->''"Brimming with love , Cure Heart!"''

The team leader and StudentCouncilPresident of Oogai Middle School. She tends to act before she thinks, and is always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. She defeats most of the MonstersOfTheWeek by herself, thanks to the support of her teammates. Her best friend is Rikka, her other childhood friend is Alice, Mana is a fan of Makoto, and she befriends [[TheDragon Regina]] during the series. Her dream is to be Prime Minister of Japan.
----
* AcademicAthlete: She has good grades and is multi-talented in sports.
* TheAce: Very athletic and dependable. She got used to her powers quicker than some of [[Anime/HeartcatchPrettyCure the]] earlier [[Anime/SmilePrettyCure protagonists]].
* AccidentalPublicConfession: In Episode 48 she blurts out [[spoiler:her secret identity in public]]. Fortunately, this turns out to be a good thing, because [[spoiler:everyone starts cheering her on during the battle with King Jikochuu]].
* AchillesInHisTent: In episode 22, her friendship with Regina and desire to keep her as a ally comes into question when King Jikochu's manipulation forces them to fight, being unable to to use the Lovely Force Arrow. Thus, to help her get over it, Cure Ace takes away Mana's Lovead in episode 23 for her to learn, which causes problems when Leva and Gula's more powerful Jikochuu annihilates the other three Cures in combat.
* AllLovingHero: She dislikes fighting, and avoids it when she has another option. She also does not hold grudges against the villains. For instance:
** She tells Bel she has no reason for taking his challenge because the destruction of the Trump Kingdom can't be undone.
** Despite the fact that the villains from the Selfish Kingdom are her enemies and keep attacking the humans, she tries to avoid senseless battles and befriend them, like Regina.
** [[spoiler:Deconstructed]] in episode 22, where her feelings [[spoiler:prevent her from using the Lovely Force Arrow on the now completely brainwashed Regina, which leads her and the rest of the team to get curbstomped with ease]]. However, as revealed an episode later, this may have happened because she [[spoiler:was worried the Lovely Force Arrow wouldn't have its intended effect.]]
* BackToBackBadasses: When she casts away her HeroicBSOD she and Cure Ace engage Leva and Gula as a pair of badasses in Episode 23.
* BadBadActing: She disguises herself as Princess Marie-Ange to prevent Makoto from [[spoiler:quitting her idol career]]. Unfortunately, Makoto immediately recognizes her because Mana's disguise is just a mask ''[[PaperThinDisguise made of a sheet of paper with the drawn face of the Princess while wearing the school uniform]]'' and she calls Makoto "Makopi" instead of "Cure Sword". Ironically, Mana's play with her voice is perfect.
* BadLiar: She plays with her hair whenever she lies. Rikka doesn't buy any of her lies.
* BadassAdorable: As a ''baby'' she was able to climb to the top of a climbing frame.
* BadassArmfold:
** Mana does this, after she just fought two Jikochuus and saved her Cure friends in her ''civilian form''. It's even better, Mana is absolutely clean, while her friends are all covered in ink.
** She does this later again, when [[spoiler:Regina]] begs her to save her father in Episode 48.
* BadassBoast: In Episode 21.
--> '''Cure Heart:''' "Don't give up!"\\
'''Regina:''' "But-"\\
'''Cure Heart:''' "I don't want to hear any excuse! This here is nothing! Do you know who I am? I am Oogai Middle School's StudentCouncilPresident!"\\
'''Regina:''' "Is that special?"\\
'''Cure Heart:''' "Of course! The StudentCouncilPresident is stronger than everyone, for the smiles of the students! Stronger than you and your [[BigBad papa]]!"\\
'''Charle:''' "That's right! Mana is number one of the universe!"
* BadassInDistress: In Episode 21, when she and [[spoiler:Regina]] are hanging from a spider web and above a [[spoiler:pit of lava]]. It doesn't stop her from being badass, as she catches [[spoiler:Regina]] with her [[spoiler:''legs'']]. She later becomes this again in episode 44.
* BadassNormal: In the first episode alone, she ran at the speed of an Olympic medalist to help out her classmates, ran up the stairs of a 999 m tall tower, and was thrown by a crab Jikochu into a railing with barely a scratch. Also, she scolded a Jikochuu before she even became Precure. Later in Episode 23, she bounces an autograph card Jikochuu with her ''voice'' and she deflects the ink stream of the pen Jikochuu to the other Jikochuu; both Jikochuus start to argue each other.
* BattleAura: She gains hers as a flowing radiant pink in Episode 23 in Precure form for completing her challenge.
* BigDamnHeroes:
** How do you save a person ([[spoiler:Regina]]), who you just carried on your back, from [[spoiler:commiting HeroicSacrifice]] while you're hanging above a [[spoiler:pit of lava]] and without using your hands? [[spoiler:Use your ''legs''.]]
** In her first battle, she saves Cure Sword, who is dragged down by the second crab Jikochuu, by jumping from the roof, catching her hand and then holding of to a steel cable.
** Mana saves Diamond, Rosetta and Sword from two Jikochuus in her ''civilian form''. With just her voice and a parasol.
** In episode 45, she does this for [[spoiler:both Cure Ace and Regina]].
* BishieSparkle: When Jun met her for the first time. But for him, she was like a "''prince on a white horse''".
* BreakTheCutie: She gets emotionally very hurt when she sees [[spoiler:Regina being brainwashed, fighting her and the others, and being defeated by Cure Ace]]. And then she suffers the same pain as [[spoiler:Makoto and the mascots when Leva and Gula nearly destroy her hometown.]]
* BroughtDownToBadass: Temporarily in Episode 23, her Cure Laveads is taken away by Cure Ace as a SecretTestOfCharacter, so she can't transform. That doesn't stop her from fighting ''two'' Jikochuus who had beaten her friends.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Despite her cheerful, airheaded nature, she still manages to be a competent StudentCouncilPresident.
* CharacterCatchphrase: ''Kyun~kyun~"
* ChestBlaster: Cure Heart's first attack "My Sweet Heart" is fired off from her heart brooch.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Rikka and Alice. The movie [[{{Retcon}} retconned]] her classmates Nikaidou, Momota, and Yashima to the gang.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: She just ''has'' to personally help anyone in need, despite the fact that she is the Student Council President and could simply delegate the responsibility to the appropriate member. This repeatedly come back to bite her. She even tries to be a hero to ''Regina'' of all people, trying to be her friend much to Makopi's dismay. Regina is on the side of the EldritchAbomination who destroyed Makopi's homeworld.
* CombatStilettos: They don't interfere her jumps and landings.
* CooldownHug: In Episode 47, she delivers one to [[spoiler:Regina. That's how she gets her heart and friendship with Mana back]].
* CrashIntoHello: She met Alice by accidentally running into her and have become close friends ever since.
* CuddleBug: Has the tendency to hug her friends a lot.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Pink hair and pink eyes in civilian form.
* CuteButCacophonic: The idea of her singing causes her friends ''to run for cover and cover their ears''.
* CutenessOverload: When Ai-chan is involved, she becomes enamoured to the point where the only thing she can focus on is Ai's cuteness.
* {{Determinator}}: She doesn't give up easily, even if she suffers a HeroicBSOD. She impresses [[spoiler:Melan]] so much that she reminds her of [[spoiler:Cure Empress]] and gaining the [[spoiler:Legendary Crystal Mirror/Magical Lovely Pad.]]
* DitzyGenius: Despite being excellent in academics, she has a lot of not-so-smart-moments and be a kluz.
* DreadfulMusician: She's [[TheAce good at a lot of things]], but one thing she absolutely ''cannot'' do well is singing. The idea of her singing causes her friends ''to run for cover and cover their ears''.
* DubNameChange: In the dub, she's called Maya and her Cure name was changed to Glitter Heart.
* EleventhHourSuperpower: [[spoiler:'''Parthenon Mode''']] is a CombinedEnergyAttack consisting of [[spoiler:all the other Cures plus Regina channeling their power to her]] and allows her to match the [[spoiler:legendary Cure Empress]] and defeat the [[spoiler:Proto-Jikochuu]].
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Mana is noted to be be extremely well-liked by just about everyone, and one of her male childhood friends has a crush on her. Meanwhile, another of her childhood friends, Rikka is also rather close to her, to the point of getting jealous of Makoto in episode 10, when Mana starts spending more time with her. Regina is also ''extremely'' clingy with her.
* EvilLaugh: In episode 7, she counters Bel's cackle with [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYbSqvpbVlc her own]] because the Cures don't give up hope easily.
* FairyTaleWeddingDress: Her family owns one, which was used by her grandmother from mother's side, as revealed in NonSerialMovie. [[spoiler:Her future self gets to wear it in her wedding]]. [[spoiler:It's also the basis of her movie-exclusive SuperMode, the aptly-named Engage Mode.]]
* FantasticallyIndifferent: Her reaction to meeting Charle is simply to introduce herself and shake her hand. {{Lampshaded}} by Rachel and Lance.
* {{Fangirl}}: Was a huge fan of Makoto's idol career and even continues to act like a fangirl as Makoto continues, though more as a friendly advisor.
* GenkiGirl: She was very energetic and cheerful, even when she was a baby. She gave her mother a tough time.
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: After suffering a heavy breakdown following a losing battle to a fused Leva and Gura, who break the Magical Lovely Pad they worked on in the last episode, Mana does this to [[spoiler:''herself'']], via slapping her on the cheeks, in Episode 31, promising to get over her doubt and gets the others to continue the fight.
* TheGlomp: Gives one to Regina in Episode 39, out of relief of seeing her okay… As well as interrupting her evil speech.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Her selfless and selfish desire to help any and everyone changes her hair from pink to yellow in her Cure form, where she can now follow through on her goals when it comes to Jikochu. As Rikka and Alice later point out, she's too caring to a fault, which becomes both a blessing and a curse later on.
* HeartbrokenBadass: [[spoiler:She loses her entire will to fight back when Regina is put through even stronger [[HeelFaceBrainwashing Face Heel Brainwashing]]]] and loses all hope that the Lovely Force Arrow will be able to save [[spoiler: Regina, losing her transformation in the process and needing Ace to remind herself that she has the power to save her fallen friend.]].
* TheHeart: She's the moral compass of the team, and the team wouldn't have become TrueCompanions without her kind and forgiving nature.
* HeartBeatDown: Guess what. She's [[MeaningfulName Cure Heart]] and all of her attacks involving using and focusing her the energy of her heart as a weapon.
* HeroicBSOD:
** [[spoiler:After Regina is forced back into the Selfish Kingdom again]], Mana becomes pretty depressive, keeping herself in her room. Thankfully, Ai-chan and [[spoiler:Aguri aka Cure Ace]] save her from crossing the DespairEventHorizon.
** After [[spoiler:Magical Lovely Pad]] is destroyed, it seems that she's going into this, [[{{Subverted}} but]] [[spoiler:she gives herself a GetAHoldOfYourselfWoman slap]]!
* HeterosexualLifePartners: Forms this with her childhood friend and confidant Rikka, and in the end with [[spoiler:Regina, who lives in her house in the epilogue]].
* {{Hikikomori}}: She briefly becomes this in episode 23, skipping school and refusing to going out of home. Fortunately, Ai-chan snapped her out of it.
* HollywoodToneDeaf:
** Mana is so ''hideously'' bad at singing that Rikka and Alice ran for cover ''then'' covered their ears outside the blast-radius of the "lullaby" she tried to sing for Ai-chan, which sent all the ''birds'' in the park ''flying off in terror.''
** It happens yet again during ''Anime/PrettyCureAllStars: Spring Carnival'': "THE WORLD IS LIKE A MERRY-GO-ROUND!!!"
--->'''[[Anime/SuitePrettyCure Hibiki Hojo]]''': T-This is ''music''?!?
* HotBlooded: To a lesser degree than other Precure heroines, but she has her moments.
* InSeriesNickname: Rikka calls her sometimes "The Happy Prince".
* LargeHam: Sometimes she can be one, such as when she gave an EvilLaugh back to Bel before proceeding to deconstruct his plan [[spoiler:and especially when she announces her identity to everyone in town]].
* TheLeader: The de-facto leader of the team.
* MageMarksman: Her "Heart Shoot" has her use a magical bow to fire a gigantic heart like an arrow.
* MeaningfulName: Her first name means "love". The "Ai" in Aida name can also mean "love" or "togetherness". Cure Heart, besides the obvious theme, is a reference to the suit of cards.
* TheMentor: She is one her schoolmates, being kind, helpful and giving advice when they need it.
* ModestyShorts: As a Cure, she wears bright pink bike shorts under her skirt.
** Hers are much easier to see than the others due to how her skirt is shaped.
** In one of her summer outfits, she wears black bike shorts under a short ruffled skirt, fitting her energetic nature.
* NervesOfSteel:
** When faced with a villain {{Evil Laugh}}ing and the possibility that she and her friends will be trapped in another dimension forever, she confidently counters this with her ''own'' EvilLaugh, challenging him that since ''he'' can hop between worlds, all they need to do is beat him until he transports them back
** Subverted, in episode 22, where she flips out when she is forced to fight a brainwashed Regina.
** Even after she breaks down in tears in Episode 31, she quickly cheers herself up.
* NiceGirl: Not ''one'' selfish bone in her body, this young lady has. She's a cheerful girl who's kindness and dedication has earned her the respect of her best friends, her classmates and teachers, and even some of the monsters. Though her kindness can lead to her overworking herself, she still pushes on and attracts others around her.
* NoIndoorVoice: [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] in her introduction. And there are many situations where she's very loud.
* ObliviousToLove:
** She loves everyone in platonic sense. Some of them think otherwise.
** The movie has her asking Nikaidou about the girl he likes, ''while looking straight at his blushing face''. She gets called out of it in the following scene.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: The normally energetic and [[NervesOfSteel unfazed]], becomes a broken mess because Regina got brainwashed one more time and then was taken back to Jikochuu, making her fall into a depression for a while.
* PaperThinDisguise.
** Used literally in Episode 24, when she just wears a mask made of a sheet paper with the drawn face of Marie-Ange... while wearing her school uniform. Of course, [=MakoPi=] recognizes her immediately... [[spoiler:Because Marie-Ange would never call her "[=MakoPi=]".]]
** When she, Rikka and Alice were six, they put ridiculously weird looking masks on their heads, disguising themselves as decoration. It ''worked''.
* ParasolOfPain: She uses a beach parasol as a deflector shield in Episode 23. It didn't break, despite the ink stream being strong enough to send the three other Precures flying.
* ParentalSubstitute: When Ai is born quickly assumes the role of mother for her.
* PassingTheTorch: In the ending, [[spoiler:Jun took over her position as StudentCouncilPresident.]]
* PinkHeroine: She has pink hair and has pink in her skirt, shoes and shirt. As a Cure, she is clad predominantly in pink.
* PluckyGirl: She doesn't have it in her to give up.
* ThePollyanna: Incredibly positive and cheerful, bad moods don’t get her down for long.
* PowerDyesYourHair: Her deep magenta hair turns bright blonde as Cure Heart. Notably, like [[Anime/FreshPrettyCure Peach]] and [[Anime/FutariWaPrettyCureSplashStar Bloom]], she's a pink Cure who doesn't have pink hair in Cure form.
* PowerMakesYourHairGrow: Like most leading Precures, her regular magenta curls reach down to her neck, but in Cure form, her hair extends all the way into a massive ponytail that reaches her legs, gains two more curls, and two more loops of hair.
* PunishedForSympathy: She gets [[WhatTheHellHero severely chastised]] and abandoned by Makoto for trying to befriend Regina, who happens to have destroyed Makopi's country.
* RedOniBlueOni: She's the optimist and headstrong Red Oni to Rikka's realist and analytical Blue.
* SayMyName: Screams "Regina!" at some points. Her own name is also shouted very often, usually by Rikka or the aforementioned Regina. And Tatsuya in the finale.
* ScrewDestiny: Unlike Aguri, who believes [[BecauseDestinySaysSo it is destiny]] and that [[YouCantFightFate it can't be avoided]], [[spoiler:Mana believes that there has to be a solution for both Aguri and Regina to co-exist after learning about their origins]].
* ShesBack: In Episode 23, she goes back to her old [[GenkiGirl cheerful and energetic self]] after suffering a HeroicBSOD [[spoiler:after Regina is [[BrainwashedAndCrazy brainwashed]]]], where she was a gloomy and depressive {{Hikikomori}}, even the other girls are glad to have her back.
* SevenHeavenlyVirtues: Temperance is the only virtue she lacks. She can't help herself to help others whenever the chance/need arises.
* SkilledButNaive: Despite the fact, that she is an ''academic'' genius, Mana's view on life and humanity is so rose-tinted that it rivals a ''pre-schooler'' in sheer naivety.
* SlipknotPonytail: In episode 23, her ponytail comes off when Cure Ace take her Cure Laveads from the ribbon holding it.
* TheSmartGirl: Compared to most other lead Cures, Mana has good grades. Also, she instantly pointed out that there is more than one way to escape from a parallel world.
* StudentCouncilPresident: A first for Pretty Cure leaders, and a competent one too.
* SuperMode: Mana gains three power up super forms, two of which become her final forms.
** In the movie, she gains her [[spoiler:Engage Mode. After Maro's Psyche is stolen, Engage Mode grants her a weddling inspired gown, longer gair, and a bow and arrow made from the Miracle Light Bouquet]]
** In series proper, she has one called [[spoiler:[[Myth/ClassicalMythology Parthenon Mode, essentially a fusion granted from the powers of the other Cures, the Magical Lovely Pad, Miracle Dragon Glaive, and the Eternal Glden Crown, gaining wings, a white cape, and is even stronger than Engage Mode]]]]
* SuperStrength: Mana is able to effortlessly carry a duffel bag full of school books so heavy that a boy can barely drag with ''one'' hand while not transformed. Granted, Jun is a quite short by the standards of normal thirteen-year-old boys (he's ''shorter'' than Mana), but it still speaks volumes on how fit and athletic she is. Carrying a heavy beach parasol seems not to be a problem for her, either.
* SupremeChef: She's a really good cook, just like her family.
* TaremeEyes: Her round and youthful eyes fit her cheerful and kind personality.
* TraumaCongaLine: In Episode 22 and 23, Regina's latest round of [[spoiler:[[HeelFaceBrainwashing Face Heel Brainwashing]]]] takes quite a toll on her. She gets somewhat better midway episode 23, but it's still quite shocking for a children's show, especially Anime/PrettyCure, for a series to nearly break the main character in a way [[Creator/GenUrobuchi Gen Urobuchi]] would be proud of.
* UnfazedEveryman: A lot of the bizarre elements in the story hardly bother or unnerve her. Her reaction in seeing Charle, Cure Sword and Jikochu in episode 1 is one of excitement, and her first reaction from seeing Ai's reaction is to jump and hug her while Rikka chastises her not even beginning to ask the mirade of questions with keeping a magical flying baby.
* WhatTheHellHero: In episode 46, [[spoiler:Mana reprimands Aguri for her fight against Regina without letting her know the truth of her and Regina's origins]].
* YouRemindMeOfX: Being a {{Determinator}}, she reminds [[spoiler:Melan]] of [[spoiler:Cure Empress]]. Also, she reminds [[spoiler:Proto-Jikochuu]] of her, too.

->''"[[TheSmartGirl The light of wisdom]], Cure Diamond!"''

The secretary of the Oogai Middle School Student Council. She has a good heart but is constantly burdened with work and stopping people from taking advantage of Mana's good nature. Both are best friends since their childhood. After becoming a Precure, Rikka is a supportive member and freezes the enemies up. Her dream is to be a doctor like her mom.
----
* TheAce: On a team filled with female badasses, Rikka has proven herself time and time again. However, she gets less action than the others.
* AngelicBeauty: To [[spoiler:Ira with his IdentityAmnesia]] she looks like an angel.
* AnimalMotif:
** Subverted with her love of frogs. Her room is full of frog merchandise, including a frog clock and frog bed linen; she has even frog slippers and a frog apron. During the FestivalEpisode, she tries to win another frog doll. In addition, Rachel's[[note]]Rikka's fairy partner[[/note]] VerbalTic is 'Keru~' which is very close to the Japanese word for frog, 'Kaeru'. However, she's neither represented by a frog nor does she represent a frog. Alice's flashback in Episode 33 suggests that her fondness for frogs comes from playing [[http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/hiragi_keiichi/39598594/2075474/2075474_300.jpg outdoors]].
** Swallows seem to be her real animal motif. With Mana being compared with the ''Happy Prince'', Rikka is often compared as Mana's swallow.
* AssKicksYou: In Episode 36, [[spoiler:Rachel in his Commune form drags her body with flying at [[ThePowerOfLove full force]] directly towards the Blood Ring Jikochuu, making it a combination of UseYourHead and AssKicksYou.]] Surprisingly, it ''works''.
* AthleticallyChallenged: She's rather unathletic. Even [[spoiler:Aguri]] is more athletic than her.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: When she was ''six'', she analyzed completely Alice's mansion with a gadget that she just got by Sebastian.
* BadassBoast: To Ira in Episode 47:
--> "If you do not know, I will tell you: Diamond is unbreakable!"
* BadassBookworm:
** She has confused a herd of Jikochuus by just shouting a random long ''number''.
** The way she plays karuta makes ''Mana'' look like a baby.
%%* BattleAura: Gains hers in Episode 26.
* BishieSparkle:
** It's suggested that Ira see her with this.
** It actually happens in Episode 36, when Rachel sees her smiling face.
** In Episode 34, she and her mother got a "mother-daughter" sparkle moment.
* BlueMeansSmartOne: Rikka's theme color is blue and she's a BadassBookworm who once managed to scare a herd of [=MOTWs=] simply by shouting out a long number.
* BookSmart: She is one of the best students in the country, being one of the top ten scoring students in the national trial exams.
* ChildhoodFriends: Has this relationship with both Mana and Alice. Mana’s side is usually given more focus.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: She has blue eyes and her hair is also blue (albeit darker) as a civilian. As a Cure, her eyes and hair are both blue.
* CutenessProximity: When Ai-chan is involved, she goes goo-goo-eyed.
* DeadpanSnarker: Fits a similar role as ''[[Anime/YesPrettyCure5 Rin]]'', snarking back at her more whimsical teammates' antics.
* DubNameChange: In the dub, her first name is changed to "Rachel" and her Cure name was changed to Glitter Diamond.
* FacePalm: When she sees how [[spoiler:Rachel's heart get broken]] in Episode 36.
* FantasticallyIndifferent: She has a stoic expression when Mana shows up with a carrot costume in Episode 37.
* FingerPokeOfDoom: Cure Diamond's first attack "Twinkle Diamond". She fires ice diamonds from her finger.
* FullNameBasis: She calls Cure Heart always "Cure Heart".
* HeroicSacrifice: In episode 48, she performs a blizzard attack that [[spoiler:traps herself and various Jikochuu inside a ice prison.]] [[SubvertedTrope However]], she [[spoiler:comes out fine]] at the end of the episode.
* AnIcePerson: All of her attacks involving using ice to harm, stunt, attack, and[=/=] or freeze her enemies into submission.. It's a surprise that neither of her {{finishing move}}s are called "[[Manga/SaintSeiya Diamond Dust]]".
* InTheBack: It backfires: when she does this to [[spoiler:Melan]], Melan does this back at ''her''.
* KirkSummation: Gives one to [[spoiler:Regina]] in episode 44. [[spoiler:It almost snaps her out of her brainwashing.]]
* LuminescentBlush:
** When [[spoiler:Ira with his amnesia]] thanks to her or gives her compliments, she blushes.
** Her face becomes completely red in Episode 34, when the girls comments about Rikka's baby story.
* MakingASplash: Diamond [[{{Engrish}} Swirkle]], surrounds the enemy with water.
* MeaningfulName: Her name "Rikka" means snowflake. The "Hishi" is her surname means "a diamond shape". Cure Diamond refers to the suit of cards.
* ModestyShorts: Not as obvious as Cure Heart's, but you can barely see them in her solo part of the ending credits.
* MoreDakka: Her attack "Twinkle Diamond" spams... diamonds.
* NiceGirl: In Episode 26, she finds an injured [[spoiler:Ira with amnesia]] and decides to cure him, despite [[spoiler:he's her enemy]]. She also cooks for him, feeds him and [[spoiler:protects him from Cure Ace.]] He often tells her how nice she is in that episode. It pays off, [[spoiler:as Ira secretly protects the Precures when he regains his memories.]]
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Causes the conflict of Episode 35 by unintentionally rooting a [[AfraidOfDoctors fear of doctors]] in Makoto.
* OnlySaneWoman: The only voice of reason grounded in mundane reality of the four. She alone is still concerned with how ''bizarre'' a flying baby that hatched out of an egg is rather than how cute she is. ''Quite'' the opposite of the CloudCuckooLander who was [[Manga/KOn Mugi]], Creator/{{Minako Kotobuki}}'s most beloved role.
* RedOniBlueOni: The calm and polite Blue Oni to Mana's energetic and kind Red.
* RefusalOfTheCall: Initially when she's asked to become a Pretty Cure she thinks she's not good enough. Later when Joe Okada gives her a Cure Lovies she tells him she can't accept it because she thinks he's suspicious. Joe replies that he didn't choose her, [[TheChooserOfTheOne the Lovies did]], and it's her decision as to what to do with her power. She chooses to use it.
* SevenHeavenlyVirtues: Temperance. Without her, who knows what kind of problems Mana will run into.
* ShrinkingViolet: Whenever she considers herself as incompetent or experiences uncomfortable situations like Mana getting closer to Makoto.
* ShyBlueHairedGirl: Especially when she was a child. In Episode 2, she mentions that she becomes shy whenever she meets strangers. It doesn't seem so.
* TheSmartGirl: She's the smartest and most academically accomplished Cure.
* SquishyWizard: Admits that she's not much of an athlete. In battles, she rarely uses close quarters combat unlike her teammates.
* StealthPun: It seems that her penchant for frogs is based from Rachel's VerbalTic "-keru" which sounds like the frog's noise "kero" or her wish for her parents to come home[[note]]"come home" and "frog" are homophone "kaeru"[[/note]].
* TeenGenius: Incredibly smart and well-read.
* TrueBlueFemininity: Her theme colour is blue and she’s traditionally feminine.
* TsurimeEyes: Her sharper eyes fit her calm and cool (for the most part) personality.
* WaterIsWomanly: The most maturely feminine Cure and has water powers.
* WhenYouComingHomeDad: Her father is a photograph and travels to other countries, so he's rarely home. Her mother works in a hospital and comes often late at home.
* TheWorfEffect: She hasn't defeated a Jikochuu since Diamond's introductory episode. And her attack Diamond Shower hasn't successfully frozen her enemies since episode 15 (except episode 19). On the whole, though, it's Subverted, as her efforts usually contribute to the defeat of the MonsterOfTheWeek.

->''"[[YamatoNadeshiko The warmth of the sun]], Cure Rosetta! / As warm and bright as the Sun! I'm Glitter Clover!"''

A gentle and talented Zaibatsu heiress who goes to the prestigious Nanatsuhashi Private Academy. First she refuses to become a Precure because she went once berserk in the past. However, she decides to protect her friends with her powers and she's now a defensive member.
----
* AliceAllusion: Due to the fact that the Cures are all themed after the suits of playing cards, with a special emphasis on hearts.
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: In episode 48, there's an Attack of the 50-Foot Teddy Bear when [[spoiler:Alice summons a giant Lance using Rosetta Balloon[[note]]It's not the real Lance.[[/note]].]] However, he mostly serves [[spoiler:to distract King Jikochuu.]]
* AttackReflector: Her shields have this purpose.
* BadassAdorable: Gentle, calm and kind… And has been talented in martial arts since she was a young kid.
* BarrierWarrior: As Cure Rosetta. As made very apparent in Episode 33. She uses one of her barriers [[NotQuiteFlight as a ledge to jump off of]], then [[spoiler:breaks her Rosetta Reflection in half and uses the pieces as [[DeadlyDisc Deadly Half-Discs]].]]
%%* BattleAura: Gains hers in Episode 25.
* BigFancyHouse: [[spoiler:With secret tunnels and traps.]]
* BullyHunter: As a kid, she beat up a group of bullies.
%%* CatchAndReturn: In Episode 25, [[spoiler:she gains this ability.]]
* ChildhoodFriends: She’s known Mana and Rikka ever since she invited them to her house as young kids.
* ClaspYourHandsIfYouDeceive: A rare heroic example, as she does this pose quite a bit.
%%* CrashIntoHello: How she met Mana.
* CoolPlane: [[spoiler:She has a ''personal'' (and likely re-usable) one-manned space shuttle that would came in handy in episode 41.]]
* CrimefightingWithCash: She tries to invoke this by proclaiming herself as Precure's producer, but eventually she has to take the matters into her own hands.
* CulturedBadass: She's relative good with Japanese culturally activities like tea ceremony, matsuri festivals and other non-Japanese culturally things like piano, painting, dancing. You can expect that she can do almost everything. [[spoiler:Including piloting a space shuttle of her own.]]
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Her eyes and hair are very similar in colour, specifically, brownish-orange. The similarity in colour becomes less blatant when she becomes a Cure however.
* CuteBruiser: Applies to all Cures, but she counts even in civilian form - she was trained in various martial arts by her grandfather and managed to beat up three bullies on her own as a kid.
* DubNameChange: In the dub, her name is Clara and her Cure name was changed to Glitter Clover.
* FantasticallyIndifferent:
** Her reaction to a crab MonsterOfTheWeek attacking Clover Tower? "Sebastian, perhaps we could raise it at home?"
** She gets pretty hyped when she sees Melan's [[spoiler:dragon form]] and asks Sebastian to take her home.
* {{Fiction 500}}: She's likely the richest person to become a Precure in the franchise's history. It does help that her family owns nearly ''everything''. She has so much wealth that when a MonsterOfTheWeek asks how much money she has, she admits she's not really sure. Even her ''butler'' has thrown ludicrous amounts of wealth around on occasion.
** Even more so at the end of the series, with Trump Republic now having regular trade with this world, and Alice apparently is now carrying their magic-infused products in her company’s catalogue. She just casually dropped an order of a million of those automated mops, very likely intended to resell and make some bank while doing it.
* GirlishPigtails: As Cure Rosetta, her hairstyle changes from odango hair to this.
* TheHeart: Fills this role for the team.
* IAmNotLeftHanded: Just because she's a BarrierWarrior doesn't mean she can't fight at all. And don't think barriers can't be used in offensive ways, Mamo have learned this three times.
* ImprobablePilotingSkills: She's just 14, but she is capable of flying a seaplane and [[spoiler:pilot a ''space shuttle'']] all by herself.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: In Episode 33, [[spoiler:she takes her in two halves broken Rosetta Reflection and uses them like [[VideoGame/TheKingOfFighters Mai Shiranui's]] PaperfanOfDoom and then throws them like [[Anime/YesPrettyCure5 Cure Mint's Emerauld Saucers]].]]
* ImTakingHerHomeWithMe: Her FantasticallyIndifferent reaction to the crab Jikochuu. Also, to Melan's [[spoiler:dragon form]].
* InvisibleParents: Until her father is introduced in Episode 33. It's also mentioned that her mother is an opera singer [[spoiler:who finally showed herself in Episode 47.]]
* KamehameHadouken: In Episode 25, [[spoiler:she gets a PowerUp, now she can CatchAndReturn attacks in this fashion.]]
%%* KillerRabbit: ''[[Website/{{Pixiv}} Chidamari poka poka!]]''
* KungFuWizard: Can launch her barrier, and is the only one on the team who practiced martial arts.
* LettingHerHairDown: A more mundane than usual version of this happens in Episode 29, when she goes to sleep.
* LonelyRichKid: She didn’t have a lot of friends she was younger due to her illness, but she grew out of this when she met Mana and Rikka.
* InternalRetcon: Taken to extreme lengths - the Precures fighting monsters in broad daylight hasn't attracted attention because she pays people to do this to ''the entire Internet'' (alongside other things like destroying security camera records). Being the heiress to a giant media corporation is useful.
* ModestyShorts: Like with Cure Diamond, you can just barely see them in the ending.
* ParasolOfPrettiness: She is often seen carrying one around.
* PinkMeansFeminine: She actually doesn't wear pink, but her limousine, airplane and helicopter are pink.
* OutOfFocus: In Episode 25 (which was ironically supposed to be her [[ADayInTheLimelight Power Up episode]]). She spends most of her time training off-screen while Sebastian and Mamo takes up the majority of the plot.
* {{Ojou}}: She is one of the two richest Pretty Cure ojous in the franchise. The other one is [[Anime/YesPrettyCure5 Karen]].
* MeaningfulName: See AliceAllusion above. Her last name means "Clover", the plant shaped similar to the suit of Clubs. Cure Rosetta's name is Italian for "Rose", possibly referring to the plant known as the rose clover. [[note]]Rose is also an alternate suit in playing cards, but it corresponds to Hearts, not Clubs.[[/note]]
* ThePowerOfTheSun: According to her InTheNameOfTheMoon speech, she represents the warmth of the sun.
* PrincessesPreferPink: She's an heiress, not a princess, but she does possess a pink car and helicopter.
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: Usually dresses like this in her normal form.
* RandomEffectSpell: Rosetta Balloon can summon random things when it pops.
* RefusalOfTheCall: In episode 4, she initially refuses to become a Cure out of fear of losing herself to rage.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveMoney: Averted, but she won't hesitate to use her massive wealth to help in Precure related activities.
* ShieldBash: Rosetta Wall is rarely used as this and not powerful. [[spoiler:The broken halves of Rosetta Reflection are a lot stronger.]]
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Fandom is currently juggling between spelling her name as "Arisu", the romanized spelling of its ''hiragana'', or "Alice", the English variant which would normally be spelled in ''katakana'' instead, but stranger things have been known to happen.
* SurveillanceAsThePlotDemands: She has an intelligence network so effective that it can detect monsters before the fairies do, and was able to effortlessly figure out the identities of Cure Heart and Cure Sword (for the latter she had video, fingerprint ''and'' DNA evidence!). She even has access to a spy satellite.
* TaremeEyes: Her big, round eyes reflect her gentle and kind nature.
* TheseHandsHaveKilled: Does this after hurting the bullies, giving her the reason to give up fighting.
* ThrowingYourShieldAlwaysWorks: She can throw her barriers to attack.
** In Episode 30, [[spoiler:Heart, Diamond and Sword enhance Rosetta Reflection and it becomes Lovely Force Reflection. It's so strong it breaks through Melan's barrier.]]
** In Episode 33, [[spoiler:she throws her broken Rosetta Reflection like [[Anime/YesPrettyCure5 Emerauld Saucers]].]]
* WiseBeyondHerYears: At times. Most teens don’t really know about accounting…
* TheWorfEffect:
** Her Rosetta Reflection gets broken more often since episode 15. However, it zigzags between being useful or getting broken.
** Subverted in Episode 33, when it gets broken again, [[spoiler:Cure Rosetta uses the two halves as useful weapons]].
%%* YamatoNadeshiko: Has this sort of demeanour usually.

->''"[[LadyOfWar The blade of courage]], Cure Sword!"''

The former protector of the Trump Kingdom. Makoto masquerades as a popular [[IdolSinger idol/model]] with the [[StageNames stage name of "MakoPi"]] on Earth so she can look for the missing Princess Marie-Ange. [[MyGreatestFailure Blaming herself]] for the fall of the Trump Kingdom, [[BrokenBird she has become cold and withdrawn]]. However after joining the team, [[DefrostingIceQueen she is finally brought out of her shell]]. She's the most offensive member of the quartet.
----
* AfraidOfDoctors: Especially when it comes to a dentist's drill. Episode 35 centers around this.
* AloofAlly: She was quite cold prior to joining the team.
* AmbiguouslyGay: More cool and mature than "cute" proper, Makoto is the least overtly feminine of the Cures outside her Idol Career, with a tomboyish dress-sense, short and butch page-boy haircut and attitude to match. Most tellingly, however, is her blatantly ''jealous'' anger at [[spoiler:Jonathan Klondike for being her "beloved" Princess Marie-Ange's ''male'' fiancé]].
* AttackAttackAttack: It's basically the only thing she can do. [[spoiler:After gaining the Magical Lovely Pads]], all Cures get new individual attack. While Ace, Rosetta, Diamond and Heart get attacks that trap the enemy, Sword's attack is the only offensive one.
* BadLiar: In Episode 42, when she and DB buy ingredients for Aguri's birthday cake and Aguri speaks to them, Makoto replies "I'm not Makoto Kenzaki" and goes away. The terrible parts: Aguri knows Makoto's ClarkKenting costume, she doesn't address Makoto by her name in this scene, and DB is there.
%%* BadassLongCoat: She wears one in the opening. Also, in Episode 42.
* BarehandedBladeBlock:
** In Episode 35; actually a Barehanded [[spoiler:'''[[ThisIsADrill Drill]]]]''' Block!
** In Episode 40, she catches the powerful [[spoiler:Miracle Dragon Glaive]] with one hand. However, she doesn't catch the blade, but the stick.
%%* BattleAura: Gains hers in Episode 25.
%%* BishieSparkle: Sometimes.
* BlowYouAway: Her third attack Sword [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Hurricane]].
* BoyishShortHair: With the side-locks, it only reaches her collarbone, though she’s not ''that'' boyish.
* BreakTheCutie: Seeing her homeworld destroyed and the princess, who she's supposed to protect, sacrificing herself to save Sword is really hard for her.
* BrokenBird: She witnessed the destruction of her home world and the sacrifice of the princess she was supposed to protect, leaving her guilt-ridden and traumatized.
* CelebrityParadox: Her voice actress, Kanako Miyamoto, previously appeared in Anime/YesPrettyCure5 AsHerself as a one-off character.
* ClarkKenting: Because she's an IdolSinger, she wears PurelyAestheticGlasses and a hat to cover herself in public and outside of school.
* TheComicallySerious: Starts moving in to this as she becomes closer to the rest of the team.
* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: Episode 42 reveals her parents died when she was a baby. She doesn't seem to be bothered about it.
%%* CourtlyLove: Implied towards Princess Marie-Ange.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Her eyes and hair are both purple (albeit in different shades and/or tints).
* CutenessProximity: Enters this whenever Ai-chan is involved. She tries to hold it back, but fails everytime.
%%* DarkMagicalGirl
%%* DefrostingIceQueen
* DiagonalCut: Her signature move is doing this by her own hands.
* DudeMagnet: She has even a fanclub full of apparently adult men.
* DubNameChange: In the dub, her name is Mackenzie Mack and her Cure name was changed to Glitter Spade.
%%* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: She has many fangirls, but Mana is ''the'' example.
* ExcuseMeWhileIMultitask: Singing while walking, transforming and catching a powerful magical weapon seems to be easy.
%%* TheFashionista: Part of her idol job.
* FailureKnight: Specifically, having failed to protect the Trump Kingdom.
%%* FishOutOfWater: When she transfers to Mana's school in Episode 10.
%%* FunnyAfro: All of them gets one in Episode 31, [[http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/hiragi_keiichi/39598594/1997840/1997840_300.jpg but MakoPi's stands out the most because it looks like an actual afro]].
* HerHeartWillGoOn: In her final moment, [[spoiler:Marie-Ange]] tells Makopi to keep singing, even in the world where she no longer exists. Makopi takes those ''final'' final words seriously.
* HisNameReallyIsBarkeep: The name "Makoto Kenzaki" is just her alias, and it seems like "Cure Sword" is in fact her real name.
* HumanAlien: For a given definition of "alien". She's not from Earth, at any rate.
* IdolSinger: Her in-universe fandom suffers from this. While most of the [[VictimOfTheWeek Victims Of The Week]] are not associated with the Precures, most of those who ''are'' somehow associated with them are either fans or rivals or co-workers or reporters or at worst just arriving the location she works.
%%* IneffectualLoner: At first.
%%* InSeriesNickname: Her fans refer to her as "[=MakoPi=]".
* KnightInSourArmor: After failing to protect the Trump Kingdom from destruction, Makoto encases herself in a near-constant shell of bitter coldness to stop becoming attached to and/or hurt others ever again.
* LadyOfWar: The most dignified and mature of the quartet in battle.
* TheLancer: Sword has defeated the largest number of Jikochuu after Cure Heart (not difficult, considering that Cure Diamond and Cure Rosetta barely attack) and most of her attacks weaken/damage the enemies. Additionally, Makoto's more serious and light cold personality contrasts Mana's GenkiGirl attitude well.
%%* LonerTurnedFriend
* LoonyFriendsImproveYourPersonality: Goes both ways with Mana, really. She learns that having an enthusiastic friend is better than not having an enthusiastic friend. Mana learns that some people can be hurt by her enthusiasm, such as the time she's trying to befriend Regina in front of Makopi.
%%* MagicIdolSinger: Clearly evokes the trope.
* MeaningfulName: The "Ken" in her surname means "sword", which is also the suit in playing cards that was the precursor to spades. She isn't, however, [[Series/KamenRiderBlade the first Kenzaki to be a warrior represented by spades]].
* ModestyShorts: Like with Diamond and Rosetta, you can just barely see them in the ending.
%%* MsExposition: In Episode 7.
* MyGreatestFailure: The series opens with her failing to protect the Trump Kingdom from an invasion by the Jikochuss.
%%* NewTransferStudent: Episode 10.
* NonIndicativeName: At no point does she actually use a sword. Her forte is vaguely spade-shaped projectile {{Spam Attack}}s.
* NoSocialSkills: Even though a superstar amongst kids her age, Makoto lacks the most basic skills required for a girl to fit into modern Japanese society, such as cooking, making friends, calligraphy or even ''sweeping the floor properly''. This ''could'' be attributed to the fact she spent most of her life as a professional-warrior who never had time to learn housework or non-combat skills. In fact in Episode 10 Makoto says the Trump Kingdom had automatic cleaning robots. But even then...
* NotSoAboveItAll: When faced with CutenessOverload, even ''she'' cannot keep her ice-cold shell from cracking and revealing the bubbly teenage girl beneath.
* NotSoStoic: Since she joins the other Pretty Cures, she drops her stoic behaviour for most of the time.
* OneWomanArmy: Takes on an entire ARMY of Jikochuus in episode 48.
* PerpetualFrowner: Played straight in her TransformationSequence and in the Lovely Force Arrow sequence. This looks kinda odd, because she winks without smiling.
* {{Pride}}: Her vice, as exhibited in episode 16 when she abandons Mana for trying to befriend Regina, who she considers responsible at least in part for destroying her homeland. [[BlackAndWhiteMorality Clearly, she's too proud to accept that there can be any shade of gray in the morality scale]].
%%* PurelyAestheticGlasses: When she's undercover in public.
* PurpleIsPowerful: If anything, she's a magical girl ''veteran''[[note]]Not really. She was a Pretty Cure for just a month when the Selfish Kingdom attacked the Trump Kingdom[[/note]].
* RazorSharpHand: How she fires her Holy Sword. However, she can actually use her RazorSharpHand normally.
%%* RazorWind: "Sword Hurricane" evokes this.
* SacrificedBasicSkillForAwesomeTraining:
** In episode 6 she is comically inept at cooking - because as a warrior she never really had to cook before. She picks up quickly.
** Episode 10 has her get into comical mishaps at Mana's school. Although the reason she didn't know how to clean was because she had automatic robots doing it for her in the Trump Kingdom.
* SayMyName: Episode 45, when things have seriously goes out of anyone's hands, it's interesting that she only calls Mana alone.
--> "MANAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"
* StageNames: [=MakoPi=], which doubles as her InSeriesNickname. Point in fact it's used more often than her formal name "Makoto" in the show itself.
%%* TenderTears: When she gets tooth decay in Episode 35.
* TheyCallHimSword: Not only that. A flashback from Episode 42 reveals that she was Sword (perhaps just Sword, with the Cure title being given to her later on much like the "Sir" title among knights) as a kid, implying that she's born in her Cure form.
%%* TsurimeEyes
* WakeUpGoToSchoolSaveTheWorld: Makopi is a student, an idol, a model, an actress, a MagicalGirlWarrior, and a refugee from magical world searching for her lost queen. And she is a ''minor''. [[DeconstructedTrope The burden she carries is immense, and it shows]]: sometimes she falls asleep in class.
* WhatTheHellHero: Gives a ''massive'' one --for kids show, at any rate-- to Mana. Because Mana is trying to befriend ''Regina'', who shares the blame for destroying Makopi's country.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: In Episode 35, she's afraid of dentists. It's her first time, though. But the caries Jikochuu who has a [[ThisIsADrill drill]] scares her so much that she refuses to transform, at first.
* TheWorfEffect: She suffers from this since she has joined the team, all credits for finishing the MonstersOfTheWeek goes to Cure Heart or Cure Ace when they don't use group finishing moves. Especially when they got their first [[MidSeasonUpgrade Mid Season Upgrades]], she got the worst attack, since the only purpose of Sparkle Sword is simply attacking while the others' attacks defend, freeze and finish, respectively. Sparkle Sword has finished only one MonsterOfTheWeek, yet, but ''thirteen'' episodes after it was introduced. Depending on situation, her attacks are the least useful ones, but not useless.

->''"[[ThePowerOfLove The trump card of love]], Cure Ace!"''

The mysterious fifth Cure. Aguri is in fourth grade, but ages whenever she transforms. As Cure Ace, she is much stronger than the other Cures. However, she can only remain transformed for 5 minutes at a time.

It's later revealed that she's the light/dutiful half of Princess Marie-Ange, with the dark/selfish half being Regina.
----
* AloofAlly: Though it turns out part of the reason she comes and goes so often is [[spoiler:to stop the villains from realizing that her powers have a [[HourOfPower time limit]].]]
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: The youngest Cure in the entire franchise in civilian form at just 9 years old (until Elle broke that record). She ages when she transforms into Cure Ace.
%%* BadassLongcoat
%%* BackToBackBadasses: With Cure Heart in episode 23.
%%* BattleAura: Gains hers in Episode 28.
* BecauseDestinySaysSo: She gains this mentality [[spoiler:from learning the connection between her and Regina. As a result, she is determined to settle the score between them, but she keeps Mana in the dark about it due to the two tropes. She even outright tells her the former as her justification for attempting to [[KickThemWhileTheyAreDown kill Regina while she's down]]]].
* BigDamnHeroes: Saves the other Cures from [[spoiler:Regina's]] SphereOfDestruction.
* TheBigGirl: As Cure Ace. She is the strongest of the five, but is neither TheHeroine nor TheLancer.
* BrutalHonesty: Abuses this trope to no end when she first appears, just for the sake of making the Cures stronger.
** Episode 23: She tells Mana in her face that Regina nearly killing them all was her own fault and to move pass it, completely ignoring that Mana was [[HeroicBSOD shocked to have someone she had just befriended being taken away by the villains]].
** Episode 24: She tells Makoto that her performance in the opening was lacking, which causes her to consider retiring from the idol business. It's worse in the English dub, where she flat out tells her to give up singing.
** episode 25: She calls Alice weak when her Rosetta Reflection broke mid-battle, and told her to comeback stronger just so she wouldn't disappoint her anymore.
** She isn't as bad with Rikka in Episode 26, where she just told her to really think over what she wants to do when she grows up.
%%* BlindedByTheLight: Ace Mirror Flash
%%* BrainyBrunette: As Aguri.
* CameFromTheSky: [[spoiler:As a baby. The other characters even make allusions to ''Kaguya-hime''.]].
* CharacterCatchphrase: "Bravo" when she eats sweets, and "adieu" when she disappears. [[spoiler:It becomes heartbreaking when she says Adieu to Eru in episode 45.]]
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Her attack Ace Shot changes depending on the color of lipstick used.
** Red: FinishingMove
** Purple: [[KillItWithIce Freezes enemies.]]
** Yellow: [[GreenThumb Traps enemies in vines.]]
** Blue: Enemy goes FloatingInABubble.
* CoolBigSis: As Cure Ace. Not so much as Aguri; after all it's difficult to have the 'big sis' vibe if you ComicalOverreacting over a cake and scolding your fellow Cure with cream on your face, more so when you're younger than the one you scold.
* CulturedBadass: As Aguri, she is quite knowledgeable about tea ceremonies - mostly because her grandmother is a tea ceremony teacher.
* CurbStompBattle: To the powered-up [[spoiler:Regina]] and to Jikochuus. Justified, [[spoiler:she has a limit of 5 minutes before she de-transforms]].
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: As Cure Ace, her hair and eyes are both red.
* DeusExMachina:
** How she was introduced. She comes out of nowhere, without any hints about her existence or her identity.
** The way she appears in the NonSerialMovie is this. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]], as [[spoiler:her true nature made her unfit for a movie that revolves around past memories.]]
* DoesNotLikeSpam: She hates carrots, but she eventually overcomes this in Episode 37.
* DreamingOfTimesGoneBy: She dreams about [[spoiler:Marie-Ange fighting King Jikochuu]] in Episode 42.
* DubNameChange: In the dub, her name is Natalie Miller and her Cure name was changed to Glitter Ace.
* FingerPokeOfDoom: Does this to a Jikochuu in episode 23. '''Without actually touching it!''' [[spoiler:This proves to be {{Foreshadowing}} for the big reveal about her, Regina, and Marie-Ange.]]
* FlamingHair: Her hair is ''literally'' made of fire during her transformation. However, she doesn't exactly have a [[FieryRedhead hot temper]].
* FreudianTrio: Has this relationship with Mana (TheKirk) and Regina (TheMcCoy). [[spoiler:Semi-literal, since Aguri and Regina were originally part of the same person.]]
%%* FlashStep
* TheGadfly: It's suggested in episode 27 that she purposely put the other Cures through a tea ceremony just to see how they'd react.
* GratuitousFrench: "Adieu", and (combined with GratuitousEnglish) "Love Kiss ''[[Anime/YesPrettyCure5 Rouge]]''".
* HandWave: During the NonSerialMovie she suddenly appears in Makoto's LotusEaterMachine. When asked how she got there, she literally claims LoveTranscendsSpacetime.
* HappilyAdopted: Her [[spoiler:grandmother]] is not actually related to her; [[spoiler:she's a foster child.]]
* HeroicBSOD: In episode 43, upon learning that [[spoiler:everything she thought she knew about herself was wrong.]]
* HourOfPower: She can only [[spoiler:remain in her Precure form for five minutes at a time.]] However, after obtaining the [[spoiler:Eternal Golden Crown, time is no longer a problem.]]
* HumanizingTears: Like any Creator/RieKugimiya Type-A {{Tsundere}} (albeit a mild one), she breaks down crying before the other Cures at the first half of Episode 43 while in the middle of a HeroicBSOD [[spoiler:upon realizing that everything she knew about herself may have been a lie all along]].
* IdentityAmnesia: Episode 43 indicates that [[spoiler:Aguri is suffering from this]]. In episode 45, the [[spoiler:Eternal Golden Crown]] reveals to Aguri [[spoiler:her true identity.]]
* IdenticalStranger: Cure Ace looks a lot like Marie-Ange. In episode 35, Makoto explicitly states that Aguri reminds her of Ange, and Aguri says that she finds Ange familiar despite the fact that they supposedly had never met before the episode. Mana also mistook Aguri for Regina when she saw her from behind. Episode 45 and 46 [[spoiler:reveal that Aguri and Regina are both Ange's [[LiteralSplitPersonality Literal Split Personalities.]]]]
%%* LadyOfWar: She's a Pretty Cure and a graceful, feminine one.
%%* LawOfChromaticSuperiority: She's the strongest member in the team and possesses red as her main colour scheme
%%* LightFeminineAndDarkFeminine: [[spoiler:The light to Regina's dark]].
* LightningBruiser: She's stronger than the other Cures and is much faster than them.
* LiteralSplitPersonality: Both [[spoiler:Aguri and Regina]] are this to [[spoiler:Marie-Ange.]]
* MakeupWeapon: Cure Ace's weapon is the Love Kiss Rouge, a tube of lipstick that has different effects depending on which of the five colors is used.
* TheMentor: Both as Aguri and Cure Ace. As it turns out, she was fighting the Selfish long before the other Earth-born Cures got their powers. [[spoiler:Except that this was untrue.]]
* ModestyShorts: A quick glance during [[spoiler:the climax of NonSerialMovie]] shows that Ace does wear them.
%%* MsExposition: In Episode 27 and 30.
%%* NotSoAboveItAll: Despite initially seeming serious, she soon shows a more childish side.
* OlderAlterEgo: Her transformation sequence ages her body.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: She quietly goes to [[spoiler:Trump Kingdom Earth]] in episode 45 to confront [[spoiler:Regina with Jonathan and Cure Sword, leaving Mana in the dark.]]
* PetalPower: Rose petals. They are multifunctional, just as for teleporting, attacking, defending etc.
* PlayingWithFire: Her transformation sequence sets her on fire.
* PlotRelevantAgeUp
** In Episode 43, it's revealed that [[spoiler:Aguri landed on earth as a baby and was found by her grandmother Mari. They were immediately attacked by a Jikochuu, but they were protected by a light which purified the Jikochuu and the infant suddenly grew into a nine-year old child.]]
** [[InvertedTrope Inverted]], since she's the [[spoiler:light half of Ange and thus the Aguri we see is really Ange's Younger Alter Ego after she experienced Plot Relevant Age Down]].
* ThePowerOfLove: Cure Ace can get stronger by love. While the other Pretty Cure can get stronger by their own love, Ace becomes stronger by the love of other people, too.
* PowerUpFood: In Episode 37, she gets a PowerUp after eating a carrot which is full of the Aki Kadono's love, the carrot farmer.
* RaisedByGrandparents: She is raised by her grandmother. It's later revealed that Aguri [[spoiler:is a foster child and isn't biologically related to her grandmother.]]
%%* RedEyesTakeWarning: Though she's not evil... [[spoiler:[[BrainwashedAndCrazy and sort of is.]] ItMakesSenseInContext.]]
* RedIsHeroic: She's decked out predominantly in red and she's one of the Cures fighting the Selfish Kingdom.
%%* RegalRinglets: As Cure Ace.
%%* SecretTestOfCharacter: She does quite a bit of this to the other Cures.
%%* SergeantRock: To her teammates.
* ShoutOut:
** The jewel on her chest [[spoiler:starts to pulse red when her transformation is about to time out, just like ''Series/{{Ultraman}}'']].
** Her [[spoiler:origin]] and her relationship with her grandmother Mari is extremely similar to [[spoiler:[[Franchise/DragonBall Son Goku and his grandfather Son Gohan]]]]. Both of them [[spoiler:landed on earth as babies]] and [[spoiler:were found by]] their respective grandparents who (have) raised them.
%%* SomethingAboutARose
* TheSpock: Tends to be more pragmatic and conscious of rules than the other Cures, and less willing to show forgiveness to their enemies. [[spoiler:It comes from being a [[LiteralSplitPersonality physical embodiment]] of Princess Marie-Ange's sense of duty towards her people.]]
%%* SternTeacher: To her teammates.
* StoryBreakerPower: [[spoiler:Time limit aside]], her existence resulted in the last-minute additions of Leva and Gula as quick power ups for the villains so they balance out the battlefield. She was just ''that'' powerful in her first appearance.
* StrangerBehindTheMask:
** Meta-example. Since ''Anime/FutariWaPrettyCureSplashStar'', every SixthRanger in the franchise has been a character that appeared before. But after Cure Ace first appears, she is soon revealed to be an entirely new character.
** ZigZagged when it turns out [[spoiler:Aguri was actually a part of Marie-Ange the whole time.]]
* SweetTooth: She has a fondness for sweet foods.
* TagalongKid:
** Subverted. Aguri is a fourth-grader, but as Cure Ace, she's physically older than the others. [[spoiler:But when her time limit is over and she transforms back, Aguri is definitely this and helpless]].
** Because of her [[spoiler:time limit]], she doesn't transform immediately when the enemies appear and she has to wait until the time comes when the girls need her help.
%%* TaremeEyes
* {{Tsundere}}: [[PigeonholedVoiceActor As expected]] from Creator/RieKugimiya; however, Aguri is a downplayed version of Rie's usual type A, especially [[Literature/TheFamiliarOfZero compared]] to [[Literature/{{Toradora}} some]] other [[Literature/ShakuganNoShana examples]].
* TwoFirstNames: "Madoka" is usually a given name, not a surname.
* TinyTyrannicalGirl: Aguri has a bit of this. She spends much of her first appearances sternly lecturing the other Cures for not being strong enough. Ep. 32 sees her intimidating and lecturing many middle school students for relying too much on Mana.
* UnreliableExpositor: Quite a few things she initially says about herself [[spoiler:prove to be less-than correct. This is due to her IdentityAmnesia.]]
%%* WiseBeyondHerYears:
* WistfulAmnesia: She seems to have this reaction when entering the Trump Kingdom. [[spoiler:See LiteralSplitPersonality.]]

* NoIndoorVoice: He's very loud, he yells his very first line, not to mention how angry he sounds when he yells "[[SayMyName REEGIIIINAAAAAAAAA]]":
** Inverted in the following episode, when he talks to Regina with a calm, fatherly, but also monotone voice. [[spoiler:He brainwashes her anyway.]]
* ObviouslyEvil: A gigantic, dark-colored creature with SpikesOfVillainy, GlowingEyesOfDoom and RedEyesTakeWarning.
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: [[spoiler:He lost his wife in childbirth. Then his daughter fell ill and the doctors were unable to find a cure]].
* PassingTheTorch: [[spoiler:Gives up his throne to Joe, changing the kingdom into a republic in the process.]]
* {{Pride}}: [[spoiler:When you think that your love is not dispensable and your people are, you're a hubris-ridden man]].
%%* PsychoElectro
* RedEyesTakeWarning: His eyes are red and he's the BigBad.

* ShockAndAwe: Uses black and red colored lightning [[spoiler:upon awakening.]]
* [[SinisterSilhouettes Sinister Silhouette]]: He's the giant shadow Cure Sword sees at the beginning of the first episode.
** In Episode 42, we finally see a silhouette with this arms and his muscular body before he was sealed by the princess.
* SpikesOfVillainy: He's full of thorns as a sign of his villainy.
* ThatManIsDead: [[spoiler:He no longer sees himself as Marie-Ange's father, only as the King Jikochuu]].
* TragicVillain: [[spoiler:Even the characters can't really blame him for what happened.]]
* YouAreWorthHell: [[spoiler:Platonic version. When he was still the King of the Trump Kingdom, he was willing to sacrifice his kingdom for his daughter. King Jikochuu's daughter. After her first loss against the Precures, she decides to become friends with Mana - for selfish reasons. However, their relationship develops into a true friendship; she eventually goes through a HeelFaceTurn, but not much later she's thoroughly brainwashed by her father.

It's later revealed that she's the dark half of Princess Mari-Ange's psyche, with the light half being Aguri.
----
* EleventhHourRanger: In episode 47, [[spoiler:she joins the Precures]].
%%* AgeCut: In episode 46.
%%* AntiVillain: Type II.
* ArchEnemy: Due to their friendship, she's this to Cure Heart.
%%* BadassAdorable
* BadassFingersnap: Many of her magic abilities are activated by this (See also PersonOfMassDestruction below).
* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler:Regina regains her power and rescues Cure Heart from the pit of lava.]]
* BadassInDistress: [[spoiler:She turns into this when she regains her power, and she saves Cure Heart and herself by her own.]]
* BlowYouAway: [[spoiler:Upon being brainwashed, she can fire a black tornado out of her hand.]]
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: As of episode 22. In episode 46 [[spoiler:she unbrainwashes herself, but still follows her father anyway out of love.]]
* BrattyHalfPint: She is the second shortest female character in the show, and is always making the Selfish Trio do things for her.
* BreakTheCutie: [[spoiler:For all she's done in the series, she's one of three characters (the others being Mana and Makoto, the latter whose homeworld was destroyed) who get subjected to the most emotional torture in the whole series. In her case, though, the torture is [[PsychoElectro far]] [[ElectricTorture more]] [[BrainwashedAndCrazy serious]].]]
** CorruptTheCutie: [[spoiler:The dark essence that took her father also twisted her, the girl he would do anything to save. BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor, indeed.]]
* CaptainErsatz: One might say she's a villainous version of [[Franchise/SailorMoon Minako Aino/Sailor Venus]]. Coincidentally, they have the same actress in the English dub.
* CharacterDevelopment: A very dynamic one.
* CurbStompBattle: [[spoiler:After being brainwashed, Regina defeats the Precure without any struggles, but then Cure Ace appears and Regina is curb-stomped by her.]]
* CutenessOverload: When Ai-chan is involved.
* DaddysLittleVillain: She even uses her status to boss the Selfish Trio around.
* DamselInDistress: [[spoiler:Upon depowerment and snapping out of her psychotic state, the Selfish Trio kidnap her and take her back to King Jikochuu. She is also used as bait in episode 21 to lure Mana into a trap.]]
* DarkMagicalGirl: DMG comes in two varieties: immoral or enslaved. She's the former type. [[spoiler:Is shown to also be the enslaved type after she snaps out of her mind controlled state, saying her father terrifies her.]]
** In Episode 46 [[spoiler:she actually unbrainwashes herself, but still follows her father anyway out of love.]]
* DePower: [[spoiler:Loses her abilities in episode 20, for unexplained reasons (though it might have to do with the Royal Crystals). She then regains them the next episode, gets her powers sealed by King Jikochuu, then regains them again.]]
* TheDragon: To her father, King Jikochuu. Her summoned Jikochuus are powerful enough to withstand and break the Precures' individual MidSeasonUpgrade attacks.
* EarlyBirdCameo: She actually appears in the first opening as a silhouette in front of King Jikochuu.
* EnemyWithout: [[spoiler:To Cure Ace.]]
* EvilCostumeSwitch: Well. More Evil Costume Switch: [[spoiler:Although it's more a BrainwashedAndCrazy Costume Switch, as it turns back after she breaks the brainwashing in Episode 46.]]
* EvilCounterpart: To all Precures. She is the evil blond girl to [[HairOfGoldHeartOfGold Cure Heart]], the SpoiledBrat to [[SpoiledSweet Alice]], comes from a different world like Cure Sword and wants to be Mana's only friend in contrast to Rikka. Also, her black and [[spoiler:(former)]] red features of her appearance contrast the in white and red clad Cure Ace.
* EvilWearsBlack: Her costume is mainly black. [[spoiler:During her temporarily HeelFaceTurn, she wears red clothes on the beach, but later switches to her black costume. Probably because the animation studio makes her joining the evil side again anyway.]]
* FaceMonsterTurn: [[spoiler:Gets brainwashed by her father AGAIN, and gets increased power, with the red parts of her outfit now turned purple, as well as her eyes now permanently red. Granted, she's always falling victim to this at varying intensities for periods of varying lengths, but this time, it would seem she got it far worse than ever before.]]
* FingerPokeOfDoom: She creates Jikochuus by corrupting the people's hearts with a finger beam. She can also attack with finger beams.
** [[spoiler:After being brainwashed and her heart being completely engulfed by her fathers shadow, the finger beams turn into KamehameHadouken's out of her fingers.]]
** {{Foreshadowing}}: [[spoiler:This proves to be a hint about her true nature; Aguri also did this in episode 23, and episode 45 reveals that both are Marie-Ange.]]
* {{Flight}}: One of her common abilities.
** ChekhovsGun: In Episode 21, [[spoiler:when she regains her power and rescues Cure Heart]].
* FreudianTrio: Acts as TheMcCoy of a trio with Cure Ace as TheSpock and Mana as TheKirk. [[spoiler:Semi-literal, since Regina was formed from Marie-Ange's feelings towards her father while Cure Ace was formed from her sense of duty towards her people.]]
* GenkiGirl: A particularly villainous example. [[ItsAllAboutMe She is always cheerful because she always gets what she wants.]]
* GoodAllAlong: [[spoiler:Both she and Aguri are Marie-Ange; specifically, she's Marie-Ange's darker side that was separated from her in an attempt to foil the evil machinations of Bel.]]
* GracefulLoser: In episode 15, she actually seems amused by the fact that the Precure defeated the Jikochuu she created.
** SoreLoser: In episode 19, [[spoiler:when she lost the Jikochuu game and refused to hand over the four Royal Crystals.]]
*** Happens again in episode 23, [[spoiler:when she loses to Cure Ace and yells at ''Mana'' she won't forgive the Precures.]]
--> '''Regina''': [[spoiler:"Precure... I won't ever forgive you! '''PRECUUUUUUUURE!!'''" *vanish*]]
** [[spoiler:In both of these cases, she's under mind control, so the point may be that despite her selfishness, she's naturally a GracefulLoser, while the SoreLoser tendencies show that she's [[NotHimself not herself]]. ''Especially'' true in episode 23.]]
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: Episodes 22 and 46.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:Episode 20 finally has her do one these as the result of the Royal Crystals leading her and Mana to Marie-Ange, which snaps her out of her psychotic state. Before she can stay by Mana's side, the Selfish Trio kidnaps her and the frozen Marie-Ange.]]
** [[spoiler:She joins the Precure in Episode 21... [[HereWeGoAgain ...Only to be brainwashed by her father AGAIN]]!]]
** [[spoiler:She finally joins for real in episode 47.]]
* HeelRealization: A minor one in episode 16, but significant as [[spoiler:she starts to realize after fighting Pretty Cure in that episode that her idea of trying to befriend Mana (i.e. killing her actual friends) may not have been the best way to go about it. Upon getting the Red Royal Crystal, she goes nuts for a few episodes, but by episode 20, she finally snaps out of that at least until being brainwashed again in episode 22.]]
* HeterosexualLifePartners: [[spoiler:[[LesYay The hetero part is debatable]], but she's living with Mana now.]]
* IChooseToStay: [[spoiler:She and her father now live with the Aida family, with Regina transferring to Oogai First Middle School in the process.]]
* ItsAllAboutMe: And how!
* InnocentBlueEyes: Her blue-eyed mode is her "least evil" mode.
* KaleidoscopeEyes: Her eyes keep changing from one color to another as a sign of how mind-controlled she is.
* KamehameHadouken: Fires them out of her fingers [[spoiler:after her father brainwashes her AGAIN and powers her up.]] Not necessarily with her fingers, though.
* KubrickStare: Watch episode 18.
* LackOfEmpathy: She ''is'' the daughter of Selfishness itself, after all.
%%* LargeHam
* LickedByTheDog: Ai-chan, the cute baby fairy, really likes her despite her being from the Selfish Kingdom. Surprisingly, Regina likes her back. Just one of many hints that Regina isn't so bad.
* LightFeminineAndDarkFeminine: [[spoiler:The dark to Aguri's light]].
* LiteralSplitPersonality: [[spoiler:To Marie-Ange along with Cure Ace.]]
* LoveHurts: Literally! Being in (platonic) love with Mana brings great pain to her chest. [[spoiler:When she cast away that feeling she stops being in pain.]]
* LoveMakesYouEvil: [[spoiler:Even when she escapes her brainwashing, she joins her father out of love.]]
* {{Lust}}: She's driven by her desire[[note]]Intense longing for someone or something, not necessarily sexual[[/note]]. Her desire for Mana makes the plot of episode 16. Whether it's the lewd kind of desire is up to anyone's guess.
** [[spoiler:At the end of episode 46, her strong desire to be with her father makes her stay by her father's side ''without'' being brainwashed.]]
* MidSeasonUpgrade: [[spoiler:When her father brainwashes her, she becomes more powerful and defeats the four Precure easily.]]
** [[spoiler:Due of her lack of level grinding, she's outmatched by them in Episode 39, but then she pulls out the Miracle Dragon Glaive, making her equal to the other Cures.]]
** [[spoiler:She eventually unlocks the full power of the said weapon in Episode 47, most likely making her that much stronger.]]
* MindControl: [[spoiler:The Red Royal Crystal turns her batshit insane, her eyes gaining a red glow that glows stronger with more crystals gathered around her. She snaps out of it after she and Mana are led to Marie-Ange. See NotHerself below]].
* MyCountryRightOrWrong: My Father, Right or Wrong: [[spoiler:She only sides with her BrainwashedAndCrazy father in episode 46 because she truly loves him.]]
* IAmXSonOfY: My Name Is Regina, Daughter of King Jikochuu: Her first introduction. And later, when she introduces herself to the Precures.
* MysteriousWatcher: Her first appearance at the very end of episode 12.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: [[spoiler:She greedily grabs the Eternal Golden Crown from Cure Ace's hands, forcing her to see what actually happened in the past. This breaks her out from King Jikochuu's brainwashing]].
* NoSocialSkills: Justified, she comes from the Selfish Kingdom.
* NotBrainwashed: [[spoiler:Episode 46.]]
* NotHerself: [[spoiler:After she gets the red Royal Crystal, she turns veeery bad, contrary to her earlier personality. There are times where she ''almost'' snaps out of it. It's later suggested that her reaction to the Royal Crystals was the result of being part of Marie-Ange.]]
** [[spoiler:She snaps out of it for real in episode 20 when she brings the crystals together and reveals the location of the frozen Marie-Ange.]]
** [[spoiler:It happens to her again after King Jikochuu re-power and brainwash her in episode 22. And this time she's seriously kicking ass.]]
** [[spoiler:{{Averted}} for the last part of her rampage. [[NotBrainwashed She is being herself, blue eyes and all]], when she goes to King Jikochuu's side to destroy Earth: she truly loves her father.]]
* ObviouslyEvil: The Cures couldn't guess that Regina is this at first.
* {{Ojou}}: The daughter of an evil king. Also, Bel often calls her "ojou".
* OnlyTheChosenMayWield: [[spoiler:The four Cures aren't able to pull the Princess Mari-Ange's Miracle Dragon Glaive out of the ground. Regina can.]]
** [[spoiler:It's later revealed that Regina is [[LiteralSplitPersonality half of Ange]]. [[FridgeLogic Which makes you wonder why Cure Ace can't do that]] - [[FridgeBrilliance at least until you realize Ace is the only one who didn't get a chance to try before Regina arrived]].]]
* [[PaintItBlack Paint It Blacker]]: [[spoiler:Her outfit after King Jikochuu re-power her.]]
* PersonOfMassDestruction: If she wants, she can destroy Mana's school with a single fingersnap. Fortunately, Mana can prevent this action.
* PintsizedPowerhouse: Being King Jikochuu's daughter makes her much stronger than the Selfish Trio (Bel being a possible exception [[BrilliantButLazy when getting serious]]).
** After [[spoiler:her father brainwashes her in Episode 22, she can now fire KamehameHadouken's out of her fingers at a level that [[Anime/YesPrettyCure5 Cure Mint]] would be proud of, and casually, to boot.]]
* PowerDyesYourHair: Subverted. [[spoiler:Her hair color becomes paler when she gets her MidSeasonUpgrade by her father. It gives her a colder appearance.]]
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: [[spoiler:''Very'' proper, if episode 45's twist is anything to go by.]]
* ProudBeauty: When she sees Mana's photo album, she says that child Mana was cute... but not as cute as herself.
** In episode 13, she says that she hates everything that is more beautiful than her.
* PurpleIsPowerful: [[spoiler:Her [[EvilCostumeSwitch More Evil Costume Switch]] changes the red parts of her costume into purple.]]

** TheBusCameBack: [[spoiler:She eventually awakes in the end of episode 37.]]

** The red parts turns purple after [[spoiler:King Jikochuu brainwashes her and powers her up.]]
** [[spoiler:Subverted in the end. Even when she joins the Precure, lives on Earth and fights for good, she still wears her black and red costume.]]
* RedemptionEarnsLife: [[spoiler:Her end fate.]]
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Her blue eyes turn red after gaining [[spoiler:the red Royal Crystal]] in episode 17. [[spoiler:And she becomes really evil. It's a sign of Mind Control.]]
** [[spoiler:Has them long-term after being brainwashed by her father in episode 22. The red eyes start to fade to blue as the mind control weakens, until they return to blue completely in episode 46, when she decides she doesn't need to be controlled to follow her father.]]
* RedHerring: [[spoiler:It looked like she would become the SixthRanger Pretty Cure. It didn't happen. However, she becomes the EleventhHourRanger ''and'' the SixthRanger in the end, but not as a Cure.]]
* SayMyName: "Mana!"
** Also, her name "Regina!" is shouted very often.
* ScrewTheRulesIMakeThem: In episode 19, during the Jikochuu Game.
* ShapingYourAttacks: With the [[spoiler:Miracle Dragon Glaive]], she can fire a beam with the shape of a dragon.

* SixthRanger: [[spoiler:After being the EleventhHourRanger in the GrandFinale, she joins the Precure and fights with them for good. Unfortunately, this does not make her a main character, and she suffers from her unofficial heroine status like the Kiryuu twins and Royale Candy.]]
* SlasherSmile: When she gets reeeally evil.
* TheSociopath: Seems like one at first, but this is gradually subverted through CharacterDevelopment.
* SphereOfDestruction: [[spoiler:After being Brainwashed, she creates one of these to finish off the Pretty Cure after they are forced out of their forms. It gets intercepted by Cure Ace just in the nick of time, though.]]
* SpoiledBrat: She expects everyone to cater to her whims. The Selfish Trio can't really go against her since she's King Jikochuu's daughter.
* SuperStrength: See PintsizedPowerHouse above.
* TearsOfJoy: After she become aware that her father [[spoiler:sacrificed his kingdom to heal her]]. Indeed, it was such a great love. [[spoiler:{{Subverted}}. It's perhaps joy, but she is actually pushed to the breaking point because she can't choose between siding with her father or with Mana]].
* TokenGoodTeammate: [[spoiler:Before brainwashing.]] Downplayed, since she wasn't good neither, just spoiled.
** Played straight after being fully free from the influence of the red Royal Crystal.
* TragicVillain: [[spoiler:Heck, her entire existence is based off selfish love for her father.]]
* {{Troll}}: She loves pushing people's buttons.
* {{Tsundere}}: [[spoiler:The brainwashed Regina is this to Mana. When she accidentally blurts out that she likes Mana and Cure Heart just hears it, Regina's turns completely red. Either that was a FreudianSlip on Regina's part, or cracks are finally starting to show in the brainwashing...]]
%%* TsurimeEyes
* TheUnfettered: She doesn't understand the concept of 'obligation'. If there is someone she likes, she doesn't care that that someone may have obligation to people other than her. Mana has a student council to attend? Why, just destroy the school, then there won't be a council!
** [[spoiler:And after being brainwashed, rinsed and dried by her father yet again in episode 22, this trope goes to eleven.]]
* VillainForgotToLevelGrind: Justified, she was [[spoiler:PutOnABus in episode 23 and slept until her reappearance in episode 37, while the other four girls became stronger, and then even more stronger after gaining the Magical Lovely Pad. * {{Yandere}}: Platonic version. She goes to great lengths to make sure that she is Mana's only friend - by getting rid of her other teammates. This backfires hard.

[[folder: Selfish Agents ]]

[[folder:Selfish Agents in General]]
The [[QuirkyMinibossSquad primary agents]] of the evil force known as "Jikochuu", each named after one of the SevenDeadlySins. Though they appear to be human on first glance, they can be identified by their pale blue/white hair and [[LittleBitBeastly the small demonic wings behind their ears]]. They can create additional [[MonsterOfTheWeek Jikochuu]] by amplifying the darkness in someone's heart (their "Psyche") and then forcibly separating the contaminated Psyche from its human body.
----
* BadassFingersnap: How they create Dark Psyches.
* BattleAura: They are sometimes surrounded by evil energy. [[spoiler:Ai-chan can unleash their surpressed energy by crying.]]
* ButNowIMustGo: [[spoiler:Their existence are tied to Proto-Jikochuu. When he's awake so are they, and vice versa. Proto-Jikochuu is defeated and forced into dormancy in the finale, which means the Selfish Agents are to return to long, long sleep. They aren't exactly bitter about it, since selfishness will always exist and they will rise again]].
** [[spoiler:In case of Ira, he feels slightly reassured that there will always be people like Rikka to meet again in the future.]]
* {{Flight}}: A common ''Anime/PrettyCure'' villain ability.
* ItsAllAboutMe: All of them are very haughty, vain and arrogant, looking down on everyone, even the Pretty Cure team.
* JerkassGenie: How they summon the MonstersOfTheWeek. They say they would fulfill the selfish desires of the [[VictimOfTheWeek Victims of the Week]], but they [[PaintItBlack corrupt]] their hearts, rip them off and turn those into Jikochuus. And the victims don't even ''respond'' to their "offer".
* LackOfEmpathy: They are selfish, after all.
* LaughablyEvil: Sometimes, you think they are just Comic Relief Characters.
%%* NeverMyFault
* ObviouslyEvil: Their names are based on the SevenDeadlySins, another tell-tale sign of their villainy.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: They are subtle example of DemonLordsAndArchdevils. Each of them is an embodiment of human vice, and as such can empower vice-laden humans. When they need better minion, they simply possess those humans. [[spoiler:And they are tied to the prime evil, Proto-Jikochuu]].
* OutOfFocus: The Selfish Trio loses spotlight to the Selfish Deputies and Regina.
* QuirkyMinibossSquad:
** TerribleTrio: Ira, Mamo and Bel. The Selfish Trio. Like almost all {{Terrible Trio}}s in previous series, they rarely work together and they have even less team spirit. Also, they are often {{Butt Monkey}}s.
* ReligiousAndMythologicalThemeNaming: Three of the five members of the QuirkyMinibossSquad are named after three of the demons that represent the SevenDeadlySins: Bel is named after Belphegor, demon of sloth, Mamo after Mammon, demon of greed, and Leva after Leviathan, demon of envy. Ira and Gula are partial [[OddNameOut Odd names out]], partial because "ira" and "gula" are Latin for "Wrath" and "Gluttony", respectively, (as in the Deadly Sins).
** The demon associated with wrath is {{Satan}}, which might be hard to put into a kid's show. [[Anime/DragonBallZ (But then again...)]]
*** A better reason would be that ''iraira'' means getting irritated in Japanese. Which fits his character.
** The demon for gluttony is Beelzebub, which was probably changed because of [[OneSteveLimit Bel's similar name.]]
** Finally, the unknown two members get their names in [[AllThereInTheManual Official Complete Book]]: Lust of {{Lust}} and Gouma of {{Pride}}. The two are ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin in German and Japanese respectively, thus making them a straight case of OddNameOut.
* SevenDeadlySins: Reflected by their names and personalities.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS:
** Ira/Eera
** Mamo/Marmo/Mammo
** Bel/Bale/Pell
** Leva/Leeva/Liva/Reva/Riva
** Gula/Gura
** Lust/Roost
** Gouma/Goma/Gorma/Gooma
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: Their eyes are yellow, an indicator that they're not human.
* VillainTeleportation: Another common ''Anime/PrettyCure'' villain ability.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Many of them have white hair, but they're all villains.

%%* PlayingWithFire: In Episode 22.
* ProfessionalButtKisser: To Bel in later episodes, since she's [[spoiler:enslaved by wearing his Blood Ring until Episode 38.]]
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Though the gender of the two unseen agents are unknown.
* SuperpowersForADay: [[spoiler:When she accidentally finds Sebastian's artificial commune, she uses it to become Cutie Madame. Of course, she only fakes being a hero.]]
* SweetTooth: Enjoys sweets and can be seen eating them in some scenes.
* VillainousGlutton: She's almost always seen eating or drinking something. It got worse, since [[spoiler:the Blood Ring she wears contains Gula's evil energy]].
* WhipOfDominance: She fights with a purple whip, fitting her domineering, bossy, and overbearing demeanor, and she'd often use the whip to chain and bind her enemies.

An sunglasses-wearing older man who acts as one of the primary agents of "Jikochuu". He is named after Belphegor, the demon who represents "sloth". He, Ira and Mamo form a team known as the Selfish Trio.
----
* ArchEnemy: Subverted. It looks like he would be one to Cure Heart or Cure Sword, but in the end, he isn't.
* BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork: [[spoiler:He kills both Leva and Gula after they were defeated by the Precures.]]
* BeardOfEvil
* BreakingSpeech: [[spoiler:He attempts to call Marie-Ange's out in her selfish desire to save her father. Marie-Ange breaks her darkened heart in response]].
* BrilliantButLazy: Corresponding to the sin he is named after. He is the most powerful of the Selfish Trio but often doesn't bother to take action.
* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder: This guy has serious issues when it comes to not betraying others.
** [[spoiler:He plans on betraying King Jikochuu and gain more power than anyone else. He let Regina fall into boiling hot lava pit when he thinks he can get rid of her this way.]]
** [[spoiler:He kills Leva and Gula and use their body to create Blood Rings, and he then tricks Mamo and Ira into putting them on, which lets him control them to an extent]].
** [[spoiler:When Cure Ace confronts Regina, he tries to overpower both of them with a lot of Jikochu at once as they have been worn out from the duel]].
* DoesNotLikeSpam: He hates carrots.
* DragonAscendant: [[spoiler:He eats the remains of King Jikochuu and becomes the final villain.]]
** [[spoiler:[[SubvertedTrope Or not]].]]
* EmbarrassingNickname: He really doesn't like being called "Bel-chan" by [[CampGay Leva]].
* TheEvilGenius: The term "evil" fits, his plans are more vicious and radical than Mamo's. His first plan is sending the Precures to another dimension and making them desperate. His second plan involves [[spoiler:kidnapping Ai-chan]] and forcing Mana to fight him alone in his trap zone. His third plan [[spoiler:is killing both Cure Heart and Regina by throwing them in a pit of lava and the only thing that saves them is a spider string; either Regina would betray Heart and Bel would cut the string to kill her, too, or both would fall and die]]. And later, [[spoiler:he absorbs Leva and Gula's evil energy after they ultimately lose to the Precures and kills those guys off]]. [[spoiler:Then he tries to turn Ai-chan into a Jikochuu.]] However, his attempt to [[spoiler:gain the Miracle Dragon Glaive for himself]] backfires.
* EvilLaugh: Countered by Mana's ''own'' EvilLaugh.
* ForTheEvulz: He likes breaking the will of other people or proving that love doesn't stop somebody acting selfish/evil. [[spoiler:He's correct about that last part]].
* HopeCrusher: See ForTheEvulz above.
* InsultBackfire: Tells the Precure that being considered a coward is "the highest honor a Selfish can receive."
* ItsPersonal: Bel sets up a plan to battle Cure Heart one-on-one in retribution for her delivering the finishing blow against him in their first battle.
* KamehameHadouken: In Episode 22.
* KickTheDog: He uses [[spoiler:Regina as a decoy and tries to kill her, after she was electrocuted by her father and is still being de-powered.]] And later, [[spoiler:he kills Leva and Gula after they were defeated by the Precures' finisher move.]]
* KnightOfCerebus: Whenever he decides to get serious, things get edgy.
* LackOfEmpathy: Even after [[spoiler:Regina was punished by her father]], he used her as a decoy and tries to ''kill'' her.
* ManipulativeBastard: Oh yes he is. [[spoiler:He replaces Regina, and later Leva and Gula this way.]]
* OutOfFocus: While the Selfish Trio already suffers from {{Spotlight Stealing Squad}}s, Bel gets much less screentime than Ira and Mamo. And he's not even TheDragon, who usually get less screentime than other villains. Considering his [[{{Sloth}} vice]], this could be justified.
* PaperThinDisguise: In Episode 39, [[spoiler:when he transforms into Joe, he still obviously wear an apron with Bel's color theme and his scarf, and often acts out of Joe's character. The heroines and mascots use this as ''their'' advantage.]]
* ProfessionalButtKisser: To Regina. [[spoiler:Then subverted when he tricks her into speaking out against her father. He actually wants an excuse to kill Regina so that he can be the king's Number Two.]]
* RapidFireFisticuffs: A ShoutOut to [[Manga/FistOfTheNorthStar Kenshiro's Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken]], including a [[spoiler:TemporaryBulkChange]] and '''[[{{Kiai}} ATATATATATATATATATATA]]'''.
* ShockAndAwe: Not for fun. Except in Episode 32 and afterwards, where it's used for fun at Ira and Mamo's expense.
* SleepModeSize: [[spoiler:He's turned into a mouse at the end of the series.]]
* {{Sloth}}: His defining vice. He is driven to avoid more confrontation with the Cures, and thus in the few times he appear, he's giving his all. But he's not strong enough, so it's always more work for him.
** [[spoiler:He waits until Leva and Gula ultimately fail to defeat the Precures and absorbs their evil energy.]]
* SmugSnake: He thinks, he could defeat the Pretty Cures or [[spoiler:becoming the Jikochuu's number two or even number one]]. But most of his plans don't work.
* TheStarscream: [[spoiler:To Regina at least. He tries to kill her so that he could usurp her position in the hierarchy. He also thinks, he could usurp King Jikochuus position.]]
** [[spoiler:He does it again to Leva and Gula.]]
** [[spoiler:In Episode 38, he dreams of taking King Jikochuu's place. [[DragonAscendant And in Episode 48...]]]]
* SweetTooth: Apparently. He is often seen with lolipops.
* TemporaryBulkChange: In Episode 38, [[spoiler:he uses the two Blood Rings to become a muscle monster guy called Super Bel. [[OneHitKill It's utterly ineffective]]]].
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: His lolipops. He's often seen sucking them.
** ChekhovsGun: [[spoiler:He kills Leva and Gula by absorbing their evil energy with his pink lollipop which turns red.]]
* VillainDecay: He gets hit with this hard at the end of Episode 38 (admittedly because the Cures defeated him, but still). And in Episode 39 [[spoiler:the Cures actually see through his EvilPlan... and take advantage of it!]]
** [[spoiler:Completely subverted in Episode 48... and double subverted next episode.]]
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: In Episode 39 he's shown to, transform into other people and he can even mimic their voices. [[spoiler:He disguises himself as Joe.]]
** MorphicResonance[=/=][[spoiler:GlamourFailure]]: However, [[spoiler:even transformed, some of Bel's clothes are still worn by his transformed form. And he seems to need a wig.]]
* WouldHurtAChild: He was about to kill Ai-chan when Diamond, Sword and Rosetta came as Heart's reinforcement, judging that she's breaking the deal. However, Ai-chan saved herself.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: [[spoiler:He kills Leva and Gula in Episode 31 after they lose their final battle.]]

* PermaStubble: It makes him looks like the stereotypical ''[[CampGay okama]]''. [[spoiler:His "face" of his fusion form has this, too.]]
* SerialEscalation: His and Gula's immense strength are the result of the writers throwing in something last minute to power up the villain team by the mid-way point, since Cure Ace was ''that'' much powerful in her first appearance.

A heavy-set man who is named after the Latin/Spanish/Portuguese word for "gluttony" (''gula''). His partner is Leva. He and Leva are killed by Bel who drains their evil energy in Episode 31. His evil energy is contained in one of the Blood Rings which is worn by Mamo.
----
* ArcVillain: Along with Leva, he's the villain from episode 23 to episode 31 [[spoiler:where he dies.]]
* BeardOfEvil: He has a small chin beard. It was forgotten in the preview before he was introduced.
* BellyMouth: [[spoiler:The fusion of him and Leva has two faces that represent them. Gula's face is on the torso which has a big mouth.]]
* BigEater: He's eating, eating, eating...
* BodyToJewel: [[spoiler:See Leva's entry above]].
* BrainsAndBrawn: He has the brawn, Leva has the brain.
* BreathWeapon: Inverted. He eats attacks and inhales them instead of breathing out attacks.
* TheBrute: Easily the biggest of the Selfish Agents.
* DumbMuscle: Averted. He isn't particularly dumb and has average intelligence. However, his habit of eating things like bowling pins or couches doesn't speak for his intelligence.
* ExtremeOmnivore: He can even eat [[spoiler:the Precure attacks]].
* FatAndSkinny: The fat guy to the skinny Leva.
* FatBastard: Annoy him and he tries to eat you.
* FusionDance: [[spoiler:With Leva.]]
** OneWingedAngel
* [[VillainousGlutton Gluttony]]: His vice, introduced while swallowing a chicken whole, and [[spoiler:can eat Precure attacks]]. You see him eating all the time.
* IAmAHumanitarian: He tries to eat Cure Diamond when he attacks her. Later, he tries to eat Aguri's grandmother.
* KilledOffForReal: Dies when Bel drains his evil energy.
* MeaningfulName: Gula means "Gluttony" in Latin, Spanish and Portuguese.
* NoBodyLeftBehind: Bel absorbed his energy, leaving just dust behind.
* SerialEscalation: His and Leva's immense strength are the result of the writers throwing in something last minute to power up the villain team by the mid-way point, since Cure Ace was ''that'' much powerful in her first appearance.
* StraightGay: Suggested he's this to Leva, at least.
* TonsOfTeeth: All his teeths are fangs.
* TopheavyGuy: His legs are a bit short and noticeably skinnier than his muscular arms, too skinny for his fat/muscular body. Because of his legs, his arms look [[CreepilyLongArms creepily long]].
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: [[spoiler:After his and Leva's final defeat, Bel absorbs their evil energy into his lollipop, turning them both to dust.]]

!!Proto-Jikochuu
!!!Voiced by: Creator/MasamiIwasaki
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/perfil_de_protojikochu_min.png]]
The original origin of the Selfish, this being was sealed underneath the castle of the Trump Kingdom with the Eternal Golden Crown. It is the being the three legendary Precure defeated 10,000 years prior. Its dark essence nearly kills Marie-Ange. The King removes the Crown to save Ange, and coupled with his own selfish desires to keep Marie Ange alive, unleashes the essence from its prison. It eventually corrupts the King, turning him into King Jikochuu and kicking off the events of this series in full swing.
----
* AndThenWhat: Mana calls him out on this, saying that if he gets rid of everyone else he'll be alone...and therefore, he won't be selfish anymore. [[VillainousBreakdown This makes him throw a tantrum.]]
* AsLongAsThereIsEvil: As long as Selfishness exists, he will return. Or so he says. It's implied that Mana finally killed him off for real.
* BadassArmfold: He crosses his middle arms during the early part of the battle.
* BatmanCanBreatheInSpace: In the finale.
* BellyMouth: And it has a BreathWeapon.
* BigBadWannabe: Unlike [[Anime/HeartcatchPrettyCure Dune]] and [[Anime/SuitePrettyCure Noise]], Proto-Jikochuu has no control over King Jikochuu, his minions or the setting, despite Proto-Jikochuu being the TheCorrupter to King Jikochuu. And he's significantly less dangerous than King Jikochuu.
* BreathWeapon: From the BellyMouth. The beam is purple instead of black.
* ColonyDrop: Happens to himself when Partheneon Cure Heart kicks him from the space to the ground.
* TheCorruption: Turned the king of the Trump Kingdom into King Jikochuu. He also tries this to Cure Heart, but fails.
* DarkIsEvil: He's purple and uses black energy and black lightning attacks.
* DemonicPossession: Of the Trump Kingdom's King, but King Jikochuu was still doing his own thing.
* DevourTheDragon: Inverted: [[DragonAscendant The dragon-wannabe devours him!]] But subverted in the final episode, where this bites Bel in the ass.
* DiabolusExNihilo: Kinda. He was referenced earlier, but he only appears and gets a name in the last episode.
* EvilIsPetty: The {{Imagine Spot}}s in the final episode have him doing this.
* FlashStep: He can move this fast.
* GreaterScopeVillain: He's the reason why the Jikochuu existed and their terror of Trump Kingdom was started, as he's behind the corruption of King Trump a year before the events of the series. And he's also fought the three legendary Cures ten millennia ago before he was [[SealedEvilInACan sealed inside Trump Kingdom protected by the Eternal Golden Crown]].
* HornedHumanoid: He has three horns.
* KamehameHadouken: Can fire beams from his hands.
* LightningBruiser: He's quite strong, tough and fast.
* MeaningfulName: The "proto" in his name implies that he's an imperfect version of the perfect Jikochuu, reflecting his lack of great danger in comparison to King Jikochuu.
* MonsterOfTheWeek: The final one, he gets defeated the same way as the other Jikochuus.
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: Has six arms.
* PostClimaxConfrontation: He is the final enemy fought in the series, but his battle is not as climatic as the battle with King Jikochuu, with the latter being far more dangerous due to Proto-Jikochu possessing a less powerful vessel. He is quickly taken out once Cure Heart goes Parthenon Mode.
* PurpleIsPowerful: His body is purple. Unfortunately, he's not as powerful as a final villain is supposed to be.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: He has red eyes and is the biggest monster in the series.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: His entire appearance is red, black and purple, and he's the last villain the Pretty Cure must confront.
* SealedEvilInACan: Is sealed in the Trump Kingdom by the three Legendary Pretty Cures 10,000 years ago. And later, when corrupted the king's heart, he's inside of King Jikochuu's body.
* ShockAndAwe: Fires lightnings from his hands to corrupt Cure Heart's Psyche. It doesn't work in the end.
* SignificantDoubleCasting: He has the same voice actor as the MonstersOfTheWeek. Unsurprisingly, he is defeated in much the same way.
* SpikesOfVillainy: On his shoulders and neck.
* TrueFinalBoss: After Bel consumes the last of King Jikochuu, Proto-Jikochu is both this and PostFinalBoss. He can take on the Cures and Regina all at once and even nearly succeeded in corrupting Cure Heart's psyche, but once she goes Parthenon Mode, he goes down like any other MonsterOfTheWeek. To his credit though, he's an incomplete Jikochu and is currently possessing Bel (who is not as powerful as King Jikochu) at that time.
* VillainousBreakdown: See AndThenWhat. Later, after he gives his AsLongAsThereIsEvil speech, Mana puts him through another one that actually causes him to go down like a MonsterOfTheWeek... and it's implied he went down for good.
* WalkingSpoiler: His entire existence is a big spoiler.
* WingedHumanoid: He has two wings.
* YouRemindMeOfX: During his fight with the Pretty Cures, when he gets his ass kicked by Cure Heart, she reminds him of Cure Empress.
