* In ''Sweet Silver Blues'', Garrett heads all the way to the war torn Kantard in order to track down the love of a deceased friend. He ends up having to play Van Helsing and deal with a small horde of the undead.
** Garrett also has to deal with his future girlfriend Tinnie and Rose Tate stripped naked before being paraded through the streets of [=TunnFaire=] after they plan to have him arrested for a FalseRapeAccusation. He makes sure they're protected along the way, though.
** Morley gets one of his own when he uses a captured vampire to deal with his LoanShark creditors.
* ''Cold Copper Tears'' ends with Garrett and the Dead Man deducing the best way to deal with the Loghyr false god is to kill it with a massive horde of vermin. This DeathByAThousandCuts works just as fine as a direct assault if not better.
* ''Old Tin Sorrows'' has one of the saddest endings but Garrett managing to solve all of the murders comes at great personal cost as well as utilizing his tremendous skill as a detective. No one wanted him to figure out it out in the end save, unfortunately, the victim. Not even Garrett.
** For Garrett's love life, the fact he manages to seduce a ''ghost.''
* In ''Dread Brass Shadows'', Garrett actually stuns Chodo Contague by stating that he would destroy the ArtifactOfDoom rather than use it, which Chodo realizes he's 100% sincere about. He even manages to successfully destroy the artifact with everyone else wanting it.
* ''Red Iron Nights'' depends on the fact that Garrett successfully has done enough work that the [=TunnFaire=] police, who ''hate him'' are willing to hire him to go after a SerialKiller.
** Garrett manages to capture the SerialKiller early on but, unfortunately, said serial killer is actually a curse and continues on.
** The Dead Man is the one who finally figures out how to break the cycle of killing forever.
** Belinda Chondue successfully seizes control over her father's criminal organization and sets herself up as TheManBehindTheMan.
* ''Deadly Quicksilver Lies'' has Garrett set up against the Deadly Rainmaker. Garrett manages to emerge triumphant, even though it's very likely he could have been her ally.
** The Dead Man reveals that he knew the location of the treasure everyone was fighting over the entire time.
* In ''Petty Pewter Gods'', Garrett succesfully proves his big brassy balls are every bit as real as his reputation suggests by the fact the gods of two pantheons want to hire him to resolve a contest between them. Garrett is not particularly intimidated by either group.
* ''Faded Steel Heat'' has Garrett manage to navigate a conflict between the Call, Belinda's criminal syndicate, the angry mob of nonhumans, and the police even before the introduction of shapeshifters into the story.
