[[folder: The First Five]]
!!!As a whole
* ActionSurvivor: All of them have to think quick, or improvise on defending themselves in order to live and escape Heavenly Host. [[spoiler: In fact they're the only ones that made it out alive until ''Blood Drive''.]]
* DarkAndTroubledPast: With the exception of Yoshiki, the rest of them had pretty normal lives. By the time ''Blood Drive'' occurs, everything they've faced so far, appears to becoming this for them. [[spoiler: However, with how things turned out, this might be more notably towards [[AngstComa Ayu]][[HeroicSacrifice mi]] [[FromBadToWorse and]] [[IChooseToStay Yosh]][[FateWorseThanDeath iki]], they both practically got the [[DownerEnding worst kind of ending for them out of everyone]].]]
* DeathByAdaptation: It can range from [[spoiler: Satoshi, Yuka, and Yoshiki]] in the ''Tortured Souls'' ova, [[spoiler: Satoshi, Yuka, and Naomi with the hinted possibly of Yoshiki and Ayumi eventually not too far behind]] in the ''Corpse Party: Musume'' manga to the light novel.
* DemonicPossession: Depending on which installment, but the only one so far who hasn't been succumbed to this is [[spoiler: Satoshi Mochida.]]
* DespairEventHorizon: All of them can fall into this if on the way to a bad ending, or sometimes in the main storyline it can be inevitable for one of them to cross this. [[spoiler: Should any of them do while trapped inside Heavenly Host, the darkening can cause them to be BrainwashedAndCrazy.]] It usually never ends well.
* DrivenToSuicide: It varies from adaption to situation, but most of them will cross this if they've had [[DespairEventHorizon enough]]. You can avoid these, but others [[spoiler: will still at least attempt it. Sometimes, they'll succeed.]]
* KidHero: None of them are even in their final year of high school, let alone Yuka who is fourteen years old. The oldest out of them, are Satoshi, Yoshiki, and Ayumi who are seventeen.
* SanitySlippage: Any of them can fall into this if not careful, thus getting locked into a bad ending. On the other hand, this can still sometimes be inevitable, and you can only do your best not to let it end horrifying.
* TraumaCongaLine: As you keep going farther into the main storyline, the horrors they all witness only continue to go FromBadToWorse. Poor kids have no choice but to keep moving forward otherwise they'll continue to endure [[BreakTheCutie breaking broken]] even if they've '''this''' close from crossing into DespairEventHorizon.

!!!Satoshi Mochida
-->Voiced by: Creator/HiroShimono
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tropes_cp_satoshi_102.jpeg

An OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent at Kisaragi Academy, Satoshi serves as the main protagonist (though [[AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent the others get their time in the spotlight]], especially from ''Blood Covered'' on). Generally a NiceGuy, he tends to get picked on a bit by his classmates due to his fear of ghost stories.
-----
* AnArmAndALeg: In ''Tortured Souls'', he gives his own paper scrap to Naomi and uses Kizami's for himself. After he, Naomi, and Ayumi perform the ritual, the scene cuts to Naomi and Ayumi sitting back in the classroom, [[spoiler: each holding one of Satoshi's severed arms.]]
* BadassBoast: His first appearance in the game has him, without a trace of fear, say he will rescue everyone. Which is pretty badass for a guy shaking from scary stories earlier and stuck in that school.
* BigBrotherInstinct: A very strong case towards his sister Yuka.
* CluelessChickMagnet: He attracts the attention of [[spoiler:three girls - Naomi, Ayumi, and his sister Yuka]]. The LighterAndSofter spin off Sachiko's Game of Love; Hysteric Birthday 2U, jokingly adds Yui and Tohko. But he is, of course, ObliviousToLove as per the trope.
* CowardlyLion: Yes, he's terrified. That doesn't stop him from doing everything in his power to find a way out for his sister, his friends, and himself.
* DeathByAdaptation: In the [[spoiler: Tortured Souls OVA]] and in [[spoiler:''Corpse Party: Musume''.]]
* DeadpanSnarker: In Book of Shadow, it was remarked he and Yui had a lot of snark to snark battles. He wasn't one in Blood Covered, but that's [[EldritchLocation justified]].
* DeclarationOfProtection: Towards Yuka, naturally. Failing this can push him over the DespairEventHorizon.
* DrivenToSuicide: In ''Corpse Party: Musume'', [[spoiler: Yuka dies and he kills himself to be with her.]]
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: In the end of [[spoiler: the OVA, not even half]].
* TheHero: Although in Blood Covered his chapter is in the middle of the game; every chapter before his has the characters fall deeper and deeper in trouble. When he first appears, he acts like a badass and his appearance is when the characters start to find a way to get out of there. Also the other characters treat him like the leader.
* HeroicBSOD: If [[spoiler:Yuka]] or [[spoiler:Naomi]] die.
* HeroicSacrifice: He willingly gave Naomi his scrap in the OVA, not knowing what would happen to him if he [[spoiler: used a scrap from another group.]]
* HeterosexualLifePartners: He and Yoshiki seem to be this.
* HyperAwareness: Displays quite a bit of this in ''Blood Drive'' when he sees Yoshiki geared up to go to Heavenly Host under the guise of going hiking. By gauging his reactions when he mentions Heavenly Host, Ayumi and the paper charm on his backpack, he figures out Yoshiki's true intentions. Yoshiki even refers to it as Satoshi's primal instincts.
** In ''Blood Covered'', when he finds a toilet for Yuka, he asks which one she's going for, so he can measure the amount of time she takes before he figures out something is wrong.
* IdiotBall: In the anime OVA, he leaves Yuka to do her business, and lets Sachiko, a ghost girl among ghost children who are known to slaughter everyone, go along with her. If this isn't bad enough, he goes inside and tells her to "scream if she needs anything". Guess three times if this happens.
* NiceGuy: One of the nicest characters in the whole game. [[SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan No wonder the ladies love him.]]
* NoHeroToHisValet: He is thought of as the leader of the group, the only one to challenge this is Naomi. Who he probably has known the longest, excluding his sister.
* ObliviousToLove: And, well, you can't really blame the guy: Naomi is such an extreme {{Tsundere}} that she practically comes off as emotionally abusive towards him, so it'd make sense that he wouldn't be able to see that she's in love with him. [[spoiler:He ''does'' have a LoveEpiphany with regards to Naomi in one ending. It's not in the True End, though.]]
* StandardizedLeader: He can come across as very bland in contrast to the rest of the cast since he is so stable and normal as a borderline everyman.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: He isn't a fan of Horror Stories, so ''of course'' he ended up with a ClassRep who ''adores'' telling them, exposing his phobias for all to see and mock. Then they end up being ''dragged into'' one...
* YouAreWorthHell: Towards Naomi, if she loses her piece of the charm, he says he would stay with her. [[spoiler:As well as in Book of Shadows, when he is put in a time loop. Instead of leaving when they refuse to listen to him, he decides to do the charm again, as he is the only one who can save everyone.]]

!!!Naomi Nakashima
-->Voiced by: Creator/RinaSato
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tropes_cp_naomi_2865.jpeg

Naomi's known Satoshi ever since they were kids, and loves exploiting the fact that she knows all his weaknesses. However, she does this to try and hide [[UnluckyChildhoodFriend her feelings for him]], in typical {{Tsundere}} fashion.
-----

* AlliterativeName: ''Na''omi ''Na''kashima.
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Satoshi is as much in love with her as she is with him, but he doesn't realize his feelings in most of the endings because he's afraid of being ridiculed by Naomi because of her extreme {{Tsundere}} attitude.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: She gets possessed by the darkness in Heavenly Host Elementary and ends up [[spoiler: killing Seiko while under its influence. This can trigger a DespairEventHorizon in one of the Wrong Ends.]]
* CassandraTruth: In ''Book of Shadows'', her mother doesn't believe anything she says about [[spoiler:Seiko, since her existence was erased upon her death in Tenjin.]]
* CannotSpitItOut: Not only her feelings for Satoshi, but also the guilt she feels immediately after lashing out at Seiko. If she tries to apologize, she's hardly even able to get the words out, and neither she nor Seiko feel any better. In ''Book of Shadows'', she actually has a coughing fit.
* DeadAllAlong: As revealed in the last chapter of [[spoiler:''Corpse Party: Musume''.]]
* DespairEventHorizon: In Chapter 5. Your choices determine what happens to her: [[spoiler: either a message from Seiko will eventually convince her that Seiko doesn't hate her and she rejoins the group, or she goes crazy and charges at the group while dragging Seiko's body behind her.]]
* DisappearedDad: Only her mom is made clear to be in her life.
* DeathByAdaptation: In ''Corpse Party: Musume''. She ends up [[spoiler: becoming [[BigBad Sachiko's]] replacement.]]
* DrivenToSuicide: Eventually, the horrors of the school push her past the breaking point and she tries to hang herself. [[spoiler: Talking her down is necessary for that chapter's True End.]]
* EyeScream: One of her eyes is cursed in ''Blood Drive'', giving her excrutiating pain but also [[spoiler: granting her the ability to [[ISeeDeadPeople see spirits]].]]
* FatalFlaw: Not only is she [[CannotSpitItOut unable to bring herself to confess her feelings]], she tends to take out her frustration verbally on everyone around her. Even when she knows it won't help anything, she can't stop herself...
* HartmanHips: And [[SchoolgirlLesbian Seiko]] will constantly remind Naomi of those.
* HeroicSacrifice: In the PC-98 version, she may do this in order to [[spoiler:save Yuka]]. Sadly, this locks you into an [[spoiler: ending that makes this a SenselessSacrifice]].
* HonorBeforeReason: [[spoiler:Why she tried to revive everyone in ''Book of Shadows''.]]
* HiddenDepths: In-universe example in the PC-98 version. Everyone present is surprised Naomi can play the piano and is apparently very good at it. That doesn't get any other mention in any subsequent games, however.
* InformedAttribute: The Corpse Party Blood Covered's character guide gives Naomi the characteristics of being Satoshi's Lancer, but she spends too much time crying over Seiko to fill out this role. The role of the Lancer goes to Ayumi who doubles as TheSmartGirl.
* MaybeEverAfter: The True Ending in PC-98, where she has some alone time with Satoshi in their classroom and she invites him to come over to her place and see her play the piano.
* MyGreatestFailure: She feels that if she hadn't taken out all her frustrations on Seiko, they wouldn't have separated and [[spoiler:Seiko wouldn't have died]]. She tries to rectify this after being given the chance to do so in ''Book of Shadows''. [[spoiler:She succeeds, but Seiko freaks out (as it turns out, Naomi was BrainwashedAndCrazy and tried to kill her) and runs away from her, headlong into a DeathTrap. [[YouCantFightFate At this point, Naomi is forced to accept that saving Seiko at all is impossible]]]].
* NeverGotToSayGoodbye: Naomi splits up with [[spoiler:Seiko]] shortly after the two get into an argument. [[spoiler:The next time she sees Seiko, she's hanging by the neck in a bathroom stall]]. Considering it was Naomi's fault they split up in the first place, she [[ItsAllMyFault feels pretty bad]] about it. [[spoiler:She later finds out that she was the one who did that to her, albeit whilst possessed.]]
* PatientChildhoodLoveInterest: Sorta. She's known Satoshi since seventh grade.
* ScrewDestiny: Her attitude in ''Book of Shadows'', both in the "World Loop" chapters and the chapter following ''Blood Covered''[='=]s True Ending. By the end of "Engraved Seal", [[spoiler:this becomes YouCantFightFate]].
* ThousandYardStare: In the beginning of Book Of Shadows, and [[spoiler:end of the Tortured Soul OVA]].
* {{Tsundere}}: A typical ''tsun-tsun''; this is {{Deconstructed}}, as it feeds into her FatalFlaw.
* TwistedAnkle: Suffers from one after a bad landing, making it hard for her to get around at first.
* UnluckyChildhoodFriend: Her FatalFlaw is a heavy driving force here towards Satoshi.

!!!Ayumi Shinozaki
->Voiced by: Creator/AsamiImai
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tropes_cp_ayumi_7800.jpeg

The ClassRep for 2-9, Ayumi is bright, cheerful, and absolutely ''loves'' scary stuff. Creepy stories, strange rituals... she loves them all, and can't resist taking advantage of her position to draw her classmates into her games. Especially Satoshi, since he's so ''funny'' when he's freaked out...!
-----

* AxeCrazy: In the Wrong Ends where she is possessed and you don't snap her out of it. She might shove [[spoiler:Yoshiki down the stairs so hard his skull cracks, stab Satoshi with a pair of scissors, beat Naomi to death with her bare hands...]]
** In the ''Corpse Party: Musume'' manga, towards the end, [[SanitySlippage she really loses it]]. She [[spoiler:first brings up the subject of murder and black magic to Yoshiki as they're walking home. When Yoshiki tells her that killing anyone for any reason is wrong, she snaps at him and starts calling him out. Once he brings her home to calm down, it only gets worse. He leaves her alone for one minute to come back to find her using a pen to injury herself, and then stabs herself in front of Yoshiki repeatedly with an insane look; tearing up her arm with a pair of scissors.]]
* BigNo: [[spoiler:At the end of Book of Shadows, her sister gets her head chopped off right in front of her. Ayumi lets out a scream leading up to the ending credits of the game.]]
* BigSisterInstinct: [[spoiler:To Yuki Kanno, and to a certain extent, the other children who were victims of the 1973 Tenjin Elementary kidnapping and murder case.]]
* BloodSplatteredInnocents: ''Book of Shadows'' ends with her drenched in [[spoiler: her sister's blood after [[YourHeadAsplode her head explodes]] whilst hugging her in the [[HopeSpot aftermath]] of a BigDamnHeroes moment.]]
* BreakTheCutie: [[spoiler:Her sister's death and the events of Heavenly Host do this to Ayumi.]]
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: She gets possessed fairly often, and if you make the wrong choices, you end up with Wrong Ends where she [[spoiler:kills one of the others.]]
* ChildHater: Inverted; she doesn't seem to trust adults too much, besides Yui.
* ClassRepresentative: As said she is one for her class
* CoolBigSis: Has two (Hinoe and Ms. Yui) and is one to Yuka and [[spoiler: Yuki Kanno]].
* CuteWitch: In Book Of Shadows, we learn she is [[spoiler:descended from a family that really had magic powers]]. Her older sister is a HotWitch instead.
* DamselInDistress: So much, but by [[spoiler:the prologue of Blood Drive, she gets better]].
* DarkAndTroubledPast: It looks she still hasn't gotten over it by [[spoiler:''Dead Patient'', to the point where she has been shown to be in an AngstComa]].
* DeathByAdaptation: In the novels, she [[spoiler: becomes the new Sachiko of Heavenly Host.]]
* DemonicPossession[=/=]GrandTheftMe: Her latent psychic powers attract spirits to her, but because she hasn't learned to control them yet, she is easily subject to possession. [[spoiler:In the prologue of ''Blood Drive'', she gets a lot better.]]
* DullEyesOfUnhappiness: Whenever she goes through DemonicPossession. [[spoiler:Has this at the end of Blood Drive and in Dead Patient.]]
* EvilLaugh[=/=]LaughingMad: If she's [[DemonicPossession possessed]] or [[BrainwashedAndCrazy taken over by the darkening]].
* FatalFlaw: From Book of Shadows onwards, she tends to [[HonorBeforeReason think first and foremost about whatever her mind is set on at the time, but doesn't quite plan ahead for the possible risks.]] In Book of Shadows, [[spoiler: her attempt at reviving Mayu without proper research on how the Book of Shadows works not only give Mayu a severe case of CameBackWrong, but also nearly gets her and Naomi killed, if not for Hinoe's interference...which causes ''her'' to be beheaded in front of Ayumi. ]] Following that, in Blood Drive she is set on going back to Heavenly Host with the same goals as before, as well as intending to retrieve the Book of Shadows from there. Only she, again, doesn't have any sort of plan at all, which Yoshiki points out. She ends up disregarding Yoshiki's concerns and going to Heavenly Host with someone whose attitude is like a huge ObviouslyEvil neon sign flashing over his head.
* FightingFromTheInside: Whenever she has to overcome DemonicPossession or being {{Brainwashed}} by the darkening.
* GirlishPigtails: In the manga, she's shown to have had this hairstyle since she was a little kid.
* HeroicSacrifice: Sacrifices herself to [[spoiler: the Book of Shadows]], which restores everyone's knowledge of her [[spoiler: deceased friends']] existence in exchange for [[spoiler: wiping out her own from her friends' memories.]]
* HonorBeforeReason: [[spoiler:Why she decides to go back to Tenjin Elementary in Blood Covered and why she tried to revive her friends in "Book of Shadows".]]
* TheLancer: Naomi's supposed to be TheLancer to Satoshi, but she's too broken for it to work, so Ayumi takes the role as well as doubling as TheSmartGirl.
* TheLoad: She gets possessed quite a bit. [[spoiler:Though in "Book Of Shadows", she does get better.]]
* LoveMakesYouCrazy[=/=]LoveMakesYouEvil: [[spoiler:In a bad ending, Ayumi burns Naomi's paper scrap, then beats her to death. While covered in blood, she laughs and praises herself. Though Naomi does have the last laugh.]]
** In the ''Musume'' manga, Ayumi [[spoiler: stabs Naomi's dead body again and again, then cuts it into pieces, pushes Yoshiki off a cliff, then attempts to kill Yuka. Though she was possessed by Sachiko the whole time. This even carries over in the PC 98 version.]]
* ManySpiritsInsideOfOne: :In ''Book of Shadows'', [[spoiler:she is literally fought over by other vengeful spirits because they see her as their only hope.]]
* MoralityChain: Yoshiki is hers; he keeps her mental state in check, and helps to keep her from having anymore [[FreakOut Freak Outs]]. [[spoiler:If he's away from her for too long, it never ends well]].
* NightmareFetishist: {{Subverted}}. As much as she loves horror stories, getting flung headfirst into one understandably freaks her right out.
* ObliviousToLove: At least in regards to Kishinuma's crush on her, she's [[InfiniteStratos Ichika-levels of dense]]. Most likely because of her crush on Satoshi.
* OneSteveLimit: Averted: She's not the only Shinozaki in the game. [[spoiler:They're distantly related through being descended from a lineage with strong psychic abilities]].
* {{Protectorate}}: For Yoshiki as her dying often nets you a bad end.
* RescueRomance: With Yoshiki, all the time.
* RetGone: At the end of [[spoiler: ''Blood Drive'']], she [[spoiler: sacrifices]] herself to the [[spoiler: Book of Shadows and is erased from her friends' memories, in return for restoring the memories of Seiko, Mayu, Morishige, and Yui to the world.]]
* SavedByCanon: She makes an appearance in the prologue of [[spoiler:[[VisualNovel/CorpseParty2DeadPatient Dead Patient]],]] which is set after [[spoiler: ''Blood Drive'']].
* SelfHarm: She does while having a FreakOut in ''Blood Drive''.
** Also does this in ''Corpse Party: Musume'' where she [[spoiler: uses a pen and scissors to tear up her body due to her surviving Heavenly Host while the others have either died or been put in danger.]]
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: She likes Satoshi, as she feels she can trust him. [[spoiler: Seems to slowly transition to Yoshiki as of ''Blood Drive''.]]
* SlasherSmile: [[spoiler:Shows these when possessed.]]
* TheSmartGirl: She has the most knowledge of the occult so she fills out this role in the game.
* ThousandYardStare: [[spoiler:Sports one in her cameo appearance in ''Dead Patient''.]]
* {{Tsundere}}: She seems to be one for Satoshi and Yoshiki. She is known to have a crush on Satoshi and generally she scares him, while when she's with Yoshiki, she is very rude to him. But it is [[spoiler:hinted she might like him at the end of Blood Covered and in Blood Drive]].
* TookALevelInBadass: In Book of Shadows. Especially in [[spoiler:the prologue to Blood Drive, where she manages to force away possessions by herself and even prepares and chants up a spell to revive the dead]]. In Blood Drive, she takes another level in badass once [[spoiler: The Book of Shadows accepts her as its master.]]
* UngratefulBitch: Comes across as such towards Yoshiki. He spends most of his time saving her life and stopping her from going insane while she insults him any time they disagree on something. [[spoiler:She becomes aware of his actions and eventually feels grateful for it in Blood Drive.]]
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Performing the Sachiko Ever After charm was her idea.
* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: Acts like one to [[spoiler:Satoshi,]] though if she is acting like this, [[spoiler:you are probably on your way to a Wrong End.]]
* WhatTheHellHero: [[spoiler: The spirits of her dead friends appear to her in ''Blood Drive'' and tell her that while they are grateful that she wants to revive them, her attempts to do so are only getting more people killed.]]
* {{Yandere}}: At the very least, she starts showing signs of [[spoiler:SanitySlippage in one bad ending. She actually ''burns Naomi's Sachiko charm'' (which she needs to get home), then ''kills'' her in a particularly horrific Wrong End. Naomi has the last laugh, though]].

!!!Yoshiki Kishinuma
->Voiced by: Creator/YuuichiNakamura
http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tropes_cp_yoshiki_2546.jpeg

Despite having the FaceOfAThug, Yoshiki is actually a pretty nice guy. Likes teasing Satoshi, but that's the norm among his classmates, anyway. After they're pulled into Tenjin, he vows to protect Ayumi at any cost.
-----

* ActionSurvivor: He's the most capable in Heavenly Host and survives with the most injuries.
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Though he cares for Ayumi, he thinks she's more interested in Satoshi. [[spoiler:She may return his feelings later on, though.]]
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Before he started his second year, he admits he was a loner.
* AlwaysSaveTheGirl: If he fails and Ayumi dies...it never ends well. He'll either get killed off later, or be DrivenToSuicide because he can't live without her.
* BadassNormal: The biggest badass out of the main five and one of the biggest in general but doesn't even have the "perks" others like Ayumi have.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Why he fell in love with Ayumi.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Shown more in Book of Shadows where he [[spoiler:loses Ayumi again, and on his way to find her, he stumbles across Mayu and Nana. For a little bit, he has to save and protect them until he finds Ayumi.]] ''Book of Shadows'' hints that he would probably be this way towards his own little sister, Miki.
* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler: Saves Yuka from Kizami in ''Tortured Souls'', but unfortunately she was already fatally injured.]]
* ChangedMyMindKid: Ayumi and Yoshiki are [[spoiler:returned to their classroom]] by Yuki. Ayumi wants to [[spoiler:return to save Satoshi and the others. If Yuka was was caught by Kizami (or if you choose to not to), Yoshiki refuses to go back. Naturally, he ends up going back anyway. It still leads to a Wrong End, though.]]
** [[spoiler: Same case in ''Tortured Souls''. He comes back in time to save Yuka, and is then killed trying to hold off Yoshikazu so that Ayumi can get Yuka to safety.]]
* TheBigGuy: He's the toughest out of all of the kids and he takes the most risks as well. He can also be considered Ayumi's personal Lancer as well.
* ChickMagnet: PlayedForLaughs in one of the drama [=CD=]s, where Yoshiki gets confessions from Naomi, Yui, and Yuka. Later on, even [[EvenTheGuysWantHim Satoshi, Yuuya, and Morishige]] confess their love to him. [[spoiler:This ends up being a hallucination Yoshiki is having while being buried alive.]]
* CooldownHug: [[spoiler:Gives one to Ayumi when she is possessed.]]
* CrazyJealousGuy: He's really good at hiding it, and doesn't act on it until [[spoiler:he finally snaps at Ayumi about her feelings to Satoshi later.]]
* DeathByAdaptation: [[spoiler:In ''Tortured Souls''.]]
* DeadpanSnarker: Has his moments.
* {{Delinquent}}: Most people think he's one, due to his dyed hair and his lack of interest in school. But he did used to skip a lot and smoke.
* DevotedToYou: He would do anything for Ayumi, and she doesn't even realize it.
* DrivenToSuicide: In the original PC-98 game, he becomes suicidal [[spoiler: if Ayumi dies. In one ending, he tries to attack Satoshi before breaking down in tears and dropping the knife; in another ending he simply disappears, and Satoshi wonders if the guilt of leaving Ayumi behind was too much for him.]]
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: It was in a [[spoiler:fake dream when Yoshiki was being buried alive, though...]]
* FaceOfAThug: He may look like your typical {{Delinquent}}, which he used to be to an extent, but he's a NiceGuy and will look out for his friends.
* HeartbrokenBadass: [[spoiler:Anytime if Ayumi dies.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: In the OVA, he blocks the door so [[spoiler: Yoshikazu]] can't get to Ayumi and a wounded [[spoiler: Yuka]]. [[spoiler: Yoshikazu just plows through.]]
* HeterosexualLifePartners: He and Satoshi seem to be this.
* IChooseToStay: [[spoiler: At the end of Blood Drive, he chose to stay with Ayumi when she absorbed the power of the Book of Shadows, and was erased from the others' memories along with her.]]
* InformedFlaw: In his character description it states that he is prone to outbursts when frightened or upset and is essentially a JerkWithAHeartOfGold character. In the actual game he rivals Satoshi for being the kindest and the most level-headed.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He's this in the intro, but for the rest of the game he slides into the NiceGuy.
* KnightInShiningArmor: He wants to be seen in Ayumi's eyes as this, regardless that he already is one.
** Even Azusa calls/thinks of him as this, she even points out that the kanji is in his name. Kinda.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: Ayumi is this for him. [[spoiler:He loses the will to live if she dies.]]
* LoveMartyr: This guy is willing to put himself through hell ''and'' back for Ayumi, he does reach his limit at one point when he's had enough of Ayumi's constant concern for Satoshi in BloodCovered.
* NervesOfSteel: [[spoiler: Intimidates spirits that are possessing Ayumi out of her body while they're trying to hurt him.]]
%%* NiceGuy
* ParentalAbandonment: He lives away from his parents and is reported to have a bad relationship with them.
* PowerTrio: With [[spoiler:Mayu and Nana]] in Book of Shadows for a little bit.
* RetGone: In [[spoiler: Blood Drive]], he decides to stay with [[spoiler: Ayumi during her HeroicSacrifice, and is wiped from his friends' memories along with her.]]
* SenselessSacrifice: In the PC-98 game, he can sacrifice himself to save [[spoiler: Ayumi's life. Ayumi escapes the school, but ends up dying the next day anyway.]]
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: Inverted, he gained his feelings for Ayumi when she got him out of trouble and encouraged him to graduate high school.
%%* TsurimeEyes
* UndyingLoyalty: To Ayumi, and only if she'd be able to see it.

!!!Yuka Mochida

Satoshi's sweet and polite little sister, who's currently in middle school. Came to pick up her brother and wound up getting sucked into the middle of things.
-----
* BigBrotherWorship: She adores Satoshi. [[spoiler:And not just as a sibling.]]
%%* [[spoiler:BrotherSisterIncest]]: [[spoiler:Her love for her brother goes beyond sibling affection, though she only admits it in Chapter 5's Extra Ending.]]
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: In the [[spoiler: anime OVA]], she's officially killed off by [[spoiler: Kizami.]]
** Also in her chapter in [[spoiler: ''Book of Shadows'']], which shows what happens to you if [[spoiler: Kizami catches you in the original game: no matter what choices you make, you end up getting killed by either Sachiko or Yoshikazu.]]
* DamselInDistress: A particularly strong trouble magnet in the original PC-98 game.
** In ''Blood Drive'', [[spoiler: she is kidnapped by Misuto.]]
* DeathByAdaptation: In the [[spoiler: ''Tortured Souls'' OVA and in ''Corpse Party: Musume''.]]
%%* DeliberatelyCuteChild
* DemonicPossession: Possessed by [[spoiler: Sachi in ''Blood Drive''.]]
%%* [[spoiler: FightingFromTheInside: During this.]]
%%* HairDecorations
* HeroicSacrifice: In Chapter 5's Extra Ending, where she [[spoiler:[[TakingTheBullet Takes The Scissors]] for Satoshi.]]
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: Has this dynamic with Kizami, who is a good 46 cm taller than her.
* TheLoad: Forces Satoshi (and by extension, the player) into an epic quest for a usable bathroom when they could have focused on trying to find his classmates and teacher. Also the most useless of the nine characters.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Though she's only a few years younger than the rest of the cast, the age difference seems particularly pronounced thanks to her uniform and immaturity. She also ''acts'' much younger than she is, thanks to being spoiled rotten by her parents.
* OutOfFocus: In the first half of ''Blood Drive'', due to Satoshi wanting to keep her out of the action. [[spoiler: The BigBad ends up luring her to Heavenly Host and kidnapping her for use in his plans.]]
* PottyEmergency: Happens to her. Unfortunately, the lack of working bathrooms doesn't do her any good. [[spoiler:Eventually leads to a PottyFailure, courtesy of Kizami.]]
* {{Protectorate}}: To her brother and to Yuuya Kizami. [[spoiler:Too bad Kizami's a murderous nutcase.]]
* SpoiledBrat: It's likely due to fear and stress, but she has this attitude quite a bit while trapped in the school.
* SpoiledSweet: She may be spoiled, but nobody can deny she cares a lot about her brother when she gives him (or tries to, depending on Satoshi's choice) her caramel beads as a good luck charm.

* CuteGhostGirl
* DeadAllAlong: At least she's honest about it. Most likely, she's retained her sense of self because of her psychic abilities.
* DespairEventHorizon: She crossed it ''twice''. The first one comes from Book of Shadows when she, after deciding to put the kibosh on the investigation realizing it's too dangerous to go on with it, comes home to tell Kibiki about it only to find out she was too late and that Kibiki had already gone on without her, and the second one when [[spoiler:she finds out she succumbed to the darknening and killed Kibiki]].

In her insanity trance, her idea of helping Kibiki was posting the wrong info about the charm on her blog to trap more students in Heavenly Host so the curse would become stronger, giving Kibiki a larger source material to study. That only made Heavenly Host stronger, making it impossible to escape unless Sachiko is appeased and sped up TheCorruption taking over her, which ended up killing Kibiki. [[spoiler:Between the time Sayaka returns home briefly to let her mother know she was going out and the time they pulled the ritual, Naho starts showing insanity traces that indicate Sachiko was influencing the Darkening within her when she posted the wrong info on her blog.]] The Darkening only got worse from there.

A writer of mystery novels researching what really happened in the 1973 kidnapping and murder case. He went to Heavenly Host to investigate it and how it connects to the 1973 kidnapping and murder case.

* AdaptationExpansion: The manga adaptation expands his role by actually have him appearing as a spirit to give valuable info to the main 5.
* AllLovingHero: He didn't want Naho to go with him to the investigation because he didn't want to risk her being trapped in Heavenly Host. He also worried about other people getting trapped in it. [[spoiler:Sadly, leaving her behind ended up in Naho causing both after she goes insane.]]
* {{Badass}}: He made some pretty idiotic decisions, such as leaving Naho behind and going to Heavenly Host on his own, when he doesn't have any spiritual powers like Naho has, before more info could be gathered about it, even if he had her well-being in mind. But still, to go over to Heavenly Host on his own volition takes balls of adamantium. He survived for quite a while as well. * WholesomeCrossdresser: He can be a convincing schoolgirl.
* YouGoGirl: According to an omake, he was cheered by the guys as such while they're unaware of his true sex.

!!!Sayaka Ooue
-->Voiced by: MAKO
A student at the same high school as Naho who does work in the talent industry. She's good friends with Naho due to them both being involved with the media.

* AdvertisedExtra: For some reason, the game icon for Book of Shadows has her standing in front of Heavenly Host, despite her limited appearance.
* BeautyMark: A small one in the left side of her mouth.
%%* [[spoiler:DoomedByCanon]]
%%* GenkiGirl
%%* HairDecorations
* NiceGuy: Well girl. She even agrees to enter Heavenly Host with Naho to rescue Kibiki and Taguchi.
* RomanticTwoGirlFriendship: With Naho.
* SchoolgirlLesbian: Corpse Party 2U pretty much cements her as this, with the amount of ShipTease and LesYay vibes she has with Naho, outright ''nosebleeding'' when she finds herself on top of Naho, fawning over Naho, engaging into SkinshipGrope towards Aiko and later Naomi. She's pretty much Paulownia High School's version of Seiko.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Naho, to the point of agreeing to go to Heavenly Host with her with no hesitation, and refusing the chance to escape Heavenly Host's loop because it would mean leaving Naho behind.

!!!Tsukasa Mikuni
-->Voiced by: Creator/NobuhikoOkamoto
A young man who attended Kisaragi Academy six years ago with Yui. They apparently dated, but never even kissed.

* CovertPervert: Has a thing for Student-Teacher Romance
* {{Determinator}}: Nothing seems to faze this guy. Not even ''Yoshie''.
* TheLadysFavor: Gender-inverted: He lends Yui the pencil he used for his high school entrance exams for good luck during her college entrance exams. He tells her that he's not letting her keep it. He needs it for ''his'' exams, too.
* UnderstandingBoyfriend: He is very much this to Yui, even though they weren't dating during his canon appearances.

!!!Kai Shimada
A student who attends Byakudan High School, and who has a one-sided rivalry with Kizami.

* {{Bishonen}}: Models for a men's magazine.
* BullyingADragon: He pulls a knife on Kizami to intimidate him. [[spoiler:It ends as well as you'd expect.]]

Then, to twist the knife in, he makes a shallow attempt to charm Touko into ditching her friends and come with him.
* FieryRedhead: Very impulse driven, hot headed, headstrong, and arrogant. And yes a redhead, be it natural or dyed.
* JerkAss: Touko regards him as "the slimeball to end all slimeballs". He earned that opinion with gusto.
* HandsomeLech: According to Touko, he has ''10 girlfriends''.
* HotGuysAreBastards: Very much so. [[spoiler:Not to the extent of Kizami, but still...]]
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: When they open the entrance door of Heavenly Host, he is ''very'' quick to run away from there.
* SmallNameBigEgo: 3 letters, VERY full of himself.

!!!Ryousuke Katayama
A student who attends Byakudan High School. He enjoys video games and is good friends with Ohkawa. We first meet him in Extra Chapter 4 of ''Blood Covered'', but it isn't until ''Book of Shadows'' that we see him in the main game.

A victim of the 1973 Tenjin Elementary kidnapping and murder case, she appears as a ghost with her left eye missing.

* AdvertisedExtra: In Blood Drive, she is seen in the intro and one of trailers, but has no real role in the game. See ChuckCunninghamSyndrome.

!!!The girl in red/Sachiko Shinozaki
-->Voiced by: Creator/IkueOtani
The supposed only survivor of the 1973 Tenjin Elementary kidnapping and murder case, she provided the testimony that got the killer arrested. After the incident, her family apparently moved away, and her whereabouts are currently unknown.

In actuality, she is a malevolent spirit, and the one behind the 1973 incident. After possessing the supposed killer and making him kidnap the other children, she killed them herself and laid the blame on him.

She herself was the victim of an incident in 1953, where she was killed after witnessing the headmaster of the school kill her mother, who then went on to hide her remains in the basement. Her hatred towards the headmaster and envy towards those still alive ended up twisting her personality into what it is in the game.

* AffablyEvil: In 2U. Her resentment and hatred are lifted for 24 hours when its her birthday. She goes from the game's greatest horror to a surprisingly friendly ghost who likes to torment her victims in non-fatal ways just for shits and giggles. But she gets back to her usual AxCrazy self when the 24 hours is over, and forgets everything she experienced in her birthday.
* TheAtoner: In ''Blood Drive''.
%%* AxCrazy
%%* BigBad
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Sometimes she likes to play the ally, or act like a helpless child, before turning around and killing people. In one bad end, she pretended to be Mitsuki by wearing her face as a mask, and briefly flirted with Morishige before revealing herself. Just to mix things up.
* CreepyChild: She died when she was very young, so her spirit has the appearance of a pale, blood-covered child.
* CuteAndPsycho: 2U puts emphasis on the "cute" aspect. She's surprisingly adorable on her birthday, if only being AffablyEvil at best.
* DeaderThanDead: See HeroicSacrifice.
* EnfantTerrible: She died as a child, but became a malevolent spirit.
%%* TheHeavy
* HeelFaceTurn: In ''Blood Drive'', since she has been appeased. She becomes a close ally to Ayumi.
* HereditaryCurse: The women in her bloodline are cursed with powerful black magic.
* HeroicSacrifice[=/=]RedemptionEqualsDeath: Uses up all her energy to turn back time so that Ayumi can have another chance to save her friends.
* LargeHam: Taken up to eleven in Book of Shadows.
* MoralityPet: Subverted. Both ''Blood Covered'' and ''Book of Shadows'' imply that on some level she genuinely ''likes'' Yuka, and she actually saves Yuka from Kizami in Blood Covered's True Ending path. But Sachiko's too AxCrazy for this to actually protect Yuka -- in the ''Mire'' chapter from ''Book of Shadows'', it's revealed that it was actually Sachiko who killed Yuka after Kizami catches her in that Bad End of the original game.
* SealedEvilInACan: In ''Blood Drive'' we find out that the dimension where Heavenly Host is something called a Nehan, where the dead can wander and interact with the living freely. Sachiko's mother created it using the Book of Shadows in order to be reunited with her deceased husband, but the spell failed and it rebounded on Sachiko, who wound up absorbing the entire Nehan into her body. When she was murdered, the seal was broken and the Nehan was unleashed, creating the alternate Heavenly Host.
* SlasherSmile: Her spirit often bears one when it isn't frowning or is just staring blankly.
* StringyHairedGhostGirl: A pretty typical Ongyo spirit aside from being a child in red instead of a woman in white.
* TongueTrauma: Has been on the giving and receiving end of this.
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: The spirits of children generally do not seek to murder the innocent.
* UndeadChild: Her appearance is rather zombie-like.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: Before being killed blinded her with bloodlust and anger, she was a genuinely sweet child. ''Blood Drive'' reveals that it was not being murdered alone that distorted her character, but a curse that had been laying dormant within her since her mother's clandestine attempt at bringing back her dead father.
%%* WalkingSpoiler
* WoundedGazelleGambit: Pulls this in ''Book Of Shadows'', in one of the Wrong Ends and in Chapter 6.
* {{Yandere}}: At least at first. Sachiko started off killing so that her mother would have company, but after a while she began to enjoy it too much. After a while, Sachiko was just too far gone to stop. Yoshie's diary notes that Sachiko probably didn't even remember her own mother.

!!!Yoshikazu Yanagihori
A teacher at Tenjin Elementary, and the son of the headmaster. He was arrested for the kidnapping and murder of the three victims in 1973 but was actually being manipulated by Sachiko.

* AlwaysABiggerFish: He's found crucified and impaled in Chapter 2 of Blood Drive, which pretty much establishes that there is a MUCH bigger threat this time around.
* CoolTeacher: Used to be one until his mental illness struck. An entry in Yoshie Shinozaki's diary suggests that she ''might'' have had something to do with the mental illness.
* DespairEventHorizon: Being controlled by Sachiko into kidnapping the three children and then witnessing her kill them in cold blood completely breaks him and leads to him being...
* TheDragon: An unwilling one to Sachiko, as she used his body to kill children.
* DrivenToSuicide: He killed himself by hanging himself.
* DropTheHammer: His zombie occasionally appears with a giant mallet. God help you if he catches you.
* FriendToAllChildren: What he was prior to kidnappings. In Chapter 6 of ''Book Of Shadows'', he shows a lot of reluctance to kill [[OlderThanTheyLook Yuka]] despite Sachiko's orders. Teenagers are fair game, though.
* InsanityDefense: How he avoided going to jail. He actually ''was'' pretty insane at that point, so a mental hospital was probably the best place for him. However, he ended up escaping, broke into the school, and hung himself in the basement.
%%* TheJuggernaut
* ManChild: At the time of the incident, a disease had apparently caused him to regress to a childlike mental state, to the point where he couldn't even convey his thoughts. People noted that he was still a rather kind person even when he reached that point, so it was almost hard to believe that he'd commit such horrific murders. Which makes sense, seeing as he ''didn't'' commit the murders.
* SinsOfOurFathers: Yoshikazu's mental illness and regression are heavily implied to be caused by being cursed by Yoshie, Sachiko's mother. When you find her diary in-game, Yoshie mentions her hatred for Principal Yanagihori is so great, she cursed him and everyone in his bloodline. This basically means he's the very first innocent victim of Yoshie's and Sachiko's rage: even before the murder of the three children, Yoshikazu was already a powerless puppet under Sachiko's thrall.
%%* TheUnintelligible

!!!Yoshie Shinozaki
Sachiko's mother, she was a doctor and a health official for Tenjin Elementary. She died after falling from a stairway landing in the school. She was the other victim of the incident in 1953. After she escaped being raped by the principal, he accidentally caused her death whilst chasing after her in an attempt to keep her quiet. Her death was subsequently covered up as an accident.

She appears in-game as the ghost in the infirmary.

* GreaterScopeVillain: The final chapter of Book of Shadows shows that she may have been the one who created the supernatural version of Heavenly Host in the first place, using a ritual from the Book of Shadows, a powerful grimoire passed down in the Shinozaki family. It is also hinted at that her magic may have been involved in Sachiko's death. And she was the one who created or at least discovered the ritual that would become the Sachiko Ever After charm eventually... Prior to their demise. The events of Blood Drive reveal that she accidentally set the pieces in place for the creation of the hell known as ''Heavenly Host'' in a misguided attempt to be reunited with her deceased husband.
* HelloNurse: She was the school nurse.
* HereditaryCurse: Powerful black magic runs through her bloodline, and its passed from mother to daughter. Every man who marries into the bloodline is doomed to die because of this. She loved her husband enough to resort to the forbidden black magical secrets they'd passed down, and tried to escape to a dimension where she could be with his spirit. The spell failed, it rebounded onto Sachiko, and it spawned the hellish version of Heavenly Host after they were brutally murdered.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: She tries to be reunited with the spirit of her dead husband out of genuine love. This act sets the pieces in place for the creation of Heavenly Host and results in countless deaths.
* SinsOfOurFathers: It's unknown what her ancestors did, but whatever it was left the women of her bloodline filled with immense black magical power.

!!!Hinoe Shinozaki
Ayumi's older sister. She's obviously the one Ayumi inherited her love of the occult from.

* BigDamnHeroes: Saves Ayumi and Naomi from dying when their paper dolls are burning in ''Book of Shadows''.
* HotWitch: Grown up and has magic powers.
* OffWithHisHead: She dies this way in ''Book of Shadows''. Right in front of Ayumi, no less.
* {{Oneesama}}: Very soft-spoken and ladylike, and very encouraging of Ayumi.

!!!Natsumi Nakashima
-->Voiced by: Creator/SeikoYoshida
Naomi's mother.

* AdultsAreUseless: Played with in ''Book of Shadows''. She doesn't believe anything Naomi says about Seiko and thinks that Naomi has simply created an imaginary friend. However, this is justified as Seiko was erased from existence following her death in Tenjin, and Natsumi does try to get help for her daughter by speaking with a psychiatrist, doing the best she can with the information she has.
* AlliterativeName: Both starting with "Na" just like her daughter.

!!!Haruna Kizami
Kizami's older sister.

* HimeCut
* CoolBigSis[=/=]{{Oneesama}}: Toyed with. Her [[AllThereInTheManual profile]] indicates she enjoys flower arrangement, but she is rather harsh toward her younger brother. Because said brother has a tendency to torture animals.

!!!Yukie Suzumoto
-->Voiced by: Creator/SeikoYoshida
Mayu's mother. She is sad about her daughter having to transfer and resents her workaholic husband for not protesting against his job transfer.

!!!Yuu Shinohara
One of Seiko's younger brothers.

* PromotionToParent: In Book of Shadows, we see he is this to his younger siblings. It is unclear if he was always this or if the retcon of Seiko made him this.

!!!Kokuhaku Akaboshi
A girl from Misato Municipal Brotherhood High that Satoshi and Yuka encounter in Chapter 3. Despite their attempts to communicate with her, she doesn't really respond. Her Name Tag is found in Chapter 5, indicating that she either died shortly after Satoshi and Yuka left or was already dead. Going back to the art room when controlling Kizami in Chapter 3 reveals that the Darkening took over her.

%%* EmotionlessGirl
* MadnessMantra: Repeats one to try to keep the Darkening away.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Her first appearance shows her constantly repeating a MadnessMantra, not even acknowledging Satoshi nor Yuka's presence. By the time you get back to where she was when playing as Kizami, she's already completely taken by the darknening, her body completely covered by the Darkening's shadow, moaning in pain. And unlike virtually all other students encountered or mentioned in the games, she doesn't get any role expanding.

!!!Haruyuki Inumaru

A second year student at Paulowina Academy. He's a childhood friend of Sayaka, and fell in love with her. She harshly rejects him however, which he doesn't seem to mind.

* TheChewToy: Boy, is he ''ever''.
* GoMadFromTheRevelation: When he learns [[spoiler: Sayaka is dead...by finding her ''decomposing corpse'']].It hits him so hard he's taken over by the SuperpoweredEvilSide mentioned below.
* HopelessSuitor: He takes all of Sayaka's harsh responses to his declarations of love as Sayaka being {{Tsundere}}, thinks they're destined to be together for being childhood friends, and doesn't seem to notice that she's actually a SchoolgirlLesbian infatuated with Naho.
* MeaningfulName: Inu in Inumaru can mean dog. First he is a DoggedNiceGuy and then after his darkening he is stuck acting like a mad dog.
* PluckyComicRelief: More evident in 2U, lessened in Blood Drive.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: Due to his high spiritual energy, Inumaru's transformation is quite different when he succumbs to the Darkening. Instead of red eyes, he gets golden eyes and red symbols on his face. He also loses his humanity and [[AnimalMotif starts acting like]] [[MeaningfulName a dog]] with rabies and [[ThePowerOfHate super strength]].
* TooKinkyToTorture: Sayaka can give this guy a MegatonPunch but Inumaru ''will'' take it as gestures of affection, regardless of what Sayaka says.

!!!Aiko Niwa

Another student from Paulowina Academy, with a knack for money and paranormal items, also possessing spiritual powers like Naho.

* HiddenBuxom: As part of a Quiz game Naho's group was taking part at so they could retrieve Kibiki from Sachiko's clutches, they need to find out who has the largest chest size out of all 3 girls present. Naho and Sayaka have a [[SkinshipGrope hands-on]] approach to find out Aiko's and she has, in fact, the largest chest out of all of them, which her outfit does a good job at concealing.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: Revealed in Blood Drive. At one point she unflinchingly mused about trapping Naho's spirit in a spiritual item to make it a rare "talking spiritual item". And one glance at a picture she took with Naho and Sayaka and her reaction shows that, deep down, she considered Naho a friend and misses her. [[spoiler: And after Sayaka's corpse is found and she's running away from Darkening!Inumaru, she cracks and voices that she could care less about money and spiritual items, and that all she wants is see Naho and Sayaka again.]]
* ItsAllAboutMe: [[OnlyInItForTheMoney She only cares for her personal gain]], and is even willing to do Sachiko's bidding if it means getting her hands on spiritual items.
* OffWithHerHead: Happens to her in Blood Drive, [[spoiler: but after Sachiko sends Ayumi back in time, Ayumi is able to prevent it.]]
* SmugSnake: Every time she finds herself in a position above other people, particularly Naho, she pushes their buttons for her personal amusement. When she's put in a lower or uncomfortable position, she cracks considerably, which shows in her reaction to being on the receiving end of the abovementioned SkinshipGrope.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Her reaction when looking at a picture of her with Naho and Sayaka implies that she saw Naho in this regard. Made all the more clear when she lets out that all she wants is see her dead friends again, spiritual items be damned.
