatized from a near-death experience with fire when he was a kid and consequently [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes terrified of fire monsters]]]].
* [[spoiler:LaughingMad : when he becomes xan at the end of the quest chain]]
* UnreliableNarrator: Possibly, since [[LiteraryAgentHypothesis it's his diary and The Hero is seeing everything from his POV]].
* [[spoiler:VillainProtagonist]]
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: He's got... ''issues'' with fire.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair

!![[CharacterTags Past]] Warlic
Warlic when he was an apprentice. Not quite the same as the Warlic The Hero is familiar with (he clearly got some CharacterDevelopment in between the time the diary was written and the present day).
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Actually an Arrogant ''Magic'' Guy, but he still fits the trope.
* [[spoiler:BreakTheHaughty: He's a Jerkass until the point when Jaania is frozen and Alex is set on fire. He is [[HeelFaceTurn immediately horrified]] and The Professor later states it is one of Warlic's greatest regrets.]]
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: He has brown eyes and brown hair, unlike his [[TimeTravelTenseTrouble present/future]] self, who is purple-eyed and white-haired.
* FountainOfYouth: This is the ''second'' time he's experienced teenagehood, much to his annoyance.
* GoodHairEvilHair: His mustache, in contrast to Alexander's beard.
* {{Jerkass}}
* NotAsYouKnowThem
* NotSoDifferent: His attitude is ''very'' similar to Nythera's. [[FridgeBrilliance Maybe that's why present Warlic puts up with her...]]
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld
* TheRival: To Alexander.

!![[CharacterTags Past]] Jaania
Another apprentice. [[LoveTriangle Alexander has a crush on her and so does Warlic]].
* AndIMustScream: [[spoiler:Her imprisonment is confirmed to have been this; [[FateWorseThanDeath She was conscious the entire time she was trapped in her prison]].]]
* {{Bookworm}}
* BreakTheCutie
* BrokenBird
* CostumePorn: Compare her incredibly detailed outfit to Alexander and Warlic's relatively simple robes.
* [[spoiler: CrystalPrison: her fate at the end of the quest chain.]]
* DespairEventHorizon: [[spoiler:The last thing she saw before being imprisoned was her two best friends fighting. And after she is freed, Xan is a mess and part of Warlic has been split off into a power mad tyrant.]]
* ForegoneConclusion: Those of you who've played the Save Lymcrest quest chain already know [[AndIMustScream what happens to her]].
* LoveAtFirstSight: Alexander and Warlic start fighting over Jaania only minutes after they first meet her.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair

The wizard who is training Alexander, Warlic, and Jaania.
* TheMentor
* RobeAndWizardHat
