Liadan journeying across the Marshes with [[spoiler:Bran and Gull]] during their escape from Sidhe Dubh with her baby strapped to her back.
Gull, even after all that torture and with no fingers left, carries Bran in his arms during their escape and does not complain once. He never gives up, even when Liadan does briefly at one point, and urges her to keep going.

[[spoiler:Ciaran]] saves all their lives during the escape when Liadan calls for help by creating a pathway across the Marshes out of plants so that Liadan, Bran and Gull can cross safely.
