!!''Vector Prime''
* Chewbacca, bloodied and dazed, alone among wreckage and corpses on the dying planet of Sernpidal, looked up, stared a falling moon straight on, and loudly dared it to come claim him if it was bold enough to try.
** In-universe, it's lampshaded that Chewbacca is badass enough that it took a ''moon'' to kill him.

!!''Dark Tide: Onslaught''
* Jacen finds himself captured by the Vong. He's trying to call his lightsaber to him, but he can't seem to do it. Then it flies ''away'' from him. He hears it ignite... and then another lightsaber igniting. His Uncle Luke has arrived, and while Luke doesn't ''start'' a fight with the Vong, he kicks nine kinds of hell out of them when they don't stand down. Primarily by use of a Force tornado that pummels them with rocks and debris from the ground around them. Just because the Force doesn't affect the Vong directly doesn't mean it's useless against them.
** Elsewhere, Anakin has to deal with a group of Vong hunting him and an increasingly ill Mara, all on his own. He manages to take down three individually, and when the remaining three catch up with him, they actually ''hesitate''.

!!''Ruin'':
* During the defense of Ithor, Borsk Fey'lya tries to play ObstructiveBureaucrat and have the New Republic forces take command of the situation, which is a team-up between Traest Kre'fay and Gilad Pellaeon's forces. But the two have seen him coming a mile off. Pellaeon tells Borsk that if he isn't in charge of Ithor's defense, ''all'' the Imperial forces helping them will pack up and go home. Borsk starts throwing a honest-to-goodness tantrum, and Kre'fay reminds him how he ''promised'' to let the military do its thing without oversight. If he doesn't, Kre'fay will also pack up his things, and head off to the Unknown Regions with his entire fleet. Borsk tries pointing out this'd leave the Jedi behind, and he wouldn't do that.
--->'''Traest Kre'fay:''' No? Try me. You don't care about the Jedi. If you had your way, they would all perish here. You'd praise their sacrifice, build memorials to them, and happily dance on their graves.
* Having told his cousin his plan, Borsk then turns to two nearby guards and demand they arrest Kre'fay. They mysteriously don't seem to hear the order.

!!''Balance Point'':
* Jacen, having spent the entire book refusing to use the Force at all (much to the irritation of everyone around him), finds Tsavong Lah holding his mom ready for sacrifice. Cue Jacen deciding to heck with it. He promptly goes one with the Force and pummels Tsavong with everything in the room, culminating in him smashing the warmaster out the nearest window with a desk.

!!''Edge of Victory'' Duology
* Anakin and Vua Rapuung's EnemyMine situation on Yavin, which leads to the rescue of Tahiri, and the birth of the Shamed Ones' ''Jeedai'' heresy.
* Corran, Anakin, and Tahiri are on a space station orbiting the homeworld of the Givin, whose leaders were not particularly happy to have them there. The Vong show up, and Corran assumes the Givin will turn them over to the Vong. The Givin, however, begin pitched battle with the Vong. Confused, Corran asks the Givin leader why the Vong didn't transmit their usual "Surrender the Jedi and we'll let you live" message. The Givin leader's reply? "They did. We did not believe them." After seeing dozens of worlds throw Jedi to the wolves (and get destroyed regardless), it was both awesome and refreshing to see one planet refuse.

!!''Star by Star'':
* When a Peace Brigade collaborator who tries to turn over former Jedi trainee Uldir Lochett over to the Yuuzhan Vong, Uldir simply presses a hidden button on his control panel, and the collaborator is ejected out of the cockpit and into space faster than you can say ThrownOutTheAirlock.
* During the fall of Coruscant, Viqi Shesh tries abducting Ben Skywalker. It fails in part thanks to Lando's YVH droids, but also because of C-[=3P0=], who she abducted in the process. Threepio manages to successfully hide as Lando's droids work through Viqi's ship and Vong back-up, then hides Ben and uses his vocal skills to imitate him, tricking Viqi long enough to stop her escaping with the baby.
* As Han and Leia are trying to get to the ''Falcon'', their way is blocked by two guards (who curiously have a mad-on for droids). As Han's trying to talk past them, the YVH droid with them calmly tells everyone not to panic, and kills them... revealing they were Vong infiltrators.
* Supreme Chancellor Fey'lya [[RedemptionEqualsDeath sacrificing himself to make a dent in the Vong forces]]. That's right; a conniving SmugSnake [[HeroicSacrifice dies as a genuine hero]]!

!!''Enemy Lines: Rebel Dream and Rebel Stand''
* ''Rebel Dream'' has the Galactic Alliance tricking the Vong into invading a planet to try and destroy a fake superweapon and suffering a ''long'' series of defeats on the ground. Of note is Operation Emperor's Hammer, in which Vong infantry was lured in the open and suffered four minutes of OrbitalBombardment from the ''Lusankya'', a Star Dreadnought. To put matters into perspective, three Star Destroyers can reduce the surface of a planet to slag in a matter of hours, and an ''Executor''-class Star Dreadnought like the ''Lusankya'' has the firepower of at least ''[[NoKillLikeOverkill one hundred]]'' [[NoKillLikeOverkill Star Destroyers]].
* At the end of ''Rebel Dream'', Tam Elgrin, an unwilling spy for the Yuuzhan Vong, finally begins to fight back against his conditioning despite knowing that doing so will likely kill him. He first refuses to kill Danni Quee despite the opportunity seemingly being available to him. He then reverses one prior bit of sabotage he'd done, removing a tracking creature from Jaina's fighter. At that point he's in such immense pain that he knows that death is imminent, but this way [[IDieFree he goes out on his own terms]].
--->'''Tam:''' I've won. I don't have to do what they say. All they can do is kill me.
** Tam is soon after rescued and, in a moment of awesome for Cilghal and the Borleias medical team, saved from death. Tam's treatment negates the pain delivered by the conditioning, and, with time, allows him the free will he once had. He's also been cleared of treason charges due to a number of mitigating factors: He was under conditioning that could be legally considered duress, he eventually resisted said conditioning at great risk to his own life, and--as Tam found out much later, much to his relief--the information he'd been feeding the Yuuzhan Vong [[FeedTheMole was information the New Republic wanted the Yuuzhan Vong to have anyway]].
* Most of the defense of Borelias qualifies, but no part more so than its climactic battle. Wedge is determined that, contrary to what the Vong and his own superiors expect, their defense will not be to the death. So he initiates Operation Emperor's Spear, using the aforementioned fake superweapon to lure the Vong into a confrontation and then abandoning it, launching a frantic, all-out assault on the Vong worldship while the rest of the garrison slips away. The end result is the very definition of a PyrrhicVictory for the Yuuzhan Vong: They gain the planet, but lose the worldship and their general in the process. Even the fact that a Super Star Destroyer is sacrificed doesn't offset it, as the SSD was stripped to its bare essentials (the excess weapons, equipment, and crew redistributed to the rest of the fleet), and the lone person crewing (more like piloting) the ship--the commander in charge--manages to escape just before impact. To top it all off, as one of the last ones off the planet, Wedge personally engages and destroys an entire squadron of 12 coralskippers, in a damaged X-Wing.
--->'''Wedge:''' Contrary to what you may have heard, this is ''not'' a suicide mission.
* What makes this achievement even more impressive is that Wedge was forced to match wits with a ''very'' canny Yuuzhan Vong military leader (Czulkang Lah, father of warmaster Tsavong Lah) after he was forced to wipe out a less competent leader earlier than he'd intended (in order to save an important asset that had picked the wrong moment to arrive). Despite the challenge, he was able to use false intelligence [[FeedTheMole "leaked" to the enemy]] to dictate the enemy's actions, and ended up holding out longer than anyone expected before finally withdrawing with most of his forces intact.
* During the final battle, Wedge is forced to make his escape by himself in an X-wing. In doing so, he takes on and defeats an entire squadron--''12 coralskippers'' singlehandedly. Doing so, however, leaves him crippled and shieldless. And then another squadron shows up, intent on blowing the freighter he's protecting into smithereens. Wedge [[HeroicSacrifice throws himself into their path, intent on taking as many of them as he can with them]]. Fortunately, he's saved by a couple of X-wing squadrons, but the intent was there.
* ''Rebel Stand'' also features Luke, Mara and Tahiri clashing against the Dark Side Adept Lord Nyax, and various Yuuzhaan Vong forces on Coruscant, with the battle taking place above a newly opened wellspring of the Force. Nyax is able to sense and counter all of the Jedi attacks with the Force, so Tahiri closes herself off to the Force temporarily and [[DidntSeeThatComing breaks his back with a trio of Yuuzhan Vong thud bugs]], leaving Nyax to tumble into the pit he created. The Jedi flee, leaving Nyax incapacitated as the Yuuzhaan Vong coralskippers arrive, with Nyax [[DoNotGoGentle ripping out whole tons of rubble from the ruins of the Jedi Temple with force telekinesis and throwing them at both the coralskippers and the capitol ships]], with more and more rubble still flinging upward and destroying their ships even as the Vong frantically continue bombing the area. Nyax actually ''dies'' sometime during this point, but in doing so imbues the Force wellspring with his last intent.
* [[GuileHero Yassat]], a member of Coruscant's [[LaResistance Walkway Collective]] gets an OffscreenMomentOfAwesome when, while helping Luke and the others, he reveals that he managed to escape from Nyax (a very difficult feat indeed) while being pursued by luring him into the territory of a local band of [[ImAHumanitarian cannibals]] who [[MuggingTheMonster promptly attacks Nyax and became his latest victims]] while Yassat slipped away in the confusion.
* The Lusankya (the Super Star Destroyer mentioned above) and its captain, Eldo Davip, get three Moments of Awesome .
** The first one occurs when the Lusankya screws up Wedge's plan... by being dragged out of hyperspace in the middle of the enemy fleet, and subsequently decapitating its command structure. Whoops.
*** And Wedge's plan, by the way? To lose the planet, but do it in a way that would inspire people. That's right- Wedge Antilles tried to lose a battle [[SpringtimeForHitler AND COULDN'T]].
** The second one, Operation Emperor's Hammer, involved luring the Yuuzhan Vong to beseige their base on Borleias, and then [[KillSat blasting them from orbit]].
---> '''Iella:''' So who are you going to hit them with? The New Republic, or the Rebellion?\\
'''Wedge:''' Neither. We're going to him them with an enemy they've never had the displeasure of facing. We're going to hit them with the Empire.\\
'''Tycho:''' They're not going to like the Empire.
** The third one was called Operation Emperor's Spear. The ''Lusankya'' was systematically stripped of its weapons, fitted with an internal reinforced spear along its eleven mile length, and packed with explosives. Then Eldo Davip himself singlehandedly [[RammingAlwaysWorks rammed it into the Vong worldship]], before escaping in a Y-Wing made of spare parts for this purpose. At the end of the day, the Yuuzhan Vong were handed the very definition of a PyrrhicVictory; they did finally gain Borleias, but they lost far more in taking it than the New Republic lost in defending, and in the end the New Republic defenders escaped. Yes, the New Republic lost the ''Lusankya'', but its weapons and crew were systematically moved to other ships who were in need of replacements (also evidently bringing Booster's ship, ''Errant Venture'', up to full Imperial Star Destroyer firepower for the final battle), making this sacrifice hurt far less than it might have otherwise.
* From that same book, Wedge Antilles in a ''damaged'' droidless ship taking down ''an entire squadron of coralskippers''. An entire squadron! By himself! ''Jedi'' can only do that when they have superior firepower or tricks! Blackmoon Eleven: The Greatest Pilot Of All Time.
** Made even more awesome (and a CMOF) by current Rogue Squadron (Wedge's old command) Leader Gavin Darklighter (a pilot Wedge trained way back when) not knowing who he's talking to and having the following discussion with his old CO:
--->'''Gavin:''' Blackmoon Eleven, what did you think you were doing going after an entire squadron?\\
'''Wedge:''' My job.\\
'''Gavin:''' That's "my job, SIR".\\
'''Wedge:''' ''(grinning)'' My job, SIR.\\
'''Gavin:''' Son, if you develop piloting skills in proportion to your nerve, someday they'll call you [[{{Irony}} the greatest pilot of all time]].
* Tam Elgrin, recently freed from his conditioning, recognizes a Yuuzhan Vong bioform designed to blend in with the surroundings by a brief flash in a holovid recording by Tarc. Tam and his boss, Wolam Tser, go to investigate and find a hidden tunnel. Tam responds to a scream from the tunnel by going down to try and effect a rescue while Tser contacts Intelligence. After freeing the captive (who goes on to survive), Tam ends up attempting to fight a Yuuzhan Vong spy who shows up. Tam loses, but the fight delays the spy long enough for Intelligence and security to show up. The next day, as Tam is recovering in the hospital ward, Iella lets Tam know just what he accomplished:
--->'''Iella:''' You did a very important thing last night. You prevented a Yuuzhan Vong spy from getting away with some, well, very significant information.\\
'''Tam:''' Information you ''didn't'' want them to have. [[FeedTheMole Unlike the stuff I gave them]].
* Wedge in general is win in that duology. He's consistently, intensely brilliant, [[XanatosSpeedChess quick on his feet]], able to see through deceptions, and daring.
--> The tactic he needed clicked into Wedge's mind. In the span of a second, he evaluated it, tested it for major weaknesses, dismissed the weaknesses as irrelevant because of the Yuuzhan Vong's current state of confusion, and decided that he could probably use the tactic again - once - at a later time.

!!''Traitor:'':
** Ganner Rhysode's LastStand. He literally becomes one with the Force while holding off ''hundreds'' of Yuuzhan Vong warriors ''single-handedly'', finally pulling a Samson and collapsing the building on himself and everything in the vicinity before he's overcome. This impresses the Vong so much that he winds up as a central figure in the Vong's Jeedai heresy, an invincible warrior called the Ganner who guards the gateway to the underworld. It also brings his character arc to its conclusion: he started as an arrogant GlorySeeker who wanted to be a hero, but was humbled and started serving modestly after being wounded. His final realization that he is just the sidekick to Jacen's larger, more important actions results in him sacrificing his life to buy Jacen time, and consequently ''earns'' him the title of hero.
--> "I am Ganner. This threshold is ''mine''. I claim it for my own. Bring on your thousands, one at a time or all in a rush. I don't give a damn. None shall pass."
** To reiterate: Ganner's final stand was so impressive, that the Yuuzhan Vong ''integrated him into their pantheon''.
** Jacen's best moment occurs earlier in ''Traitor'': when he makes the living armor out of amphistaffs and looks at the Yuuzhan Vong warriors headed towards him, with the immortal line, "I'd like you to meet some friends of mine." Followed by a fantastic CurbStompBattle.
** Vergere gets one near the end; when she's right about to 'leave' with Nom Anor and when Nom starts boasting about [[CrazyPrepared always having a contingency plan]], Vergere switches Anakin's captured lightsaber on and holds it ''inches'' from his face, going off on a tangent about how elegant the lightsaber is, while Nom Anor is clearly '''''terrified.''''' She finishes it off with responding to Nom's accusation of "You...you said Jacen Solo would steal this ship!" with a theatrical sigh, and [[IronicEcho "When will you realize, Executor, that everything I tell you is the truth?"]]

!!''Destiny's Way'':
* Admiral Ackbar comes out of retirement to devise a complex gambit. The Yuuzhan Vong are fooled into believing they've located a secret base where the Jedi and the New Republic command are hiding, in Ebaq 9, a star system with only one (apparent) way in or out. Their warmaster leads his fleet there and begins to attack what few forces are there. Then some New Republic reinforcements arrive. Then a huge New Republic fleet arrives, warping in along secret hyperspace routes provided by the Imperial Remnant; it's so huge that the Vong warmaster's sensor board ''can't properly display them all.'' With the Vong trapped, the New Republic fleet tears the Vong fleet to ribbons. Portions of the Vong fleet attempt to retreat along the sole hyperspace route they know, and run into the minefield that the initial reinforcements dropped on their way in. The warmaster and the vast majority of his fleet are killed. The Battle of Ebaq 9 was a badly-needed morale boost for the New Republic, and the turning point in the war, the beginning of the end for the Vong.
* Jaina Solo actually gets one in, back when the Expanded Universe's current female disenfranchisement complex was still in its infancy. At the climax, she takes on Yuuzhan Vong [[TheDragon Warmaster Tsavong Lah]], with the final result that her lightsaber ends up embedded in his neck.
* Simultaneously a SugarWiki/{{Funny Moment|s}}, when Han shuts down the arrogant Imperial commander early on in ''Destiny's Way''. She brags about how TheEmpire would never have had the kinds of problems with the Yuuzhan Vong that the New Republic was having, as they would have mobilized their entire fleet at the first sign of trouble and then would have swiftly and mercilessly crushed the opposition. Han fires back by pointing out that TheEmpire would have done nothing of the sort and instead would have wasted god knows how much on a [[AwesomeButImpractical massively impractical superweapon]] that would have either not worked or would have had [[AchillesHeel some design flaw]] that an enemy ace could exploit and destroy, and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking would have given it a stupid, grandiose name to boot]].
-->"That's not what the Empire would have done, Commander. What the Empire would have done was build a super-colossal Yuuzhan Vong-killing battle machine. They would have called it the Nova Colossus or the Galaxy Destructor or the Nostril of Palpatine or something equally grandiose. They would have spent billions of credits, employed thousands of contractors and subcontractors, and equipped it with the latest in death-dealing technology. And you know what would have happened? It wouldn't have worked. They'd forget to bolt down a metal plate over an access hatch leading to the main reactors, or some other mistake, and a hotshot enemy pilot would drop a bomb down there and blow the whole thing up. Now that's what the Empire would have done."
** Automatically a SugarWiki/{{Funny Moment|s}} purely for the term "Nostril of Palpatine".
** Also an additional moment of awesome that the woman he's talking to, one who's very loyal to the Empire, has to shrug and agree that he's probably right.
* A New Republic fleet commander gives an epic TheReasonYouSuckSpeech to a pair of sleazy politicians who diverted crucial military resources to cover their own evacuation from Coruscant. He mockingly calls them [[EmbarrassingNickname "Senator Sneakaway" and "Senator Scramblefree."]] Then he bluntly says that if they ever try to do anything like that again, then whatever military force is on hand will shove them into an escape pod and launch it straight at the Yuuzhan Vong fleet.

!!''The Unifying Force:''
* Kunra shows that he GrewASpine when Nom Anor (in his guise as MessianicArchetype Yu'shaa) attempts to abandon his RabbleRouser guise and disperse the mob of rebellious Shamed Ones, only for Kunra to keep twisting everything he says and just get them madder to the point where Nom realizes he couldn't; talk them down even if he could get them to realize what he was saying (which makes a big difference in the final battle). His first lines set a pretty good idea of what's to come in the conversation, with anything that Nom says to try to counter him just [[DiggingYourselfDeeper giving Kunra more ammunition to misinterpret]].
-->'''Nom Anor''': Yes I promised to lift you, But we must wait a while longer. This time I come only to warn you. Shimrra knows what you're planning to do at the sacrifice, and you must trust me when I tell you he will respond ''wrathfully''.
-->'''Kunra:''' Yu'shaa says that we must restate our plan-[[BaitAndSwitchComment that we must attack in greater numbers.]]
* Luke decapitating Yuuzhan Vong Supreme Overlord Shimrra with his and Anakin's lightsabers.
* The final battle between Jacen and Onimi, when Jacen achieves Oneness with the Force and causes Onimi's own poisons to liquify him from the inside out. Considering all of the atrocities that Onimi has caused purely to ascend to Godhood, it's more than righteous and it causes the destruction of the Vong Citadel, ensuring that the War will finally end.
* Luke's battle with Shimrra and the slayers also applies. He was able to easily defeat five slayers, despite powerful Jedi Kyp Durron being unable to defeat a single weakened one. He's described as so in tune with the Force that he's able to move fast enough that he's a blur even to Jacen and Jaina's Jedi senses.
* Another reason why the final battle was awesome? It was ''different.'' While even Luke makes comparisons between Shimrra and Palpatine, it's clear from the start that Shimrra and his guards are an entirely different animal than the Emperor was, with Shimrra himself getting into the battle and physically overpowering the Jedi at points.
* Yet another NJO example: Admiral Pellaeon, Thrawn's former second in command, gets to deliver this line:
--->"Although you may win the occasional battle against us, Vorrik, the Empire will always strike back." (Yes, ''[[TheEmpire that]]'' [[TheEmpire Empire]].)
* Vergere's conversation with Jacen on Yuuzhan'tar
--> '''Vergere''': We are playing the same game we have been playing ever since Myrkr: we are playing "Who is Jacen Solo?"\\
'''Jacen''': If that's the game, I can end it right now. I know who I am Vergere. No matter what you do to me. No matter what torture you put me through. If I never touch the Force again. It doesn't matter. I know.\\
'''Vergere''': Do you?\\
'''Jacen''': Yes. I'm a Jedi.
