->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/BurtReynolds (1st film), Creator/CharlieSheen (2nd film - speaking voice), Jesse Corti (2nd film - singing voice), Creator/StevenWeber (TV series & 3rd film)
->'''First appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven'' (1989)
->'''Last appearance:''' ''An All Dogs Christmas Carol'' (1998)

A roguish German Shepherd mix and con artist.
----
* AesopAmnesia: Throughout later installments, his old ways keep catching up on him. It seems not even residing in heaven itself can keep his vices under control.
* AffablyEvil: Before he starts to change for the better in the original, he is very pleasant, loquacious and charming, enough so that many viewers will not get that he ''is'' a gangster, escaped convict, and a loan shark. His behavior around Anne Marie is not any different than his behavior towards his gambling customers. While some of it is due to his belief that it is better and more effective to get things done the nice way rather than through bullying and violence, it also clearly comes to him naturally. It's one of the biggest differences between him and Carface.
* AllMenArePerverts: In the sequel, he makes no hesitation during Sasha's number to jump up on stage and try to kiss her then and there. He doesn't get a chance, since he's a ghost and she can't see him, but it doesn't stop him from following her around and continuing to hit on her, eventually tricking her into kissing him, once he gets his magic collar from Red.
* AnguishedDeclarationOfLove:
** A [[PlatonicDeclarationOfLove platonic]] one in the first movie Anne-Marie. He tells her in the gentlest way possible that he's dead and can no longer be with her on Earth but gives a solemn but genuine "I love you" to her before departing.
** He sadly does a mutual LoveConfession with Sasha in the sequel because they both think he's being sent back to Heaven for good. Thankfully, Annabelle allows him to return.
* AntiHero: At first a VillainProtagonist, but mellows out quite a bit later on in the film and the sequels. He'd much rather spend his time goofing off than being a guardian angel, but when push comes to shove, he'll do the right thing every time.
* ApatheticPet: Sort of. Anne-Marie calls him her dog at one point, and initially, he only keeps her around so he can use her for winning money at bets. He [[TookALevelInKindness ultimately ditches this trope]] when [[BecomingTheMask he actually comes to care about her]]. [[spoiler:He even [[HeroicSacrifice sacrifices himself to save her]].]]
* BackFromTheDead: Repeatedly, though the reason is always different.
** In the first movie he's run over by Carface's car and knocked into a river, and comes back to life by re-winding the [[SoulJar watch embodying his life]].
** In the second movie he's sent to Earth as a spirit to search for Gabriel's horn, but is tricked by Carface and Red into wearing a cursed collar that grants him a physical body. As a reward for stopping Red's plot, Annabelle returns him to life so he can be together with Sasha.
* BenevolentBoss: Charlie is a jerk, but he was praised for being a fair boss unlike [[BadBoss Carface]].
* BigGuyLittleGuy: Downplayed with Itchy. Both are normal sizes for their dog species but Charlie is the Big Guy because he's a German Shepard mix while Itchy is the Little Guy due to being a Dachshund.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Subverted. He angrily states to Itchy that he's planning to dump Anne-Marie at an orphanage after he's done using her but it's clear to the audience that Charlie genuinely loves Anne-Marie. Unfortunately though, Anne-Marie overhears.
* BlackComedy: The last page in his section of Heaven's Book of Records is a picture of the car that ran him over.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: At the end of the first movie, he calls out the credit music when he and Annabelle are ascending to heaven...
-->'''Charlie''': Hold it, hold it... ''(RecordScratch)'' I know we're dead, but so is the music! Come on speed it up a little!\\
'''Gospel Singer''': Oh honey you know it!\\
''(Gospel choir commences to sing)''\\
'''Charlie''': Yeah, that's nice, that's nice!
** Likewise afterwards, after Annabelle warns Carface that he can never come back, Charlie looks directly at the audience announcing "[[HereWeGoAgain He'll be back]]", winking to them before jumping off screen, leaving his Halo behind, which he reaches back to grab, pulling it off screen before the credits begin.
* TheCharmer: Distracts Annabelle long enough to grab his watch with compliments and dancing with her. He also does this to Anne-Marie to persuade her into talking to animals for him. (As opposed to Carface, who just uses threats).
* TheDon: Prior to the events of the first film, Charlie was an infamous conman, swindler, loan shark, and Carface's equal in New Orleans' canine criminal underworld -- the two of them running a casino. Unlike Carface, who rigs the games so that only he profits, Charlie was AffablyEvil and known for being a [[BenevolentBoss fair boss]]. After being resurrected he tries to use Anne-Marie to set up a rival casino and gang to Carface's, but it gets destroyed and his underlings taken out.
* EarNotch: Charlie has two tears in his right ear.
* EveryoneHasStandards:
** Even before Charlie genuinely comes to love Anne-Marie, he is utterly indignant when she compares his treatment of her to Carface's. Furthermore, many of their employees and customers at their casino remark that Charlie treats them better than Carface does.
** In the animated series episode "Free Nelly", he is repulsed by the abusive way a circus owner treats his elephant.
** Also in the series, Charlie likes to gamble and make a buck, but not when it’s with friends.
* FairyGodmother: Or godfather in this case. In addition to being a GuardianAngel in the series, some of his missions also involve helping kids achieve their dreams and ambitions.
* {{Flanderization}}: The TV series resets his CharacterDevelopment and has him surcumb to his selfish or hasty impulses quite often. This is to some degree an extension from the sequel, where Charlie is similarly apathetic towards his responsibilities placed by Annabelle and [[NiceJobBreakingItHero screws the mission up]], albeit both for more sympathetic and nuanced reasons than are often in the show (namely he is stuck in a monotonous afterlife and when let out [[HonorBeforeReason he prioritised David's safety over Gabriel's horn]]).
* FreudianExcuse: We find out he was a runaway when he was younger, implying how he ended up running a shady business.
* FriendOrIdolDecision: The finale of the first film forces him to choose between saving his watch or Anne-Marie. He attempts to TakeAThirdOption by [[spoiler:pushing Anne-Marie out of the burning ship on a piece of flotsam ''and then'' trying to dive down to grab the watch before it stops instead of devoting all his energy to one of the other.]] While he [[spoiler:fails to prevent his second death]], his actions allow a reformed [[spoiler:Killer the opportunity to paddle the girl the rest of the way to shore and are considered just noble enough by Heaven to give him a second chance.]]
* HasAType: If the second film was of any indication, Charlie is a sucker for single-mom dogs, especially after hearing Sasha has a kid (not realizing she was referring to a human kid).
* HeelRealization: Charlie has a rather big on in the penultimate episode of the TV series, where after being framed for an act of greed by Belladonna and getting all his past misgivings put in front of him, he laments that he deserves the skeptism after so long failing to be an angel, and doesn't really understand why the likes of [[PositiveFriendInfluence Itchy, Annabelle and Sasha]] keep putting their faith in him after countless cases of AesopAmnesia and shifty behaviour. We notably see a much more dependable Charlie in the GrandFinale ChristmasSpecial, implying that this time Charlie's CharacterDevelopment finally stuck.
* HeroicDog: Becomes this as a result of character development in the first movie, first rescuing Anne Marie near the end of the movie sacrificing himself and also rescuing the trapped heaven dogs in Alcatraz Prison in the sequel via playing Gabriel’s Horn, and effectively defeating Red.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: He and Itchy are more like brothers than boss/employees are even friends.
* HeroicSacrifice: He sacrifices himself to save Anne-Marie, earning back his place in Heaven in the process.
-->'''Annabelle:''' ''[her voice echoing from the Heavenly light]'' Charlie, Charlie. You can come home now.\\
'''Charlie:''' But you said...?\\
'''Anabelle:''' Charlie, you gave your life for her. Come home.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: Charlie will be the first to gripe about how being reformed has made his vice-filled life a little less fun, and complain about the sort of missions Annabelle sends him on, but he really is a changed dog who's grown increasingly willing to sacrifice himself for his friends, and he gets own sense of fulfillment whenever he and Itchy manage to change a kid's life for the better.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: His old partnership with Carface would certainly indicate that he suffered from this, not realizing Carface was actively trying to do away with him until ''after'' his first death has already occurred. It gets worse in the rest of the series, where despite his full knowledge that Carface is a thug and worse, his ''murderer'', he still manages to find himself either blindly trusting the guy or reluctantly getting mixed up in his schemes even with this knowledge.
* InformedSpecies: He is stated to be a mixed breed, "as mixed as they come" apparently. However he looks like a purebred German Shepard.
* InkSuitActor: In his review, Creator/RogerEbert [[http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/19891117/REVIEWS/911170301/1023 stated]] that Charlie not only contained the voice of Burt Reynolds, but a few of his mannerisms as well. Though of course this is true of all characters animated by Don Bluth.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He's greedy and vindictive initially, but ultimately proves he's a good dog.
* KarmaHoudini: The first time he dies, he only gets to Heaven because he's a dog; Anabelle couldn't find any redeeming qualities in him.
* LadykillerInLove: The first movie shows he committed infidelity in the past, implying he was something of a womanizer prior to entering heaven. Now, he's in a committed relationship with Sasha.
* LargeHam: Charlie-boy's got his moments, especially when he's got a zany scheme going on.
* ALighterShadeOfBlack: Prior to his first death he was really no better than Carface in terms of morals but generally doesn't cross the lines Carface does. He's a BenevolentBoss and runs the casino honestly in comparison to Carface's BadBoss game rigging habits. And while it's implied he does this partially due to PragmaticVillainy he honestly does take issue how badly Carface is willing to act.
* ListOfTransgressions: Heaven's file on Charlie describes him as "A Bad Dog, Gambler, Pickpocketer, and Low-Life, Bum, Dirty Double Crosser, Greedy Lust for Money, Blackmail, Loan Shark, Tax Fraud, Extortion, Racketeer, Jaded, Heedless, Wanton Decadence, Vanity, and Conceit, Infidelity, A SCOUNDREL."
* LovableRogue: After CharacterDevelopment, he settles into this. 'Cuz even with a higher moral compass, some bad habits just ''won't'' go away. After all, he's Charlie B. Barkin, conman extraordinaire!
* LoveRedeems: He comes to genuinely care for Anne-Marie, and that's what leads him to redeem himself.
* MayDecemberRomance: The age gap between them doesn't show outwardly, since Charlie stopped aging when he died in the first film, but Charlie is a good sixty years older than his girlfriend / mate, Sasha.
* MeaningfulName: [[Series/CharliesAngels He's Charlie and a literal angel.]] To what degree this was intended is unknown, though the pun is definitely not lost on later material like the TV show.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: In the despair points of both the first film and the second film, Charlie is horrified to discover that his previous selfish actions have put his child companions in grave danger of being killed by Carface and his ilk (not to mention, Red threatens every canine in Heaven and Earth). Charlie literally dies making sure Anne-Marie doesn't pay the price for his selfish mistakes, and he nearly does the same for David.
* MysteriousMiddleInitial: His middle name starts with a "B" and it's never touched upon.
* TheNicknamer: He's implied to be the one who started referring to Ichiford as "Itchy", and calls Anne-Marie "Squeaker".
* NotMeThisTime: Given his recurrent shifty or careless actions throughout the TV series, Charlie inevitably has a few moments he is blamed for a dilemma he ''didn't'' cause. In "Cyrano de Barkinac", Itchy tries to rival Charlie when he unwillingly gains the affection of Bess, while in "He Barked, She Barked", Belladonna frames Charlie for abusing a miracle for selfish purposes.
* ThrillSeeker: Mentions that he isn’t fond of heaven due to a lack of thrill and unpredictability. He is shown to be fond of activities from gambling in the first movie to riding a scooter in the sequel, skateboarding, inline skating, bungee jumping, wilderness survival, rafting and parachuting in the animated series, relishing in the excitement all the while, which is an exaggerated TruthInTelevision to the versatility and adventurous nature of real German Shepherds and Collies.
* OutOfFocus: Although he’s still prominently featured in the third film, Charlie’s role as the main protagonist is usurped by [[spoiler: Carface]] of all people.
* PaleFemalesDarkMales: Charlie has darker fur in comparison to Sasha's.
* PapaWolf: Not at first, but by the climax of the first film, he pretty much takes on Carface's ''entire'' gang to save Anne-Marie. Granted, he gets a bit of help from King Gator, but still. He warms to David in the second film even quicker, and he does his best to protect him from Carface and Red.
* ParentalSubstitute: Charlie becomes something of a doting father figure to Anne-Marie the more time they spend together.
* PunnyName: His last name, "'''Bark'''-in".
* Really700YearsOld: The first film is set in the 1930's while the second film and the TV series is set in the 1990's. Charlie doesn't look it, because he stopped aging a long time ago when he died, but he's actually a dog in his sixties for most of the franchise.
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Itchy's blue.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath / RedemptionEqualsLife: [[spoiler: He sacrifices himself to save Anne-Marie's life, thus fulfilling the Equals Death part; in the process, he earns his place in Heaven back, saving his afterlife from Hell. So his redemption both cost him his mortal life AND saved his afterlife.]]
* ReformedButNotTamed: While Charlie has grown as a person and accepted his affiliation to heaven later in the franchise, he's still hardly above lying and generally getting into mischief. In fact, there are even times when Charlie weaponizes his vices and uses them for the greater good.
* RevengeBeforeReason: When he first dies, he's so obsessed with getting revenge on Carface for his murder that he willingly forsakes his place in Heaven to do so.
* RunningGag: Pulls a disgusted face each time Anne-Marie kisses him on the cheek...until the finale, when it's heartwarmingly/breakingly subverted.
* SnapBack: In the first film he dismisses staying in Heaven both due to wanting revenge and finding the prospect of eternal paradise boring. At the end of the film, however, he's [[CharacterDevelopment come to appreciate it]]. When the sequel rolls around, however, he's right back to complaining about the lack of excitement and conspiring to return to the world of the living. Partially justified since Charlie has by then grown sick of the pious and boring traditions that the afterlife turns out to have.
* SoulJar: His watch functions as one. As long as it's intact he's immortal, but if it's destroyed he would be DraggedOffToHell.
* SympathyForTheDevil: During the Christmas Special; upon finding out about Carface's DarkAndTroubledPast, Charlie, though not to Itchy's extent, does feel sorry for him and acknowledge he's sad. That being said, he also points out that it [[FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse doesn't excuse Carface's heinous actions]], especially since plenty of other dogs have had bad childhoods and turned out just fine.
* TenorBoy: Thanks to Jesse Corti and Steven Weber.
* TookALevelInBadass: In the span of two films, Charlie-boy here goes from punching out gangster bulldogs to outlasting [[{{Satan}} Old Scratch]] himself. Now ''that's'' badass!
* TookALevelInCheerfulness: While he's still the most cynical member of the main cast, Charlie has become a happier and more laidback canine during the sequel and TV series, since he's living a good life on Earth with Itchy, Sasha and David, while occasionally doing some good on one of the missions Annabelle forces him on.
* TookALevelInKindness: Not unlike Carface, Charlie was initially a heartless and self-centered gangster. Caring for Anne-Marie and growing to see her as a person instead of a tool for revenge finally causes Charlie to become a more compassionate and empathetic person. While Charlie still has his moments of thoughtlessness and selfishness in the sequel and TV series, he never reaches the same level of dickishness as his first movie self, and he's a lot quicker to put himself in difficult spots for his friends and the people he helps.
* TrueCompanions: The movie opens by establishing the incredibly strong if contentious bond between him and Itchy, with his usually craven friend risking his life to break him out of prison, and Charlie doing everything he can to make sure Itchy doesn't fall behind or get shot by the guards during the escape.

[[folder:Itchy Itchiford]]
[[quoteright:210:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/char_17437.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/DomDeLuise
->'''First appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven'' (1989)
->'''Last appearance:''' ''An All Dogs Christmas Carol'' (1998)

A paranoid, nervous and cowardly Dachshund.
----
* AlliterativeName: '''I'''tchy '''I'''tchiford.
* AmbiguouslyJewish: He has a distinctly New York Jewish accent, mentions bar mitzvahs, and sure can kvetch.
* BackFromTheDead: At first, he turns down a chance at this because he lived a full life and is content to remain in Heaven. However, in the series, he's living on Earth with Charlie to carry out his angelic missions.
* BigGuyLittleGuy: Downplayed with Itchy. Both are normal sizes for their dog species but Itchy is the Little Guy because he's a Dachshund while Charlie is the Big Guy due to being a German Shepard mix.
* ButtMonkey: He gets bossed around by Charlie, Carface's gang beat him up and then Charlie leaves him a second time when he gets taken to heaven at the end of the movie.
* CharacterDevelopment: In the first film, Itchy had moments of being a whiny and cynical despite being initially a loyal and reliable friend to Charlie, but he was also a total doormat when it came to following Charlie's whims, until he tore into him in the last act. After the sixty year time skip, Itchy has become a nicer person in the sequel, but he's also grown more assertive when it comes to calling Charlie out on his terrible decisions. Eventually, after spending two movies being dragged along, helping Charlie out with his problems, Itchy finally makes a decision for himself to part ways with his best friend and live his (after)life the way he wants to in Heaven.
* TheComplainerIsAlwaysWrong: Subverted. People rarely ever listen to Itchy, Charlie included, to his frustration, but Itchy usually brings up some very good points about Charlie putting his own desires ahead of everyone else's safety. In both movies, Charlie could have saved himself a lot of trouble if he had just listened to his friend for once, which Itchy points out to him.
* TheConscience: In the first film, Itchy served as the often ignored voice of reason in the gang, but retained some cynical trappings of his own. In the second film and the TV series, due to being an angel himself, Itchy took on the unofficial role of Charlie's conscience, reminding him of his moral obligations to Heaven that he would keep trying to blow off.
* DeadpanSnarker: Helps him cope with the insanity Charlie and others put him through.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: Gets run through the wringer constantly throughout the first film, ever loyal to Charlie but suffering horribly for it as he watches his best friend get murdered, inexplicably return to life, and is beaten to within an inch of his life when Carface comes after them and Anne-Marie. Before it's all over, he's forced to watch his best friend die ''again'' as Charlie gives up his life to save Anne-Marie. After having lost everything, he finally finds a home with Anne-Marie, entrusted to her care by Charlie before he returns to Heaven. The sequel follows him reuniting with Charlie in the afterlife.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: He and Charlie are more like brothers than boss/employees are even friends.
* HypercompetentSidekick: As he spells out in his WhatTheHellHero speech, he saw all the grief that happened to them coming, repeatedly warning Charlie against his revenge plot, and only went through with it because he wanted to be there for his friend. Before that, he draws up the blueprints for and builds his and Charlie's new casino ''by himself.''
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: At least in the original movie (the sequels would make him more kind, thoughtful and reasonable). He's significantly more abrasive and resentful than Charlie, especially to Anne-Marie, whom he treats like a burden, but he's undeniably caring and loyal to Charlie.
* TheLancer: To Charlie.
* LovableCoward: At times. Just look at how easily he panics in certain moments.
* MeaningfulName: Poor guy seems perpetually bothered by fleas.
* NervousWreck: Not so much in the original movie, where he's more of a DeadpanSnarker and arguably more of a bitter personality than Charlie, as much as in the sequel and series, which play up his neuroses, haplessness and short legs.
* NiceGuy: He evolves into this in the sequels, becoming the friendly and reasonable {{foil}} to Charlie's petty and selfish DeadpanSnarker.
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue to Charlie's red.
* {{Retcon}}: Itchiford in only his last name in the sequels. In the first movie, it's his ''first'' name (which is what Itchy is short for) and his last name is [[SpeciesSurname Dachshund]].
* ServileSnarker: Towards Charlie at times and especially towards Anne-Marie.
* SpeciesSurname: In the first movie, his name is Itchiford "Itchy" Dachshund. The later installments made Itchiford his last name. Unlike most cases of the trope however, this is to bring him ''back'' into the story.
* SuddenSequelDeathSyndrome: The opening of the second film depicts him arriving in Heaven after choking on a chicken bone.
* TenorBoy: Courtesy of his voice actor Dom [=DeLuise=].
* TookALevelInKindness: Itchy is much, much nicer in the sequels and animated series compared to how he was a greedy jerk in the original movie.
* WhatTheHellHero: Delivers a tearful speech to Charlie about his neglect, as well as the fact that Charlie's love for Anne-Marie has put Itchy and the casino in jeopardy.

[[folder:Anne-Marie]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/anne_marie_8.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/JudithBarsi (speaking voice), Lana Beeson (singing voice)
->'''First Appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven'' (1989)
->'''Last appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven'' (1989)

A 6-year-old orphan girl with the ability to talk to and understand animals.
----
* AffectionateNickname: Charlie calls her "Squeaker".
* AllLovingHero: Anne-Marie is a loving and compassionate young girl who is a FriendToAllLivingThings and one of her goals is to create orphanages.
* AnguishedDeclarationOfLove: A [[PlatonicDeclarationOfLove platonic]] one to Charlie. When the dog tells her in the gentlest way that he must officially depart from the living, Anne-Marie gives him a sad "I love you" before he leaves.
* AnimalMotifs: Anne-Marie is given two, but subtle motifs in dogs and rabbits.
** Dogs are the most overt given she was cared for by Carface and Charlie, both canines before being HappilyAdopted. While she's a FriendToAllLivingThings, dogs are the ones she's seen the most with. Her IWantSong has her imagining a life with Kate, Harold, Flo, and the puppies. And the reason she is given proper care in the climax is because Itchy, Flo, and other dogs went to Kate and Harold to get help.
** She also has a small rabbit motif throughout the movie. Most prominently would be her toy rabbit and, more subtly, the bunny slippers she wears while eating with the "Wallet Family".
* CheerfulChild: After Charlie rescues her, she's typically quite positive, unless she finds out he has fibbed to her. Which unfortunately is often.
* ChildrenAreInnocent: Anne-Marie is an innocent, naive 6-year-old girl.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Anne-Marie isn't even namedropped in the sequels.
* CompanionCube: Has a toy rabbit, which seems to be the only possession she owns.
* TheCutie: Even her pouty faces are downright adorable!
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Whatever happened to her birth parents is unknown and she was somehow found and kept prisoner by Carface who exploited her ability to speak with animals.
* EveryProperLadyShouldCurtsy: Does this whenever she meets someone new. This got featured as an image on one of the DVD covers.
* {{Expy}}: Design-wise, she strongly resembles {{Creator/Disney}}'s [[WesternAnimation/SnowWhiteAndTheSevenDwarfs Snow White]].
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Shows genuine concern over the rats, frogs, horses and other animals she speaks with. This becomes important in the climax, when all the other dogs who hear about her kidnapping pass the messages across almost the whole city.
* HappilyAdopted: [[spoiler:It's implied at the film's end that she'll be adopted by "the wallet family."]]
* HeartwarmingOrphan: She has no parents, and being adopted is her motivation in helping Charlie.
* HeroesLoveDogs: Given Anne-Marie is a FriendToAllLivingThings, she is kind and nurturing towards canines.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Justified in that she's a little girl and inclined to see the best in everyone, but she tends to believe whatever she's told. Charlie lies to her quite a few times, and whenever she calls him out on it, she's quick to buy whatever fresh excuse he comes up with.
* InnocentBlueEyes: Fitting for an innocent, trusting child like her.
* ISeeDeadPeople: In the ending of the first movie, the last time she sees Charlie, he's already dead since he [[HeroicSacrifice sacrificed]] himself to save her earlier. Thus, this means Anne-Marie was talking to Charlie's spirit.
* LimitedWardrobe: Even though Charlie buys her a full wardrobe of fancy clothes, she still wears the same raggedy dress all throughout the movie.
* MadeASlave: At some point of her life, Carface found out that [[SpeaksFluentAnimal she can talk to animals]], and uses her ability to rig animal races while keeping her locked up in his casino. After Charlie and Itchy break her out, they intend to use her abilities for the same reason as Carface, though they allow her more freedom, and the only reason she doens't run away to the couple that found her wandering outside the racetrack is because Charlie smooth talked her into staying with him and Itchy. However, when Ann-Marie overhears Charlie telling Ithy that she hasn't made him "soft" and is only interested keeping her so she can help them cheat, she runs off and they're both eventually captured by Carface, who locks her in a cage above deep water to make sure she doesn't escape again.
* MadwomanInTheAttic: Early on, she's implied to be something like this, with Itchy overhearing a thug complaining about having to feed "Carface's little monster," leading him to think the mobster has some kind of monster hidden away in his lair. It's subverted in that she's neither mad nor a monster, just a lonely girl functionally being kept prisoner.
* MealTicket: How Carface and (initially) Charlie see her, as they want to use her ability to talk with animals to make money.
* MoralityPet: She becomes Charlie's. Which is ironic, since she's a human and refers to Charlie as "her dog" to other people.
* NiceGirl: A ''very'' sweet and kind girl.
* ParentalAbandonment: And we never do find out what happened to her parents.
* PauperPatches: She's first seen clothed in scraps and rags, kept prisoner in the villain's riverboat-turned-casino. She gets much better clothes once the Wallet couple adopts her.
* PrimaryColorChampion: Her clothing consists of her yellow bow, blue vest with a white t-shirt underneath, and a red dress with yellow patches.
%%* ProperTightsWithASkirt
* RagsToRiches: Downplayed. She's an orphaned girl who lives in horrible conditions. By the end of the film, it's implied she's [[spoiler:HappilyAdopted by the "wallet family" who are shown to live in a luxurious house.]]
* RaisedByWolves: Downplayed. It's ambiguous about what happened to her biological parents but she was taken in and cared for by Carface and, later Charlie, before being HappilyAdopted by Kate and Harold.
* RavenHairIvorySkin: A very cute-looking girl with pale skin, huge blue eyes and dark hair.
* ShoppingMontage: Charlie takes her out and buys her a bunch of new clothes, theoretically so she can get parents.
* SpeaksFluentAnimal: The entire reason Carface kidnapped her was so she could use this ability to help him win big at the races. She can't, however, understand foreign languages some animals might have. As she put it, the rats throwing her and Charlie to King Gator "talk funny", so she couldn't convince them to stop.
* TotemPoleTrench: Dons a fake mustache and stands on top of Itchy and Charlie so they can place a bet on a horse race.

[[folder:Carface Carruthers]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/carface.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Vic Tayback (1st film), Creator/ErnestBorgnine (Sequels & TV series)
->'''First appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven'' (1989)
->'''Last appearance:''' ''An All Dogs Christmas Carol'' (1998)

A shifty, psychotic mixed American Pit Bull Terrier/Bulldog gangster.
----
* AlliterativeName: '''Car'''face '''Car'''ruthers.
* AndThereWasMuchRejoicing: Charlie, as the Ghost of Christmas Future, shows him that in a BadFuture where he went along with Belladonna's plan and didn't pull a HeelFaceTurn, this was the reaction to his death.
* BadBoss: Constantly abuses his minions, and it's Killer who takes the brunt of his abuse. It's also mentioned in the first film that he treats his customers at the casino very poorly, especially without Charlie to get in his way.
* BigBad: Of the first movie. While he doesn't return to this status, both sequels keep him in a rather important role... minus VillainDecay. He shifts to AntiVillain in the TV Series and finally performs a HeelFaceTurn in the ChristmasSpecial.
* BigBadWannabe: He's a pretty vicious gangster to start of with, though as the afterlife mythos continue into the franchise, he finds himself playing second fiddle to literal demons and spirits, who are both far stronger than he can ever hope to be and are motivated by evil for its own sake rather than simple greed.
* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder: He betrays and sells out Charlie multiple times across the entire series.
* CigarChomper: Is almost never seen without a stogie in his mouth.
* DealWithTheDevil: Makes one with Red in the sequel for a collar allowing him to remain physical on Earth. He didn't know he was selling his literal soul at the time...Red did.
** Heavily implied to happen again in the TV series when Belladonna introduces herself as Carface's new boss, and he reveals that she gave him a magic collar that allows him to talk in exchange for his servitude.
** Kind of makes one with Belladonna in the third movie. In exchange for getting all the Christmas gifts in the city, he was supposed to help her ruin Christmas. But he underwent a HeelFaceTurn before he could.
* DemotedToDragon: In the sequel he's Red's lackey, and in the series he's demoted to Belladonna's.
* TheDon: He was the top dog in New Orleans' canine criminal underworld in the first film, running a rigged gambling den out of an old steamboat. Not wanting to split the profits with his partner in crime, Carface secretly had Charlie sent to the pound to be put down -- the canine equivalent of death row -- but Charlie escaped, leading to Carface deciding to off him directly. In the series, he tries to reestablish his criminal empire in San Francisco, even if it means trying to seize control of other businesses, or burgling a few homes.
* DraggedOffToHell: Suffers this fate in the second film when Red cashes in his DealWithTheDevil and claims his soul. They never explain how he got back in the series, though the implication given he's working for Belladonna is that she had something to do with it.
* DragonTheirFeet: In the second film, Carface only outlasts his master Red by mere seconds, at which point he gets DraggedOffToHell.
* EatenAlive: King Gator eats him off-screen at the end of the first movie.
* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: The ChristmasSpecial reveals he actually really loved and missed his mother. At the end, after his HeelFaceTurn, he goes to visit her.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He's a ''horrible'' person, but the idea of his actions directly resulting in the death of a young crippled puppy in ''Christmas Carol'' horrifies him.
* EvilCounterpart: To Charlie. Both are jerkish gangsters who [[{{Greed}} love money]] and use the young Anne-Marie's gift for speaking with animals for their own personal gain. However, Charlie was a BenevolentBoss who believed in fairness, and came to be loving and protective over Anne-Marie while Carface is a BadBoss who only sees the young girl as a way to make money.
* EvilIsPetty: In the sequel, his only major plan in regards to [[MacGuffin Gabriel's horn]] is using it to "open any safe or bank vault in the world." Red criticizes him for this, having far bigger plans than such "entry-level wickedness."
* EvilMinions: While the BigBad of the first film, whenever a new BigBad shows up afterwards, he and Killer normally become their minion. In the second movie, it was to [[CatsAreMean Red]] and in the series, it's normally for [[EvilTwin Belladonna]]. Though in the third film, he gets promoted to TheDragon.
* EvilSoundsDeep: He has the voice of a chronic smoker.
* ExitPursuedByABear: When we last see him alive, he's chased by King Gator. The time he's seen he's in Heaven, swearing revenge on "that blasted gator", implying he was eaten.
* FamilyFriendlyFirearms: He owns a laser gun in the form of a Thompson SMG. Yeah...[[ImperialStormtrooperMarksmanshipAcademy Too bad he misses every time]].
* FatBastard: A short, stocky dog who is the petty, murderous BigBad of the first movie.
* FaustianRebellion:
** He tries to ditch Red after his defeat in the sequel, though is DraggedOffToHell for it.
** He makes a more active attempt against Belladonna in the ChristmasSpecial though also summons her temper when he ruins her evil plan. Since he had much nobler intent this time round however, Annabelle rescues him.
* FauxAffablyEvil: At first, he likes to style himself as a civil businessman, choosing to off an old friend like Charlie in a "friendly and businesslike way" (by getting him drunk and running him down with a car), rather than just do something more expedient and violent, [[WhyDontYouJustShootHim like crush his head with pliers as Killer suggested]]. He quickly drops the act though and starts going for more expedient and brutal methods, all the while acting increasingly more unhinged.
* FisherKing: The casino under his management is pretty poorly run. The dogs that win their bets are given poor meat, the tables are rigged and Carface uses Anne-Marie to get inside information on bets so he can fix em and keep all the profits for himself. Something Charlie notices after hearing the complaints of the patrons yet seeing that Carface's operation wasn't suffering for it.
* {{Flanderization}}: In the first movie, Carface was calculating and murderous, with only the occasional cartoonish moments. Through the second movie and the TV series, he becomes more and more of a petty buffoon, to the point he is outright considered pathetic enough to be redeemable in the ChristmasSpecial.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: The sequel shows Carface being awarded for rehabiliating in the afterlife, showing that as angels, dogs can be redeemed regardless of their mortal misgivings prior. In this case, it was all an act, though the GrandFinale does indeed have Carface, after considering all his actions in life and death, finally have a change of heart.
* FormerlyFit: Implied. At the beginning of the first movie, Charlie comments that Carface "put on a little weight" since they saw each other last.
* FreudianExcuse: Revealed in the ChristmasSpecial. He was thrown out of his owner's house on Christmas as a pup because his owner didn't watch him and blamed everything on him. The scene is surprisingly heartbreaking because he still dreams his owner stood up for him instead of what really happened. Even Itchy (who was playing Ghost of Christmas Past) is [[CryForTheDevil left feeling bad for him afterwards]].
* FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: It's revealed in the ChristmasSpecial that when Carface was a puppy, he was thrown out of his owner's house on Christmas because his owner didn't watch him and blamed everything on him. The scene is surprisingly heartbreaking because he still dreams his owner stood up for him instead of what really happened. Even Itchy (who was playing Ghost of Christmas Past) is [[CryForTheDevil left feeling bad for him afterwards]]. Charlie admits that what happened to him was horrible, but point out that a lot of dogs had a bad childhood, but they didn't all turn out nasty.
* {{Greed}}: His main motivation in the first movie. He and Charlie were business partners initially and ran their own casino together. But Carface wanted it all the profits to himself, so he framed Charlie for a crime that got him sent to prison on death row. When Charlie broke out, Carface resorted to murder. His first thought of what to do with Gabriel's horn is to go on a bank robbery spree.
* TheHeavy: While Carface doesn’t return to the BigBad role, he serves as the de facto main antagonist for the series while being Belladonna’s lapdog, and his schemes involve menacing canines and humans alike in San Francisco, or trying to take over the Flea Bite Cafe.
* HeelFaceTurn: Attempts one at the end of the second film, but he gets dragged down to Hell in the midst of a peaceful conversation with Charlie. He finally pulls it off in the ChristmasSpecial. He insists it's just a one time thing however, though since it was the GrandFinale, we never find out for sure.
* HeelRealization: In the ChristmasSpecial, it's revealed that Carface was thrown out of his home as a puppy because his owner blamed him for everything and he peed behind the Christmas tree -- having been unable to hold it in any longer. Because of this, he's very sympathetic for the crippled young puppy Timmy, and is happy to see that he has a more caring family. He's thus horrified when he's shown the future and sees that his scam led to harming Timmy and his family. This causes Carface to reform and help stop Belladonna's plans to hypnotize every dog in San Francisco.
* HowTheMightyHaveFallen: Once a feared, glorified mob boss in the dog underworld, now Carface is a lapdog to Red and then Belladonna whose trying to make ends meet.
* LaughablyEvil: Moreso in the sequels, though he has his moments in the first movie as well. Part of this comes from being completely outclassed by far more powerful, dangerous demons.
* TheOnlyOne: In the third movie, he's the only one who can stop Belladonna. Justified in that Charlie and company had no idea were she was hiding and he was the only one close enough to her to do it (as Belladonna is far too powerful for Charlie and friends to directly go up against). Naturally they had to make him perform a HeelFaceTurn to do it.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: In the mortal world, Carface was a sinister and fearsome mob boss. In the afterlife however, he is completely outclassed in power and menace by literal demons and embodiments of hell such as Red and Belladonna, always playing an EvilMinion.
* RedemptionEqualsLife: Ghost of Christmas Future (Charlie), revealed that if he hadn't changed, he was doomed to die and go to Hell before the next Christmas. His HeelFaceTurn saved both his earthly life and his afterlife.
* RevengeBeforeReason: By the latter half of the first film, he seems to be obsessed with killing Charlie to the expense of everything else, despite the fact that Charlie is no longer in a position to take the profits of their once shared business and is never equipped to fight back against the mob. Even getting Anne-Marie back becomes a secondary concern for Carface, and towards the end, she ends up being more of a means of baiting Charlie out than anything else. [[spoiler:It continues on even after Carface dies, rejecting an eternal paradise that was outright given to him just to get back at an alligator who ate him.]]
* ResurrectedForAJob: It’s heavily implied in the series that Belladonna brought him back for her schemes to tempt Charlie into the dark side.
* TheScrooge: In The ChristmasSpecial, naturally.
* ShoutOut: His name is a pun on the movie ''Film/{{Scarface|1983}}'', and was also UsefulNotes/AlCapone's nickname.
* SmugSnake: In the first movie.
* SurroundedByIdiots: When he realizes Anna Marie has been stolen, he screams that he's surrounded by morons.
* TalkingAnimal: He only gets this ability if given a magic collar. In the second film, he was granted one from his master, Red. In the series, Belladonna gave him another magic collar, and he used his ability to talk to take over a meat processing factory when the guy in charge went on vacation.
* TookALevelInBadass: After suffering VillainDecay in the second film and being an AntiVillain in the series, he actually becomes a good bit more threatening in the third film (though still not as much as he was in the original film). Though it also ends with him pulling a HeelFaceTurn.
* TookALevelInDumbass: Is a legitimately dangerous thug in the first movie; by the second, not only is he in league with an infinitely more dangerous villain who has him at his mercy, but he unknowingly ''sold his soul'' in exchange for the collar that allowed him to return to his mortal self. This ignorance comes back to bite him bigtime later.
* UnexplainedRecovery: The second film ends with him being DraggedOffToHell as per his deal with Red, only for him to be back on Earth during the series with no explanation. His servitude to Belladonna would imply she released him for her purposes however.
* VileVillainLaughableLackey: Weirdly enough he's been on both ends of this trope. He's the vile villain in the first movie with Killer as his lackey, but once VillainDecay sets in Carface becomes the bumbling sidekick to Red, and later Belladonna.
* VileVillainSaccharineShow: The darkness in the movie that doesn't come from the overarching themes of Hell and damnation come from Carface, who is a brutal, child-slaving gangster who murders Charlie and beats his friend Itchy half-to-death. All of this juxtaposed against relatively "kid-friendly" scenes like Charlie and the puppies. Note this only applies in the first movie; by the time the sequels come in, Carface degrades [[VileVillainLaughableLackey into a bumbling sidekick for more powerful baddies]].
* VillainDecay: Heaven must've made him go soft, seeing how he goes from being the BigBad and a competent gangster to being a bumbling EvilMinion to both Red and Belladonna. This is [[JustifiedTrope justified]] on both cases, seeing as how a mere gangster like him couldn't possibly muscle his way against either [[DemonLordsAndArchdevils type]] of [[FallenAngel villain]] (though neither of them are as competent or menacing as he was in the first movie). Given his own [[TheMafia background]], it's not a stretch to assume that Carface is used to "playing the game" of survival, as he puts it himself.
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: In the sequel he manages to avoid suspicion of his connections with Red in the afterlife with good behaviour, to the point he is rewarded "Most Rehabiliated" by Annabelle:
-->'''Carface:''' Hey, Charlie, remember. [[PragmaticVillainy It never hurts to play the game.]] ''*chuckles*''
* VocalEvolution: In the sequel, Ernest Borgnine does a decent likeness of Vic Tayback's calm gravelly performance for the most part. In the TV series, Borgnine leans more towards his natural voice and goes for LargeHam as Carface's default mood.
* WhosOnFirst: In a [[VillainDecay surprising display of stupidity]], he sided with Red in the second movie on the assumption failure would lead to the loss of his ''sole''. Suffice to say, he joins his hellish master when Red's banished back to Hell.

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/204654_1237220355620_full.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/CharlesNelsonReilly
->'''First appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven'' (1989)
->'''Last appearance:''' ''An All Dogs Christmas Carol'' (1998)

A misnamed, faint-hearted, neurotic and bespectacled Schnauzer/poodle hybrid.
----
* AffablyEvil: He appears to have a deeply respectful attitude toward his friends and enemies.
* AfraidOfBlood: Which may be why he prefers to "use the pliers".
* AmbiguouslyGay: Well, he ''is'' played by Charles Nelson Reilly. The TV series makes it a little more abundant, where he tries to flirt with Itchy, who's DisguisedInDrag. His musical number in the Christmas special makes him [[CampGay as gay as the holiday itself]] (though one gag shows him with a wife and kid).
* ButtMonkey: Carface smokes in his face, tells him to shut up, won't listen to his opinions, screams at him... and lowers him ''into a piranha tank''. You'll start to wonder why Killer even bothers sticking around.
* EvilMinions: To Carface normally, but in the series they're more of partners. However, he instantly joins Carface in following Belladonna when she shows up.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:He does help save Anne-Marie at the end of the first movie. But, he goes back to working for Carface in the series]].
* HiddenHeartOfGold: In the episode "Sidekicked", he saves Itchy from drowning yet completely denies it.
* ImperialStormtrooperMarksmanshipAcademy: Killer owns a ray gun, and yet all his shots miss, even when Charlie least expected it.
* InkSuitActor: Sports Charlies Nelson Reilly's comically oversized glasses and frequently makes his trademarked "disgusted" face.
* IronicNickName: A killer he sure ain't...
* MinionWithAnFInEvil: If he isn't a PunchClockVillain, he's definitely this.
-->'''Carface:''' Isn't this just the sweetest thing?\\
'''Killer:''' [[SincerityMode Oh, it is, Boss, it really is.]] You know, it reminds me of when Lassie rescued-\\
'''Carface:''' Shut up.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: IronicNickName to run away from, in this case, as seen above.
* OnlyOneName: The rest of the dogs all have last names. Killer on the other hand is Killer.....''Just'' Killer.
* PetTheDog:
** He doesn't seem to approve of Carface's treatment of Anne-Marie, and even swims her to safety at the end of the first movie.
** In the ChristmasSpecial, he willingly gets Carface a Christmas present in spite of his constant abuse from him. Even Carface himself is bewildered by this.
* PhraseCatcher: Pretty much every line he says is met with a "Shut up" from Carface.
* PutOnABus: He's inexplicably absent in the second film, but [[TheBusCameBack returns]] for the TV series.
* Really700YearsOld: Killer was Carface's minion in the first movie, which is set in the [=1930s=], and inexplicably returns in the animated series -- which is set in the [=1990s=] looking the same as he did then; and unlike with Charlie and Carface there's zero indication he died and was resurrected.
* ScaryShinyGlasses: Briefly does this when he mentions that he has a ray gun.
* StrawLoser: Despite Carface's VillainDecay in the TV series, he still looks rather conniving and sinister next to Killer.
* TenorBoy: Courtesy of Charles Nelson Reilly.
* WhateverHappenedToTheMouse: An inverted case as it's his ''return'' that goes unexplained. His absense in the second film is justified by not being in the afterlife, thus Carface and Red simply not involving him. In the TV series however, he is back with Carface, seemingly a minion for Belladonna like him.
* VillainDecay: Killer was already low on the evil side of things in the first film (where he was pitiful, but at least eager to help murder Charlie), but when Carface got demoted to his BumblingSidekick role with Belladonna in the TV series, Killer got demoted even further down.

[[folder:Annabelle]]
[[quoteright:292:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pic_detail4f047a9faf5d5.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Melba Moore (1st film), Creator/BebeNeuwirth (Sequels & TV series)
->'''First appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven'' (1989)
->'''Last appearance:''' ''An All Dogs Christmas Carol'' (1998)

The archangel dog in Heaven.
----
* AmbiguousSituation: It’s unclear if Annabelle is a being that ever ''has'' lived, judging by her reaction to life from the lens of a mortal, meaning she is likely a native to Heaven as the Archangels are. Charlie jokes that she must have passed away eons ago.
* BadassInDistress: As a result of claiming Gabriel's horn, Red is able to swiftly teleport and imprison Annabelle along with the rest of the heavenly dogs via its command in the second film, requiring Charlie to reclaim it and free them. Being an immortal archangel, this applies as the only time in the series that Annabelle was ever in real danger.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: She's soft-spoken and a bit dippy, but she is incredibly powerful. When she shows up to take Charlie to heaven as a reward for his HeroicSacrifice, she ''one shots'' the kaiju sized Hellhound. [[spoiler:She also defeats Belladonna in the ''Christmas Carol'' by dumping an entire blizzard full of snow on her.]] When Carface steals his life clock in an attempt to do what Charlie did at the end of the first movie, she chases after him in a righteous fury.
--> (''to [Carface'') "I said... '''''TOUCH THAT CLOCK AND YOU CAN NEVER COME BACK!!!"'''''
* BigGood: The closest the series has to one. She's seemingly in charge of the day-to-day affairs of Dog Heaven, including registering the newly deceased. Annabelle is the dogs’ equivalent of an archangel.
* BookEnds: Both the first film and GrandFinale ChristmasSpecial have [[BigDamnHeroes Annabelle personally dispose of the demon]] as a sign that the spotlighted character's soul has been redeemed. Charlie in the first for [[HeroicSacrifice saving Anne-Marie]], and Carface in the finale for [[HeelFaceTurn turning on Belladonna]].
* BroughtDownToNormal: In an episode of the TV series, she offers to switch with Itchy for one assignment. She spends the early part a FishOutOfWater in terms of normal dog activity.
-->'''Charlie:''' Lady, you've been gone a ''long'' time.
* CelestialParagonsAndArchangels: Her status as the BigGood for Heaven as far as dogs are concerned and it’s implied she's an archangel, or at least the equivalent of one.
* CharacterisationMarchesOn: In the first movie, she comes off as something of a BunnyEarsLawyer, and in spite of having shades of pious overconfidence, she's way more ditzy and fun-loving, even enjoying Charlie dancing and flirting with her, compared to the sequels' authority figure who can seldom stand his nonsense. Though it could be argued that she was more friendly because she just met Charlie whereas in later works, she's grown wise to his self-centered tendencies. She also consistently refers to Charlie as just that, rather than her InsistentAppellation of "Charles" afterwards.
* {{Flanderization}}: She became more uptight and regal after the first film, the change in voice actress exacerbating it. Some episodes of the TV show do show she maintains a more subtle playful streak however.
* FriendshipMoment: In the sequel and TV series, Annabelle clearly doesn't put high trust in Charlie after all he's done. Whenever Belladonna tries to come between them however, Annabelle generally becomes very protective of Charlie, and following her final attempt in "He Barked, She Barked", Annabelle makes it unambiguous to Charlie and everyone else that she loves having rascal of an angel like him around.
* GreatBigBookOfEverything: Has one that keeps record of the past, present, and future of all dogs.
* HeelRealization: in the penultimate episode of the TV series, Belladonna frames Charlie for an unheroic act. Despite a humble Charlie admitting he doesn't really deserve her trust, Annabelle is remorseful for doubting Charlie, and assures him that she counts on a "rascal" like him.
* HolyBurnsEvil: When she appears, the Hellhound simply explodes in her presence.
* InsistentAppellation: Refers to Charlie by the more formal name "Charles" throughout the sequel and TV series.
* LightIsGood: Being an honest-to-goodness angel makes her one, naturally.
* InnocentSoprano: Bebe Neuwirth uses her high-pitched voice as Annabelle in the 2nd film, the TV series and the Christmas Special, even adding a warble that Melba Moore's performance lacked.
* MagicMirror: Annabelle can communicate with Charlie and Itchy using any reflective surface, and has used such surfaces to get between Heaven and Earth...
* NamedInTheSequel: She's only called "[[NoNameGiven Whippet Angel]]" in the credits of the first movie. She doesn't get the name Annabelle until the sequel.
* NotSoAboveItAll: At the end of “Lance the Wonder Dog” she reveals that Lance gets constant transfers as guardian angel because his by-the-book attitude drives everyone in heaven crazy. Lance is apparently too goody-goody for even Annabelle's tastes.
* NotSoOmniscientAfterAll: Claims to be omniscient, and yet is completely taken by surprise when Charlie steals and rewinds his [[SoulJar watch]]. She is also reduced to a DamselInDistress with the other dog spirits by Red in the sequel, again failing to anticipate Charlie's carelessness or Carface's betrayal with Gabriel's horn.
* OurAngelsAreDifferent: A pink whippet, at that!
* PinkMeansFeminine: She has pink fur. When made completely mortal, she reverts to the natural color of a whippet.
* PoliticallyIncorrectHero: Casually mentions how little she thinks of humans compared to dogs, saying that unlike people, dogs are fundamentally good and kind and loving. To her credit, she's right... barring Carface. And the Hellhound. And [[FallenAngel Belladonna]] if you take the sequels as canon.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Despite her pious qualities and usual lack of patience with Charlie, she is ultimately this. She gives Charlie ''many'' second chances, redeeming his soul in the first film and even giving him a second chance at life like he wanted in the second. In one instance Charlie turned out to be framed for misconduct, she sincerely apologises for accusing him (even after everyone else notes [[NotMeThisTime she wasn't unjustified to do such]]). She has even shown the same willingness to redeem Carface (though is initially too eager to believe an act).
* TricksterMentor: Some of her approaches in the TV series lean on this. In one episode, she has Charlie and Itchy switch bodies to learn to appreciate one another, while in another instance they squabble, she switches places with Itchy, knowing she'd be such a bad mix with Charlie in mortal form that he'd miss Itchy.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: In the sequel. She awards Carface an honorary pin badge for "Most Rehabilitated" angel. The pin is so sharp that it allows Carface to break through the glass holding Gabriel's horn later on. Her sending Charlie to retrieve the horn in turn [[NiceJobBreakingItHero has repurcussions]], though to her credit, [[ThisIsGonnaSuck she knew this decision might end up biting her.]]
* VocalEvolution: Bebe Neuwirth's performance as Annabelle became much more consistently hammy and shrill in the TV series, with her tremolo much more exagerrated, compared to the sequel where, similar to Melba Morre's version, she was much more soft spoken whenever Annabelle wasn't performing or losing her temper.

->'''Voiced by:''' Ken Page
->'''First appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven'' (1989)
->'''Last appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven'' (1989)

An American [[GagLips big lipped]] alligator and voodoo witch doctor, living below the streets of New Orleans.
----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: King Gator initially intends to eat Charlie and Anna-Marie, but after hearing Charlie's melodic howl of despair he stops and declares himself and Charlie soulmates destined to make music together. Charlie is less than comfortable with this, but goes along with it as a means to get himself and Anna Marie to safety.
* AnimalsNotToScale: He's an American Alligator around the size of an elephant.
* BigDamnHeroes: Shows up [[spoiler: just in time to bite through the ropes tying Charlie to an anchor, sink Carface's ship, and eat him.]]
* BigFun: He's overweight, even for a gator, but that doesn't stop him from putting on a musical act.
* BoisterousBruiser: He loves singing and dancing a lot in the style of an opera singer and he has a NoIndoorVoice (He even asks Charlie if he finds his voice sounds like a baritone or a tenor).
* CampGay: With a capital G! He's effeminate, flamboyant, wears makeup and eye shadow and puts on a ''fabulous'' Esther Williams-style musical number, all while clearly flirting with Charlie.
* GagLips: He has massive red lips.
* GentleGiant: At least if you get onto his good side. Once he decides that he likes Charlie, he spares his life and, later, saves him from Carface.
* GreenGators: He's a bright leaf-green alligator, sharply contrasting the dark slate color of real-life gators.
* HeelFaceTurn: He was about to eat Charlie at first, but after hearing him howl, he thinks he's a "fellow singer" and decides to spare him.
* {{Homage}}: His first scene starts as one to ''Film/KingKong''. Once it goes off the rails, it becomes one to Esther Williams.
* LargeHam: Both literally and figuratively speaking.
* NeverSmileAtACrocodile: He's a genuine threat to Charlie at first, almost eating him, and later sinks Carface's ship and eats him.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler:While his initial attacks on Carface's ship during the climax save Charlie's life, King Gator's further attempts to lend assistance by ramming the hull end up doing more harm than good as they cause Anne-Marie to fall into the water and force Charlie into the situation where he would have to choose between saving her and his watch.]]
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: It's heavily implied he [[spoiler: ''eats'' Carface]].
* PetTheDog: Once he decides not to eat Charlie, he's surprisingly loyal; it's him who bails Charlie out when he's overwhelmed by Carface's gang. (And he manages to knock the cage Anne-Marie's in off the ceiling.)
* SapientEatSapient: He would have eaten Charlie and Anne-Marie, but Charlie's howl, which he found beautiful, made him change his mind. It's strongly implied that he finally ate (the also sapient) Carface.
-->'''King Gator:''' Mmm... delicious~! Hahaha!\\
'''Carface:''' ''[screams and swims away as fast as he can]''
* SewerGator: He lives in the sewers of New Orleans.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: He only has a brief two appearances in the first film and is not seen again. [[spoiler: However he is responsible for Carface's (and [[NiceJobBreakingItHero less directly Charlie's]]) death, setting off the plots for the series ongoing.]]
* ThatRemindsMeOfASong: He seems to be pretty prone to this: when Charlie howls piercingly as he's about to eat him, that's what gives him a "''biiiiig thriiiilll''"!
* TrrrillingRrrs: As part of his hammy way of talking, he rolls his R-s.
* WhateverHappenedToTheMouse: Carface is last seen vowing revenge on Gator for eating him and sending him to the afterlife. Whether he succeeds is unknown as in the sequel, Carface is back in Heaven and Gator does not make a reappearance.

->'''Voiced by:''' Dan Molina
->'''First Appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven'' (1989)
->'''Last appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven'' (1989)

The series' equivalent of the Devil who appears in Charlie's nightmare and intends to drag him off to Hell.
----
* AnimalisticAbomination: He is a draconic, dog-like entity born from fire and brimstone.
* {{Cumulonemesis}}: In the living world, he manifests as a large black cloud of smoke.
* DragonsAreDemonic: He takes the appearance of an enormous canine DraconicAbomination.
* EvilSoundsDeep: He only has a few lines, most of which are whispered, but, at full volume, his voice is spine-chillingly deep and booming.
* FogOfDoom: His appearance in the world of the living.
* GreaterScopeVillain: As the canine equivalent of the Devil, he is essentially evil incarnate. Presumably, he is superior to all the other demonic characters, as in the sequel Charlie notes that Red's boss must've yanked the leash, with the possible exception of Belladonna as the Hellhound is [[CurbStompBattle effortlessly banished back to Hell]] by Annabelle at the end of the first film, whereas Belladonna puts up ''much'' more of a fight and Annabelle eventually has to drop an entire snowdrift on her in order to win.
* KnightOfCerebus: While Carface has a few comedic moments, and even the other {{Satanic Archetype}}s Red and Belladonna are more LargeHam caricatures with CardCarryingVillain motivations, the Hellhound is purely unhumanized satanic imagery with no other characterisation besides sadistic will to torture the souls thrown to him.
* ObviouslyEvil: Being a stand-in for the Devil will do that to you.
* PetTheDog: He allows Charlie to say goodbye to Anne-Marie before he claims his soul.
* SatanicArchetype: As stated before, he is the dog version of Satan.
* VileVillainSaccharineShow: Charlie's nightmare sequence was shortened for fear of children being scarred for life by this character who only appears on-screen for a few seconds as it is.
* VoiceOfTheLegion: While on his own turf. Otherwise, he uses an equally creepy whisper.
* WhateverHappenedToTheMouse: He is not shown outside the first movie, his role as the Satan stand-in filled by either Red or Belladonna.
* WreathedInFlames: He emerges out of the fires of Hell and appears as a fiery cloud when he comes to claim Charlie's soul.
* YourSoulIsMine: In the extended version of his first appearance, he declares this as he lunges at Charlie through the river of lava.

[[folder:Kate and Harold]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Earleen Carey (Kate) and Rob Fuller (Harold)
->'''First Appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven'' (1989)
->'''Last appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven'' (1989)

A kindly married couple who care for Anne-Marie.
----
* BabiesEverAfter: Downplayed. [[spoiler:The ending of the first movie heavily implies that they adopted Anne-Marie]].
* HappilyMarried: Implied. Their relationship isn't expanded on, but the few times they are shown onscreen together suggests this trope. Harold keeps a picture of their wedding in his wallet, they are shown lovingly intertwined with each other at the park, and hold each other whenever they talk or for comfort.
* MamaBear: Kate's maternal instincts for Anne-Marie show when asking the latter about her living conditions when they first meet and when the young girl comes to her and Harold's home. Once Kate becomes aware, she then tells her husband they can't let her go back in such conditions. [[spoiler:When Itchy brings Anne-Marie's rabbit toy as a sign that the girl needs help in the climax, Kate and [[PapaWolf Harold]] immediately rush to where she is along with calling the police and ambulance]].
* NiceGuy: Both of them have shown to be kind and sweet people.
* PapaWolf: When his wife states that they can't let Anne-Marie go back to such ill living conditions, he immediately agrees with her and starts suggesting accommodations for the young girl. [[spoiler:When Itchy brings Anne-Marie's rabbit toy as a sign that the girl needs help in the climax, he and [[MamaBear Kate]] immediately rush to where she is along with calling the police and ambulance]].
* PinkGirlBlueBoy: Mostly shown in their pajama garb -- Kate still wears all pink while Harold is all blue.
* PinkMeansFeminine: Kate's outfits all are pink, she wears pink nail polish, and has a classic feminine design.

->'''Voiced by:''' Adam Wylie
->'''First appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven 2'' (1996)
->'''Last appearance:''' "All Dogs Go to Heaven: The Series'' (1996 – 1998)

A lonely 8-year-old human boy and Sasha's owner. He believes that Charlie and Itchy are his guardian angels sent to get him back home.
----
* TheArtfulDodger: Seriously. The way he and his dogs broke Gabriel's horn out of the Lost and Found station was awesome!
* CheerfulChild: Like Anne-Marie before him, he begins to show his brighter side after befriending Charlie.
* ChildProdigy: David's an 8-year-old kid and a talented amateur magician.
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: To Anne-Marie. Both are the main human characters after Charlie, who act something of a MoralityPet and even surrogate child to the wild canine. Anne-Marie was an orphaned girl before being HappilyAdopted, had an ability to understand animals, and never saw Charlie again after his HeroicSacrifice. David ran away from home because he believed his stepmom didn't like him, is a talented amateur magician, didn't have the innate ability to talk to animals, and adopted Charlie and Sasha at the end of the sequel.
* InnocentBlueEyes: David's blue eyes match his friendly, cheerful demeanor.
* NiceGuy: David is a kind, brave, and heroic individual.
* ParentalAbandonment: Subverted. His birth mother passed away, and he's having trouble adjusting to his stepmom because he thinks she dislikes him. Thankfully, he's proven wrong at the end.
* ParentWithNewParamour: David was under the belief that his stepmother didn't love him and ran away some time after learning she and his father were having another baby.
* TheRunaway: He ran away from home under the notion his family didn't want him. Thankfully, he's proven wrong as they both greatly miss and have been frantically looking for him since.
* StageMagician: The boy's surprisingly gifted with cards and other assorted tricks common with the magician trade, though the only time he's seen dressing as one is during his song number "Easy Street".
* StrongFamilyResemblance: David looks like a younger, shorter version of his father.

->'''Voiced by:''' George Hearn
->'''First appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven 2'' (1996)
->'''Last appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven 2'' (1996)

A powerful demon cat from Hell and the main antagonist. He wants to imprison the dogs of Heaven and drag them into Hell.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorWildlife: A ''red'' demonic cat.
* BigBad: Of the sequel, seeking to use Gabriel's horn to trap all the angels of Heaven and drag them to Hell.
* CardCarryingVillain: He has a VillainSong about how much he loves being a heartless evil monster. Justified, as he's a literal demon.
* CatFolk: He's a cat, and also a demon.
* CatsAreMean: He's a demonic cat who firmly believes that EvilFeelsGood.
* ColorfulThemeNaming: His name is Red, and he certainly is red.
* DealWithTheDevil: One of his modius operandi. Part of his plan was a BatmanGambit to get Charlie hung up on his 'flesh-and-blood' collar so that when it vanished, he'd trade Gabriel's Horn for another.
* EvilFeelsGood: He has a [[VillainSong song about it]]!
* EvilIsHammy: Voiced by hammy Broadway star, George Hearn of ''Theatre/SweeneyToddTheDemonBarberOfFleetStreet'' fame.
* EvilerThanThou: He is disgusted with Carface's plan to simply commit bank robberies with Gabriel's Horn, dismissing such crimes as nothing but "entry-level wickedness." The core of this seems to be Carface is motivated by {{Greed}} while Red himself is motivated by [[ForTheEvulz evil for the sake of evil]].
%%%* GlowingEyesOfDoom
* KillItWithWater: [[spoiler:His weakness, apparently due to being a demon. FridgeBrilliance also kicks when you remember [[CatsHateWater he's a cat]]]].
* ObviouslyEvil: Ignoring his appearance, his phone number is 1-800-BRIMSTONE. And Carface was surprised when the guy turns into a devil cat...
* OneWingedAngel: At the climax of the film, he transforms into a gigantic demonic version of himself, seemingly his true form.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: When in his bloodhound form, and when he grows into his giant form at the end.
* SatanicArchetype: He's a demon that makes deals with people in exchange for their souls, and wants to drag all the dogs in Heaven down to Hell. He is implied to be [[RightHandCat the actual Satan's pet]] (Charlie mentions at one point that "[[YouHaveFailedMe his BOSS yanked his leash]]"...)
* TheShadowKnows: Even when disguised as a dog, he still has [[RedRightHand retractile claws]] and his shadow is that of a monstrous cat.
* WhateverHappenedToTheMouse: Similar to the Hellhound, Red disappears after his one appearance, with it left unmentioned how Carface escaped him in favour of Belladonna in the TV series. The only mention of him in the series at all is Carface and Killer using his old shop as a base.
* VillainBall: While proving to be an excellent and competent villain for most of the movie, he gets this in the end by [[spoiler: letting Charlie go free after getting his claws on Gabriel's horn]], then, when he's captured all the dogs in heaven, he decides to pull an island down to Hell, [[spoiler: surrounding it in water; his only [[KillItWithWater weakness]].]]
* VillainSong: "It Feels So Good to Be Bad". He also has a much shorter reprise later on.
* VoluntaryShapeshifter: Is able to disguise himself as a bloodhound. During his VillainSong, he does a BitByBitTransformation back into his true form as a reveal.

[[folder:Sasha LaFleur]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/flirty_sasha.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Music/SheenaEaston
->'''First appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven 2'' (1996)
->'''Last appearance:''' ''An All Dogs Christmas Carol'' (1998)

A beautiful Irish Setter, serene lounge singer and Charlie's love interest in the sequel.
----
* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: Despite claiming she wants a sophisticated, intelligent, respectful and romantic dog to be her man, she also admits that part of the reason she's attracted to Charlie is because he's a swaggering, charismatic rogue.
* AmbiguousSyntax: She tells Charlie she's "got a kid" in an effort to get rid of him. Charlie interprets this as her being a single mother, only to discover that said kid is ''human'' ("She's got a ''kid'' kid!").
* AnguishedDeclarationOfLove: She sadly does a mutual LoveConfession with Charlie in the sequel because they both think he's being sent back to Heaven for good. Thankfully, Annabelle allows him to return.
* BilingualBonus: Her last name is French for "the flower." Like a flower, she's very beautiful.
* TheChanteuse: Canine example. She earns her living this way in order to provide for David, a runaway young boy whom she's developed a close fondness for.
* DeadpanSnarker: Whenever a character (usually Charlie) does or says something that annoys her, she'll respond with biting wit.
* DefrostingIceQueen: In a manner of speaking. Charlie doesn't exactly make a great first impression on her, as he spends most of their early scenes together more-or-less sexually harassing her (feeding her cheesy pickup lines, following her home, tricking her into ''kissing him''), so she understandably can't stand him at first. Through the events of the film, especially with how he helps her take care of David, she sees his better qualities and eventually falls for him.
* DoesNotLikeMen: Her entire introduction song "Count Me Out" is about how she's not interested in a relationship. Presumably, she dislikes most of the male dogs she's met because most of them are jerks. Charlie is initially no exception, but she warms to him once his nobler qualities start to come on display.
* EarsAsHair: Her ears hang like human hair and she treats them the same way, even flicking one of them behind her head with a casual paw swipe, with them sometimes dipping in front of her eyes, particularly when she's being sultry.
* HeadTurningBeauty: Is this trope to canines as evidenced during her debut song ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOywt8FGurQ Count Me Out]]''. Her entire musical number is drowned out by the onslaught of cat-calls and wolf-whistles she gets from her male audience.
* IconicSequelCharacter: She was absent in the first movie, though after debuting in the second movie, she stuck as a main character in the TV series.
* InformedSpecies: Is stated to be an Irish Setter, but looks more like a Saluki.
* InnocentSoprano: Courtesy of her voice actress Sheena Easton.
* LyricalDissonance: Her entire musical act is a silky, seductive number with lyrics that say, in a no shortage of ways, "Go away and leave me alone."
* PaleFemalesDarkMales: Sasha's fur color is noticeably lighter than Charlie's
* PluckyGirl: Maybe not ManicPixieDreamGirl level of optimism, but she's nonetheless optimistic despite her less-than-ideal life as a street dog, going out of her way to care for a runaway human child without expecting anything in return. She even perks Charlie up when she senses his depression, leading to their FallingInLoveMontage.
* TalkingAnimal: Albeit plot enforced. [[SpeaksFluentAnimal Anne-Marie aside]], the only dogs that can talk to humans are the spirits from the afterlife. This means Charlie and Itchy can talk to David, but Sasha can't, though Charlie shortly uses up his emergency "miracle" to bestow this power onto her so she isn't locked out of the conversation.
* TheTease: Acts as one while performing in the bar, singing with a sultry voice, [[ShakingTheRump shaking her butt]], pulling a MarilynManeuver by using a vent in the floor, and getting up close and personal with the male audience. Subverted in that it's AllPartOfTheShow. She'll flirt and flounce during her musical number, but isn't otherwise flirtatious.

->'''Last appearance:''' ''An All Dogs Christmas Carol'' (1998)

A crippled puppy who nevertheless doesn't complain about it. He is Martha's pet.
----
* {{Expy}}: He's based off of Tiny Tim from the original ''A Christmas Carol''.
* MoralityChain: To Carface. Timmy is a pup who is put in jeopardy by Carface's greed in the third film, which is ultimately what convinces him to perform his HeelFaceTurn and save Christmas. He even yells [[AndThisIsFor "This is for Timmy!"]] when he destroys Belladonna's machine, showing how important the little guy ended up being to him.
* MoralityPet: He ends up being this to Carface.
* NiceGuy: A sweet puppy.

[[folder:Belladonna]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/belladonna.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Bebe Neuwirth
->'''First appearance:''' ''All Dogs Go to Heaven: The Series'' (1996 – 1998)
->'''Last appearance:''' ''An All Dogs Christmas Carol'' (1998)

Annabelle's evil cousin.
----
* AffablyEvil: She appears as courteous when she appears in each episode.
* BadBoss: During [[VillainSong "I Always Get Emotional At Christmas Time"]], she puts her minions through quite a bit of abuse. Carface and Killer sometimes suffer for her worst moods as well.
* {{Bowdlerize}}: Does she ever say "Hell"? No. She's Anabelle's evil counterpart, and Anabelle is from Heaven. But then again, can you imagine her appearing in the hell sequence of the original? She is however, stated to serve “the Other Side”, which is assumed to be Hell.
* BigBad: Of the ChristmasSpecial and serves as close to a BigBad as the series got after she showed up.
* BlackmailIsSuchAnUglyWord: When Anabelle calls her 'doggone bad', she replies she's not bad, she's 'morally challenged'.
* CardCarryingVillain: She's working for the same side as Red, this is a given.
* TheCorrupter: Most of her appearances revolve around trying to lure Charlie to her side.
* EqualOpportunityEvil:
-->'''Belladonna''': Think of my organization as an equal opportunity employer. No matter who you are or what you want to be; when you join with me, it's always an easy ride.
* EvilSoundsDeep: Bebe Neuwirth uses her deep voice as Belladonna in the TV series and the Christmas special.
* EvilerThanThou: Much like Red, when she shows up the heroes are well aware that she's way worse than Carface is and consider her a much bigger threat than him. Shows in the ''Christmas Carol'': Carface didn't realize until it was nearly too late than Belladonna's plan wasn't just to ruin Christmas, but ruin the lives of every dog in the city, which would've resulted in at least one death ([[WouldHurtAChild and of a child at that]]). [[EvenEvilHasStandards Carface is actually horrified by this.]] She shows on multiple occasions to be every bit as murderous as Carface was in the first film (including attempting to run a dog through a dog food making machine) but [[RealityWarper much much stronger]].
* EvilLaugh: Has a pretty nice one.
* EvilIsEasy: Has an entire VillainSong devoted to telling Charlie this trope.
* EvilTwin: Well, ''cousin'', technically, but she and Annabelle look near-identical despite being polar opposites.
* FallenAngel: While not outright stated, she replies to Annabelle telling Charlie to think of heaven while trying to pull him back from Belladonna's tempting that she's 'flown there done that', implying she was an angel before becoming a demon.
* FinalBoss: Is the final villain in the franchise, serving as the antagonist for the later parts of the TV series and the GrandFinale Christmas special.
* ForTheEvulz:
** Anything she does that isn't to lure Charlie to her side or get one over on her cousin (and possibly even that too) is this.
** When Annabelle first describes how Belladonna's goal is to ruin her Heavenly organization, the latter replies that "a girl needs a hobby," which implies that she really is just doing it for fun.
* GoodWingsEvilWings: While Anabelle is sometimes depicted with angelic wings, Belladonna has demonic wings. She also seems to get much more use out of hers.
* HellBentForLeather: She wears a leather jacket wherever she goes.
* {{Hellhound}}: While her cousin is an angel, she's a demon.
* IconicSequelCharacter: She not only debuts in the follow-on TV series, but in its second season premiere. She is nonetheless iconic for being the one recurrent BigBad from the afterlife and the FinalBoss of the franchise.
* KillItWithIce: Her weakness is to cold, but due to how strong she is it took getting an extremely large amount dropped on her to defeat her. Still counts though, and her {{Mooks}} turn to ash on contact with light snow.
* LaughablyEvil: Though still rather threatening and malicious, she's far more over-the-top and flamboyent than the Hellhound or even fellow LargeHam Red, and takes part in the cartoon antics far more often than they do. Her final plan is even aimed around [[TheGrinch ruining Christmas]] (albeit with a ''major'' NotSoHarmless detail).
* MadeOfTemptation: Her first try at getting Charlie on her side, by offering him all the meat he can eat (as well as an easier path, but meat was the main thing).
* MagicMirror: Belladonna can use reflective surfaces in a similar method to Annabelle.
* ManipulativeBastard: Compared to the Hellhound or Red, who both try and fail to unfairly take souls that aren't forsaken, Belladonna is savvy enough to try and make her targets look like bad dogs, be it by tempting them to her side willingly or framing them as such, thus legally her's to take with Annabelle unable to object.
* {{Mooks}}: Fire Imps in the ChristmasSpecial, though Carface and Killer normally fill this role for her (though Carface somewhat got promoted to TheDragon status in the third film).
* MeaningfulName: Named for the belladonna flower, aka "deadly nightshade." Like the character, it has a pretty-sounding name and an appealing bluish-purple color, but is deathly toxic.
* OneWingedAngel: Transforms into a giant Naga-like creature to try and kill Carface after his HeelFaceTurn. However, she took her eyes off her cousin and ended up defeated pretty quickly because of it.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: [[NotUsingTheZWord Usually described as a]] "witch" instead, but the [[MoralGuardians executives]] aren't fooling anyone, what with her infernal attributes, corrupting influence, implication of being a FallenAngel...
* PlayingWithFire: Because she's a demon. She can use sufficiently large enough flames to go between Hell and Earth.
* RealityWarper: A low level one.
* SatanicArchetype: Belladonna, like Satan is a FallenAngel who is manipulative and charismatic, and tempts souls into doing bad. In fact, this portrayal is a closer parallel to the Biblical Satan than the Hellhound and Red as {{Big Red Devil}}s. In this case, she's a more mundane being compared to Red, as Satan is often said to take the form of something innocent. Like Red, she’s implied to be another servant of Satan himself.
* SdrawkcabName: Sort of; her name reverses the ''syllables'' of Annabelle's name, not the letters.
* SoLastSeason: She boasts being immune to Annabelle's miracle powers, meaning she can't easily neutralise her the same way she did the Hellhound. Annabelle still wins their one physical confrontation however, exploiting her weakness to the cold.
* UncannyFamilyResemblance: She's Anabelle's cousin but outside of the leather vest, wings and color, they look more like twins.
* VillainHasAPoint: In her debut episode, Annabelle doesn't want to see Charlie fall to the dark side again, and proclaims she won't let Belladonna take him. However, Belladonna reminds her that Annabelle believes in giving others free will. Annabelle concedes her cousin is right; she'd be violating her own principles if she attempted to deny letting Charlie go along with Belladonna, and she's too good to do so.
* VillainSong: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVumMflznlU "Take the Easy Way Out"]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9Mc_PqKRMU "I Always Get Emotional At Christmas Time".]]
* VillainTakesAnInterest: She immediately becomes bent on making Charlie her subject, either by manipulation or force.
* VillainousBreakdown: Flying into a homicidal rage is her normal manner of dealing with her plan falling through.
* WeCanRuleTogether: Since her first appearance, she's wanted Charlie to work for her team, and has gone to great lengths to do so.
* WouldHurtAChild: Her plan in the ''Christmas Carol'' would've directly resulted in the death of a crippled puppy, and no matter what she intended to get him thrown out of his house and onto the streets. Notably this is a line even Carface didn't want to cross (albeit part because his own background made him relate to the pup).
