[[caption-width-right:350:''"What the hell, I have some time to kill. [[BringIt Come on, take your best shot!]]"'']]

-> ''"The world is far more complicated than you obviously realize, and there is no black or white, [[GrayAndGreyMorality only shades of grey]]."''
-->-- Zelos' vision of life, blurted out to Adelle in a WhatTheHellHero moment to her

A [[BountyHunter mercenary]] known to never fail his job, Zelos has a list of enemies and is extremely detached when it comes to people. He has no issues killing people if the money payout is good enough. Both of his arms are mechanical prosthetics that give him an edge on the battlefield, especially if an Elemental Core is contained within them. His weapon of choice are guns and, [[GunAndSword in some cases, swords]].
----
* AntiHero: Considering his view towards life, this is almost an ''understatement''. His moral code isn't that of a hero; he will only help people if he's ''challenged'' to do it or is being [[OnlyInItForTheMoney paid for it]], he has no qualms about doing the killing, and he doesn't trust anyone that doesn't give him a good reason to. He gets better from this.
* ArtificialLimbs: Both of his arms are mechanical.
* ArtificialHuman: [[spoiler:Has it worse than Aria and Duja, as he's not even a true Human Genome. He's [[SuperPrototype Prototype ZERO]], clone of an unnamed Alien Soul and Dena, a Human Genome.]]
* AssassinOutclassin:
** It's said that many people have sought his artificial arms. None have survived to tell about such attempts. [[spoiler:You should ask Brumeia or the lackey she sent for him about her attempt. Oh yeah, you can't, the lackey got killed by Zelos after he tried to [[DirtyCoward maneuver on Adelle]], and [[DoNotTauntCthulhu Zelos helped Nguyen end Brumeia's life after she pissed him one too many times]].]]
** [[spoiler:Adelle later tries her luck at him [[YouKilledMyFather to avenge her parents]]. Zelos [[CurbStompBattle easily hands her ass to her]]. It helped that she started breaking down ''before the fight began'' and after the fight [[HeroicBSOD she was basically a sobbing wreck]].]]
* AtLeastIAdmitIt: Zelos is a ruthless killer, and he has no fear of admitting it. [[spoiler:Then comes Adelle, whose parents he killed in one of these ruthless killing contracts... And he actually ''regrets'' having accepted that one contract.]]
* BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork: [[spoiler: His rationale for killing Sauber rather than letting Liza do it; he thinks doing such a stuff would [[JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope corrupt her]].]]
* BecauseImGoodAtIt: Due to conditioning himself to not value life, Zelos does his job as a BountyHunter like it's the only thing he always knew or will ever know.
* BewareTheHonestOnes: If Zelos says he'll kill you next time he catches you up to no good, ''you better believe him''.
* {{BFG}}: His primary and personal weapon is a revolver that is about as large as his arms.
* BloodKnight: Zelos will NOT run away from a challenge. He also has a real soft spot for other Blood Knights, especially Lydia.
* BountyHunter: He does this for a living, accepting contracts that range from just doing guard jobs to outright killing people. And got quite the profile from doing it.
* BringIt: His common behavior toward anything he's pointing his enormous gun at.
* BrutalHonesty: Zelos has nothing to hide on his view of life and people. Many a time this works as a huge BerserkButton for Adelle.
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: Zelos killed so many people on his contracts [[spoiler:that he didn't even realize he killed Adelle's parents and lampshades it when she finally plays her true cards. Subverted in that his contracts aren't exactly any Tuesday; he ''remembers some of the people he killed''.]]
-->'''Zelos:''' Who knows? I've killed so many people that not one person stands out.
* BystanderSyndrome: Zelos will rarely, if ever, move a finger to help people, unless he's the target, or [[PunchClockHero someone taunts him into doing it]].
* CharacterDevelopment: Zelos goes from an unrepentant BountyHunter at the start of the game to a completely dependable person by the end, especially shown in the optional scenes [[spoiler:before the Randeroll Labs raid]]. He also comes to realize how his actions have impact upon other people.
* CodeOfHonor: Summed up in four phrases: "[[HumansAreBastards Humans are selfish by nature]]. Trust no one. Earn your living. [[IDidWhatIHadToDo Kill only if you need to]]." Zelos evolves out of this as the story goes on.
* ColdSniper: Zelos normally is contracted to kill anything that breathes with absurd efficency and zero considerations for whatever life he's ending. [[spoiler:He killed Adelle's parents that way in an open marketplace.]]
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: His color scheme changes with the various Elemental Cores equipped.
* CriticalStatusBuff: Varies with the Elemental Core he's using, but his trademark ability for this is [[TurnsRed Unleash Hell]] from the [[PowerOfTheVoid Infini Core]], which doubles his attack power and defense and can stack with his [[LimitBreak Overdrive]].
* CurbStompBattle: Zelos tends to hand these to people on a daily basis. [[spoiler:When Adelle finally comes for his head, Zelos [[NoSell lets her slash all she wants with no ill effects on him]].]]
* CynicismCatalyst: His last caretaker wasn't exactly a stable person and humiliated Zelos on many levels. It came to a point where Zelos ended up turning against him and starting his "trust no living being" attitude.
* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: What Isaac believes to be Zelos' motivation: to find a reason to exist. Predictably, Zelos mocks the idea. [[spoiler:This staving off of such questions pretty much bites back at him later. After beating Adelle down, he states he lives only because that's what he's supposed to. But when leaving the scene, he stumbles upon Isaac again and asks him if he has some grudge against him, knowing he's an Angel and fully aware of his own actions. Isaac, however, harbors no ill will on Zelos.]]
--> '''Zelos:''' [[UsefulNotes/{{Objectivism}} I think, therefore I am]]... [[Creator/WilliamShakespeare To be or not to be, is that really the question...]]? Oh dear God, this is just stupid.
* DoNotTauntCthulhu: Protagonist example: Zelos ''is a Cthulhu'' for all purposes and intents [[spoiler:as he's a SuperPrototype to Zelovide]], is incredibly powerful with the skills to back that power up, and will not take well to whoever pisses him off. [[spoiler:[[TheBaroness Brumeia]] learned that when Zelos [[BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor decided to help Nguyen kill her]] after seeing [[KlingonPromotion for real how rotten she is]].]]
* DontYouDarePityMe: Zelos gives a disgusted reaction to Bridgette after realizing she feels sorry for asking about his [[ArtificialLimbs prosthetic arms]] and warns her against feeling pity for people.
* EasilyForgiven: Subverted. [[spoiler:After curb-stomping Adelle around on her revenge attempt and letting Lydia win against him when the latter came to defend Adelle, Zelos apologizes for Adelle's parents, an incredibly rare case coming from him. Adelle doesn't outright forgive him, but she mellows out a bit to him after that and actually develops into TheRival for him.]]
* EasyAmnesia: According to his profile, he's missing quite a bit of his memory. He doesn't care. [[spoiler:Until near the end of the game, when he actually manages to find out [[ArtificialHuman where he came from]]. ''Then'' he starts caring.]]
* ElementalPowers: Zelos' skills and abilities depend on which Elemental Core he has on his arms. And there's one for each element in the game, to a total of eight:
** PlayingWithFire: Ignis Core
** ShockAndAwe: Astral Core
** DishingOutDirt: Peirous Core
** MakingASplash / AnIcePerson: Aqueous Core
** BlowYouAway: Anemos Core
** LightEmUp: Helios Core
** CastingAShadow: Vesper Core
** PureEnergy / PowerOfTheVoid: Infini Core
* EveryoneHasStandards: Zelos may be amoral, but he has his limits. His only kills will either be those bound by his contracts, or a person who's rotten beyond any possible sympathy. He won't take well for people who kill just for the hell of it, like Thaddeus. [[spoiler:He decides to help Nguyen kill [[TheBaroness Brumeia]] for no reward after seeing the both the latter's father and confidant die (And after she had the gall to hire a thief to try and get his Elemental Cores, also)]]. [[spoiler:And he REALLY didn't know the couple he killed for a contract in one occasion were parents to a little girl, who would become the furious Adelle and join him [[YouKilledMyFather in order to exact her revenge]].]]
* FriendToAllChildren: Very downplayed, but present. Notable are his interactions with Noel and Bridgette. Yes, he can be an asshole, but he does tend to go easier on them then you'd think an amoral, unrepentant killer would. He even tries to cheer them up in his own, emotionally broken way in a few instances.
* GunFu: Whatever you saw in ''VideoGame/CrossEdge'', it started here in ''Blazing Souls''.
* TheGunslinger: He loves waving his massive hand cannon around.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: Nguyen works his way from the start into being this with him. Also crossing onto VitriolicBestBuds.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: While Zelos consistently refuses to admit it, he is not a really bad person. [[spoiler:One such proof of this is that he actually apologizes to Adelle after being confronted by Lydia for killing the former's parents.]]
* HumansAreBastards: Zelos has no trust in people due to his turbulent past. What stops him from crossing the line like Jadore did ages ago is that he [[LeaveMeAlone doesn't want anything to do with anyone else]], instead of deciding to tyrannize on them. He develops out of this over time, however.
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: Zelos sees his everyday life and assassinations like this, and the entire world as being in a dog-eat-dog situation. He explains as much when opening himself to Lydia.
--> '''Zelos:''' Death and killing was all I knew at the time. I didn't know there were other ways. I did everything I thought I had to in order to survive. Everything... Ironic, isn't it? This, coming from someone who claims to not value life.
* IGaveMyWord: Zelos sticks with his words, ''no matter what happens''. [[spoiler:Gavas found that out in the worst possible way.]]
* IgnoreTheFanservice: Zelos pulls this on Fairuza.
* ILetYouWin: He pulls one on Lydia, [[spoiler:when he feels guilty after curb-stomping Adelle]]. Lydia realizes this right off the bat [[WhatTheHellHero and calls him out for that]].
* IncriminatingIndifference: Zelos' LackOfEmpathy is visible and many people take him for a big {{Jerkass}}, but it's shown many times that he kills only when he needs to, or when his opponent is ''[[EveryoneHasStandards a real bad case]]''. [[spoiler:Adelle however interprets that Zelos killed her parents [[ItAmusedMe just because he could]].]]
* InfinityPlusOneSword: Back in ''Spectral Souls II'', the [[{{BFG}} Revolver Cannon]] was only the second most powerful gun, and very far from being the game's most powerful weapon [[note]]It was the [[{{BFS}} Musoufugaku]] back then[[/note]]. Which it is in ''Blazing Souls'', as well as being Zelos' personal weapon. [[labelnote:Just so you know]]The Musoufugaku in ''[=SSII=]'' could reach over 2100 ATK when fully upgraded, over 400 points above the Revolver Cannon. Blazing Souls' Revolver Cannon hits a ridiculous 2842 ATK when fully upgraded.[[/labelnote]]
* InTheEndYouAreOnYourOwn: [[spoiler:After his team give Gustavinus a sound thrashing, the last fight is Zelos against Gustavinus, one-on-one so that Zelos can overload the guy with [[PhlebotinumOverload the energy of his Elemental Cores]].]]
* IShallTauntYou: He'll push Sexton's BerserkButton [[ItAmusedMe just for the hell of it]].
* ItAmusedMe:
** Subverted. Zelos has no pleasure on taking lives, but will do it without hesitation. His jerkass attitude, however, transmits to people the impression that he enjoys doing the killing. [[spoiler:This is especially true of [[YouKilledMyFather Adelle]].]]
** Played straight when it comes to [[IShallTauntYou taunting people]], especially if the victim is [[IAmNotPretty Sexton]].
---> '''Sexton:''' Excuse me...? Were you making a comment about [[BerserkButton my appearance]]?
---> '''Zelos:''' I don't see anyone else here that looks like they're on fire, devil.
* IWorkAlone: Zelos is heavily insistent in being on his own and dislikes almost every addition his party gets.
* JackOfAllStats:
** Easier growth on his Luck aside, Zelos has an even growth in all stats, can use four out of the five types of physical attack, and can play pretty much any role he needs to, as his stats only vary with the Elemental Core he's equipping at the time.
** Also, it's something to note that Coreless Zelos can use General-type physical attacks with a gun, something other gunslingers (Well, Liza as she is the only other gunner in the game) can't do.
* JerkAss: His profile states it best, the man is totally amoral and will do anything for money. It says a lot when Zelos himself says that he thinks as such of himself and is sure that his team thinks the same.
** JerkWithAHeartOfGold: According to the other characters. Lydia proves them right.
* JerkassHasAPoint: In one occasion, Adelle forces Zelos to let a thief go after dealing with him, and he calls her out on letting a criminal live. [[spoiler:Some time later, the same thief scams Adelle into an ambush and Zelos has to save her ass. He kills the guy on the spot this time and Adelle is [[NotSoStoic horrified]] at finally seeing how he '''[[SociopathicHero really]]''' works.]]
--> '''Zelos''': Now do you understand? This is how the world really works.
* JobSystem: Technically, his Elemental Cores work like this, giving him a different function for each Core:
** MagicKnight: Ignis Core
** CriticalHitClass: Astral Core
** FragileSpeedster: Anemos Core
** MageMarksman: Aqueous Core
** StoneWall: Peirous Core
** GlassCannon: Vesper Core
** LightningBruiser: Helios Core
** MasterOfAll: Infini Core
* LackOfEmpathy: His standard emotion set. Better demonstrated during Noel's HeroicBSOD.
--> '''Zelos:''' Yeah, they're dead. Get over it! It's not the end of the world! [[NoSympathy As you are now, you're less than useless to us! If this is how you're going to react to something like this, just get the hell away from me now!!]]
* TheLeader: Zelos is thrown into this role against his will, but develops into actually working as such.
* LeaveMeAlone: Zelos' constant message at everyone, as he has no trust or empathy for people. As the story progresses, he gets better from this.
* MagneticHero: With few exceptions, like with Zelena, much of the cast are drawn not just to his strength, but his honest, blunt character. Aria is a very good example of this, and Isaac even comments on it. Hell, even Adelle changes her opinion of him in a not so small way. Oddly, this magnetism also makes him surprisingly attractive to some of the female cast. This includes Aria, Bridgette, Sciorra, and Fairuza most blatantly, to Snow who sees him in much the same way as Jadore(Jadou)... but in a little brother kinda way, based on how she interacts eith him. The most complex example is Adelle, [[spoiler:whose motivation to join him is because [[YouKilledMyFather he killed her parents in one of his contracts]], and whose CharacterArc involves her developing out of her lust for revenge and learning to see Zelos for the person he is]]. [[spoiler:In the true ending of the game, Bridgette, Aria, and Adelle were the most visibly affected and worried for his safety and relieved at his survival.]]
* MegatonPunch: Zelos does this on his [[LimitBreak Heaven's Drive]], by charging the Elemental Core on his fist after shooting the enemy a few times.
* MoralMyopia: Zelos doesn't see anything wrong with killing thugs, or whatever appears on his contracts. [[spoiler:He discovers the consequences of the latter when one of his victims' daughter comes at him... And it's someone who has been on his side for quite some time.]]
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:Zelos is hit with this after Adelle's revenge attempt. He ''actually remembered the contract where he killed her parents'' and didn't know of their daughter. It's because of this that he [[ILetYouWin lets Lydia attack him without reacting]] when she comes to stand up for Adelle.]]
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: One of the biggest {{Combination Attack}}s in the game, Harem Night. [[spoiler:It involves Bridgette, Kaye, Fairuza and Sciorra cornering Zelos into a ''[[NoSocialSkills real funny]]'' moment, and then giving him an enormous amount of energy which he starts unloading at his target (Unloading as in delivering ''[[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill sixty hits of frustration and anger]]'' at the enemy'').]]
* NoSell: You want to see how ''immortal'' this guy is? [[spoiler:He lets Adelle stab him through the chest with her {{BFS}} to prove her how unflinching he is when she fails at killing him to avenge her parents. He doesn't even feel it, and even refuses medical help from Isaac later.]]
* NoSocialSkills: Subverted, as Zelos ''has'' social skills, [[LackOfEmpathy but is way too apathetic to care about anyone]] and so he doesn't feel the need to exercise it.
* NoSympathy: A teammate's family died? No shits given about it. [[spoiler:Killed his teammate's parents years ago and she just broke down while trying to kill him? Acts like a complete bastard... [[SubvertedTrope And has a conscience crisis as he walks away]].]]
* NotSoDifferentRemark: Snow compares him to Jadore: A JerkWithAHeartOfGold (Not different from what ''many'' of his party think of him) who's struggling to relate to people. Zelos [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial replies that he has nothing to do with that "spineless milquetoast"]]. As Snow herself puts it:
--> '''Snow:''' Actually, it's you that I'm interested in. The reason that I have been following you is because you are very much like someone I've been searching for. [[{{Jerkass}} Tactless, unfriendly, perpetually angry and totally unapproachable]]. But under his abrasive exterior, [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold he's really a very sweet person who just doesn't know how to relate to people]]. Like I said, you are almost exactly like the one I'm looking for.
* OneManArmy: If he's not a PersonOfMassDestruction.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Zelos will normally only do something good on free accord if he gets paid for doing it. [[spoiler:Nguyen used this to get Zelos to help him with Brumeia. Then Zelos [[ManipulativeBastard saw]] [[TheBaroness Brumeia's]] [[RulingFamilyMassacre colors]], [[EveryoneHasStandards and ended up offering his help for free]].]]
* PayEvilUntoEvil: Are you a thug? [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil A rapist]]? A ManipulativeBastard [[spoiler:who performed a RulingFamilyMassacre]] bent on killing whoever you want? Be sure that Zelos will come for your head and won't even bat an eye as he blows a hole on it.
* PowerMakesYourHairGrow: Happens to him when equipping the Helios or Vesper Core, whose sheer energy contained inside makes his hair grow to shoulder length, along with activating his ArtificialLimbs.
* ThePowerOfApathy: Zelos considers his apathy a form of art, and his interactions with everyone shows. His abilities to overcome whatever gets thrown his way do show it as well.
* ProfessionalKiller: Most of his bounty-hunting involves ending someone's life. He took this into some kind of art along with his apathy.
* PunchClockHero: The only reasons he ever has for doing good is that it was a job, or he was taunted into it. Sometimes both.
* RedIsViolent: If the tropes listed on his fame as an effective killer and his attitude as a BloodKnight aren't a signal.
* TheRival:
** [[spoiler:Zelos gains a true one in Jadore after personally challenging him to a quick battle.]]
** [[spoiler:If the cards are played right, Adelle develops out of her thirst for revenge on Zelos and becomes his rival herself.]]
* RudeHeroNiceSidekick: The Rude Hero to Nguyen's Nice Sidekick.
* ScrewDestiny: When Carla explains to the party the very reason for the existence of [[ArtificialHuman Human Genomes]], Duja decries the idea of there being a fate, and Zelos replies with this. [[spoiler:This leads into him deciding to raid the Randeroll Labs ruins in pursuit of Edward.]]
--> '''Zelos:''' Bullshit, all of it! [[ScrewDestiny I could give a rat's ass about gods, Human Genomes, or fate]]! I'm going to ''make them pay for screwing around with my world''!
* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: Our introduction to Sexton has Zelos giving a strong reaction and then pedaling back when Sexton mistakes him and Fairuza for a couple.
--> '''Zelos:''' [[FreudianSlip Oh dear God in heaven, NO!]] [[VerbalBackspace I have nothing to do with her]].
* ShipTease: [[spoiler:He does that ''with a '''[[CatGirl beastkin]]''''': he flat out admits to Sciorra he finds her hot in one of the conversations before the Randeroll raid.]]
--> [[spoiler:'''Zelos:''' They [her fur] look like a part of your outfit anyway. Actually, I think you're kind of hot.]]
* SignatureMove: Heaven's Drive, a MegatonPunch which Zelos uses in basically 99% of his {{Combination Attack}}s.
* TheSociopath / SociopathicHero: He has no conscience and feels no guilt when killing people. [[spoiler:This bites him back in the ass when Adelle reveals [[YouKilledMyFather that he killed her parents and she joined him so she could kill him.]]]]
* SuperMode: On Infini Core, we have his Overdrive [[LimitBreak Original Skill]]. It overclocks Zelos' Elemental Core, giving him an absurd increase in damage and defense for three turns. Combine it with his [[TurnsRed Unleash Hell]] Potential, use a Bloody Pearl, a fully upgraded Revolver Cannon, [[GameBreaker and Zelos basically becomes a near-unstoppable killing machine]].
* SuperPrototype: [[spoiler:He's this to the Human Genomes, and ultimately, to [[EldritchAbomination Zelovide]], as explained by Dena near the end of the game. One of the main purposes of Zelos' existence, according to Dena, is for him to be absorbed by Zelovide so it can become "complete".]]
* SwordAndGun: Without equipping any Elemental Core, the sword sees little use however, primarily being used to break things when exploring.
* ToxicFriendInfluence: Manages to be one [[spoiler:to Hermes as she starts mimicking his mannerisms]].
* TronLines: Get Zelos equipped with the Infini Core, and he'll have these all over his body.
* {{Tsundere}}: Gives the impression of being one at times, due to his excessive reactions to minor prodding to help others.
* {{Ubermensch}}: Given how he sticks to his [[CodeOfHonor moral code]] so strictly and refuses to let people change his opinions, this is arguably his case at first.
* TheUnapologetic: Again, Zelos is completely apathetic to everything around him and feels no remorse for his actions. [[spoiler:However, he concedes one apology after dealing with Adelle and Lydia on the former's attempt of revenge on him. [[EveryoneHasStandards He really didn't know those two merchants had a child when he was contracted to kill them]].]]
--> [[spoiler:'''Zelos:''' It might be too late for it to mean anything, but could you tell her... That... That I'm sorry.]]
* WeirdnessMagnet / MagneticHero: Everyone, ''absolutely everyone'', seems attracted to Zelos in some way or another. From other [[BountyHunter bounty hunters]] who may or may not agree with him, to adventurous kids, to people from another world with absurd powers, angels, demons, and [[spoiler:[[ArtificialHuman Artificial Humans]] who are trying to replace mankind]].
* WhatTheHellHero:
** Gives a heavy one to Adelle when she forces him to let a criminal go after they tried to "force a toll" on them. His words to her are almost prophetic, given what happens some time later:
--->'''Zelos:''' Someday, this is going to come back [[{{Foreshadowing}} and bite you in the ass]].
** Gets on the receiving end once, [[spoiler:when he [[ILetYouWin lets Lydia beat him all she wants]] for the humiliation he gave to Adelle]].
* WhatYouAreInTheDark: On the outside, Zelos is an [[{{Jerkass}} extremely unlikable]] person who [[LackOfEmpathy does his worst]] to gain distance from everyone and has no qualms about killing people. On the inside, Zelos ''still has a conscience'' and feels ''guilty'' for a good chunk of his kills, and is desperate to find the meaning of his own life, if there's anything else other than just killing. Isaac catches up easily to this.
* WorthyOpponent: Zelos sees one in Jadore.

[[folder:Nguyen Le]]
!!Nguyen Le / [[spoiler:Prince Heidelberg]]
->[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nguyen_le.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:''"Well, shall we get started?"'']]

-> ''"I have no idea what [[ArtificialHuman Human Genomes]] are or whether they are superior, and to be perfectly blunt, I don't give a damn. But life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is the right of all living beings, be they humans or Genomes. And should anyone try to deprive humanity their right to happiness, I will stand up and fight them until my dying breath!"''
-->-- Showing his HeroicResolve to [[ManipulativeBastard Brumeia]]

A blonde adventurer that was assigned by the guild to work with Zelos on a hard mission. Like the other two given this task, Nguyen decided to stay with Zelos after the mission was over. His dream is to rescue a cute DamselInDistress and get into a relationship. His weapon of choice is the knife.
----
* AndThenWhat: When he confronts Snow upon her origins, Snow asks this of him as an ArmorPiercingQuestion [[spoiler:to what he'll do once he kills Brumeia. Nguyen has no clear answer for this at that moment]].
** [[spoiler:He eventually gets the answer, right after Brumeia is killed: he wants to help Zelos end his case on the Genomes before assuming his position as king of the Vergis country.]]
* BackStab: His Ambush [[LimitBreak Original Skill]] tricks the enemies into turning their backs on him, which he follows up with a flying jump dagger first into their backs.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Nguyen is heavily cheerful and jolly, but make no mistake, this guy can and ''will'' go for your head if you decide to bring him misery. [[spoiler:Brumeia fucked up his life on massive levels while taking Vergis Kingdom over, and made a lifetime enemy out of the man. Got killed by him and Zelos for her efforts.]]
* CasanovaWannabe: Even his dream is to rescue a cute DamselInDistress. Yes, he never succceed in having a girlfriend. One nice demonstration of this is on the scene where he gets turned down by Fairuza and Carla, all in a timeframe of ''five minutes''.
--> '''Nguyen''': *Sighs* Yet more epic failures...
* {{Determinator}}: [[spoiler:He plotted for years so he could take Brumeia out, and saw the perfect opportunity on [[ProfessionalKiller such a high-profile killer]] that Zelos is. [[DidntSeeThatComing He didn't count on]] becoming actual friends with Zelos, [[EveryoneHasStandards or with Zelos actually getting fed up with Brumeia]].]]
* DishingOutDirt: His main elemental slot and the schtick to his [[GroundPound Quake]] [[LimitBreak Strike]].
* GroundPound: His Quake Strike has him doing this to cause area damage around him.
* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler:When Nguyen reaches Brumeia, she has [[TheConfidant Orson]] forced to attack him, and Nguyen hits this as he holds his dying confidant in his arms. This helps Nguyen regain his resolve [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge and go for Brumeia's head]].]]
* HeterosexualLifePartners: Manages to work himself into being one with Zelos. Crosses also into VitriolicBestBuds.
* KingIncognito: [[spoiler:His actual name is Heidelberg. He's the heir to Vergis Kingdom, on the run from one of the Genomes when she manipulated his father, King Archibald, into killing his entire family. Since then, he's been working to find a way to dethrone Brumeia and reclaim his throne.]]
* TheLancer: His general attitude in Zelos' team, even frequently asking permission for Zelos to go out of his way. He also fills the [[TheSmartGuy smart role]].
* LaResistance: [[spoiler:Nguyen leads one to free his own country from Brumeia, and hires Zelos to help him finish the job.]]
* LoveableRogue: Nyugen Le is cheerful, ever optimistic, and exceptionally good at stealing.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: On the exterior, Nguyen looks like a jolly rogue with a womanizing habit. On the interior, he actually gathers the intelligence he says he's gathering, [[spoiler:and he is no slouch in regards of knowing what's happening with his kingdom]]. It says a lot when he's the only guy who actually figured out [[Really700YearsOld who Snow really is]] [[spoiler:before Jadore decides to try and storm the Spectral Tower, forcing Snow to come save his ass]].
* ThePollyanna: Nguyen's behavior is highly optimistic, [[spoiler:when he's not dealing with his kingdom]].
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: [[spoiler:He's keeping his KingIncognito attitude to hide from Brumeia after having his kingdom taken over by her, and he's just waiting the right opportunity to smash every one of her plans. Zelos initially wanted no part on it and only joined Nguyen in his quest later because [[OnlyInItForTheMoney he was gonna get paid]], but after Brumeia [[DoNotTauntCthulhu sent a thief to do her dirty job on him]], and seeing [[ManipulativeBastard how much of a bitch]] [[TheBaroness Brumeia]] is, [[EveryoneHasStandards he]] ''[[EveryoneHasStandards volunteers]]'' [[EveryoneHasStandards to help Nguyen end her life]]. And they succeed.]]
--> [[spoiler:'''Nguyen:''' This isn't about my country or my rule. The fact is that your existence offends me. I will not stand by and let you ruin people's lives just for your own sick, perverted gratification!]]
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: [[spoiler:He's been actively working to purge Vergis Kingdom from Brumeia's rule. After that, he decides to keep helping Zelos purge the world from the bad Genomes before he goes back to his rightful throne.]]
* RudeHeroNiceSidekick: The Nice Sidekick to Zelos' Rude Hero.
* RulingFamilyMassacre: [[spoiler:Heidelberg is a survivor of one. The first thing Brumeia did after bethroting and enthralling his father was convince him to slay every single member of his family. Orson, Vergis Kingdom's retainer, was savvy to this and smart enough to help Nguyen escape with his life, while staying behind and looking after the now [[BrainwashedAndCrazy mentally-enslaved King Archbald]]. Since then, Nguyen waited for just the right opportunity to get back at Brumeia and take his kingdom back.]]
* ShockAndAwe: His second elemental slot.
* WarriorPrince: [[spoiler:Heir to Vergis Kingdom, and highly capable in combat.]]
* YouKilledMyFather: [[spoiler:His entire family [[RulingFamilyMassacre was killed under Brumeia's order by his own father]]. For his father and retainer, however, it happens midgame, and after that Nguyen is [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge fully gung-ho on killing Brumeia]]. Zelos, [[DoNotTauntCthulhu having seen quite enough of her]], [[EveryoneHasStandards joins Nguyen and puts his undivided attention on her]].]]

-> ''"What do you know? Losing everyone you love and ending up all alone... How could you possibly understand anything like that?"''
-->-- After witnessing Zelos' [[HumansAreBastards true vision of the world]]

Full first name Adellade, she's a purple-haired mercenary that was assigned to help Zelos rescue Aria, and decided not to part ways afterwards. Her weapon of choice are {{BFS}}'es.
----
* ActionGirl: She's definitely this, always jumping into action at the first chance.
* BerserkButton: For most of the game, Zelos is a walking Berserk Button for her. Then again, [[spoiler:he's the one who killed her parents.]]
* BerserkerTears: [[spoiler:Her revenge attempt on Zelos turns into one of these ''before the fight even starts''. Zelos, [[{{Jerkass}} being Zelos]], isn't even half moved by that at first, while Adelle reduces herself [[InelegantBlubbering to a sobbing wreck]] after she doesn't manage to connect a single hit on him.]]
* {{BFS}}: Her flavor of weapon.
** Her personal weapon is a subversion; [[VideoGame/SpectralSouls Garnet]]'s Princess Sword isn't a big blade, rather being a quite normal-sized sword.
* BrokenAce: She's become top notch in the Varanoir academy, but her distance from most people is actually a signal that she never actually got over her parents' death. [[spoiler:This is confirmed when she goes to exact her revenge on Zelos.]]
* ChildhoodFriends: With Lydia.
* ChildProdigy: Her dedication [[spoiler:in preparing to kill Zelos]] has led her to become Valedictorian of her class in Varanoir.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: She shows traits of this on the first half of the game, always offering help for whoever's in trouble. Zelos, however, [[{{Hypocrite}} doesn't buy that]]. [[spoiler:Turns out he's half right about this, as she's in his team for his head.]]
* CurbStompBattle: [[spoiler:She gets on the receiving side of this when [[{{Revenge}} she finally attempts to kill Zelos]]. Worse than that, Zelos at the end goes on to prove that she never actually stood any chance of killing him, because ''not even him knows how to do so'': he [[ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice lets her stab him]] with her {{BFS}} just to show her [[NoSell how IMMORTAL he is]].]]
* DeceasedParentsAreTheBest: To the point that she ''ignores'' [[ParentalSubstitute Garnet]] and wants [[spoiler:Zelos']] head [[{{Revenge}} to avenge them]].
* DuelBoss: [[spoiler:She's one when she announces her intentions to kill Zelos. [[CurbStompBattle Not that she's any challenge to begin with]].]]
* TheFarmerAndTheViper: Adelle forces Zelos to spare [[HorribleJudgeOfCharacter a thug who had just tried to brute-force them into submission]] and was about to be killed by the bounty hunter. [[spoiler:Then the thug scams Adelle into an ambush and Zelos has to save her ass. Not only Zelos [[PayEvilUntoEvil kills the guy this time]], [[NotSoStoic she doesn't appreciate it even a bit and refuses to admit that]] [[JerkassHasAPoint he was right when he said her attitude would hit her back]].]]
* GeniusBruiser: She has the intelligence to match her absurd strength.
* GenreBlindness: Everyone else takes Zelos for a JerkWithAHeartOfGold, even taking [[ProfessionalKiller his]] [[BloodKnight methods]] into consideration. Even [[TechnicalPacifist Aria and Snow]] don't mind [[HumansAreBastards his views of the world]]. Adelle, however, has an enormous beef with him, [[spoiler:and her obsession with avenging her parents led her to believe Zelos killed them [[ItAmusedMe because he liked to do it]], and it never occurs to her that they were [[ButForMeItWasTuesday just another target for Zelos]] [[MarriedToTheJob to be paid for]]]].
* HappilyAdopted: By Garnet of ''Spectral Souls I/II'' fame. It's where a good chunk of her skills, as well as her personal weapon, come from. This is subverted, however; having such a caring person like Garnet raising her didn't stop her from obsessing about avenging her parents. If anything, it's implied Adelle barely bats an eye or even cares about her adoptive mother at all, ''such is her obsession''.
* HeadbuttingHeroes: Justified. Adelle has a complete opposition to Zelos due to his unpleasant attitude, different view of life, and because [[spoiler:he killed her parents]].
* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler:She gets a massive one as she loses her fight with Zelos. Lydia ends up [[AFriendInNeed taking action in her stead]] after that.]]
* HeroicSafeMode: Having her parents killed when she was a child did such a number on her that she turned herself off emotionally to almost anyone and started dedicating herself to become TheAce of the Varanoir Academy just so she could be able to hunt and kill the responsible. When she discovered that person, she started turning that mode off: She stormed out of the Academy just to find the man, [[spoiler:a bounty hunter by the name of Zelos. She finally turns the safe mode off when she decides to confront Zelos. This results in her [[HeroicBSOD breaking down]] ''before she actually starts fighting him''. Zelos [[CurbStompBattle throwing her around during the battle]] and then going on to state that not only she never had a chance at killing him, but ''not even he has a chance at getting killed'', didn't help, as well as his usual {{Jerkass}} attitude and this one line:]]
-->[[spoiler:'''Zelos:''' Sorry, but I can only take life, not give it.]]
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Lydia [[ChildhoodFriends since childhood]], and surely with Aria.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Zelos accuses her of being this with her ChronicHeroSyndrome.
* HypocriticalHumor: She often calls out Zelos on his crude language. She's almost as foul mouthed as him.
* AnIcePerson: Both her initial element, and her exterior personality shell.
* ItsPersonal: Her entire drive since childhood [[spoiler:is to kill Zelos [[YouKilledMyFather and avenge her parents]]]].
* TheKlutz: Not shown in-game, but her profile states that she is horribly clumsy and her swordsmanship skills comes from her strength alone. Not to mention her tastes in making pottery: she can only ''try'' making it. Despite it being one of her hobbies, most of the time she only manages to make the clay ''explode out of the kiln''.
* PlayingNiceForNow: [[spoiler:The only reason she didn't jump at Zelos' throat immediately after she met him was because she didn't feel ready to face him. Then again, after all the time she spent on his team before finally making her move, you'd expect her to realize Zelos isn't exactly on anyone's league...]]
* PlayingWithFire: Her second elemental slot.
* NotSoStoic: She has some moments of this along the game. [[spoiler:Special mention goes to her reveal of her motives to Zelos. She starts breaking down ''before the fight even starts''.]]
* {{Revenge}}: Her main problem and ''obsession''. [[spoiler:Also the only reason she near-quietly stuck with Zelos, [[YouKilledMyFather her parent's killer]], for over half the game.]]
* SourOutsideSadInside: Adelle's rude and confrontational demeanor on Zelos lets clear that she's hurting badly on the inside as the story progresses.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Her profile states that she is friendly only to those she considers a friend.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: From the start, with Zelos. [[spoiler:And it's only to keep a façade in order to [[{{Revenge}} kill the man]]. She gets better after she starts sorting her shit out.]]
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: She's the Tomboy to Aria's Girly Girl.
* {{Tsundere}}: She's typically kind to her friends. Her personality completely reverses when dealing with Zelos. [[spoiler:[[YouKilledMyFather She has great reasons for this]].]]
* WhatTheHellHero:
** When [[SociopathicHero Zelos]] calls you out on [[HorribleJudgeOfCharacter letting a criminal go free]], you know you've done fucked up. [[spoiler:Adelle learned her lesson the hard way [[JerkassHasAPoint when the same criminal prepares a massive ambush for her and Zelos has to come to her aid]].]]
** Lydia also calls her out a few times on storming out of the Varanoir Academy without telling anyone [[spoiler:when she discovered the identity of the man who killed her parents]].
* WideEyedIdealist: She has quite the sense of justice in herself, contrasting Zelos' selfishness. In one ocasion, this bites her back hard [[spoiler:[[TheFarmerAndTheViper and she gets ambushed by the very thief she forced Zelos to spare in an earlier occasion]]]].
* YouKilledMyFather: Her parents were merchants killed by a contracted hitman. She has trained for most of her life just so she could hunt the hitman down. [[spoiler:That hitman happens to be [[BountyHunter Zelos]], and she remained in his team just so she could approach and kill him.]]

-->-- Admitting what he is and reinforcing to Zelos that he is not an enemy

A white-haired mercenary with a stark interest in Zelos. His weapon of choice is the "Breaker", which is akin to a cross between a tomahawk and boomerang.
----
* ArtificialHuman: [[spoiler:He's a Human Genome like Aria and Zelena. He's easier to get the hint from than Aria, however, due to the marks around his body.]]
* AuraVision: Duja is able to sense Elemental Cores, albeit on a lesser extent than Aria. [[spoiler:He can also sense traces of Dena in Zelos.]]
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: [[spoiler:When Duja finally finds Dena and realizes she's [[EmptyShell not]] [[BrainwashedAndCrazy the same]] [[AndIMustScream anymore]], he doesn't take it well. And he had to let a very ballistic Zelos finish her on top of that.]]
* BetrayalByInaction: [[spoiler:He already didn't give a shit before Dena desappearing, but after that he just left them to their own devices for a while. It didn't last long as he would later join Zelos, and the Genomes would all take interest on the bounty hunter.]]
* BigDamnHeroes: Duja [[spoiler:starts to position himself against the Genomes when he]] saves Noel from being killed by Thaddeus as the boy was frozen with fear.
* CastingAShadow: His elemental slot.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: White hair paired by platinum-colored eyes.
* DeadlyDisc: His flavor of weapon, along with PrecisionGuidedBoomerang.
* DefectorFromDecadence: [[spoiler:Duja changed from a highly passive person to someone who would tear every Human Genome apart just to find Dena. The others, especially Sauber, are not amused by that.]]
** [[spoiler:He has his sympathizers. Sexton isn't bothered by Duja's actions not even a bit, and Zelena actually likes him minding his own shenanigans.]]
* {{Determinator}}: [[spoiler:He has been searching for Dena for a long time, and he won't stop until he find either her, or answers. This is why he follows Zelos around, as this line from him states:]]
--> [[spoiler:'''Duja:''' Dena's not here. I am well aware of that. Although it's very subtle, I sense her presence coming from you.]]
* IncriminatingIndifference: Duja's [[TheStoic apparent apathy]] and involvement in every of the first-contacts with the Genomes only makes him become more and more suspicious. It comes to a point that Sciorra can't bring herself to trust Duja [[spoiler:when Ouedraogo flat out says he's one of the Genomes]], and [[ButtMonkey Vaughn]] [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness threatens him in case something happens to Bridgette due to his secrets]]. [[spoiler:It also says a lot when even the other Genomes start getting fed up on his attitude.]]
--> [[spoiler:'''Etelo''': Seriously, the MysteriousStranger thing is getting old.]]
* InfoDump:
** [[spoiler:When Zelos is about to raid Randeroll Labs and is bent on bringing God down, Duja adds to Zelos the information that [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu Snow already did that]] [[VideoGame/SpectralForce2 seventy years earlier]].]]
** [[spoiler:Dena's death was all Duja needed to finally starting spilling all of the beans to Zelos, including all the information he had on Gustavinus.]]
* IWillFindYou: [[spoiler:Duja wants to go with Zelos because he thinks the guy will lead him to Dena. Takes some time, but he hits the jackpot.]]
* MercyKill: [[spoiler:After he discovers [[AndIMustScream what happened to Dena]], he decides to take Zelovide down as a way to put her out of her misery, with the help of an ''out-of-control'' Zelos.]]
* MysteriousPast: Duja always seem to know way more about the Genomes than he lets on [[spoiler:due to being a deserter from the Human Genomes. Took him finally finding his answers to finally tell Zelos what's up with him]].
* MysteriousStranger: He never discloses his reasons or origins to anyone until the game nears the end. And when he starts giving hints on who he actually is...
* NotSoDifferentRemark: Sciorra accuses Ouedraogo and Duja of being alike at one point. [[spoiler:After Ouedraogo dies, however, Duja has some words to say in his own defense.]]
--> [[spoiler:'''Duja:''' We might be the same species, but that's where the similarities end. It's the same with humans, correct? You're all different as well.]]
* PerpetualFrowner: Instances of Duja smiling are ''rare'', period. One such instance is when Duja tells Zelos why he's sticking around with him late into the game.
* SafetyInIndifference: [[spoiler:All that indifference is a cover for his true emotions. Duja just refuses to get attached to people like he did to Dena. Took him realizing he lost her for good to actually start opening himself to others.]]
* ScrewDestiny: As Carla explains to the party about the reason for the Human Genomes' existence, saying that it was God's design, Duja slaps back at her that the ones the party killed were ''designed by fate'' [[note]]Well, actually, [[spoiler:a phony using a God's body to power himself]][[/note]], meaning fate ''can be challenged''.
** [[spoiler:Extra bonus points for Duja mentioning to Zelos that [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu Mugen was killed by Hiro and Snow back in the First Neverland War]] when Zelos decides to hunt "God" down.]]
* TheSlacker: [[spoiler:Only when he was with the Genomes. Duja doesn't give a damn for what they are doing and just wants to be with Dena. When she vanishes from Neverland and Duja suspects their "friends" had something to do with that, he decides to [[DefectorFromDecadence ditch them and get answers on his own]].]]
* TheStoic: He speaks little, and at a quite enigmatic manner at the start. Events then start showing him as a very direct person as information about him starts to spill. [[spoiler:The enigmatic mood is a sign that he's hiding an entire world from Zelos' party.]]
** NotSoStoic: [[spoiler:DEFINITELY once he finds out [[BrainwashedAndCrazy what happened]] [[AndIMustScream to Dena]].]]
* SympathyForTheDevil: [[spoiler:Duja feels bad for Ouedraogo after he dies, and compares his own search for [[TheLostLenore Dena]] to Ouedraogo's search for a [[BreedingSlave soulmate]].]]

A young, blue-haired lady that was rescued by Zelos and the other mercenaries. Upon realizing that she lost her memories, she decided to travel with Zelos and his "friends", hoping to remember her past along the way. Her weapon of choice is the staff.
----
* ArtificialHuman: [[spoiler:She's a Human Genome like Duja and Zelena. Unlike Duja, who was just a slacker who didn't give a fuck for Gustavinus' plans, she went the DefectorFromDecadence route. Unlike Duja, the only hint that she's a Genome is a small, conspicious tattoo mark around her arms.]]
* AuraVision: One of Aria's abilities [[spoiler:as a Human Genome]] is being able to sense energy like the one emanated by the Elemental Cores. She can also sense Human Genomes around her, [[spoiler:which comes in handy when she manages to sense the real Dena [[AndIMustScream inside Zelovide]]. * FriendToAllLivingThings: Her general attitude towards people. [[spoiler:Reflects on the way she was before her amnesia.]]
* GirlyGirl: To Adelle's {{Tomboy}}. Feminine mannerisms and sheer delicateness on her part constrasts Adelle's borderline rude behavior in and out of combat.
* HaveWeMet: Her first reaction by meeting Duja. He denies knowing her. [[spoiler:He's lying. It's revealed that Gustavinus made her and Dena as images of the best traits of mankind. Who would ever guess that this would backfire ''hard'' on the BigBad in Aria's case?]]
* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler:She gets hit HARD with this once she recovers her memories, due to remembering the first thing she did as she was born. Zelos notices her desperately questioning who she's supposed to be and gives her a simple answer: "be yourself".]]
* LightEmUp: Two elemental slots, and two of her [[LimitBreak Original Skills]] use that element.
* LossOfIdentity:
** [[spoiler:Aria gets depressed when she finally exits her EasyAmnesia, as her current persona clashes violently with the person she was supposed to be, leving her unable to decide what to do from now on. ** [[spoiler:Later, when Zelos is about to initiate his hunt for the Genomes, Aria, thinking she's a potential target, asks Zelos if she is to be considered as such. Zelos dismisses that claim as ridiculous and says she has given him no reason to turn against her.]]
* MagicStaff: Her signature weapon.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:She was a Human Genome with a lot of blood on her hands and got her amnesia after getting hit in the head and left for dead when she tried to confront her former "partners". * ThousandYardStare: Aria is prone to those for no specific reason, and they start to increase as Zelos gets to encounter the Human Genomes. [[spoiler:When she gets her memories back, [[HeroicBSOD she has a massive one]] [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone for a very understandable reason]]. She stops having those after her memories come back, though.]]
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: She's the Girly Girl to Adelle's Tomboy.

!!Little Snow / Koyuki Saito
->[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/snow_5.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:''"[[PreemptiveApology I'm sorry]]."'']]

-> ''"The world allows for the existence of all things. Every life has meaning, and new life comes into being every day. But that doesn't mean that anyone has the right to act as they will. Life itself is not a sin, but the sins perpetuated by that life resonate throughout all lives."''
-->-- Explaining the logic into her judgement of [[WellIntentionedExtremist Edward]]'s acts

A mysterious lady with white hair that needs Zelos' help. She's the protagonist of ''Spectral Force 2'', an Alien Soul (Description given to people brought from other worlds, like ''our Earth'' for example) and a teenager (Real name Koyuki Saito) [[TrappedInAnotherWorld brought forcibly from Earth to Neverland]] to fight in the demon lord Jadore's stead, but ended up actually not only foiling his plans, but also falling in love with him. She and Jadore entered a long sleep, from which both are awaken by the time of this game, seventy years later. Her weapon of choice is the staff.
----
* TheAgeless:
** The First Neverland War that Jadore caused lasted for ''fourteen years''. Snow has not aged ''a single year'' over the course of that war thanks to her powers as a complete Alien Soul.
** You would think that sealing herself along with Jadore for seventy years would erode her body and powers, right? WRONG. She looks the exact same as she looked in ''Spectral Force 2/3'', and is just as freaking powerful as before.
* AndThatLittleGirlWasMe: The biggest quote above says it all when Snow tells her own story to Aria while hiding the fact it was her.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion:
** Snow likes to send these to the right people. The one she throws at Nguyen when he shows he figured her identity out stands out in particular:
---> '''Snow:''' You already know how empty a life fueled by hatred can be. Once you've achieved your vengeance, [[AndThenWhat what's next]]? Isn't what you want a future, and not {{revenge}}?
** At the end of the First Neverland War, she got at the receiving end of this when confronting Hell Gaia. The corrupted will of earth, which desires to wipe living beings from Neverland due to the enormous war raging on it, managed to cause Snow to compare Neverland to ''Earth'' when it comes to how evil its sentient beings could be.
* TheAtoner: Snow does her best to compensate for her acts from when she worked for Jadore.
* BadassPacifist: Snow hates engaging in violence, despite possessing and controlling absurd powers.
* BattleCouple: She forms one with Jadore during their La Delfes CombinationAttack.
* BerserkButton: If anything happens to Jadore, she'll go ballistic.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: If you so much as touch Jadore the wrong way, she'll touch you in a ''deadly'' way. Despite her delicate talking, she packs a hell of a punch with her magic [[spoiler:and she tore through a "Double X" monster to take Jadore out of it]].
* CombatMedic: Snow is way more combat-oriented than Aria, but she can play the 'medic' part much better than basically anyone else on the cast. Or even ignore it as her [[LimitBreak Vi Ellarge]] just casts "Re-Raise" on the entire team.
* CriticalStatusBuff: Her Alien Soul Potential, one that she only shares with Naiz [[spoiler:and Hermes]]. It doubles her Attack and Defense. Not much for a mage like her, but let's just consider her main role in combat is [[PersonOfMassDestruction acting like a magic roadroller]], and then the extra defense becomes a welcomed thing...
* CursedWithAwesome: Lampshaded as she prepares her [[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill Excelan Theta]].
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Before becoming an Alien Soul, both her eyes and hair were brown.
* DeadGirlJunior: Little Snow, named by Jadore after Snow White, the woman who took care of him when he was abandoned by his father. [[BurnTheWitch She was killed in accusation of being in league with the demons due to her raising one]], [[StartOfDarkness motivating Jadore to turn against mankind]].
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu:
** Snow and Hiro are famed for having not only having brought Jadore down, but also for bringing down [[PhysicalGod Mugen]] and Hell Gaia. All in [[VideoGame/SpectralForce2 a game's worth]] of story.
** Snow was also being pursued by angels under the goddess Coleia's orders due to being considered an aberration of nature. Snow eventually got the chance to pay the goddess personally in kind when she decided to bring an entire phalanx to decimate mankind in Neverland.
* DidYouJustRomanceCthulhu: [[MadeASlave Working as a slave to]] [[BigBad Jadore]] ultimately lead her to [[StockholmSyndrome falling in love with the Demon Prince]]. After Jadore got his ass handed to him by her, Snow calmed him down and asked to be sealed alongside him, just she could be together with him. You could say that fourteen years of working with the guy would eventually do that.
* TheDogBitesBack: When Snow realized what she has become in order to find a way home, she decides that her way home isn't worth it and [[HeelFaceTurn turns against Jadore]].
* ExtremeDoormat: She initially was this both before Jadore dragged her to Neverland, and during her servitude to him. [[AntiHero Hiro]], of all people, helps Snow grow out of that and into being a strong woman.
* EyeColorChange: Just like [[PowerDyesYourHair her hair]], becoming an Alien Soul changed her eye color from brown to [[InnocentBlueEyes pure blue]].
* ForcedIntoEvil: Jadore told Snow he was the only one who could bring her back home, but he wanted her to first conquer the world. [[ManipulativeBastard Nevermind that the motherfucker actually was the one who brought her to Neverland for starters]].
* FortuneTeller:
** Her initial class is named like this. Also, she talks a lot to Zelos and other people like she's reading the future, a thing she can actually do.
** This is also how she thinks Zelos will lead her to Jadore when the time comes, [[spoiler:and how she instantly figures out Duja and Nguyen's backgrounds]].
** It has its limits, though. [[spoiler:For example, Snow has to come and inquire [[WellIntentionedExtremist Edward]] personally about [[ArtificialHuman Hermes]] and debate on [[KillAndReplace his purpose for mankind]].]]
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Snow has consideration for all life, [[ArtificialHuman Human Genomes]] included.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: God, Koyuki '''''earned''''' her reputation as a PersonOfMassDestruction during the First Neverland War and all it took was being brought to Neverland via a complicated ritual. She used to obliterate entire armies for Jadore before having a conscience crisis.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: She was the protagonist of ''Spectral Force 2''... [[NoExportForYou A game that never saw the West]], like most of the ''Spectral'' franchise. Naiz, another protagonist from [[VideoGame/SpectralSoulsRessurrectionOfTheEtherealEmpires another game]], had better luck than her. However, ''Spectral Force 3'' for the Platform/XBox360 saw a western release, and it details the exact same events, even if Snow isn't the protagonist.
* IconicOutfit: Snow's dress and transparent brown coat. Decades passed since ''Spectral Force 2'' was released, and Snow still sports the same overall look, when other classical characters like Jadore (Who got a wardrobe change in ''[[VideoGameRemake Spectral Force Chronicle]]'') and Hiro (who got ''several'' wardrobe changes between ''Spectral Vs. Generation'' and the ''Spectral Souls'' series) got design changes.
** IconicItem: Her Rod of Omniscience. It's her signature weapon after all.
* IHaveManyNames: "Little Snow" is just her most recognizable name. She is also known as the "Snow Queen" around the Vergis/Japitos region.
* ImmortalityBeginsAtTwenty: It happens when you are a case of successful Alien Soul summoning.
* InnocentBlueEyes: Not natural, though. Her eyes were brown before [[EyeColorChange her Alien Soul abilities kicked in]].
* KamehameHadouken: Her [[LimitBreak Excelan Theta]] has her charging a huge deal of mana over one arm and then shooting it as a massive beam against an entire area. Bonus points for having quite the long range and area effect compared to other Original Skills, rivaled only by Jadore's Scream of Sheol.
* LightEmUp: Her main element, as Snow has two light-attuned slots, as well as three of her [[LimitBreak Original Skills]].
* LockedIntoStrangeness: Becoming an Alien Soul made her eyes blue and her hair silver white... and so it stayed.
* MadeASlave: By Jadore when she landed on Neverland. He said he was the only one who could take her home (Despite being the one who brought her to Neverland in the first place), and Snow, heavily desperate to return to her worthless life, was willing to do anything, including [[ForcedIntoEvil taking over Neverland for Jadore]]. Then she meets Hiro, Jadore's sister...
* MagicStaff: Wields one in combat.
* MeaningfulName: Actually, the name Jadore gave her is English ''for her own first name''. Koyuki ''really'' means "Little Snow".
* MoralityPet: She is one to Jadore. [[MoralityChain It goes both ways]], as he actually became ''a better person'' because of her.
* MySignificanceSenseIsTingling: [[spoiler:She is able to sense Jadore is in danger and immediately rushes to his aid, [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness dismissing Zelos' team in the process]]. Zelos catches up to the weirdness and follows her into Sheol Cavern, resulting in him [[BigDamnHeroes helping her free Jadore from the insides of a Double-X]].]]
* MysticalWhiteHair: Granted to her by her powers as an Alien Soul. Her hair was originally brown, as shown in ''Spectral Force 2''.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: [[FluffyTheTerrible "Little Snow"]]. Over half a century may have passed, but what she did in ''Spectral Force 2/3'' when she was a slave to Jadore is still a nice reason for anyone with a long enough life (for example, Shiro) to fear the return of "Little Snow", as she's mostly seen as an ApocalypseMaiden. Koyuki herself doesn't like being seen that way and berates Nguyen when he brings the issue up... [[spoiler:In addition of exchanging that with bringing up [[{{Revenge}} his life mission of killing Brumeia]].]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: You wouldn't tell that Snow is actually [[Really700YearsOld near a hundred years old]].
* TheOmniscient: Snow seems to know everything about everyone, and in most cases tends to read people like open books.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: She'll go out of tune if something happens to Jadore. [[spoiler:This is how Zelos notices something is wrong and follows Snow into Sheol Cavern when she suddenly decides to leave the party.]]
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: What she was before being pulled into Neverland. Naiz's case isn't different.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: This is what you can describe an Alien Soul like and her very profile says that. Taking her gameplay skills into account, she REALLY lives up to this status. Better described in [[YMMV/BlazingSoulsAccelate the Game Breaker entry]].
* PowerDyesYourHair: These same powers granted to an Alien Soul changed Snow's hair color from brown to white.
* ThePowerOfLove: The only thing able to make [[BigBad Jadore]] stop his own onslaught [[LoveRedeems and surrender]] after having to [[TheDogBitesBack fight even her]] in the First Neverland War.
* PrecursorHero: Snow can be considered this to Naiz.
* PreemptiveApology: At every of her turns. Of course, given [[PersonOfMassDestruction how much power she packs]], she can only feel really sorry for whoever's on the enemy side.
* Really700YearsOld: Subverted, not exactly centuries old (just nearing her first one actually), but she surely spent seventy years on that seal, between the end of ''Spectral Force 2/3'' and ''Blazing Souls'', and she's in fact TheAgeless due to her Alien Soul powers.
* SignatureMove: She has ''three'', all brought from ''Spectral Force 2'':
** Vi Ellarge, a super healing spell. In ''Blazing Souls'', it has a "[[VideoGame/FinalFantasy Reraise]]" function affecting the whole party, ''regardless of range''.
** ''[[NukeEm Excelan Theta]]''. Snow channels energy from her hands and then launches [[KamehameHadouken a violent discharge]] in a general direction, which basically ''destroys anything in its path''. And in ''Blazing Souls'' this technique is ''[[GameBreaker just as violent and broken as her reputation suggests]]''.
---> '''Snow:''' [[CursedWithAwesome This power has been a curse]]. Its only purpose is for death and destruction. And now I'll use it to build a better tomorrow! [[CallingYourAttacks Excelan Theta!!!]]
** La Delfes, her first Special in ''Spectral Force 2'', is her CombinationAttack with Jadore in ''Blazing Souls'', a massively devastating move with ''huge area of effect'' with ''a very low demand on both's SP moves''.
* SquishyWizard: Subverted. She's indeed a fragile mage, but she also has the [[TurnsRed Alien Soul]] Potential, which will massively increase her physical abilities should things come to a critical point, making her VERY HARD to take down, as mages in this game also tend to be resistant to magic.
* StockholmSyndrome: From a slave to Jadore... To the person who will unleash hell should anything happen to him.
* TrappedInAnotherWorld: Her situation in ''Spectral Force 2/3'', [[ManipulativeBastard caused by Jadore]]. She eventually comes to embrace Neverland as her new home.
* YinYangBomb: With either the Rune Blade or the Rod of Omniscience, you can configure Snow to be a fully offensive mage focusing on both Holy and Dark magic.
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: She's an Alien Soul, a human [[TrappedInAnotherWorld brought from our Earth to Neverland]]. Needless to say, seventy years had passed from the end of the First Neverland War and she never got to see her home again, coming to a point where she asks Naiz how Earth was when ''he'' was pulled into Neverland.

A pink-haired catgirl that hunts in order to survive. After encountering Zelos and his party, and hearing about their jobs as jacks-of-all-trades, forces herself into the team. Her weapon of choice is the spear.
----
* ActionGirl: Sciorra has no fear of battle, and in fact she looks for reasons to ''jump into it''. Why else would she walk around with Zelos of all people?
* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: [[spoiler:And she will NEVER admit she actually likes Zelos.]]
* AmazonianBeauty: The amount of skin exposed shows a fairly toned body.
* BerserkButton: Don't ever pet her. If you're someone she especially don't like, the results are described as energetic, bloody, and the stuff nightmares are made of. Touching her tail is off limits in general as well, [[FantasticArousal for other reasons]]. Of course, Fairuza won't give a fuck for this due to her own case of CutenessProximity with Sciorra, to the point Sciorra is actually ''terrified'' of her.
** Also, she would like to remind you that's she's way more than just an object. Ouedraogo learned this one the hard way when he referred to her as a "[[BreedingSlave broodmare]]".
* CatGirl: She's a beastkin, like many in the ''Spectral'' franchise before her.
* CutenessProximity: She's noted to have a serious weakness for cute, cuddly, and fuzzy things and can not resist petting, fondling, and generally playing with anything of the sort that comes near her. In fact, she has tons of plushies herself and her profile states that she can't sleep unless she's surrounded by them.
* DishingOutDirt: Her first elemental slot.
* DontThinkFeel: She acts almost entirely on instinct for everything, which tends to disturb the rest of the group.
* GenkiGirl: But not as much as Lydia, definitely. She still can't keep herself in a single spot, as evidenced when she tries to concentrate when Isaac is helping Aria and Noel with their magic trainning.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: On her [[CombinationAttack Death Spiral]] with Lydia. Both perform a 30-Hit combo onto the poor target.
* PlayingWithFire: Her second elemental slot, and her most prominent element.
* ShipTease: [[spoiler:If her reaction to Zelos' comments on her fur is of any sign.]]

* AcrophobicBird: '''Literally'''. One defining trait of his is that he has a fear of heights, despite being a WingedHumanoid.
* AnIcePerson: Only his third elemental slot, he's quite friendly.

* BlackMage: His main ability, with Potentials tailored for this. Although Critical Break would [[SquishyWizard serve him better]] than [[TurnsRed Unleash Magic]].
* BlowYouAway: His main skill in magic. All his [[LimitBreak Original Skills]] are from this element.
* CowardlyLion: A huge trait of Noel's personality is his cowardice. Sciorra is incredibly annoyed at this at one point.
* CurbStompCushion: Noel canonically loses his solo fight against Thaddeus, but Zelos comments that he did well and greatly damaged his foe.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Green eyes and green hair.
* DishingOutDirt: His second elemental slot.
* HeroicBSOD: Has one when his home village is attacked by the Genomes, [[spoiler:namely Thaddeus]]. Zelos doesn't take it well.
* IJustWantToBeBadass: After Zelos saves his life, Noel wants to become strong just like him. Zelos however has serious doubts about his capabilities, especially during his HeroicBSOD.
* IronicFear: He could fly, but he's acrophobic. Al and Isaac offer to help him out of this problem.
* MagicStaff: Noel is mage-type character, so he wields one.
* SelfDeprecation: Noel has no confidence in himself, that being his FatalFlaw. While out of focus for most of the game, he still gets some development out of this and becomes more willing to become stronger on his own merits.
* SquishyWizard: Noel is good with magic and not much else. You could say that putting him in a frontline against physical hitters would be suicide.
* TagalongKid: He's quite young and decides to go with Zelos when he saves his life.
* TookALevelInBadass: Noel eventually gains the courage to take on Thaddeus, the Human genomes who attacked his hometown, by himself. Even if he loses, Zelos will praise his efforts.

A young elf girl that Zelos' crew encounters while exploring some ruins. She is an explorer and treasure hunter at heart, and is always around her posse, Kaye and Vaughn, for safety. She's also [[SpoiledBrat extremely temperamental]] and will lash out at anyone who challenges her. She joins the team after Zelos butts into her attempts to get treasure one too many times.
----
* ACupAngst: She has some issues with that, being a teenager. And Vaughn almost brings it up in front of Liza.
* AdventurerArchaeologist: As stated in her profile, she developed a strong love for history due to her parents' occupation as Archeologists, and continues their legacy, to the best of her ability. The only time she feels truly happy is when exploring undiscovered ruins, as that is the only time [[TearJerker she feels as though her parents were still with her]].
* TheBerserker: Most of her behavior and fighting involves her unleashing her UnstoppableRage into ''everything''.
* BestFriend: She has one in Kaye since before her parents died, to the point Kaye's actually the only person she will ''take orders'' from.
* BigNo: If she starts running out of health, she may scream this when taking further damage, or if she's hit by a particularly potent attack.
* BrattyHalfPint: Has the brattiness down to a "T", and is quite small, though her age is ambiguous at best.
* CleavageWindow: Some kind of frilly undershirt is all that shields her breasts from exposure. Her short tie, which hangs down the center, subverts this in a curious way.
* DefeatEqualsFriendship: If everything is played correctly, after four encounters with Zelos and an accidental BigDamnHeroes, she'll join the party, bringing Kaye and Vaughn along.
* HairTriggerTemper: As the in-game profile describes her: "To say that Bridgette has a temper is to say that water has a tendency to be wet." She displays this all throughout the game, seemingly perpetually angry.
* KarmicThief: One part of her occupation is stealing from the rich. Considering what greedy people did to her, it's no surprise.
* LightEmUp: Her second elemental slot.
* TheNapoleon: Second check in her shortness. She WILL attempt to scythe-slash anyone who insults her height, usually amplified with furious shrieking.
* PintsizedPowerHouse: Third check in her shortness. She's obviously quite short, yet wields the biggest weapon class in the game: the Scythe. And she swings it around like it's made of paper. That's not to mention her [[ShockAndAwe Thunder]] [[LimitBreak Strike]], a lightning-based massacre from the very first fight you get in with her.
* PlayingWithFire: Her third elemental slot.
* PrincessInRags: While not likely royalty, she fits the overall attributes: She WAS rich, but was swindled out of her inheritance by the rest of her family. She retains the RichBitch attitude, often outright demanding things from everyone else. And her arrogance is top-tier. The only part not quite kept is that, despite being destitute, she somehow retains a very good-looking outfit.
* PursuingParentalPerils: Bridgette is an archaeologist and treasure hunter because her parents were this. She also sees in this job a way to connect with them.
* SatisfiedStreetRat: Possibly. She never mentions her dead parents, and has seemingly gotten a firm hold on her life, even if she's still homeless.
* ShockAndAwe: Half of her unique super attacks use electricity.
* SinisterScythe: Her weapon of choice. Official art portrays her personal one as [[EvilWeapon having an eye]] that always looks at her.
* SourOutsideSadInside: Bridgette's background profile states that her short temper is to ''hide her depression''.
* StepfordSmiler: Not within the game itself, but ALL artwork of her portrays her as smiling sweetly, despite the fact that she is filled with rage and frustration.
* SweetTooth: An entire in-game mission revolves around going out to [[MassMonsterSlaughterSidequest kill a bunch of dragons]] just to earn enough money to "buy her a swimming pool of cake and ice cream". It was [[ThePollyanna Nguyen's]] idea...
* TechnicolorEyes: Given her evident proficiency with Electricity, her purple eyes could be related to plasma.
* TinyTyrannicalGirl: By now, it is quite evident that her small stature is a major character trait... Short, angry, female. All checks confirmed. She'll even lash out at Vaughn when in a particularly bad mood.
* TrueCompanions: [[BestFriend Kaye]] and [[IOweYouMyLife Vaughn]] aren't just her posse. They are the ''only ones'' who stuck by her side when her life went south.
* {{Tsundere}}: Tsun-tsun 95% of the time, but she has had some sweet moments with [[JerkAss Zelos]], for some reason. He always blows her off, immediately resetting her back to Tsun-mode.

A lovable and polite dark elf who serves as Bridgette's bodyguard along with Vaughn. Originally from a royal family, she parted ways with it when she was forced to choose between her blood and [[BestFriend her newfound friendship with Bridgette]]. After Bridgette became a destitute, [[UndyingLoyalty Kaye stuck with her and Vaughn]] and now goes wherever Bridgette goes, including Zelos' team.
----
* ActionGirl: Kaye is just as active as the other women on her team, especially when it comes to her duty of protecting Bridgette.
* BadassInANiceSuit: And God she looks way pretty in it.
* BestFriend: With Bridgette, to the point Kaye [[RebelliousPrincess abandoned her royal profile]] for the girl, and she's the only person Bridgette will ever listen.
* {{Bifauxnen}}: Kaye dresses like a man, and she resembles an androgynous male.
* BlowYouAway: The second part of her set.
* CastingAShadow: The primary base of her skills, the other base being [[BlowYouAway Wind]].
* TheConfidant: She's this to Bridgette.
* FragileSpeedster: She's fragile indeed, but she can run ''circles'' around other characters if you give her the right gear.
* HiddenBuxom: A nice pair that she hides inside her bodyguard suit.
* HopelessSuitor: Her family keeps throwing guys like these her way in order to try and bring her home. Kaye tends to send these guys back with little effort, using the furious Bridgette as a last resort sometimes.
* {{Invisibility}}: Her [[LimitBreak Shadow Form]] turns her invisible to the enemy eye. For three turns, she can't be targeted, but she can still be hit by splash damage. It also makes her a GameBreaker of sorts as it is her Level 1 Original Skill (Therefore requiring very little resources to pull off), allowing her at least two free turns of smashing her enemies around the map, rinse and repeat.
* MsFanservice: One art shows her in a nice dress, and yeah, she's damn pretty out of that suit. Not that her suit doesn't make her pretty for starters.
* {{Protectorate}}: Look at her quote above describing how Bridgette means the world to her.
* QueenIncognito: One reason why she dresses like a man. And she has no interest in coming back home, [[spoiler:unlike Nguyen]].
* RebelliousPrincess: She parted ways with her family when she discovered that being royalty would mean being separated from [[BestFriend Bridgette]]. The other reason for her crossdessing, also, is her distaste of the mysoginistic culture that her country has.
* RedOniBlueOni: Blue Oni to Vaughn's red. Kaye is cold and reserved, while Vaughn is passionate and agressive.
* SamusIsAGirl: A nice moment in one scene involving her, [[spoiler:provoked by Zelos, no less]].
* SharpDressedWoman: In line with being Bridgette's bodyguard.
* SoulCuttingBlade: Her [[LimitBreak Lost Soul]] Original Skill has her extracting the soul of her targets to shatter them apart with her knife.
* SweetPollyOliver: She does this as her way to act incognito from her family. You would notice from the first time you see her, but somehow no one in Neverland [[spoiler:before Zelos]], except Vaughn and Bridgette, [[SamusIsAGirl have ever noticed Kaye's a "she"]].

* BlowYouAway: His second elemental slot.
* ButtMonkey: He always finds a way to end up under Bridgette's ire. [[spoiler:This is bad enough for him to end up in a crossfire between Bridgette and Zelena, for example.]]
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: A reddish-brown pair of eyes accompany his ginger hair.
* DeadpanSnarker: A contrast to Kaye's politeness that tends to irritate Bridgette.
* {{Determinator}}: This guy will stick by Bridgette's side no matter what the fuck is thrown at him, even if it is [[TinyTyrannicalGirl Bridgette herself]].

* GoodOldFisticuffs

* IOweYouMyLife: He was saved by Bridgette's parents in the past. This is the reason he hangs with their daughter even today, despite her being a destitute.
* MightyGlacier: For such a [[PlayingWithFire fiery guy]], he's impressively bulky on his stats, oriented highly for his brawling, with huge HP growth to go with his STR and VIT. A contrast to Kaye's FragileSpeedster BlackMage tendencies.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Vaughn will ditch his usual lively behavior as soon as he detects ''any possible threat'' to Bridgette. [[IncriminatingIndifference Just ask Duja]].

->''"Who cares if I'm old? Age is just a number anyway! Age only means something if you obsess over it."''
-->-- After Al triggers her BerserkButton, and right before he points out her [[{{Hypocrite}} hipocrisy]]

Daughter of the leader of a formerly powerful nation from the First Neverland War, Liza Valiard is a green-haired vampire with war experience from [[VideoGame/SpectralSoulsRessurrectionOfTheEtherealEmpires the Seven-Years War]], having fought at first alongside Hiro, and then with Naiz. Twenty years after the war, she's working as an agent for the Rozess Empire and is investigating the appearance of Human Genomes, as well as their leader. After some chance encounters with Zelos, she correctly deduces the Genomes are heavily interested on Zelos' Elemental Cores, and decides to accompany him, to which Zelos offers no resistance after seeing her proving herself in battle.
----
* ActionGirl: Between the Seven-Years War and whatever happened over the twenty years up until Blazing Souls, Liza surely evolved into this.
* TheAgeless: She's very young as a vampire, but being one means that her body ages ''very'' slowly. Even now, she still looks like a teenager.
* AttemptedRape: She was victim of one, and got saved on the nick of time. This, and her first encounter with Max, was what caused her to join the army in the Seven-Years' War.
* BathtubBonding: In one occasion, she offers this to Al, who gets ''incredibly flustered'' as he's ''twenty years younger than her''. It happens they had this when Al was a child. It also leads Liza to deduct that Al only pushes her BerserkButton in order to draw her attention to him.
* BerserkButton:
** NEVER, EVER, speak of her age. She'll prompt you to fight for your life. Al can attest to that.
---> '''Liza (Interrupting Al's mention of her being over thirty):''' If you value your life, you'll stop right there.
*** You actually get to see the usual result of [[IShallTauntYou Al's taunts]] during his and Liza's [[CombinationAttack Purge]]. HilarityEnsues as enemies in the vicinity suffer her wrath instead of Al.
** Putting Al in danger [[BigBrotherInstinct will also trigger her in a bad way]].
** Also, [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil certain levels of mysoginy]] are not tolerated by her due to her near-rape experience. Amoral and depraved as he is, Sauber gets to be a massive one himself to Liza, [[spoiler:and had Zelos not interferred, she would have executed him on the spot]].
* BigSisterInstinct: She appointed herself responsible for Al full-time, and shows heavy concern for his misadventures and eventual addition to Zelos' team.
* BlindIdiotTranslation: Liza's name is translated here as Leeza. And this isn't even the worst of Aksys' translation trainwreck.
* CastingAShadow: As per vampire tradition.
* CostumePorn: She's ''definitely'' [[PimpedOutDress well-dressed]]. And [[HerBoyfriendsJacket Max's jacket]] does a fine combo on that dress.
* DishingOutDirt: Her second elemental slot.
* FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire: Neither her nor her father Bayard are bad guys. Liza's actually very friendly to anyone that isn't evil.
* TheGunslinger: The only one in Zelos' team besides Zelos himself, and the one who gets the Ultimate Arbiter as Zelos is the only one who can handle the other ultimate gun (which happens to be his personal weapon as well).
* HerBoyfriendsJacket: The jacket she's constantly seen wearing all around? It's [[VideoGame/SpectralSoulsRessurrectionOftheEtherealEmpires Max's]]. Adelle for some damn reason recognizes the jacket on the first encounter.
* IfYouKillHimYouWillBeJustLikeHim: [[spoiler:Zelos' argument for not letting Liza finish Sauber. He executes the bastard instead.]]
* IntergenerationalFriendship:
** With Al, due to her being around twenty years older than him. Crosses into MayflyDecemberFriendship as her lifespan is incredibly higher than Al's.
** Actually, with a good chunk of the cast, as she's over her thirties. Good examples are Adelle and Lydia.
** It goes the opposite way too. Hiro, Snow, Jadore and Shiro, who have all seen the First Neverland War, are old enough to count. And Naiz and Max, on a lesser scale, as both are a good decade older than her.
* LadyOfWar: She survived a war and will survive it again if necessary.
* LightEmUp: A third part of her set, making hers a mixed-element build.
* LikeBrotherAndSister: She's effectively this with Al.
* MageMarksman: Exclusively dedicated to that role. Her element slots unfortunately don't help her much unless she's using the [[InfinityPlusOneSword Armaggeddon]].
* OlderThanTheyLook: The main reason Al teases her about her age. Liza's around 36, but due to [[TheAgeless being a vampire]], she ages very slowly just like her father Bayard, a man who lived enough to see ''[[VideoGame/SpectralForce2 Jadore and Snow in action]]''. Adelle, who's probably 19, even comments Liza looks ''younger than her''. Zelos' expression when learning of that is ''priceless''.
--> '''Zelos (After Al manages to blurt out Liza's age range):''' W-wait... You're OLDER than me!?
* OurVampiresAreDifferent: Well, you don't see her or her father Bayard exploding under sunlight like normal vampires do.
* PermanentlyMissableContent: End a fight too early in Harbor City Girvea, and you'll set up the wrong trigger for her events, making her nearly impossible to recruit and rendering your GoldenEnding inaccessible.
* PoliticallyActivePrincess: As in she's a spy for Roze's government tracking down rogue factions around Neverland. The Human Genomes happen to be one of those.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Well, vampire eyes, but you don't need to guess what happens if you push her BerserkButton.
* RoyalBlood: The Valiards have stomping political power in Neverland, what with Bayard having led the vampires ''for over eighty years now''. Not only that, she's also slated to inherit the command of her vampire clan. She mentions this many times thoughout the game.
* TheGunslinger: Unlike Zelos, she's exclusively dedicated to this. However, her main build leans toward magic.
* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: Her Asmik Derringer [[LimitBreak Original Skill]] has her charging energy onto her gun and then unloading ''[[MoreDakka fifteen explosive energy discharges]]'' at her targets.
* TraumaInducedAmnesia: Liza was '''very young''' during the Seven-Years' War, when she suffered her AttemptedRape. She got a severe trauma from this and lost parts of her memory, only remembering that Max [[BigDamnHeroes saved her life at the last moment]].
* TrueCompanions: With Naiz on this game, and definitely with Max, which she married.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Al acts like this with her. He'll never miss a chance to trigger her BerserkButton.
* WarriorPrincess: Daughter to the leader of a vampire clan who works for the Rozess Empire, one of two [[TheGunslinger gunslingers]] in Zelos' team, [[LadyOfWar battled on the Seven-Years War]]. Do you need more than this?

* BadassAdorable: Lydia is able to make friends with just about anyone, including the near unlikable Zelos. But make no mistakes: she's a talented fighter and she can kick your ass right into next week.
* BestFriend: With Adelle [[ChildhoodFriends since childhood]].
** SecretKeeper: She's the only one aware of why Adelle is really walking around with Zelos.
* BloodKnight: Lydia loves fighting, and will be highly excited for the chance of hitting anything with her fists. Zelos himself gets infected with her energy.

* GenkiGirl: Moreso than Sciorra. To the point that even Zelos gets excited watching her disposition to fight.
* GirlishPigtails: And also a HairAntennae.
* GoodOldFisticuffs: She uses the same weapons as Vaughn, but has a more refined style. She's also heavily combo-oriented, while Vaughn [[MightyGlacier sticks with heavy blows]].
* GogglesDoNothing: Yeah, she has one apparently being used as her headband.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: [[ChildhoodFriends With Adelle]]. But she can work herself into any mostly team-up.
* JackOfAllStats: Lydia's stat growth is even on every stat, making her a bit too much balanced for a brawler.
* KickThemWhileTheyAreDown: A very common practice of her shown in her Waterfall and Dragon's Fury [[LimitBreak Original Skills]].
* MotorMouth: Lydia has a habit of talking too much, even worse than Vaughn. She started accidental rumors about Adelle that way, and on her introduction to Team Zelos, she nearly spills out about Adelle's parents [[spoiler:being the very reason Adelle is still hanging with Zelos]].
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Her [[CombinationAttack Death Spiral]] with Sciorra has her and the beastkin pummeling the target for 30 hits. Quite a thrashing when you consider the combination needed for this are their strongest [[LimitBreak Original Skills]]. Her Carnage Sword with [[BestFriend Adelle]] goes even further, with ''44 hits''.
* PlayingWithFire: Her first elemental slot.
* SailorFuku: A big non-uniform example in her dress. She's still a student at the Varanoir Academy, though.

-->-- Contrasting Zelos' lone wolf attitude

A demon [[AdventurerArchaeologist treasure hunter]] who seems interested on the rumors about the Elemental Cores. She tracks Zelos down when she hears that he's after the same stones and seeks to get one for herself with his help.
----
* ActionGirl: Another adventurer who likes to get her hands dirty in combat.
* AdventurerArchaeologist: Makes a living out of hunting treasures and gambling.
* AmazonianBeauty: She's incredibly pretty, and has a great physique. Her fighting style also backs it up.
* AnIcePerson: Her second elemental slot, but her personality is quite warm.
* CutenessProximity:
** Just like Aria and Sciorra, furries. However, with Fairuza, beastkins are included. This ''terrifies'' Sciorra to no end. HilarityEnsues if you execute her and Sciorra's CombinationAttack, Cat's Paw. The enemy ends up suffering with their own shenanigans.
** This is also why she doesn't mind hugging a DirtyOldMan [[ForcedTransformation turned Chickapede]] like Shiro.
* DeadlyDisc: Her weapon style, like Duja.
* DamselInDistress: Sexton forces that situation into her on one occasion. The only reason she doesn't storm out of it is the risk Sexton poses to the citizens of Girvea, forcing Zelos to make the trade. Zelos, [[SociopathicHero being Zelos]], gives the exact number of zero fucks and [[IShallTauntYou provokes Sexton]] due to this.
* DoubleEntendre: More like she's a ''walking Double Entendre'' with the way she talks.
* DressedLikeADominatrix: Non-villainous example. Fairuza is flirty, wears a black leather outfit that leaves little to the imagination, with matching black gloves and high-hells.
* TheGambler: Not shown in-game, but Fairuza makes a living out of gambling. And she knows how to win.
* GravityMaster: This is how her [[LimitBreak Newton's Bane]] works.
* GuideDangIt: Recruiting her demands two steps that must be done before your first fight with Thaddeus: Fighting at a specific, hard-to-reach and probably ''high-level'' map, and visiting another place, just as hard to reach as it demands a specific title to dig into the entrance. Both places are mentioned by people on the Guild as having been visited by her, but there's zero indication that you did something right, with the end result appearing almost like a BigLippedAlligatorMoment in Albahart where she pushes herself into Zelos' team, after the fight with Thaddeus. And let's remind you that, save for the ''Spectral Souls II'' bonus trio, [[GottaCatchEmAll you need every character]] to reach the game's GoldenEnding, and this goes for Fairuza.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Definitely. She's also very good at delivering pep talk, Sexton's case being her best demonstration.
* HeroicSeductress: Her beauty is also a big weapon of hers, as her [[LimitBreak Original Skills]] show.
* MsFanservice: Fairuza is one of the most provocatively women in the game, wearing a {{Stripperiffic}} outfit that exposes most of her body. Her quotes are also full of DoubleEntendre.
* ShockAndAwe: One of her elements.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Her main art should have told you of how much clothing she likes to wear.
* YouAreNotAlone: In her optional scene [[spoiler:before the Randeroll Labs raid]], Fairuza tries to get Zelos into that aesop and notes how he keeps a mask of a jerk in order to not involve anyone on his problems.

Chief angel from the Heavens, Isaac is a GuardianAngel who descended into Neverland to investigate the [[ArtificialHumans Human Genomes]] and their ambition of [[KillAndReplace supplanting mankind as the dominant species]]. * GoodIsNotSoft: Isaac is quite calm and peaceful as a person, but he will wipe the bad guys from the face of the planet with an angelic equivalent to a KillSat if they get on his bad side.
* GuardianAngel: His main role, along with being in a boss position up high.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Isaac may be the most benevolent character in Zelos' team. Seriously. [[spoiler:He even manages to bring one of the bad guys to his side.]]
* HiddenDepths: Isaac is quite fond of woodworking, and a perfectionist at that. His profile states that he'll spend years working on the same piece just to hit every detail right.

* IncorruptiblePurePureness: Isaac is a pacific and benevolent angel.
* InnocentBlueEyes
* MellowFellow: Try to spot Isaac losing his cool, even once. We dare you.
* MoralityPet: He instantly becomes one to Zelena, [[spoiler:to the point she switches sides near the end just to be with him]].

She at first appears on the middle of a fight between Zelos and some Generic Genomes, forcing him to aid her in the fight. Some time later, she offers to help Zelos against one of the [[ArtificialHuman Human Genomes]] themselves and ends up including herself on the team, due to said Genome's connection with another of the Saints.
----
* ActionGirl: Highly proactive and willing to take matters into her own hands.
* AmazonianBeauty: Downplayed. Carla is fairy muscular, but is better when used as a mage.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: She's a good person at heart and great company to have around. Unless you're evil or you're called Edward, then she'll go ballistic and swing her scythe around to turn you to shreds.
* BlowYouAway: Her first Original Skill, Shadow Wind, is [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Wind-elemental]], despite her [[MakingASplash elemental theme]].
* DueToTheDead: [[spoiler:She gives Demeter a proper burial when he dies, even bothering to ask for Zelos' help.]]
* EscortMission: Twice.
** The battle where you first encounter her turns into one of these from the moment she appears, and she likes to make it hard, as she [[LeeroyJenkins likes to charge at the Genomes]] and starts at a quite distant point of the map.
** The second battle with her flag on (and where you get her in your party) isn't hard, however, as she starts the battle right beside your party and you have full control of her.
* HiddenDepths: She loves making poetry. Also, as her profile states, she also enjoys walking on the beach at night, fusion cuisines, [[BreadEggsMilkSquick using her]] [[MakingASplash powers]] [[BreadEggsMilkSquick to decimate enemies]]... [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking And puppies]].
* AnIcePerson: Her main element, as [[MakingASplash Water]] doesn't have a representation in this game.
* IWillFindYou: She's in it because she's chasing another of the Original Saints, namely [[WellIntentionedExtremist Edward]]. [[spoiler:She gets her wish granted along the game and Edward ends up [[HeelFaceTurn joining Zelos' ranks]] in time for the final battle]].
* LightEmUp: Her second elemental slot.
* MakingASplash: Her entire theme as the Guardian of Water. Doesn't show in-game, unfortunately.
* MsFanservice: She really has quite few clothing and [[{{Stripperiffic}} lots of skin to show]]. One art has her dressed more modestly, however.
* NotSoStoic:
** Especially around Edward. [[spoiler:She calms down once he gives up on his grandfather's project.]]
** Also, once her HP reaches critical in battle, she visibly starts to lose her cool and breaks down when her HP reaches zero.
** [[spoiler:Demeter's death, ''[[TakingTheBullet by her own hands no less]]'', does an emotional number on her.]]
* RazorWind: Her Shadow Wind is basically her making lightning-fast slices against a general area in front of her, causing two cuts to go through her targets, and then she launches a cyclone forward to finish her attack.
* TheReliableOne: Despite externally acting as a MysteriousStranger, she's the exact first person that Zelos outright trusts and even offers help to in exchange for her letting him in the know of the Human Genomes, making her opposite to [[MysteriousStranger Duja]].
* SinisterScythe: One of the four users of this kind of weapon, but way less sinister than the other three, for sure.
* SquishyWizard: Besides Genius (Cuts 20% off AP costs of skills when her SP gauge reaches level 2) and Critical Break (50% more magic damage at SP level 3), Carla has a very high growth rate for INT, but her VIT starts already at a high cost, making her both one of these and a GlassCannon with the right weapon and gear.

-->-- Talking with Zelos about his HeroicLineage and his idea of becoming a hero

A teenager with a huge adventuring spirit, and also [[VideoGame/SpectralSoulsRessurrectionOfTheEtherealEmpires Meu and Scarface's]] offspring. Alex is incredibly rebellious and eager to become a hero, and he's able to disappear from his parents' radar (and they won't even notice it as both of them are adventurers and heroes themselves)... That is, until Liza intercepts him while chasing some Generic Genomes. ----
* AncestralWeapon: His personal weapon, the [[LegendaryWeapon Tenma[=/=]Heavenly Comet Sword]]. [[OnlyTheChosenMayWield Only the ones from his bloodline can wield it]]. The first one to use it was none other than [[TheHero Chiffon]] himself, to seal [[BigBad Janus]] back in ''VideoGame/SpectralForce1''. Then comes ''VideoGame/SpectralSouls'', half a century later, and Meu, ''his grand-daughter'', [[VideoGame/SpectralSoulsRessurrectionOfTheEtherealEmpires is seen in possession of that blade]] and uses it against [[BigBad Janus]] again. Al is just the next on the line to wield such a weapon.
* BadassFamily: His mother is [[LadyOfWar a heroine of the Seven-Years War]] hailing from a HeroicLineage with tendencies to [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu punch Cthulhus]]. His father is a FallenAngel [[DarkIsNotEvil who settled on Neverland and helped Naiz and Meu deal with the bad guys]]. Al himself has inherited their best characteristics, being a teen with supernatural strength and highly capable in combat.
* BerserkButton: Do not call him a "kid". His main drive is to prove himself among the grown-ups.
* BrattyHalfPint: Expect him to rage-fit over being called a "kid".
* CastingAShadow: His second elemental slot.
* DeathFromAbove: His [[LimitBreak Meteor Blade]], inheriting from his mother's Heavenly Blade.
* FieryRedhead: Like his mother.
* FreeRangeChildren: Ask yourself: where the hell are Meu and Scarface while Al gets involved with Zelos' team on a trip around the world and [[BigSisterInstinct Liza]] has to keep watch on him instead?
* ForgedByTheGods: Again, the Tenma Comet Sword, a blade made by the Goddess Coliea herself.
* FunPersonified: Along with Lydia, he competes for the position of most lighthearted character in this game. Extra points if he's around [[CoolBigSis Liza]].
* GenerationXerox: He's an aspiring adventurer just like Meu was.
* HalfHumanHybrid: Played straight. Scarface is a fallen angel, and Al comments to Noel about stories from his father about his wings. Al himself dreamed of being able to fly like he was once able to, but he didn't inherit enough angelic traits (Read: his father's [[WingedHumanoid wings]]).
* HeroesPreferSwords: And Al wants to be a hero.
* HeroicLineage: Al is the son of [[{{Deuteragonist}} Meu]] from ''VideoGame/SpectralSouls 1 [[Videogame/SpectralSoulsRessurrectionOfTheEtherealEmpires and 2]]'', who is herself the grand-daughter of [[VideoGame/SpectralForce1 Chiffon]]. Both of these are known for [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu handing beatings to overpowered demons]].
** Also lampshaded by Zelos before the third round with Etelo when Al gets bad vibes from Edward.
---> '''"Zelos:"''' I don't need advice from a brat like you... Then again, since you know so much about him, you're not a normal little brat.
* HeroicWannabe: Al longs to be a hero like his mother was, and will jump headfirst into danger so he can prove himself among the others, [[BigSisterInstinct much to Liza's endless horror]].
* JackOfAllStats: Just like Lydia, Al has an even development to his stats, and his Potential skill allows him to better bank on this.
* JumpedAtTheCall: HeroicLineage sure inspired him to go and become an adventurer and hero himself.
* KidHero: Al wants to become a hero, just like his parents.
* LegendaryWeapon: His personal weapon is the same one that was used to seal ''a demon overlord''. '''''Twice'''''.
* LightEmUp: His first elemental slot. Despite his [[LimitBreak Original Skills]] being all non-elemental, his Holy Light Edge can be implied to be of this element.
* PermanentlyMissableContent: Missed Liza? Congratulations, you screwed up your chances to get Al and Naiz. You need Liza to get Al, Al to get Naiz, and Naiz to get Shiro. That's right, characters linked to Spectral Souls 2 are all linked, it seems.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Like Bridgette, but on a physical standpoint. A fully upgraded [[InfinityPlusOneSword Tenma Comet Sword]] will bring out the maximum of his prowess and inheritance from his parents.
* SignatureMove: Two of his [[LimitBreak Original Skills]] were learned from his mother, Meu [[note]]Her [[DeathFromAbove Heavenly/Meteor Blade]] and Holy Light Edge[[/note]], and his father, Scarface [[note]]His Demonic Barrage[[/note]], and were both used by them in ''Spectral Souls 1'' and ''2''.
* TagalongKid: In a lesser degree than Noel, Al is way more courageous and willing to fight, and manages to squeeze himself into Zelos' team after being intercepted by [[CoolBigSis Liza]], much to ''her'' horror.
* UpbringingMakesTheHero: Al is the child of two heroes from the Seven-Years' War. And he surely wants to become as powerful and able as they were back then.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Al will NEVER miss a chance to [[BerserkButton speak about]] [[OlderThanTheyLook Liza's age]]. Liza will accordingly threaten him over this, every time. Liza actually deduces that Al does this because he wants to hog her attention for himself, after jokingly inviting him to a BathtubBonding.
* YinYangBomb: The end result of being from a HeroicLineage and child to a FallenAngel, as well as his skills and element slots, imply that he's able to manipulate both light and dark.

[[caption-width-right:350:''"Once again, a new battle begins..."'']]

-> ''"As the world changes, humans can change too... Just as I have changed."''
-->-- Blurting his opinion of humanity to Jadore

An [[TrappedInAnotherWorld Alien Soul]] just like Snow, Naiz (True name Akira Rikudou) is a veteran above veterans. The protagonist of the ''[[VideoGame/SpectralSouls1 Spectral Souls]]'' [[VideoGame/SpectralSoulsRessurrectionOfTheEtherealEmpires duology]] is now a RetiredBadass, twenty years later. He's been making a living of [[BadassTeacher teaching young people]] [[MasterSwordsman his swordskills]] in Varanoir, that is, until Meu comes to him and asks him to go search for her son, Al. Naiz manages to catch up with him and Liza amidst a fight between Zelos and one of the Genomes. He decides to help Liza keep an eye on Al and sticks along, feeling dragged into the tornado once again.
----
* AntiHero: Back in ''Spectral Souls 1'', Naiz had his stint at this, and like Snow, he came close to JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope. Naiz admits as much to Snow when they first meet. Unlike Snow, however, Naiz had plenty of time to atone for his misgivings. He's actually seen as a hero in Varanoir because of his exploits in the Seven-Years War.
* TheAtoner: Naiz has gone through the whole process and past that. ''Spectral Souls II'' was basically Naiz fighting to compensate for his misgivings in the first game.
* BadassTeacher: What he has become after the Seven-Years War.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Naiz may be polite and quite peaceful, but make no mistakes; the man is ''dangerous''. Are you a bad guy by any chance? He'll charge headfirst into making shish-kebab out of you.
* CriticalStatusBuff: Alien Soul, just like Snow. Naiz, being a physical fighter, takes maximum profit off of this, [[LetsGetDangerous and it can be combined with his Awakening Original Skill]].
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: This is the man that '''''killed a freaking god''''' and then proceeded to help his friend seal a demon overlord for the second time, years later. Naiz surely ''does not fuck around''.
* FeelingTheirAge: Naiz isn't exactly on his prime anymore by the time ''Blazing Souls'' takes place. He's still pure badass, however.
* FormerTeenRebel: The "teen rebel" part was pretty much seen in the first ''Spectral Souls''. Now? Naiz is a very polite man willing to help wherever he can.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Basically what he is now, after developing out of his angst and becoming a hero himself.
* HeroesPreferSwords
* IaijutsuPractitioner: During his [[LimitBreak Triple Haze]], Naiz sends three impossibly fast attacks against his target.
* IChooseToStay: Naiz eventually learned to accept Neverland as his home, and for the better. According to him, he has nothing back on Earth worth coming back for.
* IconicItem: His personal weapon, the [[CoolSword Sword of Chaos]], appears with him in every game he's playable. It's also his InfinityPlusOneSword, with attack power just shy of hitting 2500, making it the third most powerful weapon in the game.
* LetsGetDangerous: [[LimitBreak Awakening]], just like Zelos' Overdrive, makes Naiz [[PersonOfMassDestruction a monstrous powerhouse for three turns]]. Can be combo'd with [[CriticalStatusBuff Alien Soul]] for extra monstrosity.
* MasterSwordsman: Naiz became a teacher of his swordsmanship in the twenty years between ''Spectral Souls 2'' and ''Blazing Souls''. It shows heavily in his fighting style in both games.
* OlderAndWiser: ''Definitely'' is this in ''Blazing Souls''.
* PassingTheTorch: Technically, to Zelos, as Naiz retired from the bulk of the action after the Seven-Years War, and now he lets Zelos lead the team around.
* PermanentlyMissableContent: You won't get Naiz into your team if you failed to get Liza or Al, or you didn't stall enough on your third fight with Etelo.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Be fully sure that Naiz, being an Alien Soul, is this. However, the summoning ritual that brought him to Neverland was incomplete, and he doesn't have the full powers of an Alien Soul. Meaning that, unlike [[Really700YearsOld Snow]], he still ages like a normal person, and this game shows with perfect precision how the passing of time affected Naiz, [[FeelingTheirAge now nearing his fifties]].
* PlayingWithFire: His main element.
* RetiredBadass: After sending Mugen to the afterlife and sealing Janus with Meu's help, Naiz settled into becoming a swordsmanship teacher in Varanoir. [[TenMinuteRetirement That is, until Meu asks Naiz to check on Al...]]
* SignatureMove: All of his [[LimitBreak Original Skills]]: Triple Haze, Aura Blade and Genesis Drive.
* SuperMode: [[LimitBreak Awakening]]. Just like Zelos' Overdrive, it gives Naiz a huge deal of power.
* TenMinuteRetirement: Nearing his fifties, Naiz didn't expect that he would have to get into action ''a third time''.
* TrappedInAnotherWorld: Just like Snow. And also just like her, he hated it at first and then came to embrace Neverland as his new home.
* TrueCompanions: Naiz has a list of them, actually. To list the most prominent ones:
** Gail, the mercenary who first helped him when he was summoned into Neverland.
** Max, which eventually became his BestFriend.
** Meu, a girl who also became a good friend of his, to the point she actually entrusts her son Al's care to him.
** Scarface, a FallenAngel who would eventually stick with Meu as her boyfriend and later husband.
** Shiro, [[Really700YearsOld an old wizard]] [[ForcedTransformation turned Chickapede]] who tends to get in trouble, but is a tough old guy nevertheless.
** Liza, a vampire girl on the Rozess side of the Seven-Years War which Max befriended.
* WalkingTheEarth: Had a shot at this when he became TheAtoner.

-->-- During Naiz's banter with Zelos [[spoiler:before the Randeroll Labs raid]], referring to [[Really700YearsOld his own age]]

Don't get fooled by this appearance; this white Chickapede has been around ''since the times of the first Spectral Force and even before that''. Shiro was once a powerful sage, and a hero in his time, charged with the duty of monitoring a seal he put on a great demon. For this, he's granted the power of immortality through reincarnation. Over the ages, Shiro assisted many other heroes, [[VideoGame/SpectralForce Chiffon]] and [[VideoGame/SpectralSouls Naiz]] included, but grew world-weary and, consequently, very befitting of the DirtyOldMan [[ForcedTransformation stuck in a Chickapede's body]] that he actually is right now.

An old pervert prone to throwing temper tantrums, he spent the last twenty years living with Naiz in Varanoir, occasionally running away to the same place Naiz met him every time something doesn't go his way. This time isn't different either, where Zelos follows a rumor of his whereabouts under Naiz's advice. Naiz believes Shiro can be an important asset in the Human Genomes case, and asks for his help in dealing with the situation.
----
* ActionPet: Well, he ''is'' treated as Naiz's pet.
* AnimalChickMagnet: And make no mistake, Shiro ''takes massive advantage of this trope''.
* AnimalStampede: His Summon Chickapede [[LimitBreak Original Skill]] has him commanding an army of Chickapede to [[ZergRush trample his targets]].
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: [[spoiler:Shiro seems to know ''perfectly'' about Zelos' connection with Dr. Anslow.]]
-->-- [[spoiler:'''Shiro, to Naiz:''' While he isn't exactly an Alien Soul, he does have a measure of that power within him. [[PersonOfMassDestruction Should he lose control of it, the world would be annihilated]]. However, that power is neither good not evil. It just... is. It could just as easily bring about peace and prosperity. Just like you did way back then.]]
* DeathIsASlapOnTheWrist: To Shiro, it ''is''. He's totally aware that if he dies, he'll just be reincarnated again. Even his death speech has him show no concern for the issue; he instead uses it to berate his opponent:
--> '''Shiro:''' Hey there! Have some respect for this ol' buggy!
* DirtyOldMan: God, is he a pervert. He will not waste any time into pretending he's a cute animal just so he gets a free chance to grope a woman's breasts.
* ForcedTransformation: The end result of his cycle of reincarnations, turning him into a white [[TheGoomba Chickapede]].
* GrumpyOldMan: Even his speech reflects this.
* HairTriggerTemper: Shiro keeps demanding respect from everyone and will lash heavily against others if not given such treatment. Naiz does his best to keep this in check, even having to ''distort Zelos' words'' in one occasion. It is of note that Zelos will take every opportunity he can to ''[[ItAmusedMe piss Shiro off]]''.
* KillerRabbit: Shiro is as dangerous as he is ''cute'', and that says something.
* KungFuWizard: Shiro is a powerful mage who happens to have gauntlets as his set weapon and physical attack slots to go with it. Not great for what he's supposed to act like, unless you get his personal weapon...
* LightningBruiser: Shiro is incredibly fast and can dish just as much damage, be it physical or magical...
** GlassCannon: ...But as with any other wizard, he won't take well to physical damage, and unlike Kaye or [[spoiler:Hermes]], he has no means to consistently dodge it.
* MagikarpPower: Shiro's abilities are not much to write home about... Unless you hold him on the first class until you hit level 52, where his last Potential becomes Genius, and he gets Resolve along the way. This basically makes him a powerhouse that can quickly buff himself into [=SP3=] and become a menace both physically and magically.
* MarshmallowHell: Gets a good one from Fairuza in front of Liza and Al... And actually ''likes it''. Hell, ''Fairuza herself'' doesn't care, even as Liza outright states he's actually an old man.
--> '''Shiro:''' I-I'm in considerable pain, but I have ''nary a regret''.
--> '''Al:''' Don't you think you should ask her to stop?
--> '''Liza:''' [[DirtyOldMan I think it's a little too late for that now]].
--> '''Al:''' [[DeadpanSnarker I thought as much]].
--> '''Liza:''' That sleazy little cockroach feigning innocence...?
--> '''Shiro:''' *''Still'' planted onto Fairuza's chest* Woohoo! So this is what Heaven is like!
--> '''Al:''' Seriously, that old man is beyond help.
* MeaningfulName: Shiro means "white" in Japanese. Guess which color his body is.
* MegaManning: Due to his Monster slots, he's the usual choice to wield any monster skill rather than just Capture. Normally he's paired with abilities to stop enemy action, due to not being exactly resisted ''even by whoever possesses Total Resistance''.
* NonHumanSidekick: Played this to ''many'' heroes over the course of his long, ''long'' life.
* PermanentlyMissableContent: Shiro is the end of the long chain involving ''Spectral Souls'' characters that started with Liza. Luckily, this time you only have to find the place where he normally hides... The exact same place you find him in ''Spectral Souls II''.
* Really700YearsOld: We honestly can't determine how old Shiro actually is. But it's an easy ''two centuries'', much like Jadore. And Shiro [[AgeWithoutYouth surely behaves his age]].
* ScrewPolitenessImASenior: Shiro is a very rude old man, [[{{Hypocrite}} who demands respect from younger people]]. Ain't that fun.
* YinYangBomb: His personal weapon allows him to pull those Arc Rays with so much power.

In the events of the first ''Spectral Force'', Jadore isn't present per se, but it is revealed that he challenged his father Janus and ''lost''. After [[TheHero Chiffon]] and his friends brought an end to his old man, Jadore saw the opportunity to take over (in spite of his sister [[YouAreInCommandNow taking command of Janus' army]]) and decided to perform a ritual to create an Alien Soul, which resulted in [[OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent a teenager called Koyuki]] being [[TrappedInAnotherWorld dragged from Earth to Neverland]] and being granted near-godly powers by the successful ritual. Jadore promised her a way home in exchange for helping him take Neverland over, and the girl, desperate for a way out of Neverland, [[MadeASlave accepted the deal]]. Seeing Snow White's image in her, [[DeadGuyJunior Jadore named her Little Snow]], and used her [[PersonOfMassDestruction to carve a huge swathe of destruction across the world]] for the ''fourteen years'' the First Neverland War has lasted.

Things turned bitter for Jadore, however, when Snow ended up meeting his sister in an angelic ambush, and some other people involved in the war he started, [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone and had a conscience crisis]], causing her [[HeelFaceTurn to turn against him]]. Jadore ended up being [[HoistByHisOwnPetard beaten by the very "weapon" he summoned to Neverland]], but instead of being killed like Janus, he was saved; Snow actually [[StockholmSyndrome fell in love with him]] during her stint as his slave, and interviened in the event following his defeat, asking to be sealed with him. Jadore surrendered to Snow's compassion and accepted to be sealed with her, the couple entering a long slumber.

Seventy years or so later, a strange turn of events results in the awakening of Jadore and Snow and release from their seal. Jadore stays behind due to still being weakened from his seal, but Snow forged onward, eventually joining Zelos' team.
----
* AntiHero: Post-Snow changing his heart, his behavior is pretty much that. While perfectly willing to work with the good guys, he still ''revels'' in causing pain to his enemies, and his ego and sadistic tendencies haven't diminished a single bit.
* ArchEnemy: Among those on the First Neverland War, Jadore is in nearly ''everyone'''s blacklist.
** [[SiblingRivalry Hiro]] is this to him, ''big-time''. Jadore took over her father's army and left her with the remains. Hell, his last fight on the First Neverland War ''was against her, and then [[HoistByHisOwnPetard Snow]]''.
** [[KnightInShiningArmor Zakifon]], one of Hiro's "friends", may be the biggest example. Back then Jadore even sent demons to hunt him down.
** Tina from the Meimai Knights, Queen Azalea from the Elf Alliance (this one is alive to tell the story), and Grieza of the Knights of Shinileeg all have no good words to say of him.
** Bayard himself worked for him, but it doesn't look like he liked it. Liza would be surprised if she just told her father that Jadore is walking on Neverland again.
** [[spoiler:Gustavinus]] became this the moment [[CurbStompBattle he beat Jadore to a pulp]].
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: The man is massively sure of his power and abilities, and will not take to anyone saying he's inferior.
* BadassInDistress: Gustavinus banished Jadore to Sheol and imprisoned him inside a monster; Snow tracks him down immediately and Zelos follows her shortly after, saving the guy.
* BatmanGambit: Pulls one on Zelos by [[IShallTauntYou taunting him]] into a challenge, [[SecretTestOfCharacter just so he can test his power]]. Gets a rival in the process.
* BattleCouple: With Snow. Better demonstrated in their La Delfes CombinationAttack.
* BigBad: Of ''Spectral Force 2'', and ''3'' by proxy, as he caused the war that awakened Hell Gaia.
* BigScrewedUpFamily: So, he has a huge beef with his father for disowning him ''just because his sister was born'', and then with his sister for being indirectly responsible for all his misery. The royal line of the demons is a matter of study in terms of how screwed up it is.
* BloodKnight: '''''Big time'''''. Jadore constantly ''itches'' for a decent challenge. If you prove to be too weak for his tastes? He'll ''leave you be'', just because you are NotWorthKilling.
* CastingAShadow: His main element, seen also in his [[LimitBreak Worm Whip and Geitz Sthrum]].
* CombatTentacles: His preferred method of combat, with which he tends to [[ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice run people through]]. In ''Blazing Souls'', it's even his personal weapon, and due to his weapon being so unique, he was put along with the brawlers. Also, the main theme of his first [[LimitBreak Original Skill]], Worm Whip, is him toying with his opponent using his tentacles.
** RetractableWeapon: ''Spectral Force 3'' shows us that Jadore can hide those tentacles inside his floating shoulder pads whenever he wants.
* CurbStompBattle: He gets ''badly'' on the receiving end of some of these.
** The first one was against his father Janus. The EvilOverlord sent his son packing as easily as he came. Soon after, [[TheWorfEffect Chiffon handed the Overlord's ass on a platter]].
** The second one is against Snow herself. Jadore [[DidntSeeThatComing didn't expect her to perform a]] HeelFaceTurn, much less fight him at full power. To note; Snow defeated Jadore ''in his SuperpoweredEvilSide''.
** [[spoiler:The third one when he challenges [[BigBad Gustavinus]] on his own. ''[[ControllableHelplessness And you get to control him as the leader of the Genomes hands him his ass]]'']].
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Downplayed. After recovering from his injuries, Jadore challenges Zelos to a duel. After losing, Jadore [[TheRival takes a liking]] to Zelos' BloodKnight tendencies, sealing his partnership in order to [[EnemyMine deal with Gustavinus]].
* DidntSeeThatComing: Fourteen years using Snow as a weapon, and it never crossed Jadore's head that she could [[WhatHaveIDone have a conscience crisis]] and [[HeelFaceTurn change sides]].
* DubNameChange: In all other translated media, they go by his original romaji name of Jadou. For practicality purposes, we're using the ''Blazing Souls'' translation of his name. [-At least it doesn't look as bad as "Leeza"... [[spoiler:Or "[[BlindIdiotTranslation Guistabinuus]]"]].-]
* DuelBoss: The final step to get him in your party involves having Zelos win his challenge against him ''[[TimedMission in ten turns]]''.
* EnemyMine: His reason to join Zelos' bunch of misfits [[spoiler:is because he wants to get even on Gustavinus, and Zelos is already interested in chasing that guy]].
* EnemyWithout: [[spoiler:As soon as Jadore touches the Akashic Records at the Spectral Tower, a manifestation of his SuperpoweredEvilSide representing everything bad in him comes to fight him and Snow as a PostFinalBoss.]]
* EstablishingCharacterMoment:
** For his villanious time, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ep-L8DYBDpE the opening minutes]] of ''Spectral Force 3'', where he [[ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice literally runs through]] an entire army with his CombatTentacles, SlasherSmile included.
** For his AntiHero persona, his challenge to [[spoiler:[[BigBad Gustavinus]]]], even if [[CurbStompBattle he got beaten around]] [[TheWorfEffect like a ragdoll]].
* EvilerThanThou: Jadore considered himself superior to his father, to the point he ''challenged him'' before the First Neverland War. [[CurbStompBattle It went as well as you'd expect]].
* ExBigBad: Almost a century later, Jadore is far less destructive than he was at the First Neverland War, thanks to Snow.
%%* {{Expy}}: Look all over his profile. Son of a powerful overlord of a race that bases themselves on pride and BloodKnight attitude. Powerful as hell and ''[[SmugSuper incredibly smug]] [[ArrogantKungFuGuy about it]]'', [[BigBad formerly evil]] person [[HeelFaceTurn who turned good]] [[LoveRedeems upon falling in love with a human]] he considered inferior to a worm... He even has TrashTalk moments dedicated to anyone he meets and a history on the receiving side of CurbStompBattle. Are you sure we are not describing [[Franchise/DragonBall Vegeta]]?
* FateWorseThanDeath: [[spoiler:Gustavinus thought killing Jadore wouldn't be fun... So he decided to banish him to Sheol, where he is imprisoned in the innards of a Double-X.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: ''For a good reason''. Jadore tried to destroy Neverland eighty years ago, and it's expected that him being around again is bad news, unlike what's thought of Snow by the party. Adelle and the others are quick to ask Naiz to act as a mediator and question Jadore on his intentions as soon as he enters the party.
* HeelFaceTurn: Thank Snow and her love for Jadore for that, because the guy was full-on genocidal before that.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: The very weapon he made to destroy mankind is the one that not only brought him to his knees, but ''[[LoveRedeems convinced him to stop his plans]]''.
* HumansAreBastards: Having the one person that truly cared for him [[BurnTheWitch burned at the stake]] caused Jadore to get his ideals slammed through the cynical end of the scale and declare that mankind isn't worthy of living in Neverland. It took Snow caring for him to make him relent, but he's still distrusting of mankind.
* AnIcePerson: One of his main elements, seen also on his second Original Skill, Chaos Ice.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice:
** His modus operandi when playing with his CombatTentacles. His [[LimitBreak Worm Whip]] gives a demonstration of that.
** Hell, he puts up a big show ''at the opening minutes of Spectral Force 3'' while slaughtering a whole army on his own.
* IShallTauntYou:
** Just ask [[spoiler:Gustavinus]] about his ego.
---> '''Jadore:''' I find this amusing, especially coming from [[spoiler:Mugen's plaything]].
** This is also how he pulls a BatmanGambit on Zelos so he can challenge him [[SecretTestOfCharacter and have his power tested]].
%%* {{Jerkass}}: Of the highest magnitude.
%%* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Snow manages to bring the best out of him, however.
* LoveRedeems: If Jadore is anything close to a good person now, it's because Snow convinced his sister to spare his life.
* MadeOfEvil: ''Literally'', he's Janus' hatred and rage made lifeform.
* ManipulativeBastard: Need any more proof of this than the fact this guy pulled a helpless teenage student [[TrappedInAnotherWorld from her home world to his]] and promised her a way home should she use [[PersonOfMassDestruction her newfound absurd powers]] to wipe his world clean of Mankind and his sister?
* NotSoDifferentRemark: Jadore compares her story to his.
--> '''Jadore:''' Ah, sweet, delicious irony. It's very strange, actually. In spite of similar upbringings, some [[StartOfDarkness were driven by hatred to destroy everything around them]], while others such as her let go of her hate and chose to rule.
* NotWorthKilling: If someone turns to be so weak that [[CurbStompBattle it doesn't even pose half a challenge to Jadore]], he'll just move on with his life and let the poor thing go.
* ThePowerOfHate: Jadore is ''literally born and made of this''. No, really. Janus' own rage and hatred are the very stuff Jadore is made of. No wonder [[spoiler:Gustavinus]] says he can ''hardly be called a living being''.
* Really700YearsOld: Jadore is OLD. Hell, purebred demons like him actually have ''a very slow childhood''. He's stated to have ''centuries'' of age under his life.
* TheRival: To Zelos after the latter challenges him to a duel.
* SecretTestOfCharacter: Pushes Zelos into one by doing his usual act in order to earn a challenge and measure his ability with the Elemental Cores.
* SiblingRivalry: Has a very bitter one with Hiro, as her birth made Janus prefer her over his firstborn. It got worse after she caused Snow to [[TheDogBitesBack turn against him]] [[HoistByHisOwnPetard in the First Neverland War]]. Liza suggests him to reconcile with her.
* SignatureMove: Like Snow, Jadore borrows some of his arsenal from ''Spectral Force 2''.
** [[AnIcePerson Chaos Ice]], where he encases his target in razor-like ice shards.
** [[CastingAShadow Geitz Sthrum]], one of his favorite attacks using the souls of the damned to blast a general area.
** Scream of Sheol, his best move (and just as devastating as Snow's Excelan Theta on ''Blazing Souls'').
* SlasherSmile: Any time he starts enjoying his shenanigans with the enemy, he'll gleefully sport one of these.
* SmugSuper: Jadore is ''proud'' of all that power he has, and he's not afraid of showing it to you.
* SuperMode: Seen in ''Spectral Force 2/3'' and ''Spectral Vs Generation'', easily identified by his skin going blue, [[PowerMakesYourHairGrow his hair growing to near his ankles]] and [[ClothingDamage his clothes being]] [[WalkingShirtlessScene ripped off]]. [[spoiler:[[PostFinalBoss You get to fight that form]], using only Snow and [[EnemyWithout Jadore]].]]
* TheUnfavorite: Enough that Janus threw him out of his home as soon as Hiro was born. ''[[StartOfDarkness Bad idea]]''.
* UngratefulBastard: [[spoiler:He won't ''ever'' admit that Zelos had a role in saving his ass on Sheol Cavern.]]
* WalkingShirtlessScene: He's RIPPED under his clothes, and his SuperpoweredEvilSide tears the upper part of it off, allowing you to see it.
* WalkingSpoiler: For anyone who wants to play ''Spectral Force 2'' and ''3'', due to NoExportForYou on the former and the rarity of the latter. Half of his backstory is only unmarked here because of his relation to Snow. Hell, even his ''Blazing Souls'' profile goes out of the way to tell his story to you.
* WhamEpisode: The point this guy starts having an active role in ''Blazing Souls''. You get a clear shot of the BigBad himself, [[spoiler:[[TheWorfEffect and he gets to mop the floor with Jadore]]]]. Also, his involvement in the plot gives Zelos' team the InternalReveal that Snow is in fact the "Little Snow" from the First Neverland War. Up until that point, only Nguyen, Naiz and Edward were fully aware of her status... And probably Isaac too, but you never see him approaching her on that matter.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Check his backstory and you'll know how bad this was for him. [[HumansAreBastards Hiro]] and [[ViolenceIsTheOnlyOption Roze]] in comparison to Jadore are ''very mild cases''.
* TheWorfEffect: Jadore isn't just any demon, being [[EvilOverlord Janus']] son. Now imagine the fact that [[spoiler:[[BigBad Gustavinus]] managed to [[CurbStompBattle manhandle this guy around like he was nothing]]]].

-> ''"I want to enhance my powers to control others so I can [[PunctuatedForEmphasis kill. Everyone. Now!]]"''
-->-- Zelena's drive for working with the bad guys

One of the Human Genomes, a Succubus-like girl who takes massive fun in [[BrainwashedAndCrazy enthralling people and sending them against each other]]. Unlike the others, however, she doesn't give a damn for their goals, and is indiferent to Duja's actions. She has a stark interest in [[GuardianAngel Isaac]].
----
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: She's treated like shit by the other Genomes because of her looks. [[spoiler:Then comes Isaac, who [[YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre sees her for more than that]], and she feels [[TheDogBitesBack prompted to turn traitor to Gustavinus]].]]
* AxCrazy: Expect her to go for your head at any given moment. Also, expect her to hypnotize you and pit you against whatever she wants you to fight.
* BecauseImGoodAtIt: Her reason for working for the bad guys.
* BlowingARaspberry: Her usual, childish taunt to anyone when she gets into a fight.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: She has a tendency of inflicting that into a group of people and monsters. It does have a limit, though, hence why she's still helping her Genome peers search for Elemental Cores.
* CastingAShadow: Her main element, as of her second elemental slot, as well as all of her [[LimitBreak Original Skills]].
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Purple hair and eyes.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: [[spoiler:In the original Platform/PS2 version it wasn't like that, as she never joins the team there: You need to capture her Doppelganger... Which isn't an easy task, as they are this game's equivalent of [[SuperBoss Superbosses]].]]
* DirtyCoward: She's rather lazy and prefers to make whatever poor soul enthralled by her do her job. Bring down whatever mooks she has with her, and she'll be begging for clemency. [[spoiler:After she starts tagging with Zelos, she ends up becoming a LovableCoward instead.]]
* TheDogBitesBack: [[spoiler:For all the treatment Gustavinus and his cohorts give her, Isaac managed to make this backfire by showing her [[YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre she's better than what people think of her]].]]
* DressedLikeADominatrix: Zelena's {{stripperiffic}} black clothes makes her resemble a [[SuccubiAndIncubi Succubus]], and her quotes are all about turning others into slaves.
* FemaleAngelMaleDemon: Inverted. Isaac is a male angel, Zelena is a demon-like female Human Genome.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:After Zelena takes too many defeats, Isaac takes her in. Zelena realizes that, by obeying Isaac, she can stay by his side. She's actually fond of the idea and [[DefectorFromDecadence instantly ditches her allegiance to the Genomes]].]]
* LightningBruiser: Downplayed. Zelena is ''incredibly fast'' while dishing extra pain, physical and magical, when equipped with a good enough scythe or her personal weapon (which she ''already comes with''), making her much more versatile than Isaac could ever dream of being. Her low defenses, however, turn her into a GlassCannon.
* MoralityPet: Isaac, definitely. [[spoiler:She turns against Gustavinus because of him and only him.]]
* SinisterScythe: Emphasis on the "sinister" part. Oh, and she LOVES her personal scythe, Demon's Pain.
* ShockAndAwe: Her first elemental slot. She's also generally associated with the element, bringing Genomes of that element with her when she's fought as an enemy. [[CastingAShadow Her true element is another]].
* {{Stripperiffic}}: She has it worse than Sciorra and Fairuza, ''probably combined'', honestly. But it fits her Succubus-like demeanor.
* VillainessesWantHeroes: Zelena had an interest on Isaac from the moment she first met him, [[spoiler:which becomes the motivator for her to turn on the bad guys]].
* WingedHumanoid: Your Succubus variant, bat-like wings. She can fly fine with them and, like Isaac, she doesn't need to give a fuck for terrain elevation.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: Isaac thinks this of her. [[spoiler:This is how he wins her to his side.]]

-> "Have you not seen the truth of this world yet? The world is on the brink of destruction. Nothing can stop that. And the cause is [[HumansAreBastards the actions of the foolish and the self-centered]]... There is no other alternative."
-->-- His MotiveRant, delivered to Snow of all people

Like Carla, Edward is another of the Original Saints, responsible for the element of [[BlowYouAway Wind]]. He's a WellIntentionedExtremist in the most direct manner, dedicating his life to finish his grandfather's research on [[ArtificialHuman Human Genomes]]. Over the course of the years (as well as the Seven Years War he witnessed when young), Edward grew [[HumansAreTheRealMonsters disillusioned with mankind]], to the point he actually wants to help the other Genomes enact their [[KillAndReplace plan to supplant mankind]], despite being in no association with them. His research has led him to [[BlankSlate Hermes]], a girl he found in an abandoned laboratory, which he managed to bring to life, and whose he treats as his own daughter.
----
* EleventhHourRanger: In the GoldenEnding path. [[spoiler:After fighting Zelos for the third time and nearly dying for his efforts, Edward sees the errors of his ways and joins Zelos' team to atone for his crimes. Hermes, who sees Edward as her only family, joins the team as well.]]
* AmazonChaser: It's hinted Edward has feelings for Carla, but refuses to let it show to avoid having it hampering his research.
* TheAtoner: [[spoiler:Edward's stint with Zelos is to compensate for his bad actions through the story.]]
* AwesomenessByAnalysis:
** He ''instantly'' figures out that Snow is the same Little Snow from the First Neverland War when she comes to ask him questions on Hermes. He also remarks that Snow ''isn't as {{Omniscient}} as she thought she is''.
** By fighting Zelos multiple times, he correctly deduces that [[spoiler:[[ArtificialHuman Zelos is not human]], but leaves him out of the loop for a while longer]].
* BadassLongcoat: Which makes him look like [[VideoGame/CastlevaniaSymphonyOfTheNight Alucard]], no less.
* BerserkButton: Snow accidentally triggers his: [[WhatMeasureIsANonHuman treating Hermes as if she was not a real person]].
* BlowYouAway: His main theme and element. His [[LimitBreak Original Skills]] do show it in that regard.
* CreatingLifeIsBad: Edward [[WellIntentionedExtremist believes]] the Human Genomes are the solution for Neverland's biggest problem: [[HumansAreBastards warmongering humans]]. With his father's research, he managed to bring Hermes to life, a feat to which Carla and Snow disagree, to varying degrees. To top it off, ''[[OnlySaneMan Demeter]]'' also doesn't agree with Edward's methodology, and would rather having him stop his research than JumpOffTheSlipperySlope.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: [[spoiler:It takes three or four fights until Edward finally gives up on his plan to help the Genomes [[KillAllHumans eradicate mankind]] and decides to go with Carla's idea.]]
* {{Determinator}}: Edward will stop at nothing to continue his grandfather's research and fulfill the Genomes' plan. [[OnlySaneMan Demeter]] is desperate to actually convince him to stop.
* EnemyMine: The first time you get to fight him has him offering help to Etelo, which Zelos was chasing. Subverted in that Edward dismiss Etelo as weak as soon as Zelos is finished with him [[spoiler:(as in "as soon as Zelos gets Etelo killed")]] [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere and just gets out]] with so much as telling Carla that he will not stop his plans for nothing.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:After finally understanding the purpose of the Human Genomes and realizing [[HeelRealization he was being no better than the humans he despised]], Edward decides to side with Zelos against Gustavinus.]]
* HeelRealization: [[spoiler:Seeing Hermes' constant power growth made Edward finally start questioning his own research, leading him to head to Randeroll Labs to understand Hermes' conception.]]
* HumansAreTheRealMonsters: Edward grew tired of watching constant conflicts going on in both man and demonkind. This has led him to actively try to help the bad guys. [[spoiler:He relents when he realizes the Genomes aren't any better.]]
* KnightTemplar: Everything Edward does is because he believes it's for the greater good of Neverland. Not its people, but the planet itself. Snow severely disagrees with that and states that [[KillAllHumans whatever Edward is doing]] in helping the Genomes with their [=Class3A=] is incredibly unnecessary.
* MagicKnight: One of only two swordsmen in the game whose stats slide into magic rather than going physical. His personal weapon, Sthrum Ride, helps him with this.
* MasterSwordsman: Edward's taste for swords do show in his skills.
* MotiveRant: Gives one to ''Snow'', as shown above. Snow herself isn't impressed by this.
* MoralityChain: The only thing stopping him from being just as bad as [[spoiler:Gustavinus']] Genomes is his respect for Carla and Demeter and his love for Hermes. [[spoiler:He gets better from this.]]
* MoralityPet: Hermes, to the point he'll go ''ballistic'' if any harm is done to her.
* PapaWolf: He'll go in for the kill if something bad happens to Hermes.
* PermanentlyMissableContent: [[spoiler:Edward and Hermes are this if you don't manage to [[GuideDangIt do everything right]] in order to put the game well on the trail to the GoldenEnding. In fact, Edward and Hermes are the last ones to join your team.]]

* WellIntentionedExtremist: He believes man and demonkind will destroy Neverland if they continue existing, so his countermeasure for this is helping the Genomes in replacing them.
* WhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:Four fights with Zelos' party in, Edward finally lets Carla's words sink into his mind, and also starts realizing Hermes' constant power growth. One of the [[ArtificialHuman Human Genomes]], made by Edward. Unlike the others, however, she didn't receive an Alien Soul to complete her creation, rather being ''[[SoullessShell reanimated from a dead body found in the Randeroll Labs]]'', resulting in her being a person-shaped BlankSlate and an EmotionlessGirl. Edward took a big liking to his own creation, to the point he developed a PapaWolf instinct for her. Hermes will follow Edward and Demeter wherever they go.
----
* EleventhHourRanger: If you did everything right, Hermes will join Zelos team alongside Edward.
* ArtificialHuman: Well, it's the story of her life.
* BareFistedMonk: Of all brawlers in the game, Hermes is the only one who actually fights with ''no weapons at all''; Lydia and Vaughn rely on metal gloves and boots; [[ForcedTransformation Shiro]] attacks with scratches and has a metal guard for his front paws; Jadore likes using CombatTentacles.
* BlankSlate: Her incomplete creation made her come to Neverland as a blank doll who [[EmptyShell doesn't do much other than eat and walk]]. She starts evolving as she travels with Edward [[spoiler:and later with Zelos]].
* CreepyMonotone: Not even on her death speech you will listen to her raising any emotion on her voice.
* CriticalStatusBuff: Despite not being an Alien Soul herself, she benefits from its ability just like Snow and Naiz, making her a dangerous fighter when cornered.
* EmotionlessGirl: Due to not being a completed Genome, as she has to learn everything from scratch. She evolves out of this as she walks around with Edward [[spoiler:and Zelos]].
* EmptyShell: At first, as she has to learn what emotions are.
* FragileSpeedster: Hermes abilities and skills are tailored to make her able to hit hard while running circles around her opponents. However, she is sensible to damage should she ever get hit. Her [[CriticalStatusBuff Alien Soul]] Potential helps mitigate things a bit.
* GenderBlenderName: You didn't expect a ''girl'' to be called Hermes, did you?
* GoodOldFisticuffs: The most agile fighter of this type.
* HappilyAdopted: [[spoiler:By Edward and Carla.]]
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:Along with [[TheAtoner Edward]], as she will follow him wherever he goes.]]
* LetsGetDangerous: [[LimitBreak Oversoul]], another variation of Zelos' Overdrive and Naiz's Awakening, increasing her attack power by 50%. Bonus points for her ''being a little girl and thus completely unassumed to be '''that''' dangerous''.
* LittleMissBadass: She's only a kid... That has powers nearly on equal with [[PersonOfMassDestruction Zelos]], can run ''circles'' around her opponents and hits like a truck with nothing but punches and kicks.
* MoralityPet: She is one to Edward, and it goes both ways. She also doubles as MoralityChain for Edward.
* PermanentlyMissableContent:

** [[spoiler:Like Zelena, in the Platform/Playstation2 version, you need to capture her Doppelganger to have any access to her. Good thing Idea Factory decided to have a little pity on you and just allow you to get her when you activate the GoldenEnding.]]
* PowerOfTheVoid: Her entire schtick and elemental slots are around the Void element. All of her [[LimitBreak Original Skills]] are of that element, too.
* RecurringBoss: She and Edward are fought ''four times'' over the course of the game. Not even Bridgette and her posse manages that number alongside them.
* SoullessShell: Literally. [[spoiler:Her body was created by the weaponized Dena, but it didn't receive a soul and thus was discarded. Edward found the body and reanimated it through his own study of Human Genomes.]]
* TheStoic: Resulted from being an EmotionlessGirl.
* SuddenlyVoiced: Hermes is mute for most of the story. [[spoiler:When Demeter dies, she asks about him and realizes he's dead... [[WhatHaveIDone to Edward's utter shock]].]]
* SuperMode: Her [[LimitBreak Oversoul]], sort of like Zelos' Overdrive.
* ThirdPersonPerson: She will refer to herself like that 99% of the time.
* ToxicFriendInfluence: She can be easily molded by anyone. [[spoiler:And Zelos is no exception to that, as she starts mimicking him.]]
* UndyingLoyalty: Hermes will ''not'' leave Edward's side, no matter how dire the circumstances are.
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: After Hermes fights Zelos for the second time, Snow goes personally to confront Edward on his creation. While Snow states that [[ArtificialHuman artificial life]] shouldn't even exist (to [[WellIntentionedExtremist Edward's]] dismay), she still adds that [[FriendToAllLivingThings all life is precious]], and asks Hermes if she wants to stay with Edward, to which the little girl agrees.

!Guest Characters

These three characters were added in the ''Accelate'' update for the PSP. Unfortunately, despite having connections to a good deal of Zelos' team (Hiro, for example, is Jadore's sister, and basically the SeriesMascot for the ''Neverland'' franchise), they have no role in the story.

The star of the ''Spectral'' franchise, daughter of [[EvilOverlord Janus]] and sister to Jadore. She's heavily hinted (Despite being known to enter long slumbers during times of peace) to be still around by the time ''Blazing Souls'' takes place, but oddly has ''zero'' involvement with the whole shenanigans, even when ''her brother'' has a more central role in the mess.

* AntiHero: With Zelos, this is ''almost'' an {{Understatement}}. With Hiro, it ''is'' an understatement; she has ''no'' interest in helping humans. In fact, ''she hates the enormous majority of them''.
* ArtificialLimbs: Her iconic left arm is artificial after humans cut off her real one when she was just a child.
* CastingAShadow: Her secondary elemental affinity.
* ChallengeSeeker: If you're crazy enough to challenge the side she's on, she will gladly enter combat to see if she can get a thrill from you. In ''Spectral Force 3'', Hiro sticks to help Simba and the New Muromachi Kingdom. She intervienes in the battle as soon as she hears the attackers are the Norius Mercenaries, but leaves as soon as she realizes they aren't as strong as the hype says.
* CynicismCatalyst: Having her left arm cut off by humans caused her to develop a hatred of humans. She had to learn and overcome that problem as first [[VideoGame/SpectralForce1 her father got felled by a human]], and then ''[[VideoGame/SpectralForce2 a continent-wide war]]'' broke out over who gets to fill the gap left by him.
* DaddysGirl: She commanded her father's army without hesitation in the First Neverland War, and tried (and even ''briefly made it'', before Naiz and Meu took care of [[NiceJobBreakingItHero the problem she created]]) to ''revive him'' in the events of ''Spectral Souls II''. One can only imagine how [[SarcasmMode happy]] Jadore would be at knowing of this last one.
* DeceasedParentsAreTheBest: Holds her father Janus in very high regard, as well as her sister Prana.
* DemotedToExtra: She is one of the most prominent characters in the ''Neverland'' franchise, having appeared in every game since the first ''Spectral Force''. But she's barely mentioned in ''Blazing Souls'' aside from a random guy in a tavern when pointing you the directions to the Frozen Woods, and namedropped in a dialogue between Liza, Jadore and Snow near the end of the game.
* TheGrimReaper: This is ''exactly'' her class, and this is what her scythe does. If she doesn't collect certain souls with Gate of Heaven, they become evil revenants.
* HalfHumanHybrid: Her mother was one of the humans Janus had relationships with. It's also a reason why she identifies with Dragan in ''Spectral Force 3'' when he blurts about being a hybrid himself.
* {{Hellfire}}: Her biggest ability, and her SignatureMove.
* HumansAreBastards: A firm believer of this given her past.
* IconicItem: Her personal scythe, Gate of Heaven, a red scythe adorned with skulls at the tip of the bone-made shaft, and at the head of the blade. It was inherited from her older sister, Prana. Unlike the other games, however, in ''Blazing Souls'' it's not coded to be her personal weapon and can be equipped by anyone who can use that weapon class.
* IHaveManyNames: "[[PlayingWithFire Explosive]] [[RedRightHand Godhand]]". "Harbinger of {{Hellfire}}". "Princess of the Underworld". [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast You pick one]].
* LadyOfWar: Considering she has been [[VideoGame/SpectralForce1 involved]] [[VideoGame/SpectralForce2 with two]] [[VideoGame/SpectralSouls1 of the three]] [[VideoGame/SpectralSoulsRessurrectionOfTheEtherealEmpires biggest wars]] in Neverland, plus some other events in the ''Generation of Chaos'' series in other continents, Hiro could be considered ''the biggest Lady of War of them all''.
* PlayingWithFire: Not just fire; ''{{Hellfire}}''. Fitting of Janus' daughter.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Typical of demons.
* TheRival:
** She's a huge one to [[AnIcePerson Mayura]] in the First Neverland War.
** [[TheHero Naiz]] is this to her ''big time'' over the course of both ''Spectral Souls'' games.
* RedRightHand: An [[ArtificialLimbs artificial arm]] at that.
* SealedEvilInACan / SealedGoodInACan: Her Gate of Heaven contains the souls of both her father Janus and her sister Prana. It was done at Prana's request so they wouldn't become revenants. In ''Spectral Souls II'', Hiro tries using her scythe and the Tenma Comet Blade to revive her father.
* SiblingRivalry: Jadore still harbors a bitter one with her seventy years after the First Neverland War. Liza suggests him to reconcile.
* SignatureMove: {{Hellfire}}. There's not a single game where she's not capable of unleashing a huge ball of hellish flame upon everything in a general direction.
* SinisterScythe: Which she wields with only her right hand.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: Like her brother Jadore, she has one of those, seen in ''Spectral Vs Generation'', and fought personally in the final phases of ''Spectral Souls II''.
* TraumaticSuperpowerAwakening: How did her get her ability to control {{Hellfire}}? Simple, she had her left arm ''lopped off by humans'' as a child and this caused her to ''[[KillItWithFire incinerate them]]'' in a fit of despair.
* TrueCompanions: With [[KnightInShiningArmor Zakifon]], Chic and Sato, her bodyguards during the events of the first ''Spectral Force''.

!Roze
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/roze.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:''"It's time... to settle this!"'']]

Another mainstay in the ''Spectral'' franchise, Roze became known for her huge feat in ''Spectral Souls II'' of solving the Seven-Years War with a more peaceful resolution. Despite this, however, her reputation as a warmonger (Herself having fought in [[VideoGame/GenerationOfChaos1 the Second Neverland War]] and earned the title of Empress based on her [[ViolenceIsTheOnlyOption rather brutal conquest]]) has put her capabilities as a leader into massive question even twenty years later.
----
* AntiHero: If you managed to play at least ''Spectral Souls II'', you know she has a history with brutal battles and commanding Hiro's army, and for a time she was little better than Jadore on her motivations.
* BloodKnight: Known for being ''very brutal'' in battle and ''liking it''. This actually takes an enormous toll on her reputation as the Empress.
* CastingAShadow: Her first elemental slot.
* DemotedToExtra: Roze is known for having witnessed and won the Second Neverland War, becoming the Empress before [[VideoGame/SpectralSoulsRessurrectionOfTheEtherealEmpires the Seven-Years War]] and the end result of her peace treaty with Ankrauser. ''Spectral Force Genesis'' even shows her alive, well and dangerous, in a game that's set ''two centuries after Blazing Souls''. It's stated by Liza in a conversation with Snow and Jadore that she works for her; outside that, she doesn't get to appear in person. Big shame, as Jadore doesn't know she's his ''half-sister''.
* HalfHumanHybrid: Just like her half-sister Hiro. She's actually the youngest of Janus' children, being born not long before Chiffon killed him.
* HeroicBastard: Abandoned as a baby by [[EvilOverlord Janus]].
* HeroOfAnotherStory: The main protagonist of the first ''Generation of Chaos'' (another Neverland game that [[NoExportForYou never saw the West]]), and a central character in ''Spectral Souls II''.
* LadyOfWar: She didn't become the Empress of Neverland for nothing; she ''fought'' for it [[VideoGame/GenerationOfChaos1 in the Second Neverland War]], and she also fought [[VideoGame/SpectralSoulsRessurrectionOfTheEtherealEmpires in the Seven-Years War as well]].
* LightEmUp: Her second elemental slot.
* MagicKnight: Much like Edward, her skills and stats are fit for magic rather than physical blows.
* MirrorCharacter: To Jadore. Her upbringing is even similar to his; she was abandoned by her father, and her foster family was killed by humans (in her case, her step sister was killed by members of the Simba Army before the Second Neverland War), leading her to command the Demon Army that was once Hiro's, and dominating Neverland in a fell swoop (a feat Jadore only didn't achieve because both Hiro and ''his own weapon'' came to stop him). Curiously, the similarities diverge at this point: she did all this in order to stop the [[FantasticRacism racism against demons]] while Jadore was just an enraged WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds bent on annihilating both mankind and his father. After all of this, she also starts questioning her own methods, and her own rule is tainted with the fact that she earned it in a huge bloodshed, leading her to searching for a more peaceful solution when the Seven-Years War broke, her whole stupidity deal with Hiro goading her to revive her father notwithstanding.
* SignatureMove:
** Her second [[LimitBreak Original Skill]] is a much less overpowered version of her half-brother Jadore's Scream of Sheol.
** It says a lot that while Jadore needs Snow to perform the ultrapowerful [[CombinationAttack La Delfes]], Roze can do that move ''by herself''.
* ViolenceIsTheOnlyOption: As shown in the first ''Generation of Chaos'', this is how Roze won the Second Neverland War: by taking down every nation one by one in the most overwhelming manner possible.

A long runner through the ''Spectral Souls'' series. After the first game, Yunellia became a teacher in Varanoir, but eventually ended up dragged into the Seven-Years War. After that, she resumed her job as a teacher, and she's implied to have taught some of her skills to Adelle.
----
* TheAlcoholic: She drinks like a fish, and becomes ''dangerous'' after getting drunk.
* BadassTeacher: Since ''Spectral Souls II'', she's a teacher at Varanoir. It's heavily hinted she taught Adelle some of her arts. [[note]]In fact, Adelle's [[LimitBreak Flying Guillotine]] is derived from one of Yunellia's Original Skills.[[/note]]
* {{BFS}}: Adelle surely caught this trait from her. Yunellia has a tendency to carry hers ''hanging by chains from her neck''.
* CoolTeacher: Considered this by her whole class.
* DemotedToExtra: She's stated to still be around Varanoir in ''Blazing Souls'', and Adelle and Lydia even consider introducing Aria to her in one scene. Aside from that, there's nothing else about her at all.
* HardDrinkingPartyGirl: It's said she didn't slow down on alcohol a single bit in the twenty years after the Seven-Years War.
* HotTeacher: And it's known that she didn't lose any of that beauty twenty years later.
* PinkMeansFeminine: On her ''Spectral Souls II'' attire, this has become a predominant color of hers, along with her hair.
* StatuesqueStunner: She ''definitely'' became this in ''Spectral Souls II'', and it didn't change twenty years later if the artwork depicting her in ''Blazing Souls'' is of any indication.

-->-- Explaining her reasoning to Zelos

A BountyHunter who [[TheSlacker doesn't really care]] for the Genomes' plan to [[KillAndReplace supplant Man and Demon alike]], Sexton is more concerned with her own beauty rather than anything else. The only reason she's still working with them is because she wonders if the Elemental Cores will make her skin perfect. She has quite the interest on [[MsFanservice Fairuza]] due to her perfect skin.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: ''Very mild'', as her reddish skin can pass for a tan tone.
* AxCrazy: She'll go beyond violent if you mock her skin obsession. Just ask Fairuza and Zelos.

* ChewingTheScenery: DEFINITELY when furious.
--> '''Sexton:''' I'm going to RIP YOUR THROAT OUT AND BATHE IN YOUR BLOOD!
* ClingyJealousGirl: To the point of obsessiveness, which tends to ruin her friendships.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Making a hostage negotiation? With [[SociopathicHero ZELOS]]? No wonder he taunted her just to get her to go nuts.
* EyepatchOfPower: And given how she fights, the badass that comes with it is ''granted''.
* FashionableAsymmetry: Blends with the thematic of being of both sexes.
* FemmeFatale: Plays the part when she wants to. That is, when she's calm. [[AxCrazy When Zelos pushes her]] BerserkButton, [[ChewingTheScenery however]]...
* TheGunslinger
* {{Hermaphrodite}}: Sexton's bio states that she is a hermaphrodite, and in fact even half her body is that of a man, but she identifies herself as female.
* IAmNotPretty: Sexton isn't ugly by ''any'' standards, despite being a hermaphrodite, yet she obsesses about her own beauty.
* AnIcePerson: Her [[LimitBreak Frozen Divide]] is a good example of how she applies that.
* IGaveMyWord: When Fairuza gives her information on how to reach the Frozen Woods in Kaasha, she promises she'll return the favor. When they next meet, after they fight, Sexton lets Zelos keep the Aqueous Core for himself.
* IHaveYourWife: Tries to pull that on Zelos in regards to Fairuza so she could get his Elemental Cores. However, it's ''[[SociopathicHero Zelos]]'' we're talking about.
* IJustWantToBeBeautiful: Her sole drive behind everything she does, ''period''.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Sexton is extremely obsessive, craves for undivided affection and can get real dangerous if things don't go as she wants them to be. Even her part in the Genomes' hunt for Elemental Cores is solely motivated by her obsession with getting a perfect skin.
* MageMarksman: ''Why do all gunners in Blazing Souls have to be mages''?
* PsychoLesbian: Let's just take the implications of Sexton's interest in Fairuza and her obsession with skin complexion and imagine what she would do to the blonde elf in that hostage situation in Girvea...
* RedemptionEqualsLife: [[spoiler:Giving up on helping the Genomes actually caused Sexton to be one of only two who actually survive Zelos' hunt, the other being Zelena.]]
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: [[spoiler:After her third fight, Sexton decides following Gustavinus' orders just isn't worth it. She survives the slaughter as a result.]]

[[spoiler:She is perfectly friendly to [[DefectorFromDecadence Duja]] and is quite content that Aria has lost her memory and doesn't have to struggle with her own conflicts.]] Even her methods are light compared to the other Genomes. She doesn't take a single life over the course of the game unlike the others, and the only threats she has for doing so are under orders, while playing quite the ploy to get Zelos to hand her the Elemental Cores he has.
* SurroundedByIdiots: Even the Genomes aren't safe from her opinion on this.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Downplayed. Sexton is quite sociable and interact quite normally with anyone, and it's quite obvious she doesn't give a shit for the Genomes' plan and only cares about her shot at getting her perfect skin. However, she is prone to violent outbursts if her BerserkButton is pushed.
* TrickAndFollowPloy: Step 1: Lure Fairuza into being AloneWithThePsycho. Step 2: Tell her you will kill everyone should she not do as she's told. Step 3: Tell Zelos that [[IHaveYourWife Fairuza is your hostage]] and she'll die if he doesn't give you his Elemental Cores. Step 4: Pray that he actually does as you told him to. Now this last step is the one where her plan ''crashes, goes up in flames and explodes'', as Zelos is too much of a wild card to even care for the end results [[IShallTauntYou and will taunt Sexton]] [[EveryoneHasStandards just because she had initiated that hostage situation for starters]].
--> '''Zelos:''' You're pathetic. [[WhyDontYaJustShootHim Instead of just stealing it]], [[EveryoneHasStandards you have to threaten a little girl]], you worthless ''[[IShallTauntYou red-skinned imp]]''!

* TheBaroness: She took Vergis Kingdom for herself to rule it with an iron fist.
* BerserkButton: Even implying that she's ugly (Not that she actually is) will prompt her to unleash hell in the whole vicinity. She once skinned a maid over the course of a whole week [[DisproportionateRetribution just because she said Brumeia was "pretty"]].
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: The biggest specialist at this. Did this to Nguyen's father, and to the whole of the Vergis Army without batting an eye. She can even [[AndIMustScream control people like puppets while they are conscious]].
* CardCarryingVillain: She may be even worse than Sauber on this one.
* TheChessmaster: She likes to think she's one. Zelos thinks [[TooDumbToLive otherwise]].
* DarkIsEvil: Dresses in black and is one of the most amoral characters in the game.
* DoesNotLikeMen: Brumeia is stated to feel sick at the company of any man, preferring to be her own company.
* FemmeFatale: Even if she's lazy as fuck, when she starts to fight, she can hand you your ass if you're not savvy to her.
* FemmeFatalons: Brumelia nails are long and were sharp enough to [[FlayingAlive skin-off a maid]].
* ForTheEvulz: Her pettines and taste for people's suffering has no equal.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: ''No one of the other Genomes'' wants anything to do with her. This should tell you a lot about how bad her case is.
* FurAndLoathing: Tons of fur trimming in her clothing.
* GodSaveUsFromTheQueen: Really, there are absolutely ''no limits'' to what she does with her tyranny and pettiness over Vergis Kingdom.
* HateSink: Alongside Sauber, Brumeia is one of the worst Human Genomes, being a treacherous, murderous, sadist and cowardly woman with an inflated view of herself. [[spoiler:So much that even the friendly and laid-back Nguyen Le felt nothing when killing her in retribution for everything she did to his nation.]]
* HijackedByGanon: One of her abilities includes controlling other people like puppets. [[AndIMustScream And the worst part is that they are]] ''[[AndIMustScream aware]]'' [[AndIMustScream of what they do while under her control]].
* HoistByHerOwnPetard: Her thirst for power as a Human Genome, massive pettiness, taste for making people suffer and attempts to take Elemental Cores from Zelos led to, respectively, [[spoiler:Nguyen eventually [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge going all-out for her head]], and Zelos becoming aware of her [[EveryoneHasStandards to the point he even stops caring for the bounty put by Nguyen on her head]].]]
* AnIcePerson: Her Original Skills are ice-based.
* ItAmusedMe: She ENJOYS making people suffer, and demonstrates it best when throwing [[HijackedByGanon Orson and Archbald]] at Nguyen just so she could witness him die while having a DespairEventHorizon.
* KarmicDeath: [[spoiler:Backstabbed by Nguyen as she tried to run away from him after he and Zelos mopped the floor with her. Fitting of someone who manipulated everyone to get her way and make their lives miserable.]]
* KissOfDeath: One of her Original Skills. It inflict the Doom status.
* ManipulativeBitch: She took profit off of Vergis Kingdom's King Archbald's status as a widow to eventually enslave him and take his kingdom over.
* {{Narcissist}}: Is she ''ever''. She judges everyone inferior to her and, above all else, "ugly".
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Had Brumeia not sent Gavas to bait and kill Zelos, he would have never been aware of Brumeia's game. Or at least his hunt would have been ''very'' delayed, [[spoiler:as Nguyen was going to throw Zelos at her anyways]].
* OneHitKill: Her [[LimitBreak Deadly Embrace]] can do this to ''anything up to four squares from her''. Her Doppelganger version makes this even more lethal as the blow hits hard enough to kill ''even if the victim has Total Resistance''.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: Black clothing, red marks all over her skin, ''100% evil'' in her heart.
* RulingFamilyMassacre: She has the [[BrainwashedAndCrazy enthralled]] King Archbald of Vergis Kingdom kill his whole family so she could stand as the ruler with no opposition. [[FailedASpotCheck Fortunately]], Orson caught up to this very quickly and took the youngest prince away as fast as he could before going back to look after his enslaved king.
* TheSlacker: Do you ''really'' think she gives a single fuck for [[spoiler:Gustavinus']] ideals? Read her whole profile again.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Not as bad as Fairuza and Zelena, but a good deal of her skin is exposed.

!!Dena
->[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dena_6.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350: ''"You don't need to apologize, Duja. You did nothing wrong."'']]
[[caption-width-right:350:[[labelnote:Click here to see her as you fight her (WARNING: PROBABLY NSFW)]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dena_evil.jpg[[/labelnote]]]]

-> ''"Now, little one, it's time for you to come with me. This is your home, ''son''. This is where you belong. Look over there. They're your brothers and sisters."
-->-- Addressing to Zelos upon showing herself

An originally gentle Genome who is basically Duja's [[TheLostLenore raison d'etre]], as in ''she was made'' to be his partner. However, immediately after her and Duja were conceived, they were separated, and Dena fell into the hands of a... [[EvilutionaryBiologist human scientist]], that made some experiments to her, deviating her completely from Gustavinus' intentions for her. Her sudden disappearance and Gustavinus' involvement with the issue was what prompted Duja to rebel against the Genomes and eventually join their eventual executioner, Zelos... Which happens to be ''her offspring''.
----
* AdaptationalModesty: Some rags were put on her more "sensitive" parts in the US/EU versions of the game.
* AlmostDeadGuy: After her defeat, she has a little time to disclose information on her and Zelos' creator, and have a last talk with Duja before dying.
* AndIMustScream: It's implied the ''real'' Dena is somewhere inside ''Zelovide''. Aria can ''sense'' it.
--> '''Aria:''' I can hear ''her voice''. Screaming in silent agony, drowning in waves of never-ending sorrow...
* AxCrazy: When Duja finally meets her, she's definitely ''not'' in her best state of mind. Or even inside her own body for that matter.
* BarbieDollAnatomy: If her second image is of any proof. It was either this or risk rating issues thanks to her FullFrontalAssault, and even then the Western versions put some rags on her to cover her breasts and crotch. May actually even have been evoked, as she's an ArtificialHuman and the closest we have to Gustavinus' vision of perfection.
* BeingTorturedMakesYouEvil: In a sense that the empty shell her body has become is evil (as her soul went inside the EldritchAbomination Anslow made to absorb all the Genomes).
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: She got her mind tampered ''hard'' with by Anslow and Lindstrom at the Randeroll Labs.
* ClimaxBoss: She and Zelovide are the biggest WhamEpisode of the game just before the VeryDefinitelyFinalDungeon.
* TheDragon: Brainwashed by Anslow into being this for him. Shame he's long dead by the time Zelos finds his origins.
* DragonTheirFeet: It's not specified how Anslow died or what happened to Lindstrom, but the game pretty much confirms Zelos is quite some time late if he wants to hand a beating to his creator.
* DyingAsYourself: As soon as Duja and Zelos destroy Zelovide and stop Dena's empty shell, her soul returns to the original body and assumes her original appearance, allowing her to share one last moment with her lover. Duja does not take that well.
* FanDisservice: What her fighting form instills on you. Also, she has a... Well, let's say [[AndIMustScream that creature]] you fight along with her doesn't help matters.
* FinalBoss: She's this if you didn't fullfill all the requirements for the GoldenEnding. Degrades to ClimaxBoss otherwise, opening the path for Gustavinus at the [[TheVeryDefinitelyFinalDungeon Spectral Tower]].
* FullFrontalAssault: As a boss in her Zero Form, you fight her... Nude. That's right, the second-to-last Genome to fight you goes ''commando'' on you. The localization dealt with this by putting some rags on her.
%% * GoOutWithASmile: Dena has the solace of being able to be with Duja in her final moments.
* IncorruptiblePurePureness: Gustavinus made her to be like that, just like Aria. Except that [[BeingTorturedMakesYouEvil this got destroyed]] once she got experimented on at the Randeroll Labs.
* ItsPersonalWithTheDragon: It easily becomes this for Zelos once she appears and tells him of [[SuperPrototype his]] [[ArtificialHuman origins]]. It's like this for Duja as well, as killing Zelovide allows him to put the real Dena out of her misery.
* LetsGetDangerous: Being just as much of a DamageSpongeBoss as Zelovide, with over 850k HP, isn't enough. Dena has two {{Critical Status Buff}}s with her: Unleash Magic and ''Unleash Hell''. That's right, now you know where Zelos got all his freaking GameBreaker abilities from.
* LostInTranslation: The fact she was messed with by ''Anslow from Spectral Souls II''. [[SarcasmMode Thanks, Aksys]].
* TheLostLenore: To Duja. She's his main driving force and the reason he's sticking with Zelos.
* LukeIAmYourFather: She is technically Zelos' mother for all intents and purposes.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Anslow turned her into this, and the assortment of skills employed at her battle show as much.
* SendInTheClones: Your fight against her has you figthing ''clones of Zelos'' in both his Coreless and [[PlayingWithFire Ignis]] variants. [[EliteMook And they're SUPER tough to crack with nearly 245k HP each]], are immune to status effects, ''[[OhCrap and can perfectly replicate Zelos' Heaven's Drive]]''. The worst part? ''Her [[{{Superboss}} Doppelganger fight]] pulls the same maneuver with even tougher copies''.
* SoullessShell: Duja states the body he sees in front of him as such, and he's right. The real Dena's soul is ''trapped inside Zelovide''.
* StarCrossedLovers: With Duja. Thing is, as stated by Duja in a scene with Zelos, Genomes are made with a partner. Dena is Duja's intended partner, but for some reason they were almost immediately separated as soon as they were born.
* WalkingSpoiler: Her case is so incredibly worse than Duja's. She appears so late in the game, but when she appears, she becomes ''a nuclear WhamEpisode'', revealing Zelos' origins and a bit of other ''massively important'' stuff.
* WhamLine:
** The biggest one possible in this game, to Zelos, just as she enters the scene.
---> '''Dena:''' Welcome back, ''[[LukeIAmYourFather son]]''.
---> '''Duja:''' Dena?!!
---> '''Zelos:''' [[BigWhat WHAT IN THE HELL?!]]
** Just minutes later, as Zelos finally recalls being born as a Human Genome...
---> '''Dena:''' Everything has come back to you, hasn't it? You were born for the sole purpose of ''[[{{Squick}} becoming one]] [[AssimilationPlot with me]]''. Now it's time for you and I to merge together.

[[folder:Zelovide]]
!!Zelovide
-> ''"I am the voice of the stars. The mother of the world and the foundation of all life..."''
-->-- Introducing itself in the Bad Ending fight

A monstrous abomination created by Anslow and Lindstrom at Randeroll Labs to be the perfect life form, using Dena's powers ''and her body''. For it to be completed, it needs Zelos as well, an idea to which he understandably refuses to cooperate with.
----
* AndIMustScream: Dena's spirit is trapped within Zelovide, and ''fully conscious of what is happening''.
* AssimilationPlot: Anslow intended to use Zelovide to absorb all of the Human Genomes... Which Zelos killed along the way. [[note]]When Zelos fights Zelovide, only him, Dena, Duja, Aria, Zelena and Sexton are alive. Duja also mentions Gustavinus and a woman called Maviene.[[/note]]
* ClimaxBoss: This thing and Dena compose the biggest WhamEpisode of the game, right before the final boss himself.
* ClippedWingAngel: In the GoldenEnding fight, you fight it right before Dena herself. In between the rounds, it tries to use Dena's original appearance to fool Zelos and Duja to no avail, shifting then to Dena's Zero Form and starting the second round. Then you know that ''[[TheGlovesComeOff she stopped fucking around]]'', as her Zero Form is much more mobile and dangerous that Zelovide could ever be.
* DamageSpongeBoss: The first of those in story, with over 750k HP to back its enormous bulk.
* EldritchAbomination: A ''man-made one'', at that.
* FinalBoss: You basically can fight this creature ''anytime'' between getting the required skills to reach its arena, and the point where you're supposed to fight Dena. Doing this earns you the BadEnding, though. The normal ending will play should you not meet the requirements for the GoldenEnding and fight Dena.
* InstantDeathRadius: Being five squares from it, or in the cone area of its breath attacks without a proper strategy, is borderline suicidal. And to make things worse, it has ''three different elemental breaths'' to make sure you're not resisting its attacks.
* PoweredByAForsakenChild: Not exactly children, but ''Human Genomes''. This thing with Dena's soul alone is capable of amassing quite the nuclear power, and it wants Zelos to further enhance its potential.
* StationaryBoss: The fact that this thing does not move from its place is the only solace you will get from it.

!!Gustavinus
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gustavinus.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:''"It's time for you to experience true despair!"'']]

-> ''"Janus, the God of War... The main cause of the false peace and resulting chaos. A lowly demon masquerading as a god. And you come from him... I truly pity you. You're merely a "thing". Neither a god or demon. Not even human. Are you so desperate as to pass yourself off as a living being?"''
-->-- His first lines in the game, referring to Jadore's origins as a being born of Janus' hatred

The mastermind behind the Human Genomes' goal of replacing man and demonkind. Originally a lackey to [[PhysicalGod Mugen]], he took profit off of his death to [[DragonAscendant take over his body and powers]] and use it for his own purposes. He's a real believer of Mugen's idea of replacing Men and Demons with Genomes, but unlike Mugen, who wanted it to happen naturally, Gustavinus is more than eager to accelerate the process.
----
* ArtificialLimbs: What his left arm and right leg seem to be. He even has a Potential called Bionic Man, which gives him a power boost not unlike ''[[GameBreaker Zelos' Unleash Hell]]''.
* BigBad: One who [[OrcusOnHisThrone takes his sweet time]] before making his appearance. In the original game, he would only show his face at the very end of the game. ''Blazing Infinity'' rectifies this by adding his introduction ''[[TheWorfEffect while thrashing Jadore around]]''.
* BlindIdiotTranslation: ''Just look at his in-game name''[[note]]Aksys ''literally translated the romaji directly from the kana and left it like that''.[[/note]]. His first dialogue with Jadore also has a massively glaring one where he refers to the Demon Prince as ''Janice'''s son. Seriously.
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: To [[VideoGame/SpectralForce1 Janus]] and [[VideoGame/SpectralForce2 Jadore]], and you even happen to recruit the latter against him. To ellaborate further, Janus and Jadore both had intentions to TakeOverTheWorld while taking the humans out of the way. Gustavinus instead wants to wipe ''both man and demon alike'' from Neverland and estabilish his Human Genomes as the substitute and dominant race just to spite Mugen.
* CriticalStatusBuff: Bionic Man. What makes this buff bad for you? Simple: ''[[LetsGetDangerous it's exactly the same as Zelos' Unleash Hell]]''. This means that, when you think the fight's nearing its end, ''he will pull out all the stops''.
* DamageSpongeBoss:
** The game is ''really'' expecting you to be able to trample through long fights. His first round on the FinalBoss fight has over ''2.7 million HP'' for you to burn through. Let that sink into your mind for a while.
** His {{Superboss}} version in the PostEndGameContent tops that by far by having ''near 15 million HP''. This is only topped in the game by the Zelos doppelganger you fight alongside him, with ''just over 16 million'', and the Duja doppelganger that comes along is no slouch as well.
* DragonWithAnAgenda / DragonAscendant: It's strongly implied that he was Mugen's follower before that one was killed in the first ''Spectral Souls''. Since then, Gustavinus has taken his body (and thus his powers) and started his own brand of power play, trying to accelerate Mugen's original plans for his own purposes.
* DuelBoss: As the FinalBoss, his second round is [[InTheEndYouAreOnYourOwn just him and Zelos]], no punches pulled.
* EvilGloating: Because just giving Jadore a CurbStompBattle isn't enough; he has to gloat about it and send Jadore to [[FateWorseThanDeath be tortured in the Sheol]].
* EvilIsHammy: He ''revels'' in it.
* FailedASpotCheck: Namely, ''two'' spot checks: Aria and Duja. The former when [[DefectorFromDecadence she rebelled and decided to try and stop her boss]], and the latter when Dena disappeared and Gustavinus apparently had a hand at it, prompting him to go AWOL. Now, [[NiceJobFixingItVillain how did these two wander into Zelos' team again]]?
* AGodAmI: By using [[PhysicalGod Mugen]]'s body to fuel his own powers, Gustavinus believes he ''is'' a god and can do anything.
--> '''Gustavinus:''' After coming in possession of this power, ''I am now a god. And not a pathetic facsimile, but a god in truth''.
* GrandTheftMe: He's basically using Mugen's body and powers to make the Human Genomes and instill destruction upon Neverland.
* InTheirOwnImage: The whole deal behind his ApocalypseHow/Class3A plan with dashes of KillAndReplace: he wants to challenge and surpass Mugen with a world remade in his own image.
* LetsGetDangerous: This man lives up to his status as the one man who ''beat the everloving shit out of Jadore''. You ''better'' keep his SP gauge down. He has Critical Break, which adds to his magic arsenal and makes him a dangerous guy from afar. But this gets worse: his [[LimitBreak Original Skills]] are tailored to ''fuck with you'', with his Demon Apocalypse hitting ''everyone'' in the field while sapping them of their SP. Oh, and have we mentioned he has ''his own version of Zelos' [[CriticalStatusBuff Unleash Hell]]''?
* OrcusOnHisThrone: He spends the whole of the game in the Spectral Tower while his Human Genomes do his dirty job. Jadore calls him lazy for that.
* PhlebotinumOverdose: [[spoiler:Zelos realizes the only way to take Gustavinus down is to [[ExplosiveOverclocking supercharge himself with his Elemental Cores]] and deploy all that energy directly into the villain's body, giving him more energy than he could ever dream of handling. It works.]]
* PhysicalGod: [[AGodAmI He believes he is this]] thanks to stealing powers from a proper one. Zelos proves him wrong.
* PlayingGod: There is no other description for what his [[ArtificialHuman Human Genome]] plan is.
* TheStarscream: Nothing describes Gustavinus' act of stealing Mugen's body and using it to fuel his own powers and plans as this trope does. He was really ''biding his time'' to do so.
* ThirdEye: Another thing to add to the list of strangeness in his appearance. Also makes him look like [[Videogame/SpectralForce2 Ludora]].
* TrueFinalBoss: If you are going to fight him, congratulations, you have reached the GoldenEnding of this game and should pat yourself on the back for the feat.
* VillainBall: This guy just doesn't know how to get rid of his enemies.
** Because sending Jadore to suffer a FateWorseThanDeath is so much more fun than, you know, [[WhyDontYaJustShootHim just killing him]]. [[NiceJobFixingItVillain It never occurred to him that Snow was around and would sense he was in danger, and this also gave Zelos the identity of the Human Genomes' leader, to top the whole deal]].
** This is not to mention he beat Aria to the ground and left her for dead when she confronted him about his methods and motives. Zelos found her, and eventually, used her abilities to ''track Gustavinus down on the Spectral Tower''.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Considers himself as such, much in the same vein as Edward, but with ''much more ego'' involved. This is a façade, however; he's obviously in it to challenge Mugen and nothing else.
