* Mari sees the car driving near to where her parents' house is, subtly turns the car's cigarette lighter on without Sadie noticing and then burns her. Sure she gets stopped from escaping but it was a gutsy move.
* Paige redeems herself twice for being a bad friend to Mari.
** When the others are trying to make Justin rape Mari, she picks up a log and whacks Francis over the head with it. She very nearly makes it to safety too, and it's just bad luck that they catch up to her.
** She again tries to stop them from raping Mari by screaming "you're pathetic!" at Krug. It's clear she doesn't care what happens to her anymore, but she'll do what she can to save Mari.
* After being brutally raped by Krug, Mari picks up a rock, hides it and hits him in the face with it. This buys her enough time to make it to the lake and swim for her life. And note what she does when Krug shoots her in the shoulder - she cleverly rolls onto her back, as any experienced swimmer would know, to keep herself afloat and make sure her head doesn't go underwater.
* This exchange between Krug and John during the climax:

* Krug's death. Dr. Collingwood, using his medical expertise, paralyzes Krug from the neck down, then puts his head in a ''microwave''. [[YourHeadAsplode Splat!]] A moment so awesome, they decided that they couldn't top it and ended the movie there.
