[[foldercontrol]]
[[folder:Protagonists]]
!Karn
The main protagonist of our story, and the sort of leader of the bunch. He loves swords, block pushing puzzles, and various generic hero troupes.
* AmnesiacHero: Is not one... much to his annoyance.
* AnimeHair: Styles it that way, [[http://adventurers.keenspot.com/d/0265.html with a blowtorch]].
* BreakingTheFourthWall: Pulls the biggest example when Khrima breaks the CD.
* GameBreaker: [[invoked]] Everyone quickly points out how broken his SuperMode is.
* GeniusDitz: If it involves block pushing, fighting, or fixing game [=CD=]s. Otherwise...
* HeroesPreferSwords: Loves them a lot.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: One strip had him try to ferret out a spy in his midst and managed to narrow it down to Ardam, and Killer Evil Death Spybot 5000. Guess which one he didn't accuse.
* IdiotHero: He plays the foil to Ardam's StraightMan, acting as though the rules of the RPGMechanicsVerse are completely sensible and natural.
* HalfHumanHybrid: [[spoiler: His father is half-Skyrian]]

!Ardam
The Black Mage of the band, and the smartest member of the group.
* BlackMage: Implied to be his character class, he dresses as one and uses magic in battle.
* DeadpanSnarker: Complains endlessly about the illogic of the RPGMechanicsVerse he lives in.
* ElementalPowers: All the RPG classics... and wind.
* HeroicBSOD: He will sometimes just lock up from the contrived ridiculousness of the world. In particular, [[EverythingTryingToKillYou Evil Pants]] caused him to be stunned.
* TheLancer: He is pretty much the opposite of Karn.
* OfficialCouple: [[spoiler:With Tesla.]]
* OnlySaneMan: Was this when it was just Karn and him.
* TheSmartGuy: He figured out all the rules to Septuple Scare... by himself! He explains he only did it because the alternative was leaving Karn to do it instead (likely stalling the party for ages).
* SummonMagic: One of his specialties.
* WrongGenreSavvy: His idea of common sense does not apply here.

!Drecker
The thief of the group, Karn and Ardam met him when he stole Karn's wallet.
* FlechetteStorm: What his [=IKnives=] skill amounts to.
* OptionalPartyMember: [[spoiler: And he isn't happy to learn this.]]
* VideoGameStealing: One of the experts at it.
* VisualPun: His Mug attack, which, instead of being a combination of a physical attack and stealing attempt, causes a giant ceramic mug to fall from the sky.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Really does not like mountains.

!Karashi
A ninja from a family of ninjas.
* ActionGirl: She shows off her ninja acrobatic skills cutscenes.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: [[spoiler: Mizuna thought Karashi was this to her. As Karashi quickly points out, it was the other way around.]]
* AnimeHair: [[spoiler: Mizuna's hair? It's natural! Karashi simply dyes hers brown.]]
* DamselOutOfDistress: Is kidnapped twice. And rescues herself twice. One time she did it so quickly that she made it back to camp before the party even realized she was gone.
* HalfHumanHybrid: Not that you can tell by looking, but she's apparently half dwarf. On her mother's side...
* HiddenDepths: She's a musician too; she was even in marching band at school. Of course, that was ninja school, and ninjas are supposed to be quiet and not seen. Gildward points out just why that doesn't work well.
* OfficialCouple: With Drecker. He thinks she's hot; she takes a long time to warm up to him.
* {{Ninja}}: Her character class. Like Franchise/FinalFantasy ninjas, she can use a "Throw" command in battle.
* HowDoIShootWeb: [[spoiler:Unlike the rest of the cast, she has no clue what most of her SuperMode abilities does.]]

!Killer Evil Death Spybot 5000
A killer robot sent by Khrima to infiltrate the party... That he fails to make use of.

* TheMole: [[http://adventurers.keenspot.com/d/0156.html Correctly identified as this]] by Karn, even though his name and vocabulary apparently weren't enough of a giveaway. Khrima doesn't use him that much, however.
* SomeCallMeTim: According to an interviewer, he [[http://adventurers.keenspot.com/d/0339.html likes to be called "Mike."]]
* TransformingMecha: Can become a cannon. And a couple other modes as well.

!Gildward
Resident spoony bard.
* ButtMonkey: He's on the receiving end of a lot of comedic abuse.
* DreadfulMusician: [[http://adventurers.keenspot.com/d/0135.html How he does damage in battle.]]
* JokeCharacter: He's largely ineffective in battle.
* LethalJokeCharacter:
** [[spoiler: He knows the Melody of Finite, making him a threat to the power of the Eternals.]]
** [[spoiler: During the fight with Whizorb, he shatters the Crystallium with a tuning fork.]]
* MeaningfulName: A combination of the Japanese and English names of [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyIV Edward]], the original SpoonyBard.
* SpoonyBard:
** How spoony you ask? He jumps for joy after surviving a single attack.
** And is excited when his attack reaches triple digits.
** And gets KO-ed by an attack that only inflicts random status effects.
--->Khrima: What's his problem? That spell is just random status effects.
--->Karn: That's usually enough for Gildward.
--->Khrima: It was just SLOW and ATK DOWN!
--->Karn: I stand by my earlier statement.

!Chookie
The self-proclaimed mascot character. This pink fur ball gets on everybody's nerves.

* BareFistedMonk: Not that he's very good at it...
* ButtMonkey: Along with Gildward, he often ends up on the receiving end of abuse. Unlike Gildward, it's often Karn dishing it out...
* DarkerAndEdgier: [[spoiler: His ending reveals that he has a sequel along those lines. Yes, the pink ball of fluff gets the parody of ''VideoGame/DirgeOfCerberus''.]]
* JokeCharacter: Shares this status with Gildward.
** He gets overjoyed when his damage hits triple digits.
* {{Mascot}}: Claims to be one, anyways.
* SidekickCreatureNuisance: "Cute" animal-like features? Check. Completely useless? Check. VerbalTic? Check. Drives the other party members crazy? Check.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Pie. Chookie objects to the telling of [[http://adventurers.keenspot.com/d/20020528.html tale of the legendary past]] because it doesn't have any pie in it.
* VerbalTic: much like Franchise/TheSmurfs, he randomly inserts Chook into words.

!Tesla
The second girl to join the group with a thing for blue haired mages.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: [[http://adventurers.keenspot.com/d/0360.html This strip]], in which she makes her first appearance, sets her up as an ActionGirl... and as having a major crush on Ardam.
* GunNut: Uses guns in battle and really, really obsesses over them, [[http://adventurers.keenspot.com/d/20020321.html as she admits]].
* MageMarksman: [[spoiler: Becomes this in her SuperMode]]

!Lumi
The last member to join, and priestess in a Totally Not Evil Religion.
* AwesomeButImpractical: Her Holy spell does a ton of damage and looks awesome, but it drains most of her MP.
%% commented out as Administrivia/ZeroContextExample * HealingHands
* HolyHandGrenade: Can use Holy-element attack magic.
* ReligionOfEvil: Shockingly for a JRPG, her religion isn't one of these.
* SatelliteLoveInterest: For Karn, and it's {{Lampshaded}}.
* WhiteMage: Her character class, and her style of dress.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Khrima Force]]

!Khrima
The BigBad of our series. Ever since he was a child, he always wanted to be an EvilOverlord. He's out to, you guessed it: TakeOverTheWorld.
* AffablyEvil: He's every bit as goofy as Karn.
* BadBoss: As an EvilOverlord, he's [[http://web.archive.org/web/20110926045624/http://adventurers.keenspot.com/d/0329.html not supposed to care about employee morale]], and he advises his minions to work "in the interest of not being fed to monsters."
* BreakingTheFourthWall: One of his attacks literally breaks the CD!
* CloudCuckooLander: Can rival Karn at times.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Several of his plans - for example, his idea for installing laser beams on a missile.
* DisneyVillainDeath: [[spoiler: The penultimate comic reveals that he survived and is [[HeelFaceTurn giving up evil]]. Still loves lasers, though.]]
* DunceCap: As a schoolboy, Khrima is sent to the corner for making his school project about his plans for taking over the universe. [[http://adventurers.keenspot.com/d/0146.html He wonders if his dunce cap could be converted into an energy funnel.]]
* EnergyWeapon: To the point that he put it down as his religion, uses them to cut a sandwich, and fired a minion for making something to replace lasers. [[spoiler: Appropriately, his last line in the comic was a suggestion to put a laser on a gravestone.]]
* EvilOverlord: He has lots of followers and minions, but exactly what he's the Overlord of is not stated.
* EvilPlan: He [[http://web.archive.org/web/20110926012425/http://adventurers.keenspot.com/d/0314.html sometimes has trouble coming up with these]].
* GoofyPrintUnderwear: Khrima's grandiloquent evil speech doesn't make much impact on laundry day, when he's [[http://web.archive.org/web/20110926045826/http://adventurers.keenspot.com/d/0390.html only wearing polka-dot boxers and a stupid T-shirt]].
* LoadBearingBoss: The fact that the Khrimalith was falling apart was even used as evidence to Karn that Khrima was defeated.
* TheManBehindTheMan: Khrima [[http://web.archive.org/web/20110926011125/http://adventurers.keenspot.com/d/0285.html dramatically reveals himself]], saying that he was "hiding behind his pawn by pretending to be his sidekick," but then realizing that he forgot to set up a pawn.
* MindControl: Khrima was [[http://web.archive.org/web/20110926010721/http://adventurers.keenspot.com/d/0206.html already experimenting with mind control drones in school]].
* OneWingedAngel: Has a condition that causes him to spontaneously grow an angel wing. [[spoiler: Assumes four different transformations during the final battle.]]
* RunningGag: He loves playing Boggle, and he loves finding the word "gorilla." He'll occasionally shout about it even when playing other games.
* TrueFinalBoss: Competes with Eternion for the position. [[spoiler: He wins!]]
* WeaksauceWeakness:
** Apparently, peanuts. [[http://web.archive.org/web/20110406013142/http://adventurers.keenspot.com/d/20050818.html "Have you never heard of an allergy before?"]]
** [[spoiler: As Karashi accidentally discovers, his third stage form is weak to getting hit with a falling piano, and his final form turns out to be vulnerable to the "Slow" status effect.]]

!Argent
Khrima's right hand man, there's little to be said. [[spoiler: Wrong!]]
* AntiVillain: Though one still has to wonder why the hell he thought working for Khrima was a good idea.
* BroughtDownToBadass: Working with Khrima is a bit of a step down for him. [[spoiler: Oh, but he gets back up.]]
* DarkAndTroubledPast: His backstory is revealed late in the strip. [[spoiler: He used to be the enforcer for the Eternal Council, punishing rogue Eternals by sealing their powers and making them mortal. Eternion turned out to be too much for him to handle, however.]]
* TheDragon: For Khrima
* EnigmaticMinion: His motivations aren't known until his backstory is finally revealed.
* WalkingSpoiler: See DarkAndTroubledPast.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: In Argent's first appearance, Karn immediately concludes that he must be evil because of this trope.

!Mizuna
Karashi's little sister, and a member of Khrima Force.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Thinks of Karashi as this. [[spoiler: Turns out it was the other way around.]]
* AnimeHair: Would fit right in Yugioh. Plus, it's her natural color.
* DarkActionGirl: Like Karashi, she shows off her ninja skills in cutscenes.
* EvilCounterpart: To her sister Karashi.
* HalfHumanHybrid: Just like her sister, she's half-dwarf, and she also takes after their father.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: [[spoiler: Becomes a Ninja Pirate in the epilogue.]]
* {{Ninja}}: just like her big sis.
* PerkyFemaleMinion: She's perky, female, and a minion.

!Axel
Dirkland, a bard Gildward went to school with. Turned to evil after graduating. Later becomes cyborg after joining Khrima.
* BarehandedBladeBlock: Uses a cyborg arm to do this to Karn.
* {{Cyborg}}: What he becomes after joining with Khrima
* EnergyWeapon: Combined with an ArmCannon.
--->Axel: What can I say? Mr. K was insistent.
* EvilCounterpart: To Gildward.
* MuggingTheMonster: Tried kidnapping Karashi to be the audience to a showdown with Gildward.
* MusicalAssassin: After becoming a cyborg.
* SpoonyBard: Until he's upgraded by Khrima, he's as generally ineffective as Gildward.
* TookALevelInBadAss: Khrima gives him cyborg upgrades and a Heavy Metal makeover, making him an actual threat to the party.

!Blanc
A man on a quest to get revenge on our heroes for killing his pet monster, Bitey.
* AffablyEvil: He gets along pretty well with the party, even with that whole "vow to kill them in revenge" deal.
* BareFistedMonk: His overall design.
* ImprobablePilotingSkills: He's in charge of keeping the Khrimalith flying during the final boss fight, and he keeps it from crashing until he's forced to abandon it due to [[LoadBearingBoss an imminent explosion related to Khrima's defeat]]. As he points out, not an easy task when said fight caused regular massive explosions in what he was trying to pilot.
* MartialArtsHeadband: It's how he was immediately identified. Plain at first, but later with a K on it when he joins Khrima.
* RevengeBeforeReason: His pet was a savage monster attacking innocent people. Blanc still wants to avenge him.
* YouKilledMyFather: Is trying to avenge his dead pet.

!Cody
A man who works for Khrima at first, but he gets fired fairly early on, making him a WildCard.
* MrExposition: Takes up this role in the final arc.
* OldFlameFizzle: Used to be Tesla's boyfriend, but they broke up long ago and neither was interested in picking back up.
* OptionalPartyMember: [[spoiler:He apparently can be recruited if Karn hadn't recruited Drecker.]]
* TuxedoAndMartini: Parodied in the epilogue, where he becomes a [[http://adventurers.keenspot.com/d/20060925.html "suave international superspy"]] and tries to order his soda "shaken and stirred."
* WildCard: Initially worked for Khrima, but he got fired for trying to replace a laser. Later works for Eternion. [[spoiler: And if Drecker hadn't been recruited, Cody would have joined Karn.]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Eternals]]
!Tropes to the group as a whole
* CoolMask: They have masks for faces.
* PhysicalGod: All of them are.
* WeaksauceWeakness: The melody of Finite acts as a PowerNullifier for them, which means they're vulnerable to ''bards''.

!Eternion
The other major villain, alongside Khrima, who claims to be the true final boss of the game.
* {{Bowdlerise}}: One of the few characters capable of actual swearing.
* DeadpanSnarker: Like Ardam, he also doesn't think much of the physics of the RPGMechanicsVerse.
* GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere: In his first appearance, he appears out of nowhere and with no foreshadowing.
* OutsideGenreFoe: Eternion, along with the other Eternals, are not native to the RPGMechanicsVerse and are not normally bound by its rules.
* PhysicalGod: After his first defeat, Karn and Khrima take his mask off, Franchise/ScoobyDoo style, and reveal "an infinately [sic] powerful evil being".
* TrueFinalBoss: Claims he'd be a better one then Khrima. [[spoiler: He becomes the DiscOneFinalBoss.]]

!Maxima Termis
Leader of the Eternal Council. Eternion once tried to depose him and failed.
* GameBreakingBug: [[spoiler:Is defeated using one.]]

!Infinel
The Messenger of the Eternal Council. He and Eternion really don't get along... at all.
* CrazyPrepared: Had his life force bond to the Realm of Calling (where summons reside) just in case Eternion offed him.

!Imposis

!Invisin
The Assassin of the Eternal Council. [[spoiler: In love with Eternion and willingly joins him.]]
* BroughtDownToNormal: [[spoiler: She ends up being "sealed" and rendered mortal by Argent.]]
* LoveMakesYouEvil: [[spoiler:She follows Eternion because she loves him.]]
* HeelFaceDoorSlam: [[spoiler:She offers to try to reform a de-powered Eternion. Argent blows both her and Eternion up.]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Everybody Else]]
!The "There Are Many Guards In The Castle" Guy
A man who can only say: "There are many guards in the castle."
* WelcomeToCorneria: Exists as a huge joke at this trope.

[[/folder]]
