->Voiced by: Creator/MasamiKikuchi (JP); Creator/ScottSimpson (EN - OVA), Creator/TonyOliver (EN - Movie, Mini-Goddess), Creator/DrewAaron (EN - TV)

A student of the Nekomi Institute of Technology and a member of the NIT Motor Club. One day Keiichi accidentally dials the Goddess Relief Office. After summoning Belldandy by accident, he ends up wishing for her to be by his side forever. Ever since, the two have been together. Keiichi's pure and innocent personality also puts him in the middle of an unusual love relationship. While he understands his love for Belldandy, he sometimes has a difficult time expressing his feelings.

Originally from Kushiro, Hokkaido in northern Japan, Keiichi is a very skilled mechanic and an exceptional race driver. He is [[spoiler:bestowed the directorship of the Motor Club, which he subsequently passed on to Sora Hasegawa. At the point he was ''supposed'' to have graduated (but turned out to be one class short), he started working at the repair shop Whirlwind owned by the NIT Motor Club's founder, Chihiro Fujimi. He later picked up the one class and actually graduated many chapters later (although we still never actually ''see'' him graduate).]]

* AccidentalPervert: Every once in a while, Keiichi becomes one which can be attributed to either pure accident or somebody who pulls the strings in order to make Belldandy jealous and dishearten her enough to leave Keiichi and go back to Heaven. Most of the time it's played for comedy, as Belldandy trusts Keiichi's loyalty to her. But when it's played seriously, it's played ''dead'' seriously, if Belldandy's jealousy storms are of any indication.
* BadassNormal: During the Lind arc, Keiichi [[spoiler:demonstrated that, thanks to having [[ThePowerOfLove received love]] from [[SupportingHarem multiple goddesses]], he is one of the few mortals capable of supporting an angel. [[UpToEleven And the guy pulls it TWICE.]]]]
** BadassBiker: He's the best racer at Nekomi until Chihiro shows up, especially when riding his bike with Belldandy on the sidecar.
* BigBrotherInstinct:
** In ''First End'', [[spoiler:Keiichi dies saving Megumi from a car accident]]. Peorth even argues that this is what drove him.
** In the anime, Skuld realizes that she has this kind of relationship with Keiichi in the episode where she accidentally grows up. In the rest of the media, this is the way it goes whenever she's not mad at him.
* BiggusDickus: Implied in the TV series. When Mara first showed up and turned Keiichi into a scooter (for kicks) after Belldandy and Urd caught her, they made her give them the demonic password to turn Keiichi back to normal. When Keiichi came back...naked... Belldandy blushed bright red, while Urd just looked down and grinned with an interested "Hmmm....". Given [[FemmeFatale Urd's personality]], it's likely if Keiichi didn't have one of these, she'd have poked fun at him for it.
* BrotherSisterIncest: Played with and ultimately subverted. While under the effects of a botched potion made by Peorth, [[ButtMonkey poor old Keiichi]] has not only his sister Megumi crawling all over him, [[UpToEleven but Skuld and Urd as well...as well as Peorth herself in the anime.]] [[StatusQuoIsGod Naturally, once Bell steps in and nullifies the potion, everybody's back to normal.]]
* BrownEyes
* ButtMonkey: Occasionally, usually whenever something created by Urd, Skuld, Mara, Tamiya, Otaki or Chihiro is involved.
* CantGetAwayWithNuthin: Every time Keiichi has naughty thoughts about Belldandy, someone notices and promptly calls him out on it...if he doesn't do it himself.
* CannotSpitItOut: See ChasteHero below.
* ChasteHero: Has trouble even just saying "I love you" to Belldandy, much to everyone else's consternation. [[spoiler:This is due to Heaven altering Keiichi's mind so that he wouldn't lust after Belldandy to maintain the separation between divine beings and mortals even in the face of the contract that bound Belldandy to him. And Belldandy knew the entire time.]]
* ChastityCouple: With Belldandy.
* ChickMagnet: All the ladies show some interest in him at some point, bar Chihiro. It's not [[{{HaremGenre}} that kind of series]] though.
* CovertPervert
* DeadpanSnarker: As the OnlySaneMan, he has moments where he lets rip. Prevalent in the OVA.
* {{Determinator}}: [[BadassNormal Able to break out of situations where he shouldn't be able to out of sheer will]] and [[ThePowerOfLove love for Belldandy]] (such as when he was [[spoiler: possessed by the Lord of Terror]]). Also implied in one episode that this is how he's such a good racer - that is due to the training he puts himself through.
* FamedInStory: Keiichi has at the very least local fame at NIT, to much of his surprise. If Megumi is famous herself, it's partly due to Keiichi's exploits as well.
* ForgottenAnniversary: Incidentally subverted. He wasn't planning on it but he happened to [[spoiler:get married to Belldandy on his own birthday]]. No chance of forgetting that one.
* FunWithAcronyms: Gives himself the nickname of K-1 (Kei-ichi).
* GenreSavvy: Bordering on [[DangerouslyGenreSavvy dangerous]] levels at times. He nows enough from his experiences with the goddesses to qualify, along with having uncanny cleverness.
-->'''Keiichi:''' So, after this, there are terrifying assassins? And if we don't defeat them one by one, we can't collect the keys?\\
'''Eihwaz:''' ''How did you just say everything?''\\
'''Keiichi:''' That's absurd! I never thought it would be that clichéd.
* GirlOnGirlIsHot: Seeing Urd deep-kiss Belldandy (to remove a throat virus) caused Keiichi to [[HeroicBSOD blue screen]].
* GiveGeeksAChance: A motorcycle geek who gets the girl of everyone's dreams; of course, everyone else wonders just how the hell that even happened.
* GuileHero: Whenever he's in a dangerous situation, Keiichi's ability to think on the fly has saved him and the Goddesses multiple times over.
* InformedAbility:
** Speaks (or at least can understand) English, since he supposedly takes it as his foreign language class in school. Never gotten the chance to show so far though...outside of translations and dubs, obviously.
** Inverted during the fights with Halval, Thyrm and Hrungnir. He is able to assess the situation a formulate a plan of action with full understanding because of his knowledge of engineering and acoustics.
* InterspeciesRomance: [[RunningGag With Belldandy]].
* LivingLegend: A considerably tame example, Keiichi is famous in NIT for his exploits with the Motor Club and for his relationship with Belldandy, as the Professors Kakuta point out.
* MagicContractRomance: [[RuleOfThree With Belldandy]].
* MayflyDecemberRomance: [[OverlyLongGag With Belldandy]].
* MistakenForCheating: Happens to him a lot, either accidentally, via magical mishap or if another woman tries to actively pursue him. Fortunately he only has eyes for Belldandy. ''Unfortunately'', Belldandy's jealousy storms exists.
* NiceGuy: If Keiichi wasn't one of these, there would be no story in the first place. And many girls adore this genuinely NiceGuy, too.
* OnlySaneMan: Ends up having to play straight man to humans, gods and demons alike.
* QualityOverQuantity: [[spoiler:Belldandy put him in a restrictive contract that made him unable to lust for her for years because that would avoid calling the Gate of Judgement and the risk it carries of losing him forever. She was OK with this due to the lack of risks until she had to cancel the contract to save their lives, thus the Gate of Judgement was immediately called. Keiichi chooses to call this a miscommunication instead of assuming that Bellandy did this out of foul play]].
* RidiculouslyAverageGuy: As the result of a mild retcon.
* SuperDrowningSkills: Until he met the Lorelei, Keiichi didn't know how to swim. To put things in perspective, it took the accidental magical influence of a race of mermaids for him to be able to swim; he was ''that'' bad at it.
* TakingAdvantageOfGenerosity: He always draws the shortest stick in this respect, as people around him tend to abuse his good nature, even his friends. This is one of the reason Belldandy loves him, as he does not mind bearing the weight.
* UnderstandingBoyfriend: He has somewhat gotten used to the many complications that comes packaged with living with Belldandy and her two sisters.
** At least in the manga he says at one point that dealing with all the weirdness [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming is a small price to pay if it means he can be with Belldandy]].
* UnluckyEverydude: Keiichi started out as this, before eventually being developed into more of a NiceGuy. It would be difficult not to become nicer under the constant scrutiny of a divine being, though.
* VitriolicBestBuds:
** He is very much this with [[BadassMindsThinkAlike Chihiro]]. She's basically the older sister he never had.
** With Skuld, whenever she's not mad at him.
* WeirdnessMagnet: Comes part and parcel with having 3 goddesses living with you...not to mention [[spoiler:having the leaders of both Heaven AND Hell as in-laws by the end of the manga. Jeesh...guy's got it kinda rough]].
* YouMustBeCold: Subverted. Keiichi has a great tolerance to cold because he is from Hokkaido.

!!Angel: Holy Bell
->Voiced by: Creator/KikukoInoue (JP), Creator/AkemiOkamura (JP - Mini-Goddess eps 1-13), Creator/YumiTouma (JP - Young Belldandy in OVA), Creator/MioShionoiri (JP - Young Belldandy in movie); Creator/JulietCesario (EN - OVA), Creator/BridgetHoffman (EN - Movie, Mini-Goddess), Creator/ChloeThornton (EN - Young Belldandy in Movie), Creator/EileenStevens (EN - TV)

A goddess who ends up contractually bound to Keiichi Morisato after he accidentally dials the Goddess Relief Office. Ever since, Belldandy dwells with Keiichi at the Tariki Hongan Temple in the city of Nekomi, Chiba Prefecture (near Tokyo). She can cancel the contract at any time, but she states Keiichi is a special person in her heart, and that her purpose is to make him happy.

Belldandy is kind, patient, and warm, not only to Keiichi, but to everyone, without exception. She can easily sense other people's emotions, and tries her best to be empathetic to all those around her. However, even though Belldandy tries her best to be as kind as possible, it is revealed that at times, as a result of latent jealousy, she can become very insecure and sad, especially when she is confronted with an implication that involves Keiichi in one way or another. This can sometimes result in power leaks that affect everything within the vicinity, referred to as "[[{{Yandere}} a jealousy storm]]".

Belldandy is licensed as a goddess first-class, unlimited, and as such is highly skilled. Her power is so great, in fact, that she is required to wear a special earring on her left ear which constantly seals the full brunt of her magical strength. Belldandy's angel is Holy Bell; her elemental attribute is wind. Like all angels, Holy Bell augments Belldandy's magical powers when called upon, and like all angels, she also reflects her master's current state.

* AllLovingHeroine
* AlternativeContinuity: The mythical Norn Verðandi is a Jotun giantess and Valkyrie unrelated to the Aesir (the Norse pantheon). Though there are three main Norns, there are also numerous minor Norns that govern the fate of mortals.
* ApocalypseMaiden: In TheMovie. ''Twice''.
* BadassPacifist
* BashBrothers: When racing with bike and sidecar, Belldandy and Keiichi are this. Their synergy must be seen to be believed. Sadly, this only shows up in the manga.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: She was in love with Keiichi even before meeting him and went to Earth to fulfill his call; however, she did not expect to get stuck away from heaven due to said wish. She was upset about this early in the manga and it showed, though it worked for the better eventually.
* BerserkButton: Don't even TRY to screw with her Keiichi.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Seems nice enough, unless you piss her off or threaten Keiichi.
** Don't make her jealous either - if she's in ClingyJealousGirl mode, she subconsciously causes small explosions and freak weather changes.
** Oh and, don't threaten her either. Toshiyuki tried to rape her, and this got him tossed through a wall. With a [[BlowYouAway tornado]].
* BlowYouAway: her elemental affinity is wind.
* BreakTheCutie: In the movie. [[spoiler:She is so traumatized by Celestine's actions that her memory has to be erased.]]
* BroughtDownToNormal: She's not physically as strong or coordinated when she doesn't have her powers; she even pines at not being able to ''sing''. It is not outright stated if this extends to her preternatural capacity to excel in all earthly tasks, though it's implied. In hindsight, she argues that she would not like being as limited as a human.
* CannotTellALie: One of the restrictions of being a first class goddess.
** [[spoiler: However, that only means she can't tell direct lies. She CAN lie by dancing around the truth or withholding info...like in the very late manga where it's revealed that she knew about Heaven altering Keiichi's mind so he would not desire Belldandy sexually. This was the path of least resistance when she bound Keiichi in contract, as the Judgement Gate was a considerably riskier alternative that could have meant losing each other forever. All for the sake of being with him.]]
* ChildProdigy: As Welsper found out when they [[spoiler:performed their Doublet ceremony]], she could easily counter anything that he could throw at her when he was trying to prove her lowly compared to him.
* ClingyJealousGirl: She really is kind, compassionate and warm, but very possessive of Keiichi. She won't say or do anything... but just be prepared for magical feedback that can cause anything from minor explosions to freak weather changes, caused by her subconscious mind. She will ''only'' act if you straightforwardly make a move on Keiichi... and [[HolyShitQuotient HOLY SHIT]] will she act.
* CompellingVoice: Even in a world where most magic is based on song, Belldandy stands out for having this. It's so powerful that when performing at a karaoke tournament to support the NTI Motor Club, even '''Mara''' (who had been planning to take advantage of the event by converting the song into a demonic spell) was overcome by the feelings of bliss that ensnared the crowd while she sang. [[CrowningMomentOfFunny So much so that she joined everyone else to sign up for club membership.]]
* DeathGlare: When one threatens Keiichi, she tends to give one. [[spoiler:She can even scare her father with it. And her father's Tyr, the Almighty. Yeah.]]
* DePower: In several occasions:
** She becomes tremendously vulnerable when she gets sick;
** Welsper renders her powerless in order to destroy time;
** Hild removes Holy Bell from her in order to force a familiar inside;
** Eihwaz drains her power through a series of rigged rooms, though she ultimately fails; Hagall then drains her completely in the end;
** Subverted in ''First End''. [[spoiler:She finds herself powerless once she and her sisters restart the universe to keep Keiichi alive; she tries to heal an ancient tree that doesn't heed to her spells, but she eventually realizes that she's not actually powerless, only that nature won't obey her because she committed the sin of breaking the rules of reality by restarting the universe]].
* DissonantSerenity and TheStoic: Through most situations where another person or even Goddess would be pulling their hair. Even when angered she doesn't betray a sneer.
* TheDitz: For some reason she is even more ditzy when in her mini form (namely in the ''Mini Goddess'' 4koma, its animated adaptation and episode 26 of the Season 1 anime).
* DrunkOnMilk: One 12oz/355mL can and she's hammered.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness:
** Her first goddess outfit is heavily Indian-esque, with a forehead marking to match. Said marking changed sizes often to reflect her emotions.
** Relies on red lightning magic with no traces of [[BlowYouAway wind]] at all. See her entry for ShockAndAwe below.
** She was very outwardly emotional to the point of easily picking fights with Urd early on (granted, Urd means well but [[WithFriendsLikeThese is very unpleasant to be around at the beginning]]). It tones down when Skuld appears in the manga, as Belldandy's younger sister needs a role model to look up to. [[BewareTheNiceOnes She can still show anger]], but it is only reserved for situations [[BerserkButton where she is heavily provoked]].
* FamilyRelationshipSwitcheroo: By the way Urd and Skuld behave, she just might as well be the oldest sister out of the three.
* {{Fauxreigner}}: Most people that meet her think that she is a Westerner, and her mannerisms and customs are Scandinavian; early in the manga, Belldandy does admit that she's mostly familiar with Scandinavian cuisine until she begins to try more endemic dishes. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]] due to her being a Norse goddess.
* FingerlessGloves: While in her goddess outfits.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: And some unliving things, as well. See MachineEmpathy below.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Early in the manga when Belldandy and Keiichi first kiss, Keiichi is surprised at the unseemly fact that from nowhere thousands of flowers just sprouted around them; though he thinks nothing of it at the time, [[spoiler:during the Niflheim arc Belldandy uses the same tactic to be able to hide from Hagall and it's later revealed that the flowers are a reaction to the living contract that Belldandy had enacted initially upon Keiichi, rendering him unable to lust for her for years until the contract was dissolved at that very moment.]]
* GoGetterGirl: According to Urd and Skuld, Belldandy just [[ButForMeItWasTuesday collected Goddess licenses as a hobby]] before she met Keiichi; to put things into perspective, she is a Norn who also has the combative ability to have earned a Valkyrie's Silver Wings. This is part of the reason why Skuld never understood why Belldandy [[spoiler:settled for a lowly mortal down at the Earth when she used to be so much more in Heaven]]. Unpredictably, she excels in all earthly activities too.
* HairAntennae: Typically 4-6, but varies wildly in the early manga.
* HairColorDissonance: Belldandy's hair color varies over time, DependingOnTheArtist. Started dark purple in the manga which slowly turned grey and eventually settled with light brown while [[MulticoloredHair black and white]] are reserved for the majority of Heaven flashbacks. In animated adaptations however her hair is usually dirty blonde.
* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler:She goes catatonic before the events of the movie when she learns that her mentor Celestine turned traitor; it's so bad that they have to erase the memory for her to begin functioning again]].
* HomeSweetHome: She worked hard enough as a goddess for most of her life to earn herself a respite at the Earth without anyone batting an eye at Heaven. With Keiichi, they both built a home to live in and surrounded themselves in loyal friends and family. Damn anyone else if they don't let her go all "domestic".
* ImpossiblyCoolClothes: '''Everything she wears'''. She'd look gorgeous even dressed as the Michelin Man.
* ImprobableHairstyle: As a goddess, it's understandable that her hair is immaculate and impeccable; her ponytail, however, is idiosyncratic on its own and it's extremely rare to see it undone.
* IncorruptiblePurePureness: Defines the concept of a pure-hearted person.
** The definitive moment would probably be the Angel Eater arc. [[spoiler:Attempting to turn her evil by replacing her angel with a demon resulted in the demon being turned into an angel, at least until Welsper got ahold of her.]]
* InformedAbility: In addition to being a goddess, she also happens to be an [[WrenchWench engineering student]] at Nekomi Tech, although we hardly ever see her work with machines. Probably due to the fact that between Skuld, Megumi and Chihiro the series already has three [[WrenchWench wrench wenches]], not to mention Keiichi himself and the Auto Club as a whole. That said, during one emergency, she was able to upgrade Chihiro's small bike and turn it into a full blown ''superbike'' using parts from nearby crashed or junked vehicles, [[MomentOfAwesome while riding it]].
* TheIngenue: So sincere, naive, and nice that it ''hurts.'' One demon even comments that her niceness is a potent spiritual attack, and there are plenty of examples in the manga where it's been weaponized. It's also shown to be a method of deflection.
* InnocentBlueEyes
* InsecureLoveInterest: Despite being a goddess, she often asks Keiichi if she's good enough to be with him, usually if she suspects another woman is getting too friendly with him. And he constantly reminds her that she is. [[spoiler:In chapter 285 this is revealed to be partly because Belldandy was aware of Heaven's manipulation of Keiichi's mind when the contract was first made.]]
* InterspeciesRomance: With Keiichi.
* KickingAssInAllHerFinery: She is an incredible fighter who is always immaculately dressed. Even her battle suit could pass for a night dress.
* LadyOfWar: She's gentle, graceful, and uses a staff as a weapon. Her angel even uses a bow and arrow.
* LonelyAtTheTop: Being the tenet of support for Urd and Skuld means that they don't play with her the way they play with each other. She's actually jealous of the relationship between her sisters.
* LoveBeforeFirstSight: [[spoiler:Belldandy tells Keiichi she has been watching him (as part of her job) most of his life, and was in love with him before they ever met.]]
* LoveYouAndEverybody: Comes part and parcel with being a first class goddess. She is however willing to make an exception for Keiichi in that she will ''always'' choose him over everyone else, which she makes explicit even when she's drunk in Volume 15:
-->'''Belldandy:''' "If I had to choose between saving the world and saving Keiichi... I would save Keiichi."
* MachineEmpathy: This is how she deal with machines; she talks to them like an understanding friend and fixes their problems. As she stated; "Every last nut and bolt is like a friend to me". This is also the reason why Banpei is so attached to her despite not installed with an emotion program.
* MagicalGirlfriend: The [[Pantheon/{{Love}} Goddess]] of the trope. And rightfully so.
* MagicContractRomance: With Keiichi.
* MarriedToTheJob, ScrewThisImOuttaHere and RebelliousPrincess: All invoked. She used to be this before she met Keiichi (see GoGetterGirl). Now at Tarikihongan Temple, Belldandy is the only resident goddess who doesn't even show hints of doing any research or any intention of continuing her duties in Heaven and has been called out numerous times on this.
* MayflyDecemberRomance: With Keiichi.
* NeatFreak: She's ''very'' obsessed with cleaning and putting things in order. This reflects in her appearance, her approach towards everyday life and her problem-solving skills.
* NeverGetsDrunk: She could drink a distillery's worth of booze and not even hiccup. But keep her away from the [[DrunkOnMilk soda]].
* NiceGirl
* NotSoAboveItAll:
** Before Skuld showed up, Belldandy and Urd fought almost as often as Urd and Skuld would later do. She's also prone to wacky face faults back then, something that would usually be out-of-character for her to do as the resident YamatoNadeshiko.
** When it comes to racing her competitive streak rivals Keiichi's.
** In ''First End'', Belldandy [[spoiler:nearly destroys the universe to keep Keiichi alive]].
* OverwhelmingException: Keima (Keiichi's father) is afraid of most if not all women except his wife Takano... and Belldandy.
* ParentalSubstitute: Due to the huge age difference, their busy mother and Belldandy's status as TheReliableOne Skuld sees Belldandy as more like a mother than a big sister, which is probably why she is ''[[{{Understatement}} not okay]]'' with Keiichi "stealing" Bell away from her.
* ParrotExposition: Especially in the anime, she occasionally repeats whatever Keiichi is surprised about to reflect her [[IncorruptiblePurePureness purity]] and [[TheIngenue cluelessness on earthly customs]].
* PhysicalGoddess: Natch.
* PluckyGirl
* ThePollyanna: Invoked. She is very optimistic and positive, but she is not above worrying and she has clearly defined limits to her patience. She's very difficult to move, but she is most definitely not invulnerable.
* PowerLimiter: As with most high-level deities, Belldandy wears power-limiting jewelry...namely a double-clasp earring.
* PromotionToParent: Due to Ansuz' obligations, she was never around Belldandy or Skuld, so their raising depended largely on their own devices and the use of mentors (like Celestine); as such, Belldandy practically raised Skuld like her daughter, which is why her little sister is so protective of her.
* TheReliableOne: Is the most constantly responsible among the three sisters.
* ShesGotLegs: Belldandy is not nearly as showy as other characters in the manga, but her immaculate legs are shown to be the features that Keiichi most admires and ogles on her.
* ShockAndAwe: [[EarlyInstallmentWeirdness Early in the manga]] where Belldandy is more [[HotBlooded outwardly emotional]] red lightning orbs are prominent in her magic. Notable victims of Bell's lightning magic includes the Earth Spirit, [[MagicMisfire Keiichi]], Urd, Sayoko and Aoshima on separate occasions. This disappears once Mara is introduced where she started using wind magic instead.
* SingleTargetSexuality: Towards Keiichi.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: It ''should'' be [[Myth/NorseMythology Verðandi]]...and it was in certain translations.
* SpyCatsuit: Her riding leathers for when she's racing, all of which have some form of heart motif.
* TheThreeFacesOfEve: The calm, compassionate, and domestic Belldandy, goddess of the present, represents the wife.
* [[TurnOutLikeHisFather Turn Out Like Her Father]]: Hild argues that Belldandy's attitude and demeanor reminds her so much of Tyr that she finds it unnerving. This is one of the reasons Hild is both fond and resentful of Belldandy at the same time, and why she picks on her in particular.
* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: Several characters comment that Belldandy is terrifying when something threatens or demeans her boyfriend. They're not lying.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Out of all people, with Keiichi (even though they're supposed to be a couple). The guy is not even inches past first base with her, though their compatibility and love for each other goes past the ceiling. [[spoiler:Turns out, his lust for her has been artificially locked in place pretty much since they met because Belldandy didn't want to go through the Gate of Judgement, which poses the risk of losing each other forever]].
* YamatoNadeshiko: Despite being a ''[[ButNotTooForeign Norse]]'' Goddess, Belldandy embodies this trope to the fullest: sweet tempered, loving and devoted, gentle touch of inner iron, there's even a picture of her in a kimono on Images Links.
* ZettaiRyouiki: Class A in the OVA while wearing her race queen/pit girl outfit.

!!Angel: World of Elegance
[[caption-width:319:Click [[labelnote:here]] http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4f3cbff2b09b4381dba1a7d8217f4dda.jpg[[/labelnote]] to see Urd in the TV Anime]]
->Voiced by: Creator/YumiTouma (JP); Creator/LanelleMarkgraf (EN - OVA), Creator/MaryElizabethMcGlynn (EN - Movie), Creator/WendeeLee (EN - Mini-Goddess), Creator/ShannonConley (EN - TV)

Belldandy's older half-sister and is the second Goddess to appear to Keiichi. Urd ranks as Goddess second class, management category limited license, similar to her youngest sister Skuld. She is the Yggdrasil System Administrator and Manager. Though she is much more powerful than her sisters, she has not become a first class goddess, [[spoiler: most recently because she chose not to become a first class goddess so that she could continue to protect her sisters]]. Urd shares a common father with her younger sisters, but has a different mother, the [[{{Satan}} Daimakaicho, Hild]]. Because of this, Urd is a hybrid of Goddess and Demon, reflected in the half-white/half-black appearance of her Angel, World of Elegance. Her elemental attribute is fire and lightning.

Urd fancies herself a [[LoveGoddess Goddess of Love]], so she comes to Earth to spur Keiichi onward with love potions and well-meaning (but deceitful) advice. However, as punishment for deserting her post and for using her powers on Earth without authorization, The Almighty banishes her from Heaven until further notice. After being allowed to go back, she decides to stay on Earth instead.

* AbsoluteCleavage: A feature of most of her wardrobe.
* AdaptationDyeJob: Her goddess outfit is dark blue in most manga illustrations and the 1993 OVA, but in the TV anime and the movie it is purple.
* AlchemyIsMagic: To reflect her status as the Norn of the Past, Urd is shown to be a talented potion maker- justified because many cultures in the past began experimenting with alchemy.
* TheAlcoholic: Justified, alcohol is her main source of energy on Earth.
* AntagonisticOffspring: A mild example towards Hild. Deep down, though, Urd does love her.
* BigBreastPride: She's VERY proud of her large chest, to the point of having an "if you've got it, flaunt it" mentality and being occasionally accused of being a hooker. She even goes so far as to tease Skuld about it...never mind that she is physically a kid most of the time.
* BigSisterInstinct: Frequently pops up from time to time whenever Belldandy and Skuld are in danger. She is wiling to risk her life for her younger sisters.
* BrilliantButLazy: Urd's inherent powers are potentially leagues above those of her sisters and possibly any other deity except The Almighty and Hild, but she prefers to hang out with her siblings to watch over them and have some fun instead.
* BrokenBird: Due to her heritage. See NonhumanHumanoidHybrid, though.
* CannotSpitItOut: Cannot express any feelings of affection for her [[{{Satan}} mother]], in case her soul gets charmed by the devils.
* CannotTellALie: Averted! Part of the reason Urd refuses to become a first class goddess is[[spoiler: she believes that it's important that she retains the ability to tell a lie to protect those she loves]]. Notably, she has such a reputation for lying that even Belldandy can see through her.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: When Urd first appears in the manga she tries to rape Keiichi (which is played for comedy) in order to "advance" his knowledge of sex - her intent was to make him less fearful of approaching intimacy with her sister. She is also shown to be outright mean-spirited towards Skuld (who isn't a BrattyHalfPint during her first manga appearance). Post Volume 6, Fujishima softened her up quite a bit and made her less of an "Evil Big Sister" and more of a "[[CoolBigSis Cool Big Sister]]" character. To reflect this, his art style changed to make her less mean and jerky looking.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Urd's logic on how engines work can be a little bit off; in ''Mystical Engine'' she believes that they are powered by trolls. [[spoiler:Turns out TheCuckoolanderWasRight several pages later.]]
* ConsummateLiar: She is so good at lying that she [[spoiler:refuses to be promoted to a first class goddess so that she can use those talents it to protect her beloved ones and pair Keiichi and Belldandy together.]]
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: Keiichi brings Urd and Skuld an extra TV so they stop going at each other's throats, completely missing the fact that it's not the TV that they like as much as competing with each other.
-->'''Urd and Skuld''': It's fun because we win to watch.
* CoolAndUnusualPunishment: How Urd likes to deal with people, particularly [[BrattyHalfPint Skuld]] and [[{{Jerkass}} Aoshima]].
* CoolBigSis: Only develops into this in later adaptations and manga chapters, barring the movie where she's much more mature than average.
* DaddysGirl: Subverted. Being the daughter of the Daitenkaicho and the Daimakaicho has brought her very little advantage, though her relationship with her father is what it's implied to be the key to her being out of trouble in spite of her mistakes (though this extends to Belldandy and Skuld too). One of the problems she faced early on in her life was that as a half-goddess half-demon she was seen as a potential liability and given very little credit for her achievements and she only found consolation with her sisters and no one else.
* {{Dark Skinned Blond}}e: Well, white or silver-haired, but you get the idea.
* DeathGlare: [[http://store0.animea.net/2%2F187_XBHEF%2FAMG-v29-c187-117.png One of the things]] she gets from her [[{{Satan}} mom]].
* TheDreaded: Chrono nervously remembers Urd as '''The Exchanger Of Goals And Means''' and '''Heaven's 2nd Class Goddess Of Destruction'''. This carries overtones of an ominous reputation that Urd seems to have in the heavenly ranks.
* DrunkOnTheDarkSide: The one time Urd fully accessed her demonic magic caused...problems.
* FamilyRelationshipSwitcheroo: As indicated in Belldandy's entry above, Urd doesn't act like she's the oldest out of the three. She exhibits many second child traits and stereotypes, especially the rebellious aspects.
* FightingSpirit: Summoned a muscular genie to shoot rubber bands for her in the Great Rubber Band War against [[GadgeteerGenius Skuld's]] [[TankGoodness wooden tank]] and [[GreenThumb Peorth's makeshift vine railguns]].
* FingerlessGloves: One of the accessories she's worn over the years. Later they get swapped out for full-blown OperaGloves.
* {{Foil}}: Urd and Skuld are banes to one another and will spend every waking hour trying to one-up and upset each other in every way possible; they do this so much that it makes Belldandy jealous.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Many characters commented that Urd acted more like a demon than a goddess before her heritage was discovered.
* FountainOfYouth: For one episode, due to Yggdrasil's system malfunction [[spoiler: right after the Lord of Terror arc.]]
* TheGloriousWarOfSisterlyRivalry: Played with. Urd is the Beautiful Sister by default, but she is quite snarky sometimes and no intellectual slouch herself (unless machines are involved). She also tries to hook Keiichi and Belldandy together while Skuld tries to keep the two apart.
* GoodBadGirl: She's tried getting Keichi to be more assertive with Belldandy by getting him to have sex with her [[spoiler:even when she has full knowledge of the restrictions imposed to Keiichi towards feeling any lust towards Belldandy; it seemed that she did it in the eventuality that the contract would be broken by doing so, which it didn't until Belldandy lifted it]].
* GoodIsNotSoft: Even when separated from her demon self, full-Goddess!Urd still strikes Keiichi with a thunderbolt for staring at her during a PantyShot (courtesy of Skuld who stamped a marking on her behind to differentiate Goddess!Urd from Demon!Urd)
* GracefulLadiesLikePurple: Her default outfits in the anime are mostly of this color.
* GratuitousForeignLanguage: Can at the very least, say "I love you" in multiple languages.
* HairTriggerTemper: Especially in the early parts of the manga, Urd is very easy to anger. She mellows down post-Lord of Terror though.
* HardDrinkingPartyGirl: She is very sociable and alcoholic.
* HopelessWithTech: Being a {{foil}} to [[GadgeteerGenius Skuld]] and to reflect her status as the Norn of the Past Urd is this, normally Type 2. She does well with the Yggdrasil system though; she is even the system administrator. It's the mechanical stuff that she has problems with, which stands out more because [[TechnologyPorn sophisticated machinery]] [[AuthorAppeal is a common feature in the series]].
* HotBlooded: Is extremely passionate and fiery in many things she does; Skuld assumes her to be foolish due to this trait of hers.
* [[IAmNotMyFather I Am Not My Mother]]: Though deep down she finds Hild cool, she is seriously against returning to Hell with her or going full demon.
* ImmortalImmaturity: Can be just as bratty as Skuld.
* LabcoatOfScienceAndMedicine: It fits her potion-making talents, she even wears them when she isn't making any.
* LadyOfBlackMagic: She has the [[GracefulLadiesLikePurple graceful appearance]], elemental affinities of [[PlayingWithFire fire]] and [[ShockAndAwe lightning]], and an [[GuardianAngel Angel]] named "World of Elegance". However, she doesn't have the composure, instead being headstrong, short-tempered, and bratty.
* LoveGoddess: Or so she fancies herself to be. Almost if not all of her attempts at planning this result in [[HilarityEnsues trouble for whoever she tries helping]], usually poor old Keiichi.
* MakeUpIsEvil: She is depicted with heavy sharp mascara and deep red lipstick when she was posessed by the Lord of Terror. The same applies to her demon self when it is separated from her in a later arc. In the case of the latter it wears off when she went undercover so that Keiichi and Belldandy cannot tell the difference between her and full-goddess!Urd.
* MidAirBobbing: Prefers to float rather than sitting on furniture.
* MsFanservice: Provides most of the fanservice in the series with her voluptuous figure and revealing outfits, and she's fully aware of it.
* MysticalWhiteHair
* NoblewomansLaugh: Can pull this just like her mother.
* NonhumanHumanoidHybrid: Half-demon on her mother's side. Subverted in that there doesn't seem to be any prejudice on either side and most of the angst comes from Urd herself coming to terms with her demon ancestry, though one flashback to Urd's past in volume 30 showed that some lesser unnamed goddesses might have had a problem with it.
* NotSoDifferent: From both Skuld and Hild.
* NotSoAboveItAll:
** She's really, ''really'' proud of being Hild's daughter and she finds her extremely cool, only that she cannot say it out loud for fear of turning into a demon.
** She's willing to cheat and lie not only for the sake of her sisters, but also for Keiichi.
* OnlySaneWoman: [[CharacterDevelopment Surprisingly gets moments of this every now and then]]. Keiichi is still the main one with her around.
* ParentWithNewParamour: Her parents were forcibly separated by the Gate of Judgement, though he later married Ansuz and had Urd's sisters with her. Urd and Ansuz get along just fine, as Ansuz argues that having Urd was more than worth the risk her parents had to go through to create her.
* PercussiveMaintenance: A firm believer of this trope.
** In ''I'm the Campus Queen'' she kicked the bike she's supposed to repair due to her frustration of [[HopelessWithTech not knowing how to fix them]] and being left behind by other contestants. This technique actually works in her favor.
** She also tried to do this in order to fix Banpei, who anxiously waited for his "girlfirend" to be given sentience by Skuld. Amusingly Urd's hand gets hurt by Banpei's helmet.
* PhysicalGoddess
* PlayingWithFire: She can also cast fire magic, though usually via World of Elegance's aid.
* PrettyFreeloaders: Along with her younger sister Skuld.
* {{Qipao}}: An outfit she's commonly seen wearing.
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: She's quite aware of her status as MsFanservice, and happily shows off at every opportunity.
* ShipperOnDeck: Actively ships everyone and everything she sees fit, namely Keiichi/Belldandy, Skuld/Sentaro (to some extent) and Banpei/Sigel. Her strained relationship with Troubadour probably took part in it.
* SideEffectsInclude: Though she fancies herself a LoveGoddess, Urd is more given to potions and pharmacology. Unsurprisingly, none of the stuff she concocts works like it's supposed to most of the time and it's even worse when she's not consulted about it.
* ShockAndAwe: This is one of Urd's elemental affinity, so throwing lightning bolts everywhere is her go-to move, usually whenever something ticks her off. Her ultimate move also involves summoning a magic circle conjuring a violent lightning storm.
* SpannerInTheWorks: She and Skuld really like to help Keiichi are always the first ones to jump the gun for him in his endeavors, though they always end up causing more harm than good
* StatuesqueStunner: She's not really that tall, but she ''is'' the tallest resident in the temple. She also happens to be drop-dead gorgeous.
* TheTease: Rivals Peorth in this department.
* TheThreeFacesOfEve: The flirty, fiery, half-demon Urd, goddess of the past, represents the seductress.
* TricksterMentor: Acts as one to Keiichi when it comes to his love story.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With her youngest sister Skuld. Used to be this with Mara, and still shows shades of it.
* WeaksauceWeakness: As she's part demon, she has a weakness to a genre of music. Depending on the version, it's either Austrian polkas or more often, Japanese enka.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: She often does more damage than good. Whenever she's not trying to amuse herself, she can be somewhat reliable. The only person that finds her completely trustworthy when it counts, out of all people, is Skuld (not even Belldandy).

!!Angel: Noble Scarlet
[[caption-width:315:Click [[labelnote:here]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ahmygoddessskuld.jpg[[/labelnote]] to see Skuld in the TV Anime]]
->Voiced by: Creator/AyaHisakawa (JP); Creator/PamelaWeidner (EN - OVA), Creator/SherryLynn (EN - Movie, Mini Goddess), Creator/KetherDonohue (EN - TV)

The younger sister of Belldandy, and is the third Goddess to appear to Keiichi Morisato. Skuld has a Goddess second class, type one, limited license: a category similar to her eldest sister, Urd. Skuld is one of Yggdrasil's system debuggers. She compensates for her lack of magic power with her innate talent for invention, which is known throughout Heaven. Skuld is an engineering genius, capable of building just about anything out of the most mundane parts under most limited resources. She can compute equations and redesign even the most complex engineering blueprints in no time.

She travels to Earth after Belldandy's proximity to Keiichi started creating an increasing number of bugs in Heaven's supercomputer Yggdrasil. At least that was her official excuse, as she believed Belldandy was living with Keiichi against her will. She tried to convince Belldandy to return to Heaven to resolve the bug problem and at the same time with the ulterior motive of alleviating her loneliness. After realizing that Belldandy's relationship with Keiichi was not going to end any time soon, Skuld decides to stay on Earth and act as Belldandy's unofficial chaperone.

* BadLiar: She's nowhere as experienced as Urd in that respect, so every time she resorts to lying, it comes crushing down on her like a house of cards.
* BerserkButton:
** "Don't treat me like a little kid, ok?"
** Criticizing her inventions also nets the same reaction from her.
* CatSmile: Gives a ''very'' mischievous one towards [[spoiler:the diskette-bound Lord of Terror before she erases him with a magnet.]]
* ChildrenAreInnocent: She might not be a child proper, but she is indeed much younger in mind and experience than her sisters and their friends. When the Gate of Heaven prompts Keiichi to [[VisualInnuendo insert the giant key in her chest keyhole]], all that innuendo is actually lost on Skuld, [[http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FKIlt995TCQ/T_D0JusZQXI/AAAAAAAACZI/gegv1OeFVjw/001.png?imgmax=3000 who is just making]] [[http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LSxfHXNIyas/T_D0K9AgftI/AAAAAAAACZg/1H_RvM1whuw/004.png?imgmax=3000 a confused expression filled with worry]]. Keiichi, Urd and Peorth are red as beets, while Belldandy has one of her jealously outbursts.
* ClingyJealousGirl: In a sisterly manner towards Belldandy.
* CripplingOverspecialization: Played with: Skuld ''can'' use magic, which she mainly uses to build her gadgets; it's shown that this magic is so powerful that it can overcome Hrungnir's nullification, which neither Belldandy nor Urd can flank. While she's practicing her elemental manipulation powers with water, Skuld shows that her abilities are enormous if unsupervised by either Urd or Belldandy
* CryCute: Occasionally when she's not blowing off her fuse she resorts to crying instead, most notably during the episode where Urd calls Banpei useless.
* CuteBruiser: By default since she couldn't use her magic [[spoiler:until she fell for Sentaro and it started to develop]].
* DeadpanSnarker: Has her moments in her early appearances (where Urd's recklessness and HairTriggerTemper is at its peak) and ''Flights of Fancy''.
* DependingOnTheWriter: Skuld's jealousy towards Keiichi and Belldandy's relationship varies every chapter and adaptation; most of the time she butts in from the word go to stop them but it tones down when there are more pressing matters (understandable), when it is her [[CharacterDevelopment focus episode]] or when it [[WhyDidItHAveToBeSnakes involves ghosts]].
* TheDreaded: As in Urd's entry of this trope, Chrono jumps back at the presence of Skuld while scowling; much like Urd, Skuld also seems to have an ominous reputation in heaven.
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: To much of her chagrin, people treat her like a 12 year old because not only she looks the part but also (unbeknownst to her) she acts the part as well. It doesn't quite matter that she is thousands of years old because she is not in the very least magnanimous about her own situation.
* {{Foil}}:
** To Urd as mentioned in her entry.
** She is this to Hrungnir. They are both overtly proud [[GadgeteerGenius Gadgeteer Geniuses]] and the little sisters of tremendously powerful beings which they love unconditionally. Incidentally, they both use red battle suits.
* GadgeteerGenius: To reflect her status as the Norn of the Future. She's turned an advertisement manikin with that just repeats the same sentence over and over into a fully functioning robot with human level intelligence.
* TheGloriousWarOfSisterlyRivalry: Played with. Skuld is the more recluse Smart Sister by default but she also has her bratty moments. She also tries to keep Keiichi and Belldandy apart while Urd tries to hook them together.
* {{Hammerspace}}: She can stuff infinite amount of bombs bigger than her fists, batteries and remote controllers inside her shirt.
* HatesBeingAlone: The main reason she showed up at Tarikihongan in the first place is because her sisters left her alone in Heaven. Though she is extremely runty and proud, she is shown to enjoy the company and friendship of most people she meets as long as they don't treat her as a kid. In particular, she is utterly terrified of being left alone in a fight because of her underdeveloped powers.
* HeroInTraining: She is in the road to become one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful goddess in Heaven according to Urd; that is, if she's able to keep her pride in check. It's shown that both Urd and Belldandy are actively working on her, though they are cautious in not filling her with ideas, seeing that Skuld is already very cocky.
* IdiotHair: Only one strand, as oppposed to Belldandy's 4-6.
* InvertedTrope: Much to the contrary to Keiichi and Belldandy's relationship, Skuld is actually the one who is pursuing a relationship with Sentaro and not the other way around. She is the one worrying about advances, what to do or not to do, and making an effort not to alienate him. Though it seems to be working, it's not happening nearly as fast as she'd like. She does get a tremendous boost to her powers as a result, though.
* LittleMissBadass
* LovingBully: She is more than willing to [[http://2.p.mpcdn.net/349950/573404/3.jpg slap Keiichi around]], [[http://i9.mangareader.net/ah-my-goddess/157/ah-my-goddess-244253.jpg but she is no stranger to]] [[http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-I6bckOWbZWA/T_DqMi6PCcI/AAAAAAAAAFs/IG2vKWUnH20/013.jpg?imgmax=3000 his kindness and love for her]].
* MakingASplash: This is her elemental affinity and it shows from her ability to teleport to anywhere with water, though she never used it initially due to her inexperience with magic. Her water magic develops later on in the series.
* MundaneMadeAwesome: She has an habit of doing this by sheer passion, but her crowning achievement in this trope is her defeat and killing of the [[spoiler: [[EldritchAbomination Lord of Terror]] ]] by ''erasing a floppy disk with a magnet''.
* MySisterIsOffLimits: She will fly into a fury if Keiichi gets too cozy with Belldandy, especially in the anime and early on in the manga. Later on in the manga this is toned down as she matures [[spoiler:and as Keiichi and Belldandy finally grow closer]]. It's nearly absent in the 1995 OVA.
* NotAllowedToGrowUp: Invoked. Though Skuld is shown to have [[http://img15.deviantart.net/6eb2/i/2009/355/b/a/skuld_and_her_angel_by_magifool.jpg grown up]] by design since the [[http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pc-YqKEXWgY/TmmSkF6kJUI/AAAAAAAAC2k/T0OeE-_AKqQ/008.jpg?imgmax=3000 beginning of the manga]], Ansuz points out that she [[http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Qj8orC-fVt4/T_BYv59XQ3I/AAAAAAAAEl0/vhGEciCUol8/005.jpg?imgmax=3000 hasn't really]] [[http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-n5A0VpnWWB0/T_BY3nGMSDI/AAAAAAAAEmM/UpukTXV7bFw/006.jpg?imgmax=3000 gotten any bigger]]. That's her mom saying that.
* NotSoAboveItAll:
** She'll never admit it, but she is as close to loving Keiichi as part of her family as she is to Belldandy. One of her character development aspects is her gradual realization of seeing Keiichi as a reliable and caring person.
** She loves Urd as much as she loves Belldandy. If anything, she trusts Urd more than Belldandy does.
* NotSoDifferent: From Urd and Keiichi.
* OnlySixFaces: If her inventions have a face they will usually ended up looking like Banpei. Sigel is spared from this because she is repurposed to look and act more human at Banpei's request.
* OvernightAgeUp: For one episode. [[ShesAllGrownUp She was more then a match with Belldandy while it lasted.]] And while she was at it, [[spoiler:she began to develop feelings for Keiichi.]]
* OverwhelmingException: She rarely shows behaviors that resemble either Belldandy's or Urd's... except when she's with Sentaro; it's then when Skuld shows that she's their sister indeed.
* PhysicalGoddess
* PlotTailoredToTheParty: The arc where she grows to adult size in the anime is the combination of two separate arcs in the manga: one where she grows up and Urd shrinks due to problems at Yggdrasil and one where she has unwittingly received an "I love you" declaration from Keiichi.
* PrettyFreeloaders: Along with her eldest sister Urd.
* PubertySuperpower: Starts developing her powers as soon as she learns to love - in other words start maturing and learning to feel for the opposite gender.
* RealityWarper: Give her a pile of junk and she makes a {{HumongousMecha}} out of it in seconds.
* ReedRichardsIsUseless: She probably could revolutionized the world a dozen times over if she didn't keep her talents to her self. This is even lampshaded.
* SoreLoser: After having her robot trapped by Megumi's in the Robot Wars, she detonates her own to make the fight a tie. Later, Belldandy encouraged her to shake hands with Megumi as a sign of friendship...only for poor Megumi get electrocuted by her at the end.
* SpannerInTheWorks: She and Urd really like to help Keiichi are always the first ones to jump the gun for him in his endeavors, though they always end up causing more harm than good.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Hild quickly notes that Skuld resembles Tyr.
* StuffBlowingUp: On three, everybody! 1, 2, 3: Skuld Bomb Away!
* SweetTooth: Especially ice cream since it's her main energy source.
* TheThreeFacesOfEve: Immature kid sister Skuld, goddess of the future, represents the child.
* TimTaylorTechnology: Most of her inventions.
* {{Tsundere}}: Towards Sentaro in the manga and in ''Flights of Fancy''.
* UnsoundEffect: The very first power she develops makes her able to stamp words on her target. If the power amplifier in Queen Sayoko's arc is of any indication, it can become powerful enough to destroy walls.
* VitriolicBestBuds:
** With her eldest sister Urd. Whenever she's not antagonizing his relationship with [[MySisterIsOffLimits Belldandy]] she is also this with Keiichi.
** Though they are in the road to becoming an OfficialCouple, Sentaro and Skuld are among the best of friends towards each other.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Skuld is afraid of ghosts.
* WrenchWench: Can build amazing devices and even robots out of even the most mundane of spare parts. Revealed to be [[spoiler:a form of magic]] late in the manga.
* {{Yandere}}: See MySisterIsOffLimits above.
* YouKeepTellingYourselfThat: She actually likes Keiichi as a person and she's glad that he and Belldandy are together; not that she'll ever admit it.

!!Angel: Gorgeous Rose
->Voiced by: Creator/ReiSakuma (JP); Creator/JulietCesario (EN - TV Series), Creator/AnneSherman (EN - Movie)

The fourth goddess of the series (fifth in the TV series where [[spoiler:Lind]] was introduced before her), she enters the story when Keiichi accidentally calls her up one day much like he did Belldandy, and against Keiichi's will—he's GenreSavvy enough by the point she appears to know that another goddess living with him isn't going to end well—stays with him. She is part of the Earth Help Center, and a Goddess First-class, Second Category, Unlimited. For a time, Peorth harbored a deep resentment towards Belldandy because Belldandy had reported the removal of a bug in Yggdrasil as a team effort. Believing Belldandy was pitying her, she held a grudge. During her stay she continually tried to seduce Keiichi in order to seem more of use to him than Belldandy, though she ultimately falls in love with him. However, after the misunderstanding is cleared up, Peorth remarks that she does not hate Belldandy anymore, and in recent appearances the two seem to be on friendly terms once again. Still, Peorth's incessant flirting with Keiichi puts some strains upon this new relationship.

Her magic is based on the element of Earth, mainly associated with roses and vines, as with her own angel, Gorgeous Rose.
* ButtMonkey: Pretty much the victim of Urd's and Skuld's {{zany scheme}}s who isn't Keiichi or Mara.
* CompositeCharacter: Of aspects of Belldandy and Urd; a seductress like Urd with the responsibilities of the rank of Belldandy.
* FingerlessGloves: Most of the time. Initially, she wore what seemed to be leather work gloves over white OperaGloves.
* GratuitousFrench: In the Dark Horse manga translation, Peorth is extremely fond of peppering her speech with French and antiquated English...at least when she's not angry or apathetic. Even Gorgeous Rose is named La Rose Magnifique in said translation initially.
* GreenThumb: Stands to reason, since earth magic is her domain.
* HookerWithAHeartOfGold: Arguably. In her original introduction in Chapter 66, she even states that she's in charge of fulfilling the carnal/earthly desires and that she's the best at it in her agency. It helps that her initial mission seems to be just "fuck Keiichi Morisato".
* TheLastOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers: Subverted. She is the last resident goddess in Tarikihongan, but she is as problematic to Keiichi as Urd and Skuld.
* LoveGoddess: Occasionally tries to play this role for Keiichi and Belldandy, if not Keiichi and herself (see ShipperOnDeck below).
* MarriedToTheJob: Even when it seems that she is slacking off at Tarikihongan, she has actually been always on duty supervising Urd in particular so that she can evaluate whether she can upgrade her to Goddess First Class. It doesn't mean she didn't enjoy her time there.
* MeaningfulName: ''Peorth'' is the name of the Anglo-Saxon rune ᛈ, which has an uncertain meaning; linguists associate it as part etymologic roots meaning "apple tree" or "pear tree", albeit it's also linked to a wood-wind musical instrument as part of a runic poem.
* {{Meido}}: Makes anyone who's working under her for special missions wear maid outfits. Poor Chrono.
* MsFanservice: Possibly the most obvious example in the series. Her default "robes" are even more revealing than what Urd wears. Lampshaded by Lind in one instance, during an ESCAPE of all times.
* ObliviousToLove:
** She completely misinterprets Tamiya's interest in her, thinking him gay for Keiichi.
** She also follows the advice of a love novel; this is especially ironic considering she fancies herself a love goddess.
* NotSoAboveItAll: During her early stay at Tarikihongan, Peorth mostly was there to put Urd and Skuld in their place; eventually she found herself pulled down to their schemes and causing as much trouble as them.
* PetalPower: Peorth's Storm of Roses attack in the anime, though in the manga she uses whole roses instead of just the petals.
* PhysicalGoddess
* TheRival: [[OverlyLongGag With Belldandy]] at first. Then, with both Urd and Skuld for TV rights.
* ShipperOnDeck: Eventually ships Keiichi/Belldandy but initially shipped Keiichi/''herself''.
* ShortHairWithTail
* SublimeRhyme: Her name rhymes with "fourth".
* SweetTooth: She is markedly fond of pastries and can spend a considerable time just savoring their scent and appearance ''alone''. She'll refuse to eat any pastry that is not pristine up to her standards. It's also implied that she likes to advertise such things in Heaven among other stuff.
* TheTease
* VitriolicBestBuds. First and foremost, with Lind. After her come Urd and Skuld.
* WellExcuseMePrincess: The tone of the series would have been completely different if it had been Peorth picking up the phone in episode one.
* WhipItGood: Involving the thorny vines she is able to summon.
* WrongGenreSavvy: She attempts to win Keiichi's heart by following the dating methods she read in romance and porn manga. This might work if she was the series' actual love interest (she isn't). During that time she also assumes that she's in a hentai manga. Notably lampshaded by the narrator when she fantasizes having sex with Keiichi after a date.

!!One Winged Angel Lind; [[spoiler:Twin Angel Lind]]; Rind
!!Angel: Cool Mint and Spear Mint
->Voiced by: Creator/MikiIto (JP); Creator/CarrieKeranen (EN)

The fifth Goddess to appear in the comic (fourth in the TV series). Lind is a Valkyrie, a member of the battle division of Heaven, also known as the Fighting Wings. Like the Goddesses Belldandy and Peorth, Lind carries a First Class License. However, unlike the other two, Lind's license is classified as "Special Duty, Limited", which denotes her position as a Valkyrie. Her elemental domain is [[AnIcePerson ice]], even though she is able to control fire and lightning beams perfectly.

In an unlikely turn of events, Lind obtained twin angels—Spear Mint and Cool Mint—though at first she could only call upon one of them at a time, causing her to be teased all throughout Heaven and Hell. Frustrated by her 'weakness' and resulting inability to call forth her second Angel, Lind threw herself into Valkyrie training with incredible ferocity. This intense training gained Lind the reputation as a Goddess of extreme violence. Eventually, she is able to call out both her angels by [[spoiler:realizing that she lacked a belief in herself and a trust towards others during her fight with the Angel Eater planted inside of her by Hild in an attempt to replace her angels with devils.]] She has since become more open and smiles often. She has also established close friendships with Keiichi Morisato and Belldandy.

* ActionGirl
* AnAxeToGrind: Her preferred weapon is a halberd (pole-axe with a spear on the end).
* {{Badass}}: She can easily smash concrete walls with her bare hands! [[spoiler: Granted, it turns out that her halberd is actually supposed to hold her back, notably shown when she fights the Angel Eater; when it takes her halberd, she promptly rips through its legs.]]
* BloodKnight: Mild example, admits at one point that she is fond of breaking things.
* ConditionalPowers:
** Her angels won't come out at the same time not because she is not powerful enough, but because there was never an instance where she really needed them. It took her a long time to realize this, as this is exactly the same thing that prevented Skuld from hatching Noble Scarlet.
** As a Valkyrie and a member of the Fighting Wings, Lind can drop power restrictions very easily, but she risks both her physical integrity and her life by doing so.
* CripplingOverspecialization: Best at fighting out of the goddesses, and the worst at magic. Her attempts to fix Keiichi's house are so bad she and Peorth pass it off as being done by Hagall's doing.
* DefrostingIceQueen: Starts out seemingly cold and impersonal, but eventually warms up to the point of considering Keiichi a lifelong friend.
** When facing a seemingly possessed [[spoiler:Belldandy]], she tells Keiichi and Skuld to leave everything to her, despite the fact that [[spoiler:she had given her second angel, Cool Mint, to Keiichi to allow them to fight the Angel Eater]]. Granted, she had special booster patches on her uniform that allowed her some extra strength, however using all those up (as she was planning to do) would have meant that [[spoiler:she would never be able to fight again afterwards]].
* EmotionlessGirl: Subverted. She makes a point to show Belldandy that she is indeed full of emotions, but she's not that good in the way of conversation or interpersonal relations.
* FashionableAsymmetry: Wears her hair longer on one side than the other, probably ties in to [[spoiler:her angels having only one wing each]].
* GoodOldFisticuffs: She can use magic, but mostly fights using her halberd and bare hands.
* AnIcePerson: Her elemental domain is ice.
* IAmNotLeftHanded: Pulls this on Hild when the reveals that [[spoiler:she has more than one angel]].
** Her using a huge halberd is [[spoiler: simply her way of being polite and giving her opponent a chance. She's actually deadlier without it]].
* InSeriesNickname: One-Winged Lind, see OneWingedAngel below, also has another one. [[spoiler:(Twin Angel Lind, a nickname known by only a few)]].
* IronLady: At the outset, she betrays very little emotion. When she realizes that she [[spoiler:unwittingly became the host of the Angel Eater and puts all the goddesses at the temple in peril just by her mere presence, Skuld is understandably upset at her; Lind does feign shame, but argues that she's not going to dwell on it or lose precious time apologizing.]]
* LadyOfWar: You bet your ass she is.
* MeaningfulName: She's named after the Norse giantess/princess Rindr, who was a lover of Odin and gave birth to Váli/Bous, Balder's death avenger.
* NotSoStoic: She was so intent in becoming a great fighter that she even forgot how to smile. Before she went to Tarikihongan, she was shown to be a straight arrow with a no-nonsense behavior to compensate for the fact that her angels only have one wing and she found herself unable to call them out together because she thought herself weak; after the Angel Eater she could summon both her angels, count the goddesses and Keiichi as intimate friends and even becomes BFFs with Peorth. She just needed to relax a little.
* OneWingedAngel: A rare literal example. Her angel has only one wing. Somewhat played straight in that whenever a goddess has her angel out, it usually means that they're about to use some high level spells. Of course it's not totally played straight in that Lind is nowhere close to being the BigBad or even a villain for that matter.
** Of course, [[spoiler:it turns out that the reason for the single wing is that she actually has twin angels with one wing each]]. In other words, she's a [[spoiler:double one-winged angel with matching power upgrade, as the epic beatdown she and her angels gave the Angel Eater via a meteor kick from outer space will attest to]].
* [[OneManArmy One-Goddess Army]]: Pretty much Lind's job description as one of the strongest Valkyries in Heaven.
* PluckyGirl: One of the few goddesses able to fight even with her angel ([[spoiler:both of them]]) taken from her, despite the sheer amount of shock from this that usually causes most other goddesses to lose consciousness.

* WhenSheSmiles: Lind becomes a lot less chilly and intimidating, almost to the point of being downright cute.
* WomanInWhite

Three goddesses who maintain Yggdrasil. They generally help Peorth and Lind and such by giving relevant exposition, or lines to increase dramatic tension. They also serve as people for Peorth or Lind to give orders to, allowing the commanding character to verbally direct the conflict, and to explain the dangerous nature of certain actions. Chrono in particular is given a greater focus in the manga.

* AdaptationExpansion: Chrono has brown hair in her first appearance in the movie where she plays a minor role; she is blonde in the manga, where is shown to be a potential Valkyrie.
* AscendedExtra: Chrono gets her own story arc in volumes 37 & 38.
* BridgeBunnies
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: Chrono subdues a program note by round-kicking it to stun it, showing a remarkable display of dexterity. Keiichi is floored by the awesomeness of her move and tells her so. She's not very used to the praise and it's implied that no one in Heaven has told her anything of the sort before, so it becomes a huge boost on her confidence.
* CanonImmigrant: They were originally introduced in TheMovie before being added to the manga several years later.
* CuteBruiser: It's a remarkable thing when a character with such poor sense of orientation is at the same time a tremendously able fighter and martial artist, amply demonstrating it while fighting with Welsper... [[RuleOfFunny who is a cat... and while she's wearing a maid dress.]]
* TheDitz / NoSenseOfDirection / {{Dojikko}}: Played with, as [[spoiler:the mission as entrusted by Peorth required this particular set of "assets".]]
-->'''Narrator:''' Chrono was foolish by nature.\\
'''Narrator:''' Chrono had no sense of direction.\\
'''Narrator:''' Now would be a good time to mention that Chrono was also clumsy.
* GoodIsNotDumb: Invoked. Chrono is by no means dumb, but she's so insecure that it affects her confidence, her decision-making and her self-esteem.
* HiddenPurposeTest: Chrono was not only being tested on her ability to retrieve the program entrusted to her, she was also sent to Earth so she could get brownie points in her pursuit of becoming a Valkyrie. In the end, when she has ostensibly shown her chops, Lind is willing to give her a commendation for Silver Wings based on her performance.
* ImmortalityBeginsAtTwenty: Subverted with Chrono. She has the appearance of a girl on her late teens, younger than Belldandy but older than Skuld.
* MeaningfulName: Their names suggest that they might be lesser Norns of Time; the original Norse mythology mentions that there are many other Norns aside from the three main ones:
** ''Chrono'' is a word of Greek origin referring to time and its measurement;
** ''Ere'' is an archaic English word of Germanic origin meaning "before", mainly used in poetry;
** ''Ex'' is a prefix of Latin origin meaning "formerly" (among other meanings)
* [[NeverAcceptedInHisHometown Never Accepted In Her Hometown]]: Chrono has never received such praise and admiration from anyone in Heaven like the ones she received from Keiichi and Belldandy. It's implied that Peorth sent her to Earth to boost her confidence, which is something that she always had been lacking.
* NightmareFace: Normally cute, Chrono is prone to make [[http://mangatika.com/scans/i9/img/ah-my-goddess/237/ah-my-goddess-246242.jpg these kind]] [[http://mangatika.com/scans/i5/img/ah-my-goddess/237/ah-my-goddess-246247.jpg of expressions]] [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes whenever a cat shows up]].
* NinjaMaid: Chrono, who happens to be a Valkyrie in training, is forced by Peorth to wear a maid outfit when she goes to Earth to deliver a program to Belldandy.
* NotSoDifferent: A goddess (Chrono) that is a superb fighter but is severely lacking in other aspects of being a goddess? Hello again, Lind!; this does set a precedent where the focus on fighting forces the Valkyries to neglect other abilities that are second-nature to normal goddesses.
* SelfDeprecation: Chrono is well aware that she is clumsy and easily confused, so she beats herself up with this constantly. She's even told by Belldandy that she should seriously drop it.
* SpannerInTheWorks: Chrono for Peorth. Chrono is terrible at office work and multitasking; she makes quick decisions and actions that are often wrong and disastrous. While this line of thought does not help her in her current task, it makes her an extremely talented fighter and a noteworthy candidate for the Fighting Wings; Peorth sees these attributes in her and sends her on a mission that will showcase them, and she makes sure that Lind is there to witness her accomplishments. It works out perfectly.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Chrono has an intense, blinding fear of cats.

A plum-tree spirit, and one of Urd's old flames. He left Urd to pursue a golden nightingale because all plum-tree spirits are expected to do so.

* {{Bishonen}}: After Art Evolution kicks in, he trades his muscles and rugged facial features in Urd's Volume 4 flashback for a slimmer figure and a smooth face. His hair also become longer and he gains PointyEars to give him an elf-like appearance.
* CrazyJealousGuy: He gets violently jealous when it comes to Urd, often employing a song that results in the victim being reduced to a bug-filled corpse. Keiichi nearly meets this fate if weren't for a timely counterattack from Urd.
* {{Jerkass}}: He is very easily offended and often uses DisproportionateRetribution to exact satisfaction. He's remarkably out of touch regarding almost everything that comes into collation.
* PointyEars: Gains them after ArtEvolution.

!!The Almighty, Kami-sama, Daitenkaicho

Tyr, the Almighty ("Daitenkaicho", "ruler of heaven" in the original Japanese) is the head god. As the Almighty, all goddesses ultimately answer to him and he is responsible for maintaining reality, time, and probability as we know it. His attitude and personality is very commanding, but he is very polite and forgiving; He has forgiven the Norns for disobeying his orders multiple times (as is suggested by Keiichi in the manga). The Almighty One is very blunt and straight-forward. He does not understand how humans act and communicate, possibly because He has not been to Earth in a long time. Throughout the manga and anime he is an unseen character as viewers never see his face, which is usually shrouded in shadow, turned away, or simply too close-up; all that can be discerned is that the Almighty One is tall and well-built, with long black hair. He also has many seals on his hands, neck and on his ears (this could probably be a clue as concerns the fact he may be the deity in doublet with Hild, as also we can imagine listening to her discussing on the Double System).

It is [[{{Fanon}} believed by some people]] that the Almighty is the father of the three Norns. During the "Trouble with Doublets" saga (in the first Dark Horse Comics translation of the manga but NOT the reprint), Belldandy answers the phone and tells her sisters "It's the Almighty." After Urd loses odds and evens against Skuld, she answers with "Oh goodness, Daddy?! It's been ages!" However, it should be noted that in the original Japanese version, "Kami-sama" is not referred to in this way. It is very likely that it is a translation error, as is the case with the OVA dub script where Kami-sama is referred to as the Norns' father as well. In the subtitles for the OVA he is referred to simply as "lord" in the places where the dub uses "father" (the dub of the TV series keeps it ambiguous like the original Japanese). [[AscendedFanon In chapter 294 of the manga he is confirmed to be the Norns' father and his name is revealed to be Tyr.]]

* AlternateContinuity: The Tyr from AhMyGoddess is related to the Myth/NorseMythology version where Tyr is the leader of the Aesir instead of Odin. In this media's case in particular, the Norns are his daughters, where in the original myth they are not related (and as a matter of fact, the Norns are actually Jotun giantesses and are Valkyries too; also, there are more than three Norns).
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: It's shown that Ansuz and Hild are equally powerful; this implies that Tyr is more powerful than either of them. As such, the office holder of the Daitenkaicho is stronger than the Daimakaicho.
* AmicableExes: It's said by Ansuz that Tyr still loves and misses Hild very much. These two wives of his are also surprisingly friendly with each other too.
* [[DemonicPossession Divine Possession]]: Tyr has the power to possess other beings and communicate and use his powers through them, which he has demonstrated thrice: Once with Yuki Gomorrah, a student/fortune teller at Nekomi Tech, and twice with the Gates, the latter occurring in chapter 294.
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: The Dark Horse character profiles always lists him as, "The Almighty: Almighty."
* TheFaceless: His face is never shown. The only thing that is ever shown of him in the manga is his arm; this might be an actual MythologyGag, as the mythological Tyr only has one hand, having lost the other one to the wolf Fenrir. Another clue to his appearance is that Skuld bears a strong resemblance to him, as Hild points out.
* {{God}}: Well, ''duh''.
* NotSoAboveItAll: [[spoiler:He doesn't want to give Belldandy's hand away in marriage because he doesn't think that either she or Keiichi will bear the pain of losing each other. The Lake Goddess even catches a glimpse of him crying over this before he leaves the Gate's body]].
* OverprotectiveDad: [[spoiler: Even though Keiichi passed the test that would allow him to remain with Belldandy, Tyr insists that he'll only accept it if Keiichi performs a miracle. Which in this case is a bike timetrial that makes the Isle of Man TT race look downright easy.]]
* ParentWithNewParamour: When he was forcibly separated from Hild, he married Ansuz; she gets along with Urd in spite of not being her mother.
* {{The Trickster}}: Has elements of this in chapters 293-296.

[[folder:The Gates]]

The personifications of the Gates System of Heaven. Two gates make an appearance in canon; one of them, Gate of Heaven, took a humanoid form and visited the Tarikihongan Temple in search of the meaning of the emotion called "Love" and the second one [[spoiler: the Gate of Judgement was summoned by Ansuz to enforce judgement upon Keiichi and Belldandy and first appeared on the movie]]. All gates from the system have exactly the same appearance save from their garb and all have exactly the same memory backup.

This entry includes tropes related to the Gates of Hell, though these are not shown to be proper characters.

* AdaptationExpansion: Inverted, as the Gate of Judgement has more meat in the Manga: the Gate of Judgement first appeared in the movie, though it appeared as inert. There, Keiichi and Belldandy [[spoiler:go through it almost effortlessly]]. In the manga, the Gate appears [[spoiler:in the same humanoid form as the Gate of Heaven to enforce judgement upon Keiichi and Belldandy and they literally ''went through Hell and back'' to cross it and the ordeal itself was emotionally enormous.]]
* AnimateInanimateObject: Subverted. The gates of the Heaven's Gate system are very much conscious, living beings with personalities and humanoid forms; they just happen to be gates.
* [[AnthropomorphicPersonification Anthropomorphic Personifications]]: They are living gates who can take humanoid form.
* BrattyHalfPint
* EnfantTerrible: Though diminutive compared to the goddesses at the temple, the Gate of Heaven is considerably stronger than all of them. [[spoiler:The Gate of Judgement does not take lightly the fact that Keiichi and Belldandy were able to step out of the illusion inside her and promptly cuts the glitch with great force]].
* EvilCounterpart: Subverted. While the Gates system of Heaven features living gates, there's no indications that the gates that lead to Hell are alive or even have similar nature as their counterparts.
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: As the Gate of Judgement points out, the personifications will appear just because there ''are'' gates in heaven.
* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: The whole key insertion ordeal; see VisualInnuendo below.
* HiveMind: As mentioned on the description, all of Heaven's Gates have the same memory and are identical to one another.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: The Gate of Heaven is an eternal beholder with endless curiosity to whom no one talks to. Curious as to why a great number of goddesses have gathered upon the temple and the rumors from gods and goddesses passing by regarding that place in particular, the Gate promptly visits the temple, effectively locking every opening in and out of heaven.
* IngestingKnowledge: The Gates System runs because it feeds on the information from the beings that pass through it. This just happens inconsequentially and the passers-through don't mind; however, because of this matter-of-fact approach the Gate of Heaven initially doesn't take "no" for an answer because she never has had experienced a negative from anyone that goes through her, considering she's barely perceived to begin with. This makes her seem rude and carefree.
* {{Jerkass}}: The Gate of Heaven behaves like this toward Keiichi because she doesn't know better, treating him as if he were stupid, though eventually she comes to appreciate his input. Belldandy is not exactly thrilled by this.
* PaperPeople: Invoked. Heaven's Gates are personifications of two-dimensional portals; their humanoid bodies show mass and volume, and feature everything in a normal body except arms. [[http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/ohmygoddess/images/2/20/The_Gate.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20110610141721 Their "coat" moves and behaves like their upper limbs, and fulfills every function related to arm and hand movement]]. When they're deployed, [[http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lwnyPMTYlnk/UX_wMj8ywqI/AAAAAAAAVXs/4Hl1s07br9s/015.png?imgmax=3000 they show only their heads]] or [[http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jmCxY4OqDRk/T_D0Nu_FdsI/AAAAAAAACaQ/5hNHq6Prvmc/010.png?imgmax=3000 no anatomic features at all]].
* RoadTripAcrossTheStreet: Happens twice:
** The Gate of Heaven opens permanently at Tarikihongan Temple so that she can visit Keiichi and the Goddesses frequently. This comes up into collation again during the coup against Hild, where Lind and Peorth escape Heaven's shutdown directly to the temple.
** Hild places a Gate of Hell a corner away from the temple for convenience.
* VerbalTic: Having met two of Heaven's Gates, Keiichi knows that they end every sentence by saying "you know?" as an inflection; this makes him realize that the individual that is before them is not talking like a Gate, so he deduces that this individual [[spoiler:is not the Gate of Judgement, but someone possessing it. It turns out that it's the Daitenkaicho Tyr overriding the Gate]].
* VisualInnuendo: Gate of Heaven accepts deploying herself once again to allow Peorth to return to Heaven under the condition that Keiichi inserts an enormous key inside her chest; she makes it sound extremely dirty, so much that Urd and Peorth are horrified at the prospect and Belldandy triggers one of her jealousy outbursts.

Ansuz (or Anzasu), is the CEO of the Goddess Collective, the second and current wife of the Daitenkaicho Tyr and the mother of Skuld and Belldandy. She acts as the Interracial Romance Inquisitor when Belldandy gives the Kiss of Truth on Keiichi, and facilitates their Judgment Gate trial. She is named after the ancient Norse rune, and the name of a god in Germanic paganism. She is the last goddess shown in the manga.

* AmicableExes: Her sparring with Hild is incredibly violent until Urd brings them down from their adrenaline rush. They actually don't mind each other that much and are downright friends. She is also very friendly and familiar with Urd, arguing that her existence is the biggest plus to Hild and Tyr's life-threatening relationship and that she is more than worth the trouble they went through.
* BadAss: She is able to open a portal to Hell on her own without very little qualms or requiring any permission from the Daimakaicho whatsoever. She can also fight one-to-one with Hild to a stalemate.
* CuteBruiser: She's the mother of Belldandy and Skuld, so she has plenty of cute to spare; she's also a brutal fighter.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: The first thing she does when she barges into Hell is telling Hild to shut up because single people have no perspective in marriage matters. This triggers their fight, though it turns out just to be friendly, absurdly violent, banter.
* FriendlyEnemy: She and Hild enjoy each other's company a lot, as it seems that there are not many other beings that can talk with them in equal terms. Ansuz even expresses disappointment at Hagall telling her that she has to leave Hell lest she becomes trapped in there.
* HandsOffParenting: Due to her obligations, her daughters and her step-daughter were raised by mentors and tutors, and were basically left to their own devices. Though they have a mutual amicable relationship, they are not particularly close to each other; when she shows up in Niflheim to enforce the Gate of Judgement, the Norns are actually more surprised than happy to see her once again.
* TheHighQueen: She is the highest goddess featured in the manga and the wife of the Daitenkaicho.
* HotBlooded: She is more than willing to give Hild a run for her money in both banter and battle. [[TheBerserker She is also shown to enjoy it]]. This is very much unlike any other goddess shown in the manga except Lind.
* InvisibleParents: It's shown that her daughters and Urd are fostered and mentored by other gods and goddesses because of her responsibilities.
* IronicEcho: When Hild first appears in the story, Belldandy admonishes her for waiting for Urd to call her to show up, knowing that she should have come at the very moment her daughter needed her and not a single minute after. Ansuz appears for the first time precisely after Hild calls out Belldandy on her [[spoiler:hypocrisy regarding Keiichi]]; she actually shows up as removed from the situation as possible and not due to any personal reasons, meaning Ansuz didn't come because her daughter Belldandy needed her but out of duty. At least Hild showed up out of concern!
* MarriedToTheJob: Apparently, interracial romance is so prevalent in the universe that she is constantly and unequivocally busy for most of the manga until the last arc.
* {{Nepotism}}: Subverted. She enforces the Judgement Gate on Belldandy regardless of her being her daughter.
* NotSoDifferent: From Hild, according to Keiichi. When she fights Hild, he notices that he finds them equally monstrous.
* ParentWithNewParamour: She is Tyr's second wife. She has a good relationship with both Hild and Urd.
* ReplacementGoldfish: Hild taunts her with this in order to make her mad, considering that Ansuz the Daitenkaicho's second wife.

[[folder:The Lake Goddess and The Bard]]

The Lake Goddess is the subject of the hypothetical scenario given to Belldandy and Keiichi when they go through the Gate of Judgement. In her case, she contains Belldandy. The Bard in turn contains Keiichi.

* TheDeterminator: [[spoiler:She first cuts her bounds to the lake in despair due to the death of the Bard and she is in turn punished by being contained for all eternity; only, she caught a glimpse of Keiichi and Belldandy before being encased, who gave her hope for the future. During the Daitenkaicho's trial of Keiichi, the Lake Goddess breaks off her eternal shackles and helps the couple through their trial, much to the surprise of the Daitenkaicho]].
* DeusExMachina: She pulls Keiichi from the void once he falls from the Daitenkaicho's bike course, which would have meant his death; serves as double and triple, because she is ''literally a goddess'' and she gives Keiichi his motorcycle back.
* FateWorseThanDeath: The Lake Goddess spends an inordinate amount of time encased due to her breaking her vows. [[spoiler:Good thing Keiichi and Belldandy gave her a glimmer of hope]].
* MoralityBallad: The scenario was supposed to teach Keiichi and Belldandy about the dangers of their relationship and how much are they bound to lose when they are separated by Keiichi's death. [[spoiler:In turn, the scenario taught the Lake Goddess to persevere beyond her eternal punishment and help Belldandy and Keiichi through their trial in defiance to the Daitenkaicho]].
* ThePowerOfLove: Her love for the Bard makes her break off her ties to the lake, earning her an eternity of punishment; [[spoiler:the love between Belldandy and Keiichi brings her back]].
* StarCrossedLovers: The Bard decides to spend the rest of his mortal life with the Lake Goddess.

* TheDeterminator: He is put into a mouse body by Belldandy to remain inconspicuous towards Megumi. When Mara takes possession of Megumi's body, she confines him into an inert plush toy. Out of sheer willpower, the Earth Spirit is able to make the plush toy move and he heads towards NIT to save Megumi. He is ran over a couple of times and a dog chews him out, but he makes it to campus, where he is able to attack Mara.
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: When he first battles Belldandy he doesn't realize who she is and how much she outranks him. Belldandy has to peg him down a few times before she makes him see the error on his ways.
* GuardianAngel: After he is given his landline back, he is tasked with protecting Megumi where possible.
* HouseFey: He is one for Megumi even though he is not bound to the apartment anymore when Belldandy restored his lifeline. He protects the apartment and Megumi because he swore Belldandy he would do so.
* JerkassGods: He is not very happy that humans severed his Earth Power Line, making him lose most of his powers. In retribution he haunts the apartment, keeping most interest parties away.
* JerkassHasAPoint: He is effectively stranded inside the apartment when his power line is severed. He just took it a step too far by targeting humans that had nothing to do with it.
* {{Poltergeist}}: He behaves this way towards anyone that dares enter the apartment.

A magical broom that belongs to Urd and is in the possession of Belldandy. Stringfellow is the fastest broom in heaven.

!!Marller, Marla

->Voiced by: Creator/UraraTakano (JP); Creator/AlissaBrodsky (EN - TV Series), Creator/MariDevon (EN - Mini-Goddess)

Was once the childhood friend of the goddesses who are the main characters, even though she is a demoness. Urd and Mara used to be very good friends, but got separated when Urd chose to be a goddess. Her actual duty is to increase the market share of the demons on earth, though she decides that removing the goddesses will make it one hundred percent. Like her Buddhist namesake, she is generally regarded only as a nuisance; extremely inept, generally failing due to her sheer incompetence, and on some rare occasions she actually helps the goddesses.

* {{Bifauxnen}}: Was originally drawn to be pretty sexless in the manga, even once claimed to be Belldandy's fiancé, before being eventually outed as female. As the manga wears on though, she begins to swap to the cloak-y outfits from the anime.
* BlondesAreEvil: Well, yellow blondes at least.
* BoobsOfSteel: Despite (or perhaps because of) her constant failures, Mara demonstrates an unrivaled ability to take physical punishment in stride, and until Thrym's appearance, was the most physically-active of the demons. Accordingly, when reappearing after the Lord of Terror arc, she's shown to be very well endowed.
* ButNotTooEvil: Her main focus regarding the conflict she maintains with the Norns is to win by attrition and make them return to Heaven because their constant presence makes her work very difficult; for that purpose, she has her sights in breaking up Keiichi and Belldandy. Sure, she's willing to slap them around, but she's actually very fond of them. Whenever she allies herself with someone, she's always the lesser of the two evils (Urd's evil clone, Hild, The Lord of Terror) and she always seeks to reduce the amount of harm caused whenever the plan goes awry.
* ButtMonkey: After her debut chapter, she becomes more incompetent and frequently receives the bad end of things. She's not that bad of a demon or even remotely powerless, but her weaknesses were figured out pretty fast. It doesn't help that she and the Norns were friends before being given their tasks.
* CuteLittleFangs: Gets these after ArtEvolution makes her ProgressivelyPrettier.
* EvilLaugh: A very convincing one, which is kinda ironic considering how poor her actuall skills are.
* EvilPlan: Increasing the marketshare of demons is the purpose of her zany schemes. ItMakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext, if there was any context to begin with.
* GirlinessUpgrade [=/=] CharacterizationMarchesOn: With the years she became increasingly more feminine in the manga. Whereas she was largely asexual in the beginning, from the Lord of Terror arc onward she began getting more shapely and with less sharp features. From the arrival of Hild, she also got less malicious as well.
* GoldfishPoopGang: Given the number of times she gets easily discarded by the Goddesses and Banpei, she does qualify.
* {{Harmless Villain}}ess: She is too goofy to be taken as a serious threat.
** She was presented as a danger in her early appearances, but suffered heavily from VillainDecay, becoming more of a ButtMonkey, and her plans becoming less dangerous when the series established that gods and demons have rules against killing each other.
** NotSoHarmlessVillain: One of her plans, [[spoiler: involving putting everyone at Nekomi Tech under Sayoko's mind-control (Sayoko's wish) and having her tell the mind-controlled Belldandy to return to Heaven (the payment)]], [[NearVillainVictory almost succeeded]], and only failed because of [[spoiler: Sayoko told Belldandy to return home, [[ExactWords causing her to return to the temple where she lives with Keiichi]]]]. And until Keiichi [[spoiler: returned home and found Belldandy there]], characters and ''the readers'' thought she had won until TheReveal.
* InvoluntaryDance: One of her weaknesses. She can't stop dancing (badly) if she hears rock music, or in the Dark Horse manga translation, disco.
* ManipulativeBitch: Invoked many times. She ''tries'' to be this but she's hardly ever successful.
* OfCorsetsSexy: Several of her outfits feature this, most notably in the second season of the anime.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent
* PrettyFreeloader: Rarely if she's staying with Keiichi and the Goddesses.
* ProgressivelyPrettier: One of the main examples in the series, she gets cuter and later more attractive as the series progresses.
* PunchClockVillain: Prevalent in the second season of the anime, where she's even HELPING the Goddesses and Keiichi a couple times.
* RedEyesTakeWarning
* RockMeAsmodeus: Inverted, and made into a WeaksauceWeakness. See InvoluntaryDance above.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: See variations of her name above. Fujishima and fansubs use Marller while Dark Horse sticks to Mara (as how it was pronounced in Japanese).
* VitriolicBestBuds: Used to be this with Urd, before the latter went to Heaven to become a goddess.
* WeaksauceWeakness: She's allergic to lucky charms. Usually it just gives her a terrible headache, but contact with one she never touched caused her to faint and [[EasyAmnesia lose her memory]]. Also see InvoluntaryDance above.
* WomanInBlack: Not a very straight example though, given her comical nature and her antics.
** BlackCloak

The ultimate Demon who is the opposite to The Almighty, known as the Ruler of Demonkind, or "Daimakaicho" (great demon-world leader) in the original Japanese. She is incredibly powerful, with her power dwarfing even the combined strength of the three goddesses. Despite her immense power, she respects the doublet system, and thus limits her power to prevent killing any of the Goddesses. She is Urd's mother, and she loves her daughter deeply, although Urd does not return the feeling (it is revealed that doing so would mean that Urd would acknowledge and thus be taken over by her demonic side). Hild displays a similar witty personality to Urd, though she is far more mean-spirited, and a fondness for dressing in revealing outfits. Hild dislikes Belldandy, because Belldandy's attitude and love for humanity reminds her of Belldandy and Skuld's father and the relationship they once had. Because of this, she has often tried to corrupt or hurt Belldandy several times throughout the series. She also seems to have some feelings for Keiichi Morisato.

She appears a few times before leaving an avatar child version of herself, who would go on to become a regular antagonist for the goddesses, as well as a direct supervisor for Mara. While this avatar possesses only one thousandth of the true Hild's power, it is still enough to make the avatar a powerful enemy for anyone. Despite this, as well as being generally more competent then Mara, she often proved just an inept. In the manga, a small team of demons sealed her main body and attacked her avatar in the human world.

* AffablyEvil: Despite being {{Satan}} she's not too bad, especially compared to other demons she keeps in check. So far whenever helping the main characters she's refrained from every double-crossing them despite her rather mean-spirited temperament.
* AmicableExes:
** She and Tyr still love each other very much and it's said that he pines for her so much that even Ansuz (his current wife) worries about him.
** She and Ansuz herself are in surprisingly good terms; they're not above beating the crap out each other, though.
* AtLeastIAdmitIt: She had to go through the Gate of Judgement and lost Tyr forever. She's not very happy about it but she went through it fair and square. She is the first to notice that Belldandy [[spoiler:did something funky to be able to stay with Keiichi for so long with them being from different species, so she calls her out on her hypocrisy]].
* BenevolentBoss: Played with. Even though she's not above throwing his lackeys under the bus and kicking them around, she is unequivocally loved by all of them; [[spoiler:they'll even usurp her if that's what it takes to keep her alive]].
* BerserkButton: Do refrain from pointing out the possibility of her pulling a double cross or refusing a deal with her.
* FourStarBadass: She IS the leader of Hell after all.
* DarkSkinnedBlond: One of the clues that she's Urd's mother.
* DeathGlare: Comes part and parcel with her status and power level. Urd is also capable of a similar glare.
* GenerationXerox: She's effectively a darker-skinned, taller Urd with a different hairdo and a mean streak.
* HornyDevil: Some shades of it since she'll flirt with most anything.
* HotAsHell: Her picture used to be on the trope page.
* IGaveMyWord: She says she keep any deals she makes and has so refrained from abusing any loopholes. A DealWithTheDevil isn't all that dangerous when its with her as long as you don't wish for something too extreme.
* MamaBear: She wants nothing more than to be with Urd, and this is presumably one of the reasons she leaves an fractional avatar of herself in Nekomi.
* MsFanservice: Like mother, like daughter.
* IWantMyMommy: Played with. Urd cannot tell her that she loves her, but that doesn't mean that she cannot care about her mom, [[spoiler:as she cries and lashes out when she learns that her mom could have died had there not been a coup]]. Admitting that much at least won't turn her into a demon.
* MumLooksLikeASister: She looks just like Urd-only with a more mature makeup and hairdo.
* MysticalWhiteHair
* NotSoDifferent:
** She act times acts exactly like Urd. One exchange of insults they throw at each is almost word for word the same as one between Urd and Skuld:
-->Volume 5:
--->'''Urd''': I don't remember raising you to come running at your sisters for every little problem!
--->'''Skuld''': I don't remember being raised by you, ''period''!
-->Volume 22:
--->'''Hild''': I guess I didn't raise you properly, huh?
--->'''Urd''': You didn't raise me at all!
** From Ansuz. They might be a goddess and a demon, but they are equally powerful, feisty, quarrelsome and belligerent. They'd have to be similar, both having been married to Tyr. They even like each other.
* PurpleEyes: Another thing she shares with her daughter.
* ParentalSubstitute: In Urd absence, she raised Hagall in her stead. Hagall argues that she'll never replace Urd in Hild's heart, but Urd argues that Hagall is fortunate to be with Hild in the first place, something that she herself will never be able to do.
* RunningGag: Hild likes to kiss people out of the blue. She's caught AT LEAST [[spoiler:Keiichi, Lind, and Hagall]] off-guard. And they all freaked out.
* {{Satan}}: Since she's the ruler of all demons.
* WalkingWasteland: In her first appearance across all versions, she states if it weren't for all the [[PowerLimiter power-limiting jewelry]] she wears (yes, she uses [[UpToEleven multiple ones]]), her entrance into the human world would likely destroy the whole city, and even with them, her entrance still causes dark clouds to appear and stir as well as kicking up gale-force winds.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Nowhere near as evil as most examples.

A demon, who is in a doublet, a link of fate established to preserve the balance between Heaven and Hell, with Belldandy. The doublets normally forget each other, but [[spoiler:Welsper cursed himself to remain in child form in exchange for remembering his encounter with Belldandy. The curse could only be broken if Belldandy speaks his name. It turned out that his body could not handle his growing power, so he worked to break the curse by stopping time. After installing a virus in Yggdrasil, he ends up having the curse broken, and returns to the demon realm. However, because he hacked into Yggdrasil,]] he was punished afterwards by being reincarnated into a kitten. He is the only demon who shows a ''tsukaima'' (demon servant, English translation: "familiar"), having it obtained by Keiichi after neither him nor Belldandy could handle the burden of bringing the creature which almost transformed her into a demon because of Hild. His black fur becomes white spotted, but he returns normal after naming his ''tsukaima'' as "Die Wespe der Blauen Lanze" ("The Wasp of the Blue Lance" in German).

* ArcVillain: [[spoiler:Of the Mystery Child arc.]]
* BlowYouAway: His elemental attribute is wind.
* ButNotTooEvil: Even though he is one of the most dangerous demons ever encountered in the manga, Welsper does not act out of malice even when he has the opportunity to do so and is very insightful when given the chance. This is why he is allowed to live at the Tarikihongan Temple when he is depowered. Given what he did, though, everyone else but Belldandy has a chip on their shoulder when it comes to Welsper, and Urd and Skuld tend to pick on him. He's not exactly loved, just merely tolerated.
** He also sincerely loves Belldandy.
* CatsAreMean: Has occasional occurrences of this; however, (s)he's no Garfield.
* GenderBender: Was reincarnated as a '''female''' cat, though he's quite, QUITE male in his mind.
* [[GratuitousForeignLanguage Gratuitous German]]: How he names his familiar.
* [[spoiler:IKnowYourTrueName: The goal of his debut arc is for Belldandy to remember his name so that his curse can be broken.]]
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: He is willing to playfully sabotage everyone at the temple except Belldandy, and he will relent any scheming if it helps her just a little bit.
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:Turned himself into a kid permanently so as not to forget Belldandy, who he was in doublet with. Ends up biting him in the ass somethin' fierce.]]
** CreepyChild: See OlderThanTheyLook.
* StatingTheSimpleSolution: Welsper looked unaesthetic enough to be confused with a rag by Belldandy. In order to get help from Hild, Belldandy has to engage in a spectacular broom race with her. After all is said and done, Hild reveals that all that Welsper actually had to do to get rid of his faded spots was to christen his Familiar. Just that.

->Voiced by: Creator/NorioWakamoto (JP), Creator/KevinTCollins (EN)

Mara's assistant and self proclaimed god of misofortune and poverty, Senbei is a miniature genie summoned from a bottle of ramune. He's extremely fond of saying "Sha'kine!" and peppering his speech with foreign phrases.

* AssholeVictim: the premise of his powers.
* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: In the English dub of ''Flights of Fancy'', at least...he lets out a long, drawn-out "''Merde!'"
* GratuitousForeignLanguage: No matter the version, Senbei is really, REALLY bad about spouting phrases from multiple languages.
* GoldfishPoopGang: He works with Mara, and is just as if not MORE incompetent at causing misfortune.
* JackassGenie: And one full of himself at that.

[[folder:The Lord of Terror]]
A virus that runs on Yggdrasil. It is divided into two parts—the will of the Lord of Terror, and the "Ultimate Destruction Program", Fenrir. It wants to destroy the world and create a world for demons in its place (this happens only in the anime, while in the manga we can see that his intent is to destroy the entire universe in order to create a new, violent one; this is the reason why [[spoiler:Keiichi, possessed by the program, wants Skuld to build a 10 dimensional scythe for cutting the 10 dimensional string of the universe, which permit its existence). The heir to the Lord of Terror was Urd, because of her mixed ancestry. Basically, the Great Lord's will influenced Urd and eventually sealed her will away. It then utilized the urn Mao Za Haxon, which contained the Ultimate Destruction Program's bootup. After it had possessed Keiichi, Belldandy told it to transfer to her but it could not possess her, as the base wavelength was different, and was quickly forced to transfer itself to a floppy disk and was then erased by Skuld with a magnet.]]

* AntiClimax: [[spoiler:The Lord of Terror, who was on the verge of rampaging through the city just mere hours before ends up locked in a diskette which is then write-locked.]]
* BigBad: of the 1st Season of the TV series which corresponds to his titular arc in the manga.
* CanisMajor: [[spoiler: the Ultimate Destruction Program, which is a version of the wolf Fenrir, which in this series is {{Kaiju}} sized.]]
* DiabolusExNihilo: Seriously, where the hell did this guy come from?
* GenericDoomsdayVillain: He wants to destroy reality, and then, we don't know what.
* GrandTheftMe: Its main method of survival is to jump from a dying/weak body into a stronger one. In the series [[spoiler:it goes from Urd to Fenrir to Midgard to Keiichi to a floppy disk.]]
* OmnicidalManiac: He wants to destroy reality; all ten dimensions of it.
* WeaksauceWeakness: [[spoiler:He gets erased... from existence... by Skuld... with a small magnet. Granted he was forced into a floppy disk and she explains why that would kill him.]]

The second most powerful demon in Hell, who takes the control of Hell in a rebellion against Hild, because she thinks Hild has lost the power and glory of the demon world. Through an elaborate plan to get more share of wishes on Earth and to destroy everything related to the Goddesses, she imprisons Hild and sends her servants to attack Chibi-Hild on Earth, however she manages to escape and goes with Belldandy to ask for help (manga chapters 240 till 262). Hagall usually talks about herself in third person [[spoiler: at least while she's acting like a nutter]] and her powers include mental control and hypnotism. Besides, she is a very selfish and ambitious demon who does not consider the energetic balance between Heaven and Hell (brought by human contracts).

* BigBad: Fills this role in the penultimate arc of the manga.
* BigNo: [[spoiler:An internal one when Hild takes over her body.]]
* BoobsOfSteel: Second-strongest in Hell, and some manga panels even depict her with larger breasts than Hild's (mostly due to her outfit).
* CripplingOverspecialization: Hagall is excellent bar none when it comes to hypnotism but mediocre in other forms of spells; in spite of this, she is powerful enough to by Hell's second-in-command.
* CuteAndPsycho: [[spoiler:Inverted since her psychoness is mostly a role she plays and her real personality is rather adorable, if a little foul-mouthed.]]
* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: [[spoiler:That little amulet smelled a bit too much like Hild, so she quickly disposed of it. Of course, it still wasn't DGS enough. After all, she's up against Keiichi.]]
* TheDragon: was supposed to be this to Hild, until she rebelled.
* ElegantGothicLolita: She's a snappy dresser alright! Frilly skirts and all!
* HotAsHell: Very, very much; she is as dangerous as she is gorgeous.
* HypnoticEyes: Her power consists in altering her victim's perception through eye contact and inducing nightmarish situations into their minds.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She put Hell upside down [[spoiler:to save the life of Hild, who is basically her mother; even though Hild tricked her to do so, she doesn't care and is ecstatic to learn that she will not die]].
* KickTheDog: [[spoiler:Holy Bell!!]]
* LadySwearsALot: In the Goddess Miyaku Team fan-lation at least, [[spoiler:after she drops the psycho façade she has the absolute worst language out of ANY character in the manga, being the only character to actually drop F-bombs]] when the worst anyone else has is maybe "damn".
* MeaningfulName: Her name means "hail" in old Norwegian, old Icelandic and in Anglo-Saxon.
* ReplacementGoldfish: As Hagall points out, Urd should be Hild's second-in command and is shunning a rightful position of privilege that anyone in Hell would die for. Urd does envy Hagall for being able to actually be around Hild all the time, which is something she'll never be able to do herself.
* ShesGotLegs: Long, shapely and immaculate.
* ShowGirlSkirt: With all the lift and frills.
* SpareToTheThrone: She is Hild's heir apparent in terms of might and power. Relationship-wise, she is Hild's daughter in all but name and Hagall loves her as so.
* TheStarScream: A successful one at that, seeing as when we're introduced to her, she's already taken over Hell.
* ThirdPersonPerson
* UndyingLoyalty: [[spoiler:Her ''true'' motive for "usurping" Hild. She's trying to save Hild from the clause in demonic law that requires the ruler of Hell to die when her term expires. Being usurped doesn't count as "expiring".]]

[[folder:Halval/Halvalth/Ebony Alvar]]
-> ''Come forth Darkness! A beam of Light into the Darkness. A grain of Light into the Darkness. True Darkness.''
--> -Halval's spell
A powerful demon who serves Hagall in a rebellion against Hild. Her name has the 'rune of sound' "Þ" (Thurisaz, Thorn or Thurs). Her main power is an ability "to see sounds" and combat in complete darkness. She battled against Keiichi and Belldandy in chapter 251 to 255 of the manga. [[spoiler: In chapter 255, Halval lost the fight through a plan of Keiichi Morisato: he was influenced by the kiss of Chibi-Hild who transferred some of her knowledge to him before she went back to Niflheim.]]

* CripplingOverspecialization: [[spoiler:Halval cannot see beyond the speed of sound; as the broom Dragon Flame Death Heart is supersonic, this costs her the fight]].
* TheBlackSheep: Literally and figuratively. First, she's not very close to the rest of the rebellious demons and they don't trust her that much; and second, she is ostensibly the only dark-haired demon in the whole manga.
* DarkIsEvil: The only way to describe her powers is drowning darkness. It's not only that she makes light absent; for all intents and purposes, light doesn't exist and cannot be generated in her presence.
* DarkerAndEdgier: Curiously, she is the first demon that the Norns and Keiichi face in Hell and she sets the tone for the rest of the arc; that tone? Dark.
* TheDragAlong: She wasn't nearly as invested in the coup as the rest of the demons and was mainly there because Hagall asked her to. After she is defeated, she is out of the picture for the rest of the manga.
* EmptyEyes: Her eyes are pitch black. She does have sclera, but she doesn't seem to have pupils.
* TheLoad: To the rebels at Niflheim. Eihwaz even points out that she doesn't know Halval that well and finds her to be not very trustworthy.
* OverwhelmingException: She is the least violent of the five rebellious demons. That doesn't mean that she isn't tremendously fearsome.
* RuleOfScary: Even Belldandy looks terrified when the lights go out while facing Halval. The Norns and Keiichi spent a considerable amount of time being sitting ducks while Halval just played into their fear.
* SuperSenses: Her main power is the ability to "see" sounds. This means "seeing" loud noises is the equivalent of a bright light in her face.
* [[spoiler:WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Effectively disappears from the story after she loses the fight against the Norns.]]

Thrym is a demon that serves Hagall in the rebellion, that specializes in physical strength. She is a strong, tall and muscular woman, with short hair. She challenges Belldandy and co. and blocks their passage through Nifelheim from chapters 257 to 261. Her strength is so immense she's able to deflect sound-waves by punching in the air. [[spoiler: After the battle she becomes friendly with the group after healing Keiichi's wounds and later wonders if anybody worthy of her strength will challenge her again. She also refuses to accept the defeat as anything other than a legitimate, well-fought one.]]

* ActionGirl
* AffablyEvil: Is overall very friendly, though is at the same time remorseless about any harm she inflicts on others even they can't fight back.
* BoisterousBruiser: Just look at her!
* [[spoiler:DefeatMeansFriendship: Becomes friendly with the Keiichi and the goddesses once they beat her.]]
* LadyLooksLikeADude: If she didn't have such prominent cleavage Thrym wouldn't look female at all.
* MegatonPunch: Anything she punches breaks. [[spoiler: Even songs and giant gothic doors.]]

Hrungnir (also translated as Mokkurkalfi) is also a demon that serves Hagall. She wears a mask and a helmet somewhat resembling an old German WWI uniform. She is a "puppeteer" in that she's able to create and control robots and machines, similar to Skuld. Unlike Skuld, she views her creations as tools rather than with affection. Unsurprisingly, when Keiichi and company confront her, due to disabling magic in the room she ends up fighting Skuld.

* EvilCounterpart: To Skuld,to an extent. Both are young red-clad [[GadgeteerGenius Gadgeteer Geniuses]] whose main strength relies on their inventions.
* HypocriticalHumor: Skuld points out that Hrungnir prides herself too much in her work not to care about it; [[spoiler:she eventually realizes that her crafts actually care about her as they defend her from Skuld's attacks.]]
* NotSoAboveItAll: She might be a demon, but she will not abide to her sister dying [[spoiler:even if that was the plan]]. It even softens Eihwaz' heart a little to hear it from her.
* WrenchWench
* WrongGenreSavvy: No, [[FashionVictimVillain wearing a silly red outfit]] will not make you go faster. This isn't Warhammer40000.

A demon that looks like a five year old girl and seems pretty harmless. She's actually Hrungnir's older sister and Hagall's second in command.

* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: With her sister Hrungnir. According to the latter, Eihwaz is so snappy that it doesn't make it particularly easy to love her.
* TheChessmaster: [[spoiler:Eihwaz created the conditional rooms where most of the action in Niflheim takes place. As it turned out, all the rooms were created to gauge and drain powers from the Goddesses in order to make them vulnerable.]]
* CuteAndPsycho: A cute little girl with a love for karaoke. But she has a really bad attitude waiting to pop out.
* TheDragon: While Hagall is Hild's Dragon, Eihwaz is Hagall's in turn.
* NotSoHarmlessVillain
* NotSoAboveItAll: She is willing to sacrifice herself by setting a barrier in order to protect her sister Hrungnir from Skuld's anti-proton bomb explosion, if only to give her one second more of life. This, after seeing Urd trying to contain the explosion itself to save Skuld.
* OlderThanTheyLook
* PaperFanOfDoom: Whacks Hrungnir with it. "Who are you calling ill-tempered?!"
* SadisticChoice: [[spoiler: Almost forces Keiichi to kill her to save Belldandy from fading into nothingness.]]

[[folder:Dragon Flame Death Heart / Gluhen Des Herzen]]

A magical, demonic, sentient broom that belongs to Hild. It belonged to Welsper before he began his omnicidal crusade.

* TheAce: It's the fastest device in both Heaven and Hell.
* ChekhovsGun: Had it not been there with its supersonic speed, the Norns and Keiichi would not have been able to win over Halval.
* CripplingOverspecialization: It is the fastest broom in both Heaven and Hell, but its range is actually very short.
* DeadpanSnarker: It's snarky and snappy as hell (pardon the pun). It's remarkable, considering it doesn't have a face.
* FatalFlaw: It's proud to a fault.
* {{Foil}}: To the broom Stringfellow, which only requires a pep talk to be fast; also, Stringfellow is very content to just be a broom.
* GeniusBruiser: It's not only that it's fast; it's also tremendously agile in combat, as Halval comes to eventually understand. Had she not given up the fight, he would have killed her.
* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: Invoked. When they first get through the gates of Hell, the Norns notice Keiichi fidgeting while riding Gluhen Des Herzen and begin getting concerned that the speed and the broomstick might be crushing Keiichi's testicles... all of them... yes, even Skuld... yes, seriously.
* HesitantSacrifice: [[spoiler:Skuld basically has to destroy it by overpowering it in order to make it fast enough to get out of Hell]].
* ImpliedTrope: Considering his previous speed records and accomplishments, it's implied that Gluhen Des Herzen would have defeated Belldandy and Stringfellow if Welsper had been the rider.
* NonIndicativeName: Dragon Flame Death Heart is not a broom ''per se''; it's actually a vacuum cleaner.
* NotSoAboveItAll: He misses Welsper very much and has nothing but praise for his former rider; he even considers Welsper as a far superior rider than Hild.
* OffOnATechnicality: In order to race in a proper broom race with Belldandy, Hild has to demonstrate that Gluhen Des Herzen is a vacuum cleaner, even though it looks more like a rocket than a broom.
* PlayedStraight: Aside from Welsper, the Lord of Terror and Garmr, Gluhen Des Herzen is the only being that actually acts like a demon in the series; this means, antagonizing and sometimes brutish.
* PointOfNoReturn: He accompanies Keiichi and Belldandy up until the throne room of Hell. He stops at the door and says that he took them up until the point where he cannot be considered a traitor and that he cannot antagonize the ruler of Hell directly; he then bids farewell to his companions and wishes them luck.
* RuleOfCool: It's a vacuum cleaner that looks like a cross between a harpoon and an electric guitar. It even floors Skuld with its design.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Hild. He even endures an alliance with the Norns for her sake.
* TheUnfettered: Halval genuinely thinks that her life is in danger when Gluhen Des Herzen attacks her. Had she not thrown the towel, he could have killed her.
* UtilityMagic: It's the fastest device ever built... and it's a vacuum cleaner.
* VitriolicBestFriends: He was this with Welsper until he found himself depowered. He was then appropriated by Hild.
* WeAreStrugglingTogether: He cannot abide to a Hell ruled by Hagall, so he allies himself to the Norns and Keiichi in order to topple her.

A character exclusive to the novel ''Ah! My Goddess!: First End'' by Yumi Toma, Urd's seiyuu. She is the governess deity of the dead who is always accompanied by the wolf Garmr.

* AlternateContinuity: It's not known whether this version of Hel is the daughter of Loki or whether she's the sister of Fenrir like in the original Norse mythology.
* BonusBoss: She is at the very least at the same power level as Hild.
* GorgeousGorgon: Described as a "monstrous beauty".
* SecondHandStoryTelling: According to Hild, Hel was the first to notice there was something wrong when [[spoiler:Keiichi and Urd's souls were missing from the universal implosion that killed everyone.]]

The Dread Watchdog of Niflheim. Garmr appears once in the manga after being invoked by mistake and also in ''First End'' as the constant companion of Hel.

* AngryGuardDog [=/=] RightHandAttackDog: He guards Niflheim and he has an attitude to match it. He also accompanies Hel wherever she goes.
* {{Invocation}}: Garmr is mistakenly summoned by Shiho Sakakibara by enacting a spell she does not know. When she tells him so, he goes ballistic.
* SummoningRitual: Sakakibara invokes Garmr while attempting to call a Buddhist spirit. She was doing it that bad.
* WhoDares: Garmr asks why he was summoned. Sakakibara tells him that she wasn't calling him, prompting his ire.

->Voiced by: Creator/YurikoFuchizaki (JP); Creator/EmilyBauer (EN - TV Series), Creator/AmandaSpivey (EN - OVA), Creator/StephanieGreene (EN - Movie)

Keiichi Morisato's younger sister. She attends the Nekomi Institute of Technology (NIT), like Keiichi, as an engineering student. Megumi is also a very skilled mechanic and motorcycle driver. She goes on to become the "queen" of bike racers around Nekomi. Belldandy has remarked that she sees a similarity between Megumi and Skuld, and that she would like to see Skuld learn some things from Megumi. As we know from the recent developments in the manga, she has a lot of success with boys, but she is not lucky in love because all of her boyfriends feel [[NoGuyWantsAnAmazon eclipsed by her motor-queen status]]. The Dark Horse translation suggests there's also a bit of BigBrotherWorship verging on BigBrotherAttraction, as she's shown telling one boy, "You'll never hold a candle to Keiichi."

* TheAlcoholic: Ended up very drunk in one of the later volumes, much to her brother's chagrin.
* BigEater: In her early manga appearances she's constantly snacking. This was phased out after ArtEvolution made her more attractive.
* BikerBabe: The "Queen of the Ridge", a title she earned by winning ''multiple races around a mountain road against the previous holder''. Notably, she doesn't like the title...see NoGuyWantsAnAmazon and OvershadowedByAwesome for why.
* CatSmile: Her default expression. It's even more pronounced [[DemonicPossession when Mara took over her body]].
* CelebrityIsOverrated: She is the so-called "Motor-Queen" of NIT. She doesn't like it that much because whenever she starts dating someone, her "subjects" turn antagonistic towards said person because of her status, and dating her is carrying a banner. The other problem is that she is the Queen whether she likes it or not.
* DivingSave: [[spoiler:In ''First End'', Keiichi dies in this manner [[BigBrotherInstinct to save her life in a traffic accident]]]].
* NoGuyWantsAnAmazon: Every guy she dates breaks up with her because they can't handle the pressure going out with the Nekomi's [[InSeriesNickname Queen of the Ridge]].
* OvershadowedByAwesome: Not many know it, but she refuses to be called Queen (short for "Queen of the Ridge") because, in her words, the true king is Keiichi, and Belldandy his queen.
* PassionateSportsGirl: She's in the Softball Club, very good at the sport and is very determined to keep the club alive.
* PluckyGirl: Nothing fazes her.
* WrenchWench: As a Morisato, she's gotta be.

[[folder:Toraichi Tamiya]]
->Voiced by: Creator/KiyoyukiYanada (JP); Creator/MarcMatney (EN - OVA), Creator/BobPapenbrook (EN - Movie), Creator/MarcThompson (EN, TV Series)

One of the former directors of the Motor Club and Keiichi's sempai. Recognizable by his muscular body and thick lips. Is almost always never seen without his [[HeterosexualLifePartners partner]] Otaki by his side.

* BigEater: Is notorious for eating other people's boxed lunches. In the Golden Hammer Rally the prize money for the race (which Keiichi and Belldandy won) had to be withheld due to him and friends consuming all the food provided by the sponsors.
* CloudCuckooLander: Both him and Otaki are a tad eccentric.
* DropInCharacter: Frequently pops out of nowhere and [[StealthHiBye disappears into nowhere]]. He almost always appears behind Keiichi, usually to announce Motor Club-related stuff.
* {{Gonk}}: The guy is freaky-looking, arguably more so ''after'' ArtEvolution. His sunken eyes and fish lips is the main factor.
* TheGlomp: How Tamiya welcomes all new members of the Auto Club. Most end up quitting immediately.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: with Otaki.
* InSeriesNickname: Is called "Den-chan" by Otaki.
* JustFriends: Tamiya and Otaki might be inconsiderate, brutish and dismissive of Keiichi, but they are the only two young men that never ogle at Belldandy even once. If anything, they're surprisingly respectful of their relationship
* MistakenForGay: When he talks to Keiichi about Peorth (who he had a crush on) on a corner, the goddess assumes that those two are into each other.
* ThemeNaming: Tamiya, Otaki and Hasegawa are all named for Japanese model-making companies.
* TopHeavyGuy: He becomes bulkier as the series progresses. Originally he's the same size as Otaki.

One of the former directors of the Motor Club and Keiichi's sempai. Is almost always never seen without his [[HeterosexualLifePartners partner]] Tamiya by his side. Always wears a black biker jacket and spark plugs for earrings. Eventually, he starts dating Satoko Yamano, one of the campus' most attractive female students.

* CloudCuckooLander: Both him and Tamiya are a tad eccentric.
* CrazyPrepared: This guy wears ''spark plugs'' for earrings. He always have spare parts ready, even during summer vacations.
* {{Cosplay}}: His hobby, also one of the things he shares with Satoko.
* EightiesHair: A mullet.
* EvenNerdsHaveStandards: Although he and his girlfriend are both cosplayers, he finds Mr. Yamano's interest in cosplay to be so intense as to be kind of creepy.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Tamiya (though unlike Tamiya, he gets a girlfriend).
* InSeriesNickname: Is called "Dai-chan" by Tamiya.
* JustFriends: Tamiya and Otaki might be inconsiderate, brutish and dismissive of Keiichi, but they are the only two young men that never ogle at Belldandy even once. If anything, they're surprisingly respectful of their relationship.
* LiteralMinded: When he asked what should he wear for a dinner at Satoko's house Belldandy suggested something noble and elegant like a knight, so he grabbed his fullmetal armor.
* ThemeNaming: Tamiya, Otaki and Hasegawa are all named for Japanese model-making companies.

Keiichi's [[SempaiKohai kohai]], the former treasurer, bookkeeper and current director of the N.I.T. Motor Club.

* ACupAngst: Much to her chagrin.
* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: She's in love with Aoshima, but she's too timid to do something about it. Aoshima isn't nearly as jerky with her as with other people (at least he knows her name, which is something).
* BeleagueredBureaucrat: As the treasurer of the Motor Club, she is the ultimate person that says what can/cannot be done with budget, which brings her considerable angst. Unwittingly, she starts being seen as an authority and later becomes the director of the Motor Club. She might not be a gear-head, but she is at the very least a very good bookkeeper and administrator.
* BerserkButton: Don't ever, ever say that she looks like a high-schooler.
* CoolCar: Drives a tuned-up original Fiat 500. She later buys a motorcycle built by Tamiya and Otaki.
* HiddenDepths: Revealed to have good direction skills in Sora Unchained arc; she knows how to find which shortcuts to use depending on the time and the situation.
* InformedAbility: Implied to be a WrenchWench by virtue of her being in the Nekomi Motor Cycle Club as well as a few comments by the other club members, though we never actually see her working on anything.
* LethalChef: Her nickname was the "Chef Murderer," Belldandy eventually [[CharacterDevelopment helps her get better]]. Actually, her case is an interesting subversion. In the TV series, she was actually a great cook, but suffered a HeroicBSOD whenever asked to cook for an audience, causing her skills to deteriorate. This tied into the plot of the episode, where she had performance-anxiety issues about a go-kart race for NIT's Auto Club. Again, Belldandy, being the kind of [[PhysicalGoddess "person"]] she is, helped Sora get [[{{Pun}} (heh)]] back on track.
* {{Meganekko}}: When she's not in her OpaqueNerdGlasses mode.
* OpaqueNerdGlasses: Her glasses become these anytime she's out of focus in a panel or placed in a comical situation.
* ThemeNaming: Tamiya, Otaki and Hasegawa are all named for Japanese model-making companies.

[[folder:Sayoko Mishima]]
->Voiced by: Creator/JunkoAsami (JP - OVA), Creator/MamikoNoto (JP - TV); Creator/KarenNeill (EN - TV Series), Creator/BelindaBizic (EN - OVA)

A popular girl at Nekomi Tech, to the point where she considers herself the "queen" of the school. She is also quite rich, coming from a wealthy family: she has her own apartment and an expensive car, and gets to throw lavish parties with very important people.

When Belldandy appears, all the guys' attention turns to her rather than Sayoko. She immediately becomes jealous of Belldandy and wants to make her upset by seducing Keiichi, even though Sayoko doesn't have any interest in him. She even goes to the lengths of teaming up with Toshiyuki Aoshima (her younger cousin) and Mara to bring Bell down. They Fail. As the series progresses, she gradually becomes less and less antagonistic, even offering Keiichi relationship advice and foiling Mara's schemes. It seems as though she develops feelings for Keiichi at the beginning of season 2, when she didn't feel as lonely when he was with her. Sayoko has seen both Urd and Belldandy use their powers, although she now believes that Belldandy is a witch. She is shown to have much pride, and seems to almost enjoy competing with Belldandy at times.

* ArbitrarySkepticism: She realizes that something is up with Belldandy, but refuses to believe her when she says she's a goddess. Instead, she assumes she's lying and is really a witch. In the anime, she even assumes that "Goddess" is merely a title because she calls herself "Queen".
* AmbiguousSyntax: In the end of the Queen Sayoko arc, she is forced by Mara to command Belldandy to "go back home" with the firm intention of sending Belldandy back to Heaven; turns out, Belldandy's home isn't heaven anymore, it's the Tarikihongan Temple at Nekomi, which is precisely where an unconsolable Keiichi finds her when he returns "home".
* BeneathTheMask: She'd actually like Belldandy if she stopped praising herself so much and the residents of Tarikihongan wouldn't object calling her a friend should she just lay off her pride; as a matter of fact, she's the only person that ever comes close to ''not liking Belldandy'' and ''not being liked by Belldandy'', though being bombarded with kindness from her reduced it to just plain avoidance in the end.
* BitchAlert: The first time we see her (in Keiichi's flashback, no less) we can guess she's a bitch.
* BondageIsBad: She's more of a jerk, but she's also a member of the BDSM club.
** BrainsAndBondage: As a college student, we can guess she has quite the brain.
* CharacterDevelopment: Starts out as wanting to steal Keiichi simply to beat Belldandy, but later on [[LadykillerInLove seems to develop]] [[BecomingTheMask genuine feelings for him.]] Like Urd, how she was drawn later on also reflects her character development; she's gradually drawn to look less bitchy and menacing.
* EvilIsPetty: When first introduced, she literally has it all - beauty, brains, money, and a powerful family that owns an influential corporation. But because Belldandy upstaged her in the desirability department, she becomes an emotional wreck and shows off a mile wide vindictive streak. Naturally, Mara takes advantage of this more than once in her attempts to mess with Belldandy.
* HarmlessVillain: Doesn't really have that much of a evil streak. Possibly because she does seem to develop genuine feelings for Keiichi and other antagonists overshadow her quickly.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Most of the problems she faces against the Goddesses stem from the fact that she is a very lonely person. The main problem is that she wants what she cannot have, which is Keiichi.
* ImpliedTrope:
** During the Chrono arc, Belldandy, Keiichi and Chrono find Sayoko drumming on cans on the street. She argues that she felt the need to bang on the cans, but unlike the rest of the people who are victims of the program, she is aware that something is wrong, it's not something that she would rationally do and she is somewhat aware that Keiichi and Belldandy are able to do something about it, so she asks him for help.
** She attended NIT with Belldandy and Keiichi, though it seems that she didn't become a gearhead like them. As her father is the owner of one the largest car model producers in Japan, it's assumed that Sayoko went to NIT mainly to study mechanical and automotive design.
* {{Jerkass}}: Early-on in the anime and the manga, at least; she's not as bad in the OVA.
* JerkassFacade: Later in the manga her main drive is that she has a reputation to maintain... only that no one is paying attention.
* LadyDrunk: She readily drowns her sorrows after anything bad happens to her.
* LadyKillerInLove: A Gender Inversion.
--> '' "why do the words and the smile of a pathetic guy like him have the power to make a queen like me feel like such a piece of garbage?" ''
* LastLousyPoint: She has money, an important name, social status, attractiveness and a line of suitors; the only problem is that she doesn't have any friends and the first and only person she wants affection from doesn't see her that way... ''he just wants her as a friend''. This, of course, bugs her to no end.
* ManipulativeBitch: At the beginning.
* NoblewomansLaugh: Sometimes.
* RichBitch: Originally, though it was revealed that she was a LonelyRichKid deep inside.
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: It was [[NiceGuy Keiichi]] whom she wanted all along, creating an UnrequitedLoveSwitcheroo situation for her.
* TheOjou
* TheRival: Fancies herself as this to Belldandy. [[SarcasmMode It's gone quite well for her.]]
* [[UnfazedEveryman Unfazed Everywoman]]: Mara gave her a freakin' palace and complete dominion over its physics from thin air, but somehow she is still skeptic about Belldandy and her sisters being anything other than regular women.
* VictoryIsBoring: [[spoiler: When a wish from Mara puts Belldandy in a stop where Sayoko has mind controlled her, she loses interest in having Belldandy bow to her because she wants to prove herself better on her own terms.]] Mara had other plans, but they didn't work out.
* WorthyOpponent: She eventually comes to see Belldandy as this and even begins to betray some admiration for her. It doesn't help her case as a rival when Keiichi, Belldandy and her sisters do express sincere concern for her well being. Belldandy herself has made clear that ''she doesn't want Sayoko as her rival'', but she'd fight for Keiichi against her if she has to. Pig-headed as she is, Sayoko doesn't quite get all the hints Belldandy leaves her, so there's that.

[[folder:Toshiyuki Aoshima]]
->Voiced by: Creator/NobuoTobita (JP); Creator/MarcDiraison (EN - TV Series), Creator/ScottHoule (EN - OVA)

A playboy around the Nekomi Institute of Technology campus and Sayoko's cousin. He is enamoured of Belldandy and tries often to steal her away from Keiichi, going as far as to set up a rival motor club. However, in just about all of his attempts, he fails miserably. In the TV series, he and his cousin Sayoko can be identified by the supercars that they drive, in Aoshima's case, an Enzo Ferrari (Ferrari 288 GTO in the manga).

* AttemptedRape: Almost had his way with both Belldandy and [[OvernightAgeUp Skuld]] in separate occasions but got {{jossed}} ''in extremis''.
* AssholeVictim: Pretty much brings misfortune on himself because he's an asshole.
* BespectacledBastardBoyfriend: Has shades of this, especially when he turns on the "rapist" mode.
* BreakTheHaughty: Thinks ''extremely'' highly of himself and Karma's a bitch.
* TheCasanova: Especially towards Belldandy and Adult!Skuld.
* FourEyesZeroSoul: Jerk. Ass. Extraordinare.
* {{Jerkass}}: Don'tcha want to just bitchslap him?
* PetTheDog: He finally showed a bit of concern when he found Sora in pain. [[spoiler:And promptly got knocked out by her rapidly expanding boobs!]]
* ShipperOnDeck: In chapter 49, he tries to ship Keiichi and Sora together so that he can have Belldandy for himself.

[[folder:Chihiro Fujimi]]
[[caption-width:319:Click [[labelnote:here]] http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chihiro_54.jpg[[/labelnote]] to see Chihiro in the TV Anime]]
->Voiced by: Creator/YukaImai (JP); Creator/DorothyEliasFahn (EN - Movie), Creator/VeronicaTaylor (EN - TV Series)

The original founder and director of the Nekomi Institute of Technology Motor Club. She is a resolute person and an incredibly skilled mechanic and motorcycle driver, even more so than Keiichi. She gives up professional racing and starts up her own motorcycle shop called Whirlwind, hiring Keiichi and Belldandy to work for her (with Tamiya and Otaki as temps and backup). Normally a no-nonsense personality, she has a soft spot for cute objects, cats and children and seems to enjoy relaxing activities (such as bathing in an onsen) and having fun. She drives a Krauser Domani [=SSi=]. When she was director of the N.I.T. motor club, both Tamiya and Otaki confessed they loved her but she turned them both down rather than cause conflict in the club. Both Tamiya and Otaki respect and fear her very much, obediently following her orders.

* AuthorAppeal: The cool headed, mature "goddess of mechanics" seems to be the mangaka's personal dream girl. Maybe this is why she is not romantically interested in anyone.
* BadassNormal: Can cow Tamiya and Otaki with a single glance.
* BenevolentBoss: Chihiro is Keiichi's friend '''first''' and her boss second. She's even willing to go to his house to check on him if there are mere hints that something's not OK.
* BikerBabe: Though far from a leather-clad Hell's Angel.
* CoolBigSis: For Keiichi and later for Megumi too in all but name. As Hasegawa's Sempai at the Motor Club, she serves this purpose along Keiichi as well.
* CutenessProximity: Chihiro is a sucker for anything cute.
* ImpliedTrope: By the way she is presented, she could have easily been a "Motor-Queen" before Megumi and the previous Queen.
* LateToTheParty: After their ordeal with the Lorelei, the fatigued gang returns to the hotel and end up collapsing together on the floor. Chihiro finds them and throws a fit, so they assume she thinks that they did funny stuff together; she's actually upset that they didn't invite her to the booze.
* TheOneThatGotAway: To Tamiya and Otaki. They both proposed to her and she turned them down (not because she doesn't love them back, but actually because she couldn't decide between the two). One of the main reasons she keeps them around is because they are her friends and they still love her and respect her ''very'' much, though one of their misgivings is that they cannot help but to treat her as their superior all the time.
* ShipperOnDeck: Ships Keiichi/Belldandy.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: She's a tough, no nonsense, motorcycle-riding, drag-racing, mechanical genius who's also a huge fan for everything that's even the slightest bit cute.
* VitriolicBestBuds: She's for all intents and purposes the big sister that Keiichi never had.
* WeaksauceWeakness: See CutenessProximity.
* WrenchWench: So much so that Keiichi says that she could almost be a goddess of mechanics.

[[folder:Sentaro Kawanishi]]
-->Voiced by Romi Park (JP); Barbara Goodson (EN)

A biker boy that befriends Skuld and the object of her affections.

* AllergicToRoutine: He is very passionate about BMX and practices by the riverbank at every opportunity he has. Meeting Skuld only made it even better.
* EveryScarHasAStory: He gets upset at Skuld for fixing his bicycle to pristine conditions because every dent in the framework meant a gradual step toward becoming better at BMX. He is particularly upset at her for erasing the dent that resulted from the accident he had when he first met ''her''.
* TheEveryman: Apart from his passion for BMX, Sentaro is just a regular schoolkid.
* MentorArchetype: This is the type of relationship he has with Belldandy, who is more than ready to coach him regarding his pursuit of Skuld. The more he talks with Belldandy, the more he wants to be with Skuld.
* ThePowerOfLove: It's meeting Sentaro what made Skuld considerably more familiar with wielding her powers.
* PyrrhicVictory: Skuld actually getting closer to Sentaro only served her to lose Noble Scarlet the first time. [[spoiler:She wouldn't see her angel again until ''Fighting Wings'']].
* RelationshipUpgrade: As curious as it sounds, it's Skuld who is trying to court Sentaro and not the other way around; she's actively trying to take it one step ahead, though she's slow and inexperienced at it.
* SingleTargetSexuality: He aims only for Skuld, even when Urd throws herself at him to spite Skuld.
* UnfazedEveryman: He seems to be the only person outside Tarikihongan that is fully aware that Skuld and her sisters are actual goddesses. He doesn't pay mind to that in the very least.
* VitriolicBestBuds: He's Skuld's best friend and they both take with dismay the very thought of not being able to see each other.

[[folder:Satoko Yamano]]
->Voiced by: Creator/ChieNakamura (JP); Creator/StephanieSheh (EN)

Daughter one of the directors of the Nekomi Institute of Technology where she's a freshman in electronics. She is quite attractive—even Keiichi comments that she is one of the top five most attractive girls at Nekomi Tech. She meets Otaki when her scooter breaks down on campus and Otaki decides to help her despite the insistence of Aoshima that she ride his car instead. [[spoiler:They start going out and she eventually gets her father's approval of Otaki.]]

* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: She hasn't appeared or been mentioned in the manga in over a decade.
* CosplayOtakuGirl: One of the things that she shares in common with Otaki.
** Apparently, she gets it from her dad, which unnerves Otaki to no end when he tries to get him to try different outfits.
* ShrinkingViolet: Very much shy.

[[folder:Dr. Morozumi]]
!!AKA "Dr. Morrow"/ "Dr. Moreau"

A professor at NIT an industrial engineer and robotics researcher, Dr. Morozumi is an obsessive man fixed in perfecting the mechanics of human-like locomotion, particularly making robots walk.

* AbhorrentAdmirer: He is fascinated by the automaton Sigel and stalks her to kidnap her in order to dismantle her to find out the nature of her walking mechanism.
* CreepyGood: He is a man of science that is in a serious research block that makes him obsessive and reclusive. He isn't very keen in social cues and is an altogether unpleasant guy. Misguided as he is, his actions don't actually point towards him proceeding out of malice, but rather despair.
* InUniverseNickname: NIT students refer to him as "Dr. Morrow" or "Dr. Moreau" as a reference to ''Literature/TheIslandOfDoctorMoreau'' and its MadScientist {{Deuteragonist}}, especially due to his obsessive and reclusive nature.
* {{Jerkass}}: He almost kills Sigel because he doesn't consider her a living being.
* JustAMachine [=/=] NotEvenHuman: His justification to kidnap and dismantle Sigel is that he doesn't see her as a sentient being, but only as a machine.
* NeverLendToAFriend: He exploits Chihiro for mechanical parts by overplaying him being her former teacher at NIT. Problem is, there is only so much respect she has for him when he doesn't pay her back. He has owed her a lot of money for a long time.
* NoSocialSkills: The main reason most people avoid him is because of not only this, but also because he has little social boundaries and doesn't bother asking for permission.
* ScienceIsBad: He is willing to forego various moral barriers in order to advance his research. Judging by his attitude, he is way past the point of desperation.
* TheThingThatWouldNotLeave: He kidnaps Sigel even when Belldandy tells him that she's a sentient being; he becomes the unintended victim of this when Belldandy makes his inventions sentient and eager to walk... as a matter of fact, they don't shut up about it.
* WhiteAndGreyMorality: He commits crimes such as kidnapping Sigel and threatening to dismantle her to re-engineer her mechanics for the sake of science. It takes an ass kicking from Banpei and a word from Belldandy to make him see the error on his way.
* WritersBlock: The whole reason he kidnapped Sigel is because he hit an insurmountable plateau in his locomotion research.

[[folder: The Kakuta Professors]]
!!AKA Nekomi Tech's Dual Horns
A married couple of professors from NIT. Professor Kakuta (him) was Keiichi's professor.

* CoolTeacher: To Keiichi. Most of Professor Ozawa's students skipped his classes in order to go to Kakuta's, especially considering that Kakuta is a pleasant man where Ozawa isn't.
* HappilyAdopted: Professor Kakuta was adopted by his wife's family. His original name before he legally changed it was Kenji Tobita.
* IWasQuiteTheLooker: Professor Kakuta (her) is mentioned by various characters to have been a remarkably beautiful woman in the photographs recovered from her husband's camera.
* RedOniBlueOni: He is the blue to Professor Ozawa's red.
* TheRival: He is one to Professor Ozawa, though he isn't very keen at humoring Ozawa with the rivalry. It's mostly out of Ozawa's side.
* SunkCostFallacy: In 1964 he spent all of his savings in a camera to photograph his fiancee. She is not very happy about this and makes him lock the camera away.

[[folder:Professor Ozawa]]

A teacher at NIT and the self-professed rival of Professor Kakuta.

* {{Jerkass}}: He is an outright unpleasant man.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Though his students like to play hooky and attend Kakuta's classes, it doesn't mean that he isn't qualified to do his job. The whole situation means he is about to lose his job if he lets it worsen.
* LawfulStupid: Belldandy ''is'' actually trying to get into NIT to be with Keiichi through alternative means; the guy is very right to be suspicious, but for the entirely wrong reasons; a couple of these reasons are that he is suspecting foul play from Kakuta and that they (Kakuta and Belldandy) are proceeding out of malice and trying to make him look bad.
* TheRival: To Professor Kakuta, though it's only from his own side.
* SkippingSchool: His students do not like going to his classes and rather go to Kakuta's. Kakuta picks up his slack, but he isn't quite happy about it either.
* SuperOCD: He fixes his eyes on Belldandy because he doesn't remember her on the institute's roster. He spends a rather long time and a considerable effort trying to prove that she isn't a student. Tamiya notes that once he engages in something, he pursues it obsessively.
* TryingToCatchMeFightingDirty: He actively tries to uncover dirt on Kakuta. One of his beliefs is that Kakuta put Belldandy in his own roster to attract students away from his class.

[[folder:Shiho Sakakibara]]
->Voiced by: Creator/AsamiSanada (JP); Creator/EricaSchroeder (EN)

A freshman electronics student at NIT and an extremely amateurish exorcist.

* CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot: The plot thickens not only because Sakakibara is making the wrong thing, but also because Belldandy is enabling her by staying quiet and not admitting that she is ''not OK'' with other girls hitting on Keiichi (which she did with other girls previously and Peorth later on, but minus the jealousy outbursts), and not realizing that she isn't nearly as magnanimous as she thought she would be about the whole ordeal.
* CuteAndPsycho: She's ''very'' pretty (enough to make Belldandy jealous), and albeit she's not that crazy, she is very delusional when it comes to her "abilities".
* DoNotTauntCthulhu: She summons Garmr by mistake and tells him that this wasn't intentional. Garmr understandably takes a slight at this.
* FallingIntoHisArms: Belldandy goes ballistic because Sakakibara is a little too touchy with Keiichi, even when she's not intending to do it.
* HollywoodExorcism: She mixes up spells, casts an even religions.
* KnowNothingKnowItAll: She creates enormous problems and she takes credit when they are solved.
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: She's deluded herself into believing that she is a good exorcist. She's dangerously unprepared at doing so.
* LethalHarmlessPowers: The irony of it all is that Sakakibara ''does'' have special powers in the first place, as she was able to summon Garmr accidentally with incantations; she successfully exhibits an amplified version of these powers during the Queen Sayoko arc. The castle enhances the powers of individuals that have powers already, as Urd and Skuld find out. Still, even when Sakakibara is considerably more powerful, [[UselessSuperpowers she is no more a threat than she was before]].
* LoveLetterLunacy: She contacts Keiichi through a love letter in his locker, only for him to realize that she thinks that he's haunted and she wants to do the exorcism.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: She is a little too cuddly with Keiichi for comfort. It's not clear whether this is the case with everyone of her "clients", but it's quite enough to make Belldandy fume.
* PsychicPowers: She thinks that she can feel spirits haunting people and buildings. She doesn't realize that she's playing with fire when she summons Garmr, a hellish creature. She later thanks Keiichi with a kiss on the cheek for validating her delusions.

->Voiced by: [[http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Creator/Mugihito Mugihito]] (JP); Creator/MikePollock (EN)

The Buddhist monk that ran the Tarikihongan Temple before it became the main protagonists' residence.

* CoolOldGuy: He is a cheerful, caring and devout man who gave Belldandy and Keiichi shelter when they needed it the most. He made them work for it, though.
* PutOnABus: He never came back from his pilgrimage. He does show up once again in the TV show, but Urd and Skuld send him back running to his travels.
* SpotTheImposter: He initially thinks that Belldandy is a demon, but realizes that she's the complete opposite. He decides to seek a level of enlightenment like hers and leaves the temple to engage in pilgrimage.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: He allows Keiichi and Belldandy to stay at the temple, but he makes them do the maintenance and cleaning on it. It's especially grueling on Keiichi.
* WalkingTheEarth: He went to walk the Earth seeking spiritual enlightenment... in the late 1980's. He didn't come back.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: That's quite the pilgrimage he's on, considering he left the temple early in the story

[[folder:The Motor-Queen]]

A street motorcycle racer that rivals Megumi.

* AloofDarkHairedGirl: She has overtones of this.
* AlwaysSecondBest: She lost to Megumi twice even though she has a more powerful bike. She relents her title to Megumi due to this.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Megumi lets her see that both are nowhere as good as Keiichi and Belldandy.
* BitCharacter: She's tied to the road, she always wears her racing attire, she doesn't appear that much and she doesn't seem to be a student at NIT.
* BrilliantButLazy: She's an excellent rider, but she loses against Megumi and Keiichi because she performs minimal maintenance on her bike.
* UnknownRival: She's racing for the sake of racing; Megumi is racing to get to class in time.
* WeirdnessMagnet: Whenever something supernatural happens on the road, it happens to her.
* WorthyOpponent: To Megumi

[[folder:Kozueko Izumi]]

A character exclusive of the book ''Ah! My Goddess!: First End'' by Yumi Tohma (as authorized by Kosuke Fujishima himself), Izumi is a student at Nekomi Tech who meets Keiichi on an event organized by the Motor Club. [[spoiler:Izumi is the person that Keiichi would have met had he and Belldandy failed to meet.]]

* [[spoiler:DownerEnding: Izumi and Keiichi's relationship comes to fruition at the cost of his relationship with Belldandy. Had Belldandy hung on, reality would have been shattered. In the end, the Goddesses memories are erased for their security and Belldandy only hangs on to the ring Keiichi gave her as a gift without any knowledge of where it came from.]]
* ReplacementGoldfish and TheOtherDarrin: [[spoiler:To Belldandy. When Belldandy realizes that clinging to Keiichi would result not only in his death but on the destruction of the universe itself, Keiichi's prospective relationship with Izumi as shown by Hild makes Belldandy abandon her relationship with Keiichi with full assurance that he would be happy even without her.]]

!Other Characters

[[folder:Angels and Familiars]]

Heavenly and demonic entities that are bound to goddesses and demons respectively in order to enhance their powers and indicators of their state; the angels and familiars featured in the story are:

* '''Holy Bell''': Belldandy's angel
* '''World Of Elegance''': Urd's angel
* '''Noble Scarlet''': Skuld's angel
* '''Gorgeous Rose''': Peorth's angel
* '''Spear Mint''' and '''Cool Mint''': Lind's twin one-winged angels.
* '''Die Wespe der Blauen Lanze''' (Blue Lance's Wasp): Welsper's familiar.
* Mokkurkalfi's mechanical familiars.

Tropes that apply to the angels/familiars:
* AntiGravityClothing: Their garbs consist of nothing but floating strips of fabric (in Gorgeous Rose's case; thorny vines) which conveniently cover all interesting bits.
* BeautyIsNeverTarnished: Indirectly: whenever goddesses are sick or receive damage, it's their angels who show the obvious physical changes that are being incurred.
* BeneathTheMask: Invoked. The angels are subject to the exact same emotions as their hosts; it's specially egregious in the case of Noble Scarlet, as all of her initial actions when she was diminutive reflected Skuld's desires and behaved accordingly. Whereas Skuld wanted to approach Sentaro, Noble Scarlet pushes her to do so and whereas Skuld orders her to go back into her egg form should she do something like that again, the little angel literally does so much to Skuld's anguish.
* CuteBruiser: All angels, though Lind's twin angels and Noble Scarlet are of special mention.
* [[GuardianAngel Guardian Angels]]: An angel is a goddess's closest companion, and is the mirror reflecting a goddess's true nature and innermost soul.
* HeroicBSOD: According to Keiichi (who is as a matter of fact the only human to have hosted an angel), the sense of loss that goddesses feel when their angels are removed from them is effectively crippling; in perspective, during the battle against the Angel Eater, Lind lost both Spear Mint and Cool Mint.
* LiteralMinded: In the case of young angels and familiars such as Noble Scarlet and Die Wespe der Blauen Lanze, which causes considerable problems for their hosts.
* NotSoDifferent: Angels and familiars can both be bound to goddesses and perform similar functions to their respective hosts. Demons don't usually employ familiars because they consider them a vulnerability.
* [[PluckyGirl Plucky Girls]]: In droves.
* ThePowerOfFriendship: Angels are introduced to goddesses at an early age as permanent companions and enhancers of their powers.
* RuleOfCute: All angels (and even the familiar) share the same perkiness and enthusiasm. Not to mention, they're all very [[CuddleBug affectionate]] [[BearHug huggers]].
* TheSymbiote: Goddesses and angels are effectively dependent of one another once they are bound. [[spoiler:This is a vulnerability that is exploited at least twice in the manga by demons.]]
* {{Synchronization}}: Angels are psychically linked to their goddess hosts.
* TwoBeingsOneBody: In most cases; in the case of Lind, it's three beings in one body.
* TheVoiceless: To mortals. The angels can speak not only to their goddess hosts but also to one another. Inexperienced angels and goddesses have to communicate via gestures, though time makes the communication between the parts implicit, as they are one mind and one soul.

Banpei is a Buddhist-monk-like robot built by Skuld that resides in the Tarikihongan Temple. His original job was to guard the temple from the demon Mara. Programmed to be extremely territorial, Banpei develops a personality in which he gradually becomes more attached to the inhabitants of the temple that grows into an automatic, independent intelligence.

* AccidentalPervert: The main reason why Sigel doesn't want him close to her is that she finds his devotion to her creepy. It doesn't help that whenever she starts to mellow down, something happens that makes Banpei look like a pervert in Sigel's eyes.
* AlternateSelf: There have actually been two Banpeis proper. The first Banpei was shown to grow extremely aggressive and territorial towards all residents of Tarikihongan except Belldandy; much if not all of that Banpei's sentience was lost when he ran out of battery power. The second Banpei is the one featured in the rest of the story.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: The second Banpei is much nicer than the first one, but once Sigel is in danger he will draw a really angry face on himself and go berserk towards the assaulter.
* CrazyPrepared: Banpei arms himself with every possible weapon and upgrade available as soon as he hears Sigel in distress.
* CuteMachines: As with all of Skuld's inventions, he is cute for a robot.
* JustAMachine: Personality-wise, Skuld argues that there is nothing in Banpei's programming that would have led him to fall in love with the automaton who would later be named Sigel. Belldandy proves her wrong.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: He is willing to self-destruct if it means saving Sigel. She isn't having any of that sort of talk, however.
* KingMook: Leads an army of Mimawaris (essentially mini-Banpeis) against Keima, who literally disarmed the hostile Sigel out of self-defense.
* MeaningfulName: ''Banpei'' is the Pinyin of Chinese Mandarin for "a good fit" or "to be well matched". Its design is a vague nod to a Buddhist monk motif.
* PygmalionPlot: With Sigel. When he begins longing for a more equal partner, he asks Skuld to give Sigel sentience; though Skuld makes it happen, it doesn't work very for him which leads to a...
* PygmalionSnapback: Sigel isn't very happy at Banpei's single-sided affections.
* RidiculouslyHumanRobots: Banpei is very feisty and emotional, even though he doesn't have facial expression.
* RobotBuddy: Due to Skuld's tinkering, Banpei can have an infinite array of upgrades and functions.
* SurveillanceDrone: His original work aside from guarding the temple.
* TalkingWithSigns / TheVoiceless: Invoked, but not with signs proper. Banpei can only communicate with gestures and doesn't have the capacity of speech, so he carries an erasable marker everywhere that he uses to draw facial expressions in his own face.

An automaton girl that Banpei finds while driving by the riverbank, becoming infatuated with her. Sigel is initally a "Greeting" robot that greets clients on a small locale, though Banpei eventually asks Skuld to give her sentience; however, Skuld forgets to program any friendship or kindness towards Banpei, which makes Sigel extremely wary and callous towards the robot (not that this prevents Banpei from trying).

* ClockworkCreature: Sigel is very human-like for an automaton.
* DamselInDistress: Sigel often finds herself in this situation much to her annoyance, as it means that she has to rely in Banpei's rescue.
* {{Fauxshadowing}}: [[spoiler:Sigel doesn't get repaired at the end of of the manga after Lind's unwitting magic tampering.]]
* {{Fembot}} / RobotGirl: To Banpei's man-bot.
* HollywoodDensity: She is light and small enough to stand balanced on Keiichi's head without visible discomfort from him.
* JustFriends: Sigel comes to realize that she doesn't want Banpei to pursue her, but rather to keep each other company.
* TheLoad: Due to the limited features installed in her by Skuld compared to Banpei, Sigel tends to see herself this way. [[spoiler:In the end of the manga, she is left alone in the temple in a state of complete disrepair and she mentions this trope.]]
* LoveImbuesLife: Subverted. This is what Banpei intended when Skuld gave sentience to Sigel, though it didn't turn the way he wanted; as such, Sigel does feel this way towards her main benefactor, Skuld.
* MeaningfulName: ''Sigel'' the name of the runic symbol ᛋ; itself is the Anglo-Saxon derivative of the Proto-Germanic word ''Sowilō'', which means "Sun" and "Victory". Belldandy gave it to her because it's ''"the rune which reveals life"''.
* NonLethalKO: Sigel is ''very'' fragile in this respect. She is knocked unconscious about every time she appears in the manga, as her body has a mechanism to shut down to preserve basic functions intact. This makes her rely on Banpei or Skuld more than she'd like to.
* NotSoAboveItAll: She avoids Banpei with a passion, but to some degree she does recognize that Banpei is her friend and most loyal companion.
* PygmalionPlot / PygmalionSnapback: With Banpei until she was given sentience by Skuld.
* RidiculouslyHumanRobots: She just might as well be a little girl other than her RocketPunch. This is the very reason why Dr. Morrow is interested in dissecting her to find out about her components and the nature of her bipedal locomotion (which is his main focus in robotics).
* RocketPunch: Sigel's signature offensive move; it's her signature move because it's her ''only move''. Predictably, she continuously complains to Skuld about her apparent lack of battle features.
* RollerbladeGood: Sigel's preferred method of locomotion. She has motorized rollers installed on her heels.
* SelfDestructMechanism: Subverted. Sigel threatens to self-destruct when Skuld tries to force her to like Banpei; though Skuld argues that it's an empty threat since she didn't install a sequence like that in Sigel, she eventually relents because Sigel is deadpan serious about not being forced. It's also a callback to RuleOfFunny, as most if not all of Skuld's inventions ''do'' have a self-destruct feature.
* StubbornMule: Belldandy calls her out on her disdain towards Banpei, telling her that although keeping a distance is not wrong, there's no reason for her to ''hate'' someone that loves her so obviously and is almost entirely devoted to her.
* TorpedoTits: Subverted, though lampshaded; Sigel really expected to have these on her chest and Skuld promptly tells her that she didn't even remotely think of the possibility of installing those in Sigel. Instead, she has recharging plugs on her chest.
* {{Tsundere}}: Harsh as sandpaper towards Banpei when she's given sentience, though she slowly mellows out.
* [[spoiler:WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Due to Lind's witless magic, Sigel is left alone in the temple deformed by the wonky spells. This is never addressed again.]]

[[folder:Keima & Takano Morisato]]

Keichi and Megumi's very eccentric parents.

* TheAce: Takano, at playing Mahjong; she is good enough to beat goddesses.
* ActionDad: Regardless of his eccentricities, Keima is the person that instilled the passion for mechanics and motorsports into Keiichi and Megumi.
* AlmightyMom: Takano's obviously the one person keeping Keima from driving everyone else insane.
* AnticlimacticParent: The goddesses notice first hand the dangers of Keima's heterophobia, as he shows them exactly what Megumi and Keiichi told them he would be; Takano, however, is not mentioned beforehand and the goddesses find her to be very doting and charming.
* BadassBiker:
** Keima is a better biker than Keiichi and Megumi combined and has the knowledge to be a highly specialized mechanic; he only sees this as a hobby, as he is a glassblower by trade.
** Assuming Nekomi is in the vicinity of Tokyo, he traveled almost 900mi on his motorcycle just to see Keiichi and his vehicle is still pristine.
* BerserkButton: Keima has two completely different ones. The first, being touched by women other than Takano is [[BlueScreenOfDeath an irrational one that sends him amok]]; the second, being called "dad" by either Keiichi or Megumi is a rational one that earns their kids an admonishment from him.
* CloudCuckooLander: Keima's heterophobia is so out of control that he should be institutionalized. His son and daughter are very afraid of what he can do when he is off the rails.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Keima might be a glassblower and a gearhead, but he is also a very good fighter.
* DotingParent: To Megumi, though Takano and Keima eventually come to Nekomi to find how Keiichi is doing on his own.
* FriendshipTrinket: Keima sculpts extremely intricate glass pendants with the shape of feathers to give to the goddesses as a token of appreciation and parting gift. They inadvertently show their true nature as goddesses to him and Takano.
* HappilyMarried
* HippieParents: The reason behind their eccentric behavior towards his kids.
* HyperAwareness: Takano is the first one that realizes that there is something supernatural about Keiichi's girlfriend and their companions.
* IfItsYouItsOk: Takano argues that Keima lets her close because they love each other.
* InsistentTerminology: Keima does not like that his kids call him "dad"; as a matter of fact, he has insisted most of his life that they must '''always''' [[FirstNameBasis call him Keima]].
* LikeFatherLikeSon: Regarding motorcycles. According to Takano, it's the one thing that Keima and Keiichi have in common and it's the tenet of their relationship.
* MadArtist [=/=] TrueArtIsAngsty: Keima is a superb and extremely detailed glassblower who is dangerously afraid of women.
* OlderThanTheyLook [=/=] AbsurdlyYouthfulMother [=/=] MumLooksLikeASister: Keima looks at the very least twenty years older than Takano; she also doesn't seem one day older than Keiichi himself.
* OpenMindedParent: They have to be, once they realize their son is dating a goddess.
* OverwhelmingException: Belldandy is the only other woman that can approach Keima without him crawling up the walls, as he finds out.
* ParentalFavoritism: He and Takano dote their daughter Megumi with money and sustenance while they left Keiichi to fend off by himself and through his own devices. Keima, however, argues that he did this because he expects no less from his own son.
* PlotHole: When Keima first meets Urd, Skuld and Peorth, the latter one is '''floating in mid air'''; justified in him being too afraid of women to even notice something like that.
* SingleTargetSexuality: Keima only lets his wife physically touch him. He is very, '''very''' afraid of other women until he meets the Norns.
* ToughLove: He and Takano leave Keiichi to his own devices and no sustenance like they did with Megumi.

[[folder:The Lorelei]]

A race of mermaid-like sea creatures that at one instance show up at a BeachEpisode.

* BizarreAlienReproduction: They come close ashore to seek their mermen in order to have their "Love Festival". They use a MacGuffin called a "Whale's Tear" for such purpose, although one of the Lorelei spilled its contents into the water and it ended up seeping into Keiichi's ear when he was underwater. This makes him able to hear their beckoning song, so the Lorelei think Keiichi is a merman.
* HoneyTrap: The Lorelei mermen have to be lured through song... only that they end up lured by the ''goddesses song'' instead of the one from their mates.
* [[{{Hunk}} Hunks]]: Played for laughs. The Lorelei mermen are shown to be hunky [[{{Fratbro}} bro-like]] individuals where their mates are shown to be dainty and delicate females.
* OurMermaidsAreDifferent: They are more a mixture of mermaids, fairies and elves than mermaids proper. They also have wing-like appendages and as Keiichi notices, they're transparent underwater.
* UnscaledMerfolk: They don't appear to have scaly fish skin.

[[folder:Chieko Honda]]

Chieko Honda is a Shinnentai (a physical manifestation of unfulfilled willpower) residing in a pre-war mansion that the Motor Club reserved for vacation.

* DeadAllAlong: Chieko died not long after Hotarunosuke left the mansion in the 1930's.
* FightingSpirit: She's a manifestation of will that haunts the mansion with the sole drive to meet Hotarunosuke again.
* GhostlyGoals: She has lingered in the mansion since the 1930's on the promise that Hotarunosuke Morisato gave her a lap around the lake in his motorcycle. This is decades after both died.
* HauntedHouse: She's the manifestation of will haunting it.
* HouseFey: She maintained the Honda Inn for sixty years after her death.
* {{Irony}}: When she introduces herself, she states that she is the ''temporary'' caretaker. According to Belldandy, she had never seen a Shinnentai that lasted as long as she did.
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: She is not properly a ghost, but a physical manifestation of the desire left by an unfulfilled promise. She is physical and she is more than aware that she's been dead a long time.
* {{Poltergeist}}: Unlike a ghost, Chieko's Shinnentai is a physical entity.
* ThemeNaming: Much like other characters in canon, she is named after the car and motorcycle manufacturer Honda.

[[folder:Hotarunosuke Morisato]]
!!AKA Hotaru-No-Suke Morisato

Keiichi's grandfather presumably from Keima's side.

* DueToTheDead: Keeping respect towards him and Chieko, Keiichi refuses to appropriate Hotarunosuke's motorcycle, even when it's a classic. Also, while he did free Chieko's Shinnentai, Hotarunosuke did not fulfill his promise after all and he'd need the motorcycle to do so.
* LikeFatherLikeSon: Not to mention, like grandson too; Hotarunosuke was an avid motorcycle enthusiast just like Keima and Keiichi.
* TheOneThatGotAway: For each other. She and Hotarunosuke seemed to be in love, but it all withered away when she died. The manifestation of her will to meet him again lingered on the mansion for more than sixty years.
* ThePromise: As Keiichi explained to Chieko, Hotarunosuke did not fulfill his promise of taking her for a motorcycle ride ''precisely'' because she died.
* PosthumousCharacter: He has been dead for decades.
* SecretlyWealthy: A Brough Superior motorcycle (as it's stated in the footnotes) was five times more expensive than what an average Japanese person would have earned in a year in the 1930's. Hotarunosuke would have had to be very affluent to own one.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Keiichi is identical to him verbatim, enough to fool the spirit of a maid he met before the war.

[[folder:The Ninja Clan]]
!!Kodama, Mistress of Confusion
!!Lightning Hikari
!!Sheringan[[labelnote:*]]Nozomi in some translations[[/labelnote]], The Peeping Tomboy
[[caption-width:220:From bottom to top: Kodama, Hikari, Sheringan]]
A group of diminutive ninjas created by Mara out of lab mice.

* AppleOfDiscord: Kodama turns Urd and Skuld against each other by hitting them where they hurt the most.
* [[CuteBruiser Cute Bruisers]]: They kick ass and they are at the most six inches tall. They are also remarkably dangerous.
* HoneyTrap: Kodama hypnotizes and tries to seduce Keiichi in order to be caught by Belldandy in fraganti. The only problem is that Keiichi realizes pretty fast that Kodama looks SuperDeformed, making her plan backfire.
* InstantAwesomeJustAddNinjas: They're cute, funny, deadpan, and they turn the temple upside down with their wars of attrition.
* LemonyNarrator: As a way of self-referencing and criticizing his own work, Kosuke Fujishima makes Kodama refer to Keiichi and Belldandy's relationship as "at kindergarten level".
* {{Melodrama}}: Everything surrounding them consists of loyalty struggles and their duty as ninjas, almost at a Kabuki theater level; Mara did base their personalities on a film she had just watched.
* {{Ninja}}: Other than being half-a-foot tall, they fill the trope wholeheartedly.
* RuleOfFunny: By the way they act, they could have just stepped out of a Toshiro Mifune film.
* {{Seppuku}}: Kodama decides to take her own life when she fails her mission, only to be stopped by Belldandy and convinced that she shouldn't waste her life like that.
* {{Shapeshifting}}: Kodama can impersonate Urd and Skuld to the point.
* ThemeNaming: All three of them are named after Shinkansen trains.
* TheStoolPigeon: The first thing Sheringan tells her fellow ninjas is that she is going to tell on them to Mara.
* {{Turncoat}}:
** Hikari never does completely leave Mara's side, attempting to kill Keiichi once more before being stopped by Kodama.
** At the end of their arc, they all collectively defect from Mara's service.
* VitriolicBestFriends: Kodama and Hikari were best friends from when they were still mice.

[[folder:Eri & Tasuga]]

Childhood friends and former school classmates of Chihiro from her seaside hometown. Eri runs a jetski and snowmobile shop while Tasuga runs a motorcycle shop.

* [[AllPsychologyIsFreudian All Behaviorism Is Pavlovian]]: Eri complains about Chihiro and Keiichi's need for a start signal to begin racing, arguing that they must have been racehorses in a previous life.
* {{Meganekko}}: Eri: glasses, check; cute, check.
* NotSoAboveItAll: She was unwilling to surrender a snowmobile Chihiro wanted for parts until she, just like everyone else, was asked by Belldandy. She done fell.
* NotSoDifferent:
** Eri and Tasuga are more than happy to oblige Chihiro with her pursuit of building her dream bike, as long as someone pays them for the parts.
** Tasuga is every bit a gearhead as Chihiro is.
* [[OldFriend Old Friends]]: They've known Chihiro since before she attended NIT.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Chihiro is confronting with having to wallet the whole bill for Eri and Tasuga, so Eri makes Belldandy convince Chihiro; when she brushes off the haze, she tries to escape, only to be trapped in her own conceit.
* YouOweMe: Chihiro dragged everyone to town to build their dream machines but tries to play hooky on Eri and Tasuga. She unwittingly jumps on Skuld's motorcycle, which traps her in its folding feature.
