[[folder:[=MEGAtainment=] Staff]]
!!J[[spoiler:ay]] Thomas Blackwell
* AuthorAvatar: Started as this, but gradually developed his own identity.
* TheChessmaster: Styles himself as one... even though his plans [[SmallNameBigEgo focus around the employees of a department store.]]
* DespairEventHorizon: In his backstory, he apparently went through one after being dumped by his (now ex-) girlfriend.
* DeadpanSnarker: Has a sharp wit.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: Although he's quick to talk up his social skills (particularly his manipulative tendencies), anything related to his artistic skills is quickly dismissed. Others frequently disagree; his ex even strongly suggests that he could be making a living on his writing and/or art if he pursued it.
* ManBehindTheMan: Has deliberately taken this role to every manager, in part to protect the other employees from the manager's incompetence, and in part because [[BrilliantButLazy he's too lazy to take on the responsibility himself.]]
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: Downplayed with him and Carol, but his general demeanor is very sullen, pessimistic, and passive. Several characters, whether or not they know she and Thomas are dating, state that Carol's more aggressive and tenacious personality are a perfect complement to his - and he himself considers Carol's cautious optimism to be one of the few things that can make him feel hope.
* TheSmartGuy: Smarter than his position or demeanor would suggest.
* StealthMentor: In addition to his ManBehindTheMan shtick, he's also acting as one of these towards Mike in terms of making him a more competent manager. He also acts as this towards much of the rest of the store.
* WorkingWithTheEx: His ex-girlfriend comes to [=MEGAtaiment=] to advertise her new book. Thomas spends the day in a barely-concealed rage.

!!Carol[[spoiler:ina Abigail]] Graves
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/carol_graves_29.png]]
[[caption-width-right:200:[[EvenTheGirlsWantHer You are now]] [[WorldsMostBeautifulWoman in]] [[RealWomenHaveCurves love with]] [[BigBeautifulWoman Carol Graves]].]]
* BigBeautifulWoman: Carol is noticeably chubby, but her weight makes her no less attractive. In one strip, she was getting free drinks in college, when she stated she was "well on [her] way to being two people", and described her current and usual build as "one point five".
* BoyishShortHair: It used to be much longer, but Nina cut it to it's more familiar length while the two were rooming together, around the time Carol first joined the [=MEGATainment=] staff.
* BreakoutCharacter: She's very popular with the fandom.
* DeadpanSnarker: Nearly every word that comes out of her mouth has some level of snarkiness.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: She's the one that Brooksie [[http://betweenfailures.com/comics1/1021-updating is the deepest in love with]].
* FieryRedhead: Is feared around the store due to her temper.
* MamaBear: She chides the other employees, and can even get mad at them, but don't you dare abuse her coworkers/underlings on ''her'' watch.
* SignificantGreenEyedRedhead
* TheSlacker: She often gets her co-workers to do her job for her.
* WorldsMostBeautifulWoman: Everyone seems to be either in love with or gay for her.

!!Edward Lincoln
* DeadpanSnarker: Not a surprise amongst the cast, though he can keep up with Thomas in this regard.
* HalfIdenticalTwins: With his sister, Jessie.
* HeightAngst: He is ''exceptionally'' touchy about his height, being the shortest member of the main cast by quite a margin. Even in shots where he seems to be around the same height as Brooksie, he admits that he's always wearing lift shoes.
* HotBlooded: Has a short temper, and prior to being picked up by Thomas had trouble keeping a job due to starting fights. He ''almost'' gets fired after meeting [[{{Jerkass}} Reggie]], and part of his CharacterDevelopment involves learning to mellow out.
* InformedAttribute: Apparently he looks a lot like Harry Potter. Nina thinks this is ''hot.''
* TheNapoleon: The first thing most people notice about Ed is his height; the second thing most people notice is [[BerserkButton his sensitivity about his height.]]
* NewMeat: Starts as this, but quickly grows out of it.
* NoSenseOfHumor: It takes him a while to warm up to the ribbing of his coworkers. Eventually graduates to DeadpanSnarker status.
* TinyGuyHugeGirl: [[spoiler: His dynamic with Nina, especially once they start dating.]]

!!Nina Grace
* AuthorAppeal: Like all the other main female characters.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: In high school, she was in some kind of accident where she lost several friends, and was herself gravely injured. One reason she likes Thomas so much is because he helped her through that awful time.
* ShipperOnDeck: Was very vocal about her desires for Thomas and Carol to get together, [[spoiler: and positively burst with happiness when she learned they'd been dating for a while]].
* SlidingScaleOfBeauty: She has buck teeth and oddly tall and thin, giving her a chipmunk-like appearance. However, [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer her coworkers still think she's pretty hot]].
* StatuesqueStunner: Both Ed and Thomas think she's quite attractive, and she's tall enough that normal shirts don't come down past her belly button.
* TinyGuyHugeGirl: [[spoiler: Her dynamic with Ed, especially once they start dating.]]

!!John Kepler
* CasanovaWannabe: Has not been shown to have much success with the ladies - that said...
* ChickMagnet: He is considered quite attractive, with several members of the [[UsefulNotes/FurryFandom Order of the Pelt]] swooning over him, with Alex taking a special interest.
* DeadpanSnarker: A trait he shares with several of his coworkers.
* MustHaveNicotine: One of two characters who smoke. Unlike in most modern works, [[GoodSmokingEvilSmoking he's not derided for his smoking habit]], though he and Brooksie both realize [[SmokingIsNotCool how bad of a habit it is, and are making plans to quit]].
* NotBloodSiblings: In the past, he was apparently in a relationship with his stepsister. It ended very badly when her father caught them having sex, and was '''not''' happy -- though not so much because they were stepsiblings as because she was his little girl. He and John's mother ended up kicking him out of the house because of this.
* OddFriendship: Eventually starts forming something of one with Reggie.
* ReallyGetsAround: According [[InformedAttribute to himself]], anyway.
* TheSlacker: By his own admission, he doesn't put too much effort into pretty much anything he does. In particular, Thomas gets on him about that during their ghost hunt.
* UnrequitedLoveSwitcheroo: Alex originally had a crush on him - something he gladly used to gain her assistance on his ghost hunting trip with Jo and Thomas - but [[spoiler: after Reggie asks her out, he seems to be starting to feel a little something towards her]].

!!Jolene "Brooksie" Brooks
* AuthorAppeal: Like the other main females.
* CovertPervert: Her shy and bubbly nature belies a fairly healthy interest in sex, the juxtaposition of which even weirds out John and Thomas at one point.
* TheCutie: Practically everyone at the store finds her to be an adorable little pixie of a woman.
* IHaveNoDaughter: On the receiving end - her Mother disowned her after she came out to her as bisexual.
* MustHaveNicotine: She and John have bonded over their shared need for a tobacco fix, though both have some desire to quit.
* SecurityBlanket: She borrows Nina's work shirts, and swaps them with Nina to make sure she has something that smells strongly of her.
* ShrinkingViolet: She hates getting unwanted attention.
** TheSneakyGuy: ...And she's gotten very good at avoiding it.
* ShyBlueHairedGirl: Hates attention, but quickly warms up to people who are nice to her.
* SpeaksInShoutOuts: When she can be convinced to speak, she mostly speaks in [[JustForFun/OneOfUs obscure movie quotes.]]

!!Miguel "Mike" Hernandez
* BenevolentBoss: Mike is a genuinely nice guy; sometimes ''too'' nice. He takes a very personable approach when it comes to interacting with his employees. He's unafraid to lay down his authority when necessary, but it's very clear he regards the [=MEGAtainment=] staff as friends more so than workers.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Both comedic and serious examples. On the comedic side, it turned out that he was ''really'' good at Nerf battles. On the serious side, his anger is capable of shutting up ''Reggie.''
* BigFun: A big ol' Teddy Bear of a man who makes up for in friendliness what he can lack sometimes in confidence.
* BoisterousBruiser: During the store's Nerf-Gun "Teambuilding" exercise, he forgoes an actual gun in favor of a large toy Axe and throwing his ammo like LARP magic. He makes it surprisingly far.
* NiceToTheWaiter: The reason the other employees have hope for him is that he actually tries to treat them with respect.
* PointyHairedBoss: [[DefiedTrope Defied.]] Everyone expected him to be this, like his predecessors, and he does have occasional slip-ups due to a lack of practical experience. However, he actively works to get better; see BenevolentBoss above.

!!Reginald "Reggie" Watson Booth

* ChickMagnet: Yes, really. No less than 3 members of the Library's furry club are attracted to him, and even Rulette seems to become attracted to him after he [[spoiler: finds the local hotel's hidden bomb shelter]].
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: On paper, he's an arrogant, accident prone, and too ambitious for his own good. Despite this, he not only placed second in the store's Nerf Gun war - a position he reached in part by shooting someone else's pellet out of mid air - but [[spoiler: managed to uncover a secret bomb shelter in a hotel that had been hidden for 40 years]].
* EveryoneHasStandards: There's one thing his co-workers praise him for, and it's that while he's a jerk, he's at least an honest jerk who will follow the rules, and [[JackOfAllTrades he can be depended on to fill any position in a pinch, even if he won't necessarily fill it well.]]
* GeekyTurnOn: John labels him as having a fetish for competent, intelligent women. [[spoiler: This eventually leads him to ask out Alex]].
* IdleRich: Working at the store seems to be his attempt at averting this trope. Whether or not he's been successful is up to debate.
* JackOfAllTrades: At the store, he's noted as being able to do decent work in any department even if he excels at none of them. Even outside it, he has a surprising amount of unconventional skills - most notably a solid grasp of carpentry and construction from the time he spent working under his father.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He's abrasive, but dependable and can be genuinely kind when he wants to be. His heart of gold starts showing up more around the time he and John [[ItMakesSenseInContext start sitting in on the Library's Furry Club]], and much of his character development is learning and re-learning how to connect with other people.
-->'''John:''' I used to think he was just a dick. Now I think he just holds people to a standard so high he's always dissapointed with them.
* LonelyRichKid: It says a lot about his upbringing that [[spoiler: Jo's "betrayal" from not sticking up for him]] hurt him so deeply.
* NeverMyFault: Reggie has a great deal of difficulty taking responsibility for his own actions, [[spoiler: although on at least one occasion, [[SubvertedTrope it really]] ''[[SubvertedTrope wasn't]]'' [[SubvertedTrope his fault]]]].
* OddFriendship: Uptight and rigid Reggie starts forming a friendship with laid back snarker John, and he outright states he considers Thomas as his friend during the store's teambuilding Nerf-Gun war.
* TheResenter: He's quite bitter towards the other employees. [[spoiler: [[JustifiedTrope Justifiably]] [[FreudianExcuse so]], in fact.]]
* RichInDollarsPoorInSense: Really, Reggie, what did you expect when [[spoiler: you used a cigarette lighter to examine the inside of a cardboard display?]]
* SpoiledBrat: Unlike all the other employees at [=MEGAtainment=], he doesn't actually ''need'' to work there, and he lets people know it.
** It doesn't help that one of [=MEGAtainment's=] top executives is his aunt.

!!Wesley Asel
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Beyond his thieving reputation, Wesley is also a big time StrawMisogynist when he feels comfortable enough to open up. It's established early on when he quite bluntly calls Carol a [[PrecisionFStrike "cunt"]] in front of Mike.
* {{Hipster}}: [[InvokedTrope Invoked]] within his character profile.
* NewMeat: Replaced Ed as "the new guy" at the store.
* PunnyName: ''We''sley ''Asel''.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Only barely conceals his intent to [[spoiler: steal from the store and cause chaos]], although his new "friend" Reggie [[IdiotBall doesn't seem to pick up on it.]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Other Characters]]
!!Jessie Harlan Lincoln
* {{Greed}}: She's constantly looking for new ways to make money or monetize what the people around her do.
* HalfIdenticalTwins: With her brother, Ed.
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: Unfortunately for Ed, his sister likes to dance around their house without a shirt on when she thinks no one else is around.

!!Alexandria "Alex" Melvil
* BigBeautifulWoman: Of an even heavier build than Carol, but still considered attractive enough for [[spoiler: Reggie to ask her out, even if most of his reason for doing so is [[GeekyTurnOn her intelligence]]]].
* FatAndProud: She's self described as big enough to be two women unto herself. She's also very good at branding.
-->'''Alex''': I could just call myself overweight. Or fat. But those aren't nearly as good as... plump, full-figured, shapely, comely, curvaceous, rubenesque.
-->[[spoiler: '''Reggie''']]: Okay, yeah... I'm beginning to catch on. That's, uh, good marketing.
* GeekyTurnOn: While she generally keeps a seductive undercurrent to everything she does, [[spoiler: she is ''immediately'' ready to jump Reggie's bones after he uses his construction know-how to find a hidden bomb shelter in a hotel basement. She even tells him that the night he did so was 10x better than any date she'd ever been on, let alone any actual first date he could've planned for them]].
* PunnyName: She works at a library.
* TheSmartGirl: Eventually gets brought on as a research consultant for Thomas and John's paranormal investigations team.

!!Constance Willowbrooks / [[spoiler: Dawn Holland]]
* ItsAllAboutMe: Shows trouble in considering the feelings of others.
* OccidentalOtaku: If her GratuitousJapanese is any indication.
