!!The classic trilogy

The soundtracks for the first four games in the series were composed by Stewart Copeland of Music/ThePolice fame.

* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rn6njXcQ5g The credits theme]] for the trilogy is the same across all three games, and is particularly catchy as well as helping to tie all the adventures together.

The soundtrack of the first game is a love letter to [[TheSeventies 1970s]] ProgressiveRock, taking inspiration from keyboard-heavy groups such as Music/UriahHeep, Music/DeepPurple, Music/{{Genesis|Band}} and Music/{{Yes}}.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTzUAd_UxDQ Dark Passage.]] [[NightmareFuel Terrifying level]], but amazingly catchy music. It has a very '90s {{Grunge}} vibe to it.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxGnIbT4e90 Gnasty's Loot.]] This music perfectly embodies the stage's "You've pretty much reached HundredPercentCompletion, Spyro. But it's not over, you're almost there; your final stretch is going to be [[RuleOfFun fun.]]" kind of feeling. Its keyboard solo is ''very'' Tony Banks.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bGjW3b0B8Q Dark Hollow]]. Despite its name, it's an amazingly calm theme for a nighttime stage, and it feels like staying up late and slacking off during a summer night; [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIyMN1F-E4Q the rest of the level runs with that feeling.]]
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Bd940BkxGY Wizard Peak]]. This kickass BGM, just like Gnasty's Loot, has a very "Let's have [[RuleOfFun fun]]!" feeling.
* Even though it was a brutal ThatOneLevel, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcKr3KKNrZY Tree Tops]] had incredibly fitting and awesome background music. The way the music seems to climb towards the middle before dropping back down perfectly captures the feel of those supercharge challenges that we all love so much.
* Even more music goodness includes [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKhPaBXMYfQ Lofty Castle]], a whimsical, yet "dangerous-feeling" theme, and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4yGsfYUAk0 Haunted Towers]], which does pretty much the same.
* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkkD3TLaOfA main theme]] of ''Spyro the Dragon'', heard on the title screen, and its [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4IbvdqyNcQ moody remix]] heard in Toasty and the Gnorc Gnexus.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnggsM5Nris You can't beat Sunny Flight]], [[MemeticMutation Sunny Flight beats you!]]
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nk0qMpi38Vo Gnorc Cove]] from the original game. The song acts as a great introduction to the modern-day harbor appearance of the level, and also how far you've come on your journey.
* Special mention to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_OxqtvL-MA Misty Bog]], which was given a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5g4aQTD98U8 slower remix]] in the end credits that stuck around for the entire trilogy.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poMC1BC7V_4 Ice Cavern]] has an appropriately 'wintery' and even slightly eerie feel that manages to capture both the danger and adventure of the level.
* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ed7s82fprE Dream Weavers homeworld theme]] is wonderfully jaunty.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Video Game/Spyro 2 Riptos Rage ]]

* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_IBftr5H7U Metropolis,]] with its very "welcome to the future"-esque feeling, and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DS6D3LSH9s Sunny Beach]] as well.
* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7R541yyP4Lw music of Breeze Harbor]] [[CallBack sounds similar]] to the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBbu75Q1vCY Beast Makers world]].
* Within Breeze Harbor, the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSdsRZfrEnA song that plays]] during the trolley mission sneaks in a remix of the first game's theme song [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSdsRZfrEnA&t=1m about a minute in]].
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXWNG8XuQvw Magma Cone]] is pretty badass-sounding and includes deep growling sounds reminiscent of the rock monsters from this level to keep you on your toes (yep, the growling is part of the soundtrack rather than in-game sound effects).
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAvdW9z-8Gs Summer Forest]] is a simple yet beautiful track, creating a very calming and slightly mystical ambiance. This applies to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KH5R_TzdAG8 Autumn Plains]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq7S4QawjM0 Winter Tundra]] as well, with each of the homeworlds having their slightly different spin on it.
* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-bzoa0coqw bone dance song]]. It's only a little over twenty seconds long, but it is ''catchy''. Several players have confessed to going back to talk to Ooga, triggering the skeleton to start boogying, just so they can hear the song over and over. And it shows up in ''Year of the Dragon'', too!
* All three boss tracks have their merits:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esxWocltXeo Crush's Dungeon]] truly sets the stage for boss battles (and music) to come with its heavy percussion and liberal use of guitars. It's especially effective if one plays the game just after the first one: no longer are the bosses running away. They're going to stand their ground and fight Spyro to the finish.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGYG_bV5q1Y Gulp's Overlook]] takes an iconic sample from Universal's music library and expands upon it with Copeland's touches. The sample conveys that you're facing a monster that is stronger and cleverer than Crush. Perhaps Ripto was right when he said Gulp would be more than a match for Spyro.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfwwAxGIqi4 Ripto's Arena]] is a frenetic track that pairs well with Spyro and Ripto racing each other for the orbs to power up. It is also filled with OminousLatinChanting (which is conspicuously absent in the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DI1LYHadik European version]]), making it abundantly clear that this is the ultimate showdown.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fetkAVhvFDo Hurricos]] has a very laid-back and cruise-y feel; it also has parts that sound like sparks of electricity, which fits very well with the level (an electricity factory run by electrolls). It will also help you stay calm as you try to glide to all those fans...
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3F9ZZwAqej0 Aquaria Towers]] makes it feel like you're having an underwater adventure.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Video Game/Spyro Year Of The Dragon ]]

* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4i-cvK8s90 Fireworks Factory,]] fitting Film/TheMatrix-esque [[CutscenePowerToTheMax skills]] shown by [[PintsizedPowerhouse Greta]], is just as action-packed as the theme itself.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1KbCnhhQYs Harbor Speedway!]] Very siren-like on surface level... and it is executed superbly, to put it lightly.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xf1DK6BhygQ Honey Speedway]] from ''Year of the Dragon''[='=]s greatest hits edition has a gloomier feel than most other tracks in the game.
* The Boss themes are all gems (no pun intended) in their own right:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBFTjMYaowo Buzz's Dungeon]] comes across as irascible, furious, and gives off a bang-your-head-against-the-wall kind of vibe that sublimely works with the enemy Spyro is dealing with.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHXecsCEdGs Spike's Arena]]. An ominous, echo-y kind of tune that works perfectly with a battle against a towering, colossal, sasquatch-thingy that's constantly firing lasers at the player. Bonus points for Spike being ThatOneBoss.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQgkV0KLaF8 Scorch's Pit]], very bizarre-sounding and beyond perfect, considering the boss fight involves a bat-winged abomination intended to annihilate basically the entire world.
** And the FinalBoss theme, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmHScpFsD_0 Sorceress's Lair]], starts off explosive, then becomes a drum-filled, fast-paced piece before going back to sounding explosive and grand. It's very much befitting of a battle where cannons, tanks, and flying saucers are involved.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVfNNKdDKr0 Icy Peak]]. One might mistake it for a track from an {{SSX}} game.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bldoyKjN1F8 Spooky Swamp]] is both cool and a bit creepy, matching the level perfectly.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lt3rRBLMtRY Molten Crater]] has a bit of a techno feel and makes you just want to dance around and sing along with every "Whoo!"

!!The games released between the classic and ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfSpyro'' trilogies
----
* While opinions on ''Enter the Dragonfly'' are mixed, it definitely has a great soundtrack, with themes like [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApkEbhvPbLg Cloud 9]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqmNsUAanqc Honey Marsh]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6hA2be2pkk Monkey Monastery]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljxQTgpzlXo Thieves' Den]] and the unused [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEHTuL3LHoQ Mid Flute]].
* ''Season of Flame'' has [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGX0y0G_C_w Volcano Vaults]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zR4v2M9y1Rk Alpine Abobe]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIqhPz4e-qI Winter Mesa]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqJi3Cev7hA Canyon Hop]].
* ''Spyro: Attack of the Rhynocs'' has [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHBX-D4ADZ0 Rhynocs 'n' Clocks]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms5deCBY-Do Sgt. Byrd's missions]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6ZD3x0zam4 Chateau Ripto]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvu0kB8D8vo Ripto's battle theme]] and of course [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-pArD6wtSE the Main Menu]].
* Unusually, ''A Hero's Tail'' has four separate composers; Craig Sharma, David Marsden, Keith Leary, and Paul Lawler, which makes a lot of the music in the game sound very different to one another (Coastal Remains sounds nothing like Molten Mound). And though they keep to Stewart Copeland's style of music in some tracks, the composers go for a more traditional orchestral-feeling score. Stewart's SacredCow status aside, this game does have quite a lot of good music to listen to on your adventure:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYC_aAaBvwM Cloudy Domain]] sounds epic, with orchestral beats that make everything sound triumphant.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVIYnZi90-o Frostbite Village]] is probably the most ''Spyro''-esque song on the soundtrack, being a great atmospheric track to relax to while exploring one of the [[SceneryPorn prettiest areas in the game]].
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTCS5aRHLL8 Ice Citadel]] has that bombastic royal feel to it, while mixing in chimes in to make everything feel colder.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j84d87K4hSk Coastal Remains]] gives off the tropical vibe, and sounds very relaxing to listen to while you traverse the beaches of the level.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9mPu1MBtfo Gloomy Glacier]] sounds very cold and oddly threatening, which works, given that you have to rescue Spyro himself.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQADPw_hhoE Sgt. Byrd Speedways]] is militaristic-sounding, which definitely suits his redesign. The main chorus also sounds very triumphant and hopeful, as if on a flying adventure.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sr-4h6VJZLY Red's Laboratory]] is a funky techno beat to get you pumped as you go through the last level.

!!The Reignited Trilogy
* The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DImhJoZ4esk main theme]] of the whole game is an entire throwback to the main themes of the classic trilogy (minus ''Year of the Dragon''). It starts with the first game's theme and eventually goes off to play the second game's theme and it sounds phenomenal.
* The original theme for Wizard Peak is a great song of its own, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKRGGqbc690 and the reimagining's version]] is a major highlight of the trilogy.
